NO ONE ASKED HER A QUESTION IN FORTY-FIVE MINUTES.
Naturally, there were many questions about her. How did the drivers feel about a woman joining their ranks on the track? What were their thoughts on the growing number of female fans who were tuning in to watch Formula One, possibly due to the popularity of the documentary Drive to Survive or the historic moment of having the first female driver in decades?
She wasn't sure if this was better or worse than she anticipated. She vividly recalled her first press conference last year when she was still driving for ART Grand Prix. They asked her ridiculous questions like whether it was professional to wear skirts in the paddock (yes), who the most attractive driver was (herself, obviously), and even if her father was disappointed that she reached a milestone in motorsport before her older brother (Dudu, who raced with their father in Brazilian Stock Series. And no, he had already made it clear he was proud of both of them).
In the first few minutes, she assumed it was because she was a rookie. But then Oscar Piastri answered a fair share of questions while looking at her as if he didn't understand why people were treating her like an invisible presence. She would shrug her shoulders and the australian reluctantly answered reporters' inquiries.
She was sandwiched between Lewis, who seemed impatient as time dragged on without any questions directed towards her, and Max Verstappen, who quickly responded to his own questions and showed his eagerness to leave. Two rookies, two world champions, but only three drivers deemed important enough for interviews.
The world-renowned champion's frustration peaked when asked about his recent vacation activities.
"Is this a joke?" he asked. "Do you really want to know what I did on my vacation more than asking her interesting questions?" He gestured towards the girl beside him.
"It's alright, Lewis-"
"With all due respect, Hamilton," one of the reporters interjected with a sarcastic smirk on his face. "I can't imagine what kind of questions we could ask Miss Barrichello besides her makeup preferences or favorite clothing brands."
"How about the fact that I won four championships in a row as a rookie?" She responded with a fake sweet smile plastered on her face. She could accept to be ignored, but she refused to be underestimated. "Or maybe any questions about Porsche joining the grid this year?"
"I don't think winning a championship by such a small margin of points is anything to be praised." The reporter retorted. His expression implied that he wasn't expecting the young girl to comfort him, but he couldn't hold back.
"Really? So we should just say that the battle between Max and Lewis in 2021-" she indicated towards them "-was nothing worth celebrating? Such an uneventful year for this sport."
Verstappen leaned forward, observing the interaction between the girl and the reporter. This press conference just became much more interesting.
"Strong words from someone who has never stepped foot in a race car." He chimed in, agreeing with the youngest person in the room.
"That's not what I meant." The reporter stuttered, noticing the security chief slowly approaching him. The middle-aged man was one of many security guards in the paddock that had known the driver since she was a child, and she knew that one look in his direction and the man would be escorted out.
"Of course, of course," she replied sarcastically. "You mean it's not worth celebrating because a woman won, right? Please, if you're going to insult me, at least try to make it believable. Or better yet, don't speak if you have no idea what you're talking about"
The tension in the room was palpable as another reporter spoke up, "But Y/n, let's be real here. The races were mostly dominated by your teammate, Frederik Vesti or runner-up Felipe Drugovich. Your victories were purely tactical."
She leaned back in her chair with a smug smile playing on her lips. "Is that so? Yet somehow I managed to come out on top every time."
Verstappen nodded in agreement, "She's definitely got a point there."
The press room fell into an intense quiet, causing y/n to regret her decision to do this interview. She knew that this type of situation would become more common as her fame grew in the coming year. She also understood that Lewis would be praised for defending her while she would face criticism for simply standing up for herself against a man who was only doing his job.
The silence was broken by a female journalist in the back, hidden behind the larger, more muscular bodies of her male counterparts. But y/n could never mistake that blonde hair for anyone else. Mariana Becker was a veteran sports reporter, an icon in Brazilian journalism, and a role model for any woman breaking into a male-dominated field.
“I wish I had raised my hand earlier; I didn't realize it would take so long for someone to ask you a question,” she chuckled. "I don't think anyone will object to two questions, right?" The woman looked around the room, and the other interviewers avoided making eye contact with the veteran.
"So, y/n, you've been asked countless times about being a woman in a male-dominated world and the difficulties you face because of it. However, with such a successful junior career full of records, I honestly don't see the need to ask that question again. Instead, I'd like to focus on the positive aspects. What does it mean to you knowing that a new generation of girls can look up to you as an inspiration and be motivated to pursue their dreams?"
The girl's face lit up with gratefulness for the refreshing question and relief that she wouldn't have to answer the same question she had already answered countless times before.
"It's incredibly inspiring for me as well. Growing up in this environment, surrounded by racing cars, I was also discouraged from pursuing this career. But I can only imagine how much more difficult it must have been for young girls who were ridiculed just for dreaming of driving a go-kart. To know that I can play a role in encouraging them to follow their dreams without fear of judgment is truly exciting."
Lewis subtly raised his thumb in a gesture of approval while she chuckled.
"Excellent," said the reporter with a smile. "One more question, how did your father react when you told him you were entering the world of Formula 1?"
"He cried," y/n answered quickly, eliciting laughter from those in the room. "He's quite the crybaby, so I waited until we were together to share the news of my contract with Porsche. At first, he cried tears of joy, then fear, and eventually a mixture of both. That's when he realized that all three of his children were following in his footsteps as race car drivers and that he'd have to pay for everything he put his own father through."
The reporter chuckled along with y/n. Mari had interviewed Rubens back when he was in Formula 1, and remembers clearly how emotional the man always was. The conference went on like this for another half an hour, with y/n answering everything from her expectations for the upcoming season to her favorite tracks and how she dealt with pressure.

The balaclava, damp with sweat, clung tightly to her face as she stood at attention. Her race engineer, a tall black man with a buzzcut and a calm expression, waited patiently beside her. She smoothed down the folds of her crisp, red-and-black uniform, adorned with her country's flag on the sleeve.
"How was the conference?" Jasper asked.
The girl muttered something that Jasper couldn't make out. "That bad? Did they bring up the issue with wearing skirts in the paddock again?"
"They didn't ask anything at first, but then one guy made a comment about me winning the championship by a narrow margin of points not being worthy of praise. Except it wasn't even a narrow margin; Felipe finished about sixty points behind me., and Fred was more than a hundred points behind, despite driving the same car as me" She complained.
Jasper winced. The relationship between the engineer and the driver had been amazing during pre-season tests with the man acting like a friend and a mentor, and they had found a groove to envy.
"You'll need to come up with a strategy for dealing with these reporters," Jasper advised.
"I already have one."
"Really?" He glanced at the clock on the track and realized that time was running out. He handed her the helmet with both hands. She grinned and smoothly put it on. The colors of her country's flag stood out against the black and red of the car, making it impossible to miss.
"Yes. WWJD."
"What does that stand for?"
"What Would Jenson Do. Originally, it was "What Would Kimi Do," but I quickly realized that Kimi would just tell everyone to go fuck themselves, and I can't exactly do that yet."
The garage was a whirlwind of activity, with mechanics frantically making last-minute adjustments and drivers strapping into their cars. The scent of gasoline and burning rubber wafted through the air, adding to the excitement and tension that crackled in the atmosphere.
Everywhere she looked, there were people moving with purpose, each one focused on their individual tasks to ensure a successful first qualifying session of the season. The roar of engines being revved and tools clanging against metal filled her ears, drowning out any other sound. It was a chaotic but exhilarating scene as the countdown to the race began.
"Why not "What Would Rubens Do"?" He asked.
She chuckled. "My dad is too nice. In his only fight in his entire Formula 1 career, he told the mechanic who wanted to fight him to get someone else because he was too small."
Jasper's phone buzzed insistently, jolting him out of his thoughts and reminding him that only five minutes remained until the start of Q1. After the last few adjustments from the mechanics, y/n managed to squeeze into her car and secure her seatbelt. Her heart pounded so hard it felt like it might leap out of her chest, a mix of nerves and excitement coursing through her body as she prepared for the intense competition ahead.
Jasper rested his arms on the halo. "Don't forget what we discussed earlier," he reminded her. "In Q1, six cars will be eliminated, followed by six more in Q2. This means that the top ten fastest cars will battle for pole position. Based on our data, we are definitely faster than Alpha Tauri, Alfa Romeo, Haas, and Williams - a total of eight cars."
The girl nodded eagerly, her eyes glued to the man as he continued. "At the very least, you and Mick should be able to make it into Q2. We're not sure how Alpine and McLaren are doing, but they don't seem to be as quick as us." He gestured towards the track outside where the other teams were busy with their own preparations. "But we can't let our guard down. Anything can happen during quali." The tension was palpable as they both waited for their turn on the track.
"So, we're trying for Q3 then?" She inquired, her voice filled with a mix of curiosity and determination.
"Officially, I was instructed to tell you that Q2 is sufficient, but we can't know our full potential until we're on the track."
A sly grin appeared on her face, hidden behind her helmet. She pushed down her visor, ready to give it her all. "Well, I say let's aim for Q3 then. I want to see what this car can really do."
A gentle laugh escaped Jasper's lips, his eyes shining with admiration. "That's the spirit, echo. Show them what you're made of."
With one final nod, y/n shifted her focus, tuning out the noise and commotion of the pit lane. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, using all her senses to ground herself in the present moment. The smell of burning rubber and gasoline filled her nostrils as she visualized the track ahead. The deafening roar of the engine drowned out all other sounds, sending shivers down her spine.
Jasper's voice crackled through the radio in her ear, sounding like a distant robot. "Radio check," he said, his tone serious and business-like.
She adjusted gloves as she responded, "I hear you loud and clear." Her hands were tightly gripped on the steering wheel as she followed Logan Sargeant's Williams out of the pit lane. It was a tight squeeze with the Porsche garage being the newest addition to the grid. She bit her lip, hoping that their placement in the pit lane wouldn't cause any trouble in the future.
"Great. Warm up your tires and then do a flying lap. We want to get a better idea of our potential and avoid any possible disruptions from a Red Flag," Jasper instructed.
"Roger that," she replied, trying to keep her breathing steady as cars started to move around her. She prayed that the onboard camera wouldn't catch her trembling hands as she prepared for her first real lap on the track.
The engine roared to life as she pressed down on the accelerator, gripping the steering wheel with determination. The car surged forward, its tires screeching against the asphalt, leaving a trail of smoke behind. Adrenaline coursed through her veins, heightening her senses as she focused on the task at hand.
The wind whipped through, carrying with it a symphony of sounds—engines revving, tires squealing, and the distant cheers of the crowd. Her heart pounded in sync with the rhythm of the track, each beat pulsating through her chest.
As the cars whizzed by, she made a conscious effort to stay out of their way while completing her out lap. It was her first Grand Prix, and she wasn't about to receive an impeding penalty. She could feel the engine roaring to life and her car responding with precision, its tires getting ready to set a time that would hopefully secure her from elimination in the initial round.
Jasper's voice crackled through the radio once again. "Alright, you're good to go. Try your best," he encouraged, his voice filled with unwavering support.
"Copy." She smirked.
The pre-tests and free practice had prepared her for what was to come, but nothing could have truly prepared her for the exhilaration of sitting behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. The engine purred like a fierce beast, ready to unleash its power at any moment. The sleek body of the car hugged the track, cutting through the air with precision and grace.
As she approached the first turn, she braked hard, shifting her weight to navigate the corner with precision. The G-forces pressed against her body, threatening to tear her away from reality. But she held firm, refusing to let anything distract her from the objective ahead.
She feathered the throttle, feeling the car respond to her slightest movements. The tires gripped the track, providing a sense of stability as she accelerated out of the turn, leaving her the other car trailing behind. Y/n's focus was unwavering, her eyes fixated on the next set of corners, mentally calculating her approach.
The flying lap was over in an instant, and the sound of the cheering crowd filled her ears as she crossed the finish line and set her initial time.
"Way to go, girl!" Jasper's voice crackled through the radio. "You've got P8, I repeat, P8. We're safely into Q2, but stay on track just in case. Prepare for another quick lap."
"How did Mick do?" she asked eagerly.
"P10, 0.78 seconds behind you," Jasper's voice was filled with pride as he responded. Despite his efforts to maintain professionalism, they were both rookies in the Formula 1 world, even if in different roles. "I got a great feeling about us, Barrichello. This could be the beginning of something legendary."

The minutes seemed to stretch into hours as she waited for the race to begin and she started to feel claustrophobic inside her cramped driver's room.
Finally, unable to bear the suffocating atmosphere any longer, she stepped outside into the bustling garage. The sight of her team, clad in matching uniforms and working tirelessly on their cars, brought a small smile to her face. As she made her way through the maze of mechanics and equipment, she was greeted with reassuring smiles and words of encouragement.
This was not just her first race, but also the team's inaugural race. In a way, they were all rookies, feeling the pressure and nerves just as she was.
Standing outside, it was clear that several eyes were on her. Some, like the veteran Ferrari mechanics who had known her since she was a little girl, flashed comforting smiles and gave her thumbs up, wishing her the best of luck. Others raised their eyebrows with skepticism, as if they believed her presence on the grid was some sort of elaborate prank that hadn't been revealed yet.
Amidst a sea of red and black uniforms, the bright green outfit of the two-time world champion stood out prominently. Fernando paid no mind to the curious glances from his mechanics as he made his way confidently towards the girl.
"You're not allowed in here, Alonso." She teased, playfully crossing her arms in a gesture that made her seem much older than she was.
"Is that how it is now? You qualify in the Top 10 in your first race and all of a sudden I'm just Alonso, not Nando?" He responded with a chuckle. Clutching his heart dramatically, he leaned back as if struck by sudden agony. "What happened to all our pizza days? They meant nothing to you?"
The character she was playing no longer felt right to her, and the words she spoke didn't align with the expression on her face. She fought to suppress a smile as she continued, "That person you knew, Alonso? She is gone now."
As the man approached, she couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity wash over her. His dark hair and intense brown eyes were etched into her memory, but it was his infectious smile that brought back a flood of childhood memories.
Fernando rested his hands on her shoulders and held onto his helmet, which puzzled her. With only a few minutes left before the race began, he could have easily stored it in his own garage rather than carrying it around. But she pushed those thoughts aside as his gaze softened and he spoke.
"You were the size of a flea when I met you," he said with a chuckle. She smiled at the memory of their first encounter. She had been just six years old at the time, tagging along with her father to one of his races. She remembered being mesmerized by the speed and energy of the cars on the track, but also feeling a little intimidated by the loud noises and bustling crowds.
But then she saw him – Alonso – standing tall and proud in his racesuit. He had noticed her watching him from behind the fence and had flashed her a tight smile. Somehow, from that one interaction, she had become a fan. From then on, whenever she visited the track with her father, she would always seek out Fernando.
Initially, the Spaniard couldn't comprehend why the young girl found him so intriguing. He knew he was talented and quick on the race track, but children were not his forte. Alonso would often try to distance himself from the girl, offering only friendly waves and smiles. However, when she presented him with a drawing of himself on the podium with a trophy (which he still keeps today), everything changed.
"You used to avoid me like the plague," she recalled.
"That's not entirely true," Fernando denied, but quickly changed his tune when the girl raised an eyebrow. "Okay, maybe I wasn't too fond of being followed around by a little girl. Can you blame me? If anything happened to you, I would have to deal with your father, Michael, Kimi, and all the mechanics that you had wrapped around your finger."
He became somewhat of figure between an older brother and a father figure to her, always ready with words of encouragement and advice.
Now here they were, both grown up and about to race against each other for the very first time.
"I can't believe we're finally racing against each other," she said with a mixture of excitement and nerves.
"It's about time," Fernando replied with a smirk. "I've been waiting for this moment since you beat me in go-karts."
A smile tugged at her lips as she recalled the moment. During one of his trips with her family to cheer her on during her junior career, they decided to have some fun and race go-karts. She had managed to beat him by mere thousandths of a second, and she made sure to remind him of it constantly afterwards.
"What's on the agenda for today, Mija?" He asked, looking around at the girl's garage.
"Hah, like I would share that with you. I love you, Nando, but now we're competitors." She narrowed her eyes playfully. "You're just trying to take advantage because we're close."
"You got me." He chuckled, knowing it wasn't entirely true.
She sighed and crossed her arms with a hesitant expression. "Rule number one is to not crash into Mick. Number two is to avoid crashing into anyone else. Our team isn't expecting a stellar performance, so if we can maintain our starting positions, both cars will score points. That's our main goal."
"Oh, come on. Don't you want to try overtaking someone?" he prodded.
Y/N laughed. "Why? You want to see me in your rearview mirror?"
"Of course I do," he admitted. "Competing for a win with you would be incredible."
He pushed his helmet towards the girl, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. Confused, she tilted her head in question. “I appreciate the gift, but I think you’ll need it today.”
Fernando laughed, memories flooding back to him. “Remember when your dad retired and you started coming to races with me?”
The memories flooded back, of her father's days in the high-stakes world of Formula 1. Though he had since retired, Fernando still managed to convince Rubens to allow her to travel with him to races closer to her home, and sometimes even to the grand prix in his homeland.
She quickly caught on to his request and playfully darted away from him before snagging the helmet. It had become a tradition since she was ten years old, and Fernando had unofficially taken on the role of her godfather. She used to do this same routine with her own father, so it felt natural to continue with the spaniard. He stood there, slightly perplexed, wondering if he had said or done something wrong. But just moments later, the young girl returned with her own helmet in hand.
"Wouldn't it be fair for you to do the same for me this time?" she asked playfully.
The two exchanged helmets and planted a kiss on the part of the helmet that would soon cover each other's foreheads.
"Stay safe, Nando"
"You too. Give us hell"

"It's an easy overtake for Barrichello in the Porsche, and she takes the position from Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin!" David Croft's voice rings across the circuit, and the crowd roars, the flags from her country and Germany flying around.
"Great job!" The voice of her race engineer appears in her ear, breaking through her intense concentration. "Russell is 1.2 ahead, close the gap to be able to use DRS when it is enabled."
"Copy" she nods, instinctively, her eyes never leaving the track ahead. She knows what she needs to do, and she pushes her car to its limits, weaving through the curves and straights with precision and skill.
As she closes the gap between her and the british driver, she can feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins. She's in her element, in the midst of the intense competition that she lives for.
"0.7. Go for it, elbows out" Jasper said again.
The cheers of the pit crew resounded in her ears as she used the extra boost to overtake the Mercedes. It was a challenge to defend against George's attempts at whiplash and reclaim her position, but once they were off the main straight, she managed to create a considerable gap between them.
The rest of the race flew by in a blur. The girl lost track of her position, constantly overtaking some cars only to be overtaken shortly after. However, Jasper's encouraging words kept her going.
Jasper's voice crackled through the radio as she approached the final stretch of the race. "Virtual safety car, slow down," he instructed.
She quickly checked her rearview mirror, looking for her teammate. "Is it ours?" she asked.
"No, it's Leclerc in the Ferrari," Jasper replied, "which puts us in fifth place."
She could see Hamilton was more than five seconds behind, and the yellow flag meant that Alonso was slowing down ahead of her.
"As soon as the VSC is lifted, you'll have a clear shot to overtake," Jasper added.
Who would have thought that she would be right on Fernando's heels after all?
After a few laps of caution due to the previous incident, the green flags were waved and she wasted no time in accelerating towards the Aston Martin driven by the Spaniard. She steadily closed the gap between them until she was right behind him. However, just as she was about to make a move to pass him, he outmaneuvered Carlos Sainz's Ferrari.
In a swift and calculated maneuver, she positioned her car on the inside of Sainz, who seemed too focused on reclaiming his position to check his mirrors. Taking advantage of his momentary lapse of attention, she quickly overtook him.
Jasper's voice was filled with excitement as he shouted, "That's it, echo! What a fantastic move!" She could almost hear the smile in his tone. "Alonso is already ten seconds ahead, so concentrate on defending now."
The final laps seemed like a blur, the girl steadily increasing the gap between her and the Ferrari with each lap.
"It's a flawless performance from Porsche, with both cars scoring points on this historic day. Mick Schumacher equals his best career finish with an incredible P6, and Y/N Barrichello takes fourth place, becoming the first woman to score in a Formula 1 race since Lella Lombardi and achieving the highest position for a woman in history!"
The sound of the bustling cheers from the Porsche garage fills her ears as she struggled to park the car with trembling hands. “Unbelievable! P4, y/n, P4! We scored 21 points and Mick got the fastest lap. What a start,” Jasper exclaims over the radio.
She stepped out of the car on shaky legs and is immediately greeted by Carlos, who had parked his car behind hers. “Where did you come from?” he asked with a chuckle. “I was trying to overtake Fernando, and suddenly you were right beside me.”
She took off her helmet and balaclava, her hair damp with sweat and sticking to her forehead and neck. She culdn't help but laugh. "Next time, check your mirrors," She teases her good-naturedly.
A hand rested on her shoulder, and she was suddenly enveloped in a warm embrace. The sweat that coated both of them didn't matter, nor did the fact that she still needed to weigh herself. She squeezed Mick even tighter and they both seemed too overjoyed to let go.
He took a step back but kept his arms around her. "Fourth place in your first race! I told you not to worry," the German exclaimed proudly.
"And look who's talking with the fastest lap!" She laughed in agreement. "We did it, Mick. We fucking did it."
A bottle of water suddenly appeared in her line of sight, and she turned to thank the person who handed it to her. To her surprise, it was Lewis with a smile on his face.
"If you had just overtaken one more person, you would have joined the club," he joked, pointing to Kevin Magnussem, who appeared to be deep in conversation with his teammate. "It was quite a race for the two of you."
"Honestly, I wasn't expecting to end up anywhere higher than where I started, so P4 is already a great achievement," she replied with a laugh as she took the cold bottle from him. The girl then turned to Lewis again and asked about his own race.
"P7. Mick managed to pass me on the last lap," he responded, glancing over at the young driver who chuckled in response.
The adrenaline was still pumping through her veins as y/n made her way to the weighing machines. She couldn't believe it, a P4 finish on her debut race. It seemed like a dream come true.
She stepped onto the scales, trying to calm her racing heart. The number flashed on the screen, and she let out a sigh of relief. "Phew, just made it," she muttered to herself.
Grabbing a towel to wipe off the sweat from her face, she quickly discarded her race suit at her hips, and made her way to her garage in her white fireproofs.
To an outsider, it might have seemed like the team had just won a world championship, not a P6 and P4. People were clapping her on the back and embracing Mick, and she struggled to decipher the various voices exclaiming with joy.
Jasper appeared in front of her with a bottle of champagne in hand. "Congratulations y/n, you did amazing out there!" he exclaimed before popping open the bottle and spraying champagne everywhere.
She laughed as some of the bubbly liquid hit her skin. "Thanks Jasper! I couldn't have done it without your perfect strategy. Great call with the tyres"
He grinned at her before turning serious. "But seriously y/n, you did a great job out there. We're all so proud of you." The rest of the team joined them in cheers and congratulations.
Before they could continue their conversation, Adrian, the team principle, arrived at their garage looking ecstatic. "Great job everyone! A double-points finish for our debut race, this is just the beginning." He raised his glass of champagne before taking a sip.
Y/n looked around and couldn't help but feel proud of her team. They had come a long way since their first tests together. And now here they were, competing in one of the most prestigious racing championships in the world.
Adrian turned to her with a smile. "Y/n, I must say you exceeded all expectations today. You have proven yourself as a valuable addition to our team." He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Keep up the good work."
She couldn't help but blush at his words and nod gratefully. This was everything she had ever dreamed of - to be part of a successful racing team and make her mark in the sport.
As the celebrations continued, y/n couldn't help but think about how far she had come. From fighting for sponsorships to competing against some of the best drivers in the world, it felt like a dream come true.
But amidst all the excitement and joy, there was still one thing weighing on her mind - her family. She missed them terribly and wished they could be here to witness her success.
Just then, her phone buzzed.
"Muito orgulhoso de você filhota. Eu sabia que você ia arrasar! Me liga quando acabar tudo aí" — PAPAI. (so so proud of you, baby. i knew you would rock it! call me once you're done with everything there.)
Soon after, her older brother's name appeard on her phone as well. A quick congrats was followed by a video. Tapping on it, she couldn't contain the tears as she watched her father by the TV, holding tightly their flag and exploding in joy as the checkered flag was waved and his daughter finished in fourth.
He erupted with happiness, leaping and embracing her siblings and close friends who had gathered to witness her debut. He would excitedly point towards the television, shouting with pride, "There she is! My little girl!"
A big smile crept onto her face as she quickly replied back with an update on how things were, and a promise to video call her family as soon as she was cleared from the media.
"Time for the boring stuff now. Ready for the interviews?" Mick pulled her out of her thoughts. He had his phone on his hand, and she imagined he was also communicating with his family. "I can go first, if you want."
She took a deep breath, and smiled. "It's okay, i'll go. There's nothing they can say that could ruin my day. Not anymore."

The library is supposed to be your sanctuary. It’s supposed to be where you can go and be with the books, spending time picking out the perfect one before settling down in a chair to see what new adventure awaits you within the pages. But he’s here again. The metal head who thinks it’s fun to pick on you. It’s no secret that people at school are constantly calling him a freak, so he obviously knows what it’s like to be teased and picked on. So why does he do it to you?
The paperback in your hands is pretty small, but that doesn’t stop you from trying to hide your face behind it, hoping Eddie doesn’t notice you. But you know it didn’t work when you hear the chair on the opposite side of the table from you being pulled back and someone drops down into it.
“Hey, bookworm.”
Taking a moment to close your eyes and take a deep breath behind the cover of the book, you lower it and give Eddie the most unfriendly smile you can manage.
“Edward.”
“Don’t call me that,” he says, wrinkling up his nose.
“Don’t call me bookworm,” you retort.
“It’s not a bad thing,” Eddie says.
You ignore him and go back to reading. Well, pretending to read anyway, but really waiting for him to get up and leave.
“Whatcha reading?”
Slowly, you lower the book down enough where you can peer over the side of it where it clearly shows the title.
“Little Women,” you answer anyway.
“So, like, girls?”
“Sure.”
“What’s it about?”
“Eddie,” you say with a sigh. You lower the book down and slide your bookmark into the page you left off on. “What do you want?”
He leans back in his seat and frowns at you as he laces his fingers behind his head.
“To know what your book is about,” he says, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
“No,” you say with a shake of your head. “What do you really want?”
The bell rings and you don’t give him time to answer your question before your things are back in your backpack and you’re out the door.
Luckily, you don’t see Eddie the rest of the day. The next day, you’re not as lucky. As you're getting the books you need out of your locker, you see Eddie coming down the hall out of the corner of your eye. Hurrying so he doesn’t have the chance to come and tease you, you swap out your things and clutch what you need to your chest. You hardly make sure your locker is properly closed before you’re turning away and walking quickly down the hallway, hoping he won’t spot you.
When you step into your French class, you finally release the breath you’ve been holding in your chest. Head down so no one else will notice you, you open your French notebook and turn it to a clean page for the start of class.
Someone drops down in the seat next to you, but you don’t look their way until you feel them leaning into your personal space. You’re shocked when Billy Hargrove is there, so close to you, an easy smile on his lips.
“Hey, smart girl.”
You’d bet good money he’s calling you that because he doesn’t know your real name.
“Um, hi,” you say. There’s a group of girls on the other side of the classroom who are whispering to each other as they watch the two of you.
Billy’s tongue pokes out against his top lip as he looks at you through his thick eyelashes. It’s a look you’ve seen him give dozens of girls around school. He wants something. And you know it’s not you, so that leaves only one other option.
“You’re really good at this French stuff, yeah? Well, to tell you the truth, I’m struggling a little bit. Do you think there’s any way you could help me out with that? I’d really appreciate it.” It’s a good thing you’re sitting because his smile is enough to make your knees give out.
“I’m not really a tutor,” you tell him, shrugging your shoulders. It’s the truth, but you’re also pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to understand your French because he’d make you a stuttering mess just by looking at you.
“Anything I can do to change your mind?” Billy asks, tilting his head. His voice is so sultry it should be illegal.
“I-I don’t think so.”
Billy tsks and shakes his head.
“Well, damn. Let me know if you change your mind, sweetheart.” He knocks his fist against your desk before going back to his own seat.
The teacher walks in and everyone takes their seats, one of the girls who was whispering about you taking her seat right behind you.
“You’re not as smart as everyone says you are,” she leans forward to whisper in your ear.
Mrs. Shay has her back to the class so you take the opportunity to turn around to face the girl.
“What?”
“For a nerd, you’re pretty dumb. Billy Hargrove was willing to spend time with you and you said no. Tell me, how many guys actually want to be around you? Let alone ones that look like Billy.”
You quickly spin back around so she can’t see the tears forming in your eyes. She’ll only be meaner if she sees she gets a reaction out of you. It’s hard to concentrate for the rest of the class, both interactions replaying in your head the whole period.
Lunch is next and you can’t bring yourself to go into the cafeteria full of students. It’s a nice day out so you decide to go sit outside and eat your sandwich in peace. You’re looking forward to picking up your spot in Little Women as you settle on the grass, back resting against the brick building, but come up empty after looking in your bag.
“No,” you whine to yourself as you double check for the book. Still not there. You must’ve left it in your locker. Alone with just your thoughts and your sandwich, the lunch period seems to go on forever. You get up a few moments before it’s over and go to your locker to grab your novel in case you get a chance to read it in any of your afternoon classes. But it’s not there either. You slam your locker door closed and knock your forehead against it. Where the hell did your book go?
“Hey! Bookworm!”
You don’t need to look up to know who’s calling for you. There have been many times in the past you’ve been grateful your locker is right next to the girl’s room, and this is another one, as you slip in, acting like you didn’t hear Eddie.
Once the bell rings, you wait a minute for the halls to fill with students before joining the sea of teenagers. A quick glance around and there’s no sign of Eddie. You don’t press your luck though and make a beeline straight for your biology class.
The end of the school day can’t come fast enough. Heading to the library after the final bell is like being a salmon swimming upstream as everyone makes for the exits. A sigh leaves your lips once you’re safely inside and find a table in the corner to hide yourself at. Unfortunately, you’re only allowed a few peaceful moments.
“There you are, bookworm.”
It feels like the last straw. You groan and drop your head down to the table, but Eddie still pulls out the seat across from you and plops down in it.
“I’ve been trying to give this back you.” There’s a slide across the table and you pick your head up to see your tattered paperback of Little Women. “You dropped it in the hallway this morning. I tried calling for you but I guess you didn’t hear me.”
“Oh,” you say, stomach sinking with guilt. “Thank you.” You’d just come to expect the worst from people, so Eddie’s act of kindness comes as a surprise.
“No problem,” Eddie says. He leans forward on his forearms and smiles at you. It’s such an open and kind smile that it makes your head feel a little fuzzy. You’d never noticed how pretty Eddie is before. His dark eyes watch you and your cheeks heat up under his gaze.
“You know,” Eddie says. “I don’t think I could’ve forgiven Amy.”
“What?” you ask, face scrunching in confusion.
Eddie nods his head towards the book on the table between the two of you.
“Amy. She burnt Jo’s manuscript. That’s pretty shitty. And I’m pretty sure Laurie is in love with Jo.”
“Oh.” You look down at the cover of Little Women, your fingers coming up to ghost over the edges. “You’ve read it?”
“I started to,” Eddie says with a shrug. “Just don’t tell O’Donnell I was reading that in class today instead of listening to her drone on and on.”
“You were reading it today?” you ask.
“Yeah,” Eddie says. He looks down at the table in front of him and knocks his shiny silver rings a few times on the wood. “You didn’t tell me what it was about yesterday, so I decided to find out.”
Thinking back to Eddie finding you in the library yesterday, you remember him asking about what you were reading. You’d assumed it was some ploy to make fun of you, but it seems he was genuinely curious. The guilt tightens your stomach even further. You’re not sure how to apologize without admitting to him you’d assumed he was being an asshole.
“Um, do you want to finish the book? See how it ends?” You extend it to him and Eddie’s head snaps up to look at you.
“Really?” he asks, sounding more excited than you’d expect.
“Sure,” you say. “I’ve read it three times already so I’m in no hurry to finish it. Go ahead.”
Eddie’s face lights up in a grin and you mentally shake yourself for never noticing how absolutely adorable he is before.
“Thanks,” he says. He takes it from you and holds it in his hands like it’s precious and made of glass, not a book that looks like it’s weathered many storms. “Maybe when I’m done we could talk about it?”
Now it’s your turn to be surprised.
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah,” he says, avoiding your eyes. “Maybe we could get coffee or something? Or, pizza if you don’t like coffee.”
You stare at him for a moment before responding.
“You want to hang out with me? Voluntarily?”
His face pinches into a frown as he meets your eyes again.
“Why do you sound so surprised?” he asks.
“I just…” You sigh. “You’re always calling me a bookworm. I figured you were picking on me like everyone else does.”
“Oh.” His face falls and he quickly shakes his head. “Shit, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know that bothered you so much.” He sets the book down and rubs his hands over his face. “I guess I was just teasing. I’m not good with emotions and feelings.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“What do you mean?” you ask.
“Ugh,” he groans, but there’s a shy smile on his face. “You know how in, like, third grade, how boys will sometimes pick on girls they like?”
“Yeah,” you say with a nod, clearly missing the hidden message in the question.
He huffs a laugh and gestures to himself.
“Guess I’m about as mature as a third grader.”
Your eyes widen and Eddie can’t help but chuckle in amusement at the look.
“You’re saying you like me? Is…is that what you’re saying?”
“You’re supposed to be the clever one here,” Eddie says with a smirk.
“And you’re…you’re serious?”
He frowns at this and leans in closer towards you.
“I would never joke like that. I know what it’s like to be picked on. It fucking sucks. I’m not about to inflict that on someone else. Especially someone as cute as you.”
Heat blooms on your face, so warm you’re sure you must look like a tomato. Eddie sits up, straightening in pride that he had that effect on you.
“Um, okay,” you say quietly. “Well, finish that book and we’ll go talk about it over pizza.”
“Like…a date?” Eddie asks in a hopeful voice.
“Yeah, a date.” You can’t help the giddy smile that comes to your face.
“Shit, I better get started then.” Eddie opens the book and leans back in his seat. You giggle, thinking he’s joking, but you see his eyes start to actually scan the pages as he reads. Taking advantage of his distraction, you let yourself look over him. His frizzy hair hangs at his shoulders, bangs pushed to the left side of his forehead. His long body reclines in the chair as he reads, his tongue poking out of his pretty lips. He’s beautiful.
You can’t wait until he’s finished with the book. Then he’ll understand what you mean when you say you’d love to be the Jo March to his Friedrich Bhaer.

Hi! I’m starting to learn French and one thing that’s both cool and weird to me is how everything is gendered in a way (referring to someone/whose saying the statement/etc.) and I was wondering how that relates to people who identity as non-binary or gender fluid in France? Are there equivalents to they/them pronouns or neo pronouns in French?
I do plan on doing my own research about this but I figured since I love your blog and you’re really open about different cultural lgbtq+ communities I’d try here first!
That's an awesome question... with a complicated answer lmao. So buckle up and bear with me !
Basically, you can't be non-binary in French. The community found ways to do it but it's not mainstream. Most of the time, they're going to get misgendered or will have to misgender themselves to get understood.
Some things I'm going to list here are not proper French. Actually, they can even be forbidden in some circumstances, according to the law (the use of inclusive language, and more specifically le point médian, was made illegal in schools in 2021 for ex) or simply because your company etc forbids it. So use this wisely, there is a time and place for inclusive language in France.
That said, things have greatly developed over the last two decades. Which was partly because of the queer community and mainly because of feminists, who are tired of the way French erases women. More and more people are using inclusive language, at least in some circumstances and circles (for ex, i wrote my master's thesis in inclusive language and it was accepted bc i was in a leftist faculty). And inclusive language is debated as a serious issue now, which is saying something.
So, how do you use inclusive language in practice?
There are different ways, as it's informal and mostly new. People are still testing new things and trying out various methods. You can stick to one or alternate or mix them up.
Pronouns
Officially, there isn't a gender neutral pronoun. We don't have an equivalent to they. You're either talking about a man or a woman. If it's both, you use masculine pronouns ("masculine trumps feminine" rule). Same thing if you don't know the gender of the person ("masculin générique").
The most common neopronoun is "iel" (plural : iels), which is obviously a contraction of the masculine pronoun "il" and its feminine equivalent "elle". It works for nb folks or to avoid talking about someone's gender or to refer to a group of men and women. So it's equally used by the queer community and feminists.
I'm pretty sure other neopronouns exist but I can't think of any at the top of my head.
Choosing the right words
Sometimes, inclusive language is just about learning to use alternatives.
Instead of using gendered words, you can choose to use gender-neutral words or words "épicènes", aka words which are identical in their feminine and masculine form. For ex, instead of "homme politique" or "femme politique", you can use "personnalité politique". Personnalité is a feminine word but it's actually gender-neutral as you can use it for women and men alike. "Élève" (student) is épicène, as a female student and a male student are both referred to as "élève". Although épicène words as a gender-neutral option only work in their plural form, as you have to choose either a feminine or masculine article for the singular ("les élèves" is inclusive but it can only be "un" or "une" élève).
As good as this method is, it can be quite limitating. Your vocabulary will be drastically reduced and it can be quite hard to master that kind of speech so you can reach the point where you don't have to think everything over for ages before you open your mouth.
With oral French, you can take it a step further by choosing words that sound the same even if they have a different spelling. Ex, friend is "ami" or "amie" but it's pronounced the same way so if you say it out loud, people can't know how you're gendering it (as long as there isn't a gendered article/word with it ofc).
It avoids misgendering people but the downside is that, as masculine is considered neutral in French, people will often think : no gender specified = masculine. Not even because they're sexist or whatever, it's just so ingrained in our brains that it's a knee-jerk reaction.
That's also why most feminists often prefer to use explicitly feminine words when talking about women. For ex, they prefer the word "autrice" to "auteure" (female writer) because the second one sounds the same as its masculine version "auteur". And as previously mentionned, out loud, people will assume by default you're talking about a man. It's a big debate though, lots of women prefer words that sound masculine - going as far as refusing to use feminine words at all! Which sounds cool and gender-bending as fuck but in reality comes from feminine words traditionally seen as less legitimate and serious. Even today, if you look up the word empress "impératrice" in a French dictionary, the first definition that comes up is "wife of an emperor". "Woman ruling a country" comes second. Using a masculine title to refer to women can also be a way to mock them and show they're not welcome (a french deputy got fined in 2014 because he called the female president of the national assembly "Madame le président" and refused to use the feminine title "Madame la présidente").
Recently the tendency and official guidelines have been to feminize words, so I'd say go with that by default, but respect other people's choice if they specify how they want to be called.
Anyway I'm getting off-track but what I meant was that in French, if you avoid talking about gender, you're automatically erasing women (and nb people). So if you want to include everyone, you need to make it obvious.
Inclusivity as a statement
The most common way to make women and men equally visible is the "point médian" rule, which you can also use to refer to non-binary people as it avoids picking a specific gender.
Basically, it means pasting together the masculine and feminine forms of a word and using dots/middle dots/hyphens/parentheses/capital letters to create an inclusive word. For ex, instead of saying acteur (♂️) or actrice (♀️) for actor, you'll write "acteur.ice". For the plural form, there are two schools of thought : either you separate the feminine and masculine form AND the suffix used to signify the plural, or you don't. Aka, "acteur.ice.s" or "acteur.ices". Personally I prefer the second option because less dots makes it easier to read and faster to write, but it's an individual choice, both work.
There are two major downsides to this method : it only works in writing + it isn't doable for every word, as feminine and masculine words can be quite different and pasting them together that way would be unintelligible. Ex, "copain" and "copine" (friend or boyfriend/girlfriend depending on the context) would give something like "cop.ain.ine"...
You can work around that by choosing alternative words (as previously stated!). And it's still a pretty good method, especially as it works for any type of word (adjectives etc). Some people argue that it's hard to read and ugly but personally I think it's just a matter of habit (although it does pose a problem for people using screen readers). Be aware that it is the most controversial version of inclusive writing, as it's the furthest structure from how languages typically work.
If you don't like dots or want an alternative for oral speech, you can also straight up create new words that sound both feminine and masculine, making them gender-neutral. To use the previous example, "copain" and "copine" become "copaine".
Obviously, this only works if it's obvious which words they're based on. I think it's a great way to make French more inclusive but I'd advise against using it with uninitiated people as it would probably confuse them more than anything. This method is still quite niche.
An inclusive, yet binary language
As you've probably figured out, inclusive language remains quite binary in the way we approach it. It's more about making things both masculine and feminine than transcending gender and creating gender-neutral alternatives. Probably because inclusive language was more often a will to stop women from being erased rather than a non-binary friendly gesture.
Which means, there are also some rules that were created to avoid the "masculine trumps feminine rule" but don't allow room for non-binarity at all. I'll still explain them because they're interesting and you might encounter them at some point.
The proximity rule ("règle de proximité") is one of these. It existed in Ancient Greek and Latin but was dropped in Modern French in favor of the masculine trumps feminine rule. Basically, you gender things according to what's closest in the sentence instead of systematically using masculine words to gender a mixed group. For ex, instead of saying "Les hommes et les femmes sont beaux" you say "Les hommes et les femmes sont belles", as the subject "femmes" is closer to the adjective "beau/belle" than "hommes".
Another method is to systematically use both masculine and feminine words (which I personally find excruciating to write and read). Meaning, instead of writing "Les étudiants mangent à la cantine" (students eat at the cafeteria), you'll write "Les étudiantes et les étudiants mangent à la cantine".
This is mainly for the subject of the sentence : adjectives and such are gendered according to the masculine trumps feminine rule. The point is to explicitly include women, not to make the sentence unintelligible or gender-neutral.
When following this method, you also have to pay attention to whether you put the feminine subject first or the masculine. The rule is to follow alphabetical order. For ex, in "l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes", "femmes" comes first because F comes before H. But in "Les auteurs et les autrices de roman", "auteurs" comes first because E comes before R. Etc.
This method is common as it's the only inclusive language you can get away with, given that it's a valid way of speaking French. It's even mandatory in some situations now, like in job descriptions for the french administration, in the spirit of gender equality.
So, how do I gender a non-binary person?
In short, you can use the pronoun iel + avoid gendered words and/or use the point médian and/or make up new words.
But keep in mind that if you're not talking to someone familiar with these rules, you'll have some explaining to do. And looots of people are still very anti inclusive language, because they're sexist and/or transphobic, ignorant, language purists, etc. A few years ago it was the thing to be angry about for conservatives and anti-feminists so it's still very controversial. But if you're in a trans inclusive queer space or talking with intersectionnal leftists, go for it !
I hope I covered everything (fellow french, don't hesitate to comment!) and didn't put you to sleep lmao. If you want to see some examples, you can look it up on Wikipedia or check #bagaitte on tumblr (it's the french queer tag) 😉

mornings spent well - cl16
Tumblr media
pairing: charles leclerc x reader (basically gn, just one mention as bride)
summary: You woke up in a bed, where the sheets felt like a bad night out with your friends. And that’s exactly what happened the night before.
pt. 2 / pt. 3
word count: 1.5k
warnings: none, maybe a bit angst, generally fluff, google translated french
note: it’s weird writing about existing people, so just ignore the awkwardness plus it’s not proofread
masterlist / taglist
Your head was spinning, and you felt like you would throw up any second if you moved your body more. You closed your eyes in hopes the world would stop spinning. Breath in, breathe out. You tried to remember what happened last night, but all that came to your mind, or more your mouth, was that awful taste of tequila.
You didn’t like tequila, its taste is weird, you don’t understand the salt and lime thing and it makes you do questionable choices. Like waking up in someone’s bed. That’s exactly what happened, because those sheets weren’t itching like crazy, and they actually felt cozy.
You lifted those cozy sheets to discover nothing. You weren’t naked, you were wearing shirt and underpants? And your socks are still on? Who undressed you last night and they were too polite to actually undress you? Not that you complained, you’d rather wear this than nothing.
With a sigh you wanted to get up without puking. But the moment you were ready to take the first step of sitting up the door opened.
You looked to your left and there was an empty bedside. The covers were pulled back and you saw the crease in the pillow, obviously from someone sleeping on it. You still weren’t sure where you were. This wasn’t the bedroom of your best friend nor was it of someone you knew and had been at their home.
The person standing in the doorway watched your every move, from looking at the bedside to wandering your gaze over the bedroom and finally landing on him. He saw you looking at him and locking eyes. A familiar feeling overtook both of your bodies, and you just couldn’t place what that feeling was.
The handsome man was still looking at you and you couldn’t lift your gaze from him as well. His hand reached his neck where he scratched it. As he took his hand back down you saw it, a silver wedding band. You slept in a married mans bed?! You lifted both your hands to your face to rub your eyes and that’s when your silver wedding band sprung in your eyes.
You had a wedding band? And the same one as the man standing in the doorway?
He cleared his throat and you looked at him. “This is awkward”, he said as he was scratching his neck once again, this time with his right hand. You cleared your throat too, nut trusting your voice after too much tequila from last night.
“Qu’est-ce qu’on va faire, merde. What are we gonna do, shit.” So, he spoke French. But you still didn’t know his name. “I guess, I mean looking at the evidence on our hands, I guess we are married?” Your voice went quieter the more you spoke. You were still hoping it wasn’t true or a dream, but his answer let those hopes disappear in a second.
“Oui, I guess we are married. You woke up in my bed and we both have a ring on our ring finger, that counts as something right?”
You let your body hit the mattress. Your head still hurting, not spinning as much, but still hurting like a bitch. And it made processing the new information very hard. “Okay, so let me get it straight; we don’t know each other, but we got married last night?” Your questionable look made him scoff.
“I know you, what are you talking about?” Now it was you who was scoffing. What did he mean by ‘I know you’? You were thinking hard, where could you have seen this man before. “Charles, Charles Leclerc, we met last week in that coffee shop where you work, and you gave me your number on the coffee cup? Do you recall?”
It hit you like a brick, of course you remember! You couldn’t believe you forgot that gorgeous face. You gave him your number, but he never texted you.
“You never texted me”, you stated. His face twisted into an apologetic look. “I texted you last night?” He was shrugging and you could see his whole upper body tense under the action. This man was built like a Greek statue. “I was in this club with my friends, and I was feeling lonely, that’s when I remembered I had put your number into my phone, so I texted you.”
“And what happened next?”, you had to ask, how did they go form texting to marrying? “You showed up and we took some tequila shots and that’s all I can remember.” His face said it all, the look of confusion and sorrowness. He didn’t know how they got from shots to this.
This was a disaster. All of this is not how you like to spend your mornings. And he didn’t like it that much as well.
He lifted his body from the doorframe and started to walk towards you. He was just a breathtaking view. “Au moins j’ai épousé une belle mariée. At least I married a beautiful bride.”
He looked at you like you were the most beautiful thing on this planet. And he thought you were, he thought it the moment he saw you behind the coffee machine. He was so glad he discovered your number on his cup, because he was too afraid to ask for it. Though he was confident in most of his tasks, especially girls, he just couldn’t seem to find his confidence when he first looked at you.
He has no clue how he ended up marrying you a week later. He asked himself where the hell you two could’ve gotten married. You were in Monaco and not Las Vegas. Did you just go to the registry office and asked to be married? You were drunk as hell; how would any civil servant legally marry you? Were you even legally married? You were just wearing rings, that doesn’t mean you two actually got married.
His body hit the bed as he sat down, and you felt the mattress dip down on his side. And as he took his phone form the bedside table you admired his back. His muscles flexing under his every move. Fascinated by his back you didn’t notice how he had sighed multiple times after another.
“We are legally married; I just found the certificate in my emails.” His head now turned to look at you. His eyes staring into yours. Realization hit, you were no longer single and are actually married to this man in front of you. You blinked, once, twice, a hundred times maybe, you didn’t know.
You couldn’t believe it, you were married. “Do you think we should like, get a divorce?”, your voice was shy, you didn’t want to insult him. You didn’t want him to feel like you wouldn’t be married to him. Because you would.
Would you not have married him if you weren't drunk? Because he would have. He would marry you again in heartbeat. “If you want to, we have to be married for at least 12 months until we can get a divorce. I say we at least try to live a life as a married couple?” He looked at you with hopeful eyes. And you couldn’t say no to those eyes, it would be cruel.
“12 months? How do you know that?” - “ I just googled it”, he shrugged his shoulders again. “I guess we could try, I don’t think I would mind it”, your voice once more shy, not sure if he heard what you just said. His eyes lit up; “Really? You would try?” You smiled at him and just nodded your head.
“Can I kiss you?”, he asked with hopeful eyes. You nodded again and before you even closed your eyes, his body was turned towards you and his lips on yours. His lips as soft as a cloud and the kiss so sweet like sugar. You couldn’t believe it, kissing you husband, what a weird sentence going through your brain.
“I guess I have to put your new name into my contacts”, you laugh at him as he removed his lips from yours. He smiled and said: “And what would that be?” As you typed in his new contact name he tried to sneak a glance but he didn’t succeed. Husband was now gracing the top of they're messenger chat.
He smiled as soon as he saw it. And he couldn’t stop smiling. He was smiling like a little boy who just got ice cream. His face even started hurting a bit after smiling so much. He was sure he’d have muscle ache the next day. But you were smiling too. He was making you happy and you didn’t know how or why. He just did and you were content with that. You didn’t question why your heart fluttered every time you looked at him or how he made you smile with just a short glance. Everything just felt normal and right, like it had been that way for ages.

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 [𝐉𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐒𝐎𝐍]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRINGS — James Wilson x fem!Reader
SUMMARY — James has a huge crush on his labmate, the only question is how long will it take him to ask her out? (Answer: it's longer than you think)
WARNINGS — cancer mentions, patient death from cancer, drugs, alcohol (don't be mistaken this fic is tooth-rotting fluff)
NOTE — Okay this fic has come up from my compulsory need to elaborate on anything Canadian so if you ever wanted to see James at McGill, this fic is most definitely for you! Also I guess it's indirectly mentioned that reader was raised in Quebec, but obviously doesn't have to be "Quebecois" for this to work
Pronounciation — Jian = Chyehn
Tumblr media
James chewed on the inside of his cheek as he walked up to the Stewart Biological Sciences Building on McGill campus. For some reason, it was so much more intimidating now that he was actually a student. During the tour he had his mother’s reassuring hand on his back, his father’s words of comfort that he would most definitely be accepted when he applied.
Now that he had made it, he had to prove he belonged, but it could have been worse. His friends at Harvard and the University of Toronto had told him so. He was getting the best of both worlds, a prestigious school and, hopefully, not as much pressure as the rest of them.
Without loitering any longer, he made his way inside and looked around to find the right lecture hall. It couldn’t possibly be that hard, could it?
After his first semester James had realized he’d made a few mistakes. One was living in a French speaking part of town without knowing a lick of the language, but that one was the easiest to deal with. The others were more in the realm of the amount of sleep he was getting and underestimating how much content the professors could shove down their throats in 14 weeks.
He was more than happy to return to New Jersey for the holiday break to rest and recuperate before going back to the winter wonderland hell that was Montreal, but this time he was confident he would be more prepared.
And for the most part, he was. He got enough sleep, partied responsibly (except Fridays, he partied hard then), always submitted his work on time and maintained his good GPA, making up for his poor fall semester. What he didn’t expect, however, was a distraction.
When you walked into the room James watched you curiously, he thought maybe he’d seen you somewhere before, but he couldn’t quite place it. Besides, you were much more interesting than watching his sample boil for another five minutes.
You came and took a seat next to him, taking out your safety goggles and lab notebook from your bag before shoving it under the table.
“You’re sample’s boiling over,” you said, but James didn’t register you were talking to him at first, still looking at you in a slightly dazed manner before you physically pointed to the beaker, making his eyes go wide as he frantically turned down the heat and removed it.
“It’s a wonder you passed the lab safely quiz,” you teased and James blushed.
“Good thing I don’t want to be a chemist.”
“Oh, and what do you want to be then?” you asked, preparing your own sample for boiling.
“A doctor,” he shared with a little more confidence.
“Any specialty in mind or just a doctor,” you said, doing air quotes over the word.
“I’ve been shadowing some of the researchers in the Life Sciences Research Complex and I think oncology might be a good fit for me.”
“Yeah, as long as you don’t have to boil cancer cells you should be fine,” you assured him.
“What about you?” he rolled on the balls of his feet as he continued his experiment. “Or are you all talk?”
“Pfft, you think I’d be here if I was all talk?” you asked. “No, I want to be a medical researcher.”
“Maybe you should do some shadowing in the LSRC then.”
“No thanks, I think I’ll stick to my job there.”
“Your job?” James looked at your wish surprise. “Aren’t you like 18?”
“Almost,” you smiled.
“How did you manage to get a job there? They barely let undergraduates in the labs, let alone be responsible for anything.”
“It’s nothing fancy,” you assured him. “I just do cataloguing for now, but it's a good experience.”
“Still,” he raised his brows, “you must be like a prodigy or something.”
“Again, no,” you shook your head. “Just someone who goes after what she wants.”
There was a comfortable pause where you both took down your distillation set ups and began working on the filtration portion of the experiment.
“So what’s your name, anyways?” you asked, looking over at him. “Hey, look, clamp it this way,” you demonstrated and he followed your lead, seeing how much more stable the glassware was afterwards.
“Thanks,” he smiled. “I’m James.”
You told him your name and continued your work again in silence.
Chemistry labs quickly became the favourite part of James’ week.
Ever since that lab, James began to see you in all his classes. On more than a few occasions, he’d had to steal notes from his friends on account of forgetting to pay attention. It became an easy thing to tease him about, so his friends began calling him heart-eyes, because who was he kidding, he had a crush.
“Get your head out of your ass, heart-eyes, I am not giving you my notes again,” his friend, Carlo, shoved his arm and whispered harshly as he could see him getting distracted.
“Sorry,” James shook his head and began scribbling down what he had missed, his eyes darting back and forth from the board and back to you.
“Why don’t you just ask her out?” Pierre asked him after class. “Don’t you talk all the time in the lab?”
“More like I stare at her and she says stuff to make it not awkward,” he cringed at his own actions. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Every time I’m with her I can’t string together a sentence, and– Jesus Christ you should have seen my face last week! Full on red, like I can’t even be subtle about it!”
“Yikes,” Jian grimaced.
“It’s bad, I know,” James assured.
“And this is why we call you heart-eyes,” Carlo patted James on the back.
“Yeah, say it a little louder, maybe she’ll hear you,” James said sarcastically.
“Who’ll hear you?” the group of boys heard a voice behind them and all their eyes went wide as they spun around and saw you.
“No one!” Jian was quick to answer in the least nonchalant way possible, making the rest of the group, especially James, stare daggers at him.
“It’s not no one,” Carlo attempted to save face. “Just… this girl back in uh New Jersey that James’ got the hots for,” he gained confidence with every word of the sentence before adorning a smug smile on his face and patting James yet again on the back.
“You’re afraid a girl in New Jersey will hear you?” you looked curiously at James but he just stared blankly at you. “So you call him heart-eyes?” you instead turned your attention to his friends and they nodded. “That’s cute, maybe I’ll call you that too.”
“Sure,” was all a red faced James could get out before you excused yourself to head over to work.
Pierre was trying very hard to keep a straight face while you walked away and James slapped both Carlo and Jian upside the head.
“What the hell was that! Could you not have been more obvious, Jian? And Carlo, a girl back in New Jersey? Now she thinks I’m pining for someone else!”
“On the plus side, maybe she’ll think all your blushing around her is a circulation issue,” Pierre shrugged.
“You guys are the worst,” James shook his head and shoved his hands in his pockets, continuing to walk along the path to one of the libraries.
“No, we just saved your ass,” Carlo caught up with him. “However terribly, but if we didn’t say anything you would have stared at her with your mouth open like a trout.”
“Carlo does have a point,” Jian agreed, “At least we bought you a little time to get your act together.”
James sighed, “You guys have too much faith in me.”
“You said that when I started to teach you French and you’ve come a long way with that,” Pierre said.
“Yeah, sure I went from saying nothing to being able to say Je m'appelle James et je ne parle pas français.”
“And what a handy sentence that is when you don’t speak French!” Pierre grinned and James couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head.
“Okay, I’ll try and get my act together and ask her out…and learn more French.”
“That’s the spirit!” Carlo patted his back. “Now let’s go get a drink and relax.”
“Maybe after we study for our physics midterm?” James nudged his friend and Jian nodded his head in agreement.
“Fine, I guess if we have to,” Carlo sighed.
“Not everyone is naturally good at kinematics, Carlo. Take pity on us mere mortals who have to study,” Pierre responded, eliciting a chuckle from his buddies.
James was quiet as he thought to himself. If he could get a B on this physics test, maybe there was hope for him getting his act together after all.
Summer break rolled around faster than James had expected. While Jian went back to Richmond, Pierre over to Quebec City, and Carlo to Chicago, James was left alone in Montreal, working to help pay his tuition for the next year. Being an international student was no joke.
He would have gone back to New Jersey, but the positions he applied to in Montreal paid more so it wasn’t a hard decision to make.
His parents would come visit him for some time in July, but for the most part he was alone.
On late nights, he’d make his way to the McDonald’s in the neighbourhood, not knowing enough French to go anywhere else nearby. At least there, most of them spoke enough English to take his order, and if not it was really easy to point to the menu.
“It’s already done?” he asked.
“Give us some credit, hein. We knew you were coming, we had it ready.”
James chuckled and handed him the money for the order, exchanging it for the bag which he took to a table and sat down.
As he was pulling out his fries from his bag he heard the chime of the door and looked up curiously to see who was coming at this time of night.
He stopped what he was doing when he recognized you, watching as you dug through your purse and spoke to the cashier in French. You both laughed about something James couldn’t quite catch and a little while later, after you had paid they handed you a bag and an ice cream cone when James heard you say something about ‘deux cuillères’ taking the utensils they gave you and turing straight towards James’ table, pulling out the chair across from him and sitting down.
“I thought you lived in New Jersey,” you said.
James was still stunned that you had noticed him and couldn’t find the words to speak.
“Hey, heart-eyes?” you waved your hand in front of his face. “You okay?”
“Y-Yeah,” he nodded, distracting himself by pulling out his burger from his bag.
“So why aren’t you in Jersey?” you asked.
“Work. I got a job here, it paid better.”
“Hmm,” you hummed thoughtfully while eating some of your fries. “And all your friends?”
“Back with their families, unfortunately for me,” he nodded. “W-What about you?”
“Oh, I live here,” you shrugged. “In this neighbourhood actually.”
“You live here?” he asked.
“That’s what I said,” you nodded.
“And so that’s how you know French?”
“Every kid in Quebec learns French, it’s kind of a non-negotiable,” you shared. “I gather that’s why you’re eating here.”
“Yeah, Pierre didn’t manage to teach me enough before he left,” he sighed and started to eat his meal.
“I could teach you if you want. I’m taking a little break this summer so I have some spare time,” you offered.
“Oh, I don’t want to-,”
“James, you’re gonna have a shitty summer if you don’t say yes.”
He couldn’t argue with that, it would be nice to communicate more with the people who lived around him.
“Okay, sure, but I’m warning you, I’m a terrible student.”
“I used to tutor one of my siblings, trust me it can’t be worse than that,” you laughed.
You chatted a little more, finishing your meals but not before you handed James a spoon.
“So this is cuillère then?” he asked. “I-I overheard you talking to Jean.”
“Yeah, your pronunciation isn’t bad either,” you nodded. “Here.”
You pushed the ice cream cone between you and began to eat it with the spoon. James had a bit of a sweet tooth and wouldn’t be one to refuse dessert so he began to share the ice cream cone with you.
“So, are you missing your girl in New Jersey?” you asked and James cursed internally, trying to come up with a lie to tell you.
“Um, no not really,” he shook his head. “I don’t think we would have worked out anyways.”
“Oh, so are your friends still calling you heart-eyes?”
He nodded his head, thinking it was better not to say anything in case he gave himself away.
“It’s good that you recognized you wouldn’t work out before you asked her out,” you said, “Couple guys wanted to go on dates with me this year, but just didn’t seem like the right fit. Plus, I don’t really think I’m looking for anything like that right now.”
James nodded his head again, silently eating the ice cream.
“Ever been in love, James?” you asked.
“That’s a really loaded question to ask someone you cornered in a McDonald’s at 11 P.M.”
You ignored his response and continued,
“I haven’t, it seems like such a big thing, how would you even know if it was love?”
James looked up at the ceiling, silently asking God to not let him say something stupid,
“I think most of the time it comes on gradually, maybe you won’t even know it at first.”
“So you have been in love,” you confirmed and he shrugged his shoulders.
“I…I don’t know. Maybe I have.”
“That’s not a very straightforward answer.”
“Then maybe I haven’t. I feel like if it was love, you’d figure it out, eventually.”
You pursed your lips and nodded your head.
“I hope I get to fall in love,” you smiled softly to yourself. “Seems nice.”
“Yeah,” James agreed. “It does.”
A few years later…
“So how did it go?” Jian asked, as they sat around James’ small living room.
“It…could have been better,” James sucked in some air through his teeth, recalling a recent memory from earlier that afternoon.
“What the fuck James! You scared the shit out of me! I could have broken the hemocytometer, do you know how much that shit costs?!”
“Sorry!” James quickly apologized and dropped his books down on the nearest surface to help you clean up, making you look up again at him with disdain.
“In the BSC? Really? Now we have to resterilize and all the specimens I have in there are as good as compromised.”
“Shit,” James muttered under his breath, he was usually so much better in the lab, but the second he was with you he became a bumbling mess. “I-I’ll take care of the BSC, I’m so sorry.”
You sighed and removed your gloves, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“It’s not just boiling water we’re dealing with anymore, James,” you said a little more calmly than before. “You’ve gotta be more careful, okay? I’m not losing my job over this.”
James nodded his head and went to grab the things to sterilize the biological safety cabinet and grab the new specimen from the fridge. So much for trying to get a job at LSRC to impress you.
“I was not built to be a researcher,” James shook his head.
“I mean, it’s not that big of a screw up, you fixed it eventually, didn’t you?” Pierre asked.
“Yeah, but not until after a thorough amount of embarrassment.”
“I thought girls found clumsy guys endearing,” Carlo commented.
“Not when the girl is determined to become the leading medical researcher on the continent,” James sighed. “Maybe taking this job was a bad idea. From what I can see she hasn’t even changed her opinion on dating, she hasn’t been with anyone these past three years.”
“Do you hear that?” Carlo removed his feet from the coffee table and placed them on the ground. “You’ve been in love with her for three years and haven’t done anything about it.”
“Who said I was in love with her? And sure, maybe I haven’t made a move, but I learnt French!” James tried to defend himself, pointing to Pierre.
“That’s not as good of a comeback as you think it is,” Pierre shook his head.
“I know,” James hung his head low and sat on the couch between Pierre and Jian. “We’re gonna graduate in a year and she’s not gonna know I’m in love with her.”
“So you are in love with her?” Jian looked over at his friend sympathetically.
James leaned back and used the heels of his palms to cover his eyes.
“He’s gonna have a meltdown, don’t ask him that,” Pierre shook his head.
“God, I do love her!” he exclaimed like he was just finding it out for the first time himself.
“What did I say,” Pierre sighed.
“Can I make it stop?” James looked over at his friends who all shrugged. “I am so screwed.”
“This time, I think we agree with you,” Carlo took a sip of his drink. “Good luck, man.”
James squeezed his eyes shut, he would definitely need it.
The year passed to graduation and James was still sitting on his feelings. It was much too late now to say anything. You’d already been accepted to a graduate program through your work with the LSRC and James had passed his MCAT with flying colours and was on his way to medical school at Columbia.
As much as he didn’t want to admit it, he was going to miss Montreal, the city had grown on him during his time there and a part of him wished he could stay.
His friends were also ready for the next stages in their studies, all going to different places across the continent to get their other degrees, with, of course, the promise to stay in touch.
James didn’t know what the next little bit of his life had in store for him, but he hoped regardless of where he ended up, maybe he’d be able to make up for his missed opportunities.
The years of medical school, once started, passed faster than James expected them to, and by the end of it, much to his own surprise, he’d also gotten married.
You were almost all but forgotten in the back of his mind, but time continued to play its games.
Medical school turned into a specialization in oncology, and a divorce. Then residency and a marriage. Then a second divorce. Then another marriage and more recently a position at a hospital in his hometown, on the board and a well respected oncologist and a few new friends…and a third divorce.
“House, I’m not asking you to let them all sleep in your apartment, it’s just a dinner for one night, we’ll be out and about for the rest of the time that they’re here,” James sighed.
“Can’t you just cancel?” House asked. “Divorce seems like a pretty good reason to get out of a reunion.”
“See, the thing is, I’d rather not be miserable and see my friends instead, and they bought their tickets months ago. Please, House, I’ll do the dishes for a week.”
“A month,” House said.
“Two weeks,” James negotiated and House nodded, so they shook on it.
“Good, now that I’ve done you a favour, you can do me one,” House smiled, but the kind of smile that was conniving, like he had something up his sleeve all along.
“I paid you in chores for my favour, who says I owe you anything?”
“Unless you want me to call your friends and cancel for you, you’ll do it,” House continued to walk the hospital’s hallways hobbling with his cane.
“What is it?” James sighed, catching up with him.
“We have a patient and he doesn’t speak very good English, but he does speak French. You went to McGill didn’t you? Must have picked up some of the love language.”
“Unfortunately for me in this case, I did,” he nodded.
“Perfect, come with me now,” House motioned with his head to the patient’s room and James trailed behind him.
When he entered the room, House motioned for him to begin speaking. James hadn’t spoken a lot of French since his undergrad so he was definitely rusty, but he supposed it was better than nothing and began to explain that he would be helping with the translation.
“Erm, Bonjour, je suis Dr. Wilson, je vais aider Dr. House avec la traduction.”
The man looked at James strangely before saying.
“You’re an anglophone, but you speak French like you’re Quebecois.”
“I um did my undergraduate in Montreal, I learnt how to speak there,” James responded back in French.
“Hmm.”
James could tell this wasn’t going to be fun. Some of the French held quite a bit of hate towards Quebec, who knew why, but his accent definitely wasn’t going to help him in this situation.
House got James to ask some routine medical history questions and a few things about his symptoms all the while James had to filter out all the insults that were coming his way with regards to his “poor use of language” and “unintelligible accent”.
When he could finally leave the room, James let out a string of French curses under his breath, still thinking in the other language.
“House, why can’t you just get a proper translator?” he asked. “I’m terrible at this.”
“Cuddy said something about making a big purchase recently and being currently unable to do so, especially since you put that you speak French in your resume. Bet you’re regretting that one now.”
“Yeah,” James nodded his head. “Big time.”
They began to walk towards the elevator to go to the cafeteria for lunch, when James decided to inquire more about Cuddy’s big purchase.
“Oh, she said something about money this, medical research that,” House shook his head, “You know I stopped listening the second she wouldn’t give me what I wanted.”
“She hired a medical researcher,” James said aloud, chewing on the words, “I wonder who she-,”
His train of thought was cut off when he saw, near the elevator, a face he hadn’t seen since graduation day at McGill.
Quickly, unable to think of anything else to do, he ran into the administrative area and hid crouched down behind a photocopier.
House watched his friend curiously before walking over towards him and leaning against the copier asked him if he’d gone insane.
“No, I just, um, remembered I needed to copy some patient files,” he lied.
“You don’t have any with you,” House said.
“I faxed them from my office,” he lied again.
“I think I need to go get Foreman, clearly you’re having a neurological breakdown,” House said.
“Can you just stop making it obvious I’m here?!” James exclaimed in a whisper.
Unfortunately for him, as you were walking past, his harsh whisper made his location obvious, causing you to look down and see his familiar face.
“Oh my God, heart-eyes, is that you?” you asked with a smile and James pressed his lips in a thin line and nodded. “What are you doing down there?”
James became speechless and suddenly he was an eighteen-year-old back in his chemistry lab.
“He’s checking to see if we need more toner,” House said, lying for his friend, but James knew that was all he would get out of him. “Well, that’s my cue to leave, you guys have fun.”
You reached down and offered James a hand, helping him back into a standing position.
“I haven’t seen you in so long,” you commented. “Like since we were-,”
“22,” James filled in and you nodded.
“Yeah,” you bit your lip before asking him how he had been.
“Oh, you know,” he shrugged his shoulders. “I-I’m assuming you’re the medical researcher Cuddy hired?”
“That would be correct,” you smiled.
“Why did you choose to work here? I thought you were some big hotshot in Canada?”
“I am a big hotshot, which is why I wanted to come to a teaching hospital. I thought maybe it would give more opportunities to teach other people what I know. It’s a win-win. I get to do what I want to and the hospital gets grant money from my research,” you explained. “It looks like you got where you wanted to be too, Mr. Oncologist.”
“Actually it’s Dr. Oncologist,” he joked and you laughed, making his cheeks go red after hearing the sound.
“I missed having you around, James. We should catch up sometime,” you suggested.
“Yeah sure,” he nodded. “I-I’d love that.”
You excused yourself, needing to go introduce yourself to a class of medical students, waving goodbye to James, leaving him stuck in his tracks for a few moments before he could gather his senses again and head downstairs for lunch.
“We could have rescheduled if this was too much, man,” Carlo watched James as he brought a large roast to the table for them to eat.
“See? What did I tell you,” House rolled his eyes and James gave him a disapproving stare.
“No, I wanted you guys to come, we’ve been planning this for months. I wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of it,” he assured his friends. “Plus, we know how hard it is to nail down Pierre, I swear you are always travelling. Every time we talk you’re in a different country.”
“That’s the life of a parasitologist,” he shrugged and helped James by beginning to cut the roast.
“And Jian, how’s the wife and kids?”
“They’re good,” Jian smiled. “Mei started first grade in September. Becky and I are both up for promotions at the hospital, so I can’t really complain. Although I think Carlo can.”
“Seriously it’s not that big of a deal,” Carlo groaned, “Sure yeah, pharmaceuticals are more flashy than biophysics, but that doesn’t mean that my research wasn’t better.”
“Well if it was better why did William get the award?” James asked and Carlo just flipped him the bird.
“Didn’t we go to school with him?” Pierre asked.
“We did?” James raised a brow.
“Yeah, for a year, from Toronto, huge stoner. Hated being there and did literally no work, but still managed to get honours,” Jian explained.
“Sounds like my kinda guy,” House commented and James rolled his eyes.
Just as they continued to dish out dinner, House’s pager went off and he sighed, excusing himself from the table while practically threatening James to leave him some food.
When House left, James’ friends saw their opening and began their personal line of questioning.
“Hey, James, are you really okay?” Jian asked.
“Why wouldn’t I be okay?” James asked in return.
“You’re getting a divorce,” Pierre said. “Seems like a pretty good reason to not be okay.”
James shook his head,
“Yeah sure, it’s a shitty situation,” he admitted. “Did I imagine myself at this point in my life with three failed marriages? No, definitely not. Can I do anything to change it? Also no, and right now I really wouldn’t want to change it.”
“Can we ask what happened?” Carlo queried.
“She cheated on me, then left me,” James said simply.
“Forgive me,” Pierre said. “But you seemed a lot more upset when we talked over the phone last week. What changed?”
James looked down at his plate and cut into his roast, thinking about what Pierre had said. It was true, even earlier today he was sulking about, that was until he ran into you.
“I swear,” James started, “if you guys make a big deal about this I will murder you all,” he used his knife to point at all of them and they nodded, swearing their silence. “I’ve got heart-eyes again.”
“You met someone new?” Jian asked and Carlo shook his head.
“No, he re-met someone old. Tell me, did your hospital recently hire a medical researcher?”
James nodded his head and the table was about to erupt into a loud chorus of comments when James gave them a look and they all restrained themselves.
“James, I’m being dead serious when I say this, but you should have married her,” Pierre insisted. “I never saw you look at anyone else the way you looked at her.”
“Probably explains the three divorces then, doesn’t it? I was still in love with her the whole time,” James sighed. “It’s going to come up eventually, seems like a pretty big indicator that I’m not good at relationships.”
“Who knows, maybe she won’t care,” Jian offered.
“What was it like when you saw her again?” Carlo asked, looking for any opportunity to tease his friend.
“How do you think it was? I could barely talk, I was a nervous wreck, and blushing like crazy,” he shook his head at the thought of it. “I could literally feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. I feel like a middle school girl every time I’m near her.”
“Who knows, maybe she still thinks you have circulation issues,” Jian shrugged and the table laughed.
“What I would give to stay here and watch this play out,” Carlo sighed and leaned back in his seat.
“Knowing James, you’d have to be here for ten years before he made a move on her,” Pierre raised a brow and James threw a piece of potato at him.
“If you ever do get the guts to ask her out, call us. We’ve made bets on this,” Carlo added.
“Real comforting, guys,” James ate a bite of the roast. “I thought this was supposed to be my pity party.”
“Not anymore,” Jian shook his head. “You’ve got heart-eyes.”
This time around, James thought maybe he didn’t mind the nickname as much as he used to.
“I would think they’d get you your own office at this point,” James commented as he entered his office, seeing you sitting at his desk, eating a pre-packed lunch.
“Beats me,” you shrugged and continued to eat.
“So you’ve decided that invading my office is your next best bet?”
“Oh hush,” you waved him off with your fork.
“Well, excuse me for wanting to come to a safe place after being verbally assaulted by House’s patient,” he sat on the opposite side of the desk and leaned back in the chair.
“Verbally assaulted?” you asked. “By a patient who isn’t even your own?”
“He doesn’t like the way I speak French,” James rolled his eyes. “I’m translating while they’re treating him since the department used all its money hiring you.”
“What can I say, hotshots cost a lot of money.”
“You know, you could do the translation, probably much better than I can,” he noted.
“I could, but you probably need the practice more than I do, chèri,” you scrunched your nose in a cute mocking way and James could feel the blood rushing to his cheeks yet again. “You still keeping up with that posse of yours?” you asked, changing the subject.
“Yeah, they all flew in to visit a few days ago, we’re gonna go out tonight,” he said. “Do you…maybe want to join us?” he suggested.
“I don’t have plans, as long as they’re okay with it I’d love to come,” you smiled.
“Oh trust me, they will definitely be okay with it.”
Later that night, James was drinking deeply from his glass while he watched his friends stare blankly ahead at you. If he looked anything like they did all those times his words were caught in his throat, then he hoped to spontaneously combust right then and there.
“Heart-eyes, I thought you said they were okay with me coming?” you leaned over and whispered to him.
James put down his glass and nodded his head.
“They are okay with it, right?”
Snapping out of their daze, the three men nodded their heads and finally began professing assurances that everything was fine.
“It’s just… you said James invited you?” Jian asked with furrowed bows.
“Yeah,” you nodded. “He mentioned you guys were in town and getting together tonight and asked me if I wanted to join.”
James bit down on his tongue trying not to say anything, but also gave his friends a look to shut up before they gave anything away. He knew what was running through their minds, they were wondering how the hell he’d gotten the guts to ask you to come, but there was one fundamental difference between tonight and any other time he could have possibly asked you. This wasn’t a date, therefore, there was no pressure.
“Maybe you could tell them what you’ve been up to since they last saw you?” James suggested.
“Oh, um, well, I got my master’s degree and doctorate at McGill, both for research in cancer biology-,”
“Cancer biology?” Pierre interrupted. “I don’t remember you mentioning you were interested in that.”
“I-I wasn’t initially,” you admitted. “Just after spending more time in the LSRC and a few other irrelevant things I decided it was the best fit for me to focus on.”
“You and heart-eyes make a pretty good pair then,” Carlo raised his eyebrows suggestively and took a sip of his drink.
“I guess we do,” you chuckled. “As long as he leaves the research to me. We all know what he’s like in the lab.”
“I resent that,” James protested only before saying, “but I do deserve it.”
“It’s a miracle he hasn’t had a medical malpractice suit,” Pierre added.
You asked the boys about where their various careers had taken them and how they were each doing. The conversation stayed pretty normal until the topic changed to relationships, starting with Jian’s wife and family back in Vancouver and Pierre’s husband who was currently in Australia doing research on some massive insect.
“What about you Carlo?” you asked. “Anyone special in your life?”
“Nah,” he waved his hand.
“What about the mom of the kid who pet sits for you?” Jian asked.
“That kid charges me per animal, per size. If I were to date his mom he’d probably charge me for dating her too, and I don’t think I can afford his price,” he shook his head and the table laughed.
“James, you’ve been quiet,” you said. “Nothing to share?”
James nervously took a sip of his drink and looked over at his friends for help.
“James hasn’t had the best luck in love,” Pierre settled on.
“Oh, haven’t found anybody, that’s not a big deal,” you assured him. “I haven’t either.”
“Well,” Carlo said in a high-pitched voice. “It’s not exactly that he hasn’t found anybody.”
“So there’s someone-?”
“I’m divorced,” James blurted. “Three times. Or soon to be three anyway.”
“Oh,” you paused and tried to think of the right thing to say, but for the moment settled on nothing while Pierre changed the subject.
After the visit was over, James offered to walk you to your car and you accepted. The walk started off in silence, but you decided to break it.
“You know, I hope you find the right person eventually,” you said. “It’s unfortunate things didn’t work out three times.”
“Yeah,” James nodded in agreement. “I-um, do you ever think about that conversation we had, in the McDonald’s by my apartment?”
“Sometimes I do,” you admitted.
“Looking back on that, I wonder if we ever really loved each other. If we did this probably wouldn’t have happened. We would have fixed things, worked on ourselves instead of just…giving up.”
“So I guess you still haven’t fallen in love yet?” you asked, but he stayed silent. “Whoever it is, I’m sure things will find a way to work out for you.”
“The moment may have passed on that,” he said with his hands shoved in his pockets and looking down at the ground.
“You never know, James. Sometimes life has a funny way of surprising you.”
James watched as his colleagues and a few of the students from the university left the lecture hall while he continued to sit in his seat, watching you walk up towards him.
“Don’t you have patients or something?” you asked. “You’re at all of my lectures.”
“Doesn’t it seem appropriate for an oncologist to attend a cancer biology lecture?” he asked as you sat down next to him.
“I suppose so,” you sighed. “Doesn’t explain why you weren’t taking notes though.”
James looked down at his empty hands and cursed a little internally.
“It’s okay,” you assured him. “I don’t mind the staring, it reminds me of school.”
“You noticed?” he asked.
“You weren’t very subtle,” you chuckled.
“Yeah, not one of my strong suits,” he blushed, embarrassed.
“Do you wanna go grab lunch before your break is over?” you asked and James nodded, standing up and offering you a hand to get out of your seat.
You went to the cafeteria, running into his friend House who managed to get his food paid for by James, yet again, before leaving to go back up to his office and work on another differential diagnosis with his employees.
“Did all the guys get back home safe after their trip?” you asked, digging into your food.
“Carlo and Jian are back home, Pierre went to go be with Ollie in Australia.”
“It must be hard not living near them.”
James sighed and nodded his head. “It’s a balance. When they’re being annoying, it’s great that they don’t live here and when they’re not, it sucks.”
“Spoken like a true friend,” you chuckled.
“What about you? Do you still keep in touch with people from school? During any of your degrees?”
“Not really,” you shook your head. “After my undergrad I became so laser focused on my school I didn’t pay attention to relationships that much outside of my family. Starting to regret it a bit now.”
“Kind of hard to have a good conversation with cancer cells,” James said sarcastically and you shook your head. “Do you like it in New Jersey so far?”
“Not as much as back home,” you admitted, “but it is nice to have a friend here.”
“Yeah, Jersey is…an acquired taste,” he settled on, making you laugh, but your laughter was cut off by the sound of his pager, and he looked down to see what the message was before quickly standing up. “Sorry, I have to-,”
“Don’t worry,” you assured him. “I’ll pack up your food and bring it to your office.”
“Thanks,” he nodded and you waved goodbye as he ran off out of the cafeteria and to the oncology floor to go help one of his patients.
James didn’t find himself walking around the campus often, but when he did it was usually because he had to clear his head. With everything that was going on in his life, in addition to the circumstances of this case, he was taking it harder than normal.
He had left his coat in his office as the hot New Jersey sun was already beating down, his hands shoved in his pockets and his eyes following his feet as he took his steps forward.
He didn’t notice you sitting on a bench as he was passing by. Curious as to his state, you stood up and went to meet up with him.
“Hey James, are you okay?”
Your voice pulled him out of his thoughts almost instantly. He stopped to look up at you, seeing the concern reflecting in your eyes.
He took his hands out of his pockets and motioned for you to walk with him.
“I lost a patient today,” he explained. “He was 11.”
“Oh, James, I’m so sorry,” you said softly.
“In med school you learn pretty quickly if you don’t find a way to deal with what you face every day the result is never good,” he said and you noticed him chewing on the inside of his cheek, “but it was just too sunny outside. How could it be sunny on a day like this?”
You didn’t say anything initially, only intertwining your hand with his and giving it a light squeeze which he returned.
“You know, I think it’s probably okay, every once in a while, to let yourself mourn your patients. Just like everyone else. You have a uniquely difficult job, James, and no one would hold it against you if you need a minute to adjust.”
James stopped walking and you followed his lead, only to have him let go of your hand and pull you into a tight hug. You easily wrapped your arms around his neck while his arms were around your waist.
“You’re a good doctor, James,” you mumbled. “I know, even if you don’t quite believe it right now, you did everything you could to help that young boy and make him more comfortable.”
You could feel him nod his head, clearly not trusting himself to say anything at the moment.
Neither of you wanted to let go, but you knew that you both had work to get back to. James had other patients he was responsible for and you had some work to do in one of the hospital labs.
So silently, hand in hand, you accompanied each other back to the hospital, grateful for each other’s company.
“I swear, if I stay there any longer I’m going to go mad,” James whispered to you under his breath as you walked along the halls of the hospital with him to help him run some tests for a few patients.
“What was it this time?” you asked, huddling in closer, waiting for him to spill the beans on why living with his best friend was becoming unbearable.
“He keeps pranking me,” he began to explain and you could see how frustrated he was just by his hand movements. “Last night he thought of the genius idea to put my hand in warm water while I was sleeping and-,” James stopped himself, realizing he’d divulged too much, just as your eyes went wide.
“Oh my God you didn’t wet the bed did you?” you asked in a chuckle and James quickly covered your mouth saying,
“Shh! The whole hospital doesn’t need to hear you!”
You couldn’t hold in your laugh, muffled by James’ hand over your mouth and his cheeks were a bright cherry red.
Eventually you pulled his hand away and said,
“You definitely need to get out of there. That’s criminal.”
“Exactly what I’m saying,” James agreed.
“Hey, why don’t you come over to my place tonight?” you suggested. “We can watch a movie or something together.”
“That sounds like exactly what I need right now,” he nodded his head. “What time?”
“Come over at eight, it’ll give me some time to get snacks and get ready.”
“You’ve got yourself a deal,” he held out his hand and you took it shaking it firmly.
Later that evening while James was getting ready, House watched him curiously.
“I still don’t believe that you blowdry your hair,” he said loudly over the sound of the appliance.
“Believe it or not, I do,” James responded.
“It just seems so pointless, your hair is messy anyways,” he crossed his arms and James gave him a look.
“My hair looks fine, yours on the other hand could use a trim and about a billion other things,” James retorted.
“So, is this a date?” House asked, changing the topic.
“No, it’s not a date,” James shook his head. “It’s an opportunity for me to get away from your insanity.”
“Are you sure it’s not a date?” he asked.
“What makes you think it's a date?” he finally gave in and turned around to face his friend, turning off the blow dryer.
“Well if you asked her if you could come over, probably not a date, but if she offered…” he shrugged his shoulders.
James shook his head, he didn’t want to allow himself to believe it was true, because if it was, he’d probably overthink things and make a fool of himself.
“It’s not a date,” he reiterated and House stopped pressing, seeing as his friend would not be reasoned with.
James finished fixing his hair and grabbed his keys and a coat before stepping out of the door.
It didn’t take him long to drive to your house and when he knocked at the door he heard shuffling inside before the lock clicked and you opened it.
“Hey! You got the dress code memo,” you joked, pointing to his McGill sweater and then back at yours.
“I thought you might like a blast from the past,” he smiled and you invited him inside.
As he entered he noticed the array of pillows on the couch, blankets draped over arm chairs, and books piled on every surface possible. To top it off, the house was currently only lit by lamps allowing a warm orange hue to fall over the space. It made James’ shoulders relax and he could even feel his nervous heart rate slow.
“Do you like it?” you asked. “I am by no means an interior decorator, but I tried to make it feel cozy so it’s nice to come back to after long days at work.”
“I do like it,” James nodded. “A lot. It feels like a home.”
“Perfect, that’s exactly what I was going for,” you smiled. “You’re the first guest I’ve had here, you know?”
“Really? No fancy dinner parties with the hospital board?”
“No, not yet,” you chuckled. “Unfortunately, this guy in the oncology department keeps taking up all my time.”
You grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the couch.
“But don’t worry, I don’t mind.”
After he took off his coat, you both sat down next to each other, James extending his hand along the back of the couch and you naturally sat right up next to him, leaning forward to grab the remote and turn on the movie.
“What did you pick?” James asked.
“Just some random horror movie,” you said. “I heard it’s really cheesy.”
“We’ll see about that,” James raised his brows and grabbed the popcorn from the table, putting it in between you both.
You pressed play once you were both settled and tossed the remote to the side of the couch, curling your legs up and waiting in anticipation for the movie to begin.
It didn’t take long for the horror plot to begin, jumping right into the satanic murders and supernatural deaths. Just as you had predicted, it was cheesy, but that didn’t stop you from being startled whenever something popped up unexpectedly on the screen.
Both of you were lulled into a false sense of security during what seemed like a quiet part of the movie, then, all of a sudden, the killer jumped into the frame with a loud change in the soundtrack, causing you to shriek and move towards James, also feeling him jump slightly from being startled.
You both looked up at each other and laughed at the ridiculousness of your collective fright.
“You’re supposed to be the calm one,” you elbowed him.
“I know it just-Jesus!” James found himself inadvertently closing his eyes and wrapping his arm around you as if it would give him some protection from what was on the screen.
You laughed again and leaned closer into his side, patting his leg to assure him it was safe to open his eyes again.
“You must enjoy torturing me, that’s the only explanation for this,” James looked over at you and you shook your head.
“Come on, heart-eyes, you think that lowly of me?”
James couldn’t stop the smile that creeped past his lips, “No, of course not.”
“Good, that means I still have the upper hand,” you moved your head to look back at the TV, but not before James tickled you in retaliation for your words.
It took a moment, but you eventually surrendered and moved your focus back to the movie, still feeling a little warm from your laughter.
You grabbed some of the other candies and snacks from the table, holding a gummy bear up for James to try and he did without so much as a second thought.
“Still have a sweet tooth I see,” you offered him a different candy which he ate again and nodded.
“You don’t want to know how many cavities I’ve had.”
“Here,” you handed him a wrapped treat. “This one’s special from home.”
“Maple candies,” he smiled. “They don’t make ‘em like they do in Montreal.”
“They were your favourite, right?” you asked.
James looked over at you again curiously, “You remembered that?”
“Of course I did,” you shrugged. “Oh wait, look,” you pointed to the TV before grimacing and covering your eyes, but still peeking through your fingers. “Ew!”
James just smiled at you, finding it harder and harder to resist the urge to kiss you, the thought bringing a warm sensation to his stomach.
He settled instead on doing what he’d been doing forever: staring at you with heart-eyes.
James tried to fight a yawn as he grabbed one of the many books on the shelves in his office, taking it to his couch and sitting down next to you.
“You don’t have to do this, James,” you told him. “You probably have to be back tomorrow morning, you should go home and rest.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” he insisted. “You look in here for that article I was telling you about and I’ll start proofreading.”
There were many papers and files strewn around the couch, you couldn’t remember when you first came in, but James never seemed to mind when you worked in his office instead of your own.
“Are you sure?” you asked. “I feel like I brought a tornado in here.”
James looked up from your paper and nodded his head.
“Now hush and let me read.”
“Sorry, sorry,” you chuckled, opening the medical journal he had handed you, flipping through the contents until you found the article title he had mentioned.
James had a pen in his hand, scribbling down annotations on the side, correcting a few typos and grammatical errors.
For the most part, he was able to follow along, but at one point, the words became so incoherent he tapped you to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.
“What does this say here?” he asked. “I-I don’t know if my eyes just stopped working, but what does stirring in sugar and eggs have to do with this trial treatment?”
“Oh my God,” you grabbed the paper and looked at it closer. “I must have accidentally copied some of my mom’s cookie recipe on here before changing documents. What in the world is going on with me?”
Maybe it was the exhaustion settling in or some other things James couldn’t quite pinpoint, but he felt himself letting out a chuckle that grew a little longer, and longer until it was a full blown laugh.
It was an honest mistake, and arguably not that funny, but you’d be hard pressed to convince him of that in that moment, and instead, seeing the silliness of the situation, you joined in.
Eventually, when the laughter died down, you and James both leaning far back against the couch, he turned to you and apologized.
“I’m sorry, I should probably read this when I have a bit more sanity.”
“Don’t be,” you patted his leg. “I can always use a good laugh.”
With your heads still turned to face each other, you suggested to pause the work and resume it another time, to which James agreed.
You both continued to sit there in silence, looking over at each other and James caught a glimmer of something in your eyes and had to blink a few times to make sure it was still there. It was a soft look, a little dazed, like you were happily daydreaming about something far off. It took him a moment to realize it, since he had been the one giving that look, he’d never really had a chance to see it for himself.
You had heart-eyes.
And more importantly, you had them while you were looking at James.
With a sudden boost of courage, fuelled by lowered inhibitions, he started by asking,
“Have I ever told you why my friends call me heart-eyes?”
You tilted your head a little, following his lead and sitting up straight.
“Wasn’t it because of that girl you had a crush on that was from here?”
James opened his mouth and then shut it, shaking his head.
“There was never a girl from Jersey,” he admitted.
“Why would they say it was a girl from Jersey if there was…” as you said the sentence you slowed down, the realization dawning on you.
“All the staring makes a bit more sense now?” he asked.
You blinked a few times, “I just thought you were really awkward,” you said.
“I was, but if the staring didn’t give it away the blushing really should have done it,” he chuckled.
“I thought you had a circulation issue!” you exclaimed and James burst out laughing, of course you did. “God, James, why didn’t you say anything?”
James shook his head, “I could barely string out a coherent sentence when I was around you. Makes it a little hard to say anything.”
“Makes me wish I had said something,” you said, feeling your own cheeks heat up at the admission.
“Y-You would’ve said something?”
Now it was James’ turn to be surprised.
“I think most of the time it comes on gradually, maybe you won’t even know it at first. That’s what you said to me, but that eventually, if it was love, I’d know it.”
You reached out and held James’ hands in your own.
“I should have said something. I could have said something. We could have had so much more-,”
“James,” you whispered, interrupting him and he stopped. “Shut up and kiss me.”
James wasn’t going to waste another second, removing his hands from your to instead gently hold your face, bringing you closer to him so he could finally do what he had been dreaming about since he was 18 years old.
The dim light of his desk lamp, the papers crumpled beneath and around you, the way you moved closer and slid into his lap, his hands now on your hips and your fingers snaking through his hair, it all melted into one and if you let yourselves imagine, just a bit, the lamp became a light in the library; the papers became unfinished homework assignments and lab write-ups, and you hadn’t missed a second of the time you could have spent together.
Your kisses soon turned slow and repetitive and neither of you wanted to pull away, living in the moment like it was your last.
“When…did you realize…you loved me?” you asked between kisses, moving away from his mouth, instead letting your lips find their way across his jaw and up to his temple.
“Our last year of school,” he paused your kisses so he could kiss you properly again. “Carlo said something and-,” he shook his head and sighed. “I realized I was going to leave without you ever knowing how I felt and even though eventually I thought maybe I’d stopped loving you and started to love other people…I just kept trying to fill that space that only you fit in.”
“First year of my master’s for me,” you rested your forehead against his. “Suddenly you weren’t there anymore and I really wished that wasn’t the case.”
He tilted his head up to meet you in another kiss that was far too easy to melt into. Neither of you had any complaints and you knew you’d never get tired looking into his heart-eyes.

Prompt: If someone had told you an hour ago that Vil and Rook would attempt breaking into Ramshackle, drunk out of their minds, you would have laughed and waved off their words. Well, that was what you would have thought an hour ago.
Pairing: Rook x Gn!Yuu/Prefect/Reader x Vil
Genre: Fluff
TW: Underage drinking, mentions of being very drunk, Rook and Vil are most definitely ooc (cause they're drunk)
Tumblr media
A.N: For the record, I am not trying to encourage underage drinking. That is not my intention. I just had a funny story told to me by my aunt that inspired this. Again, not trying to encourage underage drinking or heavy drinking (drink responsibly and only after you come of age please).
Tumblr media
If someone had told you an hour ago that Vil and Rook would attempt breaking into Ramshackle, drunk out of their minds, you would have laughed and waved off their words.
After all, Rook would never willingly compromise himself by drinking to the point where he couldn't walk without stumbling. He was a hunter; his sharp senses were his pride, and alcohol muddles the senses, rendering them dull. The idea of such loss of control over his actions may be a bit tempting, but you knew he wouldn't be as irresponsible as to have alcohol on a school night.
The same could be said for Vil. He was comfortable with showing you and Rook more of his natural and less put-together side, but he would not exactly let himself be drunk to the point where he slurred his words, each syllable melting into the next as he attempted to communicate with you. Not just to keep his dignified and elegant image, but also because of how horrible the hangover on the next day would be for him (he was a lightweight who learned it the hard way after getting into his father's special alcohol stash one day).
Well, that was what you would have thought an hour ago.
You sighed as you looked at the two boys who had all but broken the door to Ramshackle down. The pounding on the door (courtesy of Rook, who was also saying something that sounded like an essay in French as he stood outside your dorm) had woken you up from where you had fallen asleep completing assignments. You could still remember Grim's confused "Mrah?!" as he walked over and opened the front door for the two, bolting upstairs when the stink of alcohol became too much for his poor sensitive nose to bear.
Somehow, you had managed to bring the two inside, to the guest room, where they were both sprawled in a messy heap of limbs on a couch. It would have been a little cute, had they not been absolutely hammered beyond belief.
"Mon cher Trickster~" Rook hummed, eyes sly and captivating even as they drooped from the influence of alcohol. "Come nearer, and allow me... allow me the privilege of... basking in your glory..."
His voice was smooth and silky, and if it weren't for the way you saw him struggle like a newborn fawn just moments ago, you would have believed him to still be somewhat sober.
Vil, meanwhile, was just staring up at you with an awe-struck look on his face, eyes wide and shiny. Cheeks warm and a soft red from whatever he drank, he seemed content to just watch you as you stood in front of them wondering what to do. You looked over their appearance. Both the Pomefiore boys looked as beautiful as ever, even with their very obviously inebriated actions and reactions.
"What did you two drink? And how much?" You asked Rook, crouching slightly to reach his eye level. Rook scrunched his nose, looking up at the ceiling as he tried to remember; meanwhile your eyes focused on the freckles that had begun making their appearance after hours of being hidden beneath makeup.
"Apple... juice," Rook said, head tilting towards you as he answered your question. "Just... apple juice," Vil agreed, words mixing in his mouth even as he answered you with all the seriousness of a five year old trying to tell his mother that he had not had any cookies before dinner.
"You two don't seem like you had just apple juice though," you hummed, holding back a smile as Vil pouted at your words. Before he could voice any protests, you lightly patted his head, running your fingers through the silky blonde strands. Vil melted under your tender touch, eyes closing in bliss as he rested his head on Rook's chest.
"Stay," you ordered him, much in the way Crewel would with his students, but with a marked gentleness to your tone. Vil nodded, watching you with half-lidded eyes as you tried to make them more comfortable on the couch. Coaxing Rook to get up just a little for you to slip a pillow under his head, getting one of the blankets Vil had gotten especially for you, he watched you do every little thing to make their impromptu sleepover more comfortable for them.
Rook had fallen asleep by the time you finished making arrangements for the two of them to sleep somewhat comfortably. While you would have preferred to get them to your room and on an actual bed, they did not seem to be in any condition to climb the rickety stairs Ramshackle was famous for.
Ruffling Rook and Vil's hair one last time, you turned to move... only to be held back by a hand closing around your wrist. Your eyes trailed down your arm, an amused expression on your face as you saw Vil holding onto you.
"Yes, Vil?"
"Stay," Vil mirrored your words from before, the softly uttered command lacking the impact it otherwise would have had on you. Dewy eyes looked up at you, and a gentle "Please.." slipped through his lips, tugging at your heart strings the way he was tugging at your wrist.
You chuckled and acquiesced, sitting down in front of the couch with your wrist still in his grasp. Moving Rook's hand out of the way, you laid your head on the edge of the couch, looking into amethyst eyes. Eyes that softened with sleep and contentment as he watched you settle down near the two of them.
He stubbornly tried to remain awake, even as his eyelids kept drooping in protest. You, who had already had quite a restful nap (thanks to Professor Trein's homework) kept watching him in thinly veiled amusement and adoration for a few minutes, before speaking to him in a gentle tone. "You should go to sleep Vil. It's late."
A petulant pout was directed at you, and you resisted the urge to pinch his cheeks. "Come on, you need to sleep. It's important for a healthy and glowing skin, y'know," you hummed, using his own words (that he used nearly everyday for you) for him. His eyelids drooped even lower at the warmth in your voice, yet he stubbornly kept looking at you.
"I'm not going anywhere, Vil. I promise."
Finally, the male seemed satisfied with what you said. At least, that's what you figured from the way his eyes fully closed and remained closed, his breathing gradually slowing down as he fell into a deep sleep.
Your hand was still held in his. While his grip had loosened in his sleep... you did promise to stay.
Well, there were more uncomfortable places and positions you could have slept in.

Okay, so time for a summary for the whole French/Forever situation
A little context first:
Baghera tried all night to speak to BBH alone because of the stuff they discovered about Maximus and Cellbit yesterday. She also went to talk alone with Forever for quite some time
Antoine, Étoiles and Aypierre started to be suspicious of that. Baghera is obviously hiding stuff from them. She told them she will tell them about it when she has time, but it didn't happen tonight.
Except for her, all the French are suspicious of everybody on the island. When they first arrive, somebody told them that islanders tried to kill the eggs in the past. With everything that happen in the following days (Dapper first death, bobby permadeath, Cellbit betrayal, etc.), they really trust no one (except for BBH, they are really smitten by him it's quite cute)
Baghera is the one that spent the more time talking to people and discovering the lore. Because of that, she fully trusts two people: BBH and Forever.
Forever was planning an attack on the federation, which create a lot of interactions between the players that was difficult to follow for them (and us) and create really loud background noise around the Ninho
Pomme's first attack
Pomme got attack travelling with Aypierre. He told Pomme to run and teleport to the O.V.O. The system worked!!! I was scared to death, but it worked!
Pomme second attack
Baguera told Forever about the attack, and he got really stressed. He immediately tried to update his system with the remote camera and explain it to everyone. But nobody was listening to him because... you know how it is when more than 5 persons are near each other on this server.
He told the French to keep Pomme inside her room, but she keeps running outside. She keeps saying she was afraid and that she wanted to see her mom.
Then the butterfly showed up. Pomme was in a sort of trance. She wouldn't listen to her parents. And believe me when I say that she is a very obedient egg normally. The French started to panic when they realized this wasn't normal.
The Binary entity attacked. The system worked again. Pomme was teleport to her room safe and the French told her to not come out.
Pomme third attack
She kept running out anyway. She was still acting weird, not answering to her parents questions...
Forever continues to set up the machine. He looked angry that the French let Pomme out (he didn't know she was running by herself). It was a really stressful situation for him, so it doesn't surprise me he made an error with the setup.
Third attack. This time, the camera didn't work. The French Panic. Antoine run away to teleport in Pomme's room and closed the trap manually.
Now, the misunderstanding
After this attack, all the French went to Pomme room to talk about a plan of action.
Antoine, Étoiles and Aypierre believed that the system was sabotage. It was working perfectly fine for the first two attack and suddenly stopped working for the third one. Forever being the one working on it, their suspicion fell on him.
They said that there was no reason to update the system in between attack. For them, it's really SUS (the chats weren't helping with their suspicions...)
Baghera immediately started to defend him. She knows Forever would never hurt the eggs on purpose.
Everybody separated after that. They all agree that they can't leave Pomme alone, in case she teleports somewhere on the map alone and get killed. Aypierre accept to spend time with her while Baghera talk to BBH.
Aypierre message privately to Étoiles saying that Baghera is SUS. He asked him to go spy on her and BBH. Étoiles accepted.
Baghera tell Forever about the French suspicion. He seems (rightfully) upset.
Dapper discovered Étoiles (it was hilarious).
The confrontation
Forever explain to Étoiles and Baghera that what happen with the camera was a mistake due to the stress and nobody listening to him.
Étoile understand. Forever leave. Now, Étoiles is a bit upset because Baghera snitched to Forever before talking to the French. He thinks that Forever hate them now and he worries that it will affect the relationship between French and Brazilian. Both him and Bags had a little fight.
Aypierre got fed up with being alone with Pomme for a solid 30 minutes in a tiny room. He decided to go to Bags house.
He confronted her with his suspicion. Baghera said that the camera thing was only a mistake. He said that it was not only that, but everything else surrounding Forever,
He explained that he think the eggs' hotel was maybe part of Forever scheme to have 100% of Richarlyson paternity (Aypierre wasn't there for that story, so he didn't know what it was really about, just that Cellbit and Forever were fighting for Richarlyson)
Baghera explained that these two plot lines were unrelated. Aypierre immediately went "okay, never mind, he's a good guy" (I screamed at my screen at this point, I was so relived...)
They all agreed that it was a misunderstanding. Baghera explained why she was keeping things from Team France. Étoiles and Aypierre explained why they were worried about it. They were good in the end (thank god)
Étoiles and Baghera apologized to Forever. Baghera said that he saved Pomme three times today. I don't speak Portuguese, so I can't tell you how he took it, but he really seemed hurt...
EXTRA
Sorry for the long post, I hope this clear things out. Baghera was really shaken by all of this. She said at the end of her stream that she felt like she betrayed people without really meaning it. To end with a positive note, here are some reasons why Pomme wasn't actually in danger of dying today:
BadBoyHalo: the madman, the legend. He trowed a potion of invincibility on Pomme as soon as the attack started. And the thing with the Gollum? Fantastic.
Forever: for everything he did to keep Pomme safe. If it wasn't for him, she would definitely have died tonight.
Antoine: Even if he didn't ANYTHING about what was happening, he did remember his lesson and saved Pomme. The definition of "confuse but got the spirit"
Étoile: I don't know if you know this if you don't follow the French streams, but he got so many items to Pomme. He also created so much escape plans for her. Which include: Levitation potion, invincibility potions, ton of gears, the grappling, strong weapon for him and everybody. He made sure she wasn't going to die tonight, and it worked...

After your daughter was born you and your boys decided it would be best to take a break from touring and creating albums for a year to spend as much time as possible with your little girl. During that time none of you completely stopped writing and playing music, but you were prioritizing family time.
Now that your daughter turned one just over a month ago you decided it’s time to start working on a new album. You planned to bring up the idea to them after your daughter went to bed. You all took turns putting her to sleep and tonight it happened to be remus’ turn.
You were sitting on the couch in the family room braiding sirius’ hair as he sat on the floor in front of you, telling you about a new concept for a song he came up with that he just can’t seem to find the words for. He’s been begging you to do a french braid in his hair because he can figure out how to do one plus, you think to yourself, he really likes having his hair played with. Knowing this you take extra time to run your hands through his hair and scratch a little at his scalp.
James is in the kitchen attempting to make hot chocolate while also dancing to Christmas songs playing in the background. From your spot on the couch you are able to see the exact moment he tried to spin while holding cocoa mix and ended up spilling it all over himself and on the floor. You snort.
Remus finally emerges from your daughter bedroom and takes a spot next to you on the couch.
“Hi, love”
He says softly planting a soft kiss on your forehead and leaning down to give Sirius’ shoulder an affectionate squeeze.
When you look up from your loving stare at your boyfriends you are met with the sight of James clumsily trying to carry four mugs of hot chocolate over to you, Remus, and Sirius.
When everyone finally settles down and you all fall into a comfortable silence you decide to ask about the album.
“Hey, we said we’d wait a year to do anything music related and it’s been just over one. I was wondering if you all are ready to make a new album? I know the fans are supportive of us taking a year off for our daughter but i can tell they are anxious for a new album and I think it’s time, you know?”
You end with a questioning tone, while waiting for their answers you fiddle with the end of the braid you finished in Sirius’ hair.
“You know i’m more than ready babe, you just listened to me rant about a song idea for ten minutes straight!”
Sirius says enthusiastically from his spot on the floor, smiling up at you.
James nods in agreement.
“I’ve missed making music, i’ve been coming up with some really promising things on the drums lately. I think it’s a great idea to start back up!”
You smile at him, happy that both James and Sirius were thinking the same thing as you. Remus looks hesitant though,
“I think it’s a great idea, and i’ve been anxious to get back to the studio but I just want to make sure we aren’t jumping into this too quick. We have to pace ourselves and really go slower this time around. I want to make time for our daughter and I want her to be a part of the process.”
Remus says.
“Well obviously Moony! We wouldn’t dream of making an album without her, she’s our muse for crying out loud!”
Sirius exclaims, turning his body to completely face remus and give him a humorously exasperated look.
“So it’s settled then?” James questioned from the floor.
“time to make a new album” you say as a smile takes over your face.

“Hey Y/n!” Pierre said as he walked towards you, leaning in to give you a hug “How are you?”
“Hey, I’m good” you answered and greeted the French man, heading to your office. Meanwhile Pierre was talking to his friend “You still don’t like her?” he asked Charles.
“It’s not about liking, I just think that’s weird they hired someone so young and unexperienced.”
“You should give her a chance, she’s really nice” Pierre yelled before entering the Alpine garage.
.
You were watching the race on your office when you saw a car lose control, roll over and hit the barriers. It was never a good feeling whenever someone had an accident. You couldn’t see whose car it was, only that it was one of the Ferraris.
Soon enough, you got a call saying it was charles’ car, the call was also letting you know that he as coming for a checkup. You knew charles didn’t trust you enough and that obviously affected you, but you also knew that this was your chance to prove yourself to him.
Someone came in with charles and helped him sit on the bed.
“Ok, I’m gonna need you to take your helmet off, please, do you want me to help?” you asked softly but he didn’t answer you, just took off his helmet and balaclava.
You just thanked him and asked if he knew where he was, and what had happened and a series of other questions, ruling out concussion.
“Ok, look, I think you have some fractur here, so we have to go to the hospital.”
“We?” his voice came out rougher than usual, probably because of the scream he let out on radio and because he hasn’t even said a word since he came in the office.
“Yes, we, I’m your doctor if you get hurt on service, so let’s go.”
.
You were in the waiting room, you had talked to the doctors, and they were now doing some tests on Charles. Soon, a doctor came in announcing he was being put on a cast.
“Hey.” He said as he entered the room.
“Hey, how are you feeling?”
“Better” he answered as you head towards the street, immediately feeling the cold breeze hit your face. “Thank you, by the way.”
“Oh, no problem, I was just doing my job.”
“Yeah, but your job is to be my doctor, not to be nice to me when I was a total jerk to you earlier.” A small smile crept onto his face as he said it and you realized he was truly sorry.”
“It’s fine, you were upset, I understand.”
“Well, you don’t have too, so, I’m sorry, I really am.” You smiled at him and nodded softly.
You were talking outside before saying to charles “Hey, look I actually live nearby, we can walk there and I can drive us both to track, if you want to, of course.” You offered.
“Yeah, that would be great, if you don’t mind, of course.”
He let you lead the way, considering he didn’t know the way to your place. “Hey, thanks, by the way, the other doctor may have mentioned that the fracture could have gone unnoticed easily, but you saw it, so thanks.” He knew those words meant a lot to you and made you extremely proud, yet you still remained professional.
“Again, just doing my job.” You said and shivered from the cold.
“Wear my jacket.”
“What? No, of course not, it’s yours.” He forced the jackets onto your shoulders and smiled.
“Keep it.” He smiled.
The rest of the walk to your place went easy-going, and the conversation kept flowing easily.
After you reached your car, you started driving you both to track, making a joke how ‘it wasn’t a Ferrari, but you hoped it would be good enough for him’ just to tease him. Once you reached the track, charles got out of the car and asked if you wanted any company, but you sent him home to rest, because he definitely needed it. And without even realizing it, that night he went home with a smile on his face, despite the horrible crash he had been on. Maybe Pierre was right, maybe he should have given you a chance earlier, maybe you were nice, just like he said.
.
After a week, you were now in Spain, travelling with the drivers, when Charles approach you.
“Hello” he said in a singing way as he got closer.
“Hi, ready to watch the race instead of being in it?” you ask him, knowing he would be pissed, but instead, he just smiled and nodded. “You only have to miss two races, it’s not that bad.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Hey, I was meaning to ask you, do you want to watch the race from the garage, so you don’t have to be alone watching it?”
“Oh, that’s very sweet of you to offer, but I have to be in the office in case someone needs me.” You could see his expression changing until his face suddenly lit up again.
“I can watch it there with you, I’m not needed in the garage anyway, if you don’t mind of course.”
“Yeah, that would be nice.” You smiled at him and he smiled back at you, his dimples appearing as he did so.
.
That weekend and the next one, charles joined you in your office, as you both watched the race together, earing some looks and jokes from, mostly, Pierre and Lando.
.
“You like her, mate, just ask her out already.” Said max as he and Lando tried, unsuccessfully, to convince Charles to ask you out.
“I don’t think she likes me, I was very rude to her before.”
“Mate, I’ve seen the way she looks at you, she likes you.” Lando said, which made him blush and look down.
.
“Charles” you called him out.
He turned around at the mention of his name and smiled when noticed it was you who was calling him.
“Hey, how are you?” you asked the Monegasque in front of you.
“I’m good, so much better, thanks to my amazing doctor.” You laughed before continuing with the conversation.
“Listen, I don’t know if I’m crossing any boundaries or anything, but would you like to maybe go out sometime?”
“Yes” he said very quickly, and then realized how desperate it sounded so he just said again, this time more calm “I would love to.”
Turns out, Pierre was 100% right about you, you were indeed amazing.

𝚅𝙸.
You woke up sore, and an aching core.
You support yourself to sit up by your elbow you but hiss and jolt at the sudden ache you had on your lower back, you yawn and groan, moving your limbs to ease the stiff muscles. An arm tightens around your hip, startling you as you look down to see who; it’s Leon.
He does the have his shirt on, his muscles flexing as he frowns when you make small movements. You rub your eyelids with your wrist and stretch your arms up, good thing you wore some pajamas—did Leon dress you up?
“Stop moving so much…” Leon mutter, his voice tired and more deeper in the morning, making you froze in place as crimson creeps up to your cheeks and ear—getting turned on by his morning voice. “Sorry, did I wake you?” you apologized and asked, turning to him, lying down again and cuddling over to him. Burying your face to his chest.
“Didn’t know you’re a clingy type after se—” you hit him before finishing that last word. You frown at him and turn your back, “come here,” he coos, pulling you close—your back flush to his chest, his nose to the crook of your neck. Taking a deep breath as his breath tickles your neck.
You reach for your phone, ignoring Leon’s attempt to snatch your attention by brushing himself against you. You check the time and messages in your phone, “Midterms…” you mutter, dropping down your phone and groan. “What?” he asked, his chin resting to your shoulder.
“Gotta get ready…” you mutter and sat up, Leon’s arm still around your waist. Keeping you from getting off the bed, you struggle to make him let go, “can’t stay for today, princess?” he murmur, sitting up with you and resting his forehead to your neck.
“I would love to, but I have midterms.” You sigh in defeat, his fingers brushing against your abdomen, “sorry for last night, was I too rough?” he chuckle as he asked, you flush in embarrassment when you remembered how cock-drunk you were last night. Even going as far as calling Leon your daddy.
You hum in response, your body sinking in his touch. “What’s with the daddy kink, by the way?” he asked, obviously teasing you, “what do you mean? I don’t quite catch that.” You answered, pretending that you didn’t heard him.
“oh, look at the time. Time to go to school.” Quickly getting up and off your bed, catching Leon off guard as his grip suddenly loosen. You can feel his icy blues stare at your back, his gaze leaving a fire that’s been burning up and down to your back.
You look back and see him hold himself by his side, the pose that most people call paint-me-like-one-of-your-french-girls type of pose. The blanket covering his lower part, making him like a perfect nude model to sculpt and draw on.
Simply ignoring him as you get some things done, while Leon watches your every move.
Tumblr media
“I remember when you told me you want to hold a gun,” Leon started the conversation in the car, wheel turning right as he drives you to school. It’s so unfortunate that your driver isn’t available for today because he had to rush back home because of his daughter—which you gave him permission to leave for the day.
You were stiff and tense in your sit, eyes on the road while Leon talks. You thought to yourself that you’re fortunate enough that you didn’t get killed by his third leg, you feel like he’s going to kill you with his driving skills. One part of you wishes that his license get revoked.
You hum to answer his question, low and meek. Leon turns to you and raise a brow, “something wrong?” you shake your head in response and sink your nails deeper to your seat. His hand found its way to your thigh and give it a squeeze, “don’t worry, I’m not going to crash us.” He assured, his thumb caressing your flesh.
“as I was saying,” Leon made a stop and got out of the car—unbuckling his seatbelt first, then circle around the car and open your door like a passenger princess you are. “After your exam, I’ll be here. And I will teach you how to hold a gun and shoot. What do you say?” Leon suggested, he swear he caught your eyes sparkling with delight. “Really?” you took his hand and got out of a car, as if you’re some royalty that deserve to be treated with such delicacy.
Leon nodded, brushing your knuckles with his thumb as he brought up to his face and his lips made contact with your hand. You blush and chuckle at his move, trying to pull your fingers out from his grasp, “stop that, you look like an idiot.”
“I know I can’t get inside with you because you told me that I’ll cause a distraction because students find me perfection.” He said before interlocking your fingers together, “which I find such bullshit.” You shake your head at him and pinch his cheeks.
“Pop quiz before I let you go,” Leon said, bringing your hands up to wrap around his neck, his blue bonds with the warmth of your glittering eyes. “What is a microprocessor?” he asked, you cleared your throat and confidently answered; “A microprocessor is an integrated circuit having all the functionality of a central processing unit of a PC.” You grin and he nodded, “good, good.”
His face dangerously close to yours, nose touching as he part his lips and ask again, “What is a programming language?”
“A programming language is a collection of grammar rules to instruct computers or computing devices to perform tasks!” you yelp but answered correctly again, his hands were tickling your sides as you both hear a familiar shout from the distance, “bitch! I have called you for a w…” Sarina had gone silent as she saw the two of you, being all lovey-dovey. “Holy shit.”
“Girl!” The grin spreading to your friends face made you retreat from Leon’s touch, you know damn well that she’ll be asking you questions once you two got inside campus. Leon chuckle and held your hand before you leave, “want some Spanish latte after your midterm?” he asked, you nodded and smiled. “Text me when you finish your exam.”
“okay!” you walk up to Sarina and she gave you a bump on the shoulder, Leon got inside his car and drove away—looking at you from the side mirror as he drove off, seeing you wave him goodbye.
Sarina clung to your shoulder, pulling you as she couldn’t wait any longer to hear what kind of tea you’ll be sharing with her.
Walking around the hallways until you both found your respective class, your professor scaring the two of you at the door then giving the paper with a smile in his face. Laughing at you and your friends reaction, which got Sarina almost hitting the prof.
“by the way, girl. Why do you walk like that?” Sarina asked, taking the paper and walking beside you, tilting your head with confusion, you asked her, “what do you mean?”
“You walk like you just got fucked.” You hit her shoulder with the paper you’re holding and sat beside her, she made a small ‘o’ with her lips, pouting why you’d hit her when she just asked, “unless, you….” She raised a brow, your eyes rolled as you take your pen and write down your name, “take the test or keep gossiping.” You mutter.
“girl, you are fucking scoring to the Leon S. Kennedy!” she shriek in a whisper, she felt more happier for you and keeps bumping you to give you a shit-eating grin. God, you wish you could hide the fact that you just got fucked; it was hard and rough too for your first time. You wish you could’ve walked more normal than limping every few seconds because your core is sore and the aching feeling you had in your lower back.
Surprisingly, you finish the test since last night Leon was fucking you to oblivion while giving you a pop quiz, every wrong answer—he’d push deeper, but won’t move to satisfy your aching cunt.
You clenched your legs together as you thought about last nights incident, wishing that the arousal isn’t pooling down to damp your underwear. You think of how he snaps his hips every time you talk back at him, making you choke and sob. How he would delay your release and every answer you got correct, he would circle around your bud and hard fucked you until you deserve to come.
You earn that fucking release because you got the majority of his questions correct, making you exhausted and limp. You hate how much he has his fingers all over you, that you’d b willing to please him. Looking like a dejected pup when he doesn’t give you attention right away.
Maybe he was right, you’ve become a brat—no, you are a brat. In his eyes, a brat that he’s willing to tame every chance that you misbehave.
These thoughts kept on running until Sarina harshly bumps you to snap back to reality, “earth to miss?” she whispered, pinching your side which made you wince and almost let out a loud ‘ouch’.
“You wanna turn it in or are you daydreaming about Leon f—”
“Say it, and I will give you an uppercut.”
Her lips now shut in a thin line as you asked her to turn your paper in too. You stood up and brush those thoughts away and catches up to Sarina.
You didn’t notice how time flies, when Sarina kept asking you question about your blonde bodyguard. Poking your cheeks and annoying you if you refuse to answer her.
“Is he like, doing the things men do in books?” you raise a brow to her question as you’re eating some hamburger, you thought about it for a while. He’s opening doors for you, when you ask that your feet hurts—he’d carry you bridal style, when you call for him, rest assured that he’s already there.
So it’s safe to say to your friend that he may be one of the real life book boyfriends that Sarina’s reading about, you gave her a nod and took the last bite of your food. She whines and keeps shaking you, “you’re so lucky!” she said. Yeah, so lucky that he’s a good fucker too.
You never knew you’d also ask yourself if older guys do it better, but then again. He’s your first.
A honk startled you, almost dropping your drink as you turn your gaze to the car—the windows rolled down and it’s Leon. His looking at you, nodding his head to gesture you to come now, “got to go, see you!” you bid farewell to your friend, she watch you walk away and as if she had seen her best friend finally clinging like a koala to someone else.
“Spanish latte, venti. For my princess.” He handed you the paper bag with your drink inside. “Thank you, you’re such a considerate bodyguard.” You blink pretty for him before taking out your drink from the bag, plunging the straw and taking a sip. “You’re forgetting something, sweetheart.”
You turn your head and tilt in confusion, “come on, where’s my thank you kiss?” he tease, his eyes on the road—driving to his workplace again. You rolled your eyes to him, and shift your position so you could reach him. He leans and you gave him a quick peck on the cheek, which made him grin so hard.
“Thank you for my lovely bodyguard and the D.S.O’s most dangerous agent to get me my drink.” You teased and lean back to your seat again, you hear him chuckle as he turn the wheels and parked the car.
Even though you only visited this place once, people already knew who you were—his co-workers and other researchers, as if the word spread like wildfire. You saw familiar faces again as they greeted you with a warm welcome back smiles, you clung to Leon’s bicep as he guides you to the shooting area.
His friends followed to watch how Leon can guide you, teach you the do’s and don’ts of holding a gun and shooting the gun.
You admit, you’re kind of nervous. Your hands visibly shaking and your palms sweating, Leon tease you for it. “Come on, sweetheart. How can you protect yourself if you couldn’t hold it properly?” you want to punch him here and there but people are watching. He does have a point, how could you defend yourself when Leon isn’t around when he’ll be sent away because of a mission?
You don’t want to be a helpless girl, taking a couple of deep breaths as you position yourself. Leon’s behind you and telling you the do’s and don’ts.
“I want you to know the Golden rules for handling a gun, princess.” Leon starts, his voice calm and a whisper, “Always keep your fingers straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.” You nod.
“Like this?” you asked, positioning your fingers just as he said. “Like that, here—let me help you first,” he holds your hands that’s been holding a gun, both of your hands are in his palm. Squeezing so that you could stop from shaking and assures you that it’ll be all right and that it’s always scary when it’s your first.
“Now, remember to keep your gun pointed to a safe direction,” Leon mutters to your ear, his front flush against your back. His friends were standing there as if they’re watching a live romance episode.
“Aim at the target,” you do as he says as his voice became more authoritative, you aim—his hands still wrap around your fingers. “Take a deep breath,” you did, a couple more times, Leon help you shot the first one, “see? Not so bad.” He assures and lets you go, backing himself to let you be on your own.
You adjust your position, taking deep breaths—your eyes to the target. Your finger creeping in to the trigger, then bang. Right at the red dot, you never smiled so hard in your life. You shot right where the red dot is, “Leon! D-Did you see that?” you jump, “princess, the gun.”
“Oops,” you place the gun down, not wanting to accidentally shoot your toe, “sorry.” you scratched the back of your head and jump your way to Leon and brag about how you did that all on your own.
“yeah, so proud of you, princess.” He says, “why does it feel like you don’t mean it?” you raise a brow, suspicious of his own words, “you hurt me with those words.” He chuckle, “wanna have a go again?” you nodded and you did.
You were enjoying your time, Leon gave you another tip and rules on how to handle a gun. “Don’t aim your gun to someone who you don’t intend to shoot, okay?” you hum in response, you both sitting on a bench and eating the donuts that Luis bought for what he say, “love birds.”
The room fell silent, only your munching was heard and Leon is wiping the gun with some cloth, “I won’t here for a while, my flight leaves in three days.” He said, making you stop chewing and look at him in the eye, “what do you mean?” you asked, “got assigned to another mission,” you made a sad ‘oh’ and look down to your ground. “I trust you don’t cause any trouble, and if you’re ever in danger. You know what to do.” Leon spoke those words proudly.
You nod, but felt anxious since you have grown use to Leon always being at your side. In just a call, he’s there. What if he doesn’t come back though, what would you do?
“Will you come back?”
Those words made Leon crack a small smile, “of course,” he mutter, brushing a strand of hair at the back of your ear, “just gonna be gone for a couple of days or week…” you look at him with sad yet hopeful eyes, “probably a month…” he finishes.
“I’ll hate you forever if you die on me.”
“Never.”
You scoot over and lie your head to his shoulder, his arm swung around you and brought you closer. Feeling his warmth, you ought to make his three days worth a while before his flight. Be touch and hear his voice for the last three days before he departs.
You don’t have to worry, he’ll be safe when you are safe at the back of his mind.
He should remember to bring you some souvenirs when he gets back.

Soulmate! Eunseok 。𖦹°⊹₊⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Eunseok grew up as next door neighbors for years, so it was only natural that you both were best friends
• With the countless times that you both tease or argue with each other over petty things, there were times where you were each other's rock in times of need, and you never seemed to be apart from each other
• Which made you think that maybe he was your soulmate
• But it really couldn't be that simple. Some people take years to find their soulmates, and you doubt that your fate would be so perfect
• And on the day of your 18th birthday, the quote of your soulmate appeared on your body.
• It took you a while to notice that it was on your ribs, and you had to read it in the mirror to be able to make out what it said
• Now, the quote is supposed to be something significant and memorable, which it was, but you can't seem to think about who would say “I stole his cheese fries,” when it would happen…and why?
• Your mind immediately thinks of Eunseok, because stealing someone else’s food seems to be his forte
• But deciding not to wrack your mind any further, you let fate takes its course, as it obviously would anyway
• And a year passed with not even a sign that your soulmate is near, but you just continued living as you did, not worrying too hard because you had someone to share the seeking experience with
• You didn't tell Eunseok about what your quote said, and he only told you that his quote wasn't anything special and didn't really stand out much
• So you both have just been waiting around, even joking about when and where and who it'd be
• "What if it were your history professor?" He asked, laughing at the thought as you both walked towards the cafeteria on campus
• "Please stop talking.” you told him, shaking your head as you were disturbed by the thought
• He just laughed again before going up to order his food, and you found Shotaro at a table nearby
• He looked up from his phone and smiled
• "Are you gonna eat?" He asked
• "No, I'm just gonna wait until I get home. I don’t want to feel lethargic during our two hour long lecture” you sigh, taking a seat across from him
• “Yeah, I know the feeling" he says, before looking past you with a questioning look at Eunseok and Sunghan
• "Why do you look annoyed?" Shotaro asked
• Sunghan, who sat his tray down and picked up a french fry, just stared at it before shooting a glare at Eunseok
• Eunseok sat next to you, a broad smile on his face as he answered for Seunghan
• "I stole his cheese fries. They were the last ones up there and they just ran out but I got to them before he did" he said
• "You didn't even like them until I got them last time!" Seunghan said back to him, clearly dissatisfied with his plain fries
• And it took you a second to realize that what Eunseok had said was what you had quoted on your body
• Cutting into their little argument, you turned to him, wide-eyed
• "I knew it was you!" you said excitedly
• And within a second, Eunseok’s eyes light up and the smile already on his face seemed to get bigger
• "Wow...cheese fries? That’s what’s written on your body?"
• "Well…yes. And you were right about your quote being pretty basic” you said, and he just shrugged
• "Doesn't matter to me. Thank god it didn't last any longer than this though, or I would've been driven crazy" Eunseok says, reaching for your hand under the table
• "What? I’m sorry, what just happened?” you heard Shotaro pipe up from across the table, total confusion sketched across his face
• “Y/N and I are soulmates thanks to Seunghan’s almost cheesy fries” Eunseok answered
"Thanks, Seunghan" You said, noticing his mood go from irritated to excited
"Wow. I've never seen soulmates mesh before. I'm glad I could be of help" he joked, but then not-so-jokingly told Eunseok that he had to buy him fries next time
• "Okay! I get it, I owe you" He laughed, relishing in the moment, eating with his right hand and holding yours hand in his left
• While Shotaro and Seunghan started their own side conversation, Hangyul whispered to you
• "I think we should skip our next lectures and go home to tell our parents"
• "Yeah. But they'll just say 'we told you so' and talk about how great we seemed with each other since we were little"
• "But they weren't wrong" he replied as you leaned into his side
• "You're right. I bet they wouldn't have thought cheese fries would have been the reason why though"
• "Honestly...I don't think it'd surprise them to hear it"
• You think about it before nodding
• "That's true."
• "Hey, this means I can kiss you now, right?
• "NOT here” Shotaro pleaded, a look of what seemed like despair his face
• And you almost laughed before you both said your goodbyes and left to your cars to go back home
• But not before he got to kiss you …..a lot
• A shared thought finally come to life for the both of you
• And the thought you had that fate wouldn't be on your side couldn't have been more wrong

!!ABBY IS STRAIGHT IN THE BEGINNING. READER IS HER GAY AWAKENING!!
˖⁺‧₊˚ ♡ ˚₊‧⁺˖
The light of my slightly opened blinds shone through onto my eyes. The birds were chirping and the sky was a lovely light blue.
And I was pissed off and hung over.
I decided now that its 10 am I should probably pick up Dina's incessant calling and answer Ellies 'im sorry i got u fucked up' text.
My dimly lit kitchen smelled of lavender and burnt toast as I dialed Dina's number and listened to the tone ring.
Oh, so now she isn't going to pick up?
"Hey, D," I said when the ringing stopped.
"Ugh, finally!! I've been calling you all morning," Dina scolded me as if I wasn't so obviously hungover.
"Yeah believe it or not I know,"
"Ok, so, I called to ask you...something,"
This tone with Dina was never good.
This tone means Dina is up to something.
"Oh, jesus, ok what,"
"So, my master plan went perfect last night, and I saw you talking to our new favorite muscle mommy-"
I cut her off by saying "Oh, that was your master plan? It had nothing to do with leaving me to fend for myself so you can make out with Jesse on a couch?"
".....No?"
I let out a quick exhale through my nose, "So whats the question?"
"Obviously my question is: How did it go?"
I sighed and thought back to my interaction with Abby the previous night. "Good. No, bad. Well, good and bad. Gad,"
"What is that even supposed to mean?"
"You knowww, we like talked for a bit and got to know eachother, but the heartbreaking news, is that she is not a carpet muncher,"
"WHAT! NO WAY!"
"I KNOW. You should've heard me she was all: 'you're gay?' and I went: 'you aren't??'"
Dina snorted into the receiver as I laughed along with her.
"Well shoot. That's a bust," She said, still chuckling. "Hey, wanna go to Laverne's? I'm craving pancakes and french fries real bad,"
"Yes please, 'vernies is the best hangover cure"
"Kay, Ill be at your place in fifteen,"
I hung up the phone as my kettle began to whistle at me from the stove.
I walked over, grabbing a mug on the way and poured in the boiling water. I grabbed my favorite tea and walked into my bathroom to help myself to look slightly more presentable.
Jesus I looked like shit.
I began brushing my teeth before there was a knock at my door.
I rolled my eyes at Dina's overestimate of arriving in "fifteen".
"Dina you said fift-" I cut myself off as I swung open the door and was not met with Dina's face.
Are you fucking kidding me.
Abby fucking Anderson was standing at my front door (looking handsome as ever of fucking course) while I looked like I had just crawled out of the sewers.
"Hi" She awkwardly said with a half smile.
"Oh, hey Abby,"
There was a moment of awkward silence before Abby seemingly jolted in memory of why she was at my door to begin with.
"You, uh, left this on the chair you were sitting on last night, figured you might be looking for it," She said, pulling my pink hello kitty wallet out of her strangely large pocket.
"Oh, shit, thanks Abby," I answered before grabbing my wallet back. "I guess that's pretty important,"
Abby exhaled through her nose in a chuckle. "Yeah well I cant be your knight in shining armor every time. Last night hitting hard, huh?" She looked my slightly up and down teasingly and I suddenly felt very aware of my messy hair, thin sleep tank, and pajama pants.
"Yeah yeah I'll be more careful. Thank you again."
"Yeah no biggie. Um, I gotta run, but I'll see you?"
"For sure, see you Abby,"
We smiled at each other before I shut the door.
Oh my god that was so embarrassing.
I glanced at the time and realized I didn't have long before Dina actually got here.
After fixing myself up and being halfway dressed the real Dina knocked on my door. I shouted a "just a sec" before throwing on my jeans and getting my things and opening the door.
"Hi D,"
"Hey sweets, how ya feeling?" Dina teased with a smirk.
I gave her a playful eyeroll accompanied by a middle finger.
She threw her head back with a laugh and wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "I told you not to do that shit anymore,"
"Yeah well after my wakeup call this morning I won't,"
'You're welcome,"
I sighed before replying with "Not yours, although that one was miserable too,"
"Oh? What wakeup call are you referring to, then?" She asked, turning her head in my direction.
"Ugh I'll tell you at Laverne's,"
‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.‧₊˚
The familiar diner smelled like coffee and pie as it welcomed my senses.
Dina and I made a beeline for the back of the restaurant, where our usual table resided right by the kitchen door.
We plopped down in out usual seats and told the waitress our orders before Dina shot me a look.
"...What?" I asked looking around.
"Helloooo, your 'other wakeup call'??" She said looking at me as if I was stupid.
"Oh! Right right, well I had gotten your call, right? And no kidding like two minutes after we hung up there was a knock at my door, so, obviously I thought it was you and answered the door looking like some sort of extraterrestrial and you will literally never guess who was at the door,"
"Was it...girl I don't know just tell me,"
"It was our favorite muscle mommy," I said laughing with embarrassment.
"WHAT?? You're telling me Abigail Anderson was at your fucking apartment this morning??" She asked, a little too loud.
"Jesus, D, keep your voice down. And yes, she was totally there, and looked totally smoking hot,"
"And what did she want?" Dina suggestively wiggled her brows.
"Ugh, unfortunately that's never gonna happen. She was bringing me my wallet, said I dropped it last night,"
"Wait, what? She already have a girlfriend or something?"
"Dina, she's straight, remember?"
"Psh, are you sure? She's like the gayest looking girl I've seen,"
"Dude, I asked. She's straight as a square,"
"Whatever more like a circle"
"Wh-"
I was interrupted by what I thought was the waitress coming in, but was actually Ellie sliding into the seat next to me.
"Hello gentleman" she said with a smirk.
"Hey Els," I greeted my friend.
"Hey Ellie is your f-" I cut off Dina's sabotage with a kick to the shin and my best "you better fucking not" stare before she embarrassed me further.
"What?" Ellie confusedly looked between the two of us.
I gave Dina another look, this time softer and more pleading and I saw her give in.
"Oh, nothing, not important,"
"Hey, liar. What were your gonna say?"
Before Dina could conjure one of her perfect excuses the actual waitress came to give Dina and I our orders, while Ellie made one of her own.
"Ordered a lot of food there, Williams," I teased with a smirk.
"Nah, not all for me," She brushed off my statement.
"Who the hell else would it be for?" I asked, as the answer to my question walked right through the door.
You have got to be kidding.
a/n: hey...hey...how yall doin....
im so sorry for being gone for so long pls forgive me!! Starting up uni again has been rough, especially moving back in for the year. but i promise i will try and update as much as i can.

kink that doesn't say it's kink
i never thought id have a full blog post in me about writing but ive been rotating this in my head for days and finally think i can put my thoughts down. obv this is all subjective and only relative to me, it's not a screed about how you should write. it's more a look into my thinking.
for the past like, two weeks, i've been trying to come up with a story that fit the title "bred and breakfast" and coming up miserably blank. because hard as i try i couldn't find my way into a story that was a) about a bed and breakfast b) involved breeding kink in the way i want to do it and c) did not look at the camera and go "today we're writing about someone engaging in breeding kink!"* and issue C is what i'm gonna talk about.
for me, the purpose of writing smut, particularly genre smut that isn't just two people in the regular world having sex, is to present a reader with a fantasy situation where their kink is a natural consequence of the narrative. a situation where the fantasy is not an imagined fantasy for the characters, but a lived reality. obviously there are exceptions and ways to work a character having a relevant kink into the narrative (ex: the xenosexuality conference, brilliant's explicit kink for being an object of curiosity feeding into her situation as an object of curiosity to a bunch of horny aliens), but generally i want my stories to be about sexy things happening without premeditation or the characters pointing out that the situation is constructed.
it's the difference between a story about a bdsm couple tying the sub to a wall and pretending he's a prisoner in a dungeon getting whipped and getting off on it, and a story about a sexy criminal being tied to a dungeon wall and getting whipped and getting off on it. they are ultimately the same thing. guy gets whipped and gets a boner. the latter just does away with the tools of constructing the fantasy (negotiating, safewords, aftercare) and serves you the fantasy direct as part of a larger narrative you can care about. why is the prisoner there? what is his relationship to the whipper that makes this erotic? what happens to him after they fuck? his answers to those questions are more interesting to me than the bdsm sub's.
but as i said, this is all highly subjective. maybe the bdsm couple is more your speed and that's fine. but nothing pulls me out of a narrative like a story going "we're going to do bdsm now!" if bdsm and the fact it Is bdsm are not vital to the narrative. i do not want the strapping stablehand to explain safewords to his master he's about to spank in a barn. just spank him without asking, because he doesn't respect you. spank him til he bleats like a sheep and understands how hard you work to take care of his lordship's horses. spank him because it's what he deserves, not because we're engaging in spanking kink.
and the challenge for me now is figuring out a convincing way to get a character on a breeding bench at a bed and breakfast without them going "i would like french toast and to be put on a breeding bench for big cow men to fuck please" because while that might be funny, and might be sexy, it doesn't make for a very compelling narrative.
*and i don't want help figuring it out. i'll get there on my own

~Handsome Stranger | 1 | Gwi
Tumblr media
French: /the petals of love/
Pairing: Gwi x fem! noble! Reader
Summary: A heartless vampire falls in love for the first time in centuries of loneliness. Passion, secrets, betrayal and love drown the royal palace. Will your love for Gwi prevail through time or will it wither away like a fallen rose petal? Maybe love was his punishment, maybe love was your salvation. Or wasn't it a curse to you both? Because, who can beat a race against time? Who can love in the dark? Who can love without truth? After all, even the most beautiful flower will wither away and end in ashes of time, remembered only by the one who cherished her the most.
Warnings: strangers to lovers? fluff, angst, minor injury, blood, this is a light chapter tbh. Mentions of marriage, talks about arranged marriage, age gap (huge), historical! AU, royal! AU?, cannon copilant, (let me know if I missed anything!)
Word Count: 2.3k words
A/N: Guys, I have fallen in love. In honour of my new obsession called Lee Soo Hyuk I'll write this story and hopefully many more! I'll warn you, this story will get darker as it progresses and will follow canon although it is settled before the series so the characters from The Scholar Who Walks The Night will not appear in this fic (apart from Gwi, obviously). This is some sort of a prequel so I hope you will enjoy it!
I'll update when I have time, dears. I just started my business and I'm also working part-time while also going to college at night so, yeah. I'll do my best so please let me know your thoughts! Happy reading everyone :)
Tumblr media
Gwi looked at her with an intriguing gaze, eyes sharp under the candles' light.
"I would not hesitate to let someone as clever as you take the throne. You remind me of a woman I used to know. That woman was clever and ambitious like you."
Hye-Ryeong swallowed, testing the waters with her next question.
"Did you care for her?"
Gwi looked at the distance, as if his mind was transported back to his memories from centuries ago.
"I had feelings for her. I had never cared for a mortal woman before."
Some tension filled the cave, the flickering candles allowing soft light to illuminate the place.
"What happened to that woman?"
Asked Hye-Ryeong once more, wanting to know if there was only another small crumb of the vampire's past who sat in front of her.
"I killed her."
Was his answer, the words came tumbling from his lips without resistance at all but there was a heaviness in his voice that made a tremble travel down her spine. Gwi looked up at her, his eyes swarming with the memory of his distant love.
"I could not help it. She had my child without my knowledge."
Hye-Ryeong looked at the man before her, with almost sympathy in her gaze. Almost. The idea of him killing someone he loved made her stomach twist with emotions she wasn't quick enough to grasp.
"A child between a vampire and a human being is said to kill vampires."
His voice sounded deeper than usual, dripping with the disgrace of his actions.
"What happened to the child?"
She asked in an almost shy way, for a moment fearing what his reaction to such an inquiry would be.
"The child likely died since it occurred over 200 years ago."
Gwi looked down at the drawing he was making, the image of his love made memories he had long since buried in his mind resurface, opening scars and bleeding with poisonous remorse for what he had done to the only woman he had loved in his long life and who also loved him back.
Tumblr media
Darkness fell over the village, clouds covered the moon, not allowing any kind of light to illuminate the dark city. The royal palace was silent, as if it were desolate. No soul walked through the gardens, no oil was being burned. Everything was still. Everything swam in a dark sea.
Except for one soul who walked the royal grounds as if he owned it. In a way, he did. Gwi, was his name. A name that few knew but all to whose existence lived in their minds feared to no tremor.
He walked among the night. Watched over the village. His domain. His kingdom. For he had ruled over the most powerful man in Goryeo for years. Through generation over generation of royal princes. He ruled it all. He owned it all. He had it all to his reach, everything a human would ever want in their miserably short life he had conquered it.
He paraded through the still gardens, a soft yet cold breeze made his silky dark hair fly softly. A sigh escaped his lips, the full moon was approaching and that only meant he'd have to go hunt once more. Like every month.
Gwi halted in his steps when he smelled the sweetest aroma he had ever felt in his astonishingly long life. His feet walked with a mind of their own, going toward such sweetness he smelled through the air and made his eyes cloud with crimson desire.
Blood.
That was what he smelled. The substance that he needed, craved to live. Blood was life to humans, and it also meant life to vampires like himself. The smell got stronger, he felt his heart beat in his chest wildly in anticipation.
However, he had to stop himself before approaching the source of such an electable aroma. Gwi hid behind some bushes, his curiosity and intrigue getting the best of him as he watched a young woman crouched down on the ground, a finger between her lips as she sucked her own blood from her small injury.
You had left your room late at night in order to find some peace among the darkness. Your mind was troubled, so was your heart. You've had little time for yourself the last few months, leaving the night as your only free time of your day. As ironic as it sounded.
While walking the large palace grounds, you encountered a small hidden garden filled with beautiful roses. In the midst of your curiosity, you bent down and picked one, then another and another. Already thinking that you could put it in a nice vase back in your room when you returned. But a hiss escaped your lips as a thorn teared at your flesh and blood oozed out of the small wound.
You placed the rustic bouquet on the ground and sucked on the injury, trying to stop the bleeding. However, a sudden noise made you halt in your actions. You looked around, the little lamp you had brought with yourself did little to illuminate your surroundings.
You knew you shouldn't be out of your room alone, especially at night. The warning of your father was still fresh on your memory from the first time he caught you leaving the safety of your bedroom. With quick movements you grabbed your lamp and walked hastily back to your room, leaving the roses behind. Completely unaware of the vampire watching over your retreating figure as his eyes held curiosity for that beautiful woman with a delighting scent.
Tumblr media
Days passed and he was still mesmerised by that woman he saw in the gardens the other night. Gwi sat on his throne, daytime illuminated the city yet he was forced to remain in his underground palace. A beautiful construction between the darkness. His own paradise.
The chief counselor was suddenly in his presence. The old man bowed down slowly at the vampire before greeting him with irony dripping from his words.
"My Lord, thank you for allowing me this audience with you. I am truly honoured to be in your presence."
Gwi sighed, already bored with this interview as he signalled him to start saying what he wanted to say.
"My Lord, you know everything that occurs in these palace walls. Every gossip and truth is delivered to you first."
"Get on with it."
The Chief Counselor gulped, his hands tangling in front of him to stop them from fidgeting before he spoke once more.
"As you may know, my daughter has been ready for marriage for years now but I would like your wise opinion, My Lord. She possesses an extraordinary beauty and I know her marriage would be beneficial to the council."
Now that picked Gwi's interest. He leaned forward on his throne, his eyes piercing as he looked directly to the Chief Counselor's intimidated eyes.
"Who do you have in mind, Counselor Lee?"
The old man lifted his head in an almost challenging way that Gwi didn't like at all.
"Kang Ju Won, My Lord."
Gwi hummed to himself, as if he were genuinely interested in this marriage. Perhaps a part of him was as Jun Won had been rebellious against Gwi's orders. Not enough to get him killed yet... but still something that the vampire despised with all his being for loyalty is the most important thing in the world, even more so than love.
"Your beautiful daughter shouldn't go to waste with an old man like him but I will not deny how advantageous that marriage will be for me. You can start the preparations for the wedding, Counselor Lee."
The latter bowed down, not being able to suppress the smile that stretched over his aged features.
"I will, My Lord. Thank you for giving your consent, your opinion is the only thing that matters to me."
Gwi looked at him with an emotionless gaze, his sharp features looking even sharper as the candles around him flickered ever so softly. He gestured for the counselor to leave and he did so silently. Leaving the vampire alone with his thoughts once more in his enormous underground palace.
Tumblr media
He didn't know why he had left his palace that night. The full moon was tomorrow, his senses and instincts were sharper than ever but Gwi found himself walking through the gardens like a couple of days ago when he saw the mysterious woman of the roses and sweet scent.
A scent he hadn't been able to forget, in fact it had impregnated into his memories and something within him prompted him to search for her once more.
He halted in his steps when he heard a soft sound coming from around some bushes. Gwi turned around, curious as ever so as to know the source of the sniff-like sound. He rounded a corner and was met with the same woman from the other night. He looked at the way she was crouched in front of the same roses, her elegant dress puffing around her yet this time she was crying.
"A rose never cries, let alone at night."
You gasped at the sudden voice that spoke next to you. It startled you, causing you to fall from your crouching position directly into the ground. You looked up only to spot a tall and handsome man dressed in dark robes with pale skin and long, dark hair. His voice, deep as the ocean, made you shiver as you found yourself under his intense gaze.
"Who are you?"
The man before you tilted his head to the right ever so slightly, the motion made you gulp for some strange reason. He was astonishingly beautiful with a mysterious aura around him that told you to get away but at the same time pulled you to not take a step back and leave his presence.
"Why are you crying?"
He completely disregarded your question, not that you noticed as you were enthralled into his amazing looks and that voice of his... it made you tingle all over your body. It almost seemed as if he had hypnotised you. Perhaps he did. At the lack of your response he crouched down, taking in your features with his sharp and dark eyes that looked like he held a starless galaxy in his irises.
You sniffled, wiping the remaining tears from your cheek with the back of your hand as you broke eye contact with the handsome stranger, eyes setting on your lap as you spoke once more.
"My father is going to marry me off."
Gwi sat down, he didn't know why he did it. He didn't know why he was there, let alone why he engaged in conversation with the beautiful woman of the magnificent natural perfume.
"What a lucky man for he'll get a beautiful wife."
You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest as you looked at him, nearly gasping at the proximity.
"I don't want to get married. Not yet at least."
He lifted an eyebrow at your open statement, at your honesty despite you both being strangers. But something about that honesty stirred a part of him he didn't want to admit he had in the first place.
"Who is your father, petal?"
The rumbling of his voice was as deep as thunder. It made you swallow as you looked into his eyes.
"Lee Beom Seok."
Gwi had to hide the surprise from his face at the name that left your lips. So you were the counselor's daughter. Now it kind of made sense for your father to want to marry you off for you were, indeed, rather beautiful. No other mortal woman has ever been that mesmerising to the vampire before in his long life. That is until you came.
"Do you really wish for the marriage to be cancelled?"
He said in that thunderous voice of his you couldn't help but nod to answer him, not finding words to speak your own desire. Gwi sighed before he stood up while you watched his movements, elegant on its own.
"I can make that happen, petal."
You sniffled at his words. Your hands fidgeted with the ornament on your dress as you looked up at the handsome stranger who offered you a way out of the nightmare you were going to be forced to live in.
"I can stop your marriage from happening, that is if you come with me."
He extended his hand toward you, a silent invitation to take it. Take it and free yourself from this unwanted marriage but, what other chain going with him will put around your neck? You had learned the hard way that nothing is free in this cruel world and right now, you don't have much of a choice but to accept the last straw of hope given to you.
Your hand found home in his and Gwi pulled you up to your feet with a soft yet delicate motion. He wasn't going to admit it, let alone speak it out loud but... in a very deep part of his dead heart, he liked the feeling of your smaller hand in his large palm.
"You made the right choice, petal. Now tell me, what is your name?"
You felt how your heart quickened in your chest at the intensity in his dark eyes. You looked up and spoke in that voice he was starting to really like.
"Lee (y/n), My Lord."
Gwi smirked, pulling you to his side as he began walking back to his underground palace with your hand still clasped in his.
"From now on, you serve me, sweet petal. You are mine now."

#WarriorNunWednesday on Twitter (November 16, 2022)
KRISTINA TONTERI-YOUNG
Q: WAIT WAIT who do you think is a swiftie between avatrice
KTY: Bea
Q: Any anime you're watching at the moment? @TonteriYoung Just remembered that you used to cosplay so
KTY: I’m not watching any at the moment actually! Any recommendations?
Q: when do you think bea started falling for ava??
KTY: About the time she got the book out of Shannon’s old room and then got hurt, but maybe even earlier 🤷🏻‍♀️
Q: were there any improvised avatrice moments 🫂
KTY: Not really dialogue-wise but a lot of small movement details were just us doing what felt natural.
Q: any funny behind the scenes story on set you can and wanna share? 😁
KTY: If you wait for the interview i did with Ange you’ll hear about a really funny one!

KTY: Um I cried
Q: are there any behind-the-scenes photos you have on your phone that you can share with us?
KTY:
Tumblr media
Q: what’s your favourite episode in season 2?
KTY: Ghhh maybe 5
Q: we've seen Beatrice display her skills in so many various ways throughout both seasons, what's a skill you would love Beatrice to have which we have not seen (yet)?
KTY: I mean selfishly I’d like to have her do scenes in French or Russian, that would be pretty cool 🎆
Q: how many tattoos do you have now and what tattoo are u thinking of getting next?
KTY: 4 and I don’t know really I’m taking a break
Q: what’s ur fave book? any book recommendations?
KTY: Three body problem trilogy, Dreyer’s English is a funny one if you’re into reading about grammar for fun
Q: Do you know what Beatrice's plan is after leaving the OCS at the end of season 2? Where is she going/doing? and if not, what would you like her to be doing?
KTY: I mean we didn’t really set down in stone what she was going to do once she left, so in my mind she’s going to try and live her life like Ava would have wanted, while also obviously find out what Lilith was talking about when she mentioned the holy war.
Q: What was your favorite fight scene?
KTY: Church fiiiiight
Q: did you improvise any of beatrice’s lines this season?
KTY: “Pleasure.” Wasn’t in the script I think
Q: do you think Beatrice left the OCS in the intention of closing the door on this chapter in her life (including Ava) or is she going to actually look for ways to get Ava back?
KTY: I think she’s definitely going to be involved with the OCS but not in the same capacity as before
Q: hardest scene to shoot?

Q: what do you think beatrice’s biggest pet peeve??
KTY: Selfishness
Q: do you have any ideas for what beatrice was like as a kid? or what activities she might have done growing up?
KTY: She was probably that kid in the classroom who just stares out the window and doesn’t really pay attention, but when called knows the answer immediately. Probably not very sociable tbh. I imagine she liked chess and puzzle games stuff like that
Q: do you put milk or cereal in the bowl first? follow up: would beatrice put milk or cereal first
KTY: Cereal first for both of us

KTY: Hanging out on the hotel rooftop and playing something like charades
Q: if we get a season 3, what would you personally like to see from it? With Beatrice and with the rest of the characters💕
KTY: I’d like to see Beatrice solidify herself as her own person separate from being a nun and allow herself to live like she’s always wanted to live. As for the others that’s really up to them!
Q: do you have a scene that was your favourite to shoot this season? The dance scene in ep.1 looked so much fun!
KTY: Ava passing through the portal was probably my favorite to film
Q: what's your go-to starbucks drink? and what would be beatrice's? 🤓
KTY: I don’t drink coffee anymore so my Starbucks order was some kind of breakfast sandwich 😅. She’d probably go for a black tea.
Q: please elaborate to me what you think bea & ava were doing in switzerland? especially since they were sharing a room and bed
KTY: They were hiding and training…..? And probably watering the plant of love….?
Q: Do you think Beatrice would like Warrior nun?
KTY: I think Beatrice is more of a documentary type of person given the type of life she lives 😂
Q: do you think Sister Bea would drink alcohol again after that night?
KTY: Probably. We all do things we say we’ll never do again but surely enough give it a few months and here we are again 🥹
Q: What do you think is the first thing Beatrice will do after leaving the OCS?
KTY: Probably procure some clothes she likes
Q: If you given a chance to play any other character besides Beatrice from Warrior Nun who would it be ???
KTY: Lilith cause she’s a boss
Q: which warrior nun character are you most similar to
KTY: Probably a mashup of Ava and Beatrice
Q: Do you have any series and movie recommendations?
KTY: Guillermo de Toros cabinet of curiosities
Q: Have you added anything to the scenes or did you just follow the script?
KTY: We all discussed scenes at length and changed a bunch of stuff to some extent
Q: Was that Beatrice's first kiss?
KTY: Probably not but it’s the one that means the most
Q: can you confirm that bea sleeps on the right of the bed whilst ava sleeps on the left?
KTY: 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’d see bea sleeping on the side closer to the door.
Q: Any scene you shot that isn't in season 2 but you wish it was?
KTY: Nah they got them all
Q: do you plan on doing any other conventions in the future 👀
KTY: I’d love to
Q: What was it like working with Alba, especially in those moments when she has so much emotion in her eyes?
KTY: I mean she’s a great actress so it’s awesome to play off that 🎆
Q: Regarding the glowing divinium sword in the post-credit scene, what do you think that meant?
KTY: I just supposed it meant Ava was coming back, but we didn’t really discuss what it actually meant
Q: how was it filming during the lockdown?
KTY: Very very strange and stressful tbh
Q: Do you think that Beatrice taught Ava how to present herself as a leader amongst the OCS?
KTY: I’m sure they talked about it in Switzerland
Q: Are you big into reading or video games? If so what's been your favorites lately!
KTY: Little nightmares 2
Q: do you think Ava and Bea would often wait for each other after the day's work at the bar so they could walk home together? 👀
KTY: I can see that happening yeah
Q: how many seasons would you like warrior nun to have
KTY: As many as possible
Q: can u tell us the person responsable for the most bloopers??
KTY: We are all equally responsible 🫠
Q: what do you think is Beatrice's love language?
KTY: Quality time
Q: how long does it usually take to film a fight scene?
KTY: Depends on the fight scene. It wouldn’t be uncommon to spend 6 ish hours on one
Q: A lot thinks that the forehead kiss was an improvisation, was it?
KTY: I……think so…? I’m not sure
Q: NAUR you don't remember???
Tumblr media
KTY: BRO it just sort of happened ok it all happened real fast
Q: what is the biggest difficulty in being a warrior nun ?
KTY: The constant threat of death
Q: what was your reaction when you first read the script of the avatrice kissing scene?
KTY:
Tumblr media
Q: Do you think Bea always wanted to leave the OCS and everything that happened only served to motivate her to finally do it or did she leave to honor Ava's wish that she live her life?
KTY: I think she didn’t intend to ever leave, but her bubble has been popped by Ava so she realizes she can’t live there truthfully and honestly.
Q: now who do you think beatrice would be if she wasn’t a nun her aspirations and all that
KTY: Maybe she’d be a surgeon or engineer of some kind
Q: do you think bea knows ava is out there somewhere and will come back to her that's why she smiles in the last scene?
KTY: I dont think she knows for certain, but she knows she’s making the right decision for herself
Q: u ok here? LOL
Tumblr media
KTY: Yeah I like laying down on the ground
Q: What was the first feeling when you finished watching season 2? Say hello to Brazil, we love u 😭🇧🇷

KTY: Making sushi
Q: i think we need an answer to the biggest problem, how old is beatrice?? i say about 21
KTY: Probably closer to 24
Q: hii kris i was wondering if you would like to dye your hair different colors like pink, blue or green?
KTY: Ive had my hair all kinds of colors in the past already 😅
Q: do you know if we will ever get to see a blooper reel? 🥺
KTY: I don’t know if even I will ever see a blooper reel 😭
Q: did you or any of the cast take anything from set and if so what heheh?
KTY: 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
Q: as a viewer, do you also find reya sketchy?
KTY: Uh yeah mad shady
Q: you mentioned that there were some funny bloopers from season 1, including you crashing into an ArqTech wall. Any funny mishaps to report from season 2?
KTY: Some interesting acting while hanging from wires in the church. 😂
Q: how fun was it to play tranquilized?
KTY: It’s hard actually lmao
Q: thoughts on pineapples on pizza?
KTY: Whatever boats your goat 🤷🏻‍♀️
Q: Surfing or Mountain Climbing? choose one. 🤭
KTY: Shnurfing
Q: In your interviews you do a lot of face touching. How much of you bled into Bea with the way she has this instinct to hold people’s faces? And the way in which she touches Ava’s face with so much tenderness and softness? Was it on the page?
KTY: I think it’s kind of a me-ism. I touch my face when I’m nervous but I think for bea it means something else.
Q: which is your favorite: jealous beatrice or jealous ava?
KTY: Jealous Ava
Q: of all the locations you filmed in this season, which did you like the most and why?
KTY: Prado museum
Q: Who do you think cooked in their apartment Bea or Ava?
KTY: Probaby bea
Q: Everybody loved Bea's casual clothes. She seems more like herself and free. Could u talk about it? Did u help create her style?
KTY: Yeah I mean I had some say, but ultimately it was up to Christina the costume designer. It’ll be interesting to see how her style evolves 🤷🏻‍♀️
Q: how do we best convince non-believers (ppl who don't watch the show) to come over to our side?
KTY: I mean what do you lose by watching a show? Even if you don’t think you’ll like it just give it a try and then decide 🤞🏼
Q: Was there a lot that changed with the script because of Mary’s absence?
KTY: Yes there was. She was missed
Q: is this a reference to Ava being in the other side or you and alba are just being in a silly mood in the vid and the song is just a coincidence to Ava's fate? We really want to know (video)
KTY: It’s a total coincidence tbh lmao
Q: who is the best cook in the cast 🫣
KTY: I honestly think we’re all pretty good cooks!
Q: Beatrice walking around with her hands in her pockets....a comfort thing or a character choice?
KTY: Both. Also that way I don’t have to think about what to do with my hands.
Q: does ava make spectacular cuba libre or did bea just say it once out of pity and now ava won’t stop making her the worst cuba libre known for mankind
KTY: She probably makes a good cuba libre but the alternative theory is hilarious and I like it
Q: what type of fighting costume would you like to see beatrice in now since she left the ocs?
KTY: Honestly I’d want cool jackets and cargo pants with military vests and turtlenecks. But that’s just me🫠
Q: what is your favorite avatrice scene and /or line in s2?
KTY: I like the fight in the apartment
Q: Do you ever miss being on warrior nun set
KTY: Yeah all the time
Q: Do you think Beatrice still have hope that Ava will come back? and do u think she'll continue waiting for her?
KTY: I think she will wait in hope
Q: sock sock, shoe shoe or sock shoe, sock shoe?
KTY: Sock sock shoe shoe finish one thing before starting another otherwise I’ll get distracted and never get shoes on at all
Q: is bea a dog or cat person? / What about yourself? 😬
KTY: Cats probably 🤷🏻‍♀️ / Both tbh
Q: what was your reaction when you found out that avatrice will finally kiss this season?
KTY:
Tumblr media
Q: do you believe or wish there was a scene where beatrice comes out to her parents, regardless of their reaction?
KTY: Yeah that would be cool. I mean any scene where we’d get to see Bea’s parents and how that family interacts would be awesome.
Q: u have more action scenes where we can clearly see ur face and it's really amazing. did you have injuries shooting those scenes???
KTY: Noooo we were kept very safe by the stunt team 🙏
Q: how does your back feel from carrying all this promo?
KTY: Like I need a better chiropractor
Q: on a scale of 1-10, how satisfied are you with your performance this season?
KTY: Could always do better / The number would fluctuate too much so 🤷🏻‍♀️
Q: Do you think we will have more of Beatrice's back story in S3? possibly an encounter with her parents? Or do you think she has cut them out of her life?
KTY: I Hope we get more backstory! It would be so interesting to meet her parents. Tense scenes tho lmao
Q: what do you think was yasmine face during the avatrice kiss?
KTY:
Tumblr media
Q: Thoughts on Reya? 👀
KTY: Much suspicion much confusion
Q: Bea with an undercut, I see it
KTY: Fuck yes any excuse to have short hair tbh

Seventeens hair care routine
Dont ask me why i did this
Scoups
Simple shampoo and conditioner, nothing fancy, gets gifted to him by EVERYONE he knows after he said he used it once and he's now just trying to get rid of it at this point. Please stop he doesn't need anymore.
Jeonghan
No one knows. Refuses to tell anyone what it is. Stored in a super suspicious container that nobody has the guts to open, apart from Hoshi who did once and swore it was glowing. If you ask Jeonghan about it he'll be super cryptic with his answers. Its probably not legal.
Joshua
Whatever it is it smells heavenly.
Jun
Plain water. Sometimes adds something weird like butter or salt if he's feeling saucy.
Hoshi
Tiger themed. Found it in the kids section and complained to the manager that it was in the wrong place. Tigers obviously aren't meant for kids. Got kicked out so he has to order online now. Trying to get a brand deal with the company that made it.
Wonwoo
Did research to find out the prime amount of shampoo and conditioner to use. Measures it out before each shower. It probably either doesn't smell of anything or has the strong scent of antiseptic no in between.
Woozi
Debates shaving his head every single day. Why shower when he could be producing.
The8
Something very fancy. Entirely written in French so he doesn't actually know what it is. Just does it for the vibe.
Mingyu
Receives a mysterious bottle under his pillow every so often. Doesn't know where it comes from. Doesn't question it.
Dk
Has a weekly subscription and receives a new scent each week. Gets very excited. Asks everyone to sniff his hair and guess the smell. Only Hoshi does.
Seungkwan
Secret remedy passed through his family for generations. Insists its life changing. Is actually just head and shoulders.
Vernon
3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Dino
Gillette branded products. Not by choice. Somehow every time he buys something different, its mysteriously replaced by gillette again the next day. He's tried everything in hopes to find out who's behind it but every member denies having any involvement. Its now been 2 years and he's finally given up trying to fight it.
