you looked up. eric was standing at the doorway, dressed in a comfy hoodie while holding a bowl of popcorn.

“uh…” you scratched the back of your neck sheepishly, “i forgot to buy more.”

“seriously?” he whined as he plopped onto the bed next to you. he took a bite and eyed you. “the popcorn’s bland now.”

“ay,” you glared. “it’s perfectly fine, don’t be dramatic.” 

eric simply stuck his tongue out at you. 

“so,” he turned to you with an excited expression. “what movie are we watching this time, dear best friend?”

you brightened and grabbed the TV remote. “i know exactly,” you explained, turning it on. “remember that one movie that we used to always make fun of because of how cheesy the romance was?”

he stared at you clueless for a brief second before his mouth opened into a wide O. “that one? yeah actually, let’s watch it!" he exclaimed, making you flinch from his volume. "it’ll be so fun.”

“going to make jokes about it again?” you teased.

“you know me so well,” he sarcastically replied, nudging you by the shoulder with a wide smile. when you started the show, it became quiet between the two of you.

well, it was quiet until the couple decided to hold hands, intertwining their fingers tightly. you giggled at the scene.

“they’re literally holding hands because they’re on an elevator,” you joked. “that’s so random!"

eric only laughed without a comment. he turned down to glance at his own hands. and for some reason, he wondered how yours would fit against his. he quickly shook his head aggressively, his cheeks feeling hot for some reason.

“oh my god,” you laughed even more. “they’re even hugging! isn’t that a bit much since they literally saw each other the day before?”

eric was quiet this time.

you peeked at him, “eric?”

“hm?” he looked distracted. “oh! y-yeah, yeah.” his eyes were wide as he stared at the screen with mixed feelings. hugging you was a normal occurrence. you two have been friends for years after all. but for some reason… he wanted more. he wanted to cuddle you when days were cold and he wanted to hold you when you were sad. 

he mentally slapped himself. i can’t be thinking that, we’re literally just friends.

you quickly noticed the change in his mood and you turned to him, letting the movie play in the background. you leaned your head against his shoulder peering up at him through your eyelashes.

“eric,” you poked his leg. “you okay?”

he took in a sharp breath when he turned to look at you. he had just noticed how close you were. and for a short second, his eyes wandered over to your lips. he wondered at that moment, how they would feel against his own li-

“yes,” he breathed out, oddly breathless. “i’m fine, just a bit tired.”

you frowned, “we can stop if you want.”

“no, no,” he shook his head. “i want to spend time with you.”

“oh,” you simply said. you were surprised at his response and for an odd reason, your heart was thumping too. “okay.”

after a while, the two of you watched the movie in silence. the last time you guys watched this movie, the room was filled with laughter and jokes. now, there was some sort of tension.

you gasped suddenly, grabbing eric’s arm, making him jump. “they’re kissing! how bad can this movie get?”

it was then that eric realized it. after all this time, this platonic relationship that he thought was not platonic at all. eric likes you. he likes you as more than a friend. he thought about the times when you would take care of him when he was sick and how his face would get warm. it wasn’t from the fever. or he thought about the time when you once fell asleep on his shoulder and he never felt more at home.

“i don’t think it’s all that bad,” he blurted out, his cheeks turning red.

you paused the movie in disbelief, “what?”

“i- i mean,” he laughed nervously. “i need to get something off my chest, y/n.”

you were silent.

he took in a deep breath and took your hand in his, playing with your fingers with anxiousness.

“i think i…” he blushed. “i think i like you.”

…

“oh,” you stared at him, tilting your head. “i like you too.”

his hand tightened on yours, “i mean i don’t just like you. i mean that i like you as more than a friend. all those things they do in that movie… i want to do with you and i’m just realizing that.” when he noticed your silence, he panicked. “y-you don’t have to like me back! i just wanted to-”

what he didn’t expect was for you to lean up and press a kiss right on his lips. he immediately froze, his mouth dropping open as he looked at you with utter surprise.

“w-what was that for?” he touched his lips gently as if to test if this was a dream or not. 

“i already said it before, but you ignored me,” you pouted. “i said that i like you too.”

the two of you stared at each other for a while before bursting out into laughter. eric’s smile was so, so charming as he looked at you with soft eyes.

“i’m an idiot then,” he muttered.

“you really are,” you glared. “took you a while to realize.”

you pressed play on the movie. and of course, the next scene was of them kissing again.

“should we copy what they’re doing?” you asked, turning to him with a shy smile. “come and kiss me more.”

“of course,” he smirked, leaning in to press more kisses to your lips and cheeks. oh, how he loved this movie. he could kiss you forever now.

Number 20 is ‘Steve slowly falls in love with the Nurse that looks after old Peggy’ and was inspired by a rewatch I did of catws. I love this movie so much, I could watch it every day!

Peggy (still) lives in the US and not in the UK and she is not in a nursing home

She has a young nurse as a helper at her home, who is looking after her every day. Helping her with taking all the medications she needs, resting, and simply looking after her

after Steve found out she is still alive and lives not far away from the Headquarters in DC - and after he found the courage to go, he is a regular visitor

I imagined that Peggy is much fitter and not so frail and sick as in catws. So she isn’t exactly bedridden and also doesn’t suffer from dementia

Steve is immediately starstruck by the cute and lovely nurse that accompanies Peggy through the day and helps her whenever needed

he’d have to lie to deny he wasn’t also visiting so much to see more of her

He is much less subtle than he thinks, Peggy sees through him almost instantly

so after watching the two of them skitt around each other - steve is too shy to approach her + he feels still a little conflicted and Y/N won’t do it while she is working - she tells Steve: “Oh, just go ask her out. I can’t watch this any longer, as entertaining as it is. You’ll end up looking as old as I am before you talk yourself into it.”

Steve of course is flustered, both from being caught and that she was able to read him so easily

He feels hesitant and somewhat conflicted to make a move on her. I feel like he would be still caught up with the past and what he and Peggy had. Even if he is over the fact that they don’t have a chance anymore and it didn’t work out, he doesn’t feel ready to move on like that

but Peggy encourages him, she is their number 1 supporter and maybe also a little matchmaker

+ a little snippet of how a scene between them could look!

“Five, six….seven.”

There were seven blue pills in front of her, each in a different compartment, one for each day of the next week. Softly humming to herself, she grabbed the next packet. A small bottle of gastric protection, the yellowish pills were barely the size of her pinkie nail so had to be careful to not drop them. 

That’s when the sound of steps caught her ears. Actually it was the soft creaking of the wooden floorboards in the hallway, that she heard much earlier than the footsteps approaching the room. Looking up she saw the tall, blonde man stand in the doorframe.

“Is everything alright?”, she asked him, putting the bottle of pills on the table and turning to him. 

It was still too early for him to go. Normally he left just before five pm, except of course there was an emergency. But he didn’t seem to be in any rush, yet it was still nearly an hour before five. 

Steve shook his head. He looked uncertain standing there, his hands hidden deep in the pockets of his jeans, one-shoulder leaned against the frame. The man exuded confidence from every pore of his being, yet she could sense some hesitance.

“She fell asleep and I didn’t want to wake her.”

“Oh, alright. It must be the new medication,” she nodded. The new pills the doctor had ordered seemed to make her much sleepier. Peggy had already complained about it to her, but Y/N couldn’t do anything before the next scheduled doctor's appointment.

She had thought that would be it and Steve would say his goodbyes and go. Focusing back on prepping the medications, she, however, didn’t hear any goodbyes and when Y/N looked up again Steve was still standing in the exact same spot. Watching her.

“Is there something else?” His cheeks turned red upon being caught red-handed. She was curious but also cautious. He was handsome and always very nice and that intimidated her. She liked him and she knew she shouldn’t. 

Steve didn’t say anything, he tried to but ended up mumbling some nonsense before grimacing and rubbing his neck in embarrassment. Clearing his throat and refocusing he tried again.

“I, uhm. I wanted to tell you that I admire your work ethic. You are very patient and I’m impressed you are always smiling.” 

It was her turn to get red and become shy. Quietly mumbling her thank you, she couldn’t look him in the eyes.

Now they stood there, both red-faced and awkward.

“I should probably go now, don’t want to bother you any f-”

“You aren’t!” Surprised about her outburst and her interruption, she clasped her mouth shut. “You aren’t bothering me..”, she continued much softer, “Would you like to sit? I know you usually stay longer. You can still stay, keep me company. If you want to of course.”

A smile spread over Steve’s face, one that became a bit crooked the longer he smiled. One corner of his mouth was pulled much higher as he looked at her and nodded.

“I’d like to.”

I am so sorry c!pumpkinduo enjoyers but I have to get something off of my chest a lil.

Please I beg of you stop interpreting c!pumpkinduo (in manburg OR in Las Nevadas lore) as a healthy, loving dynamic. It’s like the biggest misinterpretation of a character dynamic I have seen in my whole life which has got to be an achievement. There were obviously silly and funny scenes between them, ones that made their relationship look like a good one and thats exactly the point. Toxic relationships are not a constant and unwavering hurt.

First reason, watch any Quackity manburg vod ever and pay attention to the semi-lore bits it is literally so obvious that for one, Schlatt did not love him back. Two, He did not respect Q, and three, anytime that was brought up it turned into threats. Anyone remember that one time Q stated c!Schlatt did not respect him and he just threatened to lobotomize Q so that he couldn’t think like that for himself? Because I sure do. It directly lead to c!Q canonically having a plan to impeach/execute him.

It was never carried through, honestly, but it’s the thought that counts. Suppose the good moments and bits of attention he got out of basically begging not to be made fun of for like two minutes worked out. Admittedly a lot of the making fun of was just them being silly, Schlatt telling him to go to the gym, calling him flatty patty and Q crying that one time but tears are tears ☠️

You guys forget the way that the two characters ended up. CQ brought up SERIOUSLY that he was tired of being disrespected and cast aside as an equal member of Manburg, and of being constantly mistreated, and Schlatt literally started to fight him. Like. Their marriage ended in a physical battle in which Q pulled out a crossbow to get him away and Schlatt taunted him for being a coward. Their marriage ended in cQuackity shooting him to death, and directly after he went to Pogtopia with hopes of actively working against him.

Though the biggest application to cPumpkinduo being blatantly toxic is the first Las Nevadas lore stream. The entire first section of it actually, which I was rewatching and gathering quotes from.

CQuackity explicitly stated several times that just the thought of being around cSchlatt makes him uncomfortable, and that he gets flashbacks/terrible memories when he’s with him. I genuinely do not know where people got the implications through any of his lore that this was a happy and loving relationship but it sure as hell wasn’t here. Cant be just me who hates ppl trying to take a canon abusive relationship and portray it as loving. Its like taking cdiscduo and being like omg best friends!! (But to what feels like a lesser extent)

Of course it wasn’t abuse to the extent that it was with cdiscduo or very typical violence you see in media, but it was still mentally abusive, and eventually they still got physical. (I could also talk ab how freaky it is for ppl to depict their relationship as s3xua11y abusive but thats for another time. Its annoyingly common.)

Another thing I notice people tend to do is, for some reason, say that c!sweaterduo is a better enemies to lovers dynamic or even ship Revived cSchlatt/Wilbur/Q, which if you think about for more than three fucking seconds youll see how weird that is. CSweaterduo legit just fucking despise each other not in the homoerotic, enemies yo lovers way, they just genuinely want each other to die. I promise making them get together at some point whether it be the elections or after revival is not the move you think it is. CPumpkinduo was a canonically abusive relationship, and adding cWilbur to the mix? Yeah, no. No thanks.

I can see cTntduo, but the complete mischaracterization of cSchlatt as a whole is just… Weird! Sorry, it’s weird. Making an abusive character loving and filled with guilt over his actions when that has never been canonically displayed (quite the opposite in fact) just to ship your favs is strange. Especially on the coumpkinduo end where cQ openly expressed that cSchlatt made him uncomfortable and upset just to think about because of the impression he left.

Gotta rewatch HZGG3.

Unpopular opinion: I thoroughly enjoyed HZGG3 as a kid , watched this front to back on VHS 2003-2004 from basically because it was one of the last VHS dramas we had. Also, at the time I was too young (dumb) to realize this was a sequel to part 1 and 2 (I distinctly remember going "didn't we borrow this set already" the day we hauled the boxes in front of the tv)

i was sooooo upset when Leo's VA changed. now when i rewatch i can handle it but when i hear 2k12 Leo's voice it's 100% the og VA. space season was...something. most of it is not my fave but there's tiny lil nuggets here and there that are either actually good or i've just gaslit myself into enjoying lmao, like leo spending all that time in the holodeck talking to splinter 🥺🥺🥺 the cheese phone is iconic. 2k12 def has some grade A hurt/comfort. plus mikey has his short lil mask ends and freckles for the first time, absolutely love hehe

oh the movie is so whack. when i saw it for the first time i was CONVINCED it was a sequel. i'm so curious how it got like greenlit and survived all the way to release. ugh yeah they should've left that cut scene fr!! literally, how was he supposed to learn how to lead...alone. how? why? my questions will never be answered i fear.

(which having read comics now, donna and wally not being in teen titans is a tragedy, god i love donna.) i like revisited them in sept. after a tmnt rewatch and re-fell in love with dick grayson lmao, decided to try out the comics and learned that there were more robins than just dick and have not been able to stop thinking about them since. i don't know how i didn't know. jason and tim are literally in yj s2. i had seen so many "batman adopts children like crazy" memes. how was i unaware? we'll never know. how about you, did you get in through comics or show/movies? (also, i assume dick is your fave robin; somehow mine is tim. i love them all desperately, to be clear, but at some point when i wasn't paying attention my soft spot for him swallowed me whole lmao)

Same for me! I can accept his new voice actors, but in fics, I usually hear his og VA unless they specify his hurt leg/changed voice. LOL no yeah the space season had it’s moments, plus it gave us Chompy! Oof Leo being so attached to his dad and losing him like that… only for him to lose Splinter again and for real later on 😭. The freckles and short mask were so cute for Mikey! It made it 10x more effective when Mikey would use his big puppy dog eyes against Leo, and Leo would fold 😂.

Yeah!! 2007 is actually supposed to be a sequel of sorts to the live action 1990s tmnt movies! And then there was supposed to be a sequel to 2007 with Mikey joining the Foot to save his family or something. We could’ve had it all 😭.

Love that The Last Ronin is the only one you’ve read 😆. I enjoyed that comic until maybe the last 2 issues or so, they felt a bit weaker than the other issues. I know they’re doing a Last Ronin video game, would love it if they did some animated movie about it or something.

Ohh Teen Titans/YJ gotcha (and right?? how dare they leave out Donna 😭). That was basically my intro to it all as well I believe. The multiple Robin reveal is always so fun 😆. Aalskdja idk how you were unaware once watching YJ S2, but I won’t fault you for it bc there was just a lot of shit going on in that season 😆. And yeah Dick is definitely my fav, probably grew attached to him from YJ S1 though I always liked Robin best from the Teen Titans show, and that’s also Dick. And aww Tim’s your fav 💖. Dick and Tim have such a lovely brotherly bond.

Also, have you ever watched Supernatural or Merlin? Because if you love platonic/brotherly love, those two will fill your cup x10. (I mean well… there are seasons of SPN where Sam and Dean fight, and I hate those seasons the most lmao, but when they’re on the same page, they’re amazing together in the most crazy way possible.)

Anyways, some Nya appreciation over here amirite? (long worded appreciation under the cut haha)

 fr I really love her, as a character and her values that she struggled with throughout the series. The value of Identity and Failure is something that was handled very maturely imo, and I esp love that she’s badass without being mean at all. I really like how Nya is just cool just because she's self made and fights her way to the top without that mean personality that’s associated with badass female characters sometimes... (I also see the appeal in cool hardcore girlboss characters haha I have some favs that are like that too, it’s just all I see sometimes like bro... ;-;)

Rewatching recently made me appreciate her even more, ignoring the funky love triangle stuff in s3 ahhahahaha, I liked how she was really mature as a friend at the start of Skybound just outright rejecting Jays feeling so he wouldn’t be lead on. She regularly has her moments in the show, and I love her relationship with everyone on the team (albeit lacking in sibling bonding ahu). I like that she has so much personality beyond being the inventor or “the girl”, she’s hotheaded at times, can be a bit impatient but overall a competent member of the team.

She literally brought herself up by being samurai X, and holds a special attachment to it. Someone on twit pointed out the scene in s7 when she’s packing up the samurai X gear and is legitimately sadden by inheriting her powers. Like you feel bad, along with the fact someone else took up samurai X also proved she can’t even go back to it even if she really wanted to was a huge step for her as a character.

I will always find her dying breath in s6 stuck w/ me,

 “It was always a boys club” 

like zamn, you’re dying and that’s what you really feel. None of that “girl wants to be a part of the team trope” at all, she wanted to be her own person and it shows. 

Which is something viewers kinda feel too? Crisis on what defines us as a person, is it our interests/hobbies (samurai X)? our professions? (water ninja) whether self imposed or forced upon us, what dictates a pass or fail to as a person? We want to be in control of our lives despite everything else is out of our control, we have to learn to not dwell on it and let it drag us down. I think out of most of the characters she’s the only one that is really cared for?? like she gets developed and goes through her arc consistently despite not having a focus season until seabound.

So speaking of HAHA I enjoyed seabound, was super stoked that Nya got a focus season but DAMN! Do I wish(haha) her end quote wasn’t the cookie quote but something similar from Maya and the Three:

 “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me” 

 bc that was her whole arc, fighting to define herself from what she WANTS to do against what she HAS to do. 

The cookie quote just had a layer of being so defeatist about the whole thing when that’s not Nya at all, I really just wished her final tie in as a character was resolving this identity value in her own way and not giving up her everything just because “that’s how the cookie crumbles” like zamn. :(((( It felt like the whole Nyad sacrifice thing was supposed to be a “I chose this” moment, not because she was supposed be like nyad, not because she’s the daughter of maya, not because she’s the water ninja but only because it was her choice in the matter to become Nyad, save ninjago and those she loves over her own future. Would’ve been a perfect call back to skybound too (in EP The Last Resort) when she threw Jay into the travelers tea:

Nya: But if I'm ever gonna have a say in our future, it's me who has to protect you because it's you who has the wish.

Jay: What are you doing?

Nya: I'm speaking up for my future. And it's never felt better... (then the whole save me Jay stuff)

because she’s once again back into that position of having a say in her future, along with saving Jay, but at the cost of what she holds dear since the beginning, her own Identity. And it just so... AAAAAAAAAAA really love Nya man. ;-;-;-;-;

Author’s note: I really like this request especially since the fourth movie is one of my favs, so thank you for requesting it! Just like George's one shot, this will be heavily inspired by the movie (I'm essentially putting the reader into the movie). Before proceeding, I highly recommend rewatching these scenes lol!

Gryffindor practice for the Yule Ball

Fred asks Angelina to the ball (obviously we're pretending it's George who asks her <3)

It was fairly rare to have the Gryffindors sit together in a room mastered by the head teacher. Nevertheless, the entirety of Gordic Gryffindor's current house members has gathered in the spacious room, a million things running through their minds.

McGonagall looked fierce as she appropriated the room like something very serious was going to happen.

Your thoughts seemed to be correct as she whisked her wand in the air, pulling you away from your boyfriend to stand on a completely different side of the room.

You frowned, Fred did too. He was just about to swoop in and kiss you.

"D-did she just?" You asked puzzledly, not quite believing your luck. A couple from seventh year were eating each other's faces in the corner, but she picked you and Fred instead?!

"Yeah," Hermione mused, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "I think she did."

Fiercely blushing, you sat back down. "I cannot believe my luck."

"What do you mean?" Hermione asked. She herself has been appointed to stand with the girls on the other side, leaving her two best friends to themselves and the boys.

"This is the sixth time she has caught us," you told her, catching Minerva's eyes in that exact moment. You wouldn't be surprised if the woman heard you; she is a cat most of the time, and cats have significantly better hearing than humans do.

"The Yule ball has been a tradition of the-" Professor McGonagall attempted although her words were cut by Flinch as he plotted around the huge record player. "-Triwizard Tournament since its inception."

She shared nothing new.

So, what is she on about?

You glanced at your boyfriend, knowing which one out of the two he is immediately. Fred laughed with his twin about Merlin knows what, picking at Ron in the process. You shook your head, focusing your attention back to your head teacher.

"On Christmas Eve night," she continued, slowly walking in a straight line across the floor. "we and our guests gather in the Great Hall for a night of well-mannered frivolity."

Ginny leaned her head against her shoulder, getting bored. You smiled at the act, deciding to share her enthusiasm by mimicking it.

After a while of being stuck in a singular position you had decided to place your chin on the top of her head instead.

"As representatives of the host school I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because the Yule ball is first and foremost..." The dreaded sentence was coming. You could see it in her facial expression. "A dance."

Ginny's head flew up suddenly, banging against yours so hard you had to hold your jaw in pain. "Oh Y/N, I'm so sorry!" she squeaked, palpably petrified with what she has done to her older brother's girlfriend.

"No, no," you waved your hand, testing your jaw by moving it in circular motions. "It's alright Ginny."

"But what if it gives you a bruise?" She asked frightened. "The ball is just around the corner!"

Your eyes widened at that and before you could soothe the girl, Hermione had butted in. "She'll be fine Ginny. Besides, Fred is so smitten by her he genuinely won't care."

"True," you added in agreement, holding your chin after wrapping your free hand around the smaller girl to cheer her up. Ginny calmed down and returned to her bright, usual self soon after.

The quick accident helped you better ignore the agonizing groans of the boys that generously outmatched the giggling. While most of the girls, including yourself, enjoyed the aspect of dancing with a gentleman, the boys didn't like the thought of becoming one so much.

You searched for Fred's eyes the second you could, finding him already looking at you from afar. He was quick in mouthing an 'Are you okay?' and pointing to his own jaw for better explanation.

You nodded but still mouthed an 'ow' for dramatics sake.

Fred knew his little sister's strength, but he also knew your pain tolerance and that made him less concerned. Fred then sent you a wink accompanied by a wicked grin of excitement. Being a couple played in your favor excellently.

Most of the girls feared being partnerless at the ball, so you felt very content with yourself. You secured yourself both an escort and a dance partner by just loving a boy that was able to be serious if you ever asked him to be.

"Silence!" McGonagall raised both her hands in the air, "The house of Godric Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizard word for nearly 10 centuries."

She then continued, "I will not have you in the course of a single evening besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling bumbling band of baboons."

"Babbling what now?" You asked in amazement. She was very creative with her words; you give her that.

From the corner of your eye you saw your boyfriend monkeying around with his brother, staying true to his teasing nature by making fun of McGonagall's words.

"Now. To dance is to let the body..." She took a deep breath as she said that, "...breathe. Inside every girl a secret swan slumbers, longing to burst free and take flight."

Fred's younger brother, Ron, decided to take that inspirational moment to comment about Eloise Midgen, a girl that was sitting very close to you, Hermione and Ginny. You shook your head, not liking his comment at all.

McGonagall heard it but finished her sentence nevertheless, saying something about boys having a lion inside of them. "Mr. Weasley."

Ron looked at her through a fringe of red hair, "Yes..."

"Would you join me, please." She was already by his side as she said that.

"I'd dance with that woman anytime." A girl from your year mumbled, creating quite big hysterics of agreement among the girls. You started to laugh, Ron's face and the girls' comments becoming too much for you to handle.

Ron on the other hand sat awkwardly and glanced around the room in which his housemates were all eagerly waiting for his slip, panicked beyond comprehension. Even Harry who had his arm bandaged due to being an actual contestant in the Tournament, eagerly pushed him up with his healthy one.

McGonagall had Ron in her vise hold. The poor boy couldn't go anywhere without making a complete fool of himself. The music started to play, and Fred and George were loving the sight in front of them as they kept throwing in whistles and remarks that made everyone smile. A years' worth of teasing material had just appeared without them doing so much as moving a finger to make it happen.

On the other side of the room, you weren't breathing. Literal tears formed in your eyes when Ginny made a joke on Ron's account.

"Everybody come together! Boys on your feet!"

You had coughed up your laughter immediately, although the giggles seemed to be a permanent thing. You stood to your feet and dashed across the room for Fred after hearing a fifth year tell her friend how she was going to ask him to partner up.

You leaped into his arms, relieved to have snatched him before anyone else could.

"Woah there, love," Fred mused, placing his hand on your waist like Professor McGonagall had instructed. While teasing his younger brother, Fred managed to pick up the essential parts of the dance because he didn't want to tramp all over your feet and have to carry you to Madam Pomfrey. "Thought I'd leave you hanging?"

Although Fred didn't mind hoisting you up into a princess-carry and acting out a heroic save, he was, quite frankly terrified of the wrath you would unleash on him if he was the reason you wouldn't be able to wear your heels to the ball.

"Actually," your laughter broke down as you two started to dance in steady pace around the room. "I didn't want you to partner up with someone else."

Genuine confusion crossed his features after that, "Come again?"

"I heard several girls talk about how they're going to ask you partner up with them," you mumbled just as the tune changed and he swiftly helped you twirl before pulling you back so you were flush against his chest. "Are you sure they weren't talking about George? He actually-"

"Is your name Fred?" You cut him off.

"Yeah..."

You gave him a look that said well-there-you-go.

"If it makes you feel any better," Fred whispered, voice raspy as he gripped your waist and pulled you against him as if you weren't already glued together before. His mouth slowly found its way to your neck and you shivered under the proximity. "I only have eyes for you."

You didn't get to enjoy the moment as you heard Ron scream, his lust for sibling revenge overtaking. "Professor, Fred and Y/N are snogging! It's kind of disgusting, actually!"

"Mr. Weasley! Miss Y/LN!"

"Not again!" Fred and you said simultaneously.

You sat in between Fred and Neville in the great hall, working mostly with Fred on an essay Snape had assigned for you during this study session. You talked quietly with Neville while at it too, sharing deep compassion as you helped answer some questions he had for you about Herbology, keeping professor Sprout out of your mouth as much as possible. You didn't want Snape to find out you were talking about a subject that wasn't his.

Ron's muttering was very much loud as he kept going on about how depressed he was. "Well maybe you should just get yourself a girlfriend then. Like me." Fred whispered proudly, eyeing Snape who was walking around the hall like a soldier.

You mimicked Fred's smirk and turned to Ron, "It's not as easy as it looks."

"Getting a girlfriend, you mean?" Ron said, his face falling into an ever deeper frown when you nodded. "Bloody hell... How is that supposed to help?"

"It isn't," you told him. "Fred's just speaking nonsense. Don't listen to him."

Your boyfriend just grinned, slinging his arm over your shoulder but taking it off as soon as Snape glared at it. You swallowed a bubble of laughter that threatened to slip past your lips.

Out of the blue, George scribbled something on a piece of paper, folding it and throwing it at Ron, apparently not trusting his voice to say whatever he wanted to out loud.

You watched as Ron read it through, turning to your boyfriend, the quill in your hand now long forgotten. "What did George write?"

"Get a move on or all the good ones will have gone." Fred whispered, pressing a kiss to your temple as proof to you that he took no part in that message.

"Good ones..." you muttered mockingly. "Pig."

Fred laughed, stuffing his mouth into the sleeve of his shirt to muffle it. He then turned to his brother and told him what you thought of his message. George leaned behind Fred to scowl at you carefully, so Snape doesn't see.

You both stuck out your tongues to each other like kids at the same time and while you returned straight to work, the younger twin continued to converse with Ron. Eventually George threw a paper ball at Angelina and you watched as the paper ball flew past your eyes, missing you by a millimeter. George had made a good shot as the paper ball bounced off Angelina's body. It urged her to look at George as he acted out the question, "You want to go to the ball with me?"

Angelina nodded, surprising you.

"Seriously?" You asked your close friend.

"What?" She shrugged, "He's cute."

Your raised brow catched Angelina off guard. "And funny..."

"As long as you don't mistake him for Fred," You whispered, "I support it."

Fred chuckled next to you.

"I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone asked me!" Hermione exclaimed, most likely because of Ron. You weren't paying attention to either of them, only starting to do so when Hermione stormed across the hall to Snape and handed him her finished assignment. She turned to grab her things whilst putting Ron in his place. "And I said yes!"

"Please don't tell me Ron asked her to the ball as a last resort," You sighed once Hermione disappeared behind the doors.

"I'm afraid he did, love," Fred answered.

You shook your head at Ron in disappointment, "Fred, did I ever tell you how much I'm grateful for you?"

Fred's smile intensified as he shook his head. "No, I don't think you did."

For that, you listened to your gut and grabbed him by his red Gryffindor tie, pulling him to you until your lips connected. Unfortunately, the kiss lasted for only a second due to Snape crawling around the place like the snake he is, but the brief kiss still left you breathless. Left you wanting more. "Want to get out of here?"

"Mhmm," you said with an eager nod of your head. Your brain was mushed and you only had time to whisper to Neville where he could find the answers about the Bouncing Bulb he's been desperate to find more about before Fred pulled you to your feet and grabbed both your stuff. In return, you collected both Fred and yours assignment and stuffed them into Snape's arms. "Have a lovely day, Professor."

"As I said Ron," Fred said smiling, glancing at you and Snape. "Better go get yourself a girlfriend…before the good ones are taken."

"I think the bloody best one is taken already," Ron mumbled with a pout, every male close to him responding in agreement.

Fred winked at them all, a winning smirk plastered on his face as he grabbed your hand and eagerly pulled you outside to do whatever your hearts desired in that moment.

before tumblr and gintama i actually wrote a whole fic on ao3 for todoroki, which i think was my first public piece anyway? it’s kind of funny how the reason i got into writing was purely because i got fed up of sifting through ao3 and i went “alright. if no one’s gonna do it, i will.”

ALSO MAAMS YOU’RE FROM ENGLAND TOO???? i know this may not be extremely obvious because i tend to keep my works neutral (i tend to write in the standardised american way save for the main words like, ‘favourite’ ‘colour’ etc because i don’t want people reading things in a british accent… even though mine isn’t very noticeable, it’s just very standard, not chavvy or essex etc, it’s honestly a pet peeve. thats why i use pants, mom, grocery store) and we have freaking nothing, as you already know!! there’s a hmv near me and i was SO excited to see their anime collection just to see it was chock full of mainstreams like one piece, naruto, dbz 😐

but i managed to snatch an aot poster for £3!! and it’s really big too! it’s bigger than a1 so it’s a chunky boy

yeah they totally have a statue of him! they’re doing a jjk exhibit in general. and at the train station they have cutouts of the characters, they might be to size too? ‘m not sure about the height or anything but i do know that they’re there. there’s also a haikyuu store that shows the players hand prints and you can put your hands flat against the displays to see the difference 🥺🥺🥺

going to japan in general is such a bucket list for me, there’s so much i wanna try but i’d love to go when the cherry blossoms are in season!

Helllu! I see you've been watching lots of chinese/korean dramas. Can you rec your favs?

 Hello!! Of course I can n.n (sorry it took so long to answer, I kept making changes to this aha). I’ve decided to list my current top 3 favourites, because apparently I’ve watched a lot.

Okay guys, here goes.

Chinese dramas:

So lately the past year or so of my life has been consumed by cdrams (and recently kdramas by extension), but here are some of my faves that I’ve watched.

The Untamed

Anyone who follows my blog knows my crazy obsession with this amazing show. It’s based off of a novel called the Grandmaster of demonic cultivation (has an anime with the same name– s2 is slowly being released right now). The story takes place in a world ruled by the evil Wen Sect. Wei Ying and Lan Zhan cross paths and become good friends (hardcore bromance). Wei Ying tries to save innocent Wen from death, and in the end, he lost almost everything. After going missing for 16 years, the pair find each other again and try to find the real villain.

It’s full of action, mystery, adventure, heart ache, supernatural ghouls, longing, whumping, and an amazingly attractive cast that should honestly be illegal. If you’re looking for a show with lots of emotional pain that will swallow you whole, then you’re in the right place. 

P/s. the 2 mains sing their love song which makes it that much more beautiful/painful.

Guardian

Another drama based off of a novel, with gay bros, longing, and adventure. Shen Wei is an immortal (kind of), and currently a university professor that has been waiting centuries for his lover/friend (Yunlan) to repay him for what he gave Shen Wei and will do anything for him. Zhao Yunlan is the head of the SID, a department that solves mysteries and crimes with supernatural origins. Together they help save others, solve mysteries, and save the world from Shen Wei’s evil twin brother. 

 All I can say about this one is that if you haven’t seen it, you’re seriously missing out (but warning, the cgi is horrible lmao). It was also super amazing seeing Zhu Yilong in a main role like this. The king of micro-expression seriously doesn’t let us down. 

Legend of Fuyao

This show had consumed my soul for about a full month and a half until I finished it. When I finished watching, it left me sad that it was over. Got to be honest, the ending is still a bit confusing, but is still worth the watch. This is an epic love story about Fuyao, an orphan looking for adventure, but gets caught in a fight between kingdoms and destiny. Along the way, she meets the Crown Prince and they fall in love, but destiny has their fates already decided. They are on the opposite sides of good and evil and need to decide whether one lives and the other dies. It’s got amazing fight scenes and a really attractive male lead (his first lead in a show I believe). Super amazing acting, because let’s be real, any show with Yang Mi is an automatically good show. She’s just too amazing.

Other honourable mentions: Granting you a dreamlike life, Eternal Love, Untouchable Lovers, the Rise of Phoenixes, Detective L– were amazing shows I could rewatch until I die.

Side note: I am super excited for Xiao Zhan’s Jade Dynasty. So hopefully that movie will be available to us soon.

Korean Dramas:

All right guys. I’ve only recently started watching korean shows about half a year ago or so, so I haven’t seen too many, but the ones I have seen I’ve fallen into a deep love with that keeps me going lol.

My Country: The New Age (ongoing)

This show only has 8 episodes so far and I can’t tell you all how amazing this show is. Words can literally not even describe how much it’s consuming every waking second of my life right now. I think the main reason is Seon ho, who started off as someone you respect, but is constantly doing bad shit. He tries to salvage good things from the wrecks he keeps making, but who knows how long that will last. He is ambiguous and slowly turning into a villain. He is slowly turning into the things he wants to destroy and it’s heartbreaking. My heart aches for him and Hwi all the damn time. I just want them to be bff again and stop fighting, but of course this won’t happen. This show has political turmoil and a country at war with a royal family and council who just wants to watch the world burn. Of course, this means manipulating everyone to get what they want, but both Hwi and SH are trying to play their own game, accidentally putting themselves against each other constantly. Watch for heart break, friendship (sometimes), and very attractive male leads aha.

Also, the music is 1000000 thumbs up. All I can say is PLEASE WATCH IT AND FREAK OUT WITH ME.

Black

I don’t want to spoil too much about this show because it’s honestly an experience. It’s about a girl who can see when people are going to die because of the shadows that follow them. She meets a childhood friend, who has a secret, and he asks her to help him solve crimes and protect people from dying, but of course he has his own plans. Get ready for a funny and badass female lead guys.

It’s the first korean drama I watched and will always be one of my faves. It’s an incredible murder-mystery story with more layers than a damn onion. It’ll keep you on your toes and the ending makes me cri evry tiem.

Arthdal Chronicles

At first I thought this show was kind of weird, but an episode in and I was hooked. This show is difficult to explain, but it starts with a war between Arth and the Neanthal. 2 legendary babies get separated and live in opposite parts of the country. This show is hard to describe but it follows the 3 mains, Eunsom, Tanya, and Saya (and Tagon/ Taelha lol) and their fight through tragedy, and sometimes hell on Arth (lol – like hell on earth – am I funny yet). It’s all about a fight for power and revenge among the tribes. Every single character in this show has a different reason, but they all want power to get revenge, basically.

The fantasy aspect of this show and the different ‘species’ are incredible. It does get very political, but the fun of it is all the plotting, and how the characters fix their plans that don’t work out. Half way through I kept screaming at my TV for the mains (Tanya/Saya specifically) to just fkking talk to each other ughhh. Also, Saya will be my favourite unstable boy forever. 

It has 18 episodes on netflix so far, but just signed up for 2 more seasons (thank god because if they stopped at 18 eps I’d pull a Rosa Diaz and kill everyone and then myself -.-”). I can’t wait for it to come back. GIVE ME MORE CONTENT.

Other honourable mentions: Hwarang, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung (not finished it yet, which is why it’s not up in my top 3), Missing 9, W Two worlds, Warrior Baek Dong Soo.

Hello again ☺️Yes, that would have been really cool! I already read two of your recomnendations and i love them so thank you again for sharing! I can understand you being unsure of your writing but i bet there are people who will love it. Judging from how you answer your asks and how much you love John i have no doubt that i would love it. But if you dont wanna post it anywhere i would completely understand too. (1)

Im glad i came around to like Root cause otherwise it would have been hard to watch season 4 & 5 cause she appears a lot. I think part of it is cause i watched it witch my family and my dad loves her so i started to like her more too (you know who you love sth cause someone else loves it?) and then eventually i liked her to. Shaw i loved from day one and i loved her sibling energy with John. The John and Shaw dynamic was one of my favorites. I love their teasing and their chaotic energy (2)

As for Shoot i think its kinda cool that the writers just went with it cause of the chemistry and i like Shoot a lot. John and Harold would be amazing too (i mean whats better than one queer couple? Two queer couples!) And there are some parallels between the ships so there was room for both of them. Eventhough Harold and Grace is cute too. And i feel John has chemistry with almost everyone (not always romantic chemistry but also platonic chemistry if thats a Thing 😂) and (3)

in Addition to rinch i also really liked John with Zoe. The only one he had zero chemistry with was the theraphist imo. That ship was just weird. I wish they would have used that time for more Rinch scenes instead. -- yes someone who agrees about the happy end! I dont understand people who wish for a sad end. Like John is my fave character ever and i just want him to be happy with his newfound odd family and maybe someday adopt a cute baby with Harold or become an uncle or idk just be happy (4)

But in my Imagination he didnt die and someday he and Harold retired and started their quieter Happy life with Bear. --- yeah poi Reddit loves the later seasons and hates the first and i noticed they can get a bit mean with people who dont agree (thats why i only read and never write anything). Also said you could skip most of S1 which is just sad cause its a great season 😔 i will accept that i lost validity (is this even a Word?) for liking Root 😂 also yea 4x20 is the ep with the carter hallucinations so check it out. I appreciate your support ! In the long run idk if it's healthy for me. Like a few months ago I fell back into ace attorney and I read a lot of fics about Miles being suicidal and it affected me negatively. Sometimes I purposefully seek out suicide fics. And it may not be the most healthy thing to do. So I'm not sure about that fic. Bc I do wanna write it, but idk if it'd be healthy, as catharsis, or unhealthy, as rumination. I mean I've been writing that body horror fic with some projection of my body issues and it's fine. But yeah I'm pretty sure that if I ever finish it I think I'll post it – after all I posted a fic in which John jumped off a bridge a long while ago before I got suicidal (foreshadowing my own life here lmao). I also wanna try to work on my other wips

Yeah I see, that's understandable. Ngl Root makes me not motivated to get to these seasons during my rewatch (which technically wouldn't be a rewatch). It's wild how I feel nothing for Shaw (she do be kinda hot tho,,,, muscles,,,,,) but I think it's mostly bc I wasn't that interested in her back then and it's been so long since I watched the show I don't remember shit about her. She'd be able to grow on me I think. Yeah I've seen a lot of posts about that "mayhem twins" dynamic around here it does sound cool. Also it's refreshing to have a male/female relationship that isn't turned into a forced romance. But I'll always have a soft spot for S1 and its four core characters.

It's nice if they have chemistry, I didn't feel like they did. Yeah I'm still disappointed that they didn't go for Rinch too. I mean come on their chemistry is so painfully obvious ! I dislike the word queer but mood pls just give me canon Rinch I'm fucking begging hhhhhhh. I'm quite sure the notion of chemistry works with non romantic relationships as well. John is definitely good with people. He looks scary and brooding but he's just a good man who wants to help people ! I love him so much and same he's my fav character of all time !! Also I love seeing him interact with kids he's so good with them. But I also love when he's being an absolute badass. Damn I always forget about Grace gkjdfkjfd I don't have anything against her though, Harold and her are cute together. (Not much into the grace/harold/john OT3 tho, I've seen it around after return 0 but :/ not my thing. But hey good for people who like it.)

I liked John and Zoe too. Even if he had chemistry with Iris it's so cringe, didn't think poi would fall as low as portraying such a relationship between a therapist and a patient. Guess that shows the decrease in quality in the later seasons. Sad they did that shit when as you said they could have showed more Rinch. Like come ooon Rinch is just. Right fucking here. Just make it canon you cowards.

Yeah fuck sad endings (John didn't die obviously) I want my men to be happy and in love and live a good life together with their dog is that too much to ask. OHH THIS IS A STORY well i was 2.5yo when it started and a lady my dad worked with used to love it and talk about it so apparently being an annoying toddler learning to talk i kept bugging my dad about it (even tho i probably had no clue what it was about) but my ever sensible mam was like u literally cannot watch this show with a toddler it will TERRIFY her but then when i was about 3-4 he finally let me watch it and i was obsessssssed and anyone who has met me irl i feel like if you watched it you’d just be like “oh,, ,this is why she’s that way” bc i was raised on it i’m dramatic and blunt i can’t help it but that’s also why i had not much memory of the first couple of seasons so i needed a rewatch badly

Hi! Ok so I'm totally taking you up on your offer and gonna send in some stuff! So, I did a rewatch recently and took a few notes (mostly following 5 bc his concept and interactions are just so fascinating to me) and I noticed some stuff! 1] none if the kids have practically ANY physical interaction unless it's a fight or Allison and Vanya. Idk about you, but to me, that implies an oddly formal relationship even tho they're family and makes 5 and the handler that much stranger (1/?)

(2/?) And gives it that much of a contrast. I think someone on here counted that she touches him like 20 times or something? Idk BUT 2) there is such a clear divide between the “older” and “younger” siblings bar Diego and Klaus that it almost feels like 2 different families at times and it’s really interesting! 3) only 3 siblings have canon PTSD flashbacks/visions if we exclude Vanya during her breakdown: 5 and Klaus obviously, but also Allison, which is really interesting and plays into how

(3/3) Her growth bc of Claire. 4) 5 had to see his dead siblings, we know this, but he was also the one holding the cloth over Allison’s neck when Vanya attacked her, which is a horrifying detail but I love it. 5) there were 2 extra seats at the dining table in the flashback of all the kids! It’s probably not important, but with the shows attention to detail I can’t help but wonder. Also I’m sorry I just completely dumped on you but I wanted to know your thoughts 😅😅 that and I love your metas

yeAH my sister pointed out to me at one point that the Hargreeves familiarity with violence was alarming in that a lot of their physical interactions with one another were… violent. Diego fighting with Luther at the funeral. Klaus smacking Five across the face at the eyeball place. Luther choking Klaus. Luther choking Vanya. Ben punching Klaus. Like genuinely a concerning amount of their interactions with one another involve some form of violence oof and none of them really apologize for any of it either. It’s accepted and made to seem almost normal which says all manner of bad things about their family dynamic rip

BUT they also have interactions I feel are at odds with that - Vanya taking care of Five’s arm, Diego tying up Klaus to detox, Klaus attempting to comfort Luther even after literally just being smacked around by him, Diego with Klaus at the vet bar, Klaus and Five’s conversation on the steps of MeriTech where Five tells Klaus about Dolores - just these soft in between moments where they look after or confide in one another

and all of those moments are private, they’re one on one whereas in a group they tend to fight and put up walls and argue which says to me that collectively the family wasn’t allowed to show weakness (thanks Reggie) and so they fight in order to protect their weak points before anyone can attack them

there’s like, the four A’s of how people handle conflict and one of those is aggression. It’s attacking because you feel like if you aren’t on the attack then you’re the one being attacked. It’s raising your voice and being the aggressor and starting conflict because you’re trying to protect yourself, because you’ve learned that it’s kill-or-be-killed and if you aren’t on the offense then you’re being hurt (i know there’s avoid and appease and i can’t remember the other one off the top of my head whoops)

so what i’m saying is that when there’s witnesses, when there’s a group, they’re on the offensive from the start. But alone, there’s a little more wiggle room for weakness. Alone is at night when there’s no training left in the relative safety of their own rooms. Alone with one other person is private, and privacy is safety in a house like that.

So there’s this paradoxical roughness and softness with one another, they were in competition with each other no doubt but they’re also family. Reginald pitted them against one another, but there’s no possible way to keep walls up ALL the time, you know?

but yeah i have a lot of feelings about the kids interactions with one another to say the least u picked a topic i like to ramble about as is clear from all this text and i didn’t even talk about the handler and how i feel like her touch was with the primary motivation to make Five uncomfortable and to punish him for his rebellion

okay there is more to this ask and this response is going to get so long I can already tell sorry in advance

and yeah the divide between the siblings with ‘older’ and ‘younger’ siblings is interesting!! Luther-Diego-Allison are one-two-three and are sort of purposefully portrayed as the older siblings. I definitely think Luther and Allison were off in their own little world as kids and they were definitely the golden children, the good kids, the ones who didn’t really question their father and avoided a lot of punishments. They were set apart from the rest of the family - and I think a lot of that was on purpose.

Because Reginald Hargreeves pitted these children against one another, in a move that honestly was smart even as it speaks to the fact that he’s a horrifying human being: because if there is discord among the ranks and rivalries and pettiness then the kids aren’t banding together against the true threat in the household - they’re going at one another’s throats instead of Reginald’s. The rivalry between Luther and Diego is probably the clearest portrayed tbh but Five was clearly also held up as someone to beat, someone who was competition (”he ADAPTED”)

so it’s almost like there are three groups really - the ‘good’ kids, the middle kids, and the disappointments. You have Luther and Allison at the top, Diego and Five and maybe Ben in the middle (and Five is only in there because he’s too headstrong, too willful to be at the top because Reggie doesn’t appreciate those that can think for themselves), and then you have Klaus and Vanya way down at the bottom. And there’s crossover relationships between the tiers (Diego and Luther’s rivalry, Five and Vanya’s solidarity, Klaus and Ben being bros etc.) but they were divided up on purpose tbh

alright moving on i could yell about how reginald fucked up a bunch of perfectly good kids all day lmao but

Allison is such an interesting character in general??? like she’s not even in my top three for the show but damn if tua doesn’t have some seriously interesting characters in the show hot damn like her journey from petulant and manipulative child familiar and comfortable with violence to an adult trying desperately to piece her family back together and prove to herself that she can be the good mother she desperately wants to be to Claire

i feel like i yell an awful lot about luther and allison for someone who has them towards the bottom of their list of favs tbh whoops

also GOD how dare you remind me of Five’s Extra Trauma regarding that scene holy heck like is wasn’t enough he had to find his siblings dead bodies in the apocalypse he also has to press his hands to his sister’s throat and literally see the life fade from her eyes as they rush to save her?? like shit man and that’s a concept that i haven’t seen anyone really do anything about as well like actually @ authors who aren’t me bc i have a dozen other aus to write on top of my various ideas, someone please address this

also do you think that’s the reason that Five initially agrees to killing Vanya at the bowling alley?? because he’s thinking about Allison’s blood hot against his hands and he missed the entirety of the apology/Vanya freaking out scene???? I mean even though I yell about Five’s motivation being his family I don’t think it was out of character for him to turn on Vanya because in his mind stopping the apocalypse has become so entwined with saving his family that they might as well be the same goal

if it helps though i don’t think five would ever actually kill Vanya even if he did okay the plan like look the boy could have jumped behind vanya himself and snapped her neck like did you WATCH the fight scene in Griddy’s holy shit but he does Not do that because he doesn’t want his sister to die and he especially doesn’t want to be the one to kill her and that’s the tea on that

There’s Grace and Pogo if you count them, but i mean otherwise I think it’s just a feature of a mansion to have a bigass dining room table that can’t possibly fit the entire family

Like, it's okay to be wrong and make mistakes, just do your best to make sure you're improving yourself afterwards, instead of dwelling on it too much

I didn't expect this topic at all and I am so glad it was talked about, thankfully my intrusive thoughts do not bother me as much as I realized other people's do. And I never saw anyone talking about this before, which is why it makes this video so important. I saw a tweet recently about someone saying that it is okay if you think about weird things, the important is that you never act on them, that's what makes you a good person. But I think this video really explains it far better and I never realized how common something like this was? So yeah another time in which I've been educated and couldn't be happier about it. These people really are bringing light to the world gah I LOVE THEM.

i don’t remember much abt how the hollow backstory goes, but the whole native american origins feels like it will just delve into racism!! i’m not excited abt it!! at all !! (which is just like.. so unfortunate in so many ways bc there are some fucking awesome stories that could be told abt ancient native witches and yet i do not trust this show for it at all!!)

mad and sad that the only rebekah/hope scene so far is the hollow possessing baby girl and using her to kill her aunt

freya panicking at the thought of losing all her siblings bc she’s supposed to be the big sister who fixes everything, who has searched from them for a literal thousand years hurts my whole soul.

big q: should i watch supernatural.

YES. i mean, i got @westvillard and @polysorscha to start watching it, and i also got @discountalien-pancake back into it, and i’ve also had some anons say they started watching it again (or shipping destiel) from my blog, and i really love the show, so i’m always gonna rec it. but in the beginning years, it did a lot of things wrong, and in the middle seasons it made a lot of bad decisions (killing a lesbian character, for example), but recently the show is far beyond its queerbaiting roots and is doing a lot better to write what the fans of the show want to see, rather than catering to the homophobes, wincest shippers, and people who hate Cas. ofc some of the writers of the show aren’t great (for example, i really dislike the duo Bucklemming, as do most of the spn blogs i follow), but even more of them are really fantastic (Dabb, Yockey, Bobo, Glynn, off the top of my head). 

my advice to people is to only watch the most important episodes of the early seasons (i can clarify those for anyone, since i did the same for Maxine) since it does kinda stagnate at some points. i don’t really like one season more than any other, but i tend to like the later ones simply bc the narrative choices are a lot better. i just finished a rewatch of s9 - s13, which i think are some of the best seasons to date and really cemented my love of destiel, and my love for Sam and Dean as brothers. Dean is ofc my fav character, bc i really relate to him in nearly every way, but Sam really comes into his own and moves out of that “ugh younger siblings” box i’d had him in before (he reminds me of my younger sister) and Cas is, as always, a treasure. he’s also treated a little better in the later seasons than the early ones, though he still doesn’t have as much screentime as i’d like, though he’s still far more of a figure in the show, even if he’s not in the episode. plus, it’s easy to see how much Dean cares about him. 

i think it was @itsspookyolive i was talking to the other day about how the arc of DeanCas (and destiel) continues to grow in so many ways, even between s13 to s14, that drive home just how canon they really are (though ofc i’d still like it to be so explicitly canon that even homophobes go “oh shit they’re in love aren’t they”, even if that’s just from small things such as hand-holding while driving Baby, sharing the same bed while researching, as in leaning against the headboard on their respective laptops but their legs are tangled or something, or even just a simple “i love you” as they say goodbye on the phone). like, if we compare the reunion between Cas and Dean in s13 to their reunion in s14, there’s still so much that’s the same but it’s done in a subtly different way. 

in season 13, we could say they’re basically married at this point bc there’s a cross in the background and Dean says “i do” while walking toward Cas. there was also the scene in 13x05, starting here and ending here, where light literally starts illuminating his face. in 13x06, Dean’s entire demeanor shifts from “mourning his husband Cas” to “i am going to fangirl over cowboys and there’s nothing you can do to stop me,” not to mention the whole “i’m your Huckleberry” exchange. and then their reunion in season 14 will never fail to make me want to just lie down in traffic and invite people to drive over me bc it’s just that painful. i mean it’s kinda a small scene, but the shipper in me exploded. just look at Cas’ face here (and listen to the swell of romantic music that rises when he walks in) and Dean’s face here and here and then how the music fades when Dean leaves. 

two fairly simple reunion scenes but after their growth in season 13, the entire encounter has shifted drastically and i just ahfdfgslagfhdshagysghal

and i’ll stop rambling now. basically, i think you should watch it! but there are some episodes to avoid simply bc they’re meh or the plot choices are mediocre and/or frustrating, but the show overall is worth it. :)
