aw winter being the time of year katsuki doesn't want to get out of bed without you 🥺 you've grown used to waking up in the morning when he leaves, and then waking up a few hours later in an empty bed—but during this season, you wake up with him curled around your back, leg between yours, face buried in your neck below the blanket. like fully encapsulating you and trying to roast you both alive 🥺

REQUEST: So a girl named y/n is Steve’s best friend. But they are very attracted to each other. Steve once dreamed that he and Y/N had sex. So one evening, Steve comes to watch a movie at Y/N, they talk about the dream and then…the smut part. @safinkd
SHOW ME, STEVE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve woke up in sweat and out of breath, his mind filling with the imagine of you, and him, naked on his bed doing things that best friends shouldn't do
he sat up, leaning on one arm as he ran his other hand though his hair.
he looked down at his pants and cursed under his breath
"fuck"
he got up and groggily walked to his bedroom to clean himself
he didn't know why his unconscious state would come up with something so... freaky, especially with you.
Steve has had his fair share of wet dreams before, but it's never revolved around you, and it has never been that graphic before, it was almost as if it was a memory
he went back to his bed and looked at the clock that sat on his nightstand
6:39am it read
he shook his head at the time and groaned.
the image of you in his head was something he couldn't shake off, it was imprinted on his mind and it had no intention of leaving anytime soon
of course he's thought about it, there's no way that in the 14 years of knowing you, he was bound to think about it sooner or later
-
Steve heard the phone ring from downstairs and since his parents weren't home, he had to get it
he took his time going down the stairs and into the livingroom
he walked to the phone that hung on the wall and picked it up
"hi, harringto-" he stared grumpily, sick of saying the same thing over and over again when he picks up the phone
"steve!" he heard your voice
"who is this?" he joked, knowing you hate it when he does it
"oh shut up, Steve" he could practically hear the eyeroll "just checking in to see if we're still on for tonight"
Steve's mouth went dry, he had totally forgot about his plans with you to go to your house that night
how could he face you with the image of you both in his bed running in his mind, still not leaving
"Steve? you there?" you questioned
"yeah, yeah, I'm still coming over tonight" he spoke up after clearing his throat
"ok, good- and please, for the love of god pick a good movie, Steve. I'm sorry, but I don't know if I can handle watching vision quest again" you sighed
it was an understatement to say Steve liked the movie vision quest, he took you to see it in the theatre when it came out not too long ago and every time he would come over to watch a movie at yours he would rent out that movie that you've gotten sick of it
"so I rent out vision quest?" he asked, wanting to annoy you
"Steve i swear to god if you bring Vision quest again I'm not letting you into my house" you huffed
"you will"
"no I won't"
"you will but whatever, I gotta go now, I need to get ready for work" Steve argued
"alright, bye, have a terrible day" you yawned
"bye"
-
Steve knocked on your door, a copy of back to the future in the bag full of your favourite candies
you opened the door slightly, peeking your head out, glaring at him warily
"what movie did you rent?" you asked dully, not letting him in until you had an answer
"vision quest" Steve lied with a smirk on his face
you continued glaring at him "seriously?"
"no, back to the future" he replied, taking it out of the bag and showing it to you
"ok, I don't have a problem with that" you smiled, opening the door and letting him in
he looked at what you were wearing and almost flinched when he saw almost the exact outfit you were wearing in his dream
"c'mon, I'm hungry" you groaned, grabbing his arm before pulling him in, shutting the door behind him
you ran to your room as he chased you up.
you went to the phone on your table and looked at the list of numbers named with restaurants next to the digits
"pizza, chinese, what do you want?" you asked as he sat down on your bed
"pizza sounds good" Steve shrugged
you ordered the pizza and flopped onto the bed next to him, not noticing the way he tensed up
"how was your day?" you asked casually, sitting up and getting comfy in your bed next to him
"it was fine, work was boring" Steve took a deep breath, rubbing his hands on his jeans
it was boring, he barely got anything done and was distracted by you, even if you were there, you stayed in his mind the whole day, never leaving
"no hot girls in groups coming in to flirt with you?" you questioned, tilting your head
there was a few girls that tried to get his number by he paid them no attention, ignoring them completely, letting Robin take care of them, they seemed more her type anyway, even if she didn't care either
"I'll get the movie going" he said, getting the movie and putting it into the tv, getting the remote and putting it on while you waited for the pizza
around 10 minutes into the film you heard a faint buzz from the front door.
you ran down stairs with money your parents gave you and paid for it
you got back to your room and put the pizza on the bed
"dig in, Harrington" you grinned before crawling into your bed again, getting close to Steve as he took the first slice, the movie still playing as he didn't unpause it.
Steve looked over at you at some point in the movie and stared as you watched the movie, eating your favourite snacks he brought
"Y/n?" he spoke up making you raise your eyebrows, your eyes still on the film
"yeah?" you whispered
"do you ever have weird dreams?" he asked curiously
"depends on what you classify as weird" you took another slice of pizza
"about me" he hesitated
you looked at him with a tilted head, not quite following what he was saying
"Steve, what do you mean?" you smiled, confused by his words
"have you ever had a-" he paused, closing his eyes tightly "a sex dream?"
you sat next to him, stunned and frozen
"uhm- well uh- not that I remember, why? have you?" you answered
"what if I did?" Steve took a deep breath
Steve was never nervous around girls, especially you. but he didn't know what to think, he's never reacted to a wet dream like this before, but then again, it's never been about you, it made him confused and awkward around you.
you shrugged "I guess it's a normal thing to happen"
"yeah" Steve nodded vigorously, watching as you smiled tightly, going back to watching the movie
Steve shifted as your thigh brushed against his
"what if- what if it was about you?" he blurted out
your head whipped in his direction with wide eyes
"did you have a sex dream about me, Steve?" you wondered nervously
"yes"
it stayed silent for a bit, you just staring at him while he fiddled with his fingers under the blanket
you let out a light laugh as you found the situation funny
"what did we do?" you asked
Steve grew confused at your reaction but then all of the nervousness washed away did you like the idea of it?
"wouldn't you want to know?" he chuckled lowly
you sat up straight and turned to him
"I would actually, or would you prefer to show me?" Steve noticed you biting your lip slightly, you did like the idea of it
"really?" he moved back slightly, getting a good look at you
you slowly nodded your head, leaning towards him
"show me what we did, Steve" you mumbled, getting closer and closer
he leaned in and waited to make sure it was ok
you nodded again and he kissed your lips gently. he felt you kiss back and he smiled against your lips
he laid you down and put you in the middle of the bed, the kiss deepening as he held your cheek
he took his other hand and held your waist, his hand going up your shirt just a little and rubbed your skin with his thumb
he moved down to kiss your jaw and made his way down to your neck, letting it bruise as he sucked on the delicate skin of your sweet spot
he heard your breath hitch as you closed your eyes
soon enough, he had your shirt off as was staring at your chest, admiring the way they looked through your light baby pink laced bra
"where'd you get this?" he questioned, playing with the strap, pulling on it and letting it go, hearing the clap noise it made when it hit your soft skin
"Victoria's Secret" you sighed in content, looking up at him with soft eyes
"I don't think there's gonna be any secrets to tell after I take this off" Steve smirked
"well by this rate you're getting nothing, you're taking your sweet ass time" you teased
"is there something wrong with admiring the view? I'm just taking you all in"
"I thought I'm the one supposed to do that with you?" you smirked playfully, laughing at the face he made when he realised what you meant
he reached behind your back and unclipped it, letting it pop off.
he slid it up your arms and took a deep breath when he looked at your exposed chest
he took both of his thumbs, running them over both of the nipple
he leaned down and took one in his mouth, swirling his tongue around the bud while holding the other, giving your tit squeezes and pinches
you stopped him and took his shirt off, throwing it on the floor, not caring where it ended up
he smiled at you before kissing you down your stomach getting to the top of your jeans
he looked up at you from your torso and silently asked for approval
you bit your lip and nodded your head, watching as he unbuttoned your jeans, unzipped them and slid them off, chucking them off from the rest of your clothes
Steve felt himself become hard at the sight of your panties that matched the bra that was abandoned only a few moments ago
he gripped onto your leg and lifted it up before kissing on the inner thigh, getting closer and closer to your clothes heat with each kiss
you stopped him again and told him to get off his pants, he leaned up and rushed to get them off, he pulled them down and shook them off before going back to you
"hurry up" you whined "show me, Steve. show me what we did, Please"
that was all Steve needed to hear before he slipped your panties down, slowly, making you whine more
he felt his mouth water as the sigh of your fully bare body in front of him, desperate for his touch
he lifted his hand up and reached to touch it, looking at you to make sure you were ok
his index finger ran along your folds, that had grown wet at some point in the process of getting your clothes off
"steve" you sighed lightly
he sat up and took his boxers off, letting them go wherever
he leaned down and leveled with you, giving you a kiss, letting his head fall to your shoulder before he pushed himself in
you let out a painful moan- painful because of how long it took, how desperate you were
"you ok?" he asked
"perfect"
he started moving in and out, watching the way your eyebrows would furrow and how your mouth would open, the noises you made sounding exactly how they did in his dream
his pace quickened and he held your hand that started to harshly dig into his back
"oh, Steve. fucking hell" you moaned, arching your back as he hit all the right places
he felt you tug at his hair and pulled it back, making him look up at the ceiling
he wasn't a very vocal guy when it came to sex, but he couldn't help but groan and grunt at the feeling of him inside you
he never thought he would be in your room, both naked and pleasing each other, it was something that he would often find himself thinking about, but he never thought it would ever actually happen
"steve" he heard you moan quietly before you let out a squeal of surprise when he reached down at began to rub your clit
"yeah?" he replied, out of breath as he thrusted deep inside you, feeling every part of you
"I-" you paused, the feeling becoming too much "I'm gonna- I'm gonna"
"you can do it" Steve encouraged, feeling himself grow to the point of an orgasm as well
a few more deep thrust, it began to get sloppy and you let out a load, long moan as you squirmed in your spot, only staying still from his hand that held your hip
he held it in as he let you finish before pulling out, letting himself finish on his hand
"is that all we did?" you asked, trying to calm yourself and catch your breath
"that wasn't even the beginning"

Atsumu
Tumblr media
Curling yourself into a ball, you tightly clenched at the blanket, trying to imagine Atsumu’s warmth surrounding you. You dearly missed your husband, touch-starved from not seeing him for two days. A smile spread across your face knowing that he would be in your arms again in a couple hours.
You knew dating a pro-volleyball player would mean nights alone in your shared apartment. It was hard at first, but you slowly got used to it, knowing he would walk through the front door and come back home to you.
Later that day, you were quietly humming to yourself while cooking dinner for Atsumu and yourself when you heard the doorknob jiggling followed by the sound of keys. Excitement and anticipation coursed through your body as you quickly went to greet your husband at the door. As soon as the door opened to reveal the blond setter, you rushed into his arms.
“Y/n,” Atsumu breathed into your hair, holding you tight, “I missed you so much.”
Snuggling into his chest, you replied, “I missed you too.”
Pulling away, you looked up at him, “Dinner’s almost ready. Go wash up first.”
Atsumu placed a quick kiss on your forehead, muttering a quick I love you before picking up his bags and heading towards your bedroom.
Hearing the shower turn on, you returned to cooking. Hands dry from washing the dishes, you decided to go grab some lotion, heading into the bathroom. You stopped dead in your tracks, however, when you glanced at Atsumu.
Back turned towards you, the setter was unaware of your presence in the bathroom. Red, angry marks lined his broad shoulders as hickeys were dotted across his neck. You hadn’t even realized you were crying until your vision started blurring. Quickly slipping out of the bathroom, you went into your shared bedroom, packing a small bag with your belongings. Silent sobs racked your body as you imagined Atsumu’s breath on another’s neck, whispering sweet nothings into their ears as he gave himself away to them.
You couldn’t believe it. Your husband, your Atsumu. More than anything, you wanted to know why? What did you not give? Was your marriage worth nothing to him? Texting your best friend, you told them you’d be staying at their house for the night, not offering further explanation.
Did he mean it when he proclaimed his love earlier? You couldn’t help but wonder how many times he’s done this. How many times has he betrayed your trust, indulged in another person as you patiently waited for his return. Scoffing in anger, you hastily pulled your ring off your left hand, placing it on his bedside table along with a note. Anger surged through your body as you stared at the diamond gleaming at you, memories of the day Atsumu got down on one knee as he asked to spend the rest of his life with you flooding back. That day, you left, never turning back, putting the past five years with Atsumu behind you.
The apartment was noticeably colder when Atsumu finally stepped out of the shower. Quickly changing, he walked out to the kitchen, craving your embrace. He couldn’t wait to sit down and just talk, maybe cuddle and watch a movie until the both of you fell asleep in each other’s arms. The setter missed you dearly during his time away, and he wanted to make up for lost time. However, you were nowhere to be found. He searched through the entire apartment only to be met with silence.
Maybe she went out to buy something, Atsumu thought to himself. His thoughts were interrupted, however, when he noticed a note on his nightstand.
‘I’ll be gone for a couple of days. I’ll eventually come back for the rest of my stuff, but I just can’t bear to see you right now. I hope it was worth it. Glad to know our marriage was worth dog shit to you. Don’t come looking for me, the last thing I want to see is you right now.’
The note in the setter’s hands began to shake as he glanced at your wedding ring on the table. He thought he heard the door open in the shower earlier, but didn’t think much of it. It was only when his shampoo ran down his back that he realized he had marks on his back. Atsumu knew he messed up as soon as the deed was over. Your comforting smile continuously flashed through his mind as he pulled his shirt back over his head. He felt sick to his stomach opening his phone to find a text from you telling him to take care of himself when another person’s scent lingered on him.
He couldn’t lose you. He needed to find you, tell you it was all a drunken mistake. It was the alcohol, not him. The thought of you despising him made the setter choke out a sob, rushing out the door in hopes to catch up to you. It didn’t mean anything to him. It was getting too lonely without you, and he indulged in alcohol in hopes to fill the void. His eyes searched frantically, legs and lungs burning from running down countless flights of steps, hoping to catch a glance of you and bring you back him.
But it was too late. It was over. Atsumu already ruined everything.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
Oikawa
Tumblr media
Frustration boiled through Oikawa as he rubbed his hands over his face. He didn’t mean to lash out at you, after all, you were just being a caring partner. Concerns for the setter’s health turned into a full-blown argument resulting with you in tears and Oikawa at a local bar, drowning his misery in liquor. His state of mind grew foggier with each shot he downed. So when the scent of perfume engulfed his senses as seductive whispers filled his ears, he gave in.
You were waken up by the sound of a clatter coming from the kitchen followed by a loud ‘fuck!’
Groggily, you glanced at the alarm clock on your nightstand.
12:47am
Heading towards the source of noise, you found your boyfriend curled in a ball on the ground. The stench of alcohol overwhelmed your nostrils as you attempted to get your boyfriend to stand.
You couldn’t help but smile at the ‘I’m so sorry, y/n’s and the ‘Please forgive me’s coming out of your boyfriend’s mouth, assuming he was referring to your earlier argument. Sighing, you laid him down on your mattress, walking towards his closet to grab his pajamas. With great struggle, you successfully peeled the shirt from Oikawa’s back before he flopped back down on the mattress. Preparing to shove his night shirt over his head, your movements froze as you took in the claw marks running down his back. Blood running cold, you glanced at the setter’s face, seemingly peaceful as he slept.
Anger coursed through your veins at the thought of him running into another person’s arms when your relationship got a little tough.
Pathetic.
You scoffed as you threw his shirt on the ground. Blinded by rage, your mind didn’t register your hand coming in contact with his cheek.
A loud smack sounded through the empty night as Oikawa’s eyes shot open.
“You piece of shit,” you venomously spit out.
Confusion visible clouded Oikawa’s eyes as he began adjusting to his surroundings, obviously sobering up.
“Y-y/n, what was that for?” Oikawa began sitting up, eyebrows furrowed together.
“So what, we have one argument and you decide to go fuck some random person?” You raised your voice at the man sitting in front of you.
“What are you talking about? I didn’t-”
“Cut the crap, Oikawa,” ignoring the pain flashing through Oikawa’s eyes at the use of his last name, “The hickey on your neck and scratch marks are more than enough proof that you cheated on me.”
Panic flashed in Oikawa’s eyes as he realized what was happening, the gravity of the situation registering in his mind. He cheated on you.
“I-” Oikawa stuttered, words getting stuck in his throat at the thought of losing you. He couldn’t even make excuses, knowing he had been caught red-handed in his infidelity.
“I’m staying in a hotel for the rest of the night. I’m coming back tomorrow afternoon, and your shit better be out of here by then,” your eyes hardened as you turned around, beginning to pack a small bag with essential belongings. Panic rose in Oikawa as he scrambled to stop you.
“Wait, y/n, let’s talk this out,” Oikawa pleaded, tears welling in his eyes, “We can fix this, right? You can’t leave me, I love you!”
The setter’s heart shattered as you flinched away from his touch, as if it physically hurt you to be near him.
“If you truly loved me, you wouldn’t have cheated on me,” you managed to choke out, zipping up your bag.
“I do love you, y/n! Please, believe me,” Oikawa desperately pleaded, sobs racking his body, “I didn’t mean to! It didn’t mean anything, y/n, I can fix this, I promise!”
“You seem to have a habit of breaking your promises, Oikawa,” your voice audibly weaker. You needed to get away from him, away from the source of your heartbreak.
“Y/n, wait! Please-” Oikawa’s voice was cut off by the slam of the front door.
It wasn’t until 47 missed calls, 118 messages, and 32 voicemails later, that Oikawa realized you were never coming back to him. You had walked out of his life forever, and it was all his fault.

part 1 part 2
Tumblr media
Party lights, red solo cups, booze and streams of laughter are present in the air. (Y/N) is thoroughly enjoying the party. After all, she just lied to her parents about going to a birthday party. But it’s actually a birthday party, a wild birthday party.
“HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY TENGEN”
Everybody shouts at the top of their lungs and goes “WOOOOOOOOH”. Tengen is now covered in confetti, booze, and girls. The drunk ladies latched themselves on him and he kissed their heads one by one.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, everyone! Let’s get this party started!!!!” And everyone goes crazy and jumps out on the large pool outside.
You smile at their enthusiasm and shook your head to yourself, feeling good and happy about this event. Shinobu rolled her eyes and just went for the kitchen while Mitsuri is snacking on the food at the table, quietly.
A scream left Shinobu’s lips as Tengen picked her up and proceeded to walk to your way. Mitsuri dropped her food while you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion on what is happening.
“Oh no” Mitsuri mumbled before running away but Tengen caught her and placed her on his shoulder alongside Shinobu.
“NOOOOOOOOO. Please let me go!” Mitsuri cried out as she kept on hitting Tengen’s back.
“How about you (Y/N)? Are you gonna disobey the flamboyant birthday boy’s wishes?”
“If you’re gonna do that to me, then no. What do you want?” You asked crossing your arms and turned on your sassy mode.
“For the good girls club to have some fun! Why are you guys holding back? There’s so much fun this flamboyant party has to offer!” Tengen exclaimed.
“Please let me go.” Shinobu said with a smile on her face but she is really annoyed.
Before Tengen could say anything, a voice interrupted him.
“Hey! Let my friends go!” Makomo ran towards Tengen and pulled on Shinobu and Mitsuri’s arm but Tengen was far too tall so he lifted the girls up.
“Not until you grow some height!” Tengen clapped back which made Makomo extra angry. Sabito laughed loudly and kept wheezing about the joke.
“That’s a good one Tengen!”
“Ye- Oh! Hey! Giyuu! My man!” The tall man threw the girls on his shoulders onto the pool causing screams to fill the air.
You laugh at their situation but you are suddenly pushed onto the water. It was just like slow motion when you fell. Underneath the water, you move your legs so that you resurface but you seem to be having a hard time. Your legs feel tired and numb. Oh my gosh, is this how I’m going to die? Who the fuck killed me?
A huge splash can be heard as bubbles formed in the water and made way for someone’s body. Mesmerizing blue eyes met yours and you could feel as if you’re running out of breath. Are you running out of breath because of the water? Or because of those blue eyes?
Strong arms wrapped around your waist as you float back to the surface. You gasped for breath and put your hands to your face to whisk away the water on your face.
Makomo held her hand for you and you accepted it to get out of the pool. Shinobu put a towel around your body as Mitsuri put a towel around your head.
“What the fuck? Did you guys forget that I can’t swim?” You scream at them angrily as tears welled up in your eyes. The boys couldn’t look at you and the girls looked at you sadly.
“Giyuu pushed you” You turned your head to the voice and found Sanemi standing beside Obanai. Who the hell is Giyuu?
“I’m sorry. Sanemi bumped into me and I accidentally pushed you from the impact, I’m sorry.” A deep attractive voice perked your ears and led you looking at a man beside the pool with his head hung low. Water dripped from the man’s dark hair to his blue shirt and to his black sweatpants. He was basically covered in water and he looked hot.
He’s the one who saved you. It was the same blue eyes that met yours underwater. But your heart swelled with anger and angry tears filled your eyes, disregarding the fact that he saved you. But he was also the one who almost killed you!
You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything to him, because the way his head hung low as if utterly begging for forgiveness hurt your heart. Tears fell down your cheeks as you keep looking at him. It was like someone kept on stabbing your heart.
“(Y/N)” Makomo said softly and guided you out of the scene. Shinobu and Mitsuri followed on as everyone fell quiet.
————————————
You didn’t go to parties anymore. You didn’t want to see that guy again. Giyuu Tomioka.
Life was boring without your friend’s killer parties. The girls offered to stay behind with you but you shooed them because you knew they wanted to go. But of course, they felt bad that they left you alone. So they ordered food and drinks for you, making you surprised since Mitsuri didn’t try to eat them.
And now you’re alone. Watching boring movies since you almost watched everything on Netflix.
You can’t take it anymore. You need to get out. So you put on decent clothes and headed to the bar and café for music and relaxation.
It was another chill night at the place you went to. The band is singing slow soft songs about the betrayals of love and you feel like crying.
You wipe your tears before they truly cascade down. Then suddenly two glasses of beer thump down at your table. You look at whoever placed it there and the sight widened your eyes.
What is he doing here? Giyuu sat down on the chair opposite to yours and slid the other glass of beer to your direction. Instead of being nice and saying thank you, you spat at him. “Who said you can sit there?”
He froze. Sadness passed in his eyes before blinking and returning to his normal gaze. You raised an eyebrow and he cleared his throat.
“I’m sorry, I’ll find another seat.” Giyuu said and took away his beer, leaving the other one behind. You look back to see him walking around to find an unoccupied space. He was about to take a seat when a group of friends clashed with him and they exchanged words for a while. He ended up giving up his seat.
You sighed at what you saw. Your heart clenched in hurt because he looked so pitiful finding a seat. Now, he’s just awkwardly leaning on a wall, drinking his beer a few inches from a couple making out.
You raised your hand and waved them at Giyuu’s direction. He took a double-take at you waving your hand at him, motioning for him to come to you. And he did, looking like a lost puppy.
He sat back down and you two drank the night away awkwardly.
————————————
It’s 7am on a Sunday morning with you just staring at the wall in your bedroom. You dreamed again about snow, demons, and a half-and-half haori. It’s all just the same thing over and over again.
Your mind takes you back when Giyuu offered to take you home. You said it’s alright but he insisted and you have no choice but to let him.
And the elevator scenario. Oh my gosh, the elevator scenario. Your face heats up as you cry into your pillow.
You live apart from your parents but they still ask you where you go, who is in your apartment and who are you bringing to your apartment. They just called in earlier and asked who you were with. Of course, you didn’t say who it was. You just said you’re with friends and ended the conversation.
And now the elevator is taking too damn slow to go up. You turn to Giyuu to find him asleep, and he leaned on your shoulder. You immediately got away from him as if he has an infectious disease and the poor guy is snapped back to reality. He looks around groggily and lands his sight on you which causes him to widen his eyes.
“I’m sorry-”
“Can you please stop apologizing? It’s getting annoying.” You said to him annoyed. The sight of his head low and his gaze to the floor is hurting your heart once again. You want to lift his head up and hug him. But why do you want to hug him? You shook your head.
“I’m sorry-”
“I said stop! Why won’t you stop apologizing?” You scream at him and he closes his eyes as if hurt. Tears escape your eyes because of the frustration and you don’t even know why you are frustrated.
You just kept crying in front of him and Giyuu comes close to you to embrace you but you push him away aggressively. He looked so shocked, hurt, sad, full of emotions.
The elevator door opened and you immediately went to your apartment door but a hand gripped your wrist.
Giyuu stood there, his brows furrowed in confusion and anger, his grip tight on you and you crying. You kept on trying to remove his hand on you but it wouldn’t budge.
You could always tell what’s in people’s eyes and your intuition never failed you. His eyes were full of affection and longing. His hand forced your hand to fit into his and now your fingers are between his fingers. Why are you doing this?
“I like you”
He said as if he read your thoughts.
“But...”
Your heart dropped.
“Why do you hate me?” Giyuu whispered
You have never cried so hard in your entire life.
a/n: I promise the next parts will make so much sense. I didn’t plan on this becoming a multi-chap fic. Oh well. It was all so much better in my head :((

Osamu stumbled to his door, crashing against it as he tried to enter his apartment. The shock sent some clarity to his head. Keys, he needed keys. Leaning against the door, he dug his hand into his pocket and fished around. Sharp, jagged metal scraped his hand, but he felt numb to it. The alcohol buzzing in his veins was enough to dull the pain. He pulled the keys out and promptly dropped them.
He cursed.
Osamu leaned down to pick them up, and with him the world tilted and spun. It felt like a broken clock hand, ticking then resetting. Spinning, then clicking back into place.
Grabbing at the keys blindly, he managed to pick them up. As he stood back up, he had to hold onto the door handle to keep himself from falling. He brought the keys up to his face to select the correct key before jamming it into the lock.
He fell through the door once it opened, barely catching himself in time. Osamu righted himself and closed the door behind him, barely remembering to throw the lock back into place. He stumbled to his bedroom and threw himself face first onto the bed. He laid there, face buried in the covers and started to drift off…
That is, until his phone began to ring.
He ignored the first call.
And the second.
Once the third began to sound he rolled over onto his back and picked up the phone.
“Whadda fuck you want?” He slurred.
“Fuck man, calm ‘yerself. Just checkin to make sure you got home okay,” Atsumu’s familiar drawl poured through the speaker. “You were fucken out of it, bro. But again, you insisted on walken yerself-”
“Well, I’m home alright,” Osamu snapped.
Astumu paused for a moment. “You gonna be alright?”
“Fuck you mean?”
“It’s been a month today,” Atsumu said softly. “‘Ts why I didn’t give you shit for calling me out to drink with you.”
“Oh it has?” Osamu feigned ignorance. He knew damn well what today was. Why did shitty ‘Sumu have to remind him?
“Cut yer shit ‘Samu. It’s okay to hurt but doing this…” Atsumu sighed. “‘M worried bout ya.”
“I’m fine,” Osamu spat. “Besides, what right do I have to hurt? I’m the one who broke up with her.”
“Yeah, but still-”
“I’m home fine. Now goodnight shithead.”
Atsumu sighed. “Goodnight, just rem-”
Osamu hung up.
Spending all my nights, all my money going out on the town / Doing anything just to get you off of my mind
Osamu stirred. His brain was still foggy, and his room still dim. He stretched out on the bed, pulling his arms up and over. His muscles felt tight and sore, probably from the practice ‘Sumu talked him into.
He sighed as he relaxed onto the bed, a dull thrumming in his head. It hurt, and he craved your touch to remedy it. He rolled over and patted the other side of the bed, intending to curl into you.
He opened his eyes.
Where were you?
You often got up before him, so this was nothing new. You were probably making breakfast for him. He sat up, groggily, and cleared his throat.
“Y/n? Can you get me some water?” He called out. “My head’s killing me and I don’t-”
His eyes landed on the bare half of the dresser. He still hadn’t moved his stuff over from when you left.
That’s right.
You weren’t here.
Osamu felt a wave of emotion hit him as the realization washed over him, leaving him shaken and cold.
He suddenly felt like an idiot for calling out to you, of course you weren’t here. He did that. He made you leave.
Osamu laid down and pulled the covers back over him.
For some reason, it was terribly cold.
He fought hard to swallow the lump in his throat.
But when the morning comes, I'm right back where I started again / And tryna forget you is just a waste of time
“Something bring ya down?”
Osamu looked up at the elderly cashier. She was giving him a soft, small smile. Pity.
“No of course not, I’m fine. Why do you ask?” Osamu responded, a little confused.
“You just look like you have a broken heart,” she smiled sweetly. She had so much care in her eyes. Just like you did when he told you to-
“Since when did they pay you to give out therapy?” Osamu snapped. He couldn’t hold himself back, anger dripped from his voice.
“S-sorry hun, I just-”
“Well don’t,” he growled. He paid quickly and stormed out of the store.
He didn’t realize until he got to the car that he forgot his groceries.
All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado / Tryna keep up  smile that hides a tear
Osamu sat nervously checking the clock. Why was his good-for-nothing brother so late? He was supposed to have been here 15 minutes ago.
He waited longer, and the longer he waited the more he regretted it.
But then his phone buzzed.
Osaumu walked as slowly as he could to the door and opened it. On the other side was his shitty brother. Atsumu nodded, and Osamu let him in.
“Ya know, she was the only one who supported you quittin’ volleyball.”
“Huh?” Osamu closed the door and stared at his brother.
“Just thinking about it,” Astumu shrugged.
“This isn’t even about her,” Osamu sighed. He walked to the kitchen counter where he already had a bottle and two glasses.
“Oh, fer fuck’s sake, can you quit lyin’ to me?” Atsumu’s drawl coated his words heavier as his frustration rose.
Osamu thought about some responses, but he didn’t use any of them. He just looked at the bottle; he couldn’t count how many he had been through this week.
“I… I can’t sleep without her…” Osamu’s voice was raw with emotion. He had to fight back the lump in his throat.
Atsumu took the bottle gently from him and placed it in the trash.
“You know what you need to do. I don’t need to tell ya that.”
And Osamu knew that Atsumu was right.
But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again / How I wish to God that you were here
Osamu kept walking.
It was all that he could do.
He didn’t even bring his head phones, he was too sleep deprived to remember them. He hadn’t been able to sleep, so he decided a walk might tire him out.
But as he walked it began to rain.
And he kept walking.
He wanted to believe that he was doing this because he deserved it. Like this was his punishment. That’s why he kept walking in the rain, in danger of catching a cold.
But he knew better when he approached the familiar door.
He stood there in front of it for god knows how long. He was about to leave when he saw a light flick on in the house.
Fuck it.
He reached out and knocked.
Then waited.
Then the door opened.
“What?” It was a short word. Clipped, sharp. It stabbed Osamu right in the chest. You were upset. You had every right to be. But all he could do was soak in the sight of you.
You were standing on the other side of the door, clad in your old pajamas. He used to give you shit about those ratty things, about how you both had money to get a new pair. You always just said that they were comfy.
But right now he couldn’t imagine you in something more beautiful.
“Hello?” You sighed and threw a hand on your hip.
Osamu struggled to find the words.
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see / There was something in everything about you
“Can we… can we talk?”
“About what?” You sighed. You looked tired. Exhausted.
“About us… I… I’m sorry… please…” Osamu hated the raw emotion in his voice, but he knew it had come to this. He had to do this. He couldn’t bear another night alone.
You sighed, stepping to the side and motioning for Osamu to come in. “Fine. Talk.”
Osamu walked in and you closed the door behind him. He turned to see you standing at the door impatiently.
Then he began to talk.
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me / I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

Chapter 3
I smiled as I looked at Robert. He looked so hopeful and I realized I was quickly falling for him.
“Yes you get a second date.” I said softly. Robert grinned as he lifted my hand closer to his face. He gently kissed my knuckles before pulling me close and into a tight hug. I grinned madly as I hugged him back.
“I had so much fun tonight.” Robert whispered. “More fun than I’ve had in awhile. Thank you.” I sighed happily as I relaxed more into the hug. Robert pulled away slowly before smiling at me. “How’s tomorrow after work?” I nodded and laughed.
“As long as you don’t ask me to leave early again.” I teased. Robert smirked and took a step forward, blocking me between him and my car. His hand rested on the car door.
“Take tomorrow off.” Robert’s voice dropped. My eyes widened.
“Are you serious?” I gasped. Robert nodded as he took another step towards me.
“I’ll pay your salary.” He reached up and cupped my cheek. I leaned into his touch slightly and bit my lip. “No wait that makes it sound illegal.” He chuckled. I nodded as he started to rub my cheekbone gently. “I’ll buy whatever you want. Even if it goes over what I pay you to work here.” I reached out and put my arms around Robert’s waist. His eyebrow raised.
“You’re really serious about this.” I said with conviction. Robert nodded. “Ok then. I’ll take tomorrow off.” I smiled as Robert reached up to brush some hair back.
“I’ll text you where to meet me.” He said before leaning in to kiss my cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow (Y/N).” Robert pulled back and walked over to his car before backing up and tearing out of the parking lot. I sloughed against my car, grabbing the car door to keep myself from falling to the ground. When I had finally collected myself, I got in my car and drove home. I got ready for bed before plugging in my phone and smiling at the thought of seeing Robert again tomorrow. I decided to text him before going to bed.
‘I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.’ I hit send and settled into bed. I watched as the little dots appeared before being replaced by his message.
‘I can’t wait either.’ I smiled before typing out my response.
‘Anything in particular I should wear?’ I put my phone on my nightstand before turning out the light and settling back down. I reached for my phone as Robert’s text came through.
‘Just dress like you would if you were going to the mall.’ I started to type out my next message when Robert sent another. ‘You might want to bring a bathing suit. I managed to get an agreement with the soon to be ex Mrs. California to have the house for the weekend.’ I giggled at the eye roll emoji he used before adding to my original message.
‘Sounds like a plan. I know just what I’m going to wear. Wait...you have a pool?’ After sending the message I opened my notes and wrote down what I would need to take to Robert’s as I no longer knew what to expect. I also set my alarm for a little later as I did not need to go into work.
‘Yes I do. Well did.’ I smiled as I imagined Robert’s reaction to my text. ‘You better get some rest (Y/N). I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Good night x’
‘Good night Robert x’ I sent before putting my phone back down and settling in for the night. I drifted off with a smile on my face. I woke up to my phone ringing. Blinking at the bright light, I groaned at the time before answering it.
“Hello?” I asked groggily. I rubbed my eyes before flopping on my back.
“(Y/N)? Where are you?” Jim asked. I sighed as I looked at the time again.
“Robert gave me the day off. I was sleeping.” I groaned. I heard Jim chuckle. This wasn’t the first time he had woken me up on one of my days off. “Please tell me that you don’t need me to come in.” I heard murmuring on the other end.
“No. You don’t need to come in. I think we all know why Robert wanted to give you the day off.” Jim sighed. “Andy was just a little concerned. We figured that since the warehouse crew quit…” I cut off Jim.
“Wait what do you mean the warehouse crew quit?” I asked, shocked. “Why did they do that?” I sat up quickly.
“They won the lotto.” I heard Pam answer. “You’re on speaker by the way.” I rolled my eyes at the obvious.
“No I didn’t quit. I have a reason I’m not there and no it isn’t what you think Jim.” I explained. I heard a couple chuckles on the other end.
“It’s ok (Y/N). You can tell us.” Meredith’s voice carried over the line. I rubbed my forehead, urging the oncoming headache to stop before it started. “We won’t tell anyone.” There were groans of protest from everyone before Meredith walked off in a huff.
“So what’s it come to? What did they each win?” I asked as I layed back again.
“Oh man, it’s gotta be over a hundred thousand dollars.” Jim said.
“Awesome.” Pam and I said at the same time.
“Before taxes.” Dwight informed us.
“That’s still a lot of money.” Phyllis reminded everyone.
“What really interests me is the group dynamic of six people winning the lottery.” Oscar said. “This will not end well. Right?”
“Yeah.” Everyone agreed with him.
“We’re looking at at least one suicide and one weird sex thing.” Meredith chimed back in.
“At least.” I said. “Well before everyone starts fantasizing about what they would do with that much money, I’m going to try to get some more sleep before starting my day. I’ll see you all tomorrow.” I hung up my phone and checked the time again. Realizing my alarm would go off soon anyway I turned it off and got out of bed. I sent a quick text to Robert before jumping in the shower. I went as fast as I could and walked back into my bedroom wearing only a towel. I checked my phone and smiled at Robert’s text.
‘Morning sweetheart. I can’t wait to see you later today.’ I wrote down the address he sent in a separate text before replying.
‘I can’t wait either. Although are you sure that you don’t have to deal with the warehouse crew quitting?’ While I waited for his response, I pulled out my bathing suit to pack for later. I looked through my closet for the perfect outfit to wear. Nothing seemed to catch my attention until I reached the black ripped skinny jeans in the back of my closet. I smiled as I pulled them out and looked for a shirt to go with them. A text distracted me from my pursuit.
‘What do you mean the warehouse crew quit?’ I rolled my eyes. Of course everyone at the office would keep it to themselves about the little set back.
‘Jim called me this morning to see if I was a part of the group that won the lottery yesterday. Apparently the warehouse crew won and decided they didn’t need to work at Dunder Mifflin anymore.’ I quickly filled him in before going back to my search for the perfect shirt. I found it and pulled it out. I was halfway through getting ready when Robert texted me again.
‘There. Andy is in charge of it. Problem solved.’ I laughed and decided to call him. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” His voice drifted over my speaker as I finished getting ready.
“You kept distracting me from getting ready. So I solved the problem.” I laughed. Robert’s laugh joined mine and I couldn’t stop the smile that was growing. I put my phone in my back pocket and returned to the closet to pull out some shoes.
“You’re the one who was asking me about work.” Robert teased.
“I know. I know.” I conceded. “I just wanted to make sure that we wouldn’t have to go in when we are supposed to be enjoying ourselves.” There was silence on the other end and I pulled my phone out of my pocket to make sure that I hadn’t accidentally ended the call. I hadn’t. “Robert?” I asked when there was still no response.
“You still want to spend the whole day with me in my soon to be ex-wife’s house?” Robert finally said. “Uninterrupted?” I bit back my giggle, knowing it wouldn’t be helpful in this situation.
“Yes Robert.” I said calmly. “I’ve been looking forward to it actually.” I heard him sigh with relief on the other end.
“How soon can you get here?” he asked. I could hear the tension in his voice.
“I can leave in ten minutes.” I said as I quickly pulled out a pair of combat boots and laced them up. “Are you there already?” I heard a muffled voice on the other end before Robert sighed again.
“Unfortunately.” He muttered. “As much as it pains me I have to go sweetheart. I will see you soon.” I bit my lip as Robert ended the call. I assumed the muffled voice was his soon to be ex-wife and couldn’t help the feeling of jealousy that was bubbling up.
“It’s probably just so he can get the keys.” I murmured to myself as I finished packing my bag. I thought about packing a change of clothes just in case. I shook my head and zipped up the bag. Looking around the room, I pocketed my phone and headed to the front door. I picked up my keys before turning around and walking back into my room. I grumbled as I grabbed another shirt and pair of jeans from the closet and threw them in my bag along with my charger. Zipping it up and shouldering it, I made my way out the front door. I eagerly got into my car and put the address that Robert had given me into the GPS. The entire ride over, I was smiling with excitement as I got out of my car even though there was still a shred of jealousy swimming around in my head. I knocked on the door and bit my lip as I waited. The door opened, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Hi!” I said, nerves making my voice shaky. The woman that opened the door raised an eyebrow and turned back towards the inside of the house.
“Robert! Get your ass over here!” She yelled into the house. I watched as she tapped her nails against the doorframe and I gripped my bag a little tighter. She eyed me as I nervously fidgeted and I gave her a nervous smile. Robert appeared behind her and he gave me a warm smile before turning to look at her.
“What?” he snarked. I bit my lip as he held out his hand for me. I took it and he pulled me into the house. “I told you I was having a guest. This is my guest.” I tried not to giggle as Robert pulled me into him and wrapped his arm around me.
“You can’t be serious.” Robert smirked at the woman that was now blocking the door.
“Oh come on.” He teased. “You’re not jealous are you?” He laughed as he tugged me a little closer. “If you are, that’s just too bad.” He looked her up and down before licking his lips. I kept my eyes on him as the woman who had answered the door scared me. “You made your choice perfectly clear when you chose to bring YOUR date back here the day you knew I would be coming back from Florida.” The woman’s nostrils flared and her face turned red while Robert looked smug. “So if you’d be so kind to leave us the house like you said you would, we have some things to attend to.” Letting go of me, Robert slowly walked towards the woman who kept backing up until she was out of the door. “Good-bye.” He slammed the door in her face before busting up laughing. I smiled at him as he made his way back to me. “That felt so damn good!” he laughed. I shook my head at him.
“How long have you been waiting to do that?” I giggled as I asked. Robert took my bag and hung it over his shoulder. I took his free hand and let him gently pull me through the house. Robert looked over at me with a big grin.
“Probably since a month after we got married.” He shrugged. “I’ll never understand what it was about her that I was attracted to. If I’m being honest it was probably the sex but even that lost whatever it was that made it good.” I moved closer and hugged his arm.
“So why did you stick around so long?” I asked quietly. Robert bit his lip as he pushed a door open and tossed my bag on the bed. He looked down at my arms entwined around his.
“I’m not entirely sure if I’m being honest.” He murmured. “It was probably because she was one of the few people that would put up with me. Or that she never really judged me.” I squeezed his hand and rested my head on his shoulder. “I knew she was sleeping around. Hell I was too.”
“Then why divorce her now?” I asked quietly. Robert turned towards me and gently pulled me over to the bed. Sitting down, he put his hands on my waist. I rested my hands on his shoulders and he looked up at me.
“Something snapped. The last guy,” Robert shook his head. “She brought him back here and I caught them. It was real all of a sudden. It didn’t help that he was an old partner at the company I left for Dunder Mifflin.” I gently gripped the material on his shoulders. “Thing is, I had somehow known it was going to be him. Not some random guy.. He shrugged. “I guess that is the price I pay for basically doing the same thing when I started with her.” My eyes widened and Robert shook his head. “I’m not doing that with you. Me and her were over before I even laid eyes on you. It just took that one event to push us over the finish line. We were already getting a divorce before I met you.”
“You said when you got back from Florida.” I said, confusion spilling into my tone. “But I thought,” Robert cut me off.
“I got back from Florida a week before I met you. I went back down after I arrived at the office and then I came back that day I met you. The divorce was already being worked out before I even arrived at the office.” Robert comforted me. I nodded as he pulled me closer. “(Y/N), I swear it is going to be different between us. No sleeping around. No running around all the time. No cutting you out. If you want to continue this, that is.” I nodded as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
“I want to continue this.” I whispered. Robert smiled up at me. “I believe you. I trust you. And I won’t do any of that to you. Ever.” He pulled me into his lap and I giggled at the action.
“That is incredibly good to hear.” He said as he rested his head against mine. “Do you want to stay the whole weekend? I realized I never actually asked you that.” I laughed as I started to run my fingers through Robert’s hair.
“I’m going to have to go back to my house to grab some extra clothes but yeah. I’d love to spend the weekend here with you.” Robert pressed a kiss to my cheek before hugging me tighter. “It just isn’t fair to leave you all alone in this giant house all weekend.” I teased. Robert chuckled before pulling back from me. “It isn’t!” My voice rose slowly as Robert stood up with me in his arms.
“That’s what you say now.” He teased back as he walked through the house. I saw the backyard through the glass doors. “What about later?” I quickly flung my arms around his neck and held on tightly.
“Robert!” I cried as he started to laugh. “Don’t you dare!” He smiled at me as he adjusted his grip on me.
“Dare what?” He chuckled at my reaction as I attempted to move closer to him.
“At least let me put my bathing suit on!” Robert backed into the door and turned back towards the pool. “Robert, my clothes are going to get all wet!” He laughed as he walked over to the edge of the pool. I tried to maneuver myself so I was on his back instead but Robert’s grip tightened on me.
“Then I’ll put them in the dryer.” Robert said. I held onto him for dear life. “Do you want me to put you down sweetheart?”
“Yes!” I exclaimed. Robert started to drop me. “But not in the…” My sentence was cut off by a splash. I surfaced and Robert laughed as I pushed my hair out of my face. “Pool.” Robert doubled over with laughter and I bit the inside of my lip.
“You should have seen the look on your face.” He gasped out. I bit my lip a little harder before I got an idea.
“Oh yeah?” I asked. “You should see the look on yours.” He looked up at me before he was covered in the miniwave that I created with my arm. I laid back in the water and laughed. Robert wiped the excess water off of his face before smiling down at me. Robert shook his head and chuckled.
“I should have seen that coming.” He shook his head. I moved to the edge of the pool and smiled up at him.
“Yes you should have.” I giggled. Robert squatted down in front of me and brushed a piece of hair off of my cheek. I smiled at him as I pushed back from the wall and carefully reached below the water to pull off my pants. I successfully removed them and tossed them at Robert. They hit his leg and he looked at me in awe. I took the moment of shock to remove my top and threw it at him as well. I ducked below the water to hide my blush and avoid Robert’s reaction. When I broke the surface, I pushed my hair out of my face. I swallowed when I saw the look on Robert’s face. I bit my lip as I watched him slowly unzip his track jacket and take it off.
“If that’s how you want to play it.” He deadpanned. I took in what he looked like and nodded. “Alright then.” He smirked and pulled down his pants before jumping into the pool. I stayed where I was and let him come to me. My cheeks grew even redder as he put his hands on my waist. He kept his eyes level with mine.
“I did not expect you to do that.” I murmured. Robert cocked his head and chewed on the inside of his lip. I noticed he did that a lot when he was thinking.
“Is this alright?” He asked softly. I put my hands on his shoulders as I nodded.
“More than alright.” I said. “I just didn’t expect it. Although with you I should expect the unexpected.” Robert chuckled before gently tugging me towards him. I let him pick me up underwater and wrapped my legs around his waist. I smiled as his hands settled on the small of my back. Robert looked at me lovingly and I blushed under his constant gaze.
“This beats having to deal with the warehouse crew doesn’t it?” He asked. I nodded again as I gently ran my fingers through his slowly curling hair.
“Yeah.” I said absentmindedly. “It does.” Robert smiled gently at me again before leaning in slowly. I stayed where I was and waited. It was like time stood still as he kissed me for the first time. My fingers stopped moving and remained entangled in his hair as his grip tightened on me. Any nerves I had about spending the rest of the weekend with Robert dissipated when we pulled away and looked into each other’s eyes. “That really beats it.” I murmured. Robert smiled and started walking to the wall of the pool.
“I concur.” He said as he sat me on the edge of the pool. I kept my legs wrapped around him and removed my fingers from his hair. We settled into a comfortable silence before I broke it.
“Will there be more of that this weekend?” I asked, my voice coming out small and hopeful. Robert kissed me gently again before answering.
“There will definitely be more of that this weekend.” he said, his breath fanning over my lips. I smiled at the feeling. “And even more of it in the coming weeks.” He kissed me again, almost sealing away the promise of something more to come. We stayed out in the pool, making out and enjoying the warmth of the day. When the sun had moved overhead, we got out of the pool and Robert collected our clothes. He moved through the house with ease and I had to remind myself that he had lived here for awhile before moving into his apartment. “Do you have a change of clothes?” Robert asked as he noticed me in the doorway, still wrapped in the towel that he had given me. I shrugged.
“What if I don’t?” I asked, curious to see what his response would be. He took my hand and led me back to the bedroom. Pulling out his suitcase from under the bed, he took out a shirt and a pair of boxers.
“They’re going to be big but they should work until your clothes are dry at least.” He held them out to me and I gaped at him. “What?” He looked at me confused before trying to put the clothes in my hand. “Don’t you need clothes?” I slowly shook my head and Robert lowered the clothes to the bed.
“I just wanted to see what you would do.” I said. “I didn’t expect you to give me something to wear out of your own suitcase.” He chuckled and picked at a stray string on the shirt.
“Well I wasn’t going to give you something of hers.” He motioned behind him to a closet undoubtedly filled with his ex’s clothes. There was a tense silence that settled over us. “I feel like an idiot now.” He said as he finally looked at me. I shook my head and took the clothes. I kissed his cheek and walked into the ensuite bathroom. I stripped out of my undergarments and put on Robert’s clothes. I used the towel to dry my hair some more before walking back out of the bathroom.
“How do I look?” I asked as I leaned against the doorway. Robert looked over at me before giving me a small smile. He nodded as he took me in and I noticed him biting his lip again. I smiled as I made my way into the room and walked right up to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist before leaning in to kiss him. Robert relaxed into the kiss and let out a small whine as we pulled away. “Thank you.” He nodded slowly.
“It’s awkward isn’t it?” He asked. I cocked my head.
“What is?” I asked. Robert looked around the room.
“Being here instead of my apartment.” He looked back at me. “Or yours.” I shrugged as I ran my hand up his back.
“A little.” I agreed. “But once we get comfortable around each other like this, it won't be as awkward. It’ll be a little rebellious. Making out in your ex’s house and sleeping in her bed. Swimming in her pool and eating her food.” I shrugged again before giving him a quick kiss. “Sounds like fun to me.” Robert chuckled lowly as he pulled me tighter against him.
“Sounds like fun to me too darling.” He said before pulling me onto the bed with him. And it was the most fun weekend I had had in a long time.

This is a request...Shawn gets you a kitten because you’ve begged for one since you get lonely on tour. He immediately regrets it and hates the kitten because it’s“stealing all the attention,” but when you hesitantly leave him in charge of watching it, he warms up to it—ily and your writing btw xx
Author’s Note: This is one of the most adorable things I have ever written so enjoy 3.3k of pure Shawn fluff. Also I was supposed to post this yesterday and then by the time I was back on here it was like 9pm so sorry about that, but it’s here now!
“Pleaseee, Shawn, it’s just a little kitten!”
“No, we’re not getting a kitten, they’re too much work.”
“I’ll take care of it all by myself, you don’t have to do anything! I promise,” you pleaded with him, coming to stand behind him where he was at the kitchen counter making coffee. You sneaked your hands around his body to rest on his muscular chest and squeezed his body tight with your cheek resting against his back, “Pretty pleaseee.”
“No, we don’t need a cat. There’s already two of us living in this place, we don’t need a third.” Ever since you saw the most adorable grey kittens with striking blue eyes yesterday when a friend of yours posted online that she was selling her cat’s litter, you have been obsessed with the idea of having a little bundle of fur to call you own.
“But you always say you want a baby with me, so that doesn’t make any since,” you mumbled into his back, squishing your face into his soft t-shirt.
He sighed, abandoning his cup of coffee in favor of holding your hands against his chest, “We’re not talking about a baby right now, we’re talking about your insane infatuation with these kittens.”
“I know, but if we have a baby then there will be three people living here and that completely goes against your logic. Unless, you don’t want to have a baby with me?”
“Honey, of course I want to have a baby with you, you know this,” Shawn brought your hands up to his lips leaving feather-like kisses on your skin, “But when we have a baby we’re not gonna be living here anymore and you’re gonna have a beautiful ring around that finger of yours. Therefore, my logic still applies.”
You blushed at his words, heart swelling whenever he talked about his future with you so confidently as though he spent every hour of his day thinking about it, “You gonna buy a house for us Mendes?”
“Of course, baby.” He turned around in your hold and placed his forehead on yours while his large hands took purchase upon your hips, “I’m gonna buy you that white cottage home you always talk about with the large backyard for our kids to play in and I’ll build a playset and patio so they can play while we sit and just talk about how much we love each other. Because I’ll still be reminding you every single day how lucky I am to be yours and just how much I love you.”
Your eyes began to well up with tears, smile gracing your face causing Shawn to reach up and wipe them away, “Oh Shawn, I love you so much. I want that with you more than anything in the world.”
“Then good thing it’s gonna happen,” and with that he connected his lips to yours feverishly, leading you to your shared bedroom to show you just how much he loves you.
_____________
The stars sparkled in the night sky, backup dancers to the moon who glowed brightly through the tall windows of the bedroom. Shawn absentmindedly traced his calloused fingers up and down the bare skin of your back as you laid on his chest, relishing in the way your head moved with every breath he took. The room was filled with a comforting silence, only the light breaths coming from the two of you breaking it, and you let your mind wander to how fortunate you were to be able to spend time with your lover before you had to share him with the world, “I still want a kitten.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Shawn groaned, throwing an arm over his face, “I thought you were over this.”
“Of course I’m not over this, I want a kitten.” You leaned your body up to be level with his face, pulling at the arm over his eyes, “Look at me.”
Rolling his eyes, he looked down to be met with your cutest puppy dog eyes he knew he couldn’t resist, “Stop looking at me like that you crazy cat lady. We’re not getting a kitten.”
“You can’t call me a crazy cat lady if you won’t let me get any cats,” you laid back on his chest, nuzzling into his neck as you left soft kisses on his warm skin, “Please bubs, it’s just a kitten. I need one, you’re not gonna be around forever.”
“What are you talking about? Are you planning to kill me off or something?”
“No, not yet at least,” you mumbled, earning a light hearted pinch to your side causing you to squeal at his actions. He kissed your lips through the giggles not being able to get a proper kiss from the smile erupting on his face. You sighed, tracing along the curves of his chest once you pulled back, “I know we don’t like to talk about it, but you’re leaving soon. And then you’re gonna leave again and again and again, whether it’s another tour, promo shoots, interviews, whatever...” Shawn’s heart broke at your words. He always hated leaving you behind, but you always assured him you were perfectly fine when your job prevented you from leaving, constantly telling him how proud you were before he left. He knew it wasn’t the ideal situation to be in and he always felt as though you deserved someone better that could be with you all the time even though you told him time after time again that you didn’t deserve to have someone as perfect as him. You noticed his sudden change in demeanor at your words and you were quick to reassure him, “No bubs, I didn’t mean that in a bad way or anything! You know I’m so proud of you and I would never ever want you to stop all of the touring because it puts the brightest, most adorable smile on your face. Whatever makes you happy makes my heart soar baby I promise. I’m just saying that sometimes when I’m missing you an extra lot, it would be nice to have someone be a stand in cuddle buddy, someone that could hang around the condo with me.”
Shawn sighed in defeat, caressing your skin as he thought about your reasoning, “I’ll think about it.”
You let out a noise of excitement, pressing a loving kiss to his jaw before cuddling back into his arms again.
_____________
“Ok little guy, you’ve got to cooperate with me on this one.” Shawn let out a groan of annoyance as the grey little kitten escaped his grasp once again before he could put the lid on the box. You were due to come home from work any minute now and he couldn’t even imagine how much you would tease him if you saw him running around with his long limbs trying to catch the little ball of fur. Finally managing to pick him up, Shawn placed him carefully into the large gift box with a red bow on top, ensuring that none of the air holes he had poked into the lid were covered.
“Bubba, I’m home!” The sound of your voice snapped Shawn out of his thoughts and he took a deep breath before sitting on the bed with the box on his lap, “Ok buddy it’s go time.”
“Shawn, are you home?”
“In the bedroom honey!” he called out, fidgeting on the edge of the bed as he anxiously waited for your head to peek through the door.
“Hey bubs, how was your-” you gasped in surprise when you saw your beautiful boyfriend sitting patiently with a nervous smile on his face, a mysterious box in his hands-”day.”
“Hey baby, it was good, how was yours?”
“It was good, it was good,” you mumbled walking closer to him apprehensively, “What’s in the box?”
“Oh this?” he feigned innocence, looking at the box with furrowed brows as though he wasn’t holding the crown for guiltiest looking man alive right now, “It’s nothing, just something I thought you would like.”
“You got that for me?”
“Of course I did,” he pulled at your hand to have you sit next to him on the bed, keeping one hand steady on the box, “Why don’t you open it?”
Hesitantly, you grasped the lid on the box, lifting it up carefully before dropping it on the ground, hands covering your face in pure joy, “You didn’t.”
“I did, baby. Don’t you want to hold him?”
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” you breathed out as you picked up the adorable creature that was sitting so patiently inside of the box. Tears of joy began to fall from your eyes when you held it to your chest, your whole body filled with so much happiness you didn’t know what to do.
“Awe honey, don’t cry,” Shawn cooed, wrapping his large arms around you as you held the kitten as tight as you could without hurting it.
“I can’t help it I’m so happy,” you cried out leaning into Shawn’s touch, “I thought you said we couldn’t get one.”
“Yeah well, I thought about it a little more and changed my mind after realizing how happy it would make you.”
“I’m so so happy right now thank you, thank you!” You turned your head to meet his lips in a salty kiss that he immediately returned.
“You’re so very welcome baby. What are you gonna name him?”
“What about Oliver? We could call him Ollie for short?”
“Sounds perfect to me. Welcome home Ollie.”
_____________
Shawn stared at his tired face in the bathroom mirror as he brushed his teeth, wanting nothing more than to climb into bed and cuddle his gorgeous girlfriend all night long. It had been a long day at the studio prepping for tour and recording some last minute songs causing him to feel completely spent and worn out. Spitting out the toothpaste, he finished up his routine before finally shutting off the light and making his way to bed. His movements stopped at the edge of the bed when he found you laid on your back, eyes closed with Oliver laying on your chest, gentle purrs coming from his throat. Shawn rolled his eyes, pulling up the covers to move next to you, attempting to move the sleepy kitten from your chest so he could cuddle up to you instead.
“What are you doing?” you mumbled groggily at the feeling of your beloved kitten moving, keeping your eyes shut while managing to bring your arms tighter around him.
“Just trying to get some cuddles, feel like I haven’t held my girl in so long.” Shawn tried to gently pry the kitten from your hands, earning a sound of protest to escape your lips while your eyes opened slowly.
“Get your hands away from the cat, Mendes.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he groaned, “I’m leaving for tour next week and you’re telling me you’d rather cuddle with that thing?”
“That thing? Excuse me this is the most adorable creature in the entire world. Besides it’s just a kitten, it needs love.”
“I need love, too!” your boyfriend whined, wrapping an arm around your waist and shoving his face into your neck in an attempt to hold you in some way, “Can’t believe you’re giving all my love away to a cat.”
“I still love you, stupid, but Oliver is still getting adjusted to us, he needs a little extra love.”
“No, I need extra love! I’m leaving for tour for 3 months and I’m gonna miss you, why don’t I get extra love?” he pouted, looking up at you through his thick lashes. Ever since he got you that kitten 2 weeks ago you’ve been completely attached to it, wanting to spend every second you could with it. Shawn couldn’t help but feel left out when he came home to the two of you cuddling on the couch or when you played with Oliver on the living room floor instead of hanging out with him while he was writing songs in his at home studio. He didn’t know if it was the lack of attention he was suddenly getting or the fact that tour was coming up so soon, but he became jealous of that grey little furball for taking away all his time with his girl.
“Bubs...”
“No, you know what, I didn’t want to cuddle with you anyways.” He released your waist, turning around and rolling towards the edge of his side of the bed, cuddling up to his pillow, “I hate that cat.” His words were muffled into the pillow, but the gasp that left your lips was enough to tell him that you had heard,
“Take that back!”
“No I won’t take it back. I never would have gotten you that cat if I knew you were going to completely ignore me because of it. He’s stealing all of the attention.” Shawn rolled onto his back and from the side of his face you could clearly see the sadness in his eyes even in the dark room. You knew how hard it was for him to leave you and how tiring studio days had been recently and you immediately felt guilty over how much you had been focused on Oliver. Delicately moving the kitten from your chest to the blankets next to you, you scooched closer to Shawn, pressing light kisses to his shoulder.
“I’m sorry baby, I love you so much, I never meant for you to feel this way,” you told him between the kisses you left behind, “Do you wanna hold me and be the big spoon?” You knew on hard days his favorite thing to do was to just hold you tight to him, wanting to keep you close in his hold.
“Please,” he looked at you with hopeful eyes and you turned over to your side of the bed allowing him to wrap you up in his arms and completely take over your body with his tall form. Pulling Oliver into your arms, the three of you fell asleep peacefully with content and full hearts, a loving warmth being passed between your close bodies.
_____________
“It’ll only be a couple hours Shawn, why can’t you just watch him?” Your friends had finally planned a day to go out to lunch together that worked with all of your hectic schedules and you weren’t going to give it up all because your boyfriend was acting like a baby. All you had asked him to do was watch Oliver for a couple hours, but by the way he was acting you would think you asked him to watch a ticking time bomb before it exploded.
“I don’t understand why we can’t just call your mom or something. I’m not cut out for this!” This would be the first time Shawn was left alone with the kitten in question, for when both of you were at work, your mom had been coming over for a couple hours a day until it got used to being alone for a majority of the day.
“Shawn it’s a cat, you just have to play with it and make sure it only does its business inside the litter box. I filled up his food and water so you just have to watch him.”
“But-”
“No buts, I’m going. I’ll text you when I’m on the way back ok? I love you,” you grabbed your purse off the counter while he mumbled an I love you too with some other complaints from behind you. “Oh and Shawn?” his head perked up when you turned back to face him before you walked out the door, “Don’t kill the cat.”
He let out a sigh of defeat once the door closed behind you, staring down at the grey kitten that was sitting at his feet staring back at him, “What are you looking at?” Oliver stayed silent, but Shawn didn’t know what he was honestly expecting the cat to do. He picked him up in his arms, cradling the kitten close to his chest while he made his way towards the couch, “Come on buddy, let me introduce you to hockey.”
For the first half hour everything was fine, Shawn was seated on one end of the couch with Oliver on the other end, the little kitten doing nothing but staring back at him which caused Shawn some discomfort to a degree. “Why do you keep staring at me like that?” “You have no right to be judging me. Not only do you have a human name as a cat, but you also lick your own butthole.” It was after that half hour though that Oliver began to grow tiresome of watching a popstar stare at guys in jerseys skating across the ice and decided to hop down from the couch to find something more entertaining to do.
“Wait, Ollie where are you going?” Shawn panicked, he was finally getting comfortable with the whole just let the cat watch you thing but now that he was starting to move around, Shawn was absolutely clueless. “Um, um,” his eyes fell on the little ball of fluff on a string that you had on the coffee table and he immediately grabbed it, shaking it towards the kitten. “Ollie, Ollie!” He snapped his fingers, gaining the cat’s attention which immediately went to the moving toy in front of him. “Yeah that’s a good boy, come and get it!”
Oliver pounced at the toy causing a laugh to escape Shawn’s mouth as he moved the toy out of his reach. “Come on Ollie, you’ve got it,” he cooed, turning his once deep voice into the baby one he refused to admit he used on all of his baby cousins. Minutes passed and Shawn hardly noticed how much time had passed because he was too focused on how cute Oliver looked as he chased after this simple ball of fluff. The smile never left his face once Oliver successfully caught the toy again before abandoning it in favor of jumping on the couch next to Shawn. He curled up in his lap, tired out from all of the playing, “You tired buddy? Me too, I could really go for a nap right now.” Laying flat on the couch, he maneuvered the kitten until it was resting peacefully on his chest like he has seen you do a million times before, allowing himself to fall into a light sleep with the comforting warmth of Oliver weighing on his body.
_____________
Two hours later you arrived home with a wide smile on your face from all of the fun you had with your friends catching up with one another’s lives. “Shawn, baby, I’m home.” The last thing you expected to find was your boyfriend’s tall, lanky figure stretched out along the couch with a mini kitten curled up to his chest. A content smile graced Shawn’s face, making your heart melt as you approached your two favorite boys. Brushing the curls off of his forehead carefully, you placed a light kiss on his skin before heading towards the kitchen to take care of some dishes you had left from this morning. “Wait don’t go,” Shawn whispered causing you to turn around and return to your place next to him, “Come cuddle with us.”
“I’d never pass up a chance for cuddles.” You gently laid your body on his chest, the little kitten pressed up against your cheek with purrs vibrating through his chest at the love he was getting. As the three of you closed your eyes again, you knew that the little kitten Shawn claimed to hate had managed to completely melt his big heart.

Do It For the Band, Part Four
Fandom: Bleach
Pairing: IchiRuki
Summary: When Tatsuki said she wanted their sophomore album to be the next Rumours, this is NOT what she meant. Band AU. Read Part One, Two, and Three.
Rukia’s sure they’re not crossing any lines.
… Pretty sure.
She’s never been in a band like this before--or, well. A band, period. And from the movies she’s watched, the musician biographies she’s read and the behind-the-album documentaries she’s seen she imagines her group’s closeness is normal. Grabbing a tea and writing in a coffee shop with Chad, meeting up with Tatsuki at bars and picking out cute girls the drummer might like--these sort of things are normal. They’re her friends, after all.
And she doesn’t do much different with Ichigo. It just… Feels different.
Especially when they start spending time together after recording sessions.
They don’t even do anything, really. Mostly just put on a record at Ichigo’s place and talk about their favorite albums. Sometimes they’ll watch a movie together: Rukia on one far end of his tattered, second-hand couch, curled into the arm while Ichigo tries to scrounge something up for dinner in the kitchen behind her.
And… Okay, she’s fallen asleep there. A couple times. But in a completely platonic way. She’ll wake up on his couch with a blanket over her, and Ichigo will walk in and nag at her for sinking the cushions of his couch and she’ll groggily snap back that maybe he should get a new couch then--
She’s stayed late there so often that Ichigo bought her a toothbrush to keep in the bathroom (“I can smell your morning breath all the way from the bedroom”), but it’s fine because it is! So! Platonic!!!
They’re friends. They’re friends.
She’s (pretty) sure of it.
It’s the end of the recording sessions when they go to her place because she had forgotten the champagne she meant to bring for celebrating their last day. The recording studio happened to be only a few blocks away, but he insisted on walking back with her to grab them.
(“Shut up and let me be a gentleman” he had grumbled, and Rukia tries to ignore Tatsuki’s stare piercing them both).
They had just finished climbing the six stories in her apartment building when she spies the roses at her door.
He scoffs. “Who are those from? Yourself?”
She rolls her eyes, picking up the flowers to read the card attached. “Good one, idiot. No. My brother.”
“Byakuya? What the hell does he want?”
She’s surprised he remembers his name; then again, she supposes she’s mentioned him in passing enough times.
It’s funny: the little details they know about each other by now.
“Don’t talk about him so crudely. I told him about the album awhile ago.”
“Yeah, and you said he never responded.” He waits respectfully in the hallway as she unlocks her door. She immediately starts shuffling through her studio in an attempt to find a vase. “I don’t get why you still talk to him. The guy kicks you out of the house, takes away your allowance you depend on--just because he doesn’t want you to do music? The thing he arranged for you to have lessons for in the first place?”
“You’re oversimplifying it.” She rummages through her cupboards. “He wanted me to go to college for a career--I told him I didn’t want to. I said I wanted to be a musician. He said that was fine, I was a young woman who could make her own decisions… And as such, I’d need to do it on my own. I agreed. I don’t want anybody’s money, and he’s helped me enough as it is.”
“... He should still support you--”
“He does. In his own way.” Her eyes light up at what she’s been looking for: the glass beaker for a French press that broke on her a couple weeks ago. She lifts it with one hand and the roses in the other, a silent question toward him. At Ichigo’s shrug/nod combo, she starts filling the beaker with tap water. “Maybe he doesn’t vocally support it. The creative life is scary. You know that. Technically you wouldn’t want your sisters as starving musicians either, right? But a couple months before I met up with you guys, I was behind on my rent. One day, right before I was sure I was going to get kicked out: my landlord says it was all paid for. Just like that. And I’ve sworn every day, up and down, that my brother’s never going to need to do that for me ever again.”
“He should want to do that for you.”
“I think he does. But I want to make my own way, and he knows that. These flowers are more than kind.” She steps back and assesses her flower arrangement in the beaker, nodding once. Good enough.
He’s uncharacteristically quiet as she grabs the two bottles from her fridge and returns back to the hallway. She’s attempting to lock her front door with the bottles in one arm and keys in the other when he snorts, tapping her wine-carrying arm.
“Here, I’ll take ‘em.” Begrudgingly, she hands them over. “You try to do too much by yourself.”
“Yes, because I have to.” She focuses her attention back on the lock (the door could be rather tricky) when she feels him nudge her arm again.
“No. You really don’t.” She looks back and up at him and suddenly for the first time they feel very, very close. “Look I don’t--the fact that your brother doesn’t know what a fucking phenominal talent you have astounds me. But you have people now. You have me.”
Time completely stops as they stare at each other. Rukia feels frozen in place--but Ichigo is… Well. He looks like he’s only sort of embarrassed at own sentiment, judging from the faint blush on his cheeks--but mostly he seems sure of himself, confident and fearless and golden.
That is Ichigo, she realizes. She’s really never met anyone like him.
She’ll never know what either of them were about to do when suddenly her neighbor’s door swings open behind him.
The sound jolts them both, and her elderly neighbor smiles apologetically. She waves, and when she looks back at him Ichigo is looking down at his shoes, clearing his throat.
“Hurry up ‘n lock the door. The others are waiting for us--especially Tatsuki. You know how stoked she was when you told her about the champagne.”
Rukia nods and tries to shake the odd feeling that an opportunity was just missed.
---
They’re getting a tour.
Tatsuki is in euphorics. They’re getting a fucking tour.
Urahara says they’re starting small--mostly because the label wants to test the waters on them. Just four cities, fronting for a rock band called Espada. They’re all kind of douchey assholes but it doesn’t even matter. She knows her band is better, and in just a few years they’ll be begging to front for Karakura Soul Society.
 Still, even though it’s a small tour Tatsuki manages to sweet talk Urahara into hiring her good friend as their stage manager. “We need somebody to keep us organized back there. Help us sound check and everything, you know? And frankly, Urahara… You’re a mess.”
… It becomes clear to the team within the first ten minutes of her employment that Orihime Inoue is also, as it happens, a disaster--but she’s bubbly and ambitious and works hard and Tatsuki may be not-so-secretly in love with her so of course everyone loves her immediately, too.
Once they’re on the road, the whole tour itself is kind of a blur. Their first city is… Decent. They sound great, but there’s some tech issues that Orihime apologizes profusely for. Grimmjow, the lead singer of Espada says something snide about “fucking yuppies” and Ichigo and Tatsuki both have to be held back from absolutely pulvarizing the cocky motherfucker--but yeah it’s decent.
 At least, Urahara points out, it adds a bit of a competitive edge between the two bands.
He’s right. The next couple cities they absolutely kill it.
With Chad’s shredding it on his base and Tatsuki  feeling like a God at her drums--the two of them alone would be something to contend with.
But combined with Ichigo and Rukia…
Tatsuki doesn’t know what’s going on between them, and frankly: she doesn’t care anymore. She’s decided it’s none of her business whether her best friend is getting his brains screwed out or if they really are “just friends,” as Rukia insists.
What matters is what’s going right here, right in the performance.
As usual, they are so in sync with each other it’s scary--but now, there’s emotion too. There’s an electric energy when they sing the chorus to Fullbringer, a deep melancholy when they harmonize on Masaki. The band is only able to perform about five of their songs, but they’ve arranged the order so the audience gets to go through a journey--and it all ends on Sun and Moon.
It’s easily their best crowd pleaser, and for good reason.
It sounds cheesy, but there is such an upbeat joy to the song that even scowl-loving Ichigo grins during its entirety, and Rukia--always so poised--bounces at her keyboard, bopping her head to the beat. The bridge is absolutely wild, and the whole thing moves so fast that Tatsuki is going harder at her drums than she ever has. It was a bitch to practice, but man. Man does it it fucking end a show.
At the end of Espada’s last show, the crowd demands an encore… From their front band.
“Eat shit,” Grimmjow hisses as they unexpectedly make their way back to the stage, and Tatsuki knows for an asshole like him to be this pissed: it’s a compliment.
---
They’re feeling so pumped about the whole tour that at the end of that encore, even Chad agrees to go out to a nearby pub to celebrate.
The group is on Cloud 9 as they float into the semi-crowded bar, and Tatsuki feels even more of a high when some of the patrons--fresh from the show--cheer as they enter. A guy orders the band shots, and from that point on things get… Uh. Kind of blurry.
Chad does manage to escape early, but not before she challenges him to a game of who can drink a pint faster. Orihime glows next to her as she sips her own fruity cocktail, cheering Tatsuki on in a way that makes her feel powerful even when she loses. Occasionally she catches her friend glancing over at Ichigo with a soft smile that Tatsuki… Doesn’t really want to notice right now. She’s having such a good time, so for what?
 Urahara floats, chuckling behind his fan about this and that--leading to a brief debate between Ichigo and Tatsuki whether he’s high, drunk, or both. Rukia pops up out of nowhere, offering a convincing argument of: neither. Urahara is just fucking batshit.
Ichigo and Tatsuki stare at the unexpected profanity.
“What?” Rukia’s face is flushed, and she tries (unsuccessfully) to look like she has the decency to be embarrassed. Suddenly, she grins toothily, grabbing Ichigo’s hand and dragging him to the bar corner’s jukebox. “C’mon, idiot. You’re helping me pick out a song.”
Tatsuki doesn’t pay much more attention to the two after that--she’s too busy getting another drink, getting Orihime another drink, seeing if she can get Urahara to confess he’s committed at least one felony in his lifetime, and if so which one--but she happens to overhear their conversation at one point when they’re getting drinks.
“... Swift is a stellar songwriter, Kurosaki. I’m telling you--”
“Come oooooon--”
“No, you--you come on, Ichigo. Ichigo Kurosaki.” Rukia pokes her finger at Ichigo’s chest, and Tatsuki sees him failing to hide a smile. “She had a… Taylor has iffy periods, of course she does. But have you… Have you even listened to the lyrics of Blank Space?
“Whassat?”
“You’ve heard that song, don’t you--don’t you even start--”
Tatsuki rolls her eyes and takes her leave. Listening to drunk straight people flirt is excruciating.
Still: whether it’s from the warm buzz of alcohol or the general high of the good night or her just loving her friends… She’s happy for them.
When she leaves, Blank Space is blaring from the jukebox. She looks back to see Rukia and Ichigo intimately close. Rukia is beaming up at him, shouting over the music that she can only imagine is the song lyrics. Ichigo’s body is curved toward her, watching and bobbing his head with a soft smile.
Good for them, Tatsuki thinks dreamily before immediately finding a dumpster to throw up in.

feel like a dream - part 1.
ship ! kim taehyung x min yoongi ( taegi )
genre ! fluff, a bit of angst i think, surely nostalgic, spirited away!au.
warnings ! mention of pills, mention of coma.
taehyung stepped into the meadow with the gentle breeze as his guide. with every step he took, there were wild flowers and soft grass there to cushion his feet. the air smelled sweet; the aroma of roses and lilies drifted in the air lightly and the sweet fragrance tickled his nostrils. the boy felt his lips stretch into a smile as his gaze rested on the peach colored sky. faint streaks of clouds were brushed into the distant horizon, and he spotted the vague outlines of birds soaring high up in the limitless sky.
he walked further, his legs carrying his towards a large oak tree that stood serenely by a calm river just a couple of meters away from him. something told him that he was there waiting.
taehyung arrived at the roots of the tall tree, but there was no one around. maybe he was somewhere else? he walked up to the river and looked down at his reflection in the crystal water. there were little pebbles of varying colors lying at the bottom of the shallow river. a smile touched his lips at the sight of several little fish swimming past.
taehyung stared at the creatures in wonder for a while, until he heard some shuffling behind and then he realized that his reflection wasn’t alone anymore.
« how’d you know i’d be here? » the man asked in an amused tone.
he simply shrugged. « i had a feeling. it was pretty obvious though. »
« you’re the one who said you didn’t like playing hide-and-seek. »
« yeah, i like it when you’re not scaring the lights out of me all the time. »
« but you know, i haven’t heard you scream in a long while » he chuckled, moving closer to him. he snaked his arms around his waist and rested his head on his. he made no move to turn around. he watched their reflections in the river and grinned when he saw his cheeky smile. « i missed you » he murmured.
« it’s only been a day » taehyung laughed. « and sorry, i’ve been a little more busy with homework lately. finals are coming and i need to study. »
« you still need your rest. »
« i rest a lot more compared to my friends, you know » he pointed out. « but sometimes i wish i could have more time here.. time just seems to pass so quickly. »
« i feel the same, but i understand. i guess it’s just something we will have to live with for as long as i am unable to physically meet you again. »
« you never told me why. »
« it’s a reason that i myself don’t know. »
« i see.. »
« well, what do you want to do today? »
« i don’t have much time here. i set my alarm to wake me up in fifteen minutes because i still have work to do. »
« but you’ll be back tonight, right? »
« of course » he smiled. « i’ll be back. »
« well then, i think our time is almost up. so i’ll leave you with this before you leave. » he let go of taehyung and turned him around before leaning in and gently planting a tender kiss on the forehead. « good luck with your duties. see you soon. »
« don’t miss me too much when i’m gone » he giggled.
and then, the world around him faded away.
-
taehyung woke up with a start to the beeping of her alarm. groggily, he reached an arm over and made a slip-shod attempt to turn it off by whacking it. after three misses, he managed to turn it off and keep lying down in bed for a moment more before swinging the covers off and standing up. taehyung stretched a bit before heading to his study table. stacks of notes were piled on it, along with his pens and highlighters strewn here and there in random corners.
taehyung felt dread rise in his chest when his gaze fell on the readings that he had been looking at earlier before deciding a nap would help him to concentrate. statistics and numbers had never been his sort of thing. to be honest, taehyung felt that his brain could explode from the overloading of information.
a knock came on the door, then his door creaked open as his mother peered in. « tae, do you need me to make you some warm milk? you look tired.. »
« just woke up from a nap » he replied. « or how about some coffee? »
« if you drink it so late, you won’t be able to sleep later. i think i’ll just get warm milk for you, okay? »
« okay~ thanks, mom. »
« no problem. just don’t stress yourself out too much.»
« what makes you think i’m stressing out? you’re the one always complaining about my extravagant sleeping habits. »
« that’s true. then if you’re not that tired, why don’t you get that warm milk by yourself? »
taehyung pressed his palms together as a prey and pouted. « please, mom? »
his mother only shook her head in response with a smile on her face before leaving.
taehyung grinned triumphantly to himself as he walked towards his desk and plopped down on his cushioned wheeled chair. he spun it around, sitting in it limply as he stared blankly into space. humming to himself, he allowed his mind to drift briefly to the man from before. already he could feel a small ache in his chest; taehyung longed to see him again. time was always too short in her dreams.
but no, he wasn’t just a figment of his imagination. he was sure of it.
after leaving the spirit world, yoongi practically disappeared. he never showed a sign of crossing over to meet taehyung again, nor was there an opportunity for him to return to the spirit world. he had returned to the same place where he had entered the spirit realm after getting sick and tired of waiting for yoongi, but all that met him was a moss-covered wall.
it was as if everything had just been a dream.
taehyung would have thought just that, if it weren’t for the strange purple hair tie that he remembered was given to him by a certain kind, old witch he met before, and his strong gut feeling that the vague memories in his head weren’t conjured up by his brain.
and just like that, three years passed without an indication of yoongi’s presence or existence, but then one night, everything changed.
that night, taehyung had gone for a hot bath after club activities ended at eight in the evening. his mind had been blank — he had been too tired to think about anything else other than how soft and fluffy his bed was — and so immediately after showering, without bothering to head down for dinner, he had immediately stalked into the bedroom, switched off the lights, and plopped onto the bed. with his wet hair stuck to his forehead and moisture from his wet towel seeping into his pajamas, he had conked out almost instantly.
correction, his body did, but not his mind.
taehyung had no idea how or when he arrived at that place. all he knew was that yoongi was there, and they could finally meet once more, at the same place they first met.
and that was enough for him.
ever since then, every night without fail, taehyung would enter the spirit realm through his dreams, and every night without fail, he would meet him.
they never ran out of things to talk about or things to do, because every time taehyung seemed to want a change, the next time he came, yoongi would change the setting of his dream. jungles, piers, modern cities, his house, you name anything, and he could bring you there.
taehyung had shared this with his close friend who would never stop teasing him about getting a boyfriend, thinking that he would receive due support in his relationship.
he would have preferred it if his friend had just told him an outright « no », but instead, he received a worse reply « tae, i think he’s just a figment of your imagination. i mean, you can’t possibly think he’s real, right? you’ve only met in your dreams! »
but taehyung stubbornly held on to the belief that he was real. having his parents turned into pigs hadn’t been just a dream; it had been a living nightmare. even if he couldn’t remember most of the details, he clearly remembered the name and the face of the boy who had saved him from it all.
and the promise he made was still vivid in his mind « we’ll meet again sometime.. i promise. »
perhaps when he said that, it didn’t necessarily point to a physical reunion, but taehyung didn’t mind. at least he got to see him again.
-
« finals are officially over! » taehyung exclaimed and leaned back against yoongi’s broad chest in contentment.
he chuckled and wrapped his arms around him. « i’m glad. this means we’ll have more time together, right?»
« yeah, it does. » they were currently sitting on top a hill, which overlooked meadows and plains and winding rivers, though with the lack of light, it was hard to make out anything but vague outlines and shapes of the mountains standing in the far distance. all they could see was the shimmery blanket of night in the sky, with the diamonds resting above shining little light down on them.
« beautiful, aren’t they? » yoongi murmured as he rested his chin on the other's head.
« i could sit here all night and watch them.. » taehyung replied. « they’re so pretty. i wish i could go right up there and pluck one out of the sky. »
« and very conveniently, you have a dragon who can fly right next to you. »
taehyung giggled. « don’t be silly, yoongi. the stars are too high up there. we’ll never reach them. »
« we could always try. »
« it’s impossible. stars are in space, and we can’t possibly go there. »
« what is ‘space’? » he asked.
« it’s a place above the sky that we see now. »
« is it very big? »
« it’s boundless. there’s no end to it. »
« do you suppose heaven is up there? »
« mmh.. i don’t think so. to be honest, i think dreamland is heaven itself. » taehyung had dubbed this strange place ‘dreamland’ long ago, since he could only come in his sleep.
« and i suppose i’m an angel living here. » he chuckled.
« yeah, you’re an angel. one who can fly even without wings » taehyung grinned.
« then what does that make you? » he asked.
taehyung thought about it for a moment. « i guess i’m just a passer-by. just casually passing by heaven every night in my sleep. »
« a passer-by loving an angel? strange, don't you think? »
« well, strange things happen in heaven all the time. »
« indeed, they do. strangest of all is the fact that you can enter. perhaps you’re an angel without knowing it?»
taehyung turned his head around and giggled at the sight of his playful smirk. « i could never be an angel. i don’t have wings. »
« i can change that. » taehyung felt his arms pull away from him and the boy’s bare feet shuffled behind him as he stood up. he turned around, not knowing what to expect.
« get on » the mighty dragon seemed to say. he didn’t need to say it twice. he lifted one of his legs, allowing taehyung to step on it so that he could hoist him up on his back smoothly. once taehyung was on top of his back and holding on to his horns securely, he began to move forward and climbed up into the sky, drawing closer to the stars above.
-
taehyung shuffled into the kitchen while rubbing his eyes. « morning mom, morning dad » he said while yawn.
his father, who was reading newspapers on the couch, peered over at his son with a small frown. « you look terrible. didn’t sleep well? »
« yeah.. »
« but you’ve been sleeping so much after finals ended» the mother said from the kitchen. « eight hours of sleep every night, even naps! are you falling sick? »
taehyung sat down at the dining table and propped his chin up on his elbows. « i’m fine »
« what’s the matter, my kid? » his father had put down his papers and walked over to sit next to him. « got something on your mind? are you worried about your results? they don’t get released so early. »
taehyung only huffed. « it’s not that.. i’m fine, really. nothing’s bothering me at all. »
« mmhmmh » he replied, clearly unconvinced. « need me to bring you to the doctor’s? »
« no thanks, i’m perfectly fine.. i’ll be going back to sleep now. »
« already? » the mom shots a disapproving glance in his direction as he emerged from the kitchen with two hot bowls of ramen. « it’s already one in the afternoon and you just woke up, for god's sake! »
« it’s a saturday. i think i have the time to spare to catch up on my rest » was all taehyung said before trudging back into his bedroom.
taehyung closed the door behind him, muffling the disapproving comments from his parents and then he jumped onto the bed, burying his face in the pillow. « what’s going on? « he muttered to herself in angst. « damn it, this isn’t funny, yoongi. »
taehyung closed his eyes again, sighing and trying his best to fall asleep again. truth be told, his body really didn’t need any more sleep; it was fully awake. but he had to go back to that place and find him.
for weeks, taehyung hadn’t been able to meet yoongi, for some kind of twisted reason. he had even resorted to taking sleeping pills just so he could try to enter that place again.
but each time taehyung closed his eyes, he only saw darkness.
it was as if he had just disappeared altogether.
like everything had just been.. a dream.
-
the brown haired boy took his books up and stuffed them into his backpack. slinging it over his shoulder, he sighed and made his way out of the lecture hall. « tae, do you want a lift? » a friend of him called while waving to get his attention.
« no thanks.. » taehyung replied with a tired smile. then he was gone; quietly made his way out of the dark, quiet campus. not wanting to have his friends catch up to him, he walked briskly out by the front gate and walked down the same road he always took back home.
looking up at the dark blanket of night, taehyung felt tears prick his eyes at the sight of nothingness. it was empty, like a void.
« you promised.. » he murmured shakily. « you can’t just up and leave like that, not when you promised me.. »
he fingered the bracelet on his wrist, continuing to brood in his thoughts. it was not her imagination; it hadn’t been just a dream. everything they had gone through together, they were all real. taehyung felt a familiar ache rise up in her chest as something caught in his throat. had yoongi left because he wasn’t good enough? or was it because he was no longer qualified to stay there?
taehyung shook his head. no. he was just a passer-by, he had always been one.
he was just a boy passing by heaven.
just then, a loud, blaring horn snapped her out of his thoughts. he turned to his right, and only saw a bright, glaring light fill his entire line of sight.
and then, darkness.

If anyone is interested at all... I wrote a story about the “sweet angelic” character. from the TS shorts video
Title: I did not think of a name for this and I have to get ready for work so call it whatever you want. Pairings: LAMP No Warnings needed I don’t believe. This one is pretty chill.
Roman was sound asleep, when the door to the imagination popped open and out stepped a bright eyed, freckled, little wisp of a thing. The boy looked around Romans luxurious bedroom taking in the art and majesty of it all before remembering why he was there.
He walked over to the bed and leaned over the sleeping prince. He gave him a light nudge and smiled giddly as the prince murmured a bit but never fully woke up. He wrinkled his nose and stuck out his tongue a bit ah! he had it! He climbed onto the bed with him and straddled the princes hips and leaned over him.
“Excuse me! im looking for King Creativity!” he all but shouted in the sleeping mans face. That got Romans attention real quick and he shot up so fast he slammed his head on the bookshelf above him. Damn Logan for insisting he install one that close to his bed. He groaned and flopped back down not opening his eyes. “Patton?” he guessed then peaked an eye open. The boy on him giggled and shook his head. “I don’t think so.” He sat up a bit more eyes widening and taking in the boy in front of him, “ w-who are you!?” He demanded, Roman pulling the covers up his body as best he could. The boy shrugged. “wait I know you, aren't you a character from a shorts episode?” Roman asked groggily relaxing a bit. This was too much to deal with before breakfast. “yeah! I’m a little…lost…Someone told me I needed to talk to the king?” Roman sighed “I’m not the king, you must have talked to someone very old in there but…. I’m Prince Roman and the ruler of the light side of the imagination so…I mean you are in the right place.” he assured them rubbing his eyes.
“oh goody!” he bounced a little but paused when a hand came down on his shoulder and he turned to see a very pissed off purple clad man holding a bowl of cereal behind him. “Hi! Who the hell are you?!” he snapped angerly. “Hi! oh! forgive me I was just helping the Prince wake up.” the boy said cheerfully. “whow! Virge nope, nope see my hands? no touchy touchy!” Roman said holding his hands out to show nothing was happening. “Well let me make a few things clear to you about who is and is not allowed to be straddling that prince in that bed.” Virgil growled bending the spoon in his hand so much it broke and fell to the floor. “Easy Vee, but yeah get off me.” Roman gently picked up the boy and set him over to the side of the bed and sat up. “he is just a creation Virge, remember the shorts video a few days ago, that’s why he is here. You’re lost?” The boy nodded his head “my…frenemie was with me but we got separated…and… I’ve been wandering around but I can’t find him and I can’t find….anything… I don’t know where I’m supposed to go…” he said sadly looking down as his lip started to tremble a bit. “oh hey, It’s okay listen, The shorts have a village where they all live It’s on the north side of the main village and up Disney drive, go past the waterfall and there is a fork in the road the right leads to Lego land and the left goes to the village where all the characters who have been in Thomas’ short videos live.” he calmly explained.
Patton and Logan came in a minute later with coffee and stopped short at the door. “ whats going on?” Logan asked observing the situation and taking in their new guest. “ooo whos this now?” Patton asked approaching the boy.  The boy gave him a smile and a wave. “Hi! im new!” “Hi new im dad!” Patton laughed. “whats your real name kiddo?” the boys smile faltered and he looked nervous again. Virgil could feel it in the air slightly and sighed. Gently he waved his hand and letting a calming aroma of lavender to fill the room. The boy took a deep breath and smiled softly again. “I don’t have a name…” he confessed. “Can you give me a name?” he asked Roman hopefully. “well um…I think…perhaps we should just bring you to see Thomas and let him name you.” he suggested patting the boys head. The boys eyes widened . “no! im not going to bother Thomas! he only created me for a short silly video he doesn’t want to see me again!” he blushed. “well actually if you want to get technical Roman created you but Thomas and Roman both worked together to help make you a reality or…a figment of his imagination…It is WAY too early for this…” Logan grumbled. “Still this…doesn’t have to involve him we can just….not do that…I mean what if he decides to just get rid of me all together because I’m making trouble.” he said nervously. “h-have you ever…met Thomas? He is not like that, I was the biggest thorn in his side for the longest time and he still gave me a chance and now we are best friends. He is very forgiving and very sweet, trust me as someone who thought those same thoughts for a lot of years  I can tell you with 100% confidence he will not banish you or hurt you or yell at you or anything you are thinking of.” Virgil explained softly as he gently touched the friendship bracelet on his arm Thomas had made for him. He sat on the bed next to him so he wasn't looming over the newcomer. The boy launched himself into Virgil's arms immediately to hug him. “oh! okay we are doing this now, wow, okay, your okay.” he said wide eyed mouthing ‘what the heck’ to the others behind the boy. “there there come on now lets go see Thomas.” he said patting the guys shoulder. “your SURE he isn’t busy?” he asked one more time. “busy doing what? Watching Parks n Rec in his underwear eating pizza? no your fine come on” Virgil took the guys arm gently leading him to the real world.
“Thomas we have a bit of a dilemma” Logan said as he rose up. The others rose up as well and Thomas we indeed right where Logan said he would be. “see does that look intimidating to you?” Logan asked gesturing to Thomas. “hey guys! want to watch Casper with me? it just started.”  he grinned and sat up pausing the show. “ohhh nostalgia!” Patton about squealed. “whos he?” Thomas asked pointing over to the boy. The boy shook his head and stepped behind Logan a bit. “aw hey no come on its alright, I just wanted to know your name.” Thomas coaxed gently. “I-I don’t have one….Sir…” Virgil snickered at that and Patton lightly smacked him in the back of the head. giving him a scolding look. “whow easy, Thomas is just fine.” he laughed. “so you don’t have a name right I don’t think I ever gave you one. you’re from that short video about characters that I made the other day, where's your friend or lover or whatever?” he asked looking around. “I don’t know they are lost somewhere in the imagination too I think.” “fear not, for we are going to find them later when I escort him to the village for the short video characters.” Roman explained. “See there ya go, Roman will take care of you, he is a smart and savvy prince and my hero.” Thomas said smiling softly. “Roman you’re blushing.” the bespeckled man whispered. “shut up” he murmured back not breaking eye contact with Thomas. “So does that offer still stand to watch the movie?” Patton asked hopping a bit excitedly. “ sure absolutely come on over and find a spot.” They all clamored over and got comfy as Thomas hit play on the TV. The boy had never watched anything before and was completely enamored. bouncing giddly at some parts and looking slightly frightened at others.
When it was over Virgil and Patton were asleep snuggled up on the couch and Logan was leaning on Roman barely awake. “are you awake love?” Roman murmured. “mmhmm” Logan replied but never opened his eyes.  Roman smiled and kissed his cheek softly before gently picking him up and laying him on the couch and covering everyone up. “how you feeling dude?” Roman asked the guy. “that was so much fun!” he replied giddy as ever. “thank you so much for inviting me!” he smiled to both Roman and Thomas. “you are very welcome uh…huh we still never gave you a name…” Thomas pondered. The man picked up the movie case and looked at it… can…can it be Casper?“ He asked smiling softly. ”you-  yeah! absolutely! I think that is a wonderful name!“ Thomas smiled. Casper beamed and gave Thomas a hug too. woo this kid was going to give Patton a run for his money as the number one huggy person in the whole Thomasphere. ”Okay Casper lets get you back to the village I bet your…friend? lover?…something is waiting for you and getting worried.“ Roman smiled taking him back into his room and back into the imagination.
”THERE YOU ARE. don’t you ever run off again, I was scared out of my mind!“ the ‘badass hellspawn of a character’ called running over and hugging Casper. ”I’m okay but boy do I have a lot to tell you about. come on. thanks Roman! thank you for everything!“ He took his friend/lovers and gave Roman a wave before walking into the newly formed house in the village.
Roman smiled and made his way back into his room to see everyone had migrated to his bed. good thing it was a king sized.  He sighed and snapped into some PJs and wiggled his way into the middle of his boyfriends. He wrapped an arm around Patton and leaned back on Virgil trying not to put his feet directly on Logan. He sighed as he unsuccessfully fought for some cover. They were so lucky they were all cute. Patton murmured something about cookies and Roman smiled and closed his eyes drifting off to sleep.  The End.

we were fools to think that nothing could go wrong (chapter 3)
Milo woke up from a restless sleep with a jolt, the sound of screaming still ringing faintly in his ears. His heart raced and he was breathing unevenly, each inhale and exhale shallow and shaky. He couldn't bring himself to be more than barely cognizant of the large boulder that had smashed through his bedroom wall at some point in the night, leaving a sizable hole that let the chilly morning air in.
He closed his eyes again, trying to steady his breaths, before he sat up and forced himself to get out of bed.
"C'mon, Murphy, you gotta get going," he murmured groggily, fighting back a yawn.
Once he had climbed down the ladder to the floor (thankfully without incident), he turned his attention to the boulder and let out a small, tired sigh.
It was a bit of a distraction, at least.
"Hey Mom?" he called as he walked to grab clothes from his closet, skirting the near-car-sized rock now sat in the middle of his room.
"Yes?" came her voice faintly from downstairs.
He pulled out a button-up, slightly beat-up body armour, and shorts and began to change into them. "Boulder came through the wall last night!"
"I'll call insurance!" she replied. "Also, breakfast is on the table whenever you're ready!"
"I'll be down in a sec!" He pulled on a sweater vest and grabbed his backpack, which he had packed the night before. "Alright, first day back to school," he said to himself. "Let's make it incredible!"
***
He tried to ignore how his voice shook a little on the last syllable.
"Milo!" came a chorus of voices as he walked up to the bus stop, hands tightly gripping the straps of his backpack.
He grinned as he saw who it was. "Hey Melissa, hey Za— oof!" He was cut off as Melissa rushed to embrace him, lifting him off the ground.
She put him back down. "Thank god you're back! It was getting so boring around here without you."
"Yeah, I think I woulda died if I had to sit through one more history class without anything catching on fire." Zack added. "You feelin' better? You had it pretty rough there for a while."
Milo rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, I'm just a little tired. And my leg's still in a splint, of course, but at least I can walk without crutches now!"
"Oh yeah right, your leg! Didn't it break that when we got knocked out during the fight?" Melissa asked. She and Zack had been for a visit with Milo once while he was still in hospital care, but it had been cut short when a nurse had come in for a routine checkup and kicked them out. They hadn't exactly had time to discuss much beyond how Milo was out of his coma and how they all were glad that everyone was at least somewhat okay. Along with that, the fact that she was half-out when the whole leg-crushing event had transpired made Milo wonder if she had forgotten his leg had been broken entirely.
He assumed he was right, seeing her expression turn mildly embarrassed, as if she'd heard what she'd said and only then realized how it sounded.
He smiled softly at her. "Yeah. I was lucky that I only had my leg hit by that falling wall, unlike you two. That must've hurt."
"Yeah..." she replied, touching the back of her head and grimacing. "Good thing, too, because if you'd been out too we would have been screwed."
"Oh yeah, we heard about what you did, by the way, pulling us to safety after we got knocked out. Thanks for that, man. You... you definitely saved our lives there," Zack said. "And you did it with a broken leg."
"Eh, no biggie," replied Milo, laughing nervously, trying to push the resurfacing memories of the event as far out of his mind as possible. "All that matters is that you guys are fine."
"Dude, you saved us from some big-ass scary mechs while you had a broken leg! Don't sell yourself short," exclaimed Melissa. “If it weren’t for you, we would have been in some deep shit.”
Suddenly, a voice came from behind them. “If it weren’t for Milo, you wouldn’t have needed to be saved in the first place, you know.”
Melissa whirled around, glaring. “Shut your piehole, Bradley.”
Bradley leaned up against the bus stop signpost and shrugged. “I’m just saying, Milo's the whole reason stuff like that happens. Giant killer robots—"
"Mechs." Melissa corrected.
"—mechs, whatever, they don't just show up ready to go on a murderous rampage around normal people!" Bradley crossed his arms. "Half of downtown was destroyed, Melissa, and they're still cleaning up the robot—"
"Mech."
"Shut up. They're still cleaning up the robot carcasses and trying to find the bodies of people who died in the building collapses!"
Uncomfortably vivid flashes of memories from the battle were now rushing back to Milo, and he gulped. "Hey guys..." he said quietly, but he was cut off as Melissa took a step towards Bradley.
"So? None of that is Milo's fault!"
"Everything that could have gone wrong did, Melissa! Our city was invaded by robots from the future who, if I'm remembering their speech from the news correctly, were, oh right, looking for Milo!"
Melissa was beginning to look like she was going to scream. "Oh no, you do not get to blame Milo for this."
"Why not?"
"Because he's not responsible for anything that happened that day! In fact, he probably was the reason more people didn't get hurt! He's certainly the reason Zack and I aren't dead!"
"Guys?" said Milo again. "Could you stop?"
"Without him around there wouldn't have been people endangered in the first place! Him being there caused it!"
"Bradley, I will say this one last time: none of this is Milo's fault! He didn't hurt anyone!"
At that, Milo's face paled. He remembered Cavendish and Dakota's account of the post-battle destruction, remembered the mech he saw destroyed right in front of his own eyes, right after he'd hit it with a bolt of energy he still hadn't figured out how he'd created.
Oh, he definitely hurt some people. Maybe not the people Melissa was referring to, but still...
He wondered if he'd ever stop feeling nauseous whenever he re-remembered that fact.
Probably not.
"Well—"
"Will you two stop!?" Zack exclaimed suddenly. "Some of us don't want to hear it."
The two of them quieted and turned to face him.
He sighed. "Thank you." He then turned to Milo and placed a gentle hand on his arm. "You alright?"
Milo realized he was shaking a little. "Oh, yeah, I— I'm fine."
"Cool. Just take some deep breaths, okay?"
Milo nodded and did as he was told, slowly breathing in and out until he began to feel a little less shaky.
They all stood there in silence for a moment, Melissa still fuming, Zack maintaining a comforting hold on Milo's arm, Bradley repeatedly curling and uncurling his plant hand and sulking, until Chad eventually walked up to join them at the bus stop.
"Hey guys, what's going on?" he asked, breaking the silence.
Melissa sighed as the bus pulled up in front of them. "Shut up, Chad."
"What'd I say?"
***
The morning had been relatively uneventful, which Milo was grateful for, with only one thing in science class exploding when it wasn't supposed to. Sure, the blast knocked the mouse cage off the shelf and let the rodents free, but that was nothing that couldn't be easily dealt with. He could tell Melissa and Bradley were still mad at each other, as they had been intensely refusing to so much as make eye contact all class. He was also pretty sure he'd seen Melissa try to slam the safety goggle box closed on Bradley's hand.
As much as he appreciated her standing up for him, he felt a little bad, seeing as he was partially the reason the two of them were angry at each other. Plus, she'd been fuming all morning. That was never fun for anybody. Her fuming sessions were sparse but legendary, and he knew it would be a while before she'd even begin to consider making up with Bradley.
Cliche or not, he really just wished they could all get along.
He also knew from experience that having that safety goggle box slam closed on your hand really hurt. Even Bradley didn't deserve that.
Eventually, lunchtime rolled around, and he, Zack, and Melissa sat down at their regular table to eat. Milo rummaged around in his backpack for a second before pulling out his lunch bag, which was looking a little squished.
"Maybe next time I should pack the anchor nearer to the bottom," he mused to himself as he took his sandwich out of the bag. "Oh well, squished PB&J is just as good as regular PB&J."
"I'd even argue it's better," Zack commented, pulling out his own lunch. "It gives the sandwich character." He emphasized the last word with a quick, vaguely Italian gesture of his hand and a chef's kiss.
Milo laughed, and Melissa cracked a small smile before returning to her fuming.
They sat there, eating in silence for a few minutes after that, before Milo sighed and spoke up.
"Melissa, you don't have to keep being mad at Bradley. Sure, he said some not-so-nice things, but you know I'm used to that by now. Some people just don't get it, and that's okay."
She put down her sandwich and leaned her face against her hand. "I know, it's just—" she made a spluttering noise and waved her free hand around. "He's such a dick! None of that stuff was your fault! It's like he thinks that you control it or something, and then choose to let stuff go wrong! Which is so not true!"
"I know, Melissa."
"It's just— arrrrrgggh!" She pressed her face into her hands and muttered something that Milo couldn't hear but made Zack's eyes widen.
"I'm gonna pretend like I didn't hear you say that," he said, blinking incredulously. "Because holy crap."
"What'd she say?" asked Milo.
Zack shook his head. "I refuse to repeat any of those words." He then leaned as farback in his chair as he could, eyes darting around the room, obviously grasping to find something else they could talk about. "Sooo, uh, hmm... oh!” He leaned forward again. “Imagine if Milo really was able to control Murphy's Law, though! Wouldn't that be wild? It would be like a weird superpower!"
Milo felt like he was going to die, right then and there, but he forced a pained smile. "Yeah, imagine that..." He giggled nervously. "It would be pretty wild."
Melissa perked up. "Yeah, what if you could, like, shoot it all like—" She punched the air in front of her a few times, like she was blasting something. "—pew pew pew! And whatever it hit would get Murphy's Law'd, like with the mech suit you guys used on the pistachions but, like, smaller. And you wouldn't need the Flynn-Fletcher brothers for it." She grinned conspiratorially. "Maybe you could use it to give Bradley a little taste of his own bullshit theory!"
He didn't respond, unable to focus on the words, because for the second time that day, images of the battle with the mechs had begun to flood Milo's head, as hard as he tried to ignore them, only this time he couldn't help but imagine the consequences of hitting Bradley with a bolt of that energy too. Would he be crushed by a collapsing building? Flattened by a falling telephone pole? Would he spontaneously burst into flames?
Would he be hurt, just like every other person he'd hit that day?
"Ex-excuse me," he said, standing up abruptly and beginning to walk away from the table.
"Where're you going?" Zack called after him.
"Washroom," he lied, voice weak, as he hurried away.
By the time he reached his favourite obscured alcove under the back staircase, he could no longer keep the memories of the battle at bay. He leaned back against the wall for support, breaths quickening as the events played out in wicked clarity in his mind. He could see every blast at him and his friends, feel the panic as they were knocked unconscious and the helplessness that followed when he had to stop running and hide. And the last few moments of the battle? He got to see those play out with the knowledge of exactly what he was causing to happen in that moment.
Eventually the memories began to recede, but his heart rate only quickened as he realized he could still feel his hands buzzing uncomfortably. He slowly brought them up, heart dropping as he confirmed what he had feared: they were surrounded by that red glow, small sparks jumping off of them.
He began to feel panicky again. He hated being panicky, too. It made being able to swiftly respond to danger a lot more difficult. Ironically, that made him begin to panic even more. His heart clenched.
Then, without warning, he felt something akin to a static shock travel through him, and a burst of red sparks flew from his hands, a few of them striking things nearby while most of them hit the underside of the stairs above him. He watched one of them hit a light in the stairwell, and the cables attaching it to the ceiling broke with a loud snap, causing the fixture to immediately fall to the ground, knocking over a garbage can nearby and spilling its contents everywhere. Milo cringed, but his attention was quickly stolen by a loud cracking noise from above him. He looked up to see a large crack spreading through the underside of the staircase.
"Uh oh," he breathed, before diving out from under the stairs just as they began to give way. With a school-shaking rumble, the whole flight crumbled and fell to the ground below.
Milo pushed himself to his knees, staring at the rubble in front of him.
There was no denying it anymore. What he had done that day hadn't been a fluke, or a fear-induced hallucination.
That red energy stuff, that focused destruction? It came from him. And now, somehow, he'd unintentionally done it for a second time.
Watching the dust settle in front of him, with his still-tingling hands stuffed into his pockets and the memories of the battle still lingering in his mind, he became acutely aware of how much the idea that he might accidentally keep doing it again terrified him.

Knight of the Forest - Chapter IX
Tumblr media
From where she stood perched on the seamstress’s little crate box, Lillia felt like she was on a pedestal and it frightened her. In a few days she would be standing before the whole court swearing her love and Fidelity to the man of her dreams and she was positive that she would mess up, skip a word or worse, drop something! Wouldn't it be terrible if she tripped over her gown as ser Jaime escorted her to the altar?
Lillia cringed at the thought. At least the wedding ceremony would only be an hour long at the most. She would be married to Loras for the rest of her life! How would she be able to even share a meal with him without saying something stupid? She wished she had had longer to get her nerves under control but when Maya and Oberyn announced that they would be having a long engagement, Lillia and Loras's marriage had been moved from three weeks to three days in the future!
“ you look absolutely stunning my lady,” the seamstress assured her, “ the wedding gown will be ready by tomorrow afternoon! Now for the other dresses.”
Lillia hopped down from the box once the woman finished measuring her and approached the table where the seamstress and her team had drawn up some sketches of different outfits. As was custom, a newlywed bride would be outfitted new gowns for her wedded life but Lillia had somehow managed to swindle Ser Jaime into talking to a few people and instead of thirty separate new outfits, Lillia had managed to only order six. Two everyday dresses, a nightgown, two party dresses and a dress for cold climate.
The girl studied the drawings and she suddenly came to realize why Margaery loved dressing people up against their will. Every one of the dresses were unique in color, design and cut. Lillia knew that Mace Tyrell would be expecting them to be happy in their marriage together even if the love within was one sided and he would expect grandchildren and Lillia knew she would not get pregnant unless she could entice Loras into her bed and what better way to do that than wearing a low cut dress? Or nightgown... But what was the point of an enticing nightgown if Loras was not enticed to join her in her room? So both the nightgown and one of the dresses?
It had better be one of the daily dresses or she would be seen as a regular whore by everyone if she wore a low cut dress to a party. Why was picking outfits out so difficult and trying on the brain!? Finally she snatched up a lovely but simple green dress drawing.
“I like this one.” she told the seamstress.
The woman beamed and went to agree when a third voice cut in and made both Lillia and the seamstress turn. There stood Loras with his arms lazily crossed over his chest and a smirk on his lips as he leant against the door frame.
“I rather like the dress you are wearing at the moment.” he said.
Lillia looked down at her attire and blushed Crimson when she realized what she was wearing. The dress was cut so low and fitted so tightly that her breasts were half visible and pushed up so that they were pronounced. The dress ended at her knees revealing her bare legs and feet and the fabric was so thin that you could see the color of her skin!
“ these are my undergarments!” she squeaked at him, crossing her arms over her chest as the seamstress assisted her in pulling on a very thick cotton robe.
Loras his eyes widen in shock before he smirked, doing a ridiculously good job at not appearing flustered or turned on by the rather revealing outfit that his bride to be was garbed in. He walked over to the two women until he was towering over the very flustered Lillia.
“ well, it is nice to know that my future wife has very tempting taste in nightgowns. Madame, be a dear and select the rest of my lady’s outfits based on what you feel she would like. My lady, would you care to join me on a walk?”
Lillia paused and considered her fiance suspiciously for a moment before she grabbed the dress that she had worn earlier that day and dove behind the curtain to change. She emerged a moment later and followed the beaming Loras out of the room period it was a short calm a quiet walk down the corridor to the battlements and Lillia wondered if Loras had just asked her on a walk for the sake of being nice and not because he actually wished to speak with her.
“ I hope you don't mind that once we are married we may have to live in Kings Landing for some time period I am only a knight and third in line for Highgarden. My father assures me that he has a plan but until I discover if his plan actually exists, we will have to live here.”
Lillia nodded, “that sounds reasonable. I have lived here for a few years and so far I have remained sane alive. After all, Evelyn and Ser Jaime lived here together when they were married for a few months and they also managed to share a room without complaint so I feel that we will be able to manage just fine.”
Loras stopped walking and turned to the girl, “do... do you see us ever being like that? I mean... the perfect couple who love each other's company and share bedroom... do you see us like that?”
Lillia tilted her head as she pondered the question before shrugging, “ I like to imagine us like that but I am not sure if it would be the way that we would live. After all, Willas and Garlan complain daily of your snoring habits in their letters and I do happen to have powers of the earth. I may attack you with your breakfast peas in the morning at the table.”
Loras chuckled and smirked, “you know you love me. You would not want your husband dented now would you?”
Lillia's face went grave. A fine time to use a figure of speech that was more real and true than Loras realized. She tossed her hair over her shoulder and began to walk off.
“ do not underestimate my morning grumpy moods.”
Loras trotted over and caught up to the girl before grabbing her arm and turning her to look at him. “Lillia... you are important to me... you always have been and I would like to think that you care something for me too... I truly wish for this marriage to work out not just because it will make our parents happy because I want you to be happy married to me since I know that I will be happy with you as my wife.”
Lillia smiled softly but felt her heart stop period of course he cared about her even if that was the extent of his affections. He would be happy to wed any girl who would feed him, clothe him and bear him children. It just so happened that she was the girl he would be married to and expect those things from. She reached out and left her arm through his.
“ then let us make the most of this marriage and try to make each other happy.” she suggested.
Loras beamed and cradled her hand with his free one period “deal. On the condition that there will be no modeling of vegetables or by vegetables.”
Lillia giggled and found herself beaming, happier than she had been in a very long time... Even if Loras still did not love her back.
******
“My lady,” the maid Maria called, attempting to rouse the heavy sleeper.
Lillia rolled over from where she had been laying out spread like a pancake on her bed. Her hair was sticking out in all places making it look like a beaver had made its home on her scalp. Maria smiled at the girl’s disheveled state before she began opening the drapes and pulling out the things required to prepare the girl for her day.
“You are getting married today my lady!” the girl said, a huge smile lighting up her face as Lillia swung her legs over the edge of the bed and sat up groggily. “Alice is bringing your wedding dress up in a moment and once you are dressed, we will get your hair styled. What are you considering? Up or down?”
Lillia shrugged as she grabbed her thin lace robe and wrapped it around herself as she yawned, “I am not sure… Marg…Queen Margaery gave me a very detailed explanation of how having your hair up or down can clash with a dress… I am not sure what hairstyle would best suit the gown.”
Maria smiled, “Well then why don’t we get you washed up and we can take the dress to Queen Margaery’s room. That way you can get her opinion and since her chambers are closer to the great hall, you will not have to walk as far in the gown.”
“That sounds perfect,” Lillia stated, beaming at Maria.
About an hour later the girl was wrapped in a thick robe as Maria escorted her down the corridor to Margaery’s room. Tommen had left earlier to discuss the ceremony with Tywin and Cersei and hopefully telling them to not cause a scene. The moment Lillia stepped through the door of the bedroom, Margaery practically threw her into a chair and got Maria and Alice started on doing her hair while Margaery and her handmaiden Rose set about laying out the gown.
“I’m sorry that Maya and Nanteza couldn’t be here for this,” Margaery told the girl when the room became uncommonly silent.
Lillia smiled sadly at her in the mirror as Alice continued to pin up her wild curls. “It’s alright… they had things to do that couldn’t wait.”
After all of her curls were pinned up and out of her face, decorated by beautiful pink peach blossoms from outside Margaery’s bedroom window, the three-woman worked together to slip the gown on from Lillia’s feet up. That is until they realized just how soiled Lillia’s feet were, and they had to take a pitstop to give them a thorough and rather painful scrubbing. After finally getting the dress on and laced up as well as finally finishing buttoning the 200 pearl buttons on the back of the dress, Margaery went digging through her collection of shoes until she found a pair of white sandals. She knew that Lillia hated closed toe shoes as well as heels which ruled out the majority of Margaery’s shoes.
“We should have remembered to tell the seamstress to prepare you shoes as well!” Margaery huffed. “I just forgot because… well…”
“I never wear shoes,” Lillia finished for her.
Margaery chuckled but when she reached into one of her small boxes containing the millions of jewelry pieces she had accumulated, she frowned.
“I can’t find that pin,” she muttered, “You know… the pin you use to help hold two pieces together. It has a needle and then a little cap.”
While Maria and Alice began scouring the whole room for the pin and Rose was trying to keep Margaery from freaking out and bursting into tears, Lillia felt that this was the perfect time to escape the flutter and feathers. After all, she had forgotten her necklace that Jaime had procured for her and she dearly wished to wear it since it would go well with her neckless dress. She trotted down the hallway, the embroidered beads on her long but slender dress tinkling against each other in the absolutely silent corridor. Everyone must be downstairs preparing for the celebration which made the girl both relieved and also terrified.
Lillia paused when she reached her door, hand hovering over the doorhandle. Perhaps if she dropped in and said hello to Loras? She weighed the options. When Lillia had told her mother that it was Northern custom that the groom would not see the bride until she was escorted to the alter since it was bad luck to see the groom or bride on the wedding day, Lysa Arryn had whipped the girl over the knuckles for reading such “trash” and had told her there was no such thing as luck. Lillia pondered whether or not she should hold fast to the custom but decided that since she was definitely in the South, no one would care.
Padding down the hallway in her bare feet, careful as to not trip over the long dress that hugged her curves elegantly, Lillia rapped her knuckles against the door softly. She received no answer so she wondered if Loras was still asleep or perhaps he had already left. Lifting the handle, she poked her head inside.
“Loras?” she called softly.
Lillia heard loud and urgent rustling to her left and she peered around the door, only for her eyes to widen and her hand slip from the handle, allowing the door to swing all the way open. There lying in his bed was Loras, stark naked and at his side… Olyver.
Loras’s eyes were just as wide, if not wider than Lillia’s as he looked upon his bride to be, garbed in creamy white with her curls pulled back neatly to reveal her smooth skin which had suddenly lost all of its usual rosy color. When Loras heard people say that their face “fell”, he had no idea what that necessarily meant until he saw the look on Lillia’s face. It was like her body lost all point of life, her limbs hanging limp, the smile gone from her face but there was no frown there… but disbelief and her eyes no longer were crinkled in joy or pinched in anger… but lax in misery.
“Oh god, Lill…” the man started as he reached for his trousers.
Lillia swung on her heel and surprisingly for a girl in a floor length gown, she was running incredibly fast. When Loras finally managed to get his feet into his trousers and he rushed to the door, there was not a single sign of the girl anywhere. Instead of chasing after her like he knew he should, he went searching for the rest of his clothes and began to snap orders at Olyver to make the bed and make himself scarce.
Meanwhile Lillia tore down the hallway until she reached Margaery’s room and she flew through the door, closing it harshly behind her and leaning against it as her only life support. The three handmaidens and Margaery lifted their heads at the noise but the smiles on their faces melted when they saw the tears streaming down Lillia’s face.
“Oh Lils!” Margaery cried, rushing to the girl’s side and pulling her into a secure hug. “What on earth happened?”
Lillia shook her head and Margaery motioned to the maids to make their exit. Once they were alone, Margaery pulled away and looked Lillia in the eye.
“You need to tell me what happened! Who made you cry?” she insisted.
Lillia sighed shakily as she wiped her face with her bare hands. “If in the next couple of years, your father asks why Loras and I have not had children yet, you have my full permission to tell him that Loras will be banned from my bed chambers until I am 50!”
As Lillia pulled away from Margaery and went hunting in the wash room for some cool water to splash on her face, Margaery groaned. Of all days to mess up Loras, why today? The Tyrell girl stepped out of the bedroom and was just in time to see her beast of a brother running towards her.
“Where is she?” the boy demanded but Margaery crossed her arms over her chest and glared daggers at the lad.
“You’re lucky she didn’t rail you into the ground! You are not allowed to see her until the ceremony and I would not be surprised if she called off the wedding today!”

29. Part 4
Tumblr media
My smile grew just seeing my daughter propped up, Robyn is currently burping her. Her little face is like leave me the hell alone I just want to sleep “it’s ok if the baby brings nothing up, it can happen. Just you need to do that. Imagine your next baby, you could be aiming full term and nine pounds” Gaby said, Robyn gasped “oh no, oh my god. Please let’s not think that far ahead but if she was full term I think she would be a fat baby” I am so in love with my daughter, she looks like a real life angel “she got a little blonde in her hair” I said, Robyn looked at me and then looked at Fenty’ head “you’re right you know, my hair as a child had blondes in it and I’m sure you did too, even now” nodding my head “I do have some, she got that light skinned hair” pushing my hair down laughing “so I am always a phone call away, you can call me at any time. Doctor Wen will see you in five days’ time, if you have any worries then please call and I can help you over the phone or I will come to you. Every three to two hours, breast feed. So try and wake up, get into that motion of doing it” Gaby breathed out smiling “I shall go and have some rest, I want you both to get the same. She will be sleeping lots now, but she seems to be ever so alert. And I can’t wait for the documentary to come out, then all my friends will have questions, I just delivered Rihanna and Chris Brown baby” Gaby got up from the couch “it’s been a pleasure, you have both done so great. And Chris, believe in yourself, you can do it ok?” Getting up front he couch smiling “thanks, you have been great and yeah, once it comes out you can speak on it. If we have another, and I say if, you will be the first” Gaby cooed out “I will hopefully be here still but rest now, just like this little one” let me walk Gaby out, I think we are all pretty tired “are you going to sleep now?” Monica asked “yeah, I’m gonna help Robyn to go to sleep, well if she is ok anyways” Monica smiled a little as I walked off to see Gaby out, she has been a good help.
Walking back into the living room after helping Gaby out with her things, my eyes are actually burning but I lost sleep for all the right reasons, I witnessed my daughter being born “if you cry then I will cry mom” Robyn said, waking around the couch seeing Monica holding Fenty “she is my first grandchild, I can’t stop crying” Monica is really crying, she is in shock “I didn’t think I would be able to witness such love with my diaghter, to witness such happiness. Robyn she reminds me of you, you were born and you were just like this. You were a big baby too; your father was so happy. Perfection, he was more excited to see you. He said she is my special baby, he knew you was going to be greatness and holding Fenty, I can feel it. She’s going to be destined for greatness with much love and life lessons, she is so blessed to have you both as her parents. The love you both will show her and will make her feel, she’s lucky. I’m so emotional, and she is perfect in every way. Look at her hands, her perfect little nose, Robby had the same nose, your eye colour was a little dark before it came through but I am in love, so I love” I can tell with Monica, she is such a proud mother right now, she’s in awe with baby Fenty “you both need to sleep, take her upstairs. If she does play up, I will be here” looking at Robyn, she is still glowing. It’s like her body is getting back to normal “take her up for me Chris, please” my eyes widened “come on now, you can do it” I have to carry my newborn all by myself “but you need help upstairs?” I want to help Robyn “I will be fine, just leave me and my leaky boobs. We will be behind you both” taking in a deep breath.
I was ever so careful, each step I took, I just was slow with it. I made it up with Fenty not even moving a muscle, she was snug in my arms “took your time” Robyn took the elevator and I took the stairs, I refused to go in there because what if it broke and we were stuck there, I didn’t want my daughter’ first moment being that so I made the trek up the stairs “I know, I just wanted to be ever so careful, she is important to me, just like you are” reaching the top, Robyn smiled at me “this is weird, we have a baby now with us. I want you to sleep also, we need it. And you do need it too” nodding my head “I will, I am just so in love right now Robyn. Just look at her, she is just in peace in my arms. She knows me, you think she does?” her little balled up fist “I think she senses how annoying you are, does it scare you that my mom said she looks like me?” Robyn chuckled, but to be honest that is scary “I am scared but also happy, she is going to love it. She is going to be thinking thank god I look like my momma” Robyn opened the bedroom door for us “I am going to straight to sleep, I set my alarm to hopefully wake me. I just put it on vibrate because I don’t want to scare her, but I have so much to do. So many messages to get by and also announce it on my side” furrowing my eyebrows “Robyn, relax. Please. This doesn’t need to happen; you do not need to be worrying about that right now ok?” I want her to rest, she is here worrying about that “I am not worrying about what people think I just want to get the news out there, and then I can just be like whatever. Fenty is perfect, she is the perfect baby. I am so in love with her, more so the fact I am in love with seeing you with her, to see my daughter have a father like you Chris. She is blessed, I am blessed” Robyn is making me blush, that is too sweet “thank you” I mumbled.
I feel on high alert, my eyes shot open hearing a slight whine from Fenty, she sounds like a kitten, and she literally just started when I put her in the crib and then Robyn fell asleep, I jumped out of bed. This has to be the best gift to me, like I feel a whole new love towards someone. I mean Robyn is always number one, but she is my next, I hope she loves me just as much, but I think she does. Walking over to the crib, Fenty went a little silent, she probably knows but her little eyes are just there adjusting. Picking her out of the crib and bringing her close to my chest “you were all quiet in my arms wasn’t you, your momma doesn’t want me to be awake. I have to be asleep but now I am too excited, I just want to keep holding you, to keep loving you. I just love you bae, you my bae” Fenty smirked, she did smirk and I am not crazy at all but she closed her eyes again “you want to be close to me, I get it. Maybe I can have you in bed with me, we sleep together” climbing into the bed carefully, the more I hold her the more I am just finding it a breeze “Royalty is going to love you, she will think you’re a doll, she will spoil you so much with love” sitting back against the headboard “there you go” shuffling down a little as I placed Fenty against my chest, let her sleep there she is happy there. She has her happy place and that is here, just near my heart.
I remained awake with Fenty sleeping, I don’t mind. I will lose sleep for her “what” Robyn said groggily “huh” looking over at Robyn, moving my eyes away from the TV “you bought her to bed?” Robyn smiled “yeah, she did wake up and then I just did this and look at her. She is at peace, she wants to snuggle and I am it” Robyn snorted laughing “until she recognizes the ugly tattoos, she will not want that snuggle anymore” I gasped “wow, you’re clearly ok now ain’t you” Robyn hissed “just about but I need to feed her, I want to be on time and I want to be perfect for her. I don’t want her to be hungry now” nodding my head “she is literally such a sweet baby, look at how comfortable she is. Just at peace, I feel like she is going to be so relaxed about everything and that is thanks to us” Robyn smiled “you right, when I held her. I just felt whole, like everything I have done in life didn’t amount to this, this was the moment for me. This is what I wanted and craved, I love her and she is lucky to have us, the love we will give her she will drown in it” Robyn is right, we will show her too much loving, she will want us to let her breathe.
I am hype, not going to lie. I can’t sleep so I came downstairs and also I didn’t want to sleep because then tonight I won’t sleep for Christmas day with my ladies, I want us to be up but with Robyn she needs to rest it out, she needs that rest anyways “afternoon” Monica is cleaning “let me help you out with this” I said to her, she has done most of it “I wanted it to be clean before she came down, I did it all mostly” picking up the couch with her “you a strong woman, trying to pick this up” I laughed “I try Chris, I am just so happy. I have had so many calls. They want to see her, we thinking on doing a big video call to the family” nodding my head as I lifted the couch with Monica “why not, I think it’s something that needs to happen, the family want to see her. It is better then passing picture. I don’t know what Robyn wants to do in regards to showing her off so we need to wait it out” putting the couch down “I can’t believe how strong my daughter is, she is such a strong woman” nodding my head smiling, Monica is right because Robyn is and she did so well “Rorrey said he wants to apologise to you, and he said congratulations” nodding my head slowly “I ain’t got no issues, it’s always someone having a issue with me, I don’t be doing anything but if he wants too then that is ok. Robyn wants her family, they was just breaking it up, you know” rubbing the back of my neck “I understand” I am sure that will make Robyn happy but I will still watch him, I don’t trust his ass at all because he is a fuck nigga. My phone started ringing in my pocket, I have been generally ignoring my phone but I just put it on loud now, seeing the caller ID and it’s my sister, I mean I have been ignoring my mother’ calls “hey” answering the call “Happy Christmas to you too little brother and I guess congratulations are in order too” frowning a little “I guess?” I said, what she mean by that “you ran off to London and didn’t even think of letting me know or at least” I laughed “because you’re deluded like mom, she is the one just there putting shit in your mind” I know what my mom is like “I wouldn’t say that, she is just concerned. You get so deep into Robyn that things go messy with each other; look I am happy for you. You look so happy and in love in that picture” nodding my head “thanks anyways, I have to go now” disconnecting the call, I don’t need them.
Smiling at Robyn, she has come downstairs with Fenty, Robyn looks so well like she didn’t just give birth “I was going to come and check on you” I was eventually “were you really, I come down and see you all. I couldn’t sleep any longer” Robyn leaned down to me, pressing a kiss to my lips “you look different now, don’t you think Dennis? I am not crazy am I?” Robyn chuckled as she moved back and started rocking Fenty “I would say you are giving me MILF vibes, very much a mother vibe. You are so vibrant though, you feel good?” Dennis asked “I feel good, I mean a few pains here and there. I am wearing a pad, but I don’t feel like shit, I am very much in control of me. I just fed her and then thought we would come down and see everyone, my mobile is a nightmare. Is it the same here?” nodding my head “Dennis and I have been trying to answer things, we together sent out pictures to your Fenty Corp team, each to post” Robyn gasped “which ones did you pick Chris?” I hope she agrees “a picture from behind you in the birthing pool, another with our hands holding, and the one of us two walking when you were having your contractions. Not too in depth, we thought we would keep that to you. We made headline news too, we trended on Twitter, also Instagram froze when I posted the picture and it’s near got ten million likes, my post!” I half shouted “awww, people are happy for us in a weird way” Robyn wants to work, I can tell with the way she is. She is stood thinking, she never stops “just sit please, stop thinking” I laughed, she makes me laugh when she is constantly just working.
I love the pictures she has chosen to post, I didn’t think she would pick the picture of me holding Fenty just out of the pool, my face is in shock that I did it “I just love the way you are just shocked, it’s just a moment. A fucking moment Dennis got, I want it framed, you can’t even predict that. You delivered her Chris, that is a lot. I find the picture very poetic, so I do want that to be the main picture of you. I also want that framed, and something I will cherish Chris. I was so in the moment that I did see you was doing something, but my contractions were hitting me so bad, so I didn’t see it but honestly, I love this and thank you Chris. My husband” it was nice of Robyn to say that about me “thank you my love” I grinned “so yes, that as my main picture. Also the picture of my mom and I when I was crying. And then the one where I am holding Fenty and crying” raising an eyebrow “it just shows my emotions, it shows why I am so happy right now, you know. These pictures mean a lot and yeah” I am in awe with Robyn, she is my whole heart “that is cool, so to the caption” Dennis said “start with, I came from a black woman, who came from a black woman and today I gave birth to a black woman. At four twenty Fenty Clara Brown came into the world, with the help of her father. I am overwhelmed and I will now be bonding with my princess, thank you for the love” Robyn’ caption is cute, better than mine anyways, but I expected that.
Sitting back on the couch next to Robyn, they are doing that family skype call thing which we are waiting to connect “oh my god! Bitch!” Mel shouted and then she covered her face “don’t cry Mel, she can’t wait to meet you” Robyn said, Mel is crying “I can’t even, like to see you in that way. You’re a whole ass mother” Mel wiped her tears “I am so happy for you, oh my god. Look at her in your arms Robyn, I can’t wait to see her” someone else connected “hey” Rajad and Rorrey said in unison “oh shit! My sister is a mother, let me see my niece” Rorrey said “Robyn, how are you?” I didn’t notice Ronald there “congratulations to you Chris” Rorrey said my name, that must have hurt him “thank you” I want to be nice of course, I ain’t going to be here being rude about it “I appreciate to hear how much you taken care of my sister, my mom sings the highest praises for you and I know mommy wouldn’t lie, she would tell the truth and she said that you are the best and I love to hear that” nodding my head smiling “aye, Chris out here delivering babies though. My god!” Mel said which made me laugh, seeing more of the family enter the skype call, they are all screaming. They all scream when they see Robyn with our daughter in her arms.
Lightly touching Fenty’ forehead, she is asleep like it’s nothing and I have never seen such good hair on a baby, I don’t think new-borns are cure but Fenty, she is so perfect “Chris was a big help, I was in so much pain and then he just helped me deliver her. He literally held her and bought up to me, I was just crying in pain. But Chris was a big help to me, to us. And I appreciate him” looking up at Robyn, she is complimenting me to her family “Chris delivering babies now, well hey! That is so sweet to hear, to hear he was there. I just want to hold her; she is so light skinned. Seeing her through this camera she is so white” Mel said trying to see “anyways family! I want a picture of the screen so can you all smile!” Mel said as she aimed her phone at the screen “and don’t worry they can’t see my niece, she too white for the camera” I laughed, my daughter ain’t that light skinned “she got blonde hairs too, ashy blonde” maybe Mel is right “Robyn’ hair is that! She got all Robyn in her, listen. I want a photo of she, you better send it now. We family” Robyn is being very fussy with what she sends “I will, just that, I don’t want my daughter being on the internet and being sold for the first release of pictures, you know. But I will send you all a picture of her” I don’t think she will get away with not sending anything.

Marry Me (Part 10)
Tumblr media
Ricky Horror X Reader
Warnings: Language
"Daddy! (Y/N)!"
Ricky jerks awake, and you stir, lifting your head sleepily.
"What is it, baby?" Ricky asks groggily, rubbing his eyes as he tries to straighten, only to realize you're holding him down. You must have fallen asleep on the sofa, no wonder he feels so stiff and achy.
"I'm hungry." Chloe peers at the two of you from the arm of the couch, her arms crossed over her chest as she looks back and forth. "I couldn't find any pancakes."
Pancakes?
You rub your eyes as you sit up, still feeling tired but not absolutely terrible like you did yesterday. Apparently your stomach bug was just a 24 hour thing, for which you're grateful. Chloe seems fine too if she's asking for pancakes, which does sound good to you. Do you have any mix? You'd have to google how to put it together if you don't.
"I'll make you some," Ricky clears his throat, getting to his feet slowly and rubbing his lower back. He's never slept on your couch before, but in that position, it's definitely not good for his posture. He offers you his hand, helping pull you up, Chloe grabbing your blanket as it falls to the floor and tossing it back onto the sofa. "What time is it?"
"Around six thirty," you yawn, eyeballing the bathroom. You didn't even set an alarm, you could have been late opening the shop! You're relieved Chloe woke you up when she did.
Did Chloe sleep the entire night? Why didn't she wake either of you up if she didn't? How long has she been up? You can't believe you fell asleep on Ricky, that wasn't your intention, although you did snooze pretty well honestly. More than likely because you were sick and dying, not because he's warm and comfortable.
"I wanna help," Chloe follows Ricky towards the kitchen, who hastily remembers to move his sneakers under the coffee table so you don't trip over them in a few minutes. He lets her get the mixing bowl and utensils out as he finds the pancake mix, wondering if the strawberries are still decent enough to put on top of the food. Where's the syrup?
He's still so tired he doesn't think he remembers how to make anything. He brushes his black hair behind his ears, glancing down at the little girl concentrating on pouring the white powder out of the blue box, letting way too much fall into the bowl. She hasn't brushed her hair yet, he can tell by the way it's laying, and is she wearing his house shoes?
He glances at the bathroom door as he hears the shower turn on, sighing before he turns his attention back to breakfast. He manages to get just enough pancakes made for Chloe to sit down and eat before you call for him.
Huh?
"What?" He hesitates, turning off the stove and trying to listen to what you said.
"Where are the towels?"
Oh!
Well, as far as he knows, they should be in the bathroom, but he'll check the linen closet. He keeps an eye on Chloe as he leaves, seeing her legs swinging back and forth at the kitchen table as she eats, humming to herself. He'll have to make sure she brushes her teeth after he brushes her hair so she doesn't look like she just crawled out of a hole, and get her dressed for the day. He guesses he'll just be taking her to work with him when she gets out of school, the guys don't usually mind since she just likes coloring at the table and the producer always gives her candy when she thinks Ricky isn't looking.
"Here's some," Ricky nudges the bathroom door open, offering the towel without looking as steam starts to billow through the opening. He can't wait until you're out and he can run through, he hates he's still wearing yesterdays clothes and for some reason smells like Chinese food.
"Ricky, I'm in the shower, you can just bring it in. Sit it on the sink," you sigh, the hot water still running against your tired body. It's kind of embarrassing, but you hadn't noticed the suspiciously missing towels until you were already in the shower, but at least Ricky has good enough hearing to bring you some. You know you just restocked it last night, but maybe you only thought you did? You were delirious after all.
Ricky sighs, his eyes nervously flicking to the flowered shower curtain before he drops the towels by the sink. Are you two getting comfortable enough around each other where this isn't going to be awkward? He kind of likes that, you don't seem bothered by him walking in at all.  "Anything else?"
"A back massage and some rose petals to walk over, thanks."
Ricky snorts. "Right on that."
"Were there not towels in here last night?" You ask after a moment, frowning. You know you put some in there. "Like, I'm not crazy, am I? I know I put some new ones on the shelf."
"Uh, I didn't look." Ricky has no idea, he never pays attention. He glances at the fogged mirror above the sink, absently drawing a little smiley face in the corner through the water. "I'll ask Chloe."
"Did we have pancake mix?"
"Yeah, I found some. There's plenty for everyone." And half the band, since most of the bag is in the bowl. "Are you working today?"
"Might as well, I don't feel like I'm dying now."
"I'm going to take Chloe with me to work, she's usually just fine. Do you need anything or want us to get something?" He asks, hearing his phone ring. He ignores it, he doesn't want to talk to anyone this early. He has plans on taking a shower, getting Chloe ready, and then driving to work; if it's one of the guys, he'll talk to them then.
"I should be good, thanks."
"Hello, thanks for calling Daddy's phone, this is Chloe."
Ricky hesitates, turning to look out the half-open door as he hears his daughter answer the phone. She sounds chipper, not at all plagued by a stomach bug or thinking she's going to die anymore. He's relieved you're both feeling better and he isn't going to have to contend with that at the same time, he's not sure he's mentally prepared for that chaos.
"Oh, hi, Chris!" she brightens a little bit. "Daddy? Oh, he's helping (Y/N) take a shower, I can tell him you called."
"CHLOE!" Ricky gasps, able to hear your laughter start from behind the curtain as he makes a mad dash out of the bathroom, nabbing the phone from his daughter and urging her back to the kitchen table, ignoring her confused expression.
He's going to have to talk to her about being too honest.
Also he was not helping you take a shower.
"Hey," he mutters as he lifts the phone to his ears, his face hot. He can't believe Chloe just said that. Of all the times for her to answer his phone! Thank god it wasn't her mother, he can only imagine how downhill that would have went.
"Hey, did you cut the shower short?" Chris sounds amused as if he's trying not to laugh, and his guitarist sighs heavily.
"I was just giving her a towel." he grumbles, shooting his child a look as he skulks towards your bedroom, shutting the bathroom door as an afterthought so it's not wide open. You're still chuckling to yourself, you probably think it's hilarious.
"Ahuh. So we have a meeting at twelve, I've emailed you the lyrics for the next song, we can begin writing the music for it now. Ryan's supposed to meet us there, but Devin is out for the day."
"That's fine," Ricky runs his fingers down his face. "I'll have to bring Chloe, she's staying with me for the week."
"She feeling better?"
"She's happily eating pancakes, no sight of sickness." Ricky assures, knowing how Chris is. The man can't stand for someone to even cough or sneeze around him without liberally spraying Lysol he magicks out of thin air.  "She'll just color like usual. Or play on my phone."
"Sounds good. See you at twelve."
"See you." Ricky clicks the end button, cutting his eyes at his daughter's back but deciding not to say anything right now. She's just now finishing up her pancakes, smearing what's left of her syrup on them. "Chloe, you're going to work with me after school today, alright? When you get done, we'll get ready."
"Okay."
~~~~~~~~~~
"Daddy?"
"Yeah?" Ricky focuses on the road in front of him, his fingers curled loosely around the steering wheel. He has his hair brushed behind his ears, tired blue eyes staring forward as they wait on the light to turn. He feels like he's been sitting here for fifteen minutes, Chloe impatiently asking if they're there yet for the last ten.
She's going to be late for school if this damned light doesn't change! He hates having to walk her inside the school, he wants to just drop her off during the designated time frame where the teachers are out there to make sure they get in there safely.
"Are you and (Y/N) going to have a baby?"
"What? No." Ricky hesitates, his eyes flicking in the rearview mirror. He tried to get her hair in order, but eventually you'd come to the rescue when she started whining five minutes in. She was good for you, letting you run the pink brush through her black strands, clipping the pastel bow as you drew the front of her hair back so it wouldn't fall in her face.
Ricky thinks Chloe is out to get him today, but you'd just rolled your eyes at him and told him to not be so stupid. Still, she's giving him... attitude, or something, he can't explain it. Answering his phone like that, getting all fussy when he tried to get her ready, not wanting to finish taking her medicine like the doctor said because it tastes bad. He doesn't get it, she's never like this.
Also why does she always want to ask him these leading questions when they're in the car and not when he can really look at her and focus?
"We're not going to have a baby." he says firmly, knowing that without doubt. Not unless there's some kind of immaculate conception. "Why? Do you want a little brother or sister?"
"Well..." Chloe hesitates, then shakes her head. "No. I don't want to have to share you."
Oh.
Ricky's cheeks flush, and he doesn't immediately respond. Why did her words have to hit such a special spot? She doesn't want to have to share him, that's precious. All he wants to do suddenly is squeeze her in a hug.
"You don't have to share me with anyone, don't worry. It's us against the world, kid."
"Mommy was talking to Sam," her mom's stupid ass boyfriend, "and she said if you had a new baby you might not want me to come over anymore."
He sighs. Her mother, she's out to get him, there's no peace.
"Why would she say something like that?"
"She's worried that you won't keep me sometimes when she has to go to the doctor and Sam is busy."
"Does Mommy go to the doctor often?" Ricky asks carefully, knowing last time he tried to get Chloe to tell him anything about it she stubbed up and wouldn't. It makes his chest pinch with worry.
"More now. She gets upset and stays in the bathroom a lot." Chloe frowns, her brows furrowing. "She doesn't like Sam, he makes her cry."
"How does he make her cry? Is he mean to her?" Ricky shifts uncomfortably in his seat, tightening his grip on the wheel. What's her boyfriend doing that's making her cry? Ricky will not tolerate that! He might not get along with the mother of his child, but he's not going to let someone bully or hurt her either, that's unacceptable!
"They fight a lot." Chloe shrugs her tiny shoulders. "He told her she would have to get daycare if you and (Y/N) had a baby, because he wouldn't watch me. I told Mommy I can watch myself but it just made her cry more."
Fucker.
Ricky hates Sam.
"We're never going to have a baby, you're the only one I'll ever have." he replies, and reaches back, feeling her fingers curl through his immediately. He gives them a gentle squeeze, lightly applying his foot to the gas as the light finally changes.
"Daddy, you can't have babies," Chloe reminds. "You're a boy."
Okay, she has him there.
"Okay, true," he represses a smile. "But you know what I mean. I won't have a baby with anyone else."
"What if it's an accident?"
"It's very unlikely."
Chloe doesn't seem convinced, but she's barely six. She doesn't understand how all of that works yet --- nor is Ricky comfortable with her ever finding out about it.
"Daddy, was I an accident?"
"You were... a surprise," he replies, deciding this conversation is going downhill quickly. "Are you excited to see your uncles?"
"Is Ryan gonna be there?"
"Yes."
"Then yes!"
Ricky chuckles, relaxing a little in his seat. It bothers him that something is terribly wrong with Claire now, that you're right about it. What's this about her boyfriend being mean to her? What's going on with the two of them? If he needs to step in --- he knows it's none of his business, that there's boundaries, but he can't stand the thought of Chloe having to witness an abusive relationship or anything that would traumatize her.
He had a rough youth, made some bad decisions as a teenager, he never wants Chloe to feel like he did, to go to lengths to want it all to end. He wants her happy and to have a good life, and he wants to be there to witness her growing up and being successful.
He's going to have to talk to you about this tonight.
~~~~~~~~~
"She really said that?" You gasp in surprise where you sit on the edge of your tub, slowly applying your lotion to your hands as you stare at his reflection in the mirror above your sink. "That this guy is mean to her mom?"
"She said that he makes her cry," Ricky scowls, slowly brushing his teeth and doing his best to speak around the toothbrush. Chloe has been asleep for a few hours, and the two of you are getting ready for bed. Ricky has found the two of you are getting into a routine when Chloe is there, going to bed at the same time, but usually talking softly for an hour or so before one of you falls asleep. "But that she has to go to the doctor a lot. And Chloe worries that if we have a baby, she won't be able to come over as much."
"Well that's silly." You sigh, rubbing the scented lotion onto your wrist. You have to wash your hands and arms constantly so the grease and other liquids you deal with don't stain your skin, and you don't want it to dry either. You religiously apply it, and hope Ricky doesn't mind you doing so while he's also getting ready for bed. "Even if we did, that wouldn't change anything. There would just be more screaming."
"Exactly! And that stupid fuck is freaking her out," Ricky scowls as he spits, turning on the sink to let water run over the blue toothbrush before he washes his mouth. "She's worried we won't want her, and that's not the case! She's too young for anxiety!"
"Do you think everything is okay with Claire? Should you talk to her?" You worry, leaning down to push more lotion in your hands, slowly massaging it into your legs.
Ricky's eyes flick to your reflection, watching absently. "I tried to talk to her about it the other day, but she told me it was none of my business, in much less nice terms."
"Well, if you were already fighting, I'm not surprised. Maybe try again," you say, running your fingers across your thighs. You always wear those shorts to bed, although it ranges from ridiculous basketball shorts to the typical ones women seem to wear, with...
"Is that my shirt?" Ricky asks after a moment, noticing the black t shirt with the symbols on the sleeves. He was wondering where that went, he couldn't find it the other day.
"Oh, is it?" You ask lightly, shrugging your shoulders. "Must have gotten mixed in the laundry."
"So you're stealing my clothes now?" Ricky asks in amusement as he turns to look at you, seeing you rubbing your hands together. You send him a look, the scent of brown sugar hitting his nose as you finish up.
"Well, not intentionally, but I guess so." You hope he doesn't mind, you really didn't think anything about it as you grabbed the shirt and tossed it on to sleep in. It looked just plain to you.
"It's fine, looks better on you anyway." Ricky shrugs, absently tugging at the hem where it comes to the middle of your thigh. "I don't have the curves for it."
"Don't be silly, you have wonderful curves," you tease, distinctly aware of his fingers brushing against the bare skin of your thigh, goosebumps left in his wake. You avert your gaze from him as you put your lotion up, clearing your throat. "You're coming to bed, right?"
"Yeah," Ricky waits for you to leave before flipping the light off. He checks on Chloe before making sure the door is locked and everything is good before heading to bed. He sighs as he nudges the bedroom door halfway closed, crawling in bed beside you and curling his arms around his pillow. "God today has been long."
"At least you're done now," you squirm beneath the sheets, finding that it's a little warmer tonight and you don't really want them. "We can rest, and do it all over again tomorrow."
"Oh, don't remind me. Chloe wouldn't settle down today in the studio, she like to drove me crazy. I don't know what her problem is today."
"She's a kid, and she thinks that she'll be replaced. Just give her some time," you say, your eyes adjusting to the darkness. You lay on your side, gazing at him in the darkness, seeing he has his face pushed down into the pillowcase. You reach forward to squeeze his shoulder, seeing him slowly move to look at you. "She has too much to think about. Why don't we do something fun tomorrow? I can take off early, we can take her mini-golfing or something, let her not think about it."
"Really?" Ricky's surprised.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm terrible at golf, so maybe a movie? Just something that would keep her occupied." You say, figuring it would be fun for Chloe to spend some quality time with her dad. "You have court Friday anyway, so when Chloe gets out of school tomorrow we'll have a day with her. Or you can, if you think it would be better if it's just the two of you."
"No, we can all go," Ricky likes the idea. "Chloe would ask constantly why you weren't there if you didn't come. I'll treat you girls to a night out."
"I can ---."
"If I don't pay, it'll look weird, we're married, remember?" Ricky says, the wedding ring heavy on his finger. It's black with silver designs, and he finds he twists and plays with it constantly. It doesn't feel as weird to wear anymore, and he's not uncomfortable, thinking everyone is staring at it and knows what a sham his marriage is. "You and Chloe can wear matching outfits and everything."
You snort. "I don't think I could pull off those little dresses she wears all the time, I wouldn't be as cute."
"I dunno, you have great legs, you can wear whatever you want." Ricky yawns, unaware of how bright your cheeks suddenly are.
Does he think your legs are great?
"Are you worried about Friday?" you ask after a moment, knowing you've been thinking about it. Friday is the big day, the entire reason you got married. You're anxious about it really, worried that it still won't go in Ricky's favor --- courts never seem to favor the father in these situations.
"Yeah. What if they still don't let me get her more often?"
"Then you keep working for it. Just show it's something you really want," you absently brush your fingers through his thick hair, tucking it behind his ear. "They'll see you're serious about it and not just doing it to be an ass."
"This is the second time I've tried for it, they should know I am." he mumbles, his eyes closing as you caress your fingers through his hair. It feels nice, it's soothing. "I'm not sure if Claire is going to be so adamant against it this time or not."
"How old was Chloe then?"
"Around three."
"Probably not so much, she's not a little baby anymore. She has her own mind about her."
That she does. "Attitude, too."
"She's just worried, don't hold it against her. I'm sure tomorrow will be better."
"Mmm." Ricky hopes so, she wore him out. He doesn't like getting onto her constantly, and finally he had to grab her arm and pull her to the side, tell her if she doesn't settle down he was going to send her to you and make her work on cars.
She didn't like that idea, and definitely calmed down, if not sulked a little.
Chris thought it was hilarious, said that you were going to make Chloe into the next little mechanic and she could take over the shop from you. Ricky doesn't care if Chloe does learn to work on cars, but she's definitely a little young for it just yet, especially since she hasn't been raised around them. He worries about her even just darting through the garage.
Maybe tomorrow will be better, like you said.
~~~~~~~~
"Are you sure this carnival is a good idea?" Ricky mumbles uneasily, Chloe's hand held tightly in his as you all three stand at the ticket booth. He doesn't like such a large crowd, what if he can't see his daughter at all times? What if someone nabs her? Some of these rides look sketchy, what if they break?
"It'll be fun, it's alright," you reply, seeing how excited his daughter is. "You can't keep her in a bubble all the time, plus I've always gone to the carnival, it's fun. Cotton candy, the lights, kissing boys behind the tents and sneaking away from parents." You tease, seeing the uncomfortable look on Ricky's face.
He gives a pained sigh, urging her to stand between the two of you as he goes to pay for the overpriced tickets. Chloe shifts her weight excitedly, barely holding onto your hand as she looks around at all the sights. Everything smells like popcorn and cakes, and she likes the way people are dressing in all the bright colors and tutus!
"I want a tutu like that," she says, looking at all the sparkles. "Daddy, can I have a tutu?"
"Maybe later," he slips a red bracelet around her wrist. "Let's go explore. Do you want popcorn or anything?"
"Yes, please! It smells good!" Chloe says excitedly, loosely holding onto you. You tighten your grip on her as you follow Ricky under the large arch decorated with balloons and onto the fairground.
It looks like any other fair, games set up all around that you can win prizes of stuffed animals, a dunktank, the staff dressed up in all sorts of outfits or walking on stilts. Chloe's eyes are huge as she looks around, taking in all the sights from the bright colors to the food vendors. Her fingers keeping flexing in yours, and honestly you're a little nervous you'll lose your grip on her.
You understand why people want to constantly carry their toddlers.
"A photo booth!" Chloe tugs forcefully on your hand, making you veer to your right instead of towards the vendor offering popcorn for a dollar at his little stand, wearing a red and striped hat and matching shirt. Ricky hastily follows the two of you, seeing as his daughter is suddenly intent on having her photo taken in one of those random photo booths with the curtain. "Let's get our pictures taken!"
"Ah --- what about the popcorn?" You don't want your photo taken! You're dressed nicely enough, but just normal, not picture-worthy. You're not wearing the right makeup, plus the booth looks really small, so maybe Ricky and Chloe should just get some cute ones together and leave you out of it. When you make the suggestion, Chloe looks completely against it, arguing that you need a photo of all of you instead.
You give Ricky an apologetic look as you slip into the small booth, barely enough room for you and him to both sit. He has no choice but to slip his arm around your shoulder as he draws the curtain, Chloe sitting on your laps in the middle, impatiently waiting for you to slip your quarters into the machine so you can get started.
You haven't been in one of these cheap booths in years, the black curtain a little ratty, the seat hard and uncomfortable, especially since you're squished together. You glance at the dim screen as Chloe goes through picking a design for the frame of the strip, and you realize you may have put too many quarters in with how many photos you're getting.
"Our first family photo," Ricky says after a moment, giving your shoulders a light squeeze as you roll your eyes. only to cringe as there's a flash to let you know that's probably the first picture captured. Great, your first photo together and you're rolling your eyes at your husband, you suppose it's really showing how your marriage is going.
"Smile!" Chloe says with a huff when it starts counting down on the screen again, which you hadn't noticed before. You want to squirm, your leg is falling asleep, the booth is just too small! You're not too fond of enclosed spaces, but, well, you force a smile anyway, leaning into Ricky.
Okay, that turned out cute.
"How many photos are there?" Ricky grumbles after the fourth one and yet the booth keeps going, shifting uncomfortably. His fingers absently draw circles along your arm, and you shift a little at his warm touch.
"You get two strips for as many quarters as I put in," you reply sheepishly, giving him an apologetic shrug. "Let's make faces, we have enough good ones."
You and Chloe make faces, while Ricky purses his lips and doesn't look impressed. You pinch him lightly, and he sends you a look before he makes a face like what you want. It'll be cute, everyone is supposed to have funny pictures together! You grin as you look at him, pleased.
Chloe giggles as it shows a preview of the photo, liking all of your expressions. You turn to look at Ricky, amused; you had no idea his tongue was so long, or that he could nearly touch his nose with it while his eyes crossed, impressive.
He quirks a black brow at you, and you smile at him, just... looking at him for a moment. You have to admit he's cute, with his black hair framing his face and his pale skin. His beanie is drawn down a little low, but you like it on him, he always looks good.
You're kind of glad you married him, honestly. He sets a high standard for anyone else you're ever with. He's actually thoughtful, he makes you breakfast if he gets up before you, which is every time Chloe is over since she's an early riser. You two have sort of got a system down with living in the apartment, it seems normal and natural now. It's like having a roommate who just sometimes has to sleep in the same bed as you.
Sometimes, though, it would be nice to have more than a roommate. The thought has crossed your mind several times, but you're not sure if it's really something you want to go for. Plus, what if you make a move and he turns you down? You're really good friends, and have only kissed because you have to under the circumstances. What if he's not into you? What if you embarrass yourself instead, you'll never live it down!
You're not even sure why you want to complicate the situation like that, you know it's going to be over eventually. There's no point in becoming fuck buddies when inevitably your marriage will end, and what if you get even more attached? You're sort of getting used to being part of a trio, Chloe has become a constant in your life and you're going to miss her when she's not around --- with the court date being tomorrow where Ricky starts the process for full custody, you're not sure what's going to happen.
It's not going to be something that's just immediate, you're sure it's going to take some time as they have to go through processes; you're not up to date on how it works, but it's not... well, you kind of like how everything is going right now.
Except maybe you'd like to add a little more to it?
You do it on impulse, leaning forward to kiss him, you're not even sure why you do since you know it's a bad idea. Your wedding crosses your mind, how he kissed you that day, like he really meant it. You don't think anyone has ever kissed you so passionately before, as corny as that sounds.
Ricky is surprised, you can tell it by how he goes still, but then he's kissing you back, his soft lips melding against yours. You can feel your heartbeat escalate at the gentle way he responds to you, and it's such a simple kiss, not demanding, not leading to anything else --- just... good. You sort of melt, holding your breath and finding you're enjoying this much more than you expected.
"Ew! Enough moushy-moush!" Chloe gasps indignantly, curling her nose in disgust when she glances behind her, the pictures finally complete and no longer holding her attention. "Don't be gross!"
Ricky chuckles against your lips, reluctantly leaning away to look down at his daughter. His lips are tingling from yours, and he knows his cheeks are hot, especially with where his thoughts were going. He didn't expect you to kiss him, there wasn't a reason too, unless you were just doing it for the photos? He doesn't think you've kissed since your wedding, and that suddenly seems like it was years ago.
"Sorry. Still want that popcorn?"
"After we look at photos!" Chloe slips out of his lap, throwing the curtain open and grabbing the two strips out of the dispenser on the booth. You and Ricky crawl out of the small space, and you stretch your arms above your head with a yawn; working all day wore you out, even though you did take off early.
You watch as Chloe grabs the photos, peering down at them with a pleased face. You look over her shoulder, biting your lip at the stupid faces you're both making in them, and then the one where Ricky finally did too. Yep, totally caught you rolling your eyes at him, and --- oh. It caught you kissing.
Well.
"You're adorable," Ricky says, lifting one strip of photos up, the first round you took. He likes them, you actually look like a little family together like that. He has maybe a few photos where it's him and Claire with their daughter, but that was in the beginning.
"Can we get popcorn now?" Chloe is looking at the vendor like it wasn't her idea to sidetrack first. "Daddy?"
"Yeah, go ahead," Ricky nods as he tugs his wallet from his back pocket and hands her a dollar. His eyes stay riveted on her as she darts the few feet away to the man giving out popcorn, and you slip your arm through his, following her. It seems like such a natural thing to do, to curl your arm through his or hold his hand, your wedding ring sparkling in the lights around you; you figure it's just because it's still new to you even wearing it, and so pretty and sparkly and he really did a good job picking it.
Chloe turns happily with her bag of popcorn, offering the two of you some before taking handfuls and trying to eat much more than she can at once. You chuckle as you watch her, Ricky keeping up with her easily, not letting her get too far away from him or making her hold his hand in the most crowded areas.
"I wanna get my face painted!" she gasps as she sees the table set up, a few artists painting on kids faces with brushes. Your eyes flick across them, seeing their tattooed arms and piercings, their faces all painted Day of the Dead style. Chloe heads straight for the woman in the sparkly tutu she saw earlier, and Ricky actually sighs as he follows her.
"Oh, cheer up, now we can eat her popcorn," you say as she carelessly gives it to you, looking excited as she stands in line. You noticed one of the guys dressed as a skeleton keeps glancing up, his eyes focusing on Ricky before he returns to the task of his painting. "I think you've been spotted, Mr. Horror."
Ricky's eyes flick to the skeleton guy before away, pretending he doesn't notice. He gets it sometimes, being in a rather popular metal band, people staring at him like they know him from somewhere or outright recognizing him. He usually tries to ignore it unless they approach him, and tonight he really just wants to enjoy his time with you and Chloe.
"Hey, kiddo, what kind of picture do you want?" the lady asks as Chloe sits down on the stool in front of her, eyeballing all the different designs she can choose. Ricky reluctantly puts two dollars in the jar with the price, wondering if he's going to have enough cash before the night is over. He figured Chloe would go more for the rides and the games than this stuff.
"This one," Chloe points at the black and white butterfly design, and you raise a brow, surprised she didn't go for the sparkly purple one, you would have... but you also like glitter.
"Alright," the artist dips her brush in the paint, brushing blonde hairs out of her black painted eyes as she starts drawing on the little girls face slowly. Her hair is in pig tails, and you have to commend their attention to details with their outfits, you're surprised the kids aren't afraid of them.
You lean into Ricky, his arm slipping around your shoulder as you wait on Chloe. Your eyes trail around you, washing over the crowd and the staff, all the excited children running around. You can hear the music from the rides and the games, and you purse your lips, seeing the game with the darts and the balloons.
You used to be really good at that one, you wonder if you can win Chloe a prize... or just embarrass yourself.
You cross your arms, watching as the butterfly starts forming, the long wings turning out around her eyes. It's really pretty, especially when the lady draws the silver bits out, really giving it some depth.
"Hey, uh, excuse me."
Ricky glances over, his blue eyes flicking to the skeleton who'd been eyeballing him earlier stepping up. He's about Ricky's height, dressed in full costume with black and white face paint, a brush still held in his paint-stained fingers.
"Sorry to bother you when you're with your family, but I'm a big fan of your music," the skeleton says, sounding nervous and managing to look sheepish beneath his makeup. "You guys are badass. Could I get a selfie with you?"
You're trying so hard not to smile but oh my gosh. Ricky is having a famous moment, he can't say no. You'll even take the photo, this is great. You find it funny no one really cares about signatures anymore, photos do make it more clear you met someone.
"Uh," Ricky shifts slightly, but you squeeze his hand where it dangles off your shoulder before stepping away.
"I can take the picture," you offer, the skeleton perking up. Ricky sends you a look, but you ignore him as you take the guys phone, Chloe still preoccupied with her face painting to care about anything else. You take a few steps back, the skeleton beaming where he stands beside his favorite guitarist as you take their photo. "There ya go."
"Great thanks!"
"No problem," Ricky says, shrugging his shoulders. You like that he's a little embarrassed, but shouldn't he be used to it by now? You're sure depending on where they go, they have to get recognized a lot. "Glad you like our music."
"Daddy, Mommy, look!" Chloe suddenly demands, and you both look at her, seeing a pretty black and silver butterfly design around her eyes. "What do you think?"
"It looks pretty," you reply, giving her a strained smile; oh shit, did she mean to say mommy? She's never called you that before, and oh god if Claire ever heard that she would absolutely die. There would be another world war, she would crucify you, you can only imagine how many voodoo dolls with your likeness would pop up. You're definitely not ready to be called mommy. Did Ricky hear her?
"Very nice," Ricky agrees, returning his attention to the skeleton, shaking his hand for a moment before the man returns to painting faces. You give the lady a smile who painted Chloe's as you help her off the stool, her hand clamping in yours happily as she admires the design in the dinky mirror sitting on the table.
"Why don't we play some games, hmm? Or get on some rides?" Ricky suggests as he returns to his family, Chloe's hand finding his so that she holds onto both of you as you start walking. "There's some teacups over there I think."
They don't spin fast, right? He doesn't want her getting sick, not when she's just really starting to feel better. His eyes flick to you, but you're not really saying anything, still holding onto the half-full bag of popcorn.
"Okay!" Chloe excitedly starts forward, dragging both of you along with her. Ricky isn't sure who's going to be exhausted by the time the night is over, him or Chloe. He's hoping running around and doing everything will make her sleep good tonight, considering he has court tomorrow and then her mom is picking her up from school.
He just wants everything to go well, he wants to be able to do more with her, watch her grow up. It's not so much to ask! He kind of likes doing stuff like this, little family things he can't do with her mother. He would be miserable if she was there, constantly bitching about something, they would end up fighting it and ruin the moment for Chloe.
Some people just aren't meant to be together.
~~~~~~~
"She's completely wore out," Ricky yawns as he closes the bedroom door behind him, seeing you're on the sofa in your pajamas already, flipping through the photos you took on your phone earlier in the night. "I couldn't get her to wash that butterfly off her face so it's going to be a mess in the morning."
"I'm sure it'll be alright," you reply, glancing up at him. You move your legs so he can sit down beside you, propping his feet up on the coffee table. "I got some cute photos of her on the spinning teacups, you two looked adorable."
"I could barely fit in it."
"That's the best part," you chuckle, shifting so that he can look through the pictures with you. You have a ton of Chloe just... well, being Chloe and doing stuff, playing games, having fun on rides, carrying around the stuffed dinosaur you won her at the balloon game; you were extremely proud of yourself, you've never been so pleased to give someone your prize before. Chloe absolutely loved it, and Ricky even looked impressed.
"Look at her eating popcorn," you chuckle, Ricky leaning against your shoulder to look. "She had it everywhere in the car."
"She doesn't mind if its stale or not." Ricky smiles, seeing her asleep in her carseat, head tilted to the side. "She could barely stay awake after the first hour or so, I had to carry her to the car and then she asked where we were going next."
"As long as she had fun, that's what matters." You say, trying to stifle your own yawn. "I thought she'd like it."
"She had a blast." Ricky glances at you. He wants to ask about the kiss from earlier, find out what that was about. Was it just for aesthetic purposes, do you want him to post the photos? That's what people typically do, right? Post them everywhere to show how cute their family is. "Did you... enjoy yourself?"
"It was fun. I can't believe I did so good at that balloon game, I haven't done that in years." You say, pleased. "I used to be great at it when I was a teenager."
"When you snuck off from your parents and kissed boys?"
Your cheeks heat, and you send him a look. "I was joking. I was too awkward of a teenager, I didn't really go on dates."
"I didn't either." Ricky doesn't have a lot of fond memories of his youth, he was awkward and uncomfortable in his own skin back then. He's dreading when Chloe becomes a teenager and he has to figure that out.
"So we were both losers," you say wryly, earning a roll of his eyes. "No wonder we match up so well."
"I like to think we're just that good of friends."
"Maybe." Friends, right, yeah that.
You finish going through your photos, sending him all the really good ones before tossing your phone down and stretching. "I'm exhausted, I'm probably going to bed too. You coming?"
"Later, I have to get my stuff together for court tomorrow." Ricky grimaces. "I have to make sure everything is good to go."
"Just don't stay up too late," you say, thoughtlessly patting his thigh before getting to your feet. "Being tired won't do you any favors."
"I know. Night."
"Night."
Ricky watches you walk away, sinking down lower on the sofa.
You haven't said anything about the kiss, so..?
So why did you do it? It was such a good kiss, just simple, not leading to anything. No one could see you, so you didn't have to do it. He was surprised, he didn't expect it, and maybe he shouldn't have kissed you back like that, but he couldn't help himself.
There's just something about you.
Then there's also the issue of Chloe calling you mommy. He heard, he just ignored it, not sure what he was supposed to do. The look on your face told him you didn't miss it either, but he's unsure of how you feel about it.
If Claire ever hears her daughter call you mommy, she would destroy half the planet in rage. She couldn't ban you from seeing Chloe, but she would definitely make his life hell. He doesn't want her to think you're trying to replace her or take her daughter away, that's not either of your intentions.
Should he talk to Chloe about it? She might have just slipped up, caught up in the moment. She's only six, it has to be confusing for her, seeing the two of you together. Does she want to have parental figures like that? Is she too young to even care?
He runs his fingers down his face with a soft groan, starting to give himself a headache. He'll talk to you about it tomorrow, see if it bothered you or if you want him to talk to Chloe about it. He thinks it was just a slip up, she was just caught up in the moment, she's just a kid.
He doesn't want to berate her or anything about it, she wouldn't understand.
Man, parenting is complicated.

Sanctuary ||| Seungmin x Reader
Summary: A cumulation of issues combine to leave you terrified on summer’s night in your bed. Longing for sleep, you decide to escape, against what your nyctophobia tries to tell you.
Genre: Angst, but big Fluff after Warning(s): Fear of the dark, fear of death inferred, vague description of a (not real) ghost and cause of death, portrayal of a scared reader Word Count: 2822 Theme Song: None really but this is the ambience I listened to   AN: A request from @idontknowapil, i hope this wasnt too scary/morbid for you! (dark writing is kinda in my bones), i hope the fluff after makes up for it
~~~
It was too hot in your stuffy room. Summer had hit full force this year and hadn’t let up for weeks on end, and it didn’t help that your fears had done so too.
You couldn’t be sure as to when you’d awoken, but you were certain that it was too long ago, and with the power out, you still lay awake most likely hours later.
Even with the windows wide open no coolness entered your bedroom, and in fact the mechanic had proved to be more of a curse than a blessing. The crickets were overwhelmingly loud, and the breeze proved to be just carrying humid heat across the air. The only other thing it had done was shift the curtains and branches beyond your room uneasily, creating figures that shifted in the weak moonlight and you prayed were false.
The thought of something lurking outside, where it could slink into your room where you couldn’t see terrified you, and it added to the sweat that had gathered upon every inch of your skin.
You wanted the window closed so desperately, you wanted the damned crickets to be quiet but you also longed to hear proof that you weren’t alone with the possible phantoms. You tried to focus on remembering saying goodnight to everyone in the apartment, there being no way for them to magically disappear, but it was not enough to fight your irrational brain.
You swallowed thickly. You were stuck on your side to the covers of the bed, facing away from the door—another example of your damned luck—and beginning to become unable to ignore the parched feeling in your throat. You needed to feel the relief of being uncaged, but you were petrified of the possibilities that could occur if you stuck even a single toe out from under the blanket.
Your breathing faltered as you saw a strange silhouette arc across the billowing curtain, gently swaying like the skirt of a girl lost to the creatures of the night. The lace of her dark veil fluttered limply upon a face that you saw crooked, then blinked, and was gone.
Your thoughts spiralled as you shut your eyes tight. You didn’t want to become the girl, you didn’t want to follow in her footsteps and become like a curtain.
You bit your lip to stifle a warbled whine. This was no good. The heat was suffocating, the bed felt as if it was stretching—you couldn’t stay. Neither could you walk to the window, stand by the ghost of what you feared would become of you, and reach your hand out into the darkness to shut it out. God forbid something had already got in.
You slipped your hand to your mouth, taking as deep breaths as you could manage.
There is nothing in the dark, the dark can’t hurt me. There is nothing in the dark, the dark can’t hurt me. There is nothing in the dark, the dark can’t—
You moved like a flurry, kicking your blanket off as if to dazzle any waiting predator and charging to the closed door. Your brain imagined locking sounds over the drum of your heartbeat, following footsteps behind the wild thud of your own, and you tried to shut the thoughts out.
Not caring about the noise you swung the door open and slammed it shut once you were through. You hissed however at the consequences, as in your tired state you had become clumsy, accidentally whacking your hip on the frame as you slipped through.
Standing by the door in silence, you heard no noise from behind it, but neither did you hear any on your side which did little to calm you.
Peering into the dark of the hall, you counted the hazy outlines of the doors until you marked the one you needed. It wasn’t the furthest one, to some good fortune, but neither was it near. There was a good five metres between you and sanctuary.
Needing to now mimic the quiet around you, you began to tiptoe across the wooden floorboards, palm clamped to your lips as you tried to not think about what would happen to you if something burst from each door as you passed them, or even if you just heard one open—worse yet if it was yours.
“There is nothing in the dark, the dark can’t hurt me,” you repeated in your head like a mantra, keeping your eyes low, as if to avoid offence to anything that could take it.
It took so long for you to reach the room you were after that you’d begun to think that you were trapped in a nightmare with a cliche corridor that never ended.
Your hand rested on the doorknob, surprisingly chilled compared to the rest of the night, when a thunk ricocheted from above you straight into your skull.
A gasp left your system before you could hold it, your voice yanked into it hoarsely, as you immediately pushed through the door. It came to a close with less sound this time, as you felt more awake and were subsequently able to control it this time, but you still sank to the floor, your back against it.
The sound was from the pipes, it was a sound you heard during the day every time it just happened to get quiet enough in the dorms, it just happened at the wrong time.
You knew you’d chosen the room well, as it was situated where the sun would not hit it as boldly, hence it didn’t feel like a sauna. Only the small windows were open, you noticed as your eyes scoured the room to check, and you noted that the curtains were tied back to likely avoid the thing you’d fallen prey to. And, as you listened to the silence, you noticed the crickets were much more distant here too.
Just as you were beginning to catch your breath however, there was a slow, drawn out shuffle to your right, at a distance much too close for comfort, and your heart immediately jumped into full gear.
Forcing yourself to twist your head to the origin of the sound, your eyes were confronted with the sight of a silhouette, rising in the dark.
Your breath hitched as you snapped your eyes shut and hid behind your arms. “Th-there is nothing in the dark, the dark can’t hurt me! There is nothing in the dark, and the—!”
“Y/N...?”
The room was plunged into golden light as if an angel had fallen into the room. Though perhaps in a strange way, one had.
Peering up from your bundle on the floor at the familiar voice, you saw your sanctuary.
Seungmin was leaning on one arm, rubbing his sleep-filled eyes with his hand as he grimaced against the light from his bedside lamp. “Ahhh, this thing is too bright,” he murmured groggily to himself, moving to rub his cheek indented with the lines from his clearly mussed up pillowcase.
He looked so sweet with his hair dishevelled, not that you were paying much attention this right at that moment. Relief instead seeped through your body as you slowly staggered to your feet, you heart gradually beginning to calm itself.
“Y/N? Are you ok?” he enquired, watching you sway slightly as the adrenaline left you.
You nodded, hand smoothing your hair from where it had gotten stuck at your face, feeling guilty for the rude awakening you’d just given him. “I’m sorry, Min, I’m really sorry I didn’t mean to cause such a racket, a-and wake you like this—”
He sighed, but there was no malice in his intonation. “You got scared again didn’t you?”
“What?” you stammered, watching as he slowly settled back down onto the mattress. “Again?”
It wasn’t that you thought this was a first time occurence—not at all, this was far from being the first occasion since you moved in with your new roommates. No, you were much more worried about how he knew about it, which meant he’d heard you panicking before, and it wasn’t difficult to believe others had done too.
Meanwhile Seungmin didn’t even bat an eye, shifting himself across the bed so as to leave enough room for another, bringing his thin blanket with him. “I’m just glad you came to get help this time, rather than suffering alone,” he said, “come on.”
Under normal circumstances, you were certain that he would never have you on his bed with him, and neither would you join him. But these were different times, and the fear of the night pushed you to pad across the short distance without a second’s thought, settling into the slightly cooler covers.
Feeling plenty warm enough, you rested your head on the pillow where he had slept prior, anxiously keeping your eyes upon him. He was still no less groggy, but he was somewhat more awake with your presence now there with him.
“Thank you,” you whispered, finding a place for your arms just outstretched from your chest so as to retain as little heat as possible.
Even though you wanted to sink into a state of peace at last, you knew it was perhaps wishful thinking. Your relationship with Seungmin was close, but at a weird stepping stone. You were pretty sure he liked you much akin to how you liked him, but neither of you seemed to make a move; you kept that ‘good feelings’ distance, never actually holding his hand when you could, or clearing his cheek of crumbs when the opportunity arose. And there was little chance of a confession tonight, at whatever hour it was in the morning.
Still, there was some progress made, even if it was only miniscule.
Seungmin meanwhile hummed in acknowledgement, tucking arm beneath his head as he blinked at you dazedly. “Do you want to keep the light on?”
You nodded sheepishly, not really wanted to admit it with your words.
“That’s ok, I just will have to face the other way to sleep that’s all,” he chuckled tiredly, deciding to move the conversation elsewhere, “the crickets are out at full force tonight.”
You managed an airy laugh. “Y-yeah, I’m pretty sure they’re camping beneath my window.”
As he laughed at your response, you couldn’t help but take in his scrunched up face for how cute he looked. His cheeks looked so precious, you just wanted to cradle them in your fingers. You glanced down to look at his own, only to spot how close your hands were. He too had one splayed further across the no man’s land between the two of you, and it became apparent to you that if you moved your hand only an inch across, you would be able to lace your fingers with his.
The phantom feeling of his touch upon your skin sent a blush to your cheeks in a ripple. You were thankful that the heat probably meant you were already flushed in the face and so he wouldn’t notice.
“It’ll be autumn soon, they won’t harass you for too much longer hopefully,” he said, shifting further down his pillow so your shadow blocked out some of the light. You felt a twinge in your gut, as it would probably be much more comfortable for him if the lamp was turned off. His eyes blinking and relieved from the striking pale auburn, he was able to take the sight of you in better and it meant he spotted the crestfallen tone in your features—you hid it well, as with many things, but he’d become accustomed to catching the small slips in the facade (not that he’d ever admit to you how often his eyes were drawn to you when you weren’t looking).  “It’s ok, really! I don’t mind the light being on. If it will help you, then I’m more than happy to have it on its brightest setting.”
You battled with yourself then to not think about the meanings of his words too deeply, otherwise there would be no way you would get a single wink of sleep that night. Instead you rolled onto your back, reaching to the light.
“We can turn down the brightness a bit though! Just... tell me how.”
“J-just tap it. The base.”
The bulb dimmed at your touch, and you returned to the covers, to find him a tad closer—or at least you thought he was. It could be a trick of the light, which is what you write it off as, feeling the rationale return to your mind.
You once again got comfortable, this time drawing your knees a bit closer to your body, the cool of the room finally beginning to seep into your skin. The difference was huge, apparently, as you also started to feel a lethargy sink into your eyes.
“Better?” you enquired softly, gazing at him in the faded gold, hopelessly enraptured by how the light fell across the faint waves and lost curls.
He nodded slowly, his eyes slipping closed every few seconds. When they were open, catching the glimmer of the light, they seemed to follow the slopes of your face. And then he was yawning, and you felt your heart simper as his hand slipped up from its place between you to hide it as best you could.“I’m sorry, I’m so tired.”
His hand fell back onto the covers, but as if to prove your earlier judgements, it did not return to its original position.
His hand brushed yours ever so delicately, the warmth of his skin sending a shock through your blood so strong that you were surprised how still you were able to remain.  You expected him to quickly remove his hand, awkwardness taking to his face and leading him to roll over.
But he did not indulge in any of that, his hand staying by yours.
You didn’t know what to think. Raising your eyes to try and meet his, you found he would only let you for a fraction of a second, before they swept away, and eventually hid behind his eyelids as he sighed.
“I think... I’m going to have to sleep, now,” he uttered, his voice faraway.
You figured he was exhausted, and it was something else you shared in that moment too, his words allowing the sleep to pass onto you more thoroughly.
“Yeah, same,” you swallowed, forcing your eyes closed and feeling relief as you felt the dip of sleep finally surround you. “Goodnight.”
His echo was the last thing you heard as the room was plunged into absolute peace. The sound of his quickly slowing and rhythmic breath was enough to lull you fully into sleep, just as only a good sanctuary could.
Tumblr media
You awoke very gradually, feeling a haze of warmth enveloping you while sunlight streamed through the uncovered windows. Even as your eyes opened ever so slightly, you still felt the weight of sleep holding you to the bed, not that you minded—
It took you a few moments to notice that weight was not only metaphorical, but also literal.
Rousing a bit further from your slumber, you shifted, only to make contact with something warm, alive, and very much sleeping behind you.
Peering down you found an arm slung haphazardly over your waist, the hand folded into the covers rather uncomfortably, and a pair of feet resting with yours.
You moved your weight as best you could so to get the best look possible at what was going on as the events that happened before the sunrise returned to you in mismatched increments. Finally able to see clearer, you were confronted with Seungmin pouting as he slept, his body pressed against yours and his blanket strewn over his thighs and nothing more.
Your heart melted as the realisation sunk in, much as you laid down into the mattress once again. Now on your back, you allowed yourself to gaze at his features, allowed the proximity but without the majority of the nerves.
He squirmed briefly in his sleep, brows furrowing, before he settled again, his hand now gripping at your shirt rather than the covers.
You sighed carefully, feeling your breath shallow as you paid more attention to the feel of him beside you. You weren’t sure how long this would last, since he was infamously an early bird, so you were shocked in that sense. But as the memories began to fit in place, a much more intense blush compared to the one during the night took to your face.
Reaching a tentative hand to him, you slowly caressed a single stroke across his cheek, your fingers ending by his rosy lips. You relished the contact, feeling your heart kick into a thrum.
You knew this couldn’t continue for much longer, otherwise your were sure your heart would burst. He was your sanctuary, you needed him more than just when times got rough. You wanted to be with him more than just then.
Trying to steady your breath, you smiled at his tranquil form. Your mind was made up, and you felt a strange bout of courage course through your veins. You’d tell him today.
Until then, the two of you could rest, and you lavished in the thought of that, as well as what lay ahead in the future.
Feeling across to turn the bedside lamp off, the sun’s rays filling the room with safety, you gently ushered his head to nuzzle closer to your neck.
Safer days lay ahead.
Meet Me Where The Waves Touches The Sky: take it when you go home. (III)
Note: I put a keep reading break but I am unsure if it is working, if there is no keep reading link then please let me know! I do not wish to bother anyone with long posts.
Story Description: We all have our issues, but some of us are sub-consciously pushing it away without realizing how deep under water we are. You don't realize the things around you aren't what used to be until you meet a celebrity struggling to live. Like the hypocrite you are, you help others without helping yourself first. But no one told you about helping others gives you this exhilarating feeling of being a saint. So for how long are you going to keep being a saint in a doctor's coat?
Genre: Angst, fluff (if you squint) and smut.
Pairing: You x Namjoon
Trigger Warning: It revolves heavily around suicide, depression and death. Please don’t read it if it is a sensitive topic for you. Also keep in mind it isn’t like ‘13 reasons why’. It takes place in more of an adult setting hence mature. It also has mature (+18) scene, alcohol consumption and occasional use of foul language hehe.
I am writing about suicide, death and depression not because I romanticize it or engage in it for others to partake. It is strictly for the purpose of writing a story to convey a message beyond these three words.
You were working overtime again. Soft glow of yellow light emanated from your desk lamp as you had your head resting on the palm of your hand with the elbow propped against the table and the other hand roughly filling out the details of the patient's paperwork. Though you didn't have any patients come in after Namjoon came in, there was still a substantial amount of paperwork pending from the day before. You deeply sighed, setting the pen down and shifted your vision to a body sleeping soundly on the couch. Namjoon ended up sleeping after the talk, you left him with a blanket and pillow because you knew he needed that rest. Sure, it was going to throw off his sleep cycle, but you couldn't risk him passing out due to lack of sleep.
Shuffling sound grabbed your attention on him again, he grunted softly and got up slowly, rubbing his eyes to get rid of the sleepiness on his face.
"Where- oh, I'm sorry, did I just sleep here?" Namjoon said groggily, sleep still in his system. You couldn't help but mentally chuckle at his state, "Yes you did. It's quite alright since you really needed it... You really did."
"Ah." He mumbled, his posture deflated and he hung his head low. He examined the floor for a few moments in silence then shifted his vision to the table top where the latte and cake used to be. "I have a question if you don't mind me asking." He asked, without taking his eyes off the table.
"Go ahead, it's my job anyways." You leaned back into your desk chair, ready to hear him out.
"I try so hard to be someone everyone likes, but I-I some don't seem to be getting there. My memb- I mean my family, when they need me, I don't think I fulfill my position prope-"
"Relax." You intercepted, he was clearly beating himself over something small that grew big and weighed him down. "It's not your job to be everything everyone needs, and you don't have to be impressive to be loved. Stop trying so hard. Just show up ... and be real with the world- with your family. That is enough." You shook your head, this man- he needed serious help. This wasn't just a simple 'I'm tired of life and etc.' this was a literal cry for help before giving up, "You know what? Do you have some time?" You asked, a little unsure since you knew he was a busybody. You two had never really discussed who Kim Namjoon was. As in the celebrity he is right now, all you knew was to not bring up his celebrity but help him draw a line between his celebrity life and personal life.
"Uh-yeah, I have a week off before work calls me." He answered back.
"Good. Follow me. I have a place to show you to, but that is if you only want to come." You stood up from your chair and cleaning up your desk before tucking in the chair and switching off the light. The moment the light was off, the room was dark except for the moonlight that filled up the room. Silence seemed louder and for a moment you were lost in the moonlight. It was a full moon tonight and it was shining bright.
〰️ 💠 〰️
You paused for a second in front of the door to the flat. You wondered for moment whether it was right to allow a patient in your house. But technically he wasn't patient, he wasn't yet put in the records. So it should be fine. Right?
"Is this your flat?" Namjoon asked which yanked you out of your thoughts. He was standing behind you, so it was already too late to send him back. You nodded your head silently in response to his question as you pressed in the code '314159' to the flat. You had always liked pi, it was a number that never ended, it just kept going on and on. For some strange reason you just liked the never-ending number. It's a number where you couldn't predicts its next digit like life, you couldn't possibly imagine what could be there for you in far future.
"But, are you okay- I mean are you allowed to let me in your flat? Isn't that a breach of-"
You couldn't help but think that Namjoon is smart and cautious before interrupting him, "You aren't technically my patient, you aren't yet in the documents" You said as the door unlocked and you entered with Namjoon following right behind you. The lights automatically switched on and you changed into your house slippers, "Wait a minute, let me get you slippers." You put your hand up to tell him to wait before you disappeared to get the slippers, leaving Namjoon alone at the entrance.
Namjoon took this opportunity to take a look around the entrance of the flat, on his right was a large abstract landscape painting. It had different hues of blue overlapping each other, the color was vibrant and it reminded him of the ocean waves. He suddenly felt at ease after just looking at the blue painting. You came with a pair of white soft slippers in your hand and spotted him looking at the blue painting.
"Do you like it?" You smiled as you set the slippers in front of his feet.
"I do, there's something about this painting."
"It makes you feel at ease doesn't it?" You stated, after all there was a reason you put that painting up at the entrance.
"Yeah. Yeah it does." He nodded still looking at the painting.
"Blue is known to calm a lot of people down, you know? A recent study in a Japanese University showed that the color blue reduced the depressed feeling by approximately thirty percent. So a lot of stations in Japan set up blue lights so people in the station would be at ease instead of thinking depressed thoughts. I actually went to the stations and it was beautiful." You stood right next to him and stared into the painting, "You can have the painting if you want."
Namjoon immediately turned to face you, "N-No it's -"
"Take it when you go home. It's fine by me." You smiled, "Anyways, welcome to the flat. The reason I wanted you to show you my place is because you need a place where you can be alone. Where no members, staff or anyone can find you. My place can be your place till you find your alone spot." You headed into your living room where the kitchen was located. Namjoon stayed silent but he followed you.
"This place is for you to be alone. Not to your thoughts about your position out there," You were referring to his idol life and he understood it, "But to complete logout you know? To recharge." You grabbed a piece of memo sheet and a pen from the kitchen island and scribbled down the code of your place. You were trusting him, it didn't matter to you if your password leaked out because you didn't have much to lose in this flat. Pretty much all the time you were holed up in your workplace.
Handing the sheet to Namjoon, he glanced at it and looked up to you, "Is this Pi? Like the number Pi?"
"Yes, It's also the password to this place, drop by whenever you want."
"Will I not be interrupting you or anything of that sort?"
He did object but wasn't refusing, you thought, It was a good thing. "No you aren't, I don't have any fishy business here nor will I ever be doing something that can't be interrupted. Care for beer?" You walked to the fridge and grabbed 2 bottles of beer, one for you and one for him.
"Uh yeah, I could use a beer." He agreed, you already had the second bottle in your hand and handed him a bottle.
"Can I also sleep here sometimes?" He hesitantly asked as he sat down on the chair at the kitchen island before taking a sip of the beer.
"Like I said, you are free to use the place, Namjoon. The bedroom is in the other hallway at the entrance. The bathroom is also there." You cocked your opened beer in the direction of the hallway that led back to the entrance of the flat.
"Wow-uh I-" Namjoon sunk back into his chair, he was clearly flustered with you giving him a place to crash, you don't blame him, after all you had just known each other briefly. What was more bizarre was that you were doing this on a whim, on an impulse behaviour.
"Look Namjoon," You set your beer down on the table with a soft thud, "How many times have you ever gone to your room for a moment to yourself and still felt suffocated?"
"Many times" Namjoon said after pondering over it for a moment.
"Right, you felt suffocated because your room is connected to your idol life. The things you have there, directly or indirectly remind you of it whether you realize it or not. The entire room is connected to your idol life. You need something fresh. Something clean to go back to."
"And that is your place?" He queried, both the eyebrows going up.
"For the time being, you can come back here. Clear your mind here. Stay here for as long as you like unless you manage to find someplace better. My point is, you need a getaway. A proper one. Your room isn't a getaway for you, it's a confinement for you. Sure, it may bring you comfort but it doesn't bring you the relief." You took a sip of a beer and gave him a moment to take it all in.
Namjoon knew you were right, he looked down into the bottleneck of his beer to watch the fizz from the beer rise to the top as if that was the most entertaining and something he had never discovered.
"Well, it's late. I'm going to bed, you are free to stay here and do whatever you want to do." You sighed as you took a large gulp to finish the contents and stood up to place your empty beer bottle near the sink before walking into your room and closing the door behind you.
Namjoon was left in solitude again, this time his thoughts were running in his head much louder than before, one thing that was bugging him wasn't you or what you just did but something else. It was the lack of pictures in your place. This place of yours lacked the feeling of someone who had things to cherish like pictures, plants or anything of emotional value. The place was minimal, clean almost like a hotel. In other words, it lacked a home feeling, which Namjoon didn't mind since he was used to it but it was strange to him when knowing that someone actually lives in it and it is not a hotel room. Strange because every time he went over other people's house, they always had something of emotional value or sentiment up in the house. Except you, and he was intrigued by that. Namjoon stood up with the beer bottle clutched in his hand and he took a better look at his surroundings.
Living room and the kitchen was nothing short of clean and it looked a lot like how a place would appear as in pictures of house advertising. The living room however lacked a TV, most living rooms would have a TV. There were absolutely no decoratives, shelves were empty. I mean why would someone have shelves and have nothing on it, not even books? Or even at least papers maybe from your workplace. Your place consisted mainly of the colours grey and white. The furniture was grey with a bit of white and black. If it was not for the grey and black, the whole place would have been blindingly white. Then Namjoon walked back to the entrance, there was a set of 3 drawers and again, just out of curiosity, Namjoon pulled out the top drawer and it was empty. Same applied to the other 2 drawers, 'Does she just have one pair of shoes?' Namjoon wondered looking back at the door where he had placed his shoes right next to her. Most people would have more pairs of shoes stored somewhere, so then why was an empty drawer here?
He closed the drawers gently to avoid making any sounds that could wake you up and went to the other bedroom and bathroom that you had told him about earlier. Bathroom was a bit better, it at least had a grey rug at the bottom of the bathtub and soap dispenser by the sink to wash hands. There was even a mug, the mug had a toothbrush in plastic wrapping. That meant it was new, 'Had she planned all of this in advance?' Namjoon wondered, but then considering how freakishly clean and stark this place was, Namjoon felt that maybe you never used this bathroom and bedroom so you probably kept it as it is for in case some guest comes by and decides to crash. That thought seemed to be based on very little of what he had seen but it was plausible.
He then closed the door of the bathroom and headed to the bedroom that he could use. It was too much like a hotel, there was even a computer desktop, specifically an IMac on a table in front of a window across the bed, 'Who has that kind of money and leaves it there?' Namjoon wondered, suddenly his first assumption of you planning this in advance maybe a bit more plausible now, but then again he did lose his airpods several times and bought it again nonchalantly. But the kind of person you were, he still didn't believe it. The bed was untouched, blankets were neatly tucked in and pillows had no signs of usage and were still full as a brand new would have been. With a deep sigh Namjoon simply set the beer bottle on the desktop table and fell back into the bed.
The bed was really soft and he felt his eyes closing, sleepiness washed over him again.
