some Leo headcanons I have

Leo doesn't know what day his birthday is. He knows its in July, but he hasn't done anything on it since he was 8 and he used to act like it was/wasn't on certain days based on how well they went (he thinks its the 7th, but he hates the number 7 so he ignores it).

Leo has stolen and crashed a police car. He will do it again.

Leo's mother and Aunt Rosa both had dreams from Gaea that told them Leo was going to kill Esperanza, but Esperanza took it as an "he'll do it on accident bc he doesn't know how to control his powers" and Rosa took it as "It's a sign from God and this child was sent by the devil".

He's asexual biromantic, but in love with the idea of being in love.

He learns a form of script-based magic - the same thing that is etched on each stone used for the Hecate cabin. Jo is his teacher, but when he visits camp all of the Hecate cabin are happy to help him too. He views it as a code instead of magic, and only ever uses it in the things he builds because he forgets it can be useful on its own.

He's a Fall out Boy stan. Loves all types of rock too, but FOB was his gateway into it.

Every time he went to a new school if they had a music program he could join for free he would. Originally he'd just choose a new instrument every school, but on his third try he learnt drums and decided to stick with it.

HIs eyes look like yooperlite while it's glowing, but more like burning coals while he's using his powers.

On that note, Leo's body temperature can be way hotter than the normal person's. On a normal day where he's fine in everyway, he's hot but not hot enough for people to think he's feverish. When he's excited his temperature rapidly increases, as it does with stress. When he forgoes sleeping his body forgets to regulate his temperature, which leads to him either going very cold or very hot.

He can't really get fevers at all really. It's also very hard for a lot of illnesses to effect him because half the time he burns it up before he even knows its there. When he does get sick it's really bad though, because his immune system is actually pretty weak.

Related to that, he is the only known person who can currently be a theoretical host to a thermophile virus. Not that he would, but it is a thought that has crossed his mind.

He has a hobby of making little robots. He makes Piper a bronze eagle one as a present and he slowly starts to make them for his friends

Annabeth gets a cat because he thinks she has cat vibes and an owl would be basic. Percy gets an otter because Leo did not want to think about making a robot fish that works well out of water. Frank gets a chameleon as a joke, but he makes it so it can turn into a small dragon too. Hazel gets a snake, again for the vibes. Nico gets a lizard. Just like, a nondescript lizard. He makes Reyna a bronze dog to "complete the metal set", but it's based of a Molossus of Epirus instead of a hound. Jo and Emmie get matching gryphons, and Georgina's little robot is a llama. Leo makes himself a wolf in honour of Jason.

On the topic of making things, Leo also gets really into all forms of metalsmithing. Which includes making jewellery, which leads to him getting a lot of piercings. Piper does too, because they went to go get the piercings together. He loves giving people little friendship bracelets, and charms, and ornaments. He makes people themed cutlery sets.

His love language is gift giving, if it's not obvious.

He stays in contact with Apollo, but in order to not upset Zeus they frame it as 'music lessons'. As the inventor of the Valdezinator (and its best player), it's a pretty good excused. Leo does make new instruments occasionally when they feel like they're pushing the 'lesson' excuse.

They fr just gossip during them though, and then give each other a scuffed form of therapy. They go from talks about petty drama to unanswerable philosophical discussions to jokes that make no sense.

Jack in the Box Headcanons

He makes you go with him to his Crave Van, and make you do the driving, and he would be very impressive by your crashing skills

He is the type of person to buy any food related plushies and give half of them to you and the other half for himself

If you ask him if you can snuggle your head to his chest at night, he would let you do it ALL the time

If he turns drunk, he will say "i love you" multiple times to you, and he wouldn't remember all of that, and would say "i love you" to you again right after

His first kiss with you is at the lake that you and Jack go to every weekend to hang out often

He says a lot of pick up lines to you, and sometimes you would be flustered by them, or cringe at them, but still appreciate his love for you

If you two work together at the same business, he would call you multiple time to go to his office, and he would give you lots of kisses, and hug you multiple times

When both of you do movie nights together, and if you fell asleep first, Jack carries you in a bridal pose to bring you back to the bedroom

If you both have children, Jack is the fun guy while you are the comforter to the children

In christmas day, he is likely to ask you and the children what both of you want for christmas, since he is canonly friends with Santa Claus

If he sees you eat a burger from any fast food restaurant besides his own, he would think you are mad at him and he would try anything that makes you happy

And if he is the one that angry, you would just give multiple kisses on his cheek, and if he feels better, your final kiss would be on his lips

If you flirt with him too many times, he would be a red atenna ball

He knows you like him shirtless, so whenever your feeling down or upset, he would go shirtless around you, exept when the children are around

He knows you like nature so much, so he would take you on morning walks in the garden together

If both of you play 1v1 games and Jack lost in one of the rounds, he wouldn't talk to you for 20 minutes, until he admits he isn't that mad at you

He makes those Friendship bracelets for you, and both of you wear it everyday, until Jack makes a new one

If you are an artist, he would make himself your muse, and there would be multiple paintings about him, and he also put them to his office at work

skip to loafer once again reming us that romantic love isn’t the only way to love someone wholeheartedly.

i’m extremely happy that we finally have the girl’s reaction about shima and mitsumi’s relationship, but what makes me even happier is the way mitsumi is treating the whole break up and the way she’s always taking care of the people she love.

we all know how hard it was for her to open up with the girls, afraid that they would, somehow, treat shima differently. for her, what mattered the most was her friendship with him and how much she cared for him and his well being, not romantic love or anything like that.

to see this on a teenage slice of life series is SO meaningful and SO important. it really highlight the importance of platonic feelings and how valid they are, about how it’s important to love someone for who they are, and not something exclusively romantic.

exactly what makoto wanted to say: to love someone (with “a capital L”) is to hope they are happy, content, being treated right and comfortable with who they are, whit what they are feeling. that what it means to love someone, not something only based on romantic feelings.

why does it matter so much if they broke up if they are still friends that care a lot about each other? why would they risk losing something so important for them when their own feelings were so hard to understand? why not love someone platonically?

i’m just so overwhelmed with happiness. it means so much to me that mistumi was able to open up and REALLY get in touch with her feelings and her ONW well being. she’s not being selfish, she’s not playing with anyone’s feelings: she’s focusing on what she believes is right and what makes her and the ones she love happy. do we really need something rather than their own joy? if any romantic feeling is to grow, it has to come calmly and with clear feelings. i’m extremely happy for her.

other thing that brings me immense joy is how important the friendship between the girls are and how celebrated it is. to see them together, ready to share everything, making friendship bracelets, loving each other endlessly…how gorgeous this is. how meaningful. how strong.

i hope the message of “loving someone for who they are” that skip to loafer loves to emphasize will continue for a long time — and hope that it will keep on growing. i’m proud of my darling girl, proud of how wonderful she is. wish nothing but happiness for her.

well, it would be weird if i didn’t talk about shima, right? i mean, this is my thread and all…i need to talk about him. it’s clear how shaken he is after his talk with mukai over the break and how he’s still thinking about his own feelings in relation to mitsumi and himself.

it’s hard for him to understand it all and i hope he keeps on swimming on this feeling for some time until he’s confident enough with it. i don’t want to see him making the same mistakes again and hurting himself and other people. i want him to get truly in touch with his heart.

this will be an amazing and incredible adventure to read. i can’t wait to see love flourishing between all of these amazing kids. can’t wait to see them growing, to see them sparkling. wish them nothing but happiness! 💛

fig: fig is short. 5'2" max. sorry to tall fig enjoyers but i know my truth. i think she LOOKS taller bc platform boots and horns but that girl is little. i know this to be true, in my heart. emily axford told me.

adaine: dear headcanon to me actually i think that adaine has the worst pottymouth of the group. she temporarily loses that title for the first while shes living w jawbone bc shes testing the waters but as soon as shes comfortable she begins living her truth again. jawbone thinks its hilarious

riz: i WOULD say him being aroace but that is not a headcanon its simply canon so 💜 anyway for this one im projecting but i think riz eats oatmeal almost completely dry like the smallest amount of water in there. if its even a little bit watery or theres like visible liquid he wont have a bite. ALSO bonus bc riz is my fav, i think both he and sklonda are big slippers wearers around the house, her immediately coming home and him once he knows hes In for the night.

ZERO DAY/CALDRE HCS

•Andre fell for Cal pretty quickly. It was a mix of Cals ‘pretty blonde boy’ looks, Andre being a loner with no real friends beforehand, and Cal just getting him in a way no one ever really has before.

•Andre introduced Cal to more heavy music. Andre likes industrial metal while Cal had only really liked grunge before. Cal also shows Andre some grunge songs. They’ll make playlists for each other every now and then.

•Cals really good at making bracelets (real ones or just those kid friendship type bracelets). He’s made countless ones for Andre. (Andre mostly wears the first one Cal ever gave him)

Andre has tried making them too but once he even gets slightly frustrated, he gives up and just tosses it into Cals lap to finish for him.

•Kinda related to prev point, Cal likes doing DIY clothes/jewelry stuff in general. It gives him something to focus on other than wanting to die all the time 💀 One of his favorite things he’s made is a bracelet made out of the tabs off of Monster Energy cans. (Andre is honestly jealous he doesn’t have one.)

•Andre had a skateboarding phase. He kinda gave up on it halfway thru the ZD plans but he did try to teach Cal how to skateboard. (No it wasn’t a excuse to touch him while trying help him steady himself on the board.. okay fr it wasn’t. Cal just wanted to try it out since he saw Andre owned a few skateboards)

Cal is a bit of a giggler so he couldn’t take Andre too seriously when he was trying to give him actually helpful advice on how to skateboard.

•If Andre was in a particularly good mood while driving, he’d sing along loudly to whatever was playing on the radio. Cal would just shake his head with a smile.

•Cal tossed around the idea of working at hot topic for a while but for some reason or another, never applied. Andres secretly disappointed bc he would have liked if Cal had a employees discount.

•When Cals really bored & just feeling ‘off’, he’ll cut different shapes and stuff on himself. He’s done stuff like hearts & a butterfly. He’ll also do words or letters like ZD, A (for Andre :P), and because he’s a Manson fan.. I think he did Marilyn Mansons MM logo at least once. What a emo /j

•Both of them like thriller & horror movies but when it comes to TV shows they are a bit different. Andre likes stuff like Ghost Hunters & shows where they try to find Bigfoot (bc hes a very imaginative guy 💀) while Cal likes game shows where he can yell out answers & go on about how the contestants are stupid with Andre. He’s also kinda interested in cooking shows which Andre hates since they’re ‘too boring’.

•Neither of them are huge readers really but if they find a book or magazine that’s interesting, they’ll let the other borrow it.

•Andre steals knives & blades out of Cals room when he’s not looking but Cal never says anything. They both know Cal will just find a way to cut somehow but Andre still does it anyways (and since Andre will ultimately do whatever Cal wants at the end of the day, If cal asks for one of his knives back enough, Andre will give it back)

•Andre is sooooo the type to punch walls. He won’t do it at home really since he doesn’t want his parents worrying about him so it leads him to like.. punching brick walls outside which is much worse for his knuckles lol. But of course Cals there to bandage it up later.

•Cal is diagnosed with a few different things but won’t really bring it up unless it really needs to be. Andre knows all of his diagnoses tho and Cal will joke that Andre has the same things (depression, autism, adhd, etc) Andre will joke that he’s perfectly fine.

•Andre kept a good amount of his toy action figures from his childhood. They are in a box in his closet.

•Cals a bit of creep because sometimes at sleepovers, he just stares at Andre sleeping. He does it without even anything going on in his mind. He’s just enamored by him. Andre has caught him doing it a few times and just groans and rolls over or tosses a pillow at Cals face

This reference sheet has been in the makes for around 2 months or so now, it's honestly been really slow progress due to me starting my first ever job ontop of ADHD. I noticed that my ADHD symptoms have been worsening due to getting a job, and I currently do not have access to medication or anything of the sort. Regardless, this character is a love letter to myself; over the past year or so I have been trying to come to terms with who or what I am. I'm going to be honest, this really means accepting that there are some things that I cannot put a label on. I wrote Bigender on the reference because I think it comes close to describing what I experience, but I honestly could not write it down in a comprehensible way, nor could I do this with my sexuality, seeing how closely it ties to my autism, and how I navigate intimacy. Just have fun with it. The past few months I have really developed a love for bovids, and I think that has been a very big step in accepting myself as well. People kinda look at a lot of them as dumb or unassuming or even dangerous, they are a little frightened and sometimes see them as gross or unsightly or dumb. I relate to this... they're big and gentle and cute to me though. And I think that I am similar to this. I feel like a cow a lot, or maybe a deer, or goat, or sheep... I don't know too much about them just yet, but I admire them so much. Please follow @bovineblogger SO many great posts. And while you are at it...please follow my close friends... @angelkids @thathandsomeangel @dragonboness. They have been here with me for maybe 6 years now as my best friends. They have watched me explore, and they have supported me for so long. It's mentioned in the ID, but the friendship bracelets my fursona is wearing are all based off of them. They are the greatest. I'd also like to mention that my sona would always have to be a mixture of animals. I feel like a lot of animals, personally, and though I don't use labels like therian or otherkin much, I feel like understanding those experiences would help anyone understand a little more how I feel about bovids, dragons, birds, etcetera. I hope that if you took the time to read this, you understand how much this process meant to me. I have been trying my best to understand the world around me and myself in turn, and I hope that you can as well. The best way to fight fear is with your undying curiosity. It pays off so well. Thinking about little Spider in a dragon au. He’s the only human child and is so jealous when the Sully kids start collecting stuff for their hoards because he wants one too! But he doesn’t have that instinct that the others have, he doesn’t have an ancient dragon-y voice in the back of his head telling him what to hoard or even how to properly hoard at all.

Cue baby Spider trying to be all sneaky, assessing each of the Sully kids’ hoards individually to see what feels right for him.

Neteyam’s hoard is probably the neatest hoard Spider has ever had the pleasure of laying his eyeballs on. Carefully crafted arrow heads, brilliantly colored fish scales, a wind instrument of some kind—random stuff (or at least to a human eye; according to Norm all dragons see the specific spark that links everything in their hoard together) all organized in some needlessly particular way that Spider still doesn’t understand completely. Neteyam’s hoard is nice, but doesn’t call out to Spider. He moves on.

Hmm, Kiri’s hoard seems interesting. Dried flowers, random paintings, several baskets of mushrooms and nuts and seeds, homemade jewelry, and river rocks of various shapes and sizes. They’re all scattered haphazardly around her “den,” though none of them touch her “nest” (these terms puzzle Spider because he’s pretty sure their dens are just rooms and nests just really unkempt beds, but Norm and the other researchers assure him that there’s more to it than that). The vibe is nice but upon further thought none of these things really feel like anything Spider himself finds worth hoarding. Time to give Lo’ak a try.

Lo’ak’s hoard is. . . Interesting. A baseball sans the accompanying bat, several mixtapes that he highly doubts the boy has ever actually listened to given their current location being the middle of absolutely nowhere, several arrowheads that match the ones in Neteyam’s hoard, a few feathers, some shiny rocks, a few homemade friendship bracelets, and a few more random trinkets (Norm says it’s not uncommon for young dragons to hoard a bunch of random things until they find the right fit). It still doesn’t feel right to Spider.

He then proceeds to mope about it until he realizes something. Surely a hoard doesn’t have to be material things, right? If a hoard is a collection of what is most valuable, then surely the Sully kids can be be his hoard, right?

Yeah, that makes sense to Spider.

(And unbeknownst to him, he’s part of all of their hoards too.)

Ooh, this is interesting! It's also incredibly adorable, I grinned when I read those last two lines!! I'll admit, this is an au that I don't know much about. Are they actually dragons or are they ~dragons~ like in those werewolf aus where they just have a wolf in the back of their heads that says stuff and then they have senses but they aren't wolves, idk. Maybe.... shapeshifting into dragons? I don't know.

EITHER WAY, I love the hoard stuff. The idea of them all seeing a specific spark that links all their stuff, and Neteyam's specifically is this reasonable bunch of highly related stuff and then also this human child. Hilarious.

BUT CONSIDER: Is he in Jake and Neytiri's hoard? Just imagine. Neytiri, pissed that there's a human child of their enemy she doesn't want anything to do with, but as soon as she sets eyes on him theres that spark. He fits with the other kids in the family part of her hoard. And well, that's ridiculous, and she's kicks him out for dinner or something, but then it feels so wrong. She's always angrily putting Spider next to Kiri and Neteyam like "sit here" and then shoving food at him. She's always pissily stomping over to him to tuck him into his hammock that she furiously installed after one night he was sick at Hells Gate for a week and her dragon was ENRAGED that a piece of the hoard was missing for so long. Just rage caring for him because she has to lol.

Gift. Giver. He buys you so many things. Not even just expensive things but still expect designer and luxury brands especially if you’ve shown an interest. Even when he’s not having a hundred roses delivered to your place, or a one of a kind necklace that costs more than your rent for the next, uh, year, he’s getting you silly little knickknacks. Like capsule toy machine things or handmade friendship bracelets. He just loves getting you things!

He travels a lot and often can’t take you with him (something that he laments loudly and frequently) so he sends you a ton of pictures and wants to video chat with you so he can “take you along” even when you’re not actually there.

He is allegedly good at everything so he will try to cook for you if he has something abroad that he thinks you would like. This man would go through several recipes (if he can’t just talk his way into the original recipe that is) to perfect it before letting you taste test it.

No shame about his status and resources, he will pull strings in the background to get you that promotion or internship or tickets to a sold out show or limited edition things. He lets you know how he helped you for certain things, but for other things he’ll keep quiet. He doesn’t want you to feel like he’s just going to do Everything for you, but if he thinks your boss is being unfair to you? Yeah, he’s gonna step in and make sure you get a fair chance.

Also he’s just a big cuddly teddy bear and will always be holding on to you in some way. It’s especially comforting if you’re feeling anxious or scared because you know he’s there!

Nanami:

This is low hanging fruit as a Nanami related hc but he cooks for you. If you hate cooking, have a busy schedule, can’t cook, have dietary restrictions, etc, he’s packing you lunches for the week so you eat healthy. He might not be able to give up gluten as a bread lover, but he will help make gluten free bread-adjacent things for you.

He’s a very good listener. He’ll let you vent for as long as you need and not just try to solve anything unless you ask for it. He’s really holding back, honestly, but he respects that sometimes all you need is to complain.

Also a gift giver but not over the top like Gojo is. Choso:

He’s very protective of you, not in a “i’m gonna fist fight anyone who looks at you” way but like, he’s smushed up against you at all times. He’s holding your hand. He’s pulling you into a different section of the store because someone’s vibes were off and he doesn’t trust them. He’s not some toxic brute, but he’s very aware of potential threats to you and just can’t turn that off.

He will send you pictures of random things that he thinks you’ll like. Like you’ll get a picture of a flower or a cloud or a dog and there’s no context, no comment. Maybe the cloud was just particularly fluffy or maybe he thought it looked like a sheep and you would think it’s cute. You just do not know.

When he’s away from you, he’s gathering Info on places you might like to see. They might even be super insignificant like looking up at someone’s balcony planters or like there was a deer walking at the edge of the woods here, maybe if we wait we’ll see it again... This cafe sells a drink in your favorite color, this place had a singular pair of socks that would keep you warm-

He also tells you all about his brothers and he doesn’t say it, but he’s very warm inside at the idea of you meeting them one day.

Joe: Mac and Joe hanging out would be 1 of 2 options. Either they're going to a small bookstore and then a coffee shop just to chill n read. Or Mac is dragging Joe to his friend's house so they can all watch scurry movies with his goth buds. No in between and both enjoy both options equally.

Kaiser: Field trip. Literally, that's it. Kaiser would treat Mac like one of his students and take him to a museum or something. Mind you, it isn't a BORING museum- probably something sports related if anything- but it's not exactly what Mac pictured when he asked to hang out. They also get pizza and ice cream for lunch :)

Disco: Hanging out at Disco's place and just playing. They spend most of the time being silly with instruments and then wind down with some Mario party or something.

Hippo: Mac would end up learning a new language OR they'd end up playing with all of Hippo's hot wheels. Hippo is a big linguistics guy and Mac likes to listen to people talk so Mac would just end up sitting quietly the whole time while Hippo infodumps stuff at him. Hippo would also feed him and let him play with the hot wheels in his house if he's careful.

Hondo: They'd make cosplays and watch anime together! Mac's a p observant guy so he'd pick up on Hondo's sewing machine, ask about it, and they'd end up building some Naruto stuff from spare fabric from there. Lotsa fun!! They'd also go to a bunch of sushi restruants and try all they're stuff- til they're sick at least lol.

Bear: Hiking and magic animal adventures the whole way! Mac's a city kid through and through so the woods freak him out a bit- good thing Bear and his animal friends are there to ease his fears! Mac also ends up learning a lot about the ecosystem and plant life around where Bear lives so bonus points for cool learning stuff.

Tiger: Tiger would probably bore Mac with trying to teach him chess at first before switching to showing him how he makes his music. He'd also convince the boy to watch mlp with him and they'd just binge it until Doc calls asking where his boy is. Tiger would probably accidentally teach Mac poker. Whoops.

Don: Don would take him to a street fair or a market and IMMEDIATELY lose him. He'd spend the next 5 hours trying to hunt him down and end up finding him less than a foot of where he last saw him. After that, hand-holding is mandatory. They'd also get gelato together and watch Carmen do her clown shtick (Don won't shut up about how wonderful she is lol)!

Aran: Aran would treat him like one of his younger siblings and keep a hard eye on him. He'd take mac to an age and sensory appropriate place, so probably an art fair or a festival that he can easily escape if he needs to. He also makes sure Mac is fed a hearty meal, drinks water, and has as much fun as possible. No way in hell is he gonna get caught being an irresponsible adult when they're together. He's also teach Mac an artsy thing or two (Basic painting, welding, sculpting, etc.)

Soda: Soda would definitely be an irresponsible adult around Mac and overfill him with fun things. They'd go to a big ass amusement or water park together, eat nothing but soda and sugar, and they'd fuck around until they're left overstimulated and sick. Doc and/or Bull has to come and pick them up.

Bull: Inside activities ONLY. No way is Bull going out. But they end up having fun with puzzles and making friendship bracelets. They play Mario kart and then some more chill games and get pizza too!

Macho: Swimming all day for sure. Mac doesn't know how to swim so Macho ends up having to teach him the basics but they have fun either way. And after they're all done and sunburnt, they go inside and play halo and drink capri sun until Doc picks Mac up.

Sandy: Another responsible adult! He wouldn't have much of a plan per se, so him and Mac would end up goofing off in random parts of whatever city they're in- going to parks, the zoo, a museum, whatever until they're tuckered out.

"I'm gonna kill him." Declares Vance. Glaring at the phone still in Argyle's hand as he happily talked to Robin...His cousin.

"No your not." Says Finney, firmly the two have a staring contest for a few seconds before Vance huffs and looks away.

"Fine."

"I am going to give him the silent treatment though." Added Finney, Vance's glare melted into an amused smirk.

"He's gonna wish you let me kill him." Nods Vance to himself. If there was one person Robin loved to talk to, it was Finney.

"Eh he'll get over it. That's what he gets for not telling me he had family here." Says Finney though there's a devious smile on his face.

"Times like this I see how you and Gwen are related." Says Vance.

"Who's Gwen?" Asks Dustin, eyes sharp like a hawk. "My little sister." Answers Finney with a small smile. "You have a sister?" Asks Max, looking sad.

Finney smiles warmly at her, silently conveying that doesn't mean she isn't one to him.

"I dunno about sister, maybe escaped demon." Says Vance, Max grins deviously "oh?" Vance looks at her, hands out like he's taking a photo.

"Don't tell me she has a twin."

Finney chuckles "honestly, if Gwen was a red head they'd be almost like twins."

Vance looks Max up and down "You ever throw a rock at a guys head and call him a dumb fucking fart knocker?"

Max looked him up and down with a grin "not yet." Vance nods, approvingly. "Oh yeah she's definitely Gwen's long lost twin."

"What is with the Harrington family and violent tendancies?" Asks Eddie, Vance shrugs helplessly. "Beats me, their like natural born scrappers."

Finney swats him with a pointed look.

"You of all people do not get to say I have violent tenancies when the first time I met you you were being escorted by the police out of Grab and Go."

Everyone looks at Vance in suprise.

"Oh? Do share with the class" Says Eddie, looking between Finney and Vance with glee.

Luckily for Vance, Hopper who had left to go help Joyce with the dishes, reappeared.

"Jane, Vance we're heading out."

El huffs, getting her stuff and saying her goodbyes. "Guess you'll have to wait." Says Vance to Eddie who sighs wistfully.

Finney hugs Vance close.

"See you tomorrow."

Vance momentarily froze before hugging him back.

"Yeah, I'll see you." He says, ruffling Finney's hair, picking up his bag and heading out.

Behind him he could hear the others, Dustin's demands as to why Vance was allowed to touch Steve's hair.

"You try it Henderson, I dare you!"

Vance laughed, trying to ease the anxiety that was creeping in his veins as he got into Hopper's car.

He felt his breathing pick up and pulled out a comic from his bag though he was having trouble concentrating on it.

Before he knew it the car started and the Byers house had faded behind them.

He didn't think of how much it would hurt to leave Finney behind.

'Get a grip, your gonna see him tomorrow.'

im sure including other old songs from old albums would be loved by older carpenters/long time stans, or even referencing alone together (track 11 in my heart) or smoke and fire (my beloved) like the non album singles that sometimes dont get mentioned as often could be a cool throwback!

you could also reference something like from the feather music video (for example) like the caskets saying "rip bitch" or the photo that said "he was just ok" on the tombstone

a few blogs were fucking around having food discourse (specifically about milk funny enough) earlier in the night but nothing was really taking off and people had mostly gone to bed

queue the obvious question. what does platypus milk taste like

(here’s my claim to fame in the cult: nobody fucking knows. the only written record i can find of it on google is this guy richard owen (inventor of the word dinosaur, certified weirdo in MANY ways) who tasted, get this, the milk from a taxidermied platypus. he said it tasted mostly like nothing and a little bit like the alcohol-y scent of preservatives. i can rant about this for hours.)

(further research has yielded that platypus milk is high in fat, and thus naturally much more creamy than cow milk. this is still just an educated guess though nO ONE HAS TASTED IT AND THEN DESCRIBED IT ON THE INTERNET)

so that gets tossed around a bit and lots of very silly barely comprehensible jokes were made about everything and anything platypus related and it all had big like. sleepover past midnight everyone has lost their MINDS energy

Let's state the obvious first: becoming friends with Xiangling means you're going to be trying a lot of food. You're her number one taste tester (other than herself and Guoba, of course) whenever she makes a new dish! She'll never force you to eat anything you're not comfortable with, of course, and she always takes the very first bite of her cooking experiments. There will be several times that she'll snatch the food away before you can even taste it, insisting that it turned out horribly and you shouldn't subject your tastebuds to such a tragedy.

She would absolutely love for you to help her in her cooking endeavors, too! If you also enjoy cooking, she's more than happy to share the kitchen with you, though she can be a little bit particular about things, especially with her new dishes - everything must be prepared in just the right way to bring out the best flavor, after all! You two can definitely get some quality bonding time in while preparing meals together, sharing advice and making jokes the whole time you cook.

If you don't want to cook with her, that's perfectly fine too! She doesn't mind at all. You can always help her gather the best ingredients for her dishes! After all, that's far more time-consuming than the cooking part, so you'll have plenty of time to chat while you forage for the best ingredients. She'll especially appreciate it if you can help her with hunting, regardless if her sights are set on boar or slimes!

You'll also receive so many gifts of food from her as you become close! She'll memorize your tastes because you're important to her, and she takes great care to master your favorite foods. She also invents new dishes she thinks you'll like!

Xiangling obviously loves everything related to food and cooking, but that's not everything you do together. She also enjoys traveling and experiencing new things with you! She has such an adventurous spirit and she would be so fun to explore with! She's constantly pointing out interesting things to you as you travel together.

Plus, Guoba is so cute! Hanging out with Xiangling means you get to see him a lot. He doesn't talk, but he's very sweet! He listens intently whenever you talk to him and responds with simple gestures. He's also more than happy to help carry things for you on your adventures, and he often brings you and Xiangling pretty things he finds along the way!

I also feel like Xiangling would be the type to make you friendship bracelets or something similar. She would make you something more permanent than food to show how much she values your friendship! It could be a bracelet, or it could be matching charms on necklaces, whatever you'd prefer. She'd probably also make a matching one for Guoba!

All in all I feel like you'd have a very wholesome friendship, and you'd be such good friends!

I'm just a girl.

Maybe it starts with your first catcall on the street. Maybe it starts with your first period, your first bra or the first time you ask your parents to let you go out with your friends without supervision. I’m not quite sure, but I do know that once it starts, it doesn’t really end. You begin to notice, for example, your male friends’ behavior. And not in a sudden-crush-that-makes-me-aware-of-every-interaction way. It’s more about how he moves so freely, unburdened by the gaze of every adult or fellow teenager, who won’t judge if his skirt is too short, or he knows how to do make-up, or how he hangs out with too many men, or talks too much, or if he stuffs his bra, or, or, or…

You’re also overcome with a sudden existential dread. To be a woman is to perform, they say, and they are not wrong. You long for the days when you didn’t check what you ate at a family reunion. You long for when you didn’t cry every year on your birthday; for the time before you noticed how cruel the world had been to your mother and cower at the thought of suffering the same cruel fate, shouldering the same burdens.

And one day, you also become aware of your parents’ existence. Of course, they’ve always been there, but all of a sudden, their presence in your life has a weigh. Your mother becomes your greatest ally and your worst enemy. She’ll buy you that little black dress and whisper conspiratorially not to tell your father; but she’ll also tell you to mind your waist, so it still fits in a few years. And even when she doesn’t actually say anything, you’ll still watch the way she looks at herself in the mirror, how she never eats seconds, is always worried about her legs being waxed and buys every anti-wrinkle cream in existence. You begin to replicate those same harmful behaviors that you resent her for, you too tweeze every single eyebrow hair if you must, and decline dessert after dinner because that’s how you were raised, even if it was unintentional.

And just when you think that you’ve come to live with the harrowing, soul-draining experience of being a teenage-girl, it ends. Or it doesn’t. You turn 20, 25, 30, 48, 65 and yet it lingers. You’re still hyper-aware of your surroundings, you still watch how the men in your life are praised for carrying one third of the baggage you handle on a daily basis, you still feel the needle of the scale in the back of your brain every once in a while, and you still choose the loosest blouse and pants for dinner with your friends.

You realize people begin to sigh instead of smiling knowingly at your antics, so you joke. “I’m just a girl”, you say humorously when they judge your “obsession” with a certain artist. But it’s not a joke at all. You are just a girl, when you’re 23 and drowning out your birthday candles with your tears, when you walk behind your friends to check if they’ve leaked, when you use your brush as a microphone and belt out lyrics you relate to on a bone-deep level. Because when all is said and done, every Barbie doll you got for Christmas, every first kiss, every first drink and every friendship bracelet stay with you. It sticks to your skin and becomes a shared experience with every girl friend you make and leave behind. Thankfully, even if you feel like you are isolated and completely unrelatable, you’ll never be alone on that feeling, because there will always be someone else who knows what it’s like to be a teenage girl.
