"Father, while I consider this behaviour embarrassing, I think it best if we let it play out naturally," Damian's eyes were glued to the screen, following the movements with an intense focus and a slight vindictive gleam.

"Who you going for little man," Hal grinned at Damian. He seemed suddenly unaffected by the secret-family scandal in the face of young violence.

"I've got my money on Dick, honestly," Barry said, "kid's fueled by pure rage."

"If you're quite done being entertained by my children fighting each other," Bruce started, reaching max levels of irritability once more. Any calm that came with knowing his family was relatively safe had been spoiled by the absolute stress of everything else that followed.

Cass + ballet 🩰 (ft. supportive siblings and good dad Bruce)

I love the idea of Cass enjoying dance. It's an outlet that allows her to express herself without words, and I think she would enjoy the highly technical aspect of ballet combined with its storytelling and emotional side. and as a former dancer I always have fun imagining my fav characters do ballet :)

pull up the ladder when the flood comes by mintchocochips (gen), 4k, Cass Cain-centric Black Bat is operating in Hong Kong. Bruce is dead. A hell of a lot of people are dead. Cass is trying her damnedest not to drown. She doesn't want anyone else to drown either. She just wants to be good. She is maybe, just maybe, not okay.

charity by Valkrin (gen), 7k, Different First Meeting, Bad Parent!Drakes The biggest downside of being adopted by Bruce Wayne is putting up with rich people events, including one where Jason will be in a room with a bunch of rich kids for a couple very long hours while Bruce goes to the adults' meeting. Jason is ready for a very bad time but the Drake kid listens to him from the start and keeps backing up Jason's ideas even though they've never met. Jason warms up to Tim Drake long before Mad Hatter tries to take over the meeting and Tim backs him up again.

And second, ingratiate himself with the mysterious Warlord’s daughter and heir apparent, Princess Cirilla. Sir Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach, a Vicovaran knight, has been assigned to protect young Prince Voorhis on this mission. Prince Voorhis may be the best of a bad lot, but Cahir’s still not looking forward to the threats or the temperature of a winter in the distant North. They both know their mission is a dangerous one. But they don’t know where the true danger lies…and while they know how to navigate Nilfgaard’s treacherous court, they are not prepared for Kaer Morhen. Or: Perhaps the trio is inevitable everywhere, but in this variation, none of them are in Gryffindor, and they do their best to build things anyway.

CROSSOVER While You Were Missing by basil_coffee_and White Collar x Batman (Jason Todd/Roy Harper), 23k, Accidental Baby Acquisition, Jason!Neal A familiar redheaded child darts across the bullpen with a shout of “PAPA!” and barrels into Jason’s arms. “Lian–” He breathes. Jason's undercover work as Neal Caffrey is difficult for several reasons. He didn't anticipate that single parenting would be one of them, though.

oh my god what an underrated dynamic. yeah I have a few but not nearly enough unfortunately :/

in Homeward Bound Red Hood and Black Swan (Cass) show up and start heroing but nobody knows who they are. the JLA think Red Hood is a meta. it's a long while before his identity gets revealed. we don't actually see Cass and Jason interact that often because the point of the story is that people can't figure out who either of them are so it's almost outsider POV but their relationship is basically at the center of the story

river on the run is a series entirely dedicated to their relationship, super sweet

Nests and Cages is actually pretty plotty but spoiler warning it turns out Lady Shiva is Jason's mother. the last fic in the series is basically unrelated crack but the whole thing is great. it's also a jason-comes-back-home au which is one of my favorite things as y'all know

anyway yeah not that many but two of these are series so it's a nice amount of content, enjoy!!!

yeah! cass research!! one of my favourite topics!! ur in luck cause her character bible is batgirl (2000) by kelley puckett, and it’s a really exceptional comic that tells u everything u need to know about cass. i’d read no man’s land first because that’s her formal character introduction, and u also get some great character moments for helena! then batgirl, then bruce wayne murderer + fugitive to see how she operates with the gotham supporting cast. after that we tragically enter the dan didio dark ages (derogatory) but she still briefly appears in batgirl 2009 and red robin. i’d also read gates of gotham for some fun interactions with damian. that should give u a very solid foundation, and u will know how to judge if a comic she’s in is worth reading. do not read one year later under any circumstances. there is no one year later in dc canon.

as for helena i haven’t read a tonne of her solo stuff — huntress 1989 is probably the best place to start for her origin, and cry for the huntress was an arc in the 90s robin ongoing. gail simone’s birds of prey is a classic, obvsly, and she’s great in no man’s land, but i’d also recommend cry for blood by greg rucka and huntress: year one. i really wish she was around more in group stuff — aside from the birds, she’s a great pairing for kate kane and tim drake.

wrt to writing cass my only advice is that she isn’t placid or silent, she’s like if bruce wayne was a seventeen year old girl (indescribable torment). no one has ever cared about human life the way cass cain has.
