wanted to make a post ranting about how much tlat fucked over val but it's so bad that it isn't worth the brain power it would take to write an essay so here's a list of bullshit. tlat spoilers obviously

this movie just unnecessarily made val into a slutty bisexual who has commitment issues? like, why was she like "an orgy sounds great" while thorjane (the straights) were like ew

the way they reduced her to the token black friend who is there purely to support the white mains??? like that was the vibe I got from the trailer but this was somehow worse??? she got virtually nothing???

why are the asgardians respecting thor more than val when she's their king and the one whose been taking care of them while thor's been fucking around having his fifteenth midlife crisis???

tessa said that there was a version of the script where her whole storyline was just about finding a queen and she had to step in because it was dehumanizing and the focus on val needed to be about her being a person who happened to be queer... but where was this person? we got some grrl power king status scenes and a couple of blink and you'll miss them lines about the valkyrior and that's it

how did we not get a single flashback about the valkyrior even though we know an extra was cast a valkyrie

she got nerf'd and kicked out of the final battle and was absent for like most of the last 30 minutes

some kids got more of a hero moment in the final battle than val did

pretty sure she actually had more screen time in ragnarok than in tlat

she had literally no character development or plot. she is literally just a body there to fight

no fr there's this whole ass scene where she's basically a body for korg?? it was very strange and didn't serve a purpose but she had to do it while because I guess thorjane are too important to do it

thor says that zeus was his childhood hero when it was previously val, and like yeah you can have more than one hero but come on

we are three movies deep, why doesn't val have a first name??? tessa implied she would get a name and then she just didn't????

val doesn't get to talk about her beloved herself - it's just korg babbling at her about her commitment issues and mentions an ex girlfriend

val lowkey compares jane to her sisters but their entire friendship is basically offscreen

there's this bit where korg says thor doesn't discriminate who he loves and it cuts to a montage of thor with a bunch of white women and idk that feels like an attack on the idea of a black woman being his love interest

also this isn't about val but thor's characterization was just so fucking awful this entire movie like holy shit who the fuck was that man baby because that was not the person at the end of ragnarok or even iw/endgame. like, what the fuck did taika do to my man??? but that may need to be its own post

in conclusion this movie sucks ass. is it queerbaiting? no, val is explicitly queer (and korg but who cares about that pile of rocks), but it's not a good movie and just a horrible movie for val in particular. if you're a qpoc or a woc who was excited to see val finally get her moment in the sun then don't even bother

November 1st - Mirage

The New Mutant and X-Man known as Mirage was born Danielle ‘Dani’ Monster among a community of the Cheyenne Nation in rural Montana. Dani’s Mutant abilities became active in her early adolescence. She discovered that she could telepathically detect the fears and anxieties of those around her and create psychic illusions that made such fears appear to manifest. It took her some time to fully control this, causing her to accidentally create these illusions and terrifying those around her. It led to young Dani being alienated in her community and the one person she could find solace with was her grandfather, Black Eagle.

Black Eagle was a mystic who had foreseen his own death. Fearing that Dani would be left on her own, he arranged for Dani to become enrolled in Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters where she could learn to better master her Mutant powers. Dani was enraged, feeling like she was being abandoned and shipped off to live in the ‘white man’s world.’ She refused, yet soon thereafter Black Eagle was murdered by agents of the villainous Donald Pierce. These agents then attacked Dani, yet she was saved by the timely arrival Professor Xavier and his new student, Karma. Dani agreed to work with Xavier, although only to the extent that it enabled her to average her grandfather’s death.

Working together with Xavier’s other newer students, Dani was able to defeat Pierce and foil his schemes. Dani came to like these new friends and reluctantly decided to stay on at the Xavier School. She and her classmates would become the team of young heroes known as The New Mutants. Dani chose ‘Mirage’ as her hero alias. Her initial reluctance aside, Dani would quickly become the leader of the squad, earning a great deal of respect from not only her peers amongst the New Mutants, but among The X-Men as well. Along with learning greater proficiency at the use of her Mutant powers, Dani additionally further honed the skills she learned in her youth, such as tracking, hand-to-hand combat and archery. Indeed she would become a truly remarkable archer, winning a bet with the Avenger, Hawkeye, through which she was gifted a series of his specialized arrows.

Dani would go on to have many adventures alongside The New Mutants. One such adventure saw them traveling to Asgard where Dani was made an honorary Valkyrie and gifted special weapons along with a winged horse whom she named Brightwind. Dani would return to Asgard on several occasions to assist her sisters amongst The Valkyrior.

The New Mutants team would go on to transform into X-Force and Dani would later join the squad. This team ultimately disbanded and Dani was asked to become a teacher at the Xavier School. She accepted and became a mentor to a number of younger Mutants, including Prodigy, Surge and Wind Dancer.

Mirage joined the X-Men in the wake of the M-Day event and served as a member of the squad throughout the Second Coming and Utopia events. More recently, she has relocated to the new Mutant nation of Krakoa. Here she has reunited with her peers amongst the original New Mutants team for further adventures.

A version of Dani featured in the Fox Films movie, The New Mutants, portrayed by actress Blu Hunt. The heroine first appeared in the pages of Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (1982).

Misty Knight is one of the all too few black heroines in comic books. Part of the Marvel universe, Mercedes (“Misty”) Knight is a former NYPD policewoman who, after losing her arm in a bomb explosion, was fitted with a super strength prosthetic thanks to the genius of Tony Stark. Misty decided to go freelance as a private investigator, bounty hunter and unofficial government operative. Misty linked up with Colleen Wing to form the Daughters of the Dragon, an outfit similar to DC’s Birds of Prey, but with a more overt commercial slant: these ladies are for hire, although not to known criminals. Misty has no super powers as such, but in addition to her prosthetic arm, she possesses formidable martial arts and firearm skills and is highly athletic.

Although Misty first appeared in Marvel showcase titles in the 1970s, it was not until the early 2000s that the character became fully established in the Marvel Universe, appearing regularly in the titles Daughters of the Dragon, Heroes for Hire and Valkyrior. In the page featured above, Misty, Colleen and Nick Fury Jnr, who has hired the women on behalf of SHIELD, are after a psychotic professional assassin gone rogue named Rutherford Winner. Clearly not able to go through regular channels, the crew are empowered to brook no interference in pursuit of their quarry!

as a continuation to this post now that thor 4 has been released, i feel the need to express my visceral disappointment in the filmmakers (and in mcu fans for) 1) erasing brunnhilde’s original and intended love interest THOR ODINSON HIMSELF, 2) acknowledging her bisexuality only through a conversation (a scene that can be easily cut for other countries) with korg about her dead ex lover that was in the valkyrior attack, 3) NOT giving her same gender love interest despite the filmmakers and tessa thompson herself saying so not to mention the fact that she has minimal screentime as she is no longer the female lead in this film and 4) NOT GIVING HER MUCH OF ANY SCREENTIME OR ANY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OR A RELATED PLOT POINT OF ANY KIND and in the fans for not even acknowledging any of these wrongdoings

Loki x Sigyn HCs ( my MCU fanfics )

. So, we all know that Loki and Sigyn are friends since childhood

. Loki started to gradually develop a crush on Sigyn as they both went into their teen years, when Sigyn is growing from a pretty and curious little girl to a blossoming and courageous teenager

. Their relationship kinda reminds me of Beauty and the Beast and Hiccistrid in some ways btw

. Sigyn doesn't give a flying fuck about Loki's Jotun heritage. However, she found herself having to learn to get over the internalised stigma she learned against other Frost Giants ( rhe Asgardians, Light Elves, Vanaheimrs and Dwarves distrust Frost Giants )

. It was partially thanks to Sigyn that Loki gradually accepts his Jotun heritage and recovers from his period of self loathing ever since he found out his Jotun heritage

. Like other Valkyries and valkyrior veterans, Sigyn regularly wore her hair in braided hairstyles. Braids are signs of power and victory in Ancient Nordic Socieities

. While Loki has got raven hair, ivory skin and ice blue eyes, Sigyn got warm skin, curly auburn nut brown hair, turquoise eyes and an athletic and curvy body

. Sigyn likes baking and she sometimes has baking hangouts with her Nine Realms friends

. She is good friends with Hnossa, Gersemi, Hildegund ( Volstagg's wife ), Anneli/Grace ( Heimdall's wife ) and Sif

. Even after all Loki has done in thor 1 and Avengers 1, Sigyn can't help but still love him and is tremendously relieved when Odin and Frigga can't bear to kill him.

. She isn't above calling out his crap tho, but she tries her best to help him get back on a right track as they mend the seams of their relationship

. Sigyn is an anchor of constancy to Loki's unpredictability and chaos

. After the Massacre of Valkyrie, Sigyn began to wear aurora borealis inspired hair highlights at times to commemorate her mother and those who died in the Massacre of Valkyrie

. Sigyn is more like her mother personality wise btw.

. Her dad is a tall blonde pureblood elf with turquoise eyes ( think kinda like Legolas ) while her mother got dark auburn hair, warm skin and bright brown eyes.

. When she was a kid, Sigyn is kinda insecure of her pointy ears. Loki is one of those who helped her get through her insecurities over her ears

. Loki likes to visit Sigyn's villa in Asgard when he was Loki/Odin. It is a place of solace for both of them when they wanted a break from court dramas and political melodramas and such

. Sigyn loves Yuletide. She loves to help around with the decorating and baking. Loki is alright with Yuletide but tends to enjoy them more whenever Sigyn is around. Bless.

Some Loki S2 Theories and Speculations :

. Loki was time hopping through different timelines to find Thor and meets variants of Thor and his friends

. Sylvie was on the run through multiple timelines as she was being chased by multiple cosmic military forces ( including the Imperial Dark Dimension Military ) cuz they are PISSED AF that Sylvie's stabbing caused the Multiverse Madness

. Mobius was knocked unconscious by Ravonna and ends up waking up in an alternate timeline, alone and confused.

. Loki eventually ends up with an alternate timeline where Asgard is ruled by a council of Valkyries. Sigyn was one of them.

. It turns out Sigyn was also one of the survivors during the Massacre of the Valkyrie and she managed to escape to another timeline.

. When Loki explains his predicament to the Valkyries, Sigyn reveals to Loki that they managed to keep Sylvie prisoner for ' trying to challenge some of our fellow Valkyrie sisters and also mess up with the timelines ' and await for trial in a few days

. Just as Loki was going to negotiate a some sort of freedom for Sylvie.......all alarms blared in the Valkyrior Council - it turns out Sylvie managed to escape her prison cell.

. Loki and Sigyn end up chasing after Sylvie as Sylvie manages to escape....yet again.

. Loki was happy to meet a childhood friend of his, and Sigyn, despite having foggy memories of her timeline, remembers Thor, his friends and Loki and is happy to see Loki again.

. So yeah meanwhile it is revealed Ravonna and Kang are married (like in the comics )and are plotting something sinister to Mobius, Loki, Sylvie and ALL of the other variants.

. Eventually, Sigyn realizes what all the variants truly wanted - to go back to their timelines and be free of the TVA.

. Hell Sigyn is just as pissed as everyone at Sylvie for stabbing Kang.....but she shows Sylvie some unexpected compassion ( as Sigyn experienced similar traumas ) and Sylvie just broke down and bonds closer with Sigyn, who became an unlikely ally to her.

. Whilst Sylvie is cold, brash and cynical, Sigyn is warm, friendly and sweet..not to mention a fucking badass

. Upon finding out that Loki tried to take over Midgard, Sigyn confronts Loki, saying that Loki DOES have people who love him (like Thor and Frigga ) and was tragically so blind by his insecurity about his Frost Giant heritage and many other things to see it.

. Loki was about to defend himself....yet realizes that Sigyn is right.

. Eventually, all of the variants under Kang's thumb all began to organize a coup d'etait against the TVA. Mobius, who initially sided with the TVA, also soon change sides and sides with the variants.

. Mobius and Sylvie having flashbacks and having to confront about their timelines and their backstories.

. Loki admits that he never felt anything romantic with Sylvie - he only sees her as a friend and sister, nothing more.

. Sylvie FINALLY realizing her grand mistake - but with so many people being so pissed at her for stabbing Kang, it's so hard for her to rectify her wrongs.

. Casey gets more character development - we may see who he is before the TVA and how does he come to loose his memories of his timeline.

. The S2 ends with the TVA being overthrown and Mobius and Sylvie finally going back to their timelines - Mobius having a blast on his jet ski, and Sylvie reuniting with her postman lover ( during or after the Season )

. As for Loki and Sigyn, it is implied that there is still hope that Thor, some of their old childhood friends and some Valkyrie compatriots are still surviving

. Loki and Sigyn embarking on a journey to find them.....in the Prime Timeline.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

June 7th - The Valkyrie / Brunnhilde

Brunnhilde led the Valkyrior, a group of warrior goddesses who would appear over the battlefields of mortal worshippers and choose which of the fallen were worthy to be taken to Valhalla, the land of the honored dead. Brunnhilde served Asgard capably in this capacity for centuries, ending when Odin chose to no longer attend to the affairs of Midgard.

Thereafter, Brunnhilde became the prisoner of the powerful sorceress known as Amora the Enchantress. The Enchantress used Brunnhilde’s guise to travel to Earth and psychically manipulate a group of female heroes into becoming The Lady Liberators; all as part of a scheme to destroy The Avengers. This plot was thwarted yet Brunnhilde remained The Enchantress’ prisoner.

Later, Brunnhilde’s consciousness escaped confinement and possessed the body of a human named Barbara Norriss. In so doing, Norriss was changed physically to resumable Brunnhilde and possessed her same powers of super strength, speed and durability.

Taking on the name ‘The Valkyrie,’ Brunnhilde assisted The Defenders in defeating the evil sorceress, Casiolena. She remained with The Defenders for many further adventures whist also having to contend with Barbara's husband, Jack Norriss, who refused to accept that Brunnhilde and his wife were not one and the same. The process of possessing Barbara Norriss caused Brunnhilde to experience a degree of amnesia where she forgot about her original body trapped by The Enchantress. Periodically, Barbara’s consciousness would regain control of the body, leaving Brunnhilde with confusing gaps in her memory.

Later, Barbara was tragically killed; where upon Brunnhilde’s consciousness was returned to her original body. Back in her own body, Brunnhilde was finally able to break free from the Enchantress’ thrall and she returned to The Defenders for further missions. She would later act as a member of Steve Rogers’ Secret Avengers team.

In the wake of the Serpent War, Brunnhilde was charged by Odin to locate and safeguard The Serpent's eight remaining hammers, preventing them from once more being used for evil. To facilitate this task, Brunnhilde formed a team of heroines known as The Fearless Defenders.

Following a battle with Hela, Brunnhilde traveled to Valhalla in an effort to rescue her fallen teammate, the archeologist named Annabelle Riggs. With the aide of the sorceress, Clea, Annabelle was resurrected; although achieving this came at a cost. Brunnhilde and Annabelle were now bonded so that the two shared a body and Annabelle’s mortal form became the new host of the Valkyrie. As such, Annabelle’s consciousness was transferred to a limbo dimension whenever Brunnhilde controlled the body and they would switch places any time Annabelle controlled their body.

Brunnhilde first appeared in the pages Avengers Vol. 1 #83 (1970).

"I asked Valkyrie to forge a Dragonfang for her. Ever since I told her the Valkyrior's tale, she decided she wants to be one. But, Love never celebrated Christmas and she doesn't know and doesn't really care about the real day. So, we are waiting for the gift to come on any day now."
