Tumblr media
Peter is reading something for research when you suck in a breath and finally ask, "What was your first kiss like?"
You hear his voice die in his throat. The small whispering of test results and calculations fall short, but you don't dare to look back. You're hunched forward so he won't see the way your eyes burn and brim with tears unshed because if he did, he'd ask about it and then you'd really start crying. Instead, you busy yourself with your phone, idly scrolling as if your question was pure curiosity alone.
You watch his ankles uncross, hear him sit up and then lean against the headboard again, fumbling for your train of thought, "Uh... sticky, 'cause I was six," Peter laughs, "You should know. You're the one who kissed me."
No matter how many times he tells you this, you can't remember the day you'd been so bold as to plant one right on Peter Parker's lips. You felt like you'd remember that, but you'd been such an impulsive child back them. Bolder. Thicker-skinned.
But Peter remembers, and so does Aunt May who swears up and down that she'd caught it on camera ("If only I could find that damned photo album"). You're the only one who doesn't. It's like it never happened, "No, God... no. I mean like your first real kiss."
"Like with tongue?" You hear the humor in his voice and even your sullen mood doesn't stop you from smacking his knee. "I dunno what you're talking about. That kiss was real to me."
"I'm serious, Pete."
He hums. You're so, so tempted to look back and see what he's thinking, but it would give you away too easily. "It was... it was a kiss. I mean, Gwen- you know. You know. I was crazy about her. I didn't think I just... kissed her."
"How did it feel? Do you know?"
"I felt like I needed to do it. I felt like if I didn't, I'd throw up. Not actually, just... like I'd explode with all the feelings I had for her."
Your finger hovers over a tweet. In your wondering about that feeling of almost nearly exploding, you try to picture that rooftop kiss that Peter had relayed to you between classes, with hushed whispers and childish laughter. It was windy, and I was breathless, he'd said, and I wanted to lay myself bare. And I just... pulled her in. Shot a web and swept her up and kissed her. I think I've lost my mind. You remembered pressing your back against the school lockers to cool yourself as you imagined the scene, the steps it took for you to settle the uneasy churn in the pit of your chest. The euphoria and panic upon realizing that your Peter was growing up.
You felt overwhelmed just imagining it. You barely hear Peter ask why you want to know. "No reason. Was just curious."
You think that Peter accepts that as good enough reason because the room is silent again. You keep scrolling, keep taking subtle deep breaths to keep the tears at bay. You see a picture of a couple on your timeline and scroll faster.
A few minutes of peace pass before Peter broaches the subject again, "What about you?"
"Hm?"
"I don't think you've ever told me about your first kiss."
Your shoulders tense. No good effort hides the strain in your voice, "I haven't?"
A beat passes. You glance over your shoulder and see Peter staring right at you, his lips upturned in a small, resting smile, but his eyes are inquiring. He's trying to read you. Perhaps he's just noticed the heavy cloud hanging overhead. "Nope." He pops the "P". He's waiting.
You could lie. You could say it was Flash Thompson who stole it, mention that field trip to the zoo in middle school when he'd sneaked next to you at the peacock exhibit and pestered you about you and Peter. Peter wouldn't question Flash about it. Even if they'd made amends, any conversation about him would send him over the edge with memories of his childhood bully and how much he pitied you for having your first kiss with him. And all of you were far too old now; Flash Thompson had gone to another state to play football the minute he got his diploma. It'd be so inconsequential, such an easy lie.
But the longer it takes you to deliberate on it, the worse it makes you look. You should've offered up an answer easily, jovially, unbothered. It should be inconsequential. Anything more and Peter would call your bluff because he knew you better than you knew yourself sometimes.
At some point, you feel the brush of a lone finger at the base of your spine and it startles you. Peter's slipped his finger under your shirt, stroking along the middle of your back, "I won't laugh. If that's what you're thinking." He says softly.
Of course Peter wouldn't laugh at you. As much as your relationship was teasing, he knew where you were tender.
But it wasn't laughing you worried about.
"I know." You say, in lieu of a real answer. You fear you've given yourself away.
Now there are two fingers stroking your skin, "You don't... you don't have to tell me, if you don't want to," but you can hear the discomfort in his voice when he says it, like the thought that it's something you don't want to tell him concerns him, "it's up to you."
Just lie. Your breath shudders and immediately you regret it. There's no way he hadn't heard that.
Before you can recover, you're feeling the heat of his entire hand on your back now as it slips further up, as he sits up in bed beside you and rests his chin on your shoulder. The closeness of his breath makes you feel claustrophobic all of a sudden, "Hey, hey. I'm sorry. Did I push? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you."
You struggle to shake your head, but now your eyes are burning again and you don't think you can stop the tears this time, "You didn't." You insist.
"You're crying, bub," he laughs (not mockingly, never mockingly, never when you cry) and reaches a thumb up to brush away the first warm tear, "what's wrong?"
There's a million things you could say. I've never been kissed before, I don't know what it feels like to be longed for like that, I want to be longed for like that, why haven't I been longed for like that? But it all feels so heavy. Peter picks his chin up to kiss your shoulder and that really does it, "It never happened."
Peter's lips still against your skin. Their warmth slowly peels away, though you feel his breath ghost over the curve of your bone, "What hasn't?"
"A kiss. A first kiss, Peter. I've never had one."
"That's..." Peter sounds almost shocked, disbelieving. He never picks up that thought.
You turn your head away and toss your phone onto the bed, no longer interested in pretending you could distract yourself with anything else. You try to shrug your shoulder out from underneath Peter's mouth but he's quick, the hand at your back locking around you and you can't escape him even though you want to, even though you need to get away from his sweet smile and lovely heartbeat that thuds a little faster against your side.
It was already so much to tell him you hadn't had your first kiss yet, to admit to your best friend who—despite popular Midtown High opinion—has always been so irresistible to lovers, that you haven't gone as far as something so... simple. Something teenagers running your old stomping grounds have probably experienced ten times over by now. You don't think you can handle his pity too, "Peter, please."
"There's nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all. Everyone moves at their own pace."
You hiss through your teeth. You don't mean to, but the spite overwhelms you like red hot heat for a minute, "It's easy to say that when you've done it already."
You catch Peter's eye and immediately regret it. His untamed brows are drawn together, expression more analyzing than pitying. Even though you're brimming with feelings, he seems as if he's trying to wade through them, search for the gnarled root at the center of it all.
Then, and he says this so carefully that the meaning takes a moment to catch up with you, "There's nothing wrong with you."
It's the sincerity that does it. You shove his hand off of you, jerk away from him in a scramble to stand, but Peter is fast and lithe and he's always been two steps ahead of you even before the bite. He's up on his feet before even you are, coming to stand in your way when you go to grab for your bag, "Peter, move."
"Look, can we... can we talk about this?"
"I really don't want to. Move."
"Why are you shutting me out?"
"Because I want to go home. Move."
"Is it because of what I said?"
"Yes!" You blurt, growing frustrated the longer he blocks your path, "yes. Because I'm sick of being told there's nothing wrong with me when clearly..." Your voice tapers off, afraid to give him the reason he needs to worry about you, "Please. I'm just tired. It'll go away on its own, it always does, I just can't be here right now."
The standoff between you two lingers, feels like you might have to fight him just to escape. It takes everything in you just to keep eye contact with him and not burst into tears.
Peter clearly doesn't want to let you go. You can see that genius brain of his running every possible scenario in his mind in which he convinces you to stay, cry it out, leave happier than you came. None of them come soon enough. You brush past him when he realizes he's got nothing, and even the hand that grabs for you is halfhearted, shrugged off with little force.
"I'll see you later, Pete."
You let his front door shut on its own.
Tumblr media
It hasn't been great.
What typically took a few hours to shake off had settled over you like a dark cloud ever since you'd stormed out of Peter's place. Even though you texted him like everything was fine (and dodged any phone calls so he wouldn't hear the truth with those freakishly good best friend senses of his), you had yet to see him again. Had yet to let yourself be seen.
You told yourself that it was just you missing Peter, and you believed that to be true, but you also believed that when he looked you in the eye and told you "there's nothing wrong with you", you hadn't been prepared for the nakedness of it all. He'd dug deep, right to the source. That kind of thing was hard to move past.
So you avoided him. If he came by your place, you pretended you weren't home. If he showed up at your work to take you to coffee, you lied and told him you had plans with a coworker. It had been several days now and you felt more and more cowardly by the minute.
It was Peter. Of all people, it was Peter. Your best friend. You could tell him anything (most things, some kept a little closer to the heart). You should be able to.
And it was silly. Being embarrassed about not kissing anyone. Plenty of people were in the same boat as you and they didn't ice their best friend out about it.
Ugh, now you were just making yourself feel worse.
You'd had enough. You'd end this pity party today. As you make your way through your apartment door, you promise yourself that after you've showered, after you've made yourself a filling dinner, after you've settled into bed, you'd call Peter and ask him to meet for pizza this weekend. You'd talk like civil adults who understand that life isn't a race. You'd share your couch, laugh about the whole thing, and maybe, just maybe, the hollowness in your chest that longed for someone's desire to fill it would finally-
He's sitting in your kitchen.
Legs dangling off the island, mask rolled up to his nose, and a spoon clattering out of his mouth and into a bowl of ice cream. Your front door shuts gently behind you.
You stare at each other for a few seconds. Then you glance through your bedroom door, cracked open just enough for you to see the breeze rustling your curtains. You turn back to Peter, who's cleaning off his bottom lip of raspberry sorbet. "Did you climb through the window? You have a key."
Peter sets the bowl down beside him, shrugs, "You weren't returning my calls."
Your shoulders sag and you drop your things to the floor, "Peter-"
"No, no," you watch him slide off the countertop and bounce over to you, and the nearness you aren't prepared for makes you back away an inch or two, "No Peter. I'm not Peter. I'm Spider-Man. See?" He gestures to the suit.
You reach your hand up and pinch his exposed cheek, then narrowly avoid his teeth before he tries to nip you, "I'm not in the mood. I said I'd call you later, I'm just... busy."
"Busy avoiding your best friend."
You can feel him trail after you as you walk away, beginning to undress. He catches your coat when you throw it toward the couch and hangs it up all neat on a hook. He kicks your shoes to a wall and tugs your belt from your fingertips once you've undone it. Then, unexpectedly, he hooks said belt around your waist and yanks you back to face him.
The momentum throws you fully into his chest but he's sturdy, unmoving as you grip his shoulders and give him the most hostile look you can muster. You attempt to wiggle out of the trap but he pulls the belt tighter, forcing you closer, and then you start to panic as the space between you both disappears, "I haven't been avoiding you, I just needed space." You quickly explain.
"And I get that," he admits, "but you scared me. I've never seen you like that before. Not with me. Not ever."
Of course he hadn't. It was why you kept all of this a secret in the first place. Because you knew he'd worry, and you knew that there would be nothing he could do to fix it. Not like he usually could.
"It was a... brief lapse in self-esteem. That's all. You're making it into a bigger deal than it should be."
"It's not a big deal?"
"No! That's what I keep trying to tell you."
"So it doesn't matter at all."
"Correct."
"Right."
"It's just an arbitrary milestone that means nothing." You grip the leather of your belt but you're nothing against his superhuman strength. Pleading with your eyes, you do your best not to slip back into that vulnerable place all over again. Peter made you feel safe to do that. Way too safe to do that. "I promise. I'm not avoiding you."
You get sick of staring into the whites of his mask and so you grab the edge of it and pull it up to his hairline, little tufts of curls poking out as his face is fully revealed to you. You stare into those sharp, probing eyes of his, forcing yourself to stand the test of Peter Parker's perception.
Suddenly, you're released.
You stumble back a bit, the belt clanking against the floor, as Peter throws his arms up in defeat, "Alright, alright. I get it. I should've let you breathe the other night. I was just worried, is all."
You smile, "And I appreciate that."
Peter quickly glances at you and then away, making an exaggerated show of kicking imaginary dust off the floor. "First kisses really mean nothing then, huh?"
"Zilch. Nada."
"So... doesn't matter when it is, who it is..."
You watch him carefully, "If this is about when we were six-"
"No, no, I know that didn't count. You don't even remember it," his face contorts in a wince, "I was just thinking. Something."
Your eyes narrow, "Uh-huh."
"Well, I mean, is that why? Because you don't remember it? Or... is it because it was me?"
"The kiss?" Peter blows a raspberry, looking more bashful by the second, and nods without looking at you. "It's... it's because we were six. And we didn't know what we were doing. I was just mimicking what we saw. We didn't know anything."
"And now we do."
"Yeah. What are you getting at, Pete?"
He sits on the back of your couch and kicks his feet out in front of him. "If all that matters is that we both know what we're doing, and a first kiss is just a meaningless milestone to you, then I thought that maybe we could give it another go. You know. So when a real kiss comes along that actually means something, you'll have an idea of how it's supposed to go."
You're six years old again.
You and Peter Parker are sitting in the dirt, mouths covered in sticky ice cream that the summer sun melted right up. You're both talking about Flash Thompson's trip to Florida and the hilarious sunburn he came back with when you spot an elderly couple across the park, pressing their mouths together over and over.
You're looking over at Peter and asking about it, sure it couldn't possibly feel good, and he's telling you that when Uncle Ben kisses May good morning in the kitchen he always looks away because it's gross.
And you're thinking... you start thinking something.
You're thinking it would be funny—that Peter would hate you for it, but you're just so curious—and you're pressing your lips to his so quickly that he doesn't get a chance to pull back before you're giggling in the grass. And May's voice flutters in the background, a shrill and delighted, "I caught that!" that makes you both turn tail and run toward the swings.
Peter's still staring at you, waiting.
Part of you feels like it's pity. Like he doesn't want you to feel bad about yourself. Like he doesn't know how else to fix it, because he has to fix it. He has to fix everything. He has to be your hero.
But the other part? A restless and selfish part wants to take it; it's curious.
You take a step forward, the two of you watching each other, waiting to see if the other might back out at the last second. He stays exactly where he is, legs parting slowly, and the silent invitation makes you feel hot under the collar.
When you're standing between them, you feel his knees bump your legs on either side, his hands planted firmly into the couch cushions. You notice the grip he has on them, "Are you sure?" You pause.
Peter tilts his head in that strange, spider-like way. As if he cannot fathom why would you ask such a thing, "Of course. I'm the one who offered."
Your hands shake as they consider where to put themselves, and you get about halfway to his shoulders before he takes them and places them on either side of his face, mumbling something about how it might help you feel more in control, quell your nerves a bit.
Peter's cheeks feel so warm in your hands, and you can feel each swallow he makes the longer you take in his expression. "Should... I move in first? Or..."
He laughs, short and high-pitched, "I guess I can go first."
You know you're supposed to close your eyes, but as he comes in close, you can't help but keep them lidded, taking in every twitch of his mouth as he inclines his neck, shuts his eyes, and kisses you.
Your brain reacts a half-second after his lips touch yours. You've probably stopped breathing, and you have to force your lips to unstiffen so that you could actually feel him. His lips are a little wet—he'd been rolling his bottom lip between his teeth since he'd sat down—and they taste faintly of raspberry. They're not cold though, and the feeling isn't unpleasant.
You don't know how to react to it, don't know if you should move or not, and so instead you curl your fingers into the silk of his nape and wait for the pounding in your chest to stop.
You feel him mouth at your bottom lip just once, and then pull back. "How'd that feel?"
You recall the sensations that went through your brain (all that it can recall anyway, when Peter's looking at you like that), "Slimy...?"
Peter's face falls, and then he bursts into laughter, shakes with the force of it, and drops his head on your shoulder. "There's got to be a better word than that."
"I don't know! I was just thinking about the feeling."
"I don't want to know what it felt like, I want to know how it made you feel. Did you like it? Hate it?"
"I don't know. I'm- I'm nervous."
"Hey, that's okay," his hand rubs your hip, warming the skin there, and you find yourself leaning into it for comfort, "everyone is their first time."
Peter is so, so gentle. Your heart feels like it might give out, but a little less now that it's over and he's not looking at you in disgust. You don't know what you expected, but... this was better. By far. That part of you that felt selfish takes over again, "Can we try again?"
His eyes widen a bit, but he's immediately nodding, "Okay. Yeah. Okay. We can try as- as many times as you want."
You nearly choke on your spit. "Can we?" Your voice comes out a meek whisper.
Peter nods. He brings his legs in so that he's sitting properly now. "Of course. You wanna move me? I can sit somewhere else. Or you can sit if you want."
"No, I like you here," you say, feeling your stomach tighten when his thighs lock against your legs, "um. Is there anything I can work on? How did I feel?"
"Warm. Soft. Just try to loosen up, alright?"
You force yourself to release the tension in your body and move in first this time. Images of rom-com kisses flood your brain, how you memorized their rhythms and the placement of their mouths. You try your best to mimic it, make it feel as good as it seemed to look, when you feel one of Peter's hands slip behind your head and angle you away just a hair, "You're tensing up," he warns, making you pause, "it doesn't have to be perfect. It's just you and me. Breathe for me, okay? Turn your brain off."
You feel your stomach flip a bit, and nod along mindlessly. You try again.
This time, it feels a little different. Not wet or stiff, even if it is still awkward. It almost overwhelms you when, as you're mouthing at Peter's lip, he returns the favor, but you keep your brain empty. You can't focus on the details because it won't feel right. You can't focus on the way it looks because it won't feel right.
So you focus on Peter. You focus on the hand on your hip drawing you closer and the hand on your neck rubbing circles into the knot there. You focus on the feeling of his suit under your pinkies. You focus on the small hum he makes when, with quite a bit of building up to it, you pass your tongue over his.
Almost as soon as you do it, you pull back. Peter is flushed and it makes the beauty marks on his skin stand out more. His eyelashes flutter, a half-smile on his lips that are kissed red. By you.
You open your mouth to ask but he beats you to it, "I think you've got it now... yeah. Definitely." You're so relieved you sigh, sagging away from him, but he catches your hands before they can can leave his face completely and holds them in his lap. You don't dare move them. "How about you? Did you like it?"
You nod, speechless.
Peter laughs and squeezes your hands in his, "Okay, good. Good. I love you, you know? I know it doesn't... replace what you're looking for, but you're wonderful. You're insane and funny and stunning and there's nothing wrong... you know? You're perfect. Take it from your loser best friend who had to get bit by a radioactive spider to get to first base."
You snort, "I mean, if that's all it takes..."
Peter shakes his head and stands, but his hand remains on your neck as you follow his eyes to his full height, "So, we good? No more ignoring me?" You bite your lip, nodding your head. Peter smiles. "Good, cause I'm starving and I need you to split a pizza with me."
"You just polished off a tub of ice cream and you're still hungry?"
"I'm a growing spider, honey. And I missed you." Without warning, the hand on your hip hooks around your back and hoists you into his body, throwing you off balance once more, "I'll swing us there and cover cheese sticks too. Sound good?"
You know you don't have much room to argue when he's being so generous. And not when he's beaming at you, so genuinely relieved to have you back that it would knock you off your feet if he wasn't holding you up.
He was right; this wouldn't replace what you were looking for, but it gets pretty damn close. Closer than you expected, actually. But it's just the adrenaline. This didn't change anything.
Did it? You stare up at Peter.
"We can try as many times as you want."
You might have a very different problem than you started with.

Peter Pan Donuts is a sacred place.
Or, rather, it was a sacred place—and walking back into the shop now felt awfully strange.
Back when you and Peter first started high school, it had become a tradition to end every Friday with one of the renowned pastry shop’s legendary frosted crullers. You considered it a well-deserved reward for surviving another week of more drama than either of you could stomach, thankful that the weekend was finally upon you and that you could finally breathe without inhaling the reek of the unwashed teenage boys that lined the halls of Midtown.
Peter Pan’s quickly became a haven. A safe place where the two of you could tuck yourselves away at the end of the bar, talking for hours about the teachers you hated and the bullies you hoped would fall from the face of the Earth. There was nothing that you couldn’t talk about, no secrets kept between you and Peter.
Or, at least, none that mattered.
But things changed as time passed, as they so often do.
It started with the inclusion of Ned. You didn’t particularly mind his presence, even if the conversations had begun to shift towards less intimate topics, focusing instead on movies that you all wanted to see or upcoming video games that you would all try to play.
Then came the inclusion of Mj a few months later, after she landed a job at the shop. That was when everything truly changed—when it was no longer you and Peter tucked away at the bar, but you and Ned, left to pick at your food and watch as Peter leaned across the front counter and talked to Mj over her shift.
After a few months of testing every donut on the menu with Ned, you stopped going altogether.
And Peter never even asked why.
“I was surprised to see you texted me,” you quip as you slid onto the free barstool, “what happened to not wanting me to get involved?”
Peter exhales sharply through his nose, and even though his eyes are glued to his phone, you can tell that he was already regretting asking you to meet him here. “I already told you that what I want doesn’t matter.”
And how true that must have been.
There had been nothing kind about his text to you this morning, although there was nothing inherently rude about it either, you supposed. It was simple—meet me at Peter Pan’s asap, need 2 talk—but you could almost sense the begrudging nature with which he had typed it. And, sitting next to him now, you could almost feel it, too.
He didn’t want you here, even if he had been the one to invite you, and you couldn’t help but wonder why he had decided to involve you at all—especially so soon. What had changed in a single night?
Sitting on the barstool to your left, Parker pops his lips. “Well this is fun. I’m not at all uncomfortable right now.”
You turned towards him, acknowledging just how different he looked in the civilian clothes that he donned in place of his suit—black jeans that certainly looked worse for wear and an old Ramone’s t-shirt that you immediately recognized as yours. Oversized on you, the short sleeves clung rather tightly to his well-muscled arms. Did he seriously go through your stuff?!
“Why are you even here?” You ask, perhaps a little sharper than necessary. You weren’t angry that he had gone sifting through the armoire in the spare bedroom, especially since he couldn’t just parade around as Spider-Man all of the time. But he could’ve at least asked. “Shouldn’t one of you be busy patrolling?”
It was hard to tell if the offense on his face was real or feigned, but you didn’t care much either way. “Peter wanted answers about my world, I wanted food,” he shrugs, gesturing at the crème-filled donut in front of him. “And Peter 2’s handling patrol.”
Peter 2—you had almost forgotten about him, the version of Peter that hadn’t wanted to come with Ned and Mj to your apartment last night. As far as you could tell when you woke up this morning, he hadn’t shown up in the middle of the night, either—no trace of Parker or anyone else when you had finally stumbled out of your room to get ready after reading the text from Peter.
You didn’t figure it was really your business where the mystery Peter was, but you were a little surprised to hear that he was still out patrolling. Was he not exhausted?
“Ametaur move getting crème-filled,” you tell him, ignoring everything he said. “Should’ve gone with the frosted vanilla cruller, it’s way better.”
“No way,” he gapes, grabbing the half-eaten pastry and shaking it for emphasis as he said, “this is god-tier, alright? No way anything’s topping it.”
The expression on his face was actually hilarious, his brown doe eyes alight with pure euphoria as he took another bite of the donut. An exaggerated moan slipped his lips, coated with bits of sugar and crème. It was hard not to laugh at him, especially when you knew that was probably his goal—to combat the evident tension between you and Peter.
Chuckling, you lift your hands in mock defense. “Suit yourself, Parker. But if you ever wanna experience true pleasure, then you know what to order.”
Parker looks as if he's about to continue his borderline-lustful tangent about the donut, but Peter spoke up instead, his attention snagging on the name you used.
“Parker?” He echoes in disbelief, letting his phone clatter against the bar.
Peter’s sudden resurgence to the real world left Parker silent, sinking back against his stool and taking another bite.
“What?” Your brow arches, your voice laced with incredulity. “Did you really think I’d keep calling him Peter 2? No offense to Ned, but everything about that feels stupid.”
Peter’s eyes narrow, coupled with a subtle shake of his head that indicates he doesn't care nearly enough to have this conversation right now.
You didn’t care much either, and so you steered the conversation in a more productive direction. “So what is this grand plan of yours?” You ask with a somewhat sarcastic lilt. “And where do I fit into it?”
Another huff of breath escaped his nostrils. “We don’t even have a plan. Not yet,” he reluctantly admits. “But I tried talking to Doctor Strange last night, to see if he had some sort of magical spell or something that would let us go back and fix all of this.”
Your lips press together, nibbling on the skin and pretending you didn’t notice the hidden meaning behind his words. He hadn’t just gone to Doctor Strange to find a way to get rid of the villains now lurking in your world, because if he had, then he wouldn’t have gone specifically seeking out a spell that would let him go back—not just to stop the villains from ever coming here, but to save May, too.
“Did he?”
Peter reached for his cup of iced coffee, if only to occupy his now-fidgeting fingers. “No,” he murmurs, the sound of sloshing ice nearly overpowering him as he swirled the cup. “He didn’t.”
You frown at the tinge of disappointment that snuck through his otherwise even tone, your chest aching. You had to fight against the urge to say I’m sorry, remembering what he had said to you last night—he didn’t want your apologies, nor did he seem to want anyone else's.
In truth, you weren’t sure what Peter wanted; or what you could do to help him.
“Well did he have anything useful?”
He shook his head, lifting the cup to his mouth. “Define useful,” he scoffed, sounding uncharacteristically sharp. He took a sip of his drink, his nose scrunching as soon as the coffee hit his tongue—too bitter.
Despite the coffee’s pale color that indicated it was more cream than coffee, you weren’t surprised that it was still too strong for him. Peter had never truly developed a taste for coffee, only pursuing a caffeine addiction for the sake of combating the exhaustion that came with being Spider-Man. That didn’t mean he had ever grown to like it though, masking the taste with copious amounts of sugar and syrups.
“Something that will keep multiversal villains from tearing our world apart?” You venture half-heartedly, guided by pure instinct and muscle memory as you reached over to take his cup from him, snagging a few packs of sugar from the plastic canister on the bar to0.
“He has a theory,” Peter gives you a tight-lipped smile, born of pure frustration.
“A theory? And he expects us to save the world with this theory?” You ask, a bit more derisive than you would have been if Doctor Strange were around to hear.
Peter scoots closer to you, his voice purposefully low. “Do you remember when I told you about him using the Time Stone before Mr. Stark died? To look through all the different outcomes with Thanos?”
Ripping open the sugar packets and dumping them in his cup, you managed to mask a wince at the mention of Peter’s dead mentor. You only nodded, not trusting your voice to stay steady if you tried for any sort of verbal affirmation.
“Well… when he did that, he thinks that he might have actually seen through the multiverse—he just didn’t know for sure at the time.”
Your forehead creased as you popped the lid back onto his cup, sliding it back towards him. Given his advantage of Spidey-sense, he easily caught it before it could slide too far and end up on the floor—which is what would have definitely happened pre-Spider bite.
“And you don’t consider that to be useful to our current situation?”
“No. I don’t.” Peter answers firmly. “Because at the center of it all—in every universe the Stone showed him—all he saw was you.”
You nearly laugh, your lips curving as you rose a brow at him. “Me?”
Peter gave a nod as he took another sip of his drink. This time, his nose didn’t scrunch.
“But it’s been almost a year since the Avengers took down Thanos,” you reminded him, your stunned amusement beginning to fade into confusion. “If he saw.. Me, when he used the Stone, then why didn’t he say anything until now?”
By no means would you consider yourself to be close with New York’s resident Sorcerer, and so you wouldn’t have expected him to come to you with this knowledge. But Peter—he knew Peter, and he knew that you were Peter’s best friend, and so it didn’t make any sense to you why Doctor Strange chose to wait until now to mention what the Stone had shown him.
Given the aggravated expression Peter wore, it was clear that he was thinking the same. “I don’t know, and trying to get answers out of Doctor Strange that he clearly doesn’t want to give is like pulling teeth.”
“But what does that mean?” You couldn’t stop yourself from pressing further, concern starting to bubble up inside of you. Regardless of his answer—if he had one—you had a feeling you wouldn’t like it. “I don’t get how I’m at the center of every universe.”
Peter blew out a breath, his fingers going back to tapping against the sides of his plastic cup. “Alright, so there are probably well-over a hundred thousand different parallel universes, okay? Some of them are probably super similar to ours, and then there are others that are the complete opposite.”
“O-kay,” you drone, your brows drawing together. You felt the start of a headache coming on as you prepared yourself for the confusing science-talk that was surely about to start pouring out of his mouth.
Perhaps noticing your pained expression, Peter tries to find a way to simplify whatever explanation he was about to use. “Try and look at it like this,” he started, “think of the multiverse as some giant, cosmic loom, alright? Now imagine that each thread on the loom signifies a person. As the loom weaves all of these different threads together, different decisions get made and different actions are taken—and with every choice, a new thread is spun, branching off and creating a variation of the original tapestry.”
“So it’s like you and Parker, right?” You interrupt him, rubbing at your temples. “Same thread, different reality?”
“Exactly! And, technically speaking, that’s how it’s supposed to be. As the loom weaves and alters reality, each thread continuously evolves into something different.” He paused, his fingers finally falling still. “But now imagine that—in the center of all of these branching tapestries—there exists one thread, entirely unbroken and unaltered by this ever-weaving tapestry of existence, okay? A glitch in the cosmic fabric, a constant that’s woven into infinite realities and yet, somehow, remains fundamentally unchanged. How does that work?”
You couldn’t ignore the sense of dread creeping up your spine, nor could you escape the slight wobble in your voice as you said, “It doesn’t sound like it should.”
“You’re right, it shouldn’t work.” Peter confirmed, his expression nearly impossible to read. “But according to Doctor Strange, you are that thread. A constant anomaly that defies every potential law of the multiverse.”
Nausea bubbled in your gut. God, you did not want to deal with this right now!
“And let me guess,” a bitter laugh follows your words, “that’s as much information as he was willing to give, wasn’t it?”
“Yep,” Peter pops his lips, leaning back into his stool. His brows raise slightly in a silent I told you so before he says, “Hey, you’re the one that wanted to be involved, right? Now you’re at the center of everything-”
“I said I wanted to help you,” you correct him sharply. “Not that I wanted to be at the center of Doctor Strange’s weird Time Stones fantasies!”
He only shrugs, barely acknowledging the dirty look you gave him as he plucks his phone off of the counter, clicking on a notification. “Same thing, isn’t it? Either way, you get what you want.”
“What I want?” You echoed, your mouth hung open in disbelief.
“Doctor Strange seems to think that whatever is wrong with you might help us solve all of this. That you might be connected to the multiverse somehow, or that you’re at least immune to it. So yeah, you get what you want. You get to help,” he spat the word out like an insult, too focused on typing something to even notice how rude he sounded.
If it weren’t for the feeling that stomach acid was about to come crawling up your throat, then you might have taken some time to unpack the bitterness in his tone or be hurt by the claim that something was wrong with you—but you didn’t. Even if you had, you weren’t sure that it would have gotten you anywhere.
You weren’t stupid. Peter was wielding his insolence like a shield, purposefully trying to hurt you as an effort to keep you at arms length—and, if you had to guess, Mj and Ned were probably receiving the same treatment right now.
“Well this isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted to help,” you admitted, one hand going to rest against your cramping stomach. At least the throbbing in your temples had died down…
Peter only shrugged at you, shoving his phone in his back pocket and rising to his feet. “Too bad,” he told you, offering a smile that most definitely wasn’t genuine. “I’ve gotta go, but make him walk you home, alright? I’ll text you if I hear anything else from Doctor Strange.”
Parker frowned beside you, and whether it was because Peter was speaking about him like he wasn’t here or because of his attitude in general, you couldn’t tell.
“Whoa, hold up! You didn’t even tell me what your plan is until you hear from him!” You argue, reaching for his wrist to keep him from walking past you until he answered.
He pulls his hand back from your grip, but not before your stare snags on the reddish hue that stains his nails—blood. Noticing it only served to make you feel sicker, and to make your concern for Peter grow larger. Was he really still walking around with May’s blood caked under his nails? Has he rested at all since last night?
“Same plan as always,” he told you, your eyes snapping up to meet his, suddenly noticing how rimmed with exhaustion they were. “Stop the bad guys.”
He didn’t leave any time for protests or further questions before turning his back to you and heading straight for the exit. When the little bell on the door chimed as he shoved his way back out onto the streets, you couldn’t stop the worried sigh that escaped your lips.
Peter was an Avenger by every right. He had battled alongside a Norse God and helped take down a literal Titan, and so knew that you shouldn’t have any reason to doubt his capability when it came to taking down whatever villains had crossed into your world.
But it wasn’t that you doubted his ability to survive against them, or even his ability to stop them—you were worried about whether he could handle the weight of it all.
The weight of him placing yet another thing on his shoulders. Another villain, another fight, another burden, another chance to lose someone.
Thinking of that, it suddenly dawned on you that maybe Mj and Ned weren’t getting the same treatment as you. Maybe you were getting the worst of it, if only because now whatever connection you had to the multiverse was just another weight he thought he had to bear, another person he had to worry about protecting.
Guilt flooded your veins, and even as you tried to remind yourself that you hadn’t caused this, you still couldn’t shake the anxious feeling that it was somehow your fault anyway.
“Y’know, I get that this probably isn’t the right time for this,” Parker starts. When you look at him, your attention immediately snags on the dozen donuts that he had ordered while you were talking to Peter. “But I think it’s so cool that you guys have magic in your world!”
He takes another bite of the donut in his hand, powdered sugar falling from his lips as he says, “And these donuts! It’s a tough call, but they might be even better than magic!”
You didn’t know him well enough to be able to tell if he was intentionally trying to lighten the mood or if it was just incidental, but it worked all the same. Laughter poured from your mouth, and it wasn’t until it died down that he said anything else.
“Sooo… That was tense, wasn’t it? Like, it wasn’t just me, right?”
You groan, propping your elbows against the counter and placing your cheeks in your palms. “Was it that noticeable?”
Parker snorts a laugh, stretching an arm past you to reach for Peter’s abandoned coffee. “Oh, yeah. It’s actually painful to be in a room with you two.”
His playful tone made it clear that it was just a joke, but it still made you feel bad. You already didn’t like how hostile things felt between you and Peter, even if it was only one-sided, and to know that others felt it too just made it that much worse.
“Things are just.. Difficult, right now.” You tell him, choosing your words carefully.
“So it hasn’t always been like that with you guys?” He asks, and the delicate arch of his brow made it seem as though he were shocked by the possibility that things had ever been civil between you and Peter.
There was a chance that you had misread his expression though, as it was very quickly wiped away once he took a sip of Peter’s half-drank coffee, gagging as soon as it hit his tongue. “Holy shi-” he started coughing, cutting off the vulgarities that threatened to spill out. “How does he drink this?!” Parker yelped as soon as he could take a full breath, looking utterly disgusted as he shoved the cup back across the bar. “It’s literally just liquid sugar!”
You found it hard to stifle your amusement at his suffering, even as he shot you a teasing scowl for it. “No,” you answer his previous question, trying to ignore his melodramatic display, “believe it or not, things between us actually used to be really… I don’t know—easy, I guess.”
Parker was still smacking his lips to try and rid himself of the cloying aftertaste. “What changed?”
In retrospect, you realized that it probably would have been smarter for you to bite your tongue. To offer him some cheap, cop-out excuse rather than tell him the truth. After all, you already had experience in hiding from the truth and it wasn’t like you really knew Parker, and so lying to him shouldn’t have been a hard task.
Yet, for some reason, you told him the truth anyway.
“Mj happened.”
Parker’s brows furrows. “The girl from last night, right?”
“Yep. That’s the one.”
“Y’know, I don’t really like her all that much,” his words were spoken like a balm, seeking to ease the dejected look etched upon your face, but tinged with enough playful sarcasm for you to know he didn’t actually mean them. “She threw a bread roll at me. A few of them, actually.”
It was hard not to laugh at the thought considering that it was such an Mj thing to do. “Sounds about right,” you crack a smile, although you don't feel particularly happy. “She’s always been slow to trust, especially complete strangers.”
In an odd sort of way, the statement felt like a lie. Not because it actually wasn’t true—because Mj was wary of strangers—but because Parker didn’t quite feel like a stranger in your mind. While last night had been a bit awkward, you now felt like talking to him was effortless, each sentence rolling off your tongue with unnatural ease.
“But she trusts you?” Parker asks, picking a crumb off another one of the pastries and popping it into his mouth.
You sucked in a breath.
“I don’t know,” you answer him, with a bit more honesty than you're comfortable with. “I mean, I know that she used to trust me. But now… I’m not even sure if she likes me anymore.”
His brow snapped up. “What changed?”
Suddenly the truth no longer felt so easy, and you found yourself wishing that you could change the subject altogether. You didn’t want to talk about this—especially not with him, some boy that you had known for less than twenty-four hours.
But you had backed yourself into a corner, and so in an effort to try and satiate whatever interest he had developed in the story you had told, you settled on offering a vague half-truth.
“She started dating Peter,” you tell him simply, putting effort into looking disinterested. “They got together a few months ago and things just… It just got weird, y’know? It’s always awkward when two of your friends get together, I guess. Creates too much drama.”
“Yeah, for sure,” Parker hums, agreeing with you. “Especially when you have feelings for him, right?”
An incomprehensible noise escaped your throat, best categorized as something between a laugh and a cough. Your mouth fell open to try and defend yourself, to try and deny his claim—but he didn’t even give you a chance.
“Oh c’mon!” Parker groans, grinning when he notices the now rosy complexion of your cheeks. “Did you really think I wouldn’t notice? I mean, let’s be real here, alright? That whole sugar thing earlier?” He jutted a finger towards Peter’s abandoned iced coffee, “Was a dead giveaway.”
“You’re insane,” You declare, shaking your head and masking your embarrassment with uncomfortable laughter. “I don’t have feelings for Peter—and even if I did, it wouldn’t matter! Regardless of what it’s done to our friendship, Mj is literally perfect for him and-”
“I think it’s cute,” he interrupts, a delicate smile gracing his lips. Noticing the way your brows furrow, he elaborated, “How much you care about him. And how much you care about her, too, since you’re so willing to pretend like you don’t like him.”
“I’m not pretending-”
Parker jokingly cut his eyes. “Yeah, sureee.”
Blowing a frustrated breath, you push yourself up from the barstool. “Alright, I think it’s time to go home.” You tell him, far too flustered to try and come up with a good defense to his teasing. “You can take the rest of your donuts to go, Bug-boy.”
There was a subtle shift in his demeanor as the taunting nickname fell from your lips, and he almost felt as though his heart had stopped dead in his chest.
“Fine,” Parker yields, rising to his feet and snagging the box of donuts from the bar. “But I really hope that you have your wallet—cause I definitely don’t have a way to pay for these.” He flashed a crooked smile before continuing, “Or we can just run really fast and hope they don’t call the police on us for stealing pastries.”
“I can’t imagine that robbery would be very good for your reputation as a hero,” you chide sarcastically, your own lips curling into a half-smile, “so I’ll pay—but only if you give me every cruller in that box. Deal?”
Parker spares a quick glance down at the dozen box of donuts in his hands. Half of them were already gone, but through the small cellophane window he could see that there were three frosted crullers left. “Deal.”

You were starting to feel antsy. You could feel it—the nerves kicking in again. Anticipation—a suspension of doubt—made your hands clammy at first, but it was the time that made your hands clutch nothing but air. You rubbed the sweat off your hands onto your pants, your knees not so comforting with their pointedness.
Acceptance—when it was evident that Peter was late, again.
Birthdays have never been a big deal in your family. Sure, it was great that you had the privilege to live another year. To witness yourself grow older, to stand a few inches taller, to live a little more knowledgeable than yesterday. But growing up with parents who had to constantly work, well-late into the depths of night, it had never been more than a birthday wish that had greeted you in the mornings, and bid you slumber in the evenings. Since then, you knew not to expect anything.
If only Peter hadn’t made such a big deal out of it this year.
“Excuse me?” The familiar timbre of a voice speared your thoughts; deep and tunneling as you were transfixed on the glasses of water before you. Yours had been refilled, though a little sparse compared to Peter’s full cup.
Your eyes widened with feigned curiosity, a small smile plastered alongside to hopefully negate any annoyance from the waiter—because you expected what he was about to follow up with.
“Hey… uh,” he shifted on his feet awkwardly, eye bags weighing heavier than the last time he had checked up on you. You looked around, surprised by the amount of patrons who had filled the space around you while you were daydreaming. Laughter and smiles completely lit up the room. The dim lights were practically stationed in the restaurant for decoration, and seemingly to spotlight your ‘dinner for one’ status. “I’m sorry, but… we have no more tables to fill, and if you aren’t ordering soon, then we’ll have to give your table up for the next party...”
It was obvious that you weren’t, you hadn’t even torn into the buttery bread rolls that were piping hot forty-five minutes ago. Now, the fat had solidified into spotty, yellow clumps, though you doubt that would’ve been enough to detract from the quality of the rolls.
“Oh, I—“ You pulled out your phone to check your messages again. Nothing. Swiped down to refresh your conversation with Peter. The loading icon felt like it took forever, you half-expected that your phone was updating the thread with Peter’s messages that somehow got lost in the void of the restaurant’s spotty signal.
And nothing.
“I—yeah… uh. I-I’ll head out.” It was embarrassing. Even if the waiter had given you a sympathetic smile, you hated knowing that you wasted his time. You hated that you selfishly occupied a seat when someone else would’ve been done with dinner by the time you exited.
“Thanks—”
You hated that you had your hopes up for things to be different.
Again.
The night was dreary. Not even the wind had greeted you like the others when you stepped out. Soft and fluttering against your skin, but scolding enough to make you put your coat back on. Luckily, your apartment wasn’t too far from the restaurant, a fifteen minute walk at most if you speed-walked. Shoving your hands in your coat pockets, you then ambled along the sidewalks, wallowing in your feelings with a playlist that belted in your ears once you plugged your earbuds in.
You didn’t have the energy left to hurry home.
Once you crossed the last intersection, you felt a little bit more at ease. Seeing the familiar apartment complex at the end of the block picked your pace up a step more. You paused your music once you neared the entrance, just a turn away before you could finally bury yourself in your bed.
You reached into your pocket to grab your wallet. The weight in your palms instantly reminding you to deposit the cash tips sometime soon before the stretch of the leather had become unbearable to fit in your pocket.
Your walk slowed as your attention was fixated on your wallet, fumbling it open clumsily to retrieve your keycard. In midst, you caught a glimpse of a photo print of you and Peter, standing shoulder to shoulder with the biggest grins as Peter had a peace sign above your head, doubling as bunny ears. Honeymoon phase, they’d call it. Where you were beginning to discover more about Peter, and Peter was beginning to discover more about you. Likes. Dislikes. Hobbies. Memories. It felt like yesterday when you two were spending every second of your day with each other.
Now, it would be a miracle if Peter returned a call.
With the keycard in your hand, you turned the corner, and towards the entrance, the smiles from the photo print reflecting onto yours as you could vividly hear Peter’s pleas to retake them again. The flash of the cameras always made him blink.
If only you had been focusing on where you were going instead of the still image of the first memory between you and Peter, maybe you could have avoided the collision altogether when you approached the door. You suddenly found yourself on your back, facing the night sky as clusters of stars twinkled in laughter. There was a slight throbbing to your forehead, a mark you’d reckon would appear as purple within the next 12 hours despite the painless… pain.
“Oh god— I’m so, so, so, sorry! Let me—“ If the beating your face took to the door hadn’t snapped you back to reality already, the familiar face before you certainly pulled you out of your thoughts like whiplash once he helped you back onto your feet. Your vision instantly cleared of haze, as if his simple presence was your remedy.
“(M/N)?” Peter interrupted himself, his eyes widening. You could see the wheels turning in his head when the dim light spotlighted your features: eyes, nose, lips; flesh and bone that he was well-acquainted with.
“Peter—“ You took a moment to scan him. It was like all the other times he had been late. His fringe; stuck to his forehead with a mixture of sweat and water, the latter being a last resort to clean himself up. His knuckles; bruised and torn with minuscule cuts barely able to conceal the truth behind his scars. His necktie; clumsily done with the knots coming loose. Though, whether the silk unfurled by Peter’s own sloppiness, or by the increasing frailty of his fingers that had become susceptible by even the most delicate material of neckties; it was futile to mention it to him. You knew he’d shut you down with another excuse.
“W-what are you doing here? Are you okay? I-I’m so sorry—I was on my way to you and—Oh god, you’re bleeding!“ Breathless, panting, not only because he was panicking from running late.
But because of adrenaline. You could see it in his eyes. The alertness. The high.
“What—“ You wiped your nose with the back of your hand, only to see a smear of blood blotted across your skin. “Shit.”
Another thick drop splattered in greeting.
“Peter, it’s a nosebleed. You’re acting like I had my arm chopped off or something.” You’ve been applying pressure to your nasal bridge, pinching it tightly to barricade the stream of blood. All while you had your head tilted over Peter’s sink, in case of the blood leaking past your hold. “And how long does it take to find a cotton ball?”
“I’m trying—“ His one-sided game of hide and seek with the bag of cotton balls was leaning in favor of the latter. Medicine cabinet: empty. Bedside drawer: foreign coins and bills. You were watching him from the corner of your eye, a small limp to his step when the lightbulb seemingly lit up overhead and had him dashing towards the kitchen.
“Found it!”
Tumblr media
Peter’s touch was delicate. Tender, like the forming bruise on your forehead. He was adamant on taking care of you, even if frankly—you would’ve done it much faster had it been a solo endeavor. Cotton balls were plugged up into your nose, and a warm face towel was laid across your forehead. If an intruder had the audacity to rob Peter’s apartment, you’d imagine you would find yourself lucking out. Peter joked that you looked like patient zero.
“All done. See? Nothing to cry about.” He was joking again, the smug smile across his face a clear indication of it—and the laugh that he couldn’t help but contain.
“Ha. Ha. Thanks, Dr. Parker. Now, how much do I owe you? I’m paying outta pocket.” For a brief moment, you forgot that you were upset earlier. All because of how nice it was to actually see him again. He pressed a kiss to your lips, a comforting gesture if his constant apologies weren’t enough. Stay focus.
“So, about dinner…”
“Oh,” Disappointment softened Peter’s smile. You could see it tightening, even as he was organizing his room. Though, it was really a matter of tossing his clothes on the floor back into the laundry basket. “Listen, my… bike got stolen and—“
“Peter…” You sighed, pinching your nose bridge because you feared another avalanche of a nosebleed incoming. That, and because it helped you maintained your composure. “You said that the last time. Three times, actually.”
“Third time’s… the charm?” He was joking. Again. But even he wasn’t laughing at it because he’d been cornered. Called out. Embarrassed that he thought that would even work on you. Embarrassed that he thought he could get away with it.
Again.
“Peter.” You called out, straightening your posture against the headboard of the bed when he sat at the end of the mattress. Shit, it’s happening.
“I… I don’t know how to…” The veins in his hands, they lined perfectly to the cuts, scrapes, and bruises on his knuckles. Clear as day now that he wasn’t hidden under a dim light. “I just…”
He had his hands around his face, rubbing his temples, his cheeks, his nose, anything that could alleviate the accelerating drill of his heartbeat.
You were hopeful to get an answer out of him. A proper explanation. But it pained you, knowing that in a few seconds—what he would tell you would only confirm your yearning suspicions of his strange behavior.
He doesn’t love you anymore. He’s cheating. You’ve become a nuisance, an absolute bore in his life. Actually, you’re a bad influence on him. You’re holding him back. He needs to let go of you to accomplish better things. He never loved you.
It’s happening. It’s fucking happening. All he has to do is say those words. The dreaded five words you’ve heard once from him in a nightmare.
I want to break up.
“If you want to break up, just say it.”
It sounded softer in your head, but the tears that had welled in your eyes finally bursted into droplets. They ran down your cheeks, and your voice broke during its pursuit.
Something commanded you to let those words slip out.
Maybe it was the ghost that you and him had been theorizing about since the night you’ve helped him move into the apartment floor above you. Carrie; you nicknamed her, and Peter would scold you for doing so because he had the suspicions that giving her a backstory would ultimately reassess his home as a possessing ground. To this day, he swore he saw a shadow looming in the corner of his room on a perfectly stormy night.
Or maybe it was the months of frustration that you had accumulated, snowballed because of your own selfish reasons to continue being with Peter for as long as you could, even if you saw the signs, because you couldn’t bear to see yourself without him. Live, when you two had promised so many futures together.
“What? No, (M/N), that’s not—“ He jolted up at the mere mention of separating from you. There was a chill. The room suddenly felt colder, and then warmer—scorching hot, when the glossiness of your gaze reflected into his. He began joining you by your side. “Hey, hey, I would never—“
He broke into a cold sweat. He’d never seen you like this. And to think that he was the root of this—of your pain—it was all overwhelming.
“Peter, there’s always something going on with you. Y-you don’t text me for days. You ignore my calls. You disappear without telling me. You’re always late. And… you’re always hurt? And you think that I’m dumb enough to not notice that you aren’t? How you’re limping? How you’re always bruised and—For god’s sake, Peter, I’m just as smart as you, we have the same GPA and—“ You took a breather, a gulp because you were rambling now. Your cheeks felt hot, from your sudden outburst and from embarrassment, because the latter half of your rant immediately negated the idea of some kind of affair.
“Okay, maybe you aren’t cheating, but—“ You felt him tug you into his arms, but you wouldn’t budge. Instead, you pushed away, edging to the other side of the bed to face him.
“I would never.” He sighed, his arms dropping as soon as you removed yourself from his embrace.
“Then what is it? You’re leaving me in the dark here. I barely see you anymore, you know that?”
“I know.” He was biting his lips. Chewing, as if he was internally debating something. A decision that could either ruin you, ruin him, or both.
“Then?”
You waited. Watched his fingers fiddle with one another as he continued turning the screws in his head. Your heart would jump whenever he would open his mouth, anticipating whatever had caused so much turmoil in his life, but there was a last minute decision that kept him silent.
Crickets.
Nothing.
“I don’t… I don’t know what you’re doing. But you’re getting hurt and I’m just… worried.” Your gaze dropped to his hands again. Pale, veiny, and full of life yet they’ve looked like they’ve been worn out. Torn. “At least tell me it’s not gambling.”
“Well—in a way with my life, it kind of is like gambling—“ He thinly smiled, hoping it would at least make you crack a smile.
“Peter!” You scoffed, nudged his side with your elbow out of frustration, then surrendered when you brought your knees up to your chest, and buried your head in between your knees. “Not funny.”
“Okay, okay, just… you can’t tell anyone.” His voice softened.
“We all know that between you and I, you’re the one with the running mouth.” Your voice muffled in the space between your legs, hands tucked around your nape.
“I’m serious, (M/N)” Pleading now, he held your hand in hopes to get ahold of your attention again, squeezing so you’d look at him. You do.
“I won’t tell.” It was a promise. Peter didn’t need you to clarify because he could see it in your eyes, honest and sincere. Determined, as if you were willing to protect him.
“Okay… and also, don’t… freak out.” Peter was off the bed now, wandering in the middle of his room as he rolled his shoulders back, relaxing the muscles in his back like a wrestler preparing for his next fight. He gestured for you to follow him out to the stairway, out into the cold.
“Why would I freak—“ There was something around his wrist. No, wrists. You thought they were watches, but there were two devices around him. They were strapped with a similar black leather to your wallet, to Peter’s, and a red button protruded in the middle of it. “Peter, what are you—“
You stopped a few feet before Peter, watching him closely, yet afar. Afraid, yet intrigued. Concerned, because he was on the ledge of the staircase now, perched like an animal. Yet there was a grin on his face. Not crazed like a madman considering he was acting like one, but foolish. Goofy, giddy like the times he’d hide stuff from you, and wait until you’d notice it was gone.
“Like I said, don’t freak out.”
“Peter, what are you even—“
With that, he opened his arms like wings that spanned across his back and flipped into the air as if the wind would carry him across city to city. As if he was recruited as a sponsor to the heavenly gods with the incredible height he’d taken off in, pursuing the clouds, the wind, the stars, and the night simultaneously all in multiple slings.
Into. The. Air.
Into the fucking air.
You raced forward with a yelp, as if you would’ve made it in time to catch him. To catch his hand before he fell. To hold him one last time before he’d land on the ground and shatter every bone in his body.
If he had landed.
No, you blinked once—twice—no, at least in the double digits because this was all a dream. It was all a dream, right? That you caught a glimpse of Peter somehow slingshotting himself from window to window, from rooftop to satellite, like it was a mundane day job one had to endure to put food on the table, to pay the bills.
Right?
You paced around the stairs, raced towards one floor to another, bending over the railings because—Peter disappeared. He was gone. If he had smashed into something, you would’ve heard him. You would’ve heard him in yelp in pain. You would’ve heard the metal railings shake. You would’ve heard him cry for help.
Instead, you heard the sound of wind. Whistling as it sailed leaves to the west of you.
As if it carried a hint along the way.
“Peter?! Peter—Fuck, fuck!” You followed the sound of the whistle. The source of the pitchy sound. Fluttering when your head spun closer to the note, wavering when you were getting colder, then peaking when your gaze lifted, higher, and higher, until it landed on him.
Peter.
Peter, perched over the rooftop of the apartment complex like a bug. The moonlight framed his silhouette, emphasized the texture of his suit; protruding grids that encased him like a nest; and you’ve never been more intimidated.
Red and blue spandex tightly-fitted over the muscles and body of the man you have been more than well-acquainted with. You’ve seen it before. It was familiar. On the news, on the papers, on the internet.
“You’re freaking out!” He yelled out, clearly amused in your frozen state of shock.
He peered over at you with a smug grin, aimed directly at your bafflement before pulling a mask over his head. It was the icing on top in rendering you utterly incapable of stringing up any words. The lens of his mask reflected off of you, mirrored your astonishment in clear display, and you sensed that would be a memory Peter would be carrying to his death bed.
“What. The. Fuck.”
Tumblr media
“Okay, so, just to clarify,” You were winded, still recovering from the heart attack Peter had nearly given you after he took you on for a stroll in the night. Into the sky.
Luckily his bed was right beside you. As soon as your legs gave out, you fell back into his mattress, and stared into the ceiling, speechless. Peter joined you after, bringing you into his arms. He’d always been aware that touching you in any way or form brought you back to reality. “You are… not a cosplayer?”
“Honestly? That would make me way more money than what I’m making right now.” You couldn’t keep your hands or eyes off of him. Peter was still in his suit, and that gave you the perfect opportunity to run your hands over the webbed texture of the spandex.
“Just a few more months until my lease is up. I can move in, and that’ll help with the rent. For both of us.” It felt like silicone, or rubber. Whatever it was, it was durable considering how thin it felt in your fingers when you rubbed it in between them.
“Just like that? You’re not mad?” Your hands came to a halt when Peter suddenly took them, and rested your palm on his cheek, coincidentally on the cut that you’ve never noticed.
“Why would I be mad?” Quieter. Your voice mellowed into a whisper as you catalogued the amount of beatings his skin had taken. Caressed the marks you were too selfish to notice. Exhaustion wore on his face, and yet he never looked so peaceful as he gazed into your eyes.
Pretty eyes, Peter thought. Ones that could motivate him to get back up after falling. That feels nice, when you pressed a kiss to his damaged skin. A touch that made him believe there was a reason to suffer, to be great, to be all of this.
“Well, for starters, it’s your birthday and… I completely blew it.” Peter closed his eyes when you began brushing his hair back, knotted in cold sweats, but you fanned your fingers out to undo them until they felt somewhat tidy in your strokes. Smooth and soft. He sighed, “Again.”
“Can’t entirely blame you. How would I look if I were to complain about missing you, when you’re out there risking your life for everyone?” It wasn’t a question, but you wanted him to look at you. To respond. And he does, when you pressed a gentle kiss to his lips, and he returned it with a silken one, a following grin. “All I wish for was that you told me sooner, I guess.”
“Yeah,” He figured he’d save the details of the ‘friends’ he had made along the way some other time. For now, it was all about you. “Wow, you’re not even going to wish for me to be safe?”
“Hey, you know what I mean! That’s a given.” You rubbed at his chest, finding yourself quickly accustomed to the scales of his costume. The red was striking against your palms, comforting almost.
“Still. I want to hear you say it.” Peter rolled onto his side and slipped an arm under your back, scooting closer to you. His signature goofy grin never failed to knock a similar one out of you. And unwillingly drawn out, when he began pinching at your sides in quick snips.
“Stop—“ You laughed, your hands occupying themselves to defend your body from his quick attacks. But Peter was fast, avoiding your arms and hands to find another opening that you’d abandon. “Stop, stop! Stay safe! Happy?!”
Closer and closer, you found yourself beneath him, framed by his body as he took your arms above your head and pinned them secured with his tight grasps.“Incredibly.”
Your legs spread open to make room for his body, only for Peter to wrap them around his waist, to press his body into you, kissing you like he was driven to steal your breath.
“This your way of making it up to me?” You broke apart from the kiss, only briefly, before the taste of Peter, the softness of his lips reeled you back in for another kiss. Languidly paced until one’s accelerating lust for one another had taken ahold of the wheel and shifted gears, into a weightiness that kept your mouth parted open while Peter’s impulse to explore you had become evidently clear.
“Problem with that?” He’d been driving his hips into you, grinding his front with your own. Both clothed, infuriatingly covered, but the pressure in between your bulge and Peter’s was too pleasing to ignore. Too satisfying to make him stop. “I should take this off—“
“No, wait—“ You grabbed his forearm when he reached back to unzip his suit. To be honest, you never thought about how he even got in or out of the suit in the first place, but that was beside the point. Something about this suit, this costume, whatever you wanted to call it; it was a turn-on.
The way it fit snug against Peter’s body; how every fiber of muscle was stretching the material to its limit. Maybe you were just turned on because you associated it with him being a hero. For god’s sake, that was as much of an aphrodisiac one could be if you happened to be saved from a falling tower.
Or maybe, it was simply how Peter looked in it. Unabashedly handsome, yet himself, seemingly courting you further into his webs, as if he hadn’t already from day one.
“Keep it on. I like it.” You muttered, fiddling with the collar of his suit. It was snapped on tight, but you managed to slip a finger or two past, to pull at it with a stretch.
“Then how are we going to…” He abandoned the few inches he had unzipped, providing a small relief to the squeeze around his body while his broad back was bare and tense towards the ceiling.
“Then, you’ll take it off. But for now, I just want to…” One hand was on his nape, pulling him down for another heated kiss, while the other traveled south between your body and his. Further, lower, until you cupped him at his crotch. Rubbing, squeezing, and palming at the thick, growing center. “Want to try something…”
You could feel him smiling, a crooked one flattened against your own grin when he whispered, “I should’ve told you sooner, shouldn’t I.”
“You think?”
You were getting harder, your pants beginning to tighten around the center as you palmed him. It was a heavy handful in the beginning, but Peter’s bulge began to unfurl. It didn’t take long, didn’t take much of a stroke for him to unravel from his tuck and thicken into a full-blown erection towards the left side of his thigh. It pointed downwards, the plump head evident through his suit, and you were beginning to drool in Peter’s mouth at the haziest image of it.
“Come on, I need to get out of this… It’s killing me.” It wasn’t like Peter to beg. It was charming, cute, sexy, all the synonyms that could describe how you felt all day and every day about him, and you squeezed, because he wasn’t being patient with you.
“Birthday boy gets what he wants, don’t you think?” He winched into your mouth, and you swallowed him. Swallowed every ounce of breath, and breathed it back out with a kiss. Sloppy, heavy, your tongue weighing on his because you wanted to keep his lips apart, mouth open to hear his moans.
Peter grunted again once you began stroking his cock, touching him like it was a delicate plate of chin. Fingertips only, dusting him off with little pressure so he wouldn’t shatter.
“What are you going to do about it, hm?” You continued your short, limp strokes. “Just going to take it? Hm?” Your wrist was weak, lazy as it became limp to tease him even more. Peter sucked in a breath, doing his best to maintain his composure, but it was all futile, all those attempts of sucking in his lip to chew, to hold back his moans, because you’d slap his clothed cock, grasp it tight in your hand, and massage as much as you could gather.
“Fuck, baby—“ You had him under your control. Even if his hands were free, you knew he wouldn’t lay a finger on you. He knew that if he did, you’d stop touching him, stop stimulating the blood running down every vein of his cock, fueling his erection. His desires.
He couldn’t let that happen. Not after the day, the week, the months that he’d been having.
You and Peter eventually switched places: Peter resting on his back while you sat in between his legs, marveling at the stretch of his suit. Somehow, his cock looked bigger than you’d remember. Squished and pressed flush against his thigh like this. The suit was like a magnet, inviting your hand back to his cock and refusing to let you go.
“Just relax.” You commanded him. He was watching you slouched up against the headboard, gravity weighing his eyelids lower. With his legs spread apart, he provided you excess space as you began massaging his right thigh with your free hand. “Is this okay?”
“Mm-hm...” He knew you were talking about the pressure on his thigh, but the strokes over his cock remained supreme in his mind. Championed through as you pressed harder into the shaft, massaging tenderly from vein to vein. The protruding webbed texture of his suit pressed into him, rolled against cock like the inside of a fleshlight, ultimately adding onto the already gratifying pleasure.
It was glorious.
“More…” Peter gritted through his teeth, a selfish need for more escaping from his lips in huffs. Grunts, when you’d fulfill his wish with two hands now, kneading his cock like dough.
Thick, stiff, throbbing dough.
Before the complaints could come pouring in, you shimmied your pants off in a hurry, tossing it in the corner before greedily climbing onto Peter’s lap. It was like he read your mind, perhaps another secret that he’d been hiding, because he immediately took you into his arms. An embrace, a tight one that grounded you against his bulge, pressing your body weight until it restricted the blood flowing into his erection, as well as preventing an escape.
“You’re so hard…” You marveled at how rigid he’d gotten under you, grinding your ass against the large mass, beating and throbbing with every rut.
“I’m so hard.” He confirmed, complained, and bragged all in one smile. He then took you by the nape to kiss you again. Hard on the mouth, slow with his tongue to taste you and your desires, his desires. His other hand rested on the small of your back, guiding your grinds at first before his fingers looped into your waistband, tugging once before stuffing the strap under your ass cheeks. Your hard-on was the only thing keeping the cotton material from slipping off while you continued grating your hips. “Just like that…”
To make it easier for you, Peter repositioned his erection so it was facing north, towards his navel, in its sublime mass. Your briefs had been tossed to the side now, completely bare bottomed against him while you mounted over him, and rode in needy strides. It was a sight to behold, something that Peter reckoned he should savor. He folded his arms behind his head, providing a self-made cushion for the weight of it, and watched you. It was entrancing, like a dance. You swiveled your hips to a ghosting rhythm, one that could only be heard between two hearts, two parties, between the two of you, man to man.
“Like this…?” Breathless, you unbuttoned your shirt open, but left it present on your body. Sweat formed over your neck, dribbled down to your bare and exposed chest;  it was practically an open-invitation for Peter to ravish you. And so he did, with a haunting groan as he held you, contained you in the warmth of his arms as he simultaneously pulled you forward, and pushed himself off the headboard to meet you in the middle.
He kissed you on the neck, achingly hard when he sucked, and then enthralling, sweat-inducing when he bit into your skin. He couldn’t contain himself. You tasted too good, and it’d been too long since he had you just like this. “Just like that. Your cock against my cock, fuck. I love it so fucking much.” He muttered hot against your neck, panting because he was sweating too. The spandex felt tighter on his skin, constricting against him with every drop of sweat.
“Oh, fuck…” His lips had latched onto your nipples now. Peter’s tongue worked magic on your two nubs, flicking and swirling over their perkiness until you felt swollen. Raw, when he bit, pulled, bit, and bit again. You buried your face into his hair, rocking yourself back and forth with your arms holding him close to your chest, gliding your cock against his print as if a gun was pointed to your head, like your life depended on making Peter come.
You were delirious, humping Peter without a single thought other than to get him off, and you’d reckon that was the goal lingering in Peter’s head as he began rocking back into you. It took a while for him to find your rhythm, chasing after it in slower, sluggish beats, but eventually he caught up to you, snapping his hips against your own, grinding his cock against yours like two crescent moons caressing the other’s curvature.
“Close…” He muttered into your shoulder. Your shirt was hanging off, exposing more of your skin, but Peter made sure you didn’t feel a single chill with the marks he had followed up with soon after. It was like he had done it on purpose. Made you feel safe in his arms, comfortable in the warmth of his body, worshiped with the amount of care he had given your body. Frozen, when you felt something prod at your pucker. Then enraptured, when Peter pushed a wet finger inside of you.
Tremors, chilling tremors ran down your spine as you took the single digit Inside of you with one determined push. “Fuck—“ Your back arched, chest pushed forward towards him, and your hips jolted forward in one strong, and delicious swipe against Peter’s cock. “Peter…”
It was a mouthwatering display of food before him. The perky nubs on your chest, the veins in your neck, the mole on your body, the strain of your thighs on overdrive, the swollen head of your cock; Peter didn’t know what to lay his finger on first, what to mouth on, what to kiss, and suck, and latch onto until you’d scream. Whichever it was, he knew you were desperate for him. Begging, sweating, whimpering, for Peter to lay a finger on you. Another finger inside of you now, and you rolled your eyes at the stretch he was providing you with, a fulfilling wish that startled your hips once more.
“You’re so good, so good for me…” Peter was staring up at you, marveling at the layer of sweat on your body. It glistened with every movement, dripped heavily with every thrust of Peter’s fingers, and tasted just like how he remembered. Salty when he licked up your neck, up your chest, against your nipples, and repeated. Your body was his, and Peter was determined to let the world know. Determined to remind you in case that you’d forgotten.
Your hands were wandering. Grabbing and touching at anything and everything that could linger in between your fingers. Peter’s hair, his head, shoulders, chest, your cock and his, his back. Everything. You couldn’t keep your hands off of him. Even if he was covered from head to toe, you were touching him. Because he was yours.
“Gonna come—“ You cupped Peter’s jaw to straighten his posture, to kiss him sloppily on the mouth, and he pulled his fingers out of you, resting them on either side of your hips as he joined you once again in grinding hips. The pleasure was overbearing, drilling into each individual brain until the smallest movement would render you both speechless. Panting in slurred moans of each other’s names, of profanities that you two had rarely used in your lifetime on earth.
“Me too…” Peter pushed himself on top of you now. Your arms were tied around his neck, tighter than the necktie he had on prior, and your legs; they wrapped around his waist equally secured, if not even tighter, as he thrusted against you.
You were too distracted, unable to respond to Peter’s constant licks in your mouth. He was desperate for you, suckling on your tongue and chasing after it once it slipped out because of your moans. They were rattling, each breath immediately vaulted in the back of Peter’s throat because he couldn’t part from you. Couldn’t imagine a life where he would. And if he had to, at least he’d have a part of you inside of him. Even if it was a whisper.
He thrusted harder, panting into your mouth, his nose practically smushed flat against yours. He wondered if you could imagine that life, a life without him.
“P-Pete—Shit, I’m—“ Your fingers dug into his nape, grounding him impossibly closer to you when that feeling had suddenly come to stun you in place.
It simmered hard in your stomach, then to a rolling boil as it traveled lower to your pelvis. You squeezed your stomach, clenched your toes, and your eyes widened when Peter’s hips showed no signs of faltering. Your cock swelled and your balls jolted, tightened, until you finally saw stars bursting into flames and let gravity have it come crashing down on you. Shivers had you enclose your arms around Peter, holding onto him tight as you felt yourself crumble and spill all over your chest and his suit. You came with a gritted grunt of his name, sinking your nails into his nape because you had nowhere else to channel your spasms as Peter kept rocking against you, drunkenly astonished by how you came for him. By how much you needed him.
It didn’t take long before Peter came right after. He buried his head into your neck, stifling moans into the heat of your neck, clammy with sweat, yet comforting as he filled the inside of his suit with thick, large loads. You felt his cock throb against you when you reached down to help, to ride out his orgasm to the fullest. His cock pulsed as you’d imagine several thick pumps of his load would gush out and uncomfortably layer his navel. If only his suit hadn’t been waterproof, because there was no doubt that he would’ve been leaking out of it by now.
You’ve never been so jealous of spandex.
He was hot in your ear, panting, breathing you in, then breathing you out as you slowed the strokes on his softening cock. Then a sudden inhale, a jolt of his body, when you squeezed hard, to seal the deal in covering the entirety of his cock in his own cum. It was filthy. It was shameless. It was Peter.
“Driving me crazy here…” Peter sluggishly lifted himself off of you to face you, a sleepy smile plastered across his face as you kept kneading at his cock, increasingly sensitive with every second.
“Not enough to drive you away, right?” You smiled, drowsy yourself as you quickly found your high coming to a crash. Though, you mustered enough strength to hold Peter’s cheek in your palm, tenderly caressing, to which he immediately kissed as soon as it reintroduced itself.
Peter sighed, holding your gaze for what felt like minutes, and yet you wished it could be for longer.
It was different this time, the way he looked at you. The same amount of love and warmth, yes. But they no longer wavered, no longer tried to find something else to look at in case you were prying about.
“Never.”
Instead, they stilled, relaxed the longer you stared into him, into those brown eyes of his, because you were in now.
You were finally in his life.
How much you needed him?  His question had been answered.

It was only October 7th and you we're already a stuffy snotty sticky mess from the sudden drop of temperature outside.
It was cold outside, but the light from your wooden bedroom windows sunbathed the room, brightening your pale complexion.
tissues were plastered all over your messy bed and your phone was constantly dinging with messages from your group chat. you didn't show up to work, or to school that day, and by the looks of your random naps and binge watches on Netflix, you had forgot to call anyone to let them know you couldn't make it, including your boyfriend peter.
you kept coughing which made your head pulsate more as you wrapped your blanket around you and curled into it, squirming and desperately trying to get comfortable.
he was always super protective of you. sometimes it was really annoying but it felt good to know he was always thinking of you. and thats probably an understatement.
you felt sick. that might've been a blunt word, but everytime you tried to swallow your own spit it hurt like hell and you felt your head beating in pain like a heart would pump blood.
you groan and pull your comforter back over your head before you flutter your eyes closed and try to get your mind off the pain in your throat. It burned everytime you breathed which made you hiss uncomfortably. You eventually get yourself to fall asleep (after way too many doses of NyQuil) with half of your body immersed in your pillow.
you rested softly for a few hours before you woke to the sound of peter climbing through your window. you're eyes could barely adjust to the light as your tried to look up to see who it was, but your body was too tired to try and shake yourself up.
he rolled on the floor after falling from your complicated window sill but quickly got up with a groan.
he puffs, dusting him self off as he looks around the room for his girl.
"love?" peter looked around curiously to find you laying in your bed.
he carefully knelt down and shook you slightly as you woke up again with a jump.
you cough. "jesus, peter. you scared the shit out of me." you shift your arms behind you to prop yourself up, as he tucks a piece of your hair that fell back behind your ear.
"sorry," he laughs. "i just got really worried. I came as soon as I could. are you alright? why weren't you at school? or work- MJ said you didn't come."
his smile turns into a concerned perplexed look.
"uh", you sit up and rub your eye, coughing.
he noticed you sweating, and your puffy red eyes and a nose rubbed red.
"are you feeling okay?" his eyes and face look soft for you as his lip pouted a little.
he comes closer to you, kneeling down as he rests his hand on your forehead gently. you press your lips together and sniffle.
"pete, im fine."
"but- you're burning up!" he adds, as you look away from him.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? i could've taken school off or-"
"peter." you look up.
"no." you croak, "i would never let you do that."
He puffs his cheeks and breathes out as he sits with you in your bed. You look in your boyfriends eyes as he turns his head to examine you.
"you don't look well, sweets." he frowns as he kisses the top of your forehead.
"i know", you say as you sniffle and your face starts to tickle a little.
he hands you a tissue as you sneeze in your sleeves. "bless you." he rests his tongue to the side of his mouth.
spidey senses.
"you okay?" he looks at you.
"mhm", you purse your lips.
you blow your nose as he looks at your face again.
"you gonna let me take care of you?" he holds his breath in worry.
you shake your head. "no."
he frowns again. "but you're sick! you're my girlfriend I can't just leave you here." He seems stressed, folding his his hands on your arms.
you cough and add, "i don't want you to get sick. plus, you have patrol tonight."
he shakes his head. "no way, im staying."
"No." you look in his eyes.
"Yes." he nods.
"No, peter."
"Yes, y/n." he crosses his arms.
you sigh.
"im staying right here." He says determinedly as he wraps his arms around you from behind and rests his chin on your shoulder. worry chilled up his spine for you.
"okay," you give up. "its cold anyway." you couldn't resist him. you didn't want him to patrol in the this insane cold weather anyways.
you pull a sweatshirt over your head.
"movie?" we whispers. "i'll get you snacks." he rubs your back softly.
you sweat a little and try to swallow.
you smile a little, "okay."
coughing, he rubs your arm. "are you okay?" he looks at you worriedly.
"im fine, my body just hurts."
he pulls you in a hug before kissing your head and leaving the room to go to the kitchen.
he gets back almost instantly with a bag of candy and popcorn, setting it on the bed and a mug of hot tea for your throat on the bedside table.
"can i get you anything else?" he looked sad.
your heart warmed and hurt at the same time.
"no, im okay."
he places a bowl of soup down next to the mug as you lean over to take it and sip it gently.
he lays in your bed as you open your laptop to the same crime documentary.
"again?" he groans, shifting his neck up against the pillow as he scrunches his face, looking at the ceiling.
as you giggle he looks up to see your smile which made his stomach hurt.
"yes, again." you try to hold back your lips from curling into a laugh.
he sighs and clicks the play button on your computer.
you rest your head on his chest, snuggling into him as he lays his arm around you, intertwining your hand into his.
"love you." he whispers in your hair softly, tucking a kiss to the back of your head.

Chapter 4: Via the Window
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Pairing: TASM!Peter Parker x Reader
Warnings: Eludes to voyeurism kink but nothing explicit.
Summary: It's time you thank Spider-Man properly...
A/N: I hope you enjoy the update! Hoping to get these out more frequently!
Word Count: 2,392
‘If I shut my blinds you won’t know where to come get your thank you.’
‘Thank me how’?
‘Come by Monday night and find out?’
‘I will swing by then’
Your Sunday has been spent in two ways. One you had taken the time to get ready for your first week of school. Write out your schedule and figure out what buildings your classes would be in. Best to prepare for your first day to eliminate any surprises that could occur. Two, and far more nerve-wracking; you kept talking with Spider-Man through notes via your window. At the time leaving notes and checking every few hours for a new message from your pen pal was an exciting experience. It was a thrill to get a new message when you weren't even able to catch a glimpse of him! How could he even be that sneaky?
Well now it’s Monday and you're having to reflect on your messages…
You said you wanted to thank him, but now that it's Monday you find yourself playing with the last note he left you. You're still trying to wrack your brain for ideas, but you can’t sit and stir forever. You have a big day ahead! As you're getting ready to leave for school you're double, triple checking that you have your things and that you look decent. Going from the living room to your bedroom, back to the living room to the bathroom like a madman. Once you scramble into the kitchen to make a bottle of water, it clicks. Turning towards your admittedly out-of-date oven the brilliant idea hits, cookies!
Who doesn’t like cookies? Maybe it's a bit old-fashioned or maybe he doesn’t like sweets, but it's the thought that counts right? Just a nice thankful gesture right? Well, there are other thankful gestures you could do for him…But you quickly shake away the thought, you don’t even really know him best not to cross any boundaries; not yet at least.
Getting your mind off of…activities you check your phone and see that you need to leave, don’t want to risk being late on your first day. Doing one last run you check yourself and your things. Before you exit your apartment you find yourself going to your window on pure impose, checking it one last time before you leave. A part of you wishes you would see him swinging by like he's checking on you but you know you won’t catch him.
Walking out of your apartment you look over to Peter's apartment. You haven’t seen him since your moment together in the laundry room. Admittedly you take your time locking your door for the off chance Peter would be leaving his apartment at the same time as you. Though you quickly come to find that your day is not going to start with seeing a brave hero or your annoyingly cute neighbor, that's not going to be a damper on your day. Walking to school making sure to stay out of the bike lane you open your phone and start looking up cookie recipes.
Tumblr media
As expected the first day of classes was nothing more than a lot of info dumping about the class and all the materials needed to be successful in the class. Yes, it is easy to just sit and listen but that doesn’t mean it's any less tiring to have to go through. Taking a stretch you feel your muscles stretch and hear your bones softly popping. Just have to go to the store then you can get your little thank you gift for spidy going. The thought of seeing him leaves a giddy feeling to swell in your stomach. But that is soon interrupted when you see a familiar face walking past.
Well, well if it isn't your odd neighbor, of course he didn’t mention you two go to the same university, typical…
“Peter!”, you call out
In an instant, he's stopping and turning to meet your eyes with a somewhat surprised look on his face, though there is a slight hint of a smile on the corners of his lips. You quickly approach him making your way past the swarm of other exhausted college students.
“You know this is starting to get a bit frequent, first the elevator, then the laundry room, now here. Are you following me?” He teases with an annoyingly adorable smile.
“Yeah, if I’m going to stalk anyone it would be a celebrity, not my random neighbor.”
“You would stalk someone? Bad girl…”
The teasing nickname sends a rush over your spine but you must resist, he's insufferable…and adorable…dammit.
Ignoring the comment you kept the conversation moving, “You know most people mention if they go to the same school as someone else they know.”
He shrugs, “True, but that kills the fun of you having to figure it out.”
“Oh, so fun Pete”
“You're welcome. Are you done for the day?”
“Yeah, I was heading home, well going to go to the store then home.”
Peter smiles as he adjusts his backpack, “I was also heading home, you want some company for the trip?” - Well isn't this a friendly change?
“Sure.”
Tumblr media
Now you have eggs and sugar, but chocolate chips, flour, brown sugar, and vanilla extract you need to buy. Just to find them is the issue, this store Peter took you to is different from the one you have started to get accustomed to. Peters runs off to grab something, leaving you to wander down the aisles by yourself, so much for his company...
As you browse down the aisle something catches your eye and it's staring in your direction. Two men seem to be whispering and glancing in your direction. You turn to see if they are looking behind you but nothing seems to be odd enough to catch any attention. Facing them again you see they have slid closer and you're starting to feel nervous that it may be you that is catching their attention, but why?
Is there something on your face? Are they staring at your basket? Are you doing something wrong? You're starting to become uneasy as you do your best to just ignore them. They are whispering amongst themselves and you just keep your eyes forward, just ignore them, and let them walk past you.
As the men start to walk in your direction a sudden warmth then wraps around you for a second you're frightened but as you look to see who has their arm wrapped around you you see Peter's striking profile.
“There you are, did you find all the ingredients?”
You look at him confused and he just winks before holding you tighter, sliding his hands to hold you in a hug as his chin rests on your shoulder. The feeling sends a rush down your spine. It's all so quick and confusing, why is he holding you? Did he see you were nervous? Turning you see Peter staring at the two men who had been approaching you up. But now seeing that Peter is with you they quickly scurry away.
Once they are gone Peter's warmth leaves you and there is a zipping of your bag and things start to click.
With a smirk, Peter ruffles your hair and you glare at him.
“You need to pay attention before you get pickpocketed.”
Swatting away his hands he smiles before grabbing your basket and heading towards the register. You bite back a smile and take a second to fix your hair before following him.
Tumblr media
“You know I could have carried my bags”
“No, no, it's fine. If my aunt May found out I walked home with someone without helping with the groceries I might just get disowned.”
“Oh? Is that where you learned to be so chivalrous?” you say mockingly as you unlock your door.
After a little effort with the old lock, you get the door open and gesture for Peter to step in. As he steps inside and you see him looking around you realize he's the first guest you have had in your apartment. Taking the groceries from him you start putting away things you don’t need and taking out the things you do.
“You keep staring around at the place, are you not impressed by my decorating skills?”
“Actually smarty pants, I am impressed, might need you to come over and help me with my place. You even managed to get the mildew smell out.”
You smile then turn on your oven with a turn to the old dial, “I charge by the hour and am very bossy. I will warn you”
Peter's eyes flash with mischief, “I wouldn't mind that…”
Folding your arms over your chest you look at him confused, is he flirting? Peter's confidence starts to falter as he rubs the back of his neck trying to ignore the budding tension in the small kitchen. Looking at your counter he sees all the ingredients out.
“Making something?” -smooth change the subject
“I am, just some cookies for a…Friend?” that is technically what you are doing…but can you call Spider-man a friend? You two are friendly but friends? Before you can get wrapped up in thought Peter is speaking up.
“Friend? Judging from how you say it, I assume you two are very close.”
Start to take out your measuring cups and recipe. You roll your eyes at him, “He's a new friend, well acquaintance…”
Peter eyes your hands as you start to place everything down. His eyes on you are starting to make you slightly nervous…but in a good way…where it feels like a rush, “I'm an acquaintance and neighbor.”
“Well, he helped me with something.”
“Um, I carried your groceries and took care of a spider for you.”
“I thought you were carrying my groceries so you wouldn't be disowned, and if I recall you called me dramatic about the spider.”
Peter thinks for a moment before snapping his fingers, “Playful banter between friends.”
Wow, he wants cookies. Letting out a sigh you look at his smirking face trying not to smile. “Do you like chocolate chip?”
“That's my favorite.” -of course it is…
Peter then gives you one more smile before grabbing his bag to leave. “Well, I will leave you to it. Thank you.”
“Oh get cookies then leave?”
“I have a deadline, unfortunately, those spider-man pictures won’t edit themselves”
The mention of the hero's name causes you to perk up, as Peter is heading towards the door you muster up the courage to ask him about it. “Do you think maybe I could see some of your pictures sometime?”
Peter adjusted his bag on his shoulder opening the door, “Bring the cookies and you can look through all my photos. Later.”
Tumblr media
Carefully you tie a neat blue bow on the bag to make sure it stays closed. Finally, you got the cookies done and to your credit, they are probably the best cookies you have ever made. Thank you internet for all the baking tips!
Looking out the window you see it is very late and it's time to get ready for bed after all your hard work. Stepping into your room you go to shut the curtains so you can get changed, but as you go to shut the curtains you have a stray thought…what if he's watching out there…swallowing your dry throat you keep the curtain open and turn your back to your window. He said he would be by later… it's later…
With trembling hands, you lift your shirt over your head dropping it to the floor as you shake your hair out.
Is he out there…
Sliding your hands down your body you start undoing your pants slowly, your body feels hot and you can feel your face flushing to a bright red as you strip down to your underwear, closing your eyes you go to slide down your panties.
The thought of his gloved hands roaming across your skin, the feeling of his weight and warmth pushed against you, stomach tying into knots and with a deep breath you open your eyes looking over your shoulder, and you see…
Nothing…
Whipping your hand down your face you quickly grab your pajamas and put them on. What were you doing stripping like he would be watching…Ugh, that is so embarrassing! You don’t know him and here you are getting horny like a fangirl, get a grip on yourself! You need to start meeting more people so you stop fantasizing about superheroes… maybe Peter has friends…or maybe Peter…
No! Not crossing that line, he's the only person you know in this city you can’t go mucking that up! No way! Off limits!
Walking to the kitchen you look at the two bags of cookies, Peters you will drop off tomorrow. A smile stretches to your lips, you two have become something akin to friends. It's a relief to have him not hate your guts still snarky though…but funny. Maybe you will run into him at school again…
Turning to the other back you feel your heart race increase, Spidys cookies… You hope that he enjoys these. There is the chance he might find this as a lame gift, you can only imagine what kinds of gifts he receives after saving people. Have others made him treats? Giving him money? Presents? Something else…would he want that…You swallow your dry throat and quickly write a note attaching it to the bag to keep your mind busy.
Do spiders enjoy sweets? - you include a doodle of a spider seemingly eating a cookie.
Hopefully, he likes them and isn’t disappointed by the thank you.
Walking over and opening the window there is a slight breeze that sends a chill through you. You wish you could leave the window open tonight to enjoy the breeze but you know better. Placing the bag of treats on the window seal you adjust the note and the bow so they look perfectly placed. Once set you look out into the glimmering lights of the city taking in the breeze, the sights, the noises, but that's when you hear a clearing of a throat. Looking up you see that iconic mask, body clinging to the wall as he looks down at you.
“You have a thank you for me?” his voice coos
You forget all about your cookies…

heyyy. I saw you saying you would write for tasm peter and because it’s officially autumn I would love to request him giving reader his sweater and loving on her idk maybe after their second or third date or establish relationship, what ever you like better<3 :))
Hi! Sorry I didn’t get to this sooner, this past month has been hectic for me. I hope u like!! <3
The rollercoaster in front of you swishes past quickly, blowing cold air towards you and Peter. He flinches, shaking with the chills that raise on his covered arms. He takes a moment to look at you. Your arms are not covered. It’s early October, chilly in the morning and less so during the day, you hadn’t thought the need for a jacket.
“Are you cold?” He asks suddenly.
You startle. “What?”
“You’re shivering,” He laughs, and then frowning. “babe.”
“I’m fine.”
“No you’re not.” He drags, though there’s a small smile on his face.
“I’m serious!” You laugh. “I’m good!”
You share a look, pointed and faux serious. He tugs at his sweater gently raising his eyebrows in question. You shake your head no and he pulls it up anyways, dragging along the nice fabric of his tee shirt. His stomach shows slightly, just long enough for you to catch a sliver of skin, and the wind to nip it meanly. He tugs it over his head roughly, messing up his hair. It’s not like he needed it, his spider senses regulating his body like a heat lamp, but he has the decency to shiver a little when you look his way.
The sweater is thick, and nice. Peter got it from a gift shop a few years ago, so not of the highest quality, but the graphic pattern of yarn makes you smile anyways. It’s warm like a hug, engulfing you thickly as he pulls it over your head.
“Better?” He asks.
You smile, fiddling with the sleeve. You’re definitely still cold, the warmth of his sweater failing to reach your legs, but still. You have the decency to play warm. “Yeah.”
“I knew it!” He pulls you into him, wrapping his arm around your back so he can rub some friction into your arm. “You don’t have to suffer.” He kisses your temple. “‘Specially not in silence.”
You and him have shared 1, 2, maybe three kisses, but this one feels more intimate, more personal. It’s not on the lips, sure, but it tingles as his lips leave your skin. Pulling back, his eye rake over you.
“Sorry.” You murmur.
“Don’t be sorry,” His eyes scrunch as he looks back up up to your eyes. “What’re you sorry for silly?”
You pause, settling with a shrug. You don’t really know.
“See.” He breathes through his nose. “And it’s not like I wouldn’t kill to see this.”
“You don’t have to kill to see me.”
“I would.”
“That’s silly.”
“I don’t think it is.”
You breathe out heavily, fighting a shy smile. You’re way past the shy phase, but still. Sometimes it peeks through.
“Peter would kill to see me.”
“He would.”
“In an old Spider-man sweater?”
The smile on his face is an inside joke, something you can’t decipher. “My most favorite sweater.”
“Take a picture.” You laugh.
He reaches for the camera around his neck. “Good idea.”
“No,” You murmur with a smile, reaching for his camera. Your eyes flit to the people around you. “no, stop, I was kidding.”
He pulls away from you. “Let me get a photo.”
“Stop,” you giggle breathlessly and hushed as your hands come up to push his down. “I wasn’t serious.”
“But I was.” He smiles. You scoff, tugging him closer to the moving line.
“I can’t stand couples.” Somebody groans behind you.

It's Supposed to be Fun, Turning 21
Tumblr media
Pairing: Peter Parker x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: Your boyfriend, Peter, doesn't make it to your birthday dinner. So you walk home alone, only to run into the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Warnings: Slight angst & mentions of alcohol
Word count: 1,700
Tumblr media
A very tired Y/n stumbled over the bumpy sidewalk of New York, cursing under her breath whenever she nearly stepped in a puddle. Her purse was crossed along her body and a bottle of wine swung from her hand.
She made her way home quickly and in annoyance, not wanting to be out any longer than she had to. With that in mind, she took a shortcut through an alleyway.
"Ma'am, stop right there!" A voice behind her shouted. She hesitantly turned, about to blow the person off, before she saw the city's masked hero within a few feet's distance.
"Holy shit! Oh, fuck did I do something? If it's the wine— I'm legally allowed to own it! And I have my ID, so please don't arrest me. I'm not even drunk!” a startled Y/n shouted.
"No, no! It’s okay," The vigilante approached her.
"Oh, okay," She said, touching her heart and sighing in relief. "Sorry for getting all jumpy there. It’s been a long day."
"No, you're fine! I didn't mean to scare you. I was just gonna say, you really shouldn't be walking home by yourself. It's not exactly safe, especially at night," He explained through an overly deepened voice.
"I know it's not," Sighed the girl. "My friends tried to get me to walk home with them, but my place isn't that far. And I'm really not in the mood to talk to anyone."
She continued her path, glancing back at him to add a quick, "No offense."
"None taken," He replied through a jog, catching up to her. "Did you just happen to be carrying around a bottle of wine with you, though?" He softly laughed at her antics.
"Uhh, yeah, just tonight." She returned a weak one.
"What's the occasion?" He asked, though he already knew the answer.
"It's my birthday. I'm 21 now and I wanna have my first drink with my boyfriend. He couldn't make it to my party and the restaurant let me bring one home with me."
She smiled sadly, lifting the bottle up so he could see the written For the birthday girl, enjoy! that a waitress had signed in permanent marker.
Peter felt guilty hearing this. Not only because he didn't make it to her birthday, but because she still waited for him. Wanting to share the special moment— despite him having missed it entirely.
"Happy birthday, then." The masked boy spoke, voice cracking as he said it. "I hope you spent it well."
"It was... eh. But thank you."
"Why was it 'eh'?" He asked, holding his breath.
"It's just, I don't know." She shrugged, not wanting to get into it.
She pondered for a moment, then, "I'm not trying to be rude or like, ungrateful, but don't you have actual Spider-Man stuff to do?"
He shook his head, "Making sure you get home safely is just as important as any other mission to me... plus, I wanted to make sure you were okay."
"That's nice, but I wouldn't want you to stop helping someone who actually needs it because of me."
"It's fine," He waved a hand in dismissal. "Don't even worry about it. I was pretty much done for the night anyway."
All she did was nod, not entirely convinced, then he spoke again.
"Sooo.. your birthday," He started.
"Right, yeah. It was fine, I guess."
"How come?"
"You're already walking me home, the last thing I want is for you to be my therapist too." She joked.
"Well, maybe I could help cheer you up... I like to help people. It's what I do."
"My friends already tried.. and failed. What makes you think you can?"
"I'd try my luck," He suggested. "Or we could walk in awkward silence."
She laughed at that, to which he said, "So what's got you down?"
"Okay, I mean.. like I said, my boyfriend didn't show up at the restaurant, soo I kinda spent the whole night staring at the door in case he did."
"Oh." He mumbled. "Sounds like a shitty boyfriend," He whispered, a little more to himself.
"He isn't," She shook her head a few too many times.
"He's naturally late to things, yeah. And he can't always make it to stuff. But when he is there.. His presence makes everything so much better." She said truthfully.
Peter hummed in understanding, his heart feeling heavy at her defending words. Here he was in a Spider-Man suit, meanwhile she wore her best party outfit. Not even cursing at the boy for his absence.
He didn't deserve her, he thought.
"Did he at least call? You know, saying he couldn't make it?"
Silence filled the air momentarily, which was enough of an answer. Still, she said, "He usually does..."
"Yeah?" He swallowed the forming lump in his throat.
"He— he always lets me know if he can't. And he did wish me a Happy Birthday! It's just— he's— I don't know what's going on with him anymore." She gave a teary laugh.
"Sometimes, it just feels like he's gonna break up with me. I feel like he wants to do it, but he's waiting around for the perfect opportunity, y'know?" She quickly wiped her now forming tears. "Sorry, I sound really pathetic."
"What?! No. No... You don't." He paused. "You— you really think he's gonna break up with you?" He dreadfully asked.
"I don't know," She gave a weak shrug. "He's like, distant lately."
"Have you.. Have you tried talking to him about it?"
"I've tried, yeah." She chewed on her lip nervously, thinking of the many instances where he canceled at the last minute when she intended on speaking with him.
"Like just this week, I asked to meet up after his afternoon class because I wanted to know if something was wrong, but..." She trailed off, holding back more tears.
"He canceled," He finished her sentence, wincing at her confirming nod.
"Right, and it's like, what am I doing wrong?" She added helplessly.
"Nothing! You're not doing anything wrong," He said through an interior panic.
"Doesn't feel like it."
They continued walking as Peter thought of the correct words to say. She'd laid her thoughts right there at his feet and he didn't know what the right move was.
He gave a desperate sigh, then proceeded to say, "I don't think he wants to break up with you."
"Seriously? That's what you're gonna tell me? You don't know that—"
"Hear me out... It's just, you know. Maybe he has a lot going on and.." He started, feeling overwhelmed.
"And maybe he hasn't been able to really tell you everything he wants you to know because he's scared. Scared to lose you. Or scared that you're already slipping away from him." He rambled on.
She slowed down her pace, tilting her head at him as a sense of familiarity within his words settled in.
He wasn't faking his tone anymore, and she wasn't as in her head as she was when he first found her.
"But you're not doing anything wrong, okay, Y/n?" He continued, voice breaking as he stepped closer to her. "I can promise you that."
She looked around to make sure the streets were empty before abruptly stopping in her tracks, eyeing him, when it finally clicked for her. She inched closer to him, while her shaky fingers tentatively reached towards the bottom of his mask.
She did so slowly, making sure he had time to stop her if he wanted to.
"Wait," He put his hand over hers. "It's not really.. It's not safe to do that here."
She understood and immediately withdrew her hand, taking a few steps back.
"Do you trust me?" He walked towards her, carefully placing his hands on her hips. With a nod, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Just like that, he aimed at a nearby building and shot a web, swinging with her in his arms. Her body tightly hugged him as they made their way to the rooftop of Peter's old apartment building. The same place they had their first date.
A sloppy "Happy Birthday" was webbed above the projector that was setup, along with blankets on an old couch that they’d made out on several times.. A few of her favorite drinks and snacks placed there as well. She noticed them as he gently put her down.
She once again turned to look at him, but his mask was already off.
"I'm sorry I missed your birthday, Princess."
"Oh, Peter," She frowned and went to cup his face. "Who did this to you?"
"It doesn't matter," He said softly, leaning into her hands.
"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I really wanted to... But I never knew when or how to do it. And tonight, I wanted to be there." His lips trembled.
"You have no idea how much I wanted to be there. But some guy had this really wonderful idea to rob a bank on your day, which caused a lockdown and eventually it led to a car pileup—"
She placed a kiss on his lips, shutting him up while holding onto the back of his neck in order to keep him close.
"I saw the news, Pete." She said once they parted and hugged him tightly, body shaking as she did so.
"Are you crying?" He asked through furrowed brows. "I'm so sorry I upset you, I—"
"I'm not upset with you. You don't have to apologize."
"You're not?"
"I mean, I was upset when I thought you were preparing some 'it's not you, it's me' speech on my birthday. And the thought of that hurts a lot more than knowing you kept this from me."
"I shouldn't have ever made you feel like we were gonna breakup, I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to give you that impression. You have every right to be upset at me for it." He hung his head low in shame.
"Thank you for owning up to it, but it's okay now, love. I'm okay now that you're here," She reassured him. "And I'm really glad you trusted me enough to share this with me."
"Of course I trust you. I had it all planned out.. We were supposed to go to dinner first and then come here. I was gonna explain everything up here, but things just got all messy, as always."
"I just said it's okay," She giggled, tracing the spider on his chest. "Besides, I can't complain when you look this good in your suit."
She smiled at his forming blush and messed up hair, then leaned in to kiss him once again.
"I love you," He whispered against her lips.
"I love you too, Spider-Man."

Don't You Know Better?
Pairing: Peter Parker x innocent!reader
Genre: Angst, Fluff, Happy Ending!
Warnings: Argument, Mention of kidnaping (nobody is kidnapped) emotional breakdown.
Summary: you always try to see the best in people, that often lead you to bad situations and your boyfriend is tired of you not knowing better.
Words: 2.5k!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter was mad, you knew that just by the way he was clenching his jax and furrowing his eyebrows without looking at you. just sitting in his desk chair in pure silence.
Silence you didn't dare to break because you were aware that no explanation you gave would be good enough to calm the anger boiling in his chest.
In your mind the events that lead to this awkward silence in Peter's room was still playing in your head, you went through every little detail before he appeared to save the day but nothing seem sketchy to you about the man you tried to help, so maybe it was just bad luck what didn't really happened or in Peter's words "what he stopped from happening".
________________
(flashback!)
you were cleaning the outside tables of the coffee shop you worked since it was already closing time and all costumers had left, it was just you outside, your coworker was inside cleaning the coffee machine since it had been a really busy day.
winter had already started so you had your jacket and your scarf on because of how cold it was outside.
while you were cleaning the table you heard steps coming from somewhere and before you could even turn around, a person was already touching your shoulder and making you face them.
you jumped slightly on your place you didn't saw him coming and placed a hand on your chest, feeling your heart beating a little fast.
"hi! i'm y/n and I'm sorry but we just closed so we can't serve you" you introduced yourself and quickly explained that you couldn't sell him any coffee for the cold weather.
"oh, i didn't approach because of coffee." the man spoke and took a step back from you to give you more space.
"no? is there anything i cant help you with?" you asked and put your hands in you the pockets of your jacket because the air was cold.
"actually yes, i saw a girl crying two blocks from here and was wondering if you could help me to calm her down" he explained and smiled at you before pointing to the direction you guessed he saw the girl.
"oh! yeah, i could help but i need to finish cleaning her" you explained and turned to face the table you were cleaning but the man turned you towards him again.
"she was crying really hard, i really think she needs help" he looked a bit desperate and worried.
you thought about leaving for 5 minutes to help the girl and then running back and finish cleaning up since you had just two more tables to clean before you could go home.
"uh- okay but we should be quick i have to finish cleaning" you gave in and the man just nodded and started walking towards the direction the girl was.
"so, what's your name?" you walked a bit faster so the both of you were walking side by side.
"uh it's- tyler" he gave you a quick smile.
"nice to meet you, Tyler." you smiled back at him and looked around, this street at night always gave you chills because of the big shadows the buildings would made since there weren't a lot of street lights that worked. It was one of the bad things of living in new York.
"yeah nice to meet you" he answered and also started to look around.
"was she crying hard?" you asked while you searched for tissues in your pocket, if the girl was crying then she would need them to clean her face a bit.
"who?" Tyler looked confused before he quickly spoke again. "oh, yeah she was a mess"
"poor lady, it most have been a rough night for her" the thought of her getting bad news or something bad happening to the lady made you feel bad for her. It must been a rough night and she really could use a little bit of sympathy.
you walked till where you supposed the woman would be there was no one, the restaurant you stopped in front of was closed already, you could see the staff walking and cleaning the place but other than that there was no one else.
"maybe she went home already" you said and started to look around, the woman couldn't have gone away in just 5 minutes.
"maybe we should walk just one more block to make sure she really did go home" tyler spoke, looked behind you and grabbed your arm.
he started to walk a bit faster and you hurried to match his steps but it felt like he was almost running.
you started hearing footsteps behind you and before you could even turned around to check you felt someone grab your arm and pulling you towards them.
it was... spiderman?
"oh! hi spiderman" you said in a friendly tone and a little bit out of breath, you already knew who was behind the mask since it was literally your boyfriend of 3 years. what you weren't so sure about is why he approached you with the spiderman suit on
"hi miss! nice too see you again, who is your friend?" Peter spoke and looked at the man, the eyes on his suit widen and suddenly peter stood up in front of you covering you with his body.
"hey! I also remember you." Peter said and you peek a bit only to see the face of 'tyler' turn pale and he's expression fell into one of concern and fear?
"i think you got the wrong person, but nice too met you spiderman" tyler took a few steps, trying to get away from the situation but Peter didn't let him walk far.
"hey! Why are you scared?" Peter said in a sarcastic tone and started walking towards him with a fast pace.
Tyler didn't answered and just kept walking away, peter catch up fastly and grabbed him by the arm.
"don't walk away, i want to know what were you doing before i got here, was there someone needing help?" Peter spoke again and pulled tyler by the arm.
"he saw a girl crying and we were going to help her" you spoke this time and gave the two of them a kind smile, trying to calm the situation.
"a girl crying huh? wasn't that the same emergency you had the other day?" Peter questioned tyler and you saw how he tighten the hold he had on his arms.
"yeah, right. But i guess the girl left already" tyler answered and tried to get off of Peter's hold.
"next time you should call someone instead of distracting people, im always in the neighborhood" peter finally released him from his grip, tyler rubbed the place on his arms that peter was holding.
"the girl isn't here anymore right? You can go now. nobody is in danger anymore" peter said and took a few steps back to get close to you again.
You saw how Tyler mumbled something before walking away fastly, almost running away. you kept looking at him until he disappeared at the end of the street.
You were about to speak but Peter shushed you up.
"let's go home" peter said sternly and grabbed your wrist before starting to walk away.
________________
(present!)
ok, maybe there were a few things off about the situation but it could have been coincidence or pure bad luck.
it's New York after all, anything and everything happens in the streets, especially at night. If you could help someone in distress you would always do it.
You couldn't help but feel a little frustrated, just like him, you had a passion for helping people in need.
"i'm sorry" you whispered.
Peter's eyes snapped towards you, he was looking at you with anger and frustration. his stare made you feel small and like a prey in the gaze of a predator.
"why are you sorry?" Peter asked.
You didn't know what you were sorry for, the situation didn't felt sketchy so you didn't felt sorry for trying to help. You felt a little sorry for leaving your work without finishing cleaning but that wasn't even on Peter's knowledge so why would you apologize about that.
You had nothing you felt sorry for.
"i don't know" you answered and looked at your hands that were resting on your lap.
"then why are you apologizing?" Peter questioned you again, his tone stern and harsh.
it was like you were 9 years old again and your father was scolding you for doing bad on your math exam.
"because..." you took a deep breath.
"because i didn't think through" you admitted.
and it was true, most of the time if not all the time you always believe what people tell you, you don't understand why anyone would like about certain things to bring you trouble.
"like?" Peter pressed and you weren't sure what he wanted you to say until you thought for a second.
"like... always" you whispered and started chewing on your bottom lip out of shame and guilt.
"like always." Peter repeated and when you looked up you noticed this time his gaze was just stern, you knew his anger hadn't vanished but the fact you owned up to your mistake made peter a little bit more calm.
"i know the guy you were with" peter said and stood up.
he started walking towards you, when he was in front of you he got on his knees to be on your eye level since you were sitting on the bed.
"he isn't a good person, do you want to know what he does?" peter asked and you shook your head.
You didn't want to know, Tyler was a bad person, that was enough information for you. You didn't want the details of his doings.
"he kidnaps girls" peter told you either way. He wanted you to know what the man does, he needed you to realize that could have happened to you this night.
"he does horrible things to them, y/n." you shook your head, not denying what he was saying. You just didn't want to keep listening.
"that would have been your fate if i didn't arrived in time" peter said and placed his hands on your thighs.
"no..." you shook your head and covered you face with your hands.
"yes. you could have ended badly hurt" peter emphasized and started rubbing your thighs softly.
you whimpered in distress and felt how your eyes filled with tears, you now knew that tyler was bad and what he does. You didn't want to imagine him doing does things to you.
"i understand." you whispered and uncovered your face, your face hanging low to hide your face from peter.
"don't you know better?" Peter asked, this time more to himself.
He sometimes couldn't believe how naive you were, how you believed everything and everyone. Just because you don't lie and aren't bad didn't meant everyone else is the same.
peter didn't know how to make you understand that, he wished he could take the part of you that was so naive and give it a reality check so you wouldn't end in bad situations like this.
he stopped this from happening, he has stopped before a lot of bad things from happening, but what would happen if one day he was too late.
You could end up being hurt badly, so many horrible thing could be done to you and he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if that ever happened to you.
He was a super hero and was ready to save you anytime you needed, but couldn't you also try and avoid needing to get saved?
"i do" you answered and rubbed your eyes with the hill of your hands, trying to get rid of the tears in your eyes. you felt like you would lose control at any moment.
"then why do i have to always save you" peter rested his forehead on your lap.
He was stressed, frustrated and even angry at you, but he knew he couldn't be to harsh on you. he would love for you to just understand without needing to be scolded but every time he used the gentlest approach you would never fully understand him.
It was complicated, he needed to be stern but also couldn't be too stern. You were fragile like a porcelain doll, needing the most gentle hands to deal with you because one wrong move could shatter you.
"i just wanna help people" you felt the tears forming again in your eyes, your cheeks felt hot and your clothes were getting uncomfortable.
"then help yourself and stay out of trouble" peter gave you a little kiss on your right thigh before looking up only to find you fighting the urge to breakdown.
he hurriedly stood up and hugged you, you wrapped your arms around his waist and started sobbing your heart out.
Peter's heart broke at the sound of your sobs, usually you would just stay quiet when he scolded you for doing something careless in the hopes of being able to help people.
He never really had you breaking down out of pure guilt or shame because of the situation you had put yourself in.
Peter started humming a sof tune and rocking side by side, trying to calm you down. His his right hand he started playing with your hair while his right hand rubbed your back softly.
he let you let cry with your face pressed against his abdomen, he felt how his shirt got wet because of your tears but didn't care.
You needed to cry all you felt necessary, he wouldn't mind having his shirt wet.
After almost 10 minutes you finally managed you calm down a little, hiccups were leaving your mouth and you were sniffling a little.
"I'm sorry" that was the first thing you said after calming down.
"it's alright" peter said.
"is not, i made a mistake. Im sorry, pete." you continued to apologize.
You felt horrible for what you've done, you always want to help people but it always seem like to end up being the one who needs help.
It was frustrating that you never could tell if someone had good intentions because you always focused on the good things about them.
"i know you're sorry, it's ok" peter reassured you and made you stand up in front of him, he took a hold of your face with his hands.
"everything is ok now, i know you had good intentions but you need to be more cautious and be really sure that someone needs help." Peter smiled at you and leaned down to kiss you.
"ok..." you whispered against his lips before kissing him too.
The kiss was full of emotions, sealing the apologies and making up for the mistakes that occured tonight.
You would learn to be more cautious, to analyze and realize if someone is sketchy. You didn't want to get hurt and let peter feel guilty because of your mistakes.
You would learn and lean your best intentions to animals in need rather tan humans for a while.
Rescuing puppies seem like the safest option for helping someone in need.
you would learn to know better, but for now you would rather kiss your boyfriend and make up for the bad events of tonight.

As soon as the class was dismissed, you quickly made your way to the Coffee Bean– the usual place you and your friends would meet. You turn on your phone, checking if he has replied to your text but to your dismay, he didn't even open your text at all.
Your worries turn to anger, the least he could do is text you why he hasn't been to class for the past few days and stop making everybody worried sick. Silencing didn't make anything better.
Nevertheless, you put your phone back in your pocket and walk toward the Coffee Bean that is not so far away from your university.
“Jake!” you exclaim happily, it’s been a while since you met him in Coffee Bean. Jake is one of your closest friends at the university, he’s the one who reached out to you after seeing you sitting alone during orientation week.
You are so thankful for the brunette’s extrovert side for making a small group of friends including him, you, Winter, and Jay.
Speaking of Jay, he is the one who is much closer to you than Winter and Jake due to both of you attending class together in the business administration course meanwhile Jake and Winter attend Biochemistry.
At first, everything went on smoothly and the four of you never missed hanging out at Coffee Bean as soon as your class ended or hanging out at night just to kill time. However, the hanging out spot is starting to get unfamiliar with the faces of the four of you since each one of you is occupied by the piles of assignments.
You give Jake a quick hug before ordering your choice of drink from the counter. As the two of you settle down, choose the table next to the picture window of the cafe, wanting to see the view of New York City. Usually, Jake must be in the lab for his experiments or working part-time as a photographer at The Daily Bugle, there’s no in between.
Hence, that’s the reason why you are beamed seeing Jake in the cafe.
“Where’s Jay?” he asked, seeing you come in alone.
You sigh.
That’s the thing that made you restless and angry for the past few weeks. You take a sip of your drink before leaning to the back of the chair.
“That bad, huh ?” he chuckles
“He has been absent for two weeks now Jake! He doesn't tell me anything at all, not even a single call or text. Nothing, Jake. It's like he's dead and I think if there's an award for the most anxious girl for her best friend it would be me as the winner”
“He still assigned all of his work on time, and that's what makes me angry! He could tell us what's been going on instead of abandoning us like this…” you added.
Jay is the cheerful and kindest friend you ever had aside from Winter and Jake. He always cracks the dumbest and lamest joke you ever heard and honestly, it’s one of his charms and that's why you and him click so well.
But for the past few months, after the death of his dad, his entire demeanor changed 100%. He started to skip classes, hanging out and didn't even show up in the group chat. The three of you understand he needs time to heal and Jake is the one who always checks up on him from time to time but due to his busy life, he can't go to Jay’s house for a moment until to this day.
No one ever got to see Jay’s cheerful personality anymore. You miss that, you want to help but he keeps avoiding everyone which makes it difficult for you.
Jake clicks his tongue after hearing your story. Honestly, on Jake’s side, he feels awful because due to his busy life, he can't be there for Jay. He knows how hard it is to lose someone you love. For him, losing his Uncle Ben was mournful for him.
“I'll check up on him on the way home… I think he’s not fully healed yet” Jake assured you
“Can I go with you?” you asked, eyes filled with hope. You never step inside Jay’s house since you have feelings that his father disliked you and Winter so it's always Jake who is always going to Jay’s house.
Jake nods his head
“Let’s just hope he open the door for us” the brunette jokes
As you and Jake arrive at Osborn’s penthouse, your mouth turns into an O seeing how big his house is. You are aware Jay is a billionaire son, but still you didn't expect his house would be this big.
Before the two of you can even knock on his penthouse door, Jake freezes on the spot for a few moments, his face frowning for a second, making you worried.
“You okay, Jake?” you asked genuinely. You noticed this behavior of Jake since you knew him but never got a chance to talk to him about it since he is rarely around.
“Uh.. y-yeah… you know what, I forgot something in the lab! You go first, I will come back later” he trailed off.
He didn't give you a chance to talk or even react to his weird behavior and quickly ran off from Osborn’s penthouse.
Once again you sigh, now you’re alone in front of this huge penthouse. You licks your dry lips, suddenly feel nervous, nonetheless you press on the bell. It didn't take more than 5 seconds before the wooden door opened.
“Yes?”
“I’m Y/N! One of Jay’s friend–”
“Jay doesn't want to see anyone” the old grumpy woman spat to you, with annoyance in her tone.
Honestly you didn't predict that the answer would be no and it makes the situation more awkward with you standing like a figure in front the door while the old lady looking at you with obvious frown plastered on her face.
Besides it would be awkward to walk back to campus, you can't let the thought of Jake coming back from whatever business he is doing and find out you didn't even visit Jay although you’re the one who insists on coming.
It would be the top 3 embarrassing moments for you.
“Please! I’m Jay’s friend!” you begs
“He made it clear to everyone, he doesn't want to see anybody, miss”
“Uh, can you just let me in? If he doesn't want to see me, then he can tell it to my face”
Your adamant makes the old lady sigh in annoyance nonetheless, she opens the door widely, giving you space to enter the huge penthouse.
“I trust you to not touch anything in this house” she warned and led you to Jay’s room.
You nodded although the maid didn’t see it, your way to Jay’s room feels forever due to many corners you take, this penthouse feels like a maze for you. Your eyes are locked on the portrait frames that are hanging on the wall. The more steps you take the more evolution you see in those portraits.
From the family portrait to Jay’s solo portrait hanging on the wall alone. His face gloomy, eyes slightly swollen from crying you assume, it must be tough for him. On top of that, you also noticed how Jay already lost his smile in the portrait since his mother is out of the picture, you didn't want to profile anything but yet you can't help but to presume that Jay's relationship with his father did not click well.
Moreover, before his father’s death he rarely went home even it’s holiday season.
“We’re here. Knock before you enter, if you get yelled at, don’t blame me.. I already informed you” she said and quickly left the scene like she doesn't want to be there at all.
You take a deep breath before knocking on his door twice.
No answer.
Once again you knock, a lot louder than the first one.
“Jay, it’s me… Y/N”
One, two, three, four, five
It took him five seconds to get to the door, you don't know why you counted it in your brain but you blame it on the nervousness that filled you.
The door opened, showing Jay with an obvious dark circle underneath his eyes, his face pale and his veins looking green? It’s so obvious since his skin is fair. To say that your reaction is shock would be an understatement, you are horrified by his conditions now, it looks way too different from the old Jay.
“Oh my, Jay– what happened to you? God, your maids didn't do anything?” suddenly feels anger towards the old lady earlier, is she not aware of the physical change in Jay?
Jay shuts his eyes tightly for a second before pulling you into his big room, his room is clean and you could smell the lavender scent coming from automatic air freshener. He gestures to you to sit on his bed before drawing the curtain, letting the sunlight to lighten the dark room.
“Jay..” you called him, you did not like the silence and it's killing you seeing him showing his back towards you and just stare at the window like a mannequin.
“I’m dying, Y/N” he says after a while.
You quickly get off from his bed and pull his grabbed biceps to make him face you.
“What are you talking about, Jay?” your eyes for sure are already forming tears, one blink away from it to fall. Jay shooks his head seeing your watery eyes, he’s mouthing no for several times before pulling you into a hug, a long hug.
It's the first time both of you share this kind of physical connection yet it feels natural, you feel comfortable being wrapped around Jay’s arms and you hope he feels the same too– at least you can comfort him a little.
“Don’t cry please, Y/N” he whispered while kissing the top of your head.
You slowly loosen around his arms and take a look at his pale face. Oh god, how you love to see his face on daily basis– his happy face, free from worry and stress. You can't afford to see his condition right now, it feels like his soul slowly disappears.
“It must be some way…”
“I’m currently searching for the way, but for now I’m dying”
“Is that why you didn’t come to class?” His nods make you mutters oh god under your breath.
“Jay, you know you’re not alone, right? You have me, Jake and Winter! We’re your friends, and we’re–”
“I only need you right now, Y/N” he cuts off your nagging and it makes you freeze.
Need you?
“I like you, like a lot. I like you more than friends…I wanna spend my last moment with you”
You slowly push him away, take a moment to process what he just said. The sudden confession he just made didn't make you flutter at all but more to confusion and mixed feelings. This is not what you imagined how someone would propose to you to be their girlfriend.
“Jay, what the hell? You can't put me in the position like this, if I reject you and then you die I would literally be in guilt forever in my life! This is unfair”
“Are you rejecting me right now?” he asked
“What, no! Of course no, if you asked me properly I wouldn't say no because I also like you a lot!” you answer in a hectic way, too much for your brain to process.
Jay chuckles seeing your panic state and hugs you to calm you down. He swings your body to left and right to soothe you. It’s a bummer that he got balls to confess to you when he has incurable disease and is in the state of waiting for death. Nevertheless he dont regret for a bit because instead of dying alone like his father, he at least has you– you are the only one who can make his short time precious as it ever be.
He still vividly remember the first time Jake introduced you to him and Winter, at that time he felt his heart stop for a second, you are attractive in his eyes, your laugh whenever Jake making science joke is the most wonderful sound he had ever listened to, he thought he was going crazy on how he quickly attracted to you. He never really understands the concept of love. He can’t barely remember how to be loved or to be cared for by someone, hence it’s hard for him to show affection to others. Even his father didn't treat him as his son.
It took him some time to realize it was love at first sight– he keeps falling for you every single day, every single hour you spend with him.
“I don't know how to confess since I have never had an interest in someone. You’re the first one and it’s sucks that I'm dying”
“We’re gonna make sure to find the cure, there’s no way your father company didn't do any research” you said
“I’m gonna go to the company tomorrow, my father said he's working on something before he died so I'm just gonna check on it… hopefully something positive” he said
You close your eyes and rest your head on Jay’s chest finding it comfortable, hoping for a miracle to happen.
“He what?!”
You nod your head and let out a small sigh, seeing Jake and Winter’s shock face doesn't surprise you since you are almost facing with a grim reaper after you heard the shocking news coming out from Jay.
“How is that possible?”
“He said, it’s a genetic disease, if they didn't treat it fast, he could ended up like his father”
While you and Winter are talking to each other about Jay’s condition, the both of you didn't realize Jake fell into deep silence. He didn't say a word after you opened up about Jay’s condition. You only took a glance at him and could sense how hard it must be for him to learn about Jay’s condition in this way, after all he and Jay have already been friends since high school.
Jake didn't say anything and just burst out of the cafe. You and Winter can only look at him leaving, after all both of you didn't have any place to stop his action.
“You’re looking at the world’s first human-spider hybrid.”
“The hope is to extract the venom from their glands and turn that into a cure. An agent that heals diseased cells.”
“And if I can be cured, imagine what this could do for other diseases like Alzhemier and even cancer”
Jay immediately pauses the unreleased video of his father and Jake’s predictions based on their experiment towards the human-spider hybrid.
“They never made it to human trials. It's 14 years of research, and nothing to show for it.” Jay muttered.
Jake worriedly took a look at his best friend. What you said about the condition is true, Jake clearly could see the green vein around his neck and his under eyes getting darker than the last time he saw him.
Jake wants to visit him at first but after a quick catch up, Jay asks him to follow him to his father’s secret lab and he made Jake watching the unreleased video with him together, Jake’s father already died when he was a child thus it’s confirmed that this video already been in Oscorp’s company for a long time and Jake also sure that there’s must be a reason this video never released to public view.
Nevertheless, he is overwrought by what would happen after this.
“Except maybe this” Jay gets up to get the newspaper from the cabinet in front of the projector and slams it on the desk.
The Daily Bugle
Jake's face turns serious, he could sense where this conversation is gonna end up.
“Spiderman” Jay utters.
“What about him?” Jake asked, his voice came out a little shaky but went unnoticed by Jay.
“He was bitten by one of those things, and it worked. I don't know how and I don't know why, but he can do everything else a spider can, including self-heal. I need to find him, I need his blood.”
Jay’s statement makes Jake look at him with mixed feelings. Scared, anxious, worried and he can’t even look at his best friend's face right now.
“You need… Spiderman’s blood?”
Jay nods his head, his deadly eyes looking straight to Jake’s making his knees wobble resulting in him sitting on the chair.
“It’ll save my life”
“It may not, Jay. It may not be that simple. You saw what happened to Curt Connors, right?”
Jay let out a big sigh and rubbed his face using both of his palms. Of course he knew Dr. Curt Connors, that man was one of scientists in his father’s company. He didn't exactly know why his father fired him but he knows that Dr. Connors turns into a lizard by using his failed experimental serum.
“Connor was weak, this is me Jake” Jay muttered, feeling annoyed by Jake that seems not on his side.
Jake gulped, he’s the one who fought with Dr Connors, he knows the serum was no good for any human being besides Jake only survived the spider’s bite only because of his father’s DNA or else he’s gonna end up like Dr. Connors too or maybe worse.
Jake feels bad towards Jay, he wants to help him so badly, he could give him his blood as much as he wants to recover but he knows it will go haywire. His blood is poisonous to him, he didn't come from his father’s bloodline and surely his blood is gonna make him die slowly or instantly.
“I don't think you can just set up a van and have him donate. I mean I'm sure he’s sensitive about people shoving needles and–” Jake tries to hide his puzzled emotion by cracking a joke but to his dismay Jay seems like have no time for a joke by looking at his serious face.
“Ah he's sensitive, okay..” Jay chuckle dryly
“Well then maybe you could just sensitively tell me where he is, and I will go ask him myself!” he added
“What?”
“You took his picture”
“So?”
“You know him”
Jake is speechless, he could hear Jay’s quavering voice and see how desperate Jay’s eyes are right now.
“Jay, I took pictures from a long way. I used a long lens. I don’t know him” Jake trailed off, at this point he was also desperate; he was hoping for Jay to throw away all the dumb ideas that were already planted in his mind.
“I put together what you said at Coffee Beans.”
“About how he give people hopes”
“You know, that spider guy is so weird” Jay speaks up, looking at Jake who’s currently reading some science comic book
“What do you mean?” he asked, a little offended not gonna lie
“He wears spandex to save the kitten from the tree” Jay snickered. It’s not like he holds grudges to the spider guy but he dont take him seriously just like others or more precisely, like J.Jonah Jameson.
“Well, I kinda like to think he gives people hope…”
“For what?”
“Maybe eventually everything’s gonna be alright”
Jay chuckles hearing Jake’s answer, he didn't know that his best friend is one of Spiderman’s fans
“Okay dude, let's not get serious now shall we” he teased and continued to read the science comic book that Jake brought to the cafe.
Jake mentally cursed himself, that’s not what he meant at all! Jay is so desperate to the point everything is a clear path with no hazard to him.
“Come on, just say yes…” Jay begged, he doesn't have much time and seeing Jake seems hesitant making him slowly lose his patience.
Jake takes a look at Jay for a mere second before getting up and taking his backpack– leaving the secret lab and his response to Jay’s wish only making the sick guy lose his patience immediately.
“Don't turn your back on me!” Jay yelled, he grabbed Jake’s shoulder harshly to face him. His brows furrowed and jaw tense. He is dying and can’t Jake see how desperate he is right now?
“I don't wanna end up like my father, Jake please…” he pleaded, Jay lowered his face and in his mind, mixing spiderman blood with his father’s antidote is the only way to survive, to spend forever, together with you.
“I'm gonna try and find Spiderman” Jake said after a moment of silence and left Jay alone in the lab.
“You know, we can have a date inside your penthouse instead of at this cafe, I don’t mind it” you said, your left hand softly rubbing Jay’s slightly rough hand.
Jay gives you a small smile and uses the other hand of his to softly rub your hand.
“Nah, don’t treat me like a sick person Y/N… Let me bring you to a normal date”
“But Jay, it’s hot outside and you wearing long sleeve and wrapped scarf around your neck tortured me”
Since Jay is a public figure, many journalists follow him everywhere he goes for a picture or some useless news just to filled on the newspaper’s cover to attract the public and that's why you are worried about him, the journalists for sure will make up some fake news after seeing him dressing like it's cold outside even though it’s summer.
“Hey, nothing to worry about, okay? If I’m not feeling good, I'm gonna inform you but right now I'm feeling relaxed for a while because I’m having a slice of cake with my wonderful girlfriend” he bragged while looking at you mischievously.
You let out a small laugh hearing his words and take a spoonful of the cake you bought earlier at the cafe. You trust Jay but you don't hesitate to call his bodyguard if things go south.
“Did you see Jake?” you asked, suddenly remember the other day that Jake burst out from the cafe to meet Jay.
“Did he tell you anything?” Jay asked
You shook your head while taking another spoonful of cake to your mouth
“I don’t see him since the day we met at Coffee Bean”
Seeing Jay didn’t respond to your statement making you frown, usually he would tell you everything about what he discussed with Jake but right now it seems off, he didnt wanna talk about it at all.
“Hey, has anything happened between you and Jake?” you asked, you worried if these two best friends caught in argument since Jay is a bit sensitive lately.
“Nothing you have to worry about, I promise”
His words don't convince you at all, but you respect his decision at the moment. Maybe if he’s ready to tell everything, he will..
It’s been a week. A week had passed since Jay asked Jake for Spiderman to see him, but to his dismay, the guy in red and blue spandex didn't come to meet him at all. He was more furious rather than disappointed in Jake. His green veins became obvious, his skin became rough and green patches started growing on his scalp, face, hands, and everywhere on his body and his body getting weaker and weaker everyday. He needs the Spiderman’s blood to survive but since Jake was too selfish to help him, he decided to do everything by himself.
There’s no way he's gonna die, he is not gonna leave you this quickly.
Thus, Jay makes his way to his father’s lab, ignoring all of his maids saying that he should be in bed to rest. He is not gonna rest until he gets what he wants– the cure.
Jay steps into the cold lab and locks in from the inside in case anyone in the house is following him. With energy left in his body, he grabs the lab coat and everything he needs from the shelves to enhance his father’s old formula. If the formula that his father uses fails, then he is going to depend on his science understanding to make improvements to the formula.
“Good evening, New York. This is Betty Brant reporting live from Central Park. In an extraordinary event that unfolded earlier today, our very own friendly neighborhood Spider-Man made headlines once again.”
As it cut to the scene, Jay could see the spider guy swinging from building to building and quickly climb onto the tree to save the poor cat.
“Behind me are the charred remains of what was once a towering tree, a familiar sight to many park-goers. Earlier today, this tree was ablaze, and trapped within its branches was a terrified feline” the reporter on the scene reported.
"I just saw the flames and heard the poor thing meowing. It was awful. But then, out of nowhere, Spider-Man swings in! May God bless him”
“According to eyewitnesses, Spider-Man arrived just in time–”
Jay throws the remote away, he unconsciously turns on the television as he sees a small television across the lab. He doesn't have any idea why his father put a television in the lab but he is pissed off now.
Nowadays it's all about Spiderman. Everywhere he goes spiderman must be their main topic making him sick. Does the world revolve around spiderman? Jay's hatred towards the super hero increases as he thinks; that the spider guy that got his power from his company and didn’t even wanna help him when he's dying but he can make an effort to save a useless cat?
Well, Spiderman needs to be humble once Jay completes his own brand new improved formula.
“Here’s your favorite pretzel” Jake handed you the hot pretzel, fresh from the oven perhaps. You called him last night to meet him at the park since it’s so hard to meet him unscheduled. The brunette takes a big bite of his pretzels, humming while he chews on it. You can't help but giggle at his undying habits.
“You looks like you didn't eat for a week”
“Yeah fighting with criminals–”
Jake stops chewing and looks at you with a frightened look. Did he just…
“You need to stop playing video games, Jake. You’re like addicted to it”
Jake exhales his breath, awkwardly laughing at your face and takes a bit of his pretzel. Your dumbness saves him from leaking his own biggest secret ever.
“Y..yeah haha”
You take a bite of your pretzel after a while, your eyes locked on the scenery in front of you. The view of the park at night plus the wind successfully makes you calm from thinking about Jay for a while. These past few weeks, after you and Jay ended up together, both of you have been occupied by doing research about Jay’s cure every night to the point you keep late to class.
“Uh, how’s Jay?” he asked
“He’s changing.. And his temper is getting worse, sometimes he acts not like himself” you trailed off. You get caught in an argument with Jay one night when your theory clashes with his theory, it’s a small matter but Jay’s yelled at you as if you’re making a terrible choice which makes you cry but luckily Jay comes back to his senses and keeps apologizing to you the whole night.
“Did you argue with him, Jake?” you asked
Jake nods his head, looking at his shoes. He feels sorry for Jay for not helping him but he can’t. His blood can't help him heal.
“I assume it’s bad, Jay didn't even want to talk about you at all”
“He asked me for a Spiderman’s blood”
“Oh, he once said that Spiderman’s blood was gonna save him…” you remember that time when Jay said Spiderman’s blood could cure him but you didn't say anything to him. His theory of science, making your mind puzzled.
“And you trust him? In a logic mind person kind point of view, not girlfriend’s point of view” Jake asked
“Honestly, I don’t– like there’s must be other way to cure him instead taking that weird guy’s blood”
“I know– wait a minute, you think Spiderman is weird?” Jake frowns, he tilts his head a little.
“If you think about it, yes! Like why does he associate with spiders in the first place?”
“Hey there’s a thing called an accident. Accident happens!”
“Whatever, he’s such a weirdo but what he is doing is good”
“He is nice,” Jake agreed.
“Hehehe”
Sounds of a creature let out a hideous chuckle from the air frighten both of you and Jake. The two of you look up to the air and there’s a green creature in the air riding a glider.
You let out a gasp.
“Monster!”
“Run, Y/N” Jake yelled and grabbed your wrist to run away from the park. His pace is fast, you almost couldn't catch up with him and for a moment you slightly feel that your feet didn't even touch the ground, it feels like he dragged you along.
“Now, go home!” he panted.
“What the hell? Me, alone?” You couldn’t believe what you have heard, Jake is sending you home alone, with this green monster flying in the air?
“Sorry, I need to check on Aunt May!” he nervously swallowed his saliva.
“Okay, I’m following you”
“What, no!”
“What do you mean, no? Jake, we're in danger!”
Jake runs his finger through his hair, he let out a big sigh and dragged you to the street. He can’t casually say that he is Spiderman and needs to save the city, it would be more complicated than how things are going now.
Jake ignored your squealing and he stuck out his hand to the street after he saw a taxi.
“Jake, what are you doing? Let me go!”
“Please send her to Empire State University, thank you!” and with that Jake closes the taxi door leaving you alone in the taxi while he runs off back to the park.
“Jake, you bitch!” you scream at him but are suppressed by the window.
“Oh ho, what did we get here? A green man? We have a hulk and it’s enough, imposter” Jake uttered, he was grateful that he was fast enough to change and the creature didn't harm the citizens yet.
“Spiderman!” the creature bellowed, his voice echoing through the park. Jake raised his brow underneath his mask, the face of the creature seems familiar but his voice is so deep and rough. Jake quickly shot a web to the nearest tree and swung his body towards the creature; he was so close to kick the glider that the creature was riding but failed as the creature swerved on his glider, avoiding Jake’s attack.
“What, green goblin?” Jake muttered, he remembered the glider and all green costume was Green Goblin persona, he fought Norman Osborn five months ago. Does he come back? Is his death news fake?
“I defeated him five months ago after the lizard attacked the city…” he added, if this is Norman Osborn and he can't imagine how Jay’s gonna react to all this
“Well, the generations continue, Spidey Boy…” he growled and took this advantage to glide towards Jake and punch him in the face numerous times.
With their distance so close with each other and with every time his fist landed on Jake’s cheek, he became aware who’s the green goblin in front of him now, it’s not Norman Osborn but his son, Jay.
Jake isn't the type who felt sympathy for all the villains he fought, he despised them. He hates how they all use their power and intelligence for their own benefits. But this time, it was different.
Suddenly he has no strength to fight Jay back since he knows it’s not Jay that is fighting him but it’s the demon inside his body– the parasite that takes control of his body once they knew their host was already weak.
He can’t make Jay’s fate end up like his father.
Jake kicks the Green Goblin on the stomach, making the boy slightly back away from Jake and he webbed his hand to prevent the Green Goblin from punch him, along with this opportunity– Jake kicks the creature off from his glider and was about to make the real Jay conscious of the situation but luck wasn’t on his side when the demon inside Jay have strong power than his web have. He easily ripped off the web and took out his blade from his costume, his eyes full of rage.
“You are not a hero, you can’t even save him” he scowls
But before the Green Goblin can make his move, a loud thwack resonates through the park. The Green Goblin stumbles, caught off guard by the impromptu action.
Jake’s eyes widen seeing Jay fall to the ground while touching his dizzy head and releasing his breath that he didn't know he held. He quickly got up and grabbed your wrist, going a bit further from the creature.
“You!” Jake swore
You give him a side smile, it wasn't your intention to minding in Spiderman’s business but you are worried sick about Jake, he can't even fight ants if his life on stake and seeing his running back to the park make you uneasy and you get off from the taxi on the first traffic light.
Long story short, while looking for Jake you saw Spiderman about to get killed and thanks to the kid who left their baseball bat in the park, you used it as a weapon to hit the green creature.
“Thank you, but NEVER do that again!” Jake warned
“Oh.. okay, but do you see my friend, Jake?” you asked while he dragged you away from the scene
“How on earth do I know Jake?” Jake asked, sometimes he wonders how you would survive in this world if Spiderman didn't exist.
“Uh, if you found a boy wearing a flannel with black backpack, please get him home safely, he can’t fight!” you said
“Okay! Just go home, run, now!” Jake screams and pushes you away as Jay slowly returns to his senses.
The Green Goblin growls, turning his attention to you.
You immediately run after Spiderman yelled at you, you swore you using your 100% your energy to run away from the dangerous spot yet in a seconds you felt your feet not touching the ground and your body float into the air it took you a moment for you to realized that the creature already capture you into his arms.
Your screams were loud and clear but it didn't flinch. He turns you to facing him and his rough hands wrap around your neck and put pressure on it making you gasp for air.
Your eyes are glossy at this point, your mouth wide open for air and your fingers scratch his hands. At this point you can’t focus on your surroundings, your eyes locked on the creature. Something about his eyes seems familliar.
Those eagle-shaped eyes…
“J-Jay?”
Your guess was correct after seeing the creature was taken aback after you called your boyfriend’s name.
“J..Jay it’s m-me” you try your best to speak although it’s hard for you to breathe at this point.
“Shut up!” the Green Goblin scowls. You know Jay didn't even control his own body, so you tried to call his name numerous times until you could see his green pupil slowly turning brown yet the creature didn't give up and took control of Jay’s body back and he is choking you harder than before.
Your mind is hazy and your vision getting blurred, you are one second away from fainting? Dying? You can’t think at this point but you are so sure you’re about to black out.
Jake swung from the lighting pole, his speed and agility allows him to snatch you from the Green Goblin right as you’re about to pass out. He pulls you into his arms and immediately starts to descend back down to the park's grass. As he landed on the ground, he loosened his grip on you, allowing you to catch your breath as he hovered over you protectively.
“Are you alright?” he whispered, his expression one of concern despite his heroic actions.
You slowly nod your head, give yourself a moment to catch your breath.
Yet the Green Goblin didn’t lose, not yet. Not when the demon in him is aware that Spiderman is alive and just pulls a heroic moment and you, the disturber is safe on Spiderman’s hand. Without thinking twice, the furious creature once again wings its way to both Jake and you, he immediately grabs your waist so fast, it feels like a wind passed by.
“No!” Jake yelled as the Green Goblin snatched you away from him and flew off on his glider. As he watched the two of you disappear into the night sky, a wave of worry and fear washed over him. He knew he had to catch up to them quickly but the creature quickly acted and threw a pumpkin bomb towards Jake.
Jake dodged the pumpkin bomb just in time, but the force of the explosion knocked him off balance. He stumbled and fell to the ground, feeling incredibly dizzy and disoriented. He tried to get up, but the world was spinning and he couldn't get his bearings.
Behind him, he heard you yell out his name as Jay took you away, but he couldn't gather enough strength to fight back. All he could do was try to hold onto consciousness as the seconds ticked by. He knew he was running out of time and would have to do something fast before it was too late but he can’t do anything when his vision gets blurred and black in a matter of seconds.
The Green Goblin pushed you off from the glider as soon as both of you landed on his lab, his head felt like it would explode any second, and you stood by the desk lab, watching your boyfriend or other thing grunt in pain.
“J-Jay?”
You see the obvious green veins slowly disappear from his skin and his pupils turned to brown and his skin becoming normal, no more green and yellow patches on it.
“Babe?” you called him, your voice low– still shcoked by the creature that took control of him.
“Y/N…” he panted, his rough voice earlier is gone and it’s replaced by his soft voice.
“Jay, Oh my God” you make your way to him, helping him stand up and settle him down on the chair. You take a look for his pale face for a few second, just to make sure it is the real Jay before you pull him into a comfort hug
“What happened?” he asked, he is drained like a person who overworked themselves for 20 hours per day
“You don’t remember?”
Jay shook his head, he doesn't remember a thing. He lets you hug him for a moment while his eyes scan his lab.
“Wait–” Jay slowly pushes you away and walks towards his lab benches. It is so messy, too many books, paper works, lab’s essentials on the benches. He shut his eyes real tight, trying to recall what happened before he knocked out.
“Baby, I think you should rest…” you urged, honestly you have no idea how to tell him the real thing as he can't remember anything now. But for sure, tomorrow you will ask Jake for help.
“I made it!”
“Hm?”
“Baby, I successfully made the serum!” he exclaims, he turns to you and grabs your shoulder, shaking your body a little due to his excitement.
Seeing your puzzled look making Jay chuckle and kiss your forehead, finding your reaction cute.
“Look at me, there’s no patches left and the hideous green veins are gone! I am fine!” his beams
“Are you sure? We still need to see a doctor…”
“We’re gonna see them tomorrow! Damn, I can’t fucking wait to do all the things with you”
You slowly exhale your breath, Jay needs to know he isn't getting better but worse. There’s something inside him that he isn't aware of yet.
“Babe, you really don’t remember what happened tonight?”
“Yeah, I made the ser–”
“Not that! The part where you turns all green and riding a glider–”
“What are you talking about, Y/N?”
“You’re about to kill Spiderman tonight, and if it's wasn’t me–”
“You’re taking Spiderman’s side now?”
“Huh?”
Jay didn’t reply to you, he touched his head again and his face frowning. Your eyes immediately scan the lab, searching for any weapon if the creature decided to take full control of Jay’s body.
“Uh…” he groans, his fingers turns white on how hard he gripped on the lab benches
“Jay?” you called
“You take Spiderman’s side Y/N…. How dare you?” he gruffs, his eyes looking cold and his jaws tense.
“ I do not take anybody's side! But you’re about to kill someone!” you yelled, your voice come out shaky but goes unnoticed by him
“Oh, fuck it! It’s Spiderman, he deserves to die!” he screamed back
You gasped, this isnt Jay you know.
“There’s something inside you, Jay! He controls everything in you and I don't think you’re healed, the thing just uses you as a host!” you explained but Jay only smirks in response.
“Yeah, I remember, we had a deal… I lend my body for him and in return I will not rot like my damn dad did!”
“Jay…”
He takes a step forward until you can feel his hot breath over you, his palm wrapped around your neck but doesn't put any pressure on it, he leans in– his face is an inch closer to you and his lips lingers on your lips but he doesn't move it. You close your eyes, your body suddenly feels hotter than before and since he didn't move an inch you open your eyes back and see he is staring at your eyes deadly.
“I don’t like how you’re siding with Spiderman, you should let him finish his business. Spiderman should die!”
You didn't utter any words to him, you leaned in to kiss him but he backed away, not giving the things you wanted leave you alone in the lab.
The next morning, the both of you didnt talk to each other but Jay was still stuck by your side since you left the bed. Bathroom, kitchen, living room, just named it. He still lingers around you even though he did not say anything to you yet. And that’s the reason why he tags along with you on your way to Coffee Beans, to meet with others.
“Oh God, Jake!” you immediately pull Jake into a hug but Jay quickly grabs your shoulder, preventing you from hugging the brunette but you ignore his bitch attitude. Jake, who noticed Jay’s fierce eyes looking straight to him could only mutter sorry to his best friend, he did not want to pour oil on the flames.
“Hey, I’m sorry for letting you home alone last night–”
“Wait, alone?” Jay cuts him off
“Dude, look I’m really sorry but–”
“Cut the bullshit Jake! You fucking left her alone at the park?!” Jay snapped, he swiftly pushed you back and face to face with Jay.
All of the attention is on them, some of the customers already take out their phone to record.
“Winter, things are about to get messy isn’t it?” you asked the blonde girl which she replied with a nod.
“Look, I worried about Aunt May–”
“Oh, please! Just say that you want her to die right?! You failed to kill me and now you’re attacking her too?”
“Jay, you knows it’s not true”
“I know damn well it is the truth, Jake! You’re just selfish human being”
Realizing all the attention is one them, Jake’s ears turned slightly red
“Dude, come on…”
“What? You’re about to kill us and you want to discuss it privately?”
Jay let out a big sigh, he felt disgust by Jake ‘innocent’ face. How dare he play victim here? It is so obvious that got the intention to kill you and him.
“You know what” Jay said before he threw his fist to Jake and with his Spidey sense tingling, Jake noticed, out of the corner of his eye, that Jay’s arm had begun to move towards him.Without hesitation, he quickly side-stepped and grabbed Jay’s fist right before it hit him. Jay tried to pull his hand away but Jake, with his superhuman strength, was too strong. He looked at Jay and said calmly,
“You need to calm down, Jay. This is getting of control”
Jay struggled and tried to pull away again, but Jake wouldn't let go. Despite the heated argument, he still cared about Jay and didn't want to see him hurt. Jay let out a grunt of frustration, but he stopped struggling and listened to what Jake had to say. Meanwhile, adrenaline was pumping through Jake’s veins and his spider senses were in overdrive. He could feel the danger, but with
Jay’s hand firmly in his grasp, he felt safe.
Jay harshly pulls away from Jake’s and is about to leave the cafe but his step pauses for a moment as you didn’t follow him, standing beside Winter with frowns on your face. It’s not like you are betraying your own boyfriend right now, but he isn't in the right state of mind. With the creature inside him, you don’t feel safe around him.
Jay scoffs seeing you seems to make your mind up, he didn't say anything and left the cafe with disappointed feelings. He can’t believe people he loves turn their backs on him.
After the chaotic scene in the cafe, you tell Jake every single thing from A to Z and you also hand Jake the serum Jay created from his lab. You didn't know much about science but with the genius person next to you maybe he can figure something out.
“Follow me” Jake said and brings you to the lab that he always uses with Winter to complete their work.
As the two of you step in the lab, Jake provides you a lab coat for you to wear and he makes sure you’re sanitized well before touching any equipment in the lab.
“What are we doing here?”
“I think we can make the antidote for Jay, strong enough to let the creature die once I figure out what’s materials inside this thing” Jake stated which you only nod as a response.
The lab is filled with the hum of high-tech equipment. The room is bathed in the soft glow of computer screens and the harsh light of overhead fluorescents. Jake, with a serious expression on his face, is hunched over a microscope meanwhile you, on the other hand, are standing nearby, looking lost amidst the scientific equipment.
“Y/N, I need you to hand me the blue vial on the second shelf” he uttered, looking up from his microscope, his expression still focused, it’s not like the Jake you usually encounter, the one who is always smiling and jokes around.
You look at the shelf he mentioned, your eyes scanning over a bunch of vials and pick up the blue one that Jake asked you for.
“Here you go, Professor Jake” you joked
“Thanks” he chuckles and takes the vial from your hands, he carefully adds a drop of the liquid to the green solution resulting in a teal vial. Jake sighs in relief
“That should do it, This should neutralize the Green Goblin’s serum” he stated, looking at you who was already grinning from ear to ear and your eyes shining from excitement. You may not understand the science but you know how important this antidote is.
“But only for temporary”
Your smile faded a little
“What do you mean?”
“The antidote… it’s not permanent. It will only suppress the effects of the serum for a short time, we– I mean, I still need to create a permanent solution” Jake explained
You nod, the fact that Jake successfully makes one with a temporary solution already gives you hope.
“For now, you keep these vials to yourself first, if the goblin is about to take control, quickly inject him with this, okay?”
“I'll try…” you answer with a very unsure tone in your voice, it’s not an easy job for you.
The sun was high in the sky, casting shadows between the towering skyscrapers of New York City and it’s a good day for the Green Goblin to hunt his nemesis; Spiderman.
The Green Goblin, cackling maniacally, was darting between buildings on his glider, a trail of green smoke following him.
“Spiderman, come out and play!” he screams with rough voice
It took Green Goblin a minute to scream Spiderman’s name before he, with his web-slingers at the ready, was hot on the Goblin’s tail. The two of them ‘danced’ in the sky, a deadly ballet of power and agility.
“Give it up, Goblin!” Jake yelled, launching the sticky web at him but Goblin was fast to avoid the attack as if he already learned all the Spiderman’s move.
Their fight took them higher and higher, until they were level with the eleventh floor of a nearby building. The Green Goblin, grinning wickedly, suddenly veered towards the building, crashing through a window and into an office space. Jake followed, landing gracefully amidst the shattered glass.
Inside the office, employees screamed and ducked for cover as the two adversaries faced off. Jake, ever the protector, quickly webbed up the exits, ensuring no one would get caught in the crossfire.
“End of this, Goblin!” Jake declared, his eyes narrowing behind his mask. The Green Goblin just laughed, his eyes gleaming with madness.
“Oh, Spiderman,” he sneered, “The fun is just beginning.”
And with that, their battle continued, the eleventh floor of the building becoming their battleground.
“Everyone, please evacuate the building!” Jake yelled while he shot his web to the Green Goblin. In the middle of chaos, Jake tries to protect all the employees from the villain’s glider while avoiding the villain's attack.
While the guards and the polices are trying to get all the employees safe and sound, you on the other hand is running as hard as you can when you heard the villain is attacking again, you just finish class and was about to go to Jay’s before someone from your class pointed out that the Green Goblin is attacking again.
You sneakily enter the building as all the frontliners are too focused on the employees and citizens' safety, you take the stairs until the eleventh floor.
“Hey, attacking private property isn’t cool dude… How about we talked about this with coffee? Do you like coffee?” Jake asked, while kicking the Green Goblin’s glider, making him fall to the ground with a loud thud.
“You need to die!” he grunts
“Oh no no, you need to die not me” Jake utter while emphasizing the word ‘You’
The Green Goblin quickly gets up and attacks Jake with his blade, his move was so fast that Jake almost couldn’t catch up with him. And the next thing Jake knows, he is being thrown to the hard wall, the Green Goblin using his glider to limit his move. With his hideous patches green hand holding the sharpened blade, the Green Goblin swung his arms towards Jake’s face wanting to stab him using his blade but you burst through the door with heavy panting.
You swore under your breath, being a Spiderman’s unofficial sidekick is hard. You don’t even have a costume.
You ignore the feeling of your legs that start to shake and run towards the villain, with a syringe filled with the powerful teal liquid and precise aim– you inject the antidote directly into the Green Goblin’s neck.
“W-what are you doing here?” Jake asked as soon as the pressure of the gilder got low as if he didnt know the main purpose you are here.
“No time for explanation! I need to take this guy somewhere safe and you need to help me!”
“Wait, you know this guy?”
“I said I had no time for explanation! And please distract all of them, they can’t see him in human form” you pleaded, while swinging unconscious Jay’s arm to your neck.
“But hey, the antidote is working, you did it?”
“No, my genius friend made it”
Jake smiles underneath the smile, ah how he loves the honest compliment coming from you.
“He is indeed a genius” Jake muttered underneath his breath before helping you with Jay. Jake wrapped both of his arms to your and Jay’s waist and then he shot his web to the ceiling.
“We gotta keep this lowkey, no scream okay or else they’re gonna notice us” Jake warned
You nod your head, you tighten your arms that wrap around his waist and pursue your lips together. Not wasting any time, Jake jumps through the middle space of the stairs. You shut your eyes real tight due to the speedness, luckily the hero beside you landed the three of you very carefully before leading you to the emergency exits before take off to distract the citizens and the frontliners.
“Jay, thank God, you’re awake!” you exclaim, it’s been three hours since the chaos and you are afraid that he won’t awake since the antidote that Jake created did not test on any living things yet.
“Out” Jay weakly said, his eyes staring to the ceiling instead of you.
“Jay–”
“He said, you helped him again!” he yelled making you flinch, this time his deadly eyes stares right into you.
“I don’t want to leave, you’re not stable yet” your voice is shaky, suppressing yourself from crying in front of him.
“That day when you decided to side with Jake is over for us, Y/N! I don’t need people who turns their back on me”
“You’re about to murder people, Jay! I can’t let you do that when I know there’s something else that has been controlling you” you fight back, you hate that parasite for manipulating Jay. He knows Jay is desperate and willingly says yes to anything to get his old life back, he uses Jay’s body for a host to kills Spiderman.
“Baby, we can work together…” you holds Jay’s cold hand
“Jake created this antidote for you, it can neutralize the serum that you created, he’s been working on it and if it’s successful, then you will be able to cure and the creature inside you will be gone!” you try to persuade him, you could see his eyes soften for a slight moment before it turns fierce again.
“Just go, Y/N” he urged, he got up from the bed and pushed you out of his room and slammed it on your face.
“If you change your mind, me and Jake will be at his lab. We’re on the final step to finish your antidote, hopefully” you said before leaving the Osborn penthouse.
That night, Jake and you were working hard to finish an antidote for the Green Goblin. After weeks of trial and error, he had finally cracked the code and created the perfect serum that could stop the villainous goblin in its tracks. As the duo were wrapping up their work for the day, they heard a loud crash from outside the building. Startled, they looked out the window and spotted the Green Goblin hovering in the air in front of the building. Fearing for their safety, Jake knew they had to act quickly and get the antidote ready before it was too late.
But before Jake can even think of his plan, the Green Goblin crashes into the floor Jake and you are in and as if he got a dog’s nose, he glides straight to the lab and smirks when he captures both of you frozen on the scene.
“He was too weak, a word from his girlfriend and he wants to surrender” the raspy voice spat.
Jake and you immediately know who the creature is referring to.
“Why do people like you need to destroy everything I had planned from the start?” he asked, looking sharply at Jake then at you.
“Now, now… give me the antidote before I need to kill Spiderman” he said, he got off from the glider walking towards the two of you. Your breath hitched, usually Spiderman will come at the right time. Where is he?
“Mr Goblin… we still can talk..” Jake said, his hands grabbed on his backpack.
“No more talking! I am done with talking, now give me the antidote before I waste my time to kill the two of you!” he snarled
“Well, I guess we need to do a plan B” Jake said to you
You turned to him with a puzzled look, both of you didnt come up with any plan at all, what did he talk about?
“What plan B?” you half-whispered to him
“Plan B is, Y/N, run!” Jake yelled and grabbed the nearest chair to throw to the creature making him growl in pain.
He quickly takes his backpack and leaves the lab to change into his costume meanwhile you are running for your life until you find an empty classroom. You hide under the table and cup your mouth using both of your hands, you don’t know what Jake’s plan is since the antidote is on your hand nonetheless, you trust him.
On the other hand, the Green Goblin was furious. He couldn't believe he got tricked so easily by human beings, so he quickly left the lab and started searching for the two of you. His steps are slow but impactable, from inside the classroom you could clearly hear his footstepping the cold marble.
Creakkk…
The sound of the door being open makes your heartbeat faster to the point your breath becomes uneven due to cupping your mouth too tight, but you need to be safe, the Green Goblin can’t know you here until Jake comes to the rescue.
On the other side, Jake crouched down and made his way towards the door, his eyes locked on the Green Goblin. He silently crept up behind him, ready to swoop in as soon as the goblin sensing you hid under the table. Just as he was about to leap out and attack, however, he overheard something that made his blood run cold.
As Jake listened more closely, he heard the Green Goblin's voice, speaking quietly in his trademark raspy tone.
“I can sense you, Spiderman” he hissed,
“I know you're here somewhere. Come out now and face me like the hero you pretend to be.”
Jake’s heart dropped as he realized what had happened - the Green Goblin had seen straight through his plan and was waiting for Spiderman to come to the rescue. Suddenly, the villain began to charge towards the direction of your hiding place. Unable to leave his friend behind, Jake quickly jumped out and intercepted the Green Goblin.
With a burst of speed, Spider Man tackled the Green Goblin to the ground, preventing him from reaching you. The impact caused a loud crash as they tumbled across the floor together, but neither of them let up in their struggle. Jake quickly grabbed the Green Goblin by the neck and pinned him down, but the villain refused to give in. He wriggled and kicked, his sharp claws coming out and slicing at Jake’s costume. Jake gritted his teeth and did his best to hold on and keep the villain pinned down while trying to avoid his vicious attacks.
The battle raged on for what seemed like an eternity, but neither Jake nor the Green Goblin was willing to back down. They both fought for every inch of ground, refusing to let their opponent get the upper hand. Jake’s eyes were focused on keeping his grip on the villain's neck, while the Green Goblin was doing his best to wiggle and wriggle out of his grasp. With the antidote ready in one hand and a syringe in another, you watched from your hiding place, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Nevertheless, the Green Goblin seems stronger than before, he managed to break free from Jake’s grip. With his much energy, he threw Jake off the building and wasted no time to take you with him. He leapt onto his glider and flew off while laughing maniacally.
Jake grunts, he takes a deep breath to hold the pain after being thrown from the 4th floor. He curses under his breath seeing the creature successfully take you away. Ignoring the pain, he quickly swings to chase the two of you.
“Jay, let me go!” you screams
“No Jay anymore, he’s weak!” he spat and flew off towards an unfinished building. He landed on the unfinished floor that was filled with steel rods. The green eyes stare right into your soul making you shaking from tears.
“Give me those” he demand
You shook your head, lips quivering seeing the monster in front of you.
The Green Goblin grunts and wrapped his rough finger to your neck
“I’ll save my blade for Spiderman’s blood until then I have to kill you using my hands” he said and he tightened the pressure on your neck making you gasp for air. With his strength force, lift you up to the air, your legs wiggling for a release and your eyes looking straight to the villain's eyes; searching for Jay’s but to your dismay the monster did not lie when he said Jay is gone.
Your vision getting blurry, suddenly getting a flashback when the Green Goblin almost killed you at the park. You don’t even have strength to lift your hands and be sneaky to inject him with the antidote that Jake’s created.
For the last time, you try searching for Jay– hoping that he fights the demon that terrorized his body.
Your tears fall when he is nowhere to be seen.
Unnoticed by you, your hands that gripped on the antidote slowly loosening resulting in the antidote to fall to the ground.
“Gotcha!”
The Green Goblin growls seeing the person he hates– Spiderman successfully caught the antidote before it landed on the ground.
Jake makes his way to the top of the floor, which is where you and him are right now.
“Let her go” Jake said, his voice is serious
The Green Goblin smirks, using one hand that still grabs your neck he lets you hang by his hand for support, your feet don't touch the ground but the air instead.
“Very poor choice of words” and with that, the Green Goblin releases his hand that has been wrapped around your neck, sending you plummeting down towards the ground below
You can’t even have the energy to scream, at this point you accept the fate that you are losing for helping your own lover.
With lightning speed, Jake webbed up his web shooters, launched himself off the ground, and used his web to catch you and the Green Goblin, pulled you away from the edge of the building and pulled the Green Goblin off the building causing him to drop immediately to the ground. He managed to pull you to safety, just seconds before you would've hit the ground. As the duo caught their breath, Jake glared at the creature.
Jake puts you down and uses his strength and punches the Green Goblin numerous times to buy you some time to fill the syringe with the antidote and to make him slightly less powerful.
You tried your best to fill it and your shaky hands did not help the process, your heart still beat faster and your mind still hazy due to lack of oxygen but nonetheless you need to help Jay.
With a steely gaze, you injected the serum directly into the Green Goblin's neck, who let out a howl of pain as it took effect. The antidote worked almost instantly, and the Green Goblin slowly transformed back into his human form, Jay. A look of confusion and horror crossed his face as he looked at the two of you, having no memory of his villainous alter ego or the crimes he had committed.
“Y/N…” Jay panted, you quickly gave him a hug while crying, relieved that everything was over.
Underneath his mask, Jake is smiling. He was also relieved because he got to save his best friend with the antidote he created.
“Oh my God!” you let go of Jay and turn to the Spiderman who is standing right next to you.
“My friend, Jake!” you gasped, you literally forgot Jake is still in the building, maybe he is still searching for you.
“Spiderman, please look for Jake!”
“That Jake you searched in the park? Damn he need to take care of himself”
“Please! We can take care of ourselves here. Thank you so much!” you said
“Uh.. okay.. But make sure to take a taxi, this is criminal’s favorite spot” he warned
You nods your head and thanking him for the second time before he off to ‘search for Jake’
“Are you feeling okay?” you asked as soon as you entered Jay’s room.
He weakly nodded, after the night he told the goblin that he’s gonna surrender himself, the creature getting violence and taking full control of his body for that night, he can't even fight the creature because his power was too strong for him.
Luckily the antidote that Jake created saved him, it neutralized all the chemicals and radioactive in Jay's body. His skin didn't have any patches or green veins left, it feels like he is a normal person again.
“Thank you for not giving up on me” he said, his voice sounding strained.
You pull him into side hug and plant a kiss on his forehead
“I don’t wanna lose you as much as you don’t wanna lose me, Jay” you uttered.
“Uh.. should I leave?” the two of you flinched at the sudden voice and laughed as you saw Jake standing awkwardly at the door.
“Dude, come on in,” Jay exclaims.
The two best friends smile at each other before high five each other.
“Thank you, Jake and I’m sorry for every shits I’d done to you” Jay utters.
“Nah man, all good. That’s what best friend for” Jake beams.
While you and Jake are chatting, Jay smiles at himself, it’s been awhile since he felt a spark of joy inside of him. Since his father’s death he has been nothing but miserable. He is thankful he didn't end up like his father and for the two people in his life; you and Jake for not giving up on him.
It’s hard to believe that his wish to be together with you is not a wish anymore.

You hadn’t expected it.
How quickly the words shot from his mouth.
“Then I won’t be Spider-man.”
How, with such ease, he was offering to change the entire trajectory of his life…
For you.
You blink at him, surprise wrapping over the features of your face and strangling your limbs frozen. “What?” Your voice echoes, almost sounding akin to a shout among the silence. Peter doesn’t answer at first. Your blabber-mouth boyfriend is silent. His face is soft and his body is stilling. His tearful gaze slowly rises to meet yours, his fingers twitch as they reach slowly for yours like a kitten testing a mouse but he doesn’t hesitate. You’re not even sure if he’s breathing. “Then I won’t be Spider-man.” You blink–almost flinch. “But you love Spider-man.” His fingers squeeze yours, you barely noticed that he had secured your hand in his already. “But I love you more.” He breathes, face gentle and patient. When you don’t reply, he slides slightly closer to you. “I don’t want to be Spider-man if it means not having you.” Your breath hitches a gasp but he barely reacts, expecting your surprise from your relationship or his senses you aren’t sure. His lips curl into a gentle smile as if he can hear your thoughts. You can feel your pulse in your throat, hear its bellowing begs to calm yourself. He leans in. “Spider-man means nothing if Peter Parker can’t have you.” Your lip tucks between your teeth which all feel too sharp all of a sudden.
You softly shake your head. “But ev-everything that you’ve worked for, everything that you’ve fought for–” He interrupts you by shaking his head and untangling from your hands. His own rise up to cup your face and press your foreheads together. “I love you more.” He repeats. The words make you more light-headed than alcohol ever could but you still lack conviction. “Petey, this is your future.” His eyes stutter closed at the familiar nickname and the warmth it permeates through his insides, toiling and tangling them like Christmas ribbon. “So are you,” He retorts, words smoothly gliding past his tongue. Your lips part but he presses his index to them, they scold you silently. “I want you to understand that I am yours, love. I am yours, no one else’s. I’m not May’s, I’m not Tony’s and I’m not New York’s.” A chuckle can’t help but bubble from his mouth. “I want to give you everything,” He lilts, voice sweet and gentle. “Whether that’s me or a thousand diamonds, I’ll make it happen, okay?” Your eyes flicker over his face in uncertainty but his smile looks so reassuring. Your arms wrap around his waist. “I don’t want to be the reason that you can’t do what you love.” You retort quietly, you want to sound sure and final but your breath trembles. His brows raise and he sidles you onto his lap, coiling your legs onto either side of his own. “Then maybe that can be arranged.” He teases and you hate the giggle that slips out of you. The only way you can describe Peter Parker is warm, gentle and yours…Maybe that isn’t such a bad thing but right now you aren’t sure whether it is right or wrong or misguided.
Peter’s thumb rolls gentle circles beneath your left eye, his nose brushes yours. Never have the both of you ever engaged in such intimate affection. “Peter Parker has the one thing that Spider-man never will and for once that’s more important to me than the whole universe.” His eyes trace over your face with a gentle grace you have never seen. His doe eyes trickle with warmth. You flick your tongue to dampen your dry lips. “What’s that?” You ask in a fragile whisper. His lips twitch up. “Your heart, darling” His eyes flutter shut. “I want to protect that far more than I want to protect Queens.” You can’t help the goofy giddiness that spreads throughout you. “I love you.” You murmur. He rolls his eyes and grins at you. “I know.” Peter teases. You almost push him away but you both know it would take a lot more than your weak-willed hands to twirl out of his grip. As if sensing your internal plots, his hands squish your cheeks. You wrinkle your nose, unimpressed. “It just hurts,” You explain. “Seeing you like this. Seeing you hurt and knowing that there is absolutely nothing that I can do about it but watch and wait.” A sigh flutters from his mouth. “I know, love, I know…” Then his brows cinch. “I don’t even know what I would do with myself if it were you out there instead.”
“This still doesn’t seem fair…” You murmur. He shakes his head and sighs, breath fanning over your lips. “Well lucky for you, it isn’t your decision to make fair.” He replies softly and almost teasing, a familiar playfulness seeping through. Peter’s right-hand fingers dip through the crevices of your hair, diving through the strands like pieces of thread. His touch tingles along your skin, sparks set up camp as if it’s their home. “I love you,” He utters again and it’s against your own hopes that you sigh with a light grin. “I know.” You respond. His lips turn up to tickle against yours. The skin of both your lips jigsaw into place, they brush in perfect tandem and radiate the heat you have been denying. His touch is tender and wanting, the gentleness of affection radiates as warm as a fireplace. Peter’s tongue dips out to line the seam of your lips. He pulls away. “I want a future with you–a future without villains in the way.” His voice lilts through your ears. “I want a real future with you. I-I knew someone once who lost their own you because of…this.” He gestures , perhaps you would giggle if the subject weren’t so somber. His eyes are dimmer now and something almost fearful lies just below his lids. He pecks a gentle kiss back onto your lips but lets it linger. “Well, I’m not going anywhere.” Your gentle assurance whispers in his ear. A shiver passes over him, his eyes flutter closed. His grip tightens. He knows now. He’s made peace with it. He needs you above everything else. Only you.

For anyone using "Flower" or "sunflower" as a hobie nickname for miles or even just anyone wanting to put flowers in their fic or whatever, here's some information about it:
- In the language of flowers, the sunflower clearly means "you are my sun". It's a lovely message of love. But the "Flower of the Sun" can also represent recognition and respect for someone.
- In this case, the sunflower is a symbol of fidelity, accompanying the sun from morning to night. Of course, sunflowers also look like little suns.
- sunflowers are summer flowers and grow from June to September.
- there are 70 different types of sunflower, the most common of which are the 'italian white' sunflower, the silver-leaved sunflower and the ten-rayed sunflower.

Tumblr media
He's careful, stomach coiled tight to control his breathing. One hand is delicately pinching a bolt with tweezers, the other holding his webshooter frighteningly still. One wrong move would trigger the suspension, and about four hours' worth of fluid refill would end up all over his research notes. He has to be slow. He lowers the tweezers another half inch.
Gently, the bolt's thread catches and he releases the breath he'd been holding. In that same moment, you shout and his tweezers slip.
It's the feeling of webs spraying him in the face that he registers first, their tendrils catching onto his glasses and eyelashes and lips. Then it's your rushed breathing, the pumping of your heart nearly beating out of your chest. He doesn't feel a tingle along his spine but your shout jolts Peter out of his spell. In an instant, he's batting away the webs and throwing himself out of his office with enough velocity to take down a wall. He's expecting scorpions, vultures, lizards, his hearing zeroing in on you, and-
-and he turns the corner and there's you, crouched on the floor, hands cupped in front of you—cocooning something. "Hey, hey, hey, whoa, whoa." Peter's eyes flit around the room, looking for the threat his senses ought to have picked up on by now, and kneels beside you. He focuses on your hands and your complete and utter lack of urgency. "What's going on?"
You glance to the side, so quick he doesn't even think you register the panic on his face, "Pete, thank God. Can you talk to this thing for me?"
You move your hand and the other breathing thing in the room becomes apparent. A spider, barely the size of a crumb, is crawling over mountains of carpet thread. It's moving quickly but in circles, clearly confounded by the terrain. Peter looks at you. He drags each syllable out as he asks, "What is happening?"
You shift and Peter shifts with you, keeping an eye on the spider, "This thing- this spider is such a jackass."
"Yeah?"
"I'm trying to get him outside and he won't go."
You've got a flier for Pilates in the Park clenched in one hand, while the other is cautiously putting a wall between the spider and the abyss under your sofa, a place where even Peter dares not go. "Why don't you just kill it?"
Clearly that was the wrong thing to say. You look horrified at him as you answer, "I can't kill him!"
"Do we- are we sure it's a him? Have you decided he's a him?"
"I made a promise to myself that I would stop killing."
"I don't think... okay, what is going on here?"
You struggle to explain and focus on the spider at the same time, "It's a resolution I made for the new year. That even though I'm terrified of these things, I won't kill them anymore because... because they're living beings just like me." Peter watches you bite your lip, a twinge of pity sewn into the divot between your furrowed brows, "So I'm putting them outside whenever I see one... if only they would stop being jackasses about it."
Peter half-laughs, half-sighs. The little spider crawling around on the ground is none the wiser to your inner peril, "This isn't just because your boyfriend is, like, 1/3 spider, is it? I won't take it personally if you hit him with a shoe."
You snort and place your flier in front of the escaping spider, watching it crawl over the word "yoga" before making a u-turn for the carpet, "Of course not, my spider overlord."
You try to scoop up the spider again but every time you lift the paper, it dives off the other side and back into the carpet. "How long does this usually take?" Peter asks. He sits back on his ass, propping up a knee to rest his arm on.
"Ten minutes at best. If I don't lose them."
"Hm. And this works for you?"
You pout up at him, scooping up the spider again and watching it fly off once more, "I usually manage to get them outside, I'll have you know."
"And the screaming?"
"I never said it was a peaceful process."
"So, let me get this straight," Peter leans into you, "you spot the spider, you grab the nearest piece of paper, you try to get the spider on the paper, and then you...?"
"Scream and run until I make it to the window."
"Why- why the screaming?"
You wince, trying not to lose the bug in the carpet, "Because I'm scared they'll touch me." Your boyfriend tickles his fingers along your arm and you shiver, swatting him with your free hand.
After another failed attempt, Peter places his hand in front of the spider's path and it crawls into his palm to get to the kitchen. Before it can cross over into tiled territory, it's forced to a sudden stop, and Peter takes advantage.
It takes him three strides to get to the living room window, yank it open, and release the spiderling into the wild.
You're standing behind him with a look of frustration on your face, even though your shoulders have finally sagged with relief, "How'd you convince him to sit in your hand like that?"
"I didn't. Sticky hands." Peter wiggles all his fingers at you, amused.
"Wh- that's it? Do they not usually listen to you or something?" You grab one of his hands and quickly realize he's using that ability on you this time. He's got you stuck in a handhold.
"I can't remember when I ever said I could talk to spiders."
"I mean, it seems like a pretty fair assumption," you grumble, trying to shake his hand away before giving in, "they put their juices in you after all."
"Why would you say that?"
"Thanks for the help, by the way. I'm still... getting used to not panicking when I see them."
Peter raises his other hand to your hair and gives you a kiss on the temple, smiling against your skin, "You are so, so, so brave."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. I mean, it's pretty brave to show mercy to something you fear, right? You could've killed it or asked me to do it, but you didn't. You wanted it to live."
"It doesn't mean to scare me," you bring your intertwined hands up to your mouth and press a kiss to his knuckles, "I'd want it to take pity on me if it was the other way around."
"I think the spiders will appreciate that."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Then why do they give me such a hard time?"
"Well, you're so scared of them that you don't even realize they're just as scared of you. You gotta make 'em like you, you know?"
"Got any tips for that?"
Peter guides his free hand to your waist, rocking you side to side, "Hm. Buy them sushi. Take them to a midnight showing of Night of the Living Dead. Tell him you think his nerdy rambling after the movie is sexy..." You giggle into Peter's chest and his heart swells, "Don't laugh! It worked on me."
You tilt your head up and he steals a kiss without hesitation, making you stumble on what you say next, "How about you just come let them out for me next time, hm?"
"And if I'm not around?"
"...make me a super scientific spider catching gadget?"
Peter hooks his hands underneath your thighs and hikes you up around his waist, "I'll make you one if you refill my web fluid for me."
"You can fill me with your web fluid."
"Okay. I'm putting you in time out, freak."

SPIDER-BOY

Two months.
That was how long it had been since Peter first indulged in his ridiculous idea of talking to you under the guise of Spider-Man. Of course he hadn’t meant for it to last this long, promising himself that it was just to help him build his confidence–maybe even learn a bit about what kind of things you liked–so that he could actually ask you out as himself. Unfortunately, though, things hadn’t gone quite as he had planned.
Spider-Man offered him a type of courage that he just wasn’t able to muster as Peter Parker. Under the cover of his mask he was able to come across as easy-going and flirtatious, never failing to leave your cheeks a deep crimson from the playful banter. Yet, when he did manage to speak to you as plain ole’ Peter, all of that was suddenly lost on him, leaving him a complete and total bumbling mess. As far as he was concerned, Peter Parker had no chance to be what any girl wanted, especially you. But Spider-Man was a different story.
And so he continued to exploit Spider-Man, using the masked hero as a means to continue getting closer to you, pretending to be oblivious to the fact that he wouldn’t be able to hide behind his secret identity forever. To be fair, he would rationalize to himself, Spider-Man had taken a lot from him, it was only fair that he got something in return.
Plus, the interactions had been mostly innocent. Or at least that’s what he kept telling himself, opting to ignore the many times that coy attitudes began to border on actual sexual attraction. He tried not to think about those times (though there had been many nights where he purposely let those interactions slip into his mind, reliving them from the privacy of his bedroom), instead just promising himself that he wouldn’t let his romantic escapades as Spidey go too far.
“So,” your voice filled his ears, his heart skipping a few beats at the sound, “at what point should I start to wonder if you’re stalking me?”
Peter chuckled at the question, his fingers gripping the railing of the balcony to your apartment, effortlessly hanging from it. “Do you feel like I’m stalking you?”
“Hm,” you placed a finger against your chin, pretending to be deep in thought, evoking even more laughter from the boy. “Maybe a bit.”
“Oh yeah? What did I do to give that impression?”
“Well, to be fair, you’re currently dangling a couple hundred feet in the air off the side of my balcony.” You told him matter-of-factly, gesturing to where he was still hanging from the railing.
His brows furrowed beneath his mask, an expression that was barely noticeable due to the fabric covering his face. “And that makes me a stalker? I thought you’d find it romantic, a sort of Romeo-and-Juliet moment.”
“Romeo threw pebbles at her window, he didn’t scale an entire apartment building dressed in spandex.” You reminded him, “But, actually, it’s more so that I don’t remember ever giving you my address.”
Peter froze for a moment, having not thought about the fact that your previous run-ins with Spider-Man had always been in public spaces–catching you after work or just happening to bump into you on the street while patrolling–never at your home. He only knew where you lived because you had told him, but as Peter Parker, not Spider-Man, when the two of you were assigned to a project together last week. He mentally face-palmed at his own ignorance.
“Superheroes keep up with where all the pretty girls live. One of the lesser-known parts of the job.” He quipped, hoping that flattery would keep you from thinking too much into it. You only rolled your eyes at the comment, luckily not pressing any further.
“So what did I do to deserve a surprise Spidey visit this time?” You hummed, leaning back against the cold brick of your apartment building.
Peter hoisted himself over the edge of the balcony so that he was standing across from you, his arms finally beginning to ache from holding up his bodyweight for so long. “What, I’ve gotta have a reason to stop by and see my favorite civilian?”
“Civilian?” You snorted. “And here I was thinking you and I were friends.”
He dramatically placed his hands on either side of his face, feigning shock at your words, “Oh God no! You and me? Friends?” he let his hands fall to his waist, an exaggerated breath leaving his mouth, “No, not at all. I think that would be a conflict of interest.”
You cocked a brow at him, “How so?”
“I mean–I just think it would really interfere with our whole superhero slash damsel-in-distress routine, ya know?”
“Damsel-in-distress?” You gasped incredulously at the claim, though the corners of your mouth were still quirked up in a smile.
Peter nodded, “Uh, yeah. That’s literally our whole thing, isn’t it? You constantly running into trouble, me swinging in and saving your life.”
“You haven’t had to save my life once Spider-Boy.” Peter scoffed at the name, acting like he was insulted.
“Oh c’mon!” Peter dragged the word out, practically whining as he took a fraction of a step towards you, the movement enough to leave only a few inches between the both of you due to how small the balcony was. “You are literally always getting yourself into danger.”
“Okay,” You crossed your arms over your chest, craning your neck so that you could actually look up at him, the masked vigilante having several inches on you, “give me an example then.”
Peter rolled his eyes, a gesture only evident by the dramatic way his head moved along with them. He reached a gloved hand to your face, letting his fingertip gently brush against the semi-healed cut along your forehead. “You literally got this by tripping over your own shoes and banging your head against the counter at a coffee shop. Not to mention the fact that you spilled your entire coffee on yourself in the process.” He trailed away from the cut, moving to brush a stray hair behind your ear. He didn’t take his hand away, though, letting it rest against the side of your face. “You are always in danger because you are the danger.”
Your eyes widened for a moment, so quick that he didn’t even notice the reaction. He was right, you had done that, an unfortunate consequence of being the clumsiest person alive. But, still, his words left you confused; remaining silent for just a moment as you turned them over in your head. When you finally opened your mouth to speak you were cut off by the sound of distant sirens, a groan immediately coming from him, knowing that your interaction would now be cut short.
His thumb brushed against your cheek, acting as an unnecessary silent apology.
“Sounds like somebody needs Spider-Man.” You told him as he let his hand fall from your skin, forcing himself to the railing. If he didn’t go now, he wouldn’t leave at all. “You better hurry, it could be one of those pretty girls you keep tabs on.” You shot a teasing grin in his direction, referencing his earlier comment.
“Ugh, they just never give me a day off.” He joked, swinging his feet over the balcony railing before gripping onto it and allowing himself to once again hang from it. “Try not to trip into anything dangerous until I’m back.”
He turned his head and reached one hand out, likely to shoot a web at the building across from yours, but hesitated when he heard you speak again, a sudden panic filling his body at your words, “Be safe, Parker.”
The sirens continued blaring, growing closer with each second, but all he could hear was the sound of his own heart wildly thumping against his chest. “What?” He sounded completely dumbfounded, his head slowly turning back to look at you, only to find you standing with your own finger pointing to the cut he had traced on your forehead, a wide grin on your face.
“Spider-Man wasn’t there the day that I fell.” You shot a knowing glance in his direction, one that had his cheeks heating up. He had never been more thankful to be wearing a mask, aware that his face was likely beet red. “I asked Peter to meet me there so I could borrow his biology notes.”
Peter didn’t speak, too stunned by his own stupidity for slipping up and not thinking about how he was there that day as himself, not Spider-Man. This time you were the one to take a step forward and close the gap between you, having to lean down just a bit in order to be face-to-face as he dangled from the railing.
“You’re a lot more confident in the suit.” You mused, your hands finding the base of his mask, lightly tugging the material up to reveal his face. Even though it was dark out you could still see that he was blushing. “But I prefer you without it.”
His jaw fell slack, words getting caught in his throat as a million thoughts raced through his mind, though one thought in particular was a lot louder than the rest: I prefer you without it.
“You should definitely go.” The sirens were now close enough that you could actually see the faint red-and-blue lights a few streets over. He looked in the direction of them but still didn’t make a single move to leave. You seemed to recognize his hesitation, tugging the mask back down over his face. “If you ever remember how to talk then you can come back when you’re done. But ditch the mask.”
Peter nodded at your words, his eyes remaining glued to you as you straightened back up, turning your back to him to go back inside your apartment–leaving him to go off and be a hero. Once you were inside he couldn’t help but laugh, shaking his head as he forced himself to get into motion, swinging in the direction of the police lights.
Turns out Peter Parker did have a chance.

baby-sitting for miguel o'hara. (part ii)
miguel o'hara x m!reader headcanons.
part i.
warnings: smut, perverted!miguel, top!miguel, soft!miguel at times!!, bottom!male reader, small!male reader, thoughts of sex, fantasy!sex, masturbation, humping, kinda domestic idk.
notes: it's been a long time coming. 💀 i honestly was struggling to find like a plot for the second part, or just how to move forward. lmao. but i hope this turned out okay???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—never again, miguel promised himself that night.
—it had been a few weeks since he last jerked off to your briefs. the blue undergarment that he came into were thrown somewhere under his bed, far from his reach.
—and as tempting as it was to smell you again, he mustered up the courage to leave the stained fabric alone.
—for good.
—miguel despised what he had become.
—settling his sex life on a lone piece of fabric, it was pathetic.
—from dusk til dawn, you participated in a triathlon of his delirious state of mind and competed for several awards that would then be mediated by miguel.
—had it been a real competition, he would’ve been fired for exhibiting extreme favoritism because you’d win all the trophies and medals.
—a ‘helping hand’ award he would award you a few mornings ago, where he jerked off to the thought of you giving him a handjob during his lunch break.
—multiple ‘most improved’ awards for when you were able to throat his cock a little more than before.
—and another for when your ass was able to take miguel in without needing to pause or adjust for his size, even if the strain of your facial expressions told a different story.
—gagging in between moans, coughing out thick globs of spit, wincing in bittersweet pain when he pushed in, arching in complete pleasure when he pushed out.
—he loved the idea of watching and hearing you struggle because of his cock.
—though, it was only until recently when he began feeling a strong sense of guilt for portraying you in such a manner.
—it was a promotion at work that allowed his hours to be more flexible than before, and miguel utilized that to the fullest by spending every waking second with his daughter.
—and you.
—even when he came home early, he never sent you home.
—maybe it was the perfect opportunity to get one step closer into your pants.
—or maybe he wanted to get to know the babysitter that gabriella had taken an extreme liking to.
—get to know the babysitter that had somehow made miguel feel something more than simply lust.
—you hungry? you haven’t taken your eyes off of your thesis paper since i got here.
—hm...?
—that night, you’d look up at him with those bright eyes, that bright smile that latched onto miguel’s adam apple and made it hard for him to swallow.
—it was as radiant as the first time he saw you. one wouldn’t be able to tell that you’ve been pulling all-nighters for the past few weeks.
—oh! i guess i’m a little hungry. i haven’t eaten since breakfast—
—breakfast? i told you that you could rummage through the pantries, right? you practically live here at this point.
—i know, i know! once i get in the zone, i kind of forget about everything… except for gabriella! it’s funny. as loud as her cries are, they’re kind of my savior right now.
—hm...
—it’s getting late, so i’ll just whip up something at home—
—no, stay. i’ll cook something.
—sir, you don’t have to—
—miguel’s chest swelled. that word again.
—i’m cooking. stay, or i’m firing you for wasting my ingredients.
—hey, unfair! pretty sure that’s a violation of our contract or something!
—it didn’t take long for it to become a regular occurrence.
—miguel would cook a late dinner for two, and he’d join you on the couch with a plate of what the limit of his culinary skills could whip up.
—it wasn’t like this every day, but it was often, which was more than what miguel could ask for.
—he would use the little time he had with you to learn about you more. your interests, your background, your passions, your personality, and you’d do the same.
—on some nights, he’d proof-read your thesis paper and provide some feedback that you would immediately take in consideration and make the changes to your paper.
—on many nights, he’d simply close your laptop and force you to take a break because as alluring as those recent eye bags were, your health was a priority.
—stay for the night. it’s late.
—i’m almost done for the night! i just have a few more—
—nope, you’ve used up all your excuses. i’m confiscating this.
—where am i even supposed to sleep?!
—and on those many nights, you’d end up sleeping on miguel’s couch despite the persistent offers of his comfier bed.
—there would be times where you two would chat into the night while the tv played in the background.
—you’d ask each other about your day, tell stories about gabriella, bond over shared interests, fueled debates over a quality of a certain movie, until fatigue hit either you or miguel.
—usually you were the first one to fall asleep, and he would watch you silently.
—the flickering lights from the tv would accentuate your features in the night, and he never knew he could find you even more handsome.
—your complete vulnerability was enticing.
—you would curl into the blanket he’d given you, and miguel would take the time to count the seconds it would take for you to exhale your dreams.
—the longer it was, the deeper you were into your sleep.
—it wouldn’t be until thirty exhales more that miguel would send himself to bed.
—five seconds, miguel would find himself mimicking the pattern of your breath before he drifted off into the night.
—then there would be nights where the subject matter would be more personal, more than miguel would have liked.
—does it get lonely sometimes?
—i’d be lying if i said no. not all the time, though. i have gabriella.
—huh…
—is that why you’re a complete grump all the time?
—watch it.
—i’m kidding! good thing you have me too, right?
—yeah.
—good thing i have you too… miguel sighed heavily at the empty side of his bed, staring into the darkness until the shadows from the night had forged a shape of your body.
—he closed his eyes when he felt a whisper of your lips near his, barely ghosting over his pair, and stroke himself to the possible reality of you becoming his.
—fuck... he then lied on his stomach and began humping into the bed, against the bed sheets, and held the imagination of your body close to his own, protecting you like his life depended on it.
—i need you… miguel pressed his face into the pillow, inhaling the memory of your shampoo as he polished his hips further into the bed.
—his cock rubbed in between his body and the soft sheets as he’d imagine unsheathing himself in and out of you at a slow yet steady pace.
—because he needed to savor you.
—he would imagine how you’d respond with every thrust.
—your words would glue to your throat because you’d be too overwhelmed by his size, by the pleasure that miguel would finally be delivering to you, by the doting hold around you, and with the aid of his hips, your words would like crystallized honey.
—miguel would push his cock into you deeper, taking in the sound of your voice into his with a warm kiss. — i—
—you would draw out sounds from your throat until they were practically begs when miguel would pull out excruciatingly slow to tease, then a demand as he would doubt your confession by cautiously following the outline of your pucker with the tip of his cock.
— need—
—his hips would lift, then come down onto you like hail. hard and sudden as his cock would ram into your tight fill, knock your breath back into the tight of your throat.
— you—
—you need him.
—miguel could tell from the way you completed allowed him to invade your reserve until he was balls-deep inside of you.
—from the way he’d pull out once more and your hole would memorize the shape of his cock, down to his thick girth. puckering to the recollection of his throbbing veins.
—and he’d be the one to bridge the puzzle pieces together as he would press himself forward and bend your legs back before slamming his cock back into you  with the delirious evocation of lust.
—you would stifle your moans into your forearm as the bed rocked to the strong rhythm of miguel’s thrusts, but he’d pull your arms away and hold your wrists above your head.
—he needed to hear you.
—hear how much you wanted him, how much you needed him.
— i’m going to come—
—you’d grunt in between the heavy and sticky sounds of your skin colliding against one another, into the thick air that you and miguel had mutually forged together.
—his other hand had been wrapped around your cock, jerking the throbbing muscle to every count of his balls bouncing off your bottom.
—he would squeeze and stroke, your pre-cum coming down in thick drips, and he would thumb at the slippery wet slip until the pad of his thumb was layered in your thick substance.
—until his fist was covered in a glorious amount of your warm cum, inking him deep with your devotion before feeding you of your own need.
—he would bring his hand up to you and slip two fingers inside of your mouth. your tongue would slowly roll over his cum-covered digits, sucking the bittersweetness off of him.
—it wouldn’t be long until it would be miguel’s turn.
—miguel would continue bringing the remaining fingers up to your mouth for you to cleanse him off, and it would be enough for him to have him in shambles.
—imagining you devour your own sweet lust until all five of his fingers were polished clean awakened him to another level of pure ecstasy, and miguel groaned, rocking desperately into his bed.
—your warm hands would all over his toned body, fueling the tension in his stomach as you would prioritize the center of his abdomen.
—fuck, come in me—
—miguel would his weight onto you, his large body practically devouring you in sheer size as the heat and sweat confined you to the parameters, and he’d hold you close once more by slipping his arms around you.
—a cycle of thrusts quickened every round and you held onto him. kissing at the side of his neck. suckling at the round of his shoulder.
—i’m coming… he muttered to himself, to no one but the wrinkled sheets beneath him, and fucked his cock harder into his bed.
—and when you heard a shudder coming from the depths of miguel’s strained throat, you licked a stripe at the center of his throat to pacify him, making your way to the plush of his lips, and kissed him at the pivot of his climax.
—miguel would exhale hard against your mouth before kissing you and spilling delirious moans into the captivity when he would begin flooding your insides with his thick and warm cum.
—heavy ropes would ricochet off your violated inside, but miguel would press into you closer, harder, and intimately so, until your foreheads were bruised into one another.
—in occurring reality, miguel painted his bed sheets in thick layers of warmth and musk. layers of cum wetting his bed as he desperately held onto his fantasies with sensitive rolls of his hips.
—his tongue would tangle into yours, practicing a slow, sensitive waltz as his softening cock would sink deep into your hole.
—and you would moan and suckle around him as you felt every drop of cum warm you from the inside and out, shielding you from the goosebumps that would frost your skin.
—the kiss would remain its passionate dance as you both relaxed into each other. your legs unwrapped to tangle into miguel’s, expertly lifting the blanket over your feet in the process.
—he would hold you tighter once he broke the kiss, turning you on your side as he lied flat on his back.
—your head would rest on his chest after pulling the remaining blanket up to your bodies and you would sigh, suddenly feeling drowsier with miguel’s warm caress aiding sleep against your back.
—for the remaining moment, he would gaze at the sheen of sweat that highlighted the flush of your skin.
—he would listen to the beat your heart, slowly coming to its resting pace as you succumb to sleep under the spell of his doting touch.
—and he would strangely feel a need to hold you, shelter you inside of his arms because he feared something would happen to you.
—fuck.
—miguel quickly rolled back onto his back in the midst of catching his breath, the shadows that had formed the image of you unfurling into obscurity.
—he felt his heart race, bullets rebounding off the beating surface like a drum, and he placed a hand over his chest to pacify at the sudden swell of his chest. —i think i love you.

Summary: Peter would do anything to get back to you. Hoping with the help of the sorcerer of his earth, he will reach his goals. Will he venture through earths? If so what would he find beyond? [ part 1 & part 2 & part 4 & part 5 ]
Tumblr media
Aunt May knocked on Peter’s door. There wasn’t an immediate response so she was hesitant to go in anyways. – “Peter?” – she spoke knocking once more. Listening in on the door, she still had no response. Having a bit enough of it, she tried to open the door, only to be greeted by a blunt force. The door wasn’t budging as far as she wanted. Something in front of it preventing the door from opening more. – “Peter! What is blocking the door.” – she called out through the crack.
She kept pushed the door in an attempt to get the thing in front of the door to move. She gave it a hard push, hearing books drop to the ground. – “Peter!” – she repeated being able to open the door a bit more, seeing the ravage in his room. Books and papers scattered around like mad man’s house. Peter sat on his bed, lifting his head up with confused hum.
The moment he saw Aunt May trying to havoc her way through, he jumped up to assist her. He picked up some books, laying them aside on another piling stack on his desk to clear the way. – “What is the meaning of this?” – she asked too stunned to understand more.
Peter picked up some paper from the floor, holding it in his hand. He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head. – “It’s a hobby.” – he answered sheepishly. Aunt May looked around, her expression with disgust. – “More like an obsession.” – she muttered trying to make her way further into his room. She picked up a book to read the title. – “Dimension travels?” – she questioned loudly, holding the book up to Peter.
“That’s… that’s…” – Peter answered making his way over to her. He snatched the book from her, keeping it close to his chest. Her eyes fell on some drawings as she showed them to him. – “Portals? Space travels? Peter what are you on about?” – she asked desperate. Peter took the drawings from her, looking saddened down at them.
“You… you wouldn’t understand.” – he simply said. – “Then let me try? Peter you’ve been neglecting your life with this obsession.” – she lectured hating to see him like this. – “It’s not an obsession!” – Peter shouted at her, losing a bit of his temper.
It startled Aunt May. He immediately regretted losing his temper like that against her. – “I’m… I’m sorry Aunt May.” – he apologized. Aunt May sympathized coming closer to him. – “I know you are struggling after Y/n’s death…” – she said touching his cheek. – “But you have to let her go.” – she begged wanting to hug him.
Peter backed away, not wanting her pity. – “I can’t.” – he told her. – “Peter look around! You’re going down a path I cannot follow. Y/n is gone and you have to accept that.” – she slightly raised her voice to get through to him. – “Don’t say that!” – he shouted back at her, not wanting to hear it.
You were not gone. You were just on another earth, far away from him. – “Peter!” – Aunt May yelled losing her composure. – “Y/n is dead and you are just going to have to accept that! Now get dressed and get to work!” – Aunt May finally had enough. She had snapped and acted it out on Peter.
Peter moved towards her, grabbing her by the arm to push her out of  his room. He shut the door hard in her face. He had never done this and felt a bit ashamed of it. It was just, she wasn’t understanding it. How could he move on from you, knowing you were alive on another earth. Now that he had tasted sweetness, he craved more.
Peter looked down at the drawing of Strange’s portal he had drawn himself ever since he came back. Strange. His eyes widened realizing something. Peter got dressed and ran out of the house. – “Peter?” – Aunt May asked as he completely ignored her and rushed out. She sighed soft, hoping she wasn’t too harsh on him and that he soon forgave her. Peter hopped onto the first subway, taking him to his destination. If your earth had a Spiderman, his earth should have a Dr. Strange as well. Right?
Only one way to find out. Peter stared out of the window as the subway rushed past. He briefly looked down at his phone, lighting his screen up with a picture of you and him. – “I’m coming for you Y/n.” – he whispered blackening the screen again. Finding Strange wasn’t easy. He had little information of the man. He searched the streets thoroughly. Looking at each face to one that would match the description of the wizard he had known on your earth.
When that was a wild goose chase, he decided to focus on the building. Something Peter, your Peter had told him. He tried searching it up with little results. Groaning frustrated, he started to wonder if he even existed here. – “Where the hell is this man!” – Peter called out, making some by-passers turn their head and stare confused at him.
Feeling a bit lost in a foreign city, Peter was ready to give up. He seated himself down on some stone steps leading to a big door. Exhaling deep he let his head fall back against the door. Closing his eyes, he didn’t want to cry. The feeling of letting you slip through his fingers again was agony. It was pure hell. Being so close, yet not close enough. The door knob turned as the door opened. Peter’s eyes widened open as he felt the space behind him disappear.
He called it out when he fell backwards. With a loud oof he hit the hard floor. Opening his eyes a bit, he was greeted by a face looking down at him. Excitement reached him as he pointed heartly up to the man. – “You’re… you’re Strange!” – he exclaimed recognizing the same features of the man from your earth. – “That is doctor to you.” – Strange answered in a deep voice.
"Now get off my doorstep kid!” – Strange called out, ushering him away. – “No wait Sir!” – Peter replied waving his hands in front of him. Strange was about to close the door on him as Peter looked further back into the mansion. Stretching his arm out, he let out a web, letting himself be dragged inside right through Strange’s legs.
Strange stared stunned at the empty spot, turning his head rapidly back. – “How did you?” – he said both stunned and annoyed. Peter jumped to his feet. – “I need to talk to you.” – Peter started, panting a bit. – “Okay bye, bye kid.” – Strange said opening a portal that would flung itself at Peter. Peter gasped jumping up as he kept his hand on the ceiling. Strange’s portal passed right under him.
Strange looked surprised up to his ceiling, seeing the boy hang on it with just one hand. – “You are one annoying kid.” – Stephen sighed out. Peter dropped down on the ground. – “Listen sir… doctor.” – he corrected himself seeing the quirked eyebrow of Strange. – “I need your help. I need you to let me travel through one of your portals.” – Peter began.
Stephan laughed loud. – “I don’t have to do anything, and certainly not for breaking in kids like you.” – he pointed at Peter. Stephen turned away to a table to set himself a cup of coffee. – “Doctor please… I need to get to her earth.” – Peter explained with desperation.
Stephen spit out his coffee, turning a warningly eye at Peter. – “Did you just say her earth?” – he repeated to be sure, he had heard it correctly. – “Yes.” – Peter expressed approaching him. – “I need you to take me to her earth. You see I travelled through earths before… not so long ago some kid brought me to their earth.” – Peter explained further. Stephen hummed loud, scratching his jaw.
“I found out that someone from my earth is still alive there. She would’ve been here if it wasn’t for you!” – Peter accused. He swallowed nervously at the sudden stern glare from Strange. – “I mean your other you… not you doctor…” – Peter said to clarify. Stephen sat his cup down on the table.
“So you are telling me you travelled through earths and this other me… did this?” – Stephen asked so he was sure he understood. Peter nodded. Stephen hummed loud thoughtfully. – “So this other me travelled through parallel worlds?” – he asked.
“I don’t know… I guess… I did for sure.” – Peter replied. Stephen hummed again, deep in thoughts. – “Will… will you help me?” – Peter asked. Stephen grabbed Peter firm by the shoulder giving it a hard squeeze. – “First I need you to tell me everything!” – he led Peter further into the mansion. Peter swallowed nervously, suddenly not so sure of this man’s intentions, but he was his only hope to getting back to you. Peter explained his experience fully to him.
He told him about the portal. The other Spiderman, the villains, you. He told him everything. He explained his cause for him to understand better. – “So… so can you help me?” – Peter questioned nervously. Stephen stared at him. – “No…” – Strange answered getting up and turning his back to Peter. – “But you said!” – Peter called out, getting up as well.
“You said you’d help me!” – Peter tried to get Strange to stop walking away from him. – “Stop running!” – Peter shouted shooting a web at him. Strange’s hand got attached to the doorframe, stopping him from going any further. – “I need her! You… you have no idea what it’s like to lose someone!” – Peter called out angry that he was going to do nothing.
“I do!” – Strange replied harsh, looking over his shoulder to him. – “But… but earth travel…” – he wanted to turn more to Peter, but was prevented cause of the web. He cursed at the web, trying to pull it off. – “Get this thing off me!” – he yelled making Peter rush at him to help him free. – “Earth travel is a dangerous thing kid. It’s not because she died here, you can simply replace her with another copy.” – he told him.
“She’s not a copy!” – Peter made clear with a glare. Stephen moved his hands up as a way it wasn’t meant for him to get defensive. – “She won’t belong here. What do you think the people would say that knew her? Her family? Their daughter risen from the dead?” – Stephen explained trying to reason with him. – “I’ll just move to another city with her.” – he answered. – “It’s not that simple kid.” – Strange sighed out. – “Please… just let me try… I just need you to open a portal to her earth, allow me to get her and bring her here.”
“And how do you think you’ll get back? I have no glass orb that can see when you are ready to leave kid.” – Stephen said giving another stomp in Peter’s dreams. – “I…I don’t know…” – Peter sighed out letting himself fall in a seat. Stephen took a deep breath, approaching him. – “Look I get it kid, you would do anything to get her back, but it isn’t that easy. It could create some serious issues.” – Stephen went on to explain.
“You can’t save everybody, kid.” – Stephen placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder. – “I have… I have to try… I won’t forgive myself if I haven’t tried it at least.” – with desperation and sorrow, looked he up to Strange. Begging him to give him a try. To let him try it. – “Wouldn’t you try it if it was about the one you loved? Wouldn’t you give everything just to be with her again?”
“I would.” – Strange answered thinking back of Christine. The girl he let slip through his fingers because of his own mistakes. His own bitterness and rudeness had pushed her away. He took her for granted and now all was lost. Married off to someone else, that never could be him. Peter felt hopeful from Strange’s reaction. Stephen clapped loud in his hands. – “Alright kid! Let’s break through the walls of space.” – he announced.
Peter jumped back up following Strange with a new hope. It took them several days to get even close to their mission. Figuring out a good plan to get Peter in and out along with you. To find a way to travel through earths. Finally the day had come for their experiment. Peter stood ready, anxious to enter your world once more. – “Here.” – Strange said holding out a watch.
Peter accepted it questionable. – “It will allow you to open your own portal once you have her.” – he told him. – “Where did you get this?” – Peter asked. – “An ant gave it to me.” – Stephen answered with a chuckle, leaving Peter confused. Peter put on the watch over his spiderman suit.
“What earth was she on again?” – Stephen asked. – “Earth-199999.” – Peter replied, having remembered the numbers so thoughtfully. Stephen looked at the drawing Peter had made of the very place he entered your earth first. – “Let’s hope this works kid… if not… it was nice knowing you.” – he commented casually making Peter gulp. –“Thank… thank you Doctor.” – Peter said holding his hand out.
“Please…” – Stephen answered grabbing his hand to shake. – “Call me Stephen.” – Peter smiled feeling as if he had made an alley, perhaps even a friend. All those days spend with him using his wits on science and Strange’s wits on sorcery brought them closer. – “Ready?” – Stephen asked. Peter put his mask on. – “Ready.” – he breathed out.
Stephen moved his hands across, circling a portal open. Tiny sparks frizzled in the centre. It made Peter nervous and anticipating the moment he’d see you again. The sparks grew bigger as Peter took a deep breath. Slowly he could see the other side as he slowly started to recognize it. He smiled underneath his mask. This was it.
The portal grew wider as it was wide enough for him to step through. With one last deep breath, he stepped forwards, traveling through earths. On the other side sat Ned at the table, eating cereal. His jaw dropped as his spoon clattered against the bowl from having fallen out of his hands. Peter took off his mask upon seeing Ned. He looked around to see if it was the room he remembered.
It was just as he remembered. – “Ned!” – Peter called out excited. Ned’s eyes widened in fear. – “You… you know my name…” – he said stuttering. – “Yes, Ned It’s me Peter Parker… I was here not so long ago… well I’m not sure just how long with all that space jumping.” – Peter replied, muttering the last bit to himself. Ned pointed at Peter and let out a loud scream of help. It startled and confused Peter.
“No, no, Ned. It’s me.” – Peter answered as Ned’s chair fell as he backed away. Ned screamed again in fear. – “Ned!” – Peter called out moving closer to him. Ned took off as Peter shot a web out to him. Ned got stuck against the wall. – “Sorry.” – Peter apologized with his hands up. – “You were panicking Ned. I can’t have you panic.” – Peter went on, nearing Ned. – “I don’t have any money.” – Ned squeaked out, struggling against the web. Peter frowned. – “I don’t want your money.”
Peter sighed feeling as he wasn’t going anywhere with him. – “Look…” – Peter said pinching his nose bridge. – “Just tell me where I can find Y/n.” – Peter asked. – “Y/n? What do you want with Y/n?” – Ned questioned suddenly less fearful. – “Are you going to use her for your evil plan?” – Ned called out. – “Evil plan? What no Ned!” – Peter answered confused. – “I am just looking for her.” – Ned turned his head. – “I won’t tell you anything villain!” – Ned shouted, confusing Peter more.
He started to realize something might be wrong, but he had no time for it. – “Just tell me where she is!” – he called out desperately grabbing a hold of Ned. Ned sobbed out the address. Peter thanked Ned, releasing him once again before going after you. He shot out a web, flying above the city between the buildings to reach his destination sooner. Excitement took over as he felt himself smile. Finally he was going to be reunited with you again. His pride and glory.
Peter dropped down on the ground, staring at you through the window. There you were. Just within reach. Sitting down in a small coffee shop surrounded by books. Taking a deep breath, he let himself in. Not caring one bit if people stared at his costume without the mask. He neared your table. You sensed someone approaching, slowly looking up. – “Hi.” – he spoke almost fragile. – “Hi.” – you responded. The person smiled saddened.
You kept smiling at him, till it felt a bit awkward. – “I’m sorry, am I taking in your spot?” – you asked. Peter’s smile dropped, shaking his head confused. – “What.. no…” – he sputtered out. He had expected you to jump in his arms. To be rejoiced at his return, yet you remained seated. Staring a bit strange at him. – “Y/n… it’s me.. Peter… Peter Parker.” – he said feeling silly to remind you of it. You tilted your head a bit with furrowed brows.
You then laughed loud. – “Funny joke. You look nothing like that nerd Peter Parker. Also what’s with the costume? It’s far from Halloween.” – you told him. Peter blinked confused back at you. – “Don’t… don’t you remember?” – he asked softly. – “Remember what?” – you questioned. – “Me?” – Peter pointed at himself with desperation. You smiled soft. – “I think I would remember meeting someone like you, but I don’t… sorry…” – you replied.
Peter turned around with a disappointed exhale. Why didn’t you remember him? Unless… - “Strange’s spell.” – Peter blurted out.

★ You've heard just about every rumor concerning you. The ideas that people had about you and how they perceived you. You were often described as mean-looking, intimidating or even off-putting.
★ You didn't try correcting them either, it didn't particularly bother you. It bothered Peter, though. He'd always tell you how he didn't like the way people saw you, and made it his daily mission to correct any person unfortunate enough to say anything bad about you in his presence.
★ He defended your honor better than you did yourself, and in return he'd always get the same replies:
"She seems so mean, though." "What do you two have in common anyway?" "Does she ever talk?"
★ Yes, he'd think. You do talk, a lot actually, though that was usually reserved for your closest friends and family, a group Peter fortunately found himself in. He knew everyone else knew she talked too, they'd see her talking with Peter every morning when they make their way through school, her soft hand in his as she rambled about whatever lay heavy on her heart.
★ And he'd listen attentively, giving pointers where he thought necessary and laughing at the joke or two you'd always throw in. He'd walk you to whatever class you have, greeting you goodbye with a chaste yet affectionate hug. You'd spare him a small smile, and as soon as you made your way into class, the smile would disappeared, giving those around you slight whiplash at the sudden change.
★ A party wasn't something you often found yourself at, the idea alone enough to deter you completely. You much rather preferred the company of your boyfriend, him being one of the few people you enjoyed being around. In this way you were similar, because he himself wasn't the most social person around and he understood that you didn't always want to be around a lot of people, so he'd never say no to night in with his favorite person.
★ He brought the best out of you; one of the few people fortunate enough to experience your unabashed humor and personality, and relish in your affection--reserved just for him. In return he doted on you; dousing you in an ocean of unconditional love and utter adoration. Perhaps this was his way of telling you he admired you, just as you are; regardless of whoever's opinion of you. Because in all honesty, when did Peter ever care about anyone's opinion?
a/n: might write a bit more on this bc this is so little.
