Vanellope VS. Turbo: A Mini Analysis!

There are a million reasons why Turbo’s reveal in Disney’s Wreck-it Ralph is such an iconic and memorable scene. A scene that I and many others have replayed ever since 2012 and its impact has never left our minds. It solidified King Candy/Turbo as one of Disney's top villains ever created, surprising and shocking viewers with a plot twist that Disney hasn’t been able to overthrow with their other movies before they abandoned villains until King Magnifico but he sucks so. He WISHES he was as charismatic as King Candy plz-

But this analysis isn’t just about King Candy/Turbo, it’s also about Vanellope Von Schweetz. She’s the most important ingredient to making this scene work and play out the way it does and ultimately why it’s so fucking cathartic. ( More so than Ralph’s fight against Cy-Bug Turbo in my opinion) After watching how it was originally story boarded, the crew behind WiR perfected this scene with a specific detail that they changed. In the early storyboard, Vanellope causes King Candy’s vehicle to crash, causing him to glitch and transform into Turbo in front of the cameras. While I love love love the extended race between Vanellope and King Candy and sort of wished it could have been longer in the actual film, I am content that they didn’t go with the direction. In the movie, King Candy is revealed after trying to beat/kill Vanellope with his horn rod/pole thingy from his kart, she grabs it and glitches due to stress/adrenaline/her emotions, her blue glitch traveling through the cane and making contact with King Candy, finally putting down the facade he had on for 15 years and revealing him as Turbo to the characters in the film and the audience. It’s such a small detail, it only happens in a second, but it’s all it took for the start of his downfall and his eventual demise.

And this is why it brings me catharsis every time I watch this scene. I could never put it into words before, but it’s beyond satisfying that the end of King Candy’s horrible reign starts with Vanellope and her glitch. The very same glitch that he caused trying to delete her code and remove her place from the game. The glitch that he used as an excuse to turn everyone in Sugar Rush against her. He usurped her throne and tried to ruin her life. Despite this, he still had the audacity to shout “Get off of MY track!” earlier. It brings his Roadblasters incident back up, it was his choice, trying to steal the thunder of another racing game that just got plugged in because he couldn’t stand the idea of anyone taking his place, only for Turbo Time and Roadblasters to be unplugged. All of this circling back and biting him in the ass. Vanellope was the key all along and he knew it, he feared her despite never really having a conversation with her as far as we know (Vanellope asking Turbo “What the-?! Who are you!?” leads me to believe that if they did converse in the past, it was not in his true form and he was most likely already King Candy. Plus it just goes to show how fast he hijacked Sugar Rush), but you can just tell by how desperate he was to keep her from racing, he didn’t want anyone to take his place ever again.

So the scene continues and his famous line and breakdown goes as this: “I’m Turbo! The greatest racer ever! And I did not reprogram this world to let YOU and that halitosis riddled warthog TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME!” It’s just so ironic, unfair and hypocritical of him it makes my blood boil! And the way he’s raising his voice, jabbing his finger at her and Vanellope’s trying to shrink away from him as he yells at her face before he tries to murder her I just- So cruel, scary, wicked and disturbing! But Vanellope, this brave WARRIOR, is reminded of her glitch after Turbo calls her for what he believes is the last time. “End of the line, Glitch!” She takes a moment, everything slows down around her as she tries to control her glitch to escape Turbo. She glitches away, missing the wall and It ends up saving her life! I just cannot stress enough how beautiful that is! She used her disability, that everyone thought would simply doom her and the game, and embraced it when she needed it most. Her glitch, while it was suddenly given to her by circumstances she couldn’t control or prevent, she took control back. It’s her beautiful superpower and it’s empowering. After this scene, it’s the “end” of Turbo before he gets nom’d by a Cy-Bug. ( I want to note that he later says “I’m the most powerful VIRUS in the arcade”, part of me wants to believe he said that because clearly Vanellope bested him as the greatest racer ever but I doubt that was their intention lol)

They’re the embodiment of Selfishness vs. Selflessness. While Vanellope had everything taken away from her, she didn’t follow the same path as him. Turbo had everything taken from him, but it was his fault and he only ever thought about himself, never about the destruction he left behind. Hell, all she ever wanted was to be one of the racers, no matter how much they bullied her and ostracized her, she never ended up being evil like him even though it would be a perfect recipe to become a villain, this is also what makes her a mirror to Ralph. (Remember in that one deleted scene where she said she wanted to break the racers’ legs but come on can you blame her!?!?! She was so real for saying that.) VANELLOPE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER AAAA.

Before I ramble any further, I will forever love the choices that the writers made for the climax and it just ends up being an absolutely perfect and brilliant scene and I will continue to rewatch for the millionth time.

Merriment

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone! Here's a short, light-hearted little fic for you all. Inspired by this conversation I had a few years ago with some friends. Credit to @guilty-as-battery-charged and @kittysfigurines24 for their parts!

Felix prepared to put the finishing touches on Niceland Apartments for Christmas, now that Mr. Litwak had left for vacation. From his perch on the eastern fire escape, he wrapped and stapled a cord of garland around the white brick ledge separating the eighth and ninth floors. Nicelanders milled about below him, busying themselves with stringing lights on the trees and bushes. The golden beams of the setting sun outside the doors of the arcade lit up the strands of tinsel lining the windows, and the handyman stopped to admire everyone's work. He had left Ralph and Vanellope in charge of the lights on the front of the building, since Ralph could easily navigate the vertical space without tools and had never had a chance to decorate before. His colleague presently climbed up and down the building, stringing lights as he went, while his friend glitched between rooms to secure the lights to hooks installed along the windowsills. "Almost done?" Felix jumped in surprise, looking up to see Tamora descending from the tenth floor's fire escape. She leaned in and gave him a peck on the lips. "I was just takin' in the second-prettiest sight around here before it suddenly got upstaged." He smiled and placed a hand on her leg. She grinned back and affectionately pinched her husband's reddened cheek. "With a honeyglow like that, we're not gonna need all those lights." "Well they're just about ready, and I've got the ledges all gussied up!" The handyman tied a red-and-gold bow to the corner of the garland setup. "How're the connections?" "All the bulbs are working," she replied with a thumbs-up. "I've got 'em wired up on three separate lines so the whole display doesn't have to go down if one strand burns out." "Aww thanks ladylove, that'll save me a lotta headache later in case anything takes a turn." They glanced over to where Ralph and Vanellope were finishing up, the wrecker and racer giggling at something as they threaded the ends of the wires together. "With those two, you can bet on it." Tamora leaned against the brick siding. "Best outcome's that the building's still standing." "I'm sure they'll do just fine, Tammy. Everyone’s—" "Hey Felix! All done!" Vanellope shouted from around the corner. "That's great, Vanny! You two go ahead down, Tammy and I'll be right with you!" Tamora spent the entire descent restraining a chuckle. Felix was just delighted that she felt the holiday spirit. A crowd of Nicelanders gathered around the front of the building as the four of them brought out the cables. "Ready?" Ralph shook out the cord one last time to remove any coils. "You do the honors, brother!" "Alright, drumroll please!"

Vanellope leapt up with a devious smile and pounded her hands against Ralph's head as the wrecker pushed the two plugs together. For an instant, the crowd oohed and aahed at the lights, before dissolving into muttering and horrified gasps when they noticed the particular shapes. The word "PEE" (spelled out in appropriately yellow lights) shone proudly across the entire ninth and tenth floors of the apartment building, which otherwise stood resplendent in festive bows and ribbons. From somewhere in the crowd emerged a scandalized noise—between a yelp and a bark—that could only belong to Gene, but it was quickly drowned out by two distinct peals of laughter from the pair of best friends rolling on the ground. "Ralph! Vanellope!" Felix turned to them in a panic. He hopped up and waved his arms, knowing full well it was futile in hiding the spectacle from anyone who could see their screen across the arcade. "H-hey relax Felix, we—hah!—still put up the regular ones behind it," Ralph sputtered out. "Just gotta take down the yellow string and plug in the one underneath instead." "Yeah c'mon, we planned ah-ahead!" Vanellope chimed in, struggling to stand up and popping a candy cane back in her mouth. Felix sighed and put his face in his hands. He should've known that neither of them would've dissuaded whichever one came up with the idea. How they carried out the plan in plain sight was a mystery to him; it was almost impressive. He couldn't help but have a giggle at it himself. "Oh-heh-okay, okay you two, just please put those back to normal later tonight. At least the ground display is still all—Tammy Jean!" The sergeant, who had crept off in the confusion, snickered as she set the last lovingly-crafted wooden letter in place on the building's side lawn facing East Niceland. The display originally read "MERRY CHRISTMAS" in whimsical block lettering carved by Felix himself; her tampering had rearranged it to cheerfully announce "ASS TIME". After taking a moment to admire her handiwork, she strolled over to where the rest of the group stood and fist-bumped an uproariously-laughing Ralph and Vanellope, with a bewildered Q*bert looking on. "Nice one, Sarge!" "Sugarplum! You were in on this too?!" Felix, in disbelief, attempted in vain to cover Vanellope's eyes. "I needed a diversion and they needed a parallel circuit," she shrugged. He stood in silence for a minute, looking from the lawn display to the lights, to the concerned Nicelanders, to his family gathered around him. The diminutive man took a deep breath and let out the tension in his posture. "All right fellas, I'll admit when I'm beat. You got me. And..." He risked a glance at the cutesy wooden letters again and a snort escaped him. Well, it made his gal smile, and it wasn't insulting anyone. "...that is kinda funny—" "Don’t worry, we won't tell the 'stache over there," Vanellope nudged her head in Gene's direction and hopped onto Ralph's shoulder. The mayor still grumbled to himself about the lights, martini in hand, and luckily hadn't noticed much else. "I'm sure he'll have something to say to me about it anyways. He always does..." Felix sheepishly adjusted the back of his hat as the pair headed off to take down their extra string of lights. "Hey, if it makes you feel any better, consider that an invitation for later," Tamora grinned and pointed to her rearranged display before heading back to fix it. Felix stood silent for a few seconds, then flushed at the realization. "A-ah coming—lemme give you a hand with that, Tammy!"

Keyblade Army - Wreck-It Ralph

Sora needs extra help fighting the forces of darkness, so he has recruited friends from Disney and Final Fantasy worlds to aid in the conflict. But these heroes don't come on their own; they have been gifted with their own Keyblades to join the Guardians of Light.

Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, and Fix-It Felix, Jr. join the Keyblade Army. They each carry a variation of the Bad Guy Breaker Keyblade, scaled to fit in their hands. Ralph has the initial version, and is large enough to work as a club or greatsword. Vanellope has the Sugar Rush version (+25 Level) with the teeth changed from Ralph's fist to her candy kart. And Felix carries a solid gold iteration based on the initial version but made to resemble his magic hammer.

"I'm gonna wreck it!"

Ralph uses his brute strength to smash the forces of evil and anything that aims to Go Turbo in our dimension.

"I am a real racer." "And glitch!" "Oh, look. I'm winning."

Our resident adorable winner Vanellope uses her small size and glitch teleportation power to speed around the battlefield and dodge attacks.

"I can fix it!" "Whoo! If Tamora could see me now!"

Felix would serve as a healer and status buffer in the party. He would not be much of a fighter, as his Keyblade still carries the properties of his hammer which fixes everything it touches. As such, he will have to rely on Ralph to protect him and Vanellope to glitch him out of danger.

This is the first in the "Keyblade Army" series, which will pit both heroes and villains in battle carrying Keyblades of their own.

They Break Yuu’s Necklace from Home

This is absolutely garbage but I am hoping it helps me break writers block so enjoy. No Yuuta sadly since his novel isn't translated I was afraid to fuck him up Yuu is gn as usual ect ect

Before you were summoned to Twisted Wonderland, you had a wonderful little sister named Vanellope von Schweets. The very last thing she gave you before you were taken, was a ceramic necklace in the shape of a heart. It was decorated as a sugar cookie with the crude cursive of a nine year old that said “You’re my hero”.

Since being summoned, you felt homesick everyday. You wondered how your sister was doing and if she was okay. The only comfort you had was that little necklace you wore everyday that you have hidden under your clothes to protect it from others and any potential thieves or damages. Until one day.

Ortho Shroud.

Ortho was one of the few you opened up to about Vanellope.

He was just so curious and sweet and reminded you so much of her. When you mentioned having a necklace from her, the little bot was curious.

You wouldn't dare say no to the child. So you carefully took off your medallion and gently placed it in his robotic hands. Ortho immediately started to examine it, rotating it and flipping it over.

“This is really nice!” Ortho said as he scanned it, holding it up as he gave it a final look. As his hands clasped the edges of the heart, his robotic strength kicked in, fingers digging into the edges of the medallion, causing it to crumble. The kid panicked, causing his fingers to dig even deeper into the ceramic, breaking it.

You froze as you watched a few pieces hit the ground and shatter. Apologies from Ortho flooded out as he nearly started crying, trying hard to pick up what pieces there were. “M-Maybe my brother can fix it! He’s super smart— Yuu?”

Your body shook as you held back tears. “It's okay Ortho, you didn’t mean it, I just… need some time for myself.” Ortho looked conflicted for a moment, before looking down sadly, leaving the room to give you the space you needed. Holding the broken pieces of what was left of the medallion, you broke down into tears.

Ace Trappola.

He didn’t mean it really! It was just right there on the arm of the couch in Ramshackle! Who could blame him for swiping it off by accident! If anything it was your fault for leaving it out! His utter disregard for what he did pissed you off, starting an arguement.

"I don’t see what the big deal is! I can buy you a new one!” “There is no ‘buying me a new one’ Ace! This is all I have left of my world! My sister gave that to me Ace, what am I supposed to do!?” You screamed at him, making Ace shrink away.

“I didn’t— I didnt know!” “Just get out!” You sobbed, “I don’t want to deal with you right now!”

Ace went silent, you could see him visibly struggle to let out an apology before he sighs, going to leave Ramshackle. He was going to give you time to cool off.

Sebek Zigvolt

Sebek truly felt awful. It was all his fault you were injured and it was all his fault the young master is upset as well!

He didn’t mean to hurt you, he didn't! He was just in a rush and you were in the way and then he bumped into you!

You fell straight onto your chest, shattering the fragile medallion around your neck into your skin. Blood spilled everywhere as you stood up, clutching your shirt in pain.

He was expecting your anger but was surprised when he was met by silence. You looked completely hollow as you lay in the infirmary. Eyes devoid of any light.

“Human! Why are you so quiet?” He tried his hardest not to yell as he waited rathe impatiently for your answer. “It’s gone…” “Pardon” “It's gone!” You yell, tears spilling from your face.

“My necklace its gone! My sister— What am I going to do! It’s all I have left!” You cried as you covered your face. “It was all I had left… It was all i had left!” Sebek was taken aback as he watched in horror as you break down in front of him.

“I want to go home…”

Deuce Spade

Deuce has always been a comfort to you since your time there. He knew of your little sister Vanellope, in fact, you told him all about your world. You both would gush about your families together as you exchange stories of home and growing up!

Deuce could never imagine touching your medallion knowing how much it meant to you, even when you allowed him to look at it, he was much too nervous for such an honor in his mind.

He never expected he would be the one to break it.

You felt bile rise in the back of your throat as you held the heart, snapped in two.

“I'm so sorry.” Deuce says, near tears himself. “I am so, so sorry.” To both of your surprise, you got up, and turned to leave. You would rather break down in private.

Jack Howl

Jack never met your little sister, but man did he hear a lot about her! The minute he talked about his siblings you opened up and talked about yours and it was the most animated hes ever seen you. It was quite clear you admired her.

You even showed him your medallion, and he was honored you chose him of all people to trust. As such he was super careful. He always ways. Until chaper three came around.

The tweels surrounded you all, barraging you with attacks of all sorts. Jack fired back, and fired and fired, Yet with Floyd’s Unique Magic was bound to cause issues. One of Jack’s spells ricocheted him, turning around and aiming directly at you, the flora spell striking your chest intensely.

“Yuu!” Jack yelled out, “Yuu are you—-“ “You! YOU!” You shrieked at both him and Floyd as you held your chest, before pulling out the sugar cookie medallion, now cracked. Your body shook as you looked at it, and the battle stopped.

Tears welled in your eyes as Jack apologized repeatedly over and over again. Guilt wells up within him as you suddenly pounced onto the wolf boy, ready for a fight.

Yuuka

(Short cause there not a lot of info on her yet)

It was during some good old Judo practice did she break it.

She accidentally gripped onto the ribbon of the necklace and ripped it off, making the medallion itself fall off on onto the floor. You both stared at it for a moment before you crumbled, sobbing into your arms as you covered your face

“Oh Yuu! Im—“ She paused as you ignored her, instead opting to kneel down to examine the pieces.

"…Maybe, I can get some Kintsugi from Sam’s so—“

"You cant repair it. My little sister, she… She made it for me… And now I lost her. and my necklace….”

Yuuka froze before examing the pieces yet again before picking them up. “Come on then Yuu, I have a plan. Azul owes me one…”

Yuuken

“And like that she was taken away from me. Thats why I have to get back. I have to find my sister!” It was one of the first things you told him when you were both in ramshackle after you’ve both been summoned. He was talking about getting back to Japan when you opened up.He has people he needs to get home to as well.

Since then you both got along and you opened up more, especially about the necklace you wore and hid under your clothes. He knew how important it was to yoy and damn it, it lay broken on the floor from a misplaced strike of his shinai.

Yuuken’s body froze and he went pale as he watched the halves fall off the ribbon and shatter. You stood there, frozen. “My… My medallion!” You shrieked as you picked up the halves. “It’s broken!” Tears welled in you eyes as you mutter a mantra of ‘nods under your breath.

“Yuu, I’m—“ “NO! You BROKE it!” You shrieked at him, making Grim cower behind the man. “You broke it! You broke it!” You sobbed, “Just go away! I don't want to see you— I don’t—I don't want to talk to you either!”

Yuuken wanted to hold his ground, he wanted to offer to fix it, he wanted to make things right, but all he could do is watch as you crumpled, finally breaking down from all the stress the school has put you through. The necklace was just nail in the coffin.

Epel Felmier

"Tch you seriously wearing something as dainty as this around?” He teased you as you rolled eyes. “The only dainty thing here is—“ “Don’t even finish that sentence!” He warned knowing what your teasing retort would be.

“Tch I just don't see why you wear this thing everywhere.” “My little sister gave it to me, I have to wear it everywhere.” “That’s fair I s’pose.” He smiled serenely. He never in his life expected to break it.

Like that he learned of your sister that you adored and your medal. He would have never expected to be the one to break something so important to you… He… he was just examining it. You showed it to him.

He had it in his hands! As he cradled it and took a look at it again, before he felt it slip through his fingers, in an attempt to stop it from falling he gripped onto it harshly, cracking it. Epel froze when he felt the ceramic shift under him…

“My… My medallion…” You stared at Epel who sheepishly showed you the cracked ceramic heart. You shakily took it from his hands before your body tensed and you turned around.

“Yuu, hold on! I’m—“ “I don’t want to hear it!” You sneered at him before walking off. Your body shook in anger the whole way back to your dorm.

Being Fix it felix and sergeant Calhoun child

Best parents ever.

Both overprotective but at the same time trustful

Felix wants to keep you save all the time, meanwhile Calhoun wants you to know how to defend yourself.

They both support you at anymoment, at any goal you have and they'll always tell you to make your dream come true.

While you're a baby (2 years old), Felix would fix every part of the house to make sure it's baby safe (no pointy corner on tables,covering up any outlet on the walls, and having mini fence on some parts of the house)

Calhoun thinks he's being a little dramatic but she loves her hubby so she won't say anything.

Whenever they both need to go do their games, they'll left you on the house in the care of a nicelander(one that doesn't need to go outside while felix is "working").

They both love the drawings that you made for them and they'll always put them on the fridge or anywhere else on the house. (Calhound has some on her locker on hero's duty)

They take turns to put you back to sleep whenever you woke up in the middle of the night crying.

Calhoun's crew comes to visit once a month, they're the best uncle's ever.

Talking about uncles, of course you spend time with your uncle Ralph, he's the most funniest uncle ever.

Playtime with cousin vanellope, she wants to take you on ride on her candy car but of course Ralph says that you're still too young to do that.

Ralph will tell you the story about how your parents met (basically what happened in wreck it Ralph )

If you want to learn how to fix thing and be kind like your dad then he's more than happy to help

But if you want to be like your mom, shooting cybugs and being tuff then she'll help you (being careful of course) whatever you choose they'll support you.

You loved spending time with your cousin vanellope, she'll show you how to create and drive your own car 🚗 !

You basically befriend every game in the arcade thanks to your parents.

Qbert and his friends often play hide and seek with you.

Felix tells you stories while acting them before bed

They'll let you sleep with them if you have nightmares.

One you reach 9 years old, Calhoun is teaching you how to fight and defend yourself.

The nicelanders love,adore and worship you. You're básica a Felix Jr Jr (cause your dad is already felix Jr)

You love pie

Felix has a photo album of the family.

They'll start letting you round around the whole lobby, once you're much older.

But while you're still a baby, Felix will always hold your hand whenever you both get out of his game or Calhoun will carry you.

In the end they're the best parents of all 10/10

Recently when I tried to figure out why Turbo went, well Turbo I realized something. At first I came to the conclusion that it was because of his code, but then I remembered the plot of the movie and completely scrapped it (though there might still be some merit with it). Then i thought that “hey, this fucker has been surrounded by picters of himself since he was plugged in, hes the star of the show, so of course he would get a huge ego out of it, said ego also being his subsequent down fall, but why diden't Felix also fall in the same trap? he was the hero of his game too”. And I think it's because he wasn't alone. Now I'm not gonna overshadow the twins. They're there too but considering how Turbo treated them in the little screen time we got to see them together I doubt that they were on good terms, they might have been in the games early days but I digress.

Felix, unlike Turbo, had friends within his game, a small community to look out for him just as he does for them. They made him pies, dedicated parties to him, cherished him, but Turbo?. Who was gonna bake him pies? Who was gonna throw parties for him? Who was gonna cherish him? The Twins? FUCK no. And i think that's what tipped him over the edge, his ego made him push oway his friends and coworkers just to get a sliver of stardom. And when he had all the attention ripped oway from him by another racing game had to have been his last straw (you saw the face he pulled in the flashback. God, just imagine seeing one of your neighbors destroy their own career live, in broad daylight too, must have been horrifying). I love a good character that just dooms themselves to the narrative with their own actions (Turbo was a whore for the limelight).

Going a bit of topic here but “going Turbo” wouldn't work if it was any other main character in the movie, “going Ralph” just doesn't work. Could be because “Turbo” isn't really a name, it's a word, the name of his game, “Turbo Time”. So my proposal is that whenever there is an au where say, Calhoun game jumps (for whatever reason) they call it solo mission. “You're not going on a solo mission are you?” sounds more riveting, to me, and in character for Calhoun. Perhaps that was the last thing she said to her men before she left. For Vanellope id imagen something like “going on a sugar rush” and something about crashing. Because when the sugar rush ends you typically crash.

And that gave me another thought, how many “Turbos” are there out there? How many characters went outside their game or against their script on working hours. How many of these incidents were considered bugs or glitches (how many were turned into creepypastas). It feels like a huge liability risk and the only instances of us hearing about it is with Turbo, which I find strange. Is it like a silent rule? That no one is allowed to leave their game and that's it? That's a super thin line, like yeah you can argue that its there to keep them alive but who told them that? And the second movie doesn't help that, it's just, eurghhh, i don't like the second movieeeee… But it does give the homeless game characters a chance to find a potential new home. There's so much out there in the wilde wilde internet to explore and find new potential in, to not be tied to the arcade has to be a bit liberating for some :)

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍

Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉

To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.

This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!

Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.

With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.

Disability Showdown Full Bracket

Alright! No more mystery, we've got our list for the tournament!

For people new to this tournament, how this works is this: We narrowed our character list down from about 600 to 131 (it was gonna be 128 but we had three ties, so those have been reworked into three-character polls). The top 64 have been seeded into the bracket by number of nominations. The bottom 67 however, all got roughly the same amount of nominations, so those have been assigned places via random number generator, to remove any bias that I the poll runner may have about which characters I want to succeed

(I am so sorry if your obscure blorbo ends up against a super popular kid in round one, that's unfortunately the luck of the draw here, but I am keeping a record of characters that lose but whose fans fight the hardest for them, and we may do something with those kids later, so it's still worth campaigning for your faves!)

I will make an image for the bracket once we get past the first round or two, but right now I have no idea how to make a visual bracket containing 131 characters, upload it to tumblr, and still have it be at all useful

Flora and Tetra fic idea.

I’m not really sure I will ever write it. But I wanted to share some ideas I had for a fic in which Flora and Tetra meet each other.

-First the other Zeldas don’t play a big role in this adventure, at least not yet. But it could be considered the beginning of them gathering the Zeldas.

-My full name for Flora is Zelda Archaines Hyrule. From the ancient thinker and inventor Archemides, who’s supposedly the first person to shout “Eureka!”(What do you think?, could I do better or is it a good name?)

-It begins when Flora learns where Wild dissapeared to. That he’s traveling with ancient heroes across time. Being the stubborn girl she is, she decides to try to go find him.

-She eventually finds a way to open her own portals by scanning the ones the Shadow creates with technology from the Sheikah towers and using the black blood to pinpoint the places in time Wild may be in. (She doesn’t realize it yet, but her portals also work because of a combination of the technology and her time magic that she learns to use in TOTK).

-To defend herself in her travels she carries a bow and a prototype version of the Purah Pad that also allows her to open the portals. Unfortunately they are still unable to reliably recreate the runes and so they’re often faulty.

-The rune that allows her to create the portals also takes a lot out of it so she can’t use it repeatedly and has to wait a few days between uses. Any use before then could potentially damage the Pad.

-She and Tetra meet shortly after her first time jump which lands her in Legend’s time. I haven’t figured out the details but I imagine it’s something similar to the first meeting between Vanellope and Ralph in Wreck-it Ralph. With Tetra teasing the hell out of Flora while she trying to retrive her Purah Pad.

-Tetra instantly suspects this “Flora”, as she calls herself, is a Zelda based on what she knows of the situation Wind is in. And her teasing questions are also sublte attempts to get the comfirmation from her. “You’re not from here are you?”

-As for how Tetra got to this time. She decided to chase the Postman to find how he gets across time, she loses him but when she does she realizes she’s not in the Great Sea anymore.

-Tetra of course has her trusty cutlass to fight. And if that is somehow not enough she also carries a pistol.

-Right off the bat Flora and Tetra don’t like each other because of Tetra’s own ill-feelings for the “Zelda” name. And Flora doesn’t care much for Tetra’s seemingly callous and selfish attitude. But they both agree to work together so that they can reach their respective Links.

-Flora actually has a lot of admiration for the Hero of Winds, she knows the legend but not the real story with details. She looks up to him and his Zelda because acording to the legend they were able to rebuild Hyrule when it was destoyed by Ganon, even when the hero himself was not the gods’ first choice. (I go over this in the fic I wrote. For the future: A battle of wills)

-Their anger with each other comes to a head when it’s revealed to Flora that Tetra is another Zelda (and not just a Zelda, but the one from the legend of the Hero of the Winds) and Tetra furiously denies being Zelda and that she never asked to be Zelda. Flora acuses Tetra of being a selfish brat who cares about no one but herself and would never understand the burden of having to fullfill the duties that come with the name.

-They both storm-off absolutely enraged, agreeing that they’ll find a way to their friend by themselves.

-Flora tries to calm herself by sulking by a tree and then by humming to herself Zelda’s Lullaby. It works, until she realizes Tetra is now standing in front of her completly awestruck with tears rolling down her cheek. ”How-how do you know that song?”

-Tetra’s mother used to sing that song for her before she died (I headcannon that she’s the adult timeline’s version of TP’s Zelda and was called Madame Dusk in the Great Sea).

- Flora offers her comfort to Tetra and when she finishes crying she opens up that she never asked to be “Zelda the Princess” either. She confeses that she understands her resentment because she always felt like a failure as a heir to the goddess’ blood. And thoroughly apologizes for what she said to Tetra.

-From then on Tetra and Flora start to get along very well and become great friends. They still get on each other’s nerves but in a more teasing manner than before.

-Flora often has to play diplomat for Tetra and keep her from killing everyone who angers her. But Tetra often pulls them into shenaningas with Flora doing very little to disuade her, when not being a very willing participant. “Oh, why not? We’re not in my Hyrule.”

-They are the epitome of “Getting along like a house on fire, including setting a house on fire”.

- By the time the Links return from chasing the Shadow, Tetra has made peace with the name Zelda and with her heritage. Of course she doesn’t stop calling herself Tetra, but she believes that the Zeldas are awesome.

-Flora in turn calls her and Wild’s daughter in the future Sonia Tetra Hyrule. In honor of the most ferocious and bravest queen to ever sail.

- A couple of other trivia from my headcannons. The people in the great sea hardly know about the Golden Three goddesses or Hylia and instead worship smaller deities like Zelphos and Cyclos. Mainly because having wind is vital in the Great Sea.

-A headcannon I think others have proposed before. But I like to think that different regions in Botw’s Hyrule hold a particular Hero in higher regard than others. I.E- The Hylians in central Hyrule looked up to the heroes of Sky, Time and Twilight. The Rito look up to Wind (Revali was secretly a fan of the legend and the fact that Wind had to earn the right to be a hero played into some of his resentment for Wild). The Goron look up to Hyrule, etc.

Because I’m stuck in the Rot, More Thoughts about Wreck it Ralph

I know, I know. It’s just a stupid kids’ movie about a bunch of stupid video game characters going on stupid adventures and making stupid jokes. This REALLY isn’t something worth obsessing over, especially with the myriad of dumpster fires that is The Real World right now. Who gives a shit about cartoons when there’s at least one active genocide, the US is going back to the Bad Old Days, and trillionaires exist?

But the thing is . . . I DO care. I care so much. And I know I shouldn’t.

I was the ABSOLUTE last person who should’ve liked the first Wreck-it Ralph. I knew no one in the cast by name or reputation, I missed the majority of the video game references (like not realizing Tapper was a real-ass game from the real-ass world until much later), and I only went to the opening weekend showing because I was excited for Paperman (the short that played prior to the movie, not the video game character). I told myself I was going to walk out as soon as the movie bored me. I thought I’d be there ten minutes.

And then, the movie started.

By the time the camera pushed in on the Fix-it Felix Jr. screen & we entered the world of the video game characters, I was glued to my seat. But it wasn’t until we faded in on Ralph sitting in his first Bad Anon meeting, pouring his heart & soul out to his fellow Bad Guys (and the audience) that I realized he was me.

I mean, not literally. Obviously. But as the movie kept playing, I kept feeling like someone had ripped out my soul & put it on the big screen. There have been other Disney characters I’ve liked or related to for surface-level similarities (She likes books? I like books! That kind of stuff).

But Ralph hit SO MUCH deeper. He was this guy feeling stuck in a role he wasn’t sure he was meant to play, feeling literally AND metaphorically out of place even in a world where he SHOULD have felt at home, tired of ALWAYS being compared to someone else and found lacking because HIS talents didn’t match the OTHER’S talents, desperate for someone, ANYONE, to see what he had to offer and say “You have value. You matter.” And there were other similarities - the short temper, the clumsiness/tendency towards accidentally breaking stuff, the gap in the top front teeth, etc. But it was the core of his character - feeling lost, being secure in his identity but looking for someone to see him & accept him - that truly resonated with me.

And the rest of the movie. I could talk about what was IN the movie, but I want to talk about what WASN’T in the movie. Like the Bad Anon scenes. It was silly because of who was there, but they played it DEAD serious in the movie. This was not a “D’oh hoh hoh, silly support group for silly people because mental health is for losers” scene - they paid support groups & mental health the respect they deserve! And it was inspiring that Ralph STAYED IN Bad Anon even after getting his “Happily Ever After.” Sure, it was probably just meant to be a framing device, but I saw it as mental health positivity. And there were spin-off short stories that carried the idea of Ralph staying in Bad Anon, further reinforcing the idea that support groups are helpful & there’s nothing wrong with reaching out for help.

And for a plus-size character, Ralph has a surprising lack of fat jokes aimed at him in the first movie. I think Vanellope has one line about him having a go-kart “hidden in the fat folds of his neck,” but I think that’s because she wasn’t allowed to say “Well, unless you have a go-kart hidden in your ass crack.” And there are scenes in the first act when Ralph is clearly too big to comfortably walk through the Niceland Apartment or when his tummy bulges out when he straightens his stolen Hero’s Duty armor, but I saw those more as “Ohh, this is a visual representation of how Ralph feels out of place because this world wasn’t made to accommodate someone like him and/or he’s not prepared for what he’s about to get into” as opposed to “D’oh Ho Ho, he’s FAT.”

It was just so refreshing to see a movie that didn’t go for as many cheap shots as it probably could’ve. Ralph was treated with so much respect in the first movie, and it felt so nice to see someone who I resonated with so thoroughly not being treated like the butt of the joke. The movie became an instant favorite, and Wreck-it Ralph took over a special place in my heart & my brain. On bus rides home from college I’d be on my laptop making music videos about Ralph & Vanellope (NOT SHIPPING THEM AT ALL!!!!!!! I used songs clearly meant to convey familial love like “BBBFF” and “You’ll Be In My Heart”) I eagerly waited for Disney to give us console games based on Sugar Rush & Hero’s Duty (and yes, I DID buy the micro Fix-it Felix Jr. cabinet when it was offered at Walmart, and if there is ever a full cabinet game offered I WILL be the first to buy it, build it, and set every record possible for a cabinet game). When Motorchickensmile published their Love Bug fanfic on Fanfiction.net & posted their art on DeviantArt, I was HOOKED! If that was the ONLY sequel we ever got to Wreck-it Ralph, I would’ve died happy.

Then Disney announced the official sequel. And like the rest of the world, I was PUMPED! A little confused because Ralph didn’t have anything to do with the Internet and it seemed odd to get the arcade characters out of the arcade, but I was hopeful. After all, the first movie was beloved by old school gamers, new gamers, and folks who only knew Pokémon (I.e. me). SURELY they’d know what they were doing with online gaming!

And then I saw the sequel.

There are a lot of scenes from Wreck-it Ralph that live in my head. I saw the movie at least 4 times in theaters, and when the movie went on sale I was there the day it dropped to buy it & put the digital copy on my iPod. But you know that scene when Ralph destroys Vanellope’s go kart while she’s stuck in the tree, and she’s BEGGING him not to, SCREAMING in agony as he obliterates the first thing he ever made that someone saw value in, the promise of her future, a symbol of their shared outcast status but still being worthy? And you can SEE the misery in Ralph’s face, how he HATES doing this, but keeps going because he thinks he has to for the greater good?

Yeah, that’s what Ralph Breaks the Internet did to my perception of Wreck-it Ralph.

Gone were any traces of nuance, maturity, introspection, or even basic intelligence. NOW Ralph is a gross idiot who is SUPER clingy to Vanellope, regularly abandons his game during arcade hours (which, in case folks forgot from the first movie, was a SUPER BIG DEAL THAT COULD’VE ENDED HIS WORLD & KILLED THE NICELANDERS), throws temper tantrums & blubbers like a baby when things don’t go his way. Ralph goes OUT OF HIS WAY to endanger Vanellope just to keep her close, and he NEVER holds himself accountable! The first movie was all about Ralph learning that self worth can’t be measured in medals, but in the sequel he is CONSTANTLY flashing his cookie medal like it’s supposed to mean something. Don’t even get me STARTED on all the fat jokes. And even BEFORE Ralph ruins Sugar Rush, you get the sense that while HE’S obsessed with Vanellope & their friendship, Vanellope is feeling suffocated by this relationship & is desperate to get away from him.

The press releases said the movie was supposed to be about friends growing apart and going away but keeping the bonds of friendship. But to me? The whole thing felt like Disney was saying “Hey, YOU. Yeah, the IDIOT who thought they LIKED this giant man-baby moron? You’re super clingy and stupid. Don’t bother making friends - you’ll smother them with your attempts to bond. They can do so much better than you, and you’re only holding them back. Now, who wants to watch us add insult to injury by stuffing this gorilla in a dress designed for a 14-year-old princess?”

Again, I don’t think that was the INTENDED message of the movie. But it was just SO mean-spirited, especially when compared to the uplifting messages of the first movie. Which I guess was inevitable for a movie trying to be about the Internet, but still.

So, yeah. I had to step away from the franchise. And it HURT! This story - this character - was such a huge part of my life for years, and I had to cut it out. There were periods of time when I’d forget about the franchise for a bit, or have More Important Things to worry about (like that global pandemic, the nut job & his cult trying to overthrow the US government, normal life stuff). But then I’d be hit with a thought about the first movie out of nowhere, and I’d be happy until I remembered how the sequel killed all of its goodwill.

To this day I still have mixed feelings about Ralph. I get excited when he & Vanellope are included in multi-IP projects, then get sad when I remember the sequel, then get mad at myself for getting excited, then get disappointed when I see more Vanellope merch than Ralph merch, then get mad again when I remember how badly the sequel burned me. AND HE’S NOT REAL!!! I’m being driven insane by a guy WHO DOESN’T EVEN EXIST!!!

When Disney announced their version of Animal Crossing, Dreamlight Valley, Ralph & Vanellope were two of the characters featured in the trailer. Two years later we got Vanellope, but the closest we’ve gotten to Ralph is an in-game chess piece. Meanwhile Vanellope’s getting some great interactions with Mike & Sully of Monsters Inc, with Sully taking a paternal shine to Vanellope. And now I’m constantly begging the Dreamlight Valley social medias for updates about Ralph. I’m excited to see him, but also worried because I don’t know if we’ll get the nuanced Bad Guy from Wreck-it Ralph or the clingy buffoon from Ralph Breaks the Internet. I know John C. Reilly won’t be voicing him (because he NEVER voices Ralph outside of the movies & Once Upon a Studio), but I’m also kind of hoping he will? I don’t know if I want my avatar to hug him, or punch him, or leave him stranded in the Vitalys mines, or love-bomb him with cookie medals, or just leave him off mode. I have a space saved right in front of my in-game house for HIS in-game house, but I might just spend the rest of the game on Eternity Isle so I never have to see him.

And again, this is all for some WHO IS NOT REAL!!!!! I know I have problems, I KNOW there’s SO MUCH MORE to worry about than an imaginary guy with ginormous hands! I WISH I could just not care about him, or his movie, or any fictional stories! I WISH I could go on a Disney Cruise and NOT look for his face in the Art of Animation wall art or in the kids’ area wall art! I WISH I could stop looking for him in Disney Lorcana, or mystery mini lines, or multi-IP books! But I also know I can’t. If I let myself give up on him, if I let Disney WIN? He’ll be Forgotten. Locked in that vault with no chance for redemption. There have been too many other characters to suffer that fate. Like Oswald. And I can’t let characters like Oswald or Ralph be forgotten.

The church's bell has a ringing just like when the bright light goes inside of the white church to make it even more beautiful. So many people are here for the wedding of Felix and Calhoun. For some of them this might be the first wedding they ever see but no one ever feels special but also nervousness more than Felix himself

His big blue eyes looked around the place with a soft smile. Most of his friends are here even Ralph after what they have faced before look like they become good friends like never before. The smile started to get a bit nervous when he saw The hero's duty' soldier with full armor and their big weapon. Can't blame them, the thing that happened to his future wife is terrible but everyone make sure that it'll never happened again

" I hate to be in this dress!? How long will this take? "

The voice of the little girl attracts Felix's attention; it belongs to Vanellope, the kid that Ralph has been helping during the cybug day thing. She look uncomfortable in that little pink dress

" Well, kinda a while but after the kiss can change back to your normal clothes "

He replied her before then the bell is ringing again it's a sign for everyone to stay in there place

Soon, sounds of Wedding music start as a background.The handyman standing with priest waiting the bride to come out and not for long the tall woman with beautiful white dress slowly walking out of the big door

Felix's eyes can't get away from her. He had never seen someone so beautiful before in his life... That make him smiling with happiness

Everyone looks at Calhoun like he's the brightest diamond of this place. Two sugar rush's racer following her as a flower girl they both look nice to in cute white little dressed with flowers crown on their head

He started to look around again... Everything looks perfect, everyone seems to be full of joy just like himself... Until he saw someone that shouldn't be here

His blue eyes open wide, it's a shock more than surprising. Among the soldier in big black armor there's little short man that almost can't see sitting with them

The soft gray skin with bright yellow eyes, short black abyss hair surrounded with red glitch all over his body... That guy is Turbo

But it's impossible!? He should be dead already but looks like it's only Felix who can see the racer everyone around Turbo act like he wasn't there. But even more surprised when Turbo is also wearing the white tuxedo along with red flowers on his chest that's kinda fit on him

As long as he looks at the racer it makes the handyman feel like seeing a ghost. It was confusing and scary until they looked each other in the eyes... Turbo start giving him a warm smile before thumbs-up for Felix like what he usually does back in the old day

Felix can't look away from Turbo. Why is he doing that? Why is he here.. but when he looks deep into the bright yellow it looks.. a little bit sad?

" Is there something wrong? "

Calhoun's voice makes him flash to reality again. The handyman quickly looking back at her have no idea when did she stand front of him with that confused face

" Oh- it's... " He look back at the place Turbo was to sit but.. he's no longer there

The racer gone just like a ghost

" ... it's nothing, dear. Let continue this "

He replied to her to make everything back to normal again. But deep inside Felix can't get those golden eyes out of him mind

i remember back in like 2015/2016 there was a fic that i’m sure got deleted bc i remember the name and it just doesn’t exist anymore :,)

it was called Big Hero Glitch and it was a wreck-it ralph/big hero 6 crossover where all the video game characters were human with normal names (i’m pretty sure vanellope was vivian but the former was still her nickname, etc etc) and ralph was vanellope’s uncle, and she and hiro were long lost childhood friends who reunited a few years after the events of bh6

the fic was discontinued before it was deleted i think, there were like 5-7 chapters and they were so well written and it was really building up to a cool story where vanellope was clearly gonna join the heroes wearing this glitchy teleportation suit they were working on and aaaaa

i know there’s no hope of finding it and even if there were it’s a wip i just wanted to rant about it it’s been in my head rent free since 6th grade

i swear to god im going insane, if anyone ever happens to care about specifically the sugar rush speedway adaptations i'm making this post for them and also so i don't forget this stuff. also i just have the energy to write about the stuff today lol

Info may be incomplete because I wrote this at 2 am and set it to queue

Sugar Rush is one of the fictional games from the Disney movie Wreck-it Ralph. it's a kart racer game similar to Mario Kart, but with a sweets and candies theme. alongside other games like Fix-it Felix jr, Hero's Duty and Turbotime, this game had multiple game adaptations and related minigames. here im gonna talk about 3 adaptations: Sugar Rush Speedway, LEAP Motion Sugar Rush Speedway App and the "Baking" and "Racing" games from the Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe. i'll be ignoring the Sweet Climber minigame from the wreck it ralph app because its a simple endless jumping game.

ill try to go from my percieved idea of which one is more popular, in descending order.

Sugar Rush Speedway

if you remember having played a sugar rush game, it was probably this one. available as a browser game until it stopped being playable beyond the first map because of a game error and it was later removed somewhere in 2018.

can you still play this version of sugar rush? yeah...but not officially, it is available and fully playable on Bluemaxima's Flashpoint (god save flashpoint)

its got 4 cups, each cup being 1 track normally, in reverse and flipped. you go trough 3 laps in most of these.

it has all 10 sugar rush racers, plus you can unlock king candy trough the code KINGCANDY (wow, original) but it does not include vanellope or the recolors. there is also a lost japanese version whose only diference was that it replaced Minty Saki with Minty Sakura and the code to unlock King Candy was 7ELEVEN (lol). items work just like any common denominator kart racer, random items from an item box.

since this game was released very closely to the movie's release, some of the stuff is based on concept art and deviates from the game we see in the movie, also the graphics are a bit unpolished as it is expected for a browser game from that time, more info and images on the wiki.

Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe Games

the wreck it ralph storybook deluxe app was a paid app that, as it says, has the story of wreck it ralph in storybook form, alongside a game you can play. the app costed money and its been retired from both the play store and the app store.

is this version of sugar rush still playable? no. unless you have the app still installed on an old phone, i have the apk but it doesnt work on modern phones.

there are two "games" from the wreck it ralph storybook app, the Bake one, which corresponds to a simplified and less gimicky version of the bake-a-kart minigame, where you get to customize your kart. and the "Racing" game, which is, of course, a few sugar rush courses. 3 in this case, and 3 diferent difficulties as well.

unlike the other game, this one only has 4 of the sugar rush racers, but it also has vanellope, which automatically makes this the superiorest version of them all. in this version instead of random items you get character specific abilities.

LEAP Motion Sugar Rush Speedway

im kicking and biting and maiming and

the sugar rush speedway app for leap motion it's a purchasble app from the leap motion store, while its meant to be used with a leap motion device that tracks your hand movement it can be played without, its the same game as the browser sugar rush speedway with a few key changes: the races are only one lap, the graphics have been enhanced, and it had a bake-a-kart mode more similar to that in the movie.

is this version of sugar rush still playable? hell no, unless you had it installed previous to the shut down of the leap store.

some other changes are that king candy is no longer playable and one of the items is missing, i've only found 6 videos on youtube and a few screenshots of the game, more images and info on the wiki.

while some of the game content is out there and someone probably still has a copy, at least in my opinion, the playable game could be considered partially lost media,
