Top 12 Tom Hiddleston Performances/Characters
Happy Birthday to Tom Hiddleston! This fine actor is a favorite of mine among those currently working in big-time theatre circles, and of course in Hollywood. He seems to rapidly be turning out to be an idol for a whole new generation, and it's not hard to understand why: onscreen, he is a talented performer, able to bring authority, wit, and vulnerability in equal doses to just about every role he plays. And offscreen, by all accounts, he's a fun and just plain funny fellow who cares a lot about his castmates and his fans alike.
So, with all this in mind, I thought it would be nice to do a quick countdown of my favorite performances from this fine fellow. This will be a description-less list: just names, credits, and photos. Keeping that in mind, let's waste no more time. Here are My Top 12 Tom Hiddleston Performances!
12. Hank Williams, from I Saw the Light.
11. Captain Nicholls, from War Horse.
10. Cassio, from Othello.
9. Freddie Page, from The Deep Blue Sea.
8. F. Scott Fitzgerald, from Midnight in Paris.
7. Captain James Conrad, from Kong: Skull Island.
6. Sir Thomas Sharpe, from Crimson Peak.
5. Coriolanus.
4. Henry V (a.k.a. Prince Hal), from The Hollow Crown.
3. Jonathan Harker, from Dracula (BBC Radio, 2006).
2. James (a.k.a. Captain Hook), from The Pirate Fairy.
Loki, from the MCU. (Was there ever any doubt?)

Tom was in that ensemble movie Midnight in Paris, so he has done that kind of smaller role before. So why not now? Is he just not offered them? I actually wondered why he hasn't worked with Branagh again when I was watching Oppenheimer the other day and Branagh popped up in a small role. And why Tom himself couldn't be in a small role in a movie like Oppenheimer, he could have easily played Branagh's role. I wondered if Tom thought the same thing as he was in the theatre watching it with Zawe.
Tom's in a weird place of being one of the longest running and most popular stars in the biggest movie franchise the world. The official Loki s2 trailer had over 80 million views the other day. People LOVE Loki. Why do people not react to him in the same way in other roles (except TNM).
None of his other projects, with the exception of TNM, have hit that sweet spot of making a lot of money and/or being critically lauded. Kong SI wasn't the blockbuster it was expected to be, and I wonder how much that hurt his fortunes in the industry. ISTL was a flop. He was super hot in High Rise, but again a flop. Crimson Peak is one of del Toro's less commercially successful projects. With the exception of TNM, he seems to be attracted to unusual projects, but not commercially successful unusual projects. And it's weird, given how damn famous he is with Loki.
Also, given what a huge Marvel star he is as well as guaranteed box office for them, why the fuck isn't Loki in the marvel opening credits???
He used to be, I didn’t notice they took him out?

Kiss in the Kitchen | Loki x Female Reader
Loki (Marvel) x Doctor Who
Three days have passed since Loki started avoiding you and you are presented with an opportunity to talk to him however it quickly escalates into an argument.
Part Four | Part Six | Chapter Index
Words: 2.8k
Warnings: angst and fluff
Read on AO3
You were sat alone at the kitchen table, on the TARDIS, digging into a bowl of noodles. A few days ago you had found some packs of them in one of the cupboards and at first you didn’t know what they were, but you could tell that they definitely weren’t from earth. After checking with the Doctor he assured you that they were safe for human consumption, as was everything else he kept stocked in the TARDIS kitchen.
Donna and the Doctor were currently visiting a leisure palace on a planet called Midnight, but you had foregone the trip in the hopes that Loki would come out of hiding so that you could finally talk to him.
Three days had passed since your trip to The Dark Ages, and you hadn’t seen Loki at all since. He had harboured himself away in the TARDIS and due to its infinite size, you were beginning to worry over the possibility that he might have actually gotten lost, but that concern quickly vanished when you heard footsteps approaching the kitchen.
Your heart rate spiked and you sat up straight. You suddenly started feeling nervous, this was going to be the first time you saw Loki in days, you were finally presented with an opportunity to talk to him, you didn’t want to mess it up.
You rushed to wipe the back of your hand over your mouth and chin, incase there was anything left on your face from the noodles and you straightened out your hair and clothes, hoping that you at least looked some what presentable.
As soon as Loki turned into the kitchen, he immediately halted when he saw you. You noticed that today he was dressed similarly to how he had during your first night on the TARDIS, abandoning his pristine fitted suits for a more casual look, consisting of dark jeans and a hoodie. You offered him a kind smile with the hope that it would encourage him to stay, but instead he swiftly turned on his heel already beginning to storm off somewhere else.
“Damn it, Loki! You can’t avoid me forever.” You lost your patience and your chair had screeched against the floor as you abruptly stood up.
Loki had paused at your outburst, his back still turned to you. Slowly he looked at you from over his shoulder with his head tilted slightly to the side, it was a subtle thing which made him look all the more intimidating.
“Can’t I?” Loki challenged as he turned to completely face you. “You really think your mortal existence is that unavoidable?”
His voice was harsh and distant, directed towards you it felt like being shoved into a pool of ice cold water, your whole body stiffened as you literally felt your blood rushing quicker through your veins from the rapid rate of your heartbeat while unpleasant shivers ran down your spine, but you didn’t let it show. You hardened your exterior, squaring your shoulders and narrowing your eyes.
“If you really want to avoid me, why don’t you just leave? Because the way I recall it, you wouldn’t even be here to avoid me if I hadn’t convinced the Doctor to let you stay!” You began to raise your voice, you weren’t shouting but your tone was teetering on a very fine edge, as you clenched your fists by your side.
By now your chest was visibly rising and falling with all the pent up nerves and frustration that were surging heat through your blood stream.
Loki was momentarily caught of guard by your outburst, but he was a master at disguising his emotions, so all you saw was his eyes darken as he took a menacing step towards you.
“I can’t believe I was gullible enough to believe that you might have actually been different, that I might have found someone who genuinely cared about me, but you don’t even try to hide the fact that you’re ashamed of me. And I’m expected to tolerate it because I should just be grateful for the fact that you found it in your heart to save someone like me in the first place. Well I never asked you or anyone to save me!” Loki finally raised his voice and you flinched. “I never asked Odin to take me from Jotunheim. I never asked Thanos to give me an army and a kingdom to rule and I never asked you to convince the Doctor to let me stay!” Loki’s voice rivalled yours and the callous tone felt like a knife straight through your chest.
You had backed yourself away behind the kitchen table, putting it between you and Loki as he had closed the distance between you, as if it would serve you any form of protection.
“Ashamed...” You barely managed to repeat the word in a whisper. “When have I ever given you the impression that I am ashamed of you?”
“Evidently you don’t hide it as well as you think you do. You couldn’t even bare to be seen holding my hand in front of your auntie and the Doctor.” Your lips parted in realisation and your anger began to dilute with regret, you were about to explain to Loki that you hadn’t let go of his hand because you were ashamed of him, but he continued his rant before you got the chance. “Yet you had no qualms about holding hands with that glorified plagiarist in front of the entire theatre.”
At his words you quickly grew frustrated again and your intentions of explaining yourself to him were quickly forgotten.
“He took my hand what was I supposed to do? Snatch it away just to please you? And what do you even mean by ‘glorified plagiarist’ I thought you liked him?”
“Surely you noticed the amount of times he stole the Doctors words, I doubt that man ever had an original idea in his life.” Loki’s eyes looked off beyond you as he voiced his suspicion, before they focused right back on you and pinned you to your spot. “And what about when he tried to kiss you? Couldn’t snatch yourself away then either?”
Speechlessly your jaw fell slack as you brought your hand up to push your hair back from your face and let your gaze fall to the surface of the kitchen table.
“I can’t believe this.” You muttered to yourself before you dropped both your palms to the table and leaned forward to look Loki dead in the eye. “I already told you I wasn’t interested in him. He approached me because he saw I was worried. Worried about you. He asked me what was wrong, I thought he was going to listen to me. As soon as he leaned in to kiss me I put my hands on his chest to push him away because I want you, not him.”
Loki paused as he considered your words, his eyes cast downwards to follow his finger as he ran it back and forth over the top of one of the dining chairs.
“You want me but you would rather no one know about it.” Loki quietly spoke, still watching his own hand.
“No... God, no.” You gently but firmly told him as you made your way around the kitchen table towards him.
You grasped Loki by his elbows to turn him to face you, he allowed you to move him without resistance, but he still hid his eyes from you with his head lowered. You ran your hands down both his forearms until your fingers intertwined with his and then you brought your hands up between your chests. He kept his arms and fingers limp, but apart from that he didn’t object.
“I didn’t let go of your hand because I am ashamed of being with you, but we hadn’t even properly discussed our situation yet and I wasn’t ready to be bombarded with questions from my auntie, you know what she’s like, and especially in that situation it just wouldn’t have been practical.” You explained to him honestly.
“Wh... why would we need to discuss our ‘situation?’ We kissed, doesn’t that say enough in itself already?” Loki finally looked at you with confusion written in his eyes.
“don’t you... on Asgard don’t you discuss with your partner whether or not you’re, like... in an actual relationship?” You hesitantly asked Loki, as you struggled to find the right way to phrase the question.
“Well, we just simply would not be intimate with someone who we didn’t wish to be in a relationship with.” Loki explained, his tone balancing between ‘shouldn’t this be obvious?’ and ‘am I crazy for thinking this should be normal?’
After hearing that, the weight of the situation suddenly crashed down on you. Loki believed he witnessed you almost kiss Shakespeare, the morning after you and he had shared a kiss which to him confirmed that you were together. This meant that not only did he believe you were ashamed of him, he also believed you immediately betrayed him.
“Oh, Loki,” you whispered regretfully. “I- I didn’t realise. On Earth, it isn’t uncommon for people to kiss or even have sex with each other and not be official.”
“Then how do people know whether or not they are, as you call it, ‘official?’” Loki asked, looking completely perplexed by these customs, you had to admit they were confusing and only caused complications, the way of Asgard sounded much simpler.
“They usually just discuss it and come to an agreement.” You shrugged.
Loki slipped his fingers out of yours and for a second you felt your chest begin to cave, but when he pulled out the dining chair in front of him and sat down at the kitchen table, your brows knitted together with confusion. Silently, Loki gestured to the chair opposite him with his right hand, offering you to sit, hesitantly and with a questioning look you lowered yourself into the dining chair.
Once you were sat opposite him, Loki reached his hands across the kitchen table to hold yours in his own.
“I realise that these past few days I have behaved like a fool, I should have allowed you the chance to explain sooner instead of jumping to conclusions and I hope that you can forgive me.” Loki sincerely apologised.
“Loki, I already have,” you assured him. “Just please promise that in the future you’ll let me talk to you instead of avoiding me.”
“I swear it.” He promised. “And if... as you say, we have a future, may I request that we be ‘official?’” Loki proposed and you were endeared by how formal he was about it, you couldn’t hold back your smile.
“I’d love nothing more.” You confessed and you supported your upper body on your elbows as you leaned over the table to seal your agreement with a kiss.
“What’s going on here? I leave you alone for one day to visit a leisure palace and come back to find you two loved up?” You both startled and pulled apart at the sound of Donna’s voice and simultaneously turned your heads to find her halfway into the kitchen.
“You’re not possessed again are you?” She squinted her eyes with suspicion and bounced them back and forth between you and Loki.
“No.” You shook your head, before glancing back at Loki who appeared to be perfectly calm as he offered you a soft smile.
“Oh okay.” Your auntie sighed as she now made her way further into the kitchen, “because the Doctor was.”
“What?” You were hardly following what she was saying as your heart rate was racing, you don’t know why you were having this kind of reaction to Donna finding out about you and Loki, but it felt so sudden, you were hoping that you could have been able to tell her on your own terms and now you were nervous about what she will say.
“The Doctor, he got possessed.” Donna informed you, as she pulled a bottle of water from the fridge before she started approaching the kitchen table.
“At the leisure palace?” Your pitch raised with confusion, as she sat down beside Loki, who suddenly looked nervous by her close presence.
“No, on a space truck on his way to visit a sapphire waterfall.” Donna looked up when you remained silent and saw your wide eyed expression. “That wasn’t sarcasm.” She clarified.
“Is he okay?” You asked with concern.
“Yeah, just a bit shaken up.” She frowned. “But they’re going to have to permanently shut the resort down to prevent it from happening again.”
A silence covered the room while Donna drank from her bottle and you glanced down at yours and Loki’s hands which were still intertwined over the kitchen table and he gave them a gentle squeeze.
“So... how long has this been going on?” Donna rested her chin on her fist as she eagerly leaned forward on the table and glanced between the two of you.
“Uh... since the dark ages.” You softly chuckled at how that made it sound like you had been together for centuries and you caught the way Loki’s lip slightly curved, clearly amused by it as well.
“Oh, so that’s why you both disappeared.” Donna raised her eyebrows.
Your cheeks immediately flamed and Loki began stroking his thumb over your knuckles.
“But listen here, Bruce Almighty.” Donna turned in her chair to focus her attention on Loki, who quickly gave her his attention and furrowed his brows at the nickname. “You might be a divine being of immortality or whatever but don’t think that doesn’t mean I won’t hurt you if you break my nieces heart. Don’t think you’ll get off lightly just because I’m a mortal either, I have a time lord on my side and don’t forget it.”
“Donna!” You scolded your auntie, as your cheeks grew even hotter.
“You have my word that if I were to ever impose any harm upon your niece I’d let you deal with me however you see fit.” Loki swore to your auntie with eyes filled with sincerity before they fell back on you, as you speechlessly stared at him completely enchanted.
***
You and Loki had just crawled into your bed for the night and although you were aware that the God didn’t follow the same sleeping pattern as you, he assured you that there was no place he would have rather been.
You were both laid on your sides, face to face, with your legs intertwined and your chests almost flush, Loki’s arm rested over the dip of your waist and his fingertips traced patterns up and down your spine, his other hand was rested between his cheek and pillow and your faces were so close that the tips of your noses occasionally brushed.
You couldn’t wipe the smile off your face even if you tried. Ever since you and Loki had agreed to be official, it were as if you were receiving an endless supply of liquid endorphins shot directly through your veins, except when Donna gave him ‘the talk,’ you shut your eyes with embarrassment as it played back in your mind.
“I’m sorry for my auntie.” You apologised with a wince.
Your own hand was resting on the side of Loki’s neck and your thumb brushed against the corner of his jaw, so you felt him shake his head dismissively and reopened your eyes.
“Don’t apologise, it’s important to have people in your life who look out for you and care about you. I’m glad that she is protective.” Loki told you, and from the proximity of your faces you felt his breath fan across your lips as he spoke.
Your brows pinched together as you listened to what Loki said and considered how, from what he had told you, he lacked people who looked out for him. To hide your frown, you shuffled down the bed slightly and snuggled into his chest and in response he shifted onto his back so you were able to rest your head upon his shoulder with your arm cuddled around his waist.
“I’ll look out for you.” You promised him with a tired voice.
Loki’s head lifted slightly as he looked down at the top of yours, his features completely softened. Of course he found it endearing that a being far more vulnerable than he, was promising him protection, however more importantly he felt your words to be true.
You had displayed it ever since Pompeii when you ensured he was hydrated while barely conscious in an attempt to keep his temperature steady, then once again when you offered him a place to stay on the TARDIS and then ensured that he didn’t lose it.
The sides of his lips lifted softly as he planted them on the crown of your head.
“I don’t doubt that.” You heard him whisper as he pulled you closer with his arm around your shoulders.
“Goodnight, Loki.” You mumbled softly.
“Goodnight, my love.” Loki answered.
My love. Your chest overflowed with warmth and you pressed your lips to the side of Loki’s neck to give him a lingering kiss before you gently floated off into a peaceful sleep.

i think one of my new years resolutions unironically has to be to watch more stuff bc i have yet to climb out of the slump i’ve been in this entire pandemic where i’ve been way more disinterested than usual in new media. and like. that in turn saps my motivation to write screenplays. i was sitting here trying to come up with a top 5 or 10 list for 2021 shows & movies i liked best and i’m rly like “man i’ve watched, like.... nothing.” especially for movies, i couldn’t even get 5.
i think my top 5 series of the year though are 5. ??? maybe chucky or loki (genuinely think chucky is an extremely impressive franchise revival in a lot of respects, while loki has some fucking incredible payoff but i do wonder how much less hard it hits if you don’t know much comics lore), 4. squid game, 3. wandavision, 2. yellowjackets, and 1. midnight mass.
i don’t know what i would rank as the best movie of the year. i think the movie i enjoyed myself the most with was actually no way home because of the intense nostalgia it activated and how enjoyable of an experience it was to be in the theatre feeling other people’s joy too. but idk.

Okay, so I can't stop thinking about a specific comment I've seen about how Tom Hiddleston and Chris Evans would be nothing without Marvel giving them roles.
Which, doesn't sound too out of this world, maybe worded a bit rudely, but overall we could say that Marvel launched their careers into global stardom. It's kind of a superficial way to look at the job of an actor, but whatevs be superficial I guess.
What pissed me off was what was said after that sentence. Which managed to be ignorant and insulting all at once, not only to TH and CE but to theatre actors and actors in general. It proved that whoever wrote that comment definitely doesn't know how the movie industry works.
Something along the lines of, "TH and CE got like two roles after Marvel and TH would defintely still be an unknown theatre actor if it wasn't for Loki."
They managed to be incorrect about both their careers, hello Chris Evans was not only on Knives Out and TH was in Midnight in Paris and War Horse, just to mention a couple of things, but also, they seemed to believe blockbuster movie = good actor that made it! While that is absolutely not true, there's plenty of bad or average actors in popular movies, there's also a lot of talented actors that don't get recognition or recognition that is limited to their country.
I don't get why they would think only talented actors get big roles? Do they know what goes into getting a role? It's not talent, it's mostly luck and how much you fit the role, physically and personality-wise. Talent is mostly secondary, a lot of the times. I'm talking big blockbuster movies not auteur cinema.
Please, ffs, let's put a stop to the idea that if you work really hard you'll definitely get what you want. Because it. is. not. true.
Life sucks, and a lot of times, news flash, deserving people don't get noticed or succeed immediately. It doesn't mean they are not working hard or that they lack talent.
So even if Tom Hiddleston was to remain a relatively unknown (actually he was on Midnight in Paris and War Horse before Thor 1) actor, it wouldn't mean that he's untalented. Or that he would have to settle for theatre. Saying it like that, like theatre is not a big deal in Britain, is laughable, like it's only Shakespeare's homeland after all.
Oh, and good job on insulting every theatre actor ever and pinning them as failed actors that couldn't get real roles. Jesus Christ.
Stop taking about shit you don't know.

The Devil Works Hard
Chapter 1
Summary: Y/N is an up and coming theatre producer and director. If not found on Broadway, you’re found in the classroom teaching as a Theatre Professor at the local college. A couple camera flashes and a glass of scotch change your life forever, and you’re trying to decide if the secrets are really worth it…
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Rating: T+
Warnings: Overbearing fluff and cliches
You weren’t sure how, but somehow, Lawson Mire had managed to talk you into being the Playwright for a modern adaption of Shakespeare’s Tempest. You muttered to yourself as you sat in your dim office, the main light coming from the laptop screen in front of you. The page was blank, and the cursor blinked tauntingly at you.
Your hands were clasped, and you rested your chin on your entwined fingers, trying to figure out how exactly to undertake this huge project. Lawson had given you a timeframe and a basic idea of what he wanted, but for the most part, you were given creative freedom.
That was something that you normally enjoyed, but right now, it was more of a curse than a blessing.
You had been tasked with turning the tragic comedy into something that the modern generations could relate to. You chuckled at the thought, shaking your head and pushing away from the desk.
Modern generation my ass, you thought. You ran a hand through your h/c hair and sighed, trying to come up with anything.
A thought struck you as there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” you called, sitting back down and grabbing a pencil to start writing down your idea.
“Miss Y/L/N?” a voice asked, a head poking through the cracked door not a few seconds later.
You rolled your eyes when you heard the voice. “Come on in, Hunter. And how many times do I have to tell you to not call me that?”
He chuckled as he stepped in, holding a folder. “Would you prefer Kicker?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Kicker?” you repeated.
Hunter nodded, grinning at you. “You know, describing a plot twist in a story?”
A snort escaped your lips. “Yeah, I got it. Why would you call me that?”
He rolled his eyes. “A lot of the students call you that. Because you make a lot of old literature new and fascinating inspiration to us when we start writing scenes.”
You pursed your lips as you regarded him. Maybe he was on to something. “Kicker, huh?” you chuckled. He grinned and nodded. “I like the sound of that. Anyways. What can I do for you, Hunter?”
“I know it’s a little late, but I needed to submit my thesis before tomorrow.” he said, holding the folder out to you.
You chuckled and took it from him, adding it to the small pile on your desk. If you were being honest, you wouldn’t have cared if he was a day late in turning it in. You hadn’t even started grading the other papers yet.
Something made you flip open the folder to see what the title was. Hunter was already on his way out when your eyes widened. Shakespeare’s Tempest; A Masque of Modern Interpretation.
“Hunter!” you called, grabbing the folder and almost sending your chair toppling over with how quickly you stood up.
He paused when he was halfway out the door, looking back at you with raised eyebrows. “Yeah?”
You walked around your desk, your eyes skimming the first page as you approached him. He stepped back inside, sticking his hands in his pockets. “How would you like some extra hours towards your Doctrinal?”
He raised his eyebrows in surprise. “What?”
Your face lit up with a huge smile. “I’m working with a Director, Lawson Mire. He wants to revamp the Tempest play for a more modern generation. I know Kara had mentioned that she wanted to get some extra hours. Would you be willing to work with me on this project? Your thesis is exactly the kind of energy we need in developing this play.”
He smiled widely, resisting the urge to hug you. “I would love that. Thanks, Kicker.”
~*~*~*~*~
For the next several weeks, Hunter, Kara, and yourself spent countless hours working on the new adaption. Thinking about everything that had happened, you were amazed at your students. Hunter and Kara were some of the brightest when it came to your classes, and you were beaming with pride at the effort they put into this project.
Lawson was also incredibly happy with the work being done. He praised the three of you up one side and down the other, even offering Kara and Hunter internships with his company. They had readily accepted the offer, knowing how well an intern position with Lightning Arts would look on their resume.
~*~*~*~*~
And four months later, when the play was in production, all three of you were proud of the way your play had turned out.
The sounds of upbeat instrumental music mixed with the varying voices of the gala hall assaulted your ears. A glass of bubbling gold liquid was held in one hand while the other was used to gesture as you spoke.
Truth be told, you were bored out of your mind. Being the Producer and Playwright of the new adaption of The Tempest, you were pretty much required to attend the gala after the first showing. Thankfully, you weren’t alone. Or…so you thought. You continued to scan the room as you tried to hide the scowl of displeasure.
Lawson, the Director, had successfully abandoned you.
You turned your e/c eyes back to the group of people in front of you, chuckling as you did. You had absolutely no idea what was just said, but everyone else seemed to get a chuckle out of it, so you might as well join in.
If you were being honest, this was the part of the job that you enjoyed the least. You were more at home behind a desk with your fingers tapping away at a laptop or with your glasses sitting on the tip of your nose as you scrutinized the set. Interacting with the higher society wasn’t something you were especially good at. Thankfully, you were quick enough on your feet to get through the few hours you had to spend with them.
Your black clutch was held securely under your arm as you raised your glass slightly to the group in front of you, quietly dismissing yourself. As soon as your back was turned, you downed the rest of your drink, desperately wanting something a little stronger. It wasn’t a few moments later when a waiter paused beside you, offering the tray. You chuckled, nodding to him.
“Thank you, Gavin.” you said, placing your empty champagne glass on the tray and taking the glass of scotch that he offered. He had been one of the servers you had first met several years ago, and the two of you got on quite well. He was always there at the right moment with exactly what you needed.
There was a twinkle in his eye as he tipped his head to the side. “Of course, miss Y/L/N.”
You sighed as he slipped away, leaving you to face the crowds once again. As you began to make your way through the throngs of people towards the exit, you were swarmed by cameras. Catching you off guard, you were ill prepared for the moment. Your eyes widened and a piece of your pinned hair fell in your face as you tried to stammer out a response to the sudden flashes of cameras.
You still desperately searched for an exit as you took a step back from the press. But they didn’t seem to get the hint. You felt your heart clench and your chest tighten before the breath hitched in your throat. But as you took another step backwards, your back collided with something solid. Before you could turn around in a panic, you felt two hands land on your shoulders.
“Are these people bothering you, love?” a silky voice asked.
Not able to formulate proper words, you simply snapped your mouth shut and nodded quickly.
The hands that were on your shoulders slid down your arms in a soothing gesture before returning to their original position. You could feel a sense of calmness wash over you when you heard the stranger speak again. “If you’ll excuse us, we have somewhere to be,” he said.
He moved his hands, placing one on the small of your back to guide you away from the crowd. You moved willingly, gratitude radiating off you in waves. You were guided to the balcony doors and into the fresh air. When the crisp night air hit your lungs, you let out a ragged sigh of relief. “Thank you,” you said, turning around.
What you saw almost made your heart stop. A man with sharp features, piercing green eyes, and shoulder length black hair stood in front of you. His hair was tied at the base of his neck and his keen eyes were examining you closely. He wore a black tuxedo and a black shirt, the only color being the satin emerald tie around his neck. He was watching you curiously, one hand in his pocket and the other hovering close to you.
“It’s not a problem, my lady.” he said with a crooked smile.
The velvety tone in his voice almost made you swoon. If that wasn’t enough, he had a rich accent to top it all off. It sounded close to British, but you knew that wasn’t it.
You cleared your throat before smiling up at him. “You would think I’d be used to this by now.” you said with a chuckle. “Regardless, I appreciate it.”
He shook his head. “One is never truly accustomed to the spotlight. You handled it rather well.”
A laugh fell from your lips. “Well, thank you again. I’m Y/N, by the way.”
He flashed another grin at you. “Tom.”
“Nice to meet you, Tom.” you replied, tilting your head slightly as you said his name.
“The pleasure is mine, Y/N.”
A slight blush managed to take over your cheeks. Hopefully, you could play it off as the chill in the breeze. “Well, it’s getting a little chilly out here.” you said slowly. “Would you like to go for a coffee?”
He raised an eyebrow just slightly before inclining his head. “I’d be honored.”

Take a Look Back at Olivier-Winning U.K. Stage Career of 'Betrayal' Star Tom Hiddleston
September 5th, 2019 by Josh Ferri.
Tom Hiddleston makes his official Broadway September 5 when the hit Jamie Lloyd revival of Harold Pinter’s marital drama Betrayal opens at the Jacobs Theatre. Tom leads the production as Robert, a man who finds out his wife and best friend have been having a seven-year affair together.
The British actor is best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers (and all their subsequent sequels) and his Golden Globe-winning star turn on TV’s The Night Manager, as well as the films Kong: Skull Island, War Horse, Midnight in Paris. But what fans might not realize is that Tom Hiddleston is an Olivier Award-winning stage actor with an impressive list of U.K. credits to his name. Scroll on as BroadwayBox takes a look back at these earlier Tom Hiddleston performances.
The Changeling, 2006
After completing his studies with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, 25-year-old Tom toured Europe as Alsemero in in Cheek by Jowl and the Barbican’s production of The Changeling.

Othello, 2008
Next, Tom appeared alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor in Othello at the Donmar Warehouse. He played Cassio and was nominated for Best Newcomer in a Play for that performance as well.
Ivanov, 2008
Later in 2008, he co-starred again at Donmar Warehouse in their production of Chekhov’s Ivanov. He played Eugene Lvov opposite the great Kenneth Branagh. It would be Branagh who cast Tom as Loki when he directed the film Thor.
The Children’s Monologues, 2010
He took the stage at the Old Vic for one night only in 2010 to appear in Danny Boyle’s The Children’s Monologues. Tom was one of many celebrities who performed monologues adapted from first-hand experiences of children in South Africa. His was about a child who got an orange on her birthday.
The Kingdom of the Earth, 2012
Tom performed Tennesee Williams' The Kingdom of the Earth as part of the Stories Before Bedtime series at the Criterion-Theatre. He played Chicken.
Coriolanus, 2013
His proper stage return came in 2013 when Tom starred as the title character in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus at the Donmar Warehouse. The production was preserved and broadcast in theatres worldwide.
Hamlet, 2017
When Hiddleston and director Kenneth Branagh reunited for a three-week run of Hamlet at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, tickets were so hard to come by they were given out by lottery.
Betrayal, 2019
Tom returned to the West End in this current production of Betrayal. The revival first played the Harold Pinter Theatre earlier this year before transferring to Broadway’s Jacobs Theatre, where it will run through December 8, 2019.

Having played a sold-out run at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre in spring of this year, becoming the hot ticket of the town and the crown jewel of London’s acclaimed “Pinter at the Pinter” season, Olivier Award-winning director Jamie Lloyd’s hit revival of Betrayal has now crossed the pond to offer New York audiences a slice of the action. Previews began at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on August 14, 2019, ahead of tonight’s official opening.
What’s it all about?
Inspired by his own seven-year affair with BBC Television presenter Joan Bakewell, playwright Harold Pinter’s classic 1978 drama Betrayal centers on a trio of intertwined characters. Emma and Robert are the onstage married couple of the piece and the third character is Jerry, who is Robert’s best friend and who had the honor of being his Best Man at his wedding to Emma. Jerry is also Emma’s lover and the two have been engaging in a seven-year extramarital affair of their own. All the while, Robert has been having extramarital liaisons of his own and it turns out all three of the characters have been constantly betraying each other through not telling or withholding the truth. Famously, Pinter tells this tale of betrayal in reverse chronological order, beginning with the end of Robert and Emma’s marriage in the present day and jumping backwards in time from scene-to-scene, allowing us to discover how the affair began to unravel, how Robert first discovered the infidelity and, eventually, how it all began.
Who’s starring in it?
The cast includes three great British talents, who are all making their respective Broadway debuts. Golden Globe and Olivier Award winner Tom Hiddleston, who most will know from his fan-favorite role as Loki within the “Marvel Cinematic Universe,” stars as Robert. He is no stranger to the London stage, having starred in the likes of Coriolanus, Othello, Ivanov, and Hamlet, and he won great praise (and a Golden Globe) for his performance on the BBC’s “The Night Manager.” His other most notable non-Marvel film credits include “Kong: Skull Island,” “Crimson Peak,” “War Horse,” and “Midnight in Paris.” Alongside him as Jerry is Charlie Cox, also a Marvel favorite thanks to his titular role as Daredevil on Netflix. He previously made his Off-Broadway debut in Manhattan Theatre Club’s 2016 production of Incognito. Fans will also recognise him from his TV role as Owen Sleater on the hit HBO series “Boardwalk Empire” or his film appearances in the likes of “Stardust” and “The Theory of Everything.” Finally, Zawe Ashton takes on the role of Emma. She is a UK television star thanks to her role on Channel 4’s “Fresh Meat,” and has appeared regularly on the UK stage, including starring opposite Uzo Aduba and Laura Carmichael in The Maids, also directed by Jamie Lloyd.
What’s special about this production?
This revival of the Pinter classic, with a running time of 90 minutes, has been stripped bare, allowing audiences to concentrate on the text and the performances of this gifted bunch of actors. There are no costume changes, few props and a simplistic set and scene changes are solely enriched by the effective lighting design of Jon Clark as well as Ben and Max Ringham’s subtle sound design. Having the actors perform in modern, generic dress lifts the piece out of the 1960s/70s and gives it a timeless feel that hits home. It’s also of note that all actors remain on the stage for the duration of the piece, whether they were originally intended to be a part of the scene or not. The third character dwells in the background or in the closest vicinity to the others, almost like a physical embodiment of the elephant in the room or as a constant ghostly reminder of the omnipresent betrayal. But what’s truly special about this production is the confident performances of the cast, comfortable in their silences and self-assured in their choices. Bravo!
Who would we recommend it to?
Aside from Pinter aficionados and die-hard “Marvel Cinematic Universe” fans, aching to see their idols up close and personal, this production is for all those who love their dramas juicy and scandalous. It is for all those who don’t find big budget sets a necessity to make great theatre and it is also for those who may have already seen past revivals of the Pinter classic and are ready to experience Betrayal in its purest form…

AVENGERS ENDGAME SPOILERS!!!! SPOILER ALERT!! BIG OBVIOUS SPOILER ALERT!!
So I just got home from my midnight screening of Endgame and DAMN that was a wild ride! A fitting end to a decade long saga, although definitely some things that could've been improved upon. I'm gonna break down my thoughts and comments below, so once again, DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT ENDGAME SPOILERS!!
-So let's start with my (predictably) biggest reaction: Tony's death. Yes, I saw it coming, and yes, it was less angsty than I had feared, but oh my god I'm depressed now. Even typing the words "Tony's death" makes me wanna cry, I was not prepared enough for this apparently
-Tony's family: Morgan was very cute, but Pepper is still irritating af and I'm not particularly pleased by the family story they gave him, especially as he dies in the end, and also it ruined my Stony dreams even more. Bringing me on to:
-The Stony reunion: no no nO NO NO NO! Tony still hated him, then they were barely on speaking terms, then it was the final battle and the end. No big resolution, no real connection between them. I've been waiting three years for this and honestly I feel a little cheated
-Speaking of fucking up my Stony, the ending of Steve's arc: ofc he had to become old (or die), as I've said before he has to have a plausible excuse to keep him out of future fights. But I'm still not a fan of the aging thing or the Peggy thing, like it's good that he had a happy ending and all but it's not the ending I wanted
-Also, Sam becoming the next Cap: I think it should've been Bucky. He and Steve were much closer friends, and Sam already has a hero alter ego, whereas Bucky has none (he's no longer the Winter Soldier, and White Wolf didn't really seem to catch on). I think it's a bit sad that Bucky didn't finally "earn his place" with the good guys by inheriting the shield
-Speaking of the shield, Thanos destroying it was not something I expected, but DAMN I almost cried
-And also, MJOLNIR!!!! It's back and Steve can pick it up!!! Like we all called it but still, it was badass as hell, and the interactions between Steve and Thor over it were great
-The time travel: I don't pretend to understand how time travel works in this movie or how it didn't mess up the timeline with all the changes, but revisiting and adding to the old movies was GOLD, especially the A1 scenes with Loki and the OG 6, it was my favorite part of the movie
-Where the fuck was Carol for most of this? I get that it needed to centre on the OG Avengers to be a fitting goodbye, but she could've done a lot more?
-Natasha's death: fuck that was sad. The scene with her and Clint on Vormir was honestly heartbreaking
-The women uniting was one of the best moments in the movie
-Not a fan of the new Thor or Hulk personas tbh. So much work has gone into their character development, only for them to be changed really rapidly with little explanation...
-A1 Loki is bae, I miss him
-Cap v Cap was hilarious
-Wish the elevator scene had been more dramatic, but the entire theatre SCREAMED when it started
-No post-cred for the first time in TEN YEARS wtf Marvel
I'm sure there will be more ramblings to come, it was 3 hours of movie to process, so keep checking back for more vaguely coherent comments as they appear.

Tom‘s Spirit Week
Just one more day waiting! But first: #FavoriteTomFriday! For today I made again 3 collages. The first collage‘s theme is my favorite Tom Hiddleston moments from his 37th birthday – today. Here they come:
1. *Since I saw Early Man after the man‘s 37th birthday, I made an exception for this. In Early Man Tom does the voice of bad guy Lord Nooth. We know Tom is the king of accents! Here you can hear Tom do a French accent. There is a bath scene in which Lord Nooth gets an massage, you just got to see the Behind The Scenes footage of that! I really loved all the extra footage on the DVD.
2. The promotion he did for Avengers Infinity War even though his character only was seen in the first 5 minutes. Also for knowing Loki‘s ‘fate’ in this movie for more than 2 years..
3. Tom Hiddleston as Mary Poppins, or do I need to say: Mary Ploppins? Tom starred in the short video ‘Leading Lady Parts’ from which in the end you saw posters of Tom being the lead female role in films such as Mary Poppins & Wonder Woman. Leading Lady Parts sarcastically shows how hard the movie industry for women can be. Leading Lady Parts (produced by Rebel Park Productions) is an initiative of the Hear Her campaign in the United Kingdom, in which women who are normally not heard are given the opportunity to give their opinion on all kinds of subjects. In this short movie actresses audition do a serious role, but get the craziest requests. This becomes painfully clear when the casting agent, played by Catherine Tate, proclaims: 'It's not rocket science darling. We're just asking you to be thin and curvy, sexy and innocent. Thin, sexy, hooker, virgin with boobs and hips. " In the end because of the casting Agent pickiness, Tom Hiddleston is given the female roles instead. I appreciate it a lot that Tom is part of projects about women‘s rights. We all deserve to be treated fairly and not to be judged because of the way we look.
Tom said about this:
“I had so much admiration for everyone who's come forward and spoken up, and the movement of Time's Up and Me Too. I wanted to find a way to help but I was very conscious of it not being necessarily my story. First thing I felt that it was important to do very actively was to listen, to read, to hear so that women could tell their stories and begin to talk about how we might change the environment.” Time's Up
4. Suddenly out of the blue, there was this picture of Tom Hiddleston & Josh Wilson posted by Wilson Worldwide Productions Something about a secret project. I‘m still very curious, because we still don‘t know what it is! I think it‘s something very spectacular! We got something to look forward to! He also posted a second photo (that‘s the one in the collage) in which he tagged me & a few other Tom Hiddleston/Loki fan accounts in. That totally made my day, so thank you Josh!
5. This stands for all the Comic Cons he did. He healed a lot of fan‘s hearts (Which were still broken because of Infinity War). And even those who werent there (including me) this angel reached with his wings. There were plenty of lovely pictures, lovely footage of the Panel‘s. I personally loved his face expression when a little boy asked him if Loki was truly dead. There also was this moment Tom said the words: “Know you are not alone!”, which meant a lot to me. We all have obstacles to face and unfortunately most of us had to deal with bullies (in the past). But where I‘m mostly grateful for is the fact that for every con there were fans collecting fans letters from all over the world, bonded in fan-books. Therefore I know a few of my letters, cards (Christmas card, Birthday card) are given to him! I think we can be blessed to be in such a wonderful fandom! ACE Comic Con.
6. On the 30th October Tom and Josie Rourke talked at the Alan Howard / JW3 Speaker Series. It was a lovely and inspiring interview, I was able to watch later on Youtube. He talked about how he stepped out of his comfort zone, which has inspired me to do the same. When I hear this man talk about acting; whether it‘s in film, series or theatre; it‘s so so visible I‘m listening to a man who found his passion and as I said it before: He truly has put his heart and soul it. Perhaps I do not know how to properly bring this into words, but I hope you understand what I mean. I think many people can see him as an example, given the fact for example how he has grown in +/- 20 years. From liking to do voices as a kid to this passion and talent which goes much deeper than just the word ‘acting’. He does inspire people to go take their passion to the next level as well.
7. Tom Hiddleston‘s first social media post in (what was it?) 2 years: Loki. More stories to tell. More mischief to make. More to come. That literally broke the internet! What Ralph Breaks the Internet? No, Tom Hiddleston breaks the internet! The #LokiSeries (#Disney+) confirmed by the man himself! I‘m so excited for this whole thing. Patient, patient.. But I‘m freaking out inside! Can‘t wait!
8. Tom also did a lot for charity this year. The picture that I chose is Tom visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity. He gave the children something they‘ll never forget! Online you were able to write a Christmas wish for the children, which got printed on a Christmas Stocking. On the photo he holds (I assume) his message for the Children. In general he did a lot for Children this year. Tom also donated for the Justice and Equality Fund which was all about the issues of sexual harassment and gender inequality. I remember people said Tom was late during the Avengers Infinity War screening/premiere in London, he met with children in co-operation from the Starlight Children's Foundation before. I cannot think of a better reason to be late for an official event ;).
9. This photo is taken by BBC Radio 2 during the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show. It‘s truly one of my favorite pictures yet! There he spoke about ‘#Betrayal’ which will be hitting the theatre in London next month. He also spoke a little about the Loki Series & about the #Nightmanager season 2, but he wasn‘t alowed to say much about it yet. What better to start your Friday morning (it was a Friday) with then listening to Tom‘s voice on the radio! They also had some real good music in-between the talks. I heard ABBA, Journey (Don‘t stop Believing) & a live performance of a song of No Doubt. Also they spoke about the film 'Mary Queen of Scots' which premiered that week. I found it very impressive!
(The Jamie Lloyd Company Official London Theatre)
The second collage shows some random pictures of Tom I really like + my favorite roles he portrayed other than Loki! Those are Thomas Sharpe in ‘Crimson Peak’, Hank Williams in ‘I Saw The Light’ (the image shows my fave scene: the Baby scene!), Prince Hal in ‘The Hollow Crown’ (I am planning to do a Hollow Crown marathon tomorrow on his birthday!) and I just found out F. Scott Fitzgerald from ‘Midnight in Paris’ is missing. I‘ve watched that film on his birthday last year. In Midnight in Paris a writer (Owen Wilson) literally finds his inspiration in the 20s. And one of my favorite moments of Tom still is when a baby easily got him distracted during an #Avengers Interview. He turns to the baby and says: “Hello baby..”, so adorable!
Last collage is dedicated to Loki! (How else, this blog isn‘t called Goddess of Loki for nothing!) I chose some nice photo‘s I hadn‘t used for We Share What We Want Wednesday yet + a few of my fave LokiTom moments.
I wish Tom a lovely 38th birthday tomorrow! (Of course I wish you all a lovely #TomHiddleston Birthday tomorrow!)

Tom Hiddleston is set to star in a new production of Harold Pinter’s 1978 play, Betrayal, which is set to premiere at the Harold Pinter Theatre in March as an extension of the Pinter at the Pinter Season.
Pinter 8: Betrayal tickets go on sale 30 November 2018.
Renowned actor and international superstar Tom Hiddleston is perhaps best-known for playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having starred in the role in Thor, The Avengers and their subsequent sequels. Other film credits of his include Steven Spielberg’s critically acclaimed 2011 film, War Horse, and Woody Allen’s 2011 romcom, Midnight in Paris. In 1999, Hiddleston began his acting career in theatre with Journey’s End, and in 2008, he won an Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play for his portrayal as Posthumus Leonatus and Cloten in Cymbeline (2007). He last took to stage in 2017 when he played the titular role in Hamlet at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Further casting for Pinter 8: Betrayal will be announced in due course.
Betrayal is a unique title in that not only does the play’s subject matter involve extramarital affairs, but the play also betrays time itself by making use of reverse chronology to tell the story. With the play beginning in 1977 and ending in 1968, Harold Pinter’s innovative plot device left audiences scratching their heads when it first premiered at the National Theatre long before Kill Bill came into the picture decades later. And yet, it was precisely this unique approach that led to Betrayal being regarded as one of Pinter’s major dramatic works, which features the playwright’s signature sparse dialogue, bottled-up emotions and hidden motives.
Last seen in the West End in 2011 back when the Harold Pinter Theatre was known as the Comedy Theatre, Pinter 8: Betrayal is set to premiere at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 6 March 2019 and is booking until 7 June 2019. Don’t miss out on the highly anticipated revival of Betrayal and be sure to book your tickets when they go on sale on 30 November 2018! (x)

Strict parents are my life so I’m gonna be good at this
“Can my friends and I go to dinner?”
“Which friends? Do I know them? Can I have their parents numbers?”
You took a chance and told them that there was a guy going
“There’s one that you haven’t met, his name is Peter but he-“
“nOPE”
“BUT-“
“BUT NO”
“Fine!”
You stomped up to your room and slammed the door
“EXCUSE ME YOUNG LADY”
wHoOpS
Anyways
The next day at school
You had to tell Peter that you couldn’t go out with him
“Why not? If you don’t want to, that’s okay, you can just tell me, I’d understand I mean-”
“No, it’s not that, I promise! I just have … I just have really strict parents and they won’t let me go out with anyone.”
“That’s it? I thought you just had changed your mind!”
He looked really relieved
Smol boi ™
“I even tried saying it was a group of friends, but they said no. I’d have to really sneak around.”
“No, don’t sneak around. They won’t like me when they finally find out because then they’ll think I was making you sneak around.”
“It’s the only way I’m gonna be able to see you.”
“I think we should start sneaking around!”
dOrK
So he took you on a date for lunch one day
It was a Wednesday
Bc you knew your parents were both at work so they wouldn’t have any chance of seeing you
He took you to the closest fast food place
But it’s the thought that counts
He buys lunch obvi
And you guys just laugh at how messy and unflattering the burgers are for a first date food
But you have a class together right after
What even is paying attention?
Lovesick glances at each other akgbdjlangadjgvnda
I want that
So he’s like ‘I’ll be chivalrous and walk you home!’
You laugh in his fACE
“If my parents see me with you you’re going to be under their car tomorrow by ‘accident’ so I wouldn’t Peter”
“… have a nice walk then…”
He texts you later
You had forgotten you had given him your number
And your parents are like
wHO’S THAT
“It’s this girl I met in my bio class, she needs help with the homework.”
Your parent, reading text: “I had such a great time at lunch today, see you tomorrow, and there are three heart emojis??”
“She’s a really nice girl, she’s a bit lonely though, so I had her sit with me at lunch.”
“Okay, what’s her name?”
“Hannah…”
“Okay.”
You made his contact name Hannah lmfao
And once he sees this
“Why is my name hannah in your phone?”
“Because when you texted me the typical after first-date text I was struggling to come up with a cover story”
“rIGHT SORRY”
He takes you to a movie once
“I’m gonna go study with Sienna (idk Sienna just seemed like a teen girl name?)”
“Okay, be home before nine!”
“It’s eight thirty?”
“Be home before midnight…. Not a minute later or you’re grounded for life”
“Thanks guys!”
He takes you to a crappy romcom and you kiss him for the first time :’)
He is shooketh
Shaken
You go to the bathroom before you guys leave the theatre
And you realize that your lips are all swollen
And then you realize that you sorta made out?
So you panicked
You ran back out and yelled at him
He was so scared
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t know, I didn’t mean to, I’m so sorry!”
“Just help me fix it or you can kiss this relationship goodbye! Not really though, lets not make this any worse…”
He doesn’t know wtf to do
He remembers that ice helps swelling
So he just takes some ice from his drink and has you hold it between your lips
It’s a mess
He drops you off like a block away from your house
“Are you gonna be okay walking?”
“Gonna have to be, you can’t take me any further.”
“Alright, goodnight Y/N.”
Shy awkwards smiles and lil hugs and a smeck too
Aaaaa
Sneaking around is gr8
