1. most of his body is grafted !!

2. grafts are red or purple the first couple of years before meshing with the natural skin color. grafts are healthy skin being merged with burnt skin. So, there are parts of his body that healthy skin was removed.

3. grafts last several years. which is usually 7-8 years.

so, all in all, dabi could've gotten new grafts right before joining the league. hence why they're purple over the course of the year he's involved with the lov. he might have an underground plastic surgeon who changed them out.

dabi (touya) wakes from his coma in the hospital with afo's scientist buddy. this ensues;

(i hope this is in order)

he is about 16 in these panels, so if grafts last about 7-8 years, he should get them replaced at 20/21. (he was 13 when he went into the coma, and i assume they put the grafts on him immediately).

he's 23 in season one, so he probably got the grafts a year before at 22.

the thing is, his quirk burns him more, so he probably has to change the grafts more frequently. he'll definitely got new ones in season 7 because of this;

he has more purple on him, so he probably got new grafts after the fight in season 6 and revealing his identity.
