Talented Mastrocecchi did this piece a while back, I believe he finally tweeted it in commemoration of Avatar Studio’s announcement of the new Korra comics trilogy.

Anyways, I was very hyped to see his interpretation of a Book 5 Team Avatar for the first time, i.e. look at Mako and Bolin all grownup😄 Also there’s not enough “B5!Asami” so any piece of her I can sight, the more I want to share 😍

And need I say anything about the artist’s interpretation of Korra? This imagining of adult!Korra is just sublime 😩👌

Last but not least, the artist has let me know Meelo has a significantly bigger role in his hypothetical Book 5, hence why he’s with the team. Either way, I just love a good group piece and I hope you do too^^ As always all credit goes to @mastrocecchi and his talent!👀😁💯

I found this screenshot on my 13749 GB folder of TLOK screenshots and I realized that it’s funny because this picture perfectly sums up the whole series of The Legend Of Korra: The sexy, strong, angry and hot headed Avatar girl followed by her ex boyfriend, the guy she friendzoned and her secret girlfriend.

I can’t blame Korra for having everyone completely hooked and in love with her, could you? 😌

finished watching netflix atla! i think the hate is unjustified lol like all that hate seems a little too intense for what i think the show missed. it didn't hit all the same notes as the original show, yeah, so i'm not sure it quite succeeds as an adaptation, but as a standalone show it's pretty good. and i might have some gripes with the characterization, but there was love in the casting and in the costumes and the world, and that goes a long way for me.

#even tho the costumes DID look reallt new lol #rei rambles #natla #as a show i'd give it like a 7.5 or 8 out of 10 #as an adaptation... 5? 6?#the pacing was kinda weird and katara could be meaner but she wasnt terrible #sokka having a confirmed Thing with suki undermines the way his *first* girlfriend became the moon but that's also whatever #i actually LOVED the way they gave more to iroh and zuko about lu ten #and i heard ppl were mad abt azula which is like... why? she barely appears????#as for ozai being more emotional--i GET the gripe i do. really. i just. i am not immune to daniel dae kim okay.#been weak for him since i saw him in hawaii five-o and lost okay #first big asian man crush. only handsome asian man on north american tv for a very long time.#im okay with them humanizing ozai if it means more daniel dae kim ngl #narratively sure yeah it sjpports the zuko's and azula's characters better if he unequivocally sucks #but if they're gonna give him more acting meat i'm not gonna mind in the SLIGHTEST #but anyways yeah they v clearly spotlighted iroh & zuko over some team avatar stuff and i'd be more about it if it wasnt done well #but i actually liked it so i dont mind at all #zuko and iroh were super great

#i'm so out of touch with what's going on with the adaptation that i didn't even realize the original atla creators left the production team #all the way back in 2020 citing creative differences which. is a bit of a red flag to me #idk. i guess hope it succeeds for the sake of the work that's gone into it (and the money good lord each ep's budget is $15 MILLION???)#but also i was never someone who thought there needed to be a live action adaptation in the first place #and unfortunately every new piece of news that comes out makes me want to watch it less and less #atla #avatar the last airbender

1) I can see Chris being a Water bender as his personality undergoes a positive change that flows with the currents of life as it has been for the last half a decade. Meanwhile, because of his free spirited attitude and joyful outlook on life in spite of any sort of hardships he can come across and his value on all life, Jake can be an Airbender.

2) This is a relatively easy question for them, so easy they wind up making three to five page essays about their superpowers they choose regarding their benefits, uses, and many other coolness factors in demonstrating how much they love it, especially power they actually legit have unbeknownst to their teachers. Chris can pick Flight while Jake selects Enhanced Strength.

3) Chris: No more Shampoo or Hair Dye pranks on Conner….though Perfume Pranks are Still on the Table

Jake: Not to blame himself for cases, whether in school or especially as as superhero, when things go wrong bits it’s not his faulty ultimately. Also, being less nervous around Meredith when they hang out

4) That’s very much the case though as with any wrestling match, it’s far from an easy battle. Especially for Chris as almost the vets second the bell rings, since it was every man for themselves, almost all the others rushed to try getting Chris right out of the ring, only being stopped once Jake started going after Bobby and Irey. From there, one by one, the competitors fell out of the ring until finally it was between Chris and Mar’i. Jake offered to help from outside but Chris adamantly tells him to not interfere, ultimately coming out on top via Mar’i missing her aim with a super kick

5) Chris;

- He got Lois and Clark brand new notebooks, pens, a Diamond ring for Lois and new glasses for Clark

- Conner got a brand new leather jacket with some Bi Flag patches and saying stitched on the back on top of his S Shield, “Family Matters, They’re S Tier”

- Kara was given a brand new small jacket for Streaky which has colors that match her hero outfit and a new shiny red cape

- Finally but certainly not least, Jon was given a brand new chemistry set complete with a lab coat, gloves and goggles for any fun safe experiments he can conduct

Jake;

- For Dick, Jake manages to track down entire textbooks about circus history and also some Robin Hood

- Kory received a photo album comprised of the happier memories she has with her parents, Galfore, Kom, Ry, and her Planet

- He also gave Mar’i a brand new blanket he sewed along with Alfred. It’s a thick Cotton cloth with Pink threads and imprinted with blue and white stars

- Finally for his beloved Uncle Tim(my) Drake, a rare Five Foot Tall Crocky Plushie, cause he knows his beloved Uncle basically worships that Dancing alligator without any doubt

6) Chris aids Martha and Kara in the kitchen for preparing the dinner, being in charge of the side dishes including mashed potatoes and steaming the vegetables while also prepping the table for the whole family to sit down once it’s all ready

Then there’s Jake who helps place all the decorations on both the Christmas tree and all throughout the apartment, following Dick’s instructions on where everything should go just case they want to spice it up from last year. He does so while Kory and Mar’i handle other parts of the place. On Christmas Day itself, Jake also handles the music

Team Avatar Treasury collection! (Katara and the Pirate’s Silver, Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy, and Suki, Alone)

All three solo standalone graphic novels from the last year, starring Katara, Toph, and Suki, are being collected in a new box set called Team Avatar Treasury! It comes with a really nice poster of the new cover art!

Team Avatar Treasury is currently listed for October 4th, 2022, but it’s likely this release date could be pushed back.

Years ago I came up with an ATLA fic idea for the earth avatar after korra and it was kinda good but I stopped caring about it. as I developed the plot and transformed my initial (flawed) idea, I got less interested in it because it was no longer the same idea. I basically wanted to write Trope A, didn't like that it was such a bad rendition of Trope A, fixed it, and got bored cause it wasn't Trope A anymore. I absolutely don't have the time (or desire) to go write it now (especially with avatar studios coming in hot with a new avatar), but damn I hope an alternate universe-me wrote it.

#atla #basically it was the same issue genji had and kyoshi had and all the fics have with not knowing who the new avatar is. Confusing two ppl #/not sure which is which #person A was abandoned at birth and given to family B #family B also had a child at the same time (gasp) which was person B #They grew up together in B's family. Both are benders #B was super clever and brave and maybe a bit headstrong but otherwise everything everyone expected of an avatar #kinda crappy parents of B are warned around age 14 or something that A and B could be dangerous together by Some Secret Source (villain for #and *insert political factors here* parents of B abandon them both.#[both A and B are mixed earth and fire nation]#A is a bit mellower and follows B's lead a lot of the time / doesn't mind not being the best at everything.#A and B go on adventures/solve mysteries on why their parents left both of them etc #that's like the first act and they find out one of them could be the avatar #they're poor btw. anyway #They of course make friends along the way (similar to aang's aventure-journey arc) and bam team avatar 3.0 #except they don't know who the avatar is. gasp #so they look for people who might know how to find that out and they're like “it doesn't matter if it's you or me it's fine!” But ofc B #is really confident that it's them #blah blah they train and they find out Person A is the avatar. world crumbles #B is shocked and maybe there are issues beforehand yknow but A leaves for training and B is left in the dust feeling useless #Now abandoned by both family and friends in their eyes #B retreats and disappears for a few years as A trains. A does avatar things. B secretly gets involved with the Wrong Sort [villains]#maybe something spiritual? unlike lok2? who knows. Not me #leads up to A and B confronting each other and it's sad. A does not want this. B feels betrayed cause of x and y events #B obviously feels justified in their cause #*cue fight* but something changes w/ the villain and B's reality starts to crack #A convinces B that it's not all lost. Insert something about their parents again #gasp B's parents were threatened maybe. or not. Never decided #B starts to come around and together they kick ass. B has a LOT of community service hours to fill #protagonist to villain (maybe antihero?) to protagonist again

I stayed up too late last night thinking thoughts about this AU and turning the dialogue I'd written into an actual scene, so here you go.

********** "So…the illustrious Blue Team," Roland chuckles. "The brass must've liked what they saw on my CSV."

"Must've," the Chief echoes back.

Her eyes are still scouring him and he rocks back on his heels in the beat of silence that follows, searching for something else to say. "Class II, huh? Been in this outfit for a while."

She nods. "And you're a fresh one. Hot off the assembly line."

There's a hint of…something in her voice, but Roland can't pinpoint it. He takes his chances. "...feel like clarifying that, ma'am?"

Her eyes finally break from his and she turns back to the storage locker. "There are a lot more Spartans these days than there used to be. That's all."

The lull in conversation stretches just long enough to get awkward before she speaks again. "Have you ever been paired with an AI, Roland?"

"No, ma'am. Should I have been?"

"Not necessarily." She removes her helmet from the locker and turns to face him, once more staring him down with those eyes that were just a little too blue. "But you will be. A personal AI is one of Blue Team's many perks."

Roland swears he can see a ghost of a smile pulling at her lips. He whistles. "Prestigious."

"And expensive, so take it seriously. I'm not sure who you'll be paired with, but I've been working with mine," she slips an armored housing chip out of the back of her helmet, "for a while now."

Roland tries to keep his expression neutral, but the thought of having someone else, something else riding shotgun all the time… "And it's…" What was the word he was looking for? "...you like it?"

She answers with another brisk nod that leaves no room for misinterpretation. "He knows me better than anyone else. We're seamless together." She must've caught the look that crossed Roland's face against his best efforts, because hers softens. Barely. "I can introduce you, if you're curious."

Roland shrugs.

Taking that as enough of an answer, Cortana holds the chip out in her palm.

Less than a second passes before the two of them are bathed in a warm green glow. A small hologram of a human man hovers just a hair above the chip. He's wearing simple fatigues and boots, but his jacket is open to a tank top underneath. He's objectively handsome, Roland supposes, taking in the short-cropped hair, the strong features, the sharp, serious eyes. He even catches some freckles on the hologram's cheekbones.

Roland had seen a few Smart AIs in his time, not many, but the practical mundanity of this one catches him slightly off-guard. They could choose to look like anything and this one had chosen that? Nothing with a little more flair, a little more whimsy?

"Roland, meet John. John, Roland."

"...the new recruit?" The AI's voice is low and husky and he's not addressing Roland but he also hasn't stopped looking at Roland since he appeared. And Roland, caught under the scrutiny of two pairs of very intense eyes, is beginning to understand why this AI paired so well with the Chief. "He's young."

Cortana makes a noise in the back of her throat. "I didn't pick him. Apparently his service record speaks for itself, and I get the feeling he's more than capable of speaking enough for himself and everyone else."

The AI—John—snorts.

"...I'm right here," Roland mutters. But even through the prickling annoyance of being talked around rather than to, he can't help but realize that was the most he'd heard the Chief say since he'd met her.

I keep seeing tiktoks about the new avatar movie and my only contribution to this is is that when I was a kid we owned the first one for some reason and every single time I tried to watch it I'd fall asleep. Like, I thought that was something that happened in cartoons but no I fully passed out the 4 times I tried to watch it and I eventually gave up. I've never had the same experience with any other movie

#thats all i got #i did watch a YouTube doc about the making of the first movie #and how he asked the team to make him some brand new fully alien never been heard before music for it #and the lady doing the music spent 6 months working and traveling across the world to create a mix of obsure instruments #and when she brought it to him he was like #ew no this sounds weird. make it sound like generic hallelujah church music yea that'll work good for my 30 year long artistic vision #anyway #avatar #avatar blue people #avatar the way of water #james cameron
