Let’s face it: you both are so like mother and father😂😂 And the father does not want to piss of mom. Definitely, Yuu knows this weakness. Like:
Yuu: „If you piss me off I tell Y/N!“ „I tell Y/N this!
You are always there if Yuu needs a hug or warmth in general. He tells you everything because you never make fun of him and courage him to fulfill whatever he wants.
As he was a little kid, you slept sometimes in his bed after he had a nightmare. Even now, he is in a hospital injured, you wait until he wakes up.
Of course, there was an awkward situation in public as he lost sight of you and called out ‚mom!‘. You just stood there shocked and embarrassed yet you liked that he was so attached to you. Except, that Guren plays a dad role.
Definitely, Shinya and some of your friends take this chance to tease you and Guren.
Yuu really loves you as family and has always a big grin on his face when he sees you.
The embarrassing thing is: As he stayed the first weeks by Guren, he thought you two were a thing. I mean you two always bicker what is best for the little boy and you almost win these arguments everytime. Like real parents, right?
When Guren takes it to far to piss you off or tease you, Yuu is always on your side!
You know that Guren deeply cares for Yū too. Sometimes you found him sleeping in a chair inside Yūs room after your mission. You put a blanket over him or flick him on his forehead to save him from a weird and painful sleeping position.
You often bicker but as Yū joins officially the Japanese Imperial Army, you oddly share the same opinion: Yu is too reckless. The first time, you two stand together in front of Yū and held him a long rant, he could not believe it.
Moreover, Guren hit Yuus head and said something about thinking before attacking. You just crossed your arms pissed and said those surprising words which caught the man himself off guard: „I agree with Guren. Stop being reckless.“ 👀 Did you just …?
Yuu can not say anything when you both scold him. Powerless… And when he tries to argue and you just give him angry eyes, he directly gives in -> Guren smirks
You are a bad cook. I mean you are soldier to kill vampires not to prepare a five stars meal. I just imagine, you being good doing this one simple recept. Yuu loves it.
During a mission with Guren, Shinya caught you two discussing about Yuu and what is best for him. The other remembers in your group could not believe their ears. It’s a dangerous mission! Shinya shrugs his shoulders as he loudly says: „I am sorry guys, it’s their first child!“ you both sent him a death glare.
In a fight with a vampire, you and Guren having a real argument about the little boy. The vampire is just: Excuse me ? I am still here to kill you.
I could write more and more … I love it… Epic Duo

Tumblr media

I'm grateful for that. also hey, I'm writing for Kevin Hayes now! keep that in mind for the next prompt list lol.
warnings: I think just swearing. also heads up, this is an OC. I like them and I ain't sorry.
word count: 4.4K+
_____
The familiar scene in the yard of Kate’s parents’ summer home on Cape Cod would normally fill her with contentment and peace, as all her family and closest, lifelong friends were gathered together in celebration. Her brother was marrying his college sweetheart in twenty-four hours, and Kate had every reason to be happy.
Today, though, after not being part of such an occasion for many months due to work obligations back in Seattle, Kate felt strange pangs of guilt and discomfort. Days like today made her wonder why she had ever left Boston in the first place.
And seeing her childhood best friend Kevin manning the grill, his nieces and nephews hanging from his long limbs as he promised them he would play with them as soon as the food was finished, made her wonder why she had ever left him in the first place.
How she had ever left him in the first place.
Kate was still lost in her own thoughts when, from across the lawn, she heard a shrill scream, followed by an ecstatic, “Auntie Kate!”
Her goddaughter Neila’s voice was unmistakable, and Kate set her purse on the grass just in time to catch Neila on her running jump, all the way from her Uncle Kevin straight into Kate’s arms. Pure joy flooded Kate’s soul as she caught Neila, giggling, and held the little girl to her chest.
“My beautiful Nene!” Kate exclaimed, kissing her cheek. “I missed you!”
Neila pulled back, pushing her hair away from her face. “I missed you, too,” she said sincerely before throwing her arms around Kate’s neck again.
A moment later, Neila wriggled out of Kate’s hold and turned toward the crowd of family and friends on the patio.
“Auntie Kate is here!” Neila announced, eliciting chuckles from the adults. Except for one — Kevin, whose eyes had already been glued to Kate since his niece’s initial squeal upon discovering her arrival. He’d turned his back on the grill to find his niece holding onto Kate’s hands and hopping backwards in an effort to pull her to join the party on the patio.
Kevin looked on as Kate threw her head back in laughter, and he felt the sort of distinct happiness that he only found when Kate was near. He couldn’t stop staring, mesmerized by how radiant she looked in her lilac sundress, with her curls thrown over her shoulders… that is, he couldn’t stop staring until his brother clapped him hard on the shoulder.
“Steaks are gonna burn, Kev,” Jimmy said loudly in order to bring Kevin back down to earth. Kevin simply nodded and turned back to the grill. Jimmy’s eyes traveled to where Kate stood reuniting with her immediate family, and a soft smile found his lips.
“She looks beautiful, no?” Jimmy spoke into Kevin’s ear, more softly this time. He was always more than willing to publicly embarrass his little brother when it came to an array of subjects. But Kate wasn’t one of them. Jimmy wouldn’t dare.
Kevin only nodded, again. Jimmy squeezed his shoulder, then scooped up his little son in his arms and headed to see his old friend.
Kate’s parents, her older brother Patrick, and his fiancée Joelle had just finished taking turns greeting her with hugs when, over her brother’s shoulder, she spotted Jimmy carrying Beau.
“Baby Beau!” Kate gasped, holding out her hands as Beau smiled and reached out for her. “Who let you get this big?!” she questioned as she took him in her arms. He simply giggled and laid his head on her shoulder.
“Hello, Kathleen Paige,” Jimmy greeted, using her full name as he had for Kate’s entire life, no matter how much she had hated the Irish moniker as a young kid.
“Hi, J,” she replied fondly, leaning in so that he could wrap her in a hug and plant a kiss to her forehead. “Your boy is getting way too big,” she told him, tickling Beau’s belly and making him laugh.
“Tell me about it,” Jimmy said. “How are you? You look great.”
Kate glanced downward, tucking some hair behind her ear.
“Thanks. I’m okay,” she replied uncharacteristically dryly, switching Beau to her other arm. “It’s good to be home,” she added without elaboration.
Jimmy nodded in understanding.
“It’s good to have you home,” he agreed, then tilted his head toward the house. “Kristen’s inside. She can’t wait to see you.”
Kate beamed at the mention of Jimmy’s wife, one of her closest friends for years now.
“I can’t wait, either,” she said, just as Beau reached back toward his dad, making them both laugh. “Here, take your mini me. I’m gonna go finish my rounds,” she told him as her eyes flickered in search of the younger Hayes brother.
Jimmy retrieved his son and smirked down at her, his own eyes dancing.
“You do that,” he encouraged, teasing in his tone.
Kate rolled her eyes, but, just as Jimmy had anticipated, she headed straight toward the barbecue next, passing at least a dozen other people who had been waiting to see her.
“Hey, grill master,” she said, her hand gently coming to rest on Kevin’s back.
Her touch took him by surprise, and he nearly fumbled the tongs in his hands as he turned to greet her, his tall frame towering over hers.
“Hey, Katie girl,” he spoke, and Kate realized just how much she had missed that voice speaking those very words. She could only grin like an idiot.
Kevin pulled Kate in, his arms crushing her against his chest, and she hugged his waist as she felt his heartbeat against her ear.
“Missed you,” she said simply.
“Missed you, too, Kate,” Kevin said, his voice rumbling against her cheek. She pulled back to look up at him with a relieved sigh as he grinned at her.
And in that moment, she finally felt some of the contentment and peace she’d been searching for.
_____
Hours later, after the cookout lunch and the rehearsal dinner, when the attention-commanding nieces and nephews had long been put to bed, Kevin found Kate where he’d always found her on summer nights at the Cape — down at the boathouse, her feet dangling above the water, her short stature prohibiting them from actually being submerged.
“Fancy meetin’ you here,” he found himself saying — immediately followed by an internal monologue of, God, Kevin, why are you so fucking lame?
Despite his pathetic attempt at humor, Kate still smiled up at him.
“I knew you’d find me eventually,” she replied, letting her gaze drift back across the water.
Kevin hummed in response as he set down the pair of beers he’d brought and took a seat on the dock beside her.
“I’m surprised you’re not with the girls,” Kevin said. “They’re up there poppin’ bottles in the kitchen.”
She laughed softly at the thought. “Nah, just needed some time to think,” she told him.
Kevin nodded, knowing not to press any further if Kate wasn’t feeling forthcoming.
“Well, I come bearing beers,” he said, offering her one of the bottles.
With a grateful sigh, she murmured a “thank you,” and accepted the cold beverage. And that was just another item that fell somewhere in the middle of the long list of reasons why Kevin adored her — because she never needed champagne or an apple martini or a Mai Tai. A beer that matched his always suited her just fine.
Kevin was smiling at the thought, and when Kate caught him, he quickly saved face by lifting his bottle in the air.
“A toast,” he announced. “To Pat and Joelle.”
She nodded, lifting her beer toward his. “To Pat and Joelle,” she echoed, clinking the neck of her bottle against his. “Cheers.”
Kate took a long pull, looking back across the cape, and after a few silent moments, Kevin casually reached for her ankles and swept her legs atop his lap, his free hand resting on her shin. It certainly wasn’t anything unusual — anyone who knew Kate and Kevin and their relationship knew that they had always been affectionate with one another. (So much so, in fact, that on many occasions, Jimmy had muttered, “Jesus Christ, just fuck already.”) But it had been so long since he had initiated such a gesture that Kate would have been lying if she said her breath didn’t catch in her throat a little.
She sniffed and made work of picking at the label on her bottle, trying to act as cool and collected as possible.
“You look great, Katie,” Kevin eventually piped up, interrupting the silence and making Kate feel somehow more nervous and more at ease all at once. She tucked her chin to her chest with a breathy chuckle. “I mean it,” he added earnestly. “I should’ve said it before, but… anyway, just wanted to tell you now.”
She tilted her head up to look at him, and Kevin had to remind himself to breathe as she shot him her famous pursed-lipped smile, pushed to one side of her mouth.
“Thanks, Kev,” Kate said softly. “You do, too.”
“How’s work?” he asked, assuming that he’d be posing a simple, run-of-the-mill question, one that might lighten the mood and give his heart rate a chance to slow a bit.
But Kate snorted, lowering her bottle from her lips after a swig. “What work?” she asked cynically.
Kevin’s brows furrowed. “What do you mean?” he asked, confused.
She cleared her throat, turning to face the full moon instead of him. “The magazine shut down,” she finally admitted. “It’s been almost a month now, I guess.”
And for once in his life, Kevin was speechless.
Kate had started working for the small, independently-owned Pacific Northwest tourism magazine five years ago — the publication was the whole reason she’d moved to Seattle in the first place. She was so proud of her photography that was featured in each issue, and so was Kevin — though Kate didn’t know it, he had subscribed to the magazine after her first photo was featured in an issue early in her time on staff. And since the monthly magazines were mailed to his place in Philly and not in Dorchester, he realized that he would have had no way of knowing about the shutdown if it weren’t for Kate directly.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Kevin asked gently, concern evident in his tone.
She shrugged. “Not something I really felt like talking about this weekend,” she replied, rubbing her hands along her upper arms to warm them from the cool ocean breeze. “Not necessarily something I was all that proud of.”
Kevin’s heart sank. “But it isn’t your fault, Kate,” he said, squeezing her calves. “You didn’t have any control over the magazine going under.”
She heaved a sigh. “I know, but…” she began, tipping her head back wearily, “it just feels like everything’s crashing down around me in Seattle. Half a dozen of my friends have moved away in the last year, my freelance clients are dwindling seemingly by the day because everybody and their mother think they can be their own photographer, and now the magazine’s gone. It just feels like I’m failing at everything, Kev. Failing at life.”
“Hey,” Kevin said firmly — immediately. He nudged her chin with his thumb so that she was looking straight at him, those sea blue eyes of his suddenly the only thing she could focus on, as all of her self-doubt was washed away, even before he continued to speak. “You are not failing. You’re 28 years old. This is just a part of growing up, Kate,” he assured. “This shit happens to everyone. Remember when I got shipped to Winnipeg and then to Philly so quick? I went through the same shit. I felt like nobody wanted me, like I couldn’t do anything right. But it got better. It always does, Katie. Especially for people with as good a heart as you.”
Kate sniffled, wiping at a lone stray tear with her knuckle.
“Thanks, Kev,” she said softly, followed by a few more quiet sniffles. “You’re the best. Reasons why I love you,” she blurted out before she could stop herself.
Kevin’s brows lifted and his eyes widened as he looked at her, wondering if he’d just heard her correctly.
As with the physical touch, it had always been this way with Kate and Kevin when it came to their long-simmering feelings for one another. One of them would slip up and say some shit like “I love you” or “you’re so hot” or “come home with me,” and then try to play it off or walk it back, while the other person was left reeling, unsure of whether or not the other had truly meant what they’d said.
“I mean, you know, like I—”
“I love you, too, Kate,” Kevin said without hesitation, not walking anything back, interrupting Kate’s hopeless stuttering.
She glanced at him, taking a few chugging sips of her beer, and shook her head.
“No, you don’t,” she asserted flatly. “You’ve had a lot to drink. So have I. It’s a wedding weekend and we’re—”
“No, Kate,” Kevin insisted. “I mean it. I-I love you.”
And Kate suddenly felt really dizzy, like, really dizzy, and not because of the alcohol or the day she’d spent in the sweltering July sun. Dizzy like her best friend since diapers had just fully admitted that he love loved her in a manner far more sincere and more convincing than all those other times before.
“I… I gotta go to bed, Kev. Big day tomorrow,” Kate said abruptly. She drew a deep breath, swung her legs out from beneath Kevin’s hold, and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek before pushing herself up from the dock and heading for the steps. “‘Night.”
_____
“You did what?!” Jimmy asked on the golf course the next morning, coughing as he nearly choked, not because of his cigar smoke, but due to pure shock upon hearing his brother’s declaration.
“I told her I loved her,” Kevin said. “And she told me I was just drunk, and I told her I wasn’t, and then she went back to the house.”
“I think I need to lie down,” said Keith Yandle, Kate and Kevin’s mutual lifelong family friend, as he dramatically took a seat in the golf cart.
Jimmy stood slack-jawed in front of Kevin, waiting for more.
“And?!” he finally prompted.
Kevin shrugged. “And I haven’t talked to her all morning,” he said, earning groans from Jimmy, Keith, and Noel Acciari, another longtime member of the crew. “But I don’t regret it. And I’m bringing it up again tonight.”
“At her brother’s wedding? What, are you nuts?” Jimmy accused.
“No, that’s perfect,” Keith bellowed. “You know how girls get about weddings. All gooey and shit. Just get her a couple drinks at the reception. She’ll cop to loving your sorry ass, too. We all know she does. This has only been about three decades in the making.”
Kevin hated to admit it, but Keith was right, and he knew that Jimmy knew it, too, as Jimmy stood with his hands on his hips, sighing as he exhaled cigar smoke.
“Alright, fine,” Jimmy said, putting his hands up and rounding the golf cart to take the driver’s seat. “That’s not your worst idea ever, Yands. And you know what, Kev? I’m proud of ya. I wasn’t sure ya had it in ya.”
Kevin let out a singular chuckle and adjusted his golf hat.
“Neither was I.”
_____
“He said what?!” Kristen said loudly from the makeup chair as Kevin’s sister Justine squealed in the hair chair next to Kate’s.
“He told me he loved me,” Kate replied incredulously, still not convinced that last night was anything more than some fever dream. “Like, actually loved me. And I didn’t say it back. Because I’m an asshole.”
“No, you’re not,” Kristen assured firmly as Justine waved Kate off. “He caught you off guard, that’s all. You’ll have plenty of time this weekend to make it up to him,” she said, waggling her eyebrows.
Justine flung out an arm and squeezed Kate’s elbow.
“Wait, are you gonna say it back?” she asked in a sharp whisper.
Kate just pursed her lips, smiling crookedly.
_____
“Jesus fuck,” Kevin muttered as Kate walked into the narthex of the church to be lined up for the walk down the aisle. Noel elbowed him in the ribs.
“We’re in a church, bud,” Noel muttered. “You’re gonna get struck down, and I’m gonna be standing next to you when it happens.”
Kevin barely heard him as he watched Kate approach her brother, who let out a “wow” at her appearance and pulled her in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Wow was putting it lightly. Her hair was left long and curled, save for a few pieces pinned back from her face, and she donned an elegant, v-neck, pale blue bridesmaid dress that appeared to have been designed just for her. Her makeup, though simple, was flawless, accentuating her strong features, making her hazel eyes, in particular, impossible not to notice.
Kevin had never seen Kate look more stunning in all his life. And that was saying something.
Kate turned toward the groomsmen next, her eyes immediately locking with Kevin’s, despite Jimmy’s wolf whistle and Noel’s “damn, Katie.”
She shot them both an eyeroll before refocusing on Kevin.
“Hi,” she said dumbly.
“Hi,” Kevin repeated. “You look beautiful, Kate. Perfect.”
There was that pushed-to-one-side, pouted-lip smile that made Kevin’s pulse race.
“Thanks, Kev,” she replied. “You look really handsome.”
Kevin gave her a grateful smile, then took a step closer to her.
“Can we talk later?” he asked, softly enough that he hoped no one else could hear and then subsequently give him shit for asking such a middle school question. His breath against her ear sent shivers through Kate, and his low tone made her mouth go dry.
She nodded, looking up at him doe-eyed and unable to form a single word. He nodded, too, and before she knew it, he was reaching for her hand, brushing a soft kiss against the top of it, and giving it a quick squeeze.
Kate didn’t have a chance to overanalyze his actions because the wedding planner quickly marched through the group, announcing that Patrick and his groomsmen needed to make their way to the altar for the start of the ceremony. Kate stepped forward to pull her older brother in for one last hug and a few whispered sentiments, then she smiled shyly at Kevin, smoothing her hand over his lapel as she passed, unaware of the knowing smile that Jimmy and Kristen shared watching the two of them.
_____
Back at her parents’ house for the reception, Kate was well on her way to a hangover for her flight back to Seattle tomorrow. Naturally, she’d been seated next to Kevin at the head table, and though the two of them hadn’t yet found time for an actual conversation, they each knew it was coming, which only increased the number of trips they’d both already made to the open bar.
After the meal, Pat and Joelle were invited to the dance floor in the middle of the yard, beneath twinkling string lights and the glow of the moon, and the strains of “Marry Me” by Train came over the sound system, filling the salty air with the peaceful guitar melody.
Kate’s jaw dropped just slightly, but enough for Kevin to take notice.
“That asshole,” she whispered.
Kevin held back a laugh at her reaction to this significant, romantic moment in her brother’s life.
“What?” he asked quietly.
“This is my wedding song,” she told Kevin incredulously, putting her hand to her chest. “I’ve said that since I was, like, in middle school. He knows that.”
Kevin wasn’t sure if it was the drinks or how breathtaking Kate looked or the feelings he’d long been pushing down finally bubbling over, now that he had let his little confession slip last night, but he suddenly heard himself say, “We can use it, too. Nobody’ll remember by then.”
Kate stiffened in her chair and snapped her head toward him.
“What?” it was her turn to whisper.
“Oh, come on, Kate,” Kevin said, sipping his whiskey casually. “Let’s not kid ourselves. That’ll be us up there someday.”
And there was that goddamn smile of hers again — Kevin knew she was trying so hard not to pull a full-on, megawatt grin, which was fine by him because he was perfectly happy with this version. Preferred it, actually.
She cleared her throat and shook her head.
“Don’t hold your breath, Kev,” Kate replied lightheartedly. But her tone was… less than convincing, some might say. Even less convincing was the way she almost imperceptibly leaned closer toward Kevin, whose arm rested loosely around the back of her chair.
And at that, Kevin smiled into his glass.
_____
Somehow, even in the midst of her own brother’s lively wedding reception, Kate still found her way to the boathouse. Kevin hadn’t even bothered to look for her elsewhere — once he noticed that she’d disappeared from the dance floor, he grabbed two Boston Lagers from the bar and headed for the dock.
She smirked when she heard his footsteps.
“Want some company?” he asked on his way down the wooden steps.
“Only if it’s you,” she replied, the flirtation evident in her tone.
Kevin smiled, pleased with that answer, and took his familiar spot next to her.
“Nice day, huh?” he asked, again pulling her legs across his lap before nudging the second beer into her hand.
“Really was,” Kate replied, clinking her bottle against Kevin’s for yet another toast.
They sat wordlessly for a few minutes, staring out at the water, listening to the laughs and chatter and music from the party up in the yard.
Eventually, Kevin cleared his throat, drawing Kate’s attention.
“Listen, Kate, about last night,” he began, but Kate’s anxiety spurred her to interrupt.
“No, it’s okay, Kev,” she said, shaking her head quickly. “You don’t have to explain—”
“No, I do,” Kevin insisted. “I-I don’t know if you’re getting it.”
She frowned. “Getting what?”
Kevin opened his mouth, looking into her eyes, then closed it again with a humorless chuckle.
“I meant it,” he finally said. “I said I loved you. And I meant it.”
Kate couldn’t break from his gaze despite the flipping sensation in her stomach, and despite the warmth creeping up her neck. The intensity of his stare was foreign to her — she was so used to happy, joking, jovial Kev, who never took anything too seriously. Even his earlier comment about their supposed future wedding reception had been tinged with sarcasm.
There was no ounce of him that was kidding now. That much Kate could see.
“You’re perfect for me, Kate,” Kevin continued. “You always have been.”
She blinked, tucking her loose waves behind her ear.
“Kev, I—”
“Wait, wait,” he laughed to himself, shaking his head before taking a long pull from his beer. “Listen, you gotta let me finish, because it took me this long to get this far. Okay?”
She nodded. He took a deep breath, his eyes fixed on hers.
“I love you, Kate,” Kevin said. “I love you in the worst way. The most real way. Not just some fleeting, fling-type shit. I mean, I want it all with you. Everything. The whole fuckin’ thing. Ring, wedding, babies in little ‘13’ jerseys. Nice house, a dog. Picket fuckin’ fence. I want what our parents have. And our siblings. You’re the only person I wanna share that with. Ever.”
Kate was crying now, blissfully unfazed that her mascara tears might stain her pretty makeup. Though, they didn’t, because before they could, Kevin’s thumbs had wiped them away, and after rubbing his fingers together, he smoothed his thumbs along her cheekbones.
“And I’ve always known it,” he continued. “But it took you going away and coming back for me to work up the balls to say it.”
Kate hadn’t flinched this whole time, Kevin noticed. In fact, her eyes grew brighter and her soft smile a bit more noticeable with each word he had spoken. But she had yet to utter a word. He studied her in anticipation.
“You gotta say something, Katie girl,” he said nervously. “I’m dyin’ here.”
But there was little left for her to say, she realized, and so instead, she leaned in, cupped Kevin’s neatly-bearded cheeks in her hands, and kissed him like she had never kissed a single soul before. And Kevin kissed her back, his relief evident in his tender touch, in the way he exhaled softly against her mouth.
As soon as Kate pulled her lips from his, hers curled into a breathless smile, and she leaned her forehead against his.
“I love you, too, Kevin Hayes,” she whispered, her fingers combing through the hair at the back of his head. “I’ve loved you since forever.”
“Be with me,” Kevin blurted, as if he actually needed to. “Like, officially. I wanna do this with you.”
She nuzzled her nose against his and circled her arms around his neck.
“Oh, we’re doin’ this,” Kate told him, beaming. She pressed a kiss between his brows and whispered, “Can’t get rid of me now.”
_____
Three summers later, in her parents’ yard on the Cape, Kate twirled around the dance floor to “Marry Me” by Train with a tall, reddish-brown-haired, blue-eyed boy from Dorchester, the very one she had loved since she was a little girl, long before she even fully understood what love was.
But now, Kate knew exactly what love was, because she knew Kevin.
Her newly dubbed husband leaned down to speak softly into her ear as her song continued to play.
“Remember that night we finally got together, when Pat and Joelle had their first dance here?” Kevin asked. “And I told you, ‘someday it’ll be us up there,’ and you told me not to hold my breath?”
Kate hid her face in his chest and felt her face warm, chuckling bashfully. Her recoiling only caused Kevin to hold her tighter and press a kiss to the top of her head. His thumb and forefinger found her chin and angled her face toward his.
“I’m glad I held my breath, Katie girl,” he said, his voice low.
Kate nodded, her eyes damp with unfallen tears. “I’m glad you did, too, Kev,” she said.

For the ship and word game: Harry/Ginny, snitch ♥️
Thanks for the prompt! Hinny as parents - James is twelve. :)
SNITCH
It was December and so it was a cold grey day. There was no other kind of day in Scotland in December.
Despite the rather miserable weather, Ginny was jubilant as she trudged through the snow towards the familiar Quidditch pitch, red sweater on under her thick winter coat.
James had sent a letter late in the night. It was barely legible, and mentioned something about Quidditch. The follow-up letter from Teddy helped clarify things. James was in the reserves for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and was getting to fly his first game thanks to a chaser getting a bad case of Fwooper Flu.
No one had ever come to her games at Hogwarts as her mother had never been comfortable Apparating and couldn’t spare the Floo powder, while their father was always busy at work. It wasn’t something she particularly resented, but looking back she would have liked them to see her and cheer her on for her games.
Harry was off on a mission, but Ginny could spare the time, and was happy to get a chance to see James playing his first ever game. It was strange being back at Hogwarts after so many years. She’d been back a few times for memorials back in the early 2000’s, but it had been over a decade since then, and much had changed. In some ways it was the same- the Quidditch pitch didn’t look all that different, but the pathways to it had changed, the seating, and she was having trouble finding the locker room.
“Ginny!” she heard a voice call, and saw Neville waving in the crowd. She enthusiastically waved and jogged over.
“Hey Nev!” She smiled and gave a hug.
“Here to see James?”
“Yes! Though, I’ve not clue where the locker rooms are! Where’d they move them to?”
“Ah! Those are on the South side now. The old ones had a lot of old spell damage and got torn out, oh, five year ago now?” he explained, leading the way to the locker room.
She could hear the sounds of teens excitedly gearing up for the game.
The team were mostly students Teddy and Victoire’s ages, if she had to guess by the look of them. James, by comparison, looked tiny and pale. He was bouncing both his legs as he sat at his bench, hands running through his hair. He was already with uniform and pads on, while the rest of the team were more languorous in getting their pads in place.
She’d been exactly the same her first match as a Harpie.
“Knock knock,” she said, fully entering the room. The teens quieted down seeing there was an adult in the room, while James shot to his feet.
“Mum!” James cried out with a smile, before carefully schooling it to a much cooler nonchalant look. “Erm, what are you doing here?”
“Came to see your first big game, of course,” she laughed.
“Oh wait- that’s Ginny Potter!” cried out an eastern asian girl. One of the tall teenage whipped around, a furious blush on his face, before shutting his locker that had an old poster of hers. She remembered the row she’d had with her mum over the poster and how she wasn’t ‘fully in her uniform’ for the shot. Another kid, Oliver Wood’s daughter she’d met a few times over the years, gave a quick wave.
“Yup,” she said with a winning smile. “Best of luck, to all of you. Go Gryffindor!”
She caught James’s eye and was surprised to find him looking rather cross. She gave a quick gesture with her head to the door and he joined her just outside.
“Excited for your match?”
“Well I was…”
Oh dear. She could feel the tween angst rolling off of him.
“Everything alright?”
“Why’d you have to come into the locker room? No one else’s parents did that.”
“You sure about that? Because I know for a fact Oliver Wood was there for the first few years of your Keeper’s games.”
James bit his lip, adjusting his rectangular glasses.
“You sure?”
“Oh yes. And he wore full regalia and painted his face, so you’re old mum isn’t too much of an embarrassment by comparison.” She had no idea if Oliver Wood had done this, but it was the first embarrassing thing she could imagine to make her look a bit less bad by comparison.
“It’s not that you’re embarrassing…” he said, digging the toe of his shoe into the ground.
“Oh?”
“I just… I want them to be thinking about how I’m good on my own. Not because of you.”
Oh. She’d not considered that as being a thing, but completely understood the sentiment.
“Hey, I can leave if—”
“No… No, I want you here. I’m glad you came,” he said, before furtively looking around him then leaning in to hug her.
“You’re going to crush it, James,” she whispered in his ear. “Remember to really tuck in your heels and arms when you’re doing any hard sprints. And look farther down the field so you can get a big picture of the whole game and really slow things down. Oh, and ‘give to get’ on your tight turns so that—”
“I know, I know!” James said, putting a hand through his messy auburn hair. It wasn’t as messy as Harry’s, but she had a feeling he’d been running hands through it more than usual.
“Best of luck, darling,” she said with a kiss to his forehead.
He gave her one of his most confident smiles, flashing his straight teeth, and for a moment she could just picture what he’d be like when he was quite grown up, a thought that terrified her.
“See you after the game,” she said, giving his hair a ruffle as she went to find her seat.
She looked for Neville amongst the stands, but spotted a familiar head of dark hair beside him.
“Harry?” she called out. He turned and grinned at her, wearing a Gryffindor scarf and facepaint on his cheeks.
“Go Gryffindor,” he said with a grin.
She smiled back, loving that he’d somehow made it to the game. She also loved how mortified James would be later. She was the cool parent; today at least.
“Nice to see you in your old colors,” she said, taking a seat beside her husband. “Thought you had a mission today?”
“The great thing about being Head Auror is you can push those off on other people,” he said, taking hold of her hand. “Plus it’s his first game. I couldn’t miss it. It’s nice to have someone in the stands rooting for you when you’re taking on something daunting.”
She gave his hand a squeeze.
“Yell super loud when James flies out. He’ll love it!”
James might act embarrassed, but she was sure he actually would love having his father there cheering him on.
When James flew out Harry gave a giant whoop, which made James show off with some loop-de-loops instead of going red faced like Albus would have.
The match was a good one, and James was keeping up very well with players years older than he. She glowed as he followed her advice to ‘give to get’- slowing down on turns so he could gain more smooth speed on the long runs.
He was a natural chaser and she couldn’t be more proud.
James was in a perfect tail slide transition with his Quaffle when a bludger was his his direction. Too intent on looking down the field, and with all the cheers, he missed her and Harry’s scream as their son took a Bludger to the back of his head and went tumbling from his broom.
There were a number of spells on the field to prevent a student from making impact with the ground (something they could have used back in her and Harry’s day). It did nothing to prevent the terror scraping at her insides seeing her little boy put on a stretcher with blood running down his temple, glasses smashed and laid on his chest. Harry’s jaw was set and he made an incongruous sight looking so grim while adorned in the bright face paint.
James was rushed to the hospital wing, and she and Harry stayed by his side the whole way there. All his cousins and Teddy came to visit, but they dispersed once they knew James would be alright, with the exception of Teddy who opted to stay.
James was healed and bandaged up by Hannah Longbottom. Despite knowing James was fully healed, they opted to stay until he woke up. Teddy nodded off in a nearby chair, his hair subconsciously turning the same color as James’s as he slept.
Ginny stood looking at James’s sleeping face until her vision blurred. She could picture him when he was just a tiny baby, his look of mischief on his face as he padded along the halls on pudgy legs, toddling after Teddy and Harry, wanting to be so grown up.
Harry took her hand and squeezed it.
“He’s alright, love.”
“I know,” she replied, swiping at her eyes. “I can’t stop thinking of him as a baby, for some reason.”
Harry gave a dry laugh. “I’ve been thinking the same thing. Is it just me, or is being a parent a bit like having a time turner? In the blink of an eye you can see your twelve year old as a baby or when he first walked.”
“Especially when they’re asleep,” she said, stroking James’s lightly freckled cheek. “I’m glad you came today.”
“Me too. He flies just like you, you know,” said Harry before standing beside her.
“I was thinking some of those loop-de-loops looked like you at that age.”
“Naw, all his brilliance is from his Mum,” he said, leaning in to gently kiss her.
“Eurgh…” James gave a grunt, squinting at them. “What happened?”
“You got a bludger to the back of your head. Same injury your dad had in his sixth year.”
“Wicked…” said James, before his eye went wide. “Who won the game?”
“Gryffindor, even though they didn’t catch the Snitch. You Chasers were that good!” said Harry, sitting beside James.
Ginny could picture James’s first broom ride, with Harry excitedly following beside him so he wouldn’t slip off the tiny broom.

Birthdays through the years (Diluc x reader)
.........*years ago*.........
You stood in front of the large doors of the Dawn Winery, your hands fiddling with the wrapped box with both nervousness and excitement. You really hope that your best friend Diluc would like the gift. You jumped a little when the door opened, revealing Crepus who saw you and gave a warm smile.
“Ah, you arrived. Diluc has been anxiously waiting for you, (y/n).” Crepus said, opening the door for you. As you walked in, Crepus called out for his son, who immediately ran out from a room. Large red eyes widened with excitement and ran into you to hug you tightly, squishing your cheeks together.
“(y/n)! I’m so happy you came!” He cried out with a big smile. You laughed as well, pulling back a little and petting his fluffy red hair. The two of you left Crepus to head into the dining room where his adopted brother, Kaeya was waiting in and gave you a small wave. Despite being the son of a famous man in Mondstadt, Diluc preferred having small birthdays with his family and best friend. You came from a humble family who worked with Crepus for a time. During that time, you often visited the Dawn Winery with your parents where you met the brothers and became close friends with them. You and Diluc became especially close to which you two never seemed to separate.
“(y/n) look at this. Kaeya and father made me this for my birthday.” Diluc said as the both of you sat down and he pointed to a white cake with red frosting, two slices cut out for the brothers.
“Wow, that looks delicious.” You complimented, causing the blue hair boy to blush shyly. A maid proceeded to cut you a slice so you decided to pass Diluc your present. “Here Diluc. I hope you like it.” Diluc thanked you and took the present, opening it rather quickly. Kaeya peeked over a little as Diluc pulled out a red gem attached through a gold rope. “My mom taught me how to make it. It’s supposed to go around your collar, like a necklace.” You explained, feeling a little nervous as Diluc stared at the present.
“This is really pretty. Thank you, (y/n).” Diluc thanked with a bright smile, immediately relieving you of all the anxiousness you’ve been feeling.
.........*a few years later*.........
Time passed and much has changed in your life. You started taking a liking to making trinkets and jewellery. You have made a number, including a blue earring for your friend Kaeya, and women started to take notice of them and wanted some for themselves. Thus you became quite well-known in Mondstadt and noticeably grew more independent from the nervous child you were before.
As you busied with your hobby-turned-job, Diluc and Kaeya grew to be strong young men who joined the Knights of Favonius. You knew it was a dream of Diluc considering the number of times you played knights with the two of them. And you were happy to see him rise up well, gaining much respect and admiration among the other knights. Kaeya seemed to have just tagged along with his brother but he too made a name for himself as a man with wits and skills.
Despite not being able to spend as much time together as when you were kids, you and Diluc still had a strong relationship. When you were both free, you would meet on a quiet grassy hill to talk about your lives. Diluc would share about his training with the knights and the people who he has met, including the successor of the Gunnhildr Clan Jean. You shared about the new materials from different regions which you tested making trinkets with, sharing how you would love to travel to those places yourself one day. No matter how tired Diluc was from training, he always seemed to make time for you. You were after all a dear friend of his and he liked the idea of having you involved in his life.
Every time you two talked, you always noticed the red gem hanging around Diluc’s neck. A present from you which he has held dear to all those years. It was just one of the quiet actions which the boy has done to show how much he appreciated your company. Other than that, many have noticed how much happier Diluc seemed when he was with you. Crepus liked to joke about how he felt relieved of leaving the Dawn Winery one day to the both of you, to which made the both of you shy about the thought.
Though, Diluc never once denied it.
Speaking of the Dawn Winery, you were right now decorating the living room for Diluc and Crepus’ arrival. It was Diluc’s coming of age ceremony and you wanted to give him a surprise when he returns home. So you came early and worked with the staff to get everything ready. You headed to the couch where you rummaged through your bag and pulled out a small package. It was a handmade lanyard which you hoped would be useful for Diluc with his new rank as captain. You were thrilled when Diluc shared the news and you immediately went to work on this as your way to say congratulations.
You smiled to yourself and placed the present on the table, waiting with the rest of the staff for the masters of the house. But all of you would have never guessed the horrible incident which would change everything which seemed normal.
.........*current year*.........
It was late at night in the Angel Share and the red hair bartender was cleaning the last of the glasses for the day. He had gotten a good amount of information for his personal mission and was ready to head back home to prepare for his quest. He heard the door opened and was about to remark about the tavern being closed when he saw who was standing by the door and his eyes widened slightly.
“Diluc. I’m glad to catch you before you left.” You said as you pulled down your hood and walked over to the bar seat.
“You know the bar is open during the day, right?” Diluc remarked, placing the glass on the tabletop.
“There’s too many people during that time. This is the only time I can talk to you without anyone bothering us.” You said. Diluc hummed in response and went to the bottle shelf. Meanwhile you quietly observed him, smiling softly. It had been three years since the unfortunate incident and it changed your lives.
Obviously Diluc became more distant and somewhat cold, an irony of his Pyro vision. The death of his father and his leave from the Knights of Favonius made you see him less, sometimes not at all. You tried to reach out to him but something told you to keep your distance for the time being, only showing your silent support on the sides.
It was only when Diluc needed help with a commission and he knew that you usually travelled across lands for your job. He trusted you and let you in on private affairs of his, including his persona as the Darknight Hero. You jumped at the chance to help him in any way you could, which included gathering intel from people of different cities and bringing new materials back to the Dawn Winery.
Because of that, the two of you begun to spend more time together. Your more optimistic nature and light talk of what you’ve seen in your travels slowly broke the walls of Diluc’s heart and the man started to become himself around you. You counted the times he managed a small smile in front of you, being happy with yourself every time he did.
“How was your trip to Liyue?” Diluc asked as he passed you a glass of your favourite drink.
“It was great. Working with the jewellers there was inspirational. Plus the experience of their culture was a nice refresher.” You answered and took a sip of your drink. “Also, I got some good information about the Abyss.”
“Sounds good. We’ll talk about more about it back in the Winery.” Diluc nodded and said. You both shared a silent moment with short chats for a while before you remembered something.
“I almost forgot. I got you something.” You went through your bag before pulling out a parcel. “It’s a speciality tea from Liyue. I know you don’t like alcohol so I thought you might like to try this.” Diluc took the parcel and a nice natural aroma wafted into his nose.
“It smells good. I’ll have someone make tea for us when we return.” You nodded and hopped over the counter to wash your empty glass. As you were, you jumped a little when strong arms wrapped around your waist and a warm breath hit the crook of your neck. You couldn’t help but smile, knowing how touchy Diluc actually is when in private. And judging by his action, it would seem that someone missed you.
“You know, I only managed to come back this quickly because it’s your birthday tomorrow. I know you don’t see the need to celebrate it but do you think you want to do something special? Just the two of us.” A small smile formed on Diluc’s face and he lifted his head to place a feather-like kiss on your forehead.
“I would really enjoy that.”

Remember us - part 5
Hello everyone....
Your weekly dose of angst is here... but in this part we have a bit of domestic fluff...
CW: mention of miscarriage and depression
-----
“Aelin, please.” His voice gruff with pain.
“I said get out.” She snarled at him from the bed.
Rowan moved a step towards her doing the exact opposite of what she had told him “I am not.” His arms folded at his chest “do you really think that being alone will help? That kicking me out will heal the pain of losing our daughter?”
Aelin sobbed hard and threw the pillow at him and he took the hit “don’t.”
“I lost her too. Will you accept that the pain is not only yours?” He shouted back “I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. And it fucking hurts because she was my baby girl too.”
“Stop…” her sobs grew in intensity “You have no idea of the pain.”
Rowan moved closer “No I don’t. I did not carry her in me for five months. I don’t know that pain.” He caressed her head “but she had a hold on my heart since the day you showed me the sonogram.”
“You are hurting me.” She said quietly looking away from him “and I need you to go.”
“Fireheart…”
“I said get out.” She shouted.
With his heart breaking, Rowan left the room.
Rowan woke up with a gaps, feeling the desperate need to get air in his lungs. He drew a hand on his face and felt tears. Had he been crying?
The memory was still vivid in his mind and it left him with unbearable anguish in his heart. In the dream he had felt both their pain. It had been real. His thumb reached for the ring on his fourth finger a gesture he had been doing a lot recently.
The memory had left him in a daze. How had they survived such deep pain? How could two people recover from such destructive sorrow?
But they did. Somehow their marriage had proven stronger than loss.
He sighed and took his phone to look at more picture of his family. He had so many that it took him a lot to go through them all. When he unlocked the phone he saw a text from Aelin sitting there, waiting for him.
Eagerly he opened it I am going back to work today, is it okay if I come and visit you?
Like a desperate man Rowan texted back as fast as he could please, it would make me very happy. The tv seems to be a very poor companion.
After he sent the text he realised his words had been true. He needed to see her.
Great. I am taking Tom to the nursery and I am on my way.
His lips tugged upwards in a smile. Then he made himself presentable. Aelin had brought him clothes and Evalin had brought some more so slowly and very carefully, he walked to the wardrobe. His right leg still getting used to have weight back on. Once he was done he went back to bed and fixed his ruffled hair. He was nervous. He had said to Evalin that his heart told him to try and that was what he was going to do. Apologise first. Then slowly start to get back to his old life. He knew it was going to be a tough ride but their time apart had increased that tug between them. He was afraid to admit that he had missed her daily visits.
Aelin arrived an hour later and as soon as she walked into his room, his heart raced.
“Hi you,” she said softly, still standing on the door.
He gave her a smile and with his head motioned to the chair. She took the offer and sat in front of him.
“Rowan—” she started but he stopped her.
“No, let me go first, please.”
Aelin nodded and he took a moment to gather his thoughts. This was his chance to right his stupidity.
“I am sorry for what I said.” He told her “but I need you to understand how frightening and overwhelming this is for me.” Pine green eyes met blue “memories have started to trickle back. Some happy some more painful, but they helped me understand us a bit better. When I married you I promised we would face this adventure together.” He took a deep breath “You said that life can be unpredictable and cruel but that at each other’s side we could conquer anything.” He told her grabbing the hand that was on the bed near his leg “what I am trying to say is that if you are happy to take back a husband in less than minted condition, I will be grateful for the help.”
Aelin stood and kissed his forehead “Yeah, yeah I will take you back.” She sobbed hard, standing in front of him.
“This is not going to be easy.
“I know.” She brushed his hair in a loving motion and the gesture felt familiar to Rowan “but our marriage has withstood far worse.”
“I know. I saw a memory of it.”
Aelin sat back down, the smile disappearing from her features “but you fought for us. Even when I was so broken that I was ready to give up everything. You brought us out of the darkness.”
“Yrene said they can let me go home in a couple of days but she needs to know that I have a place where to go.”
Aelin took his hand “you are coming home.”
*
Rowan was in Aelin’s car and together they were driving home.
He had been so nervous that he barely slept. In the past couple of days Aelin had visited whenever she could and had discussed the new challenge ahead. Evalin was going to stay. Thomas would go to nursery but Freyja would stay with her grandma. Rowan had agreed that he could not yet be trusted with being alone with an infant.
He was nervous about meeting their kids; Thomas in particular. He was the one who remembered him the most and did not want to break the boy’s heart.
Aelin had tried to explain to Thomas that his dad had been in hospital and unwell and that his memories had disappeared. Thomas had cried at the sadness of his dad not remembering him. She had told all of that to Rowan.
“I am terrified.”
“Don’t. Acknowledge Thomas, play with him. Even if you don’t remember things just go with it.”
Rowan sighed and then he saw Aelin park in front of a lovely detached house with a garden at the front, a swing set and a tree with a treehouse.
“The tree has a treehouse on it.” He noticed, admiring their house.
Aelin chuckled, “you built it for Tom last year. You two would sleep in there from time to time and pretend to be on some sort of incredible adventure.”
Rowan smiled and then opened the door of the car and grabbed his walking stick. Dorian had assured him that it was time to leave the crutches behind and use the stick. They had practiced together until he was comfortable with it.
Aelin grabbed his bag and joined him “let’s go, mum is making lunch and I am starving.”
“You are always hungry.” He said to her and Aelin stopped in her tracks.
“What did you just say?”
“It just came out, I am sorry.”
She turned fully to him and smiled “you said that to me a lot. Together with complaining about my diet.” She took his free hand “come on buzzard, time to meet our two terrors.”
As soon as they walked into the house and Aelin announced their arrival a little blonde hurricane crashed into him, grabbing his legs “Dad, you are back.”
Rowan looked down and saw his son with his arms wrapped around his legs, green eyes shining with happiness.
His hand brushed his blonde hair “I am.”
“Mum, can I play with him?” The boy asked eagerly grabbing his father’s hand.
“Later, Tom. Dad just got back. Give him some time.”
In that instant he noticed Evalin appear with a girl in her arms “welcome home, Rowan.”
“Thank you, Evalin.” He said, not being able to stare away from the little girl. She was his clone.
Freyja seemed to recognise him and leaned forward, extending her arms to him.
Rowan looked at Aelin almost as if to ask permission and she nodded. He took the girl and sat down on the sofa. Freyja’s head leaned on his shoulder and Rowan’s hand went to her back in a protective gesture. A moment later Thomas joined them and hugged his sister and a bit of his dad.
Aelin sobbed at the scene. They had both been scared. Both worried. Because Rowan had confessed her that hurting the kids was the last thing he wanted. But now looking at that precious moment, she realised they would be fine. Thomas was easy going and Freyja always had a deeper connection with her father. And she knew, from the way Rowan had taken his daughter in his arms that no memory loss would ever took away the bond they had.
“Hi, my love.” He whispered to the girl, inhaling her scent. Freyja snuggled closer. “Come to my side, Tom.” The boy grinned and climbed on the sofa and on his knees he turned to his dad and hugged them again “I missed you, dad.”
“Well, you need to tell me everything you did while I was away.”
Aelin’s hand went to her stomach and smiled tenderly at the man in front of her. He could not yet tell his son he had missed him so he had found a way not to disappoint him.
“Mum, you come too.”
Aelin brushed her tears away and sat on the arm of the sofa just beside Rowan. It was the first time they were that close. Rowan turned his head and stared in the depths of her blue eyes. His eyes moved down to her lips and then back up. That thread between them pulled hard and before he knew it, he was kissing her. His body recognising hers. He pulled away only when he heard Thomas disgusted sounds.
Aelin stared at him with an expression he could not decipher. Maybe she was mad at him for kissing her? But it felt right. In his soul, kissing her had been right.
“You cheeky monkey.” Aelin stood and grabbed Thomas and started tickling him and the boy and Aelin’s laughter was the best music for Rowan’s ears.
*
After lunch was over the kids had gone out for a walk with their grandma and Aelin had given him a tour of the house. Rowan was impressed. They had a lovely house with four bedrooms and spacious enough to welcome a big family.
“You lost your parents when you were 20. They left you a nice stash of money that you never used. When we got married you used that money to buy this house. Our home.”
She sat at his side on the sofa, with a cup of herbal tea in her hands.
“I am sorry I kissed you. I should have asked first. I am sorry.” He looked away embarrassed at his gesture.
Aelin placed the tea on the table then grabbed his face with her hand and turned to him “Ro, you are my husband. You don’t have to ask for permission to kiss me.”
“I know, but I don’t know where we stand on that aspect of us.” He explained looking at her “I don’t know where I stand. I kissed you because it felt right, but I don’t think I can go any further right now.”
Aelin nodded “of course.” That was probably their last big challenge. There was so much to deal with right now that sex was very low on her priority list although her hormones were having another opinion and that kiss had awoken in her the need for him, she had to be patient “but you can kiss me anytime and without asking, if you feel like it.” And winked at him.
He gave her a smirk that was so familiar that for a moment she felt like Rowan was truly back.
She stared into his pine green eyes while her hand was still on his cheek and then she moved and her lips met his and Rowan did not pull away. He just stood for a moment but then his mouth parted and opened for her and Aelin, at the invitation, deepened the kiss feeling the need to connect with him again.
Rowan froze for an instant at the kiss but as she did not move away he let it happen and slowly he melted in the feeling of her lips on his. Aelin’s hand sneaked on his back, pulling him closer and as Aelin deepened the kiss Rowan felt a strange feeling surge in him. Was it passion? It burned in him that strange desire and when Aelin’s tongue brushed his a moan left Rowan and he pulled back, not sure about what was happening between them.
When they pulled apart they were both breathless and Aelin caressed his face and smiled “it looks like this part between us hasn’t changed.”
Rowan lifted an eyebrow and Aelin chuckled “the fire between us. Before we had the kids we sometimes spent entire days off in bed.”
The top of Rowan’s ears turned red and she giggled and kissed him again and Rowan this time did not hesitate and her hands sneaked under his t-shirt and after a few more minutes of their make out session Rowan pulled back and stared deeply at her “you are stunning,” he whispered. He had thought that from the beginning. Rowan leaned back on the sofa and Aelin snuggled closed to his chest, inhaling deeply his scent and his arm went around her back.
“If you are uncomfortable, you tell me.” She said to him, her hand close to his heart.
Rowan shook his head “this feels nice.” His head turned to her “I don’t know how to explain it, but it feels right.”
“Hold me.”
And Rowan pulled Aelin to him, enveloping her in his strong arms.
He thought that perhaps, with her at his side, not everything was lost.
He closed his eyes and welcomed his dreams.

I'm back at it again with children of pro heros, it's just a bunch of poorly put together concepts that I am uncertain how to actually string together in a story line. I did a poll or two on twitter that changed some stuff and I haven't gone back and edited the first half yet whoopsie.
. . .
Pro Hero KiriBaku as parents but they're at the peek of their careers so they're young and stupid
. . .
"Sweet pea, make sure you load the dishwasher this morning." Eijirou hummed as he found his place next to his child on their broken down couch.
"Sure dad." They sighed, eyes still glued to the book in their hands.
"Hey." Katsuki grunted from where he was still pulling on his shoes, "Look at your dad when he's fucking talking to you."
"Katsuki." Eijirou scolded.
"Tch."
Their child closed the book their finger still stuck between the pages. Crimsion eyes that mirrored Katsuki's own stared blankly.
"I was just-" they started.
"I don't want to hear it. Do the damn dishes, I'm going to start the fucking car Ei." Katsuki snarled, slamming the front door of their cozy little home.
"He's just stressed sweet pea." Eijirou whispered running a hand through their caramel brown locks. A muddy combination of Katsuki's own and their mother.
"Dad, does papa love me?" Their candy coloured eyes welled up with tears unable to tear away from the slammed door.
"Of course he does. Oh love, your papa loves you more than anything."
Eijirou shut the door behind him softly. The ticking clock waiting for no one. Villians still ravishing and civilians in need. But his eyes were wet and his shoulders sagged.
"What the fuck happened Ei?" Katsuki hissed in the bubble of their car.
"They don't think," A flood gate of tears had opened then, "They don't think you love them Katsuki."
"What?" Katsuki's voice cracked and his brows scrunched tight, "Of course I do."
. . .
"Papa?" Their voice crackling over the line, "Papa can you hear me?"
"Give me a second champ." His gruff voice echoed back, a series of thuds following it, "Okay. Hello?"
"Hi papa." The choaked out, a nasty sob still caught in their throat.
"What's going on?" Katsuki sighed, sleep still clinging to his speech.
"My, um." His child breathed deeply, "My date left me on the side of the road. I don't have my wallet to call a cab."
"They did fucking what?" Katsuki's near scream awoke the slumbering man beside him.
"Kats? What's going on?" Eijirou grumbled, rubbing at his eyes. Taking in the image of his blurry husband slamming around their room.
"I'm going to fucking kill Kaminari and his asshole kid." Katsuki snarled.
"Papa, no no no. It wasn't Uncle Denki's kid. They were just a cover." Fat tears running down their child's face, "Fuck, papa I lied and I'm sorry."
"Fuck." Katsuki hissed throwing the phone at his calmer half, "Fucking deal with this Ei, be in the car in five."
He threw his phone and stumbled from the room before Eijirou had the chance to fully understand what was happening. His rumbling voice attempting to sooth his precious child while pulling on a sweater.
"Lying, Eijirou." Katsuki slammed his fist against the wheel, his hands crackling in the dark, "They fucking lied to us."
"Katsuki you can't yell at them when we get there. They're scared."
"I'm fucking scared Eijirou, that's my baby." Katsuki choaked out, eyes never leaving the road but an orange glow cast over his features, showing of the flushed frustration and beginnings of tears.
"I know Katsuki. It's going to be okay. We'll get through this together."
. . .
"Okay kids," a faceless woman smiled at the crowd of her young students, "Today we will be making mother's day cards."
"I don't have a momma." The little voice of the Bakugo child called from the back of the room.
"Then imagine what you think your momma looks like." The teacher smiled with a sickeningly sweet expression.
"Dad?" Their little voice called again in the passenger seat of Eijirou's sleek business car once the day had final come to an end.
"What's up bud?" He hummed, glancing over only slightly to take in the heartbroken expression his child wore.
"I don't have a mom." They started slowly.
"No you don't baby, is that a problem? You can always talk to Auntie Mina if you need anything your Papa and I don't know a lot about." Eijirou laughed anxiously.
"I know." They whispered, "Please don't be mad dad."
"Oh sweet heart, why would I be mad?" Eijirou pulled their car into the driveway, eyes trained on the young child he and Bakugo had raised together from the very beginning.
"It's mother's day." They supplied as they handed over the crumpled drawing from class. A cartoon like drawing of Bakugo and Camie stared back at Eijirou and suddenly his chest felt hallow and his cheeks burned with the stale smile he offered.
"Ah. I'm not mad champ."
"Please don't cry dad." Their voice wet with tears mimicking the ones in Kirishima's cherry eyes.
"I'm not. Promise. Go ahead and run in. Tell papa I'll be right there." Eijirou whispered his grip still firm on the paper his child had given him.
It was silly to be so worked up Eijirou chanted to himself. They didn't know better, and their teacher didn't understand. Their little home held one picture of Bakugo and Camie. One that made Eijirou's bones ache. Camie stood with her hand rested over a barely there bump. Katsuki and Eijirou's wedding rings already secure and friendship supposedly the line drawn in the sand between the two blonds. But Eijirou had done the math like a wave washing away the mark. Their precious child had been Katsuki's one and only lapse of loyalty.
"Eijirou." Katsuki was yanking the door open, eyes lost and afraid, "Ei I'm so sorry."
"What?" Eijirou croaked suddenly painfully aware of the tears that tracked down his face and the soiled drawing in his lap.
"I love you." Katsuki whispered with hands too tentative to be his own. The skin jumping with the desire to blast away the pain on his lover's face. It was an old wound, but it stung from time to time. And no amount of nitroglycerin could blow it away. Katsuki had learned it the hard way.
. . .
"Quirkless." Eijirou repeated the doctor, his grip pulling his only child flush to his chest.
"Yes Mr. Bakugo." The woman said with a small smile, "Quite rare these days."
"Dad?"
"Yes sweetie?" Kirishima whispered.
"Does that mean no booms like papa?" They hummed back, big crimsion eyes so unassuming and innocent.
"Yeah baby, no booms." Kirishima sighed, brushing light brown locks from their round little face.
"Then I'll be like uncle Deku!" They cheered, tiny hands clapping and a grin.
"Come on sweet pea, let's go tell papa." Kirishima hummed, trying to avoid the conversation his child was clearly too young to grasp. To explain a secret such as Midoriya would be to destroy hero society when given to a mouth that hardly stays quiet.
The Bakugo child propped up on Eijirou's hip as they strolled through the lobby to DynaRiots up and coming agency. A pointed smile and childish waves directed at everyone who came close enough to the pair. Tiny feet slapping across the floor once they were set down. An excited grin as they dove into the arms of a waiting Katsuki. Strong arms spinning them through the air and a sloppy kiss placed on their forehead beneath caramel bangs brushed back by scared hands.
"Papa papa!" They cheered, "I got no boom booms, cause I'm like Uncle Deku!"
"What?" Katsuki barked out a startled laugh, vermilion eyes darting to Eijirou's own.
"The doctor confirmed my thoughts Kats." Eijirou sighed, a defeated smile over his features.
"I can't wait to tell Uncle Deku and auntie Raka." They continued to celebrate on their papa's lap. A care free smile on their rosy cheeks.
"I love you kid." Katsuki sighed, eyes watery as he hugged their child once more.
"Papa, your beard." They whined, little arms shoving.
"Well, you and Dad better be off then." Katsuki relented, "I'll call Deku and his family for dinner tonight okay champ?"
"Okay papa!"
Eijirou leaned over his husband to share a breif kiss, their hands lingering and gazes full of so many unsaid things.
"She should know too." Eijirou whispered, "Just, wait for me. Okay?"
"Okay." Katsuki agreed easily, placing another kiss on his Husband's jaw and shooing the duo away with a playful rumble of a laugh and snarl.
Shaking hands racing for the phone stored in his desk. His breath uneven and his eyes pinched shut as his emergency contact number two rang an idle sound by his ear.
"Izuku?" Katsuki's voice crackled over the line, distorted and timid.
"Kacchan, are you okay? Where are you, I can be there immediately." Midoriya's rambling tone filled the silences and rekindled the frustration that lived in Katsuki.
"Fuck you Deku I'm fine." Katsuki snapped.
"Oh. Okay." Izuku laughed in that loud way that dominated the room he was in, "What're you calling for?"
"They're Quirkless. And they think that means they're like you." Katsuki grumbled, am odd feeling swelling in his chest, "I don't know what to do."
"What do you mean Kacchan?" Izuku hummed, but with the edge to his voice, Katsuki they both knew why that falling feeling was eating away at Katsuki's heart.
"I'm sorry Deku. For being such an ass. I'm going to get it right this time." Katsuki whispered.
"I know you will Kacchan. I'm not mad at you." Izuku said back, his voice pitching in a way Katsuki knew his cheeks had given way to happy dimples.
"Come to dinner?"
"Course."
. . .
"I'm going to be a hero!" They smiled brightly clinging to Eijirou's leg warm brown hair exploding outward.
"Yeah you will bud." Katsuki smiled at their kid, ruffling their hair before pecking his husband on the cheek, "Are you sure you don't want me to come with?"
"Nah we got it, don't we sweetie?" Kirishima was running a gentle hand through their unruly locks.
"Yeah yeah yeah, dad let's go." They whined growing impatient, "Uncle Denki will beat us there."
"He wasn't even on time to his own wedding." Katsuki snorted, a hand in thick gloves once again messing up the strands Eijirou had corrected.
"Papa stop it." They whined, little fists swinging around to push their father away.
"Yeah papa." Eijirou scolded with a playful frown.
"Alright alright. I'm off to work then. See you for dinner." Katsuki laughed his lips once again finding Eijirou's.
"Gross." They groaned, little fingers lacing with Eijirou's own huge hands, "Dad we gotta go."
"Okay sweet pea, get buckled in the car, okay?"
"Yes!" They clapped, dashing the short distance to their waiting car, "Bye bye papa."
"Bye bye." Katsuki mumbled, glaved hands finding his Husband's, "What are we supposed to tell them?"
"We just support them Kats." Eijirou hummed, leaning up to peck at Katsuki's jaw, "Now get going before you're late and I get an earful."
The park was small and hidden away and the twisting roads of their neighborhood. A little park bench beneath a tree a playground not far. The gentle breeze charged with energy and Eijirou and his child approached Denki and his own. A little face with purple hair that rippled with sparks as they bounced excitedly words falling from their lips.
"Uncle Eiji!" They all but screamed, rubber gloved hands wrapping partially around Eijirou's legs. His skin hardening only slightly against the sporadic spark that sizzled out into the open.
"Hey." Eijirou smiled, "Got your quirk huh? Just like your daddy!"
"Yeah yeah yeah!" Golden eyes darting over to the Bakugo child, "Did you get the boom booms like your papa?"
"Nope! I'm gonna be like Uncle Deku!" They rambled back, a proud smile on rosy cheeks.
. . .
"I want to join the hockey team." Their loud voice booming as soon as they'd kicked open the door.
"What?" Katsuki asked his hands fiddling to turn up the volume of his aids, his first day off cut short. The book in his lap forgotten.
"The hockey team papa. They're holding try outs next week."
"We can talk with your dad tonight then champ." Katsuki grumbled, his hands rubbing at tired red eyes.
. . .
"Camie?" Katsuki grumbled into the phone thrown into the center of the table. The crackled sound of movement echoed through their little kitchen.
Eijirou stood stiffly at the counter, packing a lunch for their kid's field trip tomorrow. Big hands dwarfing the little tupperware.
"Katsuki?" Her purring voice echoed over the line.
"And Eijirou." Kirishima spat out faster than he meant to, his tone sharp and his breath too heavy.
"Shame. What do you need Kats?" Her voice made Eijirou's stomach clench and his heart feel like it was stopping all together It felt like heart break everytime the conversation dragged on longer than necessary.
"Well Ei and I were worried about our baby so Ei took them to the doctor. And we just wanted you to know they're Quirkless." Katsuki breathed out quickly, guilt pulling his muscles taught.
"Well at least they don't have mine. Sure that would be a bitter pill to swallow wouldn't it Ei?" Camie snickered into the line.
"Fuck off." Katsuki snapped, dangerous fingers already ending the call before Eijirou could collect his thoughts.
"Papa? Dad?" Little feet pattered into the kitchen, red eyes tired and confused.
"Oh sorry dear, did we wake you up?" Eijirou cooed, stiff muscles melting away as he scooped them up into his arms.
"Couldn't sleep. Sing me a song Dad?"
"Course champ, come on." Eijirou hummed, his eyes pointedly avoiding Katsuki's own pleading hues as they left the kitchen.
The gravely sound of Eijirou's version of a lullaby drifting through their halls. Katsuki sat on the floor outside the bedroom, waiting for Eijirou. His head tilted back and his chest tight when the singing stopped and loud snores replaced it. Katsuki's socked feet tip toed into the room where Eijirou and their child had squeezed together on their small bed.
"Eijirou, can I lay with you?" Katsuki whispered, hating the nervous tint his voice had taken in the still darkness around them.
An echoing snore his only response from his exhausted husband.
"You can always lay with us Papa." A sleepy voice came after the loud sound.
If he cried it was once the room feel into the static of twin breaths. His front pressed as close to Eijirou as he could, arm thrown across his waist and rubbing his child's back softly.
. . .
"I want them home by 9." Eijirou said sweetly, a practiced smile showing off pointed teeth. A plain faced boy staring back eyes wide and face tinted.
"Yes sir, Red Riot sir." The boy choaked out.
"Good. And Mr. Bakugo is fine. Have fun you two." Eijirou laughed
"Dad, tell Papa I love him." They smiled back, fingers intertwined with the boy from school before they were disappearimg into his parents' car.
Katsuki stormed into the house. Short fuse long sense burned up and eyes still smudged with black paint around his eyes.
"You let them go on a date?" Katsuki bellowed face flushed and eyes hopeless.
"They're 15 Kats." Eijirou hummed, "Besides he was wearing a Red Riot jacket."
"It's worse when you say they went out with one of your groupies Red." Katsuki grumbled, arms crossed.
Eijirou's expression gave way to a bubbling laughter. His eyes scrunched up and shoulders shaking.
"God Katsuki, don't say that."
"It's the fucking truth!"
. . .
They stood with a volleyball tucked beneath the crook of their arm. Short caramel hair pushed back with a plastic white headband and red eyes sparkling and a playful smile on their lips.
"Dad you wanna play with us?" The scar that danced across their lips pulled as they talked, a consequence of simply existing as the child of top pro heros.
The boy from her class smiling neverously, gangly fingers toying at the brace that encased his elbow.
"Hey sweet pea, hanging out with your friend?" Kirishima winked at the duo as he fixed his loose bun of ruby red hair.
"Getting ready to practice serves but we could play doubles instead of you and Papa wanted to." They smiled with all their teeth in more of a challenging smirk.
"I don't want to interrupt your time together champ." Kirishima smiled warmly his gears shrugged off and loose in his hands.
"Its not a problem right bro?" The young bakugo cackled, bumping their hip into the other.
"Of course not Mr Red Riot sir, it would be an honor to practice with you and Mr Dynamite." The boy started to ramble, his pale features flushed with embarrassment.
"Just Eijirou is fine around the house kid." Kirishima's booming laugher filled the air, "I'll go get your papa."
"Thanks Dad!"
Eijirou came back with red hair tied in a tight tail at the top of his head, showing off the black undercut he'd added to his brand fairly recently. Tan skin straining beneath a tight bapck tank top and taco patterned athletic shorts clung to his thighs. The hulking figure of Dynamite in lounge clothes close behind, blond hair pushed back in the same way as his child's.
"Papa, you've still got paint on your face." The scolded lightly, the hand that wasn't holding the volleyball proped against their side perched Itself on their hip.
"Won't stop me from kicking you and your dad's groupie's ass." Bakugo snarled.
"Papa."
"Katsuki." The other Bakugo's scolded, while the school house friend hid his blushing face in his hands.
"I'm sorry Mr. Dynamite sir, but I'm the team captain of the middle school team." The shy boy from before had melted away once the youngest Bakugo had bumped the ball to him.
"Try me fucker." Katsuki laughed, his ego stoked by the boy's insistence on calling him by his hero name.
"He's the best at school." The Bakugo child cheered knees bent and ready to jump spike the ball over the net erected in the Bakugo household front lawn.
"I'm the best at everything twerps."
. . .
That's the end of the first lil bit. With the help of twitter pals I've given the children all names. :) I hope you enjoyed

Hi. Can I please request an one-shot about Lenora confessing to the reader that she's pregnant since the reader and Arvin had a baby while being teens as well? You can decide how it ends. Thank you 🙈🙈
FAMILY
Word Count: 1.6k
Pairing: Arvin Russell x fem!reader; Lenora Laferty x platonic!reader
A/N: unedited!
You stood before the picnic table, arranging the food your mother and Arvin’s grandmother had prepared.
It was Lenora’s birthday today.
She, along with you, Arvin, Charles, your parents, and their grandma had come to the open park just a little out of town to celebrate as per her request.
Arvin had offered a trip to the beach, but Lenora was feeling ill the past couple of days. Instead, she wanted to get some fresh air at the park where the three of you would come hang around and bring Charles with.
Halfway of folding the napkin on your hand, you felt a familiar pair of hands gripped your waist then snaked on your middle, almost making you yelp.
It was Arvin. His chin resting on your shoulder as he took a peek of what you were doing then placed a peck on the bare crook of your neck. His kisses trailing up to your jaw while his thumb drew slow circles on your side.
A giggle escaped your lips which you quickly covered by clearing your throat. “Arvin!” You elbowed his stomach to stop him.
You turned to face him, surprised that he was alone. His deep chuckle resonated in your ear.
When he stepped back, it gave you a chance to look over to the table where Emma and your parents were at. Thankfully, the three of them were busying themselves with Charles — yours and Arvin’s one year old toddler.
Your eye also spotted Lenora who was sitting at the foot of an oak tree. Her back resting on the wide trunk while she faced the scenic view of Ohio.
“Lenora wanted to talk to you.” He announced, his hands still resting at the low of your back.
“About what?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. She won’t tell.” His voice laced with concern, brows pulled together, head tilting to the side from confusion. Arvin was obviously troubled with Lenora’s sickly demeanor the past couple of days.
You brought a finger to his crumpled skin between his brows to straighten them. “I’ll go talk to her. Don’t worry about it.”
Arvin sighed before nodding.
“Would you mind finishing this up? So, our birthday girl could eat after we talk, maybe Lenora’s just hungry.”
“Of course not.” He slid his hand with yours, giving it a squeeze before finally letting you go. “Please, make sure she’s alright.”
You nodded, giving back the squeeze.
When you approached Lenora, she had her eyes closed — her head leaning against the wood. You sat beside her quietly as not to disturb her.
It was a beautiful bright day today. The sun was out but it wasn’t glaring down at you. The breeze was refreshing, not too cold nor too hot. The sounds of the birds chirping above the branches, the wind rustling the leaves, and the gleeful voices of your family from the distance hang around the air.
From Lenora’s stature, you thought she was asleep, but you felt her fingers interlaced with yours. Her head falling to rest on your shoulder. You let yours sit on top of hers.
Peaceful silence enveloped the two of you until the girl beside you broke the silence.
“Y/N...” She started; her tone sounded like she was hesitating. It piqued your curiosity. Lenora was quiet but once she spoke, she was certain. You let her take her time, not wanting to pressure her into talking. From the way her hand shook a bit, it was evident that she was a bundle of nerves. “What did it feel like when you first found out about Charles?”
Her sudden question took you aback. Your brows shoot up, blinking a couple times before answering. “Very frightening, to say the least. It was the first time I had missed my period and felt very sick. I thought I had caught something bad.” You chuckled as you recalled.
Now that you thought about it, this was the first time you and Lenora are talking about your pregnancy as odd as it is. The both of you weren’t that close until you ran away to the Russells’ out of fear from your parents’ reaction.
That’s when your tightly knitted friendship with Lenora bloomed. She was there for you and Arvin the whole time. Anything you needed; she’d do if she could. Lenora cared deeply not only for Arvin, but for you as well. You never had siblings and you found one in her.
Lenora never forced herself into anything during your pregnancy. She knew it was a difficult time for you and Arvin. She never asked but she was there. Always.
You owed a lot to her.
“What was the first thing on your mind?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. It was a flood of thoughts and emotions. I cried for nights, thinking how I would tell my parents... and Arvin. Oh, Lord. Believe it or not, it was Arvin’s reaction I was most afraid of.”
“Really? Why?”
“Mhmm.” You shrugged. “I guess I thought if my parents disowned me, I would have no one to turn to. The two of us weren’t close then I couldn’t come to you yet.”
Lenora let out a soft chuckle, bringing your intertwined hands on her heart — placing her other hand on top of it.
“Why’d you ask—” You cut yourself short, your head shot up as an idea popping in your mind.
No, it can’t be. There’s no way.
Her hands were now visibly shaking. When she turned to look at you, you caught the silent tears streaming down her cheeks.
Your eyes doubled in size as you stared at her, waiting for her confirmation.
“Y/N...” She shook her head. “I’m pregnant.”
“Oh.”
Lenora ran the back of her free hand on her damp upper lip. “That ain’t the reaction I was hoping for, but it was better than what I was expecting.” She pointed a weak smile at your mouth that hung open.
“This must be the feeling when you found out I was pregnant.” You muttered, still unable to think of what to say.
“So, you’re happy?”
You grinned at her. You took your hand from your hold and grabbed her pale cheeks on your hand. “Is that why you were feeling ill the past few days?”
She nodded.
“Do you know how long?”
“Almost 3 months.” She replied sheepishly. “Y/N, I’m scared...”
You opened your arms, allowing her to fall into your embrace. She cried in your arms, knowing the fear that would run in her veins from being in her position just from nearly two years ago.
“I understand.” You whispered in her ear.
“How am I going to tell grandma? Uncle Earskell? Arvin?! He’s goin’ to be mad!”
“That’s true.”
She cried harder from your response.
“We’re young. We’re supposed to enjoy our youth while we can and having a child is a big responsibility for someone who’s not even an adult herself.”
“What if the Russells throw me away? I have no family no more, Y/N!” She hiccuped.
“Hey.” You comfortingly rubbed a hand on her back. “They certainly won’t take it easy at first but they’re your family. They won’t be able to resist their Lenora. I witnessed myself how they truly cared for you like their own blood, especially Arvin. They’ll understand.”
Lenora’s tight arms around you loosen a bit, her sobs calming down, but you continued to rub her back.
When you were in her position, you had no friend to comfort you. All those close to you, you were afraid of telling. You knew how someone like Lenora needed somebody, even if it was just an embrace.
“For what it’s worth, your family,” You emphasized the last two words before proceeding. “Took me in with open arms without question. A girl they have never met before until she came knocking on their door, knocked up. What more you?”
A snicker came from her which put up a smile on your face. She rose to level with your face. “Thank you, Y/N. I’m glad you’re here.”
“Remember, you have been with me for the most vulnerable months of my life? And I will be with you. Even in your strongest. That goes without saying.”
A genuine smile finally crept on her face, eyes chinking — your favorite kind. You discreetly let out a sigh of relief and mentally pat yourself on the back. It wasn’t a lot but you’re glad she somehow felt relieved.
“You welcomed me in your life. There’s no way you’re getting rid of me. I’ll be with you every step of the way, alright?”
“That’s comfortin’ to know.”
“Good.” You pulled her on your chest once more as the two of you shared a chuckle.
“Hey! What’s takin’ you so long?” Arvin’s head poked from your side of the tree.
You felt Lenora wiped her cheeks dry in your arms before pulling away and flashed Arvin a smile like nothing happened.
Arvin forwarded then stepped between the two of you two squeeze in, making a room of herself. His left arm draping over Lenora’s shoulder, his right grabbing your waist to pull you closer.
“Seems like the two of you havin’ serious talk, what’s it about?” He arched a brow.
Lenora’s sudden wide eyes met with yours. You rewarded her a meaningful smile.
“It’s nothing.” You chirped then looked away.
“Oh, you’re keepin’ secrets from me now?” His eyes darted from you to Lenora then back at you again. Then tickled your side, making your squeal and squirm.
Lenora sniffled then pulled Arvin’s ear toward her. “We’re just happy the family’s gettin’ bigger.”
“What’s that supposed to mean—Wait, are you pregnant?”
You and Lenora froze in your spot but quickly recovered when Arvin turned to you.
“No!” You said quite defensively, pinching his side.
“Darn it!” He remarked jokingly then pulled the both of you in an embrace and gifting you each a kiss on the forehead.

Always have (Always Will)
Summary: A one-shot revolving around the events after the war where Harry attempts to reconcile with Ginny after months being away from each other. But it turns out to be harder than he thought because everything... everything between them seems to have changed. Read it on Fanfiction if you prefer.
...
It always looked different at night. Even without the glasses, everything had an unfamiliar slant to it. Shadows seemed to dance across the room, disappearing as light coming through the cracks touched them.
Harry stood in the shadows, leaning against the wall as he watched Ginny cradling Teddy, gently coaxing him to sleep. Moonlight trickled in through the windows, lighting up her face as she smiled ever so faintly, gently bending down and kissing Ted on his forehead.
She looked beautiful, Harry couldn't help but notice. Her hair was shorter since the last time he'd seen here. Actually seen her. In the dwindling light of the moon, he felt like a painter looking at a canvas. But unlike a painter, he'd never seen the colors as one did.
Except with her.
Teddy gently cooed in his sleep as Ginny laid him on his bed and turned on his side, clutching his blanket. Harry smiled as he watched Ginny reach out and brush his hair away from his face, before taking a seat beside the young boy.
Harry wanted to talk to her. The war was over now, completely and utterly over and he could finally, finally go back to her again. All he had wanted since he'd seen her — battered and bruised on the stairs — was being with her again. Kissing her the way he had in the Gryffindor Common Room. It felt as if it had been forever ago, yet the memories of him breaking it off soon after was still fresh in his mind.
Ginny had looked at him with such pride back then, with an expression that conveyed her love, yet told him that she understood. He had been wanting to talk to her ever since, but it never seemed as if she was ever alone; and when she was, there was never a right moment.
A moment. That's all he wanted. Or maybe he wanted more. He honestly didn't know.
Harry took in a deep breath and stepped forward, determined to finally get a chance to speak to her. Ask her if she wanted him back. Because for him, he and Ginny were always meant to be.
He stopped in his tracks as Ginny turned briefly, and the moonlight fell on her face again. He watched as a stray tear made its way down her cheek, and she hastily brushed it off before more started falling.
He watched her bite her lip till it drew blood, watched as she buried her head in her hands, watched as she tried her hardest to stop her tears.
And then he felt his hand shaking. He was such an idiot. The funeral was tomorrow, and he couldn't believe he had thought of having such a conversation on its eve.
He choked back a sob. All reserve had worn off, and he slowly inched back, his throat clogged with the tears he was trying to keep inside. It hurt, it hurt so much, but this time, he couldn't discern where the pain was.
He stepped out of the room, his glasses brimming with tears. Not for the first time, he realized that it was not only Fred who had died; there were so many others. Teddy-Teddy had lost his parents too. Another young boy had lost his parents that night. And it felt as if it was on him.
How could Ginny possibly take him back when he was responsible for her brother's death?
...
Three weeks and five days.
Three weeks and five days had passed since the funeral, three weeks and five days since that night. Harry had lost all resolve ever since, forever looking for the right moment, but there never seemed to be one. Until now. Even so, he probably would have never found the nerve, hadn't Hermione pushed him to meet her and do what he had wanted to do since he'd seen her a month back.
The wind chimes tinkled as the door swung open and a cold gust of wind rushed into the shop. Harry raised his head expectantly, his heart hammering in his chest as he searched for bright brown eyes he felt he could get drunk on any day and as he met them, he realized with a sinking feeling that they no longer had that twinkle he so fondly identified them with.
Ginny looked at him, right at him, and her eyes softened into a look he couldn't recognize. He watched her hesitate as she brushed back a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
"Gin." Harry put the book he had been holding back in its place and let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"Hey Harry," Ginny replied.
Both of them looked at each other, yearning to break the silence, yet afraid to do so.
"Bit awkward, isn't it?" Harry blurted out before he could stop himself and cringed, his nails digging into his palm.
"Blame the situation," Ginny muttered before sighing. "What are you doing here Harry?
"I was just looking around," he replied. "For books." He smiled as Ginny chuckled, and even though both their smiles looked positively forced, he couldn't help but marvel — for what was the billionth time now — how exhilarating it was talking to her.
Deep inside, he knew this was right. Even if his guilt over what happened still lingered, Ginny had to be with him after all of it.
"This is a bookshop you know Harry? See, Flourish and Blotts, big, ugly letters on the door." Ginny smirked and pointed at the doorway, her eyes on him the entire time.
"I know," Harry replied hurriedly. "Gin, can we… can we talk?"
Ginny froze, a look of uncertainty on her face.
"We are talking," she said finally and Harry looked at her, his eyes begging her to understand.
"I know what you're trying to say," she sighed, "we'll talk. Where-where do you suppose we go?"
"Anywhere," Harry replied. "Sorry, umm… can we—"
"We can talk here if you want," Ginny offered, hastily brushing back her hair again. "No one's going to come here, at least at this time anyway."
Harry nodded and opened his mouth, shutting it again. He saw Ginny looking at him intently before walking past him towards the back corner of the room where there was a stack of books arranged haphazardly in a way such that one nudge was enough to get it toppling to the ground. But it was secluded, and it was quiet and it would give them the needed privacy to talk.
Harry followed her, walking at a steady pace. He had no idea how to approach her. His sole intent on entering the shop was to see her again, talk to her face to face. The past three weeks he'd noticed her avoiding him every other moment, and his heart had broken bit by bit every time she did. But truth be told, he had been no different. For the past three weeks, he'd been the one avoiding anything and everyone, always at Hogwarts, always working on the renovations.
Now that he finally had the chance, Harry didn't know how to approach her. Would she still be interested? Did she want things between them to go back to how they were?
Ginny, he realized, had been the best source of comfort he had had in a long time. She was one of the few people who made him happy, a feeling almost no one had ever given him before. She was one of the most important people in his life, and he couldn't imagine it without her.
"I still love you," Ginny said abruptly, breaking Harry out of his trance.
"I know love is a strong word and everything, but I do. I love you," she continued, her eyes refusing to meet his. "I'm just unsure whether you still do."
"I do! I love you, Gin. I just want everything between us to go back to how they were."
Ginny smiled, her eyes filling with tears, and Hary wanted nothing more than to brush them away. "It's normal to feel like that, Harry," she said, "to-to wish that everything could be the same again, but things change with time and—"
"This is real Gin, for me. I swear."
Ginny shook her head dejectedly. "It's all I've ever wished for. Us being together. Since first year even, if you ask some," she laughed bitterly and Harry felt a sinking feeling that had become a constant over the years. "I don't think it's going to work out now."
"Why?" Harry asked desperately, trying to grasp the situation. He didn't understand; he was so sure they'd be together once they talked it through.
"You went through a war, Harry. Your feelings are all over the place. We… we won't work out, and then I'll be devastated, you'll… you'll blame yourself, try to pull everyone but yourself together. It's not fair to both of us." Ginny looked away, brushing off tears, her hand shaking as she let it fall to the side.
Harry reached out but then let his arm fall by his side. "Tell me how to make this right, Gin. Please." His voice shook, his shoulders sagging in defeat.
"I'm sorry," Ginny whispered and stepped back, tears trickling out of her eyes as she rushed out of the store.
Harry stood in the shop, his feet fixated to the floor, unable to move.
She was wrong. She was. Ginny had been the last thing in his mind before the killing curse. The last lingering thought before his momentous death. He loved her, why would she ever think otherwise?
He rushed towards the shop door, yanking it open as he ran towards her petite figure rushing past an alley. The cold wind pricked his face, but nothing seemed to matter anymore. He caught Ginny's hand and whirled her around, making her look right into his eyes.
"You don't get to walk away like that, Gin, okay? I already let you do it once and I had no choice then, but I have choice now and I'm not letting you do it again."
"No."
Harry recoiled as if he had been slapped, his eyes searching for a feasible answer.
"Listen to yourself, Harry! You're doing the same thing you did back in your fifth year. Acting like everything was perfectly fine when it's not. You're hiding your emotions, trying to cover them up with things like this!" Ginny yelled.
"Things like this? I am trying to fix our relationship, Ginny! I'm trying to mend something special we had back then," Harry yelled back, frustrated.
"You can't fix everything! If you have to fix something, then it means it's broken. And you're not trying to fix this; this is your way of hiding all the trauma you're feeling right now. You're using me as a cover-up, as something to get you by and frankly, that's a little low of you!"
"I'm not using you, Ginny. I love you—"
"Then prove it! Tell me you don't feel guilty, tell me you're not blaming yourself right now for every bloody thing in the world!" Ginny broke off, chest heaving, hair flying wildly across the face. "I know you do. And even though people keep telling you that it's not your fault, you refuse to believe it."
Harry froze. It was petrifying hearing Ginny's words, for they were painstakingly true. They were the same ones he had been telling himself for the past two months, even though he never wanted to admit it.
He glanced at Ginny and then let his eyes fall, his heart constricting at the look of pity on Ginny's face. He couldn't blame her. He was exhausted, defeated. His hair was disheveled, he had dark circles under his eyes. He knew he looked pathetic. He felt pathetic.
"For once in your life, Harry, be selfish. Let yourself face what you're feeling." Ginny reached forward, her hand uncurling his fingers digging into his palm. "You've done enough."
"Gin, I—"
"We have forever to think of us. Don't... don't ruin this... don't ruin what we have just because you think you know your feelings right now. You've gone through hell and back. Don't… please don't project them in the form of love for me."
He felt her hands travel up and cup his face, forcing him to look into her eyes. "It's okay, Harry, it really is," she said, "you do what you have to do to get yourself together. You understand me?"
He nodded and let the tears flow, his chest heaving as he felt her fingers brushing away the tears streaking down his face. He watched her as she stepped back, smiling sadly. "I'll wait, don't worry."
"Wait, Gin-" he called and Ginny stopped. "I-I don't want you to go."
"Who said anything about going?" Ginny said and Harry closed his eyes as he felt her lips brush against his cheek. "When you're ready, I'll be here. I promise."
He nodded and opened his eyes to see her stepping away, but this time, it didn't hurt as much as it did back then. Because this time, he knew Ginny'd be there. She always did.
"None of this is your fault, Harry. Don't, please don't do anything rash to correct what you think you've done wrong. If not for you, then for me."
"I won't," Harry whispered as he heard footsteps grow silent. And he meant it. He wouldn't do it, he'd done enough. He'd done whatever he could do.
And for the first time in his life, Harry just let go. For the first time in his life, he felt himself stop fighting against everything around him. For the first time, he just stopped struggling. For Ginny had saved him in a way no one would have been able to, and even though it was a small, small part of him that believed it was finally over, it'd have to do.
It would have to be enough for now.
...
It was evening, the sky blazing with the setting sun. The clouds were a shade of pink one couldn't really explain, hiding the golden yellow sun behind them.
Ginny sat on the floor, sorting through her books, the only things left for her to pack. Seventh year at Hogwarts had a heavy curriculum, one she was not looking forward to, especially after everything that had happened.
She perked up as she heard a knock, and the door opened softly, thudding against the books by the door.
"Gin, hey can I come in?" a familiar voice asked and Ginny hurriedly got off the floor, yanking the door open. There was only one person who called her that and she smiled as she saw the boy in front of her. Tousled hair and green eyes that reminded her of the sea on a stormy day; it had been a long time since she had seen the sparkle in them.
"Hey Harry," she smiled as she held the for open for him to walk in.
Harry stepped inside the room, careful as to not tread on the books lying around. "I see you've almost packed," he observed, an innocent smirk on his face.
"Ha ha, very funny," Ginny shot back, "I honestly can't get myself to sort through all of these and the list seems endless."
Harry chuckled and settled down on the ground, cross-legged, picking out a rather large book from the bunch. It felt good, talking to Ginny with such ease, without worrying about anything around them. He cleared his throat before reading from the list. "Miranda Goshawk's Standard Book of Spells, Part Seven? You'd think they'd stop making us learn these."
"McGonagall's headmistress. If it was up to her, she'd add a few more on the list. And it is up to her."
The two shared a glance before bursting out in laughter. Ginny looked at Harry from the corner of her eye, smiling as she saw the change he had gone through; he no longer had that dull, sunken look in his eyes, nor the impression of carrying an unexplainable burden.
"Well, now that you're here, you should very well help me with this."
"Where do you want me to start?" Harry replied without missing a beat and Ginny smiled.
"Just help me find the books, I'll put them in later."
Harry leaned forward, fishing out the parchment and scanning it, his glasses slightly slipping down his nose. Ginny smiled and hastily looked down as Harry glanced at her over the top of the paper.
"Advanced Transfiguration, have you got that?"
Ginny looked around the room, getting up and shuffling through the bundle. "Yeah, got it."
Harry nodded, before going to the next item, helping Ginny look through the mound. He glanced at her, his mind straying towards the conversation they had had in front of Flourish and Blotts. It had been four months since, but Ginny's words had jerked him out of his trance and for the first time, he had gladly taken the chance to escape from everything around him.
He thought it'd be impossible, finding closure, finding relief from the guilt he carried over all those who had died in the war. But he had, and it had been worth it when he came back from Grimmauld Place, only to be enveloped in Ginny's arms.
They hadn't attempted to rekindle their relationship; both of them afraid to approach the other. And Harry missed it. Short lived though it had been, being with Ginny had been one of the best feelings in the world. Those four months by himself had proved that. They had proved that he needed Ginny in his life, that he needed her small fire that kept him going, that comforted him yet wasn't hesitant in calling him out when he did something stupid. He loved her, and though love was a strong word, it felt as if it wasn't strong enough.
Harry took in a deep breath, before gently placing his hand over Ginny's. "I'll miss you," he said as Ginny looked at him.
She smiled, her fingers entwining with his as if it was second nature. "I'll miss you too."
They looked at each other for a few moments, before Ginny shifted, looking around nervously.
"Gin, I love you," Harry said, slightly hesitating before he continued, "I know the last time I said it, it didn't seem to be true, but I swear that this time it is. I love you, Ginny."
They looked at each other for a few seconds before Ginny let out a breathless laugh, leaning forward impulsively, Harry's arms slipping around her waist as she kissed him.
Her hands tangled in his hair as their lips collided together in a kiss they'd both craved since a year and a half of being apart. It was long and it was passionate and it conveyed emotions that had been buried inside for so long. And it was one that had been long overdue.
They broke off seconds later, Ginny pulling back slightly before resting her forehead on Harry's. She smiled, softly laughing as a few tears trickled down her face, this time, brushed away by his nimble fingers.
"God, I've been waiting for you to say that for so long," she said and she laughed and if Harry could have bottled that sound and got drunk on it every night, he would have. "I love you Harry, I love you so damn much and-and—"
"Shh," Harry said, and pressed his lips on hers again. "It's my turn," he said, "and I think that part of me has belonged to you since as long as I can remember and that part has just grown and grown until it's overcome me completely. I'm yours, Gin, if you'll have me."
"And I thought you were a dork," Ginny said and Harry laughed and smiled as Ginny kissed him with all the fervent and passion she had had earlier. "I think you've got my answer."
"I think I do," he said as he pressed his lips against Ginny's forehead.
And he was happy. He was happy and he was right where he belonged. And he didn't want it to be anywhere else.

“It was a good start The ups and downs, themselves Before I knew it, we grew tired With meaningless emotional drains”
For the longest time, Min Yoongi was just a friend. The boy next door. You went together to elementary school, middle school, and now high school. For the longest time, he was just that.
It wasn't until you were in your late teens, that he asked you out. Occasional greetings turned into walking to school together, multiple study sessions, and a few dates.
For the first date, he took you to the park for a picnic. He prepared the entire picnic basket himself, even making fresh sandwiches and some raspberry lemonade. Laying the pleated yellow blanket on the emerald grass, he motioned for you to sit first, like a true gentleman.
“Thanks, Yoongi. It looks delicious,” you smiled at him, pushing a strand of your hair behind your ear. Squinting against the sunlight, you decided to move to the side, so your back would face the sun.
Yoongi took a seat across from you, flashing you a gummy smile before pulling out the paper plates and arranging the meal.
“I made some Caprese sandwiches. I hope you'll like them.”
Taking a big bite, you sighed at the taste, the familiar flavor melting on your tongue.
“They're really good, Yoongi. I love them. Didn't know that you could cook,” you beamed, the light breeze making your hair flutter around your neck.
At that moment, Yoongi knew he was in love. The laughs and giggles, the wide smiles, and your sparkling eyes looking at him like that. He felt like he found paradise. You gulped down the rest of the sandwich, not forgetting to compliment him and thank him for preparing them.
Sipping the fruity lemonade, you sighed, closing your eyes and looking up. A few fluffy clouds graced the clear blue sky. Yoongi got up, walking in the directions of the flower field, leaving you behind on the blanket.
“I'm just going to get some flowers,” he explained upon seeing the confusion on your face. Your frown disappeared, a boisterous laugh leaving you as you waved to him.
“Come back soon, Yoongs.”
Roughly ten minutes passed by, and you were starting to get worried. You contemplated running after him, to make sure everything was okay, but you didn't have to. Yoongi was pacing back to you, his hands behind his back, almost as if hiding something.
“Whatcha got there?” you questioned, excitement bubbling in your heart.
Yoongi's heart fluttered, cheeks reddening at the display. He slowly pulled his hand from behind his back, revealing a small flower crown.
You gasped with glee, looking up at him with glazing orbs. “I-Is that f-for me?”
Rather than answering the question, Yoongi chose to place the delicate wreath on your head. It felt like centuries have passed, by the time you have calmed your racing heartbeat.
After that, you guys walked to the empty playground. At some point, Yoongi's hand softly gripped yours, and you had to stop the urge to squeal.
His hand was much bigger than yours, easily engulfing your palm in his own, as he swayed them back and forth. Reaching for the gate, he opened it, letting you in.
You walked to the old seesaw in the back, the yellow paint chipping off after years of usage. With a laugh, you sat down, Yoongi walking to the other side and doing the same. Taking turns, you pushed yourselves off the ground in short intervals, laughing and chatting.
Yoongi told you about his dream, how he wanted to pursue music in life, even if everybody around him told him not to. It was hard to make it in the industry, with no promise of a stable career in the future.
But you encouraged him. Told him how he should pursue his dream, do what his heart longed for. He was delighted, you have been the first person to show outright support when it came to this passion of his. The serotonin was high when he realized that you said you would stand by him till the end.
After that, he walked you home as the moon lit up your path. The night was chilly, so after he noticed you shiver, he immediately threw his denim jacket over your shoulders and rubbed comforting circles on your hand.
You tried to protest, telling him that you were fine, that you didn't want him to freeze, but he dismissed it with a wave of his hand.
Arriving at your place, you were sad that the day came to an end. Yoongi has let go of your hand and you were walking up the steps but before you stepped inside, you turned around and quickly pecked him on the cheek.
Your cheeks flooded with warmth as you whispered a quiet “goodnight” before storming inside. Yoongi stood in front of your door for a few minutes, glued to the pavement before he was able to leave. His mind was still hazy from the kiss you gave him and he realized he wanted more.
---
It took three more dates before he officially asked for you to be his girlfriend. He grabbed your hand while in a restaurant, looking you in the eye and telling you how much he enjoyed your company and wanted to be able to call you his and spend more time with you.
You instantly agreed, chest filling with warmth as a wave of giddiness crashed over you.
Everything was going so well, the two of you going on weekly dates, texted all day, and even had study sessions together.
This went on for almost a year. It felt like your life was complete, you had everything you could possibly long for. Things were going great with Yoongi.
Until they weren't.
“Repeated seesaw game Now, I'm so sick of this Repeated seesaw game We're getting sick and tired of each other”
It seems like good things aren't meant to last. Bit by bit, the relationship the two of you have carefully built, was crumbling. Falling apart.
Weekly dates turned into monthly ones, Yoongi being all closed up in the studio, working on tracks until ungodly hours. You tried to speak to him, remind him to take breaks, occasionally even visiting him and bringing him dinner.
But it felt like he was shutting you out. Any attempt to mend your relationship felt futile. But you weren't prepared to give up. To give up on him. Not when everyone else around him has already done so.
You texted him. Told him to meet you at the playground. That if he wouldn't show, you personally go to the studio and make a scene.
He agreed, promising he'll be there. You felt a pang in your chest when you heard how tired he was. Someone had to make sure this boy wouldn't burn himself out.
You sat on the seesaw. The exact same one you and Yoongi were on almost a year ago. But it wasn't the same without him. Five minutes have passed. Ten. Twenty.
You were beginning to worry. Where was he? What if he didn't show? He was almost half an hour late at this point. You felt tears prick at the corner of your eyes, slowly standing up to leave in shame.
But then a running Yoongi came into view. He sprinted across the grass, bursting through the playground gate and stopping right in front of you. Bending down and placing his hands on his knees, he panted heavily before looking up.
His eyes.
They caught you by surprise. It has been ages since you last stared into his chocolate brown orbs. You could see the unshed tears welling up in them.
“I have something to show you,” he whispered.
“Were the petty arguments the start? The moment I became heavier than you Because there have never been parallels in the first place Maybe it was my greed trying to match myself with you If it was love, and if this is what love means Is there really a need to keep repeating ourselves We're tired of each other, yet seem to be holding the same cards Well, then”
He pulled out his phone, swiping it open before clicking on something. An unfamiliar melody sounded in the vast night, lyrics that you heard for the first time, yet still felt as if you knew them by heart. After the track finished, Yoongi pocketed his phone, slowly looking up, waiting for your reaction.
When he saw none (you were too stunned by hearing him sing for the first time), so he started to explain.
“I- I know things have been going downhill with us. And I wanted to apologize, it's mostly my fault. I kept locking myself up in the studio, completely neglecting you and overall just acting like a dick-”
You laughed at that, making Yoongi smile.
“-it has been rocky, but I still love you. I came late because I was adding some finishing touches to the song. I guess I needed to get it out of my system. But in the meantime, I remembered why you mean so much to me. And I wanted to ask you - would you be willing to give us another chance?”
He looked up to you, shaking the hair off his forehead. His eyes shone with guilt, hope, and longing.
“I- I think we could try again,” you stammered, “but no more shutting me out. Understood?”
“Yes.”
--
This brought you here. Three months later. The both of you were sitting on the seesaw, reminiscing about how you sat here for the first time, over a year ago. The seesaw has become your safe space, you'd go there after every argument, achievement, or when you just felt like annoying parents who thought you two had no business on the playground.
“There's no turning back”
a/n: hope you liked it. feel free to let me know your thoughts. stay safe ✨

Auston and Amelia, where Amelia meets him home town friends
- Amelia meeting Auston friends from AZ for the first time
A.N. Hello! This was requested like ages ago and I had started to write it but never got around to finishing it. Then it got requested again so I decided to stop being lazy and finish it. I’m really happy with how this turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well. I also want to say that I don’t actually know who any of Auston’s friends are from Arizona so I made all of them up.

“Auston we are having tacos tonight. Is that all right?” Ema asked as she turned the sink off and turned around to face the two of us as we sat at the kitchen table. The two of us had made it out for the weekend because Auston had a game on Friday but the next two days off. I had flown out on my own to meet Auston here and we were staying at his house but were spending most of our free time at his parents.
“Amelia and I are meeting some of my friends for drinks and food so we won't be here,” Auston said, looking away from me to her. She nodded her head before turning her attention to me with a small smile.
“Oh alright! Which friends?” she asked as she hung the towel on the rack before making her way over to join us at the table.
“Clayton, Matt, Brady, and Chucky. Some of their girls too,” Auston listed off. His mother nodded her head understandably. This was going to be my first time meeting any of Auston’s friends and I was extremely nervous.
“Oh how have they been?” she asked, clapping her hands together. He smiled at her as he started talking.
“Yeah they have been good, Clay’s been talking about this new job he has and he’s pretty happy with it. Says it pays pretty well,” he said running his hand through his hair.
“Oh that’s wonderful for him. Amelia, they are lovely people, it'll be fun for you,” Ema reassured me, reaching her hand out across the table and tapping my fidgeting hands. I smiled gratefully at her.
“Yeah I’m excited they sound like great people,” I smiled at the two of them as I reached up to tuck my hair behind my ear.
“What time are you guys going?” she questioned as she glanced down at her watch.
“Eh we should probably leave soon we said we'd meet at 6:30,” Auston mumbled as he glanced at the clock.
“Did you want to stop at mine first or are you good to go from here?” Auston asked, turning his attention to me. I thought about it for a moment before shrugging my shoulders.
“I should be fine but is there any chance I could borrow a sweater?” I asked, glancing between the two. I didn’t really care who gave me the sweater as I could borrow one.
“Yeah I have something in my room I’m sure,” Auston pushed himself up from his chair to go get it.
“Wait honey. I might have something better for her,” Ema said standing up and placing a hand on Auston’s arm to stop him from moving. She walked over to the closet that was in the hall near the front door and opened it up to pull out a black leather jacket. She walked back over to the two of us and held it out to me. She handed it over and I stood up to try it on. It was a bit longer and oversized then my normal leather jackets but it looked cute so I smiled happily at her.
“Thank you,”
“Oh it’s no problem, I’ve had it forever and don't wear it too often,” she grinned as she turned to face Auston again.
“I will get to see you tomorrow right?” she asked, him reaching out for a hug. He nodded his head as he hugged her back.
“Yeah we're going to come over for lunch before our plane,” Auston mumbled to her. Once they were done hugging she pulled away from him and turned to me to pull me into a hug. I hugged her back as tight as she held me and relaxed into the hug.
“Just call if you guys need anything,” Ema said to the two of us as she pulled away from our hug. I smiled sweetly at her as I followed Auston to the front door. We slipped our shoes on and then said our final goodbyes before making our way out the door.
“Babe,” Auston called out to me once we were outside of the house. I hummed as I looked up at him. He pulled me against his side as he led me to the car with an arm on my back.
“You excited?” he asked with a teasing grin. I felt myself pale slightly as I tried to nod back enthusiastically. He laughed lightly while opening the door for me. As I went to step into the car he pressed a kiss to my cheek causing me to blush bright red.
“I’m nervous,” I admitted as he went to close the door. He quickly made his way around the car and got in.
“Nervous for what?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as he buckled. I did the same as I shrugged my shoulders. I couldn’t place exactly what had made me so nervous to meet them other than the fact that I was meeting important people to Auston.
“What if they don’t like me?” I finally asked quietly over the sounds of Harry Styles singing on the radio. He had already started driving so he kept his eyes on the road as he answered me.
“That won’t be a problem. I don’t know anyone who doesn't like you,” he smiled trying to reassure me as he reached his hand out for mind and locked them together over the center console.
“But like what if they think I’m annoying or like not the right one?” I asked louder this time. His face scrunched up for a moment before his hand gave mine a gentle squeeze.
“Not the right one?” he asked with a high voice causing me to giggle slightly.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged, turning to look out the window feeling slightly embarrassed. Auston pulled into the parking space before turning to look at me.
“Listen babe. You're perfect, I know and they will too. You have absolutely nothing to worry about, they'll love you like I do,” Auston told me seriously, causing me to blush as he gave my hand another squeeze.
“Thanks,” I smiled at him. He grinned before leaning forward to press a kiss to my forehead.
“Ready to go?” he asked when he pulled away. I glanced out the window quickly before turning back to him and pulling him into a quick kiss. Then I pulled away and nodded my head as I reached for the door and hopped out. We met at the front of the car and Auston grabbed my hand as he led us to the host stand.
“Hi reservation under the name Lexi?” Auston told the host. She looked down at the list before looking back up at us.
“Yeah they are already at the table you can follow me,” she smiled before leading us over to the table of almost 10 people. I felt myself sink further into Auston’s side as all the people at the table turned to look at us.
“Papi made it,” someone with shaggy brown hair called out standing up from the table and walking over to us. He pulled Auston into a big hug causing him to let go of me, leaving me standing to the side awkwardly. I looked over the rest of the table which was a mix of guys and girls when suddenly I recognised one of the guys.
“Amy?” Kyle asked standing up from the table. I shared a shocked look with him as I waved shyly.
“You two know each other? Auston asked, pulling away from his hug and giving us a confused glance. I looked at Kyle before turning my attention back to Auston.
“Um uh yeah,” I coughed trying to hide how awkward I felt.
“Really that's cool I’m Kyle's girlfriend, Beth,” A beautiful brunette said standing up to hug me. I laughed awkwardly as I hugged her back.
“Oh awesome,” I turned back to Auston hoping the topic would change. Unfortunately I am not that lucky.
“How do you two know each other?” Beth asked, slipping her hand around Kyle’s waist. I scratched at the back of my neck as I tried to come up with something to say.
“We went to high school together,” Kyle answered for the both of us.
“And we dated,” I continued awkwardly. I watched as everyone at the table shared a look of shock before turning my attention back to Auston who also had a look of disbelief on his face.
“The two of you?” Beth asked, pointing to the two of us.
“Uh yeah,” Kyle answered shrugging his shoulders.
“Not for very long,” I provided, hoping to clear any of the tension that was going around. Auston’s hand slid out from mine causing me to panic slightly only to calm down when he slid his hand to rub reassuring at my back.
“Alright well let’s take a seat and maybe order a drink,” Auston suggested pushing me gently to the table. I gave him a grateful look as he pulled my chair out for me. He then took a seat to my right and with Kyle to my left. Everyone continued the conversion they were having before we arrived at the table.
“Aus, should we talk?” I asked not knowing if he was okay. He looked down at me with a thoughtful look before leaning in to whisper in my ear.
“Is he the one your dad hated?” he asked gently. I had told Auston about Kyle very briefly on one of our dates. My dad disapproved of him so much that it was one of the reasons we lasted as long as we did. I nodded my head slightly as I glanced at him and Beth talking. We ended on good terms. I just never expected to see him again.
“Yeah he was not a fan, he’s also the one that I got caught with,” I had told him the story about how we had been smoking weed in my room when my dad had caught us. He was so mad that he had kicked me out of the house for a week. He sent me a sad smile wrapping his arm around my shoulder and placing a kiss on my cheek.
“Wow,” he mumbled against my cheek.
“I’ve known him for like three years and I never knew,” he continued as he pulled away. I shrugged but as I went to talk we were interrupted by a boy with black hair and blue eyes talking to us.
“Hey Amelia it’s so nice to meet you. Papi never shuts up about you. I’m Clayton,” he said smiling softly at us. I grinned as I reached my hand out to shake his.
“Oh he never shuts up about you guys either,” I laughed as I tapped Auston on the shoulder. The three of us laughed.
“Auston said you worked for a magazine?” Clayton questioned as he raised his beer to take a sip.
“Yeah, It's a pretty popular magazine in Toronto. It covers almost everything from sports to fashion,” I said reaching out for the glass of water that was on the table.
“Do you want to share the nacho appetizer?” Auston asked me as he pushed the menu in front of me to take a look. Once I read over the description of the nachos I eagerly nodded my head. Almost everyone at the table already had their drinks and some type of food on the table.
“Sounds good babe,” I told him, reaching under the table to pat his leg. He smiled sweetly at me before turning to the server.
“We're going to share the nachos and I’ll have a modelo and she'll have a vodka pink lemonade,” he ordered for the two of us as he closed the menu. I smiled sweetly at the two before turning my attention back to Clayton.
“What do they have you write about?” he asked.
“I was writing about fashion when I first started there but they are trying to transfer me to the sports department,” I said shrugging my shoulders casually. Honestly they had been trying to get me to switch ever since I started dating Auston but I had been extremely against the idea since the beginning.
“I bet Allsya here would love to read all the fashion stuff you've written,” he said as he pointed to the beautiful girl to his right.
“Yes, I model here in Arizona,” she said joining the conversation. I gave her a soft smile as I glanced to her shyly.
“I actually think I’ve seen you on the runway,” I admitted as I thought back to a show that I had attended at the beginning of the summer right after I had met Auston on the plane.
“It was a swimsuit catalog and your pieces were amazing. I wrote about them in the magazine,” I continued as the server set our drinks and nachos down. I picked up my drink right away and took a small sip as she started talking.
“Oh my god! I remember that! I read the article too, oh my god Clay I told you about her article it was one of the best ones that was published after that weekend,” she said, shaking his arm slightly.
“Oh wow thank you,” I blushed as I set my drink down. I reached in for a nacho and took a big bite.
“How did the two of you meet?” Allsya asked after a brief pause in conversation. At the question everyone at the table turned their attention to us to hear the story.  I glanced over at Auston seeing as I had just shoved food in my mouth hoping that he would tell them. He smiled before shrugging his shoulders.
“We met on the plane ride to Arizona from Toronto. I sat next to her and she started rambling about how she was a nervous flyer,” he started to say but I let out a slight gasp.
“No I didn't, I told you once that I was not a good flyer and anyway you were the one who started talking to me first,” I said, cutting him off. Everyone at the table let out a laugh at that.
“We talked the whole flight and then I got her number after and we went out on a date and the rest is history,” he finished as he took a sip of his beer. I shared a sweet smile with him as I also lifted my drink up to take a sip.
“Where’d you take her?” Matt asked.
“He took me to chipotle then we went to his house,”  I told them. They all let out a laugh.
“Sounds like Papi was trying to show off,” Clayton mumbled, causing the table to laugh again. Auston tried to hide his blush by leaning his chin on his hand.
“It was really fun,” I told them honestly as I reached for more nachos.
“So how long have you guys been dating?” a girl I didn’t recognise yet asked from across the table.
“Uh about 10 months,” Auston told her as he sent me a soft smile. I sent him one in return as I rested my hand on his leg under the table.
“I want to hear the story of how the fuck Kyle and Amelia know each other,” someone blurted out from the other end of the table. I felt the blood drain from my face not feeling comfortable talking about this with a group of strangers.
“Nah we don’t have to talk about this,” Kyle said, picking up his own beer and taking a long sip.
“C’mon it’s got to be a good story. It’s crazy that you two even know one another,” Matt said. Kyle glanced at me out of the corner of his eye and I shrugged my shoulders. I knew they would keep asking if we didn’t answer them.
“It’s not that great of a story. Were from the same hometown and we dated for like a month after my mom died,” I told the table. Auston’s hand reached down to grip mine that was on his leg.
“We broke up when my dad caught us smoking weed in his house,” I continued.
“That was pretty funny though,” Kyle mumbled. I glanced at him with a smile as I thought back to the moment. It was pretty funny up until the part that I had gotten kicked out but I had never told Kyle that part.
“Yeah. But what I really want to know is how you met the beautiful Beth,” I told him as I sent her a soft smile. Her face lit up at the question as she went into the details of how the two met at college here in Arizona.
After another few rounds of drinks a few of Auston’s friends started leaving so that it was just Kyle, Beth, Matt, Lexi, Allsya, and Clayton.
“So you guys have known each other almost all your life?” I questioned Matt, Clayton, and Auston as I took a sip from the beer that Auston had ordered for me after a few vodka drinks.
“Yeah we all played hockey together actually,” Clayton said.
“Yeah but we weren’t very good so we stopped pretty early but Auston still hung out with us after,” Matt joked.
“We did everything together and went on a lot of trips together too,” Clayton continued.
“Oh fun. What was he like when he was younger?” I asked them hoping to get something juicy on him.
“Pretty much the same as he is now. Likes things to go his way, and he loves himself of course,” Matt teased, Auston rolled his eyes as he wrapped his arm behind me resting it on my chair.
“He was really possessive,” Clayton said, causing me to raise an eyebrow.
“Oh?” I said waiting for him to continue.
“He hated sharing anything. He was so possessive of his stuff it was kind of funny actually. If someone stole his favorite stick or toy he would throw a fit until someone gave it back,” Clayton finished. I let out a loud laugh as I threw my head back.
“Oh my god. Two weeks ago I was wearing his favorite sweatshirt and he wanted to wear it and he threw a thirty minute fit until I took it off so he could wear it,” I told the table as I let out another laugh, the rest of the table joining in.
“Alright we can stop talking about me now,” Auston pouted as he leaned his chin on my shoulder. I laughed as I leaned closer and pecked his lips quickly. I was starting to feel a bit tipsy. Auston narrowed his eyes at me when I pulled away so that he went cross-eyed causing me to let out a giggle. When I was drunk or tipsy I tended to display more PDA. Auston was always a fan of PDA but I hadn’t been so I knew moments like this when I let myself go he really enjoyed it
Kyle started telling us a story about his new job and I felt myself growing bored rather quickly. Deciding that I would have to make my own fun I slid my hand back onto Auston’s thigh. We had been at this bar for almost four hours now and he had stopped drinking almost two hours ago so that he would be sober to drive us home. I slid my hand higher up on his thigh as I leaned in so I could whisper into his ear.
“I was wondering if you could take me home and fuck me.”
His breath hitched at my words. He glanced around to make sure nobody had heard me before sliding his own hand onto my thigh so that it was gripping my inner thigh. He slowly slid his hand up my leg but then abruptly stopped.
“Be a good girl,” he mumbled against my ear as he pressed a kiss to the side of my head and removed his hand completely. I huffed slightly annoyed before turning back to pay attention to what was being said at the table. I finished my beer as I listened to Clayton and Auston talk about a trip they were trying to plan for the summer.
“Alright well I think we're going to head out. We got a big day of travel tomorrow,” Auston told everyone as he stood up and then helped me up from my chair. Everyone else stood up and there was a round of hugs before we were all making our way out of the bar and to our own cars.
“Did you have fun?” Auston asked, he wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we made our way back to the car.
“I did. It was fun to meet the people you grew up with,” I said softly as I leaned into his side.
“Although I really wasn’t expecting you to be friends with Kyle,” I admitted as we turned the corner and approached the car. He walked over to my side and opened the door for me.
“We met through Clayton. They were roommates at AU and got along. He’s a pretty cool dude to be honest. Not sure how I feel about the fact that you two dated though,” he helped me up into my seat after I almost tripped over the curb I let out a little giggle as I settled into the seat. I pulled my buckle on as Auston walked around the car and hopped in.
“It was in high school it was barely even dating. Like all we ever did was make out we made it to like second base maybe twice. I mostly just needed a friend at the time and he was a good one,” I told him as I thought back on the difficult time I had been going through when I lost my mother.
“It’s just weird that I’ve known him longer then you and like youve told me stories about him but I’ve never connected them to my friend Kyle,” he reached his hand out to hold mine. I smiled down at our interlocked hands before leaning onto the center console so that I could look at Auston’s face.
“Yeah, do you think it’s weird?” I asked softly.
“No not really. I mean we all have a past and we can't change it. It's nothing I can’t handle, baby,” he answered. I felt my heart warm at his response as I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes.
“If I was with Nick and this happened he would have slapped me,” I sleepily mumbled out. I heard Auston suck in a harsh breath as the silence overtook the car.
“He would have slapped me the second we got into the car and then we would have driven to my apartment in silence. He would have followed me up to my room and he would have apologised and because I would be too scared to do anything I would say it was okay,” I took a deep breath as I revealed all of that to Auston. I slowly opened my eyes and turned to look at his face scared to see the expression that would be waiting for me.
“It feels really great to know that you would never do that to me. You make me feel so safe,” I finished holding in a sob. Auston had just pulled up to his house so he put the car in park and turned to face me.
“Babe,” his voice broke as he said it. He cleared his throat as he shook his head, probably trying to piece together his thoughts. I had probably surprised Auston considering I never brought up Nick on my own. I had told him about the things that Nick had done to me in the past but I had yet to share everything. Mostly just because I was happy now and it wasn’t something that I thought of a lot. His hand squeed mine gently.
“I’m so sorry that you went through what you did, but I am so happy that I can make you feel safe. I also want you to know that you're the love of my life and I will never let anything happen to you again,” Auston told me softly as he stared into my eyes. I knew that I could trust every word he was saying.
“ I know. Let’s go inside,” I whispered. He nodded his head as he turned the car off and we both made our way out and inside his house.
“I’m really tired,” I mumbled as I slid my heels off. Auston slipped his shoes off before glancing at me with a fond look in his eyes.
“Let’s go up to bed,” he said, reaching out to rub his hand up and down my back.
“I know I wanted to have sex but can we just do that in the morning,” I asked as I made my way up the stairs. Auston let out a laugh as he led me into the bathroom. He grabbed a makeup wipe and handed it to me before standing behind me so he could tie my hair up in a ponytail for me.
“Yeah babe whatever you want,” Auston leaned forward and pressed a kiss to the back of my neck. I rubbed my makeup off before glancing up at us in the mirror.
“Hey Auston,” I mumbled quietly.
“Huh?” he whispered into my neck as he hugged me from behind.
“You're the love of my life too,” I reached down for his hand and lifted it up to my lips so I could press a kiss on it.
He turned me around so that he could press me into the counter and pressed a sweet kiss to my lips. When he pulled away he led us to the bedroom, we both changed into our pajamas and then climbed into bed. Auston turned the tv on before spooning up behind me.
“What do you want to watch?” he asked. I glanced towards the tv before shrugging.
“Anything I’m going to fall asleep any minute,” I mumbled. I drifted off to sleep as Auston watched That 70s Show.
Side Note: So I know that I kind of teased ya’ll with a bit of smut so I promise that I will try to write that sometime lol

The Never Ending Cycle of Proposals
This is a continuation of this post and the idea was presented by @mystery-5-5 . I was so excited to finish it and hope you like it! :)
This was not how it was supposed to go.
Damian had made sure of it. He found and destroyed every contingency plan that Jason and the others had formed. He flew Marinette back to Paris, to her parent’s bakery so that they could be a part of the moment. There should be no possible way things could go sideways.
Clearly he had underestimated the members of Date Duty.
“-and then Marinette fell down the stairs! Can you believe it? It was her big debut at the Wayne Gala as Damian’s girlfriend and this girl got so nervous that she tripped over her own two feet.”
“That’s our Marinette. As graceful as ever.”
A boisterous laughter filled Damian’s ears as the bakery door snapped shut behind him. Checking his watch, he tried to recall how long he had been gone. It couldn’t have been more than ten minutes. How did Jason get to Paris?
“Oh! Damian sweetie, look who just flew in to check in on us and low and behold, he didn’t even know that you and Marinette had the exact same thought! How crazy is that?”
Damian plastered on his best fake smile as his eyes attempted to burn Jason’s smirk off his face.
“Very crazy indeed Sabine. Do you mind if my brother and I excuse ourselves for a moment?”
“Oh! Not at all, we should really be getting ready to open anyways. Please, feel free to head up to the apartment. Marinette should be back from Alya’s soon, but make yourselves at home boys.”
They both nodded as Damian stalked behind Jason, forcing him to take the steps two at a time. As Jason threw open the door, he finally released the laughter that he had been holding back.
“I really didn’t think you were going to make it. If you actually had any powers, I would’ve been scared for my life down there.”
“I don’t need powers to kill you Todd.”
Jason reached out to ruffle Damian’s hair, his smirk only fueling the smaller boy’s rage.
“What are you doing here Todd? This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation for Marinette to see her parents. You are neither relaxing or her parents.”
“Oh don’t be coy with me Dami, I know what you’re really here for, we all do in fact. Did you really think you could get away with proposing to Marinette without getting through us first? You only tore up some fake plans, plans meant to lure you into revealing when you were going to propose. Considering how quick you were to get Marinette on a plane without saying goodbye tells me you plan on doing it this week.”
Damian counted backward from ten as he tried to consider all of his options left. He had taken into consideration that the plans could be fake, but there should’ve been no way that they could’ve tracked him to Paris. He paid in cash at the airport for the tickets and flew economy, economy for crying out loud!
“I thought your whole little club was to protect Marinette from heartbreak, there was no mention of protecting her from proposals.”
“Oh, but that’s where you’re wrong Damian.” The look on Jason’s face was unnerving to say the least, but Damian refused to back down. This was his girlfriend, his soon to be finance, and the only woman he wanted to love for the rest of his life. There was no way he would let some street rat like Jason stop him.
“I refuse to allow you to ruin this Todd.”
“Allow implies that you think you have control over this and I can assure you that you don’t. Marinette will not be leaving Paris with a ring on her finger, marriage is out of the question. You are lucky that we have allowed you two to be together for so long. You are too dangerous for her demon spawn and marriage places an even larger target on her back than the one she already has.”
“Are you prepared to be defeated protecting your ideals Todd?”
“Are you Damian?”
Damian felt the low growl in the back of his throat itching it’s way forward. He was so close to Jason’s face, he could end this right here and now, throw him in the guest room and never look back.
“Damian? Jason? What are you two doing here? And alone at that?”
Both turned their attention to the door where Marinette stood, a sheepish expression on her face as if she could feel the tension radiating off the two men.
“Hey princess! I was just stopping by to check in on your parents and I definitely had no idea that you and Damian were here! You two lovebirds should’ve told someone before running off to Paris like that.”
Jason pulled Marinette into a tight hug, sticking his tongue out behind her head at Damian.
“Well, I did. I told Adrien just in case anything happened.”
One look at Jason’s smug expression and Damian knew. One little blonde went racing to his brother before he and Marinette had even boarded the plane.
“Oh that’s good then, I’m glad someone knew. I’ll leave you two alone now, after all, I have places to be and people to see and I’m sure you have a wonderful vacation planned for Damian here.”
Marinette nodded with little enthusiasm as she waved bye to Jason, locking the door behind him.
“Damian, what was that about?”
He shook his head as he pulled her forward placing a small kiss on her forehead.
“I wish I knew habibti.”
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Damian was on full alert for the next couple of days, unable to relax and enjoy his time with Marinette’s family for fear that one of his nemesis would pop out at any moment and steal the ring hidden safely inside his coat pocket. Every once in a while, he would find his hand absentmindedly searching for the box, just as a reassurance that it was still there.
He wasn’t scared of the members of Date Duty, but he was scared that the moment that he had planned out for so long would be ruined by a handful of imbeciles.
“Oh look! It’s Chloe and Luka! I didn’t know they were in town.”
Damian's attention became hyper focused as he narrowed in on the suspicious couple waving them over. There was no way that two members of Jason’s little club decided to fly back on the same week that he and Marinette did.
He smiled and shook hands with Luka as they chatted idly for a few minutes. Marinette promised to catch up with them later before leaning in to hug Chloe. The blonde turned her attention to him as she leaned in and hugged him bye as well. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing suspicious, nothing-
“Fuck.”
Damian’s hand went straight to his now empty pocket. He searched frantically to be sure that it hadn’t fallen in any holes that he wasn’t aware of, but alas, it was gone. Marinette held onto his hand tightly, concern filling her eyes, but he waved her off.
If that’s how Todd wanted to play, then fine. Damian was ready. It was time for Jason to bring it on. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Damian wasn’t sure how he thought the rest of the week would play out, but this was not it.
Monday he had gone to buy another ring when he ran into Tony Stark. He claimed he was there to get his wife a unique gift from Paris. Turns out a unique gift meant buying her every jewelry store in Paris, or at least majority shares, effectively destroying Damian’s chances of finding a new ring.
Tuesday he decided to just propose without the ring, after all, it just meant she could pick out a new one whenever they hit stateside again. They had made it all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower, watching the sunset with her curled into his side as they leaned on the railing. He wanted to wait until the tower had cleared a bit, right when the sun dipped below the horizon, but much to his fear a large squeal erupted from the platform.
None other than Jagged Stone had decided to do an impromptu concert on top of the Eiffel Tower. Soon, between the noise and the crowd, Damian couldn’t even think straight, much less make space to go down on one knee. They called it a night with the question still on the tip of his tongue.
By Wednesday, Sabine had caught on to the real reason they were there. She pulled him to the side along with Tom where the both offered her engagement ring. Damian finally felt like he had caught a break. How foolish that was.
They walked into Marinette’s favorite restaurant that night only to find out that it had been bought out for the night by the Agreste family. He apparently decided that this would be an excellent date night spot for him and Kagami.
Thursday came and went with no attempts made. He had barely made it out of bed when he heard two voices in the kitchen. Praying to whatever God would hear him, Damian opened the door only to feel his heart drop. Tim and Dick sat in the kitchen while Marinette heated up some coffee, telling her all about the business deal they were taking care of in Paris.
Lucky for them, they had a day off and wanted to spend it with their favorite couple.
As Friday’s sun rolled in, Damian felt defeated.
“Mon amour, are you even listening?”
Damian nodded absentmindedly as he fiddled with the ring in his pocket.
“So do you want to go to this little reunion dinner tonight?”
“With who?”
“With my old classmates? I think Dick and Tim might stop by if they get out early today. Should be fun!”
He attempted a smile for her sake as he sent her a small nod. So on their last night in Paris, they all decided to gather in one spot making it impossible for Damian to sneak out with Marinette. It felt pretty foolproof.
“Damian, why have you been so out of it lately? This whole week you have been constantly checking over your shoulder. Are you worried about something?”
Marinette gathered his hand as she sunk on to the bed beside him.
“I just wanted this trip to be special, but a couple of special idiots have proved to make that nearly impossible. I don’t know how you dealt with them over the years.”
“Well, it felt nearly hopeless. I was convinced I was going to be single forever, but one man swooped in and saved me making me feel like there was nothing those special idiots could do. I’d like to think that he feels the same way when it comes to me. After all, a proposal doesn’t need to be in some big memorable place, it just needs to be between two people who love each other.”
Damian’s mouth gaped like a fish out of water as he tried to stutter out a denial, but it was hopeless. His cheeks felt like they were a hundred degrees as her laughter floated through the air.
“How did you know?”
“Date Duty had been disabled for a year and a half now. For them to all conveniently show up in Paris on the same week that we did? Well I’m not a big believer in coincidences when it comes to that group.”
Damian reached inside his pocket, pulling out the delicate ring that Sabine had given him a few days prior. A few tears formed in the corner of Marinette’s eyes as she covered her splitting smile with her hand.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you have amazed me at every turn since the first time I saw you many years ago. You are a strong, creative, loving and beautifully confident woman. You are my first thought in the morning and my last as I drift to sleep at night. I can’t imagine living with anyone else by my side. Please, will you marry me?”
Marinette nodded as she offered her left hand, allowing him to slip on her mother’s ring. It was no where close to the proposal that he had planned, but as her lips crashed into his, it couldn’t have made him happier.
Maybe when he saw Jason’s little club tonight, he would thank them.
After all, they lead him to the woman he loved and without their persistence, his relationship wouldn’t be as strong as it is today.
He had finally broken the never ending cycle, and man, did it feel good.

you see his baby photos
photographs for this post are here
⇒ jaebeom
“Jaebeom will kill me if he knows we’re doing this.”
“Doing what?”
You and Jaebeom’s mom whipped around from the couch to see him standing in the doorway.
“Uh, nothing!” You panicked. “Just trying to decide what we should eat for dinner.”
Not believing you, Jaebeom walked to the couch to see his childhood photographs sprawled out over the coffee table and couch.
“Eomma!” He groaned.
“Don’t be mad at your mom!” you said, “I begged her to let me see them.”
Grumbling, he sat next to you on the couch as he looked through the photos on the page in your lap.
“Whatever, you were going to find them eventually.” He shrugged.
Taking that as his blessing to continue, Jaebeom’s mom showed you a photo of him as a chubby baby, sitting happily on a swing.
You were unable to contain your delight as your mouth formed into an o, “Jae you were the cutest baby ever! I just want to gobble you up.”
“Yeah, he was.” His mom remarked fondly.
“Was?” Jaebeom asked slightly irritated.
“Not so much anymore with those awful piercings.” His mother disapproved, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
Shocked, Jaebeom placed a hand over his heart. “So mean. I took it out for you.”
“And you look so handsome now without it.” His mother remarked, not looking up from the photo she was looking at. “Don’t you think Y/N?”
Blushing, you placed your hand on his cheek, “I think he looks handsome all the time.”
⇒ mark
You held the photograph of Mark and compared it to his face. You bit your lip, not wanting to say what you thought.
“What? You look like you want to say something.” Mark said, noticing your reaction.
Exhaling, you answered. “Yes, but don’t get mad.”
“I won’t now tell me.” Mark insisted.
He sat on his knees by the box of his memorabilia, interested in hearing what you had to say.
“Did you ever watch this cartoon, Crayon Shin-Chan?”
“Maybe? I think I used to watch it on Saturday mornings.”
“You look exactly like the main character, Shin-Chan, in this picture,” you said holding up the photo of mark as a baby.
Mark looked at you blankly.
“Okay let me show you.” You said.
You googled a picture of the character and held up your phone and the photograph side by side.
Inspecting the two, Mark rolled his eyes. “I don’t see it.”
“You look identical!” You exclaimed.
Shaking his head, he kept sorting photographs, “nope. I don’t look anything like him.”
“How do you not see it!” You said. “If you were a cartoon you would literally be Shin-Chan.”
“Babe, that would be like if I told you that you look like Spongebob.”
“Hey! That’s not even a remotely fair comparison.”
“Exactly. Which is why I’m saying I don’t look like him.”
“Fine, agree to disagree.” You said, “even though I’m clearly right.”
Mark looked at you, but couldn’t help but laugh at your comment as you both kept sorting through photos.
⇒ jackson
Jackson was no help when it came to these kind of things.
His mom had texted you, I sent you some of Jackson’s baby photos. Let me know which ones you think are cute and I’ll get them framed.
Simple enough right? Not quite.
The afternoon had stretched into the evening as you and Jackson reminisced and discovered the pictures.
“You were so energetic.” You commented, holding the photograph of baby Jackson between your fingers. He stood smiling in a victory pose “I wonder...”
“What?” He asked, curious at your thought.
“Do you think we would’ve been friends as kids?”
“Ha! Absolutely not.” Jackson replied instantly.
“What? Why?” You frowned.
“Princess let me tell you something. Back then? You were so out of my league.” Jackson explained. “I would’ve never had a chance of being friends, much less your boyfriend.”
“That’s not true.” You protested. “I was pretty shy, you would’ve thought that I couldn’t speak.”
Shaking his head Jackson took the photograph from you and set it down on the table.
“Well then why don’t you tell me what you think.” You said, interested in hearing his theory.
“Gladly. We would’ve been classmates, I would’ve definitely had a crush on you, but being the immature person I was, I would’ve teased you incessantly. You would get so annoyed with me, but would eventually come to realize it was my stupid ways. I would eventually get the courage to ask you out, but you would let me down easy.” Jackson mapped out.
“You make me sound so unattainable.” You pouted. “I’ll tell you what I think. We would’ve been friends, you were class clown so everyone would’ve been friends with you. I would’ve had a huge crush on you, but I never would’ve said anything because I was so shy. Eventually, we’d graduate never being more than friends.”
Soaking up your story in silence, Jackson finally remarked. “I’m so glad we didn’t know each other as kids.”
⇒ jinyoung
“Oh my god.” You covered your mouth to muffle your laughter. “Jinyoung what is this?!”
You pointed and flipped through his baby photo album that contained not one, but three pages of Jinyoung sulking at various places.
“I knew this was a bad idea,” Jinyoung grumbled sitting back on the couch.
On this uneventful afternoon, you’d decided to do some cleaning in your apartment, only to discover a box of photo albums Jinyoung’s parents had sent over to your apartment many months ago. Unfortunately for Jinyoung that meant more reminiscing over his baby photos and less cleaning.
“You were such a sulky baby!” You exclaimed. “Oh gosh, this one is the best.”
His ears perked up as he leaned forward to look at the photo you were pointing at.
In the photograph Jinyoung stood pouting, his large ears pointing outwards as he stood straight. He seemed to be dressed in a turquoise crocheted tank top.
“I was probably annoyed with something very reasonable!” Jinyoung attempted to defend.
Looking at him with an eyebrow raised, he held his hands up in defeat. “Fine. I was upset because my mom wouldn’t stop taking pictures of me. But don’t you think you have any photos throwing fit?”
“I definitely do, but not to the varying extent that you do,” you replied.
Narrowing his eyes at you, he spoke “alright, I think I’ve seen enough of my embarrassing pictures for the day.”
“Hey, at least you grew into your ears,” you giggled, poking his side.
He turned to give you the same sulking look as the photograph. “You’re lucky I love you.”
Turning to look at him, you continued flipping through the book, “I love you too,”
You leaned to kiss both of his ears “especially your ears” you then leaned in to peck his lips, resting your forehead against his “and your face when you’re sulking.”
⇒ youngjae
You sifted through the photographs of Youngjae past on your coffee table.
JYP had asked Youngjae to send in a baby photo of himself as a special photo card option for their next comeback.
Stressed and overwhelmed by the pressures of idol life, Youngjae had delayed this task by weeks.
As you cooked dinner, you glanced at Youngjae’s phone to see a message.
You need to send in your baby photo ASAP.
You finished cooking and headed to your albums. There were too many choices. Flipping through the albums you narrowed your choices down to three photos. Laying them out on the coffee table, you folded your hands on your lap contemplating.
Lost in thought, you didn’t even realize Youngjae had awoken from his nap until he wrapped his arms around you.
“Hey,” Youngjae said, his voice still groggy. “What are you doing?”
“You’ve been putting off sending your baby photo so I thought I’d help you out.” You informed him.
“Thank you darling.” He kissed your cheek before sitting down next you.
“Any thoughts on which one to send?” You turned to him. “I narrowed it down to three. I know which one I think you should send in, but it should be your choice.”
Scanning the photos in front of him, Youngjae finally spoke, “let’s point to our choice at the same time.”
“1”
“2”
“3” you said at that same time.
Looking to where your fingers pointed you smiled.
“I guess it’s settled then.” Youngjae laughed.
The photo you’d both picked had been one of Youngjae and his father. He was holding his son as Youngjae drank from a bottle.
“I love this photo, you look just like your dad.” You told him. “The resemblance is uncanny.”
⇒ bambam
“You look so innocent.” You showed Bambam the photograph. “What happened to you?”
Bambam looked up from his phone to see his baby photo on your phone.
“Hey! How did you get that?” He said.
“Your sister sent it to me.” You replied nonchalantly. “She sent some real gems.”
“Since when are you and Baby texting about me?” Bambam asked, curious.
“Maybe a month?” You said, thinking back to the first time she texted.
“A month!” Bambam exclaimed. “Oh god.”
“Oh god is right. I can see why you’re a performer now, you’re a natural.” You told him.
Leaning his back on the couch, he sat up thinking about your earlier comment.
“What did you mean I was so innocent.” He pouted folding his shoulder. “I’m still squeaky clean.”
“Oh please, the Bambam I know now is literally the guy who texted me last week after work that he wanted me on the bed and ready for his big–“
“Okay! I get it.” Bambam interrupted.
“See? Not so innocent.” You said. You held up his baby photo “This baby on the other hand, total angel.”
⇒ yugyeom
“Y/N don’t look at that.” Yugyeom said.
Ignoring his warning you continued flipping through his childhood album. You looked up to see your man child of a boyfriend towering over you and pouting.
“These are so embarrassing, please don’t.” He pleaded with you.
“You were so cute!” You countered. “Please let me see them. I think you were adorable.”
Giving in, he sat next to you on the couch. “Fine. But I’m going to go through them too.”
You both sat on the couch, placing the album between you.
“Are you wearing roller skates in this?” You pointed to baby Yugyeom’s feet. “I wanna hear the story behind this.”
“Oh man, that was before I cut my head.” Yugyeom reminisced.
“What?!” You said, shocked that he had been in so much danger.
“Yeah. My dad had taken me and my brother out to rollerskate. I was so stubborn as a kid, I refused to wear a helmet.” Yugyeom recounted to you. “Things were fine until I tripped on my skate and ended up hitting my head on a rock. There was blood everywhere”
“That must’ve been scary.” You said, leaning on his shoulder.
“I think my dad was more freaked out that me. Luckily I only needed two stitches.” He rested his head against yours. “I still have the scar.”
You leaned back as Yugyeom pulled his hair out of his face. Lifting it up, he revealed a scar going into his forehead.
Reaching out, you gingerly touched it. Pressing a kiss to your index and middle finger you placed it on the scar.
“How come I never noticed this scar before?” You wondered aloud. “It makes you look sexy.”
Scoffing, Yugyeom released the hair he was holding. “I was such an idiot. Hopefully our kids don’t turn out as dumb as me.”
Your eyes widened slightly at his words. Hopefully our kids don’t turn out as dumb as me. He was thinking about that?
Taking in your reaction, he lightly coughed, “I mean you know, in the future. The very far future.”
You smiled, kissing his cheek. “I hope they can dance like you. It would be a shame if they got my two left feet!”

Katniss hated parties, specifically Gale’s. They were always loud and crowded to the point where you couldn’t move or think. And she knew this one would be worse considering college students were out on Christmas break.
She’d made every excuse not to go, even as Madge pulled her onto her pink vanity chair and started curling her hair. Madge quickly pointed out that college boys would be attending. Not that Katniss really cared about what percentage of Panem’s male population would be there.
Except, she kind of did care, but only about one boy in particular.
“Peeta will be there,” Madge had suggested, making eye contact with her in the mirror.
Of course, her friend would use this as leverage.
But Peeta would never actually notice her. He was a college sophomore and popular. And unlike all of the other girls she typically saw flocked around him, Katniss felt too plain…and she clammed up in large social settings. They were more like Madge⎯pretty, outgoing, and most likely on the cheer squad. He probably didn’t even know her name, even though they had shared the same homeroom period for three years.
So, the extra attention Madge took to Katniss’s hair and outfit almost felt like a waste.
She parked her car in front of Gale’s house and waited as Madge applied a second coat of shiny gloss to her lips in the small visor mirror. It made her lips look overly wet to the point that it almost looked like they were covered in drool. And when Katniss told her this, Madge merely rolled her eyes and said it was part of her look⎯whatever that meant. She wasn’t dressed any differently than usual, aside from the low-cut cashmere sweater clinging to her upper half like a second skin.
Madge never did things in halves.
“Don’t you think this is a bit… excessive?” she asked while Madge touched up her blush. “You already know that half of the football team at school likes you.”
“I think you are over-exaggerating,” Madge said, snapping the visor closed before tossing her makeup into her purse. “Okay, ready?”
“We can still go back and watch Christmas movies like we’ve been doing for the past six years,” Katniss said as a last-ditch effort.
Madge turned in her seat to give Katniss an incredulous expression. “This will be our first college party! Don’t you want to know what they’re like?”
“Yeah, when we’re in college,” she grumbled. “We’re still seniors in high school. Surely, five months isn’t that long of a wait.”
“C'mon, Katniss,” Madge pouted. “Please, just this once?”
She hated when Madge used that face on her.
“Fine, but I don’t want to be there too long,” Katniss relented, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the car door.
She tugged on the sleeves of her sweater as they walked up the front porch steps of Gale’s house. The bass from the music inside thrummed under her boots, stirring something sour in her stomach. Gale greeted them at the door, his booming voice echoing through the front yard. He stepped aside for them to step into the entryway, and Katniss froze slightly when she saw who was standing behind him.
Peeta smiled at them, a simple flash of perfect white teeth that made her breath stutter. And if his beautiful smile wasn’t enough, the dark green button-up stretching across the broad expanse of his chest rendered her mute.
Katniss pretended to be busy, herself, tapping the snow off her boots to distract herself from gawking at him.
“I can’t believe you managed to pull Katniss away from her books and reindeer slippers,” Gale told Madge with a laugh. Her friend giggled, shrugging her shoulders, and Katniss felt her face growing hot.
“Shut up, you two,” she snapped, inadvertently making eye contact with Peeta, who gave her a small smile.
“Reindeer slippers?” he asked with interest, and Katniss couldn’t tell if he was teasing her. Furthermore, she couldn’t believe he was even talking to her.
“They were a gift,” she mumbled.
The smile on Peeta’s lips grew. “That’s cute.”
Katniss smiled nervously, unable to hold his gaze. “Uh, thank you.”
“Let’s get you ladies something to drink,” Gale said, then tossed his arms across her and Madge’s shoulders, leading them toward his cramped kitchen, Peeta trailing not far behind.
“Gale, you’re squishing my hair,” Madge grumbled and swatted at his hand to get him to remove his arm.
“What? I think it still looks great,” he told her, and Katniss didn’t miss the light hint of pink that colored Madge’s cheeks. Her friends’ relationship with each other always managed to confuse her.
They dated when Gale was still in high school, and then they had a mutual break-up when he left for college because Madge didn’t want a long-distance relationship. But ever since he moved back home last year, Katniss noticed that Madge seemed to spend a lot of time with him again. For a while, she thought they were back together. Then she saw Gale posting cringey photos with a girl on Instagram a few weeks ago⎯she hadn’t been able to erase the image of Gale’s tongue in that girl’s mouth from her brain since. Katniss wouldn’t be shocked if Madge’s whole college boy thing was just a ruse to make Gale jealous. In fact, it seemed exactly like the type of thing her friend would do.
Truthfully, though, it sounded like a lot of work to go through to get someone to notice you, but who was she to judge? She curled her hair⎯which she never did⎯and actually tried wearing something other than her tattered denim jacket and black jeans just so Peeta might talk to her.
Still, she thought her friends were acting like idiots.
In the kitchen, stacks of pizza boxes lined the counter, along with bottles and cans of alcohol in multiple varieties. You would never know that Gale was hosting a holiday-themed party if it wasn’t for the pitiful-looking mistletoe hanging above the sink by a piece of duct tape. Katniss couldn’t say that she was surprised, to say the least.
And leave it to Gale to showcase his lack of decorating skills.
Peeta opened the fridge, flicking his eyes toward them. “We have Coke or water. Pick your poison.”
“That’s okay. I’m having whatever is in the punch bowl.” Madge nodded toward a bowl on the counter filled with a green concoction, and Gale reached up into a cupboard to grab a red solo cup.
“Your parents will kill me if they find out I gave you alcohol,” Gale muttered to her.
Then Peeta looked over at Katniss. “And you?” Under his stare, Katniss flushed, fumbling over her words when she asked for the Coke. Peeta crouched down to pull open the bottom fridge drawer for a can, then he held it out to her. “Here you go.” Katniss stepped away from Gale’s side, grabbing it from him and blushing when their finger touched.
She tried not to make a big show out of it, even if it made her heart rate spike. “Thank you,” she told him, pushing her hair behind her ear. This earned her another one of his beautiful smiles. God, she was so pathetic.
Forty minutes went by, and Katniss found it easier to talk to Peeta⎯not that she gave more than a few one-syllable answers. Still, her heart no longer leaped in her throat when he’d turn and ask her a question, nor did she clam up when he decided to stand next to her. But, of course, Madge had to ruin the moment.
“Oh, look, you’re both under the mistletoe,” she said, words slightly slurred as she tilted her cup toward the dainty thing above their heads.
Peeta looked up in the direction Madge was pointing, blond curls sliding off his forehead from the angle. Katniss took that moment to glare at her friend, who knew all too well about her crush on Peeta, then glanced over at him. “Uh, it’s just a plant. You don’t have to do anything,” she told him shyly.
He regarded her with amusement, his mouth tilting up. “Did you know refusing a kiss under the mistletoe is bad luck?”
“Oh?” She wanted to cringe when her voice broke from nerves, though she wasn’t quite expecting him to play along with Madge.
Peeta leaned against the counter. “Yeah, but it might only be a superstition. Like when Gale wears polka dot underwear to help his football team win,” he said, shrugging. “Who knows.”
“Hey,” Gale said, frowning.
As if Peeta didn’t already think she was daft, she said, “Oh. I, um…Oh.” It made it worse that Madge and Gale were watching her make a fool of herself, and she really wanted to tell them to go away.
The look of embarrassment on her face made Peeta shake his head, chuckling to himself. “You don’t have to kiss me. I was only joking, Katniss.”
“Mellark! Hawthorne! We’re starting a game of flip cup⎯if you want to join?”
They all looked toward the threshold to the kitchen where a stocky redhead with a plastic cup stood. He tilted back whatever was inside and tossed it in a garbage bag that hung off of a kitchen drawer, then waved at them.
“I’m in,” Gale called back, pulling Madge along behind him. “Come on, Peet!”
Peeta turned, nodding at Gale. “I’ll be right there. Give me a sec.”
Her friends were gone; now was her chance. “Okay,” she told him, pushing her bangs out of her face. “I’ll kiss you.”
He smiled down at her. “Katniss, really, you don’t have to.”
“I want to,” she said, hoping that she sounded more confident than she felt.
He raised an eyebrow, studying her face for any hesitation. When he found none, his hand came up and gently caressed her jaw. “Okay,” Peeta finally agreed and tilted her face to the side.
But Katniss was disappointed once she realized he wasn’t going to give her a real kiss like she’d anticipated…and the bold part of her didn’t want to settle with anything less. So when Peeta started to lean in, she turned her head before he could reach her cheek and pressed her lips against his. She closed her eyes tightly when she heard him gasp⎯too scared to look at his face at that moment.
It felt like they were like that forever; her heart fluttering wildly in her chest as Peeta didn’t move to initiate anything further. Embarrassed, she pulled away, but his fingers held her fast, and then his lips moved beneath hers. She managed a soft, quick inhale while her stomach rippled in excitement. Oh god, Peeta Mellark was kissing her back. She’d probably squeal if her mouth wasn’t otherwise preoccupied.
His hand came up and ran through her hair, causing her to squeak in surprise. It wasn’t her first kiss (the first time was with a boy from eighth grade who she couldn’t remember the name of at the moment), but it was the first that made her light-headed and had her toes curling in her boots.
When he pulled away, she bit the inside of her cheek at the sight of how dark and swollen his lips were. She released a shaky breath, knowing she was the one who did that.
He flashed her a crooked smile. “You know, I like it when you wear your hair down.”
Her throat felt tight all of a sudden. “I…um, thank you.”
“I better go before Gale comes back,” he said, and Katniss nodded her head dumbly. She watched him walk out of the kitchen and into the living room.
Katniss wasn’t sure what shocked her more⎯that Peeta had actually noticed her during homeroom, or that she could still faintly feel his soft lips against hers.
