Noctis vs Clive

Having a convo with @eremiss the other day, about the tonal differences and speed of the FF15 event versus that of the FF16 crossover. And I do think that is a reflection of their respective games.

I haven't played (or watched) 15, but from what I know, a big point of it's start was "the boys' trip." Noctis spends time with his friends/trusted retainers, having adventures and sidequests and minigames, going fishing and taking pictures, all before fate catches up and breaks all of them.

Clive's story, meanwhile, is very focused on the central quest. He's a man who has everything and everyone stripped away, and only over time does he regain some of what was lost, and new friends besides. While there are party members who come and go, Clive's the only controllable character, with only 2 very brief switches to another character. There are no minigames in 16; there's some sidequests that help complete a collection of mementos, and Hunts that feed your blacksmith's crafting, some fight challenges, and...that's it. There's not a lot of whimsy in Valisthea as it teeters on the brink of Armageddon thanks to a capricious god.

The crossover events really reflect these differences; Noctis, while eager to get home, and willing to do his duty to face Garuda, is mostly relaxed and takes time to hang out with the WoL, talking about his friends. He's confused, but willing to explore and learn.

Clive, meanwhile, is taken from a very specific, single point in his story, as he's facing a terrible and difficult moment, his mind refusing to accept it. He's introduced to Eorzea as an amnesiac, not only to avoid spoilers, but focus on reaching this key moment where he realizes who he really is. There's no slowing down or stopping for Clive (even in his game, a period of downtime results in a 5 year time skip to get right back to active story).

These events really reflect the characters and tone of their games, the styles in which they're told. FF16 is a very lean, MSQ-focused tale, and disaster begins Clive's journey toward fate. FF15 is a bit more traditional, starting Noctis's path a bit more innocuously with danger a background rumble to start, giving him and the world a little time to breathe, before ramping things to their climax.

RWBY x FFXV: Last Request

Sequel to:

It had been a week since the Battle of Haven and Noctis, Jaune, Sun and Ren were gathered together in the house. Weiss and Neptune were out on a date, which left the boys together with Ruby, Yang, Blake and Nora. All four of them were engrossed in the game, Remnant. Jaune chuckled, amused.

Noctis: Hm? What's up, Jaune?

Jaune: Nothing. I'm just watching the chaos unfold between the girls. It's kinda cute.

Yang: Ha! I win again!

Nora: No way! You totally cheated!

Ren: ...you have a very weird defition of 'cute'.

Sun: Aw lay off, Ren. He's just lovestruck.

Jaune: *chuckles* You're not wrong. Seeing them over there reminds me of what we're fighting for; peace on Remnant. *turns to the boys* But the Battle in Haven got me thinking. Before we take on Salem, is there anything you'd like to do one last time with the girls?

Sun: Umm... well, I haven't really thought of it.

Ren: Me neither. I've been so focused preparing for Haven that I didn't even consider what would come after that.

Jaune: What about you, Noct?

Noctis: *turns to Ruby and sighs* 🎵Slow down, lie down. Remember it's just you and me.🎵

Jaune: 🎵Don't sell out, bow out. Remember how this used to be.🎵

Sun: 🎵I just want you closer, is that alright?🎵

Ren: 🎵Baby let's get closer, tonight.🎵

Jaune/Noctis: 🎵Grant my last request and just let me hold you! Don't shrug your shoulders, lay down beside me!🎵

Sun/Ren: 🎵Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere! But one last time let's go there, lay down beside me, oh!🎵

Sun: 🎵And I've found that I'm bound to wander down that one-way road, oh.🎵

Ren: 🎵And I realized all about your lies. But I'm no wiser than the fool that I was before🎵

Noctis: Sounds like a great idea. Come on, first round's on me!

Jaune/Sun: Yeah!

As the boys left, the girls were left with bright red blushes and their cards lay on the table forgotten.

Yang: *hands over her mouth* ...did that really just happen?

Nora: *slowly nods head* ...uh huh.

Blake: ...*smiling slightly* wow.

Ruby: ... *whispers* you're wonderful, Noct.

In true me fashion, it's a crossover AU! I worked with @bibright as my writer to bring you defiance of prophecy, but Ignis this time!! He's really gone through the wringer, it's super good and there's a whole novel's worth of reading thanks to him!! if the Chocobros (and Luna) had Pokémon...

in honor of Pokémon Day recently i tried to assign some 'mons for the Chocobros (and Luna), but I got stuck.

here's what I have so far. the idea is to assign two or three to each, with each Chocobro having a Steel-type Pokémon and either a Ghost-type or a Dark-type. Luna gets Psychic- and Fairy-types instead. additionally, Ignis's name meaning "fire" means he HAS to have a Fire-type.

Noctis: Prinplup (later Empoleon), Gengar, Umbreon Ignis: Corviknight, Delphox, ??? Gladiolus: Aegislash, ???, ??? Prompto: Togedemaru, Decidueye Lunafreya: Gardevoir, Espeon

my only restriction (aside from the themes I've decided above) is that I don't want any Gen 9 or later 'mons because I am a Distortion World enthusiast who's thoroughly disappointed in how TPC handled BD/SP, so I refuse to touch Scarlet/Violet.

Okay... I have had this fanfic idea stuck in my head for a couple of days...

A crossover between ff14 and ff15 where Thancred, Alisae, Alphinaud and the warrior of light (my character Amethyst in this case) gets teleported to the world of ff15 as the Scions explored some old Allagan ruins.

The four enters abour a year before the story of the ff15 game and they try their best to find a way home. The thing is just, they can't use their magicks because the aether is far too thin for them. Greately weakening Amethyst. Only two out of four were able to fight. So they hide away within Insomnia where they try to gather as much information as possible.

I have a lot more where that came from. But I'll leave it at that for now. I know the people who follow me don't follow me for the final fantasy stuff (>×<)

(The worst uncle in Lucis, out causing trouble in Dissidia)

"So this is the young rascal who's been giving you the runaround."

Ardyn leaned down to prod Cloud's cheek and almost lost a finger for his trouble. He laughed, high and merry, and crouched to meet his eyes.

"Oh, I like you!" Ardyn chuckled. "You look like you're much more fun than this dour angel, hmm?"

Cloud glowered at them. "This is the world of Respite, Sephiroth. You can't hurt me here."

"Not physically, no," Sephiroth answered blandly.

Ardyn stood up and offered Cloud a hand. "Come on then, young sirrah, up you come. Do tell me, why does this great turkey of a man fret all day about chasing you down?"

Cloud shrugged with a sullen look. "Wish I knew."

Sephiroth arched a haughty brow. "He's a failed clone of mine."

Ardyn squinted at Sephiroth, then at Cloud. "Hm. I see what you mean. Really only got your eyes, didn't he?"

"By clone he means extension," Cloud snapped, "Just another walking avatar of Sephiroth."

Ardyn considered this. Then he turned back to Sephiroth. "I don't think you've quite got the idea of how cloning works, old boy," he said.

Sephiroth looked, overall, nonplussed. "I'm not the one making clones. That would be Hojo."

"Well this Jojo person, whoever they are, is a bit rubbish at their job, aren't they?"

Let it never be said that Cloud Strife passed up an opportunity to needle Sephiroth. He scoffed. "Hojo is the reason Sephiroth exists. He's either his old man, or just the weirdo who rewrote his mitochondrial DNA to be the child of a sentient plague."

"Cloud-" Sephiroth's placid front flickered for just a moment. But it didn't intimidate Cloud the way it used to.

Ardyn counted out a few fingers as though trying to follow Cloud's explanation. Then he curled his lips in distaste.

"Good gods man! And I thought my family was messy!"

I imagined Noctis and Cloud playing FF7r, Cloud in Noct's lap, all cuddly, and when in game Corneo calls Cloud a kitten, Noctis snorts, and whispers against Cloud's neck mischievously. Noctis: Pff, guy is so clueless. Cloud's not so much a kitten, he's more of a bunny... a fuck bunny. And then he receives a playful elbow to the ribs as he giggles like a school boy. And then I wanted to draw them both with their pet bunny and pet kitty, with matching ears, and all the while I forgot it's Easter and this would be so fitting to post! But Happy Easter anyways!

RWBY Versus XV: A Bitter Reunion

Blake was frozen in fear as she saw Adam for the first time in over a year. He stood over a severely wounded Team SSSN and scoffed at them before turning to her.

"Hello Blake," he greeted. Blake twitched as she was face to face with her old partner. She could reach for her sword, but it wouldn't do any good. Adam was vicious and he could easily break Gambol Shroud like a twig. But running away was out of the question too. Adam was vindictive and he wouldn't stop until those who opposed him were dead.

"B-Blake!" Sun wheezed, "P-Please r- agh!" Adam angrily kicked him in the face to silence him. Drawing his sword, Wilt, he placed the tip towards Sun's back, slowly adding pressure. Sun clenched his fist as the sword started to burn him.

"Adam, no!" Blake screeched.

"What's it gonna be, little sister?" said Adam, "Are you gonna let him die?" Blake grit her teeth and drew her sword, charging at Adam. The two of them clashed swords with furious speed. "You and I were destined to change Remnant and then you turned your back on us! On me!"

"I never wanted to fight the humans!" Blake shouted, "My fight was against racism and prejudice! The White Fang was created for equality! Peace!"

As those words hit his ears, Adam started to lose it and he pushed her to the ground and drew his sword to her neck. Blake shifted Gambol to its pistol form and aimed it at near his head.

"Peace between humans and faunus is impossible! The humans are nothing but vile, filthy scum! Have you forgotten what they did to me?!" Adam grabbed onto his mask and tore it off, revealing the scar on his left eye, a brand with the letters 'SDC' burned onto him. Even after all these years, seeing it made Blake sick to her stomach. Slowly Adam lowered his sword and offered his hand, "Listen," he spoke calmly, "High Leader Sienna doesn't take kindly to deserters. But I can convince her to give you a second chance. Please come to back to me, come back to us. We can be a family again."

Blake kept her gun raised, her hand shaking slightly.

"I'd rather die than ever join you again!" she hissed. Adam's right eye shrank and he grabbed Blake's arm, crushing it. She screamed and tried to break free from his grip, but the pain was too much and she eas low on Aura. Sun could only watch in horror as he struggled to move.

"Killing you would be too easy," Adam said coldly, "First you need to suffer." Blake felt a sharp, burning sensation near her stomach as Adam stabbed her.

"AAAAAAAGH!!!"

"BLAAAAKE!!!!" Sun yelled.

"Get off of her!" Cried out a familar voice. Blake and Sun turned to see Yang, her eyes glowing red and her hair ablaze.

"Yang, no!" Sun warned her.

"D-Don't!" Blake wheezed. Their words fell on deaf ears as Yang leaped towards Adam, her fist raised and glowing with yellow flames. Suddenly, she tumbled and crashed to the floor as Adam drew Wilt and sliced off her arm.
