Fallout Casting for Satoru "Kakashi-sensei" Gojojojo for Jujutsu Kaisen Abridged react fic
Tumblr media
"Five bucks and I'll tongue punch your fart box." - Satoru Gojo, Episode 3 JJK Abridged (by The Schmuck Squad).
Tumblr media
Reasons To Why I Believe These Characters Should Be Cast As The Variant of JJK Abridge's Satoru Gojo are listed below the cut:
Elrand Brandt (Fallout Vault Dweller OC, faceclaim Jason Statham) -> In his twenties and had told the Master to kill himself.
Finidy Mona (Fallout 2 Chosen One OC, faceclaim Jessica Alba) -> "Chosen One" will be as close to "Honored One" as Fallout will get.
Alph Dolen (Fallout 3 Lone Wanderer OC, faceclaim Sam Blackensee. Has transformed into a Ghoul) -> Fawkes talked about how it was his destiny to save Project Purity and his hopes and dreams died in his early twenties.
Raul Alfonso Tejada (a ghoul mechanic that helps out Ryder in Fallout New Vegas, follows her around after she saved him on Black Mountain and is inspired to pick up his guns again to protect those of lesser fortune) -> He's badass and voiced by Danny Trejo. Also got very father-figure vibes going on. And lost a young female companion (his sister) like Gojo had (Riko) whom they were both trying to protect.
Nate Gust Sarid (Fallout 4 Sole Survivor OC, faceclaim Steven He. He is a Synthetic Human) -> The SPECIAL cheat stats make a lot more sense with him given the context that he's a synth, which could be similar to Gojo's cheat skills in general. Not to mention they're both (basically) fathers (Shaun for Nate and Yuji & Megumi for Gojo).
Vega (Fallout 76 Resident OC, faceclaim Yvonne Strahovski. Has transformed into a Super Mutant) -> Both are selfish and have unbreakable egos.
Tycho (from Fallout, a Nevada ranger who's wandered the Wasteland of California, he helps Elrand beat Gizmo and takes on the Master's Super Mutant army) -> Hides his face and a total all around badass.
Roger Westin (from Fallout 2, an NCR congressman fighting against the corruption within the New California Republic with underhanded tactics to build a peaceful, civil expansion into the north) -> Badass breaking the rules to do the right thing.
Butch DeLoria (from Fallout 3, Alph's former childhood bully in Vault 101, now one of his closest allies after the Lone Wanderer saved the life of Butch's mother from Radroaches. After Alph and Amata we're run out of the Vault, Butch helped build up the rebellion against Overseer Almodovar, and had managed to slip out of the vault to get Alph and Amata's help. After resolving the issue, Butch joined up with Alph and Amata to wander the Capital Wasteland, becoming the founding members of the newest Tunnel Snakes) -> He's rocking a style and while he can come off as a jerk, he's got a heart of gold, though never a push-over.
Joshua Graham (from Fallout New Vegas' Honest Hearts DLC, Joshua is Caesar's former Legate, now known as "the Burned Man", he resides in Zion to help the Dead Horses (as well as Daniel and the Sorrows) against the threat of the White Legs. Ryder gets some very important insight from him on how to deal with Caesar's Legion) -> Okay, so his eyes aren't blindfolded, but he is bandaged up elsewhere. And not to mention his voice is captivating. And he'd probably despise his Gojo variant which makes for some humorous opportunities.
Deacon (from Fallout 4, the Railroad's top intelligence agent and overall the best spymaster you'll ever meet, he trains Nate in the art of espionage and being a better liar. Had given Nate trust issues for a while when partnered together. He also helps Nate discover he is a synth and come to terms with his newfound existence) -> He's got the charisma. He's got the sunglasses. He's got the lies and the confidence. He's got the vibe of a responsible irresponsible adult. He's got the vibes of a back-alley drug dealer guaranteed to give you the good stuff and be there with you to make sure it goes alright. He's probably stolen caps from Carrington. He's the man. The goat. The guy the Railroad keep around because he's really good at his job even if his tactics are questionable sometimes.
Remember, for the alternative option, REBLOG and put in the tags WHO else from the Fallout franchise should be Abridged!Gojo and WHY you think they'd better suit the role.
I've also created and will continue to update (until the polling is done) a Master List for the poll results of the casted winners. You can find it right here.
You can find my Fallout OC profiles Master List right here, which also includes a link to the original post where I pitched my react fic idea. Anyway, hope you enjoyed, chow!

You said in your hcs post how gnarly the Custad battle for spider will be, I don’t think it will be that bad since I’m sure the sullys wouldn’t care that bad as long as spiders not turning against them
I think it would be really nasty case both parties have been at odds for so long (but also not really at the same time, like Quaritch is a resurrected enemy, so the way time is measured with them is so weird) and their wounds runs so deep.
Jake would probably be unwilling to let Spider go to Quaritch cause he can never fully forgive him, even if he redeems himself. Jake's trauma has caused him to reactive towards any threats, real, fake, or potential. Quaritch will, most likely, never not be a threat to him. he would be more than willing to keep spider away from him if it meant his family would be safer. Neytiri would not want spider around if he went with Quaritch but knows that her kids would not likely hold some sort of animosity towards her if she sent their friend/brother away. The kids all have different feelings towards spider and would react differently to the whole situation; Kiri would be po'd about it, Spider is her closest friend, and understands what it's like to not have your birth parents (even if he got one back, he's know that pain for 16 years), she would want to keep him close. Lo'ak, in the case of losing Neteyam, would probably flip; not only is he losing another brother, but he's losing him to the man responsible for his brother's death. In the case of him not losing Neteyam (so canon divergence), he's still losing a brother and friend. He knows that this is gonna rip the family apart, and that scares him (that kid has to have anxiety and attachment issues after their childhood). Neteyam would feel slightly betrayed; he's only been taught to know Quaritch as the bastard that destroyed his home, and he can't see him any different, even if this clone of the one who hurt his family, is doing everything he can to better himself and make up for the suffering he and his original self has caused. Tuk being the youngest, would have the hardest time understanding it; all she wants is her brother, and she knows her parents don't like Quaritch, so she would feel so conflicted and confused.
Long story short, Spider going with Quaritch, no matter the circumstance, would feel like betrayal in one way or another. Jake is too protective, Neytiri has so much trauma tracing back to that man (she couldn't let Spider go to him and come back, but she can't take him away from his siblings, no matter her feelings for him), and the kids are strung between their parents and their brother.
Quaritch, on the other hand, just wants his kid. He's desperate to have his kid. I feel like if he risks everything to redeem himself, and he doesn't at least get to have Spider, he will lose it. One person can only handle so much mental weight before they snap; leaving the company that has controlled so much of your life, are basically war-armed gods, and now have a very good reason to kill, is already a lot to bare. But if you add the fact of being kept away from the one thing you gave it all up for, you'd go a little crazy. I could see Quaritch turning to rage, and desperation, much like Neytiri had.
It would not be an easy transition, no matter how it happens, at least not at first before trust is built.
also jake is kinda petty, in like, the dad way (if that even makes sense), so I could really see that tendency to be hypocritical and overbearing coming out in this situation; like, despite never being a good father to spider (more like a shitty owner at this point) he would act as though he was better for Spider then Quaritch. Despite accepting Quaritch as an ally, or at least not an enemy, he feels entitled to keep his son from him.
There's also the whole son for a son thing if we look at this from a canon standpoint.
basically, things would be very complex and chaotic, at least at the very beginning, but things getting any better would be a long and rocky road that may go untravelled.

alastor random headcanons I came up with because I'm constantly bored and obsessed!
-even though it pained him greatly, alastor took advantage of the fact that he was white passing without his curly hair and straightened it to get his job as a radio host. it worked out just as he planned, but now, in hell, his hair is permanently straight as a subtle form of punishing from the realm!
-his first kill wasn't his father! his father died because of his constant drinking before even his mother did so. his first kill was a disgusting man who tried SAing a friend of his that worked as a dancer.
-contrary to what mimzy said, he's quite a light drinker, but mimzy is the type of person who thinks she's strong and gets drunk with a single beer, so she boasts to everyone who will hear that alastor is strong with his liquor, not that he will say anything against that.
-surprisingly, alastor spent most of his time thinking of himself as gay! seeing as he never had any attraction to women, he assumed he was gay and didn't feel attraction to them as well because all men were disgusting and "everyone thinks that!" (it's the same thing as people thinking they're bi because they equally don't feel attracted to people, but he didn't know what bi was).
-trans alastor hc: after he found himself identifying as a man, he felt sick to the point of throwing up. he couldn't believe he would "betray himself and his mother like that". he felt dirty for being one of the being that hurt so many people.
-he is a strong lgbtq+ ally, though he is not very verbal with this, if he sees someone mistreating anyone else based on this, they will be participating as a guest for his broadcast!
-in the spectrum of chaotic, neutral and lawful, he is chaotic good, seeing as he has a strong sense of justice and only kills those he feel are deserving of death.
-the only reason alastor hasn't killed valentino is because, since becoming a deer, he is VERY sensitive to lights and when overwhelmed by then will freeze and become a literal "deer in the headlights". valentino NEVER leaves the v tower which is basically the most bright place in pentagram city, so alastor has to wait for the right time.
-alastor HATED the color red. it always reminded him of his father's visits. even when killing people, he avoided looking at blood as much as possible. so, again, hell subtly punished him by making everything he wears have at least a touch of red. with time, though, he became desensitized to the color, seeing as hell is basically all shades of red
-alastor also hates the monocle, but can't for the life of him find a place to get proper glasses.
-his glasses are strong, so he barely sees without them and he's near sighted, everything farther than 16 feet, he can't see for shit.
-the monocle was actually a gift from rosie, the only reason he didn't throw it away.
-he's actually great with kids, since his mother worked a lot as a babysitter and maid for odd jobs, but nobody knows that, because he doesn't reach them out and most kids in hell are afraid of him.
-his teeth are yellow also as a subtle punishment from hell! he's actually quite obsessed with higene, which is also why he wears gloves in hell. he can't trust where anyone's hands have been and he shakes quite a lot of them.
-he's got SO many deals, but he never shows it off and most demons are embarrassed of saying they made deals, so people assumed he was strong solely because he came to hell like that, and not that a part of that was because of deals.
-he doesn't actually own niffty's soul. he met her in an alleyway, when an egotistical overlord started beating her up after seeing her play with dead roaches and finding her weird. thankfully, alastor got there just as he punched her and killed the guy. niffty put on a puppet show as a thank you and alastor said it was lovely. she hasn't left his side since.
-while many thing he's the closest to rosie, he's actually closest to niffty, but while unhinged, she would never break his trust after everything he did for her.
-he's an amazing cooker and cooks quite frequently, sometimes even for everyone at the hotel.
-he doesn't like vaggie simply because he is petty as fuck and found it rude that she pointed an angelic spear at his face the first time they met. sometimes he even goes so far as to pick on her in subtle and childish ways. things nobody would suspect of him and that he doesn't think his mother would outright disapprove of, like changing her mug from the cabinet back to the dishwasher, moving her things a little bit further away from her then she left, fold the carpet with his shadow so she trips, snag her sleeve on the doorknob with his shadows. nothing really harmful, only slightly annoying.
-he's an expert on styling hair since his mother work during some time as a hairdresser and, sometimes, will do different things on niffty's hair, like some braids, updos or ponytails. she never tells anyone where she got her hair done because she wants to keep alastor's ability all to herself, but one time charlie sees them and asks for something too. she found it beautiful, but when she told everyone else, she saw how her dad was upset over that and never asked for alastor's help again.
-most of the "women like" activities he can perform and quite well. his mother taught him everything after he was a certain age.
-he spent a lot of his time alone as a kid because he was a product of an affair from a business man who used most of his money either with his first family or drinking, so after he was more "grown" his mother went back to working as whatever job she could keep.
-his mood can change very quickly, which is scary from a lot of people. in one moment he's laughing and joking around and if you did something he didn't like, even if not meaning to, he's summoning shadows and puppets. what most don't know is that he's quite controlled in his anger, unless you have REALLY overstepped, it takes at least five "like" things for him to really lash out at someone.
that was all I could think for now! if I think of anything else or if anyone is interested in more, I'll come back with more hcs, maybe even from other characters (I did only him because he's my favorite).

Ghost of Tsushima CYOA Part 2
Link to part 1
"Say farewell to Tenzo" won. I wonder what Jin will find when he looks for Tenzo at Fune's Refuge. Things are going to get interesting >:)
Part 2 of the fic, and the poll for part 3, are below the cut.
This fic is rated Teen.
Fune’s refuge was the same as always. Salty, dusty, and full of life. The ocean spray lapping against the boats’ hulls and the seaweed valiantly clinging to the cliffs or drying on racks gave the air a perpetual low-tide stench. Jin truly didn’t mind. It was better than the dirt kicked up by dueling ring. The fighters called to Jin as he walked past, eager to test their mettle and hopefully catch him on an off day.
He waved, politely, but declined. He had to get back to the mainland, and his boat would leave with the tide. That meant he had limited time with Tenzo.
It was strange, Jin thought to himself, that his father’s murderer had become his closest ally on this island. Tenzo had been a grounding presence while Jin dealt with the aftereffects of The Eagle’s poison. The man kept him tethered to reality when all Jin saw was a string of failures tied into a noose. Tenzo had also led the efforts to do the same for other victims of The Eagle’s poisoning, and quite successfully at that. Now that the looming threat of death and annihilation of self was a distant memory, they’d even become friends.
“Tenzo!” Jin hailed upon entering the raider’s home turned house of healing.
He looked around the first floor, leaving his sandals at the door, only to find the house empty. Strange. It wasn’t meal time. Was there a local festival going on? If that was the case then there shouldn’t have been people milling about the dueling rig, everyone would have been at the proper temple or shrine.
Tenzo wouldn’t be avoiding him deliberately… they’d moved past the whole ‘Jin trying to kill him under the influence of poison’ incident, even if it had been permanently debilitating for Tenzo.
“Go away.”
That wasn’t Tenzo.
“Go away. Or… if you’re not in my head… announce yourself.” The voice commanded.
Jin followed his ear to a painted screen in the corner of the main room, he’d overlooked it before. “I am Lo—Jin.” Habit almost made him reveal himself.
“Well Lo-Jin, what do you want?” The young woman in bed appeared whole, but that meant nothing to those who’d drank the poison. Time and acceptance of life’s pain was the only cure. Jin knew that well. He also knew better than to keep a lady waiting.
“My lady, do you know where Tenzo is?”
She barked out a laugh, “I wouldn’t be your lady for all the shogun’s silks!” She kept cackling.
It hadn’t been that funny.
“So… Tenzo?” Jin prompted.
“So formal with me, but he gets to be just Tenzo?”
“Lord Tenzo is where?” Jin leaned into whatever delusions or jokes she was making. Women were beautiful, but very confusing.
She snorted into her hand before it turned into a wracking cough. She waved away Jin’s offer of help. “They all went to Fort Sakai. Everyone hale enough for the journey… meaning everyone but me.”
“Thank you, can I get you something to drink, or some food before you go?” Jin offered. It was a shame she’d been left alone, and bedridden at that. The least he could do was bring her some tea or dried persimmons.
“How sweet. I’ll be fine. Raiders take care of our own. You go get your Tenzo.” She said with a wink.
Jin forced a smile. It wasn’t like that, but he doubted he’d be able to convince her. He didn’t need to, it wasn’t like he’d see anyone on Iki again after today. Let rumors of his preferences spread. He needed to hurry to Fort Sakai to make his goodbyes before the tide changed. Who knew how long it would be before he found passage for himself and Kaze if he missed this boat.
Kaze earned his name, galloping like the wind. He barely slowed on the wooded trails and rocky hills. The beast was surefooted and swift. Which was why Jin paid attention when they stopped. He followed the direction of Kaze’s ears and the thunder of hoofbeats with his own. Jin urged his steed of the path and dismounted. A horse in armor was conspicuous, but could be more easily hidden without a rider.
Jin’s Jaw dropped when a patrol of three samurai rode past.
Samurai… on Iki? Something wasn’t right about this. Why would the samurai take notice of Iki now? They hadn’t come to help defeat the Eagle, raider boats returning to the seas and the absence of Mongol sails at harbor were enough to prove the island was free once more. Or perhaps that was the problem? Were the samurai worried an independent Iki strong enough to repel an invasion could be a threat?
He had to get to Tenzo. The samurai would likely try to take and refortify For Sakai. Tenzo was trapped there, with civilians. Returning to the place of their poisoning was likely part of facing and accepting their pasts, parts of Tenzo’s treatment plan. Tenzo would be alone with them, or worse, supervising his patients with other raiders, making all of them look like a threat to samurai eyes. He had to warn them.

TVTROPES + YORINOBU.
an introspection into his personality, thoughts, and goals.
bolded text indicates important information into understanding the way i write him.
Alas, Poor Villain: In The Devil ending, which is also the only ending where he dies or even meets V face-to-face. While he's nominally been the main antagonist of the game, he reveals to V that his motivation for everything he did was to destroy Arasaka from the inside by forcing the world to wage war against it. The last time you see him, it's clear he's lost all hope and just rests his head in the lap of his beloved younger sister, admitting he's tired. Later, you find out Saburo Arasaka's digital construct has taken over Yorinobu's body to continue running his corporation from beyond the grave, literally turning Yorinobu into the very thing he sought to destroy.
Ambiguously Evil: It's actually questionable how evil Yorinobu is. The only reason he's an antagonist is because V and Jackie happened to be extremely convenient for pinning the blame of his father's murder. There's also the fact that V had also become allies with Goro, a man who hates him for reasons of personal loyalty.  It's later revealed that he is actively trying to destroy Arasaka by actively making everyone on the planet hate them and killing all of it's board members, further making his actual evilness debatable.
Animal Motif: Hawks. The shard "Arasaka and Ornithology: Three Japanese Words to Know" states that the faction of Arasaka he's the leader of is called "taka", which means hawk in Japanese. Hawks are birds of prey, with some species' primary source of food being other birds, which shows off his more aggressive approach to how Arasaka should be reformed. It contrasts him with Hanako and Michiko, who are compared to a pheasant and a dove, respectively, two species which are much more docile and non-threatning, just like their ideas that focus on upholding the status quo or peaceful, internal reforms. Some species of hawks happily hunt reptiles like snakes, showing off Yorinobu's hatred towards Arasaka (which has a snake motif) and how much he wants to tear it down.
The Bad Guy Wins: In every ending besides The Devil he wins completely. Not only is Arasaka crippled due to the loss of Mikoshi but both Hanako and Takemura, the greatest threats to his takeover, are killed by Alt Cunningham (Hanako) or during Hanako's rescue/by committing seppuku (Takemura). Of course how 'bad' he actually is could be debated considering his motives.
Bad Liar: His explanation for Saburo's death being due to poisoning is extremely paper thin and it's clear that Takemura doesn't believe him for a second. Hanako reveals later that no one who actually cared bought it at all and they either follow along either due to being cowed by fear or because of the benefits they gain.
Berserk Button: Implied. While he already hates his father what really drives him over the edge to outright murder was Saburo bringing up Yorinobu's mom and about how disappointed she'd be in him.
Big Bad: The closest thing the game has to one, as his murder of his father kicks off the main conflict of the game, and his efforts to bury the truth behind it and maintain control of Arasaka hamper V's journey every now and again. Becomes a Well-Intentioned Extremist when his plans involve waging bloody war on the entire world to focus its hatred on destroying Arasaka.
Cain and Abel: A brother-sister variant. The risks he takes with his younger sister Hanako's safety make it seem like he's putting her in deliberate danger to solidify his position in Arasaka. After Yorinobu's men attack the hideout where Takemura is keeping Hanako prisoner, Hanako comes to believe the intent of his men was to kill, not to rescue her. She takes this as proof he no longer cares about family and motivates her to act against him. However, in The Devil ending, Yorinobu claims he never intended to kill her and was trying to keep her safe. In the end, Hanako is the one who ends up killing him by uploading their father's engram into Yorinobu's body.
Composite Character: Yorinobu bears a much greater resemblance to his older brother Kei's depictions in the 2020 version of the tabletop game, but still has his established dislike of his father's schemes and Arasaka in general. The game mentions that Kei's death was one of the things that pushed Yorinobu back into the fold, though, as we see, it didn't quite take.
Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Whether or not he's "evil" is debatable, since his terrible actions are in pursuit of a greater good, but his love for his family is completely genuinely. He goes into a murderous rage after being told his mother would be disappointed in him, seems to feel remorse over murdering his father even if he did hate him, and despite appearances to the contrary, he never intended to hurt his sister Hanako, whom he truly loves.
Evil vs. Evil: Depending on how one views him. While he's definitely against Saburo and Arasaka in general his methods of stopping them include kickstarting another corporate war and making Arasaka so hated that the rest of the world unites in annihilating them. Regardless of his goals, however, the loss of life if another war were to ignite would be catastrophic and it's implied he'll continue with his plans even if Mikoshi is destroyed.
Face Death with Dignity: In The Devil ending, Yorinobu tells Hanako that he knows he'll be killed for his actions and he isn't afraid. He just feels tired.
Face–Heel Turn: Yorinobu is traditionally quite a noble and heroic character in the 2020 TTRPG, where he is essentially Johnny Silverhand's counterpart in Tokyo. After learning the true nature of the Arasaka Corporation, Yorinobu was so disgusted that he broke away from his family entirely and became a founding member of gangs like the Iron Lotus and Steel Dragons which were devoted to exposing Arasaka's corruption. However, by the time of the 2077 video game, Yorinobu's personality has changed and he is the closest thing the game has to a Big Bad. Justified somewhat by the fact that his goals and motivations haven't changed at all, he's just now old enough to have seen his youthful rebellion repeatedly fail, forcing him to change tactics and reintegrate into Arasaka to try to fight his father's control from the inside.
Foil: To Johnny Silverhand. While they both hate Arasaka with a burning passion and rallied the populace to rebel against them Johnny died young being remembered as a terrorist while Yorinobu eventually returned to the fold and worked to disable Arasaka from within.
Former Teen Rebel: In 2020's Yorinobu was the leader of a bosozoku gang, the Steel Dragons, riding high and rebelling against his father's wishes. 50 years later, he's become more of a corpo, ditching his biker outfit for a business suit, but the rebellious streak still remains within him. Notably, he still keeps his old coat around, and can be looted from his room.
Hand Cannon: His personal sidearm is a custom Liberty named Kongou, powerful enough to perform bullet ricochets without a dedicated upgrade.
Hero Antagonist: Somewhat of an Anti-Hero Antagonist, but his takeover of Arasaka was meant to stop Saburo's plans to finish the "Secure Your Soul" project, and save the world from being controlled by Saburo Arasaka, as revealed during his defeat in the "Devil" ending.
Hero of Another Story: How Yorinobu managed to get the Relic, along with how he came back into the fold of Arasaka Corp. would be an interesting story on its own. However, we only see the consequences from V's perspective.
Interrupted Suicide: By the time V corners him, Yorinobu's plans have been dashed and a gun with a single bullet is by his side. He assures V it's not meant for them.
Karma Houdini: Gets away completely scott free in every ending except The Devil and even uses his sister's death for sympathy. However, since he's arguably the least evil of the Arasakas (and actually hates everything his family stands for) and opposes their plans to finish the “Secure Your Soul” project how much karma he is due outside of killing Saburo at the wrong time is debatable. It is discussed even earlier. When you meet at the rooftop market, Takemura points out that Saburo could have crushed Yorinobu and the Steel Dragons at any time and place of his choosing, but chose to let his son continue to kill and destroy Arasaka assets because he was loath to kill his own son. And when Yorinobu came back to the fold, Saburo wanted to see Yorinobu punished, but Hanako convinced him to stay his hand. All this boils down to that Yorinobu has been shielded from the consequences of his two major life decisions.
Non-Action Big Bad: He's the closest thing the game has to a main antagonist but, aside from murdering his father, he never personally gets his hands dirty, relying on his money and resources instead. He never even meets V unless the player picks The Devil ending, where he makes no attempt to fight back when cornered.
Rebel Prince: Notably toned down from his tabletop counterpart; here he's working against his father with the possible help of Arasaka insiders instead of trying to build a full-blown anti-Arasaka movement.
A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: His murder of Saburo was a spur of the moment decision. His behavior immediately afterwards indicates he realizes how badly he just screwed things up. He might not have been able to cover it up without V and Jackie to take the fall.
Token Good Teammate: While he was this in the tabletop game, he now appears to have become just another power-hungry Corpo...  which is actually his plan, as he is now the only member of the Arasaka family to actively oppose the company, and to do so means he needs to do so in secrecy.
The Unfought: Not only does V never fight him, but in every ending other than The Devil, they never even meet Yorinobu face-to-face. This is because Yorinobu's goal to destroy Arasaka from within is completely independent from V's mission to find a cure for themselves unless they seek help from Yorinobu's sister. Even the gun that V finds him with was one that he was going to use to kill himself.
Villain of Another Story: Yorinobu's master plan to destroy Arasaka from within by triggering a war is completely independent from V's quest to stop the Biochip in their head from killing them. In fact, V will never even find out about Yorinobu's plans unless the player sides with Hanako and triggers The Devil ending.
Well-Intentioned Extremist: Intends to save the world through mass-murder. Specifically, by intentionally waging war on the entire world with Arasaka's forces, slaughtering most of the Board of Directors, and generally causing as much of a mess as he can, all so Arasaka will self-destruct. Whether this is better or worse than allowing the corp's despotic, murderous rulership of its (considerable) territory to persist ad infinitum is left up to the player - on the one hand, they'll finally be going after people who can fight back, but on the other hand, they'll finally be going after people who can fight back.
Zero-Approval Gambit: What is implied to be his ultimate goal as CEO of Arasaka Corp. His first order of business as CEO immediately puts strain on the already tenuous relationship the corporation has with Militech, and he appears to desire to make Arasaka such an aggressive despotic force that the whole world would unite to destroy it once and for all. And he no doubt knows this will end with him being remembered as the very thing he sought to destroy, another tyrant at the helm of Arasaka. But at least he would be the last.

have you seen the 'official volume 9 teaser' yet? it came with a plot summary which leaves me... less than enthused for the coming volume
After the harrowing events of Volume 8, our heroines are thrust into an unknown world--the Ever After! However, once Team RWBY explores this strange and mysterious realm, they quickly discover it might not be quite as unknown as they first assumed. As they journey to find a way back home, they'll have to overcome some of their toughest challenges yet--the struggle of their own identities, and whether or not they're equipped to stop Salem.
quite apart from the fact that this seems to confirm that we won't get an answer to 'what happened to everyone in Vacuo' until v10 (unless they give us something at the end of the v9 finale, and at this point I'm bracing for some kind of ridiculous timeskip on the remnant side, i just had the most vivid mental image of oscar with a full beard ;~;), I'm worried that 'the Ever After' is indeed going to be some kind of remnant afterlife (please leave my dead blorbos out of your shenanigans, RT!!!! let them sleep!!!!), or else it's some sort of Wonderland clone which I still don't trust them with, so idek
but also! what identity struggles? when have any of them really grappled with who they are or even their place in the world? blake, MAYBE, but everything to do with the white fang was so badly bungled i can't imagine them circling back around to that intentionally, especially since she was fixed by killing a man and some soft Hand Holding, meanwhile ruby never showed any indication of struggling with who she is, neither did yang--and it's odd, because loss of a parent (in yang's case, two, considering she lost both her mothers) is usually prime fodder for an identity crisis. the closest i can imagine coming is weiss, but wouldn't it had made more sense to tackle her struggle for an identity before having her drop a quippy one-liner about arresting her father?
not to mention the last part of that sentence--one would think they'd have stopped to consider whether or not they were equipped to stop salem when she boldly told them she was coming for them at the end of v7, rather than spending all of v8 fighting against their former allies and ignoring salem's presence entirely (with the exception of like five minutes of the b-team needlessly infiltrating the whale to save someone who'd already gotten himself free).
anyway, yeah, i'm so not excited for this coming volume. i'm just tired.
Tumblr media
I’ve now watched the teaser!
There’s a lot to mention here, so I’m going to fall back on my handy-dandy bullet points:
Yeah, based on this teaser and the summary it looks as if Volume 9 might take place entirely in the Ever After. (I’m reserving judgement on the name for now. See if it grows on me...) Given how detailed some of the shots seem and the theory that this is partly why the Volume has taken so long (+ movie), I can’t believe the group would suddenly make it back to Vacuo in episode five or something as a “twist.” I’ve said since the end of Volume 8 that they might do a time skip/only show Vacuo in the finale. That’s looking even more likely now.
Pushing back against that though, a teaser obviously doesn’t show us everything, but I still find it strange that both this trailer and our summary don’t mention/show Jaune. It could be that Vacuo events haven’t been included yet the same way that Jaune hasn't. Or…
Tumblr media
I’ve already seen some speculation that this might be Jaune, given that he otherwise doesn’t seem to be with the group, the Knight’s identity is currently hidden, and he’s wearing a warrior/tank's armor like Jaune favors. The idea is that this world might have pockets that move differently through time, especially for those who don’t fall close together, and this is an older Jaune who has spent months or years lost here. Honestly, I’d hate that? I don’t like the idea of a time skip for RWBY at all, but especially not for Jaune as a way of milking his Penny grief and separating him even more from the group as some special case. I mean, there’s no actual evidence for this theory—pure speculation that will likely be debunked by the next trailer—but I’m just going on the record that I don’t want it lol.
Okay, let’s actually start going through this trailer in order. First, who’s the narrator? It doesn’t sound like Jinn to me. I want to say it’s someone new, but also it’s quite possible I’m just not recognizing a character’s voice after the long hiatus.
“This is the story of a girl…” Is it? I mean, kudos to the teaser for trying to bring us back to that, but Ruby hasn’t felt like the protagonist to me in a very long time. If this Volume succeeds in anything, I hope it’s in giving Ruby the compelling, consistent development she’s been lacking since she left Beacon.
“Before she went back home…” This is absolutely a nitpick, but it bugs me that seven seconds into a teaser we’re told the conclusion of this arc. It’s a nitpick because duh the group is going to make it back to Remnant. I doubt there’s a single person in the whole RWBY fandom who seriously thought, for even a moment, that they were permanently dead (or permanently stuck in whatever alternate reality this might be). But it’s the principal of the thing? The ability to suspend my knowledge of narrative conventions and pretend like this is a major hurdle for them? Hearing that line just took me right out of the story
MOUSE FAMILIAR?
Tumblr media
Hmm. Admittedly, I am not immune to an adorable companion. 10/10 I’ll put up with a lot if the mouse is cute enough in the show proper.
More importantly, I do like this shot for the expression Ruby’s got. It’s harder to tell in a screenshot, but she looks like she’s horrified, but too numb to actually react to whatever she’s seeing (or thinking about). Combined with this shot:
Tumblr media
It looks like we might actually get a Ruby grappling with her trauma. I mean, we thought Volume 6 was doing that too, only for that to get swept away under a booo adults mentality, but maybe the death of Penny (again…) will do what the last five volumes have failed to? That's if that glimpse of Penny doesn't lead to all their dead friends showing up 😬
Tumblr media
Beyond the emotion discussed above, I’m not really digging the animation yet. It’s clearly a mix of Alice in Wonderland and… Candyland? And while I normally like nonsense elements in a fantasy, I’m not sure I like it specifically for RWBY, a show that has been trying for the last 6+ years to be taken very, very seriously. Which isn’t to say that you can’t or shouldn’t take absurdist aspects seriously—they function as metaphors and the like—only that there’s this jarring disconnect between trying to grapple with half the group being eaten in a hostile desert while the other half frolics among cherry-topped snow piles and candy mushrooms, or whatever. Obviously not everything in this place is welcoming, or even presenting the veneer of child-like safety, but I’m still encountering the same problem I’ll discuss in my “A Nightmare Comes” recap: it’s really hard to buy into the supposed horror of this grimm when our vehicle for encountering it is bunny!Jaune huddled in his footie PJs while silly-looking statues threaten him. RWBY has struggled with tone for several seasons now and though clearly this place is meant to pit that fantasy wonder against the real horrors underneath… this teaser isn’t helping to convince me that RWBY will pull it off.
Also, who did it better?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(My answer is Witcher XD)
We get a line about “the tree,” not just “a” tree, confirming what we already suspected about this foliage being important. It might even be the same tree seen in the God of Light’s temple. Not literally the same in terms of design, but some mystical-esque tree that’s connecting this realm to Remnant’s.
We see some potential new antagonists alongside a shot of Neo:
Tumblr media
And someone else who fell? Or accessed the realm another way? It certainly looked like the group washed up on shore and she seems to be coming from the ocean.
Tumblr media
A Cheshire Cat reference, a crown, and quick shots of the rest of Team RWBY wandering about:
Tumblr media
I like some of these shots a LOT more than I like the look of the realm as a whole, so I’m hoping that opinion continues. We’ve waited for this season for so long and there’s such an emphasis on Ever After itself, I feel like we should all at least be able to enjoy the beauty of the volume, even if the writing remains a mess. I really am flip-flopping though because one second it’s, “Oooo gorgeous leaves housing mysterious eyes” and then, “How did Jaune grow his hair long enough to cover a whole tree?”
I’ll be honest and say that I’m not sure what to make of the whole “What are you?” question yet. It may be literal—who are these humans/faunus to the animal denizens of a magical world? (Oh god, how is that going to intersect with Blake?) But it’s clearly meant to mean so much more than that, echoing the earlier question of “Who had [Ruby] become?” Immediately, the introduction of “what” made me think about titles. What are they? Heroes or villains? Huntsmen or children? Remnant’s saviors or just another, short term weapon pointed at the enemy? Given how well RWBY has tackled such questions in the past, I truly doubt I’ll be satisfied with whatever Ever After supposedly teaches them. R now my only hope is that, as said, we get some good Ruby development in a direction I can support, even if the general takeaway is still them being told by the magical realm that they’re the bestest heroes ever who of course will defeat Salem… never mind that they haven’t spent a moment since her immortality reveal even trying to think about how to stop her.
I sure hope that subdued, minuscule smile isn’t Yang seeing Blake for the first time post-death…
Tumblr media
Finally, as a few others have already pointed out, the end of the teaser does say “early 2023,” so it looks like we should expect more of a six-ish month wait, as opposed to the nearly year and a half I was envisioning last night. The reveal of this crossover film (I'm still ??? about that) is likewise another explanation for why Volume 9 has taken so long… but really, my overall sense of things remains the same. RT doesn’t feel very stable right now and the fact that there are so many RWBY projects atm isn’t, to me, necessarily a sign of them flourishing, but rather that they’re spreading themselves thin. It would be a totally different story if post-lockdown they had been able to prioritize Volume 9 in a way that quickly got us back on schedule, maintaining good communication with fans throughout, and also advertised some side projects that they had additional resources and time for without throwing anything else (projects, people) under the bus… but that doesn't seem to be the case. RT’s continuing problems don’t, for me, shine a positive light on the myriad of RWBY things that keep popping up. As @feen-feet mentioned on another post of mine—thanks for the info!—I’m not sure more installments are automatically a sign of RT doing well, at least not in the way many fans want to use these projects as definitive evidence for how everything is not only perfect, but reaching new and shiny heights.

A funky little post about Allison’s villain (?) arc and unconscious transphobia
So, I’ve seen a lot of posts about how Allison hates Viktor this season but still respects his name and pronouns, and as much as I enjoy these posts, I don’t feel like they’re strictly true. Especially with my transmasculine reading of Allison’s emotions.
To clarify, I’m not calling Allison transphobic and I do understand that the Doylist explanation of this season is that they didn’t plan for Viktor to be trans with this plot, and they didn’t want Elliot Page’s first (?) role after coming out to be rife with transphobia.
However, as a transmasc person, I felt like how Allison felt this season included some unintentional transphobia.
So, one of my favorite things about this arc (as much as I hated Allison during it and was so glad for her redemption) was how easy it was to track how she got there. She had lost the two people she loved most, she needs control, she felt unsupported and abandoned.
And abandonment what this is based on. More under cut so this isn’t annoying.
One of the most common threads I see in “supportive” cis women is that past the support, they feel betrayed and abandoned. Even if they think they support everything, quite a few unconsciously feel like they’ve been abandoned by someone who was supposed to be their sister in arms.
Allison and Viktor had always been the two “girls” on the team. Despite Viktor’s removal from the Academy, they’ve obviously bonded over this and are one of the closest sibling relationships on the show (backing up my odds and evens band together claim). See the “sisters? sisters” moment from season one.
So Allison, who has been the only public girl on the team and has suffered for it, feels like she’s lost her one ally on this subject in the family. I don’t like this train of thought and I don’t support it. But I can see where it’s coming from. Keep that in mind when I explain this.
Plus, Allison’s obviously suffering from other abandonment this season. She’s lost her husband and child, her ex-husband doesn’t even recognize her, her father doesn’t think of her as his child, and notably her ex has a new girlfriend/is getting married. All of these are things that hurt her, whether she reacts to them well or not (see the creepy scene where she rumors Luther).
So when you add Viktor to this, it’s easy to see how she feels abandoned. I don’t think she knows she feels abandoned, similarly to the Patrick and Reginald points I made above. But she still feels hurt.
Thus, part of her anger towards Viktor is unconsciously that she feels like he’s left her to become just another white man. And I could write a separate post on how both men and white people and white men have hurt Allison. So as much as she supports her brother, it isn’t just that she views Harlan as killing her mother (leading to Claire’s nonexistence) and Viktor as keeping it a secret. It’s also that Viktor has left their bond as “sisters” (which was enforced earlier in the season when they were the two sharing a room genderwise).
Also, there have been a few moments this season that I think back this up. One of the notable ones for me is when she makes fun of Viktor’s presentation at Luther’s wedding, saying “an oversized button up? how original” sarcastically. I felt like it was more of a dig at Viktor’s presentation than his clothing, specifically his own masculine presentation. Similarly, she blames him for things she forgave him for before. I think this plays into the feeling of men not being her allies while women are: now that Viktor’s a man he doesn’t have the right to do these things to her.
Obviously, Allison shouldn’t feel this way, and her feelings of abandonment don’t justify anything this arc. Hell, I’m just glad she did respect Viktor and his pronouns all season. But I don’t think that she’s “fine with Viktor being trans but not with Viktor doing [insert said action here]”. Instead, I think she’s unconsciously adding his newfound identiy to a list of ways he’s wronged her. And she doesn’t even realize it.

I mean, I've already decided that the Baratheon is gonna be the oldest of them and would be the youngest sister of Boremund Baratheon or his youngest and only daughter (I need to look at ages because I realised Boremund is older than Rhaenys even though he looks pretty young on the show so I think only daughter would be more fitting yeah)
Now anyways, this girl is gonna be a bunch of years older than Maeg - I'm thinking she'll be 20 when Rhaenyra's doing her tour
Oh fuck I just googled it and Rhaenyra's actually 19/20
So I need her to be a bit older than Rhaenyra so I think I'll make her either 21 or 23. Not 22 because I'm turning 22 and dreading it.
So this would make her... hmm, 3-5 years older than Maegelle? (Maeg's two years younger than Rhaenyra)
But anyways, this Lady Baratheon is unmarried and living at Storm's End with her father, because - she was married (when she was a bit younger), but then her husband died and he died without issue. So instead of his lands/titles going to Lady Baratheon, it went to his nephew. Now because I like drama, I'm gonna have her be married to Jerrel Bracken's Uncle - who died only a year or two back, and Lady Baratheon absolutely hates Jerrel because she knows he's to inherit whatever titles the Brackens held.
So you can imagine her face when the Blackwood and Bracken boys beat it out and the Bracken boy dies - she's just like "holy fuck did I just... curse him???" (It'd be a fun little thing if she could - curse people, but idk)
Now anyways, she's a cutie who told her father that she's already done her duty to her house married a man - and it is not her fault that he died without impregnating her. (Lady Baratheon hated her marriage and her husband - simply because he was boring and a bit boorish and very misogynistic, overlooking the fact that he married a Lady of Storm's End, whose fury he had a bad habit of tempting and whose wroth he overlooked. There's some rumours surrounding her, saying that she killed the Lord, which is why, instead of the Brackens still being somewhat allied with the Baratheons... they became a little... tense. Because I like the idea of Lady Baratheon saying/thinking crazy things and having them come true - so she must have said that he'd die without heirs since he spends more time in the training yards with his invisible enemies than he does doing his duty in the bedroom. He does spend time in the bedroom. Just... Lady Baratheon finds him to be a man incapable of pleasing his wife. So she decides to insult him for it.)
Anyways, Lady Baratheon found her husband boring and ugly and disgusting - she called him a shriveled old craven (even though he was not shriveled at all or old), because she just likes talking bad about the dead. He wasn't her person - he wasn't exciting or even romantic (as Lady Tyrell / Lannister would gush about the knights in their stories.)
I suppose Lady Baratheon and Maegelle would be the closest out of the quartet (I plan on having Lady Johanna Lannister - yes, Jason's wife - be a Lady in waiting for her, mainly because Maegelle finds herself bored, as of late, and likes the idea of having friends who she can trust and support... even though both she and Rhaenyra trusted Alicent and she betrayed them. But that's another discussion.)
Anyways, so Lady Baratheon's also the closest to Maegelle because she's the only one daring enough to go near a dragon. The other two wouldn't dare, attributing it to the lack of dragonblood they've in their veins, to which Lady Baratheon laments at her lack of a dragon, and Maegelle laughs, saying perhaps she'd get a dragon egg as a birthday gift. Of course, the other ladies think that to be cool, but Lady Baratheon only taunts, "Sorry, but only dragonriders have a right to dragon eggs," and sticks her tongue out at them like a child.
Now it is at I think Rhaenyra's Wedding that we have Daemon making a late entrance and he ends up dancing with Laena because he caught her eye but then he ends up switching with Lady Baratheon because the dance is where the partners switch or whatever. And Lady Baratheon is disappointed because she was having much fun stepping on the new heir of Lord Bracken's foot - she's - she's a menace
And now I'm crying because can yall imagine Lady B × Maeg × Aelor getting up to shit in the Dragon Pit's ?
IM DYING CAN YOU IMAGINE DAEMON ASKING HER "have you ridden a dragon before? / is this your first time dancing with a dragon?" And Lady B is just like "my first? No. My last with you? Most probably," because she's heard the rumours of how he killed his wife up in the Vale - and she's a bit hypocritical in the fact that she believes it automatically, while it enfuriates her that she is not believed when she says and swears that she didn't kill her husband. (Because honestly, if she wanted him dead then he would have died on their wedding night.)
Now Daemon isn't in love with her. Rather, he steals her as a form of rebellion (oop, no surprise there), when Viserys orders he remarries - and not a Velaryon, or someone of Targaryen blood who Daemon would find worthy... but a Hightower, so as to strengthen the bonds between Viserys and his wife - he hopes it'll appease Alicent a bit (idk man just go with it) and Rhaenyra's like "that sounds fucking stupid)
Not to mention, around this point is when Aelor gets exiled - so Daemon is pissed, Maeg is pissed, and Rhaenyra is pissed. The House of the Dragon is all pissed off at it's head - which is honestly what Otto probably wants.
So they discuss this, I think - maybe just Maeg and Daemon, because Rhaenyra's busy comforting Laenor who lost his love and also trying to come up with a plan to get Aelor back, and and and
Daemon says "there's only one thing we can do then. Rebel." And Maeg was like "??? Well we can't give Otto what he wants but we can't also rebel, that's treason!" But Daemon gives no fucks and only says "trust me, little niece," bit Maeg does not trust him, and instead steals away Lady Baratheon in the night, and he takes her to Dragonstone where... Aelor and Rhaenyra are fucking around. I'm dead I love the Targaryens they're so . Fucking . Chaotic .

Oh god I just realized another reason why I like Diluc and Kaeya so much? Personal gushing and sudden mongol history lore incoming. It just hit me, apart from other stories like that there’s the one tale that they reminded me of most. The artistic version of history and life of Genghis Khan! Idk I was just super into it back at school, bear with me here.
Now, at the beginning of Genghis Khan’s rise to power, there’s basically the same narrative about ‘friends to reluctant enemies’ that I tend to enjoy so much. It is told in translations and interpretations of the Secret History of Mongols, by itself a text that we only have as a Chinese transcription of the lost original.  See, Genghis Khan (birth name Temujin) also had a sworn brother. That guy was called Jamukha, a similarly highborn nobleman, and he was Temujin’s closest friend ever since they met when they were ~11. That was when they pledged friendship to each other for the first time, and they renewed this oath three times, each time exchanging gifts and promises; sleeping in the same bed, sharing one life, loving and safeguarding each other from any danger.  They fought together side by side on a number of occasions, most importantly when Temujin’s first wife Borte was kidnapped by a rival tribe and he asked for Jamukha’s and Wang Khan’s help in retrieving her. Wang Khan was his father’s sworn brother and thus also Temujin’s sworn father (and thus technically also a father to Jamukha himself, although in the tale Wang Khan more often calls Jamukha his younger brother). They joined forces and the mission went successfully, Borte was saved. After that, Temujin and Jamukha renewed their oath for the second time. However, as Temujin acquired more power and received the title of a khan, friction between him and Jamukha became inevitable. They were both apparently racked by paranoia whether their sworn brother still remained loyal, and those who surrounded them repeatedly fed into those suspicions. At this time, mongols were a divided people with a lot of infighting, many of them wary of Genghis Khan’s quick rise to power. A coalition of tribes formed against him, and Jamukha eventually found himself on the opposing side to his sworn brother. Finally, he was chosen as that coalition’s khan. Now, obviously we don’t have enough historical accounts to know the whole truth, but I like the way the tale implies that Jamukha saw the title as a heavy duty rather than as a long-awaited chance to betray his sworn friend. With his strong feudal principles, he found it difficult to refuse. That same feudal ideology lied in opposition to the new system Temujin was creating (more based on merit rather than right by birth), and thus they were meant to be enemies sooner or later. Anyway yeah, then they fought for a while and eventually Jamukha lost. Finally, his own men gave him out to Temujin.  Jamukha was outraged at the betrayal and asked Temujin whether he approved of that, and Temujin immediately reacted by executing the traitors before Jamukha’s eyes. Then he pleaded for Jamukha to once again join him as his ally, reminding him of all the times they spent together.
Tumblr media
In response, Jamukha gave a very poetic speech which basically amounted to ‘welllll i kinda stabbed you in the back though? and now that you’ve won i can’t really be of any use to you anyway, just kill me’.  I would intrude into your dreams in the dark night, I would trouble your heart in the bright day.
He only asked for an honorable death (without spilling blood).  When I lie dead, my bones buried in a high place, for ever and ever I shall protect you and be a blessing to the offspring of your offspring. Even though Temujin was a little bit peeved that Jamukha didn’t even try to ask for his forgiveness, he agreed that the man surely deserved a noble execution. So, Jamukha died after getting his spine broken.
Winning against his sworn brother was the last step in unifying mongol tribes under Genghis Khan’s rule and so his conquest went on. Idk, it’s just so… I’m certain that it was much less poetic and heroic in real life, but it’s still a gripping tale to be sure. Anyway I guess Genshin tapped into my old interests there? Another pair of sworn brothers, torn apart more by different allegiances rather than their own decisions, but this time with a very high possibility of reconciliation and a happy ending (or at least a version of it) since they aren’t actually that opposed to each other. And yet still both of them are capable fighters, a bit sadistic people but with a strong understanding of honor and justice, charismatic in their own way, prominent in their own countries (Diluc part of the nobility and so called uncrowned king, Kaeya Khaenri’ah’s ‘last hope’ and supposed royalty) etc. Oh I don’t know, it was just cool for me to remember where I’d seen that. I suppose if I was more into Chinese history and literature, I’d know many more examples of similar nature, both real life and fictional, but it’s interesting how my own view of such stories was formed by very different sources, starting with an important historical document and ending with a silly gacha game.

Only the powerful can grant mercy
Fuyumi being an vigilante/villain. 2k, Rated T, canon-typical violance, on ao3
Fuyumi was six the first time she stood inside the Dojo and felt for the first time the pain of getting punched in the face. It wasn’t even a punch; it had just been the backhand of her father. Her father with hands as big as her face.
Now when she felt the familiar feeling of pain blooming, she didn’t flinch anymore, she didn’t cry and she didn’t beg for mercy that would never come.
Instead she smiled. Laughed.
“Really?” She mocked her opponent, let him know how little she cared about his attacks.
“You are getting boring.”
She unleashed her ice.
She wasn’t like her little brother. She couldn’t create mountains out of nothings, couldn’t create a new ice time like it was nothing.
She could do something else.
“What – what are you doiaaaaaaargh –“
His desperate struggles got silent as her ice did the work. Fuyumi didn’t envy her little brother.
Because she could do so much worse than he could.
“I froze the blood in your veins,” she explained to the dead man standing still in front of her, with a glassy look on his face. He didn’t even look that dead yet. He even managed to still stand.
“Did no one advise you not to touch me?”
She was famous for that, for her deadly touch. A second of contact was all she needed to end even the most dangerous people. Nobody was immune to getting their brain frozen, no matter their size, ability or quirk. It assured that she always had enough space around her, no matter where she went.
“The Ice Queen,” whispered someone behind the moron she had just sent into an early grave. She turned to him.
“Thank you for introducing me. That’s indeed the name I go by these days.”
The name hadn’t been her choice. She never had even wanted a name. But nowadays it was a well-established name, enough to discourage lots of people to even pick a fight. Sadly.
She wasn’t really picky with who it was. Villains, criminals, heroes – at the end of the day there were all the same. Just a way to vent her frustration. Just people thinking they could take her. Foolish.
The people in front of her took a fearful step back. Who even were they? She didn’t really care. They had attacked her. She didn’t need to know more.
“We’re sorry, we didn’t recognize you.” One of the guys tried to hold up his hands in a placating manner. Fuyumi laughed.
“Did you ignore the blue mask on my face or did you just not care? Thought I was an easy target? Thought you could buy yourself some fame? What excuse do I get to hear this time? Don’t worry, I heard them all.”
She was after all a young woman walking around the worsts part of the city alone. She stopped counting how many times that alone had been enough for people to attack here. She also had stopped counting how many people had died at her hands. Some sure had been heroes as well.
She didn’t care.
“Really? You walk around here and nobody has warned you yet? Tsk tsk, you have to be new.”
She would let them go if they stopped attacking here now, she decided. It was getting late and she had to teach a class tomorrow. And her father certainly wanted to have breakfast ready in a few hours.
The thought soured her mood. Maybe she should kill them after all. That would make her feel better. To see them scramble away from her in fear, see the panic as they couldn’t stop their bodies from giving out of them.
The cold was an enemy to everyone but it was her closest ally. Her companion in the night. She hadn’t felt warmth in years. She didn’t even feel the burn of her father’s flames.
And how ironic that was – immune to the flames but hurt by her ice.
“We – we’re going now. He didn’t deserve it better for not recognizing you and we beg for your forgiveness.”
He was begging now. How cute. Fuyumi thought she could grant it to him. It was fun to give people forgiveness when they begged for it. Because she had cried and pleaded and never received it. Her brother had cried and pleaded and hadn’t received it. Granting mercy felt good.
Because if she was the one granting mercy, then it meant she was the one with the power. Powerless people couldn’t grant mercy. They could only hope for it.

His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
Calame #2: Les deux royaumes, Paul Beorn 5/5
(I didn't find the english translation of this book)
Warrior of the Altaii, Robert Jordan 3/5
Draw near and listen, or else time is at an end.
The watering holes of the Plain are drying up, the fearsome fanghorn grow more numerous, and bad omens abound. Wulfgar, a leader of the Altaii people, must contend with twin queens, warlords, prophets and magic in hopes of protecting his people and securing their future. Elspeth, a visitor from another world, holds the answers, but first Wulfgar must learn to ask the right questions.
But what if the knowledge that saves the Altaii will also destroy them?
The Reckoners #1: Steelheart, Brandon Sanderson 4/5
Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics. But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his will. Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them. And David wants in. He wants Steelheart — the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning — and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience. He's seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

Harold Belphegor || 37 || Mortician || Echo Creek
“I've got 24 hours to get rid of this... bozo, or the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years goes up in smoke, and YOU ARE WEARING HIS MERCHANDISE?”
✨ Biography:
Anyone who grew up in the Underworld knew the name Harold Belphegor. The Belphegors once ruled the place and when Harold came of age and he took over for his father he was king of the place. The thing was...he was a lousy leader. He only had his self interest in mind and wanted to do things his way, not the way things should be. He was particularly fond of the dead souls that made their way from above ground and into the Underworld. He enjoyed tormenting them for his own self interest and as years went on and the Underworld declined he was overthrown by the Lucitors. Harold vowed one day the family would pay for taking what was rightfully his and he was going to start with that little brat of theirs, Tom. After being banished to live above ground Harold had to find other things to do. He brought with him his two closest confidents, two idiots that could barely keep their heads on their shoulders. But, hey, at least he had someone. Living in Echo Creek was much different than the Underworld. Harold, being the demon that he was, opened up a mortuary. It was an excellent front for his real business. He wanted to collect enough souls to start a war in the Underworld and take back his throne. In the mean time he would prey on the poor humans in Animania and offer them deals they couldn’t refuse.
During his time in Animania Harold made many allies and many enemies. There was a girl, Megara, who had come to him in a time of peril and begged for help. Who was Harold to deny her? She would simply be another body to add to his troops when the time came. He made her do petty work and sent her to do his evil bidding. All was fine and well until Hektor came along. Meg brought him to Harold and as far as he was concerned the guy could be useful with that strength of his. Harold was content for a while, making deals and working at the mortuary on his victims. Time passed and Harold finally contacted his parents. His parents weren’t doing so well in the Underworld, but honestly he didn’t feel guilty. His father had been killed after some dirt came to surface from him. He’d cheated on his mother before Harold was born with a fae from the surface. Harold wasn’t sure how to process the information when his mother told him he had an older brother that lived in Echo Creek. Harold was hellbent on finding him though. He tracked the man down, his name was Zeke and he was the opposite of Harold. The man radiated good energy but Harold had a mission. He told Hektor to keep tabs on the man and Meg to keep a watchful eye over the whole situation. He hadn’t expected the man to try and mentor Hektor though and that boiled his blood. He wanted him dead but he knew the man would be hard to kill off. The more and more Hektor spent on this task the more Harold distrusted him. He knew him and Meg were growing closer each day as well and that wasn’t something he could have. He worked the two as hard as possible and made them spend as much time apart as he could. While he is plotting the doom of the Underworld he’s also working hard to maintain a presence in Echo Creek as someone the people can ‘trust.’ He has a lot of goals and isn’t afraid to go too far to achieve them.

Ursula Brown: The two are sort of rivals in the deal making business. That doesn’t mean Harold isn’t down to spend a night with her every now and again.
Hemlock Siblings: Paxton and Paul are two brothers that Harold brought up with him from the Underworld. They’re not the brightest but they’re the only two people he can really trust.

Don’t think about the fact that after 500 years of feeling like a worthless bastard and killing his own rapist father, Cassian is now actually brothers with a member of his found family through their mates and is planning a family of his own.
Don’t think about the fact the this must make Azriel, who also had a horrible father and has endured endless abuse, feel so left out that he thinks Elain is the only answer even though she’s mated to someone else and that his show of emotions came not out of possessiveness but a profound frustration and feeling of standing on the outside looking in at his own brothers.
Don’t think about the fact that Gwyn doesn’t even know who her father is and has lost every person she’s ever loved prior to meeting Nesta and Emerie.
Don’t think about the fact that if Azriel and Gwyn are mates not only would the Gwynriel/Nessian double dates shatter the universe, but they could have a child that ends up being Cassian and Nesta’s child’s mate thus showing that even when Azriel was questioning why he isn’t connected with his brothers the universe was pulling him to a different path for their family to come together.
Don’t think about the fact that Lucien’s entire life has been him bouncing around from tyrant to tyrant with no real sense of place or belonging and he doesn’t know that the man who murdered his lover is not truly his father.
Don’t think about the fact that Elain is sunshine and light personified and that as much as Feyre and Nesta love her she will never truly be free to explore and grow on her own if she stays sheltered in the Night Court. Don’t think about the fact that she could bloom like a tulip under the light of the Day Court and ride across the very sun.
Don’t think about the fact that Night and Day have always been the closest allies and that Lucien and Elain as High Lord and Lady of Day might be the only way that all of the courts can be united to work together (Dawn, Day, Winter, Summer, and Night are already allies but this would pull in Tamlin because despite everything he wouldn’t hurt Lucien. Eris loves his brother and has protected him once before but he’s also smart and wouldn’t even think about going against such an alliance).
Don’t think about the fact that it’s also possible Gwyn is Tamlin’s daughter and if he dies the magic might pass to her and she and Azriel become High Lady and Lord of Spring (because SJM breaks her own rules all the time lol)
Don’t think about the fact that Nesta is mother blessed and in control of the deadliest weapons in Prythian and also mated to the most feared general in history and this fucking POWER COUPLE could raise and lead a Prythian-allied army the likes of which no one could ever defeat and become the god of war and goddess of death reborn.
Just don’t think about any of that.

Dean Winchester be like:
I hate myself because it’s what my father taught me to do.  I hate myself because it’s a defense mechanism.  I use sarcasm to cover up the fact that I believe I am worthless.  I raised my brother into a good man, that’s the only good I’ve ever done.  I’ve saved some people, they don’t say thank you, but that’s okay.  I wish I could have been the man my father wanted me to be.  I break everything I touch.  All the people I love I end up killing or leaving me.  I am broken.  I don’t do romantic love, it’s asking for me to get my heart broken, more broken than it already is.  I sold my soul to a demon so I could save my brother, because he’s the best thing I ever did, the only good thing.  I’m afraid to go to Hell, but I pretend I’m not, because what’s the alternative?
Hell proved that I was the person I always knew I was, a bad person, willing to torture to get out of pain.  I met an angel, he’s not like I thought.  He’s a soldier, like me, he’s taking orders from a father he can’t see.  He starts out as an ally, but he’s different than the others, they say he likes me.  He’s awkward, he stands too close to me sometimes.  I started the Apocalypse because I wasn’t strong enough.  My brother is going down the wrong path, and I don’t know how to stop it.  The angels tell me Lucifer has to rise, but the one that pulled me out of Hell disobeys to help me stop it.  I think I should consider him a friend.  Lucifer rises anyway.
The angel is on the run from Heaven, he’s a good guy, I like him a lot, more than I think I should.  I don’t know what to do, if I say yes to Michael, we can save some people.  Maybe I’ll get to know peace, maybe my father will be proud of me then.  The angel and my brother are angry at me, but I’ve always been a coward, they just don’t know it.  But they know me best, I can’t say yes to Michael if it means disappointing them.
My brother goes to the cage with Lucifer and Michael, the angel disappears, and I’m left to pick up the pieces, living a life I feel like I stole from somebody else.  I always sleep with a gun and holy water under the bed, even though I know every entrance is secure.  My brother comes back, but he’s different now, he’s not the same, I should have looked for him.  I feel guilty.  We found out his soul is gone, his soul, his soul.  The angel is back, but he’s no real help.  I kill myself to speak to Death, who brings back his soul in exchange for me playing Death, where I learn a few hard lessons.
I find out the angel has been working with our enemies.  Why does it feel like my heart is broken when he won’t meet my eyes?  I leave him to the demons, but not before one last look.  I’m not sure why.  The idiot, he ends up dying trying to get souls from Purgatory, desperate to win his war in Heaven.  Why does everyone leave me?  The Leviathan are out there, a new threat.  At least I know how to kill, so I won’t have to think about the muddy trenchcoat in the trunk of my car.  I lose the closest thing I have to a father with a bullet to the brain.  I feel like I’m spinning out of control.  My brother loses his mind.  The angel comes back, he doesn’t recognize me, that hurts.  When he does remember me, I tell him we need him, but I really mean that I do.
I get sent to Purgatory, I meet a vampire turned ally turned new best friend, but I won’t leave without the angel, I can’t leave without the angel.  We find him, he was running from me, why does everyone run from me?  We make it out of Purgatory, the angel gets left behind.  It turns out my brother didn’t look for me.  Why am I so dispensable?  The vampire is the only one I can trust now.  I dream about the angel, about the way I couldn’t save him.  I feel like I can’t save anyone these days.  I see the angel in the air around me, am I going crazy?  But then he shows up behind me, why do I care so much about him?  I don’t even care where he came from, as long as he’s here.  My brother takes on trials, they start to hurt him.  We find a place to call home.  I’ve never had my own bedroom before.  The angel is distant, I wish I could reach him.  He doesn’t answer my prayers.  He and I find the angel tablet, he hits me.  I tell him I need him, never able to tell him that I think I might love him too.  He snaps out of it then walks out of my life again.  I wish I was lovable.  I almost lose my brother to the trials, he has to know I can’t lose him, he’s all I’ve got.  The angels fall, I wonder about my angel, if he’s alright.
My brother is dying, and I make a deal with an angel to save him.  My angel says he’s a good guy, and I’m too desperate to vet him properly.  I watch my angel, now a human, die in front of me, the angel in my brother saves him, it’s one of the only times I’ve ever put someone else over my brother.  I feel guilty about that.  I have to kick my angel out, it tears me in half to do it, but I have to protect my brother.  I watch the angel from a gas station window, I try to find the courage to go see him.  I use humor to hide how much I miss him.  My brother finds out about the angel, which cost the life of a kid I was supposed to protect, he’s so angry at me.  Well, I deserve it this time.  I take the Mark of Cain to defeat Abaddon, it can’t be all that bad.  I start to lose my grip on myself.  My angel gives up an army for me, and it’s the closest I feel to being me in months. My brother and my angel try to stop it, but it’s too late.  I die in my brother’s arms.
I wake up with black eyes.  I don’t care about anyone, anything.  There’s a tiny part of me that’s screaming to wake up, but I drown him out easily enough.  My brother finds me, says he wants to cure me.  I don’t want it, I don’t want to be me, not feeling is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.  They do cure me though, my brother and my angel, and waking up from the blackness is like surfacing from deep water.  For a while, I feel loved.  But after what I did, I don’t feel like I deserve it.  I’m still not me, and when my friend, who I loved like a sister is taken, I go off the deep end again. It’s too easy, but violence is all I know.  The angel tries to stop me.  I have him where I want him, a blade to the heart and this is all over.  But I still can’t kill him, I still can’t kill the angel.  Death tells me I have to kill my brother.  I almost do it.  But killing Death releases me, and I’m me again.  Sometimes I still wish I wasn’t.
I have this connection to this Darkness.  It scares the hell out of me.  I wish I understood it, I wish I could stop it.  Am I pulled towards the Darkness because I, myself, am darkness?  Is it because I am, because I’ve always been bad?  I lose the angel to Lucifer himself, how did I not notice until it was too late?  Why would he leave me like this?  Will I ever get him back?  My head is foggy around the Darkness, but not when it comes to him.  I just wish I could get through to him.  Lucifer taunts me, my heart rips in half.  We get the angel back, but nothing good can last in this life, can it?  God himself returns, I have to sacrifice myself to stop the Darkness.  I’ll do it, because of course I will, if I have an opportunity to do some good, I’ll take it.  The Darkness doesn’t kill me.  She thanks me.
My mother is alive.  It’s everything I’ve always wanted.  I have to learn fast that she’s not what I thought.  That’s hard.  Me and my brother end up in prison for trying to kill Lucifer, and we find out this girl is going to have his kid.  How will we kill someone innocent?  I can’t think about that, I’m a killer, I’ll kill if i have to.   The angel kills a reaper to save me, but what will happen to him?  We start looking for this kid, but do we even want to find it?  The angel nearly dies for me, he tells me, my family he loves us.  I wish I could tell him the same, but the words won’t work right in my brain, so I do what I always do, I look away.  The angel finds the girl, but the kid inside her gets to him, and he runs away from me.  Why does everyone run from me?  We find them just in time to find a rift to another world, and my brother has to drag me away from the angel, who is going to sacrifice himself to kill Lucifer.  He comes back, but before I can say the words I’ve been holding onto for so long, he dies in front of me, only this time, it’s real.  My mom is taken from me too, and I’m left by the angel’s side, staring up at the sky, wondering why, why me?
I bury the angel, my brother insists we can’t kill the kid, even though it’s his fault my mom is gone and the angel is...  I beg God to bring him back, please, bring him back.  You owe me this, please bring him back.  He doesn’t listen.  I’m alone.  We burn the angel, and I try to learn to live with regret and grief and crippling pain all at once.  I hate the kid, this is his fault.  I kill myself again to save some souls, but also because I want to die this time.  I can’t take it anymore.  Death tells me I have work to do, but how much more work can there be?  How much more can I take?  It’s like the Universe reads my mind, because my angel comes back, and it’s like the last few weeks haven’t happened.  I still can’t say the words, but maybe this time I’ll get there.  Maybe this time.  We go to the other world, we save some people, I find my mom.  I let another Michael from the other world possess me to defeat Lucifer, but then I can’t expel him.  Before he shuts me in my memories, I am desperately afraid.
My brother and the angel find me in my own head, the snap me out of it.  I should have known this bar was too good for me, I knew I didn’t deserve it.  I shut Michael in there, but I know I won’t last long. I think I’m too weak to hold him, so I build a box designed to hold me forever.  I dream about it, claw the sides of the wall until my nails are bloody, but if it’s my eternity or Michael’s rule?  I’ll take the ocean every time.  The angel will always try to save me, I still can’t say the words.  The kid, my kid, he destroys Michael, but something is wrong, and I don;t realize until it’s too late.  My mother is dead, at the hands of the kid, and I have never been angrier.  I hate the kid again, I hate the angel too, I hate myself more.  I pull a gun on the kid, but I still can’t pull the trigger.  Sometimes I wish I could put it to my own head.  God comes back, turns out he was the villain all along.  Typical.  He kills our kid.  I can’t let myself feel.
The angel tries to convince me that we’re real.  How can I believe that?  Is everything I am just a story?  Have I ever chosen anything?  Does the angel really care about me?  Do I really care about him?  Another one of our friends dies.  I blame the angel, I push him away, because I can’t look at him if I think what I feel for him might not be real.  I meet up with someone I loved.  He’s a monster now, I have to kill him.  He dies holding me.  I wish I was dead sometimes too.  My brother is sick, he gets kidnapped by God.  I’m spinning in circles.  Me and the angel end up in Purgatory again.  He gets taken from me.  I’m so alone, so scared, I break down in the one place I could get lost in forever searching for the angel, I don’t want to leave him, please, don’t make me leave him.  I have to keep looking, get back to the real world to save my brother.  How will I choose?  Thank god, or, whatever, I find the angel.  I’ll tell him this time, but he stops me.  He must know.  He doesn’t want me, no one wants me.  Why would they?  Chuck has taken everything from me.  I have to kill him, no matter the cost.  The cost is gonna be our kid, raised from the dead by Death.  I guess the one thing we have going for us is we don’t stay dead for long.  I’m ready to let my kid die for my freedom.  My brother stands in the way, I pull a gun on him.  He talks me down, he’s the only one that can.  I decide to take it out on Death, my pain, my anger, my rage.  I take the angel and we find her, she chases us.  Another trap.  I realize that I’ve trapped us both.  Why am I so worthless?
The angel looks at me.  He smiles.  He tells me how worthy I am, that I’m good, that I changed him.  How can I tell him how he changed me.  He tells me he’ll die for loving me.  Then he shouldn’t, I’m not worth his life.  Don’t leave me, please, I can’t lose you, you don’t know what it does it me when you leave me.  He tells me he loves me.  I try to tell him a fraction of the things I feel for him, but it’s too late.  He’s taken before my eyes, and this time I know there’s no getting him back.
I’m left on the floor, unable to move.
This time I know, I’ll never let myself love again, because my heart is so shattered that it’s powdered, there’s no repairing it now.  I’ve always been broken, but this time I’m not just broken: I’m destroyed.
