Think in concrete terms. When we can measure our progress, then we know that things are improving. There is no way to accomplish an abstract goal...because you'll never be sure if you're finished or not. So...if you want to be a better worker a better parent a better friend a better spouse..... like most of us, we all have these kind of hopes, vague hopes. The problem with these kinds of ideas is that they are NOT specific. And if you don't know what you want exactly, be careful...because you will will more of that to you... So if you really want to be a better worker, for example, what does that mean? How does someone do that? How do YOU do that? How will you know when you have that? What does it look like, feel like and how are you now perceived...and by whom? When I work with my clients for goal setting and manifesting we get very clear and direct with what we would like to achieve. We dive into how to think about what it is we are wanting, and then acknowledge what are are already doing or what we can do to accomplish that. This week you might be checking off your to do list and you might be thinking of some goals you've got as well.... I want to make this task less time consuming I want to make it to all my daughter's soccer games I want to make dinner for my family one more day each week. Fitness Friday - It's Go Time! Warm-up with 5- 10 minutes of light cardio, then dynamic stretches (leg swings, arm circles, etc.). After the workout, cool down with light cardio (walking, etc.) to bring down the heart rate, and then stretch. What's Cookin' Wednesday? Baked Zucchini Chips...what else? These veggie chips take a little investment in time, but they are simple, healthy and very tasty – definitely worth the effort. Here’s a tip: set a timer for every 30 minutes so you can check on their progress and flip them over as needed so they crisp up properly. Depending on how thick you slice them and how hydrated each zucchini is, some chips might be ready sooner than others. WHAT YOU NEED: 3-4 washed zucchini, sliced about ⅛-inch thin (you can use a mandoline for this) 2-3 tbsp olive, almond or melted coconut oil 2-3 tbs finely chopped basil Salt, pepper, and/or spices like rosemary and thyme, to taste ** Optional - parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top WHAT YOU DO: Place the zucchini slices in a single layer on paper towel for about 20 minutes so they dry out a bit. Pat off any excess moisture, then place the slices in a large bowl. Toss with 2 tablespoons of oil and season with salt and pepper. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Lightly oil a baking sheet (or two, depending how many slices your zucchinis yield) or use cooking spray. Did you know that your physical body is just like everything else....it is profoundly affected by the beliefs you hold. And as you get older, we slowly start to degenerate. Older people often experience more illness and less vitality. But the reason for the decline of people as they get older is not because of their physical bodies that are programmed to break down over time...but because the longer we try to live, the more we find to fuss and worry about causing resistance to our natural stream of well-being. There are some people who are super "young" for 80 or even 90 years old - like my grandmother (95, though she's getting up there)....and then there are some people who are just in their 40s or 50s and have a much "older" vibe to them. How do you feel when you think about new behavior? Sometimes something new seems overwhelming. Maybe you don't know where to start or know even exactly what you are doing. Maybe you even feel intimidated by who might be watching you or what people might think...or how they might judge you...or you might even judge yourself... The more you think about this new thing can be so overthought it starts to feel like a form of punishment. But part of you wants to do it because you know how much better you'd feel...and another part feels that it MIGHT not be worth the effort. You probably notice that when you ask yourself how you feel you may find your reasons for not wanting to do something not match the story you were originally telling yourself. I often hear people say they don't have the time to do something, but when digging deeper into how they actually feel about doing it they express things like fear and being overwhelmed. - like going to the gym, someone may be telling herself she doesn't go because she's tired, but in reality she's intimidated by what others may think of her or confused by all the different exercises and doesn't know where to start.
