#for afo who lived to possess everything... when the last thing he really wanted (his brother) is gone he just lives for himself

Tumblr media
What point is there in ruling the world, if the people you want in it are already gone?
The goal to rule the world is hollow now. All For One wanted a world where everyone existed for his sake.
Tumblr media
Yet, the one person (possession) he wanted most by his side, as the one whose dreams inspired him to find his own, and the first person AFO declared them to, is already gone.

You know, in AFO's place, I would have really been very angry with Yoichi and felt betrayed, not wanting to justify any of the atrocities that AFO committed, but Yoichi only had the opportunity to live and be good because AFO did the dirty work for them to survive, All for one provided (in his view) everything to Yoichi and while Yoichi contributed nothing other than his presence, and when things are finally working out, and even after giving him a Quirk, he goes there and abandons you, and joins his enemies who would kill you if they had the chance, regardless of whether Yoichi was right or wrong, in AFO's position I would feel devastated and would be very angry, from AFO's perspective it looks like he spat on the plate he eat
I think it's ironic that as a child afo viewed yoichi as something that was weak and provided him with nothing, kept around solely because he viewed him as a possession. only for him to later spend the majority of his life chasing after his quirk as it was one of the few pieces left of him, he even kept his severed hand after he died. then he spends his last moments finally admitting that he needs yoichi.
and yeah I can see how afo would feel this way, but at the same time he kind of dug his own grave there. he treated and viewed yoichi as something he owned and while official english translation left it out, afo said his dream was for everyone in the world to exist for his sake just like yoichi does which just goes to show how he views yoichi as a person, just someone who lives for afo and afo alone. 😬
also remembering this panel from 408 where the left side is how yoichi was living with afo while the right is how he lived with kudou and bruce. just look how much better his living situation got once he was away from afo. and yoichi knows what afo has done for him "you kept me alive", he just wishes afo would stop treating people like expendable things. that's literally all he wants from afo, to stop hurting others for personal gain.
Tumblr media
and afo just expected yoichi to just shut up and follow him as he's always had once he declared his dream, but yoichi just wasn't going to do that anymore lol. which resulted in the vault, and forced isolation for long periods of times is a form of psychological torture. fandom jokes about it a lot, but it's extremely screwed up what afo did just to get yoichi to join him.
but I believe afo truly did want to connect with yoichi on an interpersonal level, but he was unable to because of the way he grew up, learning only to get what he wants by force so he tried that with yoichi (forcing him to stay by his side and conform to his ideals, not wanting to let him go and try to be his own person, only what afo wanted him to be) and all it did was push yoichi further and further away. quite tragic really.
I think it says a lot in how yoichi was willing to run away with strangers that for all he knows could be planning to hurt him later on as a way to get to afo rather than stay with the brother he's known all his life. just shows how unbearable afo's controlling nature was. it's not easy to leave everything you've known behind, but he had to do it for his own sake. afo was only getting worse.
so yeah I don't think afo should've been surprised at the fact that yoichi refused to look back at him when he was running with the rebels in the sewers, too bad yoichi had to pay for afo's own jealousy with his life.
it's not like vestige yoichi takes joy in seeing afo being beaten, you can see him though the fight looking almost sad that it has to come to this. maybe in a different world they could've been happy.

Thelreads, MHA 272, Replies Part 1
1) “Let`s see how many heroes will bite the dust, on Chapter 272: Good Morning!
Ha, fucking, ha, Horikoshi.”- Let’s see how many heroes will be the dust! Certainly going to be hard to sift them out from the rubble. 2) “Oh boy I have a feeling this town is in for a makeover…”- First the town, then the country. Tomorrow, the world! 3) “Oh boy, been a while since we last saw this batch of kids. Glad to see Bakugo continues to be an ass, I was worried he could`ve changed while I wasn`t looking.
Now, being rude is understandable, but refusing a chocolate bun? Unforgivable. I hope Shigaraki teaches you a leason, I hope he kicks your ass for that sin”- Bakugou’s here to do his job, not to accept charity. He’s at least dialling the assholishness down a little from the licence exam. 4) “massive oofs in the chat for this poor writer, I have a feeling he is about to have a bad time.
Don`t worry man, they are just going to dust the place a bit while you`re gone…”-Hopefully he saved a copy of it to the cloud… 5) “I see that manga boy from class 1-B is there as well… “-Koji’s Quirk at least gives hope of the animals in the area being evacuated, though whether they ran far enough once the crumbling started is another matter… 6) “And now back to the ominous warning.
But alas, none of them know the End approaches. They are oblivious to their doom, blissfully unaware of the horrors that this way come.
He`s coming
And no one will be able to stop him.”- If only Izuku had had more time to train, but alas, AFO and Tomura aren’t interested in waiting for a strong opponent to crush beneath their heels, they want to get started now… 7) “Yeah, sure thing number one, now if only you could tell him how the fuck to do that, because holy shit, I think that`s a bit of a tall order, even All Might on his prime wouldn`t be able to do anything.”- Decay was already a dangerous power for All Might to face in a fight back when Tomura was starting out with a weakened, slower version of it. One Touch, and his mighty muscles would start to break apart. It wasn’t an issue because of how fast All Might was, and his ability to create air gusts, but that was before Tomura modified himself to a level comparable to All Might, with a stronger version of Decay backing him up, and the original AFO Quirk pre-loaded into him, along with all its accumulated and varied powers. The only way Izuku has a chance now is if he can somehow unlock all the remaining Quirks of OFA and utilise the full power of the Quirk safely without tearing himself apart in the next 5 minutes, before Tomura tears him to pieces anyway. By the same token though, there really isn’t anything or anybody else on the heroes’ side who has a realistic chance of stopping Tomura but Izuku, precisely because of the immense full power of OFA he possesses. Even if he’s far away from the hospital right now, Tomura can steamroll any opposition in the way until they finally throw down. 8) “Yeah, trust me, it won`t be long before you guys are hit full force. And Shigaraki won`t even be nearby, his power is just gonna reach you from this distance.
There`s no escaping the End”- His hatred is all-consuming, and now it literally consumes everything around him. 9) “Why are you talking like goddamn Dormin from Shadow of the Colossus?”- Tomura wanted the power to strike even the godlike AllMight from the earth. Now that he’s gained it, he’s become something….other than human in the process. 10) “…
Shit, that was actually chilling, no pun intended.
God, things are about to get fucked, aren`t them?”-Tomura didn’t even kill him because he was a threat or could warn the heroes, he killed him to steal his cloak to warm himself up. The mentality of ‘destroying everything’ around you understandably would result in a lot of death, but now human lives matter let to Tomura than getting small creature comforts, which is arguably a final insult to X-less, that he died for so petty a reason. 11) “Oh boy, I think Gran Torino already saw something. He seems to be the one that realized that something bad is approaching.”- Speedy reflexes are only useful if you can sense the encroaching danger in time to use them before it’s too late. Gran Torino didn’t get that old by not being able to tell when it’s time to book it. 12) “THE END HAS ARRIVED
RUIN COURSES THROUGH THE EARTH ONCE AGAIN
RUNNING IS FUTILE
THE END HAS ARRIVED”- This moment genuinely feels like something out of a horror film, like an unstoppable force of nature has been unleashed upon the world, akin to a curse from a deceased ruler buried in a tomb from long ago bringing a plague upon the lands to torment the living, a plague that cannot be fought, only endured and, maybe, survived. 13) “OH YEAH, I THINK IT`S TIME WE START RUNNING”- Unless you’re Iida, Tensei or Koichi, I genuinely doubt the average hero has a hope of being un outrun the flow of Decay upon the ground. That wave was unleashed from the Hospital and reached the city in under 3 minutes or less – that’s just too fast for most people to escape from even with a motor vehicle. Tomua said he wanted to be sure to obliterate everything with his amped-up Decay, and now, nothing that walks upon the Earth. can escape him. 14) “WELP, SEEMS LIKE THE OL` DOC GOT WHAT HE WISHED FOR
HE HELPED BRING RUIN TO THE WORLD
AND AS A REWARD, RUIN SHALL GIVE HIM ITS
BLESSING
…”- His goal has been achieved, the genie is out of the bottle, and now there’s nothing the heroes can do to thwart it anymore. He’s lived twice the lifespan of a normal man solely to achieve AFO’s ambitions, and if those ambitions involved tearing down everything the heroes have created and he gets caught in that? A fair price to pay, to his twisted mind. @thelreads

I have this really angsty idea about an bnha / mha end where, in order to defeat AFO, Izuku needs to trust Tomura and give him One For All.
*Edit: Please check this other post after reading this. It's the comfort counterpart of this post, with how things work out in the end and how all the sadness fades into a new light.
The vestiges just need to help holding AFO back, because the mix of the two powers are too much for his body to handle and Tomura plans to decay himself, finally putting an end to what his sensei started.
And what if the news are streaming it happening in live in every screen of Japan? Now everyone is watching how Tomura is giving his life in one of the most painful ways possibles to avoid Izuku or All Might dying, to save the world.
Imagine the reactions of the League of Villains, watching Tomura do everything he can to make their dream come true: a new world, where they are accepted, where they are free, free of AFO and free of the whole "heroes and villians" point of view.
Imagine the reaction of the pro-heroes that never respected Tomura and thought he was just a man child. Imagine them finally understanding that Tomura needed rescuing but none of them gave him the hand he needed. And now there's nothing they can't do to erase the tragedy of a kid that even while he's dying, he won't stop smiling and telling the world everything will be alright.
Imagine class 1-A seeing it all and knowing that it could be Izuku. They could be the ones losing a friend. The are so similar, how could they not see it before? And even if Tomura was a real villain, there's people who love him that are losing him too. He's human. And he's— he's—
Imagine Ochaco and the girls holding Toga back, because she's struggling to go with Tomura. No one have ever seen her crying like that. Why? Why can't she help the man that became like an older brother to her? He promised to never destroy what she loves, but now he's decaying himself like he doesn't matter, like she doesn't love him, like she wouldn't give everything to share his pain one last time.
Imagine Natsuo and Shoto having to pin Dabi to the ground because they know he longs to do the same as Toga. Imagine Rei hugging her son after so many years, holding him in her arms, trying to calm his fire with her ice, whispering whatever she can to reassure him. But what can she do? She heard the story of how that other kid lost his family and she wonders, she wonders about the mother that ran to his child even as he decayed her. The Touya she knew was filled with rage and bitterness and even if he's still there, in the tears of blood of her son now she finds the silhouette of a man that learned to love. And now the man who taught him that, that showed him kindness and mercy, has only minutes left. She weeps for the mother that would never see her child becoming a hero, she weeps for his own kid, a living corpse more than ever, empty eyes, resigned. She weeps for herself. They have Touya back, but she's wondering if the cost of righting those wrongs is too high.
The whole League needs to be held back. They have lost so much, so many times. Over and over again they've seen their friends die. No one cared except them. No one cared for Magne or Twice or Compress arm. Only them, tight together in dirty holes and lonely buildings.
There's nothing the pro-heroes can do.
Spinner is sobbing and screaming that all along Tomura has been more a hero and a human than any of them. Fuck Stain. Tomura fought for them when Stain was too busy fulfilling his selfish wishes. Fuck everyone. Tomura broke himself again and again and proved that he cared about them when no one else did. He was the champion of the fallen, the hero of those who had lost hope. He, the kid that was left to die, the kid that was groomed and manipulated, a living experiment who was even possessed, abused in so many ways, dismissed. If there's someone that should be destroying the world, that's Tomura. He had lived with the greatest shadow on Earth. And there he was, using the quirk that everyone said was for killing to kill their fear, to kill they're sadness, to put at end to the suffering. A light so bright no evil could ever fade it.
Imagine Aizawa and Present Mic being with Kurogiri while he's losing the kid he raised, his loved son. For a decade and a half he watched that kid get taller, smarter, stronger. He saw his anxiety and his traumas, he stayed the nights he couldn't sleep, he went every time Tomura called his name. Imagine Shirakumo begging them to save him, because that's his child. Tomura is to him what Eri is to Aizawa. That's his kid. That's his kid. And he's paying for something he didn't do. A fucking tragedy. And he's dying alone, in the hands of the man that broke him for almost two decades. To save the people that wanted him dead.
And finally, imagine Tomura asking them with his last breath to take care of each other. Imagine Tomura asking everyone who's listening to just stop that nonsense of waiting for somebody else to do the rescue. If only someone, anyone, would have taken him with them when he was a kid, none of that would be happening. Everyone can be a hero or a villian, that's not something quirks determine. Quirk or no quirk, it's not about being strong or fast or smart, it's about doing the right thing because you want to, because you want to make the world a better place.
He apologizes to the League and ask the people to understand and forgive. He doesn't want his friends— No, his family, to suffer like he has. They still has time. They can live now. It's okay. He smiles one last time, so much like Nana... Toshi feels how a part of him dies too as Tomura laughs. "Celebrate for me, would you?"
He has saved them.
And he banishes, no more than dust floating around during the dawn. No more white hair floating like a halo of stars or red eyes like morning suns. No more reassuring smiles or raspy voice. No more.
He's gone.

save no matter what.
so this is going to ultimately be a post about Deku. however, if you’ll be so kind as to indulge me, I would like to start things off by making a point about Bakugou. specifically, I’d like to point out that back in the day before this kid got Character Development no Jutsu’d, people weren’t always so inclined to view his attitude towards winning in the best light. which is a nice way of saying that he came off as unhealthily obsessed, not to mention more than a little unhinged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry for the image spam btw, I just think they’re funny. he’s so demented lmao. KILL DIE CRUSH.
anyway so we’re gonna do the rest of this below a cut before it gets long. but I promise it really is a Deku post lol. don’t let the pre-readmore stuff fool you. I PROMISE THERE IS A POINT, AND WE WILL GET TO IT.
anyway! so yeah, we really didn’t have the best impression of Bakugou’s whole winning fixation at the beginning there. and I mean, it’s not like we had the best impression of Bakugou himself at the start of things either. we were already primed from the very first chapter to see this kid as an adversary to Izuku. the story goes out of its way to paint him in pretty much the worst light possible. which is why what happens next is so interesting.
because one might see all this and think, “holy heck, this kid is off the shits, somebody needs to set him straight pronto and get it into his head that winning isn’t everything.” because that’s almost the natural conclusion to draw. “look at this kid, he doesn’t care about helping other people at all, all he cares about is winning, someone needs to come along and show him that he’s got it backwards.”
except that’s not what happens, is it? because this is where, much to my delight, Horikoshi came along and started subverting expectations. because not only is Katsuki not rebuked for being so obsessed with winning -- it’s pretty much the exact opposite.
Tumblr media
the one and only time Deku ever straight up hands Katsuki’s ass to him is when he says he doesn’t want to win. Deku is IMMEDIATELY all, “THE FUCK KIND OF BULLSHIT DID I JUST HEAR OUT OF YOUR TRASH MOUTH,” and that’s when he sets him straight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the important people in Katsuki’s life never tell him, “hey you need to cool it with the whole winning thing.” All Might and Aizawa never scold him for it, or tell him that he shouldn’t try with everything he has to win, or that wanting to win is a bad thing. on the contrary, they both commend him for it. and ultimately, he’s told by All Might that this desire is actually one of the two fundamental qualities that every great hero needs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he completely turns the whole thing on its head. not only is it not a bad thing, it’s actually crucial. essential. because what the desire to win really is, at its core, is tenacity. it’s the fiercest kind of determination. it’s not something he should be ashamed of; it’s something that sets him apart, something that makes him worthy. he is someone who refuses to back down no matter what. refuses to give up, no matter what. and this quality, which is initially misunderstood by some to the point where even the villains mistakenly take him for one of their own in the making, is eventually validated to the fullest degree by the person that Katsuki looks up to the most. his desire to win goes from being this awkward “son wtf are you doing” thing to being one of the core philosophies of the series. and ever since then, we pretty much don’t question it.
so why do I bring this up now? well, the answer to that can basically be summed up in one word.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“parallels.”
so here’s the thing. there’s been a lot of talk lately about Deku’s ridiculous, reckless, and absurdly self-destructive desire to save others while having little to no regard for himself. currently he’s lying in a hospital bed, having broken approximately 218 out of the 206 bones in his little hero body (yes, somewhere along the way he found an additional dozen bones to break). it is worrying. it is Concerning. and it’s raised a lot of questions, such as “???” and “wtf is this idiot doing.”
and a lot of people have been pretty critical of him! this is, of course, an ongoing thing with this child, and people have been giving him grief over it going as far back as chapter 6.
Tumblr media
while others have been bothered by it going even further back than that.
Tumblr media
and I’ve seen these sentiments being echoed pretty frequently in the fandom as well. and there are basically two talking points that I want to address here. the first is the idea that Deku’s aggressive brand of selflessness stems from an inherent lack of self-worth. in other words, because he prioritizes other people’s safety and well-being above his own, and is willing to go to such drastic lengths to save them, there’s this feeling that he doesn’t value himself enough, that he must not care about himself.
but I don’t think that’s quite it. let’s go back to those parallels first, though. let’s take another look at Kacchan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what I mainly want to call attention to is the intensity here. again, it’s something that at first strikes most readers as being absurdly over the top. the truth is, I think a lot of people simply can’t relate to it. Katsuki cares about winning with a ferocity and a fervor that most people, for better or worse, simply don’t have. I certainly don’t, lol.
but he does. to him it’s not a shallow, superficial thing at all. it’s important to him, perhaps the most important thing. I think we often talk about it in terms of it being a desire, but imo a more accurate way to define it is not as a want, but as a need. in other words, it’s the opposite of the question “what is it this character wants” (i.e. “what is it they can’t live without”)? instead, it’s a question of “what is it they don’t want” (i.e. “what is it they can’t live with”)?
and in Katsuki’s case, the thing he can’t live with is feeling like he hasn’t tried his absolute best. he needs to give his all in everything he does. he wants to win, but winning just on its own is not enough.
Tumblr media
it has to be earned. he has to prove to himself and to everyone else that he deserves it. anything less than that is unacceptable. anything less than that, and he can’t be at ease. he can’t be settled. he can’t rest. and so he puts everything he has into winning, even if it means going to extremes. because it’s that important to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s something that’s at times alarming and even disturbing for others to witness. but nonetheless, it’s a part of who he is, and at the end of the day his teachers accept that, and the story acknowledges that it’s his greatest strength.
so now, to finally bring this back around to Deku, this is what I keep seeing in his character as well. only in his case, the thing he can’t live with is knowing that he didn’t do everything he possibly could to save someone. or to put it another way, Deku, at his core, is someone who cannot rest until he knows that everyone is safe. simple as that. it’s not just a desire to protect people; it’s a need. he needs to know that everyone is safe and protected. otherwise he can’t be at ease. it’s no different from how normal, everyday people aren’t able to feel at ease unless they know that they are safe and that their loved ones are safe. it’s just that in Deku’s case, this same fundamental need extends to everyone, not just himself and his friends and family. everyone. he can’t live with himself knowing that someone was in trouble, and he had the ability to do something to help, but didn’t. and so, if you literally can’t live with not doing something, you basically have no choice but to do it.
and this is what in my opinion defines Deku’s character. Kacchan, in trying to understand it, noted that Deku doesn’t seem to take himself into account. but I think OFA Prime summed it up a little more accurately. “he rages for the sake of others. for them, he does his best until he can do no more. this young man is possessed by a drive to save others that eclipses all common understanding.”
so yeah. it’s not that he doesn’t care about himself at all, it’s that he cares about others even more. he has that same intensity and ferocity towards saving people that Katsuki has towards winning. and just as it was difficult at first for fans to understand Katsuki’s feelings, it’s hard to fathom the sheer depth of that “save everyone” feeling that compels Deku to break his own body in that pursuit. it’s scary, not to mention extremely destructive and dangerous. and so really, it was almost inevitable that there would be some backlash.
but just like Katsuki’s desire to win was ultimately validated in the end, I think Deku’s desire to save others will be as well. in fact it already is being validated, for starters by the other denizens of OFA, led by Lil Bro as mentioned above. let’s go back for a moment to that same scene.
Tumblr media
here we get a huge hint that “Deku gets taken down a notch and chewed out and scolded for his recklessness” is not, in fact, the direction that the story is going in. because in general, when the main villain starts mocking the hero and saying that they’ve done something wrong, that’s a very good sign that said hero is actually on the exact right track. like, no offense, but as far as character critiques go, AFO is probably the least qualified person in the entire manga to start offering those up lol. so yeah. if AFO is denouncing Deku for something, and OFA Prime is praising him for that exact same thing, I think it’s safe to say that means he is in fact doing something very, very right.
“okay but makeste, he nearly got himself killed and broke all of his arms AND legs and is now lying in a fucking coma,” you say, gesturing emphatically to the last page of chapter 298. “so I mean, that’s all well and good that Wonder Boy has the best of intentions and all that, but at the end of the day he’s only one kid. he literally can’t save everyone, and if he pulls one or two more stunts like this, he’s going to get himself killed.”
and okay, but this here is the other talking point that I wanted to address. because it’s true, Deku does need to learn a specific lesson here. but that lesson is NOT that he can’t save everyone. this is a superhero story, guys -- “you can’t save everyone” is never going to be the underlying message, ever. it’s the OPPOSITE of the message. Deku is the hero because he tries to save everyone. because he doesn’t give up on saving people no matter what. that is literally the core of the story. it has been since the very first chapter.
so then what is it that Deku actually needs to learn here? well, once again, it all comes back to those parallels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
btw, I really just love how he’s carrying Katsuki there lol. he’s just so done with him.
but anyway. so, the final exam arc. Katsuki initially wants to win at all costs -- but there’s a hitch. because even though he wants to win, he refuses to do so while working with Deku. enter Deku’s left hook, and one impromptu Rival Encouragement Speech later, our boy has thankfully come to his senses.
but here’s the point -- the lesson here wasn’t “you can’t always win.” rather, the lesson that Katsuki needed to learn was that you can’t always win alone.
yeah. so now you can see what I’m getting at here.
Tumblr media
“...on your own.”
that’s the key. this is the one and only thing that Deku actually needs to get into his head. wanting to save everyone is fine! his will to save others has never been a weakness -- it’s been the most admirable thing about him from day one. it’s what makes him strong. it’s why All Might chose him. it’s why OFA has chosen him. it’s what sets him apart, and I firmly believe it’s what will ultimately help him save the day and defeat AFO as well. because what other character would look at Shigaraki Tomura, the person who just impaled his friend and destroyed an entire city, and instinctively reach out a hand to try and save him? and if you don’t think that’s going to wind up being key to the final battle, you and I have very different ideas about this series’ endgame.
Deku’s determination to save everyone isn’t arrogance or futility. it is and always has been his greatest strength. but what he’s missing now, what he needs to learn, is simply to trust. y’all might have seen that theory about the Fourth’s quirk, and why All Might was so hesitant to tell Deku about it. basically, the theory (which is based on an attempted translation of the crossed-out parts of All Might’s OFA notebook) goes that the Spidey Sense was so overwhelming that the Fourth -- whose cause of death was one of the things crossed out -- eventually couldn’t bear it, and went to live alone in the middle of the woods somewhere. and possibly wound up killing himself?? all of which is just speculation right now of course. but it makes sense. and it would certainly explain why All Might, being all too aware of Deku’s self-destructive tendencies, would keep that from him.
but if this is the case, that means it’s clear that the Fourth’s solution didn’t work. “give up and accept that you can’t save everyone” clearly is NOT the answer to be had here.
the answer is trust. trust that his fellow heroes have his back. trust that they’ll be able to help him reach the people he’s not able to reach on his own. trust that they can work together to save everyone. that he doesn’t have to rest the entire world on his shoulders alone.
it’s the one lesson that All Might, his predecessor and his teacher, never learned himself until it was too late. but of course, All Might never had a prickly and determined rival who was ready to step in and deal out some tough love if need be. a rival who, perhaps, just might soon get a chance to repay an old favor.
Tumblr media
“I don’t wanna hear you say you can’t save someone.”
I’m just saying. just as Deku has been watching Katsuki all this time, and admiring his determination to win, and emulating it himself, so has Katsuki recently begun to emulate Deku’s determination to save others. we’ve seen it not just in his recent act of self-sacrifice, but even in little things like his habits and tricks of speech. just like Katsuki is Deku’s image of victory, Deku is becoming Katsuki’s image of saving others.
and so I’ll bet you anything that if Deku ever starts to doubt himself, or starts feeling like his dream and desires are futile, Kacchan will be there to set him straight with a good old fashioned Rival Encouragement Speech of his own. possibly with his own left hook to match, though his left shoulder is currently out of sorts atm so he might need to modify that approach a little bit. but the point is, he’ll be there. and he will not allow Deku to give up on himself. he will be there to remind him that he doesn’t have to face this alone.
so yeah! finally managed to wrap up my giant Deku meta which I’ve been working on for ages and rewritten like fifteen times lmao. just in time for this to be relevant for all of a day, probably, depending on what happens once chapter 279 drops lol. but yeah. tl;dr, local boy tries to do too much, but his heart is in the right place, and hopefully all he really needs is a good pep talk from his tsundere bff to set him to rights again. r.i.p. to the Fourth, but he’s different.

Hello!! It's me again!! Thank you for answering my ask 💜 Can I give a follow-up question?? Back in Ch.318, Second was giving a side-eye when the "bolster" thing came up, but in Chapter 321, his eyes are now closed when the "bolster" line repeated.
Basing on what you said, if second is looking for soldier heroes to support Izuku, then this would seem that he's satisfied by Class A?? If the closed eyes is an indication of relief/satisfaction??
If that's the case then Second must be looking for more people when Katsuki arrived in Ch. 318. But do you think there's more to that side-eye??
I may he delusional but I honestly believe that there's something more to that Ch. 318 Katsuki panel. Hori wouldn't give it too much focus if it was for nothing (unless it's just Katsuki fanservice 😂 I won't complain if that's only it tbh).
Do you think Second is skeptical about Katsuki specifically??
There are already two times where Izuku lost control of OFA and went feral because of his emotions.
The first one is back at the JT arc where BW first manifested. It went berserk because he lost control of his emotions and got angry.
2nd is Danger Sense manifestation. Izuku went insane feral to the point that he ALMOST lost OFA right then and there if it wasn't for the interference of the Vestiges.
Interesting to note is that Katsuki is always at the center of these events.
I've already read analysis saying that Katsuki may have become a berserk button/last straw for Izuku. So if we think of it that way, maybe that side-eye means he isn't happy to see Katsuki, but when the whole class arrived he's now more relaxed ??
We still know little to nothing about 2nd, and he physically looks like Katsuki. They also kind of share the same mindset (2nd's "winning despite casualties" and Katsuki's "winning with zero casualties")
And so I really believe that something is bound to happen with second and Katsuki.
What are your thoughts on this specifically?? Do you think this is gibberish or not??
That’s a really good question! I don’t think it’s gibberish at all!
If Second is feeling shaky about Izuku’s odds of success, and wants to bolster him with people who are willing and able to keep up with him, then Second wants (1) forces, not just one person; and (2) people that won’t distract Izuku from the mission. As you pointed out, Izuku going feral and losing control of his heart puts him at risk of losing OFA, since OFA was born from — and continues to obey — a strong will. If Izuku is the last chance to defeat AFO, then Second wants Izuku’s will to remain strong and under control. Like it or not, Izuku is the “chosen one” on the hero side that (as far as we know) holds the power to defeat AFO. (Realistically, I think Izuku + Tomura will need to work together to stop AFO, with support from 1A, the LOV, All Might, and the pro heroes, but that’s a different topic!!)
To your q about something happening between Second and Katsuki, I agree it does seem there’s more going on. Second bears a physical resemblance to Katsuki, and Yoichi bears a physical resemblance to Izuku (green eyes, functionally quirkless, lives in a fantasy world of comic superheroes). Attitude-wise, Second and Katsuki focus on winning while Yoichi and Izuku focus on saving. Second has Third as a follower, while Yoichi has a “squad” with Nana and All Might. So, there are lots of different ways Katsuki could come into play:
It could foreshadow Katsuki learning to become a good leader while still supporting Izuku like how Second supported Yoichi and they worked together. More “Get behind the nerd” and less “Get behind ME, nerd.”
You’re right that Second could be wary of Katsuki as a “berserk” trigger for Izuku. Erupting into DvK3 at the wrong moment could certainly distract Izuku and create an opening for AFO. Or if Katsuki is a “known” vulnerability for Izuku then KATSUKI could become AFO’s target.
There are LOT of times when AFO and Katsuki are close to each other, with AFO knowing Katsuki’s name and touching Katsuki (warping in Kamino; stabbing in the war). If Second was watching everything through Izuku’s eyes, he might be suspicious AFO has some kind of control over Katsuki and can use him like a spy/Trojan horse.
OFA was “truly born” when Second rescued Yoichi from AFO’s imprisonment. That could foreshadow Katsuki rescuing Izuku from imprisonment or possession by AFO (or by OFA, if it’s truly cursed — this could make Izuku/OFA an “enemy” to Katsuki that he nonetheless must extend a hand to save).
….or it could foreshadow the DEATH of OFA, with Katsuki rescuing Izuku (the person) at the end of the final battle. I suspect that Katsuki and All Might will work together somehow; like Katsuki will help Izuku & Tomura in the physical world and All Might will help them in the vestige world.
It could also be something we have yet to learn! Hori loves the slow reveal, giving us crumbs of info over dozens of chapters. We could suddenly get a flashback full of vestige backstories — or nothing. It’s the thrill and agony of being a BnHA fan.

Yandere Alphabet - All For One
Masterlist
Yes, technically this isn’t NSFW per se, but it gets into topics racy enough that I’m posting it here. And c’mon, who doesn’t enjoy delving into the twisted maze that is AFO? He’s neck-and-neck with All Might as the scariest yandere in this series anyway, but that’s another can of worms.
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
He’s very generous with the affection, but only if you’ve kept in his good graces. He’s not picky about doling out punishments if you act out. He keeps it fairly innocent unless the mood strikes, and even then he doesn’t care who’s in the room when he decides to seduce you.
Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?
He’s the single most dangerous villain in the history of Quirks and has no hesitation to take what he wants when he wants. I feel like that should answer itself fairly well.
Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?
He’s gentle with you, but firm. His first priority is to make you dependent on him, and comforting you even as you demand answers. Depending on how violent/aggressive you get, however, he’s not above leaving you alone by yourself in a locked room for a while to stamp out that temper. As soon as you start acting nice, he treats you kindly again.
Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?
Not in the classic physical sense. He’s manipulative, yes, but he’s not going to force you into anything -- at least, not yet. He wants your will to bend and break before he truly starts doing things with you that you might otherwise say no to. Patience is key - and lucky for him,  he’s got a lot.
Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?
He tells you very little about himself other than the basics you already know: all-powerful villain who can take and give any Quirk he gets his hands on. He might liken you to his little brother once or twice, and perhaps if in a good enough mood he’ll tell you stories of when they were both young, but otherwise he’s a mystery to you.
Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?
Amused. There’s literally nothing you can do to him that hurts, and for a while he’s content to let you think you’re gaining back control, only to crush that determination at the most heated moment. If you continue to act out, however, he will start to lose his patience and will treat you harsher and harsher, outright abandoning you in a locked room with food and water delivered once a day until he feels you’ve learnt your lesson.
Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?
It doesn’t matter if it is or isn’t; chances are, he’s already won. He does enjoy watching you go about, thinking you’re being sneaky when he’s already figured out your entire plan to escape. At the very last moment when you think you’re going to get out, he enjoys seeing the hope fade from your face as you realize you’ve failed. It gives him a lot of pleasure breaking you.
Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?
Being locked in a cell, alone, with nobody to talk to until he arrives to bring you food. He only wants to isolate you like that when you’re being stubborn; otherwise, you’re locked in your shared bedroom.
Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?
First and foremost, he wants to rule his new empire with you at his side as his loving spouse. Your Quirk is deemed helpful enough that, should you be able to, he would like a few children sired with you to see what kind of Quirks they would get (or not, in which case he’d be delighted to share one of his with them and train them to use it).
Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?
He’s not exactly jealous, but rather paranoid. His way of coping with that is to keep you locked away. You’re his, not anyone else’s, and he wants you to accept that.
Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?
He’s very affectionate. Loves holding you in his lap as he caresses your hair, maybe a kiss or two on your forehead. He’s very charming, too; likes to joke around with you and is quite playful when you’re in his good graces.
Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?
He met you while you were briefly in Kamino Ward and afterwards desired to have you for himself. He found out where you lived and worked and started sending anonymous gifts (along with a cell number) in the guise of a ‘secret admirer’ until you agreed to meet him over text. When you did meet, you were a bit intimidated by his size, but after a few successful dates you were already falling head over heels.
Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Absolutely. Most of the time, he acts charming and enigmatic, but when you piss him off, everyone knows it. The sheer weight of his aura is enough to even make All Might shake in his boots, and for good reason. He prefers not to let his charismatic mask slip, though. It’s much easier to manipulate others when they believe you to be weaker than you are and think they have the upper hand at all times.
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
Depends on what you did. If he thinks you’re just being bratty, he may spank you, chiding you the whole time. If you piss him off? Total isolation. 24/7, 365-366 days a year. At least, until he believes you’ve learnt a lesson. You’re locked in a cell with only a cot, toilet, and shower, and he himself delivers food to you once a day as your only form of human communication. Cameras are trained on you at all hours that only he can access. He doesn’t fuck around.
Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?
At first, he’s quite generous. He allows monitored correspondence between you and your family. He allows you to go places only with either him or Kurogiri present at all times. He allows you near sharp objects only with supervision (like when you cook dinner together). But if you piss him off, he takes everything away, including privacy. Get sick? Need an exam? He gets Garaki to check you out, and he watches the whole time.
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
He can be exceedingly patient. His thinking is that you’re just a petulant child who needs to learn their place, and if he has to dole out a few punishments along the way he will. He just wants you to realize that he won’t let anything happen to you and that he just wants the best for you (that issue is subjective).
Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
You know how he (presumably) reacted to his beloved little brother dying? That. Again. And this time, he would be less lenient on those he deemed responsible. He rules with an iron grip.
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
Doesn’t feel guilty at all, and absolutely won’t let you go. It’s partially his Quirk to blame; when he sees something (or someone) he desires, he just has to have it/them. He considers you to be totally his, and he won’t stand for anything else taking you away.
Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?
As stated above, it’s partially his Quirk, partially due to being born in a turbulent time of history. Quirks were still becoming more common at the time, and he was already protective of his brother due to his perceived Quirklessness and because he was using his Quirk for good. He made too many enemies that wanted to hurt those close to him, and due to his paranoia (as well as his possessive nature), force of habit dictates that he isolate those he deems his.
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
Condescending pity. He dealt with that kind of behavior once, with his younger brother, and it nearly broke him then trying to get him to see how much he loved him. Now he’s older and more patient, and all he can do is try and comfort you by petting your hair and telling you that it has to be this way, he just wants the best for you, why can’t you just understand?
Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?
When he does lose it, he doesn’t ‘go mad’ in the classic sense -- rather, his resolve hardens and he retains his temper. His is more of a tranquil fury - it’s not immediately obvious unless he chooses to show you. He wouldn’t physically hurt you either -- well, not enough to wound you. He would consider spanking, but he wouldn’t break your legs.
Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?
Oh, honey. You really think he won’t see what you’re doing and shut it down when you think you’ve gotten free? He’s All For One. There’s not a weakness he hasn’t already thought through.
Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?
Aside from light things like spanks, no. Mentally, though? He’s a manipulative, gaslighting monster. He will not hesitate to turn you against everyone you’ve ever loved if it meant you were more dependent on him alone.
Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?
He goes the traditional gentleman route: wooing you slowly enough that you don’t realize what’s happening until it’s too late. He reveres your body in all of its beauty when you get intimate, but he rather wants you to worship him devotedly.
Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
If anything were to make him snap, it would be you (against all odds) escaping his grip. Maybe one of his underlings somehow slipped you out under his nose. Maybe another decided to just dump you somewhere. Either way, he’s going full lockdown mode and will not stop until he finds you. And believe me, he will find you.
Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?
That’s probably the first thing he does if you’re stubborn/defiant enough. If you prove to be totally into it and are willing to be totally dependent on him, congrats! You get to escape with your will mostly unharmed!

I'm just curious what your thoughts on Shigaraki are. Im praying he gets control back. I would be so sad if the body take over is dragged out. It looks like they are going the save Tomura route which is great but my thought is that means we won't get him back till the end.. I swear if they have Eri rewind him 😤 I hope it's OK to ask you this, if not please ignore and accept my apologies and have a good day. ☀️🌞
Ha ha it’s alright! I don’t mind talking about my favorite character, and musing out my thoughts about what might happen. Of course, keep in mind this is just my thoughts/viewpoint, and I would never say anything I muse out about this is a fact; I’m not the writer after all.  I’m just going over the story bits we already know and considering what could possibly be the story-direction we’re going towards!
(Also warning, this is probs gonna get a little long-winded because I have a lot of thoughts about this, and Tomura and Izuku’s stories are pretty tightly tied to the larger one at hand about the world they live in.)
To give you a short summary: I think Tomura might indeed stay possessed for a while, and perhaps Izuku could team up with his friends to help save him from this possession. I also don’t think Eri should be using her powers a whole lot right now in the story, given her trauma and age. She needs to heal herself first to avoid unintentionally causing more damage to her mental state. Trauma recovery takes time, often more than what we’ve seen so far in the manga.
And now for the long-winded explanation (under the cut so this post isn’t ridiculously long:)
So, considering the overall narration and themes Horikoshi has used in the manga, it feels reasonable to say that one of the end goals in all likeness is to “save” those the current society would not bother saving, including Tomura, and especially Tomura, considering his character and story kind of symbolizes the overall failures and problems of this society. His BG touches on so many bad things and problems wrong with the way their world runs currently.
(Apathy from people being over-reliant on heroes, lack of proper help for mental health, hero idol worship that makes people neglect their families over their duty as a hero, abusive parental figures, dehumanization, etc.)
Izuku’s main goal, the goal of his story after all, is to become the greatest hero as the beginning narration expressed. The most reasonable way to do that given the things we’ve been shown about this world, is to do something none of the current heroes would; save those deemed “unfit” to be saved. It’s not only something personally fitting to Izuku’s character, but holds larger symbolic meaning for the overall narrative. I actually saw somebody discuss this particular topic in a post a while back, that put it better than I ever could.
(click the link if you’re curious to read it, it’s a pretty interesting one)
Now, what that saving means in practice is likely going to be more complicated, since the people in question have done bad things that deserve consequences, and I won’t deny that.
However, one of the biggest issues is, that the way this society functions seems to kind of be the very source of these villains doing bad things. If only somebody would’ve bothered to pick up this scared kid walking on the street before AFO got to him, none of what is happening now would have happened. (or at least, it would’ve been someone else in worst case scenario)
So, to go back on what you actually asked about; I do think that in order to reach the goal Izuku was set, he does need to free Tomura from that possession, that’s probably the least he can and should do.
In that sense, it would honestly make sense it would happen close to the end of the story as the best way to symbolize Izuku becoming the greatest hero - saving even the person who everybody else likely deemed unworthy of saving.
Not to mention, I recall Horikoshi mentioning that he planned the ending to be something where heroes and villains have to team up to reach an end goal of sorts. Izuku teaming up with Tomura’s friends to save Tomura could fit into this concept.
As for Eri...her rewind powers are bit of a...yeah. I also have lot of thoughts about that so bear with me.
They’re pretty difficult from narrative perspective, because they come off very “deus ex machina” or “magical fix all” that removes any stakes, and I’ve seen from the fandom people wishing Eri to just magically fix everything each time somebody is horribly injured, which...that’s a tad disturbing to me? Asking this little traumatized girl who’s seen lot of horrid injuries and gore to view MORE of it potentially, to heal your favorites? Even if she’d want to do it willingly (which she probably would out of gratitude) she’s, what, six?
(yes I know this is fiction and I might be taking this a bit too seriously, but I am also looking at this from the narration point of view, and her doing these magic fixes would also actually be bad for the story narration IMO, I’ll explain below)
She’s just a child, she probably can’t really grasp yet what she can and can’t handle, when it comes to her trauma, and what is and isn’t good for her.  Eri “magically fixing everything” is an absolute no from me, both for her own sake and from narration perspective.
Like I get it, anybody would be sad when their fave gets hurt, I am too, but Eri’s a traumatized child, and tbh having her magically fix everything at her current state would in my eyes go against the point the narrative is trying to make, about the need for change and doing things better from the previous generation. Her rewinding these “changes” in the story, as a traumatized kid, is basically holding up the status quo that is harmful. Using somebody’s remarkable power out of duty to do good while potentially ignoring the impact it can have on the individuals own well-being, which basically will hindrance their ability to do said good in the future.
I can let fixing Mirio’s quirk pass, because he wasn’t horrifically injured in a manner that could potentially trigger Eri’s traumas. It was still a tad risky in my eyes to make this kid do it, because even if she did train for it, what if things went horribly wrong and she made Mirio disappear? That would’ve just caused her unnecessary mental anguish. They basically got lucky there that Hori was kind enough to make it work.
I would not mind so much, if the person having this power wasn’t a traumatized kid basically, in a story that is about a flawed system and the harmful effects it has on the individuals living in it with the way it currently runs.
So personally, I don’t want to see Eri use her powers at this point in that manner. She’s still recovering herself and probably not mentally ready to handle these things. Once she’s in a mentally better place, older and more capable of understanding what is or isn’t good for her, then she can go ahead and rewind people’s lost limbs left and right and use her quirk as the next generation superhero healer. But not right now, not when she’s still just a kid with horrible trauma.
Plus, I feel her point in the story was less about her power, and more about her parallels with Tomura; she could’ve become like him if she hadn’t been saved, and in turn, Tenko could’ve been like her if he had been saved.
So, from narrative point of view, It feels likely (though I could be wrong of course) that Tomura will remain possessed for a while, and Izuku’s end goal (or one of them) is to save him from the possession, and perhaps they’ll work together to defeat AFO. This last part I’m not that sure about though, given we still don’t have all the puzzle pieces. There’s probably a lot more to be learned about AFO himself, that will have an impact on how the story goes. We’ll see.
So yeah. Sorry this is kind of long, but sometimes you need lot of text to properly convey your thoughts xD Plus I’m just kinda used to writing long pieces of text.

BN06 Fangs and Explosion
Prompt:
Dragon Bakugo becomes infatuated with the bastard son of king All for One.
Izuku was kept secret from the kingdom but the citizens knew there was a younger son (Shigaraki being the older prince) but they had never seen him. If anyone did they’d know the boy was born out of some cursed wedlock with his unnatural green hair.
What no one knew, except for the king, was that the young prince Izuku was mothered by a dragon. The evil king tricked her into falling in love with him believing she would pass on an ancient ability of legend to their offspring. (A prophecy said that his half drake son will possess such power) But the boy was born without the quirk of a dragon (no magic, no dragon form). He wasn’t even that impressive by human standards. Unfortunately it took 5 years to find that out and by then everyone already knew of Izuku’s existence, even if they hadn't seen him that much or known of his hair, so it was too late to have the boy disposed of. Enraged he killed Izuku’s mother(Izuku was unaware of this. She was locked in the castle dungeons and he never knew of her existence). Izuku lived his life neglected but still lived with the luxuries of a prince though was moved to a secluded estate at the edge of the kingdom near the forest. The only one to raise him was the kind hearted woman, Inko, who worked in the kitchen but was basically the unofficial head of the household.
Bakugo didn’t know it but a part of him could sense the dragon blood in Izuku. That’s what drew him to the boy.
When he was still a hatchlings he would sneak into the prince’s garden on the secluded estate. At first he just visited the small boy as a lizard. (Magic designs hatchlings making them look like cat sized lizards. Not uncommon creatures in this world) then when he got his quirk he could control his magic. After that he visited the boy in a human form. He look like a little wild thing running around barely clothed with tribal gear. Izuku didn’t mind the brash noisy yet oddly secretive boy. He just wanted a friend. Bakugo hid around the adults. Inko was the only one that saw glimpses of him and thought he might be a spirit of the forest. She hoped that he would take Izuku away from his fate. They would be far more kind to him then the king, very few knew of his tyrannical ways since he liked to keep a good image with the public.
From ages 5-12 they played together in secret. The only thing that stopped them was when Izuku was sent away to get a higher education so he’d be a suitable pawn to be used in a political marriage. He was sent far into the kingdom away from the border where Bakugo couldn’t follow.
Izuku was forced to dye his hair white to match that of his father. (An uncomfortable and gross presses that involve potions that burnt his scalp). He got educated, learning of politics and sword play but was treated poorly and often hurt and bullied. But he kept hold of the comforting memories of the imaginary friends he used to have. (It had to be right? Why else would there be a strange boy coming from the woods (did not know about Bakugo being a dragon))
It wasn’t until he moved to the castle at 18 years old that he accepted his role in life. He was to marry the younger princess of another kingdom and live his life as a lord of some estate as he followed his fathers orders. He would be caught in a loveless marriage and required to produce children to prolong the bloodline.
Over his teen years he’d come to accept that his dreams of going on adventures and seeing the world, becoming a hero of legend, was just that... a dream.
His life had nothing to look forward to but at least his childhood was happy. Even if it might have been the overactive imagination of a lonely boy.
News of the mirage spread far and wide since it would be the first step in the great kingdom acquiring another territory.
But no one anticipated the news spreading far enough to reach the ears of one particular dragon.
The notoriously bad tempered dragon of destruction, Katsuki Bakugo. He had grown into his magic and unique power of causing massive explosions. He was no longer a little lizard anymore but was now a matured dragon. It has been 6 years since he last saw the love of his life and he refused to let some weak ass human take what was his without a fight.
Even if Izuku didn’t remember, they made a promise to each other: the two would be the greatest warriors in the world! or heroes, whatever the nerd called them they were going to be the best.
He gathered some of his trusted clutch mates and under the cover of night they stormed the castle.
The castle panicked. Sure they had defensive against dragons but they were never prepared for a siege like this. Dragons had never been known to do that before. (Something Izuku knew for sure. He spent all of his free time studying the magnificent creatures. Something about them captivated him ever since he spotted the baby dragon when he was little. That, unlike Kacchan, was something he knew was real(Izuku never made the connection that the lizard was Kacchan))
They tore into the castle but never touched the town. Searching and prodding they looked for Izuku.
Bakugo caught the heartbreakingly familiar sent. He ripped open the castle roof like it was made of leaves and there he was.
His hair was white, his round face had grown into sharp handsome features but those eyes. Those eyes.  Those kind passionate eyes would never change. Even if they looked fearfully up at Bakugo with a sword in hand as he protected a cluster of maids.
It wasn’t dragon steel so the sword has no effect on Bakugo as he swiped it out of the human’s hands. With an annoying scream from the maids, Bakugo snatched Izuku carefully in his jaws. (Izuku gets knocked out somehow)
Bakugo knew Izuku’s fate to the arranged marriage, and he wasn’t stupid enough to think that the king was as gracious as all the humans seemed to believe so to make everything easier for his heart he decided to fake the prince’s death. With many witnesses he tossed the unconscious body of Izuku to Froppy the frog dragon who could safely store things in a stomach pouch.
Though to outsiders... their beloved youngest prince was eaten by a dragon.
Note: I assume AfO and Shigaraki have some kind of powerful magic of their own.
Bakugo, being the entitled little lizard that he was at the time, see’s Izuku’s eyes for the first time and thinks they shine brighter then even the purest emeralds and decides that he wants them. Of course his little dragon obsession turns into love as he spends more time with Izuku, and he was determined to be the greatest mate in the world and make Izuku’s grand dreams come true.
Of course... he may have forgotten to mention his feeling to Izuku. He simply assumed Izuku knew about them. How else would you explain the way Izuku’s magic hummed with affection whenever Bakugo was around?
Or something. yeah take what you want from that.
Izuku is thought to be ‘magicless’ because he didn’t posses the quirk of a dragon... but All for One didn’t consider the fact that maybe the ancient magic he was looking for wasn’t draconic in origin.
This is one of those fics that you could have fun with! so have at it! Feral child Bakugo is always a favorite of mine and I really hope to one day get to this prompt myself.
Rules for Use:
Feel free to expand or alter if this inspires you!

Spinaraki Week, Day 5: Free Day+
Post-canon, Shigaraki and Spinner fight--well, something like the good fight, anyway.  For @codenamesazanka, whose endgame wish for Shigaraki can usually be summarized as, “Escapes punishment to go be a vigilante with Spinner somewhere.”
A drabble series using all the week’s prompts I didn’t hit otherwise, and a few blanks, so let’s just call it Free Day.
———–      ———–      ———–      ———–
Shigaraki's grinning when he walks into the alley, an unmistakable sign that he's onto something.
"Got a new target?" Spinner climbs down long enough for Shigaraki to grab hold around his neck before scaling upwards again.
"Better.  I picked up the trail on our old friend Tsang."  Shigaraki's all lean muscle in a crisp black suit.
"That bastard finally slipped up?  Ha!" A light switches on in one of the cheap apartments above them.  Spinner crawls easily around a corner, changing directions.  "What's our angle?"
"He'll be in town for the Grand Prix next month."  Shigaraki chuckles darkly.  "Game on."
———–
Spinner stir-fries pork minchee over their ancient stove, adding soy sauce and molasses and listening as Shigaraki, perched on the edge of their ratty sofa, types industriously on his laptop, explaining their new lead.  The sound of New Oumun's nightlife drifts in through the window, a jangle of distant music and traffic wrapped in the hum of eight-hundred-thousand people living on an island thirty kilometers square.
Spinner slides the meal onto one big plate, snags two forks, and drops onto the floor between Shigaraki's knees, leaning back comfortably as Shigaraki steals a fork and leans over him to dig in.
———–
Spinner wakes to an empty bed and sighs, standing up and dragging himself over to the window.  Unsurprisingly, Shigaraki's sitting on the tin awning below; he doesn't look over as Spinner eases down beside him.  He stares out over the city, in the direction of the glittering casino towers but not really at them, expression blank and cool.
His bad hand trembles faintly, barely noticeable save that Spinner knows to look for it.
Shigaraki doesn't speak as Spinner closes his hands over Shigaraki's own, Shigaraki's deft, pale digits curled lightly between Spinner's claws.
He doesn't speak, but he leans closer.
———–
A tip for a successful vigilante career: people never bother hiding much from children.  Spinner allows himself to be climbed on by four local brats, even the one with the purple ooze quirk, as Shigaraki carries on a discussion in near unintelligibly rapid Cantonese.
"Do the trick!" the youngest one demands, holding up a box she retrieved from who-knows where, a heavy padlock hanging from the front.  Shigaraki rolls his eyes but obediently touches three fingers to the lock; a second later, a blue marble rests in his palm, the box lies open, and the kids are telling him everything.
———–
They get a check-in from Toga a week before the Prix.  She chatters happily away on video-call, firing periodic barbs over her shoulder at an annoyed-looking Skeptic.
"So you guys have a new thing going down?"
"Yeah.  That bastard from Hong Kong who tried that rice extortion racket last year."
"Hah!  He deserves you two.  Oh! Kurogiri says to say hello!"
"Does that detective know you've been visiting?" Shigaraki drawls.  He doesn't even tense, Spinner marvels, as Toga peals laughter at the suggestion.
"Duh, no.  I'll tell him you say hi too," she pronounces sagely, and Shigaraki doesn't argue.
———–
"Hey, Shigaraki!  It's almost time; what's taking you?"
"'S gotta look right."
"You're gonna be in and out in minutes; you--blue?"
"Getting bored of black all the time."
"....Why do I have a hard time believing that."
"Believe what you want. But I thought you liked blue, Spinner."
"What are you--why are you grinning like that?"
"Haha."
"...This is about my old vest, isn't it?"
"It's fine.  You even got Re-Destro on polka dots for a while."
"Look, you KNOW I had to--"
"Trendsetting for the whole army.  So fashionable."
"I swear, I'm gonna--mmg."
"..."
"...Shigaraki..."
"..Heh.  Save it for after."
———–
Shigaraki leaves the casino with a tail.  Several tails, actually, and at least one of them has some experience, because he doesn't just watch Shigaraki or the street around him; he looks up, up and around, at the skies, the roofs of buildings, parking garages, all the usual spots.
A fire-user, a man with a maw full of jagged teeth and big moon-pale fish eyes, and the experienced one, whose quirk they haven't been able to figure out.
Spinner tucks up tighter beside a wheezing air conditioner unit as they pass below him.
In the distance, high-powered car engines scream.
———–
Third guy had a blindness-inducing quirk.
Had.
Now he has Spinner's machete driven into his neck, no vital signs, and Shigaraki writhes on the ground, growling through his agonized groaning.  A fissure opens up in his neck as he claws at the cement, another across his temple and down the side of his face.
"No pulse on any of them!" Spinner says frantically, dropping down beside him.
"Haaah.  We're too good at this, Spinner."  Shigaraki grins horribly, wounds beginning to trickle blood. "S'okay.  We've still got Tsang."
"But I thought we were gonna--"
"Yeah.  You just gotta get me there."
———–
It's not as neat as they planned it, Tsang tossed into the path of a bunch of race cars still marbleized, then loosed with a snap.
Instead, they have to free him long enough for Shigaraki to off-load the blindness quirk and Spinner just bodily tosses him into the oncoming headlights.  Messier, all around, and there are probably already blurry new pictures of them getting around social media.
But by the time they shake most of New Oumun's “heroes” and bribe or blackmail the rest, Shigaraki's wounds have closed up, he's back on his feet, and they make it home clean.
———–
Spinner gets Shigaraki into the shower with only minimal bullying; afterward, the two of them settle back on the window awning.
Shigaraki tucks himself between Spinner's legs and leans back against his chest, arranging his broad arms around his own shoulders with an air of sated possessiveness.
They watch the downtown spotlights of the district swing across the clouds in comfortable silence.
"There's probably gonna be some people calling us villains again," Spinner says at last.
Shigaraki hums in disinterest, eyes half-closed.
"League of Villains’ leader has nothing to say, huh?"
"He's on vacation.  No comment."
Spinner chuckles and welcomes in the quiet.
———–      ———–      ———–      ———–
Points of Note:
-New Oumun is Macau 200 years in the future.  Here’s all the mental image you need.  The Grand Prix is a famous street racing event that, by this point in time, probably includes some pretty wild allowances for quirk use.
-Tsang is from a Hong Kong crime family; pretty much all of Macau’s imports--including all of its food--come shipped via Hong Kong.  My thought is that the two islands have, if not quite merged together, definitely grown in each others’ direction somewhat in the time since quirks Happened to the world.
-Shigaraki mostly burned out All for One (the quirk) in his final battle with Deku.  His 75% complete status combined with the damaged AFO quirk, over-used super-regeneration, and the strain of the last fight has left him a somewhat precarious existence, with his enhancements spiraling into breakdown if he disrupts his balance overmuch.  That said, he definitely did not burn out as much as Midoriya thinks he did, a fact Shigaraki is perfectly content to keep to himself, not least because returning to his role as supervillain is not entirely off the table if Midoriya and his classmates don’t follow through on promises to improve the state of their society.
--Mr. Compress is in the wind.  Shigaraki has his quirk, but by arrangement--he's laying low, but will want his quirk back eventually, once he's established his new identity.
-Toga has shacked up with a rogue faction of the MLA and is reconnecting to her quirk in a way that tells her it's okay, it's always been okay.  She's handling it with Skeptic and Geten; the three of them have developed a relationship that seems to consist almost entirely of bile and spite, but they close ranks terrifyingly well.
-Kurogiri is overseeing the treatment of the remaining Noumu.  He's in a somewhat delicate honor-bound arrangement overseen by Tsukauchi--he doesn't try to run away as long as Tsukauchi doesn't try to cage him--but he's keeping to his word so far, periodically in communication with Aizawa, though Shigaraki is pointedly incommunicado.  There are issues there that will need to be resolved eventually, but Shigaraki's in no hurry to do so.
-Trumpet becomes instrumental to the MLA ideology surviving and its sounder points being addressed--he does some prison time, but the Commission is completely unable to stop him from turning his trial into a media circus the likes of which the country hasn't seen in decades.  It helps him sleep better at night, anyway.
-All for One, Dabi, and Re-Destro are dead.             -AFO was killed in the Tartarus jailbreak--NOT by Shigaraki, but rather by a guard who realized what was about to happen and made the call, just before Decay got him, to pull the trigger on all the guns aimed at the Lord of Evil’s head.  This was unsatisfying for pretty much everyone.           -Dabi was, one way or another, lost to The Todoroki Plotline.           -Re-Destro almost certainly dies at some point during the "war", protecting his savior and liberator, and willing him to carry on towards tearing down all the systems that entrap people.

msa ch3 asks
Anonymous said: I love how msa Izuku comes across as an honest to god cryptid: can't see his face, absolutely the kind of person you'd find at a gas station at 3 am, doesn't want attention, most likely distant cousins with Mothman
msa au is just me fulfilling all of my ‘protagonist is a cryptid’ dreams by making msa izuku as cryptid as possible. favorite character archetype: cryptid
Anonymous said: so the msa au is my life right now thank u for that & I just read through the update twice so thank you for that x2 and I had to go back and look for Izuku and Kirishima's deal when it came up again and realized oh hey Kirishima agreed not to try and stop Izuku from leaving after 3 minutes and they didn't put a time limit on that i wonder if that'll come up again (& then my brain jumped to Izuku using that Forever. "we had a deal" every time it comes up. he cannot be stopped bc kiri promised)
got it in one!! izuku will abuse the wording of that deal forever if he can. good eye!
Anonymous said: relatability of msa izuku: trying, doesnt trust feds, inability to sleep, ready to jump out 4th story window at a moments notice, anti-attention-
that’s msa izuku living the cryptid life of his dreams
Anonymous said: So wait you don't have to answer this if it's a spoiler but the collarbone blood tattoo™ is what's making deku's existence confusing to electronics, maybe?
yep, you got it! normally izuku is able to keep his presence from overtly affecting the electronics around him but scripting really starts messing with them.
Anonymous said: quirkless msa deku anon and can i just say that deku looking eraserhead straight in the eye with lie detector policeman there and him saying "i don't have a quirk" and said policeman not detecting a lie is arguably the best thing i have thought of today.
tsukauchi:  tsukauchi: wh  tsukuachi: how did you even do all of [gestures at ch2 events] that without a quirk?  izuku: it’s a special talent of mine.
Anonymous said: I just read chapter 3 and oh my god oh my god oh my god. Your Izuku is who i aspire to be 24:7. Like everything he says makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. You did good. <3
haha we are all aspiring to izuku’s levels of impromptu sass. im glad you liked the new chapter!
Anonymous said: I'm probs rlly late cuz I Love in GMT+1 which means 9 HOURS of difference but I love your writing. Man, dude, being from beyond time and space, you always manage to create the perfect harmony between comedy and suspense that has you giggling while trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe. Just. OH BOI.
this ask is so funny and sweet at the same time. i love you
@arinrowan said: it's kind of ironic that msa!izuku is exactly the kind of person who would benefit from friendship with/interacting with canon izuku.
msa izuku would benefit from friendship in general but you’re right. he needs the kind of quiet but aggressive support that canon izuku gives
Anonymous said: Cuz I'm trying to see if I can figure this out, by "told me about Kamino Ward", does that mean that Izuku tipped kirishima that that was where bakugou was? How did he know tho, did baku's spirit go to him and tell him that? Did izuku actually play a part in the rescue???? So many questions
THE ANSWER TO ALL OF THESE... [spoiler alert] is actually ‘yes.’ more soon...
Anonymous said: when they start asking questions abt kamino ward at some point he just gets fed up and says "I JUST DID IT BECAUSE THE GODDAMN CAT WOULDNT LEAVE ME ALONE. I DONT EVEN LIKE BAKUGOU" and the heroes are like :0? what if, we brought bakugou here?
izuku doesn’t even acknowledge that the kamino ward incident happens it’s like theyre just talking to a brick wall
Anonymous said: Izuku has no control over his own sass anymore and it's glorious?? Says "that'll be 500 yen" and looks surprised at himslef, says "now it's 600 yen" and looks downright mortified, the sass is too much for his smol body, sassmaster izuku ftw
to quote @salvainterra, “i love the fact that izuku never stops even when he himself thinks he should stop.” izuku listens to every nonviolent intrusive thought that crosses his mind and it both incredible and unfortunate. izuku is no longer bound by human limits
Anonymous said: msa izuku is the living embodiment of the "fuck this shit im out" song
ABSOLUTELY
Anonymous said: tbh when msa chapter 3 said that izuku slept 12 hours at nighteye's office, i was guessing that he would just passive aggressively sleep as much as possible for as long as they had him. won't give them the satisfaction of watching him wander around in his holding cell. hes in the middle of the interrogation and he puts his head down and goes to sleep (btw love your work!)
haha no he was just so exhausted he passed out for 12 hours. he hasn’t had a good nights sleep in weeks, as soon as all [gestures at ch2] this was over he just crashed
Anonymous said: Wow the new chapter is great!! Stellar as always. I can't help but imagine what's going on from Izuku's point of view with the spirits. Am I the only one who thinks Aizawa's spirit was trying to apologize or something when Izuku talked about not being forced into anything?
there was definitely some spirit stuff happening... i will say that aizawa’s fox spirit is the one who asked/persuaded izuku to tell aizawa what was Up with his quirk
Anonymous said: tbh i want to see them question izuku with a lie-detector quirk or something. like he'll say something positively ridiculous and everyone's gonna go "wait wtf he's telling the truth??!!?!!?!?!?!?"
hoho... well... buddy im not gonna say anything...
Anonymous said: Hello! I found your works recently and have an insane amount of time in the past few days going through it all, cause is all beautiful. I want to scream at you about all of them but you only get so many words with this so I'll focus on msa rn and I read chapter 3 of msa last night and since then I've been switching laughing at Izuku's sass, crying cause Izuku has so much angst involved him and I just wanna hug him, and screaming cause whAT WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER?!! Just what. Thanks for ur works-A
THANKS, thats the kind of reaction i aim for when i write something. im super happy you liked it!! <3
Anonymous said: Technically his quirk is "Being alive" or "Having a functioning body" but saying that would probably end with the same blank stares. As a side note, in the manga (and canon in general) they mentioned quirks are activated by the 'quirk factor energy' or whatever... Do you think that might mean that people who are quirkless just don't naturally have enough quirk energy to activate their latent quirks? it would also make some sense from an evolutionary standpoint, the glowing baby is from the first
generation that had enough of the qfe to actually manifest their quirk and after that generation the lowering number of quirkless could be attributed to those that have a deficit in the production of said energy and they might actually have latent quirks. The pinky toe missing could be the final mutation that causes them to have enough energy for their quirks to work.. The only issue with the theory I see is OFA not awakening latent quirks with it's energy jumpstart...
i think that’s a pretty good theory! it lines up pretty well w/ the worldbuilding in msa. as for afo, :3c
Anonymous said: Hey uh.. I know this is probably 100% non canon in your AU but I was re-reading your MSA fic and I misread something that made me think that Izuku is actually dead and his body is actually being run by his guardian spirit who possessed his body/took his place when he died... *sweats* Its a really weird.. dark idea but I thought it was sorta cool and you might like it..? um.. I'll just let myself out now
god yeah that would be so dark and everything in msa would actually be even worse than it was before
Anonymous said: When deku explains nighteye's quirk i can only think of that's so raven.
theyre valid questions...
Anonymous said: I spent my break reading the asks sent to you RE: chapter 3 of msa and I cannot stop fucking laughing over "look eraserhead dead in the eyes and tell him you don't have a quirk" thank GOD I'm supposed to be happy and smiley to everyone
honestly, this is conceptually such a powerful moment that i can’t not put it in the fic now
Anonymous said: msa izuka finally get set free but kiri has started following him around. States its official hero business but really just wants to see what other "cool shit" izuka will do.
izuku pulls an Official Cryptid Move (tm) and disappears while walking thru a liminal space
Anonymous said: i love that when aizawa starts asking about deku's quirk he's like, 'screw this i'm answering in riddles now'. this is such a great fic!!
Anonymous said: “It’s a secret,” he says. “A secret that no one knows, that one will suffer, and one-half loathes. Who knows if it’s true or not? The only thing we can confidently say is that it’s one thing that should not be.” Okay, so this is probably one of my favourite little scenes from your fic, partially because it sounds so ominous and badass and makes pretty much no sense. I loved your update, I was so tense the entire time I was reading it, but also giggling hysterically because /Izuku/ just - Izukus
hmm i sure do wonder where izuku got that riddle from... and what it means...
this riddle is just izuku complaining about everything because as long as he’s in this situation, he might as well make it perfectly clear how unhappy he is about EVERYTHING. when else is he going to have an audience for him complaining about his various maladies
Anonymous said: I think that a part thats particularly true to izuku's character is when kirishima makes the observation "damn maybe it IS good we arrested him so he can sleep" & izuku goes into a miniature coma for 12 hours bc being arrested presented the perfect opportunity for him to finally be able to sleep
nfdfsljndslfnjdf YEAH, everyone please stop this child it’s for his own good
Anonymous said: Reading know what i've made by the marks on my hands is really terrifying when not in Izuku's pov because you now know how scary?? it is for some other characters and Izuku looks crazy-- but you know he's not because cheesus???? This kid???????? Honestly I love it so much, thanks for your amazing writing and I want you to know that I enjoy it a LOT.
that’s the goal... showing how weird and strange and bizarre izuku is from everyone else’s point of view... i loved the outside pov bc i got the chance to show how much of a cryptid izuku is, something that izuku himself isn’t even aware of and thus would not make it into his pov
Anonymous said: anon who ((still)) hasn't read bnha here. chapter 3 of msa is amazing. i cannot get over the sheer amount of sass found in such a smol boy. also kirishima is quickly becoming my favorite character because of how supportive and caring he is. kirishima/deku is apparently now something to add to my armada of ships. for that i thank you. also i cannot wait for deku to meet spirit!one for all. it will either be glorious or horrible.
haha im always happy to introduce someone to the wonders of kiri/deku!! its an extremely good friendship... and in my professional opinion everyone should get on it and make it the Hot New Thing. as for ofa, ;3c
Anonymous said: I just thought of this but during Aizawa's interrogation I could totally see his spirit just blatantly looking away from Izuku while Aizawa is asking about his benefactor.
HAHA YUP, i love izuku saying all kinds of stuff about spirits and no one can make any sense of it and meanwhile the spirits are trying to tell him to stop. but izuku cannot and will not be stopped from passive aggressively vaguing about them. he WILL get his complaints in if its the last thing he does
Anonymous said: “I just fixed your entire Quirk, you cabbage.” I'm sorry but this. This is beautiful. I'M GOING TO GO AROUND CALLING PEOPLE CABBAGE NOW
i was worried it was a bit of an overused classic internet insult but this is reassuring :p
Anonymous said: every word that comes out of MSA Izuku's mouth is a blessing
but not to our three heroes and their intrepid intern sidekick...
Anonymous said: Shit after the msa chapter i've got so many questions about Kamino. Did the rescue occur the same with minor variations? Is AfO still down? Did All Might fckin die? Has OfA been passed down yet? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS
im uncreative and unoriginal with canon events so we’ll see.... we’ll see.
Anonymous said: MSA CHAPTER 4! I just found it today and I'm already rereading it. I did not know how much I needed sassy dead inside izuku. I Love this fic so much! That cliff hanger was so good! I'm so exciting to see more of izuku's pov. I love kiri but like I can't get enough of this izuku and his thoughts and reactions to things. This is so well written. The pacing in chapter 2 was so good. It felt like a heist and then keeping the readers guessing with not knowing if he was gonna get away was so good!
thank you so much!! im really glad you enjoyed the story that much <3 <3 sassy izuku is a pleasure to write honestly, can’t wait to see him more in future chapters
Anonymous said: Ohhhhhh you should update msa! It's so unbelievably good! I love the interaction between kirishima and izuku! Like I'm so excited to learn more about kamino ward and how that's gonna affect izuku going free and keeping his identy safe
:3c
Anonymous said: In chalter 2 of the msa au, did Kirishima think anything about how Deku said "I swear to every spirit I know"?
he dismissed it as a kind of weird, niche turn of phrase. like oh, guess this guy believes in spirits and junk, but im more worried about literally every other weird thing he’s done today
Anonymous said: So does MSA!Izuku always mess with attempts to record his presence? I feel like this would be kind of a major problem when it comes to getting himself a school ID or the like. (He's going to school somewhere, so he must have a school ID stashed somewhere). You know, they could potentially use this to track his identity down. They can try contacting schools to see if any had issues with one student needing to have an excessive number of photo retakes.
nope, usually izuku can keep it under control! the blood sigil on his collarbone is what really let him passively affect the electronics.
Anonymous said: Ok so msa!Izuku says "he shouldn't" exists, and when I first read that I was really confused, do you mean he shouldn't exist in the way that he sees things he shouldn't, or that he literally should not exists and Inko has no freaking clue where he came from/he was not a planned child?
yes to the first proposal. other than that, spoilers...

Let's Talk: Even Then Food Don't Taste that Good. Drinks ain't Doin' What it Should
As I was saying, ED became my lover.
Before I get into that though, let's get into more background because Lanta knows when I'm dead and gone and some sleuth discovers my music or the thousands of projects that are half finished or have been shot down, the masses will want to know the story of the foo fighter obsessed Hanson fan who wrote a jazz album full of country songs.
Okay, I'm exaggerating to the nth degree but you can't blame me because I want to be the female Nick Drake and I'm nothing without my flair for the dramatíc.
I will say, if you are in treatment for ED or thinking you need help, I AM NOT CONDONING EATING DISORDERS. I am working through shit by word vomiting and explaining things as I saw them. As I felt them. Something it's taken me 15 years to do. So, either skip this post or read with this in mind: if you don't get a hold of your ED it will hunt you down and kill you. There are people that want you here. You are here for a reason. Love you.
Back to it. Childhood is full of milestones. Sunny days filled with bike rides, corner store stops, skinned knees and scraped hearts. I was a late bloomer to nearly everything, except the scraped heart. That thing has been scraped so many times that most days I'm positive it's a wilted brown apple core.
I never learned to ride a 2 wheel bike. To the point that when I got too big for normal training wheels the local Chrysalis centre gave me a custom bike with 2 adult size training wheels. Which was incredibly cool and gave me my first real taste of freedom, until it got me bullied harder.
I don't remember the first time someone said something nasty to me because of my CP. I do remember the things they did.
I love to swim. I went to the local outdoor pool when I was about seven years old. I put my glasses in an unlocked locker because I trusted that people were good and I didn't have a quarter. When I came back and went about re-dressing my glasses were nowhere to be found. As I fumbled home while my eyes stung with chlorine and strain I found them shattered in the gutter. I picked up their bent frames and wondered how they got there.
When I was 8, I really wanted to play with the other kids but since a cripple couldn't be a teammate they made me the ball. Remember tetherball? I do too. Because I was tied to the tether pole and spun around it all recess until the janitor came to get me down. Kids threw tiny playground rocks at me by the handful hoping they would get in my AFO's, which SUCKS. There were so many instances and that was only at school. Home was a different, darker hell thats still a few posts away.
The first time I denied myself food I just wasn't hungry. It was one of those moments where you're so down that the last thing on your mind is food. I knew I should eat, but I didn't. And you know what? I felt better. This body that I was stuck in that took all my control from me was listening to me. Here's how the conversation went:
Body: Feed me.
Me: No.
Body: But... not even a little??
Me: I said NO.
ED: Good, see how easy that was ?
What? Who was this other voice? Hello? Who's there?
ED: It's me, darling. You know me. Come, you have that choral piece to learn, English homework to finish and you should probably figure out how you're going to fake your way through that dance number in act 2.
Me: okay. Yeah. Yeah that sounds... oh god that dance number...
ED: I know, love. I've got you. We'll put on Phantom and get through this. You only need me.
Power is intoxicating. I felt empowered by the seduction of denial. I started losing weight and gaining the praise of my appearance obsessed mother, my moreso appearance obsessed grandmother, and my peers. I started to score bigger parts despite limitations.
I was high on it. It's difficult to stop something that makes you feel better than anything else ever has. The reason that I referenced Phantom above is because I know EXACTLY how Christine feels toward him. Romantic manipulation. I have what you want. If you do this for me, you can have it. I'm the only one who knows and accepts all of you.
Food hates you. It only makes you bloated and pimply and full and who wants that? Gross. You didn't eat that second mouthful. You replaced it with water. See how beautiful you are? I'm so proud of you.
It was like riding my own personal Milky Way. As long as I was holding ED's hand I would be okay. If I worked hard and kept listening and stayed in control of my pesky body, it would all come to fruition.
You know what I wish someone had done when I was that kid dropping blazing fires and screaming that I would change the world? I wish they had taken me into their lap and stroked my hair and told me they knew and understood how much I wanted to theatre. I wanted to theatre so badly it was the verb, the adjective and the noun. But sometimes life isn't fair. It isn't always dependent on how much or hard you love something. How hard you work or how many librettos you can cram into your brain. Unfortunately, I chose to love something that is based almost entirely on image, marketability and your ability to be a product. No matter how many miles I hobbled, how little food I ate (or later, how much I threw up), how much reconstructive surgery I got, or how much I honed the talent I DID possess, I still had my CP limp, shakes, tremors and everything else. And sure, is done a lot of community theatre, even gotten paid a bit, and gotten one or two leads, but that didn't mean I was ever going to make it to Broadway and I needed to stop making that my goal.
... Maybe they did. Maybe I couldn't hear because everything was so loud. But ED was always there. Always pushing. And sometimes he was harsh but mostly he was Hollywood romantic. He held me. He praised me and loved me and said all the things I needed to hear.
He cradled me as I threw 86 theatre school rejection letters in a drawer for motivation and went back to stretching. Or singing, or studying. I was a hamster on a wheel that was dead set.
It wasn't until I got rejected from my last option for theatre school that I went into shock and had to regroup. I sat in a ba in my living room floor for two days trying to figure out who I was without theatre or instruments. Was everyone right? Was I a worthless cripple? I didn't have an identity or an answer.
That was the first time o tried to kill myself.
The next morning I was alive and knew I had to find something. There was a band whom I still love to this day that toured around often. I cashed what I had aside for college and followed them around for a couple years. I soaked my wounds in vodka and dirty guitar while my head filled with perfect five part harmony.
Some of the band members had their own demons. Which prompted one of them to take me by the shoulders in the midst of my third vodka cran of the evening. He told me he loved me and that I needed help. Somehow his voice overpowered ED's and I went and got help.
Gradually Luc (so named in treatment and short for Lucifer) got quiet and went seemingly dormant. But even then, as I saw sunshine for the first time, I knew it wasn't over. It's never over. It's a second by second struggle at times. I have relapsed more times this year than any other and I'm not afraid to say I liked it. It was comfortable. As I get older, CP gets more and more control and it felt nice to take it back for a minute. Crack the whip and shout "Mine Damnit!"
But then I remember the look of pure desperation in the eyes of someone I hold so dear and I find it in me to kick Luc in the balls again. For now.

When heroes are human & what comes with growth
Trying to get some of my feelings down on this chapter so I want to take a moment to look a little deeper in the imagery used for this panel in particular.
Tumblr media
Its really such a chilling panel in its use of shadows and white space, wherein Toshinori is leaving Izuku as the shadows he leaves behind gradually creep up on him, not quite touching him yet but slowly drawing in on him.
These shadows he creates have taken someone else though.
Tumblr media
Clear parallels are being made throughout this arc about Nighteye and Izuku, most prominently felt when Toshinori uses the word fan:
admiring the same qualities about All Might
wrapped up in his ideals, wanting to be like him
breaking the barrier of admirer, aspiring to be worthy of his respect & confidence
having deep affection & concern for his well-being
and are shocked with the reality of who he is
Not in the way you find out someone you admire is just terrible but just that the person who you admire is flawed in a real way.
This is what I took most from this: All Might, the great and shining hero who left everyone in awe, is very much a flawed human who has hurt those closest to him with his choices and he understands he has but he can’t turn back because that would mean doing something worse, leaving people in fear and what his master gave him was put in the wrong hands.
All Might can’t let go because that’d mean he was wrong, the decision to make sure everyone feels safe and they have this security was not deserved. He can’t back off and let these ideals lose their meaning because that’d mean Toshinori the quirkless kid, who was given a chance by his hero, was a poor choice.
Tumblr media
He lives for the all while ignoring the one: himself and those who are close and care for him in a personal way. its the flip side of what is good and righteous, so selfless and in keeping with their ideals they won’t take a step back for themselves. Thats what Izuku is touching on right now, the ideals that seemed so dazzling he missed what it implicates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toshinori has pushed through personal pain and concern for his wellbeing for responsibilities and duties he feels for a whole. He has to keep the peace, he has to provide society with security, its whats held him together for so many years but he’s just a frail man and its scary and sad for Izuku to see this and not fully understand. He thought he knew All Might by now, he thought no matter what All Might had everything together.
Tumblr media
He even thought he knew All Might’s weaknesses except it runs deeper than physical problems.
Tumblr media
Toshinori disregards what he has accomplished and done for thoughts of what he can still do, what it is he has to keep doing. These are the shadows he casts over Nighteye, choosing societies security over his own.
Tumblr media
Its the truth you come to realize about people, they aren’t perfect, they make mistakes and sometimes what they do will not always agree with you in the end. Its what you get when you get older, the person in your life you accepted would always be right has cracks and those cracks can be scary because it means uncertainty and it means theres not going to be a clean cut answer to all problems, the grey areas start to show.
All Might wanted to continue being there for the public, putting up a facade, while Sir just wanted him to lead a fulfilling life without understanding Toshinori had given all that up for his career. He could no longer be an average man because everything he’s put himself through has been for the purpose of being that all encompassing hero.
Tumblr media
Toshinori knew this was coming. This was the time Izuku was growing past his more childish attitude and was asserting himself, acting every bit the developing teen he is. He’s coming into his own and that means facing something difficult he may not take well. (Sidenote: Toshinori has never given Izuku his real name before, getting that information from Gran Torino, always referring to himself as All Might as though maintaining that image for both their benefits)
Tumblr media
Toshinori asks Izuku himself if he’s ready, giving him the chance to go back and be the kid who doesn’t need to know about his demons, he wants to keep him as innocent for as long as he can. This is something he’s put someone in a similar situation through and he regrets it, he doesn’t want to put that pain, disappointment and the weight of who he is on another kid who looks up to him. He didn’t want to let someone else down with who Toshinori is, trying to spare him the shadows he never meant to cast over Nighteye.
But he can’t keep Izuku where he can manage his growth himself, Izuku is impatient and young. The stakes keep going up and more people surrounding him are getting caught in it. He wants results and he wants to be able to accomplish things instead of having more failures, leaving more people in pain thanks to his inexperience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku has grown so much from the shy, hesitant person he was before who’d give into discouragement and be content with what he has. Izuku is no longer that kid who used to burst with admiration, he’s growing up and part of that is removing the lens you wear when you look at adults/parental figures you admire. Whatever made them perfect in your eyes isn’t the same anymore, seeing them for who they are and knowing there’s something about them that doesn’t fit with what you thought before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You have to take the good and the bad with the progress made.
Izuku, for his part, is growing past relying on All Might’s words to carry him, he’s growing into his own and building the confidence and drive to make shit happen. That means holding his own when he’s told he’s not good enough when he would have felt uncertain before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And not shying away from conflict when there’s something insidious going on. All Might not telling him this information himself put Izuku’s absolute faith into doubt, he’s learning All Might may not have everything together.
Izuku’s made strides but it means opening up for something less certain. He isn’t disheartened anymore but that doesn’t mean he’ll be told what he does is right, its the first step to learning just how harsh this work really is and his naive beliefs could lead to a worse outcome.
Tumblr media
Reality is harsh and his dream is very open to harsher consequence. He has to overcome his naiveté, to adapt and think on his own, what is right and wrong for him and what has to be done. He’s learned he has to come into his own without relying on the image of All Might. But now he has to wonder: ‘whats under that image?’ Its scary to think All Might doesn’t know what he’s doing, your hero might not have a complete handle on life and what he does to himself is self-destructive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sir is still stuck on this himself. The shadows that have engulfed Sir Nighteye, the pain Toshinori puts himself through with his lack of self-preservation, are slowly touching on izuku. He starting to know thats who All Might really is, Toshinori the person who has put his image and ideals above himself.
Tumblr media
Toshinori says he’s sorry but its not just for the heavy information he’s shared or choosing Midoriya based on chance, its for everything he really is and everything he couldn’t live as. He’s sorry for not ‘truly’ being the man Izuku had looked up to. Toshinori is sorry for the weaknesses he possess and the people who've had to carry the burdens he’s put on them. For being the man who, even after losing half his organs, still pushes himself despite knowing he’ll never last and could die in a horrible way in a foreseeable future. He still knows he could die sadly but pushes through that, not wanting to face himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s sorry for putting Nighteye through his selfishness and letting Izuku know of it; he’s sorry for not ‘successfully’ embodying the ideals he set out for himself.
Its desolate and nerve-racking and it tears away at him, even if he understands whats best. He’ll never be content and rest on his laurels even after being the first OfA successor to land a considerable blow to AfO. He’ll still keep fighting a never ending battle and may never get the peace he deserves, all because he’ll be anxious if he’s not the one to carry it. Never quite accepting his limits.
Tumblr media
He can’t turn back, he has to keep going for himself, its his egotism. Its all he can do is to say he’s sorry and keep going forward because he knows what he’s doing will never reach an end. Thats been his flaw, he can’t stop himself from living this life because its the only one he’s accustomed to.
Tumblr media
Everything he’s done was in service to be relied on, it makes him feel lost when he’s the one protected. He has to throw himself into the next labor just to have a goal to shoot for in the greater good (getting Shigaraki out of being a villain). If not, it means facing all he’s denied himself to be that symbol.
All Might may have accomplished more than any hero has before and done everything he could for the world but Toshinori will never be content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s important to have these characters highlighted during this flashback. They’ve gone through what All Might has, they’ve witnessed what he has been through and they’ve had to shoulder through the sometimes troubling choices he’s pushed on himself.
During the sports fest, All Might couldn’t reprimand Izuku because Izuku was berating his own inadequacy for the situation, he sees far too much of himself in Izuku. Izuku had to learn he couldn’t keep breaking his own body to make sure help was given, he had to learn this himself through failure and troubling those around him, knowing he’s not the only one being affected by his reckless actions.
Tumblr media
Chiyo had done her best to nip that behaviour in the bud before it got to All Might levels of troubling, she doesn’t want to continue down the same path they’ve gone down before.
All Might may have been the symbol of peace in society but he’s still Toshinori the man who is frail and can only do so much before he’s worn himself thin but he keeps going regardless of protests. And they are the ones who’ve decided to watch over him since they can’t control what he does, guide and advice but still lack what can set him at ease, giving him the peace he needs.
They were there then and they’ll continue being there for him the best they can.
And thats the drawback of losing your mentor, they’ll always be the perfect hero in your eyes while never learning their shortcomings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toshinori will always aspire and never meet his ideals because he’ll believe Nana could have, she’s peerless in his eyes. He’ll never quite meet her faults in the same way Izuku and Sir have and perhaps he’ll never realize this about himself.
In the end, Izuku is left unsettled by all of this coming from his hero.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shadows All Might leaves behind have enveloped Sir Nighteye and are slowly finding their way to Izuku.

Damn Enji and Kotaro are literally the worst fathers
Hmm, the worst father is AFO.
Kotaro has some trauma that doesn't excuse him, but it explains some things.
Enji at some level at least was trying to reach something good? And he is right now in some arc of redemption.
But AFO is just– I still don't know how people look at what AFO did to Tomura and doesn't feel at least a little sympathy. It personally makes me physically sick to think about AFO sometimes. Let's review the reasons why AFO deserves the award for worst parental figure :
All his love was replaced with obsession. A need to control people at any minute, a need to know everything about them, to make them act like he wants to.
He was heavily obsessed with his younger brother. We all know how the first user ended. He's still obsessed over him.
AFO has a hunger for power and possessions... And in this one I mean PHYSICAL possessions even. This is the stuff horror stories are filled with.
We don't know if AFO knew about who Tenko was before or after he took him in from the streets. We don't know if he tracked the Shimuras, we don't know how exactly everything turned out so perfectly for him.
His took his obsession with his younger brother and the OFA users to Tenko. It was never about the kid, never about the human. Tenko has never been better than another body to be controlled like any nomu. The modificationa Tenko needed where not physical, no, but psychological.
Grooming, gaslightning, psychological abuse...
He made a five years old use the dead hands of his family all over his body and watched as the kid threw up from the extreme distress he was under.
He told a five years old he should never heal. I repeat, he took an already abused kid who had already many reasons to hurt and suffer that healing was bad and raging was the solution. He wanted Tenko to stay forever trapped in the bleeding.
He commanded the kid to go and kill people. "Tenko said he wanted to kill them" yes, kids say that type of stuff, they are kids that are supposed to be guided and taught. And AFO did it in the worst way possible.
He knew Tenko had no memories, he was like a blank canvas filled with hurt and rage– and guilt. What AFO did was making Tenko like him a little, people without remorse that would destroy the world for their twisted version of love.
Have you ever heard of those stories where people spend their whole lives locked in a basement because their abusive father make them do it so? Tomura was isolated from society. The only three figures in his life were a doctor who wanted to experiment with him, a half zombie who had strict orders and the demon who trapped him. No other kids to play with and learn how to act in society, for example. He had no friends, he couldn't go out that much, he got a pc and videogames and probably lessons but if we compare the room AFO gives Tenko in the beginning and Tomura's room in the bar, it's probably the same. All his life lived between four walls. Alone. Isolated. With the constant pain and rage and feeling you need to destroy.
If you think quarantine was hard, imagine this.
We also know Tomura was lacking self care when we first met him on the manga. I'm talking about some levels of hygiene and basic routines. We know Tomura is used to not sleeping in days, eating so little, and other things that shouldn't be normal at all, unless people are being negligent with you or you're living in a war or something.
Or– you're poor. This fucks me up each time because there's no way AFO is poor. And yet we've seen Tomura's situation.
Also imagine being around people who only tells you "do it for him, do this to please him, be like him, follow his lead, become him, listen to him". What type of brainwashing is that.
I still hold that Tomura's itching comes from emotional and psychological stress. And since AFO told him to never heal, you can imagine why his scars looked so bad and full of blood in the beginning of the manga.
Tomura didn't have a normal childhood or teenage years. He lost both to the trauma. What Tomura likes to do beside destroying? Playing video games, and because that was the only possible scape he had. Being on the internet lying about his identity and his life.
Note how we don't have a good memory of Tomura in those years. It's always AFO rescuing him. The last real good memory of Tomura was about Hana, his sister, and Nao, his mother, both being gentle to him.
He started really living with the League. " Why does he care about them ", even when he was a child, we have no records of Tenko having close friends. The closest thing was Hana, his sister, and Mon-chan, his dog. The League are the first real friends he ever had. Of course he doesn't know how to be a friend at first, he has never seen people around his age so close to him in at least 15 years.
And note how AFO doesn't care about them either. He sees everyone as toys to play with. He never tries to protect Tomura's friends.
AFO doesn't even see Tomura as a person, like I said before, because he saw Tomura as a body he could later posses to keep existing. A recipient, a vessel, whatever you want to call it. He only cares about Tomura's feeling because he need his hatred to take OFA.
We saw that when Deku started hurting himself from using too much his quirk, everyone worried. Deku was the only who worried about Tomura when the AFO quirk started destroying him.
AFO practically killed Tomura by relegating his consciousness to the bottom of his mind, taking over the body. Yeah sure, Kotaro tried to kill Tenko and Enji is responsible for Touya's dead, but nothing as brutal as this.
AFO gave his own last name to Tomura not as a parent-son link, but to mark that body as his.
He gave an identity to Tomura to mark him as he possession. He is so proud of that.
Besides, Tomura looks a lot like AFO's younger brother and Nana Shimura, two of the people AFO obsessed with, a lot. He also was compared before to All Might, when he was Tenko and share many similarities with Deku. Basically he sees in Tomura everything he wants to posses and destroy.
He used Tomura in almost every way.
He destroyed Tomura in almost every way.
And do it because he wanted to do it, not for some type of justice or self-righteousness or twisted parental feelings.
He enjoys destroying Tomura, he wanted to destroy Tomura, to break him.
No other character should be compared to AFO. Even Kotaro and Enji, that would be a grave mistake. At least Enji and Kotaro were humans, complex and abusive humans, but AFO is something straight out of a nightmare.
Yes, he's definitely the worst parental figure of bnha / mha.

BnHA Chapter 290: It’s Touya Time
Previously on BnHA: Iida and Hadou showed up like a couple of Pennsylvanias and Georgias to bail Shouto out at the last minute. Ochako and Toga had an exceptionally strange fight which consisted of Toga being all “guess what Ochako, I used your quirk to murder someone, how do you feel about that”, and Ochako being all “I do not like that”, to which Toga was all “:(”. There was some doll-stealing and some bookcase-yeeting, and then Toga left in tears because Ochako was all adamant that murder has consequences. Anyway so I have absolutely no idea what Toga is thinking now, but I guess we’ll have some time to stew on it, because we ended the chapter by cutting back to the Iida+Hadou+Shouto VS Afomura battle, which was interrupted by Gigantomachia and the LoV showing up like a bunch of Floridas to ruin everyone’s nice day.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi hands the mic over to Dabi and is all “take it away, kid.” Over in Room 315 of Musutafu General, Rei is all “may I please watch some TV” and the hospital staff is all “sure”, and so she tunes in just in time to catch Todoroki Touya’s Peabody Award-winning documentary “Number One Hero, Number One Fraud: The Todoroki Enji Story”, which is being broadcast nationwide courtesy of Skeptic and his magic laptop. Meanwhile in Jakku, Dabi is all “I’M TOUYA, BITCHES”, and Shouto and Enji are all, “(゜◇゜ )”, and Dabi is all, “anyway so just to sum it all up, because of how much of a jerk Endeavor was, I am now Evil.” Everyone continues to be all “(゚o゚)” except for Dabi, who is all “└(˘▾˘┌ )≡ ( ┐˘▾˘)┘≡┗( ˘▾˘)┛≡┏( ˘▾˘)┓≡┗( ˘▾˘)┛” for pretty much the rest of the chapter. Idk. Just let the man have his fun, guys. He’s waited a long time for this.
y’all I have a confession to make. I am technically not spoiled for this chapter thanks to my robustly paranoid system of spoiler-tag-filtering, which is extensive enough that it pretty much will catch whenever someone so much as breathes something even remotely new-chapter-related. that being said, I like to think that I am capable of making basic logical inferences! and so the fact that for the past 36 hours, my dashboard has pretty much nonstop consisted almost entirely of this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...has led me to conclude that MAYBE, POSSIBLY, PROBABLY, BUT ALSO DEFINITELY, a certain someone is finally going to reveal his ~secret identity~ woop woop. lmao
anyway so everyone, please remember to act surprised though, as we would not want Dabi’s feelings to be hurt at all. he has been planning this moment for the last decade or so and I wouldn’t want him to feel like all of that effort was for naught. so just play along, okay. OH MY, IF IT ISN’T THE LEAGUE OF VILLAINS’ MYSTERIOUS DABI. WHATEVER COULD HIS ARRIVAL POSSIBLY BE HERALDING, I JUST DON’T KNOW
“Dabi’s Dance” lmao. I’m sticking with Touya Time myself. ngl I had this recap title planned out for at least the past year or so. just waiting for that day to finally come
anyway so some people in some building somewhere are all “TURN OFF THE TV IN ROOM 315” and idk. I’m guessing the LoV is hacking the airwaves to livestream the reveal, as predicted
-- oh shit. UHHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
did she always have this TV or did she get it just recently?? jfc of all the times for the hospital staff to finally loosen up
Tumblr media
um... so that’s... (・_・;)
well but I mean, she was gonna find out one way or the other at some point though. like you can’t really just keep her locked up and isolated from all news of the outside world forever and ever and ever. granted, this isn’t exactly the ideal way for her to learn this particular bit of information, but it’s not really ideal for anybody else either! EXCEPT DABI, THAT IS. have yourself a day you funky little terrorist
oh shit what is this?? it’s not live???
Tumblr media
over in Jakku, a red-faced, sputtering Dabi makes a frantic grab for Skeptic’s laptop. “WAIT, NO, JESUS, NOT THAT TAPE!”
lol. but seriously Dabi are you even wearing a shirt. like I’m not one to slutshame anyone bro, but it’s just, exactly what type of mood were you looking to set here??
anyway so we really are cutting back to Jakku now, and Gigantomachia is all, “MASTERS”! which, I wonder if he really did use the plural? that’s right Machia, both of them in one place now! that sure is convenient for you huh
lol what is this with all this AFO monologuing. you’re really gonna make me read through this when I’m sitting here all sleep-deprived from election week. JUST GET TO THE TOUYAS. WE WERE PROMISED TOUYAS!!
sigh
Tumblr media
“tee hee it’s fucking hilarious how goddamn powerful I am now lol”
alas, in spite of myself I do have two serious takeaways from this. one is that AFO is still controlling most of Tomura’s body behind the scenes, which both does and doesn’t bode well for Tomura (like, at least he’s not dying, but the long-term implications of this for his free will and such certainly are not Good). and two is that this confirms that Ujiko did give Tomura at least one powerful mutant quirk, which explains why he was still so deadly and indestructible even when Aizawa was using Erasure on him (since Erasure doesn’t work on mutant quirks, just emitter and transformation ones)
MEANWHILE ON TODAY’S EPISODE OF “TODOROKI SHOUTO’S TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD LIFE”
Tumblr media
I like how he doesn’t actually say that he can’t take on Gigantomachia. just that he can’t take on him and Afomura at the same time. that’s confidence, baby. that right there is why you always draft Todoroki Shouto in the first round for your fantasy team
HADOU!!!!
Tumblr media
OOOH, TOMURA’S ALL “MAN, THIS GIRL’S WAVE POWERS AND THIS KID’S ICE POWERS ARE A SUPER-STRONG COMBO DAGNABBIT.” YESSS I LIKE THAT, TELL ME MORE ABOUT HOW COOL AND POWERFUL THEY ARE
HOT DAMN LOOK AT THAT
Tumblr media
um but not to take away from this exceptionally cool moment or anything, but why is Endeavor dying and shouting “RUN” down there in the corner um
oh
Tumblr media
excuse me. not to take away from How Bad This All Is, but!!
Tumblr media
just a little, smol, IidaBaku for everyone. Iida, who apparently doesn’t know a damn thing about first aid and is all, “hmm that’s a pretty bad-looking puncture wound he has in his left shoulder there, I think I’ll just let his arm dangle freely like that and I won’t bother taking off his heavy gauntlets either. I mean. he’ll be fine, probably.” smh. at least Shouto probably cauterized the wounds
EXCUSE ME WHAT
Tumblr media
TIME FOR MORE OF THAT GOOD OLD FASHIONED SHOUNEN RIDICULOUSNESS I GUESS LMAO. KACCHAN YOU HAVE A HOLE IN YOUR TORSO. THERE IS A HOLE IN YOUR TORSO, AND YOU LOST LIKE FOUR GALLONS OF BLOOD, BUT SURE. “PUT ME DOWN” HE SAYS. FIRST OF ALL, PUTTING ASIDE THE FACT THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE CONSCIOUS, THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN GOING TO DO, LIE DOWN AT THEM?? LISTEN, YOU SWEET IDIOT. TAKE HEED, BELOVED DUMBASS!!
ah well. I guess he gets to watch the Touya Show now too then lol
LMAOOOO now Machia’s lifting Tomura carefully in his palm like a broken action figure and Spinner is all “THE FUCK, YOU LOOK LIKE DEATH WARMED OVER”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“oh hey there Spinner. well let’s see, I woke up from my three-month coma and destroyed a city, had my body incinerated, and am currently being possessed by a diabolically evil potato. but please, tell me more about everything you've been through”
AW YISS AND THE FOCUS NOW SHIFTS TO THE TODOROKIS. EVERYTHING IS PROCEEDING EXACTLY AS WE HAVE FORESEEN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Endeavor my dude. it’s as if you want to die here. also holy shit, that bit about his lungs definitely does not bode well for him either
MOTHERFUCKER
Tumblr media
GO AHEAD AND SIGN YOUR OWN DEATH CERTIFICATE, WHY DON’T YOU!! FLAGS UPON FLAGS. JESUS CHRIST
meanwhile Dabi’s just waving at ‘em
Tumblr media
lmaoooo please oh please Caleb please keep this ‘EYYYYYYY’, it’s fucking perfect kdlshk;hg
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
(ETA: so as you will see very shortly, I completely missed this detail in my first read-through because I was so anxious to get to the reveal page, but THIS MOTHERFUCKER LITERALLY DOUSED HIMSELF WITH INSTANT HAIR DYE REMOVER THAT HE’S JUST BEEN CARRYING AROUND IN A LITTLE HIP POUCH APPRENTLY SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. MOTHERFUCKER. I HAVE NO WORDS.)
IS THIS THE TIME. IS THIS THE MOMENT?! HERE IT COMES SLKFHS BRACE YERSELVES LADS
EYYYYYYYYYYYY
Tumblr media
OKAY EVERYONE JUST LIKE WE PRACTICED!! SURPRISED FACES ON THREE! ONE... TWO... (•̪ o •̪) !! okay how was that
LMAO ENDEAVOR
Tumblr media
at least Shouto looks properly stunned. Enji just looks like endeavor.exe just straight up stopped working
meanwhile Deku’s out here trying to do the math on this latest surprise family reveal! first Tomura is related to Nana, and now this. what’s next. who are you related to, Spinner. he rips off his boots to reveal engine legs and declares himself Iida’s long-lost uncle
oh shit Touya
Tumblr media
it’s as if a million fanworks suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly jossed. who knew that all this time he was secretly sporting a crop top scar
also, THIRTY?! holy shit son you been busy
la la la two-page spread of Touya casually driving the dagger into Endeavor’s hero career and rocking the foundations of hero society as we know it la la la
Tumblr media
la la la!!!
OH IS THAT THE END OF THE STORY THEN
Tumblr media
almost got confused for a sec. there’s two monologues happening at once here. Endeavor doesn’t even know that his dirty laundry is being aired out nation-wide as we speak ffffff
btw while I appreciate the close-ups of Enji and Shouto here for sure, ngl I would also really love to see everyone else’s reactions right now. SHOW ME BAKUGOU AND THE LOV YOU COWARDS
is his hair actually turning white all of a sudden?? your hair dye just reacts on command??
(ETA: in all seriousness though, the hell kind of hair dye was he using? all he has to do is pour a bottle of that stuff and not even lather it in and it’s just gone just like that?? what the fuck would have have done if it ever rained lmao.
and this motherfucker just goes and leaves the dye remover in afterwards, too. I have never dyed my hair in my life and even I can tell you that’s probably not a good idea, Dabi.)
Tumblr media
is this it. is this the legendary Dabi Dance in action. lmfao
oh hey what the fuck
Tumblr media
so you figured you’d just murder your innocent younger brother to get revenge on dad, huh. well that’s nice
is that really all there is to the origin story though?? feels like we’re still missing a huge chunk of it. what was it that finally sent him over the edge? or was the trauma of being created as Endeavor’s perfect little hero tool and then being subsequently rejected by him enough on its own? because I’m still kind of confused on the part where he goes from “abused and discarded by his father” to “killed thirty people and was plotting the murder of his own brother” to tell you the truth
(ETA: lmao the initial fandom reaction to this did not disappoint. listen guys. people can be traumatized and shaped by awful circumstances that are completely out of their control, and grow up to be people they wouldn’t have grown up to be if things had been better, and all of that absolutely sucks, but. it doesn’t mean they get a get-out-of-jail-free card for all of their future actions, either! the tragedy of this situation is that terrible things happened to Touya, and he then went on to do terrible things himself. the tragedy of it is that this is exactly how the cycle of abuse keeps repeating itself on and on and on. maybe one of the people Dabi killed had a child who will now grow up traumatized themselves, and potentially go on to pay it forward themselves when they grow up. the tragedy is that the eye-for-an-eye justice that Touya is seeking out won’t actually make anything better in the end. the tragedy is that we understand why Touya is so angry, but that anger has basically warped him into the gleefully sadistic dancing figure we see in this chapter who has stopped caring about anyone else’s pain or suffering and just wants his own revenge.
anyway. basically what I’m trying to say is that it’s possible for the concepts of “Todoroki Touya was an innocent child and a victim of abuse” and “Dabi is a grown-ass motherfucking adult who killed thirty people and PROBABLY NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THAT” to coexist lol. like, y’all wanted your moral grey, well HERE YOU GO lmao, eat up.)
lol but LOOK AT THAT BOY DANCE HIS LITTLE HEART OUT though
Tumblr media
Todoroki Touya confirmed not a fan of the Endeavor redemption arc huh. well we all saw this coming lols
anyways here’s a sexy Touya for y’all
Tumblr media
you really are the most theatrical bitch I s2g lmao
also for real though, what is happening with his hair? anime team in shambles here. they’re probably just gonna double down and keep it red. too bad though cuz this is a surprisingly good look on him
SO MANY CLOSE-UPS OF THE TODOROKI FACES
Tumblr media
friendly reminder that Dabi without a doubt REHEARSED this speech like a thousand fucking times. LET US FALL TOGETHER!! COME DANCE WITH YOUR SON IN HELL. apparently if you fake your own death in middle school you will never mentally age past that point and will remain a permanent chuuni
OH LMAO THAT’S THE END
Tumblr media
we really just gonna end on “DANCE WITH YOUR SON IN HELL”, huh. very well then. you know what song to play, Horikoshi. one, two... YOU ARE MY DAD. YOU’RE MY DAD!! BOOGIE WOOGIE WOOGIE

BnHA Chapter 287: Family Reunion
Previously on BnHA: The Tomura For One VS Deku And Pals clusterfuck reached new levels of clustfuckery as AFO possessed Tomura’s body and stabbed Kacchan and Endeavor. Shouto was all “good thing I leveled up offscreen so as to be able to fly around whilst carrying 400lbs worth of people”, and did just that and it was like, damn, son. Meanwhile Deku’s rage went Mach 100, and he kicked Tomura’s ass for almost two whole seconds, but in the process he apparently forgot that IF TOMURA TOUCHES HIM THAT IS VERY BAD, and so he stupidly let Tomura touch him and Tomura was all “GAME, SET.” Fortunately for Deku, his quirk plays by its own rules, and so the chapter ended with us cutting to the METAPHYSICAL OFA/AFO PARANORMAL DREAMSCAPE OF MYSTICAL BULLSHIT, where AFO!Vestige was all “lol Tomura y u mad”, and Nana!Vestige was all “SUP DEKU, YOU’RE JUST IN TIME, LOOKS LIKE IT’S ASSKICKING O’CLOCK.” I’m paraphrasing a bit, but that’s more or less the gist of it.
Today on BnHA: AFO is all “well if it isn’t Tomura’s grandmother who I murdered that one time”, and Deku is all “?”, and AFO is all “fucking vestiges, man, wild”, and Deku is all “??”, and AFO is all “ANYWAYS GETTIM TOMURA”, and OFA is all “NOT SO FAST”, and Deku is all “???”, and really, same. AFO then goes off on some wild tangent about how Deku is unworthy because he couldn’t protect everyone and needed help from OFA and got mad about his friends being stabbed, which is such a cold take it gave me hypothermia, but it ends up not mattering since Deku and Tomura both wake up seconds later with OFA still in the possession of its rightful owner, HOW ABOUT THAT. The chapter ends with the LoV approaching on Gigantomachia’s back with Dabi practically salivating at the mouth, and Toga trying to reignite an old fandom blood feud. Toga why would you do this to me. Toga.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Tumblr media
[CROWD LOSING THEIR MINDS] FINALLY THE NANA HAS COME BACK TO BNHA!! IF YA SMELLLLL WHAT THE NANA IS COOKIN!!!!! [RINGSIDE BELL CHIMING WILDLY] [LOUD AIRHORN NOISES]
“chapter 287: mistake” omg. yeah I’ll say you made a mistake, AFO. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THESE FLEETING LAST MOMENTS OF YOUR SHITTY EVIL LIFE
(ETA: so in all seriousness this must be referring to AFO’s belief that All Might/OFA made a mistake in choosing Deku, right? “I can’t believe you went and chose this shounen manga protagonist as your champion, what were you thinking.” I’ll just put this out there: however many comic books AFO read as a child, it clearly was not enough.)
wow Deku how slow are you
Tumblr media
yes you’re inside OFA you dimbulb, did you think your clothes suddenly vanished out of the blue and the ghost of Nana just randomly appeared in the real world by some freak coincidence?? can you believe this kid. breaks his arms a measly 10-15 times in a row and all of a sudden he can’t think straight, get it together Deku
but also brb having a moment at the fact that his thoughts immediately run back to Kacchan, even with all of this nonsense going on and Nana about to lay the beatdown on AFO’s potato-lookin’ ass. forget that noise, all he wants to know is whether or not Kacchan is all right. fuckin’ geez. AM I OVERREACTING HERE A BIT. probably
(ETA: ALSO!! the way he just trails off!! “Kacchan is...” and then he can’t bring himself to complete the thought. oh my god my heart.)
HOLY SHIT
Tumblr media
okay,
damn but this man sure knows how to ruffle my feathers. as eminently detestable as ever!!
could it be any clearer here that AFO is not on Tomura’s side?? for a moment I thought he had actually grabbed him by the back of the head in order to get him to look. but nope, he’s just resting his pointing hand on top of his head instead while he’s all “HEY TOMURA LOL IT’S THE GHOST OF YOUR DEAD PATHETIC GRANDMA”
for those keeping track at home, this would be the first time that Deku has heard this information -- that Tomura is Nana’s grandson -- and possibly the first time Vestige!Nana has heard it as well. Nana died when Kotarou was still a child, so for all we know the Vestige!Nana didn’t even know she had a grandson, lol. TODAY ON “MAKESTE RANTS AT LENGTH ABOUT THINGS THAT WILL PROBABLY BE ADDRESSED WITHIN THE NEXT THREE PANELS”, anyway moving on
lmao for the record I fucking LOLed at this giant question mark immediately bubbling up over Deku’s head
Tumblr media
no idea what AFO is about to ramble on about now, haven’t read that far yet. but let the record show that Deku’s immediate reaction to hearing “BTW NANA IS YOUR ARCHNEMESIS’S GRANDMA LULZ” is everything I could have hoped for
(ETA: fandom nailed the shit out of this one with the confused Mr. Krabs meme lmao.)
okay so now AFO is monologuing at length about how he would sometimes have “riveting dreams” about the previous owners of all the quirks he stole. but once he gave the quirks away they stopped bothering him?? holy moly let me just take all the notes
okay so he’s saying that Vestiges are created whenever someone has their quirk stolen by AFO. but if they then disappear when he gives the quirks away, does that also mean that whoever receives the quirks also gets the original owner’s Vestige bundled in every time?? that would be wild okay hold up let me read the rest of this
Tumblr media
so he’s saying that the Vestiges are actually the “consciousnesses” of the original quirk owners, which have become embedded in their dna or something. SOUNDS INCREDIBLY DUBIOUS TO ME LOL but on the other hand this is a world where children can be born with airplane heads, so my disbelief can hardly afford to pick and choose what it’s gonna be suspended at! anyways though, how does he know he’s the only one who was able to converse with them? did you conduct detailed six-month follow-up interviews with everyone you gave quirks to or what
and if it really is the case that this ability was formerly exclusive to him, isn’t that more evidence than ever that OFA and AFO are actually THE EXACT SAME QUIRK oh whoops am I getting ahead of myself again, sorry
MEANWHILE TOMURA IS ALL, “GRANDMA?”
Tumblr media
“WHY AM I HERE, WELL LET ME TELL YOU A STORY, GRANDSON. YOU SEE THAT MAN GROWING OUT OF YOUR RIBCAGE THERE? WELL IT’S JUST THE FUNNIEST THING, ACTUALLY”
WAIT SO IS HE SAYING THEY’RE SOULS OR NOT??
Tumblr media
this makes it sound like they won’t ever get to rest, which sure sounds like a soul thing to me. well whatever, soul, consciousness, I guess it’s just semantics at the end of the day
anyways though, so this asshole is finally done talking (I’m sure that won’t last), so now we can finally have the heartwarming reunion we’ve all been waiting for
Tumblr media
sigh
-- actually, no, not “sigh”!! you know what!! because Tomura says “whatever the reason”, but that’s only because he doesn’t actually have a fucking clue about the reason. like, I don’t know if the knowledge that AFO killed Nana would be enough to give him pause, but if he knew the whole story and knew that AFO was behind not only Nana’s death, but the rest of his family’s deaths as well... now that would be a whole different thing
anyway. but at least it’s becoming clearer now why AFO spent all that time raising Tomura up as his heir and brainwashing him even though he seems to have been planning this body takeover the whole time. it’s all because he loves making people miserable! yaaaaay
btw HAS NANA HAD THE EXACT SAME MOLE ON HER CHIN AS TOMURA THIS ENTIRE TIME WTF. am I just the least observant person who ever lived lmao
lol wtf
Tumblr media
ground: [randomly starts exploding]
Deku: “ONE FOR ALL IS BEING ERODED!!!” LOL IS THAT WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE, OKAY THEN. I’ll take your word for it
y’all I cannot fucking get over this “AFO growing out of Tomura’s hip socket like a fucked-up ventriloquist dummy” shit though
Tumblr media
you do realize that absolutely no one can take you seriously right now, right?? it’s important to me that you know this
WHAT’S THIS NOW
Tumblr media
seems like SOMEONE has had it up to here with a certain SOMEONE ELSE’S bullshit lmaooo bye Felicia
Tumblr media
I SAID GOOD DAY!!
you guys why is he not dying!!
Tumblr media
-- OH DAMN
Tumblr media
love how Deku is just lying there like “YOU KNOW THOSE DAYS WHERE YOU’RE LIKE, THIS MIGHT AS WELL HAPPEN.” poor Deku
(ETA: where in god’s name is OFA Prime standing. why are my thoughts fully consumed by this lmao.)
are Nana and OFA Prime even doing anything?? why are they sticking their arms out like that. wait hold up is this all a big metaphor for the back-and-forth going on between Tomura trying to steal OFA and OFA being all “actually no you can’t, please enter your password and click on all the boxes with bicycles in them to prove you’re a human first”?
OH SNAP OFA PRIME SAID NO THANKS
Tumblr media
“SORRY BRO WE’VE ALREADY MADE OURSELVES AT HOME HERE”
I have only just noticed that metaphysical!Deku has the same scars as actual!Deku. and yet his arms are not currently broken! that doesn’t really seem consistent to me but whatever!! maybe he saved right before the boss battle, that would be smart of him
anyway, that’s great and all that OFA Prime is here helping out, but I really wanted to see Nana fight AFO in a one on one though so I’m a bit disappointed. also why is it only the two of them?? where are Banjou and the others. of all the times to be sleeping on the job
FOR FUCK’S SAKE, THIS MAN
Tumblr media
WOULD YOU STOP. WOULD YOU JUST QUIT IT ALREADY
oh shit hold up
Tumblr media
doesn’t this confirm that the reason he wanted to transfer his power to Tomura is because he believed it would make him strong enough to finally take OFA because of Quirk Singularity? jesus christ. and here he was so sure of himself. but it turns out he doesn’t actually know shit! you can’t just fucking take OFA like that ya dingdong that’s not how it works
(ETA: SO, A THOUGHT -- is there any sort of subtle hinting here in the way that he words this? “if your strength is combined with mine”, as opposed to “if my strength is combined with yours”? no idea if the admittedly-so-small-as-to-be-almost-inconsequential distinction between those two sentences exists in the original Japanese or not, but I find it very interesting that the English wording implies that he’s the one adding Tomura’s strength to his own, rather than vice versa.)
now he’s insulting Deku!!
Tumblr media
excuse me sir WHO ASKED YOU anyway. and never mind that being consumed by an, AND I QUOTE, “unquenchable” rage is your protege’s whole THING, and that he also needed your help to avoid being burned to a crisp a short while ago. where do you get off I swear
(ETA: also just want to point out that in the panel before this one he says that he’s been “watching through Tomura”, which pretty much confirms that his consciousness or whatever is alive inside of him all the time. Tomura is definitely not getting rid of this guy any time soon.)
WOW
Tumblr media
first he calls Kacchan useless, then he calls Deku a simpleton, and don’t even get me started with Nana. just, you guys. this man is just... a very, very rude man
NOW OFA IS ALL “THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT MAKES HIM SUCH A GOOD PROTAGNIST YOU BUTTMUNCH” AND OMG PREACH
Tumblr media
“DESPITE HIS COMMON SENSE” sdfkllk my man he already has one brother roasting him, take it easy guy
AHH WHAT
Tumblr media
IS THIS BACK IN THE REAL WORLD
YEP
Tumblr media
hahaha nice try Tomura
so Deku’s all “I didn’t lose my power! BUT” and I assume the “but” is the part where his arms are still broken and shit, and meanwhile Tomura’s body is almost healed up now finally
they’re both wiped out and now AFO is again petitioning Tomura to let him take over goddammit
Tumblr media
“you won’t lose your mind” yep, he sure won’t! scout’s honor!! pinky swear!!
meanwhile Deku is getting fucking desperate flkjl;k my baby. and Machia is going to show up any second now too, probably. what else can fucking go wrong at this point
oh shit I shouldn’t have asked
Tumblr media
get ready to rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruuuumble, probably
OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
WELL AT LEAST SOMEONE HERE IS HAVING A GOOD TIME. jesus
so as soon as he heard Endeavor was there he got all, “TIME FOR THE BIG REVEAL”, is that right? WELL JOKE’S ON YOU TOUYA, YOUR DAD DOESN’T SEEM ALL THAT CONSCIOUS AT THE MOMENT, SO THAT’S GOING TO DRAIN A LOT OF THE TENSION FROM THE SCENE WHEN YOU GO ALL REVERSE DARTH VADER ON HIM AND HE’S ALL “ZZZZZZZZ”
meanwhile Toga is having unsettlingly quiet angst
Tumblr media
jesus christ Toga this is all we need right now
Tumblr media
“WAS JIN-KUN NOT A PERSON” sdkfjlk Horikoshi I swear. please have mercy on this fandom. this is the debate that refuses to die!!
but seriously ffs, the issue isn’t that Jin deserved to die, it’s that the countless people whom Jin would have either directly or indirectly killed didn’t deserve to die either. people don’t only become people when you attach names and faces to them! we all loved Jin because we’d gotten to know him, but that doesn’t mean his life was inherently worth more than the lives of all the people he would have killed. sometimes there’s just no good answer
like, it’s just crazy to me that because the heroes are all “we want to protect everyone!” but then aren’t always able to do so because that’s literally impossible, whereas the villains are all “we don’t care about anyone other than the select few people that we actually like!”, the villains somehow wind up getting the better PR. it just so happens that it’s infinitely easier to be loyal to the interests of a few people as opposed to ALL THE PEOPLE. like, no shit, it’s easier to stick to your moral code when you barely have a moral code. and so the villains can kill thousands and no one bats an eye, but if a hero fails to save even one person they’re hypocritical moral failures. like what the hell
BUT ANYWAY, sorry to go off on a tangent there lol, it’s not really a big deal. I’m just preemptively trying to stave off more discourse about it lol but who am I even kidding
anyways lol, but of course they won’t kill you unless they have no choice, Toga. but when it comes to catch-22 situations, it’s a bit much to infer that the heroes don’t consider the villains people just because they opt for the choice that spares more innocent lives. I sure as hell don’t want my babies out here killing people, but to say that they can’t no matter what or else they’re no different from the villains is just...
anyway so the chapter has now just ENDED, just like that!! on a shot of Ochako’s face!
Tumblr media
I SENSE ANOTHER THROWDOWN COMING. and it had better not be a total letdown like the last one! NANA BARELY DID ANYTHING HORIKOSHI, WHAT THE FUCK. I started out with such high hopes lol
but I will settle for Toga VS Ochako, and Deku VS Tomura: The Sequel: Shouto’s Revenge! SPEAKING OF HEROES WHO HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT MURDERING PEOPLE lmao
