Kageyama Being Oblivious to Other People’s Relationships

I have this huge feeling that Kageyama does not keep up with other people's lives. Like if they're not in his immediate circle, he won't even. So this is my take on him finding out about Bokuaka through Y/N.

Also Time Skip Spoilers!!

Ever since Kageyama joined the Shweiden Adlers, your shared apartment has been annoyingly quiet without him to bother. It wasn't something that was freaking you out, you were happy that he's upping his career. You remain his number one fan.

That doesn't mean you don't get lonely every now and then while he's off at practice.

So naturally, you try to bother some of your old high school friends. But they were put living their own successful lives too! Bokuto with his own team, Kuroo with some smarty stuff, and Kenma becoming a streamer and businessman. Until finally! Akaashi agrees to go out for lunch.

Keiji looked better with age. Hell, he looked happier. At lunch, you both found out that you were in the same boat: busy volleyball boyfriends and lonely feelings. You felt some relief knowing that someone else had those same feelings. The slight guilt of feeling lonely and the slight frustration of not having the person you love there, but also that pride of knowing they're out doing something they love.

Then you had to ask who asked who out first.

Akaashi blushed at the question and was shy at first, but the more he got into the story- the memory- you could see how happy and in love he was with a knucklehead like Bokuto. They had remained close friends after Bo left for college, and Akaashi would go to his games every now and then. He confessed that he started having feelings for Bokuto during this time, but didn't act on it in fear of losing him. But Bo blurted it out after he made Akaashi laugh while they ate at a restaurant after one of his games.

You fell in love with their love. You always knew Bokuto had a soft spot for Akaashi, even in high school. But you never thought he'd be the first one to admit to his feelings. Though it makes sense that he blurted it out. A simpleton really, if he feels it then he says it.

As the days went by, you would get a bit more excited when it neared to your schedule lunch date with Akaashi. It was nice to talk about other stuff other than volleyball. You loved the sport of course, but your life wasn’t centered around it like Kageyama had. And Akaashi understood that and had stories that didn’t involve the sport. It was a breath of fresh air.

When you heard that they’d be joining the Japanese Olympic team, you couldn’t help but feel even more excited. This would mean you get to spend more time with Akaashi and even bother Kuroo, who was the promoter, at the same time. It’d be a reunion!

During their practice, you’d go with Tobio and then dismiss yourself in rush to catch up with Akaashi as he wished Bo good luck. You were smiling more and thinking less of how lonely you felt because you had best of both worlds.

After coming home from practice, Kageyama took a quick shower while you settled by the window to read a book. When he walked out of the restroom, he stared at you.

Kageyama noticed your shift. As much as he loved seeing your smile, something bothered him. You no longer sent messages throughout the day as he practiced, usually you send funny videos so he can watch during one of his breaks. You no longer tackled him in a hug whenever he came home, even if he was all sweaty.

He felt guilty loving those habits, he knew you only did that because you missed him. He hated leaving you alone when practice started to get more serious. You always had a sad smile when he would wave goodbye. But now-

He remembered Akaashi instantly when you brought him up. He used to look up to him as a setter in high school. He was friends with you way before you took an interest in Kageyama. But... was it possible that you had a crush on him? Did meeting up with him again spark up some old feelings?

Were you finally slipping through his fingers? Was he losing you because of his obsession with volleyball? You reassure him every now and then that it’s not something you’re scared of. You’d kiss him and explain how you understand that volleyball is untouchable and how loving you has nothing to do with it.

He can’t let you slip... it’ll hurt. More than any physical injury. He wanted you to know that you’re untouchable too, that he can’t live with just having volleyball. He needed you too. But... if you wanted to leave... to be with someone who is always there...

“You’re sulking, Tobio.” You point out without looking up from your book. He stayed by the doorway and turned his face away. He had been staring at you for quite some time now, it was like he was trying to get your attention without asking for it.

“I am not,” he huffed and pouted.

“Sure you are,” you said eyeing him, “what’s wrong?”

He stayed quiet for a bit with his arms crossed over his chest. You smiled softly at his bothered state. It wasn’t often that he acted this way, all grumpy and quiet, but when he does you cant help but love every second of it. You learned to give him some time to respond or to find the right words to say. And he was still just wearing a towel over his waist with slight water droplets sliding off-

“You’ve been spending a lot of time with Akaashi-kun.” Your eyes snapped back to the back of his head when he mumbled.

“Um, yeah I have...” you answered back a bit confused. You didn’t want to assume the direction of this conversation.

“It wasn’t a question,” he grumbled again. You lowered your book and gave him your full attention.

“Well, it’s easy now-” he scoffed but you continued, “-with Bo being here and all.”

“Koutarou still talks to him?”

You walked up to him and looked for any sign of ingenuity but found none. “Tobio, they live together.”

“They’re roommates?” He asked even more confused and bothered. Why were you talking about their living arrangements?

“They live together just like how we live together, Tobio.” You said it with caution and softness but you had a smile that wanted to release your laughter. That’ll just anger him and distract him from the slow connection he’s making.

You instantly saw it in his eyes when he made that last connection, “Oh...” You kissed his slightly open lips to tease him and walked away.

“Tobio, you play with Bokuto!” you call out.

“I don’t listen to their yapping!” You suddenly remember something from last week.

“We’re invited to their wedding!”

“What!” he exclaimed, “since when!?”

“Last week, Bo gave us their date and to look out for an invitation through the mail!”

He was more focused on how you were distancing yourself. He was focused on you, not his teammate’s rambling.

“I didn’t know it was Akaashi he was marrying!” You laughed at his outbursts even more as he looked guilty. You didn’t want to bring up how he thought you were having an affair so maybe walking into the kitchen was your best chance. How could he be so oblivious and yet so observant over your slight change?

“Tobio,” you called out softly. He was sulking again but looked up at the command of your voice. He followed you and towered you as he looked down. He was beautiful. It warmed your heart. You touched his cheek and he rested right into your hand.

Before you could make a comment he spoke quietly, “I’m not losing you, am I?” On instinct, your arms snaked around his neck pulling him down to hug you. You were never one to need reassurance, at least that’s what you liked to think.

“I am yours, Tobio.” You answered, “I’ll always be yours.”

“And I’m yours.” He hugged you back and lifted you up a bit trying to get closer as if it was possible. You were here and he was here... And Bokuto was marrying Akaashi. “Should I text Bokuto congratulations?”

My Anime 9/10′s

With probably no spoilers cuz I don’t wanna talk too long about them zzz.

1. Fullmetal Alchemist

YALL ALREADY KNOW THIS A 9/10. The only real reason this show is not a 10/10 is because it’s just a story that I’d never rewatch. There’s like 70 episodes, which is way too long for my short attention span, especially since I’ve seen it already. But yeah, by all accounts, this story is a masterpiece and is one of the only “shounen” anime’s that I genuinely enjoyed. No random sexualization. No dumb filler. All the characters have an actual purpose and role in the plot and everyone has their own morals and ideals that interact to make the story interesting. I couldn’t bring myself to really hate anyone, even the villains, because everyone was pretty well written. Also super satisfying ending that ties up everything properly without leaving me confused or upset. If you only watch a few anime in your life, Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty much a MUST WATCH to see a beautiful example of a modern classic anime as an artform. Also I should say that I really don’t like Hunter x Hunter (AN EXTREMELY CONTROVERSIAL OPINION BTW) but I love Fullmetal Alchemist so take from that what you will.

2. Parasyte: The Maxim

Same kinda shit where you already know this a 9/10 for me. It’s just a very satisfying anime that doesn’t have random sexualization or random filler or anything like that. Ending is also very good and ties up the story in a way that doesn’t leave more questions but also allows the characters to have a “life” outside of the scope of the story. I think Parasyte, because of its more horror and psychological-esque vibes, counts as a seinen and not a shounen, so for more mature audiences. I also really liked how the story was successfully adapted to modern times since the manga is from the 80′s. I have actually rewatched this anime, but what stops me from giving it a 10/10 is a few things that I found kinda “stereotypical” that I don’t wanna discuss further too much cuz it’s spoilers. I still obviously really like this anime and highly recommend it.

3. Zankyou no Terror

TBH, this anime is pretty hard for me to properly describe in a lot of words as to why I like it. The art was really pretty as well as the music, which was just straight up amazing. The cinematography of this anime is excellent as well, and a lot of scenes have that sense of being acted out by real people, as opposed to feeling completely drawn/animated. I was a teenager when this anime came out and I think a lot of the themes presented in the show really related to me. The show does kinda have some leftover questions when it ends that prevents me from rating it a 10/10, but I have such a soft spot for this anime. It’s from the same creator as Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, and although those two animes are also very good, they did not impact me as much as this anime did. Recommended for people looking for idk something that gives off Inception vibes?? In the sense that it’s much more about its themes and its message more so than the believability of the events that occur.

4. Magic Kaito 1412

THIS IS JUST A PERSONAL PREFERENCE BTW LOLOL I DON’T KNOW ANYBODY WHO’D PUT THIS AS A 9/10 ANIME. I JUST REALLY LIKED IT OKAY. It’s made by the same person who does Detective Conan but I like this a lot more because it’s a much shorter series and slightly more mature (more for teens than just straight up kids). I really liked the main guy, I think he’s funny and charismatic. He’s a pervert at times but Imma forgive that cuz of the 90′s. Idk it’s just a really fun anime that I don’t have to take seriously and can just watch and enjoy.

5. Mob Psycho 100 (season 1 AND 2)

Imma put season two as slightly better than season one. So season one would be like a 9 and season two is like a 9.25 for me. Super super funny anime and I like it SO much more than One Punch Man. I liked that there was a good balance of serious moments, but you can definitely still count this anime as a comedy. I’m typically not the type to watch “comedy” but this anime genuinely had me laughing out loud, while also crying and freaking out right alongside the main character. The main guy is super great because he’s just this shy and sweet middle schooler, and it’s really interesting watching him balance trynna have a normal life while also using his powers for good and such. Apparently the anime was decently faithful to the manga and there’s apparently enough material for a third season so I’d be pretty stoked for a season 3, but season 2 ended on a pretty good spot and was satisfying. TBH, if I had the time, I’d probably rewatch both seasons and bump it up to a 10/10.

6. Vinland Saga

This anime is just the first season of what I hopes to be a whole series that will be stay beautifully and faithfully adapted from the manga. As someone who read very far into the manga (but quit like years ago simply because I hate slow updates lol), I actually didn’t enjoy watching the anime at first. I was impatient and kept waiting for when like the “major” events would happen. So I watched like three episodes and quit. But when I had some free time, I decided to get stuck in and commit to watching the whole series and I was so pleasantly surprised with just how good it was. I was impatient but I needed to realize that there is no “filler” or like “wasted time” in the entire anime. I hadn’t read the manga in years, so so many things were only vaguely familiar but I think this helped me stay surprised and excited throughout the anime. I’m looking forward to the rest of the manga being adapted because it’s just a good Viking saga lolol. Major themes of stuff like growing up, violence vs. peace, what it means to be a good person, etc. Lots of blood and LOTS of violence like a LOT they are VIKINGS CMON but tbh not really any gore which I liked cuz gore makes me ughhhh. A very good watch and only a taste of an excellent story.

7. Demon Slayer

It’s just Demon Slayer duhhh. Of course this a 9/10 for me. I don’t wanna write much just cuz the show is so popular. Just read a REAL review of this anime somewhere else lmaoooo. Also yes I did watch the movie in theaters and yes I liked it a lot as well mmkay. I’m mad hype for season two. My S/O doesn’t like Demon Slayer as much as me, but also has Hunter x Hunter as their all time favorite anime. Do with that information what you will lolol.

8. Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2

Same shit as Demon Slayer. Just go read someone else’s review about why it’s so good lol. Also, unlike Mob Psycho 100, I can’t include all of the seasons in this, because I have very various opinions about how good/bad the other seasons were. But this season 3 part 2, was just plain and simply amazing. While I might not like each season equally, as a whole Attack on Titan is also a modern masterpiece of storytelling. Read the manga if you can.

9. Great Pretender

I love this anime so much. Such a good and fun wild ride. The whole show is ridiculous but in a fun way. I’m a HUGE fan of heist films, so of course I absolutely enjoyed a heist anime. I’ve watched this show in sub AND dub, due to the fact that everyone is “technically” speaking English the entire time. If you’re a purist, just watch in sub OR dub cuz I did get confused here and there, especially when I would go back to compare language discrepancies. Because basically I did this super high maintenance thing where I switched back to Japanese whenever the main character had flashbacks, since he’s ya know, Japanese. The dub also has this confusing thing where the first five minutes or so are still in Japanese, but switches to English when a little cue card on the screen goes “For the Viewers sake, everything from now on will be translated to Japanese.” It’s cuz in the sub, the inverse obviously happens where the characters are initially speaking broken English to each other, but for convenience sake, everything from that point on will be in Japanese. It’s confusing at first but I liked it cuz it just proved the whole international vibe of the show. It’s funny either sub or dub when they joke about how bad the main guy speaks English, cuz in the dub he’s speaking perfect English, while the sub has him not speaking English at all. But anyway, great anime that WOULD have gotten a 10/10 if not for the last episode. Like without spoiling ... WTF WAS THAT LMAOOOO. The anime as a whole is super wacky and zany but at least I could try to think it’s real life, but that last episode was just so unbelievable and bizarre and pulled my suspension of disbelief into the STRATOSPHERE that I just had to convince myself that this show takes place in some improbable alternate reality where something like what happened in the last episode is at least 5 percent possible CUZ HOW DID ANY OF THAT WORK LMAOOO??? Once again, great show, one of my absolute favorites, BUT THAT ENDING THOUGH WTF.

10. BNA

Good super underrated anime that I don’t hear people talk about at all. If Beastars is anime Zootopia, then BNA is Disney Beastars lmaooo does that make sense? It’s a lot more fun and zany than Beastars and I liked it way more. Made by the same people who made Kill la Kill. I really like that more classic, animated “cheap” art style that the anime has, and I also really liked the plot of the story. Not a 10/10 cuz the show does leave a few unanswered questions at the end of it, but this show was such a fun and interesting ride. When I finished the last episode, I was left with a big smile on my face because I just genuinely enjoyed this anime. Recommended if you wanna watch something a little unique and more on the silly and wack side. Talks about some serious stuff, but luckily the show never takes itself TOO seriously, and remains overall lighthearted for a fun action/sci-fi show.

Some of my own Danganronpa non-despair AU headcanons/imagines this time! (THH edition)

I was inspired, so I decided why not write down some headcanons/imagines/character adjustments for my Danganronpa non-despair AU! I’m gonna be doing this as a series, starting with the THH characters, then the SDR2 characters, then the V3 characters (although I will mention characters from other games in my headcanons). Enjoy!

Makoto Naegi | 苗木誠

He’d definitely lend a listening ear to whoever wanted to vent to him.

When he first comes to Hope’s Peak, he’s such a fanboy over everyone

He has an inferiority complex and self worth issues because he’s surrounded by insanely talented students, but Sayaka and Kyoko quickly help him get over that

He’s pretty good at keyboard, and plays alongside Sayaka a lot

He actually got noticed by Kaede, who offered to teach him, which obviously he was ecstatic about

He’s the only one in Class 78th, and possibly all of Hope’s Peak, who is neurotypical

Sayaka Maizono | 舞園さやか

Her and Makoto are basically best friends

She’s still a total cinnamon roll, but she loves to play little pranks on the rest of Class 78th and have a good laugh over it

She, Ibuki, Leon and Kaede tried to form a music group together but they fell apart really quickly due to their different styles

She has a huge crush on Makoto, but she’s afraid to admit it

Leon Kuwata | 桑田怜恩

He’s almost always the only one in class, just so he can avoid playing baseball

Ibuki taught him guitar and he’s been playing nonstop ever since

He *tries* to get along with Sayaka, but prefers hanging out with Ibuki since they almost always end up playing together

Everyone in Class 78 calls him the Ultimate Guitarist because... reasons

Toko Fukawa | 腐川冬子

She doesn’t have the weird thing for Byakuya in this au

She doesn’t slut shame the girls either

She’s still really shy tho

She initially dislikes Hifumi for writing fanfic, but they eventually bond over their mutual love for writing

She’s also close with Tsumugi, and the two of them collaborated to write a book that was loosely based on Tsumugi’s favorite anime

Genocider Syo is friends with Sonia, but she’s a bit put off by Sonia’s obsession with her and other serial killers

Kiyotaka Ishimaru | 石丸清多夏

Initially, the rest of the class shys away from him because he has a stick up his ass about the rules, but Mondo and Chihiro quickly befriend him

After a while, he loosens up a bit, but he never stops being the Ultimate Moral Compass

He tries to bond with the class by telling jokes, but he’s always super awkward with it and is usually unsuccessful

He’s SUPER gullible — he’ll believe anything anyone tells him, and you better believe Class 78 uses that to their advantage

Once, he dyed his hair white on a dare, and ended up liking it and kept it that way

He also tries to do impressions of his classmates (mostly Mondo) but, again, is painfully bad at it

Everyone actually finds these funny tho

Mondo Oowada | 大和田紋土

He, surprisingly, likes to play card games, which everyone was shocked to find out

Except Celeste, who is fascinated by his interest

He’s very protective of his friends, and will do anything for them

Especially Taka and Chihiro, his two best friends

He’s an amazing hairstylist, and secretly loves to play with and style people’s hair

Everyone in all of Hope’s peak knows to go to him for hair care tips and tricks

He also taught Chihiro how to ride a motorcycle the two of them rode around together a lot, until Taka ratted them out

He still hasn’t forgiven Taka for that

Chihiro Fujisaki | 不二咲千尋

In this au, he’s a bit more open about his gender, but still has loads of insecurities

At first, he’s completely in the closet, but after rumors spread online about him being a boy, he decides to live as himself and goes to Mondo for help

Mondo became his first real friend to him because of this, and him (and eventually Sakura too) helped him become strong

Eventually, he became an honorary member of Mondo’s gang and would often hang out with them in his free time

His hidden talent is being a voice actor, but he’s super embarrassed to talk about it since he’s the Ultimate Programmer

His first voice role was in a video game he developed himself, which led some talent scouts to notice him

He eventually voiced in several anime and video games, some of which he also helped develop

He’s almost as passionate about acting as he is about programming, but the only people he feels comfortable talking about it to are Hifumi and Tsumugi, who both become huge fans of his, and Mondo and Taka

When he found out Junko had created Monokuma, he was fascinated and offered to help her with ironing out all his kinks

He, Chiaki, Mukuro and Miu also created the Exisals in this au, for the sole reason of fooling around

Although, Chihiro himself was a bit intimidated by his creation at first, but after Tsumugi and Junko pressured him to try one out for himself, he fell in love

Yasuhiro Hagakure | 葉隠康比呂

He’s less of a dumbass in this AU, although he still has a tendency to get himself in sticky situations

Celeste and Hifumi played a prank on him by getting him to dress up in the Robo Justice suit and go around scaring people, but it backfired after Hiro fell down the stairs and broke his leg

Being the only one in the class who can, he often buys wine for Celeste and Mondo (and whoever asks, but only those two ever do)

He and Mondo use the same hair gel, so sometimes he’d take Mondo’s without knowing, which would lead to some awkward misunderstandings

Interestingly, he once predicted the world would end and they’d all end up dead, but that never ended up happening

That’s where the “30% accurate” thing came from— before that he was almost always right

He constantly makes jokes about being an old man (even though he’s only in his early twenties)

Hifumi Yamada | 山田一二三

He’s no longer solely attracted to anime characters, but he still loves them very much

He’s also nicer in this au

He’s besties with Tsumugi, and they bond over their love of anime and fiction

He’s also a huge fan of Chihiro’s, after he found out Chihiro was on the development team for his favorite game AND voiced two of his favorite anime characters

Low key has a crush on Celeste

Angie constantly makes jokes about how his first name is just “one two three” in Japanese

Whenever he’s watching an anime Chihiro was in, he’ll hound him with questions about what it was like recording, which Chihiro doesn’t mind because he doesn’t get to talk about his voice work a lot

Someday he wants to write and direct his own anime, and Tsumugi and Toko give him a lot of writing tips

He formed a LARP group with Gundham, Tsumugi, Chihiro, Junko, and Kaito

Celestia Ludenberg

She doesn’t treat Hifumi like a servant in this AU, but she’s still mean af and has a superiority complex

She eventually revealed her true identity to the class after she got inspired by Chihiro, but it didn’t change anything with her classmates

Except Hiro, who constantly made jokes about them having the same name, much to Celeste’s annoyance

She occasionally brings Grand Bois Chéri Ludenberg to school with her, but she doesn’t let anyone except Hifumi, Sonia and Gundham pet him

She high-key has a crush on Sonia

She doesn’t actually know how to do her own hair, so she has to get Mondo to do it for her

Sakura Oogami | 大神さくら

She and Tenko become friends SO QUICKLY because of their shared passion for martial arts

She’s still friends with Aoi tho

The three of them hang out together a lot

She and Tenko developed a new form of martial arts combining Neo-Aikido and Sakura’s own style, which they named the Oogami Method

Junko bullied her because of her ripped uniform, but after she explained that nothing would fit her, Junko offered to have one made for her

Kyoko Kirigiri | 霧切響子

She and Shuichi are very close, obviously

She gives Shuichi a lot of pointers on improving his investigative skills, and they work together often to solve cases

She and Makoto still become close, but their friendship is overshadowed by her and Shuichi’s

She notices this after a while, and makes a concerted effort to spend more time with Makoto

She’s less distant in this AU, but she still tries not to show her emotions

Her hair is naturally black in this AU, she dyed it purple after she lost a bet (with Celeste)

Aoi Asahina | 朝日奈葵

In this AU, she doesn’t just love donuts, but she loves all sweets

She was a fan of Junko’s before coming to Hope’s Peak, and the two of them became friends quickly

She and Akane are also close, and everyone jokes that they’re sisters, though in reality they aren’t

She once got recruited by Kaito to be in a play his class was putting on, but she’s such a terrible actor that they gave her part to Junko

She once walked in on Junko and Mukuro testing out Monokuma for the first time, and they were super freaked out, but Aoi was fascinated and wanted to try controlling him

Mukuro was against it, but Junko was cool with it, so she got to in the end

Byakuya Togami | 十神白夜

He and Makoto are both obsessed with true crime, and the two of them actually become friends because of that

They both love digging into Hope’s Peak’s files and his family’s files to find mysteries they could try and solve

Sonia joins them a lot too

He unofficially became the class’s French teacher after they found out he was fluent

He’s nicer in this au, and he’s kind of the dad of the class

When the Imposter was impersonating him, the two of them got into a little mini-war over who was the superior Togami (Twogami surprisingly won that war, albeit barely)

Mukuro Ikusaba | 戦刃むくろ

She’s away from Hope’s Peak A LOT, usually doing soldier things

When she is at Hope’s Peak, she spends most of her time either developing new weapons or looking after Junko

She’s usually the one who has to clean up after Junko’s shenanigans, even though she partakes in them herself

She helps Junko with a lot of her projects, but usually she ends up working on her own things while Junko does her thing

Despite this, she loves working with her sister when she gets the chance

Her proudest achievement is the Exisals, even though she collaborated with Chihiro, Chiaki and Miu to create them

Junko Enoshima | 江ノ島盾子

While she’s obviously not Ultimate Despair in this au, she’s still very chaotic and loves causing shenanigans and playing (mostly) harmless pranks

She’s friends with Sayaka and Kokichi because of this (both she and Sayaka are members of D.I.C.E. too)

She still puts on different personas, but she does it as a joke

She’s actually a very good actress, and she loves to act, but just like Chihiro, that gets overshadowed by her Ultimate talent

She loves to build and create things, just like her sister, which is why she created Monokuma

She uses Monokuma for her pranks a lot

Sometimes she goes through severe depressive episodes where she doesn’t have the energy to leave her home, but she usually uses Monokuma as a sort of telepresence unit so she can still talk to her friends

At first, no one knew that Monokuma was her, but Aoi ended up spilling the beans

She also learned animation from Ryota, and wants to make an anime starring her, Kaito, Tsumugi, Chihiro, Mukuro and Hajime

She loves to share her projects with her friends, and often lets other people control Monokuma or model for her

She gets hurt a LOT, and usually Mikan has to care for her

Her proudest achievement is replacing the Exisals’ weapons with water guns (even though Mukuro did most of the work)

They actually decided to leave them like that afterwards, since the Exisals were only ever used by her friends to mess around in

She suffers from PTSD, and part of that is recurring nightmares that the world ended and all her friends were forced to kill each other

+it's not a negative thing or anything as I'm the first one who likes to write for that type of trope but,, variety is very much needed every once in a while

21. “Oh my gaud, I think the crystal ball is working. The spirits are telling me you’re a dumbass.”

26. “I dare you to go down there.”

Isaac had no idea why he ever thought this could have been a good idea in the first place. Sitting by a candlelit round table, Dazai, Arthur, you and your lover were staring at a crystal ball placed in the middle of the wooden surface, hands ceremoniously joined together to form a circle.

The room was growing colder by the minute, as the local paranormal enthusiast decided that a fire would scare the spirits away. Despite the polar temperatures, you managed to keep your hand warm enough to try and offer some kind of support to your partner, Isaac, whose left hand was as cold as ice and even slightly trembling, though you kept any type of comment to yourself as you knew he wouldn't be pleased to have a third bully team up against him.

Unfortunately for both of you, the two writers' analyzing eyes were vigilant even in the darkness of the room, and they simultaneously decided to poke fun at the scientist as they waited for something to happen.

"Ai-chan, are you scared?" The Japanese teasingly inquired. "C'mon old Newt! Shouldn't you believe in numbers and science a little bit more? I'm sure your gravitational equation will come to save you if a ghost tries strangling you!~" The other man said, obviously aware of the hypocrisy of his statement. "Would you look at that..! You're shaking like a leaf and your expression is quite the amusing one..." Arthur added, slightly leaning forward to get a better look at his face. "C'mon, stop bullying him, you two." You whispered with a scolding tone.

You didn't exactly believe in these things, and yet the slight creepiness of the whole atmosphere couldn't quite let your heart remain completely unmoved. Just as you turned your eyes back on the transparent sphere, Arthur straightened like a board and with utmost earnestness exclaimed:"I can feel a presence... Dear Lord, look behind you Isaac!!"

"W-WHAT IS IT-?!" The fragile man half screamed, throwing himself to your side and squeezing your arm tightly, as if scared a supernatural entity would grab him from behind and drag him to Hell. The moment the exclamation left your lover's lips your eyes flew to the back of the room, noting with your own two pupils that there was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary there.

"Haa... you really are an impossible one Arthur." You said with a sigh while pinching the bridge of your nose. "I'm utterly serious when it comes to these things!" Said the English man with a slight pout marking his features. Then, an idea came to your mind.

The blue haired flirt always found an excuse to either tease you or your man, and a payback was the least you could do.

"Wait! Look at the sphere- no way... that's impossible..." You mumbled with an incredulous tone, making the best shocked expression you could manage. Three other pair of eyes moved to the crystal ball, focusing with all their might to try and see what you were talking about. "Do you see something??" Arthur's voice came out in a whisper, hushed and grave.

"Oh my gaud, I think the crystal ball is working. The spirits are telling me you’re a dumbass!"

"O-of course you didn't see anything- ghosts don't exist anyways..." Isaac whispered to himself, finally letting go of your arm and huffing in relief.

"MC!!! Take this seriously!!" Seeing the playboy so offended pleased you, and you responded with a hearty laugh. "Yeah well, I'm not really the biggest believer of these type of things. I'm still shocked the author of Sherlock Holmes is a fan of the occult, though!"

"Don't you dare mention that piece of trash in front of me!" Ah, there was his weakness. Whenever someone mentioned the detective, he'd lose his temper in the blink of an eye, becoming vulnerable to every type of teasing remark thrown his way. This was a tactic you had started using quite often whenever you wanted to help Isaac with all the mocking gibberish thrown his way.

"Now, now, let us not fight!" Dazai cut off your thoughts with his signature smile. "If we make too much noise, the oni might hear us and come our way"

"A what? ...can't you guys just stop with all the demon talk?" Isaac complained. "They clearly don't exist." He concluded.

"And even if they found us, would they stand a chance against three vampires? You should be scared of yourselves, not some stinky heap of darkness and evil. You can probably snap their necks like a twig with your superhuman strength." You added, looking at the two people sitting in front of you with narrowed eyes.

"Your words bring me an unimaginable amount of disapproval, MC" Did Arthur always need to have the last word on everything? "So do you." You remarked, finally standing up to make your way to the door, clearly done with the conversation.

Barely seconds after you stepped out in the hallway, you heard the sound of a chair sliding against the floor, followed by the familiar sound of shoes you had learnt to recognize anywhere.

"There's no way I'm staying in that room with those two tortures." Isaac scoffed. "I-I'd rather spend my time with you." His tone was shy, but when reaching for your hand, his touch was bold and yet gentle. At this display of cuteness, you couldn't help but softly press a kiss to his cheek before squeezing his hand in yours. "Shall we head back to your room then?" And as your question was answered with a nod, you two started walking down the dark hallway, hand in hand.

Newton's room was quite far from the small lounge you had borrowed for your spooky night, and minutes passed as a comfortable silence hung between the two of you, steps muffled by the red carpet of the hallway filling resonating softly in the empty corridor.

Letting your mind wander freely during the small walk, you went over the events of the day and the evening in particular. The firm words of scepticism you had thrown at Arthur's way suddenly tumbled on you all at once.

What if... what if something were to happen now? Wouldn't it be funny? How ironic would it be! It was a thought that made your heart race; the possibility of witnessing something uncommon, out of this world and probably life-threatening was something that had always attracted the human heart, and you certainly weren't an exception despite your earlier contradicting statement. Sure, you weighed rationalism way more than matters from the supernatural sphere, and yet you had already been proved wrong once when you arrived to the mansion. So maybe nothing was impossible, right..?

You unconsciously slowed your pace, as if wanting to increase the chances of seeing some kind of paranormal activity, and fortunately enough your twisted prayers were met in the strangest of ways.

Passing by the access to the staircase that took downstairs to the cellar, you heard the most curious of sounds. It wasn't perfectly audible from your position, but you could make out incoherent mumbling and sounds that were human but not quite. Seeing how you had stopped walking, Isaac called out to you. "MC..?" After a few seconds of unresponsiveness, you turned to him, curiosity and a hint of mischief in your excited orbs. "Isaac, I dare you to go down there.” His eyes widened in surprise, and before he knew what what happening, you were pushing his back down the steps, adding in a reassuring whisper:"Don't worry. I'm right behind you." But the way you gripped his shoulder didn't go unnoticed, and it reminded him of when he had done the same thing to you minutes prior. Perhaps, those words of encouragement served to placate your quivering spirits, now slaves to your immense curiosity. The scientist certainly couldn't blame you when it came to that, so he gulped down his fear and, in an spur of bold courage, made his way down the dark, old staircase.

What was driving him was possibly either the wish to appear a bit cooler in your eyes or his innate spirit of in inquiry, maybe both. Meanwhile the weird murmurs and rustles got stronger as you approached the end of the stairs, and with a heart thundering wildly in both of your chests, you peeked into the cold basement. What you saw was...

"What in God's name aRE YOU DOING HERE?!"

Theo, slumped against the floor next to Vincent and a pool of...liquids. The angel was whispering words in his brother's ear while drawing soothing circles with his hand on the man's back. Just as you and your lover stepped into the room a pair of blue eyes flew to your figures in a surprised manner, and the blonde's soft voice found its way to your ears.

"Can you guys... help me out?" He said, slipping his arm under Theo's armpit to try and raise him up while offering you an apologetic smile. "We went to the pub to celebrate my newest painting but I'm afraid he exaggerated a bit... He... Theo is so drunk he fell down the stairs"

At this phrase you burst out laughing and Isaac stifled a giggle at the idea of the gruff man tumbling down like a sack of potatoes, then nodded and moved to help the eldest Van Gogh. The moment your lover got next to to the now half standing drunk vampire, Theo emitted a guttural noise and painted his usual grey vest in a terrifying yellow-ish color that would've looked breathtaking on Vincent's canvas. If it hadn't been... vomit, that is.

As you saw the pink haired vampire stiffen up in disgust, you started laughing even harder, calming down ever so slightly once you remembered how horrible your loudness must feel to someone so hungover. After recovering some much needed air, you went to help the two porters who were struggling to open the door as Theo's wobbly legs threatened to make them all fly down the steps, a smile on your face.

The whole situation took a turn you certainly had never expected, but it satisfied you nonetheless. In such a big house, no moment was to be left to boredom, and you had learned to appreciate and love all these grownup babies so it now felt completely natural to spend a night like this. (One of them had captured your whole heart in particular)

...though you figured someone wasn't going to be equally happy with all the cleaning the next day.

Jaewoo’s Relationship With Twice

Friendly reminder, requests are always open for Jaewoo but his posts aren’t on a schedule, and aren’t canon to the rest of my AUS

Jihyo

The two of them had been friends during training, as they were the same age, and once they got over the initial shock of actually debuting together, they were both really excited about it. Jaewoo has always been Jihyo’s number one supporter, even though he isn’t very vocal about it. She considers him to be a very calm, steady presence and knows that he always has her back. The two of them certainly have lots of inside jokes and can be very silly if it’s a private setting, but in official promotions Jihyo never hesitates to share responsibility with him. This is true for most of the members, but the only thing he ever really teases her about is her height, which annoys her to no end.

Nayeon

She definitely considers herself to be his older sister, and isn’t shy about nagging him if there’s a reason for it, which there rarely is. They love to post vocal covers together, and Jaewoo always relies heavily on her when he’s practicing his singing. He sticks by her side no matter what, and when she was going through difficulties he was always right next to her at airports and making sure she never had to go anywhere alone. At one point she described her idea type (see in Kprofiles), and everyone giggled when they realized she was describing Jaewoo. It’s obviously completely platonic, but they are suited to each other as perfect friends.

Jeongyeon These two hit it off on day one, and she loved having him in the group. No one, including himself, considers him to be very funny, but Jeongyeon always laughs at his jokes and thinks he’s hilarious. The two of them go out for meals all of the time, and it often turns into a competition of who can eat the most. Despite their goofiness, Jaewoo loves how hard she works and is always the first to offer to help her clean up the apartment. The amount of meme compilations composed of just these two is outrageous, which is especially funny when you consider that Jeongyeon is the only member of Twice that really brings out Jaewoo’s goofy side.

Momo Jaewoo was upset when anyone was eliminated on Sixteen, but him and Momo really bonded over dancing and he was devastated to lose her. When they ended up debuting together, he was probably the most excited, after Japanese line. They often post cover videos together, and while he often gets heat for being a male dancer that does girl group style dances, Momo is always very quick to speak up and praise his dancing ability. He is 100% supportive of her in every single way, and has supported her through everything, making sure she knows how much he supports her decisions, and never being afraid to led fans know that he supports her.

Sana She was very shy with him when they first found out they debuted together, and he kind of read the room and just gave her her space. But he was always very friendly and polite, so when they started to warm up to each other it didn’t take long for them to be fast friends. She’s a very touchy person, and while Jaewoo isn’t, he doesn’t mind at all when it’s her and never hesitates to stand with an arm around her shoulders, even for press events and at airports. There were dating rumours, but anyone with eyes can tell that she’s just like a little sister to him (even though she older). Sana also isn’t shy to speak out in defence of him, and any snide comment about his dancing almost always earns a very quiet, but determined “Jaewoo is a great dancer!”, which he always appreciates.

Mina She hadn’t trained for very long before they debuted, and even though she was shy, she really relied on Jaewoo because he could always tell if she needed help. Even if she decided to stay late to practice and he didn’t need to, he always did so that she wouldn’t need to walk home alone. As her stress got worse, she relied very heavily on him, and was holding his hand at airports to manage the crowds. Jaewoo is not an aggressive person in the slightest, but he had to issue an apology after it seemed he shoved people back when they got too close to her. Despite this, most fans were fully supportive and he made it clear how excited he was when she came back to the group. Though they have very different dance styles, they often practice together and borrow from each other’s styles.

Dahyun They didn’t vibe right away, because their sense of humour and personalities seemed incompatible. But as they grew closer, Dahyun quickly realized that her favourite thing was teasing Jaewoo. He rarely actually got annoyed, but he could get quite playful, and is always armed with quips about her height to fight back. They’re very supportive of each other, but Dayhun is probably the only member that he genuinely teases. Fans think it’s hilarious, and they play it up because they know it’s funny, but they never let it get too far and are genuinely great friends now.

Chaeyoung Jaewoo honestly can’t with her. He loves her, but since about two weeks after debut she’s been stealing his clothes. She claims that it’s because he dresses well, but he knows she just likes that his clothes are big on her and comfy. But all jokes aside, he thinks she’s so insanely talented and is so supportive and hyped about her singing and writing. He hates it whenever she get’s down on herself and if he were to pick which member would be his ‘bias’ he’d easily say her. She really does admire him, because he seems to untouchable, but he can get sensitive when he needs to and she is always quick to come to him with a problem. Honestly they just love each other, and she really does think of him as an older brother figure.

Tzuyu They get made fun of for being tall all of the time, but they always stick together. But seriously, Jaewoo acted like a big brother to her from day one, and she really depends on him. He does not stand for anyone criticizing her or saying that she didn’t deserve to be in Twice, and makes an active effort to shield her from those types of comments. He also tries to hide her from any criticism from the company level, which actually got him in trouble for being disruptive. She doesn’t like to make it obvious how much she depends on him, but he can tell the second she’s upset and is always quick to make sure she’s okay. He doesn’t really understand why she looks up to him so much, he just knows that if he were the youngest member of a group in a foreign country, he’d want to know that someone has his back, and so he promised to always be that person for her.

Experimental Copy of the Documents handed over by Susumu Nakamura, adapted by Angelo Sebastiani into a short story to tell of what happened.

There were many emotions that Susumu was feeling within this moment. With his true self, he's finally managed to publish another manga, and Beijing was the first city that he was going to meet people at, finally. A chance to be with the fans, and a holiday from being a manga artist and book writer. And his husband needed a break from the modelling opportunities that he was getting. The name of the husband, you may ask? Nathaniel Huang.

A man of around the same age and popularity as the man that he's married. The love that he's had for years with him. Nathaniel, whenever Susumu felt that he was with him. He felt complete, well and truly, he felt complete. Susumu even based some parts of the manga around his husband because of the fact that Nathaniel inspired him so much with his manga. Susumu has done most of the manga however, being the one that's come up with the original ideas for the stories that are embedded within the nine hundred page behemoth of a book. But also within the intricate details of what happens throughout the story. Boarding the plane to Beijing from Tokyo. Susumu expresses his own fears of finding a hotel. Since everywhere may have been booked beforehand. The man looks down slightly and his husband reassures him that they'll find somewhere to stay for the night, even though the meet and greet was cheap and admittedly, a lot of people went through with wanting to meet them.

* * * Five hours later, they manage to get to a hotel in Beijing as quickly as possible, before having to go into town square the following morning. Nathaniel looks longingly at a Captain America badge that someone was selling up at a market counter. Grabbing it, he decides to pay for it, as a present for his husband. Susumu thanked him quickly for the present and immediately wore it with happiness. Ever since the hero had gone missing, the popularity of his merchandise had been boosted in China. Meiguo Duizhang was becoming a staple of Chinese merchandise and strangely enough it had not been censored whatsoever when he went missing. Well, if he went missing, that is. The details were hazy upon the case of him. No one knew, and China, they were trying to find a new one in order to go through with trying to recreate him over and over. Even though the avengers originally promised that there would be another one if he was to ever step down. 'Wasn't your idol always Captain America when you grew up?' Nathaniel joked. 'Well, only when I found out the comics were being sold in Ireland.' Susumu responded, laughing slightly at what his husband had to say. 'But, yeah, I absolutely loved him.' 'Seems like the whole of China is going crazy over him.' 'Well isn't that obvious?' asks he. The Irish accent almost erupting from his voice as he asked. 'Hey-- calm down.' 'I am calm. What do you think we should do now?' 'Get something to eat, get some rest?' 'Sounds like a plan.' 'Quick question, babe?' 'Yuh-huh?' 'I'm just wondering, I have a meeting tomorrow morning, so are you good with just holding the panel on your own.' 'Yeah sure, I'm fine with that.' 'Alright, thank you.' Nathaniel says, hugging him tightly. A laugh erupting from his lungs slightly as he cuddles him. 'Stop crushing me with your hugs!' Later on within the night, they both had a romantic dinner and eventually, they both went to bed, cuddling together and eventually going to sleep. Susumu struggling more to go to sleep than Nathaniel. They decided to watch a film together, Susumu huddled up into Nathaniel's shirt. They kissed for a while, and they finally laid down. Holy hell he was excited. So excited for what tomorrow had to bring, so excited for whom he'd meet tomorrow. He eventually went to sleep with these thoughts within his head. * * * A few hours later, Susumu couldn't feel his husband by his side. He woke up, and only saw a bunch of black figures and Nathaniel in the background, instructing them all in Mandarin as to what to do with him. 'No! Get off me! I said get the fuck off me!' He shouts, they tried to bring him in but he continued to try to fight them off, that was until he felt a needle in the nape of his neck and was laid to rest once again through sedatives. What happened next, it's a much more darker story. He remembers these men trying to put him in a chamber, spraying him down with a lot of disinfectant before they started on him. Giving him his own clothes and then another injection to the back. China was obsessed with becoming the next power and this was one of the first ways of doing it. Susumu screams out as he feels himself getting pricked with needle. He felt himself grow larger with every injection that they made, and then they finally moved onto another part of him. 'Make him look like his crush, why don't you?' Nathaniel seemingly mocks him from the speakers. Susumu was shaking at this point, he still had a tan skin tone. His face was still all the same, still flawed. Still imperfect. He curled up into a ball and eventually was put to sleep yet again by sedatives. Although, the sedative didn't exactly work as intended. He felt everything, every single cut and prod that they pulled on him when they wanted to render him immaculate. How they changed his jawline, how they changed his skin tone. Everything. They changed everything about him. Up to the point where he was no longer recognisable as his normal self. 'Perfect...' Nathaniel says to himself as he looks down upon his quivering boyfriend in the corner of the room. Susumu didn't want to be perfect, he just wanted to be himself. 'What did you do to me?' He asks, looking up at his boyfriend. His voice croaking through. He had to stop himself from crying. 'I just wanted you to be more happy than you were before.' Nathaniel states to him. Shouting was then heard: 'No-- no why isn't the power fitting in with him?! You're saying it's his gene pool? What the fuck-- I've been trying my best to coax him into this for so long.' He shouts, lying to the people he's faithful to in the process. 'Only for it to fuck up because of his heritage?! I thought, I thought he could have fitted the genes. Give it to me! Give the fucking serum to me!' He hoped to wake up and see whether this was all a bad dream that he was having in his head. * * * Susumu eventually woke up in the hotel bedroom. He smiles softly as he begins to slowly think that it's nothing but a simple nightmare that he had. He gets out of bed. 'Nathaniel! Nathaniel, did you go for your meeting?' His voice hasn't changed in the slightest, it must have been a bad dream. he smiles even more widely. Relieved. 'Fuck he left, didn't even get to say good morning to him...' He then thinks to himself. Looking down at a table he notices a note completely in Japanese. 'Susumu, I've had a lot of fun with you over the past few years, but I've finally decided that we'd best go our separate ways. I hope you the best in the world and honestly, I really do hope that you feel happy. The reasons why I wanted to leave I'll disclose right here in this note. I no longer felt that spark that we once had back when we first met, I no longer felt that love for you that we once had. We both have such large differences, creatively and mentally that it's almost boggling as to how we got together. I'll admit, I'm so surprised that we lasted this long. I'm so sorry, Susumu. I loved you. I really did, but now I just can't keep that façade up for much longer. I'm so sorry. I hope you find happiness. Love Nathaniel xx' The man looks down at the note for a few minutes. Sitting back on the bed as he reads it, over, and over, and over again. He can't believe what he's seeing. He just wants to rip up the note. The feeling of being broken up with after a four year relationship made him feel sick to the stomach, he went into the bathroom, quickly, to get himself ready for his first meeting. He'll still be there. That's when he looked in the mirror. 'No . . . no . . . ' He lets out as he looks at himself. An arising fear beginning to grow and flourish within his body. He looked exactly like what Nathaniel wanted him to look like within the dream. Captain America. He has the brown, almost blonde hair, the chiselled jawline, the beautiful adonis like body that he had. He has everything about him. The only thing that Nathaniel didn't change about him was the beard. He kept that. The only thing that he kept about Susumu. When Susumu's fear starts to grow, he notices a shadow appear on the wall and break the mirror in front of him. He freezes for a moment. He was going to punch the mirror but that would be damage to property and he couldn't do that. 'Fuck--' He lets out as pieces of the mirror were all over the sink. He clenches his hand in anxiety as he wishes to fix the mirror again. Almost as if he could reset time, the mirror returned to its original state. No longer broken. Susumu looks down, noticing that there's still a piece of glass upon the tile floor. He picks it up and looks at the mirror. The mirror in reality was still broken. Thinking that he could get away with this, he changes his appearance to fit that with reality, although when he went out, a lot of people gave him strange looks, and some even called him by the name that he no longer wishes to be associated with. Meiguo duizhang. He went through with the meeting and a lot of people pointed out that he looked different to the profile photo that he shared of himself. Fuck this isn't working. The thought went through his head and thankfully, no footage of the meet and greet was ever posted on social media or was ever on the news. Susumu had to give back all the money that he gained, he hoped to give it to a charity that was about the poverty line. Helping those who were homeless. But now, there's no money. Susumu feels that he has no identity, nothing, he's left with nothing. His husband fucked up his whole life. He got on the plane back to America and quickly set course for New York, on a panic flight. Not even knowing where he was going. He managed to get through to the airport through a loophole in the system. His fingerprint was still the same, and the Chinese airport checked everything. While it took a day or two, he had a new passport and he could get in. * * * Eventually, he managed to get back there and he walked through the alleyways in order to feel as if he was slightly safer, that's when he stumbled across a woman with a knife, threatening to stab and kill him if he didn't give her his money. The woman was caucasian, a ripe age and unfortunately had stumbled down into the black market and got herself into debt. She started driving the knife closer to his stomach. 'Give me the fucking wallet!' She screams out. A circle of darkness forms behind her and pulls her back onto the wall. Trapping her there. Susumu then quickly makes his escape and manages to get to his house, letting the woman go before doing so. He eventually stays in the house and he begins to break down completely. Curled up in a corner, taking deep breaths to avert the point of sensory overload. He continues to do this for around thirty minutes. Going into his room, he ends up making a mirage for someone else unintentionally. He looked out the window and created another vision of a car, completely totalled in front of a driver. The driver who witnessed it got out of his vehicle and went towards the wreck, only for the wreck to then disappear. Causing him to panic and run back to his car immediately. That's when he realises, that he can bend reality to his own will.

Winter Begonia episode 3

This episode opens with the audience waiting on our little divo. Minister Jin asks Boss Niu whether SXR has found a replacement for the violinist. If not, he will make good on his threat. Weasel Dengbao repeats what Minister Jin said to his dad, like the man was not sitting right next to the corrupt politician. The father replies if that is not exactly what he wants, to which Asian Crispin Glover bemoans that he is not that cruel.

Meanwhile, Fan Lian acting like the typical fan wants to know what to know what SXR will be playing. CFT like the good boyfriend he will become says that whatever his bae plays will be excellent. Can I have my own Er Ye?

Our pouty lips divo finally arrives on stage holding a Chinese violin. Everyone is intrigued, wondering if he can actually play the instrument. Daddy weasel Jiang explains that it takes hundred days to learn the dizi, a type of Chinese bamboo flute, a thousand days to learn the xiao (Chinese vertical flute) and ten years to be experienced enough to play the huqin/Chinese violin. I guess all these instruments are used in the opera. This worries Niu Bao Lan who clearly cares for our lil penguin.

But no worries, our boy is a musical genius and he showcases it by playing the violin expertly, much to the dismay of the Jiang pair. Fan Lian is obviously amazed by how talent his idol is, while CFT is all smiles and heart eyes. Like bro, can you be more obvious in your fawning over your crush? He confirms what SXR had told him about being a hero.

Looking at his bae with open admiration. Xirui share the wealth, sis!

Dengbao is clearly not happy that SXR will now be even more popular because of his prowess, but daddy tells him not to fly the white flag just yet. SXR must have a weakness and they will find a way to exploit it.

Indeed, they find a way to manipulate SXR’s self-righteousness and stubbornness by loudly giving away the slush fund to Minister Jin’s secretary.

It is obviously a trap to push the impetuous young man to make a major faux pas. Just as Daddy Jiang predicted, SXR decides to go back to the stage and sing an opera, as a laosheng (an older male role, something he hasn’t done in a while) about a corrupt Ming Dynasty minister who stole money from the empire.

The crowd is clued in of the opera’s implication, including Fan Lian. CFT, the opera novice, meanwhile is unaware of it and even claps thinking it is just a good performance. When Fan Lian explains it to him, he even more impressed at how gutsy his crush is.

Hero gaze activated. Anyone who touches bae will get the beating of his life. I swear his attention perks up whenever someone threatens his lil penguin!

Minister Jin tells his secretary to send some guys after SXR.. Our little divo is no slouch in the martial arts department and is able to escape. His dashing hero is waiting for him in the car and invites him to hop in.

Minister Jin is surprised that SXR was able to slip through his fingers, but decides to not pursue him all the way to the opera house, not wanting to waste time on someone so insignificant. Oh boy, if you only knew who is future boyfriend was! Talking about boyfriend, CFT praises his lil divo’s martial arts skills; of course, SXR boasts that he is skilled in both singing and kung fu, without a hint of humility. CFT asks if his little act was to his satisfaction and of course, Xirui answers in the affirmative. CFT lets him know that his act will have consequences since he drew the ire of a powerful man by exposing his bad deeds and this matter will not be let go. Xirui asks CFT what he should in that case. CFT tells him he cannot do it alone, he will need help and then explains why Minister Jin tried to embezzled the money. Apparently it is not really about the money, but about securing his position in Beiping against the juggernaut that is Commander Cao. Unfortunately this flies over Xirui’s head who is probably looking at Er Ye’s beautiful profile and thinking of a few operas he wants to sing for him. Or how lucky he has found such a sexy daddy. Oh, I wish I was in your place sweetie. CFT promises he will take care of the situation for him and offers food, which he seems to know it’s something his crush understands. Then they gaze into each other’s eyes with Er Ye smiling softly and holy shit, like the gaze actually last more than a second! How this past censorship, I will never know.

We see Minister Jin acting like the pompous ass he is, walking down the street with his loot. Someone shoots at his hat, creating a diversion to take said loot, which he realizes too late.

Ohh so that is CFT’s plan, as we see his crew bring back the money. He tells them to send it to the anti-Japanese coalition. This little act sinks Minister Jin who is accused of corruption and loses his fight against Commander Cao without the latter raising a finger.

This obviously does not sit well with weasel Dengbao who complains, like the little bish he is, to his father. Apparently, Xirui found another opera house to perform; it’s a popular house that has hosted many big opera performers (jue’er). His father tells him that they may not have to lift a finger, others will do the heavy lifting for them in dealing with Xirui. He lets him on a secret about the so-called bad blood between Commander Cao and Xirui back when they were in Pingyang.

Weasel Cao decides they need to spill the tea about the situation

The next day, Xirui and his troupe come into the opera house and find Dengbao’s troupe, Longchun Troupe, in their space and the cattiness ensues. I swear, it feels like watching the backstage of a theater or Hollywood, where rival actors get in each others’ faces for some primetime.

Dengbao sneers, telling Xirui the opera house is now his territory. Whatever Asian Mr. World. There’s a staredown which is interrupted by the opera house manager.

SXR demands an explanation for basically reneging on their agreement. The manager tells them he has his reasons for doing so, but if they want to perform they can take the morning spot, which is basically relegating a rising star, like Beyonce, to be the opening act instead of the primetime act, which is a major downgrade.

Not only that, but it will be doing so until another performer, who is currently sick, returns. Best girl Xiao Lai tells SXR to find another spot to perform, offended by the obvious downgrade.

The manager lets them know that other houses will probably turn them down. It turns out that removing Minister Jin in favor of Commander Cao has made his previous encounter with the warlord resurface and no one wants to deal with this hot mess, in fear they will draw the wrath of Beijing’s new boss. SXR looks at Dengbao and I believe he realizes this was his doing.

He discusses the matter with sexy crush while eating a steak like a country girl at a fancy debutante ball. He tells CFT that the gossip is blown out of proportion; he doesn’t really have any feud with the commander. It turns out the commander wanted to keep the troupe as its personal entertainment, which goes against SXR wish of performing on stage. After all, the stage is everything for him. He refused to continue singing, which led the commander to threaten him with a gun. Our little divo showed his backbone, not flinching a tiny bit while feeling the cold barrel pressed against his head. . Xirui tells CFT that all the other things are unfounded gossips, there is nothing more between them. A sidenote, in the novel, SXR was actually Commander Cao’s boy toy, which drew Meixin’s jealousy, forcing SXR to hide in his room to avoid her. He left for the same reason. Like a good boyfriend, CFT shows his understanding of the situation, replying that no one else was there so people ran with the gossip. Xirui sees the people who believes the rumors as brainless, and I have to agree with him on this. Even in modern time, people will believe whatever they want to believe about celebrities without using logic.

Can we take time to see how beautiful Yin Zheng look here?

Sexy CFT agrees and even brings up the fact that if the rumors were true, SXR would have been six feet under. He knows his BIL very well. Unfortunately, this does not change the fact that people will believe the gossip especially if the parties involved do not clarify the situation. CFT offers to remedy the situation by inviting SXR to sing at his son’s first birthday, where the commander will also be in attendance to celebrate his political win. SXR is honored to come sing for the Little Master and would have done so even without the added benefit.

We see two people walking and I smell trouble. The woman seems taken by the environment surrounding her, as if it is the first time she sees such luxury. Her husband is very sweet and soft-spoken and you can tell he is very much caring towards her. They are even holding hands like a pair of teenage lovers. Hmmm...could this provide a parallel between CFT and his wife?

Fan Lian greets them and we find out it’s the rumored couple mentioned in the gossip about SXR when he was still in Pingyang. The woman is Jiang Menping, Xirui’s former senior sister and her husband, Chang Zhixin, is Fan Lian and Er Nainai’s cousin. They have come to Beijing because the cousin works in government. Apparently the mention of Shuiyun is persona non grata around Meiping. She looks a shy and pensive woman, a complete contrast to the childlike and wild SXR.

They come to visit Er Nainai and CZX is taken by Er Nainai’s son, doting on him, which seems to sadden Meiping. Er Nainai, after chatting incessantly about it until she notices Menping’s sad gaze. We learn she has been trying to get pregnant but her body is unhealthy or unable to produce children. CZX showcases how much of a doting husband he is, stating that he actually does not like kids at all, which is a sweet lie. He only wants her, nothing else. Sigh...will I ever find someone like this.

I digress...He adds that since he comes from a large family and had to deal with a lot of crying brats, he has grown to dislike kids. You can tell he is saying this to make her feel good and she knows, but she is grateful and bask in his love. Er Nainai notices the sweet moment and you can tell she wishes that Er Ye was that loving.

She gives Menping a pair of earrings as a wedding gift, which she could not attend. Menping feels the jewelry is too luxurious, which makes me think they are a frugal type couple, despite the high level job he has and his aristocratic background. Er Nainai apologizes for her faux pas earlier, which Menping assures her it is okay. CZX cannot stay a few moments away from his wife, acting all anxious as if she had disappeared. She reminds him that it has only been 30 minutes, but in his mind, it felt like a day. I may get diabetes from all that sweetness. He quickly notices the earrings. He tells Er Nainai that he notices everything about Menping, down to the details like new earrings. Oooh, the look of envy is all over Er Nainai’s face.

Is he for real??

We see Er Nainai trying out new earrings, obviously in the hopes that dashing CFT will notice. Oh sis, your relationship is not the same as your cousin. CFT comes in and thrown himself on the bed, fully clothed. He looks like he had a full day. She helps him out of his jacket and tries to draw his attention to the earrings. Oh sis, i am telling you that you are wasting your time. His heart eyes are not for you. He jokes that she looks chubbier (BRO!) and she pushes him back on the bed. He wants to know what has gotten in her to make her irritated towards him. She pouts and walks back to her dresser, obviously disappointed that he did not notice the minute change.

BRO! The last thing a woman wants to hear!

He’s like, okay fine, I am going to wash up, but by the way, next week is our son’s first birthday, so take care of the preparation, especially since my BIL will be coming for his big celebration. As he walks away, she mutters that she’s no better than a servant and takes off the earrings.

It’s the day of the Little Master’s birthday and Meixin is acting like a good hostess, guiding the servants and being the mistress of the house. Apparently, Er Nainai is still pouting in her room. One of the servants inform her the opera troupe is here and it is obvious that she has no idea who it is. By the way, let me pause again and talk about the fashion. Meixin’s dress and the mink she wears is gorgeous. Good lord the details in this show!!! Ok, so back to the program, she tells the servant to warn the maids not to go near the performers, again highlighting the prejudice carried against the performers, who were lower than even prostitutes. Sigh, hierarchical societies are bleh.

Meixin inquires about Er Nainai and right on cue, we see her, gazing into space, clearly still not over the fact that her husband does not pay full attention to her. Gurl, your marriage cannot be compared to that of your cousin! He married for love, while your husband married you for convenience. Even if you are in love with him, the same cannot be said about him! He still showers you with affection and care, some people cannot even find that!

Ugh, Meixin barges in and they have a little sister chat about the birds and the bees, the difference between men and women when it comes to love. Meixin wonders if she has a fever or something, and Er Nainai explains that she read an opera script (really sis?!) that claims if a woman has never or be loved, is she living in vain and I am sitting here, looking at myself, feeling forever alone...

Sis, way to twist the knife in my wound

Meixin dismiss this nonsense, telling that most opera scripts are fake to fool young girls (that sounds familiar) and that as an housewife, she has obligations to fulfill. Er Nainai insists the stories are real and brings up the real reason why she feels out of sorts.

Meixin is like, the hell girl, why are you bringing this nonsense up? Did my brother offend you or something? Er Nainai says no, but she feels Fengtai is not like other men, which Meixin tells her it’s a good thing.

Every men are not supposed to be the same and Er Nainai acts like she’s a little girl. Meixin explains that some men are verbose with their love, while others carried in their hearts. There are other men who sleeps around (hmmm is this a reference to novel Fengtai?) while others simply do not understand romance.

She thinks Fengtai is of the latter (maybe because he has not found the person to display his love to). Meixin reminds her of the type of man her brother is, someone who is bright and sensible, and she should be happy to have someone like this as a husband, instead of a gruff like Commander Cao. No truer words spoken, sis!

Oh SIS! I hope you never see your husband’s face when he looks at his chubby cheeks bae. You might be too mad to see such obvious display of adoration

Meanwhile Hot daddy CFT struts his stuff into the banquet area of his house, schmoozing to his guests. Mr Hao Lan, who I believe is the head servant of the household, urges him to go outside and wait to greet the Commander. CFT tells him not to fret, the man of the hour will probably fashionably late.

His mind quickly shifts to his bae and he inquires about the troupe. As soon as he finds out there are already in his home, he goes out to check. Oh boy, the man is enamored, completely unaware that his wife is having a heart-to-heart about their relationship.

He hears some of the singers fighting with their troupe leader, irritating Shang Lao Ban so much, he storms out. As soon as Xirui sees CFT, he is all smiles while CFT gives him his soft gaze that shows all the affection he has for our adorable divo. Oh, if Er Nainai had seen this, she would have blown a casket.

If I could find a man who looks at me like Er Ye looks at Xirui

He claims to come and get a look at his bae check the preparations, wondering if it was bad time since he overheard the arguing. Sis, you are here to gaze at your crush

SXR chuckles, dismissing the silly fight. Er Ye tells him that he has hired photographers and reporters to help with dismissing the rumors. The headline, according to him will read “Shang Xirui’s beautiful voice caused Commander Cao to light up and smile”. Geez can I get a hype man like this? SXR is grateful at all the support CFT provided and wonders how he is going to repay him.

Sigh...

Right at this moment, the man of the hour arrives with all the pomp. Lao Han rush CFT to the front door to greet the Commander. CFT reminds SXR that the rest is up to him to either fail or succeed in dispeling the rumors. SXR tells him not to worry and CFT replies with another one of his killer smiles. He runs to the door as Commander Cao steps out of the car. BIL tells him that he saw him running to greet him instead of waiting for him, all in jest.

They clearly have a good relationship. CFT even jest that he doesn’t have another elder sister to give away for marriage when Commander Cao brings out all the gifts. Not to be outdone in the hilarious department, Cao tells him about the gift he brought to his little nephew and I swear I am endeared by the gruff old man when he describes the noise made by the toy train.

Fan Lian is acting like the young master of the house, walking aimlessly towards the kitchen where he finds his cousins helping out. He’s like, what the hell are you guys doing? You are guests, not helpers! He tells them to go change and attend the banquet, hoping CXZ could rub shoulders with Old Cao for his career, but CXZ sounds like an honest politician.

Commander Cao and Fengtai are jesting again, and you really feel their relationship is not based on hierarchy, but one of affection. I think this is the first time I see a Republican Era drama that shows a warlord’s softer side. Is this show for real???? They are discussing the tense relationship between his son, Cao Guixi who is also a top member of the army, and him. Lol, he even calls him a son of a bitch, which makes CFT spit out the hazelnut out of his mouth. Apparently, the son is being ungrateful after his father gave him a golden ticket by sending him abroad, but he is turning out to be rebellious, even hanging out with sketchy people.

Unfortunately for the Commander, since it’s his only heir, he can’t do much to suppress the young master.

Oh, is the young master cause problem later?

Fengtai suggests that Commander impregnates his sister so she can give him another heir (no worries, this is said in jest) and he can shoot the current heir. Fengtai asks why the Commander is so sweet with him (hmm because you are so damn charming, who can resist you?) while so stern with his son. The Commander does not want to talk his son because the latter infuriates him. He then calls Fengtai using a feminized version of his name (Feng’er), which shows the kind of affection they have between each other. Awww...Fengtai playfully acts embarrassed, which only prompts the Commander to yell out the girly nickname. LOL, I cannot!

He then tells the Commander that he has brought Shang Xirui to perform for him, but if this offends him, he will send the troupe back. He informs him of the situation the opera singer has found himself because of their nebulous past, but it seems, based on the Commander’s reaction, to be water under the bridge. The Commander finds the gossip silly since he does not consider the lil divo as a worthy enemy. Relieved, CFT tells him that he will make SXR sing a great piece for him and even apologizes, but the Commander knows the lil divo is a stubborn child who does not bend over for anyone. The Commander requests a popular Shaanxi Opera called Qinqiang (I may actually make a post about the different operas). CFT orders the manager to inform SXR of the request.

SXR is not too happy about the sudden change, since he doesn’t have the right costume and makeup to perform this opera. Oof, any creatives reading this will understand his fretting. We like to be perfect when we deliver our art and any last minute inconvenience can throw a major wrench in our delivery.

Manager Han tells him it was a request from the Commander himself, so basically he has no choice. Despite having a well-know stubborn personality, SXR acquiesces, but he is not happy about it. He knows he has no choice but to please the Commander since his future depends on it Even his troupe member comments at this overbearing commander’s unfair request. SXR asks Xiao Lai if he should perform without all of his accoutrement, which best girl agrees.

He is going to need far more food than the dainty offering from la casa de Cheng.

She goes out to get something heavier, while Manager Han catches up with Meixin to let her know that her hubby is here. She spots Xiao Lai and you know trouble is a-brewing. She asks who that girl is as she looks familiar and learns which opera troupe was invite. Realizing the impending trouble since Er Nainai’s cousins are also attending the banquet, she ask the manager to quickly fix this messy situation.

Ooph, there are so many good moments in this episode, especially with SXR calling out the minister for embezzlement, showing CFT that despite being a dan, he is no damsel. We find out that he has martial art skills, which will probably be handy in later episodes. We also finally get a chance to see the Commander and more family dynamics on CFT sides. His relationship with this BIL is quite interesting and despite the obvious difference in status, they are quite affectionate with each other. I feel like I am watching a more Westernized relationship than a typical Asian one. Additionally, we get to see the much talked about Jiang Menping and her husband. Their relationship is again a very Westernized lovey-dovey relationship, that of love, not one of arranged marriage, which contrast immensely to Fengtai-Er Nainai’s relationship. This makes Er Nainai yearns for such devotion from her husband, which we know she will not get since a lil divo has bursted into the scene and crept up inside CFT’s heart. I feel for her, you can tell she has love for her husband, but she is equally naive when it comes to relationship and how to deal with men in general. She is after all a very conservative woman, who unlike her well-cultured husband, represents the vestiges of a fallen dynasty and society, that is still trying to hang on desperately. I sense trouble brewing between Xirui, the cousins and Commander Cao

Shopping Trip

Summary: Sharp needs to expand her wardrobe beyond workout clothes. Yuki and Dom are there to help, whether she likes it or not.

"Do you own anything besides athletic wear, Sharp-chan?" Yuki said, raising a brow at Sharp's sports bra and athletic shorts.

The trio of demons were hanging out in Yuki's room at her Okiya, though it could more accurately be described as an apartment. It was a perfect blend of traditional Japanese architecture with all the modern conveniences; TV, computer and a more modern, if small kitchen. The demons were lounging around a table, Dom sitting on a couch with Sharp laying in his lap while Yuki did her makeup while gazing into a small mirror.

"Not really. Most clothes aren't built for my body anyway." Sharp said, casually flexing her arms, which were crossed behind her head.

"Could say the same for me," Dom said. "But I found a brand that makes suits that fit me without having to get them custom-tailored."

Sharp chuckled. "You just like their tagline. 'Eighteen-inch biceps are hard to come by, a suit that fits them shouldn't be.'"

“It’s an awesome tagline,” Dom said, not bothering to deny it. “It’s one of the few non-athletic lines that cater to the man that doesn’t skip leg day.”

“Exactly; man,” Sharp said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “While the extremely ripped man might be a not so common sight, you never see women built like me. Society doesn’t exactly advocate muscular women.”

“Since when do you care what they say?” Yuki said, glancing up from her mirror as she pulled out her lip paints.

“I don’t care about what they say. It’s what they don’t make that keeps me from dressing up. Though it is kind of a badge of pride for me that I can bust out of clothes made for ‘normal people.’” Sharp said, using air quotes.

“I agree,” Dom said, smirking. There was something that made him a little smug knowing he could actually flex and rip a shirt made for ‘regularly built’ men.

“I’m sure we can get you some clothes that you won’t wear to the gym,” Yuki said, placing her makeup brush down.

“Why are you getting up?” Sharp asked, ears flattening in worry.

“Shopping trip?” Dom asked, perking up.

“Yes,” Yuki said before opening the shoji door and shouting for someone to bring a car around front.

“Do I get a say in this?” Sharp asked indignantly as Dom yanked her off the couch.

“Nope.” The demons chimed before dragging the lioness downstairs and out the front door.

“This is so dumb.” Sharp sighed in aggravation as she was dragged through a massive mall.

“There is nothing dumb about fashion, Sharp-chan,” Yuki said, pressing her closed fan to her lips as she scanned the stores. When going out and about, or simply when she wasn’t working, Yuki shed her heavy formal kimonos for shorter ones that only came down to her knees. She also shed Geta shoes for simple flats. The reasoning behind both changes was simple; it made walking easier.

“Didn’t think you'd be so excited to go to the mall?" Sharp said, glancing at Dom who was also scanning the stores.

"Why, because I'm a man?" Dom asked, not looking at her.

"A straight man."

"A cis-gendered straight man can care about fashion," Dom said, before finding a store that had what he was looking for. "I'm about to introduce you to the wonderful power of jeggings." He said, grabbing Sharp's wrist and pulling her in.

"How do you know about jeggings, Dom-Kun?" Yuki asked, blue eyes scanning the store.

"Women can be chatty after sex and sometimes they do online shopping while I'm still catching my breath," Dom said. "Though I'm afraid this is where my expertise ends. Yuki, you're up."

"SHE DOESN'T EVEN WEAR PANTS!" Sharp screeched as Yuki dragged her towards the dressing room, picking up various pants along the way.

Dom sat on one of the little couches by the dressing rooms. It was hilarious to hear Sharp screeching and sputtering as Yuki, presumably, forcibly removed her pants and shoved her into one of the new pairs. Whenever Sharp came out of the dressing room the knight made a show of clapping and cheering which made Sharp's ears go hot.

This process continued for a few stores. A lot of stretchy pants and shirts with shoulder flattering necklines. They had many different bags. While shopping wasn't his favorite activity in the world, helping his friend was. Sharp was standing on a slightly raised platform, surrounded by mirrors as Yuki straightened out a more business-like outfit on the muscular lioness. Because the fox demon was so focused on the clothes, she didn't catch where Sharp's eyes kept straying to.

"You keep looking at that blue dress," Dom said, gesturing at the mannequin behind him.

"It's... pretty," Sharp said, her ears flattening.

"Sharp-chan! You would look so good!" Yuki said, blue eyes sparkling and her fox tail wagging.

"I can't wear something like that!" Sharp said, looking shy and nervous, a very rare sight. She was even starting to play with her tail.

"Can my friend try that dress on?" Dom asked a sales associate.

"Why can't you wear a dress, Sharp-chan?" Yuki asked hands on her hips.

"I can't- I don't have... the figure..." She trailed off, ears flat against her head.

Yuki said something angrily in Japanese that Dom didn't understand. His feathers were ruffled and his wings were drooping, both angry and sad that his friend thought she couldn't wear dresses because of how she was built.

"You're going to try on that dress, you're going to twirl and you'll be pretty," Dom said firmly.

Yuki effectively said the same thing, though with more angry, Japanese side tangents. The Geisha shoved Sharp back into the changing room once she had the dress. Dom heard more scuffling and eventually, even his patience wore thin.

“Don’t make me go in there, Sharp!” He snapped.

Eventually, the lioness demon was forcibly shoved out of the changing room, looking very nervous and flustered. She was wearing a powder blue, chiffon dress with a jeweled neckline. Yuki emerged shortly thereafter, adjusting her Kimono and righting her hair. Sharp turned to face the fox demoness and Dom, who let out a wolf whistle with an embarrassed and angry face.

“I can’t wear this!” She snapped.

“Well, you are,” Yuki said, smiling much like the fox she was.

“I have nowhere I would need to wear this!”

“I can start inviting you to royal functions,” Dom said, smirking. When Sharp’s eyes widened in a panic he backtracked. “But we can start with a more formal dinner together.”

The lioness was clearly scrambling for excuses.

“Well I’m not going to spend this much on a dress,” Sharp said, showing them a four-digit price tag.

“We are,” Yuki said, grinning more.

“Consider it a present for being so awesome.” Dom grinned, looking at his friend.

Sharp whirled around with a growl, crossing her arms, though her friends could see the tiny smile in the mirrors.

How Golden Kamuy Outshines Competition

A Review

“GORUDEEEEEEN KAMUUUUUUY!”

That’s how I first heard of Golden Kamuy – a male voice screaming its title in around 2-minute intervals. I was busy slurping ramen in the communal eating tent in Odori Park when it blared in my ear. All through the day, they played its trailer on the tent TVs over and over again. It seemed interesting, and it was quite apt to see it being promoted there - after all, we were surrounded by snow, in Hokkaido, where the story was set. I kept seeing it in bookstores and its artwas eye-catching. But as soon as I was back on home soil, my interest was gone.

Life caught right back up with me, so I forgot about Golden Kamuy completely. Not until I saw some artists I follow post amazing fan art of it on Twitter. They were all singing it praises and the official art was beautiful, so I thought, ‘aw heck, why not?’

Let me tell you: there are no reasons not to.

SUGIMOTO, THIS ISN’T SHOUNEN ANYMORE

I’m what you call a…sporadic manga reader. I’m not up to speed with manga trends and it can take me a while to catch up. I read stuff that get my attention and when they’re recommended by my friends (I still haven’t touched Boku no Hero Academia or Shokugeki no Soma, though). I also don’t limit myself to just one genre. There are months that I devour shoujo/josei manga, like Hana Nochi Hare and Dame na Watashi ni Koi wo Kudasai. Then I’d switch over to read through volumes upon volumes of shounen manga (hi, Gintama, Haikyuu). Then there are periods wherein I just don’t read at all, devoting my time to other activities instead.

Golden Kamuy, brainchild of artist Noda Satoru, is probably my first real foray into the seinen manga territory. The art, the storyline, the comedy, the stakes – every page told me that I wasn’t reading shounen anymore. Dick jokes weren’t dealt with caution. Gore was done with no shame. Raw Japanese scans didn’t have the hiragana reading aids. Strangely enough, it brought me back to all the titles I used to read when I was young. It made me realize all the stuff I was reading back then were very edgelord-esque and middle-school-syndrome-ish - the stuff of nightmares. Body horror, violence, gore, debauchery – CLAMP and Kaori Yuuki had primed my teenage self for all of them.

But at least, now, the edginess was dealt with a more mature hand.

Hence it was no surprise that Kamuy ignited a sense of familiarity. I had mellowed down when I grew up (it saddens me that I really am quite a grown-up now) and, in turn, settled for fun, cheerful, romantic manga (to keep the dreariness of everyday life away, I guess haha). I got used to leisurely pacing and lighthearted comedy. Reading Golden Kamuy felt like I skydived into the unforgiving arena I had left – an arena that had been made fresher, better.

SO FRESH, YOU’RE EATING IT RAW

What makes Kamuy an instant hit is its interesting combination of rarely-used elements. Post-War, Meiji-Era historical, early 1900s, hunting, Hokkaido, Ainu culture: can you really find another title that uses said mix? It’s no wonder people are attracted to the series.

It also helps that the art is just spectacular. Noda’s artistic skill shines through every page, chapter, and volume cover. His poses are dynamic, his coloring brave. Sometimes the color combinations he uses just scream modern, serving as nice contrasts to the story’s historical, traditional setting. His character designs are unique and fresh – more so their personalities. Sugimoto’s facial scars are refreshing to the eye; Tsurumi’s half-corrupted face paired with a metal plate is a design I’ve never seen before. His art style brings out his designs to life in a way only he can – we’ve all seen cross-dressing men and shaved-bald convicts before, but still he was able to make Ienaga and Shiraishi look striking.

The research that he has done to make the story believable is commendable. He even has his own Ainu and Russian language consultants. Each detail he adds in shows that every page is a product of hard work. He even features real buildings in Hokkaido and Otaru (I’ve also been to Otaru and it was nice to see it in the manga!). The information we learn from Noda’s usage of the Ainu culture, hunting practices, and military details – all of this, weaved in with an intricate, explosive plot, give us a series that feels…whole. Complete.

Kamuy also spreads word about the Ainu culture in a fun and entertaining way. I haven’t heard a lot about them in the series I’ve encountered – I’ve only heard of them through Rurouni Kenshin. Nothing since then. To see them in the spotlight is a breath of fresh air. Even the Ainu themselves feel the same way – apparently they told Noda that they didn’t want to be portrayed as discriminated anymore. They wanted strong Ainu characters, and boy, did Noda deliver.

NO-PARDON PLOTTING

Because of its seinen status, you can tell that Noda has no qualms about plotting and story structure. We’re given heavy-hitting story elements right off the bat: war vet undertakes a legendary treasure hunt to help the (stolen-by-his-friend) love of his life, requiring him to track down 24 of the most dangerous insane criminals to have ever walked Japan. It’s throwing punches right from the get-go. Kamuy doesn’t baby anyone (except for bear cubs). With its pacing, convoluted plot and bevy of interesting characters, it challenges the reader to not just enjoy, but to keep up. It’s unapologetic in everything that it does – character, story, and art.

CHARACTERS

Immortal War Vet, Morality Pet Minority Action Girl, Escape Sweet-tooth King, and so forth. They somehow fulfill stereotypes but at the same time, Noda manages to twist things to a whole new light. His milieu, too, aids in solidifying the characters he writes – the setting itself makes them unforgettable.

It is also in his cast that we see how unapologetic Noda is. Considering that Sugimoto is to track 24 of the most dangerous criminals in the country, Noda doesn’t shy away from showcasing every kind of evil that can exist within humans. We tackle lust, greed, wrath, and avarice with a dash more reality compared to the caricatures we often see in shounen manga. Those faint of heart and innocent countenance will have a hard time stomaching Noda’s cast as it unfolds. The more I read, the more I believe Noda probably has a subscription to the Crime Investigation channel (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). Truth be told, humans are very much capable of evil, and I’m not surprised that some of his villains are actually modeled after real-life criminals.

Notable characters:

IENAGA - a cross between Erszebet Bathory (a countess who was known to kill virgins and bathed in their blood to remain beautiful) and of H.H. Holmes, a real-life owner of an actual murder hotel in the US during the 19th century. Ienaga’s first dungeon appearance made me flashback to some of mangaka Kaori Yuki’s ornate gorefests such as Count Cain, Angel Sanctuary, and Ludwig Revolution. Noda felt no shame when he drew each and every one of Ienaga’s murderscapes.

HENMI KAZUO – this one really made me blink when I was reading it. Serial killer Henmi Kazuo is an exploration of the depths of human depravity. Imagine, being stimulated by gore and the act of clinging to life the same way his brother did when a bear ate him. Damn, writing that sentence made me realize Noda just straight up doesn’t baby his audience. This is the stuff Netflix series Mindhunter would kill to have. This also would really need some real guts (pardon the pun) to execute.

SHITON – he also made me stop in my tracks. Shiton, a full-on bestiality-practicing scientist, was something I’ve never read about in any other manga at all. I’ve read about murderers and criminals and incestuous personalities (Kaori Yuki and George RR Martin weren’t shy about it at all), but this character was just sick. He’s a special type of crazy (although to be perfectly honest I am sure that somewhere in the world some sick human is partaking in stuff like this), and for Noda to actually use him in his manga just takes courage. He just has the balls to make you think twice, but hey, when you’re in seinen territory, everything seems to be a free-for-all. And let’s be real frank here – there’s just another level of human debauchery in real life that most people won’t even be able to stomach hearing about.

TSURUMI – Tsurumi is the stuff of legend. He reminds me the most of Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, but with his insanity turned up into eleven. He also has shades of Leonardo’s character in Django Unchained, as well as other manic-type ‘villains’ that we’ve seen in other series. But his impulsiveness and flamboyant nature places him a cut above the rest. Noda also draws him so dynamically (seriously!) that whenever he appears, your eyes are just drawn to him.

Plus, I have to say that I’m really impressed with the level of real-world research that Noda uses in developing his characters. Tsurumi says that he has lost a part of his frontal lobe, which in turn affects his temper and his violent tendencies. This is actually true in real life, and has been seen in a high-profile murder case involving a famous football player in the United States. Because of the repetitive head injuries that the player received playing the sport, his own personality/temper had changed, and resulted him in killing his girlfriend in cold blood.

Of course we have the holy trinity of Sugimoto (classic lovable romantic badass war vet protagonist), Asirpa (butt-kicking girl-child) and Shiraishi (adorable slinky/comic relief), all gems in their own right. Noda has endeared them to us with the heartwarming dynamic between Sugimoto + Asirpa, plus Shiraishi’s antics. Character-wise, they seem to follow a specific trio formula that works in almost anything. Harry-Hermione-Ron, Gintoki-Kagura-Shinpachi, Naruto-Sakura-Sasuke. While his main character trio wins people over, his supporting cast can also shine bright on their own. Some great examples that come to mind are Ogata, Tanigaki, and Monkey-Scream Guy Otonoshin (even Tsukishima is memorable! He even has the Voldemort nose, doesn't he?).

Noda’s principle of mixing reality with caricature is also evident in his character designs. With every cast member we meet, it’s clear that Noda is far from being a sufferer of the six-faces-only syndrome. His designs do sometimes border on the impossible (Monkey-Scream guy’s eyebrows, really?), but it’s not a bad thing. If anything, it makes the visual experience of reading the comic even more worthwhile.

THE ART

Noda is a great manga artist. Let’s start with that.

I’ve been raving about his character designs for a few paragraphs now but it’s just really that good. I love his eye for composition and his impeccable framing for action and comedy. I’ve always thought that framing comics need special planning – especially action + comedy ones. You have to ensure that the first thing the reader sees in the next panel will make the action/joke understandable and clear. It takes great skill to decide what the reader sees and doesn’t see. Through Golden Kamuy’s 158 chapters, he makes use of this skill to make us laugh whenever Asirpa’s badgering them to make citatap, or when there’s a new animal part to eat, or when Tanigaki’s out showing nudes of himself to people. If the pages weren’t framed well, the jokes would’ve fallen flat. Let’s also not forget his adeptness in drawing facial expressions. This manga just does faces so well.

His fight scenes are also top-notch. You just know that Noda, as a mangaka, isn’t knocking about. The flow of action in every page is just downright superb. It also shows his mastery of human anatomy – and his courage when it comes to gore. His use of crisp blacks and whites, solid lineart, thick, expressive color give us pages that are fresh and clean...I’d be a fool to dismiss his technique, because his (and his studio’s, I guess?) skill just shines through every page.

He’s also not shy when it comes to details – which is admirable. After all, it takes some great dedication for someone to give his main character distinct facial scars that will require repeated drawings in almost every single page (and give his heroine a detailed headband). It makes me wonder just how he does it with a weekly schedule. His color pages look like they were done digitally, but I still have doubts whether or not he does his chapters by hand.

THE HEART

It took me just a few days to wolf down Kamuy. It was a romp right from the start – nail-biting, stomach-clutching, hair-raising. A truly entertaining piece, if you will. But if there’s one thing I’ve noticed with Kamuy, it’s that it somehow lacks heart.

Don’t get me wrong – it’s great! I love it. It’s superbly crafted, beautifully drawn, amazingly detailed. It’s one of the rare titles that I’m actually thinking of collecting. But it’s also a title that seems to drip technique. Like the author made it for the sake of drawing an intense, gripping title, but somehow solely for that purpose. It’s a career-conscious showcase of ability, a manufactured adventure in the truest sense. I couldn’t see the earnestness I found in Sorachi Hideaki’s Gintama, or the relatability of Nakahara Aya’s Dame na Watashi wo Koishite Kudasai. Full Metal Alchemist showed Arakawa Hiromu’s passion for muscled men, her interest in alchemy, and views on family, while Haruichi Furudate’s love for volleyball, sportsmanship and camaraderie is undeniable in Haikyuu!!. While I do like the backstory that Sugimoto is somehow based on his real-life war-vet grandfather, I find it a bit sad that it seems to lack that personal touch I’ve always liked seeing in other manga.

But it doesn’t mean that it’s not great. I will still recommend it to everyone I know. Awesome story, great art, refreshing comedy. By all means, read it! (Not sure about the anime, but I keep hearing reviews that we’re better off with the manga). Golden Kamuy is a title of both style and substance – whether it’s about the gore or the gold, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

She locked the screen of her phone and threw it on the stained mattress which had been in this room for god knows how long. Leaning her head against the wall; she pulled her knees up to her chest to wrap her arms around them. The window was closed but she could feel the cold air seeping through.

Yesterday had been the best day for her in a long time; only because of him. Yoongi had picked her up near the university campus to take her to Bugak Skyway, where they spent all afternoon walking around and talking. He truly was a blessing in disguise; appearing out of nowhere and taking her heart by storm. Often she wondered what he saw in her; a girl damaged beyond repair in cheap clothing with a low sense of pride that chipped away each night she was out on the street. Of course, she had noticed the ridiculously expensive watch dangling on his wrist, his car must be worth more than two years worth of rent for this run-down apartment and the brand-name clothing he wore…why would he want someone like her? But she never dared to ask him; never even dared to reveal her real life to him because she was sure it would scare him away.

She despised herself for lying to him; she wanted to be honest but telling him she fucked random guys just to pay her rent was a risk she wasn’t going to take. She tried to imagine the look on his face; how his eyes would widen in disbelief and she let out a quiet chuckle. He would never believe her; he probably thought she was just a normal girl trying to get through university with a part-time job, but in all reality, she was far from it.

Slowly but surely she was running out of excuses why she couldn’t hang out with Yoongi whenever he was free. It was hard for her to keep up with her lies; on most days she told him she had classes to attend or work in the evening and even yesterday she had rushed to campus just so he wouldn’t get suspicious and catch on to her lies. They weren’t little white lies that he could overlook or simply forgive her.

Sometimes she missed going to university and learning something new every day but how could she have stayed in that place after what her professor did to her? She tried not to think about it too much, repressing it was easier than actually facing it. But not this time; involuntarily the memories flooded her mind.

“Please hand in the assignment on Monday.” Her professor announced, rolling up the sleeves of his button-up shirt. It was summer and unbearably hot in the classroom so everyone hurried to leave to finally enjoy the weekend.

“Y/n, can you come here for a minute.” She flinched at the sound of her name but made her way over to his desk, while he wiped the board clean of his notes.

“I’m sure you know what this is about…” He trailed off, sitting down on the edge of the wooden table, eyeing her up and down.

“Not really, Sir.” She adjusted her bag on her shoulder, hugging her notebook tighter to her chest. “Well then, I went through all your assignments again and at the beginning of the semester you were excellent but your grades have progressively been getting worse and I honestly don’t know if I can let you pass the class…”

She tried to swallow the lump in her throat. He was right; she had prioritized making friends and going out for drinks with them or working on her personal music instead of assignments.

“I’m sorry, I had some family stuff to deal with…but would it be possible for me to hand in something, anything to get my grade up? Please?” She couldn’t afford to retake this class, her parents would be so mad if she failed.

He stood up and moved in closer. “I know you have a lot on your plate…” His fingers brushed her hair from her face.

“But if you’re willing to do some extra work then I’m sure we can work something out.”

She nodded and bit the inside of her cheek as his hand slowing crept down her back, stopping right above her butt.

“Is that a yes y/n?” She nodded again, knowing she wouldn’t be able to make a sound. “Good…” His body was so close to her, she could smell his aftershave and feel his breath on her cheek. In a low raspy tone, he whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. “You don’t want to disappoint your parents, do you?”

Both of his hands squeezed her ass before disappearing under her skirt. “Your parents worked hard to pay for this school, so you better do anything in your power to make them happy…” She felt her body freeze up; holding her breath as one of his hands grabbed her thigh to spread her legs a little more. Two of his fingers ghosted over the thin fabric between her legs. “Don’t be shy y/n. You know, I don’t offer this kind of credit to just anyone. You’re special to me..” His moist breath was fanning against her ear.

Everything that followed was just a blur; like a barrier, her mind had set up to protect her. She couldn’t remember how she got the courage to push him away before anything worse could happen or how her legs were able to run as fast as they did.

“YOU’RE NOT A REAL MUSICIAN IF YOU’RE NOT WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES.”

The words he had yelled at her as she ran down the corridor, still echoed in her head. Maybe she wasn’t a real musician; all she knew was she wouldn’t have been able to live with herself if she had let him do this to her.

That was the last time she had set foot in this place; she couldn’t bring herself to go back and see him every day until she graduated. Giving up the only thing she had really wanted in life was the hardest thing she had ever done; even harder than selling her body - but at least this was her choice and no one would take that away from her.

The happy ding of her phone snapped her out of her thoughts.

Takashi; a Japanese businessman and one of her regulars when he was in Seoul on business once or twice a month. ’Pretty girls need pretty things.’ He had said to her when he gave her the Louis Vuitton bag he had bought for her in Tokyo.

So she was sure it would pay off to cancel her plans with Yoongi for him. Still owing two months worth of rent and coming up short this month too; only left her with this option. He would pay her a substantial amount for her services and help him forget about his boring wife back home.

With a deep sigh, Yoongi set his phone down on the table. He massaged his temples with his fingers and focused back on the screen of his laptop. Work was his main priority too, so he understood perfectly why she couldn’t drop everything for him. Yet he caught himself wanting to do just that.

She had just walked right into his heart; it happened so naturally over the past three weeks that he didn’t even notice at first how much he texted her and neglected the songs he had planned to finish for the new album. But he was good at keeping it to himself and taking things slow. Holding her hand sometimes when he could be sure no one would see it, or her occasionally giving his cheek a small peck when they said goodnight.

There was a sinking feeling in his chest; he knew they were both keeping things from each other; keeping the happy mask on that only revealed their good sides. But he wanted so badly to take it off and be just himself with her.

He leaned back in his chair and stretched out his legs; his stomach was grumbling loudly. It happened a lot, he forgot to eat when he was so consumed with work. He grabbed his jacket from the couch, roaming the halls hoping to find one of the boys.

When he finally found the two youngest lounging on a couch, lazily scrolling on their phones.

“Do you wanna go and grab something to eat?” But Taehyung shook his head.

“No I’m waiting for Jimin to finish his vocal lesson, we want to order food and then play some games.”

Jungkook lifted his head. “Lamb skewers?” Yoongi nodded his head yes and wiggled his eyebrows. “You paying, hyung?”

“Fine, my treat.” He chuckled and suddenly the maknae had a lot more energy than before. Eagerly jumping to his feet and following him down the hall. “Next time, you’ll pay.”

“Yeah, of course, hyung!” He walked behind Yoongi, his arms stretched out, hands resting on the older one's shoulders guiding him to the parking garage.

They were sat in a small, cozy restaurant and he was on meat grilling duty, like always. Jungkook was already snacking on a few of the side dishes while talking about the new dance routine he had been working on with Hoseok all afternoon.

Usually, he thought it was rude to have his phone out but he was hoping for text from her; it almost 9 pm and he was sure she would send him a text every once in a while like she always did.

“It was really difficult! It took me about an hour to get that move perfect. I mean, Hobi said it was okay if it wasn’t perfect just yet but I really wanted to get it right. He worked hard on that choreography and it was really precise and intricate. But I got it in the end; you really need to come watch it tomorrow.” Yoongi wasn’t paying full attention to the boy sitting across the table from him. He just nodded his head in a monotone rhythm, indicating he was listening but his eyes had spotted her across the street. She was leaving a restaurant accompanied by a man in his thirties, who was wearing an expensive looking suit.

At first, he hadn’t been entirely sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him but the way she laughed and walked reassured him. She linked arms with the man and walked to the traffic light to cross the street. She was wearing a short black dress and a dusty rose colored winter coat draped over her shoulders. Why didn’t the man insist on her buttoning it up? Probably to get the occasional glimpse of her chest. He could feel his grip on his glass tighten. She had been lying to him; this didn’t look like work at all. Why did he even give a fuck that she was seeing another man? She wasn’t his girlfriend.

They quickly crossed the street and came walking towards the restaurant. She was laughing at every word that left the strange man’s mouth and gently patted his shoulder when they stopped in front of a red sports car parked on the side of the road.

“Hyung, are you listening to me? Hey, what are you looking at?” Jungkook was worried; he had never seen his brother like that. Eyes dark, jaw clenched and his knuckles turning white from gripping the cup so hard, he was afraid the older one might break it.

Yoongi’s stomach was twisted in knots as she turned to face the man and he immediately put his hands on her hips underneath the coat, making the fabric bunch up a little, revealing even more of her legs. She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his cheek. An unfamiliar feeling of anger and jealousy started stirring up in the pit of his stomach.

The man unlocked the car and opened the door for her. As she climbed into the car, the man’s hand casually disappeared under her coat. Yoongi’s eyes widened, knowing he was grabbing her ass so shamelessly in public. He slammed his glass down on the table, pushed his chair back as he jumped up.

His heart hammered in his chest; hands shaking with anger as he headed for the door; willing to tear that man apart with his bare hands.

Twenty things that make me happy

So I saw @veronicasanders do this earlier, and @rosetlntstheworld officially tagged me (in the nicest of ways, thank you sweetheart!). It’s my first day off in five days, I’ve been wearing the same pants and tank top for the fourth day in a row (and sleeping in them, because I’m that kind of person), and I’m what’s best described as “a sad mess” right now, so I thought this might be a good thing to do. Ready? Okay.

1. My dogs I have two beagles and they are my children. I love them, even though they can be horrible assholes when they are awake. They’re cute and they love me.

2. My friends I don’t have very many of them, but the ones I have, I cherish so much. Between The Salt Crew ( @yorkiepug, @inevitably-johnlocked, @havetardiswilltimetravel), my personal Hell Buddy @astudyinsnoggy, the new friends I’ve made like @veronicasanders who pretty much shares a brain with me, I think, and my real life partner in crime, “would lie if she thought I was making skin suits” @dwell-ondreams who I do not see enough of since I’ve switched jobs but hopefully she knows it’s nothing against her, I’m just a shit friend - y’all are fantastic. Special shout out to my roommate, even though we occasionally try to scratch each other’s eyes out.

3. Jim Henson Movies like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth probably top my list of “Movies Bree has watched The Most in her Lifetime”. I will forever be a huge fan of The Muppets, and if I hadn’t been such a negative person in much of my early life, I would have probably tried to pursue a more serious approach to puppet-making that I never attempted. I love his work so much and his movies are something that I always go back to whenever i’m feeling down.

4. The Great Mouse Detective I have talked so much about how much I love this movie. So very very much. From one of my earliest introductions to Sherlock Holmes, to just being one of the greatest underrated animated films, I have such strong feelings over it. I have dissected scenes from it, I would willingly get it tattooed on my body, and my Basil costume is by far one of my favorite things I’ve ever made. This movie means so much.

5. My Town I actually like where I live. I would like it more if I didn’t have to deal with snow every winter, but I do like it. I wish I would take more advantage of it sometimes. But it’s still a great place to live.

6. Drawing I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. It’s part of “I like making shit”. Whenever I’ve had a harsh time, it’s nice to be able to pull out my tablet and just sketch something. It might not even make sense, it’s just a good feeling.

7. Writing I’m slow as fuck sometimes, but I still love it. The effort of world building and placing my thoughts on paper to create something cohesive is something that I think just makes me content with myself.

8. Making Costumes Another “I like making shit” hobby, and something that I’ve taken more seriously in the past year. I always have a mental breakdown while doing it, but once I’ve recovered and I can get myself through it - it ends up being worth it in the end. *telling that to myself right now as I struggle with the Bianca costume*

9. Joltolock/Polyshipping I’m combining these two. I love me an OT3, and Joltolock is still, by far, my absolute favorite. I don’t write it like I use to anymore, but I still love my boys. Exploring their relationship just inspires me and I long for the day that healthy polyamorous relationships become more represented. Who knows? Maybe I’ll end up helping the cause at some point.

10. Bianca del Rio So, I’m not going to bore you guys with a retelling of my reintroduction to Rupaul’s Drag Race after not watching it for six years. We don’t need that kind of thing. Calling her an inspiration would be a bit much, but she made me laugh when I really really needed to, and temporarily became an unsual good luck charm if you want to be really superstitious. Anyway, in this house - I stan an idiot.

11. My Family I don’t see them very often, because of distance, and they usually end up stressing me the fuck out whenever I do see them but I still love them and when we have good times, they are wonderful.

12. Pride 2018 This is going to be my very first Pride! Every year, since I moved to Columbus, I was either too shy, working, or out of town for Pride. We were going to go last year but I ended up having to rush back to my hometown due to a family emergency. This year is going to be the first, I’m going to get this fucking costume done (god dammit), and I’m going to meet Courtney, Willam, Alaska, and Adore. *shakes tiny fist*

13. Superman I grew up in a very nerdy household, and while I was not always the hugest fan of Superman in my younger days, after years of exposure, he became my favorite superhero. He is such a wonderful character, with so much potential, and I will weep tears of joy when the grasp of toxic masculinity is finally stripped away from him completely.

14. Learning Stuff I just like to learn stuff. Learning stuff keeps me busy and happy. I LIKE LEARNING STUFF! Whether it be a craft, a hobby, or a healthier way of thinking - I want to learn it.

15. Martin Freeman Do I really have to explain this? I feel like I shouldn’t have to ever explain this. If you think I have to explain this, then you’re dead to me.

16. Tacos I LOVE TACOS! How can you not love tacos? My roommate was trying to get me to get out of bed last week (I was awake, I just wasn’t, you know... standing) and she was like “Hey, why don’t we go to (insert local amazing taco place)?” and I SWEAR I NEVER BECAME A FUNCTIONAL HUMAN BEING FASTER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Tacos, man. Tacos.

17. Legally Blonde: The Musical So, I had actually seen the musical before I ever saw the movie, and while it is not my absolute favorite (That’s probably Pippin, if you want to keep track), it is definitely in my top five. And much like Jim Henson movies, and The Great Mouse Detective, I will bring this bitch up - soundtrack or performance recording, whatever - whenever I need a big pick me up. It’s so wonderful.

18. Lily Bear aka My Childhood Teddy Bear So Lily is a teddy bear my grandmother gave to me when I was around six years old. And by gave, I mean she showed me her, I took her, and she never got her back (I ended up giving her another teddy bear in return later when I was about 10). All of her original clothes are gone, she wears an old dress from when I was a toddler (I was a very small child), but she has stayed with me throughout twenty-six years and has survived three moves.

19. True Crime I don’t know if this is necessarily something that “makes me happy”, so much as it’s something that I’m just infinitely fascinated by and consume a lot of information about. But, I figured it deserved to be on this list none the less.

20. Shinya Shinya is a drummer from a Japanese metal band called Dir en grey. I do not talk about him as often as I once did, back when I was in high school and college, but he still makes me happy. It was through him that I discovered my love for cosplay, I started going to conventions, and I found how much I love going to concerts. He’s a beautiful and talented dork and he will forever hold a very special place in my heart.

Another Turning Point ASTRO and AROHA Will Achieve Together

ASTRO, who gifted us all of the early summer’s refreshingness with 'BABY', are as energetic as their title hints.

ASTRO’s interview with topstarnews took place on the 28th at a cafe located in Dogok-ro, Gangnam-gu.

ASTRO is one amongst the boy groups who are scarily rising and consists of Cha Eunwoo, Moonbin, MJ, JinJin, Rocky and Yoon Sanha. They are also a group who have solidified their status as refreshing-dols through their recent 'BABY' promotions.

On this day, ASTRO let us in on their feelings regarding their recent promotions.

ASTRO’s leader, JinJin, candidly relayed his feelings, "It was a promotion cycle where I’ve felt grateful many times. From being nominated no.1 on 'Music Bank' to holding our concert, I think it’s been a period were we’ve grown a bit. With this promotion as a foundation, we’ve become determined to show a more polished side to ourselves for the next album. It was a really fun promotion cycle."

I then asked them how they felt about being nominated no.1 on 'Music Bank' and they replied, "At first, it was sort of a feeling that made us wonder whether it was really true. They were next to us holding a bouquet and even gave all of mics so it started to slowly hit us that we were a no.1 nominees. We had our hopes and we thought there’s probably going to be tears if we win no.1 but alas, we didn’t win it. Truthfully, it was a shame," revealing their inner feelings at that moment.

ASTRO also briefly talked about their solo concert which they wrapped up a few days ago.

They said, "We were having our promotions so we didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for the concert. But still, we had an aim to line up at least this concert with only our songs so we prepared really diligently."

They continued, "There were really a lot of difficult moments but the reactions were good so that was a relief. Also, our fans got an official lightstick this time round and they were waving it around, illuminating the whole stadium with purple light so we felt really proud and grateful," and smiled brightly.

Everyone looked shy as soon as the question about the shirtless incident that happened during their concert was broached. ASTRO, who were smiling as though feeling abashed and who seemed hesitant, softly opened up.

At the question about their main exercise routine, they answered, "We received training even before debuting. We didn’t get any more after that but we regularly exercised together. Also dancing has some sort of difficulty to it so practising naturally become a form of exercise."

They said, "The cheers from fans were super loud when we took off our tops at the concert. We actually planned to have only two members reveal their abs but I guess Eunwoo, who was by the sidelines, got excited and refreshingly revealed his too. I think we were able to end the concert on a more fun note since it was a situation that no one had expected. It was originally a rule that only one member can go topless with every concert," and laughed playfully.

ASTRO also briefly talked about their Japan tour.

They said, "We’re working hard on our Japanese for our Japan tour. Eunwoo and I (Moonbin) have been taking classes and learning since before. The other members are also earnestly studying so that they can introduce themselves and do their greetings. I think it’ll be nice if we work harder and reach a level (of fluency) where we can communicate with our Japanese fans. I want to create a concert where we can enjoy ourselves together and communicate," declaring their unsparing affection for their Japanese fans.

When asked about sleeping habits, JinJin said as he jokingly laughed, "Eunwoo and Sanha’s sleeping habits are pretty severe. Eunwoo talks to himself a lot as he sleeps. He memorises English words and there was once where he went, "Hello," "Thank you," and laughed. He said it so clearly that I thought he was practicing his greetings."

He then continued to wittily disclose the other members’ sleeping habits, "There are a lot of instances where Sanha sings. He also sleeps on his front and the position he’s in is really weird. I can’t explain it through words but it’s seriously weird. So it made me wonder if I’d grow taller is I slept like that."

If you talk about ASTRO, you cannot leave out the title 'refreshing-dols'. Besides their refreshing charms which remind you of sports drinks, I asked if they were greedy to show their other charms and there was a moment of deliberation.

But JinJin soon made the first move to talk. He said, "I want to try a sexy concept once. Even if it’s not right now, later on when the members who are minors turn into adults and we’ve built experience, I think we’ll be able to digest that kind of concept."

Moonbin continued, "We showed how much diverse we are through the concert. That applies to our performances too. We also used our stage outfits to show the sides of us you couldn’t see during our broadcast promotions and witnessing that, the fans called it 'refreshing-sexy'. So I want to try a concept where we still keep to our refreshingness but at the same time show our sexiness."

ASTRO also pointed out ’conversation’ as a method of strengthening teamwork.

JinJin said, "We talk a lot amongst ourselves. It’s something like a family meeting, we’d gather when there’s trouble or when we conclude a promotion cycle and share what we have to say. We’d talk about the things we felt as we promoted or the dissatisfactions we’ve accumulated. If we voice out the things we’re unsatisfied with then we’ll acknowledge where we should and try to iron things out together."

He continued, "It’s a little embarrassing to do between guys but the results after are good so we try to hold them every now and then. For our family meetings, it’s mainly someone bringing up a certain topic and then the members would all together give our opinions regarding it," showing their sturdy teamwork you could feel even through just his words.

ASTRO, who have now reached their 2nd year since debut, is a group that has a lot more to run for as compared to how far they have ran. They have ran without rest and have to a certain extent gotten the ASTRO name out there so I asked them if the opportunity comes they get to let each of their own names be known, then what is it they wanted to do. ASTRO purposefully divulged their answers.

Yoon Sanha went first, "If I get to have an individual schedule, I want to DJ for a radio. I’m still a minor so it’s a pity I can’t do a late night show but if the opportunity perhaps presents itself then I want to DJ for a 7-8 time slot where you can eat as you tune in. It’s nice seeing DJs reading stories and communicating with their listeners," revealing his greed for DJ-ing.

JinJin then proclaimed his passion for song composition, "We’ve gotten some free time now that the concert has ended so Rocky and I have started to learn song composition on a professional level. My goal is for us to gradually pick things up and composing for ASTRO’s b-sides. I think it’ll be nice if we could produce for own album after improving some more."

Rocky mentioned, "I learnt acting when I was a trainee. Eunwoo looked like he learnt a lot appearing on 'The Best Hit' and most importantly, it looked fun. That’s why I also want to challenge myself at acting if the opportunity arises. It there’s a character that fits my current age then I want to give it a shot."

Moonbin went on to express his affection for acting. He said, "I also want to try acting if given the opportunity. A series about schools would be good, I’m not picky about the genre. And I like using my body so if I have the chance to go on programs like 'Law of the Jungle' or 'Battle Trip' where you eat as you tour around, then I’d really like to go on them."

MJ mentioned, "I want to challenge musicals. It’s so charming how they can express freedom on stage and above all, I want to feel how it’s like being immersed into my character, acting him out and singing (my lines)."

Lastly, Cha Eunwoo conveyed, "I realised the charm of acting having appeared in various productions. It’s so fun and I’ve developed an interest so I want to greet the public once more through another production. Historical dramas, a villainous character, they’re both good. A school drama would be good too since I’m 21 years old now."

He continued, "I’m an MC for a music broadcast so I want to build on my experiences even more and later on become a singer like Super Junior’s Leeteuk sunbae-nim who’s got a good flow to his emceeing," disclosing his passion for MC-ing.

ASTRO also let us in on their own secret methods when asked if they each have a way to relieve their stress.

Moonbin stepped up first, "I’m the sort to exercise. I’ll use the machines at gyms to work out and I also like running. I mainly prefer to sweat everything out. I’ll read whenever I can’t exercise. I look like I don’t read but I enjoy it," and laughed cheekily.

MJ then said, "I’m the sort to relieve my stress through eating. There’s nothing as happy as when I’m eating. I like meat and everything else but I like seafood the best amongst all that," his eyes were shining.

He continued, "If it happens that it’s too late and I can’t eat then I just sleep. I go to dreamland and rid of the stress. Doesn’t the anguish you experience yesterday night disappear when you wake up?"

Eunwoo replied, "I go off to watch a movie alone. I’m the sort to really enjoy movies by myself. Besides that, I’ve recently developed a new hobby where I take a topic and write poems or phrases. I tend to write them down as they come to mind so when I do that, my heart grows calmer and I feel comforted," revealing his sentimental charms.

As expected of the youngest, Sanha showed off his cuteness, "I usually relieve my stress through gaming." He brightly laughed as he added on, "There are times when I’d relieve my stress though spicy food. If I eat things like that then the stress I eat goes right down."

Rocky said, "I don’t have any interest in anything else besides in what I do. So I’d turn on loud music and I’ll dance until I fall to the ground or I’ll write raps about the things that gave me stress. If I record and listen to the raps I’ve written then I’ll feel lighter that I’ve at least vented out, even if it’s just by words."

JinJin finished it off, "I listen to music of various genres but if I’ve found songs that I like then my stress gets relieved a lot whenever I listen to them. My stress naturally goes away as I listen to the music I enjoy and think about how such a song was produced."

He continued, "My other method of relieving stress is by taking pictures. I’ll snap shots of this and that and show them to my fans, my stress is alleviated looking at their reactions," revealing his affection for his fans.

To ASTRO who have ran without rest in the fierce idol industry, the meaning their first solo concert held must have been special. I guess maybe that is why they eventually shed tears at the end of the it. What thoughts were running through their minds at that moment?

JinJin spoke up first, "Even before debut and even during our promotions, I’ve talked about wanting to fill a really huge concert venue with only our fans. So when we came to holding to our own, I was really just filled with so much emotions. It felt like I’ve achieved something as a leader and above all, I was extremely grateful to our fans. I could feel their sincerity so I unknowingly ended up crying. I was really thankful. And I especially want to thank the members who who went through everything with me."

Rocky then expressed his feelings clear-cut, "I didn’t spill any tears. I just felt happy we were holding a concert but the hyungs were next to me crying so I also felt emotional with them. I think I saved my tears because I wanted to let them all out when we’ve worked a little harder and really hit it big in the future. So holding the concert has made me realise that I need to work even harder."

Moonbin conveyed his honest feelings from that moment, "It was really hard preparing for the concert. We were short on time and there were a lot of new stages we had to show so it was hard and I really felt like dying but I pulled through somehow. It was so exhausting on us but I didn’t think about any of that going on stage. And the reason why I cried is… because Eunwoo cried so I ended up crying together with him. I actually didn’t plan on crying but I really connected with the words Eunwoo said and my apologetic heart got meshed with a bunch of other feelings so I ended up crying."

MJ then continued, "I always feel overwhelmed hearing the fans cheer for us. I don’t know why I’m like that but whenever I hear the yells and cheers from fans, my heart surges. I was so happy being with our fans during the concert and I was really thankful that they filled up the place and spent time with us. A lot of thoughts came to me as well. So I think that’s why I cried."

Cha Eunwoo carefully told us of the emotions he felt at that moment, "It’s only been a year since we’ve debuted so I wondered if we were really capable of holding a concert. It’s not as though we can just pull one off because we say we want to hold one. There needs to be people who want to come see us to make it possible and really so many attended. Also, we were talking but they played a gentle BGM so the things that I’ve accomplished up till now, the things I’ve suffered through, they flashed in front me and I was overcome with a mix of complicated emotions. I wanted to tell my members and our fans how grateful I was to them and that I would repay them but all the feelings I couldn’t express in words were put across in the form of my tears.

Sanha showed his strong determination, "When we relayed the news that we would be holding a concert, the fans were really looking forward to it. Maybe it’s because we practiced hard to fulfil those expectations but as soon as the concert ended, feelings of relief swept over me first. We worried a ton but since we ended safely, our hearts felt at ease. I really liked holding the concert. Until the day we can hold one at an even bigger venue, we’ll continue to work harder than ever."

Lastly, ASTRO talked about their future plans and the things they wanted to tell their fans.

ASTRO said, "We concluded both our promotions and the concert on a safe note so that was a relief. Through them we’ve become more ambitious and steadfast that we should work even harder. We have our Japan concerts right ahead of us but we want to quickly promote again once we’ve sat through those and we hope we can meet fans at an even bigger concert venue."

They continued, "If our fans didn’t come, we couldn’t have held our concert and we probably would have felt sluggish going through promotions. Thank you for always showing us your support and being by our sides. We’ll work even harder so that whenever you say, "I like ASTRO," you’ll hear the words, "Ah, they’re real good." Thank you so much," honestly voicing their affections for their fans.

I think that through their recent promotions, ASTRO were able to feel that the boyishness befitting of their ages has matured a notch.

ASTRO, who have walked a step up further every time with their fans and reached where they are now, are preparing for yet another turning point. ASTRO, who are overflowing with passion, and AROHA (ASTRO’s name for their fans), who silently have their backs, I think the story they will write for themselves together starts now.

On the other hand, ASTRO are in the midst of preparations for their Japan tour.

Zayn - Once very good friends and briefly a couple before Zayn quit 1D and kind of ghosted her. Now he’s trying to come back in her life, constantly calling and tweeting her... since she’s nice she answers but tries to rush him off the phone and his name n her phone is ‘Annoying -Don’t answer.’

Bam Bam of GOT7 - BamBam’s obvious crush on the Siren Maknae’s are no secret but unlike Adi he is actually a good friend with Makayla. Actually introduced by JYP, Bam Bam often helps Makayla perfect her dances and takes her to eat. He even gifts her with things from Thailand when he visits and she brings him gifts from when she visits home which made a few people think they are a couple especially since both are touchy people. She often sneaks into GOT7′s rehearsals and teases that she can rap better then him which prompts the rest of the boys to tease Bam Bam that shes going to replace him.

Youngjae Got7 - While her and Bam Bam’s relationship is seen as public and out here. Youngjae and Makayla is more private. She is always trying to make sure Youngjae is okay, safe and happy. It breaks her heart whenever she sees him sad originally he was very shy around her and found her outgoing attitude a little annoying but he just now treats her like a little sister and is extremely protective and soft around her. However Makayla tries to act like a protector of him and both often comfort each other when under criticism. While fans rarely see them together but they do talk nearly every day.

Woojin in turn took up drawing which Makayla teaches him and he even developed a crush on her since they are often exchanging texts. He lends her his clothing to which fans are starting to catch onto.
