1932 Carlos Bady, Mado se Déshabille. La Journée de Mado. Illustration from La Journee de Mado published by Galerie Lutetia, Paris. Produced as one of the last pochoir pieces of the era during the harsh economic times that followed 1929 when many of the smaller couture houses had closed and several of the great illustrators had joined Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar to help ensure steady work. In the early 1930’s there was still a market for small specialty albums featuring story-based fashion design and the Parisian publishers continued to produce limited works by such artists as Paul Allier, Raoul Dufy and Carlos Bady. (x)
Carlos Bady - 'Mado se Déshabille', 'Mado se Maquille', 'Mado Babille', 'Mado S'Habille', four prints coloured in pochoir, published for La Journée de Mado circa 1932.
