24 : ‘frantically checking them over after a traumatic event’

W/Young!Remus Lupin

You were leant up the castle wall when they returned, the sun rising as they came into view. The four of them, two holding the taller boy up between them, along with the smallest boy carrying his things.

Yourself and Madame Pomfrey ran down to meet them, the older woman putting an enchantment on him to make levitate.

“How did it go Pads?” you asked the grey haired boy. “Honestly Love, it was a rough night,” he sighed, bags under his eyes.

“Are you all okay?” your eyes scanned the three of them. “Yeah, he turned on himself more than anything,” The glasses wearing boy stated.

Humming, you turned back to the castle and followed Madame Pomfrey to the infirmary. “All of you off to bed now,” the woman said, luckily it was a Sunday so classes weren’t an issue.

The boys were exhausted, after confirming that their friend was alright, they headed off. “Madame Pomfrey would it be alright-“ you began.

“Yes you can stay. He seems to be in better spirits whenever you do, but don’t mess. Let me fix him up.” You nodded, following the pair to the bottom bed in the long room.

Pomfrey flicked her wand making a partition appear, so prying eyes couldn’t see the boy who was covered in fresh wounds from his own hands - or paws.

Sitting quietly, you watched as Remus was cleaned up. Hearing his breathing catch when a particularly sore cut was healed. By the end of it, the boy was resting peacefully, new scars dotted here and there.

“You try and get some rest too,” Madame Pomfrey said. “You look as exhausted as he does.”

“Will he be okay?”

“Yes, he always is. I’ll ask for the next batch of wolfsbane to be stronger, just to make sure he’s not so wolf like.”

“Thank you.”

The woman nodded, giving you a tight lipped smile and heading off. Your eyes felt heavy as you watched Remus’ chest rise and fall, finally allowing them to close.

“Sweetheart,” a voice whispered, making your eyes flutter open. “Rem, you’re awake.”

Perching on the bed gently, you stroked his face with your hand, looking over him.

“Are you okay? How are you feeling?”

He gave you a half smile with his popped lip, “Rough night, but I feel fantastic now I’ve seen you.”

“Such a sweet talker.”

“Lay with me.”

“Rem I’ll hurt you.”

“No you won’t, cuddles are the best medicine, Pomfrey told me. Now get here and make me feel better.”

“It’s a good thing you’re injured, you bossy boy.”

“Oh you love it when I boss you around,” he smirked.

“Remus John!”

“Hush my love,” you carefully placed your head on his chest, wrapping an arm over his tummy. The bed was small, but cosy.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, I’m so glad you’re okay.”

“I always am when you’re around.”

Continued from Wilderness.

Sirius's eyes already had more light and energy after an hour running around as Padfoot, chasing birds and squirrels. Remus felt something unclench deep inside that he didn’t realize was clenched as he watched Sirius whistle and prepare food to cook for their dinner. 

He hadn’t really thought about it but Sirius wasn’t even cooking that much since they’d arrived at Grimmauld Place, allowing Molly to take over the kitchen. But he knew Sirius loved cooking, and he made a mental note to let Molly know she should make room for Sirius in what was essentially his own kitchen, even if he’d rarely prepared food there. 

“I let Tonks know we were leaving, and she said she’d send a Patronus if anyone was looking for us.” Remus said, sliding his arms around Sirius’s waist and resting his chin on his shoulder.

“She won’t tell, will she?”

“Nah. She’s an alright sort.”

“Can you slice these lemons?” Sirius asked, passing Remus the fruit. Remus let go of Sirius and directed his wand at the lemons, which filled the kitchen in the tent with a fresh, citrusy scent. 

“What are you making?” Remus asked. He’d packed the food, but he’d noticed Sirius transfigured some of the ingredients. 

“You’ll see.” Sirius said, with a mischievous smile. Remus was so happy to see that smile.

Remus set the table, and they sat down to eat. “This looks delicious.” Remus said.

Not really a head cannon but I recommend this for a recovering from angst if you like true crime or crime shows/films.

Get a giant thick mug fill it with your favorite kind of tea and watch crime while wrapped in blankets in the dark, it is the best thing I experienced while drinking tea.
