some flowers for u when u need them <3
You told me to get back here and fix it. So here is a small scene from a sequel to last week's prompt for "Did it ever occur to you that maybe we don’t want to see you get hurt?”
Jamie shifted to block his path.
“Look, don't worry about me and the grouchy dick, alright? I just wanted to say sorry for before. At the hospital.” The distance on Sam's face softened into something Jamie could reach. Yet all his teammate said was, “That isn't necessary.” “No, see, 'cause it is. I mean, I don’t really remember what I did to set you off. Mostly I just remember some yelling. But if you can remind me what it was, I want to apologise for it proper- take accountability and make amends and all that, you know?” Because before he could apologise, he needed to know what he'd done. Knowing what you were apologising for was a big part of taking accountability, Jamie knew that now. The part where he'd gone and gotten his head rattled by a midfielder with anger issues didn’t excuse his actions, and it didn't make it any less his fault. Whatever he’d done to drive Sam — Sam — to yell at him, it couldn’t’ve been good. Still, he didn’t know what he could’ve done that was so bad that just the mention of it had Sam’s face turning spoiled sick. With a hand pressed to his chest, the lad looked seconds away from fainting, the grip on his water bottle so tight it might burst at any moment. Before Jamie could ask how high a debt he’d be paying off for the rest of his life, Sam shook his head and said, “No. Jamie, no. No, that is not-“ Whatever it wasn’t apparently wasn’t worth mentioning, because Sam chewed through the distance between them in two large steps. His body barely had a chance to startle backwards before Sam had him in his grasp.
He cradled Jamie against his chest. Lean, capable arms wrapped tightly around his shoulder and lower back, avoiding the sore spots the doctors had pointed out like they were real injuries instead of short term inconveniences. Sam breathed in deeply, a long inhale followed by a welcomed exhale, and Jamie found his own breathing struggling to match the pace. He let his head drop onto Sam's shoulder; since he couldn’t have painkillers around the house right now, the headache was killing him. “I worry sometimes that we are speaking two languages,” Sam admitted quietly against his ear. “That if I am not careful, I will accidentally do something to harm you. “Nah,” Jamie argued. “I’m tough. Not much you could do to hurt me.” Sam hummed, a rumbly little noise that rattled into Jamie’s chest, clearing away the cobwebs. “Let me cook for you. Come over to my place tonight.”
Some things were just too good to last.
“Can’t." Jamie said, starting to pull away even though regret tugged between his ribs. “Roy said we could start training again, and I've got stuff I need to get ready. 'Sides, I’m not supposed to -“
Sam held him fast.
"Jamie, please," Sam begged. "Training can wait one more day. In the meantime, I would like to cook for my friend. Please. Come over. Let us fix things. He should say no. He had responsibilities, things he'd committed to that should feel more important than jumping at the chance to skive off and play tea party with his friends. But he was so so tired, and any excuse not to spend another minute at home was a fucking life raft, and Sam-
Sam looked so bloody hopeful. “Yeah, alright," Jamie agreed, allowing the life raft to drift him a little further offshore. "D’you want me to bring anything?” Sam squeezed his shoulders. “Thank you. And no, that isn't necessary. Do not worry- I will stick to your nutrition plan. Only if Coach asks, we will tell him that all the food was fried.” Jamie grinned. It didn't even feel like a chore this time. "Sound."

★ lovely ; james potter.

Tumblr media
your head nuzzles into james' neck, inhaling greedily. "you smell good..." you sigh dreamily, nails raking the tiny curls at the base of his neck.
"yeah? i took a shower earlier... used that lavender soap you like," he hums while adjusting at the duvet. he huffs softly, unsure whether the cold touch of the wall that digs into his side annoys him more or the small amount of bedding left.
he tugs at the thick blanket as if attempting to get comfortable but you choose to not think much of it. in your mind, he fancies your cuddles, your affection, like he does every day.
after few seconds of finagling and a growing frown of frustration, "can you back up just a little bit? you've left me no space and this window sill is just stabbing my side like mad..." he groans.
you pout slightly, cheeks flushing a soft hue that closely resembles one of embarrassment. "sorry," you reply softly, body rolling over before scooting towards the opposite end of the bed.
"oh, love..." he makes an awfully sweet crooning sound, lips matching your bitty frown as you hug the bunched up duvet in your arms as if wired to cuddle something, to cuddle james.
james sighs, inching closer till your back meets his front. toned arms wrap around your midriff in attempt to apologize further.
"'m sorry, i didn't mean to be all over you." you speak understandingly, barely there and james feels his heart crack into trillions of pieces.
because here you are, being his undoubtedly sweet girl, showering him in your love that it makes his own affection cower next to yours.
"it's not your fault, baby. i dunno' why i spoke that way, 'm sorry." he speak weakly, as if barely noticing his original tone of voice.
you hum, "you seemed like you had a rough day... cuddles always seem to do the trick, but i guess today's different and that's okay." your voice is nothing but a squeak, soft and meek in a way that makes james believe that you'd rather not upset him again.
he's quick to prove otherwise as he showers your nape and cheek with the sweetest of kisses, soft lips against your supple skin.
"i'm not mad, my beautiful girl. you're so kind, always caring for others, thank you for the cuddles!" he lays it on thick, tone drenched in the finest of honey from the most richest of hives.
you giggle as his kisses grow tenfold, thicker fingers tickling at your waist. "jamie!" you laugh, swatting at his wrists with no real defense, more or less for show.
laughter and tickles turn to soft grazes and a love-sick gaze that makes you melt into the sheets like putty.
"why're you looking at me like that?" you whisper, thumb grazing his hairline absentmindedly.
"'cause you're lovely," he whispers back.
"you're lovely," you quip back with ease.
"nuh-uh, sweet girl. you're definitely loveliest." he coos.

🔞Locked In | ArthurTV
Tumblr media
Based on ArthurTV in Locked In S2 on Footaslyum! Summary: Y/n is set the challenge to ignore Arthur for a full day. Too bad that when Arthur realises this, he does everything to try and make you acknowledge him again... Wordcount: 7.3k aka LONG
--------------------------
"Y/n to the storeroom please"
"Hey sugarlips!" You plopped yourself into the leather seat and smiled at the camera and tripod in front of you.
The Locked In Footaslyum reality show had been hard, that was for sure.
Surprisingly though, one week away from your phone wasn't what had you all that worked up. No, instead it was ArthurTV. He'd been ever so nice at first, when he'd popped up in your Instagram DM's with a "Hi! Saw you're going on Locked In asw :)". And from there you spent your last few days with your phone only messaging Arthur. You woke up? You checked your phone to reply to Arthur. Midday? You had your phone on vibrate to alert you for when he replied. Night-time? The two of you were facetiming in your beds, giggling and both secretly ecstatic you'd be spending two weeks alongside one another.
Then when you entered into the house, Arthur was first to spot you across the kitchen island, and ran over to wrap you in a hug. The other housemates thought it was just initial, friendly banter. But you were weak in the knees just hugging him. And anyways, soon enough the housemates started guessing at least one of you had a crush on the other.
Afterall, Arthur seemed to always be at your side. If you and Steph were doing your makeup, best believe Arthur was sat at the other spot on the makeup table just waiting there and listening. When Arthur was trying to get better at football with Jamie and Jokeman, you were sat in your puffer jacket on the outdoor sofa watching and occasionally passing the ball back to them. And whenever one of you had to go to the storeroom, best believe the other was piggy-backing them there.
"Y/n, you and Arthur have been exceedingly close."
"Is it that obvious?" You questioned with a little giggle. "Hey, we might be close but nothing could get between you and I, Sugarlips, don't you worry."
"I know." She bluntly responded, drawing a laugh from you. "Do you like Arthur?"
"I like everyone in the house, Sugarlips."
"You know what I mean."
You laughed as you could only imagine her rolling her eyes. "Only if he likes me as well I suppose."
"Interesting." Came the enigmatic voice's reply. "We have a challenge for you, Y/n."
"Tell all, Sugartits."
"Please just Sugarlips." She stopped you, making you snort. At least your Scottish mate would be happy you tried. "Your challenge is to ignore Arthur for the whole of today for three points."
"ALL OF TODAY!" You exclaimed with a gasp.
"That's right."
"What, so no doing anything with him."
"You must treat him like he is not there at all."
"Bloody hell that's a whole ask and a half."
"Do you accept your challenge, Y/n?"
"Gah... I... How many points did you say it was?"
"3 points."
"Fuck it, let's do it."
Arthur was already there waiting for you when you exited the store room. He wore one of those fitted white tees- the type that clung to his biceps and broadened his chest, hanging looser around his waist and giving him such a sexy look along with his black cargos, it was a task and a half just ignoring him and walking past him there. You could almost imagine the look of shock on his face as you passed him, pretending you hadn't noticed him and walking up the stairs- flashing one of the recording cameras a you-did-this look before continuing out of the corridor just as you heard Arthur call "Wait for me then, Y/n!" meaning that as soon as you turned the corner, you sprinted across to the bathroom, locking the door behind you to give yourself a moment to recollect your thoughts without Arthur on your back.
Listening closely, you could hear Arthur padding slowly, pausing at some point- before padding up the stairs and into the bedrooms. You allowed yourself to press your back to the door, leaning your head back and squeezing your eyes shut, groaning and wondering how the hell you were meant to do this challenge.
"Y/nnnn..." It wasn't even midday and you were sat across from Anisa and Anastasia doing your makeup, when you heard Arthur's voice looming from down the corridor. Anisa and Anastasia giggled, giving you a look as they normally did when Arthur came looking for you, though they were surprised to see that instead of having your usual big grin on your face, you just did your mascara as though you hadn't heard a thing.
"There you are, feel like I haven't seen you at all today." You refrained from turning around and looking at the oh-so handsome face of Arthur behind you, printing some dewey blush onto the back of your hand instead.
A tension was raised upon the little makeup table as Arthur's words were met with a blank expression and non-existent response.
"Have I put too much blush on?" You broke the silence, looking up from the mirror to the girls in front of you, who stared back with open jaws and looks of confusion. Anisa was the first to close her jaw and snap herself out of it, shaking her head before responding.
"It's more than your usual but it suits you, I like it."
"Let me have a look-" Arthur was persistent in trying to get your attention, and when met with no response as you did your best to ignore him, you felt the material of his cargos brushing against your arms as he squat down behind you. Your peripherals showed Arthur's face behind you in the mirror as you searched your makeup bag, doing your best not to look and acknowledge the man behind you- though as you found your pen and your eyes flicked back to the mirror- they momentarily met Arthur's big doe eyes before flitting away- causing a wide grin to light on Arthur's face.
A wide grin you wished you could've been looking at.
"Looks perfect." Arthur commented on the blush, still smiling cheekily as he snaked an arm around you shoulder, travelling across your collarbone so that his fingers brushed your opposite shoulder as he held you in what felt like a possessive way.
He didn't make it any easier for you to ignore him, the way you could feel butterflies dancing around your stomach and your skin tingling from his touch, hairs raising on the back of your neck as you could feel his every breath land coolly against the side of your neck.
Being in a house with eight other room-mates was not the place to start getting hot and bothered over a boy, though as you felt Arthur's other hand place softly against your  waist, thumb caressing the soft skin of your stomach exposed by your cropped top whilst his palm rubbed up and down sensually slowly, you could feel your thoughts turning hornier by the second.
"I know what you're trying to do," Arthur whispered into you ear just as Anastasia and Anisa started getting back into their own conversation, not noticing the closeness between yourself and Arthur as pressed his lips to your skin. You gulped and starting unscrewing the lid of your highlighter pen, trying to ignore Arthur's husky voice in your ear. "Good luck tryna ignore me, but just know that I won't make it easy for you..."
Arthur pressed a chaste little kiss behind your ear, patting your hip as a little goodbye before getting up from behind you and departing down the stairs as though nothing had just happened.
You exhaled a breath you didn't even realise you'd been holding.
At some point, Sugarlips gathered you all to the living room sofa, turning a screen on and taking you through comments left on recent videos.
You lounged yourself besides Steph, resting your head on her shoulder and waiting for the others to arrive. Anisa, Millie, Spuddz, Johnny- they all slotted through the door one by one, and lastly , Arthur came and (to your disappreciation), plopped himself right besides you on the cushions.
One of his arms fell over your shoulders instinctually, though as the comments were read out one after the other, his arm seductively slowly trailed from your shoulders down to your thigh. It was painful, the way you fixated on that soothing touch of his thumb rubbing slowly over your outer thigh, biting your lip and glancing down just momentarily to catch the sight of his large hand almost enveloping the width of your thigh from the tip of his pinkie to his thumb. You felt as though you were discovering new kinks, as the way his hand looked so grand on your thigh had your pupils dilating, thoughts dipping into the forbidden horny vault as your felt his fitted "manwhore" shirt brush against your arm as he leaned close.
"Don't get let me distract you," Arthur whispered into your ear quietly, the cruel smirk dripping from his voice as he taunted you, his breath across your skin making you shiver, feeling his lips brushing the sensitive skin. "You just focus on tryna ignore me, hm?"
You kissed your teeth, not wanting to entertain him and yet having to pretend as though he weren't there regardless. It became easier to ignore his presence as his thumb slowed and slowed until it eventually stopped, just resting against your thigh and sleeping, letting you find yourself back in the moment and laughing with the rest of the housemates as you came back in touch with reality until-
You choked over your word as you felt Arthur's hand slip further across your leggings, his palm resting on your inner thigh and shocking you- turning your face bright red and making you instantly choke on your word, silencing you with shock as your splutters coughs, though nobody seemed to notice it over Darkest's yells of laughter, allowing you a moment to recover.
Eyes squeezing shut, you couldn't help but flicker your gaze over at Arthur for just a moment, his expression poker straight with just the slightest curl of his lip- amused by your suffering- amused by the way you were like putty in his hands.
His hand was so dangerously placed. His palm fell over that soft skin ranging from the uppermost bit of your thigh down the inside, fingers spread facing down to your knee so comfortably it was like they belonged there. So sinfully entitled. Bright pink heat rose to your cheeks at the thought of how close he was to you, how one slight fraction of a movement would have his hand on something completely different and have you feeling some other way completely... It felt so wrong, having him like that whilst you were sat by nine others- being recorded for the whole of the internet to see, too.
You were squirming internally, wanting to tell Arthur to stop, get off and leave you be- but you were torn between fulfilling your challenge of ignoring him and your genuine need to have him closer. To tell him to touch you instead. Entertain him. Tell him to do something, and see whether he'd follow it up and play the game with you- who would be first to back down?
And as though Arthur could read your mind, you felt the tip of his pinky which was closest to the seam of your leggings ranging upwards, scaling the see-through mesh region of your leggings and closer to your core.
The only difference between yourself and Arthur though, was that whilst Arthur seemed quite up for a casual bit of exhibitionism just to see you fail your challenge- you were not about to let him fuck you on the Locked In sofa with eight other people watching.  Even if that would set a pretty fuckin unbeatable legacy-
You emit a little gasp as you felt Arthur's pinkie slip perhaps more than he'd meant it. He was barely millimetres away from his finger tips touching the uppermost of your legging's inseam- and you jumped, gripping his wrist firmly enough to make it begin glowing white from the contact- stopping his movements and pinning his wrist in place. You'd jumped around to face Arthur- give him a long, hard look for the first time all day.
His eyes were completely blown out, brown irises pushed out by feral black pupils, eyes wide in a way you'd never seen them before. A bright red glow was present across either cheek, connected across the bright of his nose which was blushed also- his lips slightly parted as though he was struggling for air, simply running on animalistic desires and needs.
Even he seemed shocked at the fact you'd acknowledged him- even if it were only for a moment, before both of your heads snapped back to the screen as-
DING!
"Arthur and Y/n are my absolute faves omg, istg these two have sm chemistry but also sexual tension either they come out of this house FWB's or married atp"
It took a moment for the shock of Arthur's previous actions to mull over and be replaced with the words Sugarlips read out. And then register those words...
The girls squealed and leaned over to kick your legs with titters of told you! and laughs, whilst Johnny and Darkest just cheered and slammed Arthur on the back as a well done.
Arthur looked proud despite the even brighter red glow of embarrassment across his cheeks, whilst you just collapsed against Steph's side, using Steph's body as a shield for your rudolph-red face, leaning against her for a moment longer than you really needed to just so to fully recover from whatever the Hell had happened within the last ten minutes.
Retracting from Steph as the attention shifted back to the screen, the next comment already being read out, you looked back at Arthur's face.
He glanced at you, lips curving into a devious smirk. "You're welcome." He grinned maliciously, drawing a huff from you as you turned around to face the screen and purposefully crossed your leg over the other- swinging one thigh over the other and away from Arthur.
"Y/n, please report to the storeroom."
You plopped your ass on their confession seat. "He's an absolute wanker you know, Sugarlips, been testing my patience out."
"We can tell. He is very touchy today."
Your ears went bright red. "Whatall have you seen, sugarlips."
"His hand was around your shoulder at the seats. And Steph's body blocked our view of his hand, but it looked like it was on your knee."
Oh thank fuck the cameras didn't see what happened. You mentally breathed a sigh of relief. God bless Steph and her beautiful body.
"We also have seen you look at Arthur and talk to him momentarily."
"Whoa whoa whoa, sugarlips you gotta understand that was necessary, he said he'd poo on my bed tonight if I didn't."
"Do you expect us to give you a second chance?"
"Well, if you're offering one sugarlips, those three points would be much appreciated."
"Hm... We'll see how you do for the rest of the day, Y/n."
You grinned, knowing that meant she agreed. "Cheers, Sugarlips, I'll do you proud."
"Of course you will, Y/n."
Just as you got up to leave, you felt the need to double back to Sugarlips.
"Oh, and please give Arthur something to do. Otherwise he's just constantly on my back."
Turns out the distraction Sugarlips provided to Arthur was insufficient.
The chessboard they'd gifted Arthur was entertaining for twenty minutes, in which time you'd decided to begin making some sort of dinner, and Arthur had already won 4 games against the other house members.
The pot sizzled as you added the soy sauce into the mince, the garlic, shallots and red chilli following as you double checked the rice also to make sure everything was cooking just fine. Given that within the first few days the house had ran through the entire supply of pot noodles, everyone who could actually cook without transferring salmonella had gone on a rota for who cooked each night.
Tonight was your night, and although most times whenever someone cooked the rest of the house would join them and entertain them- you'd asked to just be able to cook alone so that you could just let your mind declutter after the day. Plus, you wanted to make a Thai bowl for everyone, and that required a little bit of mental effort to just remember how exactly that was cooked.
Questions whizzed around your head as you separated the mince out using the wooden spatula, keeping your mind so occupied that you didn't realise someone else had joined you in the kitchen until it was too late.
A gasp was drawn straight from your throat as you felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist, squeezing you and swaying from side to side in what would've been a sweet, domestic way- had it not been for the way you already knew who it was hugging you from behind.
You weakly shrugged those arms away, trying not to let butterflies form as a result of his touchy loving. You couldn't tell if you were relieved or slightly despondent as Arthur really did pull away.
"I'll get plates out," Arthur hummed, reaching to open the draw above your head and easily managing to do so as it swung open without touching a hair on your head.
For the second time within the minute, a gasp left your throat as Arthur's body came flush with yours from behind, pressing up against your back as he leaned over to find ten china bowls in the cupboard above your head.
Though the action of Arthur pressing his body up so close to yours you could feel the heat radiating through his shirt was enough to get your cheeks reddening- the feeling of something beneath his cargos pressing into your lower back gave you the realisation that you weren't the only one getting unmanageably horny within the locked in house.
As Arthur pulled away a moment later, hands laden with china, he made eye contact and passed the most subtle of winks that had you rolling your eyes and looking for the videoing camera within one of the four corners before locating it and mouthing I hate him, all the while fighting to turn your face a more normal colour.
Of course, Arthur caught your reddened face with a cheeky grin, only returning for more as he claimed to "help set the table", feeling the need to place his hands on your hips to move you out of the way of the cutlery drawer.
And that didn't help the rudolph-red face.
Thank God Spuddz had gotten too bored of all the chess and wandered into the kitchen, spotting Arthur and bounding over, holding Arthur beneath one arm and chatting to you with the other half of his brain about how Arthur must've been cheating with the chess board ("I'm telling you- he must have a bishop shoved up his bu-)
You allowed Spuddz to remove Arthur with a sigh of relief, finishing up the Thai cuisine and plating up equal sized portions in each bowl before loading them onto a tray and handing them out- joining Millie on the sofas and enjoying watching her playful bickering with Jamie whilst you ate your rice.
And it was nice to see everyone appreciate your cooking, as the girls begged for you to move in with them just to try more of your cooking, whilst Darkest, Johnny and Jokeman declared you "wifey" material and gave Arthur pointed looks.
Whilst it was all well and fun eating with your housemates and listening to the banter that was contentedly thrown from person to person, you found yourself getting up to stretch after you'd eaten- deciding to excuse yourself to take a shower.
"I'll be about half an hour in there, if you wanna grab your stuff to brush your teeth downstairs be my guest." You informed the room before heading up, grabbing a towel and your shower kit, heading into the bathroom and letting the water run.
Nobody appeared to be interested in getting their toiletries, thus you took great pleasure in slinging your towel over the shower door and stepping into the glass door confinement and allowing the warm jets to run down your body and cleanse all the soapy suds that trailed from your neck down your body and into the drain.
It was calming, and a bloody good place to just get a moment to yourself whereby you knew you could go unbothered- and you got a nice good look at yourself in the mirror as you dried yourself down with the towel you'd initially brought in for yourself- even getting out the moisturiser to nourish your skin with.
It was only when you turned around to the bare radiator, you realised that you had left your clothes outside. In a little bundle on the edge of your bed- you could practically visualise it there, see it almost tauntingly sat on the edge of your bed.
Your head fell into your hands, your digits barely muffling your groan as you realised you'd have to run to your bed in just that towel to try and grab the clothes and get back in without anyone seeing you. Or at least none of the boys; all the girls were fine, at least.
Peeking through the keyhole, it appeared nobody was even there. And you weren't going to start second guessing yourself and leave enough time for someone else to walk on up and enter in the bedroom meaning you had to wait any longer to get your clothes.
You pushed the door handle down firmly, one hand gripping the towel which was knotted at your chest to hold the it safe around your body...
Marching with a quick pace- you barely made a step outside of the bathroom before you slammed into a body which sent you recoiling with a gasp. Yet they only closed the gap between you, shutting the door behind them with a backwards kick as your back hit the sinks leaving you no exit as he leaned in close.
Arthur's eyes had you unable to look away, the blaze within them making knots form in your stomach whilst the smirk that rested on his face seemed to bring that same feeling down to your core.
"Been having fun ignoring me all day?" He cocked his head and asked with a devious grin.
"Yeah and I still should be ignoring you." You managed to break the eye contact, focussing on a wall instead. Yet by not being able to see Arthur you only became more wary of his touch which only seemed to bring a redness to your cheeks as you realised how vulnerable you were in just a thin towel with a flimsy knot at the top. Fuck, you could feel goosebumps lighting across your skin as you realised that the towel barely reached your thighs and your weren't even wearing panties beneath! Arthur appeared to notice all that embarrassment on your face too, and seemed to take great satisfaction in it.
"Oh c'mon, you know damn well they can't hear you in here..." You turned back to him and looked onto his shirt, realising he'd also unplugged his mic from his tee shirt. And his grin only widened as he watched you notice this and glance upwards to meet his eyes, a glimmer of realisation and maybe even desire in your eyes. "I think we have some unfinished business, Y/n."
"And what would that be?" You tried to match his confidence with a cocky grin of your own, having realised that nobody- not even Sugarlips would be able to see what happened now. "Was it trying to fuck me on that sofa downstairs? Or grind until we're fucking on the kitchen counter..."
"Didn't realise you such were an exhibitionist," His fingers found your jaw, thumb gently padding over your lips whilst his index and middle lightly pushed against your chin, indicating for you to tilt your head back- allowing him to close the very last bit of space between the two of you- his lips delicately brushing your jawline as he mumbled "But why don't we start here, for now..."
His lips were feather light, his stubble brushing gently across your tender skin as he mumbled those words before pressing a kiss at the prominent bone at your jawline, his touch delicate despite the passion behind it, causing butterflies in your stomach as his gentle touch trailed down from your jawline to your lower neck.
Your eyes fluttered and closed as Arthur caught you by surprise, gasp leaving your throat as he bit down onto a sensitive spot between your neck and collarbone which made your heartrate shoot up, lips fall between your teeth in a futile attempt to try and muffle a moan as Arthur's mouth formed a suction around the skin, ravenously leaving a dark purple mark which he pressed his tongue flat onto once more, pressing until you were whimpering and clenching your thighs together subconsciously- the whine in your voice only turning Arthur on as you felt his lips curve into a smirk atop your skin.
"Can I take this off?" He looked up, two fingers hooked around the knot of the towel between your breasts, the only thing holding your dignity together. Yet you could feel your 'dignity' dripping between your legs, and couldn't restrain yourself from nodding your head, whispering "Fuck, yes" and relishing in the feeling of Arthur's long, talented fingers unravel your towel in a mere second, dropping to the floor and exposing you.
There was almost a feeling of shyness, being this vulnerable to him, and you looked down- your arms crossing over your stomach loosely, subconsciously shielding yourself, though Arthur seemed to hate the idea as-
"-No-" His hand grabbed your arm, pinning it back besides your body so quickly a gasp left your throat as you looked to catch Arthur's expression. Wholly mesmerised. "Fuck, you're so beautiful..."
That queued another blush to rise to your cheeks, biting down on your lip and looking to the floor, yet you weren't given an opportunity to bask in the praise as Arthur's hands snaked down to your tits, large hands encompassing the soft flesh as he fondled both boobs simultaneously, thumbs teasing over the sensitive buds and making your legs shake as you let out a shaky breath, trying not to moan, considering you had not clue whether anyone would be able to hear what was happening from outside if they just so happened to wander into the bedroom...
Only when Arthur's head lowered to one titty, did you realise how defenseless you were though, as a unexpected moan was pulled from your throat, back arching from the sink as his hot mouth was placed around one nipple, his tongue swirling before flicking the hard nub with such experience you inadvertently started grinding down onto his clothes leg which rested between either thigh all too invitingly.
"A-Arthur-" You managed to hold your moans to whine his name. He pulled away with a hum in response, his hands following the curve of your sides down to your hips where the space between his thumb and index fit perfectly in your hip dips. You almost got lost in how fucking intoxicating the feel of his hands over your hips was- controlling your movements and handling you as he turned you around so that you faced the mirrors, looking at him in the reflection and doting on how infatuated he looked as his eyes scanned down your body, his eyes lingering at your fat ass. Your responsible thoughts all came back to you though as you felt Arthur's hand glide over to your peachy skin, fingers closing around a handful of ass before you opened your mouth again. "Arthur- we shouldn't be doing t-this..."
You watched as his lips quirked, curving into a sinful smile that only made your thoughts juxtapose your previous words.
"That's funny." He hadn't moved to meet your eyes yet. You just stared at his reflection wonderingly, only feeling as his hand slowly moved across your skin, his other hand finding your lower back and you unintentionally arched your back at the touch, exposing your core to him which caused a low chuckle to come from his throat. "You say we shouldn't be doing this, but your body seems to feel otherwise-" A gasp fell from your throat, your neck rolling back as you felt Arthur's hand between your thighs, his thumb tracing up between your folds until he felt touched your clit- the bundle of nerves shooting fireworks all over your body as he just touched it only a fraction.
He chuckled at your response to even the slightest of stimulation, your thighs clenching and clamping around his hand with the little friction he gave. His fingers only kept working, however, as he traced his middle and index finger back up from to your slit, collecting your arousal on his fingers and only using it to lubricate his motions as he slipped his fingers into your pussy, curling them and making you let out a loud moan, closing your eyes and biting down on your lip after as you realised how loud you were.
"Because we don't have to do this if you 'know' that we shouldn't..." Arthur's words were taunting, borderline cruel as his words told you one thing, yet the fingers that slid between your walls told you another. "You want to stop? You just tell me and I'll stop touching you..." He was cruel - he knew you were too drunk on the feeling of his digits pushing into your pussy, finding that pleasure spot and making you want to cry out as you felt him brush it with every stroke, his thumb pairing with the motion and rubbing agonising circles on your clit.
Your hands gripped the edge of the sink, knuckles glowing nearly as white as the marble as you tried not to let out stupidly loud noises. And as though Arthur could read you mind:
"Don't be too loud, hm?" He was scorning you yet again, taunting with sarcasm dripping from his voice in such a sexy way you could feel yourself quite literally dripping onto his hand between your thighs. "I'd say you'd hate if anyone knew what we were doing, but if you wanna fuck on that sofa downstairs next, then I really don't know how you'd feel..."
You didn't humour his mocking, your eyes already rolled to the back of your head, hips inadvertently rocking back and forth, following the movement of his hand so that you could feel a knot forming in your stomach - your orgasm echoed in your actions as you felt yourself clench just the slightest bit around his fingers-
Before he took them out of you.
You were dazed, so close to orgasm and so disappointed as you opened your eyes, frowning at Arthur in the mirror before seeing his unbuckling his belt behind you...
Not so disappointed after all, you rocked your hips back and forth, easing away the draining feeling of the lost orgasm and instead looking at his reflection in the mirror and waiting for him to take his cargos off...
"Fuck, do they have condoms here?"
"No need," You smiled innocently. "On the pill."
Arthur groaned at the way you said it, his hand disappearing under his cargos to stroke his length under his boxers, feeling over the rock-hard boner, tip red from the blood rush and precum smeared sinfully over the tip.
Feeling his cock running along your folds, collecting your wetness on his tip as he directed his cock from your clit all the way back to your hole had you in a state- loud moan leaving your throat as you threw your head back.
"Go on then, tell me how much you want this," That devilish grin had returned to his face as he waited for you to talk.
"So fucking bad, Arthur..." You didn't even bother with being subtle about it, the way you were so needy for it, you'd completely lost your filter and were completely ravenous for Arthur.
Feeling him push the tip into your pussy was enough to have your mind completely broken with pleasure, the stretch already so good... Yet Arthur didn't push in fully as you stopped talking. "Keep going," Arthur encouraged you to speak with a devilish grin.
"Need you so fucking bad Arthur, I want you inside me..." You could feel him sinking furthering into you, his cock filling your pussy up inch my inch and having you completely wasted as you kept babbling. "Please, fuck, fuck me Arthur..."
Arthur had bottomed out as you said the last bit, waiting a moment or so and only just allowed you to adjust to his size before he pulled back slowly before thrusting right back inside, your whole body jolting at the feeling, a raw moan leaving your throat as you felt his tip brushing you G-spot instantly, making your legs feel jelly when he was only one thrust deep.
He felt so good, the stretch, the angle, the way he hit that spot - your head was bowed, whole body shaking as you felt his hands on your hips, manhandling and snapping your body back by the hips to match his thrusts, only reaching deeper into your pussy and making you nearly cry from how good it felt.
One hand moved from your hips, reaching up and grabbing your hair in a bunch and pulling your head back so animalistically you almost got whiplash (and yet you would've been willing to thank him for it), the motion making you groan as he pulled your head up so that you were forced to look into the mirror.
Arthur looked fucking Godly. His hair spiked and messy, jaw slack and eyes half lidded, that gorgeous body that looked as though it had been chiselled by Zeus itself...
A gasp fell from your throat, pushing you forwards as you felt him hit somewhere completely new, taking you with shock and complete euphoria as you felt stars clouding your vision.
"Ugh, fuck, Arthur- I think..." You had to bite down on your lip to prevent the absolutely filthy moan from escaping your lips. Arthur got the message though, and he didn't seem that far away either- the way his thrusts grew sloppier by the second.
"Same, fuck, c'mere gorgeous-" He could feel your legs giving out already, and didn't hold himself back in wrapping one arm around your leg, raising it so that it was by your side as you leaned your bodyweight back onto him- his other arm holding your body against his own whilst he snapped his hips up to thrust into you. He could practically feel how close to your climax you were, and grunted "Say my name- fuck- say my name when you cum-"
You were body had completely faltered, unable to support itself under the buzz of fruition that had each individual neurone in your body racing with impulses running at the speed of light, the knot in your stomach growing tighter and tighter by the second until you were seeing stars in your vision, thighs shaking from the muscles tightening so much- your whole body filling with euphoria as you followed his command and chanted his name "A-Arthur, ohmyfuckinggodArthur!", your orgasm rushed dopamine through your whole body as you came - hard - black spots clouding your vision as you felt the pleasure drain from your head to the tips of your fingers...
And just as you felt that pleasure turning into just the slightest of painful overstimulation- Arthur's cock still thrusting into you as he chased his own climax, his athletic arms practically picking you up and manoeuvring your body so that he could fuck himself into you to get his own end- he let out one loud groan, his head burrowing into the crook of your neck as you felt him filling you up, reaching his own orgasm and painting your insides with his hot white climax, his lips leaving one final hickey against the already marked skin of your neck before gently lowered you onto your own (shakey) legs.
There was a peace in the air.
A strange sort of mutual serenity came, having shed all of that sexual tension and weeks of hopeful talking and finally, finally just fucking and resolving all of that built up traction.
"Fucking finally," You were the first to break the silence with a grin, turning around so that your body faced Arthur's smiling as you looked at that beautiful face of his.
"What, you've been wanting this for a while, too?" Arthur asked jokingly, though it was obvious he was really being genuine with what he said.
"Yeah, considering you've been teasing me all day it's no big shock that I've been wanting this." You rolled your eyes, Arthur laughing himself. "I think I need another shower though..."
"Am I coming?" Arthur quirked a brow with a hopeful smile.
"No, you just came in me a minute ago," You rolled your eyes at him, stalking over to the open shower and turning the tap on before turning around with a wide grin and beckoning him over despite your shitty joke. "Come on- get in here, you big idiot."
With no need for any more convincing, Arthur joined you in the shower with a laugh- flicking water on your face and attacking you with full-power setting on the shower head for a few minutes, laughing as you defended yourself with the loofa before eventually stopping him by just pressing a kiss to his lips to distract him for long enough before you took the shower head back and started attacking him with it.
"You know, I didn't realise this showerhead had such a high pressure setting..." You smirked, turning it back onto the high pressure and admiring what good use it could go to.
"I can use it on you." Arthur only doubled down far too quickly, making you laugh as you turned it back to a normal setting.
"Why don't we save that for tomorrow, hm?" You proposed jokefully, yet Arthur's enthusiastic nods told you that maybe it wouldn't be a just a joke after all.
What could've been a simple, five minute shower was drawn out into a fifty minute one, and when you came out giggling besides Arthur and you were met with Johnny sat on his bed.
He sat far too smugly, arms crossed with a smirk and a knowing look, reminding you of his presence AND making you remember the fact you were in a house with eight other people, making a great heat rise to your face as all the giggles with Arthur fell to a deadpan expression, realising you hadn't been quite so mindfully of your volume just half an hour ago when Arthur was seven inches inside of you...
Your face went bright red as you passed Johnny, hissing a you better keep your mouth shut to him before quickly walking out of the room in embarrassment, hoping Johnny didn't notice your limp, hearing his laughs from behind you which indicated that Johnny was not, in fact, going to keep his mouth shut.
---------------------
Bonus scene!
"Guys, I've got a message! It says everyone to the living room!"
You all huddled on the sofa and awaited further instructions.
"Y/n was set a secret mission today." You grinned as some of the people around the sofa let out gasps at Sugarlips' words. Your smile at your friends slowly faded however, as you remembered what that challenge was.... And what you'd just done an hour ago. "Y/n's challenge was to ignore Arthur all day."
"I knew something was up with you at the makeup table earlier!" Anisa exclaimed, punching your arm and making you mumble a little something, cheeks beginning to tinge pink as you wondered whether Sugarlips knew anything...
"Y/n, can you guess whether you passed or failed?"
You groaned internally. Why the hell would she leave it up to you to decide? Did she expect you to admit what you'd done?
You looked over to Arthur for help, and he just had a hand over his mouth in obvious shock as well, though he let out laughs nonetheless.
Your face was flushed bright red when you finally answered, and of course Spuddz pointed out- "Oi, why's your face like a lobster?" To which Steph hit him on your behalf, though Anastasia to your right gave you a shove and doubled down on Spuddz's question.
"Y/n, do you want to tell the house how you failed the challenge?" The wide grin was evident even in Sugarlips' voice as she asked the taunting question.
Anisa let out a little scream and Johnny burst out laughing all too knowingly- yourself cringing at Johnny's insider knowledge and forcing you to cover your face with your hands in pure horror, just wishing the ground would swallow you up in that moment.
"Spilll then, tell us!" They all clamoured over one another, one of the girls shaking you by your arm, though you didn't look up to see them.
"Look, c'mon, c'mon we can work this out guys...." Darkest hushed everyone around the sofa, taking on the role of Sherlock Holmes. "When was she set the task?"
"Probably at eleven like we were all brought in when we had our challenges." Jamie deduced.
"What did she do after eleven, then?" Darkest asked.
"Oo, that was makeup with me and Anastasia!" Anisa perked up. You raised your head with your eyes wide, watching as everyone began connecting the dots and fearing for their eventual conclusion...
"Then we had the comments read out where she was on the sofa with all of us..."
"Then the group challenge we were altogether, and she was on a different team to Arthur anyways-"
"And then cooking dinner... Wait! Arthur got up and went to the kitchen then, didn't he?"
"Yeah but she still ignored him there- I walked in and just saw him laying the table in there in silence..."
"Well, what then? That was just an hour ago wasn't it...?"
"Yeah"
"True"
"Hmmm..."
You hoped they'd all finish there. Reach decide their deductions were eventually inconclusible and finish up.
"Well, that's the end of that-" You tried to clap your hands together and end them, though Johnny couldn't wipe the grin off his face as he slipped-
"Then she went upstairs."
"Ohmygod and Arthur went up as well, didn't he..."
Jokeman let out a scream, getting up onto the sofa and pointing between yourself and Arthur with a hand over his mouth in shock.
"What? What? what happened?!" Everyone began exclaiming at him, not quite reaching the conclusion as fast as him. You could tell that Jokeman knew just by the look in his eyes, and went to cover your face for the third time of this evening, not wanting to even hear it as Jokeman yelled-
"HE'S FINALLY GOT SOME HASN'T HE?!"
That queued everyone to let out screams, yells, cries of laughter and response which you tried to shield yourself from as you pulled your knees up to your chest as well, burrowing in a ball as the girls shook you and cheered for you, noisily nattering besides you and throwing questions at you whilst you could only assume the boys had gone to pester Arthur.
You were practically crying into your arms, wishing the ground would swallow you up as you felt the commotion from the girls rocking the sofa beneath you- one whacking you with a pillow... Yet all you could think about was the countless number of views and clips this would get- not to mention the people that you knew were going to see it...
You looked up after a couple seconds, embarrassedly meeting Arthur with embarrassed eye contact. He grinned, offering an overdone wink with a pink dusting of blush all over his cheeks as he leaned to the right and slapped his palm into Jokeman and Darkest's, dapping them up with a far-too-cocky grin and laugh, making you roll your eyes and un-ball yourself as a grin began growing on your face.
Absolute prick, you thought towards Arthur, before looking to the camera in the corner of the look- pointing at it and grinning as you yelled- "THIS IS YOUR FAULT, Y'KNOW?!"

Hey 😚 i saw you were open to request so here i am haha but totally fine if you wanna skip it tho
Ive been really into friends to secret lover trope lately
Could you write a james x reader were childhood friend and around their sixth year in hogwarts they realized their feeling and they started to secretly dating and no one knows!
The story could focus on how they got caught? Maybe a slip up during an argument? Or that reader looks so beautiful james just couldn’t help it? Or just plain old getting caught making out in the broom closet? 😅
Hey angel, thanks so much for the request! <3
Having been friends with James since your meeting him in your guys’ first year, you pride yourself on knowing all of his little habits, able to read him like a book. So when you were curled up on the sofa, himself sprawled out across the armchair beside you huffing and puffing away, it was more than obvious to you that something was up.
“Okay, what’s wrong?” you ask, turning your body as best you can to fully face him, brows creasing as you do so. He only hums inquisitively at this, refusing to look at you as he appears to find his own hands much more interesting, fidgeting away.
“Seriously, Jamie, what’s up?” At your further questioning, he lets out one big sigh as he swings his legs over from where they had been previously stretched out over the handles of the armchair, now sat how the design permitted.
“Sirius said something to me today, got me thinking…” Realising that that was all he was willing to give you right now, you spin back around with your own huff, hugging one of the common room cushions to your chest. You know James was never too good with words, so a lot of the time you’d appreciate his choosing to stay quiet instead of stumbling over thoughts he could never fully get across.
“Hey, love?” you hum in response, eyes trained on the fire dancing before you. James’ presence always comforted you, and that paired with the warmth emanating before you made your eyes droop more than you’d like to admit.
“Would you like to go to Hogsmead with me this weekend?”
“Oh, sure” you reply, letting a dopey smile overtake your face. “We can invite Frank and Alice, I’ve been meaning to get her back for coffee-”
“No, darling, I meant just us two?” The implication made you suck in a breath, head whipping round to study any change in his features.
“You mean like.. Like a date?”
He smiles at you, a heartwarming grin that makes your stomach flip. You’re not too sure where this sudden taking to you has come from, you’d always thought you’d stay in the friend zone forever, doomed to an unrequited love from the most oblivious man you’ve ever known. Of course, your friends had tried to convince you otherwise. Mary would nudge you gently every time she caught James staring at you, to which you’d always brush her off one way or another, making up excuses so as to not get your hopes up.
Who would’ve guessed that all this time, he was thinking the same about you?
You had both agreed to not tell anyone about your date until you had figured stuff out between the two of you, wanting to be secure in what the other was feeling before going public with anything. It seemed the most sensible thing to do.
But when the day of the date came, you found yourself frustrated at not being able to tell anyone. No one to help pick an outfit out, no one to help you with your hair, no one to talk to. As much as you hated it, you made a promise to James.
There was a close call where he dragged you by your wrist into a dingy alleyway after having spotted Dorcas as she left a quaint bookshop, holding you against a wall with a finger pressed to his lip in a hush motion, hand placed on your hip to keep you still and steady, lest you run out and make yourselves known. To say the whole ordeal made your heart skip a beat would’ve been an understatement, and the sneaking around was absolutely riveting.
So you found that what was even more frustrating, was not being able to tell anyone how good the date went. He had greeted you with a bouquet of flowers, charm placed on them to never wilt as well. He had been a gentleman the whole afternoon (he normally is anyway, but even more so this time). He had held every door open for you, even pulling out your chair for you, and paid for the whole ordeal. You felt so safe with him walking next to you, a certain pride overcoming you knowing that he liked you, and you liked him, and gosh he liked you. It was overwhelming and you longed for someone to share it with. But James had your word, and the last thing you wanted to do was mess things up with him. So, you kept your mouth shut, painful as it was.
The next few weeks consisted of you sneaking around everywhere, and although it started off as exciting, you were really starting to get tired of keeping such a daunting secret from your closest friends. There was a lot of sneaking out after curfew to have midnight picnics on the astronomy tower, consisting of snacks James had nabbed from the Great Hall during dinner. A lot of sneaking off with the promise of the bathroom on your lips to professors, instead meeting up just to get these little snippets of alone time with each other, before any of your friends could catch on, let alone someone like Minnie.
You thought finally going on dates with James Potter would be a good thing, but you came to find that you hated it. Not the dates, they were always amazing. They always made you forget how much you disliked sneaking around, almost making it all worth it. He was amazing, and kind, and funny and gosh you liked him so very much, but the lack of sleep was starting to catch up to you, making you much more irritable than normal.
Every time you’d sit gathered in the common room with all your friends and who you wished to be your boyfriend, all you’d want is to openly hold his hand, openly admire how good he looked in that one quidditch jumper, and oh wow, to openly kiss him.
To be fair, he hadn’t even secretly kissed you yet.
So when you heard Sirius talking to James in the Great Hall about a Hufflepuff girl cheering extra loud for him during their last quidditch match, always staring at him with heart eyes and blushing every time he looked her way, it got on your last nerve.
“James, can I talk to you please?” you practically grit through your teeth, trying to keep your calm as best as you can.
“Hold on a sec, you’ve been stealing him away so much lately, what, you guys fucking or something?” Sirius proclaimed, wiggling his eyebrows at the both of you infuriatingly. To say the least, the comment had struck a soft spot, and you wanted now more than ever for James to lift this silly rule, to be confident enough in your relationship to just admit his feelings for you, right there, in front of everybody.
It was too much to hope, as all he did was turn around and join in on the jesting, not even considering how it might make you feel.
“Gosh no, you know we’re just friends, Pads cmon, don’t be like that.” The words cut through you, hurting more than he realised. You didn’t even know what to do, but you weren’t making the decisions, your body was making them for you. You spun on your feet, tears welling up in your eyes, embarrassment overflowing through your veins like blood. You started to walk away, leaving behind you a stunned Sirius and a very regretful James.
In that moment, all conflicting feelings left him, overtaken by wanting (read: needing) to comfort you, any means necessary. He couldn’t stand to see you upset, especially by his own hand.
When you heard him calling after you, getting up to catch up to you, you could only speed up, trying to get away from him as fast as possible.
“Honey, please, I didn’t mean it, you know I didn’t mean it-”
It’s no surprise that he catches up to you, jogging in front of you to somewhat block your path, pleading with you to hear him out. When your stubbornness dismissed him, there was only one more thing that he could think to do that would get his point across. After all, actions do speak louder than words.
He grabs ahold of your face with both hands, opening his mouth to say something, anything, before cutting himself off by planting his lips firmly to yours.
James Potter really was never very good with words. So it’s a good thing that you could always understand him, words or not.
thank you so much for reading, i hope you enjoyed! i'm always open to constructive criticism and helpful feedback :) a like, comment or reblog goes so far💕

prompt: where Jamie comforts you when you overhear Trevor says he would never date you
word count: 3,535
“Are you ready for tonight Z,” Mason asked as they were filing out of the locker room after practice. The older boy let out a huff and shook his head. “I mean yes and no,” he says throwing his bag in the back of the Bronco. “What do you mean yes and no? I thought you were pumped for your friends to come out with us this weekend,” Jamie said looking at his roommate confused.
“I am really excited. It’s just Jack called me this morning saying that Y/n’s plans changed and she is able to come today with all of them and not tomorrow like we planned,” Trevor said pulling out of the parking lot and heading to his and Jamie’s house. “Okay, so what she is coming a day early? What is the big deal about coming one day early,” Mason asked from the back seat. “Yeah, she sounds super cool,” Jamie said recalling all the stories he had heard of the girl.
“She is fucking amazing, like literally the coolest girl I know,” Trevor responded with a sigh. “Okay, I am so lost. You are upset she is coming early, but she is amazing,” Mason was beyond confused. “No, it’s just, okay so she is literally the sweetest person ever. Like I’m talking you think she is faking it but it is all true. I love her beyond words, it’s just she has always had a thing for me,” he responds pulling up to the house and seeing a rental car full of his friends. “And it has never bothered me. I mean I think the attention and all that but wherever we go people think we are together. I mean you have no idea how many girls I have missed out on because of her,” he groaned putting the car in park and taking a deep breath.
“You are a fucking idiot,” Jamie says laughing at him and jumping out of the vehicle. “You must be talking about Trevor,” Cole joked from his spot leaning against the car. “Ha ha ha, hilarious,” Z mocks and embraces his friend. “Why is he an idiot this time,” Jack asks jumping in on the joke and hugging his friend. “Y/n,” both Mason and Jamie respond, making the other two guys nod their heads. “Oh god, here we go again,” Cole says grabbing his bag and following Jamie up the driveway to the house.
“Let me guess, he is complaining about how she is in love with him and his life is just so hard. I mean the torture of having a cool, kind, and pretty girl being into. Can you even imagine,” Jack responded with an eye roll. “Seriously Z, I wish she had chosen me over you,” Cole said plopping down on the couch. “If you want her so bad do something about it. It would help me out. Because I am telling you, nothing is gonna stop me from closing the deal tonight with Brittney,” the New York native says walking into the living room and opening his bottle of water.
“Brittney,” Cole and Jack ask looking at each other. “She is this bartender at the place we are going tonight. Trevor has been trying to get with her for like three or four weeks,” Jamie explains finding his spot on the end of the couch near Cole. “She is just playing the long game, she wants me,” Z says sitting down and starting up Mario Cart. “No she doesn’t Z,” Mason says flipping through to find his character. “Dude she flirts with me every time we go,” he rolls his eyes. “That’s her job dude. She gets more tips that way,” Jamie responded scrolling through his phone while the other four played a round.
“You guys will see later, or should I say hear later when I bring her home tonight,” Trevor says being cocky. Before any of the guys can chirp him the front door opening halts the conversation. “Who are you bringing home tonight,” Alex asked walking into the room first dropping his luggage on the floor near the door. “Brittney,” the other four respond. “I don’t even wanna know honestly. I am too tired to get into this,” he says walking towards the couch and looking for a spot to sit.
“Here you go dude,” Jamie says hopping up and giving the Kings player his seat. “No man, it’s your house,” he tries to argue but Jamie has already moved to sit on the oversized chair next to the couch. “It’s no big deal,” Jamie smiled at the older boy. The sound of my footsteps got everyone’s attention.
“Y/n,” Cole screams jumping up and pulling me into a tight hug. “Hey Coley,” I laugh into his chest and sway us a little. “Okay enough. My turn,” Jack says ripping Cole’s arms off of me and wrapping me up in his arms. “I missed you too Jacky,” I smile slipping my arm around his waist as he pulls away and stands next to me. “Also, Alex you have no reason to be tired. I drove here and you sleep the whole way,” I laugh kicking his legs that were propped up on the table. “Brat,” he snickers. “Princess,” I joke back and he laughs. “And don’t you forget it,” he responds with a wink.
“Hey Z,” I smile looking over at the boy who I had crushed on all of those years ago. “Y/n/n,” he smiled and stood up giving me a hug and a pat on the head. I laugh up at him and he flashes me his toothy grin. “Anyway, guys this is Y/n. Y/n this is Mason and Jamie,” he says moving away and back to his spot on the couch. “It’s really nice to meet you guys,” I smile at the two Candian boys.
Mason smiled and shook my hand and Jamie sat there. Cole nudged him and laughed as Jamie snapped out of his trance and turned red. “Hi Jamie,” I say moving to the empty spot on the couch in between Jack and Trevor. “Hi,” he says back smiling. I lean back and feel Jack wrap his arm around me and pull me closer. “Miss me J,” I laugh teasing the boy. “Yes. You should just quit school and move to Jersey so I can see you more,” he says smiling down at me.
“You know I can’t quit school. Some of us aren’t freakishly amazing at sports and go pro. Some of us have to go the boring route,” I say with a pout joking. “Yeah leave her alone Hughesy. She is like what a year out from graduating? You know what that is right,” Alex jokes earning a pillow thrown at him. “Fuck off,” he responds flipping Alex off. “Boys,” I say looking between the two. “Oh, you two are in trouble. Get em’ mama,” Cole says and I laugh at the nickname. I roll my eyes wondering how this weekend is gonna go.
Hours later when the seven of us got motivated we started getting ready for tonight. “So you live in Vancouver,” Mason asked me from the couch behind me. He had finished getting ready first and waited downstairs. I didn’t feel like fighting for the mirror in any of the bathrooms so I used my traveling one to do my makeup down here. “Yeah, I do. I go to school there,” I smile at him through the mirror. “Yeah our girl is gonna be a doctor,” Trevor says walking into the room with Cole. The two finally look my way as I am standing up putting the last of my makeup away. “
“Holy shit,” I hear mumbled under someone’s breath. “Why are you looking at me like that,” I say glancing back at the mirror trying to figure out what was wrong. “No no no. Nothing is wrong,” Cole rushes to say, trying to stop my worry. “Then what is it,” I say raising an eyebrow and crossing my arms over my chest. “Damn Y/n, you look hot,” Jack says walking into the door with Jamie and Alex. My cheeks turn bright red at the compliment.
I was wearing a see-through long-sleeved black top with a black bralette under it. A pair of high-waisted light-wash jeans and my Converse. “You guys ready to go,” I ask trying to get the attention off of me. We all split up between two cars and headed to the club Trevor had picked for the night. Alex, Jamie, and I all loaded up into my car while Cole, Trevor, Mason, and Jack got into the Bronco. “So can I ask you a question,” Jamie asked from the front seat, where I insisted he sat. “Yeah what’s up,” I ask from the middle seat of the back of the car.
“You and Trevor,” he started and then stopped trying to find his words. Alex and I laughed and knew exactly what he was talking about. “When we all first met I had a thing for Trevor. It lasted a couple of years and honestly was pretty sad,” I say wincing at how I used to act like a puppy following him around. “It was not sad Y/n/n,” Alex says looking back at me. “He never once gave me a reason to think he had feelings back so I just settled on being his friend,” I say getting out of the car when Jamie opens the door. “Thanks,” I say smiling at him.
“Y/n has the biggest heart of anyone I know. She loves big and puts everyone else above her. She finally got it through her hard head that she deserved someone who actually had feelings for her, instead of Z only fucking around when he didn’t have any other girl to flirt with,” Alex says and I lean over and hug him. As I go to move back I stumble on a rock and lose my balance. Jamie’s arms reach out and grab my waist keeping me upright. I grab his arm and laugh at how clumsy I am.
“You two look awfully cozy,” Cole jokes as they walk up to us. “Jealous,” I joke sticking my tongue out at him. “Always,” he goes along with it and sticks out his arm waiting for me to slip my arm through. I shake my head and thank Jamie before joining Cole. The two of us lead the group into the club towards the line to get in. After about ten minutes we finally get in and scout the place out for a table big enough for all of us.
“You guys find a table. I am going to find Brittney,” Trevor yells over the loud music. After finally finding a spot everyone gets settled. “I’ll be right back,” I say into Jack’s ear standing up. He raises his eyebrows at me questioning where I thought I was going. “I am going to the bathroom J. I’ll be right back, and plus you can see me the whole way there and back,” I laugh at his overprotectiveness. “I’m watching you,” he says and I smile turning and heading away from the table.
Leaving the bathroom I see Trevor at the bar and head over to get a drink. He is talking to some blonde girl behind the bar. I try to make my way to the bar but it is so crowded. I see a small spot next to Z and slip into it. I was super close to him but that wasn’t even the closest we had ever been. “Hey Z,” I smile and his head snaps my way. “What the hell are you doing here,” he whisper shouts in my ear. I pull back confused and look to see if he is joking. I quickly realize that he isn’t.
Before I can even ask what the hell his problem is I hear the voice of the pretty blonde. “Oh my god Trevor. You didn’t tell me you had a girlfriend. She is so pretty,” she smiles across at me and I try and send her a genuine smile back. He steps away from me, bumping into the guys behind him. “Oh god no. She isn't my girlfriend,” he laughs trying to get the attention back of the blonde on him. She isn’t giving him any looking over at me with pity. The way he said the sentence was probably meant in a joking way but his laugh hurt me more than he knew.
I walk away as he is still saying how there is no way he would date me and I rush back to the table. All the negative comments from my past came flooding back. From ex-boyfriends, bullies, and haters online. I finally stumble back to the table. Jamie is the only one sitting there when I finally make my way back. “Hey so everyone went to dance or whatever but I got you this drink and didn’t want to leave it-” Jamie said and then stopped when he looked up and saw my face. He opened his mouth to say something and I shook my head,” I just wanna go home,” I said with teary eyes and a pouty lip.
He nodded and moved to stand and wanted to move toward him and hug him but my confidence was on the floor so I stopped. He noticed this and pulled me forward and wrapped his arms around me. I had only met Jamie hours ago but he was one of the most comforting people I had ever been around. I just felt safe with him. I sniffled into the collar of his shirt and his arm was on my waist keeping me in his embrace, and his other hand was in my hair holding my head. “Okay, I am gonna go tell Trevor-” he starts but I jerk my head up and look up into his blue eyes. “Please don’t,” I say with a wobbly voice.
He flashes me a confused look but nods and looks around the club finally seeing Mason over the crowd. “C’mon, we can go tell the other guys and go back okay? I’m not leaving you over here crying,” his voice is stern but also soft. He maneuvers us through the club and we finally meet up with the rest of our group. Seeing me upset and crying the guys all jump into action throwing questions at me every which way. I shake my head and they all give me a second to breathe.
“Come here mama,” Cole says opening his arms. I unwrap myself from Jamie and let Cole hold me. The others try and get an answer out of Jamie but he doesn’t know anything. “Let me go pay my tab and I’ll take you back okay,” Cole says into my hair and I shake my head. “I’m okay Coley. I swear. Plus I don’t want to ruin your night,” I sniffle pulling back from him. He goes to protest but the arrival of a pretty redhead halts the conversation.
“Hi. Uhm I don’t mean to interrupt but I was wondering if you wanted to dance,” she asked looking towards Cole and then me. I could see her starting to freak out thinking we were together but I quickly spoke up. “He would love to,” I say pushing him towards her. “You sure you are gonna be okay,” he asks looking back at me. “Of course I am. Now go dance before she changes her mind,” I laugh and the girl pulls me out on the dance floor.
“Jamie is gonna take me back to the house,” I say giving the guys hugs. When I got to Mason I gave him a quick one and he smiled,” I may not have known you as long as these guys, but say the word, and whoever it was is done for.” I laughed and thanked him before stepping back and looking up at Jamie. “You ready,” he asks and I nod. He wraps his arm around my waist and slips a finger through my belt loop keeping me close to his side. We make it back to my car and I stop. “Hey they can ride back with Z,” Jamie says opening the passenger door for me.
I nod and get into the car. He rounds the front of my car and slips into the driver's seat. He doesn’t push or try and force me to talk. He turns on the radio a little and starts to drive. “You mind if we make a quick stop,” he asks looking over at me when we hit a red light. “Sure,” I say smiling when he gets excited. He pulls into a 7/11 and looks over at me. I quirk my eyebrow at him and he jumps out of the car. He opens my door and puts his hand out for me to grab. “C’mon. Trust me,” he smiles and leads us into the gas station. We stop in front of the slurpees and he grabs two cups.
“Whenever I was sad growing up,” he starts filling up his cup with the cherry flavor,” my mom would bring me to the 7/11 down the road from our house.” I smiled at how incredibly sweet he was. “It always made me feel better when I was a kid, so I was hoping it would help you.” I leaned up and kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Jamie. This is the sweetest anyone has done for me in a while,” I say taking the cups from him and filling it up with the blue slurpee. “Solid choice,” he laughs paying for the both of them. I protest but it falls on deaf ears.
We get back to the car and just sit and drink our cold treats. “Thank you,” I say looking over at him. He raises his eyebrows and tilts his head a little bit. He looks like a cute puppy when he does that. “Why are you thanking me,” he asked setting his drink down. “You didn’t force me to talk about it. You are just a really good guy, Jamie,” I say looking into his eyes. “Z is an idiot,” he says looking over at me. “Who said Trevor is the one who made me cry,” I ask.
“I heard the conversation earlier. I was getting you a drink and heard him laugh and got pissed off at him. So I walked away and back to the table, then you came back,” he says reaching over and grabbing my hand. I looked down at his lips and then back up to his eyes. I started to lean in just a little and he got the clue and went to close the distance. His phone ringing ruined our moment. It was Mason calling him. “What Mase,” he asked with an attitude. I couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Oh hey Z,” he says looking over at me.
“Yeah, we’re cool. We made a quick stop but we are on our way. Yeah okay man,” he says shortly and hangs up. “They are all back at the house wondering how they beat us,” he laughs. I smile over at him and he starts the car. When we pull out onto the highway I reach over and put my hand over his on the console. He laces our fingers and moves his thumb along my hand
“Well would you look what the cat drug in,” I hear Jack say as we walk through the door. “You guys left like twenty minutes before us,” Alex says waiting for an explanation. I hold up my drink and he whines. “No fair. If I had known that you guys were stopping I would have gone with you,” he pouts. I laugh and give him the rest of my drink. “Also you guys missed Trev completely striking out with the bartender,” Cole laughs and Z walks into the room.
He looks over and sees Jamie and me sitting on the end of the couch together and looks confused. “I didn’t strike out,” he grumbled sitting next to me. “Oh yeah, he did, crashed and burned,” Jack laughed. “Get this she had a boyfriend and was just flirting for tips like we said,” Mason added. “That’s okay who needs her when I already have my best girl,” he says poking my side waiting on me to fall at his feet. “I don’t know Z. From where I am sitting she kinda looks like Jimmy’s best girl,” Mason smirked and wiggled his eyebrows.
Trevor looked between the two of us and waited for one of us to say something. I looked over at Jamie who smiled down at me and bumped my shoulder. I shook my head and laughed. We turned on a movie and slowly I started to drift off and cuddled into Jamie’s side. “Hey Jame? Can you promise me one thing,” Trevor says getting up and looking down at us. “What’s the promise,” Jamie asked. “Appreciate her better than I did,” he said smiling at the two of us.

How would Battinson react to his kids, his babies, dating, and growing up?
The first was Dick. He saw the growing embers of something more than friendship between him and Wally. The longing stares when one thought no one was looking, the longer than necessary touching, the blushes. It seemed like everyone could see but those two, and it was cute.
It stopped being cute when Dick entered his office one afternoon. Bruce hadn’t known what personal space was since Dick got comfortable with him. Dick would frequently invade it by jumping on Bruce’s back for an impromptu piggyback ride, though those were things of the past the older and bigger Dick got, or just giving him a bear hug.
But this was different. The way he actually walked rather than ran, the way his demeanor was more closed off and hesitant rather than open and relaxed like it usually was.
He walked to meet Dick halfway, abandoning his work. He gently held his shoulders.
“What’s wrong, Chum?”
Dick took a deep breath, in and out. “I have a boyfriend! It's Wally.” He blurted out and looked at Bruce.
Bruce saw fleeting hope of acceptance, of love in Dick’s eyes. But he also saw uncertainty of rejection in them too.
“That’s great, chum. Who confessed first?” Bruce was happy for Dick, he deserved happiness, especially in their line of work. But a small part of him felt bitter about it.
Not Wally himself, he knew the kid for years and he was a good one. But of what he represented, his birds were growing up and leaving the nest. Leaving him. Now, Bruce was happy to see his children growing into themselves. However, he feels like he isn’t needed anymore.
Why would they need a protector, who isn’t even that good at it anyway, when they showed again and again that they can provide for themselves?
The announcement reminded him of Jaime and Jason, he liked him and Damian certainly did, but his kids’ were leaving. Like, today Jason and Damian canceled dinner to be with Jamie and his family for dinner.
But this wasn’t about how Bruce feels. So even if it was bittersweet he listened to Dick rave about Wally.
Giving Bruce so much detail, he wasn't sure if this even was the same person, but he guessed being childhood best friends are different from being boyfriend.
“Alfred, have you seen Tim? He is not in the Cave or his room.” They were working on a hard and gruesome case, and just when Tim was healing from that nasty cut he got last night. Bruce knows how Tim gets when they have cases like these. He would work from day to night until he gets an answer, and that is if he doesn't fall asleep first. Even if he was recovering, and that missing spleen of his didn’t make things better.
It was one of the many things he neglected to teach Tim when he was first Robin, to have a good work-life balance, not that Bruce could talk but still, too filled with grief to see. But he is making a change, and that is starting with getting Tim to bed.
“No, I haven't, Master Bruce,” the butler answers, “but I’ll be on the lookout for him.”
Bruce gave a nod and continued to search the Manor looking for his son. He’d done this before, hiding from Bruce, because he knew what will happen. It’s childish and oftentimes annoying but a tiny part likes taking care of Tim. Tucking him into bed, kissing him on the forehead, and closing the door slowly.
Eventually, he does find Tim, he’s in Bruce’s room. His black hair, which was in that middle stage of looking long while short, looked like a bird’s nest and his eyes were dazed like he had taken a nap. His disheveled sheets and blankets were evidence of that.
“Good afternoon, Timmy.” Bruce greets him with a small smile.
Tim blinked at him like an owl and he came to his senses slowly. He looked like a misbehaving child who got caught red-handed with contraband cookies.
“Shit!”
“Language” Bruce corrected automatically. Raising kids for years will do that to you, especially Jason and Duke.
“Sh– shot! Sorry B I'll go.”
Bruce leaped forward to stop Tim’s frantic movements. “Tim, you don't have to leave or anything. I'm fine with you staying in my bed. I was just looking for you all over to take a break. But I see you’re already doing that..”
Red paints over Tim’s ears and neck and attempts to look away from them. “Well duh, I'm not a kid anymore B.”
His last all-nighter was 2 days ago. Duke found him in the dining chair.
Tim looks him straight in the eyes, “I heard you talking to Alfred. I was worrying you with my bad self-care habits and I decided to grow up. Besides, I can't live how I used to, especially without my spleen.”
Now it was Bruce’s turn to look surprised. He thought he would never see the day. But why are tears threatening to spill out then? Why was there a hole forming in his heart then? He should be happy, his children are growing into fine young men and women. So why....?
“Woah, woah, Bruce!” Tim’s alert voice yelled for him, breaking Bruce from his thoughts to see that tears were actually forming.
“Oh, don't mind me,” he shrugged Tim off and blinked the tears away. “I have some work that needs to get done, so you go rest up.” Bruce pushed Tim into the bed and tucked him into the covers, kissing him on the forehead, and closing the door slowly. A routine he’s done multiple times with multiple children, and his mind wonders when they’ll ask him to stop doing that.
He ignored Tim’s shouts to come back and closed the door. He walks aimlessly through the quiet and empty manor. It’s been ages since the building was filled with sound and laughter, now it sits in silence. So quiet Bruce can hear his footsteps echoing throughout the halls when 2 months ago he couldn’t even hear what Duke was saying while Tim and Damien engaged in their weekly arguments about everything and anything.
Oh, Duke. Gotham’s daytime vigilante, one of her many victims. He came to Bruce unsure in everything he was doing but nowadays he’s grown sure in his actions. On the last patrol, Tim had gotten hurt badly and the only way out was for Duke to drive. He didn't need Bruce or Babara to guide him.
His kids were growing up, and soon, they wouldn't need him anymore.

Prologue One Two Three Four Five Six
When I got the call that Rebecca’s father had passed and that we would all be going to the funeral, I didn’t know exactly how to react. Daddy issues aside, what was I meant to wear? What do you say to someone who’s father passed? I was never good at these types of things.
I came late, purposefully. Trying to avoid as much awkward small talk as possible. As I stood outside the church, I felt my palms getting sweaty. The last funeral I’d been to… well let’s just say it hadn’t gone well. Man, I could really use Ted right now.
I walked in quietly, trying not to attract attention. Unfortunately, the door closed much hard behind me, making a rather large noise as it closed. It caught the attention of Keely who was standing with Sassy inside.
“Hey babes!” She greeted, reaching out her hand to me. “Welcome to the party.” I grabbed her hand and entered the group, giving her a side hug. “I thought this was a funeral.”
“Holy shit, your tits look great!” Sassy complimented, motioning to her chest.
I looked down subconsciously, trying to fix my dress to cover up my cleavage “Oh, is it too much?”
“Definitely not.” Keely reached up and adjusted my dress again, so it was back to how it was originally. “You look great.”
“Oi, what were you saying about Rebecca secretly dating someone?” Sassy interrupted. I turned wide-eye to Keely.
“Rebecca’s dating someone?” I removed my arm from around Keely and turned so I was standing next to Sassy. “And you didn’t tell me?”
“I don’t know anything for sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s been going on for like weeks now,” Keely whispered. Now that she mentioned it, Rebecca had been acting differently. She wasn’t coming out as much or spending as much time in the locker room. It was like she was hiding something.
“Now.” Sassy’s eyes gained a mischievous look on her face. “Is today an inappropriate day to inquire/badger her into telling us who?”
“We’ll never know unless we try!” Keely responded, giggling. Suddenly her gaze turned warning as she looked over my shoulder.
“Keely.” Jamie’s voice surprised me from behind. I turned around and was surprised to see him in a suit, with a shirt on underneath.
“Jamie. Wow! Nice suit!” She greeted, turning to see him. Then as Jan and Nate approached as well “All of you. Look at you!”
I felt like my voice was caught in my throat. This was a funeral, a really bad time to be thirsting over Jamie but he just looked so damn good. I swallowed hard, glancing down at his feet.
“And no trainers! On any of you,” I chimed in. “Making me proud.”
Jamie looked surprised when he saw me, and I didn’t miss the way his eyes darted down and back up.  “Hi (Y/N). I didn’t see you come in.”
Ever since the night club, I’d tried to avoid Jamie as much as possible. I woke up the next morning, unfortunately sober, and remembered how lose my lips were the night before. And the fact that we had almost nearly kissed on the dance floor. Our morning practices were short and I had begun taking my lunches with Keely and Roy to avoid spending anymore unnecessary one-on-one time with Jamie.
It hurt, of course, to be away from him. I had become really attached to him and his presence in my life. I don’t know if he felt it, but to me it was like there was a giant Jamie sized hole missing.
I glanced over at the door. “Oh, yeah, I was… late, I guess.”
“Well, you look great,” he commented. “It’s a nice… err… dress.”
“Yes, your breasts look very nice in that dress,” Jan agreed, giving me a warm smile.
Jamie turned and smacked Jan on the back of the head. “Now is not the time to be commenting on her breasts, twat.”
“Oh! I did not mean to be offensive.” In his defense he did look apologetic. Well, as apologetic as the Dutch man could muster. “I simply meant your dress fits you well.”
“And Nate!” Thank God, for Keely. “Is that the suit that Ted got you.”
“What, this?” He looked surprised by the question.
            “Yeah!”
“Um, I can’t remember… uh, yes! Yeah,” he stumbled through his answer.
I nodded at him. “it’s a really nice suit!”
“Another man buying you clothes is infantilizing, yes?” Jan Maas interjected, a curious look on his face. There was an awkward pause as we all tried to figure out how to answer.
“Fucks sake,” Jamie muttered. He turned to me. “Want to go find a seat?”
I glanced over at Keely. She had heard all about that night from me and had insisted that it was a sign. She was fully on the (Y/N) x Jamie train and told me that I just HAD to confess my feelings for him in the most romantic way possible. I, however, felt like every time I spoke with Jamie, I ended up sticking my foot in my mouth.
Right now, she was giving me a not-so-subtle signal to go with him. God, why did it have to be a funeral.
“Sure! Let’s go. Let’s go find a seat!” I said, coolly. Though not that coolly. More, oddly than coolly.  But Jamie didn’t seem to notice as he started to lead me further down the aisle. I turned back to look at Keely who was giving me a big thumbs up. As if I would confess my feelings to Jamie right now. ‘Hey Jamie, I know there’s a dead body in front of us, but do you want to make out with me and have lots and lots of babies?’ Didn’t exactly roll off the tongue did it.
He stared quietly ahead of us at the crucifix above the alter. I couldn’t read his face. I wish I could tell what he was thinking in this moment. But instead, I found myself looking over the delicate features of his face. His eyes, his mouth, his lips. I was going to burn in hell.
“I didn’t know you owned a dress shirt, Jamie,” I decided on saying, giving him a smile.
“I didn’t. Had to go buy one,” he told me, looking down at his shirt. “Did you know that you can buy these in bulk for like 20 quid?”
“Yeah… yeah I did know that.”
“Fucking wild,” he muttered. “Had to go with Colin and Dani to a shoe store down the street to get dress shoes.”
I was suddenly overwhelmed with softness at the thought. The boys all got together and decided to come to this all on their own. They came, dressed to the occasion, to support their owner even though she didn’t ask them to.
“Well, it means a lot,” I said, softly. “To Rebecca, that you all came.”
He looked over at me and shrugged. “Yeah well… we’s a family, ain’t we?”
He truly was a completely different person than when we first met. I knew that, but it really hit me in this moment. I opened my mouth to respond to him when we were interrupted by Spanish cursing. Dani came up from behind us, praying and cursing under his breath.
“I hate dress shoes so much, Jamie,” he whined, leaning on Jamie for support.
“I know, muchacho,” Jamie responded sympathetically. “Cause remembers, they ain’t made for people like us. They’re made for sheep. They’re made for Muggles. They’re made for twats.”
“Thank you for your sacrifice, Dani,” I encouraged.
“When I get home, I will set them on fire, and their memory will burn in hell.”
Jamie and I stared at each other. “Jesus, Dani.”
Dani looked at us, an incredulous look on his face. “Jesus has no place in the conversation of these damn shoes.”
With that he began limping forward, resuming his frantic praying. I watched him leave, feeling his pain from where I was standing.
I suddenly felt really hot and my palms began to sweat again. Then in an instant, my heart began to race as a sense of panic washed over me.
“You alright?” Jamie’s voice broke through my sweat.
I swallowed, trying to get some moisture back in my throat. “Uh, yeah, I’m fine I just… I need to step outside.”
I began to walk off towards a side door. I turned over my shoulder and saw Jamie watching after me, concern lacing his face. Got I wanted to go back and hold him. Tell him everything that was bothering me and let him comfort me. But now was not the time or the place. Instead, I pressed on and walked outside.
As I did, it felt like I was coming up for air after taking a dive into the deep in. I covered my face as I tried to ground myself in the current moment. If only Ted was here. He would know how to help me right now.
Suddenly, I heard loud laughter. I looked around for the source of the noise and saw a back room. I wandered over to the room and saw inside Keely, Sassy, and Rebecca along with her mother and Nora.
“What is going on in here?” I laughed, coming in to join them.
Keely stood up and clapped her hands. “Someone is secretly shagging a footballer!”
I gave Keely a look, there was no way they were talking about Jamie and me. “We aren’t shagging!”
There was silence in the room as the women a looked at each other. Then they burst out into another round of squeals and screaming. I looked around, realizing my mistake. They were not talking about me.
“Wait, wait, if you weren’t talking about me, then who-“
“No, you’re not getting out of this,” Rebecca cut me off, pointing at me. “Who are you talking about?”
“Rebecca is shagging Sam,” Keely blurted out, giggling like a toddler.
My mouth dropped. Not what I was expecting. “Wait, what?”
“Shut it, Keely, that is old news! Tell us who you are shagging.” Sassy tugged on my arm, practically pulling out of its socket.
I waved my hands around, trying to get my mind wrapped around the situation. “Okay, so Rebecca is shagging Sam, which is true. And I’m not shagging anyone, which is also true.”
“But you implied that you SOMETHING going on with someone else,” Nora pointed out. I glared at her. “What! I’m just saying!”
I looked over at Keely, begging for any kind of help in the situation but she was too caught up in the excitement to offer a diversion. Sassy came over and grabbed my arm.
“C’mon, anything you say in here, stays in here, we promise, right?” She comforted looking around at the other women for encouragement. I don’t know how much I trusted Sassy though. She could be a bit unpredictable, but honestly, I felt so safe in this room with these women. And fuck it, I was having a bad day.
“Okay…” I wavered, closing my eyes. “I have serious feelings for Jamie.”
The room broke out into screams of excitement, a thousand questions being thrown my way. I glanced over at Keely who was just smiling at me. Luckily, before I could start answering questions, the vicar came in and kicked all of us out.
Rebecca gave me a look that said We’ll talk later, and we walked out. Keely caught up to me and locked out arms together.
“You doing alright, babes?” She asked, tugging on my arm a bit.
“Me? Yeah. I’m doing great!” I shrugged, looking straight towards the church. “I mean who doesn’t love a good funeral.”
“Not me,” she grumbled. “Roy’s been giving me a hard time all day. I hate death.”
I laughed. “Bold statement, ‘I hate death.’”
“I don’t need shit from you too!” She protested, but she was smiling just as well.
We reentered the church and Keely went to join Roy. I started to make my way to the back of the church where I could sit in one of the empty aisles when I heard someone whisper call my name. I looked around and saw Jamie waving at me. When he saw he got my attention, he pointed to an empty spot next to him. He saved me a seat. My heart fluttered as I made my way over to him. He scooted down to give me a bit more room as I side stepped through the aisle past Isaac.
“Thanks for saving me a seat,” I murmured to him.
“Don’t mention it,” He replied. “I just got sick of listening to this one.” He pointed over to Dani who was sitting across the aisle. “I don’t know what padre he’s praying to, but I hope he fucking listens.”
I snorted, covering my mouth to keep my laugh in. Jamie smiled down at me as I regained my composure. I looked over at him and nudged him with my shoulder.
            “You’re ridiculous.”
The funeral was interesting to say the least. Rebecca gave a unique but moving eulogy to her father that contained more Rick Astley than I was expecting and afterwards we all went back to Rebecca’s place for a reception.
Somehow, I lost Jamie. He started acting weird after the eulogy, like he was deep in thought. Which for Jamie, was never a good sign. Once we got to the house, he completely disappeared from me. I instead, found myself rounding the snacks table by myself.
“(Y/N) (L/N)!” Ted’s cheerful voice came from behind me. I was relieved to hear him. As much as he could get on my nerves with his constant optimism, right now, it was exactly what I needed. When I turned and saw him, I felt myself overwhelmed with emotion. Despite his voice, his eyes were sad.
“Hi Ted.” My response came out hoarser than I meant it to.
His eyes immediately flooded with concern. “Hey, you alright?” That was a question I had heard a lot today.  ‘You Alright’. And I kept saying yes. Despite the turmoil in my head about the millions of emotions I was feeling about today. About funerals. About fathers.  But hey, join the daddy issues club, I guess.
“Yeah,” I assured him, thinking on the issue. “My dad died six months before I started at Richmond.”
Ted raised his eyebrows at me as he took in my statement. I hadn’t told anyone that in my time at Richmond. I’d barely told anyone outside my family. But I told my dad that I got my job and a month later he was dead.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know that,” Ted consoled, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
I shrugged. “I haven’t told anyone. But… the funeral… it’s just…”
“Brought up memories?” Ted offered. At my look, he let out a breathy laugh. “Join the club.”
I wasn’t sure exactly what he was referencing but I’m sure it was his explanation for showing up late today. I decided not to press further and opted instead to pass him a beer bottle.
“To dads?” I beckoned, holding my own beer up to his.
“To dads!” He joined. Then paused for adding. “And to the things we left unsaid.”
I held my drink for a second thinking on his words before taking a sip of my beer. As I did, I finally found Jamie. He was walking across the living room to approach Keely. Everything that had happened between us in the past few months went through my head in an instant. From the early morning practices to the encouragement during training, to the bus ride and the club. He was someone I wanted in my life for the foreseeable future. He was someone I wanted in my life permenantly.
Things left unsaid.
“If you’ll excuse me a moment, Ted.”
I didn’t listen for his response and instead walked straight towards Jamie. I was going to do it. I was going to tell him. His back was to me as he chatted with Keely and I approached walking quickly, with a purpose. As I got closer, Is started to hear what he was saying.
“I didn’t just come back to Richmond to get away from me dad. I also came back ‘cause of you.” It felt like all the air in my lungs was knocked out of my in an instance. Keely’s face was frozen in one of shock as he spoke to her. “I finally think that I’m becoming the best version of meself, the kind of man that you always knew that I could be.” He was saying all the right things. All the wonderful things I had been thinking about him for weeks now. He was saying all the right things, just not to me. “And I know that this is a mad, shitty thing to do, but… I love you, Keely.”
Keely’s eyes lowered a bit and finally they met my eyes. My brain couldn’t process exactly what was happening. The relationship I had created with Jamie truly was all in my head. I had created the idea that he had leaned in to kiss me that night. It was all a lie.
Before he could turn around, I left. I left as fast as my feet could take me and get outside. My palms were sweaty again and that feeling of panic that I had felt in the church returned. I finally made it out the front door and took a big gulp of fresh air. I sat down on the porch and shoved my head in my hands, trying to ground myself once again. Vaguely, I heard the door opening behind me. I knew it was Keely without even having to look.
“(Y/N), I… I’m so, so, sorry,” she said as she sat down next to me. “I have no idea where that came from.”
“No, it’s alright, it’s not your fault.” I felt a laugh bubble it way out my chest. “It’s all my fault! It really is.” Keely looked at me like I was crazy. “I’m used to this! I’m used to getting my heart broken. I’m used to hearing the ‘love is a lie’ speech from my friends.” Finally, I took my head out of my hands and rested my chin in my hands. “But… it just feels different this time.”
And with that the laugh left my voices as my disappointment caught up with me and it was replaced by a sob. I covered my mouth, surprised by the noise that had just come out of it. Then my lip was shaking, and my eyes were shimmering with unshed tears.
            “Oh, (Y/N)…” Keely cooed.
She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into her. I rested my head on her shoulder and let myself cry.

Domestic Arkos Role Reversal
Pyrrha: *distressed, reading the mail* Oh, no! I lost another sponsorship! And just when huntress jobs are running short, too!
Jaune: *wraps Pyrrha in a hug* Darn, that’s too bad. I guess I can go back to my old job being a crossing guard to make ends meet and you can stay home with Jamie for now?
Pyrrha: I suppose it would be nice to spend time at home with our son…
Pyrrha: Okay, let’s do it!
———————————————————————
Jaune: *heading out the door* Love you both! Be good for your mom, Jamie! Remember to call me if you need help, okay?
Pyrrha: Don’t worry so much! Hurry up or you’ll be late!
Pyrrha: Well, it looks like it’s just you and your mother today, right sweetheart? *looks down at Arkos son*
Jamie: *already has gum in his hair* 😀
Pyrrha: 🤦‍♀️…this day is not off to a good start…
———————————————————————
Pyrrha: *struggling with pot roast recipe and slow cooker instructions* Wait, is “warm” a higher or lower heat than “low?”
*Smoke alarm goes off*
———————————————————————
Pyrrha: *steps on lego while playing with Jamie*
Pyrrha: 😫 FU-
Jamie: 🙂 ?
Pyrrha: *clamps a hand over her mouth and muffles her agonized scream*
———————————————————————
Pyrrha: *pushing grocery cart and reading shopping list*
Pyrrha: How can two adults and a five-year-old need seven pages of groceries?
Pyrrha: And what on Remnant is tarragon?!
———————————————————————
Pyrrha: *removes laundry from dryer*
Pyrrha: *holds up shrunken shirt* 😟
Pyrrha: …Jamie, sweetie, how would you like one of your father’s old shirts?
Jamie: 🙃
———————————————————————
Jamie: *running around happily with the other children at the park*
Pyrrha: *slumps on a bench* Ugh…how can one little boy have so much energy…? 😮‍💨
Pyrrha: Maybe I can just rest here for a minute…
Pyrrha: 😴
Random Mother: …excuse me? Miss? Isn’t that your son?
Pyrrha: *cracks open one eye* …bwuh…?
Jamie: *on top of jungle gym, losing his balance*
Jamie: 🫨
Pyrrha: 😱
Pyrrha: *launches herself off the bench into a diving catch*
Pyrrha: *heart hammering* Are you okay?!
Jamie: 🥺 *small nod*
Pyrrha: *flops on the ground clutching her son*
———————————————————————
Pyrrha: *holding napping Jamie on her shoulder during PTA meeting*
Jamie: 😪 *drools a bit on Pyrrha’s shirt*
Pyrrha: I’ve never been so bored in my life…🥱
———————————————————————
Jaune: *opens door to Arkos house* Hello! I’m home!
Jamie: Daddy! *runs to the door*
Jaune: Hey, there’s my little guy! *scoops up his son as he walks inside* How was your day with mommy?
Jamie: We went to the park! Mommy’s sleepy though!
Pyrrha: *passed out on the couch with disheveled hair, stains on her shirt, and a pile of half-opened bills on her lap as her son’s favorite cartoon plays on the tv* 😴
Jaune: *bends down and gently shakes Pyrrha’s shoulder* Pyr? How are you doing?
Pyrrha: *snorts and jerks awake* What? Huh? Jamie, be careful with that-!
Pyrrha: Oh, Jaune…! Welcome home! How was work? 🥱
Jaune: *adjusts Jamie in his arms* Just like I remembered! Helping kids cross the street, politely telling some of the moms that I’m very taken! 😁
Pyrrha: *exhausted pout* I’m much too tired for jokes, Jaune…😣
Jaune: Okay, okay! Let me put my stuff away and we’ll see about dinner!
Jamie: Pizza? 😃
Jaune: *looks at the stack of dishes in the kitchen with burnt-on food* …yeah, sure little guy! Go wash your hands and daddy will order pizza.
Jamie: 😄 *happily runs to the bathroom*
Pyrrha: *slowly gets up and walks face-first into Jaune’s shoulder* …how do you do it…? I’ve trained for the arena for years and fought Grimm bigger than our house, but I’m so tired after one day at home with my own son…! 😭
Jaune: *wraps Pyrrha in a hug* Don’t worry, Pyr! It just takes some practice! Besides, it’s only until you get another huntress job and get back to being a hero!
Pyrrha: *mumbles into Jaune’s chest* …If you can do this every day while I’m at work, you’re the REAL hero…!
Jaune: Hey, I’m just the loving house husband of Pyrrha Freaking Nikos! I’m sure everyone will be calling you “The Invincible Mom” within the week!
Pyrrha: …
Jaune: …Pyr…?
Pyrrha: *asleep against Jaune* 😴
Jaune: *scoops up exhausted Pyrrha*
Jaune: …she has gum in her hair…

warnings: mentions of swearing, a bit angsty
Tumblr media
It's Just A Game
It was a late night. Jamie had an away game tonight. So he was going to come home late tonight.
I was relaxing on the couch before he got home. It would be a lot longer. So I thought.
The sound of the door opening startled me. It was Jamie. He usually tells me when he gets off the plane. I guess today he didn't. He didn't say anything when he walked in.
"Hey baby." I said while smiling and getting up to go great him.
No response from him. He just put his stuff on the table and stayed silent. Maybe he didn't hear me.
"Jamie...?" My voice grew softer ans weaker.
"What!" He snapped at me. Wow. I didn't realize he had that in him.
Speechless. I couldn't even speak. I just looking at him. I wasn't going to cry. I was just going to stand there speechless. Words couldn't come out even though I tried.
"Shit...(y/n) I'm sorry. I just had a rough game." He sighs.
"It's okay." I told him.
He was very emotional right now. I've seen him mad but this wasn't that. I could tell her was stressed and angry. Tears started to form in his eyes.
Without exchanging any words I just put my hands out for him. In an instant he came to my arms.
We wrapped each other's arms around each other. Just standing there hugging. Jamie buried his head in between my neck and my shoulder.
I could hear him silently crying. I didn't mind. I know it was hard for him on days like this. I just have to be there for him.
"It's okay. I'm right here." I say while rubbing his back with one of my hands.
All I could hear in the background was an episode of friends that I was watching before he came home. That was out favorite show to watch together.
"Do you want to go on the couch and talk?" I spoke softly.
His response to that was a nod. I felt his head move up and down as a yes.
"Come on then." I let go of him and wiped the tears from his face. Then walking over to the couch.
He walked over and sat on the couch. I grabbed a blanket and sat down next to him. I wrapped the blanket around us.
Imminently after he came close to me and pulled me close to him. I layed on the side of him while he held him.
We both where watching TV in silence. He started to calm down more. I could hear him stop crying.
"You feeling better?" I looked up at him. He looked so much better than he did before.
"Much better." He looked down at me and put a small smile on his face. Causing a chain reaction of me to putting one on mine.

"Uncle Jamie!" Aries yells, barreling into the house. "Uncle Reggie!"
"Calm down, little one." James says while cooking.
"But, Uncle Jamie."
"Rose and Lillian are still sleeping. Quiet."
"Where's Uncle Reggie?"
"Still sleeping."
Marlene walks into the kitchen. "Hey, Jamie. Where is everyone?"
"Sleeping. You're the only ones that arrive a day early."
"Sorry." Marlene says sarcastically. "I just miss your cooking."
"You mean you miss Mum' cooking."
"Yeah. Yeah, I do."
"James!" Dorcas yells. "Where's Reg!"
"Up in our room!"
"He's still sleeping!?"
"Yeah!"
"Thanks! I'll be back!"
"She's going to go wake him up, isn't she?"
"Artemis probably went with her." Marlene says. "But, yeah. She is."
"Aunt Marls!" Rose yells and runs up to hug her.
"What are you doing up?"
"She's a light sleeper lately. All the yelling probably woke her up." James says.
"When are Mum and Mama getting here?" She asks, pulling apart from Marlene.
"Tomorrow."
Rose groans. "But I want to see them."
"I know. You'll have to wait."
"What about Uncle Barty and Uncle Evan?"
"Tomorrow. Like always."
"Dad!" Lillian' voice yells from the other room.
"In the kitchen!"
Lillian comes walking in the kitchen. "Hey Aries. Auntie Marls. Dad, I'm hungry."
"What do you think I'm doing?"
"Talking with Aunt Marls."
"James, phone." Regulus says, walking into the kitchen with Dorcas trailing behind.
"Marls?"
"Yep, got it." Marlene takes over James' cooking and grabs the phone from Regulus.
"Hello?"
"Jamie!!!" Lily' voice yells over the phone.
"Jesus. Don't scream in my ear like that, Lils."
"Sorry. Anyway, we just wanted to call you to let you know we're on our way."
"On your way here?"
"Yeah. Marls does it."
"Yeah, I know that. I just didn't think you would want to come today."
"I didn't. Harry did. And Mar gave in."
"Hey! Don't blame this on me." Mary yells from the other end at her wife.
"Anyway, we'll be there in 10."
"Yeah, ok. See you soon." The line goes dead.
"What did Lils want?" Regulus asks.
"Their coming early."
"Mm."
***
"Dad! Dada!" Harry' voice comes from the front door.
"Harry, calm down. Their probably in the dining room." Lily says. "Go get 'em."
Harry comes running in and goes right for James. James picks him up and sets him on his lap. Lily and Mary come in a few seconds later. "Hey, Mar, Lils. Tired?"
"Can we switch kids?" Mary asks. "He's tiring." She says, pointing at Harry. "Plus, he seems to like you more."
"And he looks exactly like him." Marlene says.
"You already know why he looks like me. Just like Rose and Lillian looks like Lils. Plus, he looks like both of us, Mar. Doesn't he?"
"I guess. He looks a lot like you, though."
"Mama, Mum!" Rose yells while running to Mary and Lily. Mary picks her up while Lily picks up Lillian. "Dad! You said they weren't coming today."
"I didn't know."
"Yeah, you did." Lillian says. "I heard you talking to Mum on the phone."
James rolls his eyes. Regulus smiles. "She likes to eavesdrop."
"She's seven. What'd you expect?" Marlene asks. "Aries does it all the time."
"I do not!" Aries yells defensively.
Dorcas gives Marlene a knowing look. "Yeah, sure, you don't."
"See, Mum! Mama believes me!"
Marlene gasps. "She does?"
"Mmh."
"That's very rude of her."
-
***
"Mama' home!"
"Auntie Dora!" Rose yells.
"Not even going to notice me?" Emmeline asks.
"I'll notice you, Auntie Lin." Lillian says.
"Thank you, my dear daughter."
"Not your daughter!" Regulus yells from the couch.
"That's what you think, Dada." Regulus sticks his tongue out at his daughter.
"That's not very nice, Uncle Reggie." Luna says.
"I'm sorry. I won't ever do it again." Regulus sticks his arms out for a hug, and Luna runs up to him to give him one.
"Where's James?" Emmeline asks.
"Cooking, like always. Marlene, Dorcas, Mary, and Lily are still sleeping. Aries, Artemis, and Harry are somewhere."
"Mary and Lily arrived yesterday, too?" Pandora asks.
"Suprised me, too. And James." Regulus turns to Luna. "You should go find Aries, Harry, and Artemis."
Luna gasps and runs into the kitchen. "There she goes."
***
"The cool aunts are here!"
"I hate to tell you, but you're not cool, Bel." Regulus says.
"That's very rude if you, Reg."
"Where's Rita?"
"Helping Cissa and Andy."
Rita walks in with Neville. "Yeah, thanks for helping."
"You're welcome, love." Rita rolls her eyes.
Andy comes in after with Ted and Nymphadora. "My daughter is an angel."
Narcissa comes in after with her wife, Alice, and their kids, Draco and Lila. Regulus smiles. "Really? Dora, Lila, Neville, Draco, the kids are playing hide and seek. Go find 'em." All four scream and run upstairs.
"Bitch."
"Who you callin' a bitch?" Sirius asks walking in with Remus and their son, Teddy. "Is it Bella? Cause if it is, then it's true."
"It's your brother." Narcissa says.
Sirius gasps. "My brother is not a bitch."
Remus covers Teddy' ears. "Sirius, language."
Sirius leans down to his son and says, "Go find the kids." Teddy immediately bults upstairs. "Better?" Remus rolls his eyes.
***
"Guess who's here!"
"Is it my best friend?" Remus asks.
"How did you know?"
"Don't ask silly questions, Pete." Frank says, walking in behind him.
"Fair."
***
"Your fav Zabini is here!"
"Yeah!"
"With your fav person of all time!"
Regulus shakes his head. "You two are like two peas in a pod."
Emma leans down to Blaise. "Go find everyone." He runs upstairs. "There now it's just us grown-ups."
"I wouldn't call you a grown-up." Ophelia says.
"Whatever."
***
"Where's Uncle Barty and Uncle Evan?" Aries asks.
"Probably -"
Marlene clamps her hand over Sirius' mouth. "Don't finish that sentence." She turns to Aries. "They'll be here soon." Aries nods his head and goes back upstairs.
A few minutes later, the door opens, and Barty and Evan walk in. "Ok, their either drunk or just horny."
Evan thinks. "Both."
Regulus rolls his eyes. "You two are late."
"And?" Barty asks.
"You were supposed to be here 2 hours ago." Ted says.
"Ok?"
"It's fine." Alice says. "As long as their here now."
"Al, I think you need to start thinking more." Narcissa says. "Something could have happened to us, and they wouldn't have been here."
"But nothing did happen, did it?"
"I could have killed you." Bellatrix says.
"What do you have against me?"
"You married my sister, and her kids have both your DNA."
Alice rolls her eyes. "That's not a good enough reason."
"That's what you think."
Just then, there were footsteps on the stairs. "Dad! Are Uncle Barty and Uncle Evan here yet?" Lillian asks.
"I don't know!" James yells back. "I think I heard the door open, though!"
"Dada!"
"Yes! Their here!" Regulus yells back.
"Guys! Uncle Barty and Uncle Evan are here!" A bunch of footsteps and all the kids come down.
"Uncle Barty!" Lila yells.
"Uncle Evan!" Nymphadora yells.
***
"Christmas dinner is ready!" James yells from the kitchen.
Regulus looks at the clock that reads 5pm. He's been cooking for how long? "Jesus christ, James." He wispers to himself.
Barty heard him. "What?"
"Nothing."
"No, tell me."
Regulus sighs. "I have no idea what time he woke up, but he's been cooking since, at least, 7am."
"Hey, James! What time did you wake up today!"
"Six! I started cooking dinner around eight!"
Barty walks in the kitchen. "Why'd you wake up at six then?"
"Breakfast. Cooked lunch in between, somewhere."
"Have you eaten anything?"
"Yeah. I'll be right back." James goes up the stairs.
Everyone sat down at the table and started eating. James still hasn't come down yet. Regulus gets up. "I'll be right back."
Regulus walks up the stairs and in their room. James is lying down on the bed, sleeping. "Oh, Jamie." Regulus lays down beside him, and James snuggles into him.
Rose and Lillian come in a little while later and lays down with them. They all fall asleep.
***
Regulus wakes up and checks the clock.
8:45
He checks the bed, and Lillian, Rose, and James are still sleeping. "Lillian, Rose. Come on. Up."
"What's wrong, Dada?" Rose asks.
"Come on. Let's go eat."
"I am hungry." Lillian says.
"Yeah? Go down, we'll meet you down there."
"Kk." They both shuffle out of bed and scurry out the door.
"Mon soleil. Come on, get up." James groans and pushes himself more into Regulus. "Allez. Se lever."
"No. No, you can't do that. You know what that does to me." James says groggily.
"That's exactly why I said it."
James groans again and gets up. "We're continuing this later, got it?" Regulus nods. "Good."
"Oh my god! Sleepy heads!" Marlene yells as soon as they get downstairs.
"Shut up." James says. "You're too loud."
"Not my fault. Anyway, wanna join in? We're playing garbage."
"Garbage?" Regulus asks.
"James, what have you been teaching him?"
"I taught Lillian and Rose. Reg is just..... Reg."
"Man, do I know what that feels like." Dorcas says.
Pandora raises her glass. "Amen."
"Come on, Reg." Barty says. "Everyone knows how to play but you."
"Come on." Evan says.
"I don't know."
"Please, Uncle Reggie." Nymphadora says.
"Please?" Luna begs.
Regulus sighs. "Fine."
***
"Hey!"
"That's not -"
"James!"
"What the fuck!"
"Language!"
"That's cheating!"

05-1 Interesting Coincidence
[Click]
[Electronic hum underlies the recording]
{Callie}
Hello, this is Callie Hewitt recording on the 11th October 2021! I’ve been looking for more interesting disappearances, and I’ve found one that may work!
Bartholemew Greene, Cassia Greene (neé Florence), and their children, around a year after the disappearance of the Florences, were the second major disappearances. They were set to inherit Everwich Manor from the Florences, and had only just moved in, when they also disappeared. This was what sparked the rumours that Everwich Manor was haunted, and it was left empty for years, but that’s a story for another time.
Cassia was Henry’s younger sister, and as their parents had died of old age a decade before, the Manor went to her husband. Technically it should have gone to her, but this was the Georgian era and so [sarcastically] obviously the women couldn’t inherit property! That would be absolutely stupid! [normally] Ugh, that’s one part I hate about the Georgian era. Anyway. You’re probably thinking right now ‘But Callie, what about Charles? The body was never found?’. Charles had been missing for a month when the other Florences died, and nobody really seemed to care about either the Florences, or just Charles specifically to look for him, so the house went to the Greenes. Obviously nowadays it doesn’t matter, since there’s no chance Charles is alive, so…
Anyway, the story. Cassia and her children, Ed-
[A knock on the door]
Yes?
[Door opens, sounds of someone walking in]
{Voice} Hi, uh, Asher gave a… Statement, I guess? For your little investigation podcast, I mean. I think I have something you’d be interested in?
{Callie} Oh, Rin! Yes, come in, sit down, actually I’ve been meaning to ask you about something too. Related to the podcast.
{Rin}
Right. Ok then.
{Callie} But, go on?
{Rin}
So, I was just with my grandfather, and he gave me this journal. It has some information on Everwich. Em won’t answer her texts, and X is about to go to work. Ash said he’d get bored, but you’d want to know.
{Callie} Oh my gosh, you came to the right place, yes! It’s your grandfather I was meaning to ask you about, he was involved in an almost disappearance ages ago, so I wanted to hear his statement firsthand, but if you have this, that can also work!
{Rin}
I see what Ash meant that you were obsessed with this. God this is embarrassing. Here
[Pages rustling]
{Callie}
Wait- ‘Jill and Harvey have been acting oddly today.’ … ‘I know why now’ Rin, this is it! This is the missing piece!
[Rustling]
{Rin} Stop hugging me. I barely know you.
{Callie} Sorry…
[More rustling]
{Rin}
… Right. Well. There was… Something else. I did read the journal before coming here, and…
[A pause]
Something’s wrong with Em. Oh, sorry, Emilia. I think it’s related to what’s written in there.
{Callie} Go on?
{Rin}
Well, it started about a week ago. First of October. Em missed school. Before you ask, no that’s not normal, yes that’s why I was worried. She never misses school, not even if she’s sick, she’s too worried about missing up. Believe me, we’ve had to force her to stay home before. So, when she just… Didn’t turn up, I thought that was weird. She’s my best friend, it’s the sort of thing you’d notice, right?
[A pause]
{Callie} Keep going, I swear I won’t judge if that’s what you’re worried about.
{Rin} God, you’re desperate for any little bits of information, aren’t you?
[Sigh]
Well, we called her. I mean, I called her. Ash and X weren’t worried – it was a Chemistry test that day. Asher was more worried about his score. He’s awful at sciences, so Em normally tutors him a bit to get their confidence up, but cause she wasn’t there, Xavier ended up doing it. This was during form time. She said she was ill. Nothing seemed wrong with her, but… I had a bad feeling. I just brushed it off as stress, cause it just so happened that day, both Jamie and Tyler- It doesn’t matter. I tried to talk to Aiden about Em- Oh wait, do you know Aiden?
{Callie} No? Wait- Is he that guy in Xavier’s rugby team?
{Rin}
Yeah, Em’s twin brother. So I tried to talk to him about her, but he said he didn’t know, and didn’t care, he had a big match.
{Callie}
Yeah, Xavier was at that match.
{Rin}
God, I can’t believe I’m talking to you about this, this is so stupid. Em was probably just sick, and finally learnt that we’d force her to go back home.
{Callie} Was there more or was it just that?
[A pause]
{Rin}
Yeah. We went to your haunted house, as you know, you were literally there-
{Callie} Good to get it on tape, though!
{Rin}
Hm. So, we went there, you showed us around. Em seemed pale. And yeah, she’s white, but like. Paler than normal. Her hair too, but I just kinda assumed it was a trick of the light. But over the next week, she kept avoiding us, and we kept finding her in the girl’s bathroom working on some experiment. I say we, I don’t mean X and Ash too, I meant other girls. It was weird. She normally goes to the chemistry labs to do her fun little experiments.
{Callie}
What was she doing?
{Rin}
I don’t know, she had a test tube full of something and was trying to drop some solution of something into it. With no regard for lab safety- You know she used to be my lab partner in year 10, she’d always bug me about how bad my lab safety was. ‘No Rin, you have to put on a lab coat’, ‘Rin, stop, you should put on goggles!’, ‘Rin why are you coming in here with food. It’s for me? Put it outside!’.
[A pause]
Ok, that’s a bit mean. She did appreciate the brownie I got her. But anyway, her severe lack of it in the past week was funny. And not in a ‘ha-ha’ kind of way. So. Yeah. She’s been acting strange. And freaking Asher and Xavier won’t listen when I say something’s wrong, they’re just pinning it down to GCSEs.
[A pause]
I guess I did need to get that out. Thanks for listening.
{Callie}
Wow. So, you think it relates to-
[Pages rustling]
This?
{Rin}
That’s why I had it bookmarked.
[A pause]
Oh yeah, I tried to put my arm around Em, and she ducked out. That’s another reason I think so.
[A pause, muttering between the two]
{Callie}
I think Emilia’s in trouble. It’s definitely that. I think this is the piece I’ve been missing, and it makes sense with what I already know! What with the paler skin, odd actions, something’s definitely up. Maybe Emilia is next to disappear! It’s what happened before C-

A Chance Meeting pt. 2
Hello hello! Thank you so much for the love on part one. <3 If you want to go back to it, it's here. Part three is here. Enjoy part two! It's a long one. Though, I think the first part was long too. The next, and I think final part, will be a doozy as well...
Synopsis: By chance, you meet the person you've admired most from afar, Jamie Campbell Bower. By luck, a friendship blossoms. Or perhaps...more? Over the course of a whirlwind week, your wildest dreams start to become reality.
Warnings: Swears.
-6:30pm. Monday.-
"Oh, here is fine!" you call to the Uber driver.
The car comes to a stop, you and Jamie open your respective doors and step out, thanking the driver for his ride. You look to Jamie as he comes around the back of the car to join you at your side. The breeze blew his hair backward, revealing his stunning features once again. You couldn't help but stare as he looked out toward the water of the harbor, and the loop of a walkway that jetted out into it.
"I see why you like this place." He said, not moving his glance from the scenery.
You smiled and grabbed his jacket sleeve, as he turned his head to look at you. "Let's explore."
The two of you begun your stroll, walking first toward the large beige fort that sat atop a short hill, surrounded by black metal fencing. There was a small loop, around this fort, that then lead into a wide loop that stretched out into the harbor. A small resting point sat out in the far end of the loop in the water. You walked side by side, chatting and laughing, once again as if you were old friends.
You rounded the fort and begun your walk on the main loop, walking out towards the ocean, as the sunset finally began painting the sky in hues of orange, red, and pink. People whizzed by you on bikes, roller skates, on foot as they ran, quite a few people walking their dogs, or strolling with their young children. And yet, it felt like it was only you and Jamie.
"I usually like to stop and sit here for a bit, and just...you know, take it all in. If that's alright?" You say, halting your movement at the edge of the stone resting area out in the sea.
"Oh, absolutely. The sunset looks marvelous right now." Jamie smiled.
You nodded and climbed atop the wall, swinging your legs over the edge, dangling above the water below. Jamie followed your action, settling on to the edge next to you. You both sat in silence for a few moments, gazing up to the sky, watching the light changing among the clouds. You took in a deep breath as you closed your eyes, exhaling with a slight smile. You looked over to Jamie and noticed him staring.
"What, is my hair all crazy right now?" You snorted, reaching for your hair, referring to the salty winds coming off the ocean.
"Well, yes," he chuckled, as he reached up to move a piece of your hair that was sideways across your forehead. "But it's just nice to see someone so at peace, in their element."
You bit your lip as you smiled and looked down, feeling your cheeks blush. Your heart had pounded in your chest when he moved your hair from your face. Something so small, yet felt so intimate. You took in a breath.
"You know," you began. "I just want say that today has honestly meant the world to me." Jamie cocked an eyebrow and tilted his head in question. "Just...you know, your music has helped me through some really tough times. I even cover one of your songs in my set when I play. And your general positivity and wisdom that you've gained through things you've been through has been really inspiring in my life. I just never thought I'd get to meet you, let alone spend a day with you. I...I don't know where I'm going with this." you chuckled. "I just want to thank you, I guess. For everything, for being you."
Jamie's face melted into a smile with eyes tilted downward, almost as if he were about to cry. "Aw, man. Y/N...that is so kind to say. Thank you for being you, you brave girl. Come here." He pulled you into a tight hug, caressing your back and pressing his cheek against yours.
He released you, keeping a hand on your arm. "Tell me more about your music! I've got to hear you play!" His eyes gleamed.
"Well, I uh...I've got a show on Friday. I'm playing with my band Sucker Punch at a bar called O'Brien's."
"Oh, I'm there." He smiled. "Front row. I'll be your groupie." He winked.
You chuckled and looked back out across the water. Your hands rested next to each other's, flat against the cold stone, as you watched the last bit of sunset fade from the sky, into dusk. Your pinky fingers were within a centimeter, and it you found yourself longing for them to find their way to each other in touch.
After some time, you acknowledged the darkness, and got down from the wall to finish out your walk. The rest of your stroll was just as enjoyable as the first half. As you reached the point where you had begun the journey, Jamie pulled out his phone to call another Uber to bring you home. You wished you could both stay here forever.
Pulling up to your apartment building, you and Jamie exchanged another firm hug as you said your good nights. This time, he placed a quick peck on your cheek, causing you to blush. You thanked him for the evening, and he thanked you in return. You stood at the doorway, watching the car drive away before you turned to head up to your apartment.
You settle into your bed, staring up at the ceiling, catching yourself longing for him to be lying beside you...
-8:04pm. Friday.-
You stared back at yourself in the mirror hanging in the bathroom of O'Brien's Pub, checking your stage makeup. Jamie had texted that he was on his way. He had texted you every day since Monday. You had even met for dinner yesterday since he was back near the museum at the end of your work day. This was week had felt like a fever dream. You were devastated that it was coming to an end tonight, as he was leaving tomorrow afternoon. And it weighed on you.
You were more nervous than usual to perform tonight. You knew you would be performing Jamie's "Letters to the Lost" in your set, while he was in attendance. You also just wanted him to like your original music. It's always easier to perform for friends and strangers than one of your heroes.
Knock knock.
"Y/N, you almost ready?" Tyler, your drummer yelled through the door.
You turned and flipped the lock to open the door. "Ready." You smiled.
The both of you walked down the hallway out into the main area of the bar. You paused to scan the crowd for your tall, blonde guest. Suddenly, he walked through the front door, also scanning the faces. You stuck your arm up in the air to wave. He saw you and gave a wide smile as he politely pushed through the bar-goers toward you. His arms swung around you in a hug.
"Y/N! Look at this crowd! Are you excited?" His head went from left to right, taking in his surroundings.
"Hell yes! A little nervous, but feeling amped." You nodded.
"You're gonna kill it, absolutely smash it." He placed a hand on your shoulder.
"Hey look, I've got to go set up. But find yourself a good spot and I'll see you from the stage." You winked.
He saluted you and nodded as you turned to head up to the stage. You hopped up on the elevated floor they had as a stage, plugged your guitar in, sound checked your mic, and huddled with your band to say a chant, as you did before each performance. The lights dimmed and your lead guitarist nodded to the sound guy, who gave a thumbs up. You looked over to your right and saw Jamie standing with a glass of water, looking directly at you. You turned back to the front and stepped up to your mic, and hit a chord as your band followed suit.
"Hey, we're Sucker Punch, thanks for coming out tonight. Let's fucking tear this shit up." The hum of the chord faded as your drummer hit his sticks up to tempo and you exploded into your first song.
Jamie's head immediately started bobbing as the crowd started bouncing around him. He smiled as you sang out your first lyrics. Your voice powerful and controlled, a handful of people sang along with you, knowing the words. As your set went on, Jamie seemed to be enjoying himself, which made you feel so much better. As your set list reached it's end you stepped back up to the mic.
"Okay...so, we've got one more for you guys." There were audible sounds of disappointment from the crowd. "Oh shit," you laughed. "Thank you guys. But I'm sorry, we've only got so many songs!"
You looked over to Jamie, still smiling. You cleared your throat.
"So this last song isn't by us. It's from uh...a good friend of mine. And for this one, I'm gonna get the boys a break." Your band set their gear down and hopped down off the stage. "You can find them back there by our merch table. Be sure to come by and say hello. But uh, this one is called Letters to the Lost. Thank you for being here tonight."
You looked back to Jamie, his face filled with surprise. Closing your eyes and taking a breath, you began the chords. You started singing, emotion filling your every utterance. You hammered on to your guitar as you cried out the chorus, you felt tears welling up as you continued, with every word waying heavy on you. Looking over at Jamie during a part without you singing, you could have sworn you saw his own eyes looking glassy. By the end of the song, tears had spilled over to your cheeks. The crowd clapped and cheered as you wiped your face with your sleeve.
"Thank you for tonight. Be good to each other. Get home safe everyone." You said as you bowed and set your guitar down.
You jumped off the stage, and before even turning to go to Jamie, you were engulfed by a warm body. It was a familiar scent.
"You were fucking incredible, darling!" Jamie yelled, rocking you side to side in excitement before letting you go. "And oh my god, Letters to the Lost...Y/N, just amazing. Fuck. Thank you so much for that. You had me welling up, love." He smiled.
"I'm just so glad you liked the show! I'm so happy you came, Jamie. Really, thank you." You looked up at him.
"I'm glad I came too." He held your gaze for a moment, you felt a surge of electricity in your body.
He stood by your merch table as you and your band spoke with people and sold shirts and CDs, watching you interact with friends and new fans. He seemed to be beaming. You couldn't decipher what it was, but there was a certain look in his eyes. A look you wanted to never leave, whatever it was.
As the live music crowd dwindled, leaving only the bar rats, you and the band packed up your merch and instruments, with Jamie helping and being friendly with your musical compatriots. As you put the last of your stuff into your drummer's car, the bar owner walked up to you and handed you your cut of the night's profits. You thanked him and gave each band member their share and waved them off as they headed off, leaving just you and Jamie in alley behind the bar.
"So," Jamie started. "Now what?"
"I don't know." You shrugged your shoulders upward. "Any ideas?"
"Well, if you're up for it, maybe you can join me at the hotel for a drink? I mean, none for me, obviously. But since I'm leaving tomorrow I figured we could try and drag tonight out a bit?" He tilted his head.
"Hmm, trying to get me drunk, are you?" You smirked.
He rolled his eyes. "You caught me!" He chuckled. "No, I just thought maybe a glass of wine and some conversation at the hotel bar as a night cap?"
You smiled. "You know, that does sound great right now. I'd love to."
"It's a date, then."
A surge of electricity ran through your body again. A date? You thought. You could feel your heartbeat speed up as he put an arm around you and turned to begin walking.
--------------------------------------------------------
End of part two! Thank you for reading! Now, the next and final part, there will likely be sexual situations...so if you're into that, stick around... ;) If not, though, you've been warned. And thanks for reading up to now!

Chapter 4
Warnings: swearing, angst
Present day
BB woke up drenched in sweat yelling. She had been trying to escape Steve and Sharon but was too weak in her dream. Bucky rushed out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around his hips "BB, you ok doll?" When he saw the state she was in and the look on her face he knew "nightmare?" BB nodded and he sat next to her and pulled her onto his lap.
BB giggled and tried to pull away "Jamie, I'm not sure this is ok since you're a married man now. What would Natty say?"
Bucky smirked "She would ask to join us. Our feelings for you have never changed, we just bowed out because you were so happy with him when I came back. You will always be part of us."
BB felt her face heat up and pushed a strand of Bucky's wet hair away from his face "You will always be special to me, both of you. For now I just need some time to heal from Steve before anything else."
Bucky nodded "I understand, we both do. Just wanted you to know. Now, I need to suit up and you need a shower before you go. It's already after 4 so times a'wastin."
BB nodded and headed for the shower. She spent 10 minutes getting cleaned up and another 5 trying to psych herself up for the mission.
When they made it to the tarmac most of the team was boarding the quinjet and Sharon was saying a long and dramatic good bye to Steve. You would think he was never coming home with her theatrics.
Nat snickered "Who is she trying to convince? Her or us? So insecure." She turned to BB "You call one of us if you need anything. Don't let him get to you, understand? He cannot break you." Her and Bucky gave BB hugs and kisses on the cheek before she boarded the other jet after Steve.
Once they were in the air and on the way Steve tried to talk to her. "How are you feeling today, BB?"
"I'm fine thanks, Captain Rogers."
Steve cringed at her cold and formal tone "I'm worried about you, it's been a stressful couple of days."
If looks could kill Steve would be a puddle of goo on the floor "Stress that you have caused, Captain. I don't need your faux concern. I'm fine."
Steve objected "It's not faux, I do care about you and-"
"What did I say about our interactions, Captain? Do you have anything to say regarding the mission?"
Steve shook his head.
"Good. Wake me up when we get there." And she moved to the back of the jet.
When they arrived at the airport there was a car waiting to take them to the hotel. Once they were in their room they realized that there was only one bed.
BB rolled her eyes "Well I know Tony didn't plan this one. I'll sleep on the couch"
Steve shook his head "You know I can't let you do that-"
BB interrupted "it's not your call. The couch is fine for me. I'd rather sleep on a rock outside in a rainstorm than anywhere near you."
Steve sighed and let it go. They spent the next couple of hours going over their plan, the floor plans for the house where the event was being held. An hour before the car was scheduled to pick her up BB went to the en suite and started working on her hair and make-up. When she pulled out the dress that Tony sent for her she rolled her eyes. She would have to ask Tony if he chose that dress before the break up to torment Steve or after the break up, also to torment him. It was silk and had a high neckline to contrast with the back that was so low it showed a bit of butt cleavage and the slit that went high up her thigh.
When she came out Steve was speechless. She was more beautiful than he remembered. He wanted to rip that dress off of her and have his way with her on every surface in the room. That made him start to second guess his decision, she was so beautiful and sexy. Sex with Sharon was good but with BB, it was out of this world, mindblowing. He had a hard time thinking of words to describe it. He felt himself stiffening as he looked her up and down.
He stuttered "Wow, you uh look beautiful BB. I need a quick shower." He had to take care of himself in the shower or deal with that all night. Unfortunately for him, thinking about Sharon didn't cut it and he moaned out "BB" as he finished. He knew he was in trouble.
When they headed to the lobby Steve stopped BB "I know you hate me and this is a fucked assignment but I want you to know I will always have your back. And I know you don't want to but our cover will be blown if you keep calling me Captain Rogers so for this mission I need you to call me David and act like we are together when we are out of the room, ok doll?"
BB snapped at him "Don't call me doll, David, I'm Julia and I'm well aware of how undercover works, I've been doing it most of my life. I will do my job as I always have. I dealt with more unpleasant circumstances in the past. It will be fine. Look the car is here, I should go."
Steve nodded and took his rented car to the site separately. Once there he found a discrete place to park, set up for a stake out, confirmed coms were working with BB and sat back to wait for something to happen.
Back at the compound Sharon was trying to log on to Friday's system but as soon as she put in her user and password the screen went black and a skull and crossbones appeared, the word SLUT in large flashing letters, laughing for a few seconds until it turned into the blue screen of death and informed her that all her memory and everything on her drives had been dumped. She started to panic, worried that someone could access the videos of her and Steve. Unbeknownst to Steve, she had recorded every time they were intimate. It had frustrated her because she worked very hard to be caught in a compromising position with Steve but it took 2 months before BB caught them together. If all went according to plan she would release all the video no matter what Steve did but he didn't know that. Besides sexual content there was audio of their plans. Luckily, for her at least, she was smart enough to copy everything to a thumb drive that was stored in a safe place away from the compound.
While her blackmail file was saved elsewhere, none of her other important documents were and it would take forever to get everything fixed. She sighed, hopefully she wouldn't be stuck living in the compound for long.
BB arrived, fixed a smile on her face and took a glass of champagne when a waiter passed her.
After about an hour of wandering the hall and making small talk with strangers, BB sighted her mark. He was surrounded by beautiful women and a couple of bodyguards. BB noticed that the women had their hands all over him without any response from his guards and hoped that meant it would be just as easy for her to get so close. She took a roundabout way around the hall until she was in his orbit and when he looked at her she gave him a small smile and her best bedroom eyes. He threw her a cocky smile and curled a finger inviting her over.
BB glided up to him and took a sip of champagne "Hi" she said all soft and breathy. "I'm Julia" and she offered her hand. He slowly looked her up and down, took her hand, kissed it and pulled her closer.
"I'm Werner von Strucker and absolutely delighted to meet you, Julia. I hope I can lure you to my quarters once my business here is done. Your beauty puts every other woman here to shame."
Steves jaw clenched and he made fists with his hands listening to Strucker talking BB up. He knew the man was right, none of the women here could hold a candle to her. Steve felt an ache in his chest at the loss of her love and his stomach dropped. He realized he had made a horrible mistake and there was nothing he could do about it now. He made his bed and Sharon had the video to prove it. He couldn't figure out Sharon's game. She had him now, all out in the open but refused to get rid of the video so he was left missing the woman he loves and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
After a little over an hour, Strucker put his arm around BBs waist and whispered in her ear "Will you join me in my suite? I have better champagne than they are serving here and can show you pleasure you can't even imagine"
Steve bristled, he wanted to kill him.
BB giggled and had to fight to stop her eyes from rolling at his arrogance, typical of men of his stature. Ultron had killed his father and Werner had been spoiled and pampered his entire life with women throwing themselves at him because of his money and power.
"Of course, Werner" BB trilled "I'm looking forward to seeing what you can show me."
He led her to the staircase with his hand on her lower back, fingers reaching underneath her gown to tease her. When they arrived at his suite there was chilled champagne and strawberries waiting for them. Werner excused himself for a moment and BB poured two glasses of champagne, dropping a roofie in one of them. When he returned she offered the drugged glass to him. He drank it all and set the glass down.
"This should be more to the liking of a breathtaking creature such as yourself." He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into him. He rubbed his erection against her and BB gasped.
"Werner, is that all for me? I'm going to make you feel like no one ever has."
He smiled and leaned in to kiss her but passed out before he reached her lips.
BB rolled her eyes and pulled him up onto the bed. 'Men are so easy' she thought 'always thinking with the wrong head'
She went to work, removing his necklace with the chip in it, copying everything off of his laptop and then destroying it all. She looked around to make sure she didn't miss anything then quietly left the room to head out the back and meet Steve. She tapped her ear piece.
"Captain Rogers, I'm on my way out the back. Meet me at the fenceline."
"On my way" he replied.
BB was out of the house and had almost made it across the huge backyard when she heard shouting. She started running without looking back and was almost to the brick wall when her back exploded in pain and she was knocked down. Her head bounced against the ground and everything went black.

the little things are infinitely the most important
“Hey Doll,” Tony felt arms encircling his waist as the weight of his boyfriend settled along his back. He dropped his tools on the lab bench and turned in the embrace to face Bucky.
“Hi Jamie, how was your walk?” He pressed a quick kiss to his lips and brushed a loose strand of hair back behind his ear.
“It was good, we just walked around the grounds. I didn’t feel like seeing people today. Sam understood.” He smiled a little, before his face lit up and he stepped back out of Tony’s hold. “Wait here, I gotta go get something from my coat.”
“Okay? I’m glad you guys had the chance to relax a little. Have fun, weirdo,” Tony laughed, puzzled by the strange behaviour but not bothered because he seemed happy.
Bucky rushed out of the room, like a man on a mission. He returned moments later holding something in his hand, face flushed and eyes bright with glee.
“I found this rock by my flowers today - it kind of looks like it has an arc reactor in it. Would you like it?” He held the stone out in the palm of his hand to show Tony.
Tony was silent for a few moments as he looked down at the rock. He could feel his face burning, and tears gathering in his eyes. Stupid emotionally neglectful parents causing stupid emotional responses to normal shit. He plucked the gift from Bucky’s hand and held it close to his chest. “This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever given me.” His voice was thick and sincere and maybe a little too serious for the situation.
He looked up at Bucky to find him beaming, his smile wide and face open and relaxed and radiating joy.
“Honey, you are so welcome. I love you.” Bucky wrapped his guy up in a tight hug, knowing pressure would help with the overwhelming emotions Tony was feeling. He silently cursed Howard for being such a goddamn dick. He’d had his suspicions back then about him and his true nature, but he would have never guessed that he’d one day treat his child like nothing more than a burden. Bucky would just have to do his best to show the man that he was loved and cared for whenever he could. Tony deserved nice things. He deserved to know he was special. Bucky would find a thousand rocks with arc reactors on them if it meant he got to see Tony smile each time.

1993. Dude Looks Like a Lady?
T7S. Eric and Donna. Fictober 14, 2022.
@jackieburkhrts, the beginning of an inevitable scenario, if Eric is a teacher and Donna is a journalist...
*****
It's dinner time, a smidgen past six, and Eric's anxiously occupying his two young daughters, Kate and Leah. Distracting them with books, magazines, and television, as he sets the table.
Napkins, placemats, plates, bowls, and spoons. Waiting for grilled cheese, tomato soup, and pickles.
Instead, he waits for their mother, his loving wife, to burst through the door. To toss aside her tweed blazer, rip off her shoes, and give him a relieved, exhausted hug.
He's kind of used to this routine, though. During the summer, he stayed at home with his little rascals. One with a bow in her hair and with Mary Janes on her feet, and another with strawberry braids, jelly sandals, and a mischievous grin.
And oddly enough, he sort of misses it. After going back to school, Leah stays with Uncle Hyde for a solid chunk of the day, watching Little House on the Prairie, sipping apple juice, and taking a long, Formanseque nap. Before his niece and nephew, accompanied by his own little princess Kate, come home from elementary school. Then Leah bounces off the walls, and now?
"Mommy's home!" Leah squeals, pressing her grubby little hands on the bay window, "I see red hair!"
She removes one grubby hand from the window, and proudly waves at her mother. Who happily waves back, with a small spring to her step, and is more boisterous than usual.
That's when Donna bursts through the door, and Leah is the first to reach her. She wraps her whole body around her legs, and Donna kisses the top of Leah's head.
And she ruffles her hair, with a truly jubilant smile. "Leah..."
"I got to play at the park with Jamie today, and Uncle Hyde let us have ice cream with sprinkles!"
"You have fun?" Leah enthusiastically nods, and breaks free, as Donna awkwardly smiles at her husband. Setting down her briefcase, and meeting him in the kitchen.
She gives him an ample smooch, as the girls predictably make gagging noises. Loud, dramatic "ewws," permeating through the house.
But both Donna and Eric ignore their antics, as she pulls him into the most formidable, seemingly jubilant of bear hugs.
"I got promoted to co-editor!" Donna almost leaps into his arms, nearly toppling him like a house of cards. "I'm so freaking giddy!"
In turn, Eric is seemingly at a loss for words. Not in shock and awe, but as the most simple question dances on the tip of his tongue.
"So..." He awkwardly trails off, anxiously shoving his hands into his pockets, as he prepares to state the obvious. "I guess Gloria's editor, then?"
"Don't rain on my parade, okay?" She scowls, and her glare permeates through his mind and soul. "The vote was so close they couldn't leave me empty handed."
But he barely flinches, as he lays down the law. "A consolation prize, if you will?"
Now, her seemingly superficial elation has faded, and the act has ceased, as Eric has succeeded at getting underneath her skin.
And for once, he reveals what's truly underneath. As she lets off some steam. "What crawled up your ass and died?"
"A particularly long day with absurdly low pay?" Eric posits, revealing his side of the coin, "Where I'm roughly in the same place I was eight years ago, unlike..."
Now, it's readily apparent. Although she has received a consolation prize, he's jealous. Like he has been, for a long, long time.
Ever since their careers were set in stone, in fact. "Eric, are you okay?"
"Yes, no...I don't know."
Because he seldom gets what he deserves, not even a consolation prize, even though he works hard. He's a servant to the system, in a place where being a servant to the system is far from being truly advantageous.
So, other than that warm, fuzzy feeling he gets from helping others and changing their lives, bit by bit? He doesn't have what Donna has, the money, to show for it.
"Y'know, a teacher's salary is way lower than it should be..."
"Is this you wanting to be the man of the house?" She remembers all of his insecurities, and it cuts. Like a knife. "Are you jealous that I make more money than you?"
"To be fair, you make a lot more money than me..." But Donna doesn't kiss the world's ass, and hence? Gloria is editor, not her. "Aren't we supposed to be equal partners in this marriage, give or take a little..."
"You want to be the man of the house." She stabs him, in the heart. "You do know your mom provided for your family when your dad was out of a job, and after he had a freaking heart attack..."
"Mom stayed home with me and Laurie when we were little, so it was an even trade."
"You don't stay at home with us, Mommy. Daddy stayed with us all last summer," Leah blurts, pushing herself into the conversation, "He took us to the water park, and I pushed Jamie down the slide."
Eric waggles his brows, in questionable vindication. "I might as well be Mrs. Doubtfire, minus the divorce and all..."
"Eric, let's not discuss this in front of the girls, okay?"
Leah loudly "ooos," as Kate notably nudges her, telling her to behave.
But once again, their antics are readily ignored. "Let's just eat dinner, so it doesn't get cold, okay?"
Donna is notably reluctant. "Okay."
