Charlie Weasley x fem!reader
I was inspired.

@once-upon-an-imagine here's your tag.
Summary: time to meet the family.
Warnings: none. Too much cuteness.
Tumblr media
"I don't think I can do this," I mutter as I lay down on the bed, with Charlie standing next to me.
"Yes, you can," he reassures me, with a gentle tapping on my leg, "They're gonna love you!"
"No, they won't," I complain.
"Well... your family loved me, and I, too, was scared! Yet it went well!" He tries to make me reason.
I look up at him, sitting up straight, staring into his eyes.
"You got it easier. You had to charm two people, my mom and my grandfather, " I say, holding up two fingers, "I have to charm 8 people!"
Charlie simply smiles at me, so sweetly I could just melt on the spot of I wasn't so terrified. He moves his hand to cup my cheek, softly stroking it with his thumb.
"Love, my absolute, gorgeous, funny, cute, love of my life, perfect reason of my existence" he starts making hard for me to hold a giggle at his antics "You can charm a whole Great Hall at Hogwarts without even trying. No effort, everyone at your feet."
I roll my eyes but can't help but chuckle again.
"No, don't you roll those pretty eyes at me, young lady! It's true, " he laughs, too."You have nothing to worry about. I promise you!"
"But..."
"Nooooooooo!" He pouts."Nope. Shush. They already love you and.."
"You told them about me!?" I widen my eyes, and I lay back down trying to hide under the covers.
"Love?" I hear him laughing softly."Love, c'mon out."
I sit up again.
"Of course I told them about you. You are the love of my life, I had to talk about you." He laughs again, holding my hands in his."They can't wait to meet you, and they already love you, "
I sigh deeply. I look up at him, trying to find any sign of mockery, but, unfortunately for me, I don't find any.
"Fine," I whine. "Fine, we'll go see your family,"
"Yes!" He cheers, standing up, taking me with him and hugging me. "They're gonna love you, sweetheart."
"Yeah... yeah, alright." I wave him off and just get to work and prepare my bags.
------------
"You're okay, love, you're fine." Charlie caresses my back as we walk closer to his childhood's home.
"Yeah... I know... I am..." I stutter out, breathing heavily.
"You're shaking," he informs me. "Okay, hey. Look at me. "
He stops me and turns me to look at him.
"Yes?"
"Breath." He breathes in and waits for me to do the same.
I take a deep breath and mimic him.
"In and out. Good girl, " he smiles.
"Let's get it over with, " I almost beg.
He grabs my hand, and together, we walk to the front door.
Charlie knocks once, and the door is already opening, revealing a short red-haired woman with the biggest smile on her face I've ever seen. She must be Charlie's mother.
"Charlie!" She exclaims quickly, hugging Charlie.
"Hi, mom," he says, hugging her back, "I can't breathe, mom." He chuckles breathlessly.
She lets him go and turns to me.
"Aw, and you must be Y/n. It's so nice to finally meet you, my dear" she coos.
"So nice meeting you, Mrs Weasley." I hold my hand out to shake her hand, but she quickly moves it and cages me in a big hug.
"Just call me Molly, dear," she says, letting me go, "C'mon, let's go inside."
"See? Nothing to worry about, " Charlie whispers to me as we get into the house.
"Just one out of eight." I take a breath as I'm led into what I think is the living room.
"Charlie!" A red-haired girl runs up to Charlie, giving him a quick hug, "finally!"
She doesn't look much older than thirteen, I think.
"C'mon, we're not that late!" Charlie defends himself."By the way, Ginny, this is Y/n, my girlfriend, "
"Hi," I timidly wave at her.
She looks at me for a second, then smiles brightly and turns to her brother.
"She's too pretty for you, Char," she teases, and I can't help but laugh a little at that.
"It's so nice to be home," Charlie sighs sarcastically. "Don't laugh!" He turns to me to shove me a little.
"I'm sorry, love," I say, holding his hand.
" 'love' ? You two are so cute, " Ginny exclaims.
"Look who finally decided to join us," a voice calls.
"You took your time," another voice speaks.
I look up and see two identical red heads coming up to us.
"Love? These two are Fred and George." He introduces us. "Don't trust them," he adds in a whisper.
"Hey!" They say together.
"That's rude!"
"Very rude, brother," one of them comes in front of me, taking my hand. "Don't listen to him. We are not that bad," he kisses my hand.
"Right. We are true gentlemen. " The other one moves his twin out of the way to kiss my hand, too.
"Yeah... ask Ron what they did to his teddy bear when he was younger, " Charlie accuses.
"What..?" I say with a small giggle.
"Are you sure you want him?"
"You can still back down, you know."
"Alright, leave her alone!" Charlie laughs and leads me further into the room with the rest of his family.
"Hello, everyone." He waves at everyone."This is Y/n, my girlfriend, "
"Hello, it's a pleasure being here." I wave too and look at all the faces.
"Oh, my dear girl, we finally meet you. Charlie told us so much about you. " A tall man stands up from the couch to get closer. "I'm Arthur. Charlie's father"
"Oh, pleasure to meet you, Mr Weas-"
"Arthur, please. You're family now, no need for formalities, " he says, sending me a smile that I return, then he's off to the kitchen, probably to help his wife.
"Alright, that one there is Bill," Charlie points at a long-haired man sitting on the couch.
"Hi," I say.
"Hi, lovely," he smiles.
"Don't flirt with my girlfriend, thanks," Charlie complains.
"I just said 'hi,' " Bill defends himself, raising his hands up in the air.
"I'm Ron," a much younger boy stands up and walks to us, I was just in time to notice he was pushed by a brunette sitting beside him.
"Nice to meet you," I shake his hand.
"I'm Hermione Granger, Ronald's friend." The girls stand up as well.
"I'm Y/n L/n," I say, shaking her hand as well. "Wait... Granger?" I ask, and she nods."Are your parents dentists? Or maybe a relative is?"
"Yeah. My parents" she smiles gently.
"My parents used to take me to them, I think, when I was younger!" I explain.
"Really?"
"Yes, I remember them being so nice. I was never scared," I laugh. " they're still working, I hope,"
"Oh yes, they are," she answers.
"It's so nice to hear this."
"Oh, Harry. Hi, " Charlie greets, so I look past Hermione to see a boy with glasses walking in.
"Hey, Charlie. How are you?" He asks.
"I'm great, hey, this is my girlfriend Y/n."
"Hey," I say, going to shake his hand, and while doing this, I notice a scar on his face.
Oh..
"I'm Harry," he simply says.
"Nice to meet you." I smile gently at him.
"Dinner is ready!" Molly screams from the kitchen.
"Finally!" Ron exclaims.
"How are you always hungry?" Hermione asks as she follows everyone into the kitchen.
Harry sends me an amused smile and walks away.
"Wait..." I say, holding Charlie's hand. "I met your parents, 2, I met your little sister, 3, the twins 5, Ron, 6, Bill, 7... Hermione and Harry are not your siblings... isn't anyone missing?" I ask, confused.
"Yeah... I don't think Percy's gonna join us. Too busy at the ministry, " he says, almost defeated, so I decide not to press the subject.
"Oh... okay... it's alright. " I smile at him." C'mon, can't wait to finally taste your mom's food. "
We arrive in the kitchen, and there are two open seats left... on opposite sides.
"C'mon, dear, come sit here." Molly jokes, pointing at the seat next to Ginny but still close to her.
"You'll be fine," Charlie whispers to me before going to sit next to his father.
I take a seat, Ginny is on my left, Molly on hers, on my right sit Hermione and in front of me there's Bill.
"Free yourself for a bit." Bill jokes, catching Charlie's attention.
"How about you sit here, brother?" Charlie offers, pointing at where Harry is sitting, in front of him.
"Charlie, behave" Arthur scolds his son, who simply sit, but I can sense he's keeping an eye on his brother, all while everyone is laughing and just goes back and their own business.
"Now, dear, tell me all about it." Molly starts as she puts a generous slice of shepherd's pie on my plate. "How did you two meet?"
"Oh," I nervously laugh. "Well.."
"Mom, don't make her nervous," Ginny says to her mother.
"No, no, it's fine, really," I reassure them. "I... well, I had just finished my seventh year at Hogwarts and"
"You too were at Hogwarts. How nice!" She comments, that huge gentle smile always on her face.
"Yes, but I've always been very quiet, so I don't think he has ever actually noticed me before we met there, actually," I say.
"Weasleys are louder by nature," Ginny assures me, smiling too.
"He sure is. Anyway, I had finished my last year and I wanted to take a year for myself, after my father's death it's been kind of hard, helping at home when I wasn't at Hogwarts and... yeah, I wanted to paint magical creatures, so I travelled all the way to Romania."
"You paint?" Bill asks, and I nod."Oh wow, you will have to show us some of your work, "
"Yeah, maybe next time I'll bring some." I smile at him.
"Go on," Ginny urges. She looks at me with dreamy eyes.
"I arrive in this camp, and I was almost expecting and hoping they could show me more accurate pictures of dragons to take inspiration from. At first, I found this, I have to say, very rude man, asking me constantly why I was there and why I was bothering them. He also almost threw away the drawing I was showing him to explain why I was there.
"What?! Please tell me Charlie arrived to tell him something, " Ginny exclaims.
"Uhm... no." I laugh softly."No, I spent, I think, a good hour and a half dealing with this man, "
"Oh poor thing," Molly sighs. "And then?"
"I managed to get onto the camp and look at some pictures and drawings, and I started to paint something. So I'm sitting there, painting quietly when suddenly something fell right beside me. Or someone fell right beside me. " I laugh at the memory.
"Really?" Bill asks very amused by his brother's first impression.
"Yes. Not only did he scare me, but he fell on my oil paint, getting it all over him. Especially on his face."
"Oh, that would've been such a great view," Bill laughs.
"It was," I confirm.
"And then?" Ginny asks.
"Then he started to apologise, profusely, saying he would've bought back all the water paint. But I assured him he didn't need to, since my grandfather owed a shop with all the materials I needed."
"Oh my dear boy," Molly tries to hold back the laughter but fails.
"We started to talk, and once I told him I wanted to paint a dragon... well.. that same night, he sneaked me back into the camp and let me meet one of the dragons there. I painted, and he sat there watching me the whole time."
"Awe." Ginny sighed, still that dreamy look on her.
"I hope he's been a gentleman since then," Molly says.
"He is, I promise. He's really great, I can promise you, you did a great job. " I smile at her, and she just waves me off, but I know my words meant a lot.
---------------
We spent the rest of the dinner talking about everything else. I got to talk with Hermione about her parents and about being a muggle-born and the fact that Ron, Harry and her are aboutto start their fourth year, I also got to talk with Ginny about Quidditch and with Bill about his job as curse-breaker at the Bank.
I was having a really good time with everybody that I didn't notice it was getting late.
As everybody is going to bed, Charlie walks up to me, takes my hand, and leads me outside.
"So?" He asks.
"What?" I ask back.
"It went well," he grins.
"Shut up!" I laugh, covering my eyes, feeling embarrassed.
"They love you! I knew it. " I feel him hugging me tightly.
"Yeah, fine, you win. I was scared for nothing, " I say, pushing him away, but he grabs my hand and pulls me back to him.
"Exactly." He keeps grinning.
"They wanted to know about how we've met," I tell him.
"Oh, merlin... now Bill's gonna make fun of me for the rest for my life, " he laughs defeated.
"Sorry, but your sister was so into the story and had that dreamy look on her face..." I explain.
"It's alright, love," he kisses my nose. " I'm happy you felt at home with them. I'm not sure about Bill, but I can't kick him out. "
"Don't be mean," I laugh. "You know I have my eyes on you, only you,"
"I know." He smiles proudly.
"He does have great hair," I murmur.
"What?" He widens his eyes, and I laugh, bringing him in for a kiss.
"Your hair is not so bad either, don't worry,"
He laughs with me, holding me close to him, stroking my sides lovingly.
"You know," he says after a moment. "You were wrong earlier,"
"Uh?"
"I did notice you when we were at Hogwarts," he says, and I let out a gentle laugh, earning a confused look.
"How could you?" I say .I was three years younger than you, and I was... like... very quiet, Charlie. I'm not mad, if that's what you're thinking. " I smile at him to reassure him.
"You liked to paint in the astronomy tower" he starts "you came to the Quidditch matches, yes, but you sat as far as possible so you weren't getting in people's way and they not in yours. You always ate sitting as close as possible to the doors in the Great Hall. And..."he kisses my nose again,"and you drew a new creature for Hagrid every week. "
I look at him confused. How does he know all of this?
"How?" I finally ask.
"Told you. I did notice you, " he smiles.
"But why did you say anything?" I chuckle.
"I don't know, honestly. I guess with me moving to Romania, I didn't want you to feel like I was abandoning you or feel like you had to follow me... I didn't want to break our hearts. " he lets out a nervous chuckle. "It sounds stupid now... seeing how we turned out"
"A little." I chuckle too, "better late than never, people say. Right?"
"Right," he agrees, I kiss him softly. "I love you,"
"I love you too, Charlie." I move my hand to caress his cheek, and he leans into my touch.
"Aaww!" We hear from above us.
We look up in time to see Ginny watching us from an open window and then being dragged inside by Hermione.
"Sorry," she says apologetically before disappearing into the house.
Charlie and I look at each other, laughing.
"Alright, c'mon. Let's go get some sleep, my love. " Charlie leads me back inside.
"Let's," I agree as I follow him.
It did go well after all.

CHAPTER 5: You get a lot more than you bargained for when Charlie shows up at dinner. For one, how does he manage to make politics, sexy? (4.7k words)
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 5: ELECTRIC POLITICS
You were cloaked in warm and well slept-in sheets. You nestled yourself in that comfort for another moment before turning onto your back and cracking an eye open. Above you was a familiar tall and white ceiling. Yep, you were definitely back in your bed. It was always in the earliest of mornings that for the briefest of moments, your mind was inclined to forget what had happened the night before. As your lucidity grew, figments of last night came to you slowly.
You were at a bar with Charlie, talking about plans…
…That he shredded.
Right, that happened.
But had it all been a dream? Maybe it was still the morning after that disastrous dinner and your subconscious had plotted out the past couple of “days”.
You pulled your covers off and stared at your naked kneecap. There was a light bruise, a pale spot of red, from when Charlie was trying to ‘gauge’ your limits or whatever he’d called it.  To think he’d left a mark by just casually holding your knee in his hand, not even intently putting pressure on it. To think if he’d done anything with intent…
“Get a grip on yourself,” you chastised, fanning away thoughts that were too lewd for the morning. You were growing annoyed with yourself after losing every shroud of strong-headedness you had. Charlie was just attractive and confident. But so were thousands of other men in the world, so why did he get to control your narrative last night?
You exhaled, resolving to think about it later, then walked over to the closet to dress for the day.
Narcissa was the only one in the sunroom when you arrived. It looked like your father and Draco had already had breakfast and gone off to do whatever the day asked of them.
“Good morning,” you greeted, slipping into your chair.
“You got in late last night,” Narcissa responded.
You shrugged. “It was Friday, and I’m young.”
There was a wrinkle of disapproval on her mouth. By now, Lucius would’ve told her about Charlie and about your little scene last weekend at the cafe, and she would’ve filled in your whereabouts last night with that information.
She looked out the garden and then back at you. “What does your schedule look like in a month’s time? Say, the second Sunday of October?”
“I imagine it’s free.”
“You best keep it open, then,” Narcissa continued. “My monthly book club is inviting a prolific author for tea. I would like you to join us.”
“Oh?” She’d certainly piqued your interest. “Who?”
“Madame Millicent,” she said. “She’s been praised as the face of female empowerment in the literary world.”
Female empowerment. This was exactly what you needed after you let Charlie throw you around like a rag doll, falling docile to his every touch and word. Hm, maybe having tea with this Madame Millicent wouldn’t be so bad.
The problem was that you hadn’t even heard of her. “What should I read to prepare?”
“That’s up to you,” Narcissa advised. “Choose a title of hers that interests you. She has three titles out now. I have everything in the study.”
You nodded. You had about a month which gave you more than a week to clear each book.
You had your coffee and pastry with a side of small talk, chatting with your mother about mundane topics like what her book club was reading this week and what she was doing this weekend.
Tumblr media
Before you knew it, it was Friday afternoon, the day before the dinner. This day in particular, you found comfort in sitting on the couch in Fred and George’s flat with free use of their owl, writing letters to Charlie. This old rickety couch was now your favourite creative outlet, you supposed.
You hoped Charlie wasn’t fickle in his decisions, so you had to confirm he would be present tomorrow.
Hi, Charlie We’re still on for tomorrow?
Of course.
What are you wearing
Just then, a loud explosion sounded outside. Your jerky response drew out the 'g' in your sentence. You set the quill down on the coffee table, walked to the main door, opened it, and looked to the room adjacent to the flat.
“Are you alright?” you called out into the abyss.
You saw a thumbs up against a plum of black smoke, so you retreated back to the couch. When you returned, the letter was gone along with the owl. Minutes later, the owl returned with another letter.
I don’t have to tell you how improper that sounds, (Y/N). I’m saving this letter for a later date.
You wrote back with a reddening face.
You know I mean for this Saturday. And burn it, please.
The same old thing I always do. Is that okay?
An attire of a jean jacket thrown over a comfortably worn t-shirt would make your classist father curl with rage. It was perfect.
Of course. Remember, we’re at 8 Estates Lane and dinner starts at 6 p.m. If you end up at 6 Estates Lane, you may encounter Cecile, a widow, who’s just getting over her late husband. She’s still healing, so best to leave her alone.
Got it. See you at six tomorrow, (Y/N) darling.
In the time it took to read Charlie’s letter, Fred had tiptoed in and peered over your shoulder.
“Why don’t you just talk to him in person?”
“Because,” you sighed, turning around to poke him in the face with a quill, “You make fun of me when I come over now, and Charlie doesn’t seem to like to play by the books.”
“What do you mean?”
“He shredded my script last Friday.”
‘And touched me in places he shouldn’t have, and nearly kissed me, and made a fool of me in retrospect,’ you thought. But you wouldn’t tell Fred that was why you were nervous to see Charlie in person: because of whatever spell he’d put on you last time.
“It wasn’t good anyway,” Fred remarked honestly.
You furrowed your brows. You poured your heart and mind into that thing! “What do you mean?”
“You were writing lullabies. I almost fell asleep listening to them.”
“This is the least I can do to ensure some consistency,” you argued. “I won’t convince anyone at dinner if I act just as shocked as my parents.”
“Charlie isn’t going to be boxed in by whatever the rules are. He just does what feels right to him at the time, and his intuition is often correct.” Fred threw his arms up in defence after seeing your increasingly perturbed expression. “But don’t ask me, Bill knows him way better.”
“I’m sure, seeing they’re, what, two years apart?”
“They’ll tell each other everything, anything,” Fred added. “Actually, you should ask Bill if you need any blackmail material to keep Charlie in line.”
You were about to agree, but that thought was interrupted by an owl flying into the open window and pecking at you. You stared at the animal quizzically. Unless Charlie was continuing your pretty much finished conversation, then who was this for? You slit the ribbon and unfurled the parchment. Immediately, you noticed the penmanship was different. Neater. Crisper. Like it was written by someone who needed their numbers and figures written crystal clear, say, someone whose profession might be that of a bank official…
(Y/N), Charlie is wearing a black sweater and grey sweatpants. I heard you were curious as per your last letter.  Sincerely,  Bill Weasley
Noticing your mortified expression, Fred was quick to snatch the letter out of your hands. Immediately, his braying laughter filled the room.
“I told you they tell each other everything!” he boasted.
For the third time this week, you were sure you were parading about a sinking ship.
Tumblr media
Tick, tick.
5:58 p.m. on Saturday evening, Lucius crossed one leg over the other, looking expectedly at the circular driveway that wrapped around a marble fountain outside the main entrance. He set his cane aside and adjusted his tie, a black piece in his suit of all black.
5:59 p.m., Narcissa tapped her fingers on her stocking-clad legs. She, too, took to a dress of all black. The only colour on her body was an emerald brooch.
6:00 p.m., a wave of nausea overtook you. You fiddled with a button on your white textured cardigan that you slipped over a black pleated dress.
6:01 p.m., Draco, dressed like his father, let out a scoff at your expense. Pitiful was the sound and wounded was your ego.
“So,” Lucius’s voice cut through the tense air. “Where is Charlie?”
You blanched, at a loss for an explanation. He’d promised you he was going to be here. You had written proof, but it would have no standing in your father’s court of law.
“Well?” he urged.
“Probably weaving his way through the forest,” you excused with as most conviction as you could muster. “It’s not easy to find such a remote location, especially a mansion on Estates Lane.”
Draco looked at his silver watch on his wrist and let out a sound of competent. “He’s already five minutes late. But I wasn’t expecting anything more from a Weasley, anyway.” Then, he suggested something you didn’t want to hear. “Father, how much longer should we wait before we call off this dinner? You and I have more important things to deal with anyway.”
“I’ll give it—”
Lucius was interrupted by the unmistakable sound of the front door opening. A few seconds later, Dobby came running.
“Who is it, Dobby?” Narcissa asked, standing up.
“It’s Ms. Cromwell and Mr. Weasley.”
“Ms. Cromwell?” Lucius repeated.
The four of you, Malfoys and all, shared the same confusion as you scurried to meet your guest—plural, you corrected, guests.
At the entrance of the door, Cecile Cromwell stood with Charlie. She was the heiress you mentioned in your letter. The grieving heiress you warned him not to bother. Her late husband, Chuck Cromwell, held a large fortune in his name before passing last month. Cecile looked polished as always, layers of diamonds and silver looped around her twill dress. Wrapped in her shawl, she looked like the face of elegance and especially juxtaposed to Charlie…
Charlie, who was not wearing what he said he was going to. In fact, he complemented Cecile perfectly.
He’d slicked his hair back and tied the longer strands up. His blouse boasted some frilly lace that looked like it belonged on Genevieve’s wedding dress rather than his broad chest. The blouse sleeves were long, and the same frilly material poked out at his wrists. He wore a red undercoat that clashed heavily with his purple overcoat which was embroidered with gold stitches. Perhaps the most terrible thing was that his pants cut off past his knees. But his legs weren’t bare, absolutely not. He chose some sort of silk stocking to run down his legs before they were swallowed by his buckled shoes.
“My apologies for the delay, Mr. Malfoy, Mrs. Malfoy,” Charlie said. “And to you, my lovely (Y/N).”
You were relieved that Lucius and Narcissa’s gazes were so zoned in on Charlie that they couldn’t even spare you a glance. Because your face was a clear tell that you weren’t expecting this at all. Whatever happened to his promise of a jean jacket and slacks?
“I’d expected him to dress like this, something reflective of his character,” Draco whispered from beside you. “A circus act.”
“Bugger off,” you warned, giving him a push away.
“It was a rather circuitous route through the dense forest and trees,” Charlie explained, dusting off a twig that was stuck in the loopy lace of his blouse. You wanted to scream. “Luckily, I had Ms. Cromwell to guide me to safety.”
“Cecile is more than fine, Charles,” Cecile assured, smoothing out his suit for him. “As we discussed on the way here.”
“And Charlie is fine, as we discussed,” he added.
“You didn’t have to walk all the way here, Ms. Cromwell,” Lucius said rather hastily. “It’s rather chilly. Let me have the house elf escort you back.”
“Nonsense,” she deflected, only giving Lucius a moment of her time before fixing a strand of Charlie’s hair that a branch must’ve unstuck. “Walking keeps me youthful in my old age. And meeting Charles, I mean Charlie here, was the sunshine to my gloomy day.”
“I couldn’t have assumed you were over fifty,” Charlie commented.
“Oh, you,” Cecile said with a loud giggle. You’d never seen the heiress act like a fifteen-year old.  “You remind me of my late husband so very much. Same name, just as handsome, and you’re dressed like him when we met as teenagers. Any lady would be lucky to have you.”
Well, at least someone in the room thought he looked charming in those dated robes.
“Men these days don’t possess that same sense of charming style. It’s always the same shades of black and white.”
Lucius and Draco both silently peered down at their suit of all black before Lucius said: “I fear that a storm could break any moment now, you best get going,” he insisted, nudging Dobby to take the heiress’s hand.
“I’m happy to provide direction anytime, Charlie,” Cecile reminded as Dobby guided—very gently pulled—her to the door. She shot him a wink. “You know where I live.”
Charlie stepped forward. “Of course, Cecile. Have a pleasant evening.”
Then, the door shut leaving the five of you in silence.
“How nice it is to be able to meet your neighbours, Mr. Malfoy, despite the circumstances of my delayed arrival,” Charlie said. “It doesn’t impress well upon me. I hope I can be forgiven for the gaffe.”
It took Lucius longer than usual to register Charlie’s words. It was apparent he was embarrassed that Cecile Cromwell was cognizant that Charlie Weasley was invited to his mansion for dinner. And was dating his daughter.
“Of course,” Narcissa answered in lieu of her frozen husband. “Shall we proceed to the dining room?”
She took Lucius’s hand and gave him a less-than-gentle nudge towards the hall. Lucius walked like the troll that had somehow stormed its way into Hogwarts in your third year. Still unable to speak, he walked along with Narcissa. Draco scampered behind your parents. All you could do was stare at the chaos Charlie caused by merely arriving.
“Come on then,” Charlie spoke in a low tone next to you. He took you by the hand as well.
“Where did you get these robes?” you asked, referring to his costume.
“It was my great-aunt’s father’s, or something of that sort. Mum wasn’t clear. It really was stowed away in the attic, and I wore it against better advice.”
“Why?”
“I’m a classy man,” Charlie boasted. “What more can I say?”
Dobby rushed back just in time to pour the wine. You were seated next to Charlie, Draco in front of you, and your parents on each side of the table.
“How is work, Mr. Malfoy?” Charlie asked through a polite sip of red when it settled.
“It’s been keeping me busy,” Lucius responded almost robotically.
“September is never a quiet time for the Ministry, as both my brothers and father say.”
Lucius was half-focused on conversation. He’d recovered from the Cecile incident, but there was another enemy: he couldn’t keep his eyes off Charlie’s hand that was doting touches on your arm and waist. Truthfully, neither could you. Charlie’s fingers squeezed sporadically and you thanked the wine glass for absorbing your squeal.
“Of course not, which is why we look forward to the summer. Speaking of, where will you summer?” Lucius asked. You nearly rolled your eyes at the uppity way he worded the question. Arthur had once asked you the same, but in a direct way: ‘Where are you going this summer?’
“We spend a day or two at some of the beach resorts in Romania, or dip into Greece, but there is one spot I’ve been dying to visit,” Charlie said.
“Where is that?” Lucius pressed.
“Your brother Theodore’s new estate in Paris.”
Lucius mouth paused mid-retort. Narcissa’s red lip was stuck, pressed against the wine glass.
You, on the other hand, had to fight the thunderous laugh rising in your chest.
“I’m sorry,” Lucius said, shaking his head with a slight laugh of disbelief. “I didn’t catch that. Where is this?”
“(Y/N) was telling me about how tremendous your brother’s Parisian estate was,” Charlie clarified, his words full of air and cheer. “I can imagine how big it is compared to this mansion. And I hear he hosts a wickedly good game of golf, which I’d be happy to partake in.”
“It’s good enough for Paris,” Lucius said. “But—”
“See, you and I are similar in that regard,” Charlie interrupted, raising a finger. Lucius’s frown grew steeper at how Charlie was now lumping them in the same bracket. “Living in the shadows of our perfect older brothers and being constantly compared to them.”
Lucius scoffed. “My parents knew better than to do that.”
‘Yeah, right,’ you thought. Your grandfather, Abraxas, loved to pit his two sons together, like they were animals in a ring. And like an unbreakable tradition, Lucius imposed that on you and Draco, and you knew you weren’t as wonderful as the perfect little Malfoy next to you.
“I would be pleased to meet your brother one day,” Charlie said. “Maybe next summer. After all, (Y/N) has met most of my extended family and there’s nothing that ties a partnership like family.”
“We’ll see what our plans are for next summer,” Lucius said. “It’s a little premature to be thinking of that already.”
“Of course,” Charlie conceded. “My apologies for being so rash.”
“Will you be returning to Romania?” Lucius asked. “Is it possible for you to have time off during summer with your job, anyway,?”
“It’s hard to be thinking about the summer already,” Charlie repeated with a smile, taking Lucius’s line and stuffing it back in his own mouth.
“So, what will you and (Y/N) do to see each other?” Narcissa quickly piped in with a wife’s intuition that her husband was going to cause a scene about the manner of Charlie’s response.
“Well, I’ll try my very best to make it back to England when I can for the holidays,” Charlie promised. “But (Y/N) is also intent on visiting Romania for weeks on end if there are time constraints.”
Narcissa was startled. “And she’ll travel herself?”
“Yes, I will,” you confirmed. Charlie glanced at over you, his expression proud and thoroughly impressed at your improvisation. You gave a small smile back.
“All that travelling does take a toll on the body, especially that of a young woman,” Narcissa warned. You redirected your attention to your wine, evading her glance over.
‘Oh, mother, thank you for always being so cognizant of the state of my reproductive organs,’ you thought.
Narcissa dug further into Charlie. “Have you considered settling down in one place?”
“Not in the next couple of years,” Charlie said. He was so convincing that you could see your future reflected in the polished glass in front of you, full of Romanian castles and mountains. “Nothing like travelling when we’re young, right, (Y/N)?”
You nodded. “Absolutely. We should take all the time we need.”
“Have you thought about marriage? Children? Wouldn’t it better for a family to remain in one place, too?” Narcissa asked, oblivious to Lucius’s eye that had just twitched. The thought of you and Charlie producing off-spring might’ve been revolting for him to forget about dinner altogether.
Charlie looked solemn. “That might not be in the picture.”
You quickly looked over. This was far from what you would’ve wanted him to say, but Charlie squeezed your knee to silence you. You almost kicked up at the table.
“It’s a shared decision, is it not?” Narcissa asked.
“Yes, of course,” you added breathlessly. Best to just play along with Charlie. “And I think, I think… the same.”
“We’ll re-evaluate in ten years,” Charlie assured.
“Ten—!” Lucius finally spoke for his wife, before cutting himself off.  “And you’ll be how old then, Charles?”
“Thirty-nine,” Charlie responded. Rubbing salt on the wound, he reminded your parents: “And (Y/N) will be thirty-three.”
Now it was Narcissa’s turn to look as white as a spirit. She had you when she was twenty-four, and Draco at twenty-six. Comparatively, thirty-three was geriatric.
You bit down to quell the laugh that was trying to escape your lips. Charlie knew how to make your parents tick and hit each box perfectly, like he was scoring points on the Quidditch field in his prime years. In your little ‘lullaby’, you and Charlie were having ten kids, but having none was clearly the better option. You did prefer your mother over your father and hated to make her upset, but the constant reminder on you and never Draco to be married, to bear children, to be a mother yourself, was a lot.
“Draco will obviously carry on the family name should my decision remain unchanged.” You nudged Draco with your foot. Your tone was devilish; it was time for Draco to bear the burden of everything. “Won’t you?”
Draco growled back. You both loved offloading familial duties onto each other.
“What is your reason, Charles, if you don’t mind me asking?” Narcissa asked.
“Seeing how much my parents had to sacrifice and give up for themselves,” Charlie responded, a tinge of sadness coating his voice.
Again, if Charlie Weasley needed a second career, acting wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.
“Well, when you make the decision to have more children than you can afford, that seems like an unavoidable issue,” Lucius said hotly.
“They struggled, but I wouldn’t trade any of my siblings for anything in the world.”
The air of the room was clouded with confusion. Lucius was set out to hate Charlie, but Charlie was acting the part of a perfect, coiffed gentleman (save for the remarks about Uncle Theo’s bigger estate and inviting himself over). Narcissa, though milder than Lucius, would’ve preferred a different man for you than Charlie Weasley, but she was upset you weren’t set out to have her grandchild(ren) anytime soon. Draco, always in the mood for a snarky comment, didn’t know whether to laugh or continue to live through the horror of a conversation your parents were actually invested in.
“Very well,” Lucius said, leaning back. “It’s a shame Kingsley’s new policies have made it harder for the working class to have children.”
You groaned internally. Even Draco, who was always on his father’s side, rolled his eyes at Lucius’s favourite topic: blaming every bad thing in the world on the current Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt. It was easier for him to have sway over his predecessor, Cornelius Fudge. Well, before Fudge was forced to resign over some controversies in his office.
“Undoubtedly,” Charlie backed him up with a nod. Lucius looked at him with surprise; he hadn’t expected him to agree. But you didn’t think Charlie was going to, based on the crafty smirk on his face. “It’ll take decades to undo the damage Fudge put forth in his years in office, draining funding from things like childcare and parental leave and putting that money in the pockets of his friends instead.”
There it was.
Shadows appeared on Lucius’s countenance. “Fudge did no such thing.”
Draco slammed his face into his hands.
Lucius continued. “He’s only ever introduced good policies, like the potential reintroduction of dragon domestication.”
“Having spent a decade near them, I can say they’re absolutely not suitable for domestication,” Charlie pointed out.
“The earliest of Malfoys have been domesticators of dragons,” Lucius stated. “And they did very well, before the Ministers of Magic intervened.”
It was a touchy topic for your father indeed. Centuries ago, Malfoys did the unfathomable: they domesticated dragons and the only way to do that was to really hurt the beasts. And hunted them for sport. The same terrible creatures that had power to burn down cities, the same creatures that people staked their lives to tame. But ethics and politics shook down on the practice, and dragon domestication reflected once again in a bad light.
Or that was what you’d read. Lucius preferred to say that those in power were gleeful to finally shake down on Malfoys. Maybe it was just transgenerational shame. You knew Malfoys hated being told what to do.
“For good reason. The fatality rate of those trying to domesticate dragons was beyond any acceptable threshold, and vice versa.” Charlie’s voice was now lower, more serious than you’d ever heard him. His lovely bass notes reverberated in your ear and sent a chill down your spine.
“So, what exactly is the point of your job?” Lucius asked hotly. “Don’t you, on a technicality, domesticate them?”
“I study and work with them, Mr. Malfoy,” Charlie corrected. In a battle for authority, Charlie was winning. “You can call it taming, if you’d like, so they’re less destructive to the environment and wizardkind. I can make them pliable for transport as well.”
Your eyes darted back and forth between Lucius and Charlie.
Behind Charlie’s cool and collected demeanour, you had to wonder if he was affected by your father’s words. You knew he cared deeply about dragons, never even taking more than a week off them in the past decade. He wouldn’t ever fathom hurting them for personal gain.
“Let’s have some dinner, shall we?” Narcissa said quickly. No one wanted to see Lucius riled up over politics.
The rest of dinner proceeded without a hitch, in your eyes at least. In between courses, Charlie pulled you close and whispered in your ears. You were sure this was for show because you didn’t understand anything he was saying, or maybe it was because you were too busy gazing into his deep blue eyes and studying every freckle on his cheek.
When the clock struck nine, and the last drop of coffee was had, Charlie excused himself to leave.
“Thank you, Mr. Malfoy, Mrs. Malfoy for such a delightful evening,” Charlie remarked at the door. “And for such an insightful discussion on dragon domestication, Mr. Malfoy.”
Charlie was tempting war.
“I would be happy to discuss this topic anytime, Charles,” Lucius responded icily.
Charlie hummed in agreement. “Of course.” Then, he turned to you.
In a flash, all you could see was a mouthy smirk that had definitely sunk ships in past lifetimes.
His right arm reached out to take you by the waist to spin you around. You expected him to only bid you goodnight but you were way off the mark. His lips remained silent. His left hand did all the talking by climbing to the back of your neck to position you how he wanted. He tilted your head back and inched closer and then—
His lips landed on yours.
You might’ve been flustered or pushed him away under normal circumstances, but this was no normal circumstance. Unsure of what to do, you lay immobile in his arms, like that rag doll you promised you weren’t going to be. Except you were, again. He was playing you like a marionette puppet and his hands were the strings. His grip on your waist tightened, his fingers digging into the fabric of the dress until you could feel each one. His lips stuck on yours like honey, like a fruit lolly from Honeydukes on a hot summer day. His eyelashes brushed against your eyelids as he tilted your head down further to deepen the kiss.
Patches of muscled torso pressed against the front of your body. Warmth seeped from his hand to the back of your neck as his palm caressed your skin while his fingers tangled themselves in your hair.
He deepened the kiss once more before pulling away.
You stumbled upwards as he withdrew himself. Your fingers ghosted over your flushed lips in disbelief, but again, no one saw. In this moment, no one cared about you.
When the stars faded and vision came to be, the first thing you saw were the agape mouths of your parents. But they weren’t going to chastise Charlie over the improper way he said goodbye; there were no words to be had.
“Have yourself a wonderful evening,” Charlie said in a manner so unaffected that you didn’t understand. He had just given you the most electric kiss you’ve ever had, and in front of your parents and brother. “And many thanks again for having me.”

The Professor & Dragon Keeper
SMUT 18+ ! DO NOT INTERACT IF UNDER 18.
READ ON AO3
Title: The Professor & Dragon Keeper
Pairing: Charlie Weasley / Original Female Character (Elowen)
Word Count: 1,084
Excerpt:
Charlie Weasley was reckless and quick. His career was too demanding to be slow and unsteady. He had not allowed himself to fall even steps behind the new Dragon keepers since they had been training at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. He had hardly taken a moment to himself since the new round of students had arrived- between training students, working with rehabilitated dragons, and other Dragon Keeper duties Charlie had hardly had a chance to catch his breath.
But Charlie Weasley was attentive in the privacy of his own tent at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. He had been working there nearing ten years- the anniversary was only getting closer.
It wasn’t unheard of for the long term Dragon Keeper to invite visitors along to his sanctuary. He had relished in the importance of the Dragon and had wanted to keep his knowledge going as much as he could. He had been frequently traveling to Hogwarts to meet Hagrid and aid in his care of magical creatures courses as well as he had expanded his own knowledge- which was where he met her .

Then and Now
17-year-old Slytherin prodigy Vi had a few secrets. He found love, and then he lost it, and he wasn't able to tell anybody about it. Grief was a battle he had to fight in silence. Nothing was fair, and nothing made sense, except maybe the guitar Cedric gave him for his birthday.
23-year-old musician Vi finds himself traveling the world for "inspiration" after his agent decides his hiatus is wrecking his career. He is not expecting Romania to be his last stop, nor is he expecting nearly being torched alive by a Hungarian Horntail to be the best thing that will ever happen to him.
This fic covers Vi (original character) in both his Hogwarts and post-Hogwarts years simultaneously. It explores a parallel between two of his life's most impactful relationships and the growth that happened in between. Also... more Charlie Weasley content. The author needed it. Read on Ao3 Read on Wattpad I’m trying to get back into writing fic since high school and unfortunately Wattpad keeps pushing my old (very bad) fics I wrote when I was 14 because their algorithm sucks, so I would appreciate any reblogs/reads y’all can spare. I love y’all. Enjoy!

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Reader
Warnings: She/her pronouns, fluff, golden retriever!fred, established relationship
Summary: You have Fred trained well
----------------------------------------------
*Y/n's POV*
Soon it will be Christmas, and I will be going home with my boyfriend to meet his family for the first time. It's exciting and scary at the same time, but for now, we live like normal. I had just gotten to breakfast when I realized I was missing my potions text book, we had potions first. I let out a frustrated groan.
"What's wrong m'dear?" Fred asked worriedly
"Nothing, just left my text book in the common room, I'll have to eat quickly then go grab it" I breath out
"Ah, no love, I'll go get it! You eat, I've been down here for a while"
"Oh will you Fred?! Thank you m'love!" I kiss him on his cheek before sitting down tiredly. If I had turned around I would have seen his blush and the way he touched his cheek with a soft smile before he went to go get the book
"Whipped" I hear Ginny say under her breath, I look toward the girl with a smile
--meeting the family--
I had been anxious to meet his family, I don't know what they're like. That's why I brought a deck of muggle cards to maybe teach Mr. Weasley a couple games.
I obviously had already met, Percy, George, Ron and Ginny. But the others I had never met. The door gets thrown open
"OH! HOW WONDERFUL! Y/n, we've heard so much about you!" I get pulled into a hug from Mrs. Weasley.
"And I, you! It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Weasley" I suddenly felt calm in her embrace
"Oh please, please darling call me Molly" she starts "We've already started dinner, I hope you don't mind"
"Of course not! please lead the way" I follow her right in through the living room to the kitchen and table area "lovely home you have" I say as I looked around with wide eyes, adoring the wood, adoring the homeliness
"Oh thank you dear, such a sweetheart" she mumbles the last part, hand on her heart
"Oh! Dar-mling! Hw ar ya-" Fred says, while chewing his food, I simply tap my finger to my lips and he lets out a sound of recognition, he chews his food quickly (with his mouth shut), swallows and stands up
"Sorry about that love, How are you?" he asked kindly
"I'm great, darling" I look over to his family who, other than Percy, George, Ron and Ginny, looked shocked
"Bloody hell, that's a brilliant witch!" a tall, muscled, red head, with scars all over any area showing, approached me "I'm Charlie, Charlie Weasley, whatever you're doing, keep doing it."
"Haha, He's trained well" Molly approached with a huge hug
"You are my new daughter in-law, I will accept no one else"
"Oh-Pfft" I let out a giggle as I turn back to Fred, he looks toward the floor with a shy smile and light blush, I grab his hand and sit at the table with my new in-laws
As the night continued I had played 4 or 5 hands of poker with Mr. Weasley and Fred, who was sulking because we were going to play without him
--The common room--
"Darling, hand me that" I pointed at the book to the left of the chair I was on, that was on a stand nearly connected to the couch
"of course Love" he said quickly while playing with a fire cracker he found in one of their old trunks
"Thank you love"
Ginny looks at Ron who looks at George, they all then break into laughter
---------------------------
That's all I got folks

Let's try again
Charlie Weasley x fem!reader
Summary: worst day of your life? Not if Charlie can help it.
Warnings: none, I think. Period pain is a warning? Maybe. Especially if you got bad cramps like me (hi, let's suffer together)
Tag list (if you want to be tagged in future Charlie Weasley fics... let me know)

Worst day ever.
Worst. Day. Ever.
First, my period started this morning. It would've been okay if it weren't for the fact that I'm one of those lucky ones with the most painful cramps. I couldn't call in sick at work because my boss is an asshole, so I had to spend the whole day at work, only to be fired at the end of it.
I arrive at home late, it's almost 11 and Charlie isn't here yet. Thankfully, I don't want him to see me like this. We haven't been dating long enough for him to see me like this.
I take a deep breath, and I go take a shower, cleaning myself will definitely help, at least a little bit.
While I shower, I try not to think about losing my job today and having, basically, no option in the immediate future. God... what if Charlie breaks up with me, too? The day got worse and worse, so might as well...
I shake my head, showing that thought far, far away from me.
Once I'm clean and comfortably dressed, I decide to make something sweet. Cooking usually helps... let's see.
I go to the kitchen and just get to work.
I want to make some honey muffin, they're Charlie's favourite.
I start by melting the butter with the honey.
So far, so good, I made this recipe a million times, and it should go smoothly.
And...
I talked too soon. Fuck. How did I burn the butter? How!?
I go to grab the pan, but it's too hot.
"Fuck!" I basically scream.
"Darling? You okay?"
I turn around, my eyes land on Charlie putting down his bag.
"Shit.." I mutter "sorry.. I... it's nothing,"
"What happened?" He asks softly, walking closer to me.
"Nothing," I say, trying my best to hold back my tears, "I just... burned the butter..."
"Let me see," he gently holds my injured hand in his, "it's not that bad. Don't worry. I'll grab some lotion. Wait here, love"
He kisses my cheek and walk to our bedroom.
Shit... he probably think I'm weak now. Always complaining about nothing... okay no... stop with these thoughts. He won't think that... stop.. stop.
I can't hold back any longer and I just cry, I try to wipe away some tears by the time Charlie walks back in, but he's already here.
"Hey..." he puts the lotion on the counter and pulls me in for hug "my love, what's wrong? I'm no doctor so maybe your hand is worse than I thought? And I should be an expert on burns"
That makes me chuckle, first vague smile of the day... all thanks to Charlie.
"C'mon. Let's sit down" he walks me to the sofa and sits us down. "Wanna tell me what's wrong?"
"I... I got my period this morning" I start to explain.
"They didn't let you stay home, did they? Assholes..." he comments "I'm sorry, love"
"Then..." I say and I see him surprised "Then... they made me do extra work and they fired... they fired me."
"What?" He exclaims, "Love.. " he pulls me to him again and kisses my head as his hands caresses my back.
"I wanted to base something, but apparently I couldn't even do that right.." I mutter.
"Hey, none of that." He says cupping my cheeks to make me look at him "look at me, you have all the right to feel like this. Just don't let it put you down. You're wonderful. Alright? Absolutely wonderful. And this is just one bad day. One. I'll help you find a new job, once your period cramps are over, of course, I mean I'm not letting you do anything until your period is done, it's the only time I can spoil you and I will take advantage of that" he chuckles.
"Okay.." I softly say, "I just..."
"Ssh. I know. I know, it sucks. Trust me. Remember, it's just one day." He looks me deep in the eyes, "one"
"You're right... thank you"
"You're forgetting something," he grins.
"What?"
"You said it to me first" he winks and stand up, holding my healthy hand and leading me back to the kitchen where he puts some lotion on the injured one.
"There," he says kissing it.
"I burnt the butter..." I say looking at the pan.
"It's no problem," he throws away the burnt mixture. "Let's try again. What do we have to do first?"
"We've made these a million times..." I laugh.
"Yeah, but I have no memory, so... what do we do first?" He's smiling like and idiot and I can't help but laugh again. "Stop laughing at me, love." He fake-complains.
"We have to melt the butter and the honey," I explain to him.
"Thank you" I say to Charlie once we're cuddle up in the bed with our freshly made muffins.
"Love.."
"No, thank you. Really." I kiss his cheek.
He sweetly smiles at me, leaning down to kiss my lips.
"Anytime, my love."
I guess, it's not the cooking that makes me feel better... is the after, when I get to eat the sweets we made with Charlie.
"Tomorrow is a new day, we'll try again. Okay?" He says.
"Yeah... let's try again." I put my head on his shoulder, enjoying his presence.

CHAPTER 1: When Lucius threatens to bring Goyle over with the intent of courtship, you fight back. Malfoys never lose, right? 1.9k words

CHAPTER 1: 23, STILL CRAZY
Before you knew it, September had fallen over the Malfoy Manor.
Now, what did a September dinner look like at the Malfoy Manor?
It looked like a long dining table engulfed by the even larger room it presided in. It looked like a warm and gorgeous chandelier, embedded with thousands of crystals, that hung overtop the middle of the table. It looked like the rattling of leaves, threatening to redden and the brown, outside in the rolling gardens. It looked like the velvet sun seeping into the windows, casting frightening shadows on the patriarch’s face.
With every second that ticked by, you felt the last of summer slip through your hands. In a few weeks, it would get darker earlier and earlier until you were dining with your family in darkness.
“Genevieve’s wedding really was beautiful,” your mother, Narcissa, remarked for the third time today. And the tenth time this week. But who was counting?
You nodded blithely. Of course, it was beautiful. Anything Malfoy money touched, despite how little thought or meaning was put it in, was stained beautiful. Truly, it was something, watching your eldest cousin, Genevieve, marry on the cliffs overlooking the French Riviera. She wore the most gorgeous dress, and her hair was done to perfection, not a strand out of place.
You were happy for her but you had to wonder: wasn’t your own happiness what mattered the most? When Genevieve was holding Maximillian’s hand, saying vows that were too pure and sweet to come out of her mouth, you were sat alone watching. Your eyes would drift everywhere. First, at Draco, beside you, who had brought Astoria. You watched your two littlest cousins, Charlotte and Clara, holding each other and tearing up at Genevieve’s vows. Then, to your cousin, Claude. Claude was Genevieve’s older brother and was clasping his girlfriend’s hand that was perched on his lap. She was probably a soon-to-be-fiancée after this event. Genevieve’s picturesque romance sparked a fever in everyone, including yourself.
And you trudged on alone the rest of the night, nursing your champagne, embraced by only the sweet sea air.
Everything was perfect from start to end. They had perfect weather (cloudless blue skies and sunshine), the perfect people in attendance, the perfect vows, and the perfect dinner, the perfect wine, and—
As much as you hated to admit it, it was bitter to be alone.
Really freaking bitter.
“You should consider a location for your own wedding, (Y/N),” Narcissa, always the optimist, continued. “These venues book up quite fast. Susan’s daughter has been on the waitlist for her choice venue for a year now.”
“The booking isn’t the hard part,” Draco, your little brother by two years, added. “The hardest part is (Y/N) finding a man that can actually tolerate her.”
“That’s true,” you said in agreement, much to Draco’s chagrin. “I don’t think any man is suitable for my standards.”
“Maybe the men aren’t the problem,” Lucius, your father, said through gritted teeth. You had probably evoked some bad memories of you abandoning the gentlemen he’d tried introducing you to at the country club.
“That’s just it, they are the problem,” you shot back. “Money or status doesn’t better a person make.”
“You won’t be holding onto that belief when you inevitably end up alone,” Lucius stated.
“Father, I may have a solution to (Y/N)’s predicament,” Draco piped up. A devious smile spread across his face. “Dear sister, you remember my friend, Goyle, don’t you?”
All that came to mind when you heard Gregory “Goyle” was a sweaty and stout boy with a forehead bigger than the rest of his face. The size of his noggin clearly housed nothing because the thoughts that came out his mouth were puzzling. And any chance of Goyle nurturing his intelligence or academic pursuits was shot down whenever a pretty girl walked by. At least he had quidditch to fall back on. He was definitely a decent beater by strength, rivalling your best friends, Fred and George Weasley. They often complained to you about his dirty tricks on the field.
“I wish I didn’t,” you lamented.
Lucius raised an eyebrow. “His father and I are acquaintances,” he mused. “He would be a decent choice of a partner.”
Goyle? That was the best your family could come up with for you? How low could they go now?
But still, you looked at your father in bewilderment. “You’re not serious, are you?” When Lucius didn’t answer, you continued. “Kiss any chance of intelligent children in your bloodline goodbye,” you quipped, swirling your wine glass around. “Wasn’t like Draco was going to propagate that trait anyway.”
“I would do a better job than you!” Draco retorted, slamming his own glass down. You smiled a bit; you’d broken him with that remark. “If I recall correctly, dear sister, there were some classes you didn’t fare well in, leading to mother and father having to visit the Headmaster personally.”
You flushed red. It was true, everything he said. It wasn’t your fault that it was just one class you couldn’t do well in, no matter how hard you tried.
“Well, if you spent more time reading than sucking off Pansy’s face in the library, maybe you would’ve graduated with distinction, too.”
“At least someone wanted to date me. Or were you snogging both of the Weasleys when I wasn’t looking?”
“That is enough!” Lucius bellowed. He was loud enough to shut both of you up. “(Y/N), this is despicable conversation and I will not have this at my dinner table.” Of course, this was all your fault. And likely, your father’s head was imploding at the thought of you having relations with a Weasley. Any Weasley.
“Yeah, (Y/N),” Draco whispered. “Don’t be indecent at the table.”
“Shut up,” you whispered back, taking a slow sip of wine to regain composure.
“I will personally extend a dinner invitation to Gregory and his family. We will dine here in a fortnight,” Lucius announced.
“What?” you blurted out. You thought this whole thing was a stupid joke. “For what purposes will you have him here, father?”
“I reckon it’s long overdue that the Malfoys officially make allies with the Goyle family,” Lucius stated. “And I’ve been left with no choice.” He was referring to all the times you’d rejected his friends’ sons.
The look on his face was stern. And for once, you couldn’t tell if he was serious or not.
“If even Genevieve can find a partner to spend her life with, then so can you,” Narcissa cajoled. You would’ve laughed at her veiled insult towards your cousin, but the situation was too dire for humour.
Your father couldn’t possibly want you to romance Goyle. You were envious of Genevieve’s fairytale wedding, but you didn’t want that if Goyle was your betrothed.
You felt acid at the back of your throat. You clenched your jaw. Anger was burned your face, anyone who couldn’t see it would be a fool.
“I won’t have it, father,” you stated coolly. You weren’t going to let Lucius, who never lost at anything, win this one. “If the purpose of the dinner is for me to entertain Goyle.”
The tension in the room was palpable; the atmosphere had taken a complete nosedive. Narcissa and Draco remained completely silent.
“You don’t get to choose everything you want to do in your life, (Y/N),” Lucius gritted through his teeth. “You’ve made a fool of me a million times over because I let you do what you wanted.”
You slumped back in your chair and huffed. Whatever your father wanted, he got. But what if there was a way to circumvent that? The wheels in your head began turning. What if it was improper to have Goyle here in the first place because—
“I’m not sure how my boyfriend would feel about that, honestly,” you said, swirling your wine nonchalantly like you hadn’t told the biggest lie in the world.
And with that, three heads swung around and fixated on you.
“What did you say?” Narcissa asked, her curiosity visible on her face. “I’m not sure I heard correctly.”
“That I have a boyfriend and I’m not sure how he’d feel if he found out my father was trying to set me up with another man,” you responded.
“That’s impossible,” Draco stated. “You just said there was no man suitable for your standards.”
“In general, yes, of course,” you said. “But he’s different.”
“Who is ‘he’?” Draco asked, trying to get you to perjure yourself.
“Why wouldn’t he have come to the wedding?” Narcissa asked. You were lucky that her sudden interest superseded any of Draco’s questions.
“I wasn’t sure how well-received he’d be around such uptight people like Uncle Theo and the rest of our family,” you said. “And he’d would’ve drawn all the attention off Genevieve, which would’ve been disastrous given her constant need for it. Maybe you could meet him in a more intimate setting, like at this dinner father is suggesting we have.”
Lucius’s lip quirked. “And to what—”
“Advantage you’ll have? If you’re looking to better our family name, I assure you he will do a much better job than the Goyles ever could.”
You were so cool despite your frantically-beating heart that you were impressed with yourself. Who knew that deep-down, you could be a stone-cold Malfoy, too? Fred and George surely wouldn’t be impressed with that revelation.
“Fine,” Lucius finally ceded. “Invite him over in a fortnight. But I must warn you, (Y/N), if you do anything to embarrass the family name…”
“I understand, father,” you responded with your hands in the air. You knew the lecture by heart. “I’ll renounce the trust put in my name, and allow Draco inherit it instead.”
“And we’ll invite the Goyles over with the intention of courtship.”
Lucius thought you’d be upset about that, that it was a good enough threat to put you in line. But you didn’t care. You had the wealth of your own savings and the knowledge that Draco would always be your family’s favourite child. If your parents had it their way, Draco would inherit everything and he wouldn’t have to split it with their failure of a daughter. He was brilliant and golden; you were the runt.  Empty threats like that meant nothing to you.
“You’re a liar,” whispered Draco from beside you.
“I would never,” you shot back. “Just wait and see.”
“Oh, I’m just aching in anticipation,” he said. “To see how badly you’ll embarrass yourself.”
You rolled your eyes, and adjusted your posture on your seat as the main course, salmon and asparagus, was served by Dobby.
Tumblr media
When dinner concluded, you ran up the stairs without a look back. When you were certain you were alone and that every single sound-proofing charm was cast on your room, you frantically opened your drawer. You pulled out a directory and slammed through the pages. Names of old classmates and acquaintances whipped past your vision, but no one seemed to fit what you were looking for: a fake boyfriend to get your parents to sod off for the rest of your life.
You were going to wage another Wizarding War if you asked your male friends who were dating or engaged to other women. And any of the boys you danced off at the country club certainly weren’t going to be on your side.
“Fuck!” you exclaimed, slamming the directory shut.
With a heavy sigh, you leaned back again the bed. You would figure this out tomorrow, if Fred and George could carve out some time for you.

Charlie Weasley x reader
This is a repost since the old blog doesn't work anymore. 🥰Also if you want to be tagged in future Charlie's stories let me know❤️
Summary: the library is usually a peaceful and quiet place... sometimes it's not.
Warnings: non-con touching, heavy mention of rape, it might trigger someone, so don't read it unless you're sure about it.
Tumblr media
The library has always been my favourite place here at Hogwarts. It's quiet and... magical. Quite a bold thing to say considering I'm living in a magical castle, a magical school that teaches us magic.
Regardless, the library has a different kind of magic. Different stories, different adventures and different people to "meet".
It's always been my favourite place, I prefer it to the ball after all...
It's not that I don't like balls... it's simply not my scene.
Charlie, my best friend and boyfriend, doesn't mind it. He knows I sometimes enjoy books more than people, he teases me about it but never makes me feel bad about it. He's more social than me, however, I think he's gonna join me soon.
I look for a book to read and when I find it I go sit down in one of the quieter spots in the library.
I start reading Frankenstein, one of my favourites and I just get lost in the pages as if it were the first time.
I get so lost that I couldn't hear someone enter the library, not until I heard footsteps getting closer.
"Charlie?" I call, but no answer. "Charlie? Is that you?"
"Someone way better, don't worry, babe"
Kyle. God... can't this guy take a hint?
He's been bothering me all year, even before I got with Charlie he constantly asked me out, tried to touch me whenever he could, always leaving notes here and there... some very explicit.
"What do you want?" I ask, trying to hide how nervous I am to be alone with him.
"A girl shouldn't be alone on a night like this, don't you think?" He asks back with a smirk.
"I'm very much okay on my own, thanks," I tell him dryly.
"Where's your little boyfriend? He should be with you" he looks at me up and down walking closer to me slowly "that's not very nice. Leaving you here... alone... anyone could come in here and just take advantage of you"
Realising his intention, I quickly stand up and just go to move away from him, but he quickly catches me and makes me walk backwards until he corners me against the wall, his face's too close to me and even though his hands are not touching me I feel completely stuck.
"This is not funny, Kyle. Let go" I say, even though it comes out shakier than I intended.
"Nor is teasing me as you do" he replies.
"What the-"
"Don't play with my emotions, sweetie. You're breaking my heart here." He pouts "I think you should apologise"
He moves his hands from the wall next to my head to my hips, squeezing.
"N... no... Kyle... please. Don't." I plead while I push his hands away from me, failing.
"Sh sh sh, we're just gonna have some fun, babe."
And with that, he leans down to kiss me and when I move my head to avoid him, his lips simply meet my neck.
I keep trying to push him off, but he doesn't let go.
He just keeps caging me.
-------------
Charlie's been dancing all night, trying to have fun with his friends, which he had of course, but there was one thing missing.
Her.
Y/n convinced him to stay and enjoy the ball, saying he could've joined her later. But Charlie can't seem to think of anything else except "I wish she was here"
"Go find her, mate," one of his friends tells him. "You've been miserable all night without her"
"I haven't" Charlie defends.
"Sure..." his friend replies with a laugh "go. You've waited long enough"
"Enjoy the rest of the night" he shouts at them as he rushes out of the Great Hall.
He knows exactly where his girl is.
Charlie decides to treat her a little bit, he rushes to the kitchen and asks the elves for some sweets.
"C'mon! You know those are her favourites!" Charlie tries to convince the cooks to let him take some pastries.
"You know you shouldn't be here" one of the Elves playfully scolds him.
"Yeah... but... but she deserves that. Right?" Charlie smirks. "I mean... you all went out of your way to make her that big... huge cake for her birthday. I'd say I'm not the only one caring for her"
"Fine! But only for her, Mr Weasley." The elf tells him to gather some of those delicious pastries she (and Charlie) loves so much. "Go now, before a professor sees you"
"Thanks!" Charlie grabs the food and rushes out, heading to the library.
'Can't wait to see her' he thinks.
-------------
I don't know how long had passed since Kyle ran away.
I just know I can't move, not because I'm tied up or anything... I just don't have the strength to do that.
He got what he wanted and left... but not without a threat.
"This isn't over." He said.
I try to stand up, everything hurt, but I manage to stand holding onto the desk next to me. My dress is ruined, torn apart by Kyle's disgusting hands.
I'm taking deep breaths to calm down when I hear a voice. I can't understand who that is or what they saying yet.
"Love? You in here?" I freeze when I realise it's Charlie's happy voice.
Shit.
He can't see me like this.
I don't have any time to think of a way to hide though, he immediately finds me.
"Love? I brought some...." he stops, and I can't even turn to look at him "love?"
I feel him walking close and I take a small step back, he stops.
"Y/n, what's wrong?" He asks getting worried.
"I... I was.." I shakily try to speak.
"Love, can I come closer? Is that okay? I won't touch you if you don't want me too, I promise" his sweet tone manages to comfort and calm me a little.
I nod slowly and he walks to me, putting down a small package on the desk.
I recognize it... it's from the kitchen.
Charlie...
"Can I do something? Tell me what I can do and I'll do it" he tells me. "Want me to go get someone?"
"No. Please... " I say looking up at him, at his worried face. "Just... hold me, please?"
He instantly wraps his arms around me careful not to cross any line.
I start to sob, turning around to hug him back and hid my face in his chest.
"I'm here, my love. You're okay." He whispers caressing my back.
"Kyle..." I start and I feel him tense.
Charlie lets me go and helps me sit down, him sitting in front of me holding my hands in his. His full attention is on me, and even though I know he's already furious his expression is still soft and loving.
"Kyle came looking for me here... started to say his usual nonsense." I take a shaky breath "saying things like how I shouldn't be alone on a night like this and that you weren't being a good boyfriend... That he was better."
Charlie gently kisses my hands, I notice his eyes slightly watering. From anger or sadness, I can't exactly tell... maybe from both.
"He then...he... he started touching me and... and then he... did that," I say in between sobs.
"Love..." he gently pulls me closer to him kissing my head reassuringly.
"I'm sorry.." I say.
"No." He pulls away to look me in the eyes "no. None of that. Okay? Nothing of this was your fault. Do you understand?"
I nod weakly.
"Please, say you understand. None. Of this. Was. Your. Fault. Okay?" He urges, still using a sweet tone.
"I... I understand" I say and he nods, kissing my head once again.
"Do you want to get out of here?"
"Please"
"Boathouse?"
I nod.
He gently helps me up and holds my hand ready to walk out.
We don't get too far before he suddenly stops.
"Almost forgot the pastries, love," he says taking a package he put on the desk.
"Are those...?"
"Yap," he says proudly popping the p.
"You didn't have to," I tell him, holding onto his arm.
"You know I like to treat my girl properly"
We walk to the entrance of the castle to get out and finally head to the boathouse, Charlie offered his jacket to help cover my body.
We're almost there when we hear another voice calling for us.
"Mr Weasley? Ms L/n?" Professor McGonagall catches our attention "shouldn't you be in bed by now?"
"I'm sorry, Professor... we're... Uhm..." Charlie starts to explain.
"What happened?" Her demeanour suddenly gets softer. "Ms L/n?"
I look up at her with tear-filled eyes I open my mouth to say something but no sound comes out.
"Want me to..?" Charlie softly asks and I nod. "Stay here, love."
Charlie walks to Professor McGonagall and starts to explain what I told him.
"Are you sure, Mr Weasley?"I hear her ask.
"Yes, ma'am. 100% sure. And it's not the first time he bothers her." Charlie says, getting angry.
"Why didn't you say anything earlier?" She asks again.
"Because we always thought he was just all talk. Also, she didn't want me to do anything, because I'm not gonna lie, professor, if I find him in front of me I wouldn't hold back" he firmly explains.
"I know, Mr Weasley. I wouldn't blame you. The only thing that prevents me from letting you is that you'd most likely get in more trouble than him." She tells him, and her words make me smile a little.
"Does that mean you're gonna do something about it?" Charlie asks hopefully.
"I will, Mr Weasley." Professor McGonagall walks close to me "I'm sorry, ms L/n. I promise you, I'll do anything in my power and make sure there will be consequences"
"Thank you, professor. Thank you" I say, smiling a little.
"Now..." she sighs "I haven't seen you sneaking out. Alright?"
Charlie just laughs and thanks professor McGonagall, who winks at him nodding for us to go quickly.
"Let's go, love"
We quickly walk outside to the boathouse.
Once we get there Charlie builds a sort of fort for us to sleep in.
"You okay?" He asks me while we both lay down.
"Yeah" I softly answered.
"Is... uhm... is it okay..?" Charlie's hesitant to ask, wanting to get closer to me and wrapping his arms around me like he always does when we sleep together.
"I always want you to hold me, Charlie." I get closer to him so he can put his arm around my middle "You're my safe place"
"I'm sorry I wasn't there... I should've-" he starts apologising but I turn around to face him.
"That wasn't your fault either. I don't blame you, I would never. The only one to blame is him" I say and then kiss his cheek.
"He's lucky professor McGonagall will take care of him. If it were for me.."
"Love... I think he would be luckier if you took care of him. I'm not sure you saw the look in her eyes" I chuckle.
"I guess you're right" he laughs "but still if I find him before them... he's done"
"My hero" I smile at him grabbing his hand and interlocking our fingers.
"I try" he smirks then turns more serious "I love you"
"I love you more. And thank you for the pastries."
He kisses my head and then we just lay there together enjoying each other's presence... and the pastries of course.

Another Day
A/N: July’s prompt for @hp-12monthsofmagic is “Surprise…”, and this story contains a fairly big one. I’ll let Charlie tell you about it… Warnings: two minor swear word, one of which barely counts as a swear. Tagging: @fantasywriter19 and @toads-in-my-pockets, who I think may particularly enjoy this little story.
Tumblr media
The sun was high in the sky, making the autumn leaves on the ground glow in shades of gold as Charlie arrived in the front garden of the Burrow. From inside the house, the sounds of laughter and clattering pots and pans could be heard as he crunched his way across the yard to the front porch, still dizzy from his Portkey.
He knocked on the front door and was greeted by his mother, who immediately smothered him in an almost rib-breakingly tight hug.
“Bloody hell, Mum. It’s like you’ve not seen me in six months, not six weeks!”
“Well, six weeks is a long time when I had gotten used to you being around all the time,” Mrs Weasley replied. “It’s just lovely to have you home, dear.”
Charlie’s mother let him go, looking almost expectantly behind him before sighing deeply.
“What’s the matter?” Charlie asked her.
“Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. I thought that maybe… Oh, never mind. Come on inside, dear.”
Shaking his head despairingly, Charlie followed his mother inside the house. It didn’t look quite the same as it had when he was growing up, but it still felt like home, a fact he was grateful for, given the state the house had been in at the end of the war. The Death Eaters had completely ransacked the house and destroyed parts of it; it had taken Charlie and his brother Percy the best part of a year to fully restore it to its former unglorified glory.
In the living room was Percy himself, along with Charlie’s other two eldest brothers and their father. Charlie hugged each of them in turn, finishing with his older brother, Bill.
“Where’s Fleur?” Charlie asked him, looking around himself as if his sister-in-law might suddenly appear out of nowhere - which, in fairness, she could.
“She went for some air,” replied Bill, smiling broadly. “She’s out in the back garden watching Harry and Ginny teach Teddy to ride a broom.”
“Right. And the others?”
“Ron and Hermione should be here any minute now, and knowing Artemis, she will be here ten minutes late.”
“Of course. Why break the habit of a lifetime?” Charlie said, raising his eyebrows knowingly. “I’ll go and show my face outside.”
In the back garden, Fleur Weasley was sitting on a deck chair with a glass of water, watching Charlie’s sister Ginny and her boyfriend holding a blue-haired toddler upright on a broomstick. At the sight of her brother, Ginny left Harry and Teddy to their flying lesson and ran across the grass towards him.
“Did you come here alone?” she demanded, without even saying hello first.
“It’s nice to see you too, Gin.”
“Yeah, whatever. Answer the question.”
“Uh, yes. Why?”
“Oh, mum was getting all excited. She got it into her head that you were bringing a girl home as a surprise.”
Charlie blinked. “Why would she think that?”
“Because Mum just loves marrying people off, doesn’t she?” Ginny laughed. “And because you only ever usually come home when it’s a special occasion.”
Ginny had a point, Charlie had to admit that. When he had first left home at eighteen, he struggled to afford Portkeys, and always found himself feeling more homesick returning to Romania after visiting his family. Going home infrequently had become somewhat of a habit, but after the war ended and he moved back to Romania following a year’s sabbatical, his priorities had changed. He had visited more often in the last five months, but it just so happened that his visits had coincided with big events: Ginny’s graduation, George’s shop re-opening, Ron’s engagement. This was the first time he had come home without there being some sort of occasion, the first time that it was just another day in the life of the Weasley family.
“Anyway,” Ginny continued, apparently not noticing the somewhat guilty conscience of her brother, “Mum started putting twos together, you know what she’s like.”
“She does like putting twos together.”
“So, you definitely haven’t brought a girl home, then?”
Charlie looked one way and then the other, before holding his hands aloft and shrugging his shoulders.
“Mum will be disappointed,” Ginny laughed, and Fleur smirked into her glass of water.
“I expect zat she will cope,” she said wryly.
From inside the house, Molly called that dinner was ready, and the whole family made their way towards the kitchen. Charlie ducked under a platter of roast potatoes making its own way to the table in order to greet the latecomers: his youngest brother Ron and his fiancée, and Charlie’s best friend from school, Artemis Hexley.
“Trust you to arrive just in time for food,” he muttered to her as he pulled her into a hug. “Though you could’ve at least brushed your hair.”
“Oh, piss off,” Artemis prodded Charlie in the ribs and wriggled out from his arms. “How was your journey here, anyway?”
“Not too bad.”
“The grannies of Ottery St Catchpole all survived you apparating, then?”
“You know, that joke stopped being funny about eight years ago.”
“To you, maybe.”
Artemis grinned wickedly and made her way to the table, Charlie following behind her. As the plates of food were passed around and the kitchen was filled with the sound of lively conversation, he realised how much he had missed moments like this. This was exactly what he had wanted for his visit home.
When the chatter at the dinner table reached a natural lull, Charlie cleared his throat quietly. Before he could say anything to fill the gap, however, Bill rose to his feet.
“I didn’t realise there were going to be speeches,” said George, through a mouthful of food.
“I’ll be quick, I promise,” Bill laughed sheepishly. “It’s just that while everyone is here, I - well, Fleur and I - wanted to tell you all something.” He placed a hand on his wife’s shoulder and smiled at her so widely he looked as if he might burst from happiness, before telling the rest of the family: “We are going to have a baby.”
Suddenly, the kitchen was filled with even more noise and movement than before. Molly and Arthur Weasley rose from their seats to embrace their oldest son and daughter-in-law, Molly making high-pitched noises and crying. Percy congratulated them heartily, and Artemis dropped her fork on the floor in surprise.
Charlie bent down to pick it up and handed it back to her, their eyes meeting as the fork exchanged hands. She pursed her lips and raised her eyebrows, and he gave her an almost imperceptible shrug in response.
Just like that, the day now belonged to Bill, Fleur, and their unborn child. The talk at the dinner table had turned to babies, to names and dates and sleeping arrangements. Even after dinner ended, the discussion continued, with Charlie’s mother rushing to find the family albums to find photos of her own seven babies for everyone to look at, an ordeal Charlie managed to escape by offering to clean up after dinner.
“Can I just grab a glass for Fleur?” Bill asked him, once everyone else had retired to the sitting room.
“Of course you can,” Charlie ducked out of the way of a cupboard to allow Bill to summon a glass from it. He chuckled to himself and shook his head. “I can’t believe you’re going to be a dad.”
“Neither can I.”
“You must be so happy.”
“I am,” said Bill, still smiling. “Terrified, but happy.”
“It’ll be alright. You’ll be a great dad.”
“Thanks, Charlie.”
“I mean it,” Charlie held his hand out to Bill. “Congratulations, mate.”
The two brothers shook hands before wrapping their free arms around each other’s shoulders.
“I’m just glad you decided to come back this weekend,” Bill said. “We didn’t want some people finding out before others, and you know how hard it is to get everyone in one place when it’s not for something specific.”
“Hm, yeah.” Charlie nodded, aware that Artemis had just entered the room and pulled a face that made it hard for him not to laugh. “Tough, that.”
“I mean it, thank you. Anyway, better give this to Fleur. Sorry, Artemis, didn’t realise you were behind me.”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine.” Artemis paused before briefly hugging Bill around the waist. “Congratulations, by the way.”
She watched Bill carry Fleur’s glass out of the room, before leaning back against the kitchen table and watching the dishes wash and dry themselves at the sink.
“You didn’t fancy looking at the photos of baby Bill in the bath, then?” asked Charlie.
“Not really. I lived with him for half of last year, if I wanted to see his knob I’d have had plenty of opportunities to do so.”
Charlie laughed and used his wand to direct the clean plates into the cupboard before joining Artemis on the edge of the table.
“So much for it just being another boring, regular day at the Burrow,” she muttered quietly, rolling her eyes.
“I never said it would be boring,” replied Charlie, his voice also lowered. He sighed. “That’s the thing about big families. There’s always something going on with someone. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“Honest?”
Artemis turned her face towards Charlie, holding his gaze.
“Yeah,” she said, completely honestly. “If anything, it’s kind of funny. You had this brilliant plan set out for weeks, and Bill swoops in at the last minute with the exact same idea.”
“Well, they say great minds think alike,” Charlie grinned. “You think that’s funny, you should hear what Mum and Ginny said.”
“What was that?”
“They thought I might be bringing home a girlfriend this weekend.”
“Did they really?” Artemis smirked. “That’s brilliant. What did you say?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing at all?”
“No, I just went like this,” Charlie held his hands up slightly and shrugged his shoulders. Artemis blinked at him. “What? It works every time.”
Artemis burst out laughing, using one hand to stifle the sound of her giggles as Charlie shushed her through his own.
“We can’t now, can we?” she whispered, once the two of them had composed themselves.
“Not really, no.”
“That would be unfair.”
“It would,” said Charlie. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. It’s just good to have you back.”
“It’s good to be back. I missed you.”
“You too.”
Charlie cast a glance over his shoulder at the door before wrapping his arm around Artemis.
“So, now what?” she asked, reaching across him to take his free hand, her fingers walking over his like the rungs of a ladder.
“We let them have their day today, and then we will just have to make a new plan so we can have our turn another day.”
“And that’s when we’ll tell them about” - Artemis’ eyes flicked from Charlie’s right hand in her lap to his left on her shoulder - “us?”
With another look back at the door, Charlie pulled her closer to him, kissed her hairline, and rested his chin on the top of her head.
“Yeah. That’s when we’ll tell them about us.”
