truthfully, this is a race in which i don't remember much of what was happening in the REST of my life while watching it. that's not a bad thing, but it does make these messages shorter. or it would be. if it weren't for ONE thing 😁☝️🌷💌💌💕💕💕✨✨💥💥💥💥💥💥‼️‼️‼️‼️

so, one thing that happened during this race weekend is that i started tagging all the weekends as they were happening! my tag for 2023 canada was canada gp 2023 ‼️‼️‼️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🌷💕✨🥺 it's so much fun looking back on everything i posted, i'm so glad i made that tagging system work for meeee :3 🍁💌🕊️🥰🥰💥 so from here on out: expect more random photodumps LOL 😁😁😁 and more clear experiences‼️‼️‼️‼️ so that means longer race messages‼️‼️‼️

as for my personal life? idk man same as before. texting emma and quinine all day getting tipsy at 4 pm and writing fanfiction i was very genuinely living my dream life atp. i need to go back this fuckass internship isnt it rn (i am exhausted)... for some reason i decided to watch free practice, which actually turned out to be nice because the pollen made everything VERY interesting :3 🌼🌼🌼 to watch at least LOL it was nice to see the pollen flying arouuundd the wind 🍃🌬️🎐

qualifying was AMAZING... i didn't like to see charles go out early yet again, but what do you do 💔💔💔 the groundhogs were absolutely hilarious though, can't believe i forgot about that jdhjdgfgf ✨✨✨🐿️🇨🇦 and rain!!! rain i like rain my best friend rain 🌧️🌧️🌧️ it was AMAZING seeing alex p1 for a little bit, and it was very fun watching quali with my brother and dad 💕💕🌷🌷🌞🌞 i was very very happy when max got pole, as i always am 🥰🥰🙏🙏💕💕💕 also max was VERY very adorable with fernando after qualifying, leaning into him and just happily maxplaining... my baby boy... my sun... 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺💥💥💥💕💕💕💕‼️‼️‼️‼️

OPEN HEART: THIRD YEAR CHAPTER 2 thoughts and opinions

This chapter was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. With Baz leaving the team and the psychic telling MC that Ethan is 10x happier when she is in the room. I think my heart has officially burst.

I am glad that Baz is only leaving the team and not the hospital so hopefully PB still write him into the rest of the book because I think we can all agree that Baz is a fan fave. An absolute angel if I do say so myself. Ethan and MCs little affectionate touches and looks are really melting my heart. I adore the fact that Ethan calms down as soon as MC looks at him or touches his hand. They are truly soulmates and I love that Ethan and MC are finally together. Even if it isn’t official official yet!!! So obviously we were all fuming with this whole Harper x MC jealously storyline but I got the feeling today that it was more that MC feels she isn’t being heard, rather than Harper and Ethan flirting. I think that it is going to be really interesting to explore this storyline in the coming chapters, but I just hope PB don’t try and force MC to hate Harper. It is never going to happen, get over it.

I absolutely loved the patient storyline in this chapter. And the diamond scene that came along with it is also a favourite of mine. Obviously, Ethan didn’t believe in his psychic abilities until the patient predicted his breakfast for the morning and proved him wrong. I loved seeing Ethan be played by a patient XD. Then he made a comment about MC not knowing whether to trust Harper. I think we all know that MC feel likes that but I would like to know why. Does MC not trust Harper around Ethan? Or is it more that she doesn’t trust Harpers intentions? Overall I hate the fact that PB are trying to create tension between them but I understand that it is only the beginning of the storyline so there is still SO much more to explore. I chose to do the diamond scene because I was too in love with the patient to not. AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. First, Andrew and MC spoke to Sienna. I thought that it was a really sweet interaction between the three of them and obviously we all adore Sienna so any scene with her in is great! After that we moved onto Zaid and I am so so happy that we got to see Zaid again buttt where is the main man himself. Naveen? I miss when he used to make snarky comments to Ethan about him being in love with MC, imagine him now that they are together. We want him back. Anyway, my personal fave was next Ethan. I did love the fact that all 4 of the MCs were an option though. “You mean besides what he’d be doing with you right now if the two of you were alone?” Erm... I am so sorry what would we being doing Mr Ramsey?!? I was ready to kick the patient out of his wheelchair at that point for a 30 diamond scene. But then we wouldn’t have found out that Ethan was 10x happier since MC had walked through the door. Tell me that isn’t the cutest thing ever. You can’t. And then his comment telling the patient to stop whilst he still has dignity left, clearly the comments were true then Ethan 😏. THEN HE TURNED RED. Cuteness overload. I think so. FYI, if Ethan doesn’t surprise MC and take us to his undisclosed favourite holiday destination by the end of this book, I will riot. @playchoices take notes.

Ethan and MC interviewing together was the cutest shiz ever. When he said that he missed us and wanted to spend some time alone I almost crumbled. I am a sucker for a love story where the guy is a dick to everyone but his love. They KILL me. Them whispering into each other’s ear was the sweetest. They are so comfortable with each other, I can NOT deal. I did really like the last candidate but tbh no one can replace Baz. I love that man. The way I was shocked when MC and Ethan actually kissed in public. I am so not used to Ethan being so open in public but god I Iove it. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. And then walking into the hospital holding hands. When is the wedding because I am ready. I am hoping for some scenes outside of the hospital soon since we have only had scenes with them at work but obviously it is only chapter 2 so I presume they will be coming soon.

Jackie the queen herself got Chief Resident. As she should. It is very well deserved and we were able to throw a party which I really enjoyed. The party scenes were so fun with all of our co workers. The karaoke with Sienna and the video games with Elijah. They truly are a family and I’m obsessed!!

MC being the absolute medical dictionary herself ended up diagnosing the patient. Obviously because she is a genius. And then the freak himself Leland Bloom was stood at the door watching us. I have such bad vibes from him for the correct reasons, I suspect as the patient later confirmed we should be careful around him. I hate the fact he is so focused in on the diagnostics team like he always just shows up at the most inconvenient times. Like please leave, no one invited you. He definitely has it out for Ethan.

I absolutely loved this chapter and the diamond scenes in it. I really enjoy the fact that PB are also focusing on developing more scenes between MC and her friends because I feel like towards the end of the second book they were kinda forgotten. But now that Raf is back they are back together as a family which I love so so so much. Also the Ethan x MC scenes really killed me off today. These kind of subtle flirtatious glances will be the death of me. I am predicting it now.

Can I just say that I appreciate your post on r-spawning so much? You're the only person on tumblr who I've seen who isn't being a complete asshat about it. As someone living in an abusive environment and has been struggling with a lot of mental health issues, I despise what I can only call "forced-lifers" who try to ram their "you're meant to be here! pull up your bootstraps and stick it out" agenda down ppl's throats. I agree it does seem forced though I don't give it a name. I tend to just ignore it. For me, I don't ever want to come across as, or be, someone who is hateful towards respawners or other subcategories of shifting. I'm kind of in a middle lane, I don't want someone to die physically but is it really my right to decide? No. Nor can I stop it, so what's the point of excluding others? There is none. I fully acknowledge it can trigger other people, it can be confusing, or a touchy subject. That's totally valid! But having a forced attitude to "stay" isn't right in general.

For example, if a friend told you they wanted to end their life and you told them "no you must stay, you're not welcome to talk to me, don't speak to me, etc" then there's something wrong there. It's not necessarily the "staying part" that's the issue, in my opinion. I see it as the more of the forceful and low-key hate that's a result if you don't listen to them when you refuse to stay. It's really rude and disgusting in general. If they claim to want people to stay and live but then have a forceful and hateful attitude then W H A T . (And no I'm not pointing fingers, I just see it pop up every now and then.) If they truly want to "help" (as they say) then they shouldn't push someone away immediately just for saying it. It's not right.

I fully acknowledge, again, it can trigger some people by the mention of death. But in no way should someone completely exclude someone but then say they support anyone who wants help. (Unless you're triggered by the mention of death but even then please ignore the topic and take care of yourself. Triggers are hard to deal with but it's also hard on the other side too.) Respawners aren't mentally ill (And, FYI, mental illness shouldn't be treated as an insult.) And respawners don't always "need help." To be clear, there are different types of respawners. There's people who want to respawn to not come back (which can be done with shifting as well), there are people who respawn for spiritual reasons which has been a practice for years, and so on.

I think the only time I have a problem with Respawning is when it turns dangerous. For example, someone doesn't care if they shift or not in the process. Which is a different type of respawner entirely. And again, I don't support the action when it turns into that but I will fully support the person. Life can be really tough and when someone doesn't care if they shift or not in the process is when I really want to go to their house and violently care for them. Obviously, I can't because 1) Social distancing 2) I'm not allowed on social media so it would be hard to explain JDBSJDND 3) I'm not sure they would consent to me coming to their house 4) Caring or loving someone doesn't solve the issue 9 times out of 10.

BUT, back on the topic. What I'm trying to say is when someone is like that, don't push them away. Respawners are still people. People will emotions. Pushing someone away isn't really helping their "you should stay" point. Because it just makes them look rude or with a goodie goodie attitude that really isn't goodie goodie.

Another thing, I'm sorry that you've gone through that and honestly the behavior is beyond rude. I'm not saying I should force people to accept eachother because obviously it's 2021 and it's the internet, no one is going to get along completely. But I would like the community to AcTuaLlY do some effort into accepting respawners OR AT LEAST accept that they are also a part of social media and excluding them isn't going to do anything. It's the internet.

Honestly, I won't ever understand what you've been through because I'm not you. But if you're really sure Respawning is for you then I won't object. Like I said, I'm in the middle lane right now because that's where I want to be - but I'll support you as a person and, again, I'm really proud of you for getting this far and actually choosing to go find another life. It's a difficult decision for people in abusive situations to choose a new life. It often comes with guilt, questioning, and worry (and I'm sorry in advance if that's not your case and I'm assuming.) But to put it short, I'm really proud of you for choosing to have a new life instead of just ending it without any plans. Yeah I know Respawning it technically death but I'm proud of you for at least choosing it instead of leaving entirely without it. You're worthy of a new life and I'm still very proud of you for making it this far.

How have you come to read Berserk? Do you remember what your thoughts and impressions were while reading this story for the first time?

I actually watched the 97 anime first. I watched it with a friend like a decade ago and I don’t remember those first impressions very well because a lot of weed was involved lol. But I do know I thought I’d be bored by it and ended up surprisingly invested and engaged. I of course shipped griffguts and I was definitely shocked at how close to canon it was, with scenes like Casca’s cave monologue and Griff’s torture chamber monologue.

Then I found the Band of the Hawk scanlation and read that bc I wanted more, though I often found it confusing. I actually just checked and realized I still have a little wordpad doc I wrote notes in back then while I was reading it. So here’s some highlights:

- I adored both Guts and Griffith, and I called Guts “Gatts,” thanks to the scanlation.

- I found their trauma backstories really fascinating since I’d never rly seen that with male characters before.

- I hated Puck a lot lol :(

- From around the Lost Children arc: Hell, he's doing the same as Griffith did - building a mountain of bodies. I predict that he will eventually use the Behelit, and his sacrifice will be... Griffith! Because enemies can also be the most important person to you. But then he will turn it down. Also if he takes Jill, she'll be the Casca to his Griffith. Waaaiiit... if they explicitly state that it's a possibility Gatts'll use the Behelit and get all demon-y... well, obviously the temptation will be soon, and he'll say no. Not a climax as such. Just an event. Damn. Well, unless a central theme of the rest of this is Gatts' temptation to monsterize himself.

- bb me still knew what was up re: Griff: He's not sociopathic, he's just so singleminded that he'll do anything for his goal. I was going to say that he's so single minded that he doesn't care what he does for his goal, but that's not true - he DOES care, he just does it anyway.

- I was getting bored with the Millenium Falcon arc and didn’t care about any of the new characters aside from kind of liking Serpico and absolutely hating Isidro. I didn’t say anything about Farnese but I do have a vague memory of getting excited that there was another female soldier character followed immediately by disappointment that she can’t actually fight. So if I didn’t like her back then that’s probably why.

- I was a little disappointed when Guts got the berserk armour because fight scenes aren’t as cool when the protag has a magic power up. I was right tbh.

- I seem to have quit writing around the beach chapters. I think I did actually drop it around there probably, I’d already taken one break and I was forgetting stuff and generally losing the thread of the story iirc.

also I believed Griffith was very likely to get redeemed at the end? Here’s my “reasoning” lol:

Consise, laid-out reasoning why Griffith will be redeemed. He'll probably die right afterwards, but he will certainly sacrifice himself in an act of redemption. 1. The slug-dude did so for his daughter in an act of foreshadowy self-sacrifice. 2. Skull-knight dude tells Gatts that he perhaps has the power to stop fate or whatever. 3. Griffith's whole friendship speech that throws everything in motion. It's super important, but one aspect that is truly important is that for him to call someone a friend, he has to be an equal - following his own dream, etc. When he becomes Femto, this gives Gatts the motivation he needs to get real. If Femto/Griffith eventually sees Gatts as his equal, this metaphorically equals friendship. Of course this will manifest in a respectful arch-enemy thing, once Femto learns to truly fear Gatts, but the metaphor is still there and it will come out when he eventually DOES sacrifice himself because he can't bear to lose his one equal/bff/etc. It will be very Final Gameish. 4. The only man who made Griffith forget his dream is Gatts. Gatts has a huge amount of power over Griffith in regards to his desire to rule everything. 5. Portions of the story are still seen from Griffith's point of view - indeed, a humanized Femto - and this gives me great hope that during these bits we'll see more greyscale characterization. 6. Also in a weird way they kind of have a child together apparently. Idk. 7. Based on the whole sequence before The Golden Age, Gatts gets dark. And ruthless. Mirroring Griffith's transformation, just a bit. 8. Also the fact that Gatts has a freaking

I didn’t fail to copypaste it properly, I just never finished that sentence. But it was probably “behelit” if I gotta guess. Final Game def references the never-made 70s Doctor Who episode where the Master was going to sacrifice himself to save the Doctor, fyi, not the Sherlock Holmes story. Me lowkey comparing every hero/villain dynamic to Doctor/Master when I was 20 is presumably why I assumed they’d get to a respectful arch nemeses vibe lmao.

I guess tbf I wasn’t talking about a redemption arc so much as a humanizing death lol, I just wouldn’t call that a redemption now. I don’t completely disagree with my past self, though I def had some dumb ideas.

It sucks that I dropped it before all the good parts of the MF arc tbh, Griffith vs Ganishka and Guts and Zodd teaming up etc. I wonder what I would’ve thought of it.

But let’s get started with Episode 5:

Okay, pleated skirt soldier boss guy chases the grandparents away and then wants to take the two mini wangjis with him. But the tree undies master guy isn't having any of it. So pleated skirt soldier boss guy isn't on anybody’s side. I see.

And there is another mention of 5 lakes abusing their power. Ominous.

The kids even wanna stay with tree guy. Must be bad.

Oooooh, pleated skirt soldier boss guy is indeed after the glazed armor.

Oh, uncle Zhao and his peeps and everybody come to the rescue.

And uncle Zhao respects tree guy's wish to keep the wangjis. Is he genuinely a nice guy or just worried about everybody around, including Baby Xu and Smirky Xing and the kid?

Ooooh, super pretty scenery. Why can't we all live in places like that?

Wheee, they get to feast with the family. And Smirky Xing is reciting poetry again. Everybody likes him it seems.

Oh and he's chased by a ghost. And there's the smiley potato things flying in again. So the red masked ghost gang?

Pleated skirt soldier boss guy acts like an ass around the kid, encouraging him to drink along while drunk himself. What a jerk.

Uncle Zhao saves him and sends both to bed - individually i mean, obviously - , and seems genuinely nice, but I don't trust him still.

Whoa, pleated skirt soldier boss jerk guy is awake and just pretended! Even more of a jerk. What is he up to?

Oh, Baby Xu spots him and follows. Thank goodness, somebody needs to keep an eye on the mean guys.

There's some masked dark figure fighting with pleated skirt soldier boss jerk guy.

Something is going on at the main gate, and everybody runs there. Except maybe Smirky Xing, he's just cautious in general.

Oh no, somebody hung tree undies master guy outside the main gate. And it's raining smiley potatoes. Baby Xu is watching and they're all suspecting some happy ghost, because there's a batman-joker smile carved into the dead guys' faces. And happy ghost is apparently one of the masked ghost gang, which makes sense, because of the potato smiley paper crafts.

Oh, now they're worried about the kid. Was it a trap?

No, he's with Smirky Xing and Baby Xu. How did Baby Xu get back there so fast?

Okay, Smirky Xing says some masked ghost guys were going after the kid but were bad fighters and he instantly chased them away. But can that be trusted? If he himself is nuts guy, they wouldn't fight him, would they? But then again... if he were one of them, why would he spare the kid? None of this makes sense.

Okay, magenta leader guy isn't dead yet. He's in some bed, and somebody is lying in bed with him. Some woman. Who is she? Oh, she says she's a ghost. Wait, does he know her? So has she REALLY died, like a dead ghost, not one of those living ghosts?

Dude, stop begging, if she IS a ghost, she's not gonna let you go, you fool.

Oh, ghost girl channels her inner Arya Stark and drops her face for effect.

And magenta leader guy faints like a good damsel in distress.

Wait, she has a face again, but a different one (I think, not entirely sure) and she's one of the ten devils of ghost valley. A beauty ghost. Yeah, she's really pretty alright. And she's got a ton of friends with her.

Okay, what are they going to do with the unconscious guy? Kill him? They're just sharing make-up tips so far.

Baby Xu is trying to say goodbye to the kid. Aww, but the kid is gonna miss his dads. :(

There's a  flashback to some kid crying. There was also a name but I have no idea who he is. Was it Baby Xu?

Baby Xu sees a rooftop and flies up, I have no idea why. Was there something suspcious about the building? Huh?

Oh, somebody's pissed because their glazed armor got stolen. Ah it's pleated skirt soldier boss jerk guy and uncle Zhao who's not pissed just sad. Ohhh, so the ghost guys just wanted to steal the glazed armor and anything else was a decoy. I see.

Ahhhh, Baby Xu is on top of the roof, removing the tiles and listening in on their conversation, right when they say no outsider could know anything. Wow, they sure have a foolproof system.

Ok, 5 brothers of 5 lakes kept the 5 pieces of glazed armor? That does make sense.

Wait, why is nobody confused about pleated skirt soldier boss jerk guy being awake and sober all of a sudden????? Had uncle Zhao known that he was only pretending?

Man, that guy is made of pure anger and insults. If he dies at some point, he's probably gonna explode like a pinata hit by a dozen sticks at once, just because all the anger needs to get out first.

Ok, mad respect for uncle Zhao, because he is indeed a good guy it seems. He is capable of feeling guilt, and he doesn't want anything to do with the glazed armor anyway.

Okay, pleated skirt soldier boss jerk guy from now on will be called a-hole guy. Because, if the shoe fits...

BabyXu sees Smirky Xing flying away and is confused as to how he could also eavesdrop without being noticed by Baby Xu. I mean, that was Smirky Xing, wasn't it?

Oh, smirklord flying over the tree tops.

Yeah, Baby Xu, I wanna know too what Smirky Xing is up to.

Aww, "our little cheng ling". Smirky Xing is already feeling their dad status.

Oooooooh, Smirky Xing saved Baby Xu from the spiderweb wire stuff.

Okay, some ghost talk, I have no clue what's going on. lol

I'm focusing on the important details. Like Smirky Xing fishing for info on Baby Xu's virginity.

Wait, who's bleeding from above?

Ah, there's the sleeve cutting. Yes. Nice.

Oh the dead guy in the tree is the son of uncle Zhao? Wait, was he fighting with the dark masked guy? Not a-hole guy? Did I get them confused? I am so unable to understand anything, lol. I hate being faceblind. Somebody please let me know in the comments who did what while the manor was under attack.

Okay, dark masked guy's face is also shown and Bab Xu drops a name. I have no idea who that was, nor do I recognize the face. I'm so bad at this. Help?

WTH is "iron hook"??? Is that some special martial arts technique that only a few people can do?

Now they're speaking in riddles about animals. Owls, cicadas, yellow sparrows, praying mantisses. I have no idea what's happening. But it seems to be some sort of flirting.

Ok, now Smirky Xing says he's afraid of ghosts. I'm not sure if I believe that. He’s kinda looking a lot like nuts guy, after all, who is part of the ghost gang himself.

Oh, sure. When you're afraid of ghosts and more people dying... just go into the coffin house, because that makes so much sense.

Ooooh, Baby Xu saved Smirky Xing from the spider web stuff this time. Niiiiice.

Aww, they're asking each other who they are. So... does that mean Baby Xu is interested after all? Hehe

Smirky Xing answers that he's a good person. Yeah, like that's not the exact thing a bad guy would say. Not suspicious at all.

Why are there paper animals all over the place anyway? Can anybody tell me?

Also, who lit the incense sticks?

Why are they splitting up? That's how you end up dead in a horror movie, wth???

Wait, what? That's Smirky Xing's dad? His dad looks the same age as him? Is he hallucinating?

Whoa, why is it day time? Ohhh, blurred vision. Definitely something shady going on.

Baby Xu is hallucinating people too, I think. Leader of Four Season's Manor. Is that his dad? Zi Shu, wait, was that Baby Xu's real name?

Anyway, dad guy is doing an Anna impression and asking Elsa Xu to build a snowman.

Oh, Baby Xu saw through the hallucination. Got out of it by cutting himself. He really is into pain, isn't he?

Eww, zombie guys. What did I say about horror movies? But, nice make-up!

Oh no, Smirky Xing is still stuck in the visions.

And, more fabric is cut off. Baby Xu really doesn't like blood. Smirky Xing was not wrong.

HOLY SHIT! Smirky Xing called Baby Xu by his real name while hallucinating. So they DO know each other!!! :O

And THAT'S when they end the episode??? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, okay. I'm calm.

So, what have I learned: 5 lakes alliance can't be trusted. A-hole guy is a complete jerk. AND SMIRKY XING KNEW BABY XU WHEN HE WAS A KID!!! Also, side note, I miss my purple queen :(

Goals for the next episodes: Find out how they know each other!!! Also, why doesn't Baby Xu recognize Smirky Xing? Is he also disguised? I still need to work on the name chart thing, because there's new characters showing up in every episode and I'm so lost.

This one took a little longer to get out and for that, I’m sorry. It wasn’t clicking until just now. So, this is the unedited and rough version because as soon as I finished, I figured to hell with the editing process, just post it and be done. Yes, it’s still angst city. Yes, they’re both still being stubborn. BUT... they were finally kind of forced into interaction so yay? I guess? 

FYI, this is probably gonna be a mini fic, so there’s probably only about 9 or 10 actual chapters left of it. I never meant for it to be that long BUT... we’ll see... all depends on how well it actually goes over... Do with that what you will... Also, the OFC’s self worth issues are not going to magically disappear just because the story comes to some kind of conclusion. I believe I mentioned this once before, the ofc here has the same issues I do to an extent... Anyway, enjoy a little lingering sexual tension in this part?

[ ADAM ]

“Talking to her is probably a better idea than staring a hole through her, man.” Wardlow spoke up from beside Adam just as Adam poured himself another glass of whiskey. Adam took a long and thoughtful sip before shrugging.

“Obviously, there’s nothin to talk about.”

“And you’re an idiot if you believe that. Full offense meant.” Wardlow ordered his own drink and took a sip, eyes darting up to the screen mounted close to the ceiling  behind the bar. He chuckled at the score on the hockey game playing and then spoke up again. “All I’m saying is you don’t want one of the other guys stepping up and getting a shot you didn’t take. I mean, earlier… Did you not overhear Maxwell?”

“Oh yeah. I heard him. Why the fuck do you think I put him against the wall real quick like I did. It’s not my business if she chooses one of them though. Nothin’ I can do about it, either.” Adam shrugged, but deep down, it had him on edge. On top of everything else… He was having to deal with the fact that one night with Rosalie showed him just how much he didn’t want things to be one night only between the two of them.

Everything was turning into a massive clusterfuck that he couldn’t escape, no matter how far in the bottom of the bottle he tried burying himself.

The win tonight over his opponent felt like a hollow victory because just as the ref raised his hand it really sank in just how alone he felt and how well he’d managed to alienate himself from his friends. The fact that Rosalie was fine with a one night stand and wanted nothing further to do with him meant that he couldn’t share the moment with her, either.

But the problem with all of this was that the more he tried to go without talking about how he felt, the further down he tried to push it all, lately, that was the harder everything tried to push it’s way to the forefront. It was getting to a point where he felt like he was one breath away from exploding in frustration at any moment.

The more he tried to find Rosalie in back and at least clear the air between them, the better she seemed to get at making herself scarce.

Just as he found himself thinking about it, he happened to spot her, pushing her way through the crowd surrounding the bar at the other end of it. Banging on the wooden bartop noisily, she hopped up and down, shoving money at a bartender who came past and getting herself a bottle of Tito’s. Adam felt himself tense all over and whether or not he meant to, his eyes were fixed on her. He bit his lip and took a long sip from the glass and Wardlow cleared his throat. “If you don’t step up, Page. Someone else will. Women like that don’t stay single or lonely long at all. Trust me.”

Without another word, Wardlow was gone, leaving Adam to watch intently. He swore to himself and grumbled when Matt Jackson wandered right up to her, boldly leaning against her from behind and muttering something against her ear.

“Naturally, he’s gotta go there.” Adam grumbled to himself as the scowl took over. He watched the scene unfolding and maybe he was a little more amused than he should’ve been when he saw Rosalie rolling her eyes before she turned around. She suck popped a gum bubble and blew at her bangs. Every physical cue she was giving off read clear irritation and annoyance and yet… Matt was apparently determined.

,, Jackass even has roses. If he really gave a shit he’d know she liked sunflowers or daisies.” Adam found himself thinking. The thought lingered, annoying him all over again. No matter how much he wanted to be angry and hate his former friends, he knew deep down that everything they’d said to him the last time they all talked had unfortunately been true.

They may have set it all in motion, but he’d been the one who let it continue for so long. Then he’d been the one who exploded and went straight for self-destruct mode rather than doing what he should’ve done, beating their asses and getting his frustrations out there and putting it behind him. And all of that, his brain wasted no time in reminding him, trickled down to the situation with her, and his inability to even fathom taking a chance and speaking up about the way he really felt. And it bothered him because he knew that not only was he letting his friends slip through his fingers but now, a chance at being with her too.

And then, it happened. Rosalie happened to spot him sitting there, watching her. For a few seconds, she stared right back, teeth grazing against a full lower lip. Adam hated to admit it, but he felt a small surge of pride at the fact that he’d done a good enough job leaving marks behind their night together that the small bite mark just below her earlobe hadn’t really faded that much.  ,, then again, I was so desperate to leave any kind of sign that I even had her to myself  for one night that I really latched onto that spot at least 4 times. Was the hardest mark I left.” 

He must have been staring at the area pretty hard because her hand raised, fingertips settling right against the spot in question. She squirmed on her stool under his gaze and bit her lip. Adam shifted on his stool and took a deep breath, trying to will away the way he was starting to strain against his jeans. Because before that happened again, they needed to have a long and serious conversation.

She shotgunned a sip from the tequila bottle and swallowed hard, wincing at the way the alcohol must’ve burned it’s way down her throat and Adam raised his own glass, finishing it off without breaking his gaze with her.

Apparently, it was enough to be noticed by Matt, who glared at him before grumbling to himself and walking away for the time being. Neither of them were caving yet, the stare war still going on. If he were a more confident and far less anxious kind of guy, he’d almost swear that maybe the tequila was hitting her system and maybe, she was flirting across the room.

As soon as even the hint of that thought hit, Adam was on top of it, shoving it down deep before hope dared to have a chance to grow.

She sighed and the movement of her lips had his eyes locked there, following helplessly as her tongue dragged over the outline of her mouth. When she brushed shaggy bangs out of her eyes, Adam’s hand clenched because honestly, he just wanted to tangle his fingers up in her hair again, use his grip on the soft and thick locks to tug her mouth into his so deep that by the time the kiss broke they were breathing for each other.

She broke eye contact first, turning her attention to the doors of the sports bar and Adam tore his eyes off her, fixing them on his own drink.

,, if I don’t say something soon, I’m going to lose my damn mind.” 

[ ROSALIE ]

I could smell Matt Jackson before he even pressed against me from behind. The cologne he wore is not my favorite and it never has been. ,, It’s not my fault I prefer Adam’s natural scent to the overpowering notes of whatever the hell Matt is wearing all the time.” my brain chimed in and I quickly shoved the thought out.

I was here tonight because no fucking thanks to Adam’s earlier match and win, I needed a good stiff drink. ,, Is a good stiff drink not how I wound up in the situation I’m in right now though?” - my brain was at it again, nagging and being pesky. Between my own mind and my mom, I was dangerously close to exploding lately.

Matt pressed against me from behind, reaching past me to grab a soda he’d apparently ordered and I cringed to myself, eyes rolling as I prepared myself for what Matt felt was ‘his best game’. In truth, his best game is a fucking annoyance to me.

If I were going to hook up with a Jackson brother, I’d die before I ever considered Matt. Nick… Nick clearly has more going for him that’s not quite so…. Overpowering and annoying.

Not that I’ve ever given them any sort of actual thought in that regard, I’m just stating a fact.

“You drinking alone, Rosie?”

“Don’t call me that, Matt. I have a name.”

Matt chuckled in amusement. He was still pressing against me a little. I tensed and he seemed to finally take the fucking hint, stepping away a little. “You could bring your bottle and come over to where me and Nick are sitting. It’d keep Maxwell off your ass.”

“I’m here alone. As in, I want to drink this tequila all by myself. Nice try, Matt.” I responded, turning just enough to smirk up at him as my words hit their mark. He grumbled and bit his lip, shaking his head. “I don’t get it. Why not just give somebody a chance?”

“Why not just leave somebody alone, though? I’ve told every single one of you who keeps trying lately, I have zero interest. That what happened that night is not only not any of your business, but it was supposed to stay between me and Adam.”

“And yet, you were telling your friends.”

“I didn’t tell them!” I grumbled and rolled my eyes in frustration, blowing at hair that flopped into my eyes and I took a sip, continuing, “They knew something was wrong with me and they kept at me til they guessed. Not that it’s your business, Jackson.”

“You can call me Matt.”

“Can I call you gone already? Because I’m exhausted with this conversation. Look.. I get that you have a hard time hearing the word no. I get that you’re trying to pour on the charm and I get that you think you want me but trust me, Matt, you don’t. Nobody ever actually does.”

“That’s not true, hon.” Matt’s brows knit together as he looked me up and down, licking his lips. I grumbled and turned away, rolling my eyes as I knocked more of my bottle back.

Somehow, I found my eyes fixed on Adam in all this.

And I tried, but I couldn’t tear my eyes off him. And as I stared, all I kept seeing was that fire in his eyes earlier tonight during his singles match. The way he looked fired up and ready to take on the whole world. I was starting to get soaked all over again and I shifted around on the stool a little. 

The hunger burning in his eyes as they roamed over me had memories of that night stirring to the front of my mind and if I thought I was soaked before, that was in fact a lie. I could feel my thighs slipping off each other. The realization had me reaching for my bottle and taking a generous sip. I tried again to tear my eyes off him but I couldn’t do that either. Instead, I found them fixing on a not quite hidden hickie that I knew full well I’d left behind on the right side of his neck. I swallowed hard and took a deep breath because I remembered that I hadn’t been the only one who left a mark.

And at the sudden rearing of the thought, my fingers raised, gingerly dancing over the deep impression of his bite in my skin. I could feel my face getting hotter by the second. 

Matt seemed to finally catch onto the stare down happening between Adam and I and he grumbled, making a hasty retreat.

It took everything I possessed not to shove through the crowd and go to Adam. Especially with the statement he made in an interview before his match earlier tonight burned into my brain. Hurting me because I knew for a fact that the words weren’t true and it killed me that he might even halfway consider them to be so.

I finally managed to tear my eyes off of him, spotting Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela making their way into the bar. I waved to them both, grateful for the distraction they’d provide me. The barrier they’d make between me and my desire to go to Adam and bare my entire soul.

And probably be rejected. Or have to hear him say that the one night between us was a moment of weakness and it didn’t mean anything.

Or any number of things I’d heard a thousand times before.

At last: my review of the Snow like Ashes trilogy. aka I shit on some bad fantasy setup. Under readmore will have mild spoilers fyi

Spoiler-free summary: Meira, along with future king Mather, are part of a band of refugees who fled their kingdom of Winter following its downfall at the hands of Spring. While there were some creative elements, the worldbuilding was shitty and the characters lackluster. The magic was boring, confusing, and inherently trans-exclusive. The twists, while predictable, were pretty good toward the beginning of the trilogy and frustrating at the end. The love triangle was also predictable in a bad way. The added POVs made no sense, just like grammatically. There was a ridiculous amount of character death, but there were so many minor characters that I couldn’t bring myself to care. Yikes! Plus I hate the name Mather. 

Ok so I’ve got some thoughts!

On magic: The magic was boring as fuck. I like the idea of magic being used in subtle ways to help the kingdoms thrive, which was how I interpreted it when originally introduced. But it seemed like there were only two ways to do that- help some crops grow or fucking brainwash everyone??? And, of course, there was no consistency in magic. I don’t mind the rules of magic being changed /revealed with greater knowledge, but even these new rules weren’t well established. How did magic go from something that could only be used on your own land/people to Meira using it to make storms and vaguely as a weapon? No matter what it can do, magic with no rules or consistency is boring and confusing. I also liked the originality of the goal being to end magic, rather than save it. But it feels icky how much the narrative justifies keeping power only in the hands of monarchs.  My main issue is the bullshit “female-blooded” “male-blooded” essentialist nonsense. There wasn’t even a lazy attempt to rectify this (e.g. mentioning that people didn’t think a regent would be able to use her kingdom’s female-blooded conduit when she was born).

On minor characters: there are so many fucking minor characters. I didn’t feel a bond to any of them, so when they inevitably got killed or fucked up I just didn’t care. And the ones that had any significance were killed. Meira is obviously a little upset but doesn’t really express the appropriate emotional response, so how are the readers expected to? In that vein, Meira has so much fucking trauma but this is lazily rectified with a psychic (?) conversation with another random side character. Bitch needs therapy or at least a real spoken conversation. And this side character (Oana) suddenly becomes a parental figure? There’s no building of an emotional bond that justifies this.

On Point of Views: It would make sense to add a POV each book, especially since characters are in different places. It would not make sense to keep Meira’s point of view first person present tense and everyone else’s third person past tense. What is the grammatical justification for this? No clue why but this pissed me off. Also, we have all this foreshadowing about needing 3 people to open the magic chasm thing, so it would make sense that the 3 POVS would be the ones to do so…. As much as I appreciated circling back to William (I refuse to call him Sir what the fuck is that) (only to kill him of course), it doesn’t really make sense to hype up 3 characters, only to have a different third person for the climax.

On Ceridwen: Ok at first I was like okay, badass girl who attacks slave wagons, that’s cool. However, I was super disappointed with everything about her. First of all, she’s essentially the primary ruler of Summer, because her brother the king does jackshit. If she really was invested in ending the slave trade in her kingdom, she has the power to do so. It may not be as cool as stabbing people in the woods, but it’s a hell of a lot more effective. So that didn’t really sit well with me. I also assumed that she was a lesbian and her big secret would be more excited than having an affair with the king of a Rhythm. She’s 19 in the story, and I think the affair started 4 years ago, so she was 15 or so at the time; I’m presuming Jesse is older so I feel the situation is creepy. During most of her narration about Jesse, she’s thinking about her brother which is just weird as fuck. And then they just get married??? Ceridwen was exciting to me at first and then her character just fell completely flat.

On the Love Triangle: It was pretty obvious that Meira was going to end up with Mather at the end, and I feel like Theron didn’t need to be a love interest at all. It would’ve worked to have her make this first friend outside of the very few people she has known her whole life. The arranged marriage was A Thing but it definitely doesn’t warrant romance; if anything, it makes it less likely for a character like Meira. I was disappointed that their romance didn’t fizzle out by natural means, but rather Theron getting possessed or whatever happened to him. It makes her later relationship with Mather seem less authentic. I hate love triangles, so I’m pretty biased for this section. But I did like Theron (a love interest who likes art and poetry and reading!) and would’ve rooted for him and Meira to be endgame, if not for the clear direction the story was going. Also, it was creepy as hell that evil Theron caused Meira to have flashbacks of almost being raped. That shit was uncomfortable and not necessary.

On one more random thing: It might just be me, but I REALLY hate when books use the cliché “she was ___ /I was ____” when girls are having some powerful moment. Six of Crows is mildly guilty of this, but it only happens twice for Inej (“she was Inej Ghafa and she would not quiver like a rabbit in a snare” “she was Inej Ghafa and her future was waiting above”) which make sense for a character who has had her name denied to her, although Nina’s (“she was the queen of mourning…”) moments bother me a little more- it just feels cheesy, as any cliché does. The Snow Likes Ashes trilogy must say some variant of “I am the queen/conduit/soldier” thirty times. We get it. You’re trying to be quotable.

Overall, the original premise of the first book is interesting! A refugee being trained as a soldier in a hopeless attempt to regain her kingdom; a simple magic that serves only its own kingdom; trying to fight for a land and people you have never seen; the desperate effort to retain cultural knowledge for the future in the hope of one day rebuilding. The over-complicated plots, characters, and magic made for a disappointing, confusing, and very boring story that I only finished to write this mean review and see if the trans-exclusivity was addressed.

Lena and Lex aren't the same at all

Soooo I saw a post where people were comparing Lex talking about not measuring up to Superman and then Lena later talking about making humans super is apparently the same thing and "like brother like sister".

Erm..... I wondering if the person who made this post and those who backed it up actually watch the show at all, or just hate Lena so much they make stuff up.

Let's explore this claim:

LEX:

When Lex is talking to Lena about not measuring up, Superman had only just showed up and from what the show has told us was the only alien anyone knew about. So suddenly aliens are real and the most powerful being on Earth is one.

Ok so Superman to that point had only been flying around saving people's lives. So he would be hailed as a hero, a Savior whatever etc. Because he's doing good. No bad alien stuff at all.

Now we're only shown Lex (and later Lillian) having any issues at all with Superman or seeing him as a potential threat. Which to be fair isn't outside the realm of possibility. To not consider the almost indestructible alien with multiple powers a potential danger would be stupid.

So Lex takes it to far and has a vendetta against Superman, mostly from jealousy and then convincing himself Superman was a threat. Lex goes to prison yada yada, etc. Etc.

Now for LENA:

Lena wasn't at all of the same view as Lex in that deleted scene.

Now let's fast forward a few years and Lena is proposing that they make humans Super .

What has happened in the time between Superman just showing up and the present?

1. Supergirl has made an appearance, so now people know there are more aliens on Earth and not just Superman.

2. Fort Rozz escapees have caused havoc in National City. Lena may not have been here but she isn't living under a rock, she will know this.

3. Supergirl has gone off the rails and nearly killed people and destroyed their faith in her.

Now that is where things start to get interesting and where Lex did to a degree have a good point. So far people had only praised Superman and Supergirl because all they did was help people, but now one has gone off the rails proving that should a Super decide enough is enough the humans will hardly stand a chance.

4. A bunch or Kryptontians have tried to enslaved humanity for what they see as the 'greater good'. Again here just proves that there are more Kryptonians out there and they aren't all friendly.

5. The Daxamites invaded and tried to enslaved humanity by making a New Daxam on Earth. Fyi, all because of a KRYPTONIAN V DAXAMITE fued that the people of Earth had nothing to do with. Originally Rhea just wanted Mon El back and she was going to leave, but then she had an old race fued with Supergirl. And how were the humans able to fight them off? Oh that's right they couldn't!! They for rounded up into pens!

6. Lena was tricked by Rhea and kidnapped and nearly forced to become a breeding machine for the Daxamite Royal family!

7. The KRYPTONIAN World Killers made an appearance and Reign started to kill humans left right and centre who had no way to fight back.

8. The COL show up and make points about being invaded. They go about things in the completely wrong way obviously, but some were just scared and kept seeing aliens destroying and invading National City. Ben Lockwoods back story explains this. Remember during the Daxamite invasion his home was completely destoryed and he couldn't protect his family.

So let's remember that James was the one all up for listening to the COL and given them a bloody voice. But when Lena humours this and tries to understand it even though she has made her feelings on the COL very clear she suggests that maybe if humans could fight back against THE VERY REAL THREAT of Aliens she's shot down immediately. She even said NO to Col Haley originally until Haley turned the TV on and yet another attack was taking place!

But what's the difference between Lex not being happy and Lena suggesting powers?

The difference is, Lex was pissed off a man was more powerful than him, that there was a new Man of Tomorrow. Superman had only been around for 2 weeks and hadn't done anything wrong. Lex wasn't wrong to consider the danger Superman presented but he was wrong in how he dealt with that. There has been no alien invasions, no dangers from other aliens (maybe later but the show hasn't told us that). There werent anymore Kryptonians either.

Lena is living right in the middle of constant alien invasions. There are aliens everywhere! Kryptonians are no longer basically extinct, they are freaking everywhere and usually have nefarious intent. National City has been invaded so many times, Daxamites have nearly turned it into New Daxam. So much damage and lives lost. Superman has gone bad due to Rhea messing with his head, Supergirl has lost her s**t and scared NC s**tless!

There is a GIGANTIC difference to Lex being miffed ONE guy turned up and hasn't done anything, to Lena proposing humans should be able to stand up for themselves after ALL of the above!

Lex's and Lillian's fears ironically have been coming true.

The world is expected to rely on the DEO and the good graces of the Supers and the Super friends. But God forbid humans think about defending themselves against very real and constant threats to their lives.

Heck even aliens with no powers should be able to at least consider defending themselves to.

Lex's fear was hypothetical.

Lena's fears are very real and she's lived through many alien invasions and threats. She's seen Superman lose his s**t, she's seen (probably on TV) Supergirl losing her s**t. She's been kidnapped by aliens, she seen Kryptonian World Killers murder people and terrorize NC and nearly kill Supergirl. She will be full aware of Astra's invasion as well and the Fort Rozz prisoners.

So yeah.... VERY different circumstances. Can't blame her for thinking humans deserve a fighting chance.

Also note: it was the Aliens (Kara, Jonn) that weren't up for the idea, they can defend themselves and think humans should let them deal with it. Eliza, Alex and James are so in with the Aliens and the DEO and whatever that they no longer understand how an innocent civilian with no powers, alien guns or super fancy watches to call a Kryptonian to save your ass feels like.

This point is backed up by Alex changing her tune entirely when she no longer has her "Supergirl is my sister" goggles on and can think for herself.

Anyhoo, in conclusion Lex and Lena aren't the same here at all.

Also also, LENA was the one to stop Lex NOT the Supers. Lena has also saved the aliens of National City (including Supergirl) from death. She saved Supergirl with her power ranger suit, she saved her from the nano bots. It was her device (well Lex's but modified and with help from Winn) that got rid of the Daxamites. She made image inducors to keep aliens safe. She made her stance on the COL very clear! She helped save Sam. She helped defeat Reign. She's been the reason that Argo City is still alive twice over, once with her making more Harun El and second when she stopped Lex blowing it up.

Shall I go on? ✌️

What is Produce 101 Japan? + Fav members

Hello again! Today, I’m here with another long blog post NOT about Yuzuru Hanyu or anime but............ PRODUCE 101 JAPAN!! Because there are just not enough posts about it on Tumblr. AGH! WHY!? So here we go...

What is Produce 101 Japan?

Produce 101 Japan is a 2019 Japanese reality competition show and a spin-off of the South Korean television series Produce 101 . The show follows 101 trainees with the intention of producing an 11-member boy band. The members, group name, and concepts are selected by viewers, referred to as "national producers." The series was first announced in April 2019 as a co-production between Yoshimoto Kogyo and CJ E&M and premiered on September 25, 2019, with the first and final episodes airing on TBS while the full series will be streamed on GyaO! beginning September 26, 2019. - Totally not copied and pasted from wiki lol 

So yes, if you are familiar with the Korean Produce 101 franchise then you get the gist; if not, it is basically a Japanese idol show where the viewers get to vote and decide who will debut in the end as part of a 11-member boy band. Almost each week the ranking is released to the public online. This ranking resets every 3-4 weeks, so every trainee has the opportunity to redeem themselves as well as drop down in rank. Currently 9 out of 12 episodes have aired. The final episode is set to air on December 11, 2019. 

Who are MY top 11 members? 

So my favourite part of this blog has come! I will now show case my top/favourite 11 members of Produce 101 Japan. So obviously these are the members that I hope will make it into the final 11 to debut as a group. I will first list their age, prefecture, current rank (as of 27th Nov 2019), audition group (as some members entered this show as a group), position/persona (made up by me) and a short blurb about what I like about them. FYI this is not in any particular order......except for maybe no.1 hehe. 

1. Shiroiwa Ruki

Age: 22 Prefecture: Tokyo, Japan Current rank: 4th  Audition group: Hangyaku no Prince  Position/persona: A prince on the outside, a dork on the inside

Ruki is by far my favourite trainee and my 1-pick. He is a total visual, an all rounder and the dark horse of this show. His rank has been steadily improving and just last week he jumped from 13th place to 4th place! So far he has been the centre for all of the group battle performances. He is known for his “Prince” persona, and yes on stage he is indeed like a prince from a Shojo-manga; however, as some other trainees have confessed he is actually quite dorky and down to earth. I mean, in his 60-second PR video he sang while nonchalantly playing a guitar that was clearly out of tune (face palm). Furthermore, he talks to his dorm mates on and on until 4am only because he gets lonely and doesn’t want to be the last one to fall asleep. This young fella just yearns for some company haha. With all jokes aside though, I think he honestly has the potential to challenge the current top three members and be chosen as the final centre. 

2. Komatsu Koshin

Age: 18 Prefecture: Hyogo, Japan Current rank: 28th Audition group: Puchi-men  Position/persona: Small boy with a big heart 

Komatsu-kun is a 18 year old high schooler that has captured the hearts of many with his cute face and personality. Ruki may be my 1-pick, but Komatsu-kun was the first trainee I had my eyes on. He is very underrated IMHO as he just does not get enough screen time. But you can tell from the few scenes that he is featured in that he is so polite, cares a lot about his fellow peers and can always lift up the the entire mood within the team. He also has a stable vocal and solid dance skills. He may be small (165cm), but he has a heart of a giant. 

3. Uehara Jun 

Age: 23 Prefecture: Tokyo, Japan Current rank: 5th Audition group: n/a Position/persona: King of Rap 

Where do I even begin with Uehara Jun!? He was actually in Produce X (4th season of the Produce franchise in Korea) but as he could not make the final cut there, he has now committed to this second opportunity in Japan to make his debut as an idol. Jun has many amazing qualities, one of the obvious ones being his skills as a rapper. Honestly, he is in a league of his own when it comes to rap. I’m no rap pro, but when he raps it just sounds so GOOD! When he first started off I think a lot of viewers were hesitant to vote for him as he had the tendency to succumb to pressure and self-guilt, but as the weeks went by he really redeemed himself and gained a lot more confidence. I mean...the fact that he moved from one season to another without second thought just shows he really wants this, and I genuinely hope he will make it into the final 11. He deserves it and the group will suffer without a top-quality rapper like him. 

4. Kono Junki

Age: 21 Prefecture: Nara, Japan Current rank: 11th  Audition group: Six Packs Position/persona: Kpop ready vocals and visual 

Junki is a very handsome trainee with a beautiful voice. Despite having little to no experience with singing or dancing prior to this show, he has really demonstrated the ability to adapt and deliver. Also his face and voice is so Kpop worthy it’s crazy. If I saw him walking down the street with no prior knowledge of who he is and someone told me he is a Kpop idol I will be convinced. He has also been voted by the other trainees as one of the top visuals. Oh and did I mention he has amazing muscles? I mean he did audition as part of a group called “Six Packs” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). 

5. Yonashiro Sho 

Age: 24 Prefecture: Okinawa, Japan   Current rank: 8th Audition group: Six Packs Position/persona: 50 Shades of Yonashiro 

Ah yes... Yonashiro, the Christian Grey of Produce 101 Japan. I say this because many viewers find his face, body and most of all his VOICE to be very sensual. He is a member of Six Packs, the same group as Kono Junki, so of course he has muscles and is also an amazing vocalist. His deep liquid gold voice has just added so much spice to every group performance that he has been a part of, and is now regarded as one of the  best vocalists of all the trainees. You may think that he is this know-it-all arrogant narcissist because of his looks, but he is actually very kind, considerate of others and has genuine passion for singing. 

6. Kim Heecheon 

Age: 25 Prefecture: South Korean  Current rank: 14th  Audition group: Hello Again  Position/persona: Ready to lead a country 

Heecheon was a former member of the Kpop group Halo. As they disbanded, he decided to join this show alongside two other former members of Halo (Younghoon & Youndong). Due to their experience Halo is really on a league of their own in many ways. Their dance, vocals, performance and professionalism as an idol are just top notch and SO stable. Heecheon particularly has a voice of an angel. He can really hit those high notes and it sounds so tranquil. One of the vocal trainers even praised him for it in one of the first episodes. He has also demonstrated great leadership skills. He has the ability to gain everyone’s trust and respect, while not being afraid to give constructive criticism and call out on those who are not being professional within the team. He is so level-headed, but that is not to say he isn’t fun. He is actually so funny and I am just impressed how well he understands Japanese sense of humour despite being Korean. Heecheon for president anyone?? 

7. Jeong Younghoon

Age: 26 Prefecture: South Korea Current rank: 6th  Audition group: Hello Again  Position/persona: Embodiment of Kindness 

Look up “kindness” in your dictionary and you are sure to find his name. Younghoon, the eldest member of the Halo trio, is such a kind-hearted individual. One of the younger trainees even said that he wants Younghoon in his group during one of the group battles because he is kind (uwu). He has actually been judged quite harshly by the trainers despite being a former Kpop idol, and was even placed in group C (3rd lowest group) at one point. Even with these challenges he never showed the slightest bit of annoyance towards the trainers and accepted to improve on the flaws the he was criticised for. Like Heecheon, he has also gained a lot of trust and admiration from the other trainees.

8. Kim Youndong

Age: 24 Prefecture: South Korea Current rank: 10  Audition group: Hello Again  Position/persona: Little Mr Sunshine 

Youndong, also a former member of Halo, is such a sunshine of the show. He is absolutely a pleasure to watch both on and off stage and is always smiling. He is probably the least fluent in Japanese out of the Halo trio, but that in itself is what makes him so charming. His personality is so likeable I think it is impossible for anyone to hate him. Not to mention his stunning presence while performing. 

9. Kawanishi Takumi 

Age: 20 Prefecture: Hyogo, Japan Current rank: 12th  Audition group: KSIX Position/persona: Princess

I think Takumi is a must needed member for the final 11. He really is a talented individual. He apparently has no experience with dancing or singing but for some reason he manages to always pull off complicated choreos and is also working steadily on his vocals right now. He may be ranked 12th at the moment, but he was previously ranked no.1, so I’m sure his one-pickers will place him back up high in the ranking again soon enough. He is also labelled as the “Princess” of Produce 101 Japan due to his picture perfect looks. Unsurprisingly he was also voted as the no.1 visual by the trainees. I mean just look at him, those eyes just so striking and and full of hope! 

10. Kawashiri Ren 

Age: 22 Prefecture: Fukuoka, Japan Current rank: 2nd Audition group: UN Backers  Position/persona: Mr Perfect 

Now Ren is a special one. He is a very experienced dancer and is one of, if not the best dancer of all the trainees. He has worked as a back dancer for many Kpop and Jpop groups such as FT Island, WannaOne, Pentagon and SMAP. Of course he is not the only experienced dancer in the show, but every move of his is so effortless and clean. He was voted as the very first centre of Produce 101 Japan, and maintained this position throughout the first half of the season. His rank has now dropped down to 2nd, but he still maintains an incredible amount of following. He has so much aura and has garnered a lot of respect from the other trainees. I think it’s safe to say that he will make it into the final 11 and will undoubtedly be one of the top contenders for the final centre position. 

11. Tsurubo Shion 

Age: 18 Prefecture: Shiga, Japan Current rank: 3rd  Audition group: n/a  Position/persona: Bad boy gone sweet

I think Shion is a type that really pulls the ladies’ heart strings. Similar to Uehara Jun, Shion also sees Produce 101 as his second chance to accomplish his dream as an idol, as he has had a history of failing an audition....an audition which he even dropped out of high school for. There was some negativity around his reputation at the start as the trainers addressed his “rude” attitude in the first episode (By rude, he talked over some of the trainers and hosts, and was not using proper formal language). This was only for the first episode and was most likely due to nerves of being on screen as as the weeks went by we saw him break out of his shell and show a very sweet side of him. I mean just look at his pure smile in the GIF below! 

Honourable mentions

Now I am going to cheat a bit and show case three other trainees that could not make it into MY top 11 but deserves a mention. 

Ando Tomoaki 

Age: 22 Prefecture: Fukuoka, Japan Current rank: 7th Audition group: Six Packs Position/persona: Michelangelo’s Ando

The third member of Six Packs. I say he’s “Michelangelo’s” Ando because he has such deep set eyes and western facial features. One trainee said that he’s like one of the statues you’d find in the Louvre lol. Ando may very well be the most talented vocalist in Six Packs. It would be very sad to not see all of the three Six Packs members make it into the final 11, so thats why I have placed him here. 

Honda Kosuke 

Age: 24  Prefecture: Fukushima, Japan Current rank: 15th Audition group: Hangyaku no Prince  Position/persona: Big bro Honda 

Honda is so big bro-material. Even Kawajiri Ren, one of the most respected trainees comes to him for moral support. I actually would be really happy if he makes it into the final 11 with Ruki because they are from the same group and have such a strong bond (cries). So much drama happened around him during one of the group battles, and he is such a great dancer and choreographer. 

Urano Shuta

Age: 22 Prefecture: Kanagawa, Japan Current rank: 34th Audition group: Hangyaku no Prince  Position/persona: Mood maker 

Urano Shuta, also a member of Hangyaku no Prince, is someone that very recently caught my attention. He has a great voice and great sense of humour. Honestly, every scene he is featured in just cracks me up because he is always pulling off jokes. Let’s give him a bonus GIF for his loveable humour. 

In Summary 

Produce 101 Japan is such an entertaining, dramatic and inspiring show. I am usually not into idols at all (Kpop or Jpop), so I am honestly surprised just how invested I have become. I’ve only showcased 14 trainees today, but no joke each one of them has something to offer and you just have to watch it to understand the greatness of this show. Unfortunately you are only able to vote if you live in Japan (as it requires to have a Japanese cell phone number). Since I don’t live in Japan I thought this blog post is the least I could do to help promote the trainees. If you are able to please check this show out! You can use a VPN to watch all the episodes on Gyao. Otherwise, they have an official youtube channel and many fans have uploaded videos of Produce 101 Japan as well online.

Random Tangent About Ships & Cheating SLs

So, I was talking with my friend Lauren (@backtothestart02) yesterday about how when it comes to watching our shows and seeing certain ships of ours having cheating sls & how that affects how we feel towards them. This convo kinda came about cuz of the recent development we’ve heard about on Riverdale where Betty & Archie are gonna be cheating on their respective significant others with each other in the next episode... Which, okay, at this point I don’t even watch the show anymore since it sounds like it’s pretty much on crack these days (at least more than usual lol) so this isn’t your typical rant about “OMG HOW DARE YOU MESS WITH MY OTP LIKE THAT” in regards to that sl (re: yes, Bughead was my ship when I watched it but my investment in the show has been pretty much non-existent for way over a year now so that’s not my goal with this rant fyi lol) It’s just more the frustration of the excitement I’ve seen from people being all “YAY CHEATING” Cuz, yeah ok, it’s a silly TV show. Obviously. I get that lmao It’s just the reactions I’ve been seeing that are funny cuz there’s people who talk about toxic relationships and normally how cheating is a dealbreaker but in this one specific case we’re all suddenly cool with it... Okay lmao but yeah, if the ship has to happen because a character died or cheating is involved... doesn’t that already cheapen that new relationship too (and their character development along with it? lol)

Anyway, I actually just really wanted to use this as a chance to rant about my ships that made me deal with cheating sls and why those are basically the worse “obstacles” a show can throw at ships. At least that is, if you want people to root for them long term. lol Cheating obviously happens in real life, but then that’s usually the end of a relationship. Which is why I don’t think it’s surprising that when it comes to fiction, I find the element of cheating to be something that kinda taints my otps for me if it occurs in the story. 

I can think of a couple of cases where I was able to accept it cuz the show mostly did right by them after the situation by showing the growth and how that would never been an issue again. But the cases where the cheating happens and it just feels like this thing that makes it so you can’t enjoy any of the things that came before it with that couple? That sucks. It feels cheap and like, really bad writing.

I think my thoughts on this subject stems all the way back to my very first TV ship: Jackie & Hyde from That 70′s Show. Anyone who really watched that show remembers that 2 episode arc of where Hyde thought Jackie cheated on him with Kelso (she hadn’t ofc but he did see her comforting him in a way that would be suspicious considering Kelso had wanted her back) so he cheated on her with a random nurse as payback. I remember watching the next episode heartbroken at the scene where Hyde has to tell her what he did after he realizes that he pulled that move for no reason at all and Jackie ultimately breaks up with him on the spot. Which I applauded her for. Because the girl had gotten cheated on by Kelso so much that she vowed that she wouldn’t let that happen to her again. Her relationship with Steven was supposed to be different, and up until that point, had been. It was a step back for all the development they had spent with them all season, but with how raw Hyde was during that scene and the scene where he tells Jackie that he loves her (evidenced by the fact that he actually isn’t wearing his usual sunglasses in either of those scenes), it can be said that it was clearly just a momentary regression. Do I think they could have handled it better towards getting them back together? Yeah. But then it was a sitcom so you gotta keep that in mind too. lol Otherwise, they mostly did right by them once they were back together until things got shaky again. But then this rant isn’t about how they deserved the endgame they were supposed to get and were robbed of. LOL But yeah, this is one of the rare cases they weren’t completely tainted for me.

(For those of you that have never seen this ep....)

Another case of a ship where cheating happened, but in this case did have my ship pretty much tainted for me at the time was Joan & Adam on Joan of Arcadia. This is more a lowkey scenario cuz nobody who sees this will know them basically but I loved them dearly and I watched that show (pun not intended at all lol) religiously when it was on so when that sl came very much out of nowhere I was (I’d say) rightfully upset about it. There was no reason to have Adam cheat on Joan. It was just plain character assassination of a fan favorite, and for what? Drama??? I still have no idea. All I know it was a far cry from the boy who charmed his way into Joan’s heart in S1 who wasn’t even thinking about sex when they got together (Heck, *she* was the one who thought they were supposed to have sex in S1 at one point and again, that wasn’t even on his radar at the time lol). Enter later S2, he makes her feel pressured about them doing it a bit and then later he cheats on her with this random girl that we saw a couple times talking to him because of this... Um?? That’s just bad writing cuz it’s OOC. lol What’s worse is that Joan found out about this in the 19th episode of the season so when the show got cancelled, there had been barely any development after that. There was some since there was like 3 episodes or so after that, which meant there was just enough time to get them to a sorta neutral place with each other since they had the same friend group but otherwise, not much closure for shippers. Which was frustrating. You can’t just take that sharp of a turn in the story that late in a season with an unguaranteed next season with your main couple, especially if the cheating is coming out of left field. You just can’t, not if you want me to root for them at least. So.... yeah. That was bad. lol Definitely an example of why sometimes cheating does not need to be a storyline on a show.

I was trying to think if there were any ships before this one that i would want to mention, and there might have been, but I can’t think of them at the moment. Which means next on the list is Zoe & Wade on Hart of Dixie. They’re still a big otp for me, which does show I was able to move past their cheating sl but again, they did get tainted a bit too. In some ways, their sl gave me some deja vu with Jackie & Hyde. At least in the way that the guy chooses to sleep with someone in a very rash way, and you just know this is gonna lead to an automatic breakup the second the girl finds out. There was no denying Zoe was gonna break up with him. It was heartbreaking to watch her come to the realization that he had cheated on her. And it was frustrating because it felt like they only got to be a proper couple for like maybe 4 episodes and then they pulled that move. It was like, you’ve been setting me up to root for this couple and... now what? They had undeniable chemistry so I guess the writers always counted on that for when they would ultimately bring them back together and they were right. I was able to root for them again, and it helped there had been some time that had passed (a whole season of them not being together!) and I was missing them a lot. But that said, it still felt like a misstep. Because when you wanna write a breakup, we should just throw in a cheating sl then? There were plenty of other ways to break up Zade, but they went in that direction. It just felt very lame, lazy and pure character regression in a way that didn’t make sense with the story they were telling imo. They were able to show that Wade had matured later on so it worked out, but this is one that made me upset so thank goodness they made up for it. lol

(I dare you not to tear up lol)

Okay, the last ships I’m gonna mention briefly are both on The Bold Type. 

Everyone in that fandom has expressed their frustration with how they handled the Kadena sl where Kat cheated and then they tried to have a open relationship to let her explore a bit or whatever in S2. I actually get where it wasn’t that bad cuz Adena told her she could see the other girls. Enter the next season, Kadena have sex when Kat is still in a relationship technically (I don’t care if she got the approval to see if there were still feelings there or not from Tia, that didn’t mean sleep with the ex. That meant talk) This is one of those cases where for me, cheating is never the ideal way to bring a ship back into the story. I know it happens but this didn’t make Kat or Adena look that great as characters for me. I know shit happens, just saying from a preference. Not gonna get deep into the awkwardness of S4 between these two, beyond saying that after S1, it does seem like the writers don’t fully know how to write them now still. They were a fan favorite ship for the show, and I think despite the bad writing for them sometimes in these later seasons, still are, but they really gotta start being more consistent with them if they want them to be rootworthy again. And please write Adena in character my goodness. The way they wrote her in 4x07 was just not it.

 Which brings me to Janestripe,

They seriously dedicated a whole first half of a season dragging out the reveal that Ryan did more than kiss the lady he cheated on Jane with. I know beforehand the majority of the fandom hated Ryan already and thought Jane should have been with Ben instead, which honestly... ok, whatever. I still say Jane was having doubts about Ben so she was already starting to check out of that relationship a bit before Ryan declared his feelings for her at the end of S2. That said, once again, cheating isn’t ideal so I liked that Jane turned him down until she broke things off with Ben. I think people forget that the person in the middle of a triangle is making a choice and just cuz it’s not the choice you the viewer wanted doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be the wrong one. Frankly, Ben was kinda dry for me. Idk. Anyway, I appreciated that they were trying to tell a story of growth for Ryan... Until they weren’t. lol They really could have kept it as a kiss but they started planting those little signs that it wasn’t between Ryan looking guilty during convos and then him telling the story again about what happened & it sounding like bullshit. We all knew but they made us wait 9 eps for Jane to figure out. Which was frustrating. I get what message they were trying to send in the end and I respected that but they couldn’t do it faster?? They were sending a lot of signs they were making them endgame by showing how serious they were getting but now? I don’t see them ever interacting again, unless they did find a reason to bring Ryan back but Idk. I just don’t get painting them in that kinda light if you were just planning to tear them down before the season was even over, you know? They could have just ended them in S3 and I would have got it. But they dragged it out into a whole another season and why??? lol

I’m trying to figure out what more I wanna say about this topic. lol Beyond just thinking that I can’t stand cheating sls. I can barely stand any kinda love triangle sls as it is. Why must these tropes exist?? All they do is cause drama in fandoms. Which is prob why I don’t do them in the first place. lol

One week... That’s how long John had been going out of the hotel and coming back either bruised or with broken body parts. He still hasn’t told you the reasons behind his ‘personal’ business. Whenever he gets serious injuries, a doctor would come in the room and patch him up. You knew basic bandaging and first aid, but stitching a wound was not in your skill set. Afterwards, you would notice that John would hand something to the doctor and the latter would gently pat John’s uninjured shoulder and leave. You didn’t attempt to infer him of any of his business. You would just recheck his condition to which he was really grateful for and just offer him anything that he would request (which he never did).

Two days later, he informed you that he would be going out... again. You couldn’t take it anymore. You mustered the confidence to ask his whereabouts.

“Where are you going this time?”

He didn’t answer as he put his coat suit on. You demanded further, “You promised that you’ll tell me everything. But almost a week has passed and all I got are your job and my safety. What are you exactly doing, John? What are you planning? You just leave me here all alone and then when you come back here, you look like crap. I just...” You exhaled tiredly. “I just want to know what you’re up to. What if I get news that you’re already dead? I’m just worried.”

He affixed his coat as he peered at you. He opened his mouth and finally imparted, “Those men who intruded the house and killed Daisy? One of them is the son of the Russian mob leader whom I helped before I met Helen. He was the one who initiated stealing the car and killing Daisy.”

Your eyes widened, knowing immediately what he was preparing on doing. “You’re going to take his life...”

He didn’t take his eyes away from you as if he was searching something in you. His expression was stoic, but you can decipher his thoughts. Only one thing came to mind: revenge.

He was doing this out of retribution because he felt like everything and everyone he loved was being taken away from him. Well, he probably still has you, yet Helen will always be his first.

For your own morality, you acknowledged (and everyone does, too) that terminating one’s life is completely wrong. If you’re religious, that’s a major sin and you’ll go to Hell for it. In the eyes of the law, that’s equivalent to years of imprisonment.

Still, you can’t help having thoughts that the murderer of your dog deserves an actual retribution coming to him. He shouldn’t have killed Daisy. He shouldn’t have messed with John Wick AT ALL.

‘Yes, he deserves what’s coming to him. Putting Daisy to death was like losing Helen all over again,’ you thought. It was bad to think this way, but you have the right to have your peace of mind. Letting the dog killer roam free was unacceptable.

You nasally breathed in and out of air with closed eyes then opened them. “Just come back here with no injuries this time. I hate seeing so much blood on your clothes,” you sounded sarcastic and serious at the same time.

John ghosted a smirk, which you missed. “I’ll try to be careful.”

With that, he moved to the closet and took at least two guns and some ammos. He hid them well in his suit and belt.

He took a glimpse at you again and just inclined his head down then up as a form of saying that he was to leave and be back after he conducted his business. As he opened the door, you spoke,

“John, wait!” You jogged closer to him and gave him a long peck on his cheek. “Be careful, I mean it.”

He caressed yours. “I won’t take long.”

He finally left... again.

You were folding your clothes as well as John’s. You checked the old-fashioned clock on the wall and it was already time for dinner. You went to the telephone just between your beds and called the reception. You lifted the phone to your ear and there was no long sound to be heard from it. You tried to dial the numbers and it was still quiet. You attempted to fix the line, but when you put it on your ear again, there was still nothing.

You heavily sighed. You have no choice. You’ll have to get out of the room and go to the reception yourself. You grabbed your purse (just in case since everything you need were in it) and exited the room.

You reached the reception desk and the same bald and dark-skinned man was there. You smiled at him and he gave a small one to you.

“Miss, with all due respect, Mr Wick informed me that you shouldn’t leave your room,” he pointed out straightforwardly and nonchalantly.

You blinked your eyes. “Did he?”

“Please go back to your room,” he instructed you with regard.

You suppressed the urge to make a face so you just puckered your lips in disappointment. “Fine. Either way, I didn’t come here to really get out of the room. I just want to tell you that our telephone isn’t working and to order food.”

The concierge tilted his head down. “I’ll let someone fix your room telephone right now.” He tapped onto something then looked at you again. “You may go back to your room and make your order from there.”

You squinted. “Can’t I just order here first then go back to the room?”

“I am asked not to let you out of the room. I am only doing a favor.”

You raised your hands in defense. “Alright, alright. I understand.”

When you turned to leave, your feet didn’t move upon seeing another familiar figure. A dark browned slicked hair and emerald-colored eyes that previously winked at you was focused on you, but never intimidating; more of an intrigued look. Your memory of his smirk was still intact in your brain. He was that same man whom you offered your beam simply because you were anxious and kind-hearted.

He approached you with his hands in the pockets of his dark blue tight-styled slack pants. “John Wick’s assistant,” he addressed you in that manner since he actually didn’t know your name. His voice was deep and silvery. He had a British accent in him.

“Um, h-hi,” you stuttered.

He laughed quietly and amusingly. “Funny, I’ve been here for almost a week and I’ve only seen you for the second time.”

“Second time?” you prompted, acting a little stupid. Of course you knew what he was referring to.

He chuckled again. “Oh, come on. Don’t tell me you smiling at me when you first checked in here was not our first time meeting. Though, it was true that we didn’t talked at that time. But again, gazing at each other was like the first time.”

You feigned a grin. “Oh, that! My memory of small details can be quite bad.”

He raised a brow mirthfully. “I didn’t think that was a small detail for you. Well, I guess I can understand since you’re a cleaner. And John Wick’s personal one at that.”

“Right...” you drawled. You didn’t even comprehend what he meant by that.

“You know,” he pressed on. It appeared like he wasn’t just going to let you go anytime soon. “We should grab a drink at the bar and, you know, try to get to know one another.”

You tried to find an excuse. “Maybe... another time. Jo- Mr Wick wants me to do some things for him.”

He was insistent. “Come now, you have to lighten up a little. I’m pretty sure you can get tired of him.”

Truth to be told, you were getting tired of him; tired of being left alone all the time. Of course, you wouldn’t tell this guy about that.

You were about to hurl back at his invitation when he spoke first. “I actually find it peculiar that he’s even back. Last I heard, he retired.”

You gulped unnoticed. You knew about that part, too.

“In any case, so? Would you like a drink? It’s going to be on me.”

You wanted an out of this situation. You felt like no matter how many rejections you give he wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

“I-I-“

“Mr Fortuna.”

Both of you diverted your attentions to the concierge who was now standing regally a few inches away from you. He continued, “There are some matters that need to be discussed privately with you.”

The other man groaned. “Can that wait?”

“No, sir, it cannot. Can you please follow me?”

Mr Fortuna sighed quite irately. He then eyed you sadly. “Sorry, love, but business calls, as much as I hate this.”

You mentally puffed out a relief and feigned disappointment. “No, no, it’s fine. We’re all busy.”

“Jacob Fortuna,” he finally introduced himself and offered his hand for a shake.

“(Y/n).” You clasped your petite one in his. You kept your last name a secret for now.

“Lovely name.” He gave a chaste kiss at the back of your hand and strode to the concierge.

When you locked eyes on the concierge, he just inclined his head down. You were aware of the meaning and stared at him briefly before going back to your room.

Shoot. Shoot here, shoot there, shoot left then right and vice versa.

Crack and crash.

He finally located Iosef Tarasov. That bastard had been a stroke of bad luck to him. He shouldn’t even have touched the car especially the dog.

That spoiled Tarasov brat shouldn’t even have messed with John Wick. Helen was the love of his life who died of cancer and that puppy (and even the car) was the only memory he had of her. It was a fortunate thing that you were kept safe. He had to do everything in his power to keep you out of harm’s way as you were the only one left to keep his sanity. He’ll even go through lengths of killing if your security would be threatened. And as long as that Iosef lives, you will never find peace and there will be no justice for Daisy’s death.

More shooting. And now, splintering bones happened. Iosef was still running for his life, obviously terrified to face the most professional assassin. Too many bodyguards coming right at said assassin, but not one bit that he faltered except when he got shot twice, one in his right shoulder and the other in his left abdomen. Yet again, his adrenaline of wanting to reach Iosef and permanently finish him off was high enough that he didn’t even feel the pain coursing through him.

The chase was cut, though, as Tarasov’s head of security showed up and was a tough cookie to handle. He finally felt the pain in his shoulder and abdomen injuries, blood already staining his dress shirt.

It didn’t matter, anyway, as he warned Iosef upon calling Victor’s, who was already dead, phone to which he grabbed,

“Everything has a price.”

Something you fear: Most sea creatures but especially cephalopods; last week I clicked a piece of clickbait about a woman who put an octopus on her face for a selfie and then the octopus bit her obv and like honestly though the idea of an octopus touching my face is....so terrible. (Obviously I would never pick one up and put it on my face on purpose but what if one jumped on me! I would never recover.)

Your dream job: It’s pretty much teen services librarian, which is what I do! I guess the real dream might be eccentric cat lady heiress but this’ll do.

An odd talent you possess: IDK, I worked at a Girl Scout camp for 4 summers so I have a decent number of outdoorsy skills.

The last show you binged: I think it was Good Omens, but I’ll probably binge season 3 of GLOW soon.

One pet peeve: I work at a public library where I sit at a public desk, and I hate it when people whistle or call over for me to come help them. Please sir just walk over to my desk and talk to me?? (Peeve is mitigated for elderly people and/or people with mobility issues but you know it’s mostly middle-aged white men who do this to me.)

Favorite flavor of 🍨: My go-to is Ben & Jerry’s Half-Baked but right now I’ve got some limited edition S’Mores flavor that I’m pretty into.

Song that always gets stuck in your head: I just read a book with a character named Alejandro (Ale-ale-alejandro) so I’ve had “Alejandro” by Lady Gaga in my head for about a week. 

The most attractive thing about a person: IDK, chill vibes?

Worst movie you’ve ever seen: This is very difficult for me to answer because I intentionally seek out bad movies for viewing. Like in terms of technical (lack of) filmmaking skill, it’s probably Troll 2? In terms of movie I’ve enjoyed least...I dunno, the other day I tried to watch Can You Ever Forgive Me? because I heard it was good and I love Melissa McCarthy, but I immediately got a bad vibe about the cat so I checked DoesTheDogDie.com (FYI despite the name it covers other animal deaths and all kinds of other things a person might not want to watch) and turned it off. I’m sure it’s a good movie but not for meeee. 

Oh, you know what, the worst movie I’ve ever seen, in terms of movies I watched start to finish and did not enjoy was probably The Searchers. A few years ago they were showing it at the art house theater in my hometown, and I’d never seen a John Wayne movie before, but I knew Vince Gilligan had cited it as a big inspiration for Breaking Bad, and I figured John Wayne movies are kind of a dad activity, so I took my dad to see it, and like, fuckin yikes that movie is racist and sexist, and I couldn’t just turn it off. (I don’t know what I expected?! But it was like, way worse than I expected. Just unenjoyable on a literal level as well as a camp level. Nice scenery I guess??)

Also the only professional theatrical production that I’ve left at intermission was A Bronx Tale: The Musical, which is a) bad and b) based on a movie I’ve never seen. The movie’s probably worse because of lack of songs!
