If I rewrote the Sequel Trilogy (which I will NOT, I already have so much to write for my OC stuff, please brain) I think I’d get rid of Kyle Ron entirely. Just throw out the whole man. Imperial heir Rey Palpatine would’ve made a much better force-sensitive antagonist

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE THIRD EPISODE OF AHSOKA
PRO JEDI RANT DOWN BELOW
Tumblr media
This Loth Cat is a good representation of me not losing my mind on how badly the Jedi Order is being completely defiled by Feloni. Okay…so apparently according to Feloni anybody can just be a Jedi if they try really, really hard and believe in them because the Force resides in everyone when we all know that that’s not fucking true according to Lucas. Yes, the Force resides in all things HOWEVER it is the Force sensitive (I.e. the Jedi and Sith) that are able to wield the Force because they’ve got the blood to do so (midocholorians… I’m sure I’ve butchered the spelling forgive me). So with that being said, does anything in Star Wars even matter anymore? Like honestly.
By this logic…anybody in the OT could have just destroyed the Sith if they tRiEd HaRd EnOuGh. So I guess fuck the importance of Luke Skywalker and all the other survivors of Order 66? And I suppose by this logic none of the prequel Jedi or hell even Anakin doesn’t matter because anybody can just wield a lightsaber and tap into the Force if tHeY jUsT bElIeVeD iN tHeMsElVeS? Why does Rey matter when apparently anyone could have taken down the First Order and destroyed Palpatine when some fucking Mando could have just done the job of being Force sensitive doesn’t matter?
Like believe me guys, I am TRYING so hard not to be a hater but it truly makes me sad to see the one element of Star Wars I love so much (I.e. the Jedi Order and everything they do and stand for) just get picked apart and trashed over and over and over again. I just don’t understand it and I know I can’t be the only one feeling like this.
Also Ahsoka’s character right now is reminding me of Luke’s in TLJ where I feel like I’m seeing and hearing a completely different character and it’s heartbreaking when you’ve looked up and loved these heroes so much. Like for Gods sake can we settle the score in where Ahsoka stands with the Jedi? Is she or is she not? Because right now she’s doing a poor representation of all her mentors who have lost their lives staying true to themselves, Jedi who gave everything to protect and save lives. Now she seems to just go out of her way to scoff at the Order that raised her, similar to Luke dismissing the very thing that gave him hope in the OT.
As these new shows go on, it just makes the fall of the Jedi Order all the more tragic just seeing how their sacrifice and good will meant absolutely nothing. That’s why characters like Cal Kestis and Cere Junda are incredible. They stayed true to their Jedi values no matter what because that’s what the galaxy needs, heroes who care. Not heroes who have personal agendas.

The fact that no one seems to bring up that Kohei Horikoshi is just giving the villain's the same ends as Star Wars villain's. And it's getting kinda annoying.
Dabi- He basically got a similar end to Anakin / Vader at the end of Revenge of the Sith. Where he is barley alive and still tell his family to die as he is burned up into almost a talking frozen corpse. (With no idea if he will survive or not since he's fully 50 / 50 at the moment)
Toga- Similar ending to Ben Solo / Kylo Ren in Rise of Skywalker. Toga gives Ochaco a blood transfusion and dies the same way that Ben gives his lifeforce to bring back Rey.
All For One- Basically Palpatine. In the final war arc he first dies by Endeavor but comes back all powerful only to be defeated again. (Like how everyone thought Palpatine died but he used the force to transform his life force or something into a clone... clone body steals the dyad power from Rey and Ben (which brought him back to his prime... kinda similar how All For One began young again thanks to rewind) and than dies again and fades out of existence by his own ability backfiring on him. (Note: All For One had a similar thing happen with his Quirks no longer working for him making everything blow up in his own face and all his years of planning was for nothing similar to Palpatine's).
Tomura Shigaraki- It seems to be already be set up to turn into something similar from Return of the Jedi... so he get's a Vader / Anakin on because Izuku will very likely bring forth Tenko... in other works Shigaraki will very likely die but Tenko will raise and possibility will end up dying and taking out both himself and Shigaraki once and for all.

Imagine this about the sequel trilogy for a moment.
Imagine Rey wondering about her parentage, wanting to discover where she came from and why she was abandoned by her parents, and having clear abandonment issues after befriending Finn and Poe. She gets easily over-attached, and often doubts herself and overthinks things. But her heart is in the right place and has a chance to have a better life.
Imagine Finn becoming a hero, escaping from the First Order in which he was raised to serve and kill as a soldier with only a number as a name, and joins the resistance to fight against the very faction he grew up in, if only to rescue fellow soldiers who are still trapped there. He discovers he is force sensitive along the way, and is encouraged by Leia to find and train under the famous Luke Skywalker to become a Jedi.
Imagine Poe standing up for himself and the resistance against a sketchy commander. After Leia's death, he truly takes up command against Holdo and becomes a true leader for the resistance, one his parents and Leia can be proud of.
Imagine Kylo and Rey completely switching sides. Kylo realizes the error of his ways and joins the resistance to make up for all that he has done, to make up the pain he caused to his parents and reclaims his identity as Ben Solo. While Rey grows more angrier and doubt about her parentage and friendships consuming her, which Snoke uses to push her to the dark side.
Imagine Hux staying the terrifying general TFA established him as, showing that he shouldn’t be messed with and staying loyal to the First Order until the very end.
Imagine Phasma being an intimidating soldier who had slaughtered many resistance fighters. She also oversees the troopers in training, and makes sure under brutal measures that the soldiers will never betray The First Order like FN-2187 did.
Imagine Snoke being the next powerful big bad of the series, having manipulated both Kylo and Rey to his side and using them as pawns to get to power.
Imagine Palpatine staying dead.
Imagine Disney had a fucking plan...

Hello, I just wanted to say I appreciate your detailed and thoughtful response to my reply. I do think I accidentally fell into an ongoing discourse I'm not really familiar with so I'm taking responsibility for that miscommunication/misunderstanding on my part. I in no way ever meant to imply, nor do I believe, that the genocide on the Jedi is anything other than a tragedy. Even if people have faults that never justifies violence. I'm very sorry that was not clear. I don't identify as an anti and I am chill with the Jedi. Lots of things you wrote about are reasons I like the Jedi and SW in general.
Since it seems I've caused harm I don't really see value in me trying to "defend" where I was coming from but I might be wrong, I'm not sure. The interpersonal relationship section of DBT has always been the hardest for me to grasp and I think that's really showing right now. So, sincere apologies again for my miscommunication.
(This ask is in reference to this post)
Hi, thank you so much for reaching out! I was a bit heated when writing that response, so kudos to you for not getting defensive and for hearing me out. I do really appreciate it. I'd love to help you understand a bit more why this hit me so hard, especially since this was unintentional on your part. There are three things that I think are important to understand here. I'll talk about them below.
1. There's kind of always been a worrying amount of racism, sexism, and anti-Semitism that's baked into big parts of the Star Wars fandom. It's unfortunate, but it's there. Many of the women and/or PoC characters/actors have experienced awful slews of online hate throughout the course of the franchise, specifically for being women and/or PoC. Ahsoka, Reva, Rey, Finn, Rose... the list goes on and on. There are also communities of fascists or incels who use the Empire as inspiration porn. These groups do not make up the entirety of this fandom, but they are a very loud part of it. AND their influence extends beyond their circles into the rest of the fandom, in the form of things that other people with privilege do not always register as bigotry.
2. Star Wars is unfortunately one of those fandoms where a lot of the discourse tends to step on the toes of real-life cultures. As I mentioned, the Jedi are based heavily off of Buddhist culture (George Lucas has been very explicit about this), and the targeted genocide is very similar to the real world's Holocaust. The rise of the Empire is pretty directly based off of the rise of Nazi Germany, to the point of the Empire's aesthetic being based off of the Nazis and Palpatine's rise to power directly paralleling Hitler's. Because the real-life connections are both significant and explicit, Star Wars intersects with the real world a lot more than other fictional or sci fi franchises do. There's a greater burden on members of fandom to investigate things before speaking on them as a result.
3. There are a lot of fandom misconceptions about the Jedi, including that they stole children, that they erased cultures, and that they were emotional, unfeeling people with no relationships. There are also a lot of sentiments that the Jedi were at fault for, or deserved, what happened to them (either because it was "balance" or because they created the man who genocided them). Some people arrive at these conclusions because of the racism mentioned in #1 intersecting with the non-white cultural influences mentioned in #2. Some people arrive at these conclusions because they see it elsewhere in fandom (from group #1), and don't recognize the dogwhistles because they aren't familiar with the cultures being trodden upon.
So when someone says the kinds of things you said in your post:
Jedi children are "stolen from their homes and raised devoid of their culture and families"
All Jedi initiation "traumatizes their subjects"
"Attachments are human relationships and…are integral to mental health"
All Jedi "have absolutely nowhere to turn to for comfort"
"The Jedi order is more akin to a cult"
The Jedi "sterilize" and "manipulate" DBT and force their practices upon their members as "the one true way to live"
The Jedi are "about eradicating big emotions"
Their "goal [is] indoctrinating the children they stole"
"Anakin is the direct product of their failure"
Sure, the first thing that jumps out is the misinformation. But since almost everything you're critiquing about the Jedi is something that also exists in Buddhism, you are simultaneously deriding Buddhism as something that is detrimental to mental health, that provides no support network to anyone, that is sterile and emotionless, and that is a form of indoctrination.
The paternalistic idea that Buddhists were victims of backwards, harmful cults, and needed to be "saved" from their own culture by white people, is both old and insidious. These are things that have been said about Buddhism with the intention of painting it as stupid and even harmful, so that white people could justify oppressing both Buddhism as a religion and the PoC cultures who originated and practiced it. This is still used today as a justifier for modern-day forms of racism, but it's also been used for centuries as a justification for the colonization of entire countries.
I've discussed the genocide aspect in my other post, but I'll just reiterate that the sentiment "the Jedi are not to blame for their genocide" cannot coexist with the sentiment "Anakin, the perpetrator of said genocide, is the direct product of the Jedi." The idea from your tags that the Jedi "killed" Anakin is also a tricky one, since the idea that Anakin's death was Vader's creation is a popular fandom trope turned canon with the "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did" line in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and to say the Jedi killed Anakin is therefore to say the Jedi created Vader, their genocider.
I guess part of me also wonders why, even if it is true (I think it isn't, but people can and do disagree), it's relevant to bring up under the type of post I made. Take the example of a school shooting. People have died, children have died, a member of their community has betrayed them, and the community is hurt and grieving. Let's say someone makes a post celebrating the community, celebrating how kind and supportive they are to one another. And let's say someone decides to comment below that post saying that the other kids in the school were mean to the shooter. Even if it were true, I hope this example helps illustrate how (1) it comes across as excusing the shooter's actions, and how (2) that sentiment is just so incredibly tone-deaf and victim-blamey. That's kind of how it feels to have someone comment these misinformed things (of racist origin, even if they are not of conscious racist intent) below a post that I made celebrating the practices of a culture that was genocided. It's neither the time nor the place.
And remember what I said in point #3, about how people arrive at these conclusions one of two ways? When I read stuff like this, it's really hard to tell which of the two groups a person falls into. It's hard to tell if the coded racism is simply going unnoticed, or if it's there intentionally. But it's there, regardless. And in my experience, the hidden or unintentional racism can be the most dangerous, because people will often get defensive and gaslight the hell out of you when you try to call it out. Thanks for not doing that, but you're unfortunately the minority.
So when people say these things, I usually have to assume that they are not a safe person. Because like I said: Whether or not the racism was deliberate, it was still there. You might have not originated these ideas, but you were willing to accept them without investigating further, to adopt them as your own, and to spread them further online. I think there's something to unpack there for you. Some great next steps would include doing research into the following topics:
The nuclear family and how it ties to white supremacy and homophobia (this gives context for the institutional aversion to the Jedi's form of community; you can find an article by a Black man about this here)
The American Jewish Committee's resources on identifying subtle or hidden forms of anti-Semitism (this gives context to how seemingly innocuous statements can have very problematic histories; you can find it here)
The phenomenon of "Holocaust Distortion" (a real-life example of how harmful it is to distort facts to place greater blame on the victims of genocide; you can find an article from the Holocaust Remembrance Alliance about it here)
The history of Buddhist groups suffering religious persecution (this gives context for ways in which the religion has been deliberately misrepresented for the purpose of harming Buddhists; Wikipedia is a great place to start, here's an introductory link)
The colonization and oppression of countries with large Buddhist populations (this gives context for the global racism I mentioned; look into the countries of Japan, Cambodia, China, India, Vietnam, etc.)
Though there can also be room for excitement, not just depressing homework, because it seems there's a lot of great stuff about the Jedi (and Buddhism) that you didn't know about, and now you get to learn all about it!

@theneutralmime
Oh this could get long, I don't talk about the sequels often lol. But I recently had to rewatch the entire trilogy as research for the podcast, so I have some more solid opinions on this now, so let's go.
Rey is a character who suffered from a fairly basic set-up in TFA that went exactly nowhere when her trajectory changed in TLJ and they couldn't figure out how to fix it in TROS (and the studio execs came in and enforced certain things to happen because they figured it would make certain fans happy). Rey IS her own character, she's not just like... Luke 2.0 or whatever, but the general set-up of "young hero stuck on their own in their life they can't escape and who ends up forced into an adventure when adventure happens to find them" is... not the most original thing in the world. It can be REALLY GOOD when executed well, there's a reason it's popular, but nothing about Rey was like... insanely original aside from the fact that she was a woman as (one of) the main character(s) in Star Wars films for the first time.
And then Rian Johnson took this pretty basic set-up that everyone understood and went "what if I threw this on the ground and spat on it and crushed it for good measure to be Edgy" and that's how we got TLJ with "Rey Nobody" who somehow already knows everything she needs to know which makes her ENTIRE JOURNEY to go find Luke completely meaningless and shifts the story from being about HER to being about LUKE. It's dumb, it's stupid, and it was bad writing.
Not following the very obvious character arc set up for her in TFA means that Rey as a character vacillates back and forth between motivations and characterizations in each new film. So it's hard to know like... who Rey even IS as a character, what's important to her, what she cares about, why she even WANTS to be a Jedi, what kind of Jedi she'd actually be, etc. In the first film, she's on a very basic journey of learning to let go of the idea that someone will come back for her on Jakku in order to recognize that it's better to find ways to connect with new people than push aside those relationships for one that has already gone. This is why she leaves Finn at the end of the film to find Luke in the first place, she can't let her connection to Finn be what holds her back any more than she could let her connection to her parents hold her back. She has a greater destiny out there to follow that she can only answer if she learns how to let go. In the second film, her entire motivation surrounds saving Kylo Ren for some reason and, as mentioned before, she apparently already knows everything she needs know and doesn't need any training or guidance of any kind which leaves her exactly nowhere to go as a character. In the third film, it's all about figuring out how to connect to the Jedi of the past for... reasons and struggling with the sudden revelation that she is Palpatine's granddaughter and therefore has extra capacity for darkness in her or something.
There's nothing consistent about her across the three films which leaves Rey and her story just... in the dust. She could've been a perfectly good and enjoyable hero character had they just let her follow the path she was set up on in TFA, and instead we got... the mess she became. I LIKE Rey, I think she's occasionally fun and I like the relationship she has with Finn and Poe in TROS, but she got absolutely SLAUGHTERED by this trilogy.
But that is NOTHING compared to what happened to Finn.
Finn is unarguably the most interesting and unique character introduced in TFA. A stormtrooper deserter with the potential to be Force sensitive AND the main love interest for the other main female character? A stormtrooper who could become a JEDI, the clear potential for a stormtrooper rebellion, the parallels and connection between Finn and Kylo that so clearly demonstrated that theme of choice (with Finn being someone raised in darkness who chooses selflessness and compassion anyway vs Kylo who was raised in light with all the support and resources he could ask for and still chooses selfishness and darkness), the possibility of having true CO-LEADS for the first time with Finn and Rey as like two halves of one hero with the romance being there to lift them BOTH up rather than relegate one of them to the side. The potential here with Finn was LIMITLESS, it was INSANE.
And ALL OF IT got squandered. Every last ounce. Finn got COMPLETELY sidelined in TLJ, separated from all of Rey's storylines and replaced by Kylo Ren, his Force sensitivity was not further explored, the entire story with the rebellion could've been what jumpstarted his stormtrooper rebellion plotline and instead he got thrown off into some weird casino c-plot bullshit to try to thrust him into a new romance that wasn't with Rey, and he was just constantly being physically hurt by other characters as though it was a joke of some kind. TROS attempted to bring SOME of it back by having him going on more missions with Poe off-screen, allowed Finn, Poe, and Rey to be an actual trio with a relationship together, and hinted at the Force sensitivity more than once. But by the time TROS came around, the damage had been done and it couldn't manage to come back from that, so Finn ended up developing nowhere in that film and does basically nothing but follow around Poe and Rey wherever they go, more sidelined than ever but at least he's not constantly being hit and he IS still involved in the main storylines in a way he wasn't in TLJ.
The options were all SO GOOD for Finn and we got resolution for exactly none of them and because of how badly John Boyega and his character got treated, we'll likely never get any real resolution for his character EVER because he is understandably not going to come back to Star Wars after this. I haven't yet forgiven Rian Johnson for the choices he made in TLJ that ruined Finn.
I actually like Kylo best in TFA because I think, much like everybody else, that's where we see the real potential for what the character could've been. Kylo in TFA is really set up to just be "another Anakin" where he went dark but can still be saved by the love of the father/son bond and then he ISN'T. They set the audience up SO HARD for that eventuality, for Kylo to be secretly not as evil as he seems, for him to be someone who can be saved like Anakin was saved, so you're sitting there expecting that to happen during that scene on Starkiller Base with Han, which is why it comes as such a shock when he kills Han anyway and turns the ENTIRE NARRATIVE on its head by telling you that Kylo IS NOT ANAKIN and isn't going to be saved the same way if he can be saved AT ALL (and it's heavily implying he CAN'T BE SAVED). TLJ basically just redid this entire narrative from TFA all over again except with Rey and the dyad, but because they did it with Rey and the dyad, there ended up being a bunch of people who ended up VERY invested in Reylo as a thing and so the studio then caved to that in TROS and saved Kylo despite that never being in the original plan according to Adam Driver.
And I think it would've been kind-of interesting to have this character who seems like he should be able to be saved like Anakin, but not everyone CAN be saved, not everyone WILL ultimately make better choices when given the option, some people are just going to double down on their darkness and commit to being evil. I like the subversion of expectations from what we were given with Anakin, the way he's like the inverse of Anakin in so many ways and looks up to "Darth Vader" as a role model of sorts without ever understanding the choices Anakin actually made, both good and bad. And if TLJ had actually, you know, expanded upon what TFA had already established instead of just saying the exact same thing all over again, maybe we could've gotten a more interesting story out of his character.
Which leads us to Luke and his role in "creating" Kylo. Here again we get what seems to be a lack of agreement between the people in charge about what this story was supposed to be and say. TFA sets up that Kylo is making his own choices, he's not brainwashed, and his primary problem seems to be with his parents. TLJ then turns around and says it was all LUKE'S fault, that Luke had a moment of weakness and it threw Kylo into a fury he's never come back from, but Luke's mistake is what ultimately led to everything that followed. And like... this isn't Luke. Maybe some people really enjoyed seeing Luke be this broken old man who just makes the same mistakes over and over again, but this wasn't Luke to me. I don't buy that Luke had an instinct that caused him to ignite a weapon in response to feeling the darkness in his nephew's mind, something he's only feeling because he's literally INVADING HIS NEPHEW'S MIND AS HE SLEEPS. There is nothing about his choices here that are in line with anything we knew about Luke from the Original Trilogy. Luke would never do this to someone he cared about, he just wouldn't.
The movie's insistence on making Luke into this broken beaten old man is also, as I mentioned above, a massive mistake because it turns the story in TLJ from REY'S journey into LUKE'S journey. Rey isn't the one who has to learn things and develop in this film, LUKE is. LUKE is the one who fucked up, LUKE is the one who lost hope, LUKE is the one who has to be taught a lesson about what it means to be a Jedi in the end. Rey does shit all in this film.
It also moves the focus away from it being KYLO'S CHOICES that led to what he's become to this weirder story about how Luke screwed up and has to fix it by... trusting that Rey already has it covered I guess? Instead of focusing on how Kylo made selfish choices and what actually PROMPTED those selfish choices despite all of the support he had and the legacy of his parents and the way that that parallels the choices being made by Rey and Finn, it focuses on LUKE, someone whose story has ALREADY BEEN TOLD. Kylo ends up a little bitchass victim in this instead of a character who is making clear and concise choices, something that was established when he killed Han in TFA, so his choice at the end of TLJ when he kills Snoke and takes over as Supreme Leader doesn't have the same impact when we've already see him make that choice in the climax of the last film. It's redundant and walking back the choice from TFA sort-of undoes everything that it's trying to say about the character and makes TLJ's conclusion feel wishy washy. Is he a tragic victim who has to be saved, or is he a villain who just needs to be eliminated? It's unclear by the end of TLJ.
Luke's role in "creating" Kylo was stupid on so many levels, both structurally and in terms of character. It never should've happened and it's an insult to who Luke is and has been to this story and I haven't forgiven Rian Johnson for THIS choice either. TROS does attempt to fix this and walk it back, as well, but much like with Finn, the damage was done.
So as far as I'm concerned, TFA is a solid film with a really interesting concept of taking a premise we all think is predictable and then subverting those expectations pretty intentionally, but the other two films are a complete and utter mess that aren't worth the 10ish hours of my life they have taken from me by watching them each twice now. There's a few fun moments in TLJ and TROS but I can't say that either film is like... a good or enjoyable film overall.

Episode IX Battle Of Knights by AJ Pratt
an concepts for an alternate Episode IX of Star Wars titled 'Battle of Knights
Rey
With the galaxy depending on her, Rey reforms the Jedi order and trains force-sensitive beings in secret to avoid being hunted by the dominant First Order. She develops expert skills in stealth and evasion, using these skills to become the first Jedi Shadow. As a shadow Rey is able to intervene when necessary and use the force in unique ways to help those in need without drawing attention. Her secondary responsibilities are to the Resistance as an officer of the New Republic. She guides her allies through the realm of scavenging, helping them rebuild with limited resources to survive the First Order's onslaught.
Finn & Poe Dameron
Poe Dameron embraces his role as head of the resistance and leads his honorable soldiers by example. Finn discovers his force sensitivity and trains under Rey and the other masters of the new Jedi Order. Instead of becoming a Jedi, he re-establishes the order of the Guardians of the Whills. (Finn utilizes scavenged jet trooper armor and a custom "powersaber")
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo
As Supreme Leader of the First Order, the systems under the control of Kylo Ren prosper under the firm grasp of the order. He becomes more respected than Snoke and his tyranny, though Hux's rampage across the galaxy continues to draw the righteous wrath of those outside the First Order's expanding jurisdiction (a fact that the citizens of the order conveniently ignore). Kylo Ren falls in battle to the reborn Palpatine, only for his spirit to return to his body with the help of Anakin Skywalker's ghost. The resurrected Ben Solo fights together with Rey once more to put an end to the true menace.
Darth Talon
Formerly a gladiator within the pits of Exegol, Taliann joins the First Order as Kylo Ren's right hand, the Dark Talon, executing any task assigned to her perfectly and without fail. She later abandons the First Order after its defeat to lead the Sith as Darth Talon.
The First Order
A surviving clone of Palpatine raises a clone of Rey into an assassin of the dark side. Phasma returns from her defeat full of hatred and serves the Sith as the head Jedi Killer. Hux ascends to the role of Supreme Commander of the First Order.

Crack/Crangst idea you want to share?
Once again, a perfect anon, because in anticipation of Star Wars Day, my brain came up with a crack Star Wars AU and now I have an excuse to share it (it’s more crack than Crangst, but I hope you like it!)
This crack au features Anakin and Palpatine as semi-problematic grandparents in an au where Anakin never turns, but Palpatine is never discovered and keeps evilly plotting and cloning himself a son while Anakin and Padme raise their family together. Eventually, Anakin and Padme become grandparents to Ben and Palpatine becomes Rey’s problematic boomer grandpa who shows up at his son’s house on Jakku holidays in order to try to bribe is granddaughter with presents to get her to join the darkside.
Details of this AU include the following in no particular order:
Palpatine cloning himself a son and asking everyone not to question who the boy is or where he came from
Anakin and Padme congratulate Palpatine on his son. Even though Palpatine is fuming because his son is powerless but of course Anakin’s children are some of the most powerful in the galaxy, he has to pretend to be a good father, for the sake of public appearances. He’s really bad at it.
Palpatine initially plans on naming his son “clone attempt 53” or something until his advisors tell him it will look bad if he doesn’t give his son an actual name. Palpatine lazily picks the first name he thinks of and then forgets it and continuously calls his son by the wrong name.
Palpatine’s adult son has to give his dad multiple talks about boundaries and why he shouldn’t be telling his ten-year-old granddaughter Sith legends as bedtime stories
Palpatine (reading a bedtime story to five year old Rey): “Tell me child, have you ever heard of the tragedy of Darth Plageuis the wise? It’s not a story your weak and powerless father would tell you.”
Rey’s Father (yelling from the hallway): “Dad, you know I can hear you, right?”
When it comes to Rey, Palpatine is thrilled that his creepy evil Sith experiments FINALLY created a grandchild with the power he desires, only to discover that power comes with a force bond to, you guessed it, another Skywalker. (Palpatine’s hatred for the Skywalker family grows with every passing generation he fails to turn to the dark side).
Han would for sure make a comment about Sheev being old and say something like “isn’t it weird this guy never seems to die even though he was like super old when Anakin was a kid? And how does he randomly have a son? Where did that guy even come from?” These comments drive Palpatine crazy, but Han is Leia Organa (or Leia Skywalker in this AU)’s husband so he gets away with it. (Also Han regularly almost exposes Palpatine’s plans by making casual jokes. This is not on purpose, Han has no clue what’s going on, and he just sort of roams around the senate building while his wife is in meetings causing trouble and speaking out of turn without a care in the world, but Palpatine grows weary of him and constantly has to change his plans because he thinks Han must be onto him but really Han is just snooping around cause he’s bored).
To Palpatine’s utter disappointment, Rey loves the Jedi. An elderly Anakin specifically takes her under his wing, as she reminds him of a young Ashoka. Plus they both grew up in poverty on a desert planet (because Rey’s dad moved out as soon as he could) so I think they’d have a lot to talk about. I can see Anakin showing up to Luke’s Jedi school specifically to take the kids on fun and dangerous missions and Luke can’t say anything against it because it’s his own dad doing this. I like to imagine Anakin and Rey, impulsive little sand orphans that they are, running around on Jedi missions getting messy and ruining their clothes while Padme and Ben (who would bond over their love of fashion and dramatically stylish capes) always look like they’re trying to be on the cover of a fashion magazine. Also you can’t tell me Padme wouldn’t dress her little grandson, baby Benny, up in the cutest little outfits.
Little Ben, Finn, and Rey go to Jedi training together and Palpatine tries his best to get Rey to spill secrets on Luke and his other students to figure out how to turn them. He teaches her to use force lightening and tries to get her to use it against her classmates but instead Rey teaches her new trick to her friends, who accidentally zap Palpatine in the face. He is not amused. Han accidentally makes jokes about his appearance at a senate meeting in front of a microphone that was left on.
In a last ditch desperate effort to get his apprentice, Palpatine invites himself to Luke’s Jedi school, and when Luke is distracted, he tries to bribe Ben, Rey, and Finn into joining the dark side using the promise of things kids like, including toys and candy. He tried the same thing with Luke and Leia when they were young and it fails both times
There is a point where everyone (eventually) figures out Palpatine is evil, but by then, Palpatine is so old and out of it, it doesn’t really matter. There’s one time where he dramatically tries to stand up and take the energy from Rey and Ben’s force bond at a family party, but then his old man knees give out and he topples over and falls asleep in his chair. I’m not much of a Reylo shipper, but I do think it would be funny if he tried this during the objections portion of their wedding and Poe and Finn have to awkwardly and uncomfortably escort him out like wedding bouncers. I also think it would be funny if during this he yelled something like “Fools! I am all the Sith!” or “You will find that it is YOU who are mistaken!” or “Stand together… die together!” with zero context and shoots forth the teeniest weakest little flash of force lightening he can muster and everyone just writes him off as being an old person who’s starting to lose it.
Might add more later but I hope this finds its target audience.

Chapter Summary
Emperor Palpatine makes Rey an offer to join the Sith on Exegol. Meanwhile, the Skywalker arrives on Coruscant to help Finn’s army of Coruscant citizens and rebelling stormtroopers to begin their attack on the First Order Capitol...
Excerpt
Rey stepped beneath a massive monolith that seemed to hover in the air. She startled a bit when the section of floor she stood on detached from the rest, began to descend. She looked around, alert to any sight or sound, but all was as silent as death. Then a rumble sounded, too distant to identify. The lift settled, and Rey stepped off. She raised her weapon, and its blue light snagged on huge stone faces, sparking with electricity. She knew, without knowing how she knew, that the statues commemorated Sith Lords who had come before. This place of evil must have been here for centuries, maybe millennia, for the air was heavy with the weight of time and dark secrets. Rey was suddenly aware that she was not alone. Figures scurried in the shadows, but she sensed no immediate threat from them, so she continued on. A few more steps took her past a dizzying array of lab equipment—monitors, tubes, some kind of tank, all empty and abandoned. Just like the planet’s surface, the floor here contained fissures, and light flashed deep down—Rey couldn’t tell how deep—as though Exegol’s entire crust had formed around a core of electricity. She came to a narrow stone corridor, and her gaze was pulled forward. A chill pimpled the flesh of her arms, because resting upon a dais was the shape from her visions. A chair with spikes curving up and around it, like a halo of giant thorns. The throne of the Sith. Rey found herself inexorably drawn to the throne, and stepped toward the dais. The rumble grew louder. The corridor broke open into an an amphitheater as big as a hollowed-out mountain, brimming with robed figures. There were thousands of them, faceless in the dark distance, but pulsing with zealotry. Religious disciples, awaiting the return of the Sith. The Sith Eternal. As she approached, the rumbling shifted and became a hiss, like an oversized serpent ready to strike. "Welcome to Exegol, young Rey..." came a voice from her nightmares, deep, resonant, and slow, as though he had all the time in the galaxy. Rey turned toward the dark voice. A robed figure materialized, suspended from strange machinery. Rey's grip on the lightsaber tightened when she saw his face. He was a ghastly sight, with red-rimmed eyes, his skin barely clinging to his skeletal form, the flesh disintegrating into oozing sores. One of his hands had even half rotted away. It was the Emperor. Darth Sidious. Palpatine, his spirit trapped in an artificial form, his power too devastating to contain. "I have been watching your journey for my Wayfinder with great interest..." he continued, the weight of his voice thundering in Rey's skull. "Perhaps I was mistaken in attempting for your life..." The ghoul was repulsive, but Rey's feet twitched toward him. She could not look away. There was something terrifyingly compelling about him. "You... are drawn to the throne... aren't you, child?" asked Palpatine like a kindly grandfather, gesturing over to the Sith throne. "The Dark Side calls to you... a fine Sith you would make..." She forced herself to sound strong, to back away from the Emperor. “I haven’t come to join the Sith. I've come to end them." Several figures stepped forward, draped in crimson, similar to Snoke’s Praetorian Guard, which she and Kylo had defeated together. Rey had a feeling these guards would prove more formidable adversaries. “As a Jedi?” the Emperor said, his voice oozing contempt like the sores on his skin. Rey snarled defiantly at him. "Yes!" “I sense your hatred... your anger. Qualities of a Sith," Palpatine smiled. Rey tried to deny it, but he saw right through her. It was written all over her face. "You want to kill me. That is what I want! Kill me and my spirit will pass into you, as all the Sith live in me. We will be one!" The cultists roared their approval...

You and Kylo Ren have had a strange relationship, if you could even call it that. You had fought beside Rey and the others in the Resistance when he came with his lightsaber ignited. You were in the Resistance hideout when you felt something. It was an odd feeling, something that you couldn’t quite put your finger on, but it was as if someone else was trying to get your attention. It felt like a whisper, more like an echo from a far off room than anything else. You felt pulled towards something, subconsciously making your way to the control room, where Rey stood.
"He's here." She spoke, her voice filled with emotion as she turned around, her eyes meeting yours.
"Kylo?" You asked, staring at the brunette before turning back to the control panel.
Rey furrowed her eyebrows, "Yes. Are you alright? You look ill." She placed a hand on your forehead, feeling the heat radiating out of you, "I think you're sick."
You sighed softly, "No, I'm fine, Rey." Rey looked unsure but nodded anyway. "We have to get rid of him."
A couple of weeks after that, it happened again. You were taking a small stroll on another Resistance planet, the trees loomed over you, the ground covered in moss. You had to get out of the base. Being stuck in there for days upon weeks made you feel antsy. You walked down the path, following it to a clearing until you stopped. A wave of nausea went through you and you found yourself leaning against a tree as you tried to keep yourself upright. The world around you grew dim, as your surroundings became blurry. You felt like you were sinking into the ground beneath you. Breath labored, you looked up, spotting a dark figure before you.
Kylo watched you as you steadied yourself, placing your hand on the tree behind you. Blinking rapidly, you gained back your strength, the feeling of nausea subsiding.
"Are you alright?" He asked, voice manipulated by his mask.
"Did you do that?" You asked, your own voice soft as you cleared it.
"No. But, I feel as if you won't believe me." He answered, taking a few steps forward.
"You saying that really doesn't help that matter,” You said,  crossing your arms. Your words came out a bit harsh, but you didn't care. You weren't going to let this guy mess with your head.
The masked man stopped, seeming to hesitate before stepping closer. Your eyes widened and you quickly backed away, your back hitting the tree.
"I'm not here to hurt you." He then said, but you shook your head, unable to look away from him. Especially the lightsaber that was clipped onto his belt.
"As if I'll believe you. Kind of low for you to try and attack me when I am without a weapon." You said, raising an eyebrow.
Kylo sighed, "I am not going to hurt you. You are not my target."
You frowned, "Yeah, Rey is. Now, why are you telling me all this anyway?"
"We are not so different you and I-"
"Oh, don't give me that," You interrupted him, "We are not the same."
Kylo looked at you for a moment, debating whether or not he should tell you what he knew. "You feel it? That strange feeling? It overtakes you from time to time?"
"Yes. How do you know about that?" You asked, glaring at the man in the mask.
"It's the Force bond between us," He paused before continuing, "It's strong. Strong enough to make you feel weak."
You scoffed, rolling your eyes, "Are you telling me that the feeling I get is because of some Force bond that I have with you?”
Kylo stared at you, his expression unreadable, "Yes. Don't deny it. The Force has already bonded us together."
Your jaw dropped, your eyes wide. Before you could say anything more, Kylo left.
For the next couple of weeks, every time you closed your eyes, there he was. His face appeared in your dreams almost every night. At first, you chalked it up to stress; but as more nights passed, the thought that maybe he wasn't always there made you wonder if he was actually real. So much so, that you started to consider contacting him. But, you had no way to. Half of you wanted to know the truth, while the other wanted to get rid of whatever spell had been cast on you.
It had been over a month until you saw him again, during another walk of yours. You felt that he was there before you really knew it. It was almost as if you heard him calling to you too. Like his voice was right on top of you and all you had to do was turn your head slightly. He stood there without his mask, surprising you. Your eyes raked over his once-hidden features and suddenly, you were drawn to him. Who knew he had a head of curls under there? Something told you not to run, not to pull your blaster, to follow him. Something in you told you that he wouldn't hurt you, that he was only looking out for you.
"Why are you here?" You finally spoke up the fear that you'd wake up from this dream leaving you almost breathless.
"I wanted to see you," Kylo said, his eyes scanning your form.
"How did you find me?"
His lip curled slightly as he smirked, "There are many ways to find someone, especially if you spend enough time looking."
Your face flushed at his response, "Maybe I don't want to be found." You muttered, "Especially by you." You added, only for Kylo to take a few steps forward; stopping a few feet away from you.
"As I said, I wanted to see you," He replied, his gaze on you.
"So, you followed me." You said, your tone accusing.
"I have my reasons."
A small sigh escaped you, "You confuse me, Ren."
Kylo raised an eyebrow, "I confuse you?" He asked, making you laugh lightly, looking up at him with a small smile.
"Yeah, a lot."
It was a long time before you saw Kylo again. And a lot was happening. Rey had been gone for a long time, along with Finn and Poe. From what you understood, Palpatine was alive and Rey went to stop him. Meanwhile, you were stuck at the base doing nothing. You were bored and frustrated. It seemed as though everyone else was busy with their own problems. As you were packing up your things from the base, you heard heavy footsteps. The odd feeling came back, making you tense up a bit. Yet, a rush of excitement flew over you. You turned around to face the sound.
Your eyes widened at the sight of Kylo at your door, his hair was frazzled as was his breathing. He stared at you with wide eyes, before making his way to you.
"What are you doing here, Kylo?" You asked in a hushed whisper, not wanting anyone to find him.
"It's Ben. Ben Solo." He corrected you softly.
You nodded slowly, "Ben... Why are you here? Not that it's not good to see that you're okay..."
He looked hesitant as he continued to speak, "I wanted to see you before I went to Exegol."
"Wait, Exegol? Why are you going there?" You asked, your brows knitting together.
"I want to help Rey in defeating Palatine." He answered, making your eyes widen.
"What? Why?" You asked frantically, biting your lip.
"She needs my help."
"She'll be fine without you." You argued, "Besides, what if you don't come back? I've heard of Palatine's powers with the Force..." You questioned, stepping closer to Ben. "Is it Rey? I know you also have a bond with her." You then asked softly, fear and insecurity engulfing you.
Ben opened his mouth to respond, but then his lips pressed together into a tight line, taking time to think before responding, "Yes, we do have a bond, but it's not like ours, Y/N." Ben began, hesitantly reaching out and taking your hand in his. "Ours... It's like two parts that fit perfectly. It's stronger than the bond I share with Rey. More powerful even."
You smiled, trying not to blush at the sensation his skin gave, "I'm still scared, Ben." You whispered, your smile turning into a frown.
Ben reached out and placed a finger under your chin lifting your head up so that you were staring into his eyes, "We'll see each other again, I promise."
You nodded, taking Ben's hand in yours; placing it on your cheek. "Just please stay safe. If something happens to you, I can not bear to lose anyone else... Especially you." You said, your voice cracking.
Ben smiled softly, leaning down to kiss you gently. The kiss was gentle and tender, his fingers brushed against your cheek, sending tingles through your body. Once they pulled apart he lowered his forehead, his nose brushing against yours, his warm breath caressing your skin.
"Goodbye, Y/N." He whispered.
"Goodbye, Ben." You responded, closing your eyes.
You felt him pull away, opening them to find his figure disappearing down the hallway. Sighing, you bit your lip, hoping Ben would come back to you alive.

@makekyluxsuffer Day 1 ; Kidnap/Rescue/‘Take Me Instead’ (Post TROS, canon divergence, no Ben Solo & Hux Lives AU)
Hux never wanted to return to Exegol.
It was difficult enough for him being in the darkened skies over it during the final battle against the Resistance, eyes scanning the surface for any sign of his beloved Ren. Eliminating both Darth Sidious and Rey in one battle wasn’t an easy feat but Kylo had emerged victorious, albeit missing an arm and in desperate need of medical aid.
With Palpatine gone for good, Hux believed that all the Force nonsense was over. He believed he and Kylo could rule the galaxy in peace, with order and control. He was wrong.
The scattered Sith acolytes have gathered and chosen Kylo as their next leader. Or rather, chosen to clone him and use his blank slate to mould him into their pawn, their weapon, their very own leader.
And of course, they need the original Ren to clone.
They’re chanting when Hux enters their temple. It’s buried deep within the chambers of Exegol, rooms filled with equipment and tanks ready for their new offspring, with detailed analysis of Kylo’s body and health scanning through the screens as though he’s a piece of data and not a living creature.
Hux has come alone, dressed in his black and red stormtrooper armour, minus a helmet and modified with better weapons and more room for agile movement. His backup are waiting outside; if he can’t rescue his husband then no one else is going to have a chance.
When Hux finds him, Kylo is lying on a stone slab like an animal readying for sacrifice. His robes have been torn from him, leaving him naked and shivering. There’s a tight collar around his neck that is glowing red, an eerie crimson colour that reminds Hux of the glow of a red kyber crystal. The cuffs around his wrists and ankles are the same, seemingly pulsing with dark energy.
At the foot of the stone slab are eight figures in red, hooded robes, their faces hidden from sight and their chants low and mysterious. Hux doesn’t understand what they’re saying but he doesn’t need to. His twin blasters are on them as soon as he enters the temple’s chamber.
“Let him go,” Hux says, his tone laced with power. “Let him go now.”
The acolytes do not stop chanting. They don’t move, unfazed by Emperor Hux’s entrance. He takes the opportunity to tend to Kylo, touching his cheek and whispering his name.
“H-Hux,” Kylo breathes, wheezing. His eyes are barely open, barely conscious. His skin is littered with cuts; he would have put up a damn good fight before he was taken and stripped.
“It’s alright, Ren. I’m here. I’m taking you home.”
The chanting stops abruptly, startling Hux with the sudden silence. Seven of the hooded figures take a step back, leaving one at the front.
“You will not speak to the vessel,” it says, speaking as though a serpent would, hissing. “He is ours.”
“He’s mine,” Hux growls, standing up and staring down the acolyte. “You won’t touch him again.”
The acolyte huffs, “The boy has great power. The dark side is strong with him, his blood is worthy of the Sith. We will clone him and take his essence. You may have his empty shell when we are done.”
Low chuckles emit from the group of hooded creatures. Hux remains tall.
“Take me instead,” he says, tears brimming in his eyes as he looks down at Kylo, counting the bruises that litter his pale skin. “Let him go. I’ll take his place.”
The acolytes erupt into laughter.
“You!” The main one shakes their head. “Armitage Hux. A runt and bastard child of an old commandant. You are not worthy. You know nothing of the Force or the dark side. You will be punished for coming here and interfering with the boy’s destiny.”
The acolyte raises a pale, wrinkled hand as though to summon powers but nothing happens. Only Kylo’s heavy breathing echoes throughout the chamber.
“Unworthy,” Hux smirks, placing his twin blasters back into their holsters strapped to his thighs. “I’ve heard that word my whole life. I’ve proved everyone else wrong and I’m about to do the same to you.”
Slowly, he unclips the stormtrooper armour that covers the back of his hand, removing the black glove underneath. His lips purse together in a satisfied grin as he reveals his palm to the group of hidden figures, showing them the ancient symbol that sits there. The Sith. Sidious.
“No! It cannot be!”
“Impossible!”
“He is our saviour, not the boy!”
Hux shakes his head, “I may be a Hux in name but I am a Palpatine by blood. You call me a bastard but my mother was the Emperor’s legitimate daughter. You insult him by insulting me. You’ve tested me by taking and hurting the one I love and for that, you’ll pay.”
“No! Emperor, please!”
“Mercy!”
“I’ll show you who’s unworthy,” Hux grits his teeth in rage, unleashing his collated Force powers onto the acolytes, making their minds suffer as he pollutes them from the inside.
No one takes what’s his.
The red hue of Kylo’s restrains dims as Hux calls forth all of the darkness around him, fuelling his powers to destroy the acolytes until they collapse as mindless bodies, drained of their life by the grandson of the leader they once blindly followed.
When Hux is satisfied that they’re taken care of, he turns to his beloved. It would seem as though Kylo passed out before he had the chance to see any of what’s just happened. It’s probably for the best, Hux thinks, as he pulls back on his glove and armour; this way, he can keep on protecting Kylo from afar like he has done since the day they fell in love.

Rey isn’t a Palpatine and here’s why
Okay, to expand on this post
Rey isn’t a Palpatine on the same logic terms that Rex isn’t Jango Fett nor Rex Fett
Her dad was a Palpatine clone
However we have seen in the prequel era that being a clone does not make you the same person as the donor you were created from
In fact, the Clone Wars tv show highlights that each clones is their own persons
They have their own identities, personalities, names that is not Jango Fett
Even Boba Fett, the unaltered clone of Jango, is his own person
Therefore that same logic has to be applied to the Palpatine clone
Alongside that, it is somewhat canon that Sidious can transfer his consciousness into another body, hence how he is able to achieve immorality
Once his consciousness is in that body, he becomes that person (considering he’s much stronger than them mentally as well, he probably kills their mental state so they can’t try to take control)
Either way, he transfers to that body and is himself
The Palpatine clone left
Escaped
Who knows (probably escaped tho is the likeliest option)
He ran as far away as he could
Not only that but more than likely, he did not take Palpatine as a last name (1. Because it’s obvious that that’s the Emperor’s name and 2. Just like the clones, there was no connection to Palps that even sentimentally would he take that name [none of the clones were raised by Fett nor chosen to be his son - and same with Palps. Palps didn’t make clones to raise them as sons nor to create a legacy so why would a clone consider Palps a viable option to take his name when no doubt, he knew he was never a Palpatine])
He was his own person and to say Rey is a Palpatine reduces him to just being Palpatine himself
And that’s insulting and that logic must be standard across the eras therefore saying that is similar to saying Rex is not his own person but Jango Fett
It’s simply not true
We would never say that of Rex, Cody, not even Boba
So why assume that this Palpatine clone that ran away is Palpatine?
That’s my hot take
They’ll be a part 2 soon on the name thing as well because I got a bone to pick with that

REVISITED & REVAMPED
Nova Palpatine, more commonly known as Nova Hux, is a human female Force sensitive within the First Order. She was an apprentice of Ben Solo, a human male dark side user who gone by the name of Kylo Ren. They shared a very unique Force-bond which connected their minds across space and time; it was a result of their nature as a dyad in the Force.
Nova was born on Bracca in 5 ABY which caused a tremor in the Force that was felt by numerous Force sensitives such as Luke Skywalker, and the Sith Eternal. Her father, Cassius, was a genetic engineered son of the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine. He and his wife, Miramir, hid their daughter who inherited the Emperor’s connection to the Force from his strandcast brother Avellian. Believing they’d be safer, Cassius parted from his wife and child, leading his brother and his followers astray. Her mother eventually began a relationship with a man named Erik Dathan who was a junk trader on Hyperkarn and the two had a daughter that they named Rey.
When the Sith occultist Ochi, on orders from Avellian, endeavored to find Nova, her mother and stepfather hired Unkar Plutt to hide the two girls on Jakku within the Niima Outpost until they returned. When they hadn’t, Plutt considered Nova and Rey in debt to him and required the two young girls to work for him to pay it back. During one scrapping mission Nova was taken and was forced to work as a slave, being passed off to other merchants and travelers which led her off world. She ended up on a forested planet where an old Alderaan guard named Bylsma found and raised her as a surrogate daughter for the next few years until a First Order ship crashed and she met General Armitage Hux and the dark warrior Kylo Ren.
With vigorous training on the First order’s Finalizer and in the icy woods of the hallowed out planet once called Ilum but now a superweapon capable of destroying entire star systems called Starkiller Base, Nova grew exceptionally skilled in martial arts due to muscle memory that been expanded on. Under Kylo’s teaching she learns how to utilize the Force to her full potential and bend it to her will.
