fully believe sirius hated the nickname Siri for a number of reasons starting with ‘it sounds ridiculous’ and ending with ‘Reg used to call him that when they were kids’ and that’s why James always went for Si instead.
except, except no one accounted for tiny bite sized harry james potter wrapping his entire hand around Sirius’ pinky, going ‘Siwi, Siwi, Siwi, pway?’ and stealing his entire heart and soul in one fell swoop.
why was he ever even opposed to it anyway?

Hi! I'd love a touchy bestfriend! Sirius Black, where girl reader is cuddling with him on his bed, no bra, his shirt and biker shorts, and then the other Marauders walk in like "wtf?" I know, too specific, sorry. Hope you can do it!
thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
.
“Ugh, they are doing it again!”
You lifted your head from the book you were currently reading, finding James Potter standing at the end of the bed with his nose scrunched up as he took in the sight of you laying on his best friend’s bed. With said best friend currently lying on top of you with his head on your stomach, your shirt (or, really, his shirt) pushed up to expose your torso.
“Leave them alone,” Remus called out from his bed, his tone blunt and unbothered.
“Jealous I stole your boyfriend, Potter?” You teased, a shit-eating grin on your face.
“No,” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest but his eyes narrowed at the way the two of you were tangled up together. “You have your own room, you know.”
You raised your brows. “Is that your subtle way of trying to kick me out?”
Sirius let out a noise of disagreement. “She’s staying, Prongs, get over it.”
“It was more a subtle way of telling you both to take your weird, cuddly shit somewhere else so I don’t have to be affronted with it every time I come in,” James corrected.
“We are literally just chilling here,” you retorted.
“It’s basically foreplay,” James grumbled in response. “I cuddle with Pads all the time and we never have this much skin touching.”
You grinned. “You sound jealous again.”
“I am not jealous!” James huffed before turning to look at Remus for some help. “C’mon, back me up here, Moony.”
Remus turned to glance over at you and Sirius, his eyes darting over the way your bodies were entangled like you were one person. He noted the way Sirius’ nose brushed up and down your skin as he sunk further into your embrace, the way his hands were practically halfway up your shirt and definitely much higher than a friend’s should be. He noted the way your legs were wrapped around his body too, like you wanted to keep him close.
“Yeah, looks super platonic,” Remus deadpanned.
Sirius grunted, lifting his head to glare at his two friends. “You know, this was a lot more pleasing when neither of you were here.”
“Stop getting pissy because we are interupting your afternoon nap with the truth,” James snapped back at him, looking a little too smug when he noted the way Sirius’ cheeks flushed pink.
“Fuck off, Prongs,” Sirius huffed out before he nuzzled his face against your stomach once again. He let out a pleased noise when your hand for his hair, your nails lightly scratching along his scalp.
“We are just friends,” you said to James, but he heard it. He heard the hint in your voice. Maybe it was longing or something else.
But James had a feeling that his best friend wasn’t the only one hiding his feelings.

Your girl
Rockstar!Remus x reader
summary: Remus finds his girl in the backyard of a party, alone.
word count: 1.8k words
a/n I’m not satisfied with this but oh well!
The once bustling, loud, party now seems dimmer and less intense as he cautiously walks away into the silent of the night.  He can hear the wet asphalt crunch beneath his boots, the brushing of wind flowing past his ears. It’s quiet and calm the way it is after a rain, but something sticks in his tummy. A nerve, an upset, a fear, he might find his girl out here alone.
“Sweetheart?” His voice is louder than he intends in the quiet of this fancy backyard, and it has his nose wrinkling. “Y/N, honey, are you out here?” And god, he prays she isn’t. Alone. Tipsy drunk. He walks on.
The show before this had been loud and packed. A bustling crowd, bigger than they had anticipated.
He can’t pretend he hadn’t been aching to see her in the crowd, that sweet longing she pulled from him so many times before, but she hadn’t wanted to accept the tickets initially. Guilt gnawed at her for not paying the 429 pounds other floor guests fought for. But, as Remus had said, special tickets for a special girl.
Here now, he feels the same ache he felt when he couldn’t find her in the crowd. Sick and pounding as he turns the twists and winds of a path through the tall gaudy flowers and statues. It’s a nightmare, really, but finding her on the floor, in her white sundress, unbothered by the way the wet floor stains into the pearly cloth, is even more so.
“What are you doing out here, honey?”
The party grows louder and Remus prays they don’t bring it outside. It’s private out here and Remus likes that. Quiet of the eyes of fans he’s collected over his hard work and music, private of Sirius who dragged his friends to this after party, and James who’d surely tease.
She turns, startled at the intrusion, her head spins. Was she supposed to be dizzy whilst sitting? “Doesn’t it just taste fresh out here?”
He inhales deeply, playing along, though it really does taste fresher out here. “I guess it does.” He takes a moment. The air between them is quiet again. “You’ll stain your pretty dress.”
She shrugs. He’ll just give her his jacket anyways. “Tired, my feet hurt, want another drink.”
He laughs. “In that order?”
“Tired, cause my feet hurt, ‘nother drink, cause it’ll fix it.” She fixes. He grunts as he sets himself in front of her. She can’t admit how happy this makes her. He takes her arms in his hands. “Liked your set.”
“Yeah?” He tilts his head. His thumbs press right below the crease of her elbows. It has her greedy, selfish for more. She wants more.
“Yeah. You looked hot onstage.”
He laughs a startled laugh, it’s slightly disheveled, but the fact that she made him smile is an accomplishment in itself she thinks. “Thank you.” She looks down at where his fingertips dance over her outstretched arms lightly. Up and down, he traces patterns into her skin.
“Feels good.” She mumbles.
“I know. Lets get you inside, yeah?” He pauses his ministrations on her arm. “Lily was worried sick when she couldn’t find you.”
Lily wasn’t the first to notice she’d been missing, but Remus can’t bare to tell her he’d been looking for her in a group of people practically begging to get a word in to him.
She grabs his wrist, slightly pushing him to keep his gentle rubbing. “You weren’t?”
“Darling, you know I was the most worried.” It’s true.
“Wanna stay out here.” She breathes, almost ignoring his dangerously romantic profession.
“Why?”
“S’nice.” Not because this is the first time she’s been alone with him in weeks. Not because when she’s around him it gives her the biggest head rush she’s ever experienced. It mixes with the alcohol and she can’t tell which is which. Is it the tequila shots Mary coaxed her into doing, or is it the 6’3 bassist crouched in front of her like a giant trying to befriend human?
He sighs, shrugging off his jacket. “Can’t let my girl freeze to death.”
And the thing about it is, it’s so simple to say what you want when you’re not thinking about it. Right? Cause if he had caught himself, If he had thought before his word choice, he wouldn’t have let that Freudian slip, slip.
Her face does something funny as he helps her arms through the arm holes.
“What’s it?” His eyebrow cocks.
“Your girl?”
He scoffs out a disbelieved laugh. “Oh, that you pick up?” He stands up, unable to look at his jeans in fear of the grass stains he’d see on them. She might have his jacket but he surely doesn’t. “Up, lets get you inside.”
She doesn’t give him her hands. “Your girl, Rem?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” He gruffs, shaking his hands a little, hoping she’ll catch the memo and use his weight to pull herself up. Except she doesn’t. She grins this big dopey smile, eyes crinkling as she hides her alcohol pink cheeks from Remus.
“Wanted to be your girl.”
He feels as if his brain has lagged. “You are my girl, gorgeous.”
Her chest feels tight with an emotion only he can pull from her. “Am I?”
“Why’d you think I’ve been calling you every night for months?”
“Thought you wanted someone to flirt with.”
“Babe,” he frowns at the admission as he crouches down again, “I’ve been flirting with you because you’re my girl.”
“Oh.”
His chest cracks a little. His warm dry hands find their way to her cold cheeks, they’re worn and rough from his bass. “What made you think that?”
“I dunno.” She trails off.
“You didn’t come to that conclusion by yourself.” He shakes his head and she shrugs. “Tell me when you’re sober. Though I fear you’d be more honest with me now.”
“Mary said something,” she starts, before pausing, letting him use his weight to pull her off the ground. “She said ‘if a boy likes you, you know.’ And I could never tell with you.”
“You couldn’t tell?”
She huffs a laugh, dramatically putting her body weight on him, hugging his chilly torso. “You’re kinda hard to read, Rem.”
He stands there as she nuzzles her cheek in his chest. His hands splay on her back and he feels her smile. “We can talk more about this tomorrow.” She nods. She revels in the newness of this level of affection.
“Can I show you a patch of flowers I saw when I fell earlier?” Her head tilts up to look at him.
“You fell?!”

Brother’s Best Friend
Sirius Black x reader
In which Sirius Black finds comfort in the person he least expects.
Tumblr media
The same day that Sirius Black realized his parents were Slytherins was the same day that Sirius had sworn off all Slytherins forever. It started off as a childish thing, a one-sided, unspoken attempt to get back at his parents for all of their strict rules and exaggerated lectures about the importance of his pure-blood ancestry.
When he met James Potter on his first train ride to Hogwarts, the resentment towards Slytherins grew into a shared inside joke. Something that the two of them could continuously throw around. Never mind that James Potter was from a pure-blood family as well. The joke was just another feeble attempt to get back at his parents.
And then, he met Severus Snape. And then, he met the insults and snide remarks of his Slytherin classmates. And then, he had finally decided: there was no good that came out of Slytherin.
So it’s no surprise that when his little brother, Regulus, was sorted into Slytherin a year later, Sirius was devastated. Sirius was silent during the entirety of dinner and even remained silent as he arrived in his dorm. The other boys tried not to disturb him, but they had never seen him so quiet before, and it was starting to disturb them.
“Some evening,” Peter said awkwardly, a yawn emerging from him. Remus gave him a strict look before turning his attention back to Sirius, worry evident on his face.
The silence only seemed to grow thicker until finally Sirius sighed and his words rushed out, eager for release.
“I thought he was different. This whole time I thought he wasn’t like them,” Sirius began.
“I mean yeah, Slytherins can be awful, but he’s your brother,” James replied, attempting to soothe his best friend.
“Very insightful, James,” Remus said sarcastically from his side of the dorm. He leaned back against his bed frame. “But I agree. He’s your brother. You know him.”
“I don’t think I do anymore,” he replied solemnly, his eyes sullen yet harsh.
“Don’t be like that, Sirius,” said Remus, “just talk to him.”
Sirius doesn’t talk to him the next day. Or the rest of the year for that matter. He says what he has to during the summer but when school starts, he goes back to ignoring him.
It’s not easy to pretend that Regulus doesn’t exist. He started to play quidditch. He is one of the smartest in his year. And he’s always seen with a Slytherin girl that is in Sirius’ potions class. She’s reserved and intelligent. She seems polite enough. She talks with Lily Evans. She’s even pretty. But she’s also a Slytherin and Sirius believes that’s a good enough reason not to trust her.
She’s always with Regulus. They sit together in the Great Hall. They walk in the corridors together. Sirius spots her one day leaning against Regulus’ shoulder, laughing loudly at something he said. Sirius resents her for it. He hates her for knowing Regulus.
Later that day, Sirius is walking into Potions class when he spots her talking with Lily Evans. He tries to walk past unbothered, but then he hears her mention Regulus’ name.
“Regulus and I have a bet,” she says with a laugh. Sirius tries to ignore how sweet her laugh sounds.
“Is that right?” Lily chuckles and shakes her head.
“He’s the best seeker that’s ever been. Write it down. This Saturday. You’ll see.”
“He really doesn’t think he’ll catch the snitch?” Lily wonders curiously.
The girl responds back with a small pout. “He doubts himself a lot. I hate it. But I’ll win the bet, and he’ll see.”
Sirius rolls his eyes and continues walking. What does she know? Regulus is his brother after all.
Their conversation leaves him with an irritation that follows him the rest of the day and a worry that maybe he doesn’t know his brother anymore. James has tried cheering him up, but Sirius continues his sulking all day. He hardly eats anything when they sit down in the Great Hall. He goes to bed as soon as they make their way to the dorms. No one bothers him.
The next morning, the marauders don’t even have to ask Sirius what’s wrong. He wakes up determined and explains the whole situation to them.
“He doubts himself sometimes. I hate it,” Sirius says, mocking the girl as his story comes to an end. He shakes his head furiously.
“Are you talking about y/n?” asks Remus.
“Y/n? I don’t even know who that is. Did you hear anything that I even said?” Sirius looks as if Remus has just deeply betrayed him.
“The girl you keep complaining about. She’s Lily’s partner in potions,” says Remus as if this is common knowledge.
“A friend of Lily’s is a friend of mine,” says James, a teasing smile on his face.
Sirius thinks that maybe, given a different circumstance, he might have laughed. But James is supposed to always be on his side, so he makes a face of disgust instead. “You too? Peter?”
“She’s quite pretty,” He responds with a shrug of his shoulders.
“She’s a Slytherin,” Sirius mutters, but it’s loud enough for the rest of them to catch it.
“Really?” Remus rolls his eyes, “I thought we were past all of the house prejudice or whatever you’d like to call it.”
“That’s not why I don’t like her,” Sirius lies, quickly defending himself. He pauses as he struggles to come up with another valid reason. He continues on anyway, “she’s very… assuming. How can she possibly know how Regulus feels? I’m his brother. If anyone knows him it’s me.”
The three of the boys share a knowing look.
“Sirius,” Peter speaks up hesitantly “when’s the last time you even spoke to Regulus?”
Sirius isn’t sure why that question hits him as hard as it does, but it hurts. Surely it wasn’t that long ago. They spoke a little during last summer whenever he wasn’t at James’ house…
Sirius decides that he doesn’t owe any of them an explanation. He stands up quickly and mutters a faint, “excuse me.”
Sirius’ urge to run away leads him to the front of Hogwarts’ entrance. He finds it ironic that the first thing he notices as he exits Hogwarts’ front doors is the Slytherin girl, or Y/n as she sits alone near the Great Lake.
Sirius had no time to think about the reckless act he was about to make. He was fueled by the anger of Peter’s question and the fact that he really didn’t know when the last time he had spoken to his brother was. He figured the only obvious option was to blame her. The girl with soft eyes and a determined expression. The girl sitting with her back against the tree, seeming not to notice the ruckus of the other students around her, not even noticing Sirius’ haste steps towards her as she stares into her book.
“Y/n, is it?” he says finally as he comes to an abrupt stop in front of her. In a quick second, her eyebrows furrow and her gaze is on him. Her eyes even widen a little bit.
She takes a few seconds to respond, and in all of those few seconds, Sirius can feel himself growing impatient. Before she can even finish saying yes, Sirius cuts her off.
“It’s a bit cold out here to be reading don’t you think?” his tone is harsh.
“What?” she replies confused, and Sirius almost feels bad. Almost.
“It’s just that it’s cold, and you’re not even wearing a jacket and…” Sirius’ voice begins to falter. His pride doesn’t let him stop. “I’m Regulus’ brother.”
She nods. “I know that,” she says sharply.
Sirius is immediately taken aback.
“Fine. Who are you anyway, his girlfriend or something?” he replies back with the same sharpness in his tone.
She laughs loudly enough to surprise him. He looks at her in confusion, and she shakes her head. “Who are you to ask something like that? You won’t even look at him.”
Sirius tries not to let that hurt him, but it does. “I’m his brother.” He keeps saying this. He’s hoping that after saying it enough times this simple fact will make up for everything else.
“No. I’m not his girlfriend,” she replies.
“You just seem to always be with him,” Sirius presses on, and he knows he shouldn’t, but some pathetic part of him feels like by talking to her, he’s kind of talking to Regulus.
“He’s my best friend.” With those simple words, Sirius has the daunting feeling that he has completely lost his brother. He doesn’t say anything for a few seconds, and Y/n just stares up at him curiously.
“Why are you speaking to me, Sirius?” she asks after moments of silence.
“I don’t know,” he admits because isn’t it just the truth? He doesn’t know.
Y/n continues to stare at him, and it kind of annoys Sirius until she finally says, in a calm voice, “Talk to him before the match tomorrow.”
Sirius doesn’t really understand, but before he can ask, she’s adding on.
“ ‘Good luck’ or ‘you’re going down’ I don’t care what it is. Talk to him.” And with that, she goes back to her book.
Sirius is going to talk to him. The game is about to start, and Regulus is right there. He’s going to talk to him any minute now…
Regulus is already focused on the game. Most people have a hard time understanding Regulus, but to Sirius it comes naturally. He can see the way worry flickers across his face before immediately being pushed away. He feels the urge to reach out, to comfort him. And now he understands why Y/n had asked him to say something; he understands her conversation with Lily.
The whistle blows and Regulus is about to fly when Sirius blurts it out.
“Good luck,” he says to Regulus. Regulus is undoubtedly surprised. His eyebrows raise, and he’s quiet for a few seconds.
Then, he simply nods, “Sure, you too.”
Regulus doesn’t sound bitter. The interaction between them almost feels natural. Sirius smiles lightly. Although, it doesn’t take long for the brief happiness to subside into a feeling of guilt. He spent so much time resenting his brother for something outside of his control. He has a sinking feeling that he was wrong.
He tries to find Y/n in the stands, and when he does he breathes in sharply at the sight. She is smiling so brightly that he finds it difficult to look away. He hates to admit it, but he thinks he might have been wrong about her too.

Every five years, the Triwizard Tournament is held, and you were utterly thrilled at the prospect of getting to experience it twice, after having experienced it during your first year at Hogwarts. You were already looking forward to it and chatted away on the Hogwarts Express.
Remus wasn’t really listening while you gushed about meeting the people from different schools. He was rather busy going through the material of DADA. You wished you had his determination and self-discipline.
Sirius was scribbling away on a piece of paper, and you would almost think that he was following Remus’ example of being a model student, if you hadn’t already seen that he was meticulously planning out a few pranks.
Well, it didn’t really matter who listened to you anyway, because you were just so excited that you rambled on to get it out of your system and didn’t require much beside the occasional hum or nod.
This was exactly what James was doing right now. He was way too caught up in admiring the glitters that you had sprayed on your hair this morning and was unconsciously drawing circular patterns on your hip with the arm that was slung around you.
“Do you think we’ll have a Yule ball this year?” You continued. “Well, they only hold the Yule ball every 4 years, but it’s been a while since the Triwizard Tournament and the Yule ball lined up together, isn’t it?” You looked up at James whose attention had moved to focus on your face and were met with a soft kiss to the corner of your lips. You smiled in the kiss when James’ lips travelled to meet yours properly.
“Really Prongs?” Sirius snorted. “You’re really doing it in front of all of us?”
James pointedly ignored him and instead tried to pull you a little bit closer. Not that that was possible because you were already joined to the hip and leaning into him.
“Oh, now you’re just doing it on purpose,” Sirius complained, and you would imagine the grimace on his face if you weren’t too preoccupied with James, who was leaving small pecks against your lips.
“Don’t like what you see, look away,” James murmured against you, but loud enough for Sirius to hear.
“Sod off Potter, I would look away from you getting all chummy with our Y/N, but you’re kind of right in my sight,” Sirius huffed dramatically, and he slumped against Remus. You softly pushed James away and offered Sirius a sheepish look.
“Sorry,” you grinned unapologetically.
Sirius waved you off. “Yeah, yeah, how would you feel if I start snogging with someone, right in front of you,” he sarcastically retorted. Remus gave him an unimpressed look.
“Well, what if it was our mutually best friend?” Sirius tried to correct himself. Remus shook his head amusedly. “Go sleep, Padfoot,” he sighed.
You sniffed and nudged James. “You have any tissues?”
“Why did you forget to bring any?” He clicked his tongue. “I vaguely remember to tell you not to forget them when you’re in the middle of a cold?” He teased. You stuck your tongue out. “I’m only sick because of your kisses in the first place.”
“And I’m making up for it by giving you this incredibly soft and sweet scented tissue,” James winked. You snorted and accepted the tissue, snatching it away.
“Ah. What a great boyfriend I am,” James mused out loud to himself. “Lucky for you that I don’t forget things when it comes to you,” he flirted, and you playfully kicked his foot.

Evan’s busy reaching across the bar for a couple of drinks, arm outstretched and easy smile on his face, when Regulus walks up next to him.
“Two butterbeers, please,” Regulus nods to the bartender.
Evan turns his head in surprise, clearly not expecting to have been followed. “I was getting you guys drinks, you know. You didn’t have to get up.”
“Yeah, I know. But I needed a bit of a break from all… that.” Regulus tilts his head towards a booth in the corner, indicating the chaos currently taking place there. He’s just escaped the aftermath of Barty attempting to flirt with Remus just to make Sirius mad, which has not ended well. Just like Barty intended. Honestly, Regulus doesn’t know why he puts up with him.
Regulus opens his mouth to continue, feeling somewhat hesitant. He’s not sure how Evan will react to what he’s about say, but he’s going to try anyways. “And also because I wanted to ask you something in private. Or at least, away from them.”
“Hold on,” Evan replies. The bartender’s just handed him his drinks, and he’s trying to find a way to carry them. “Okay, carry on.”
Regulus doesn’t waste any time. “You’re in love with Barty.”
Evan doesn’t look up from the drinks, not giving Regulus’s accusation even a slight reaction. “That wasn’t much of a question, Reg.”
If Regulus didn’t know better, he’d say Evan was completely unbothered by this whole situation. But he does know better, and Evan’s completely straight face as he fiddles with the glasses is a dead giveaway.
“You’re not going to deny it?” He’s genuinely curious. It’s unlike Evan to not, at the very least, try to avoid answering directly.
“Why would I? It’s the truth, and I know you’re not going to tell him.”
“But you’re not really the type of person to be okay with… sharing this sort of thing.”
Evan looks up now, small smile making its way to his face. “No, I’m usually not. But honestly it’s been going on so long that it’s more trouble than it’s worth to keep it hidden. From you, at least.”
“I—” he pauses, not entirely sure what to do with that. “How long has this been a thing?”
“Oh, about…” Evan squints, as if he can look back in time and pinpoint the exact moment it started. “Five years now?”
“Five years?”
“Don’t sound so surprised, Reg.”
“Why shouldn’t I?”
“Because it’s really not that out of character for me.”
Evan flashes another smile and makes to leave, but Regulus blurts out, “Why haven’t you done anything about it? If it’s been so long?”
Evan glances over at their booth. Regulus follows his gaze, where Barty is now gesturing wildly with his hands in what is probably an attempt to avoid death at Sirius’s hands.
“Because,” Evan says, still looking at Barty, “it would ruin our relationship.”
He sounds so resigned to the fact that Regulus’s heart clenches. He feels like a bad friend. He had no idea, absolutely none, that Evan had been feeling this way for such a long time. “You can’t know that.”
Evan looks back at him, amused expression on his face as he asks, “Can’t I? It’s Barty; even if he did feel the same way—which he doesn’t—he would never be able to let himself commit to a relationship. The fear and discomfort would eat him alive. You know that.”
Regulus does, in fact, know that. But it doesn’t stop him from wanting to fix this, somehow. From wanting to try to get Evan to fight for a chance, at the very least. “But you’re Evan. There used to be be bets about when you guys would finally sort out your shit and start going out.”
Evan blinks, clearly not having known that.
“And it wasn’t because people knew you were in love with him—hell, I didn’t even know that—it was because of the way you both look at and act around each other. And I know that you’re too smart to have not noticed any of that, Evan.”
“Well. Maybe. But that’s also just who he is. He looks at practically everyone like that, acts like that with everyone. So you can stand there and tell me that I’m special, but I’m always going to see that for what it is. A lie, Regulus. And I don’t need you to lie to me. This whole thing is already bad enough already, I don’t need you adding to it, too.”
“But—”
“Don’t, Regulus. Just don’t.”
Regulus changes tactics. “How can you stand it?”
Evan gives a sad smile. “Like you said; I’m Evan. I’m always going to be in love with him, no matter what he does, really. And he’s Barty, so he’s going to do a lot of shit. But that’s just the way things are, I suppose.”
“So you’re just going to let him shatter your heart and stomp all over it?”
Evan smiles bitterly. “He’s been doing that for years, Reg. You’re a bit late to the game.”
Regulus hates this, hates Evan’s defeated tone and tired eyes. “How are you just so calm about this? Don’t you hate it?”
Evan considers that. “I did, for a while. I spent a long, long time hating it. But it only cost me energy I couldn’t afford to lose, and it didn’t change anything in the end.”
And there’s not a lot Regulus can say in response to that, so instead he eyes Evan: the regretful smile, the sad slump of his shoulders, and the way his body is subconsciously turned towards Barty, even now. “Are you… going to be okay?”
“Of course, Reg, why would you even ask?” He smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “This is just the hand life has dealt me. I’m used to it by now. You might as well get used to it, too. Nothing’s going to change between Barty and me.”
And with that, he shoulders past Regulus, drinks in hand. And Regulus watches him go, unable to unsee how painfully in love Evan is. He watches the way Barty’s entire face lights up when he sees Evan, he watches the soft smile Evan gives Barty in return, and he prays to anyone who’s listening that Evan will turn out to be wrong.

Reminiscing
~
"Okay, this one."
Lily's irate frustration was a nearly tangible crackle in the perfumed air of the boutique. Draco glanced up over the rim of his spectacles.
"Absolutely not," he said calmly.
Lily's fists balled up in the skirt of the slinky, forest green dress she wore. Thousands of shimmery little beads were sewn into the light, clingy fabric. The slit ran all the way up to mid-thigh and the halterneck straps were beaded strings.
"Why." Lily's question sounded from between grit teeth.
"Turn around," Draco said flatly.
A moment of hesitation, and then Lily spun around to reveal her back, exposed from neck to tail bone.
"Absolutely not," repeated Draco, looking back down into his phone, typing out an email with one forefinger, painstakingly slow.
"It's a dress. You want me to buy a dress. This is a dress."
"I want you to be respectably dressed for your seventeenth birthday party," Draco replied without looking up. "You're coming of age, yes, but you will do so whilst dressed as you ought to be."
"As I ought to be," Lily repeated scornfully.
"As a Potter-Malfoy ought to be."
"Why can't a Potter-Malfoy wear something like this?"
"We don't go out in public half-naked."
"This is a floor length gown."
"The whole length of your left leg is on display, as is the entirety of your back." Draco glanced up once more. "Your whole back. You're practically naked."
Lily"s clenched jaw shifted as she gnashed her teeth some more. With forced calm, she said, "Papa, I do not want to be wearing some sort of Victorian ballgown for my seventeenth birthday party."
"More's the pity. But no, definitely not this one either."
"I can wear a jacket over it." Lily raised one eyebrow when Draco looked up again. "I want a leather jacket."
Draco snorted, shaking his head. "I don't think so."
"Dad said I could get one."
"Your dad is an idiot."
"I want one like his."
"Absolutely not. He's a lunatic with a flying motorcycle. You don't want everything he has, trust me."
"It's just a bloody leather jacket, Papa, please!" Lily actually stomped one booted foot, her voice rising shrilly.
"I'm used to strops, darling, I invented them," Draco said, completely unbothered. "Besides, what would your grandmother say. She would faint."
"She told me to get the jacket in black." When Draco looked up in genuine surprise, Lily went on, "She said black would go best with her opal earrings that she's having reset in silver for my birthday present."
Draco stared at her over his spectacles as she stood glaring back at him, hands on her hips.
Then the bell above the door tinkled merrily, and Harry's voice filled the silence of the stylish little boutique as he exchanged cheerful pleasantries with the owner.
Reaching breaking point, Lily shrieked, "DAD!"
"I will not tolerate that sort of screaming in a public--," Draco started.
"Green, eh?" Harry said, walking into the private area Draco had reserved for the afternoon, his own boots loud on the wooden flooring.
"Because I have your eyes," Lily said in her most honeyed voice. "Grandma's eyes."
"Good choice, Lils," Harry said affectionately, sitting down on the plush sofa next to Draco before carefully picking through the collection of truffles set out in little crystal bowls.
"You haven't looked at the dress very closely," Draco said, voice tight.
"Oh?" Harry popped a hazelnut truffle into his mouth, straightened his glasses a bit, and leaned back, crossing ankle over knee. "Let me do that, then." A pause, and then, "She looks great!"
Draco twirled one forefinger through the air, motioning for Lily to spin. "She's half-naked."
"It's the trend now or something," Harry said, shrugging and scratching carelessly through his beard.
"I want to wear it with a leather jacket, Dad," Lily said hastily. "A black leather jacket. One like yours."
Harry grinned, roughing up his hair as was his wont. "Like Sirius'. Yeah, why not? Let's get you one."
"Harry."
Draco's lips were very thin as he pulled off his glasses and turned the full force of his displeasure onto Harry.
"Don't," said Harry. "We said she could pick her own outfit."
"The Minister's going to be at the party," Draco said tightly.
"Doubt he cares, honestly," Harry said, eating more chocolate. "Besides, it's Lily's day."
"I don't like to be ganged up against," Draco said, teeth gleaming white on a forced, very dangerous smile.
"Babe, we're not ganging up--," Harry started.
"Where is James?" Draco said suddenly, raising his voice over Harry's.
"My ears are burning," James drawled, sauntering in. Draco turned in his seat to look at him, his mouth slightly open.
James' hair was a bright, lemon yellow where it stood in a carefully styled, vertical mass on his head. The sides had been shaved down close to the scalp and dyed green.
Draco could only splutter in apoplectic dismay at the sight.
"What are you supposed to look like?!" he finally managed to ask.
James shrugged, scratching behind one pierced ear. "Dad thinks it looks cool."
Draco whirled around in his seat, now glaring violently at Harry. "He was supposed to get a haircut that's also suitable for school."
"He's still on summer break," Harry said.
"His head looks like a bloody sunflower!" Draco said. "Harry, you had one job--"
But Lily was now cackling loudly at James, who in turn stood grinning proudly, hands in his pockets, fourteen years old and sincerely unbothered about a single opinion that wasn't his own. Harry couldn't help grinning, too, but he quickly moved closer to Draco and took one of his hands with both his own.
"Babe, we've talked about this," he murmured gently. "This is one of those times you need to let go. Remember how we talked about letting go?"
"She's seventeen, and he looks someone cracked an egg on his head," Draco seethed.
Harry leaned forward and kissed him squarely on the mouth.
"How about lunch at the Ritz?" he asked gently.
"And then we buy me a black leather jacket," Lily said, hitching up the skirt of her dress and stomping loudly back to the changing room.
"Life was easier when I was seventeen," Draco muttered darkly, glaring at where their son was inspecting a rack of dinner jakcets.
Harry grinned again. "Yeah. A war, a megalomaniac. I really miss those days."

— sour wolf
remus lupin x reader
platonic!sirius black x reader
where sirius asked you to do his makeup and remus got jealous
a/n: fluffy, remus my love. If y’all have anything specific you want to read, I’ll take requests!
“And before you put on the eye shadow, you do the mascara first,” you explained to Sirius, who sat in front of you.
You weren’t that experienced with makeup but when Sirius commented how cool it would be to wear it, you couldn’t resist offering to teach him what little you knew.
“Why?” Sirius asked with furrowed brows, his eyes bright with interest.
You gestured for him to look up so you could do the mascara. “It’s different for everyone but I do it first cause if you mess up its easier to clean.”
Sirius smiled slightly looking up at his dorm ceiling, “I think I’m going to have to do that too.”
You shook your head a little, “it’s just till you get used to it,” you said softly putting the mascara away, now finished.
He licked his lips and avoided your eyes, “do you think I could borrow it sometimes?”
You smiled, nodding your head grabbing the eyelash curler, “yeah, these are for you, what are you talking about?”
Sirius widened his eyes in disbelief, “wait really?” You nodded your head and he barked a laugh. “But what about you? Aren’t these yours?”
You giggled grabbing his face and starting to curl his lashes, “I have more in my dorm, I’m just giving you these.”
“What would I do without a friend like you?” Sirius asked, laughs escaping his lips.
You grabbed your eyeshadow palette and faced him, “not have makeup, now what color?”
Sirius pursed his lips for a moment, looking at all the colors before pointing at a dark red one. “That one, I like that one.”
You sighed with a smile, “you really are a Gryffindor, close your eyes.”
Sirius smiled and tucked his long black hair behind his pierced ears. “That’s where I got placed, darling.”
You both laughed loudly at that, Sirius’s laugh sounding more like a bark.
“Don’t call me that, you flirt!”
Sirius shook his head and was about to say something else when the door opened rather roughly revealing your beloved boyfriend, Remus Lupin.
“Oh, don’t mind me, go back to flirting with each other.” He stormed to his bed and sat down on it, taking off his shoes.
You and Sirius gave each other a wide eyed look and faced Remus once again.
“Oi, whats got in your pants Moony boy?” Sirius exclaimed closing his eyes so you could finish his other eye.
Remus didn’t even turn around, “shut up, Sirius.”
“Don’t be such a sour wolf rem,” you sighed out, distracted on doing Sirius’ eye shadow.
Remus laid out on his bed and snatched his book. “M’ not a sour wolf.” He said grumpily.
“he’s just mad cause I’m hanging out with his darling, instead of him hanging with you, eh Remus?” Sirius called out looking in the mirror studying his makeup.
Remus glared at Sirius and you took that as a sign to get him out of the room before Sirius said anything else.
“Sirius, you want some lipstick?” You asked showing him the two that you brought. “Maroon or lipgloss?”
Sirius hummed and tilted his head, “I dunno, what’d ya think Moony?”
Remus glanced up annoyed, “get out, Sirius.”
Sirius simply nodded unbothered, “maroon it is, your so helpful Moony boy.”
You glanced at Remus to see him rolling his eyes and put the lipstick on his lips. “And now rub them… and your done!”
Sirius looked at himself in the mirror and smiled happily. “It’s perfect! You’re a doll!” He blew a kiss in your direction before running out the room, presumably going to the common room to show James his makeup.
You looked towards Remus to see him actively avoiding your gaze and sighed.
You left the makeup there for Sirius and walked to his bed. “Remus?”
The boy simply turned to the next page, ignoring as you climbed on the bed. “Reeemus?” You sang softly.
“What?” He asked, firmly keeping his eyes away from you. He would immediately cave if he did, how could he ever ignore someone with eyes like yours?
You leaned over him, “are you jealous?” You tilted your head, a strand your hair falling in your face.
“No,” he put down his book and played with your hair instead of looking in your eyes.
You lowered your head to meet his eyes, lips pulling to a grin that had him wanting to kiss you. “Remus?”
He sighed and stared up at you, “yes, dove?”
At the nickname you beamed and straddled his waist, leaning fully on his chest. “missed you today.”
Remus placed his big hands on the small of your back. “yea? Probably would’ve seen me sooner if you weren’t with Sirius.”
You scoffed and ran a hand over his neck, “you know Sirius would get with James before he got with me.”
Remus huffed a short laugh and ran a hand over your head. “You’re completely right, dovey.”
You sat up a little and caressed his face in between your hands. How was it that he was so breathtaking? Every time you looked at him, there was a pang in your chest, yelling at you to go to him.
You weren’t clingy with anyone, you couldn’t really hug any one without it being awkward on your end but with Remus it was different. You could spend all day in his long arms and never want to leave.
“Then why’d you get jealous?” You asked, lips hovering over his.
Remus stared at your lips. “What’d you mean? I didn’t get jealous.”
“Oh you didn’t?” You raised your eyebrows and moved your head slightly, Remus followed the movement and shook his head.
“It was an act.”
You hummed sarcastically, “oh it was?”
He licked his lips and put a hand on your chin, “it was just to get Sirius out of here, wanna have you all to m’self, dovey.”
You smiled and finally kissed him, lips together as if they were made for each other. Moving rather slow but passionate.
“I love you, grumpy.” You whispered in between kisses and he huffed a small laugh.
“m’ not grumpy.”
“Whatever you say, rem.”

you did this one drabble about remus seeing readers scars for the first time almost a year ago and i was wondering if you could so the same or similar with sirius seeing readers love your work so much
ty babe!
cw past self harm implied (no graphic details)
Sirius has really nice hair. Like, really nice. It's fine but he has a lot of it, a dark brown that looks glossy in the sun. Soft between your fingers. Sirius tilts his head to the side to allow you a better angle.
You're hip to hip at the bottom of the decking in his garden. It overlooks the end of their garden where Remus plants his flowerbeds and James' failing (but looked after) greenhouse soaks up the sun. Sirius isn't as outdoorsy as the other two, but he likes to tan, so you've agreed to come and bask in the heat with him for an hour.
"Do you think I should water his flowers? He's been sleeping all day," Sirius says.
"I'm not sure about that one, my love," you say softly. "Doesn't he do it every other day?"
Sirius takes your hand and holds it in his lap. "Yeah, but it's very hot out, I'm not sure the flowers are used to this, they've been growing slowly in the British summer, which is to say, they haven't been growing…" He transfers your hand from his right to his left, turning your arm in the sun.
You've had them for so long that you genuinely forget that they're there. If you'd remembered, maybe you could have warned him.
"Sweetheart, what are these?" he asks, rubbing his thumb over the lightened lines of your scars. They aren't glaringly obvious but the sun has made them easier to see, as does his pushing up your skin. "Lovely…"
You're not sure what to say. It's embarrassing, it isn't. They're ugly and they're not. "They're really old," you settle on.
He looks up from your arm. Sirius often seems like he knows everything in that smug but subtle way, grey eyes unbothered, almost impassive; seeing him now with a frown that borders on scared is unsettling.
"How old were you?" he asks.
"Don't worry about it. I forget that I have them, most of the time. I wish you hadn't seen them, I know it's awkward."
"I don't think awkward is the word I'd choose." Sirius wraps an arm behind your back, his skin warm to the touch, the mild smell of his aftershave tickling your nose as he pulls you close. "Well, you know every bit of you is my favourite–"
"Sirius," you chide fondly.
"–no matter what happened before. Do I– uh, do I have to worry? Because I'll worry, I don't mind worrying," he says, forcing your shoulder into his chest.
It feels nice, if bittersweet, to have someone care about it after it's already been done. "You don't have to worry," you promise.
"I'm sorry–"
"Please don't, Sirius. It was just something I did, it was hard," you say, your heart like a twist in your chest, "you know how it feels, right? You're just trapped, and I didn't know how to deal with it." You say it in a rush, the shame of your admission mixed with a desperate want to be seen.
Sirius understands what it's like to feel trapped. "I get it." You turn your face toward his shoulder as a cloud moves and the sun burns your eyes. Sirius ducks down with you, his voice a murmur, "I know things are new between us, but this doesn't change anything? Okay? Just makes me wish I'd met you sooner."

Hey! Maybe you could write Remus Lupin x Fem Reader seven minutes in heaven fluff;)
a/n: This is the longest work i've ever written, so I hope you enjoy it! Very special thanks to @lilmaymayy for betaing this 🫶
word count: 7.2k
seven minutes to forever
Tumblr media
The Gryffindor common room was ablaze with excitement as the Gryffindors celebrated their recent Quidditch victory against Slytherin. Waterloo by ABBA blared from the record player—courtesy of your best friend, Lily Evans. There were streamers of red and gold, along with a large banner with the words Gryffindor painted in red. There was a large table with sandwiches, cakes, pasties, and Honeydukes sweets, as well as a huge bowl of very suspicious-looking punch along with bottles of butterbeer and firewhiskey scattered around.
James Potter, the star Quidditch captain, was being hoisted onto the shoulders of his teammates as they chanted his name. Among the crowd, you spotted Sirius Black doing a little victory dance, while Peter Pettigrew was enthusiastically shovelling food onto his plate, and Remus Lupin was leaning against the wall with a small smile on his face, clearly enjoying the sight of his friends.
You turned your attention back to your friends, who danced along to the beat of the song. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight of your friends enjoying the night.
“Having fun, Y/n/n?” Lily asked as she twirled around.
“I am,” you chuckled, swaying your hips to the beat.
“You’re rocking that skirt, Y/n.” Marlene complimented.
You playfully rolled your eyes as you tugged on your skirt, still wondering how you ended up being coerced into wearing a form-fitting black leather skirt from Mary’s closet. “It’s awfully short, and it keeps riding up my thighs.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Y/n!” Mary chastised, swatting your hands away from the hem of the skirt. “You have the hips for it, and it makes your arse look good.”
You laughed and shook your head, knowing there was no arguing with Mary when it came to fashion. “Well, if you say so-” You were cut off by a tap on your shoulder.
“Hey, pretty girl.”
You rolled your eyes at the sight of Sirius Black trying to flirt with you. Sirius Black, the notorious ladies’ man and troublemaker, had always had a way of getting under your skin. His cocky smile and arrogance made you want to roll your eyes and give him a piece of your mind every time he came near you.
"Seriously, Black, can't you give it a rest?" you snapped, crossing your arms and turning away from him.
“But come on, love, you can't deny that I'm the most charming bloke around,” Sirius said, flashing his signature grin.
Rolling your eyes again, you huffed, "Charming? More like insufferable. I've had enough of your sorry excuse for compliments.”
Sirius chuckled, unbothered by your rejection. “I'll have you know that I can be quite serious when the situation calls for it.”
You scoffed. “The only thing serious about you is your name. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do than listen to your nonsense.”
With that, you turned on your heel and walked away, your friends trailing behind you.
“What the fuck was that, Y/n?” Mary asked with a raised brow.
“What? It’s not like I haven’t turned him down before.”
Mary scoffed. “Don’t tell me you still believe in finding your soulmate.”
You raised a brow at Mary. “Is there something wrong with that?”
“Well, I just don’t believe in that fairy-tale rubbish. Soulmates and true love—it's all a load of nonsense if you ask me,” Mary replied, shaking her head. “I just don't see how one person can be destined for another. There are billions of people in the world; it seems impossible that there's just one person meant for each of us.”
“Mary’s right,” Lily agreed. “And even if soulmates do exist, how do you know you'll ever find yours?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know; I just think there’s someone out there for everyone. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I like to believe in the idea of soulmates and true love. It gives me hope, you know?”
“Come on, Y/n, be real. When the hell are you going to find the one if you keep turning down every guy who tries to ask you out?” Lily asked with an exasperated sigh.
You rolled your eyes, turning to face the redhead. “I don’t know; maybe when sparks fly?”
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, and when you turned to look, sparks were flying literally out of the record player. Remus Lupin stood there frozen, his cheeks flushing from all the unwanted attention on him.
Your eyes locked into his; you felt as if time slowed down around you and everyone else just faded from view.
“What the bloody hell happened, Moony?” James Potter’s voice rang out, snapping you out of your trance.
“N-Nothing, I-I’ve just pulled the needle too early.” Remus stumbled on his words, his eyes not leaving yours.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at Remus’ embarrassment, but you couldn’t deny the flutter of butterflies in your stomach. As the chaos of the common room continued, you found yourself stealing glances at Remus, who had turned back to the record player to fix the problem.
“Come on, everybody! Let’s play seven minutes in heaven!” Sirius announced, trying to redirect the attention away from Remus.
You found yourself being tugged along by Lily, who insisted that you join in on the fun.
“Come on, Y/n, it’ll be a laugh! Plus, who knows, you might end up with your soulmate in the closet.” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh, shut it, Evans.” You groaned inwardly, not liking the idea of being locked in a closet with someone for seven minutes, but nonetheless, you followed your friends into the centre of the room, where an empty firewhiskey bottle was set up in the middle of a circle.
“Okay, so whoever the neck and the base of the bottle stops at has to spend seven minutes in the broom closet,” Sirius explained, pointing to the closet near the portrait hole. “You go first, Prongs,” Sirius said, passing the bottle to James with a smirk.
James spun the bottle, and it miraculously landed on Lily, which made her scowl and cross her arms over her chest. “I am not getting in that closet with you, Potter.”
“Come on, Evans, I didn’t make rules.”
“Go on, Lils,” you urged, a sly smirk plastered on your lips. “Rules are rules.”
Lily’s scowl deepened as she glared at you. “Fine.” Lily stomped towards the closet, James trailing behind her with a wide grin while the rest burst into a fit of giggles and cheers—including you, knowing that Lily would hex James into the next century if he tried anything.
A little while later, James came out of the closet rubbing his cheek an effect you know so well—Lily had hit him with stinging hexes.
“You alright?” Marlene asked, trying not to laugh at the look on Lily’s face as she sat between the two of you.
“Shut up.” Lily hissed, rolling her eyes. “Potter called me carrot top!”
“Alright, who’s next?” Sirius asked, trying to get the game going by spinning the bottle again. Your eyes followed the bottle as it spun around, anxiously waiting to see whether you were the next victim or not. This time it landed on you, and the other side was at Remus.
“My, my, my! Look who we have next!” Sirius announced loudly.
When the realisation set in that you would have to spend seven minutes with Remus Lupin in a small, hot, cramped closet, your cheeks flushed. Remus’s face began to match yours as the rest of the boys began to cheer—the girls even joining in—Lily had the same sly smirk you had just minutes ago.
“Go on, Y/n/n,” Lily urged, pushing you to stand. From the corner of your eye, you saw Remus stand up with a defeated sigh and make his way to you while the rest of the Marauders teased him.
Remus looked at you with an apologetic smile, his hand out, ready to help you up. You looked from your friends to the group and finally up to Remus, your eyes meeting his. Remus’ brown hair framed his face perfectly; he had long silver scars littering his face down to his neck, but he still looked as handsome as ever.
Remus crouched down beside you, his lips a few inches away from your ear, his hand out for you to take. “We don't have to do this, you know? We can just sit back down and let someone else-”
“No, no, it's alright, let’s do this”. You whispered back, taking his warm hand into yours. Everyone started to cheer, with your friends and the Marauders being the loudest of the lot. The two of you made your way into the closet.
“Go get some, Moony!” James laughed, his hands mimicking two people kissing, making Remus groan.
“Only seven minutes, love birds; use them wisely!” Sirius teased as you and Remus stepped inside. The moment the door shut, the two of you were plunged into darkness. You realised how small this closet really was; you were an inch away from being chest-to-chest with Remus.
You could feel Remus shifting in front of you, the air around you becoming warm with the close proximity. You tried to ignore the sight of his face in the dim lighting—chiseled jawline, strong nose, and brown eyes. Why the bloody hell did he have to be so handsome?
“Is it hot in here?” Remus asked, breaking the silence between the two of you as he fanned himself with his hand before fanning you as well. “Are you hot? I mean, you are hot-” You couldn’t help but laugh at what Remus had just said. Although you couldn’t see it, you knew his eyes had widened.
“S-sorry, I-I mean….” Remus stammered. The sound of your giggles made his cheeks feel warm. “I’m not exactly the smoothest bloke out here.” He chuckled nervously.
“Remus, it’s alright; I mean, it is a little stuffy in here.” you assured him, patting him on the shoulder.
“Yeah, it is,” Remus agreed before reaching into his pocket, pulling out his wand, and muttering, “Lumos.”
The light filled the small space and made you see the whole closet for the first time. If it were anyone else, you’d be panicking right now, but being with Remus didn’t feel as nerve-wracking.
“Sorry about this, Y/n,” Remus mumbled. “I didn’t think you would have wanted to be stuck in a closet with me.”
You chuckled, feeling heat rising to your cheeks. “It's fine, Remus. I know it's all just a game.”
“Thanks for coming with me here, I-“ Remus gulped, “I appreciate it.”
You raised a brow at him, a coy smile playing on your lips. “Remus, do you even know how many girls are wishing to be in my place right now? Merlin, they even call you the Casanova of Gryffindor tower!”
“Okay,” Remus began to relax, now laughing with you. “But that's just because I'm nice—nice to girls who just so happen to find me cute. Plus, I mean,” he breathed. “It's not like I'd pursue anything with them.”
You cock a brow, your teasing smile only growing as he rushes to defend, “I mean—they're all nice right back to me, but—I just have my eyes on someone else.”
You felt your heart skip a beat at Remus’ words. “Someone else, huh? Who could that be?”
“It’s just...” Remus hesitated, running his hand through his hair nervously. “I just feel like soulmates exist, you know? Maybe it’s stupid, but I can’t help it. I want to believe that there’s someone out there for me. Someone who gets me Someone who makes me feel... complete.”
Your heart pounded in your chest, and your mind was racing with questions. Were you just reading into things too much? Or was Remus trying to tell you something?
“I don’t think it’s stupid at all, Remus,” you said, your voice soft.
“I believe in soulmates too.” Remus looked up at you, surprised.  “You do?”
You nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. But before you could utter another word, there was a harsh bang against the closet door, interrupting your thoughts.
“I don't hear any kissing in that closet! Come on, you guys, don't be boring! You have three minutes left!” James’ voice echoed, muffled by the closet door.
You and Remus exchanged a glance before chuckling and shaking your heads.
“You know we don't have to do anything, right? I would never want to pressure you into anything, wizard’s honour,” Remus assured, raising a hand.
You smiled softly at his reassurance. “Eh, it sounds like they want a show. Who are we to deny them of it?” Your cheeks begin to flush, your heart pounding inside of your chest. But his lack of response made you nervous about the forwardness of your comment.
“Maybe we could just...” you gulped. “Make it seem like it.” Remus’ brows knitted in confusion. “You know, just make sounds to make them think,” you explained, hoping he'd understand.
Remus nodded, the confusion leaving his expression. “Right, that's a good idea.”
“Follow my lead.” You chuckled, winking at him.
Remus smirked. “Alright, take the stage.”
Your eyes twinkled with mischief before you banged on the closet door and let out a loud moan. “Oh fuck, Remus!”
“Oh shit, Moony’s getting some!” Sirius’ voice rang out along with loud cheers from everyone else outside the broom closet.
Remus’ eyes widened, clearly not expecting that from you. You jerked your head at him, urging him to do the same.
Remus let out an exaggerated groan: “O-oh, yes, baby girl, so good!”
“Oh Merlin, yes, yes!”
“Pinch me here,” Remus whispered, pointing to his neck. You obliged and pinched his neck lightly.
“Ouch! That hurt, baby girl!” Remus grunted. “You like it rough, huh, baby girl?”
“What in Merlin’s name are they doing?” Lily asked, horrified.
“They’re shagging, Evans; do try and catch up," Sirius said, mouth agape at the sounds coming from the closet.
The two of you continued to put on a performance, making kissing noises, grunts, thumping, and moaning from time to time.
And then, before you knew it, the door was being flung open by Sirius. “Time's up! Come on, you two lovebirds.”
Remus shot up, his face flushed. The two of you had your foreheads pressed together, hands intertwined, and clothes dishevelled. It felt strangely right, like connecting with Remus was something you were meant to do. He pulled you up, and the two of you walked out, avoiding everyone’s gaze, which seemed to be snickering. As soon as the two of you sat down, everyone didn’t waste time teasing both of you as you sat down.
“Remus, you sly dog!” James laughed, clapping Remus on the back.
“Wow, that was intense!” Peter chuckled, looking at you and Remus.
“Yeah, we thought the two of you had gotten lost in there,” Sirius added with a smirk.
“You slag, Y/n L/n!” Mary teased.
“Well, that was quite the show!” Marlene teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“I can’t believe you shagged Remus Lupin in a broom closet!” Lily rolled her eyes, but there was a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
You let out a groan and buried your face in your hands in embarrassment. “Can we not talk about this anymore? Move on to the next ones, please!”
“There will be no next, Miss L/n.” A voice said, and everyone in the room fell quiet. You lifted your head from your hands to see Professor McGonagall.
The excited chatter turned to hushed whispers. Everyone in the circle quickly stood up, some nearly toppling over because of the alcohol they consumed.
“This game ends now. If there are any further disruptions, there will be consequences. Is that clear?”
“We were just having some fun, Minnie,” Sirius explained, a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
“Fun is one thing, but disrupting the entire Gryffindor tower is another. I suggest you all clean up this mess and head off to bed,” Professor McGonagall ordered, her stern gaze sweeping over the room.
The room was quickly cleared of food, drinks, and decorations as everyone began to leave, grumbling and complaining about their fun being ruined. You helped Lily, Mary, and Marlene gather the streamers and discarded plates.
“Come on, Y/n/n, let’s head up,” Lily said, nudging you with her elbow. “I doubt Professor McGonagall is done giving her lecture for the night.”
“Yeah, that was a bit reckless, don’t you think?” Marlene added.
You sighed, feeling guilty for being a part of the chaos that had ensued. “I know, I know. I’m sorry, guys.”
“It’s okay; it was all good fun,” Mary assured
You nodded, trying to shake off the lingering embarrassment from the game and the moment you had shared with Remus.
“You sure? You’ve been quiet since you and Remus came out of the closet,” Lily teased, raising a suggestive eyebrow.
“Oh, shove off, Evans.” You rolled your eyes, playfully shoving her.
The four of you made your way up to the girls' dormitory, still reeling from tonight’s high, when someone called from behind you. You looked back only to see Remus jogging up towards you. You looked back at your friends, who were smirking at you before they stepped inside the dormitories—but you knew that they’d be listening from behind the door.
“Uh, hi.” Remus smiled sheepishly.
“Hey, Remus. What's up?” you asked, trying to act unsurprised but feeling the butterflies in your stomach were saying otherwise.
Remus stopped in front of you, nervously scratching the back of his neck. “Hey, Y/n. I just wanted to say that I had a great time with you, uh, in the closet. I mean, we made a great team, putting on that show. And, uh, I was wondering if maybe you'd like to do it again? Not the closet, of course, but... hang out, I mean.” He stumbled over his words, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
You couldn't help but smile at his awkwardness, feeling a rush of warmth at the thought of spending more time with him. “I'd like that, Remus. I had a good time too,” you replied, feeling a strange flutter in your stomach.
“Great!” Remus grinned, looking relieved. “Um, maybe we could, I don't know, go for a walk by the lake or something? If you want to, that is.”
Before you could answer his question, the door swung open, revealing Lily, Marlene, and Mary peeking out from behind.
“Time to hit the hay, lovebirds!” Mary interrupted, a sly smirk playing on her lips.
Remus chuckled, trying not to be too embarrassed in front of your friends. “Uh, so what do you say?”
“A walk by the lake sounds wonderful, Remus. I’d love to.”
“Great, it’s a date then,” Remus replied, a smile lighting his face. I’ll see you tomorrow at breakfast, Y/n?”
“Yes, definitely; I’ll see you then.”
You turned to walk up to your friends before giving Remus one last look. “Good night, Remus.” You smiled, leaning against the doorframe, your friends grinning behind you.
Remus smiled, his cheeks flushing pink. “Good night, Y/n.”
As soon as you step inside, your friends start to squeal.
“Okay, is it possible for you guys to not embarrass the living daylights out of me?” You growled with a mock glare, trying to hide the smile you couldn’t fight as you stepped inside the bathroom to get ready for bed.
“I can’t believe it!” Lily said, jumping up and down in excitement. “You and Remus, a walk by the lake—it's like something out of a romance novel!”
“Okay, okay, simmer down,” you said, rolling your eyes. “It’s not like it’s a date or anything."
"Yeah, right, we’ve never seen you smile like that before,” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
“It was just a walk by the lake, nothing special,” you insisted, shrugging your shoulders.
“Sure, sure,” Marlene said, rolling her eyes playfully.
“I hope he knows how lucky he is,” Mary added with a dreamy look.
“Should I go down and give him some pointers?” Marlene teased, earning a playful slap on the arm from Lily.
“You guys are insufferable, you know that?” You groaned, feeling your cheeks flush with embarrassment.
“Don’t pretend like you aren’t excited, Y/n,” Lily said with a wry smile.
“Fine, maybe I am a little excited about it,” you admitted, unable to stop a small smile from tugging at your lips.
“You should be, after all of what happened in the closet,” Marlene teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh, shut it. I’m going to bed before you all drive me crazy,” you groaned, rolling your eyes.
“Goodnight, lovergirl!” Lily called after you with a laugh as you climbed into bed, unable to stop a smile from spreading across your face.
As you settled into bed, you couldn’t stop thinking about the way Remus had looked at you, the warmth in his eyes, and the nervousness in his voice. You knew there was something there—something deep and unspoken, something that made you feel more alive than you had in a long time.
Meanwhile, Remus stood at the top of the staircase, staring at the door to the girls’ dormitories, a huge smile plastered on his facele.
“Oi, Moony! What are you smiling about, you lunatic?” James asked, approaching Remus with a confused look, Sirius and Peter trailing behind him.
"Nothing; I, uh, just had a good night tonight,” Remus replied with a shy smile. “I, uh, asked Y/n out on a walk by the lake tomorrow.”
James grinned, clapping Remus on the back. “That's great, mate!” James chuckled. “Finally decided to make a move, huh?”
Remus blushed and shrugged, feeling embarrassed. “I just had a really great time with her tonight, and I want to get to know her better,” he admitted.
“You've got it bad, mate,” Peter teased. “You’re already pining for her!”
“I wasn’t pining, I just...” Remus trailed off with a blush.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Moony,” Sirius chuckled, giving him a nudge.
“I’m happy for you, mate. I hope it goes well.” James smiled, giving Remus a pat on the shoulder.
“Thanks, Prongs,” Remus said, feeling grateful for his friend’s support.
“I’m happy for you too, Moony.” Peter smiled, clapping him on the back.
“What about you, Pads?” James asked, raising an eyebrow at Sirius, who rolled his eyes.
“Okay, I’m happy for you, Moons. But I’m the one that should be-”
“Okay Pads!” James said, clapping a hand over Sirius’ mouth. “You’re happy for Moony!”
“Yeah, yeah, I heard you loud and clear,” Sirius grumbled, playfully shoving James' hand away. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun too, does it?”
Remus laughed, feeling grateful for his friends and excited for his date with you. He couldn’t deny that there was something special about you—something that made his heart race and his palms sweat. Maybe, just maybe, you were the one he had been waiting for all along.
Maybe now he has somebody to love.
Surprisingly, Remus struggled to go to sleep that night; his smile was too wide and his dreams too big to relax and fall asleep. But eventually, his thoughts calmed down to imagining what the morning would bring, what her hair would look like, what she would wear, and what he'd say to her in class, finally allowing him to go to sleep.
Tumblr media
The light slowly crept through the curtains of your four-poster bed, sunlight casting a warm glow over your face. You could hear loud shuffling from outside and stop at your bedside, the bed dipping down.
“Wake up, sleeping beauty!” Mary’s loud singsong voice echoed in your ears, making you groan in annoyance.
You turned your back at her, covering your head with your pillow. “Leave me alone,” you mumbled, still bleary-eyed.
“Get up, Y/n/n! We’re going to be late for breakfast!” Lily urged you, shaking your shoulder and yanking the pillow away from your head.
Groaning in protest, you reluctantly sit up and rub your eyes. “Fine, fine, I’m up.”
“Hurry up, don’t you want to see your soulmate at breakfast?” Lily teased, making Mary and Marlene snicker.
At the comment, your eyes popped open, meeting her knowing stare, eventually getting shy under her gaze, hiding your face in the pillow. She was right, so, albeit slowly, you pulled yourself up, dragging your feet to the bathroom to start getting ready.
You showered, washed, combed and dried your hair, brushed your teeth, and got dressed. You walked out of the bathroom to find your friends waiting for you, all of them giving you sly smirks as you walked towards them.
“What do you all have up your sleeves?” You asked, eyeing them suspiciously.
"Nothing; we’re just excited for you!” Lily said with a playful wink.
“Oh, please,” you scoffed, rolling your eyes. “Keep it down, you lot.”
With your lips glossed, your long hair braided to the side, and your uniform smoothed out, you grabbed your bag and followed your friends out of the common room and down the spiral staircase to the Great Hall for breakfast.
You made your way down to the Great Hall with your friends, Mary and Marlene, linking arms while you walked alongside Lily, chatting and laughing as you made your way to the Gryffindor table.
As you entered the hall, your eyes scanned the room and landed on Remus, who was sitting with his friends. Remus glanced up at you and met your eyes, a smile spreading across his face. You felt a rush of warmth in your chest as you returned his smile.
From your fleeting glance, you were still able to see his dark brown curls perfectly framing his chiseled face. Merlin he was cute. A small smile formed as you hurried to your usual seat beside Lily, who was already looking between you and Remus, a tease on the tip of her tongue. But with your averting gaze and soft sigh as you began to load your plate, she swallowed any comment down with the flush of her pumpkin juice.
In Remus’ eyes, you couldn't look more beautiful. Your hair was vibrant and bouncing just like you, and you looked effortlessly beautiful, essentially strutting to your seat beside Lily after catching his stare.
“Mate, you're going to burn holes into her head if you keep staring.” James laughed, chewing on his first sausage of the morning.
“Oh, piss off, you hypocrite! You’re acting like you weren't staring at Lily just the same.” Remus scowled, lightly pushing James’ elbow off the table but laughing hard as it threw him off balance, Prongs’ fighting to stay on his seat, and the boys fighting to keep their boisterous laughter down.
“You’re looking at her like she took the moon out of the sky.” Peter pointed out as he shovelled some eggs into his mouth.
“You don’t understand; she’s just different,” Remus mumbled, feeling a warm flush spread across his cheeks.
“Oi, quit ogling at her. Stop being such a hopeless romantic and eat your eggs.” Sirius smirked, pushing the plate of eggs in front of him.
“Alright, back off, lads,” James intervened, swatting Sirius and Peter and grabbing a piece of toast. “He's nervous. A bloke can only handle so much. It’s not everyday that Moony is out of his wits.” Taking a bite of his toast, a sly smile crossed his lips as he watched the interaction from the corner of his eye.
“Oh, for Merlin’s sake, can we just have breakfast in peace?” Remus groaned, taking a bite of his toast.
James chuckled, knowing that he had hit a spot. “Alright, Remus, just relax. You don't want to scare her off before you even get the chance to talk to her properly.”
“You think I don't know that?” Remus hissed, feeling his cheeks heat up even more.
“Just play it cool, mate. You'll be fine,” Sirius reassured, clapping Remus on the back.
“Yeah, just be yourself, and she'll fall for you in no time.” Peter added.
Remus sighed, trying to ignore the butterflies that were dancing in his stomach. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this nervous around a girl, and it was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating.
“Now,” James chuckled. “Eat the bloody eggs, Moony. We don’t want a cranky werewolf, do we?”
Remus couldn’t help but laugh, his cheeks still flushed. “Alright, alright,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Wanker.”
This caught the eyes of none other than Y/n, who was already staring at Remus, only starting to smile seeing him so in his element, laughing happily with his friends, hiding his blushing cheeks behind his scarred hand.
As you ate your breakfast, you found it hard to keep your attention on your food. Your eyes kept drifting back to Remus. A small smile tugged at your lips as you watched the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed and the way he ran a hand through his hair when he blushed.
Feeling a warmth spread throughout your chest, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of your walk with Remus later that day. And the longer you looked at him, the more you felt butterflies in your stomach. You continued to sneak glances at him throughout breakfast, feeling your cheeks flush with warmth as he caught your eyes and smiled back at you. The moment felt surreal, but in the best way possible.
As breakfast came to an end, Remus stood up from the table, looking over at you with a warm smile. With a shy smile, Remus asked, “Can I, uh, walk you to class, Y/n?”
Your friends started giggling from behind you, making you flush in embarrassment, your cheeks nearly rivalling Lily's red hair. You turned to glare at them, only to see their smiles wide—wider than the Cheshire cat, if possible.
“Go on, give him an answer,” Mary urged, a teasing smirk on her lips.
Remus shifted nervously as he waited for your response. You turned back to him and nodded. “I’d like that, Remus.”
Remus smiled, relieved at your response. “Great.” He extended his hand to you. “Shall we?”
You nodded, throwing your bag over your shoulder before taking his hand to stand up. “See you later, girls.”
“Have fun, Y/n. Take your time!” Marlene called out, making you scowl and roll your eyes.
“Come on, Remus, let’s go.” You smiled, fighting the heat as it rose to your cheeks. You and Remus started to walk out of the bustling hall.
“Oi, lover boy!” James called out to Remus with a huge grin.
Remus groaned, refusing to look back at James. “Bugger off, Prongs!”
You chuckled at his annoyance, his nose crinkled up, and his brows furrowing—which you find cute.
“Don’t forget protection!” Sirius yelled, laughing loudly.
Remus groaned even louder, his cheeks turning beet red, while you stifled a laugh.
“I’m going to kill them, as soon as they fall asleep.” he muttered, tugging at his scarf nervously.
You shook your head, laughing softly. “Don’t worry about them. They're just having fun.”
As you and Remus walked side by side on your way to your first class, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of comfort and contentment. The world around you seemed to fade away, and for that moment, it was just the two of you sharing each other’s company, and before you knew it, you had reached your classroom.
“Thanks for walking me, Remus,” you said with a warm smile. “I’ll see you later?”
Remus smiled back at you and said, “Yes, I’ll see you later.” He sighed contentedly as you stepped inside the classroom, feeling his heart thump loudly in his chest.
Remus turned away and walked to his respective class, still reeling from the sight of your smile, when someone laughed from behind him.
“There’s our good old-fashioned lover boy!”  Sirius laughed at the sight of Remus, looking like a lovesick puppy—well, like a lovesick wolf cub.
“Merlin, Moony, you look like a walking tomato,” James teased, ruffling his hair.
“Leave me alone,” Remus groaned, feeling his cheeks flush even more. “I can’t believe you guys! ”
“You’ve got it bad, Moony,” Peter grinned. “It’s written all over your face.”
The taunting and teasing continued all the way to their first class—History of Magic—and as Remus took his seat, he couldn’t help but feel excited for the walk with you later, wondering what he could do to make it special for you.
What about a picnic? That’s nice; she would like that.
Flowers—every girl loves flowers, right? Maybe I can stop by the greenhouse and pick some up for her. Wait, what flowers does she even like?
Remus sighed, slumping in his seat. Of course he wouldn’t know what her favourite flowers were; hell, he didn’t know a thing about her yet. Remus felt hopeless; there was no way he could surprise you, unless...
“Prongs,” Remus whispered, tapping James on the shoulder.
“Huh?” James mumbled, half-awake.
“Can you guys help me with something?” Remus asked, a hopeful look in his eyes.
James yawned, rubbing his eyes awake. “What do you need?”
Remus took a deep breath. “I want to surprise Y/n later.”
James’ eyes widened. “You romantic son of a—Oi Sirius, wake up!” James nudged Sirius hard, jolting him awake.
“Where’s the dragon!? Where!?” Sirius exclaimed, bolting upright and nearly toppling out of his seat.
“Settle down, Padfoot. Remus is not going to surprise a girl with a dragon.” James rolled his eyes, making Remus huff in exasperation. “Moony needs our help with something; pay attention.”
Sirius blinked, his eyes unfocused, until he looked between Remus and James. “What's going on?” he asked, shaking his head to fully wake up.
“Remus wants to surprise Y/n today; give him some ideas,” James urged, nudging Sirius with his elbow. “You’re good at this sort of thing.”
“Oh, right. I’m quite the charmer, aren’t I?” Sirius yawned.
“Whatever, just help me,” Remus sighed, rolling his eyes as he leaned closer to the two of them.
“How about flowers?” Sirius suggested, “Girls love flowers.”
“Duh, we know that,” James said, rolling his eyes. “But which flowers?”
Sirius shrugged. “I don’t know. Just pick some nice ones.”
“Brilliant idea, really helpful,” Remus rolled his eyes.
James groaned. “This is going to take some serious planning,” he muttered, shaking his head.
Over the course of the class, the three boys huddled together and began to think of ways to help Remus plan a surprise for you. Together, they came up with the perfect idea for the picnic by the lake.
1. James will get the food from the kitchen.
2. Sirius will get a blanket and tea candles for that romantic feel.
3. Peter’s going to get the flowers.
4. Remus, just be Remus.

Later on, after class, the Marauders headed outside of the castle to start preparing for the surprise, leaving you none the wiser on what was going on behind the scenes. Throughout the day, Remus couldn’t keep the smile off his face, feeling the excitement build in his chest with each passing hour.
The sun began to set as evening approached, and students started to make their way back to their respective common rooms, some already getting ready to study in the library and some on their way to detention. When you reached your dorm, you found your friends waiting for you, already curious about how your day had gone.
“So, how was your day, Y/n?” Mary asked, a playful glint in her eyes.
“Yeah, what’d he say?” Marlene added, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
You rolled your eyes at their teasing, but you couldn’t deny the warm feeling that bloomed in your chest at the thought of your time with Remus. “We just had a nice walk to class together; nothing too exciting,” you replied, trying to keep your voice nonchalant.
Lily and the others exchanged knowing looks, clearly not buying your casual tone. “Alright, well, we won’t pry….yet.” Lily smirked. “Make sure to come back to the common room once you're done with your walk. You have to tell us everything.”
“That’s assuming there’s anything to tell,” you chuckled, feeling a familiar warmth spread throughout your chest. With that, you made your way to get ready for your walk with Remus, excitement bubbling inside you. You quickly freshened up and changed into a comfortable yet cute outfit—a pale pink sweater and some white jeans—making sure to look presentable for your time with Remus.
You waved your friends goodbye as you left the dorm, already looking forward to spending time with Remus and getting to know him better. You walked down to the common room, only to be stopped by James.
“Hi, Y/n.”
“Hey, James,” you smiled. “Have you seen Remus?”
“Actually, Mr. Moony has sent me to fetch you, my fair maiden.” James grinned before taking an exaggerated bow in front of you.
“If you’d be so kind as to follow me.” James held out an arm with a flourish, which made you laugh and roll your eyes.
“Alright, show me the way, kind sir,” you giggled, taking his arm.
James led you through the corridors, making jokes along the way. The two of you stopped at the courtyard, and James then turned to you.
“Go down to the beech tree; Remus is waiting for you there.” James smiled, winking at you.
“Thanks, James,” you chuckled, before making your way through the courtyard and down to the lakeshore.
As you reached the spot where Remus was waiting, you couldn’t help but feel a shot of warmth in your chest yet again. Remus was standing there with a smile on his face and a bouquet of pink and yellow flowers in his hand.
“Hi, you look beautiful.” Remus’ smile widened, his cheeks turning pink as he offered you the flowers.
You had to fight back a smile as his compliment made your heart skip a beat. “Thank you, Remus,” you said with a shy smile, taking the flowers. “Everything looks really lovely.”
Your eyes fell on the setup that Remus had prepared—a blanket spread out on the grass, tea candles placed around, and a small picnic basket beside it.
“Did you do all this?” you asked, feeling genuinely touched.
“Not entirely,” Remus admitted, smiling sheepishly. “My friends helped me, but I wanted to do something special for you.”
“Thank you, Remus. This is really sweet,” you said, feeling warmth in your chest.
You sat down on the blanket, and Remus joined you. The two of you started to talk and get to know each other better as the sun began to set. The air was filled with laughter, chatter, and the sound of nature around you. It felt like time was slowing down, allowing both of you to enjoy the moment and each other’s company.
As the evening turned to night and the moon shone brightly in the velvet sky, Remus took a deep breath, feeling a sense of contentment and happiness wash over him. He couldn’t deny that there was something special about you—something that made him feel more alive than he had in a long time. And in that moment, as you talked and laughed under the moonlight, Remus couldn’t help but feel as if he had found someone who understood him, someone who made him feel like everything was right in the world. And in that moment, he knew that you were someone he wanted to hold onto, someone he wanted to be a part of his life.
You looked up, meeting Remus’ eyes, and felt a sense of connection that you had never experienced before. Looking into his warm and gentle brown eyes, you just felt safe, and you knew that this was the start of something special, something worth holding onto.
“Thank you for tonight, Remus,” you said, feeling a sense of contentment in your heart.
“It was my pleasure, Y/N; you deserve it and more. I had a great time with you,” Remus replied, his eyes holding a warmth that made your heart skip a beat. “I was wondering...”
“What is it?”
“Would you like to go with me to Hogsmeade on the weekend?”
Blood rushed into your cheeks at his question. Remus just asked you out to Hogsmeade! “I’d love to, Remus.”
Remus’ smile widened, and his cheeks tinged pink. “Great. It’s a date?”
You chuckled softly. “Yes, it’s a date.”
Tumblr media
As you both made your way back to the Gryffindor common room, the evening felt magical in a way that you couldn’t quite define. You stepped inside your dorm, and you were met with the squeals and teasing of your friends, who had clearly been waiting for your return.
“You’ve been gone for ages; you seemed to be having fun,” Marlene teased, nudging you playfully.
“Hey, stop it!” you laughed, playfully swatting her arm.
“It looks like someone had a good time,” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
You shook your head at their teasing, but you couldn’t deny the smile that remained on your face. Tonight had been different and special, and you couldn’t wait to see what the future held.
As you sat on your bed with your friends, the warm feeling in your chest lingered, and for the first time in a long time, you felt like everything was going to be okay.
And as for Remus, as he made his way to his dormitory, a smile remained on his face. The special night with you felt like a dream, but he knew that it was just the start.
Maybe you were the one he had been waiting for—the one who could tame the heart of a werewolf—the one who could make him feel more alive than he had in a long time. And the thought of spending more time with you, getting to know you, and making new memories together filled him with hope and excitement.
He went to sleep that night with a contented heart and the belief that you were the one he had been searching for all this time, the one he could see himself falling for. And as he drifted into sleep, he let the thoughts and dreams of you soothe him to a good night’s rest.
Who knew a game of seven minutes in heaven could make you feel like this?

Regulus Arcturus Black.
Sirius’s younger brother.
James knew all about him of course, even though he hadn’t spoken to him at all.
But he knew. The first time he met Sirius, Regulus was all he talked about. How he had a sweet tooth, how he liked reading french poetry, how he was good and kind and talked to house elves - the list went on.
As the year went on, James heard less and less about Regulus, and being eleven years old at the time, he wasn’t paying enough attention.
Then next year rolled around. James had spent the whole of summer alternating between dreading and anticipating meeting Regulus.
He needn’t have worried though. Sirius had shown up with a dark face and alone, and from then Regulus Black was strictly off topic.
Then Regulus Black had placed in Slytherin, and well, so much for the sweet and kind boy sirius had always talked about.
So James had never interacted with Regulus. He never had any reason to - until now.
He had seen Regulus leaving dinner early and seizing his chance, he mumbled a good bye to his friends before rushing after him.
The minute he got Regulus alone, James drew out his wand, stepping closer, letting the familiar anger wash over him. “Why if it isn’t the famous baby black.”
The boy in front of him then stiffened, looking indifferent. It boiled James’s blood. How could he stand there looking so unbothered? As if he didn’t have a part in sending Sirius bloody and halfway to death to his home.
“What? Unable to speak without darling Walburga with you?” That got a reaction out of Regulus. He started, jaw clenching and made a move as of to hex him or punch him - but then he stopped. Face going blank, before he turned around and started walking away.
That just wouldn’t do. James couldn’t hurt Walburga or Orion Black, but Regulus? Sirius wasn’t his brother anymore.
James reached forward to grab Regulus’s hand before shoving him up against the wall, wand at his face.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you for what you did to Sirius.” James spoke lowkey, voice shaking with barely restrained anger.
Regulus just stared at him blankly, only serving to anger James more. “What the fuck do you think you’re playing at?”
Just then, James heard noise behind him, the sound of the rest of the students leaving the great hall. But James wasn’t about to let the coward leave - consequences be damned.
Before he could do anything though Regulus shoved him, causing James to fall promptly on his arse, winded. He hadn’t expected Regulus to have that kinda strength - but then again he always defied expectations.
Within seconds, Regulus had stolen James’s wand and held both at his throat. “Is this the kind of rash decisions you’re planning on making in the war?” He jabs the wand into his neck. “What is Sirius going to do then?”
James, admittedly, feels a bit lost right now, confused in the direction the conversation is going. Regulus glances up at the increasing sounds before he turns startlingly grey eyes on James - so different yet so similar to Sirius’s. “The Potter name carries weight.Without it, Sirius wouldn’t have made it this far.”
With that he leaves James alone, dropping his wand before he walks off, smoothing out his robes, face blank again.
James stared at the retreating form. He’s starting to think there’s more to Regulus than he had thought.

I’m actually really fascinated by Jily and Lily now, precisely because it doesn’t look as if it bothered her that J and S were inseparable. She’s very clearly aware of how important they are to each other, she writes Sirius to tell him James needs to see him and it’s just like “yeah, this is How It Is,” no bitterness from James’s wife that James needs to see Sirius. She even signs it off with her love, she doesn’t resent Sirius’s place in James’s life in the slightest.
right?? it’s amazing and i think the only reason why i love jilypad as i do and can accept it wholeheartedly. i also think it speaks immensely to james potter’s capacity for love; it’s not easy to convince someone of their place on ur life, or to give them security and mental peace esp in times of extreme tensions, but that he was able to do that to the point that lily didn’t feel threatened? amazing.
i can see it happening bc lily accepts that her and sirius occupy different roles in james’ life and there truly is no competition. i think a fic once out it like? ‘sirius was his soul, but lily was his heart’ or sumn i’m not sure, and i do think that sums it up well. james has so much love in him, it overflows and fills in all the cracks and never makes the other feel inadequate. and i also see lily as coming into the relationship w an attitude of ‘i am finally ready for not just james but sirius as well’ bc she knows it s a duo, all jokes aside, which is the one thing most people don’t understand about them.

james potter x (sirius' younger sister) reader where he knows about it but they love making his life miserable by always being on top of each other or doing cute couple things and making out whenever he enters the room (bonus point if they use the map to make sure he's coming in)
thank you for requesting!🖤
.
If there was one thing you learnt befriending the marauders, it was to love a good prank.
From small, stupid pranks that would make you giggle to long haul ones that made you laugh until your stomach had stitches, you loved a prank. You loved being a part of them. You loved planning them. You loved having a group of friends who were able to be so carefree and unbothered around each other, healthy enough to prank each other regularly and prank others together.
However, what you never accounted for was that these silly little pranks would lead you to fall in love with someone. And for that someone to be your brother’s best friend.
Despite what Sirius thought, your relationship with James Potter was not an ongoing prank. It was real, realer than any relationship you had ever had before. You loved him and he downright adored you like you were the best thing on this Earth, and that was just something Sirius would have to get used to.
Not that you and James didn’t have your fun with your brother’s overdramatic, theatrical reactions.
It had been subtle things to wind him up at first.
Like sitting beside each other during meals with James’ arm around your shoulder and sometimes feeding each other little bites until Sirius would eventually try and wiggle his way to sit between the two of you.
Like wearing James’ jersey for quidditch games rather than his and watching as the boy claimed it a betrayal of the highest order that his sister had switched sides.
Like casually sitting on James’ lap when the group are hanging around the common room, even  when there are seats free, because you two like to cuddle up on the armchair with a blanket thrown over your laps whilst Sirius yells for no funny business.
Sometimes, you’re prepared for it and you like to toy with your brother. After showing you the marauders map, it wasn’t rare for you and James to just set up wee scenarios when you knew your brother would walk in.
But sometimes, it was just purely by accident that Sirius would walk in but that didn’t mean you didn’t take advantage of it.
“It’s too fucking hot,” you groaned as you threw your body down onto your boyfriend’s bed, only to groan when the feeling of the sheets against your sweaty skin was anything but satisfying.
“You say this every time we get a heatwave after complaining how we have no good weather up here,” James mused as he rummaged through his chest for a shirt.
“You’re meant to be on my side, Potter,” you grumbled, lifting your head to glare at him.
“My mistake,” he said, abandoning his search as he began to crawl over towards you until his hands were pressed against either side of your head and his face was hovering above yours. “You are always right, my love, always.”
Your lips twitched. “Better?”
“Not enough?” James let out a heavy sigh before a grin spread across his face. “Well, that just won’t do.”
Before you could complain any further, James was dipping his head down to press his lips against yours. You smiled against his mouth, your arms wounding around his neck to pull him a little closer as his tongue teased yours.
“You’re too warm,” you murmured between kisses, your eyes falling shut as he began to trail soft pecks along your jaw. “Why are you a bloody heater?”
“You love it during winter,” he mused before lifting his head, his eyes sparkling with an idea you knew would make your thighs clench. “Why don’t we sneak off to the lake? The water will be cold and—”
“MY FUCKING EYES!”
Both of you whipped your heads around to find Sirius standing in the doorway, blanching and gagging as he recoiled and covered his eyes. He let out a dramatic cry, something quite like a garbled sound of discontent.
“Fucking hell, Pads, got some lungs on you there,” James joked, clearly unbothered by the fact he had just walked in on you two. He could have seen much worse.
“What is wrong with you both?!” Sirius yelled, finally opening his eyes to look at you two between narrowed eyes. “Lock the fucking door!”
There was a pause.
“Actually no, you shouldn’t even be doing this in the first place!” He huffed out before pointing at you. “You shouldn’t even be here, full stop.”
You rolled your eyes at your older brother. “Blah, blah, blah.”
“Calm your tits, Pads,” James muttered before he pulled himself off the bed, taking your hand and helping you up too. “We were leaving anyways.”
Sirius frowned a little. “Good—”
“Your sister has a lil’ one piece she wants to show me—”
“PRONGS!”
“It’s her favourite swimming costume,” James said with an innocent smile. “What did you think I was talking about?”
“You’re evil,” Sirius said with his lips turned downwards. “Both of you. I’m telling Euphemia about this.”

Anonymous Request: James and Regulus meet before Sirius succeeds in setting them upon a blind date.
Chaos ensues.
Jegulus - Rated T - Nonmagic AU
-
“So…erm…come here often?”
The man behind Regulus in line at the coffee shop jolted him out of his thoughts with the rather awkward and overused line, making him raise his eyebrow in amusement. “Really? That’s what you’re going with?” he asked derisively before he could stop himself.
And he really should have. Stopped himself, that is. The man was beautiful. Tall and fit, with dark hair and golden skin, hazel eyes glittering behind wire-rimmed glasses. But the man didn’t seem put out. He shrugged and smirked, murmuring, “Well, you answered, didn’t you?”
Regulus chuckled. “Fair.”
“Should I have gone more forward? My best mate loves the line, ‘Is there a mirror in your pocket? Because I can see myself in your pants,’” the man grinned, cringing just a bit. It was adorable.
Regulus resisted letting out a shout of laughter and wrinkled his nose. “Surely not. Ask me an intelligent question and maybe I’ll pay you some notice,” he advised, trying to keep a straight, unbothered face.
The man nodded, tapping his finger to his chin, pondering that. Then his face lit up. “What's your favorite Taylor Swift song and why?” he asked, as if presenting the most amazingly deep pickup line in the entire planet.
Regulus stared. Who was this man? ”That’s what you’re going with?”
“If you tell me you don’t like her, we really can’t go on a date,” the man shrugged, looking serious for the first time.
Regulus sighed dramatically. If this was how he wanted to play… “Don’t Blame Me.”
“For not liking Taylor? I have to-”
“No,” he interrupted, smirking. “That’s my favorite song.”
The man’s eyes grew as wide as his smile. He looked positively thrilled with Regulus’s answer. “Ah. Beautiful and smart.” Without asking, he plucked Regulus’s phone out of his hand and tapped at it before returning it to him. “Are you free on Saturday?”
Regulus nodded, trying to feel more angry that the man had taken his phone, but unable to feel any sort of negative emotion. Only a bit dazed.
“Brilliant! Pick you up at eight.”
It was only after the man left that Regulus looked down at his phone.
New Message: James: Is that a phone in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? 😀
-
He was late.
He’d spent all day thinking far too much about his coffee shop boy, James, and the way his eyes and smile and voice made Regulus’s stomach do funny things. He’d resisted the urge to text back, trying to regain a shred of dignity, finding that he had far more self-control when James’s laughter wasn’t ringing in his ears. But he was daydreaming, and it made him.
So he was the last to arrive for his dinner with Sirius, and when he walked distractedly up to the table, he had to do a double-take. And then a triple-take. Because there he was:
“Reg! This is James!” Sirius called, smiling in a way that said ‘behave or I’ll skin you alive.’
James, of course, looked just as shocked as he did. Which was good, really. To see him taken off-guard. It leveled the playing field.
“I’ve been telling you about him,” Sirius continued obliviously. And he had been. He’d been begging Regulus to go on a blind date with him, actually: James, Sirius’s best mate since school. Who he was convinced was perfect for Regulus.  How had he missed this?
James let out a chuckle, regaining his composure first, and offering Regulus a hand. “Regulus? Nice to meet you,” he grinned.
“And you,” Regulus replied after a moment, shaking James’s much bigger hand in his own. Gods, it was lovely.
“I’m sorry to spring you two on each other like this,” Sirius said, not looking sorry at all. “But you kept avoiding each other. And I really think you need to go on a proper date.” He paused and looked at James beseechingly. “What about Saturday? Aren’t you free?”
James met Regulus’s eyes, and it looked like he was struggling not to laugh. “Actually…I have a date,” he said, smiling. “And I’m very much looking forward to it. No offense, of course, Regulus.”
Regulus caught on quickly and tried to shrug good-naturedly. “I actually have a date, too. He’s a bit presumptuous, though. Don’t think it’ll work out,” he commented, proud of himself.
James threw him a humorously indignant look.
Sirius let it go for a bit, obviously put out that they already had plans, but still cheerful as ever. He began prattling on about work and recent parties, at first unaware of the way James was blatantly staring at Regulus, grinning like he was seeing a piece of art in a museum.
But after he grew a bit more comfortable, the two began joking back and forth, talking about pickup lines and Taylor Swift, laughing at the way Sirius was clearly confused about how he was missing something, some inside joke they had, but how was it possible when they’d never met?
It took about twenty minutes for Sirius to comment on it. The way James was looking at Regulus. The way they laughed back and forth.
He huffed and looked at them both with a frown. “Listen, I’m not an expert at this shit, but I think you two should cancel your dates on Saturday. It’s clear I’m a third wheel, here,” he complained lightheartedly.
“D’you think I should?” James asked Regulus, smirking at him playfully.
Regulus nodded and advised sagely, feeling giddy, “Better let him down easy, though.”
James grinned and took out his phone, sending a quick text.
Half a second later, Regulus’s phone dinged. He took it out an read dramatically: “When do you think Sirius will figure out we’re already going on a date,” he recited, eyeing Sirius, who looked thoroughly confused. “Dunno,” he said, turning to James. “We could snog. Maybe then he'll catch the hint.”
It was difficult to decide who was blushing more: Sirius or James.

6 favours with James Potter
James Potter x f!reader
Summary: James enters your life by asking you weird favours.
Word count: 2,1k
Warnings: kissing, mentions of punching and broken noses, anxiety attacks, crying.
A/N: based on Do Me a Favour by Arctic Monkeys, even though these aren't the vibes of the song.
Pd: I had to make that Taylor reference, I couldn't help it.
Tumblr media
Favour 1
"And do me a favor and break my nose" That's one of the first things James said to you while showing interest. You have talked a few times in class, but not enough for him to ask you that.
"What?" You ask him, unbothered, sitting under a tree, facing the lake.
"The other day at the party, you broke his nose"
Oh, yes, you did. Some guy in one of your friend's classes was bothering her a lot, and he'd been doing it for a while. So you took advantage of the situation, and punched him, just to blame it on the alcohol after.
After that beautiful flashback, you look back at your homework.
"I don't know what you're talking about" You tell him.
"Punch me so I can get over you" He suddenly says.
"Over me? What-" You are even more confused with this than with your homework.
"I can't stop thinking about you since I saw you at the party, and it's not like we're strangers, so just do it"
"James- I'm not gonna punch you" You start to pack your things as you see your friend walking to you. "I have to go, bye" Then you start to walk away, but not enough to not hear him shout:
"You know my name!"
You look back at him for a moment, doubting that this is all a prank.
“What was that?” Your friend asks you as you start to walk to the castle.
“It doesn’t matter” You sigh.
Favour 2
This time you were in divination class, waiting for your friend to sit next to you.
"Lately I've been feeling like" You start talking as soon as someone sits next to you, thinking it's your friend. But as you look up you see James.
"What? Where's-" He cuts you off by pointing at your friend, who's now sitting next to Sirius, clearly flirting.
"Do me a favor and tell me to go away" He finally says.
"What?" You ask, focused on your homework again.
"Yes, I was thinking, and I'm not sure that I would lose my feelings for you if you punched me” He smiles, like he’s imagining it. “Because, well, you get it. So this is the safest way”
"I don't-" You get interrupted again, this time by the teacher, who just approached you two..
"James, could you tell us what you see in the crystal ball?" He focuses for a moment, like he's really trying to see something.
"I see me in a really happy relationship with Y/n" He whispers the last part, so only the teacher could hear it.
"You know what? I know I sensed something between you two" She mutters before walking away, to bother another pair of students. James immediately looks at you with a big smile, to which you roll your eyes, but smile anyway.
"It's in the stars" He points to the ceiling "We're going to be together"
"Sure" You are still looking at your homework, but you can see how he smiles even more.
"How have you been feeling lately?"
"What?"
"You were going to say that to your friend"
"Didn't you want me to tell you to go away"
"Yes but you didn't, so I'm assuming I have possibilities. So, I want to get to know you"
You sigh, knowing that you can't escape from him, so you just tell him about your favorite food, song, color, flavor and season. You learn that he loves red, eucalyptus and spring, because it's better to play quidditch.
Before you can answer another of his weird questions, it's time to go to your next class, without him. So you pack your things and get up. You walk away after saying.
"I never said you didn't have possibilities"
Since then James started walking you to class, and you even went to see him practice once. Only to deny it after. But you've been talking to him more and more.
Favour 3
It was all too much, the tests, your family, your friend who you doubted was your friend anymore. It was all too much, all bottled up, until you get a letter from your family. Asking of course about your grades, not about you, or your life, about your grades, no before talking about their lives.
So you walk out the Great Hall, before everyone sees you cry. You don't even bother in telling your friend, she was too focused on some boy to notice you practically running out the room.
As soon as you're in the hallway, you feel the tears running down your face, while you walk to some random balcony, to get some air.
"What happened?" You hear James ask. He noticed you as soon as you got up the chair, and he noticed something was wrong.
"Nothing" You answer, even though tears keep falling from your eyes. Then he sits next to you, contemplating the quidditch pitch in front of you.
"It was your friend, wasn't it? You guys are almost all the time together"
"No, I'm fine" No, you weren't.
"You know it's okay to cry, right? And to tell people if they're bothering you"
This time you're the one who asks the favor.
"James, do me a favor and stop asking questions" You tell him, finally drying your face with your hands.
"Oh, okay" He tries to get up, but you stop him, by holding his hand.
"You can stay, just, talk about something else"
And he does, you stay there talking about the next prank he's doing, still holding his hand.
Favour 4
Breathe
You repeat yourself as you walk around an abandoned classroom. You were having an anxiety attack in the middle of the class, and you didn't want anyone to see you right now. So you just asked to go to the bathroom and here you were. Getting dizzy from walking around a table.
You keep trying to dry your face, even though tears keep coming out your eyes, when someone knocks on the door.
"Are you okay?" It's James, he's on the other side of the door, worrying about you.
"Yes" You tell him after getting close to it, so he could hear you.
"Do me a favor, and ask if you need some help" He says.
"I don't need help, I just need five minutes" You talk, still reminding yourself to breathe.
"Can I be with you during those five minutes?" You think about it, and when he's about to leave, you open the door with your wand, sitting on a table, looking at the window.
"Yes" You quietly say, drying your face as he sits next to you.
“I’ve seen the way she acts” He talks after a while, when you already stopped crying “Your friend, I mean. And I know I don’t have anything to do with your friendships, but as your future boyfriend, I can tell you that you deserve better” You look at him.
“My future boyfriend?” You smile, and look back at the window. “And I know, but she’s my only friend, she was the only stability I had in my life” You sigh “But not anymore I guess”
“I’ll help you make new friends, I think you would really like Remus” Then he thinks about it “Maybe not him, let's start with Sirius”
You raise an eyebrow at him “Why?”
“No reason”
“Are you afraid I might like Remus more than I like you?"
“What? No, it’s not that, how could you not like me? Have you seen me?-” Then he realizes what you said “You like me?” He smiles. But before you can answer, the bell rings, informing you that the class is over, therefore, lunch just started.
“Bye” You walk to the door, not looking back to an amazed James, who looks at you until the door closes.
Favour 5
“She likes me! She told me she likes me!” James was telling his friends when he saw you walking in the Great Hall and sitting alone. He was going to sit next to you but he saw your friend walking towards you.
He couldn’t hear what you guys were talking about, but he saw you being confident and your friend frowning, so he assumed you followed his advice. After a meal where James was only focused on you and fully ignoring his friends, he could finally walk to you as you reached the door.
“You like me” He says as he follows you to the garden, it was Saturday so you were going to do homework under the usual tree.
“Hi to you too” You answer, sitting and taking the things out of your backpack.
“Hi, you like me, right?” This time you ignore him, knowing that he wouldn’t shut up about that if you said anything wrong. “Okay, so I can’t ask that…” He thinks out loud. “Are you going to go to the Gryffindor party tonight?” He asks, smiling
“I don’t think so” You answer, focused on your homework.
“What? Why not?” He frowns.
“If you want me to go, then ask me” You look up at him, causing him to smile.
“Will you go to the Gryffindor party tonight with me?”
“Yes” You focus again on the homework on your lap, and then you notice that he’s too quiet, so you look at him, just to see him smile like he just won a contest. “What?”
“I like you, and I know that you like me, because you said it, and because, who wouldn’t like me? Have you seen me? Everything is just so perfect…” Then he lays down next to you, watching the tree leafs move.
“Do me a favor, and stop flattering yourself” You tell him, avoiding his gaze when he looks up so he doesn’t think that you were staring at him(you were).
“Then I’ll flatter you”
“I need to finish this”
“I’ll flatter you in my head” You roll your eyes and he smiles, looking at you, until he realizes something “You won’t break anyone's nose tonight will you?”
“Shut up” You tell him, smiling.
Favour 6
“I told you you’d have a good time” James asks as he follows through the hall.
“You didn’t tell me that, but I had a good time”
“You know what wasn’t good? That I got in detention and couldn’t talk to you in a week”
“You talked to me through letters” You tell him, sitting in a random window, waiting for him to sit in front of you.
“You know what they say, the best way to get to someone’s heart is by letters”
“No one has ever said that” You tell him, smiling.
“I do” You roll your eyes, looking through the window. “Can I ask you one last favour?” That makes you look back at him.
“Sure”
“Do me a favour and be my girlfriend” He smiles, pretty confident in himself.
“Okay” You smile too, getting closer to him. “Then do me a favour and kiss me”
And he does, he kisses you until you can’t breathe, until all you feel are his hands on your waist, his lips on yours. He kisses you until you forget everything, until all you can wish is to stay here forever. He kisses you like he’s been waiting all his life for this moment, like his lips can’t stop, and you don’t want them to. You put your hands in his neck as he moves you closer to him, so you have no choice but to stay here and kiss him even more.
He kisses you until you both hear someone clearing their throat.
You both look back at that person, hardly breathing, and you see Remus looking back at you.
“Hi Rem, this is my girlfriend” He smiles and looks back at you “I think it’s already safe for you to met him”
ᰔᩚෆ❧ღდლ❦ও❥ଓ
“You said no more favours!” You tell James.
“I know, but that would make me the happiest person alive”
“I thought that being my boyfriend made you the happiest person alive” You raise an eyebrow at him, who smiles at you.
“And it does! But I’d really love that”
“James, I’m not gonna punch Snape just because he looked at me”
“He was mean to you!”
“He didn't’ even talk!"
“But you could see him thinking mean things” You look at him, genuinely concerned, and sigh, laying in your bed.
“Let’s just sleep” You open your arms so he could cuddle you, and he does, smiling all the time.
“We’ll continue talking tomorrow?”
“James…”
“Okay, and you actually make me the happiest person alive” You smile, hugging him tightly.

Very important Reg headcanon is that he's not effortlessly smart. He can't ace his classes without studying or get Os with the bare mininum of reading. Sirius can, Sirius does. Reg can't stand to do worse than him, is desperate to not disappoint his parents and himself by doing worse than him. So he studies all the time every day of his life so he can get perfect grades. And they are perfect and people at school think he's smart and he's read every book he can find but it also takes all his time and energy.
Sirius is entirely unbothered about whatever 'competition' there is. Their parents aren't even happy about it bc Reg has to work so hard to be any good, whereas Sirius never had to. He might get more Os in the end, but no one he wanted to impress is impressed and he should've just done something fun instead. He never learns that lesson though, just keeps going.
