''The world's most poisonous garden''
'' The garden in Alnwick, England, is home to the most poisonous known plants on the planet: some are exotic species, but most are unsuspected plants that grow quietly in the lawn of the house and which have been used since ancient times to make poisonous potions. The sign at the entrance is unequivocal: "These plants can kill".
The Alnwick Poison Garden is however an attraction. The castle to which it is attached served as the setting for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the early Harry Potter films. Created by Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland, in addition to rose gardens and rows of cherry trees, it brings together in one place the most toxic plants in the world. Visiting it is not dangerous: by respecting the rules of common sense, you risk nothing, but above all you learn a lot!''

Ink and Fictober 2023 Day #5: "You're the smartest person I know."
Inktober Prompt #5: Map
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Fandom: Harry Potter/Wizarding World
Character/s: Albus Severus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Lily Luna Potter, Gibbon Tadpol (OC)
Additional Tags: Wizarding World, OC Wizard, The Wizard is like the IT Guy, Based on another DISAPPARATED TUMBLR POST :')
Summary: Apparently, young Wizards and Witches these days have no respect for their property. This is where Gibbon Tadpol, a 'Wandie' (although he prefers ‘Paraprofessional of Wandlore and Wandcraft') comes in. He deals with all the students' broken broomsticks, faulty Rememberalls and abused wands and he is sick of it. And then one day three students turn up in a panic because their special map isn't working.
Quick Note: I have not picked up one of the original books for about six years and watched one of the films in about eight. This fic was written completely from memory and various Harry Potter Wiki pages. Please let me know if I've gotten something wrong! :D Also, this was based on a Tumblr post too. I don't know where it is and if anyone happens to find it, I will be forever grateful.
___
It was difficult being the Wandie at Hogwarts.
And not just because of the ludicrous nickname they gave his profession. Gibbon Tadpol was the ‘Paraprofessional of Wandlore and Wandcraft’ at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry thank you very much, and it was a title he held with the utmost regard.
He didn’t care if the students and professors often likened him to the Matron, or Groundskeeper or Librarian. He had far more qualifications than any of them (except perhaps Madame Pomfrey) and could just as easily have been a Wandkeeper at Ollivanders or a Head of Department for Magical Items, but no.
He was stuck here. Dealing with children’s mistreated wands and abused Broomsticks.
And all because it had been advised that Hogwarts invested in an ‘expert on magical item maintenance’ after one too many parents complained that their child’s wand or broom had stopped working correctly. Apparently, they’d agreed that Hogwarts needed someone on-site to fix their issues right away. Enter Tadpol.
“My Thunderbolt XII won’t lift off the ground!”
Tadpol sighed as the student, a Third Year, slammed her broomstick on his desk with a huff. His little figures of the Chuddley Cannons Quidditch team (which usually waved their brooms around and wobbled their oversized heads when he spoke), rattled on their bases and glared at her.
Children these days, thought Tadpol, had absolutely no regard for their property and expected all magical things, especially broomsticks, to work to perfection all the time. It wasn’t the same as in Tadpol’s day, when kids had Nimbus 2001s or first-model Firebolts and knew how to look after them.
He didn’t even need to examine this one closely to figure out what was wrong. There was a clear fracture running right through the centre of the handle, and Tadpol had a sneaking suspicion that the student had broken it and then tried to repair it with a clumsy spell. It might have worked, had this been an old model like the Cleansweep, but brooms nowadays were just far too complicated for a single Reparo spell.
And especially not one done by an insufferable, inexperienced Third Year.
“I’m afraid I’ll have to take it apart and rearrange the internal damage,” he told the student tiredly. “Perhaps even order a new core.”
The student stared at him. “Can’t - can’t you just fix it?”
Tadpol glared at her. “That’s what I am going to do, yes,” he said with carefully practised patience, “But it may take some time. I do have a line-up already.” He gestured towards an umbrella stand by this desk, which was filled with broken, battered brooms. A couple had magical chains wrapped around their handles to prevent them from flying around the room.
“Well,” said the student bossily, “I need mine today for Quidditch practice. I’m the Ravenclaw Keeper, you know.”
“I understand that,” said Tadpol slowly, “But I cannot give you special treatment because you happen to be on the Quidditch team. Even if I were to begin repairing it now, it could take a long while before the broom trusts you again.” That was another mistake, he silently added to himself. Semi-sentient brooms. They were absolute buggers when you tried to repair them. The student went red. “W-Well,” she stammered shrilly, “I need it fixed today!”
Tadpol closed his eyes. He counted to three. Then he opened them and gave the student a well-versed smile.
“I’ll see what I can do,” he said with a false brightness. “I will send a note to your Dormitory when it’s ready.”
She huffed again. “Good.” She turned on her heel and stalked out, leaving Tadpol with a battered Thunderbolt XII and a steadily growing headache. As he picked it up and discarded it in the bin with the others, Tadpol realised that he’d forgotten to record the student’s name.
“Accio,” he said tiredly and a coffee mug drifted into his waiting hand. It turned out to be empty.
˖·˳☾༺✶༻☽˳·˖
That was pretty much how Tadpol’s days went.
Can you repair this for me, please?
“Have you tried using Reparo?”
My Rememberall’s been red for days, I think it’s broken…
“Your tie is undone every time I see you.”
I’m afraid our Probity Probe is having a few issues, Mr Tadpol.
“Have you tried updating the Probity Charms, Professor?”
My broom’s going so slow, I think someone’s tampered with it!
“You’ve tried to cast an Acceleration Charm seventeen times when it wasn’t even in flight! You’ve clogged up it’s memory!”
And to make it worse, he was perhaps the most underappreciated staff member in the school. Oh sure, all the Professors liked him, but that was because he could fix all the new-fangled gadgets that the Ministry had decided had to be mandatory now in Witchcraft education.
He knew most of them could figure it out on their own - they were Professors after all - but it was just easier to send the items to him. And they could get rid of their worst students for half an hour while they waited for him to repair it.
And don’t even get him started on the students.
Tadpol yelped as the Sneakoscope he was currently working on spurted green sparks, almost singeing his fingers. The figurines on his desk grinned with silent amusement.
A paper crane swooped in through his open door and he only just managed to catch it before it plummeted into his little boiler-shaped fireplace. It unfolded in his hands and he suppressed a groan as he read it.
Apparently, the Defence Against the Dark Arts class was having some trouble with its Foe-Glass. Tadpol crumbled the paper, threw it into the fireplace and swept out of his office.
He’d told the Professor that she’d need to wipe the dust off of them only yesterday.
˖·˳☾༺✶༻☽˳·˖
Tadpol’s door slammed open with a bang. He jumped then cursed (not literally) as the Pheonix feathers he’d been trying to delicately insert back into a student’s broken wand blew out of his hands with the sudden gust.
He snapped.
“I’ve had quite enough of this!” Tadpol roared, slamming his hands on his desk in a fury. “If it’s cracked, use Reparo, if it’s out of focus, give it a dust and if it’s that cursed Remberball, Finwick, then that tie had better be done up properly-”
He stopped. Standing in the doorway, their eyes wide, were the last three students he had expected. Albus and Lily Potter and Scorpious Malfoy were staring at him as if he’d grown three heads and turned into a Threshal. Clasped in Albus’ hands was a crumpled old piece of parchment, which looked far too old and stained to be his Charms homework.
Slowly, Tadpol sank back into his chair. He cleared his throat.
“Ah, my apologies,” he began awkwardly. “I’m afraid you may have caught me at a bad time.” He suddenly remembered the Pheonix feathers, which were now scattered on the floor by his feet. He beckoned the students to come in as he hastily accioed the offending feathers into his hand.
“W-We have a problem, Professor Tadpol,” Lily began, shifting her feet nervously.
Tadpol relaxed marginally. He quite liked the Potters and the Malfoy boy, although that didn’t really have anything to do with the whole ‘saving the Wizarding World’ bit. Ever since he’d been instated as the ‘Wandie’, the Potter children had always called him Professor. And, well, he wasn’t going to be the one to correct them.
“What can I help you with?”
Without a word, Albus placed the parchment on his desk and gingerly rolled it out to its full length. It was blank. Tadpol stared at them for a moment, more than a little confused, until his brain kicked back into gear. Large, old parchment that seemed blank. Three guilty-looking students. In his office for Magical Items Maintenance.
He shot to his feet with a cry. “You - is this -?”
“We mayyyy be in a bit of trouble,” Albus admitted, scratching the back of his neck.
“Um, understatement of the century, much?” Scorpius fired back, looking slightly panicked.
“How - how did you even get this?” Tadpol demanded, examining the map desperately for damage. Because that’s what this blank parchment was. A map. A very, very, very important map.
“We just wanted a look!” Lily cried. “And it was made by our grandfather and given to the school by our father, so we should be entitled to a peek! But, uh…”
“It’s not working,” explained Albus anxiously. “The magical words you’re supposed to say to make everything appear. They aren’t working. The map’s just… blank.”
“We tried everything!” Scorpius added. “Charms, Enchantments, saying the words this way and that way, with a falsetto and a baritone-”
Tadpol stopped listening. He was too busy taking in this chance. HIS chance. A chance to do something more than sit in an office working with stupid students and condescending Professors all day. If there was something wrong, seriously wrong, with the Maurader’s Map and he was the one to fix it, well, he could be up for a promotion! A commendation! Maybe the Headmaster would say something like ‘Wow Gibbon Tadpol, you are the smartest person I know!’ and let him move out of this tiny little space into an actual office, with room for all his figurines and moving posters and-
“-So we tried, over and over again, ‘I solemnly swear I’m up to no good!’ and it just won’t WORK-”
Tadpol stopped. The parchment drooped in his hands and his heart slowed down a bit as he processed what Scorpius had just said. No. Surely not. Surely, he’d heard the boy wrong.
He had to check. “What did you say?”
Scorpius looked taken aback. “I-I said, ‘it just won’t work-’”
“No, before that. What words were you using to activate the map?”
“Uh… I solemnly swear I’m up to no good?”
Tadpol’s excitement tapered off and he felt his spirits sink. That chance slipped out of his reach like water through his fingers. And he thought he’d gotten a break.
“Young Malfoy,” he said, returning to his well-practised, patient, Wandie manner. “The incarnation is not ‘I’m’. It’s ‘I am’.”
The students’ mouths fell open.

LONDON -- Michael Gambon, the Irish actor who played Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films, has died at 82.
"We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon," a statement from his family said. "Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love."
Born in Dublin on Oct. 19, 1940, Gambon made both his film and stage debuts in 1962 and 1965 productions, respectively, of William Shakespeare's "Othello." He was among the first ensemble of actors to join the Royal National Theatre in London, alongside the likes of Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith and Michael Redgrave, to name a few. In 1998, he received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth.
Tumblr media
He would go on to star in films like 2001's "Gosford Park" and 2010's "The King's Speech," both of which earned him Screen Actors Guild Awards for best cast in a motion picture.
Gambon took over the role of Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, beginning with the third "Harry Potter" film following the death of Richard Harris in 2002. Harris played Dumbledore for the first two films and Gambon played him for the remaining six in the series.
On the small screen, Gambon won four British Academy Television Awards for best actor. He won for "The Singing Detective" in 1987, "Wives and Daughters" in 2000, "Longitude" in 2001 and "Perfect Strangers" in 2002. He also earned two Primetime Emmy Awards for "Path to War" in 2002 and for "Emma" in 2010.
Tumblr media
Gambon was a much-lauded stage actor and received three Olivier Awards, often considered the British equivalent of the Tony Awards, during his career out of 13 nominations. He won trophies for "A Chorus of Disapproval" in 1985, "A View from the Bridge" in 1987 and for "Man of the Moment" in 1990.
He would go on to make his Broadway debut in 1997 in "Skylight," for which he earned a Tony nomination.
Gambon's "Harry Potter" co-star Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the film series, took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor.
"So sad to hear about Michael," Grint wrote in an Instagram post. "He brought so much warmth and mischief to every day on set. He captivated me as a kid and became a personal role model of mine for finding the fun and eccentricities in life. Sending all my love to his family, Rupert."
Gambon is survived by his longtime wife Anne and their son Fergus.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Tumblr media
Next to The Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a step down for the series. That’s not to say it’s bad. The characters are deeper and the plot shows another level of maturity. The special effects are terrific and the performances are the best so far. It even does a solid job translating J.K. Rowling’s mammoth tome to the screen, though there's so much story to tell it can feel a bit rushed - even at 157 minutes.
During his fourth year at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is enlisted against his will into the Triwizard Tournament, a competition in which the best students of three prominent schools test their wits and skills in dangerous challenges. In way over his head against three older students, Harry turns to his best friends, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) for help. Meanwhile, school headmaster Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) and Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moody (Brendan Gleeson) wonder who put Harry’s name into the Goblet of Fire… and why.
Fans of the book will notice several changes between it and this film. Actions done by certain characters are given to others, scenes are omitted for the benefit of the running time and the plot is condensed & simplified. At the beginning of the picture, it can feel as if we are blitzing from one important plot point to another. On the upside, these decisions make the most of the medium of film. Much more screen time is given to Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom, the mediocre, often bumbling Griffindor student who gets the opportunity to show himself as a real person and not simply a comedic aside. Another character who stands out is Ron Weasley who, for much of the film, is a bit of an insufferable git… which makes perfect sense considering the age of the characters. They’re turning 14 and if romances were being hinted at in the third picture, they’re front-and-center here. There’s jealousy, crushes, disappointments and many misunderstandings of the heart that make Hogwarts feel like a real place and not just somewhere for a plot to happen.
The action scenes are another of the film's strengths. Harry's first Triwizard challenge is a full-on adrenaline-pumping showstopper that makes you realize – if the Klu Klux Klan-like followers of evil Wizard Voldemort didn’t already – how real the danger is. While there may be magic and whimsy in every classroom, it's clear the walls of Hogwarts are not immune to serious issues. We’ve seen fantastical creatures that would have anyone running for the hills since the first pic and each villain has ranged from the sinister to the murderous but this is different. Many of the adults on the side of the heroes, from the delightfully batty Professor Moody to the oddly neurotic Ministry of Magic official Barty Crouch (Roger Lloyd-Pack), have a darker side that shows the series is growing with its audience.
When Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ends, you’ll be eager for what’s next. The plot promises so much more to come and adds much complexity to everything we’ve seen before. The big scenes are the kind that sticks in your memory and they’re made even more robust by everything surrounding them: the characters, the world, the writing, the performances and the art direction. The length may feel daunting but trust me, you won't feel it. (On Blu-ray, July 21, 2018)

The Harry Potter series is a seven-book fantasy series written by J.K. Rowling. The books chronicle the lives of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's conflict with Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body known as the Ministry of Magic and subjugate all wizards and Muggles (non-magical people).
The books are set in the fictional British town of Little Whinging, Surrey, and follow Harry from the age of 11 to the age of 17. The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, introduces Harry to the wizarding world and his friends Hermione and Ron. The second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, sees Harry and his friends investigate the Chamber of Secrets, a mysterious chamber that is opening and attacking Muggle-born students. The third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, introduces Harry to the Dementors, soul-sucking creatures that guard the wizarding prison of Azkaban. The fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, sees Harry compete in the Triwizard Tournament, a dangerous competition between three schools of magic. The fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, sees Harry and his friends fight against Lord Voldemort's supporters, the Death Eaters. The sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, sees Harry learn more about Lord Voldemort's past and his own connection to the dark wizard. The seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, sees Harry and his friends go on the run from Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Legendary: Harry Potter
A film that I will do a critical review on is a 2011 fantasy film called “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”. The director and screenwriter are David Yates and Steve Kloves respectively. This film is the second part continued from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.” For your information, this film is the finale of a film series, “Harry Potter,” consisting of eight seasons and adapted from J. K. Rowling’s seven books. Also, this film is from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” by J. K. Rowling divided into two parts, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and 2.”
Tumblr media
First of all, let us see a little bit of general information about this entertainment piece in brief. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” and all of its previous seasons’ settings mainly at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry located in the Highland of Scottish. Hogwarts has four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, to divide their students under each house’s professors. Here are the names and summaries of the eight seasons of the Harry Potter film series.
(Spoiler alert!)
(1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) is the prologue that is the introduction to the Harry Potter film series. His mom protected him by sacrificing her life on that day he was tended to be killed. Harry is chosen to be in Gryffindor and meets his two best friends named Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. The Philosopher's Stone is wanted to rescue the Dark Lord, and also Harry is again firstly saved from the maternal love that protects him.
(2) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), the place where Ron’s sister, Ginny Weasley is used to bait to kill Harry Hotter by the mysterious and dangerous creature, Basilisk living in it. Harry Potter can save Ginny and kill Basilisk safely with the help of the school headmaster, Albus Dumbledore’s phoenix named Fawkes whose tears can heal him from Basilisk's poisonous bite.
(3) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Sirius Black, escapes from the wizard prison and comes to see Harry tell him about his father, James Potter. Sirius Black’s truth is also revealed that he is Harry’s godfather one of the Marauders, mischievous friends of James.
(4) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) is another season recommended to watch. There is the Triwizard Tournament taking place at Hogwarts. It is a competition consisting of three champions from three wizardry schools, Hogwarts united wizardry school, Drumstrang the male wizardry school, and Beauxbatons the female wizardry school.
(5) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) is when Harry Potter tries telling others about the comeback of the Dark Lord, but no one cares so he establishes Dumbledore’s Army following a group of wizards who are against the Dark Lord. The prophecy tells us that Harry and Voldemort cannot live if the other survives.
(6) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) is the season that some of Voldemort’s seven Horcruxes, magical objects that Voldemort parts his spirit into them, are revealed and destroyed and they must be all destroyed to defeat the Dark Lord Voldemort.
(7.1) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010) first mentions the three Deathly Hallows, the Invisibility Cloak that its wearer will not be seen, the Resurrection Stone that can resurrect dead people in form of ghosts, and the Elder Wand that is the strongest and undefeatable wand in the wizardry world. It is told through The Tales of Beedle the Bard (written by J.K. in reality) that the owner of these three powerful magical objects will be immune to death.
(7.2) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011) is mainly about finding the remaining Voldemort’s Horcruxes and destroying it to win against him and save Hogwarts after Albus Dumbledore’s death and his ingenious plan in helping Harry defeat the Dark Lord.
From my point of view, I think that the two approaches that help display the critical aspects of this entertainment piece are the genre approach and the auteur approach since any national approach’s notions cannot be seen at all.
Tumblr media
For the genre approach, it is an epic absolutely legendary fantasy feature film among other fantasy films that I have seen. The fantasy genre belongs to fantastic themes like magic, supernatural elements, folklore, and myths mingled together. This genre is another speculative fiction. This film genre has various subgenres, too. For example, fantasy mysteries like eight films from the Harry Potter film series, fantasy superheroes like Justice League (2017), fantasy musicals like My Little Pony (1981), and romantic fantasy like Twilight (2008). In general, each film only focuses on one particular fantasy film element. For instance, Twilight (2008) is only about vampires and werewolves, and My Little Pony (1981) is about the power of magic or friendship is magic.  But when it comes to the Harry Potter film series, prevailing elements that can be seen widespread in fantasy films are mostly mixed used in the Harry Potter film series such as the main characters are wizards and witches who can cast spells, enchantments, or even curses. Other magical creatures like dragons, elves, ghosts, vampires, and werewolves also can be seen often in this film. There are also magical objects like the three Deathly Hallows made by the devil, the Pensieve sink that allows you to see others’ memory, and the seven Horcruxes that contain pieces of one’s spirit. The universal theme of love is mixed here with supernatural things, too. There is the power of love that can be seen through magic whether it is maternal love, friendship, or even one-sided love. It can be seen that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” mixes most elements of fantasy genre films smoothly, and that makes this film outstanding from other fantasy films in common. Moreover, the Harry Potter film series started with its prologue called “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” which was released in 2001 so there were not many epic fantasy films to compare with. It can be concluded that Harry Potter films are the historical distinctions of this genre and a prototype of other fantasy films that picked some elements from this film series and developed them individually but not as epic as this series.
Tumblr media
For the auteur approach, the filmmakers of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” can be considered a dream team to be honest. The team consists of the Director named David Yates, the screenwriter named Steve Kloves, the composer named Alexandre Desplat, the film editor named Mark Day, and the producers David Heyman, David Barron, and J.K. Rowling herself. There are many others in the positions mentioned but I will mainly talk about those who have participated in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”, and also Part 1 since they have connected. David Yates directed Harry Potter seasons 5-7.2. Steve Kloves did the screenplay for all seasons except for the fifth. Alexandre Desplat composed all seasons. Mark Day edited seasons 5 to 7.2. David Heyman is a producer of all seasons, and David Barron started the fifth season while J.K. only does seasons 7.1 and 7.2. It can be seen that all of them participated in making at least two seasons that are “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and 2.” So, they worked together very well as a teamwork to make this film an epic epilogue of the Harry Potter film series. They control how witchcraft and wizardry fantasy films look when it comes out to the public audience. Historical conditions of these auteurs are quite difficult to discuss because there was any fantasy film that mixed up almost every supernatural and magical thing altogether like Harry Potter was made of.  The auteurist unity implies their studio system that all the filmmakers have independence and make this film series a noticeable influence on other fantasy films in the industry afterward.  However, the Harry Potter series has its spin-off called “Fantastic Beasts” (also written by J.K.) that consists of three seasons and ongoing; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022). Some of the members participated in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and 2,” concluding David Yates, J.K Rowling, David Heyman, and Steve Kloves takes part in the Fantastic Beasts film series, too. Their role may be switched in filmmaking. Even though the Fantastic Beasts film series may not be as popular and grand as how Harry Potter was but as you can see some similar elements are shared between these two series since the filmmakers are almost the same as Harry Potter and it is a spin-off that is somewhat connected in story. In summary, these filmmakers are somehow considered a dream team of epic fantasy films.
Tumblr media
The auteur approach used in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” makes images for the casts of this film, and all the films in the film series. The film makes team successfully done making the trio of Gryffindor, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger alive until now by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson respectively. Also, Lord Voldemort becomes a model for an evil character with a distorted face even though Ralph Fiennes is not recognized because it is not his real face. Nevertheless, they are unforgettable after watching the film. When Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson were, people can recognize them immediately. The team and J.K. had done it incredibly and memorably.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, the genre approaches, the production team, and all of the filmmakers had created an extremely high bar that any other fantasy film at present can beat this film series at all. How can a fantasy movie be grand and epic like this again I am still wondering and patiently waiting for it soon.
Tumblr media
All in all, when it comes to a fantasy film made by a great film team, the Harry Potter film series is a must. Even if you are a Potterhead, a person who fell in love with the Harry Potter film series, or a muggle, a person knowing nothing about the wizardry world, I recommend you watch “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”. I recommend the series’ epilogue instead of its prologue because it is the best franchise ending of a film series in my opinion. If you start one season, any season, you will want to know a lot more about it and watch the rest in no time I guarantee.

Review | Hogwarts Legacy
Tumblr media
Note: Were it not for controversial comments made by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, this game would be universally beloved and applauded. As it stands, there are a fair amount of people that view supporting this game as the same as supporting repression of or violence against transgendered individuals. The Geek Cave Podcast does not endorse any views or movements that practice anything other than peace, acceptance, and tolerance. A game code was provided for review; the following article looks solely at the game and its individual merits.
Anyone who has ever heard a story about wizards and witches and picked up a twig as a child to pretend it was a magic wand has wondered, at some point or another, what it would be like to actually be able to practice magic, casting spells, riding fantastic beasts (or brooms), and having incredible power at one’s own disposal. Portkey Games’ Hogwarts Legacy, which takes place within the Harry Potter universe but centuries prior to Harry’s own adventures, seeks to at least give you a taste of what that’s like, and it does so admirably.
Tumblr media
You take on the role of a new student at Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry known the world over, except you’re no ordinary student: you’re jumping in as a fifth-year student (practically unheard of except for a few outliers) and also have the ability to see traces of ancient magic (ditto on the “practically unheard of” part). The game wastes no time in alerting you to the seriousness of the whole situation by having a dragon attack your ride to Hogwarts, straight up eating one of your carriage’s passengers in the process.
Tumblr media
Once you escape, your studies begin, as you balance getting classwork done with unraveling an ancient mystery into the special magic that is also desired by a group of goblins revolting against the current societal norms. Whlle there were some concerns prior to launch about the goblin race seemingly being used as a charicature for the Jews, in my playing experience the “evil” goblins made up a minority of the goblins you’ll encounter in the game; it seems, just like with any other group of people, there are good and bad examples.
Tumblr media
Commentary aside, the world is as you may remember it from the Warner Bros. Hogwarts-related films. Hogwarts itself is lovingly recreated in fine detail, including a small memorial at the groundskeeper’s hut in honor of Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane. Hogsmeade, similarly, is vibrant and full of the same energy you get glimpses of in the films (disclaimer: I haven’t read the books but I’ve been assured by a few said book series fans that the details are spot on). The environments and set pieces are well-made, and the visual effects from each individual spell also look great. The only time I had a hard time actively looking at Hogwarts Legacy was when I tried it out on the Steam Deck (we received a code for the PC version). On a decent PC or laptop, it looks great. On the Steam Deck, it runs on low to medium settings, and you’ll be able to tell it was a bit scaled down. Expect the Switch version to be similar.
Tumblr media
Gameplay-wise, though, no matter what version you pick up, combat feels fast and very customizable. I compared it to the Fable or Kingdoms of Amalur series of games when talking about my experience with a friend. Specific spells are mapped to the face buttons on your controller, while the right trigger can fire a basic attack spell when tapped. Defensive actions are also mapped to the face buttons; to differentiate between those and using a particular spell, just hold the right trigger before casting... and there are a lot of spells to learn, giving you ample reason to take on side quests.
Tumblr media
Speaking of side quests, Hogwarts Legacy gives you plenty to keep yourself occupied, whether you’re into fetch quests, monster hunting, or herbology. Eventually you’ll unlock the Room of Requirement, which will let you set up your own potion brewing and plant growing stations plus more. Hogwarts Legacy almost has too many things for you to do, as I found myself constantly overpowered for whatever part of the main campaign I finally got around to doing after first focusing on doing things for my classmates and teachers. Each “house” of Hogwarts Legacy also has exclusive sidequests, so completionists will have to replay multiple times (I went with Hufflepuff for my first playthrough because it’s the only one that featured a trip to Azkaban Prison).
Tumblr media
The game’s soundtrack evokes the classic John Williams theme, which even showed up as an easter egg for a particular puzzle. Voice acting is mostly good, with a couple of side characters being a bit annoying to listen to (but not to the point of unbearable).
Tumblr media
Overall, Hogwarts Legacy delivers exactly what someone would want from a Wizarding World game. Controversy about the world’s creator aside, it’s clear that the team behind the game care deeply about not only the fiction, but the real-world fandom.
Be Like Me. Definitely worth playing.

Hogwarts Legacy – Official Reveal Trailer | February 10, 2023 on PS5, PC...
Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is a role-playing video game (RPG) developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in collaboration with Portkey Games. The game will be released in February 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Windows, via Epic Games Store and Steam); in April 2023 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in July 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
This game takes place in the world of wizards created by J. K. Rowling, without her being involved in the development and the scenario of the game.
In 2022, Hogwarts Legacy is considered by some journalists to be the most anticipated video game of the year.
Initially scheduled for 2021, the game's release was later announced for Christmas 2022. In August 2022, Avalanche Software announced the postponement of the game for the beginning of the following year, with a specific first release date.
History:
The plot takes place in the extended fantasy universe imagined by J. K. Rowling for the Harry Potter novels and the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films. It follows the development of a wizard or witch, i.e. the person who plays the game, within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 1800s, before the events of Rowling's two series.
The first phase of the game is a phase of integration and discovery of Hogwarts, its magic classes and the surroundings of the domain. The embodied character, endowed with an ancient and singular magic, is integrated directly into the fifth year of studies, and learns to develop his magical abilities by casting various spells, preparing potions and taming fantastic animals.
As he progresses through the game, the character comes to understand that the particular magic he holds is coveted by goblins and dark mages to destroy the wizarding world.
The stories adapt to the course chosen by the person who plays and it is possible to select his companions to evolve in the game.
Characters:
The main character can be male or female, and fully customizable. During the adventure, he is guided by several protagonists, such as the enigmatic professor Eleazar Fig, who informs him of a potential rebellion by a group of goblins led by a certain Rannrok, and the threat that weighs on Hogwarts.
The character meets several other notable students who come to help her in her quests and entrust their story to her, such as Natsai Onai, a courageous Gryffindor student driven by her thirst for justice; Poppy Sweeting, from Hufflepuff, an altruistic student fascinated by magical creatures, or even Sebastian Pallow (Sallow in English), a charismatic Slytherin student, hiding a dark family secret, Grignet (Deek), a house elf, helps the person who plays to organize the room on demand according to his needs and to discover its particular functionalities.
Game system:
Hogwarts Legacy is an action-adventure role-playing game (RPG) in an open world, It is played in single player mode and in objective vision.
In the character creation menu at the start of the game, the person can choose their appearance (face shape, eyes, skin color, hair, accessories), voice tone, first and last name, Hogwarts house as well as than his dormitory (girls or boys).
The avatar progresses in the game by being equipped with a magic wand, A system of morality is also present: the missions and scenarios are not the same according to the choices of the person and the values that he decides to defend during adventure
