Their Daughter Part 6
Tenison was high in the dining room of Grimmuald Place as the Black brothers stared one another down. Regulus knew that part of Sirius's anger was because he thought he had lost his child to his brother, much like when they were young, and their parents favored Regulus over him. But this was Sirius's own fault; Ali had tried even after she had been hurt that Sirius went to Harry first. Sirius could not get over the fact that Ali was close with the Malfoys and had taken to projecting his anger to the only person who would love him more than anything if he tried.
Sirius wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was jealous of Regulus. He always had been, but coming back from the hell he had been trapped in to find that his own daughter had chosen his brother over him hurt more than any torture he had ever faced. Regulus had always been the perfect child who everyone adored. He had gotten fewer beatings as a child than Sirius, had gotten better grades in school, and now was considered a dad to Ali. It was only natural for Sirius to go back to what he did during his school years and focus his attention on the people who showed him attention. Harry was his godchild, but Harry also had no one else, meaning Sirius didn't have to worry about being replaced. Sirius also felt awful for the events that transpired the night of James and Lily's deaths and was trying to make up for it.
"If you just gave her a chance, you may find she is much more like you than you think." Regulus sat at the table again, watching his older brother run his hands through his hair. "She is so headstrong and stubborn that I know it revivals yours. And I cannot express enough how she just wants to be good enough for you to love, much like how you tried for years with Mother."
Sirius sighed in defeat, regrettting the painful things he had put his daughter through. "I do love her. I just…."
"Are shit at showing it. I saw the look in your eyes when Ali called me dad; I know that hurt you. But instead of talking about it, you just lash out at her or me or Remus, making it seem like you really don't care at all. I never tried to fill that role in her life. I was and will always be Uncle Reg, and that is fine. Do I see her as my child and love her like my own? Yes, absolutely. I will do anything for her, and if that fills that role as a father, I will. But I don't want to take that from you. You had so much stolen from you in your life, Sirius: your childhood, your parents, your best friend, 12 years of your life. The last thing I want to do is take more away, but I cannot and will not put you above her. She deserves so much in this world, and you should help her get it. We both should. But the question remains: will you put aside your 'every Slytherin is a Death Eater' mindset to do so? Because people have changed and we are close to the Malfoys, Notts, Parkinson's, and the Zabini's. They are not the same people anymore. Things have changed in the war; sides have changed. But you haven't. Ali is loyal to a fault and is a great judge of character; she won't betray the Order, nor will the others. Just give people a chance, Sirius."
"I did give people a chance, and it…..it got my best friend and his wife killed. We trusted Peter. I trusted Peter enough to have James make him the secret Keeper. It got them killed, and he was our friend. How am I supposed to trust that Lucius Malfoy has the Order's best interest at heart when my own friend of 9 years didn't?" Sirius started pacing before his brother. His head is cloudy in memories, tears blurring his eyes as his best friend's dead body flashed in front of him. "I know that I'm shit at showing Ali I love her, and part of it is because I'm scared to get close only to lose her again to someone like Lucius Malfoy. I owe it to James to look after Harry, but that doesn't mean I don't love him like my own because I do. But I love Ali just as much, and I know she has you, Remus, and even Snivillious to love her. And I want to try to improve things with her; I just don't know how. How do I fix what I've done, Regulus?"
Regulus caught the double meaning to his brother's question, "You can't. Sirius, you can't fix what happened to James and Lily. You can't fix how you've treated Ali so far."
Sirius felt his heart crack at his brother's words. He had hoped to get Ali back, but it seemed he had gone too far. He started for the stairs when Regulus continued.
"But that doesn't mean you can't fix it from now on. You can't change the past and bring James back, but you can make them proud by loving and protecting Ali and Harry. I mean, yeah, they don't get along now, but I think part of that is because he has seen and heard how you and James treated outsiders. I know they used to play together as babies, not that they would remember it, but Remus told me. Tell how close they were till everything happened, and bring them back together. Stop being afraid of losing Ali to someone when all everyone wants to do is love her and keep her safe. And maybe you don't trust Lucius or the others right now, but I trust them more than Dumbledore most of the time. And you should talk to Moody about the help Lucius has given the Order even if he refuses to say he has aligned himself with us." Regulus held his brother's shoulder, "Give them a chance. Don't let the other kids make remarks about Ali and her friends. Talk to her. I wouldn't start trying to act like her father, but maybe a friend? Or a really distant uncle. You'll figure it out, Sirius; you're smarter than you give yourself credit for."
Sirius followed his brother up the stairs, going to bed with hope, lighting a flame in his heart for the first time in years.
Days following the talk between Regulus and Sirius, Ali noticed that the golden trio had become slightly nicer to her. She does not make as many comments about her or her friends. She had no idea what was happening but wasn't going to complain. Regulus had come to her that morning telling her that he thought it a better idea if Blaise came to their house instead of her going over there. He believed it would show that the Slytherins were not as bad as all the others thought.
At first, Ali was hesitant about the idea. Still, after being reassured that Remus would be home as well as Regulus, Ali agreed. The thought of Blaise being at her house surrounded by her tormentors made her sick to her stomach. She wanted nothing more than to run away for a few days, but that ship had sailed, and it was only hours before Blaise arrived when Regulus called for 'those who live in this house meeting.' By the time Ali had gotten dressed and cleaned her room, everyone was already in the kitchen since it seemed to be the usual gathering place for the group. She straightened her sweater and did a quick glance down to make sure her outfit was still okay. It was slightly chilly in the house, so she had gone with a Bulgarian Quidditch sweater that was mainly red with black details and a pair of cropped black leggings with matching fuzzy socks. She and Blaise had already decided to stay for most of the day and then go and get dinner somewhere in Diagon Ally so she could change later. Remus and Regulus walked at the same time as Sirius and Harry.
"I'm assuming everyone is confused about why this meeting was called," Remus started. "There seems to be an assumption that Slyertians and those associated with them are all Death Eaters or traitors."
Scowls had overtaken most of the younger one's faces in the room, as well as Sirius's. Ali looked at her uncle, trying to figure out where this was going. She knew the reason was to inform everyone that Blaise would be here for a few days, but there was something else going on; she could feel it.
"After speaking with Dumbledore and getting his permission, not that I technically need the permission as it is my house, but nevertheless. A few individuals will be coming to stay here for the upcoming days, and there will be a couple of visitors as well." Regulus's eye caught Ali's, and gave her a wink just as the sound of footsteps entered the foyer. Ali was too short to see over everyone's heads to see who was there, but from the looks on a couple faces, including the elder Weasley, it was someone they were not fond of.
A flash of white hair caught Ali's eye as the group entered the kitchen. Her mouth dropped in shock as she took in her uncle Severus, leading the Malfoys, Blaise, and Theo towards Regulus and Remus. Cissa shot her a wink while Draco eyed Harry and Sirius up and down; Blaise kept his eyes locked on Ali, and Theo thoroughly enjoyed the shocked looks from the Weasleys.
"Sorry, we're late. Draco took too long in the mirror this morning," Severus said. Draco glared at his Godfather before continuing on with his glare at Potter.
"Well, allow me to introduce everyone. This is Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, which I'm sure almost all of you know. This is Blaise, Theodore, and Draco. Narcissa and Lucius will be in and out for the next bit trying to get caught up on Order business while the latter three will be staying here for a bit." Remus shook Lucius's hand before joining Dora beside Ali, who was bouncing on her toes, overly excited at the fact that it was going to be back to normal in the next couple of days.
"You can't be serious. They are staying here?" Sirius exclaimed, running his hand down his face before glaring at Lucius. "I still remember what you did, Malfoy."
"I don't often agree with Sirius, but Dumbledore said this was alright?" Arthur asked. Ali knew that the Malfoys hadn't been the kindest to the Weasleys in the past, and she felt sorry for them in that aspect, but Lucius was not the same man as he was during her first year. And Narcissa wouldn't hurt a flea.
Remus stepped forward again, "He did. Narcissa and Lucius will be helping with some scooting missions that are coming up since they know that area of town better and are considering joining the Order. The three brats are mainly for Ali, though."
"Did you miss us short stack?" Theo opened his arms for Ali, who jumped straight into them. Theo gave her a twirl before pulling on her braid. She barely had time to catch her breath before Draco had her spinning again and tickling her sides, making her squeal.
"Of course I missed you! What kind of question is that?!" Ali giggled before hugging Blaise despite her uncle Remus glaring at them. Blaise took her hand and gave it a squeeze when they parted before facing the other children in the room. Theo and Draco took the opposite sides of Ali, showing a united front against the ones who had been horrible towards her.
Ali was ecstatic that they were going to be in the house more. Maybe her summer wouldn't end so badly. Sirius was shocked that Dumbledore had cleared this and even more shocked that Lucius would help the Order. He did not trust him and would go on those missions even if he had to go as Padfoot. This was outrageous and downright stupid, allowing death eaters to snoop freely in the Order business. Looking at his daughter, he could see how happy she was to be surrounded by her friends, but he also knew that he would have to keep a closer eye on her than he already was. He had asked the trio to play nice so he had more people watching her. He did trust that she was a Death Eater, and now he was surrounded by them.
"Al, Kreatcher sat up extra beds in your room for the boys. Pansy should be joining later, but she had something come up with her grandfather. Her mother said she would owl when she was on her way." Regulus leveled each of the boys with a look. "You lot know the rules. I don't care if you have fun but clean up after yourselves, and don't be too loud when it gets late. Curfew is at 10pm and no later. If you are leaving the house, go in pairs at least and let one of the adults you know be aware of where you're going. You lot know the food is fair game, and Kretcher has already been instructed to grocery shop more often. The house is also fair game, but be respectful, please."
"Don't worry, Uncle Reg. I'll keep them in line," Draco smirked at the other three before Severus whacked him upside the head.
Ali turned and looked at the younger swarm of redheads and others in the room. She cleared her throat to get the attention on her, which made her take an unconscious step back toward Blaise and Draco. "Everyone, this is Theo, Blaise and Draco. I'm sure most of you know this, but just in case. You are welcome to join our fun, but we get if you don't want to." Ali pulled the boys out of the room after greeting her aunt and uncle. They sat on the living room floor with wizards, chess, and a few other games while a movie played in the background. Kreacher brought out snack trays for them, and the laughter was music to Regulus's ears after all the quiet he'd heard from Ali this summer.
Ali could feel the stares from those around them, most directed at Draco and her. She could see the disbelief every time Draco laughed or made a joke. This was the side of Draco that was rarely seen by others. An hour had passed before a chess match went on between Draco and Ali. Blaise sat to one side of Ali, and Theo was in the middle of her and Draco, watching the death match continue.
"What dare shall I have you do this time, Als" Draco taunted her while he moved his piece. It was an ongoing rule that when she and Draco played wizarding chess, the loser had to do a dare of the winner's choice. It was always a toss-up in who won, as both were incredibly good at the game.
"Don't think too hard; I wouldn't want to overwork that one brain cell of yours." Ali stuck her tongue out at Draco when she stole his knight.
Draco was about to reply when a shadow came over the top of the board. Looking up, there was the eldest two Weasley children and Fleur. Ali could see the hearts in Theo's eyes before she kicked him in the shin. "She's engaged, you idiot."
Bill and Charlie chuckled, "We saw you guys playing games and were curious if we could join you? I have my board and thought we could do a little tournament."
Charlie held up his chess board. The teens all nodded, and with a snap of his fingers, Charlie's board was all set up. Bill took one side of the board before looking at Theo. "You up for a challenge?"
Theo crawled to the opposite side of the small table. Bill made the first move, and the game commenced. Charlie and Fleur took seats around the rest of them and started trash-talking with them, too. Charlie was on Ali's side, whereas Fleur took Dracos. Regulus, Molly, and Narcissa looked around the corner and had smiles spread across their faces at the sight they saw. It wasn't the younger kids trying to get along with the others, but the eldest and Molly knew that her children all looked up to their brothers, so maybe there was hope in this crazy plan after all.

Drabble request from 🦄 anon: Regulus teaches Wolfstar!daughter how to ballroom dance.
A/n — French translations from DeepL app so if anyone realizes something is off tell me and I’ll change it!
Send me a request here.
Tumblr media
“C'est bon, essayons encore une fois, chère nièce.“
Regulus is endlessly patient with you, even as you step on his feet every two seconds. At seven years old, ballroom dancing is much harder than you thought it would be. You’d never had to practice so much coordination before! And it was hard to remember when you were supposed to turn. But you’re not so worried. Your uncle Regulus says that it’ll get easier as you learn more and you were very eager to do so.
“One two three, one two three, one two three, switch. one two three, one two three, one two three, switch. one two three, one two three, one two three, turn! Bon travail!” You smile happily as you remember to switch directions almost seamlessly. You don’t notice how you were late on the turn or how you stumbled a little on your second switch. Regulus doesn’t point it out either as you bounce on your toes happily. Just as he’s about to suggest a break and a victory snack a soft knock sounds on the wall of the ballroom.
You turn quickly to see your dad standing there. From the way Sirius is smiling, Regulus knows he saw everything. However surprisingly; it doesn’t embarrass him. If there had to be two people he let his cold facade slip in front of he’d rather it be his brother and niece. You squeal and run up to him quickly. He catches you just in time. “Papa! Did you see me?! I danced like a real princess!” Sirius’s grin holds nothing but fondness as he answers. “I did! You were like a princess! A very graceful one!” He ruffles your hair to get a laugh out of you and of course, it works. He looks back up at his younger brother, his smile still present; only softer. He gives him an appreciative nod. Both of them know it means more than that though. They aren’t ready to say it out loud, so Regulus just nods back.
“Papa, Uncle Reggie has chocolate croissants,” you say in a voice very serious for a seven-year-old. “Can we have some?” Sirius debates; knowing he probably shouldn’t allow you to spoil the dinner you’ll have in a few hours. “One,” He settles. And you’ll have extra veggies at dinner time.” You furrow your eyebrows, seemingly thinking about his proposition. “Okay, deal. Come on uncle Reggie! Snack time!” Sirius puts you down and you run ahead to the kitchen. The two men follow behind you, affection and amusement clear on there faces.

hiya elle!!!
could i request a first-time dad sirius fic of siri introducing his baby to the other marauders?? 🩷🩷
so. stinkin'. cute.
dad!Sirius Black x mom!reader who are introducing their first child to the Marauders
You felt as though you were experiencing the world through glasses that weren’t your exact prescription, riding out the last of the adrenaline coursing through your veins after the past 24 hours. You were floating in this liminal space between discomfort and euphoria, pain and joy, worry and love.
You thought perhaps though the love was beginning to win out.
You were sitting in your hospital bed as you watched Sirius gently bounce the tiny bundle he was holding up to his face.
“Isn’t her nose just perfect, sweets?” He asked you (for quite possibly the 13th time in the four hours your daughter has been earth side) without moving his gaze from said nose.
“So perfect.” You agreed readily, smiling softly at the picture and hoping that this image in your memory didn’t fade as you became more lucid.
There was a gentle knock before a mop of wild hair and a pair of spectacles shoved its head in through the door to your room.
James gasped quietly yet no less dramatically as he looked between you and Sirius.
“Can we come in?” He whispered, adorning quite possibly one of the biggest smiles you’d even seen on him (which was really saying something, considering he has been notoriously sunny since the day you met him), before Lily shoved her head in just below his.
“I promise we’ll behave.” She added.
Sirius chuckled and nodded his head in invitation. “You were never the one we were worried about, Red.”
In a way that only happened throughout the history of humanity at the precise moment family members or loved ones entered the room of a newborn and their parents; Lily, James, and Peter all tiptoed in, for some reason even hunching low as if their lack of height would somehow make them any quieter.
James gasped again as he and Lily peered over Sirius’ shoulder to get a glimpse of the newborn in his hands; all three friends sharing identical beaming grins. “She’s beautiful, Sirius.” Lily whispered in awe.
“Bloody perfect, is what she is.” James agreed, leaning around Sirius to look at you. “Way to go, mum. Brilliant job you’ve done.”
“Thank you, Jamie.” You replied, turning a little shy as Sirius turned his lovesick gaze to you, which was very embarrassing considering he literally just watched you push his fucking child out of your crotch.
“What’s her name?” Peter asked, standing in front of Sirius like an eager kid waiting for their turn to pick a toy from the treasure box.
“This is Aurora Jubilee.” Sirius said proudly, turning his daughter slightly so that Pete could get a look.
“Bloody perfect.” James reiterated when you heard a quiet commotion outside your hospital room.
“I said I was sorry, Reg. The baby can’t tell time yet, she won’t know you’re late!”
You then heard something that sounded an awful lot like someone being whacked with a bouquet of flowers.
“Idiot.” Regulus hissed. “I’m trying to make a good impression; just because you don’t worry whether or not Harry finds his uncle to be untimely doesn’t mean I want to set the same precedent for my niece. Tu as tellement de chance tu es une bonne baise.”
The door pushed open slightly further as Remus and Regulus quietly stepped in, furious blushes adorning their faces when they realised that you all had paused in order to eavesdrop on their conversation.
“How nice of you to finally join us, little brother. Your niece has been asking for you.” Sirius deadpanned.
Regulus scoffed and Remus grimaced as Regulus came rushing over to your side and pressed a kiss to your hair. “How are you doing, mama?” He asked, pulling back to consider your form as Remus pressed his own kiss to your head.
“I’m good, uncle Reggie, thank you.” You smiled at him.
“Good.” He said with a curt nod. “I worry, leaving you in the care of my brother - you deserve better.”
“Sod off.” Sirius muttered, causing Lily to gently swat at his back.
“Watch your mouth, Sirius. There are little ears now.”
“Yeah, watch your fucking mouth, Sirius.” Remus volleyed.
“Christ, our kids are doomed.” Lily complained as she moved to sit on the end of your bed.
“Okay, I can’t take it anymore; let me hold her.” James demanded, making grabby hands to Sirius.
“Okay but Prongs, I swear to god if you fumble this like you fum-”
“I didn’t fumble that pass! You threw it too hard!” James quickly negated with a petulant whine.
Moving in slow motion, Sirius relinquished his hold on his new favourite person into James’ capable and seasoned dad hands before moving to perch himself beside you on your bed.
“‘Lo, Aurora. I’m uncle Prongs; your favourite. I’m going to buy you so many stuffies, your dad and mum will need to buy a second place  just to have somewhere to put them all. And Haz is going to be the best big cousin you could ever ask for; he’s already trying to convince me to buy you a bike so you guys can ride together. And-”
“Okay.” Lily interrupted. “My turn.”
James harrumphed but acquiesced and passed her over to his wife.
“She has her mummy’s nose.” Lily cooed, causing Sirius to gently pull you into his side and pressing his nose into your hair.
“That’s what I’ve been saying.” He said, causing you to snort.
“No. You just kept saying it was perfect.” You argued.
“Exactly.”
“Let’s just hope you have your mummy’s smarts, too.” Lily concluded, passing Aurora to Pete.
“Oi!”
“Hi, ‘Ro.” Peter said, smiling down at the infant as she started to stir slightly. “No, no. Please don’t wake up. Oh god, oh god, James take her - take her! I’m not ready for this!”
“Oh hand her ‘ere.” Remus mumbled, moving to take the tiny bundle from his mate. “Wormy smells, doesn’t he, little love?” He cooed at the baby who, much to Peter’s chagrin, stopped fussing immediately.
“Oh you and I are going to get into so much trouble, darlin’. I’m going to teach you so many swear words, and I’ll help you prank your dad any time you want - you just give me a ring and I’ll be there.”
Any contention between Remus and Regulus from their arrival melted quickly as Regulus leaned into Remus’ side to gaze at the newest Black family member.
“You wanna hold her, love?” Remus asked him quietly, causing Regulus to shake his head quickly.
“I don’t want to hurt her.”
Sirius scoffed. “Please, we let Peter hold her.”
“Sod off!”
“What if I drop her?” Regulus continued.
“Just don’t drop her. God, you’re a weird bloke.” Sirius muttered under his breath, though Regulus seemed to catch it as he levelled his brother with a glare.
His face softened considerably as Remus shifted his hold in order to transfer Aurora into Regulus’ careful arms.
He spent a few moments just looking down at his new niece, a silent conversation seeming to pass between them as Remus reached around him to stroke the downy soft skin on the side of her face.
“Okay, I’ve only known Aurora for three minutes; but if anything ever happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.” He said simply.
Peter let out a nervous laugh before he realised Regulus was quite serious.
“Good.” Sirius said with a nod. “That’s why we picked you to be her godfather.”
Regulus’ head whipped up at that as he seemed to strengthen his hold on the baby in his arms.
“You what?”
“If anything ever happened to us, we know you’d do everything in your power to give her a good life - the best life.” You explained.
“I- but…really?”
“Yeah.” Sirius said emphatically. “Besides, you inherited all of mother and father’s dirty money anyway, might as well use it to spoil our girl.”
Though there were clearly tears forming in Regulus’ eyes, he turned his attention back to his goddaughter with a derisive scoff.
“I was planning on doing that anyway, Sirius. Je suis vraiment désolé de te dire ça, Aurora, mais ton père est un idiot.”
Remus snorted. “Already teaching her important life lessons.”
“Get bent, Moony.” Sirius sneered.

Killing Butterflies Masterlist
Harry James Potter x fem! daughter of Regulus Black! reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Being (Y/n) Black - the one and only heiress to the noble house of Black - who also happens to be the daughter of the infamous Regulus Arcturus Black (and the niece of the notorious criminal Sirius Black) is pretty tough to be frank. However, despite the titles, rules and expectations that befall you, there are only two things that you long for, at which you will not cease to achieve: Firstly, to fill in the big shoes left behind by your late father. And secondly, burn the butterflies that flutter within your stomach in the presence of Harry Potter (who happens to be the sworn enemy of, perhaps, your entire family).
Prologue:
'When had the pangs in his heart become so painful? So loud? He hadn’t a clue. So, when Regulus found it within himself to straighten up and gently remove his hand from your grasp, he didn’t register it – the complete and utter sadness taking hold of his nerves and paralysing them like snake venom. He silently pressed his lips to your forehead in a final goodbye.' OR: in which the vague exposition of Killing Butterflies is revealed.

Link to Part 3
Song at the beginning: “Sound of your heart” by Shawn Hook
_______
Baby, I'm in love with you, Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating. Baby, you were mine to lose. Oh, and I'm missing the sound of your heart beating
The whole journey to New York, Regulus didn’t say a word. He sat looking dead ahead with a cold expression on his face. Sirius had tried to say something a few times only for his brother not to respond. Giving up, Sirius leaned back and left Regulus to his thoughts.
Little did he know, Regulus was internal panic. He was furious with himself. You had come to him. Regulus had been pleading with any deity that would listen to bring you back home to him…where you belonged for three years. You came home and he ordered you to get lost.
What kind of husband am I?
Regulus thought in misery.
She came home to me and I told her that I never wanted to see her again. What the fuck was I thinking? She probably won’t want to see me.
“Reg, she will talk to you. She wouldn’t have come back to England if there wasn’t some love left in there for you.”
Sirius finally said. He had nearly had enough of sitting in awkward silence. Regulus took a breath.
“You didn’t scream at her to get the fuck out and that you never wanted to see her again. That was all me. God damn, I am an idiot. I lost my shit when she mentioned Mila. I’ve been selfish, Sirius. I was only thinking about myself. I didn’t think of how Y/n was feeling. She tried to keep us together after Mila died and I just quit. She begged me to open up and I wouldn’t.”
Sirius frowned. He was trying to think of the right things to say but everything seemed wrong.
“Regulus, again, no one blames you for how you have acted. If it were me and Mila was my daughter I would have fallen apart too. I may not understand your loss from a parent’s perspective but I still grieve my niece. You need to be honest with Y/n. Tell her how you feel. If you love her, tell her. If you aren’t honest then you could lose her forever.”
Regulus only nodded. For once, Sirius was right. Regulus did need to tell you. This time, he couldn’t just let his temper take control.
I have to be strong for her…for her, I will.
(later that day)
You sat on your couch with a glass of wine in hand. It had been one long day! After getting back to New York, you once again decided to throw yourself into your work. The more that you worked then the less time you would have to dwell on your failed meeting with Regulus.
“I don’t want your fucking help! You’re nothing to me! The day I signed those goddamn divorce papers that you wanted so much…you stopped being anything to me. Now get the fuck out. I don’t ever want to see you again.”
Your heart ached thinking of Regulus’ cold words. While you didn’t expect him to welcome you back with open arms, you had expected him to be more receptive. You had “hoped” that the three years that had passed would open him to more dialogue about life after Mila’s death. Clearly, that wasn’t the case. Regulus seemed as unhinged and devastated as he did at the moment Mila died in his arms.
Lying back on the couch, you once again mentally chastised yourself for asking for the divorce.
If I was any kind of a wife, I would never have left him.
You thought before shoving the thought from your mind. As you had told Regulus, there was no right way to grieve. You were grieving as badly as Regulus was. Instead of coming closer together the two of you fell closer apart…
A knock on the door interrupted your thoughts. You stood up and moved to put your wine glass in the sink before going to the door. From the best of your memory, you weren’t expecting anyone. None of your new friends had mentioned dropping by. Most of them were out of town on a skiing trip.
“I’m coming.”
You called, running a hand through your messy hair before reaching for your front door. The moment the door opened, you were extremely shocked to see Regulus on the other side. You felt your mouth fall open for a moment as you locked eyes with your husband… ex-husband…whatever…
“Regulus, what are you doing here?”
I managed to get out. Regulus pressed his lips together before taking a deep breath.
“I had to talk to you. I couldn’t let you go again…can we talk?”
You moved aside to let Regulus inside. Never in a million years, did you expect him to come after you. You actually expected to never see or hear from Regulus again.
And just like that, he’s here.
You thought before leading Regulus into the living room.
“Did you come alone?”
You asked, softly. Regulus shook his head. He had ditched Sirius at a hotel. Regulus didn’t care what plans Sirius had. All of Regulus’ focus was on you and you alone.
“No, Sirius is at a hotel. Y/n, I am so sorry about how I talked to you. You didn’t deserve any of that. You came back with good intentions and I was a dick.”
“Reggie, I…”
Regulus held up a hand. He looked at you with pleading eyes as if begging you to hear him out. You sat down across from Regulus with a gentle expression on your face.
“Let me finish, please. I don’t think I will be able to get this out if I don’t say it all now. Y/n, I don’t blame you. I don’t blame you for leaving. You needed me and I wasn’t there for you. After Mila died, I felt like my life was over. I wanted to die right along with her but I couldn’t…I had you. You and I still have a life. I never should have signed those divorce papers. I didn’t want to be without you then and I don’t want to now.”
You felt the tears begin to well in your eyes.
“Can we make it work? We’ve both changed…I can’t go through another divorce again. I’ve lost you once and the thought of losing you a second time…I just can’t…”
Regulus reached out and took your hand in his. You swallowed seeing that he still wore his wedding ring. Regulus stroked his finger over your engagement and wedding ring.
“I will do everything that I can to ever stop that from happening. As you said, Mila wouldn’t want us to be apart.”
Regulus waited a moment before moving to kneel in front of you. His grey eyes were hype focused on your face looking for any sign of displeasure or distrust. Regulus was thankful to see none. He knew that you were trying not to cry. You were trying to be brave but your resolve was fading.
Reaching up he gently brushed a stray tear away from your cheek before taking your hand back in his.
“Y/n, I loved you from the moment that I saw you. I know you always thought that was foolish teenage boy talk but it's true. Please don’t make me be alone again. The last three years without you have been hell.”
You swallowed back a sob before sliding down onto Regulus’ lap.
“I love you too. I’ve never stopped.”
That was all that Regulus needed. He leaned forward to capture your lips in a soft sweet kiss. Wrapping your arms around his shoulders, you moved to deepen the kiss. Placing a leg on either side of Regulus’ body you gently sucked at his bottom lip.
“I need you, Reggie.”
A small smile played at the corner of his lips.
“I need you more.”
He moved to lift you into his arms as you glanced over his shoulder.
“My bedroom is over there.”
Regulus chuckled, nuzzling his face to yours.
“Oh, I would find it or we would just make love on the floor…it wouldn’t be the first time.”
Once in the bedroom, you stood with your face tucked under Regulus’ chin gently kissing his neck.
“I love you.”
You murmured, enjoying each kiss pressed to his creamy skin. Regulus’ eyes were closed while he breathed slowly.
“Love you more.”
Regulus replied before tilting your face back to his. Grey eyes looked into yours for a brief moment before Regulus thrust his tongue into your mouth. Your heart fluttered as you couldn’t believe the actuality of this moment. Regulus wanted you. He wanted you as badly as you wanted him.
As your hands moved to unbutton his shirt, Regulus hand’s shot up to grab yours.
“Wait, before we go any further, please be my wife again? I know that we aren’t exactly who we were 3 years ago but we can learn. We can make it work.”
You stood on your tiptoes to wrap yourself back around his neck. Regulus was right. Both of you had changed but parts of you were still the same. The night Mila died parts of both of you died right along with her but other parts of both of you lived. The parts that lived needed the other.
“I’ll always be your wife. Our hearts understand each other…We did then and we still will now.”

Baby Black always greets Walburga’s portrait when she passes/stays at Grimmauld Place. Like yeah she’s a HUGE JERK but that’s also her nana so? Might as well? Usually it’s sarcastic like “Well hello to you TOO madam” but the day Walburga starts coming at BB talking about how Regulus would be ashamed (of both her existence as a half blood & the way she turned out) that’s the day she hexes the painting to click like a chicken for a week & storms off to her room.
BABY BLACK I CANNOTTTT
-
You weren’t sure exactly how you’d managed to hex that god awful painting. One minute, you’d been trying to think of an insult to throw back at your grandmother and the next, her oily nose had grown into a long, yellow chicken beak and she was clucking hysterically.
It should’ve been funny. If you’d hung around to admire your work, you would’ve been commended by Fred and George or earned a chuckle from Lupin. But you didn’t. Instead, you stormed up to your room, slamming the door behind you.
Well, not your room. Your father’s room.
Your father who would have hated you.
On some level, you knew that your grandmother was spewing a load of shit. She was already off her rocker and the sudden return of her estranged son and all his mudblood loving little friends, including a werewolf, were very trying on the old brush strokes. But still, you couldn’t help but wonder if...she was right.
“MY SON WOULD BE ASHAMED TO HAVE SUCH A FILTHY DAUGHTER YET YOU PRANCE AROUND HERE LIKE HE WOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED YOU AS HIS OWN”
You could still hear her smirk as she shrieked that he would’ve been revolted to see the disgrace you brought to his face and the Black family name.
The cruel taunts played over and over in your head as you paced the floor of Regulus’ old room, your fists clenched in rage. A small movement from the desk caught the corner of your eye; the picture of your father from his quidditch days. His green Slytherin uniform shimmering in the wind as he sat on his broom, flashing the camera the only smile you’d seen any evidence of. Other than your own, of course.
Clutching the frame, you sat down at the end of your bed. Whatever he was smiling about, he looked proud. If you closed your eyes and pretended he was right in front of you, you could almost imagine that he was giving you that look at pride. Regulus couldn’t have hated you, right?
A soft knock came at the door and you only acknowledged it with a grunt. The door opened and closed and then Sirius was sitting next to you, looking over your shoulder at the photograph.
“What did that old bitch say to you?”
“That my dad would’ve hated me.”
Sirius stiffened, which did nothing for your stress. He put a hand on your shoulder and gave you the kindest smile he could muster.
“Regulus wasn’t the most loving person but he would never never have hated you. His family was always most important to him, even when he was a Death Eater-”
“He was a Death Eater?”
Sirius cringed. He had forgotten to ask if you were aware of that or not. You stood up and began to pace, glaring at the happy photo.
“So he would’ve hated me. He would’ve despised me. He would’ve actively tried to kill me!” You ranted, your hands shaking from how hard you were grasping onto the photo. Part of you wanted to throw it against the wall and part of you wanted to hug close to you and never let go. Either way, you’d never felt lower.
“Darling, take a breath-”
“I can’t, not when my own dad would’ve seen me as-as-as nothing but a mudblood!”
“My parents-”
“Didn’t join a group trying to kill people like you!”
Sirius stood, putting his hands on your shoulders to stop your pacing. He took the picture from your hands and tossed it onto the bed before turning back to you.
“(y/n), listen to me. My brother was an idiot who bought into all the terrible things our parents told us. He was an idiot and went and joined Voldemort. You deserve to know that and I’m sorry I didn’t say anything earlier.” He said and for the first time, you noticed how haunted your uncle’s eyes really were, “But you also deserve to know that he tried to leave the Death Eaters and that’s why he died. I always thought that he had gotten in over his head but now that I know about you...love, you’re probably the reason why he wanted to leave. He didn’t want anything to happen to you because he loved you.”
Sirius’ face began to blur as tears filled your eyes. A sob escaped you and Sirius pulled you into a hug. You let yourself cry against his shoulder as he rested a hand on the back of your head, rocking you slightly.
“Reg didn’t hate you, he wouldn’t have hated you. He kept you safe from the rest of our family, he left you the house. You would’ve been his pride and joy. I can practically hear him bragging about you to me.”
You let out something that sounded like a mix between a cry and a laugh. With a small squeeze, he continued,
“I still love you. Remus and Tonks love you. Hell, Molly would probably pack you up and take you back to the Burrow with her, if I’d let her. Your family loves you, even your dad got caught with a bad crowd.”
Pulling back, he wiped your tears away - like a good father would, you thought. You couldn’t bring yourself to smile but you weren’t frowning quite so hard now, which Sirius decided to take as a win.
“You’re tired. Why don’t you take a nap and I’ll come get you when dinner’s ready.”
You nodded wordlessly, afraid that if you tried to speak, your voice wouldn’t work. Sirius seemed to understand as he gave you one more hug before turning to leave. Flicking the light off for you, he turned back, “Just...think on it. And think about what else we could turn my mother into.”
With that, he shut the door, leaving you by yourself. You took up his suggestion, crawling into the bed you’d made your own. For a few minutes, you stared at the picture of your father, trying to imagine when the happy teenager had become so overwhelmed with hate. You thought about what Sirius had said, about how he thought that you might be the reason Regulus had left the Death Eaters. You wanted the idea to make you happy and proud of him but at the same time, you couldn’t push away the notion that if you were the reason he’d tried to leave, then you were also the reason he’d died.
The harsh words of your grandmother began to ring through your head again and you shoved the photo under your pillow, turning over and shutting your eyes.

Paring: Regulus Black X Daughter!Reader
Summary: At first it was for him, now everything he does is for her.
Warnings: Rape, cursing, death, etc
Being wise comes with living. Dumbledore had lived a lot of years. Everyone knows that. The man worked his way up the hierarchy from being a Transfiguration teacher to the headmaster at Hogwarts. He was even offered a place as the Minister of Magic. What people didn’t comprehend or, rather, didn’t think about was, when living that long you realize every button to push, every nook and cranny to get your way.
Manipulation at its finest. Now, truth be told, manipulation isn’t always evil. It can be good, per se, manipulating someone to stop doing something that’s particularly harmful - alcohol, smoking. But when used negatively, it could make everything worse.
The Order of the Phoenix was manipulated. From beginning to end. Dumbledore convinced the young kids - naive kids - that they were safe and that’s what they needed. These kids needed reassurance that everything would be okay, and Dumbledore assured them that they were safe.
But were they safe when the McKinnon family died? Were they safe when Fabian and Gidian Prewett died? Could James and Lily truly depend on Dumbledore to keep them safe with a newborn?
When Sirius Black joined the order, he had one request. Just one. A linear, singular request. It was saving Regulus Black. That’s all Sirius wanted, was for his little brother to be safe. Sirius knew about Regulus being a death eater, and he needed saving. Regulus didn’t want this life, and he especially didn’t want this with a baby girl.
He was seventeen, and he was forced. Sirius knew it. James knew it. Remus knew it. Regulus had come to the Gryffindor portrait crying on his knees, begging - no - pleading for his older brother. The Fat Lady was cursing him out for not having the password and being a Slytherin. Luckily, James heard the ruckus and ran to his aid. He was yelling for Sirius.
“Sirius! Sirius, I need you!” James had never sounded so frantic, so panicky, “Sirius, now!”
Sirius threw the textbook on the floor. James’ voice reminded him of an alarm - crazed, loud, repetitive. The black-haired boy ran down the dorm steps, almost falling over his feet to see the portrait wide open. Everything went in a vignette, zoomed in and black around the edges. Immediately Sirius was pushing James off his little brother and embracing him tightly.
“S- Sirius.”
Godric, he sounded so broken, “‘S okay, Reggie. ‘S okay. I got you. It’s me, Sirius. You’re safe here, Frère.”
“It- It hurts.” Regulus muttered, his voice shaky and helpless, “Need you.”
“You’re okay.”
Sirius looked up into James’ worried hazel eyes, “C’mon. We’re bringing him up.”
“Are you mental?!”
“James, he’s my brother!”
James scowled, “He’s also a Slytherin!”
“He needs me. I’m not letting him go.” It was the first time Sirius’ voice had gone stern with James, “Either I’m sleeping out here with my brother, or you’re helping me bring him up to the dorm.”
“Fine, fine.”
Sirius looked down at his brother, who was tucked under his chin, silver streams trailing down his flushed cheeks. His cheeks glistened with anguish and pain. His fists were balling the back of Sirius’ white button-up, tightly, stressed.
“Reggie.” For the first time, Regulus didn’t cringe, and instead, he melted into Sirius’ warmth, “James and I are going to bring you into our dorm, okay?”
“Mhm.”
Gently Sirius helped him up, placing an arm around his shoulder. James put his other arm around his shoulder. Both boys helped the sixth year into the Gryffindor common room, getting multiple stares and glares. Regulus managed to up the stairs onto Sirius’ bed, a sniffling and trembling mess.
James smiled gently at them, and Sirius sat beside Regulus on the edge of his bed, “What happened?”
“She- She forced me. I didn’t want to. Please, Sirius, I didn’t want this.”
“Want what?”
“She touched me.” Regulus whispered, and Sirius rubbed his back, “I- I didn’t want it….”
Sirius hesitated, “Did- Did mum have anything to do with this?”
Regulus nodded, and silent tears fell down his cheeks, “She- Mum, is the reason. I was supposed to be arranged to this woman but- but she did this and- and-“
“It’s too much.” Regulus wailed.
Sirius held his brother close until he fell asleep. The trails of tears dried on his cheeks, and Sirius laid his head on the feathery pillow. The fleece comforter was placed over his wrinkled button-up, black pants, and socks. Regulus’ black curls contrasted the pillow, and his cheeks were a pale pink. Sirius had never felt so upset.
Releasing a breath of air, he left the dorm room to go to the common room where the boys were sitting. James perked up, and Remus’ head was pulled into a book, a cup of tea on the table beside him. Peter was playing chess with a fellow Gryffindor across the room, not paying attention to anything but the checkered table before him.
“Is he okay?”
Sirius plopped beside James, “He will be.”
The silence was killing Remus to the point of his curiosity tipping over, “What happened exactly?”
“Some girl, my mum, arranged him with did something that he didn’t consent to.”
The teacup that was in Remus’ hand dropped to the carpeted floor, staining, “You’re shitting me?”
Regulus was in pain, physically and emotionally. Although the boys didn’t understand completely, they understood that Sirius’s time would be dedicated to his little brother. No matter what was going on in the wizarding world at present, Sirius’ time was needed with Regulus.
It was nine months later. Thirty-nine weeks later. Two hundred and seventy-three days later. Left on the doorstep of the Noble House of Black’s residence was a baby girl. Orion and Walburga had left the house previously, leaving Regulus alone with Kreacher, their house elf. The baby girl was crying and helpless.
His lifeless grey eyes met the young girl's e/c ones, and everything clicked. This was the product of his emotional pain in his sixth year. Regulus couldn’t deny the warmth in his heart looking at the young girl. Gently he leaned down to take her in his arms. A pink silk blanket wrapped around her to keep her warm despite the summer months.
Once in his arms, the girls stopped crying. The warmth of his body and the softness in his eyes calmed her down. There was an envelope inside the baby blanket, which Regulus opened after placing the sleeping child on his lap. Essentially the letter was telling him to name the baby girl and her birthday. Along with now that the marriage was called off, she wanted nothing to do with him.
Regulus threw the parchment to the side furiously. Despite his frustration, he picked up his daughter and smiled at her, “I dunno what to name you precious.”
The girl wrapped her hand around his thumb that had been caressing her cheek, “Y/n? I like that name.”
She smiled, and so did he, “You like that too, don’t you, précieux.”
Regulus placed a kiss on Y/n’s forehead, rocking her back and forth, “I love you so much.”
During the school year, Y/n stayed with Sirius, who was overjoyed to stay with his niece. Regulus only saw his daughter one more time before he decided it was his end. Regulus knocked on Sirius’ flat, looking utterly exhausted. Sirius answered with a big smile on his face.
“Heya Reggie!”
Regulus struggled to smile, “Hey, Siri.”
“Come on.” Sirius beckoned, “Y/n is sleeping, but you can see her if you’d like.”
He walked in to see a door open to a small room. Inside it was painted in a pale lavender color with white furniture. Regulus walked inside to find a crib with his one-year-old girl sleeping inside. She made this so much harder. Regulus didn’t want to do this, but he needed to do it if he wished Y/n to have a safe life.
Regulus’ arms cradled his daughter to his chest, “I love you, précieux. I love you too much to express. I know that you’ll never remember me. I’m praying that Sirius will tell you about me.”
“You’re my baby girl. You’ll always be my baby girl.” Regulus’ eyes welled with tears, “And- And I’ll be with you no matter what.”
Y/n’s eyes opened, and she smiled, being cradled in her father's arms, “Dada?”
Regulus had tears streaming down his face, and Sirius watched from the doorway, “Yes, hi petite fille.”
She giggled, and Regulus had the brightest smile on his face; he nuzzled his nose with hers, “Dada’s here, little girl.”
He spent an hour with her. The last sixty minutes of his freedom was spent cooing and coddling. Regulus wanted to engrave her beautiful e/c eyes in his head, her soft smile, smooth skin, and fuzzy hair. Regulus placed his daughter back in the crib and kissed her forehead one more time.
Walking back out into the living room of the flat, he saw Sirius waiting for him. Regulus didn’t make any appoint to try and sit down. That’s how Sirius knew was something wrong. He released an air of breath and dried his tears.
“Sirius, you may have to keep Y/n with you a little longer until it’s safe, okay?”
“‘Course Reggie.”
“If- If I don’t come back-“
“Don't say that, please.”
Regulus looked at his brother solemnly, “But it’s realistic.”
“Okay, just- try to make it back.” Sirius replied.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll try.” He lied, “I- I want you to tell her about me, yeah?”
Sirius chuckled, “You’re her father, Regulus. I wouldn’t not tell her.”
“Don’t let her mum take her. I don’t care what she says Y/n will be in your care.”
Sirius nodded, “One- One more thing. This may sound stupid but, teach her French?”
“Teach her French? Why?”
“It’s how I used to talk to her before seventh year started. I want her to know how to speak it. French was something I enjoyed learning, something that kept me sane at our horror house.” Regulus confessed, “I want her to learn it.”
“If it means that much to you, Reggie.” Sirius replied, and Regulus nodded, “It does.”
“Then Y/n will learn French, after English.”
“Good.”
Regulus began walking out the door when he felt arms around him from behind and a head in the crook of his neck, “Come back alive, okay?”
“I’m gonna try, Siri.”
He never came back alive. Regulus walked toward the entrance of that cave, knowing that today he was going to die. In the start, this was for Regulus to right his wrongs. Now it’s for his daughter. If anything, Y/n deserved a happy, exciting life. Not one of pain and suffering like Regulus had.
The Daily Prophet the next day said everything it needed to, “REGULUS BLACK DECLARED DEAD.” This was it. Regulus had inevitably left his daughter and got himself killed. Sirius cried - sobbed - for his little brother who had a child. He wept for his niece, who would grow up not knowing her father.
Ten years later, Y/n was getting ready for her first year at Hogwarts. Sirius had introduced baby Harry with one-year-old Y/n at the time where they became best friends. Harry was gravely disappointed at his best friend leaving but excited that he’d see her the following year.
In the bathroom, Y/n was sitting in front of the mirror with Sirius behind her. Sirius was brushing her hair, not because she couldn’t do it but because Sirius didn’t really want to let her go. After setting the brush on the counter, he placed his hands on her shoulders, looking at her in the mirror. She looked so much like him. His hands twirled through her h/c hair.
“You look like your father.”
Y/n’s eyes widened, “I- I do?”
“You do.”
“I don’t remember much from him.” Y/n stated, “I remember him calling me précieux, vaguely, which I know now is precious.”
Sirius chuckled, “He also made me teach you, French. It was one of his wishes before he- you know.”
“Why?”
“Learning French is a pure-blood thing. Regulus said it kept him sane.” Sirius answered, “I honored that even if I hated that language.”
It was silent for a while, “You know, sometimes when you’re angry, you just start ranting in French?”
“I don’t!”
Sirius laughed, “You do. You definitely do, amour.”
Y/n giggled, and Sirius began tickling her sides. Her laughter and smile were contagious, just like how Regulus’ was. Regulus had such an infectious laugh and beautiful smile. Sirius was almost glad Y/n inherited it. After tickling her, she melted into Sirius’ embrace, hugging him tightly.
“Je t'aime, oncle Sirius.”
“Je t'aime aussi, amour.”
It was a system Sirius had created with her instead of saying, “Toujours Pur,” like his mother had made him and Regulus say. Y/n is what made him love French again. The way she swore in the language unintentionally. How she’d say the language like a native, just like her father. It meant everything to him.
Years later. Y/n was in fifth year, and the Triwizard tournament members had just been called. Viktor Krum was called first. Then Fleur Delacour. Then Cedric Diggory. That was meant to be the finality, but nonetheless, Harry Potter’s name got called. As all the members walked into a room away from the Great Hall, Dumbledore began speaking to the worried children.
One sentence stood out to Y/n particularly, “Help will always be given at Hogwarts for those who deserve it.”
It brought so much rage in her that she couldn’t help but speak, “That’s bullshit!”
Everyone stared with jaws slack, “My father deserved help! Hell, he needed to be saved, and here because of your bullshit, he died! My father is gone because of you and your shitty manipulative ways!”
“He may have been a death eater, but it wasn’t what he wanted. Godric, he needed saving! His own brother turned on him. So fuck you and fuck your stupid sayings. Because you aren’t a saint, and I don’t have to fall to your knees like a worthless soldier.”
Dumbledore was astonished by her attitude as she began leaving the Great Hall, “That's one hundred points from Gryffindor, Ms.Black!” McGonagall yelled.
“Pardonnez mon français, mais je m'en fous.” Y/n yelled as she flicked off everyone in the room.
Before she left, she turned around and faced everyone, “If anyone- and I mean anyone, touches, talks badly, or even remotely glares at Harry Potter, so help me, I won’t hesitate to hex you.”

Regulus and wolfstar!daughter headcanons.
Toddler Wolfstar!daughter doesn’t let him or Sirius get away with ANYTHING. If they’re sibling squabbling and one of them says something even a little hurtful she’s demanding they apologize and threatening to put them in the corner. (Remus is backing her up a hundred percent.)
If she has something he feels like she can’t go to her dads or James and lily about she goes to him for advice.
Her most protective uncle.
He’s the one who suggests that Sirius teach her French. And everytime he’s visiting he gives her a pop quiz. She could he in the middle of telling him a story and he just interrupts her at random like “in french please.” She stumbles a bit at first but she always passes.
As a kid when he babysat her she would sit on his shoulders and plait his hair. She brought her own bows and everything. He pretends he hates it but if she ever forgets her bow bucket he suspiciously always has one.
Set in the canon universe, he would always keep the darkmark covered around her. Before she knew what it really was she just assumed it was a scar.

Moony 2.O
Remus Lupin x reader
Summary - Marauders a famous rock band composed of two fathers and the Black brothers. When Sirius proposed that Remus’ daughter shall sing a song, who is Remus to deny, but well, his wife can be a little apprehensive,
Warnings - None, just Remus with his little princess.
Regulus’ name given by @with-love-anu
"You sure about this, Remus?" (Y/N) asked, adjusting the leather jacket that he, Sirius, James and Regulus had brought for uniformity, in their Greenroom.
When Remus had told her about the band they wanted to start she was totally supportive and with the way it spread through people like wildfire she was more than just happy. Now, when Remus had brought up the idea that they get their 4-year-old daughter to sing a song in front of millions, (Y/N) was perturbed would be an understatement.
"I will be there on the stage and so will the rest of the boys," Remus consoled her, rubbing her arms and dropping a kiss to her forehead and pressed his lips to hers
"Moon-ugh, sorry," Sirius barged into the room and closed his eyes immediately.
Remus chuckled, "What's it, Sirius?"
"I just came to ask if you were ready?" Sirius said, his eyes still closed tightly.
"Black," (Y/N) warned, "Open your eyes,"
"He is snogging your face off," Sirius said.
"Black, I swear yo-"
"Mummy!" Little Sophia's voice broke through her weak threat.
"Darling," (Y/N) crouched allowing the little girl to jump into her arms, "You ready?"
"Yes!" She exclaimed, her eyes were painted with colours, her hair let free and loosely waving behind her.
"You look so beautiful, little one," Remus cooed, grinning.
"You can admire your daughter later, Remus," Regulus said, "But we are really getting late,"
"Yep, just give me a minute I will join you," Remus said. The three of them left with a nod.
"Mama will be there with you here, alright?" Remus said to his daughter, taking her in his arms and wrapping another arm around his wife's waist, "And when papa calls you from the stage your gonna come there and sing the song we rehearsed like a brave girl, OK?"
"Yes, papa!" Sophia replied with such enthusiasm and a wide grin on her face.
"That's my girl!" Remus beamed and pressed his lips to her forehead and gently allowed her to wiggle back to her mother, "Don't worry love,"
(Y/N) passed him an anxious smile and nodded. Remus pecked her cheek and rushed to the stage. The moment he stepped onto it, the roar of applause was absolutely loud.
Remus smiled widely as he took the microphone in his hand; the crowd roared even louder, losing their collective cool. It fueled Remus' passion to sing even more energetic.
"Alright," Remus said, after a song or two, placing the microphone back on its stand, beaming at the crowd, "I have a little someone for all of you to see,"
The crowd fell silent with murmurs of anticipation, and so did the rest of the member on stage. Wide grins on their faces as they recalled the memory of their little niece singing at the rehearsal.
"Well, you see, we had requested this someone to sing a song for us and they agreed so, Angel," Remus beckoned his daughter to come onto the stage, shooting his wife a wink.
When Sophia stepped onto the stage she was bewildered by the sheer amount of people before her, all yelling and hollering even louder than for her father, evidently frightening her.
She couldn't turn around and run back into her mother's comforting embrace and so, she looked at the stage and ran to her father, her arms wide open, immediately after she spotted him.
Remus crouched and picked up his daughter who came running to him as though desperately seeking protection and the only person she would see was her father.
Remus grinned proudly at his daughter, "This is my daughter, Sophia Hope Lu-"
The crowd hollered so loudly, Remus and the rest of them were afraid that every single one of the audiences in that mass ground before them would have a sore throat.
Remus chuckled, "Do you wanna speak something, darling? Say hello?"
Sophia looked at her dad, a silent conversation sparking with their eyes. She leaned into the warmth of her father and muttered a low, "Hello," into the microphone and this time the crowd cooed loudly. Remus barked a peal of laughter.
When it was time for Sophia to sing, Remus crouched next to her, and rested a hand on the small of her back comfortingly, and smiled, helping her with forgotten lyrics.
The crowd looked as though the shock they received was more than that lightning could give. Sure, Sophia had received her singing talent from Remus perhaps from (Y/N) too.
"Oh, my gods," (Y/N) said, an extremely wide grin taking over her feature as Sophia leaned forward from her place in her father's arms just to be caught by her mother, "You did amazing out there, sweetheart! I am so proud of you,"
(Y/N) peppered the little girl's face with kisses as Remus, Sirius, James and Regulus watched them, bright smiles on their faces.
"Alright then, ladies," Sirius said, wrapping an arm around (Y/N) and looking at Sophia, "What do you say, we go back home and watch a movie with pizza, for my dear darling's singing out there,"
"Yes, Uncle Pads!" Sophia yelled, jumping into Sirius' arms and kissing his cheek.
(Y/N) chuckled as she watched Regulus, Sirius, Sophia and James walking to the car, the back of the leather jackets printed with, 'Silverpaw', 'Padfoot', 'Moony 2.O' and 'Prongs'.
"She sang wonderfully, didn't she?" Remus asked, wrapping his arms from behind (Y/N) and swaying slightly.
"Absolutely. She is gonna grow up to be like her father." (Y/N) said, smiling fondly.
Remus spun her around and dipped her, smashing his lips onto hers.

Chapter Fourteen - Beware of The City
It seemed like good looks ran in the family, Regulus’ face was alight with joy, happiness burning in his eyes as he met his niece and nephew, it was the first time that you’d brought them to see him. He was looking quite well, he’d been so gravely injured that James wouldn’t allow anyone to see him – not even Sirius – he was worried that visitors would make Regulus’ condition worse.
As soon as James deemed Regulus fit enough to see people, you and Sirius were there in a flash, Sirius had barely left his side and you were proud of how much of a good brother Sirius was. Sirius grinned up at you, almost turning your legs to jelly in the process, and you combed your fingers through his inky black hair that was beginning to get long again and he sweetly pressed his lips against your cheek.
“Elena and Johnathan really are so beautiful, Y/N, they obviously take after you in that respect,” he smirked, glancing over at his older brother.
Instead of acting offended, Sirius simply inclined his head in a nod, “they certainly do take after their beautiful mother,” he cupped your cheek as he turned to look at you. There was so much adoration and love swimming in his eyes that butterflies fluttered in the pit of your stomach as your breath was momentarily stolen away. God, you loved him so much, every day you were thankful for him.
Blushing, you averted your eyes to the grey stone floor, “God, if you two keep saying things like that then I’m afraid my head will get so large that it won’t even be able to fit through that door,” you giggled, gesturing to the golden arched doorway behind you. The two brothers laughed as Sirius kissed along your knuckles, lacing his fingers through yours.
The thud of hesitant footsteps against the stone floor captured your attention and you saw the easy smile slide of Sirius’ face and it drained of colour. Almost at once, the atmosphere in the room switched from something that was very happy and light, to something stifling and tense. You turned around to see James lingering in the doorway, he shot an apologetic look at Regulus and you could feel Sirius tense behind you, it was time.
“I’m so sorry to break this up, but the court is assembled.”
Regulus nodded as he forced a smile at you and Sirius as he passed the twins back to you, “you don’t have to do this, Reg,” Sirius sighed and you could hear the pain in his voice, you wished that you could take it all away.
“Sirius is right, Reg.”
Regulus shook his head as he got out of bed, wincing as he did so, rejecting Sirius’ silent offer to help, “I have to, the court needs to know, I’ll be fine, lo prometo,” he assured you in Spanish, forcing out a tight smile. He was much too noble. You and Sirius both exchanged a worried glance as you followed Regulus out of the chambers that he was currently residing in.
The atmosphere in The Throne Room was thick and the tension was only building as a hushed whisper fell across the room. Lucius Malfoy gave Regulus a murderous stare as he approached the throne, James and Lily looked nervous and rightfully so. Regulus didn’t seem to notice, in fact, he walked with his head held high.
“Regulus,” James started, “when the palace guards saw that you were hurt and went to get you some help, this bag was found with your possessions and you mentioned the importance of it,” James frowned, looking weary and you wondered if this great responsibility was exhausting him yet. He held up a small satin pouch that was tied with drawstrings, “can you tell me what’s inside?”
Regulus inclined his head, “certainly, Your Majesty. They are seals of nobility of houses that associate with Lord Voldemort, the rumours are true. He wasn’t killed as a child like we were told by our parents and grandparents,” there was a gasp and again, a hushed whisper rippled through the court. Dread ran through your veins like ice, “regretfully during my time in Cumbria, I could only accumulate a couple of seals before I could get away with my life.”
James nodded as he sat down on his magnificent golden throne, his Queen at his side and he pulled open the bag, “whoever is in league with this Lord Voldemort will be imprisoned for treason and you will spend the rest of your life rotting in prison,” he cleared his throat and pulled out a piece of parchment and his eyes hardened, “Malfoy.”
Lucius Malfoy only sneered as the guards came to arrest him, “long live the King!” he shouted sarcastically as he was led away.
“Mulciber, Lestrange, Rossier, Crabbe, Goyle.”
As the King called out the names of the traitors, they were arrested one by one. Some of the men went silently, some begged for their lives, trying to appeal to James’ good nature. You shuddered as a chill ran down your spine as you held your children closer. It was an awful thing to hear someone beg for their life. It had truly been the worst day; you wished you were back in France – or Spain – beneath the warm sun without a care in the world.
James sighed as he turned to address the court and Sirius pulled you close and you kissed his cheek, he was the light in all of this darkness, “the penalty for treachery will be imprisonment, perhaps even death,” you were shocked at his words but you knew that he had to keep his Kingdom safe, “I will not be made a fool of! Thank you, Regulus for bringing this to our attention.”
“If you permit me to return to Cumbria, Your Majesty, I will be able to get you more names.”
Before James could reply, Sirius spoke up and you heard the panicked tone in his voice, “you can’t! He’ll kill you, Regulus, I-I can’t lose you!” pain and worry flashed across Sirius’ handsome face, his voice growing thick. Your heart clenched as you saw your husband in such turmoil.
Regulus bit his lip as he glanced at his worried brother and he placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, “I’ll be fine, he won’t kill me because I’m going to blame this on someone else, someone who is so evil that they deserve to die.”
Almost instantly, Sirius’ face transformed into a sneer as his soft grey eyes grew hard, “it seems like you’ve got it all figured out,” he scoffed as he shook his head as he stormed out of The Throne Room.
Regulus gazed after his brother with a pained expression as he ran a hand over his tired face, “I’ll go after him, Reg,” you wanted to help so you offered him a small smile as you passed your children to Remus, and his wife, Mary,” he didn’t mean it, he’s just scared. We all are, everything will be okay.”
Regulus grinned at you weakly as he brushed a knuckle against your cheek, “Gracias, Y/N, eres una maravilla,” you were distracted as you spoke to Regulus so you didn’t notice someone hurry after your husband.
You sighed as you made your way down the castle hallways, it was a beautiful day outside, and it was such a contrast compared to the horror that had unfolded in The Throne Room. It was then that you heard her soft voice; it was amazing how far the sound travelled.
“I’m so sorry about your brother, Sirius, you’re both so brave,” Marlene’s voice was so breathy that it made your blood boil. He was your husband.
You quickly rounded the corner and saw red, feeling sick and angry, you were so angry. Marlene had her hands placed against Sirius’ chest and she brushed her lips against Sirius’. Instantly, Sirius pushed her away with a frown, “what the hell do you think you’re doing? I love Y/N and my family more than anything, I wouldn’t jeopardise that!” his rejection filled you with relief that almost eclipsed your anger.
When Marlene scoffed, you lost your temper, “how dare you?!”
Sirius and Marlene both turned to look at you with wide eyes, as soon as Marlene saw you, a look of boredom flashed across her face, while Sirius looked devastated as his eyes filled with tears.
“Y/N,” he choked.
“I graciously gave you a job! And you betray me, going behind my back to seduce my husband!” you pointed a finger at her angrily, you felt like a crazed woman but you didn’t care, “get out of my sight, you’re dismissed! I never want to see you again!” Marlene scowled at you as she shook her head and walked away.
“Y/N,” all of your anger dissipated when you saw the tears streaming down Sirius’ cheeks and you felt tears sting at your own eyes. Marlene was exactly the kind of woman that you imagined Sirius would be with if he hadn’t had to marry you, “she kissed me, I didn’t do anything, I didn’t want her to kiss me,” his face was pleading as he reached for you. You flinched slightly from his touch and his face crumpled as he choked on his tears, “I love you.”
You nodded, hot tears streaming down your cheeks, an unbearable ache in your chest, “I love you too, I know that you pushed her away, I don’t blame you, my darling,” it was true but you just couldn’t get the image out of your head.

2 Years Later:
The pitter patter of little feet running down the hallway – the twins giggled as they chased each other – made Sirius grin. Elena and Johnathan were growing up so fast; they had the complexion and beauty of their mother, with their father’s thick hair and stormy grey eyes. Sirius grinned at his wife who looked like a Queen in golden robes and flowers in her long flowing tresses of hair. When Y/N spotted Sirius gazing at her lovingly, she lightly smacked his arm as a light melodic giggle escaped her lips.
Things had been going well between them, they had been rocky for a little while after Y/N had walked in on Marlene kissing him in that deserted hallway. Sirius was still devastated by the memory, Y/N had been heart broken and he was partly to blame. Though, they worked through their difficult feelings and were stronger than ever.
“You look so beautiful, Y/N” Sirius smiled as he reached down and laced their fingers together.
Y/N grinned up at him, her eyes sparkling and her cheeks flushed a pretty colour, “you don’t look so bad yourself,” she smirked and raised an eyebrow as her gaze flickered down to Sirius’ lips.
Sirius chuckled and cupped Y/N’s cheeks as she pulled him into a deep kiss, her tongue tracing the seam of his lips before pulling away. Sirius missed the warmth of his wife’s lips and he tried to follow her lips with his which made her giggle and she pressed a teasing kiss against his nose. The twins giggle caught Sirius’ attention again and he sighed happily, shaking his head.
“Slow down, you two!”
Johnathan whined, “Papa!” while Elena pouted as her eyes went round.
“God, that’s your trick when you don’t get what you want.”
Y/N laughed as she leaned her head on his shoulder, it was a nice warm weight and her hair smelled of citrus, “moral of the story is to give me everything I want,” she teased as they caught up with the twins.
Both Elena and Johnathan were so excited, Lily and James had invited them – along with Remus, Mary and Peter – to an intimate banquet. Sirius vaguely wondered what the occasion was. As soon as they walked into the banquet hall, Sirius heard Y/N take a sharp intake of breath and Sirius could see why. Over a dozen flickering candles filled the diamond encrusted chandelier that created a warm orange glow. The spread looked absolutely amazing, Sirius almost expected the velvet covered table to groan beneath the weight. Beautiful golden tapestries lined the walls and Sirius had to wonder if this was some sort of celebration.
Elena and Johnathan ran full force at James and Lily who laughed as they lifted them into their arms, “hello, you two,” James grinned before looking over at Sirius and Y/N, “you look great guys.”
Y/N smiled as she waved back, “thank you! So do you,” that was when Sirius noticed that Lily looked amazingly happy and there was a glow to her cheeks.
Sirius smiled as he greeted Remus, Mary and Peter, “do you three know why we’re here? And why the Hall is decorating like something out of a portrait?”
Remus shook his head as he wrapped his arms around Mary, his hand resting on her pregnant belly, “I’ve got no clue, they just asked us to be here.”
Y/N grinned and let out a wistful sigh, “I think I know why we’re here.”
There were so many courses of wonderful food, the flavours danced across Sirius’ tongue and he groaned quietly, blushing when Y/N smirked at him. Sirius expected James and Lily to tell them why they were here straight away but by the time the dessert was served he was still none the wiser. He couldn’t stand the anticipation for much longer.
“So, why are we here?” Sirius smiled as he wiped the food from Elena’s face.
James and Lily exchanged bright and happy looks, “okay, I suppose we can tell you now. We wanted our closest friends to be the first ones to find out,” James grinned as he lovingly kissed his wife on the lips.
“We’re going to have a baby!” they said in unison and for a split second there was silence before everyone began talking over one another.
“Congratulations, I’m so happy for you two!” Y/N squealed as she pulled Lily into a hug, “you are just going to be the best parents!”
Remus shook James’ hand with a teasing smile on his face, “another James running around, how will we ever survive?”
Sirius laughed as a happy feeling ballooned in his chest as he pulled his friend into a hug, James’ hazel eyes looked teary as Sirius pulled away. He knew that they had been trying for a baby for so long and they deserved to be parents, “they’re going to be so loved!” he was so incredibly happy for his best friends, it would be great for Elena and Johnathan to grow up with another child.
The mood was jovial and happy as dessert was finished off and Sirius made a toast, “I can’t quite believe that you two are going to have a baby, and we couldn’t be happier! To baby Potter!”
“To baby Potter!” everyone laughed and clinked their glasses together; the smile never left James and Lily’s faces.
Unfortunately, the happy mood couldn’t last long because when the dishes were being cleared away, The Captain of the Guard came running in. His face was worried and a pang of worry filled Sirius’ chest.
“Your Majesty! The prisoners, the traitors have escaped!” a gasp filled the room and regret filled James’ face. He had chosen not to kill the traitors so to keep their families compliant and in good faith. Lord Voldemort had been rather quiet for the past two years, in England at least, he’d been causing terror all over Europe and Sirius was worried that he was gathering more followers to knock James off his throne. Voldemort believed that he was the real heir to the throne.
Sirius bit his lip as he looked at Y/N whose eyes were filled with worry and she squeezed Sirius’ hand; he knew that she was thinking the same thing that he was. With the followers of Voldemort out of prison, what did that mean for Regulus?

Prologue - Killing Butterflies

Prologue - Killing Butterflies Pairing: (H. Potter x Black! reader)
Series Summary: (Y/n) Black - the one and only heiress to the noble house of Black - who also happens to be the daughter of the infamous Regulus Arcturus Black (and the niece of the notorious criminal Sirius Black). But despite the titles, rules and expectations that befall you, there are only two things that you long for, at which you will not cease to achieve: Firstly, to fill in the big shoes left behind by your late father. And secondly, burn the butterflies that flutter within your stomach in the presence of Harry Potter (who happens to be the sworn enemy of, perhaps, your entire family).
-> Series Masterlist and Summary -> Harry Potter Masterlist
Regulus Arcturus Black was a man who, for as long as he could remember, had never felt an emotion that had not been either sorrow, rage or the bitter sting of regret.
And even now, though he gazed toward the delicate form of his daughter, he was certain that the only emotion that was building inside of him was an overwhelming sense of deep, deep regret.
A feeling so powerful, yet one that had become somewhat of a solace to Regulus. An old friend accompanied him once more. However, what made this instance so peculiar was that this regret did not hurt or impair him – it did not itch under his skin or alight a vicious fire throughout his veins. This particular regret seemed to permeate, strangely, from beyond the confines of himself.
'When pressure builds to dangerously high levels, it will be released in one way or another.'
How puzzling. From where had that sentence emerged?
Well, for all Regulus knew, there were multiple ways in which his degree of built up pressure was being released.
For one, it could be within the tears that he bore on his pale face for the world to see, or in the way he had buried his head in his hands to tug at his curly locks of hair – or, remarkably enough, as the aloof memory that had suddenly just settled its stronghold at the forefronts of Regulus’s mind.
A weapon that stood forth in times of profuse despair and desolation, yet it was one that usually remained mute in Regulus’s lovely ballads of pain and regret.
It had been years since he had thought about this memory. Despite this, however, it was one that he’d treasured dearly.
He had been seven years old, and his brother, Sirius, had been eight, when the latter had somehow smuggled a muggle book into the house. Regulus remembered how horrified his younger self had been when Sirius had revealed the origin of the new novel. Sirius had quickly been able to calm Regulus down, wrapping his arm around Regulus's shoulder and they nestled into a dark corner in Sirius's room in 12 Grimmauld Place as Sirius read the book aloud.
It had been about volcanoes and explained the peculiar ways a volcano functioned, at least according to the muggle mind. Sirius had pointed to the sentence about that sentence pertaining to ‘built up pressure’ and made a rather crude comparison between volcanic eruptions and their mother, causing Regulus to gasp, and then to giggle and cover his mouth.
Regulus often wondered if his younger self would have guessed that reading a muggle book of all things with his older brother would later become the only memory that allowed him to conjure a patronus.
When had the pangs in his heart become so painful? So loud? He hadn’t a clue.
So, when Regulus found it within himself to straighten up and gently remove his hand from your grasp, he didn’t register it – the complete and utter sadness taking hold of his nerves and paralysing them like snake venom.
He silently pressed his lips to your forehead in a final goodbye.
Wiping his eyes, and glancing at Kreacher (who was standing in the corner of the room, his own tears streaming down his face) Regulus muttered the words "Expecto Patronum."
A blur of blue was expelled from his wand and his patronus stood dutifully in front of him. Bending down, Regulus whispered to the patronus, urgently muttering to the creature.
Kreacher, the wretched looking house-elf, gazed up at Regulus, his large, glassy eyes swollen and bloodshot.
"Kreacher." He spoke hoarsely, his throat thick. "Promise me that you will always take care of (Y/n), no matter what happens. Care for her tenfold the amount you do for me. Promise -.."
Kreacher nodded earnestly, before promptly bursting into tears again. He sobbed loudly into Regulus's robes.
Taking Kreacher's hand into his own, Regulus asked the elf to show him to the cave - the Great Cave that the Dark Lord had taken Kreacher to and from which the house elf had returned gasping and terrified, not all that long ago.
Kreacher nodded, tightening his grip on Regulus's hand. With a loud crack, both he and Regulus Disapparated from the room.
And so, 12 Grimmauld Place was left in silence.
The only sign of movement was in the wispy blue trails of a dog, as it took flight through a window.
------------------------------------>
Hello everyone!!!!! ^^
Thank you so much for picking up this series😊 I can't wait to share with you guys the story of young (Y/n) Black as she battles being the last Black, the daughter of a former death eater, the niece of a heinous criminal and her budding crush on Harry Potter Just for reference, so sorry that this chapter is incredibly short. I promise that the later chapter will be literally triple this size but yeh
To start, I'd like to set the context for you guys to make reading this book a lot less confusing haha:
The plot of this series will be following the plot of the Harry Potter books (That being said, Regulus does actually die in 1979 (a year before most of the H.P. crew is born) so to account for this, Regulus will in fact be dying a year later!! :D)
Also in this chapter I did make up and add a few things that aren't canon but are vital for the plot later on so please excuse these additions!!
This book will be written in second person
Also, this book will be a slow burn and enemies to lovers. Their romantic journey will be stretched on for quite a long time before they actually get together
Continuing on…
Your mother, due to unknown reasons, gave up full custody to Regulus and has never showed up in your life. Her blood status (and identity) is also unknown, but everyone just assumes - or hopes - that she was pure-blood.
Canonically, Walburga Black died in 1985. So basically when you are five years old. During this time, you do live in 12 Grimmauld Place, and when Walburga tragically dies, the laws of the Ministry require you to live at the Malfoy Manor.
BTW!!! I got this idea from the Demon Slayer anime where at the end of the episode they reveal "extra details" about the characters or story. I just love this idea and I'm definitely going to use it!!!
^ majority of these will be about (Y/n) and will be about one per chapter
But since it's the very first chapter of this book I'm gonna throw in a whole bunch of them!!! 😀
You look almost exactly like your mother (so essentially you don't really need/have to look like you come from the Black family) but your mannerisms and personality definitely come from Regulus.
You have greyish eyes (essentially grey streaks within your natural eye colour). This is a small detail but exists because grey eyes are ICONIC within the Black family (everyone has them!!) and as your eyes are not purely grey, it helps symbolise your alienation with your family and heritage. You are supposed to be a Black… but are you really?
You and Kreacher are pen pals and write letters to each other almost weekly.
The prologue scene is set around a month or two after you were born.
And lastly, you have a very soft spot for house elves and for the longest time, Kreacher was your best friend. Also, quite possibly, your only friend.
Taglist (thanks for asking btw (: ) - @mysouleaten
