Your shoes hit the concert of the pathway rhythmically as you strut down campus.  The music you're listening to aiding your confidence. Walking down this campus you need all the confidence you can get. You're not as fashionable as the girls around, so you need confidence to keep up. You don't feel the need to be fashionable anyways. Most girls do it for the guys, but It's just guys who spend their time in lame circles smoking weed and shit, don't even have a stable source of income. Nothing special to dress up for.
"But you should still try something new" the person you've been avoiding for three weeks now said to you.
You've been dodging jungkook like the plague recently. Hiding in your room for as long as you can when he's downstairs with your brother.  Wearing a large hoodie to hide your face when you're in public, not like it does much jungkook probably knows that hoodie. Or even using another route when going home just incase he might spawn somewhere on the road. You even went as far as turning off your phone at night, knowing that's the time jungkook mostly texts you.
Ever since that night in the kitchen.
"I won't tell as long as we keep fucking"
He honestly has the audacity to blackmail you. You  should've told him to fuck off, but you didn't. Instead you agreed.
Sigh.
It's not like you regret saying yes, its just the thought that jungkook might tell on you once he gets tired of you freaks you out. It's possible for him to grow tired and you know that,  he's got so many options. You're nothing special to him, though it does feels like you mean something when he has his hands all over you. Whispering how much time he has before your brother's back. Usually 30 minutes.  And he sure does make sure that time is used wisley, having you in all kinds of posi-
Beep.
You don't turn to look at the source of your distraction.  But in your peripheral vision you see a car slow down next to you. You walk a little faster hoping it's not him. It is, his voice tells you that.
"You can't ignore me forever" his voice is muffled by the music that's playing through your ears, but you can tell that smooth cheeky voice through whatever sound.
You sigh and roll your eyes. You've been caught, no running now.
You muster up the courage to finally speak head still faced forward.
"What do you want jeon" you speak nonchalantly.
"Oooh, were using last names" he says feigning a scared tone. You scoff at him.
"Why don't you come to my place so we can hangout" he says one hand on the steering wheel and the other arm against the window frame elbow out the window. He's eyes don't leave your figure that doesn't seem interested him but he knows otherwise.
"No"
You can hear him sigh as his car slows down even more and so do your steps, unconsciously.
"I guess I'm going to have to text him" you stop in your tracks as jungkook threatens to pull out his phone.
"Or maybe I should just call" he looks at you as if asking which one he should chose. He's so annoying.
You finally turn to him and speak "Don't you dare" you warn.
"Get in then" he looks forward wanting you to get into his car. He must think he's in some 80s movie with the way he's sat in his car. You've been avoiding jungkook for a reason and you can't let your efforts be blown away, but damn he makes it so hard to say no.
"Put your seat belt on" he says as you slam his car door shut. You then give him a i-was-going-to glare.
Soon his car's on the main road as you both sit in silence.  You try to distract your mind by staring at the moving objects but your mind still can't move from the man sat comfortably with his hand on the wheel. He looks like he wants to say something but's thinking it through.
"How was class?" He finally spits out, clearing the silence.
"It was okay" you say falling back into awkward silence.  Why is it so awkward all of a sudden between the two of you. Is it the unspoken tension. Where is it even coming from you wonder. For you maybe it's the unanswered  question of why jungkook would still want to fuck you. And for jungkook maybe its the fact that you've been ignoring him.  He couldn't help himself bit wonder if he crossed the line with his demand from that night. Did he make you uncomfortable? Did he fuck it up? He couldn't help but wonder these things,  he should've just asked you. But again how would've that made him look.
"Did you miss me?" He turns to look at you shortly catching you rolling your eyes making him grin.
"Why would I do that?" You spit
"Remember that call" you cringe at the thought. You accidentally butt dialed jungkook and when he called you back you clarified.  You and jungkook only call each other when you wanna meet up, so when you butt dialed him you were afraid he might get the wrong message. But after his few teasing comments he let it go. Not completely though.
"It was an accident I told you" you whine complaining.
"On purpose? an accident?" He takes a turn "there's a very thin line"
You scoff. Maybe he is right. You kinda wish he fought a little harder on that call.
" 'Kay" is what is he told you when you said it was really a mistake.  You were playing hard to get, couldn't he tell?  Even if you were ignoring him you still missed him. Just the physicals though.
-
You're leaning against jungkook's kitchen counter as he re-enters his kitchen, after getting a change of clothes.  You wish you could also have a change of clothes, these just smell of your lecture and you really don't want to be reminded of that.
"You should stop leaving your shit here" he says handing you something. when he walked in you didn't notice the little lip balm he was holding. He stretches his had out so you can get it but you just stare at it analysing the brand and the flavour. He nudges his hand so you can get it but you shake your head and he twists his face confused. Your facial expression is kinda fallen showing the disturbance.
"That isn't mine" you speak feeling a nudge at your chest. "I don't use that brand or that flavour"
Jungkook sighs realising what he's done.  But his next statement doesn't show any concern for a disturbed you.
"I guess yuji left it here" he shrugs turning around and placing the cylindrical tube, that's now your enemy, on the counter next to you. You just wanna pick it up and throw it against his head. Why are you even mad? You know what you and jungkook are, you shouldn't feel this way. Maybe it's the way jungkook doesn't care and goes back to talking like there isn't tension in your chest.
And cause you don't want to make a fuss about things and make shit awkward you decide to follow suit and just talk like you don't have a lump in your throat. Iys not like its his job to care or know what you're feeling.
"Want something to drink?" He asks back facing you as he stares into the fridge.  Why did he even bother putting on a shirt, that see through shirt isn't hiding shit. And your eyes can't help but wonder. Wonder across from shoulder to shoulder.  Wonder around the muscles that flex cause he's now bending slightly to see what's at the bottom of the fridge. Wonder down his spine to his tail bone where his Calvin klein band peeks out. Wonder,  wonder, wonder and too much wondering.
Jungkook turns to look at you for the answer and when he catches you drooling he chuckles.
"Got a thing for backs?" He asks sarcastically.  He's body is now turned to you and he places the canned drink next to you, since you haven't answered him he'll just give you what he wants. You clear your throat and straighten yourself awkwardly,  eyes wondering away from him now.
"I wasn't looking at you" you lie trying to save your already gone self respect.
"Yea right? And I'm still a virgin" you chuckle at his childishness.  Can he blame you, he's got a great back. And you haven't seen it in a while. Those long hours at the gym finally showing through.
You both stand against the counters sipping your drinks from time to time. Jungkook stands by the counter opposite from you so you have a direct sight of his body.
"You should stop giving me rides" you say and jungkook's eyes meet your face confused. What's wrong he wants to ask but it sounds too intimate,  so he let's his eyes ask the question.
"Don't you think someone will think there's something going on?" You say voice a little timid. Your eyes fling to jungkook when you hear him release a chuckle.
"Everyone one knows I'm your Brother's friend, so giving you a ride shouldn't be that big of an issue" he shrugs off your concerns.
"I get that but people still talk" jungkook nods acknowledging.
"But do you know your Brother's the one who asks me to give you rides" he starts.
"The ones with my car atleast" he say with that cheeky grin of his. You get what he's saying and you throw him a stop it glare. Which he does as he adjusts himself against the counter and takes a sip of the liquid.
You calm from your chuckles "I didn't know he asked you to do that"
Jungkook doesn't say anything as you continue to speak.
"But still I don't  think we should be seeing each other whilst in public " Your body goes back to being freaking anxious. The way you say it makes jungkook laugh, and there he goes again diminishing your serious concerns.
"Y/n you're acting like I have my hands on you when we're outside" he's right.  Why are you making it so dramatic, its not that big of a deal but you still don't want any stories going around. The last thing you want is rumours and giving your brother ideas which aren't true, well they are but your don't want him to take it into consideration.
"I know but still..." your eyes fall as you stare at your feet against jungkook's floor. Pretty floor.
Jungkook understands your concern, rumours spread like wild fire on your campus. If you didn't have the 'jungkook is my Brother's friend' card to protect you, you're sure the both of you would be under heat right now. Mainly you cause everyone would want to know who jungkook might be fucking. In these situations no one really cares about the guy they just wanna find the girl and see if her looks match up.
Yours don't , that's what you think. During this time that you've been hiding from jungkook,  you've been thinking about the fact that jungkook is outta your league. Your not unattractive in anyway, and you know that especially when jungkook's expressing to you how attractive you are,  though you think it's the sex talking. You aren't unattractive,  it's just that you aren't someone who stereotypically people would think jungkook is sleeping with. You've never brought these concerns to jungkook cause he honestly doesn't need to know. Would he even care.
Though he has told you countless times that you are very beautiful, in many ways. By the way he looks at you, the ways he touches you and the way he kisses you. Its just something that you need to work on by yourself and you aren't gonna drag jungkook into it.
Jungkook watches how your fingers tap against the counter and he knows you're anxious. So to comfort you he walks to you and puts his hand over your hand , stopping it from racing. Your eyes move to the man standing over  you and when your eyes meet he can see that you're overthinking. His hand is warm over yours, you don't bother to turn to look at it knowing it's safe under his hold. It's calms you how Jungkook knows how to help you when you're overthinking, even though he doesn't know what you're overthinking about all he cares is that you realise you don't need to especially if it's about him.
"That's okay... if that's what you want " he reassures. You nod.
Jungkook doesn't know why he comforts you or feels the need to, maybe it's the fact that he's your Brother's friend so he feels that kind of need to protect you from whatever. Otherwise he doesn't know why he does it.
He watches how your lips pout, they're slightly tinted red, he knowsit's probably your lipstick, and he's always wanted to tell you how good you look with it on. And that whatever flavour you use tastes so good. He just wants to taste it once more and remove that pout and sad look from your lips. And so he does.
But before your lips meet he's interrupted by the buzzing of his phone against the counter.  He doesn't give any facial expression you can read, not even a hum or a sigh. He picks up the phone quickly wanting the call to end so he can kiss you. He should've just turned off his phone.
He looks at the caller Id and sighs internally.
It's yuji.
Jungkook gives you one last look. "I'll be back" he says as you nod and he walks out. You're left wondering if its your brother who's called him, and your heart is beating quickly. What if someone told him you got into jungkook's car? And he's calling jungkook to know where you are cause you're not home. Many theories run through your mind and you're gonna be fucked if any of them involve your brother.
You're theories are proven wrong when you hear Jungkook say,
"Yuji I told you I can't come today"
Yuji? You've heard that name on campus before. But for what. You think for a while then it clicks.
It's the girl that's always on jungkook, you've heard many rumours about them, which you've never told Jungkook about before cause its not necessary. He's probably heard all of them before and if he has he's never talked about them with you, that's not what your relationship is about.  Its kinda stupid to call it a relationship but you need a word for it and that's the only one that comes to mind.
You've heard some crazy rumours about jungkook and yuji. Some are that jungkook is obsessed with her and won't let her get into a relationship and that he beat up a guy she was chilling with, which sounds like bullshit and unlikely. You don't know jungkook enough to know if he's the jealous kind, you haven't gotten a chance to touch those waters yet. And if he is you aren't sure if you wanna touch those waters. You've thought about jealous jungkook whilst in bed before, helps you get off, but you don't think you'll ever get to know if he is. Cause your relationship isn't anything serious.
Another rumour is that yuji is the one obsessed with jungkook,  this one's more likely. Cause she can't bare seeing him talk to another girl or even mention another girl's name. You heard through the grapevine that she got a girl expelled for even threatening to fuck jungkook. Does she even have the power to do that? Well her family is well off, like very much. So maybe it is possible, childish but possible. It's funny how you learn everything through the grapevine.
Another rumour you heard, this one is the most shocking. You heard that jungkook got yuji pregnant and she had to abort it. Why does this girl bother jungkook so much, it bothers you so much. You just wish you could tell her to leave him alone, but you aren't in any position to do so.
Anyway,  you didn't want to believe the rumour but it was so hard when during that week jungkook was acting off. He never hangout with your brother or even responded to any one of your calls. You didn't want to bug so you left it. But the question ate at you every time, especially when you were worried about jungkook.  And shortly during that week jungkook had went out of town and when he returned he told your brother that he went to his parent's place. Seems like it was a good move cause he came back to his normal self, laughing and joking with you.
"Missed me?" He said the first time you talked to him after all that happened.
You really wanted to ask him what the actual fuck happened. Were the rumours true? Why was he acting so off and reserved? But its not like its any of your business.  So you didn't,  you just let the questions eat at you. You're just here for the fucks and gags.
After that one you stopped listening to the rumours, not any other one. Whether about jungkook, students or the ghosts on campus at night. You don't listen to any of them. Cause after the jungkook ones you were kinda disturbed,  out of it if you can say. You don't even know why, you just didn't like how people go around talking about others lives. Especially if it's someone you know.
Jungkook's call seems to be taking long and you're getting bored and tired. So you decide to look around his kitchen, throwing your now empty can into the bin on your way around. It's not like you've never been in his house, you have but when you have you've been too carried away by his lips and touches that you didn't even bother looking around. And even after you're done you're too carried with getting out of his house and rushing home. You've never spent a night in jungkook's House.
"You should get home before your brother gets suspicious" he says shirtless laying on the bed chest still sweaty from your deeds. He watches as you get dressed. You know that'd he'd ask you to go home, so you never even bother to stay longer.
"Let me call you a cab" he says reaching for his phone and the sheets covering his manhood move slightly.
"it's okay I've already called one" you knew that this would happen so you called a cab already. Always be prepared.  He doesn't walk you out to your cab, just says he's goodbyes and tells you to greet your brother for him, which is a cheeky joke he likes to make.
Whilst in the cab you wonder why it bothers you that jungkook isn't so affectionate afterwards. You kinda wished he'd atleast walk you out to the cab, you understand why he doesn't drive you home. But he could atleast walk you out to the door or even give you a little goodbye kis- you don't even know why you think of these things, it's the silence that encourages your thoughts.
Shit.
You grunt and curse at the pain in your toe, you just hit your toe on the cupboard. It hurts so bad and you hope jungkook didn't hear the sound or even your now wearing out grunts and curses. After you're done looking after your toe you decide to open cupboard right above your head. It's labelled 'MARMALADE' so that catches your attention even more cause its the only labelled cupboard.
Your hand grabs the handle gently and you open the cupboard. Once you do your eyes are met with the numerous glass bottles filled with an orange jam like substance.  Must be marmalade like the label said, but why does he have marmalade and why so many bottles.
You grab one carefully making sure not to let it slip and fall, the last thing you want Is to break something in jungkook's house when you don't even know how he'd react.
You play around with the glass jar admiring the orange colour and sweet citrus smell, you don't like fhe citrus smell but it does smell good. You're lost in the brightness of it that you don't hear jungkook enter.
"Sorry that took long" you're snapped out of it when you hear his voice.
"Just got a call from..."
"Was it my brother?" You ask
"No"
"Then you don't have to tell me anything" you don't even know what he was going to say but you don't need to know. He hums and mumbles a 'you're right'
He places his phone back on the counter.
"I see you've found my marmalade" he says nodding towards the bottle. You didn't even realise you still had it in your hands. You chuckle.
"Oh yeah found a bunch of them"
"Hope you don't mind " you look at him for assurance. And he shakes his head no.
"Looks like you like marmalade" you say placing the bottle down.
"Mhm"
"Why?" You ask. It might be digging too much in his personal life but you're just curious. It doesn't matter if he answers or not....
"It just tastes good" safe answer he thinks.
You look back at the bottle picking it up and analysing it once more.  You didn't notice before but now you realise that it's brandless.
"What brand is it?"
"I make it myself " he walks towards you and stretches his hand so that you give the bottle to him.
"Explains why you have so many of them"
"Wanna taste?" He lifts his brow to you but you shake your head.
"I don't really like marmalade" you confess and jungkook lifts he's hand over your head to open the cupboard. He places the jar back in its place and with his hands over your head he looks down at you and you up at him. And says in a whisper...
"Well you're looking at it like you wanna have a taste" he stares at you longingly trapping you between him and the cupboard. You feel small under his longing gaze. You love how even just by the way he stares at you you can feel the heat travel your body. Before he moves away he licks his lips that you've been staring at hoping he'd kiss you and like he can tell he chuckles.
"So you wanna try it or no?" He stares at you the fridge door open and an opened marmalade jar in his hands. He waits for your response.
It's not like you're allergic to it, why would hurt just to try it. Plus jungkook looks like he really wants you to try it.
"Sure" you agree, "couldn't hurt"
He closes the fridge and grabs a tiny spoon. He's now standing in front of you spoon digging into the jar, and when you see him scoop a large amount you hum in disagreement.
"What?" He looks at you
"That's too much" he looks at the spoon.
"It's not too much" it is too much.
"It is jungkook"
"Come on, you can take it." He moves closer to you moving the spoon to your lips. You move your head.
"It's too much"
"Come on baby you've taken much more" you scoff.
"That wasn't jam jungkook " he chuckles knowing it's true. "That's going to be too sweet" you nod towards the spoon.
"Plus I told you I don't like it"
He sighs. "Come on take it for me. You won't eat everything"
You look at him with a raised brow.
"Please"
It's not that big of a deal so you nod and open your mouth slightly, jungkook smiles and brings the spoon to your mouth. The sweet jam meets your lips and some goes onto your tongue. You can immediately taste the sweetness and citrus flavour.
Jungkook tilts the spoon wanting you to take everything. He's such a liar. When you realise what he's doing you start to hum for him to stop, but he doesn't, it amuses him actually. You turn your head away and in your struggle you cause some marmalade to fall off the spoon and into your open chest. You whine jungkook's name as you look at the drop of jam on your chest.
"Look at what you've done y/n" he says in a lecturing tone. Your eyes widen as you see him bend to your chest , his hands on both sides of you holding the counter.
"W-what are you doing?" You know what he's doing, and it makes your chest rise up and down at a quick rate. And now that he's by your chest you're sure he can see it.
"I'm cleaning your mess" he says and the way his eyes watch yours from under you makes you push your body close to him. He sinks in lower his breath now on your chest. His sleek tongue meets your skin licking the jam right off you, you lean your head back giving jungkook more room to roam.
"Sweet" he mumbles against your skin as he moves up to place a wet kiss on your neck.
"So how does it taste" he asks moving back to watch your flushed face. You even forgot about the taste of the marmalade, only remembering how jungkook felt against your skin.
"Uhh" you search your brain to see if it remembers what the marmalade tastes like. And after a hard fight to get through the thoughts of jungkook you remember.
"Not bad. Seeing that you made it yourself" he watches your face as you speak, finding joy in the way you say things.
"But i still don't like it " jungkook moves away from you, and you can physically feel the feeling of his loss of presence from you. You watch him as he takes back the jar.
"You will one day"
You roll your eyes at that.  Nothing can make you like marmalade.
You and jungkook talk about somethings, nothing to deep. Just some Harry Potter stuff. You go back and forth arguing about some situations in the movies and you laugh at the opinions he has and he scoffs at some of yours.  You never knew jungkook liked Harry Potter nor did he know you liked it too.
"I could've had voldemort on his knees in he first movie" you roll your eyes
"Oh please. You wouldn't survive."
"Have you even these?" He proceeds to flex his biceps for you and you burst out laughing showing him your pretty smile. Has he ever told you,you have a pretty smile. He joins you in your fit of laughter.
As you calm down from your laughter and have nothing else to laugh about or say, your mind begins to wonder why jungkook brought you here. You know why he brought you here but you don't know why he's taking so long with it, you thought licking marmalade off your bare chest was a perfect opening but he didn't use it. Most of the time it doesn't take long before both of you are at eachother. But today he's taken so much time that you've even gotten the time to talk about your personal hobbies, likes and dislikes. Which you haven't done before.
But you have enjoyed just talking with jungkook. Getting to know somethings you didn't before like he can make and likes marmalade or that he also likes Harry Potter.  Its nice to just talk like this. But you want to know why he brought you here still. Does he just wanna chat?
"Anywany why did you bring me over " a little straight forward but you want to know.  You don't wanna put your mind or any other vital organ in the wrong places.
"To hang out of course" he doesn't convince you and you keep a raised brow at him while he smiles suspiciously at you.
Hangout you did do. If you're talking about lips then yes you guys did hangout. You knew he didn't bring you here for fun and you're kinda happy that he got on with it immediately after you asked why he brought you to his home. You missed his touch, soft sweet touches like his marmalade.
And afterwards you left just like every other night. But tonight your thoughts are filled with wondering what other things jungkook might like.
-
You were chilling in the living room when jungkook came over to visit your brother.  He tried to kick you out of the living but you refused.
"You found me here" you say. Your brother, kept  bickering with you but you stood your ground. You notice jungkook chuckle at your bickering.
"It's fine maybe she's watching a good movie " jungkook says pointing to the movie you're watching and stopping your pointless arguing.  Your brother sighs giving in, why didn't he just do that instead of arguing with you.
"Brought these" he hands you a bag and your brother a bag.
"What's this?" Your   brother asks.
"Just some snacks"
"Thanks bro"
You can hear them talk in the background as you open the bag jungkook gave to you. Immediately you open it the citrus smell hits your senses and you scoff. You reach into the bag and pull out a sandwich in a clear zip lock bag. You analyse the substance in-between the bread.
Scoff.
You roll your eyes at jk and find him looking at you,  winking when your eyes meet. You roll your eyes and scoff placing the bag onto your side. He really thinks you're gonna eat it, or make you like it. Instead you take the drink that was in the bag and take a sip of that instead.
You don't pay much attention to your brother and jungkook's conversation, your eyes focused on the screen. But your casually steal glances of jungkook hoping he doesn't notice.
Your attention is caught when you hear your brother mention a girls name. Seems like he's talking about a girl he has his eyes on. They keep talking about it for some time until you hear your brother say.
"What's the name of the girl you're fucking?"
The air in your lungs is swept out when your brother asks that question.  Is he talking about you? If he was he wouldn't look this chilled about it.  But you still feel kinda anxious cause what if jungkook says your name. So you look at him but he's eyes aren't on you but you feel like that grin on his face is directed to you.
"Yuji" your brother exclaims remembering the name. Jungkook turns to look at you with that smirk and watches how your face relaxes. He chuckles at that and turns back to your brother.
"Yeah that's her name"
"How is she"
"She's okay I guess. It's not like we're dating for me to care" jungkook leans back onto the couch.
"You and your fuckboy ways"
"Don't say it like that" jungkook chuckles "I'm not a fuck boy.  I just don't commit"
Your brother gives a whatever-you-say hum. You start to feel a little awkward and weird in the room. You know jungkook doesn't commit but being reminded of it causes a pinch in your chest. You know better than to think anything more of what you and jungkook do. But it still kind of affects you.
"You can keep your badboy persona as long as you leave my sister out of it" you roll your eyes, why does he treat you like a child. It's so irritating.
"Don't worry..." jungkook turns to look at you, gaze filled with nothing but mischief.
"I'd never fuck or date your sister"
-
"You're bad for not eating my sandwich."
Jungkook speaks through your speaker. His voice low and you know he's laid back on his bed shirtless while a movie plays in the background.  You know cause onetime on a video call he was in that same position,  very distracting position.
"But you knew I wouldn't eat it" you say playing with the strings of your pajama shorts.
"Yes but I had hope you never hated me enough to not eat it"
You can hear him shuffle against his sheets. You chuckle
"You put your hope in the wrong places jeon"
As simple as your words are and unbeknownst to you, those words find a way to jungkook's heart.
You were right he did put his hope in the wrong places,  he did it so many times and foolishly that he swore to himself he'd  ever place his hope anywhere again.
"Gone silent?" he didn't even realise that until you spoke.
"Fuck no.."
"You just talk a lot. Was hoping you'd shut up"
You laugh cause you know he's just joking with you.
"I'll never shut up"
"If I was there you would " you can hear his cheeky and playful tone. If he was here you'd definitely shut up, even from across the phone jungkook's words always seem to find you and cause a swarm of butterflies to swarm in your stomach.
"Fuck off: you manage to say trying to hide the excitement caused by his words.
"Wanna come over"  and the butterflies are buzzing at this point. You wanna say yes but you remember his statement earlier and you take this time to tease him.
"After you told my brother you'd never fuck his sister "
Jungkook's low and deep chuckle follows after and you feel the ripples it causes in you.
"What can I say...I'm a good liar"
"How do you think I'm able to keep our little secret?"
You roll your eyes at his cheeky and proud tone. He's so full of himself.
"I'll be there soon" you hear Jungkook hum before you cut the call and prepare an excuse like; I'm going to one of my friend's house. You don't even need to tell your brother where you're going but you do it just so he knows you're okay.
-
"I'd never fuck or date your sister"
"I'd never fuck or date your sister"
"I'd never fuck or date your sister"
Thay phrase has been playing on your mind quite often lately,  you don't even understand why. Would jungkook really never date, did he say that seriously or was he saying that just for your brother. You know jungkook doesn't date but if he did, Would he date you? That's all you wanna know it's not like you care but you just want to know if you're date-able in jungkook's eyes. That's all you wanna know. That all.
"So you won't eat my marmalade sandwich but you'll eat that " you hear a voice speak and you don't even have to turn to know who it's for. Instead you turn your eyes to what you assume the voice is talking about. A chocolate donut.
"Just tastes professionally made" you say finally turning to the man standing by the table. He's in black sweats and a black hoodie. He always looks so good in that hoodie.
"These hands are professional babe... and you should know that"
You scoff at that and wonder what he's doing here.  Since when does jungkook come to the café on a weekday.
"Maybe my marmalade isn't good?" he pouts. You know he's sad look is just a facade, jungkook never gets emotional around you and you're not sure how you'd handle it cause jungkook always seems like an emotionally well put together person and you admire that. He doesn't let things get to him or atleast he doesn't show it.
"Your marmalade isn't bad. I told you I just don't like marmalade" you take a sip of your coffee as jungkook watches you intently. His mind slips into a thought and he smirks at it before speaking.
"Why don't I show you how to make it and maybe you'd like it after" he straightens his figure making him appear even taller than he did before. Why is he so head in about making you like marmalade.
"At my place tonight" he says winking at you causing to smile.you wonder if he genuinely wants to teach you or its just an excuse to do your little shenanigans. You're still thinking about what he's just said and before you respond you're interrupted by a soft feminine voice calling out jungkook's name. He turns his to eyes the girl who latches herself onto jungkook's arm.
She smiles up at him and he smiles back at her.
"Okay maybe not tonight...but I'll text you when"
The smile you had on your face had been wiped off at this point. You didn't notice but you were glaring at the girl, if looks could kill she'd be dead. You're not sure what emotion is triggered in you but you know its not anything friendly. You were excited about the idea of going to jungkook's tonight and you were gonna tell him yes, after playing hard to get a bit. But this long haired mini skirt wearing chick has ruined it. Looking at her description, she must be yuri. Doesn't make anything better.
You hadn't responded to jungkook and the nudge on your shoulder reminds you to do so. You nod not saying anything, afraid that if you opened your mouth you'd spew profanities at her, so instead you just nod finally moving your burning gaze off of her. She hasn't noticed your look cause her eyes are either glued to her phone or to jungkook.  She can't even bother to introduce herself. BRAT .
"OKAY see ya marmalade girl " he says walking away with the girl arm in arm with the food they just ordered.
You scoff. And after you do that you catch yourself. Why does it bother you so much, you don't care you shouldn't care. It just makes you a little mad,  just a little.  But you shouldn't feel this way, it doesn't matter whatever you feel, jungkook is never gonna change his ways and you should get used to that if you're gonna keep fucking jungkook.
Sigh.
You wish you hadn't said yes. Maybe it would've been better if your brother found out than you having to feel these unknown and unspoken emotions. Which are one-sided.
-
You've been unconsciously and unwilling waiting for the text jungkook promised to send you. Well he didn't promise but it did feel like one.  He doesn't even need to call you over, it's okay if he's changed his mind. That's what you've been telling yourself.
Your heart has been on the edge this week, especially when you hear that little notification sound. But after two weeks, felt like forever, he finally seemed to remember his promise and texted you.
"Wash your hands" he says to you. "I don't know what you've been touching" you roll your eyes at him and glare at him. You should be the one telling him that. Seeing that you've been hearing  about him and yuri together.  You don't even mean to indulge yourself in rumours but you can't help it when you hear jungkook's name especially if it's side by side with a girl's name. Cause you might never know one day that girl's name might be yours and that's a day you dread. Even the thought causes your heart to physically ache.
Jungkook hands you an apron and you admire the little orange whirly pattern on it. Its so cute. Kinda reminds you of what a grandma would have in their kitchen.  You'd never pin jungkook as the type of person who would care about having to wear an apron whilst in the kitchen,  but by the look of things he looks like he takes it very seriously.
"Careful we don't want a bloody marmalade" he says noticing the way your hand slipped when cutting the orange.  You really hoped he didn't notice but he did. You aren't usually the nervous kind in the kitchen in most situations you're usually what jungkook is right now in the kitchen, the teacher. But you do feel nervous under jungkook's gaze currently,  that's what's making you so clumsy. He watches you so closely and you feel kinda suffocated by his presence even though he isn't standing so close to you. He doesn't need to be close to you to make you feel small and vulnerable under him.
"Why do you even like MARMALADE so much" its more of a rhetorical question to tease him for his interest in Marmalade so much.
"I don't know" he starts.
"It's just got a taste I can't find anywhere else" he whispers into your ear, you didn't even notice that he moved his lips to your ear, the waves of his sudden tone sending electric waves to your core. The way he says it so calm and sure almost like he's speaking to you but you know he's just talking about Marmalade.
You muster up the courage to only hum not knowing what might leave your mouth if you opened it. Maybe a plea for jungkook to just bend you over right here over his counter.
"Now that that you're done we can start" you didn't even realise you had finished,  you're pretty sure jungkook watched you peel air for some time before deciding that he was amused enough by your lost look. He can tell what you're thinking, he knows when you get like that. And he loved watching your mind get lost in thoughts cause of him. He loved how your pupils would distance and you'd bite your lower lip thinking about him, he knew you were thinking about him. But he'd never dare tell you he knows cause he's afraid you'd might get shy and stop doing it, he knows you get shy sometimes and he likes it especially when it's him you get really shy for.
But he thinks you're so cute when you get shy cause of him.
Has he ever told you that?
It wasn't long after jungkook set the jam to boil that he had you bent over the counter pounding into you mercilessly. He couldn't hold in the burning feeling inside his lower belly anymore, with the way that shirt is hugging your breasts and the way he's been wondering if you're wearing his favourite panties inside those sweats of yours. You were. He loves these panties he kinda felt sad at the thought of removing them. So he didn't. He rubbed your heat and fucked you with your panties on.
You never knew how much of a turn on it was until now. Being bent over with your panties still on your face against his cold marble counter as he fucks into you.
A taste I can't find anywhere else.
He keeps thinking about that as you clench around him soon milking him for all he's got. Your little whimpers and whines guiding his movements.  He smirks as pride rushes through his veins at your occasional call of his name.
-
"Since when do you like MARMALADE?" Your brother asks you watching as you place the little jar into the fridge.
"I don't like it, jk just gave me some of what w-he made... I'm not even going to eat it" you close the fridge, turning to face your brother who shrinks his eyes at you.
"Did you know jungkook makes marmalade?" You say chuckling remembering your reaction to when you first found out.
"I did " he says not sounding as enthusiastic or excited like you, then you realise you probably shouldn't be so excited about anything to do with jungkook in front of your brother.
"I'd never say this to his face but even though I don't like it, I think it tastes quite good." You shrug in your own thoughts.
He watches you like a detective trying to decipher your facial expression. He doesn't think much of it only wondering why you're getting marmalade from jungkook or how you even got to find out that he makes marmalade.
"Are you hanging out with jk now?" The question comes out sharp and brutal and it snaps you out of your thoughts,  you turn to your brother who has his hands folded in suspicion.
"He just gave me some marmalade. What's the big deal?" You shrug it off hoping he doesn't pry. Did you fuck this up for you and jungkook.
"Don't get too close to him. He might be my friend but he will fuck you over if you get too comfortable" you know he's saying this cause he just cares about you and is trying to protect you. But he doesn't need to protect you from jungkook, you don't think jungkook would fuck you over like that. He might not be the most affectionate or open but you doubt he'd ever fuck you over. He's not like the other fuck boys you know, he's not even a fuck boy in your opinion.
But you do understand where your brother is coming from.
"I'm not even talking to him in that way. I don't even talk to him" your face grows sadder cause your brother is right, you can't put all your trust into jungkook, like you did the others, he might end up fucking you over too.
"That's how it starts. Plus he's my friend not yours" he says coldly as he walks out, his words prick at your heart and you're reminded of your place.
You never actually thought you and jungkook would come this far with your fucking around,  you thought it'd be a one time thing but it ended up not being that.
Do you regret it? No.
You just hate how the after effects feel, the realisation and the effort you have to put in to hide it from your brother. It's been such a burden on you lately on your heart causing you to feel things you can't explain. You just wish jungkook wasn't your Brother's friend. In another universe maybe.
That night while having your nightly thoughts you got a text from jungkook.
[Jk] have you tried it yet?
You were glad that he was the one to text you in that moment especially with the way you're feeling, it's like he knows. But that's what you think he probably doesn't know and is texting you oblivious to your racing mind that always seemed to be calmed down by his presence even though he was the reason why your mind has been going crazy nowadays.
[You] Not yet.
you text back as soon as you can.
[Jk] why not?
[Jk] are you waiting to try it together?😏
And there goes the blush on your cheeks and the butterflies in your stomach.
[You] That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
you hope you sound confident through this text cause you aren't feeling quite like it while sending it.
[Jk] should we the next time we hang out?
Hang out? He honestly shouldn't even call it a hangout cause you do anything but hangout. Maybe he should call it a pending fuck session.
[You] sure that will be great.
you hope you don't sound desperate.
[You] and can you send me a written recipe
you've wanted him to send you one for some time you don't even know why cause you aren't even interested in Marmalade.
[Jk] is marmalade girl interested in making marmalade🤨
You can hear his mocking tone from behind that text and you scoff sending him the rolling eyes emoji.
[You] No
[You] Just wanna know how to just in case
[Jk] just in case what?
You feel the conversation turn a little emotional.
[You] just in case I wanna practice making it and you aren't around.
That's bullshit and you know it, you never plan on making marmalade you just said that cause you don't have an excuse for that message you sent. Its like marmalade is the only way you'll ever get to know more about jungkook and so you're gonna use it. You should honestly take heed of the warnings your brother gave you.
Don't get too comfortable.
Honestly you shouldn't why the fuck do you even want to know more about jungkook. You should honestly just stick to fucking and calling it a night its always been better that way.  You're not sure what other problems might arise from trying to get to know jungkook.
[Jk] I'm always gonna be around y/n
You'd honestly forgotten you were even talking about marmalade so when he said they it made a pull at a usual spot in your heart. A spot you left untouched and bruised.
[You] too sweet, you'll make it spoil
(Its a jam joke) you try and set the scene back to a comfortable and unserious one.
You know jungkook gets the joke when he sends you the laughing emoji
[Jk] I'll send you the recipe

"I will be gone for a while, I have some... 'important business' that I need to take care of. I will be back soon."
'Will be back soon,' he said. Hah, how laughable. You scoffed at your husband's words as you recalled it in your head.
You sometimes questioned your marriage to the Akademiya's Scribe. What did he see in you? What was the reason that made you accept his proposal? Why do you feel clueless about everything? As you recall, you happened to be in the same Haravatat class with him, you started to get close and... all of a sudden, you were married to him. It feels like you have forgotten something, but you couldn't seem to remember.
You yelped when you suddenly felt a strong kick from the baby. "Ow! H-hey little one... You don't like it when mommy's upset, do you? I'm sorry, sweetie. Would walking around help with that?"
When you got up from the couch, you're slowly regretting your decision. Gosh, your back ached and your belly felt so heavy. Nonetheless, you walked around the house for a while, stopping at your front porch.
"Okay, that's enough walking for today. My feet are hurting..." You said to yourself as you sat on one of the outdoor chairs.
The cool breeze lightly grazed your skin, its gentle touch slowly lulling you to sleep.
(Flashback)
Entering the House of Daena, Alhaitham was greeted with a wall of books on his right and left. Walking across the bridge to the main room, he saw how crowded the place was. Alhaitham was slowly regretting his decision, but he desperately needs additional materials for his research. Setting his personal preferences aside, he scoured through bookshelf after bookshelf for materials.
After finding books that might help him in his research, he looked around for a place to sit. As he had seen before, the library was quite crowded, so finding a place to sit wasn't easy. Until he spotted a fellow student from his Darshan sitting by herself.
"Mind if I sit here so that I can finish my research?" he asked the lone student.
"No, not at all. I understand how difficult it is to find a place at a time when the library is busy like this, so I don't mind. As long as you don't bother me."
Alhaitham sat down and was about to start reading his books when he was suddenly intrigued by your work. Several ancient scrolls was laid in front of you written in an unfamiliar script, you looked back and forth at the scroll, to a book, then writing something down on another book.
"I know you said to not bother you, but can I ask you about your work? I've never seen such a script like this before," Alhaitham spoke up.
You looked up, slightly taken aback by his words. "Hm? Oh, sure. I actually haven't seen them before either."
"Oh? Is that so? Then how were you able to acquire such ancient documents? I don't see you ever getting a permit to leave the Akademiya for you to get these scrolls. I see that you also have the appropriate dictionary for it as well."
"Are you suspecting that I've done something illegal in order to get these? Well I'm sorry for bursting your bubble, but these are gifts from my father. He said it's time for me to learn this."
Alhaitham didn't expect that. "Was your father a scholar of the Akademiya?" he asked.
"No, I didn't think so. Or at least, not that I know of."
There was a really awkward silence after you stated your answer. Alhaitham thought of more ways to get more information on you. He was already interested in you.
"Where are you from?"
"I'm from Liyue. Why asking? Does it matter to you to know where I'm from?"
"Yes, it does. These scripts are nowhere near similar to the writing system used in Liyue. And your name is Y/n, right?"
"...Correct."
"That doesn't sound like a Liyuean name either..." he murmured.
"Actually, I didn't expect that an apathetic person like you would know the names of the people around him. You're something else, Alhaitham."
"...The feeling is mutual."
❝Zaleos, the God of Peace ruled over a chain of floating island northwest of Inazuma's Jinren Island called Isles of Etsumi. Once an acquaintance to the Guili Assembly, she fought alongside them during the Archon War despite her pacifist nature. Towards the end of the war, a new threat emerged near the Isles of Etsumi causing Zaleos to return to her homeland. And that was the last thing they heard from her. Zaleos had lost her power after the Archon War. She continued her life as an ordinary human, fell in love with one of her subjects, and hope that her powers will return to her descendants.❞

After finishing with their respective missions, the Traveler, Paimon and Dehya agreed to meet up with the group at the Grand Bazaar. Alhaitham and Cyno were already there.
They discussed the smooth running of their respective missions and had a bit of a fight, dragging Nilou into their plans in the process.
"I... I can't believe my ears! You are truly the bravest and most passionate people of Sumeru, well, that... I've ever met!" she beamed.
"Ahem!" Paimon cleared her throat.
"Oh right, the Traveler and Paimon are not from Sumeru, but you are awesome as well!" Nilou corrected herself.
"Hehe, that's right!"
"I... I must admit that I'm a little scared. But I'll try my best for Lesser Lord Kusanali. If I can somehow use my abilities to help you, then count me in."
"Remember, believe in yourself," Cyno said.
"...Okay! I'll get my friends at the Grand Bazaar to help us tomorrow!"
"Just remember not to say too much. Be discreet," Dehya advised.
"Yep, you got it!"
"All the preparations are done. Now, can we finally conclude this meeting?" Alhaitham spoke up.
"Yeah. Tomorrow, we are going to save a god," said the Traveler.
"So, have you thought up what you'd like to say, boss?" Dehya asked.
"It's hard to believe everything that has happened till now... And our actions will bring change to many things tomorrow."
"Yep yep! It's a grand plan, and we're all super awesome!" Paimon said excitedly.
"That's right, so... Just get a good night's sleep, everyone!"
"Hahaha!" Dehya laughed.
"Well said. A good night's rest before an operation can be the difference between success and failure," Cyno commented.
"...Thankfully, I've had my place to myself recently. It's been nice and quiet."
"Huh?"
"Oh, huh, nothing."
"Alright, let's all go home and get a good night's sleep, so we can be up early tomorrow!" Paimon said.
"Okay, so I guess that means it's time to say goodnight now."
"Yep! Goodnight, everyone."
The group went their separate ways, and Alhaitham walked back to his residence. Strolling around Sumeru City at night is indeed the best. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, accompanied by sounds of nature. Shops and stalls have closed, their owners and merchants have gone home to rest. The children of Sumeru are no longer running around playing with their friends, they are safe in their respective homes drifting off to dreamland. Only members of the Corps of Thirty patrolled around the city.
Arriving in front of the house, Alhaitham saw that the light was still on from the inside. Are you still awake waiting for his return? He took out the house keys and unlocked the front door, locking it back when he entered. You didn't fall asleep in the living room, so he went to look for you in the kitchen.
You weren't there either, there was just some food you left for him when he came home. Alhaitham appreciate the thought, but he didn't want you overworking yourself. So he went to the last place you might be in, which is your shared bedroom.
"Just as I expected, you've fallen asleep," Alhaitham whispered to himself.
He then noticed a pile of folded clothes in the corner of the room. Alhaitham sighed before approaching the bed to pull your blanket over your shoulders.
"Didn't I tell you not to overwork yourself? Stubborn..."
He suddenly became alert when you stirred in your sleep, hugging the pillow you used for support closer to you. Alhaitham was holding his breath, trying so hard not to wake you up. When he was away from the bed, Alhaitham sighed as he stuffed the folded clothes into the closet.
Taking some clothes of his own, Alhaitham took them to the bathroom to freshen up.
(time skip brought to you by le author :P)
Exiting the bathroom feeling clean and refreshed, Alhaitham had changed into a dark green silk robe. He saw that you were sleeping on the right side of the bed but you were sleeping on your left side. So he occupied the left side of the bed.
He watched as your shoulder rise and fall as a manifestation of the air you inhaled and exhaled. For some reason, Alhaitham couldn't fall asleep. He couldn't stop thinking about the big day tomorrow, even though he was already confident that his plan would work. Was he just... nervous?
Without him knowing, Alhaitham's hand mindlessly snaked towards your pregnant belly, hugging you from behind. You stirred in your sleep feeling the lingering touch on your stomach, causing Alhaitham to froze on the spot. After a while, you started to feel comfortable in his arms.
"Huh, you rascal. Quit scaring your husband like that..." he whispered.
Alhaitham playfully kissed the crown of your head and dozed off to sleep.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you woke up as usual. It's just, you wondered about something. Did Alhaitham come home last night? But why is there no sign of his return? You swear you felt someone hug you from behind while you were sleeping, you even felt a kiss placed on the crown of your head.
As you continued to scratch the top of your head, you felt the sudden urge to go to the bathroom.
"P-patient, little one... Please give time for mommy to get to the bathroom first... Ugh..."
After somehow managing to avoid a disaster, you headed to the kitchen to look for signs of his return. Just now when you came out of the bathroom, you realized that the pile of clothes you folded the night before had been put in the closet. Did Alhaitham seriously put them away for you? Or did you put them away last night? But you remembered that you will do it in the morning. Hmm...
When you arrived in the kitchen, you immediately found the evidence you needed. The food you left for him is gone.
"So, you really do care about me. Heh, so much for trying to be sneaky..."
(That afternoon)
"What...?! Alhaitham... is exiled to Aaru Village?"
The General Mahamatra went to visit you that afternoon, telling you what they had done on Jnagarbha Day. You immediately stood up reflexively from shock but regretted it soon after.
"Ah, careful...! We don't want you hurting yourself now..." Cyno said as he sat you back down.
"Thanks, Cyno... But still, he willingly used the Divine Knowledge Capsule during his confrontation with Azar, and got himself exiled... I'm relieved that his radical plan worked but, I don't know how I should feel about this..."
"That's understandable. But knowing Alhaitham, he won't let them arrest him so easily. He probably fought them off and escaped."
"Right..."
You went silent, thinking deeply about your husband's plan. Even after marrying him for so many years, you couldn't understand how his brain works.
You were lost in your thoughts until Cyno said his farewells to you. "I have to go now, Y/n. There's still some things that I need to take care of."
"O-oh, I understand. Thanks for dropping by, Cyno."
The General Mahamatra simply nodded and took his leave. You watched him leave until he's out of your sight, letting out a deep sigh and closed your eyes.
Tumblr media
A few days have passed since the rescue of Lesser Lord Kusanali and your husband Alhaitham was still nowhere to be seen. You didn't even know whether he's home or not, even if he was, he'll get up early to go take care of something at the Akademiya.
After Azar and his accomplices were overthrown, the Akademiya scrambled to nominate and select new sages. Since the sages from Vahumana and Amurta were the only ones remaining, they need to select new sages for the Rtawahist Darshan, Spantamad Darshan, Haravatat Darshan, and the Kshahrewar Darshan.
While you were cooking breakfast in the kitchen, a knock was heard on the front door.
"My dear Y/n! Oh, you have no idea how much I miss you."
"Kaveh, you're back."
The Palace of Alcazarzaray's architect pulled you into a hug, minding your stomach. He then pulled out a bouquet of Sumeru Roses that he was hiding behind his back.
"You know me, as someone who values aesthetics in everything, unlike that husband of yours... I bought you these flowers because they remind me of you. I know they don't match your level of beauty my dear, but I still hope you like them."
"Oh, Kaveh... You shouldn't have... Thank you. But please, think about your own finances."
"No no, I don't mind if they're spent on a beautiful woman like you," Kaveh said as he winked at you.
You sighed in contentment as you brushed Kaveh off, letting him into the house. He took off his cape and sets it down.
"Have you had breakfast? I just made some," you said as you put the Sumeru Roses in a glass vase.
"That sounds lovely, my dear. But I'm afraid I can't have some right now because... working on a project in the middle of the desert has made me feel disgusted. I'm in desperate need of a bath! You go on ahead darling, I'll soon be joining you."
Kaveh went to use the guest bathroom, leaving you alone in the kitchen. You grabbed two plates, one for yourself and one for him.
As you were just about to scoop up some Aaru Mixed Rice that you cooked earlier, you felt something trickling down your legs.
"Hm? What was tha... Oh no... No, no no no no no. Not at a time like this."
You kept denying the fact that you have gone into labor. But soon, you have to accept the reality as you felt a strong contraction hit you.
"Argh! Oh, this is bad... Kaveh?!" You called out to Kaveh in a panic but considering that he was in the bathroom, he wouldn't hear you. So you were forced to suffer alone until Kaveh came to save you.

After the Traveler and Paimon talked to Nilou at the Grand Bazaar, they headed to the Akademiya to confirm Alhaitham has received Nilou's invitation. By asking an Amurta student by the name of Geoff, they found out that he was in the House of Daena.
Entering the colossal library that stands at the center of the Sumeru Akademiya, the Traveler and Paimon approached the Scribe but stopped when they saw him talking to another person.
"Oh, he's over there! But it looks like he might not have time for us..." Paimon said.
"He's already talking with someone else."
They watched him bicker with a blond man who now they know as Kaveh.
"Forget what's going on with the Akademiya, haven't you been busy with your construction project? Tell me, when are you going to build yourself a mansion?" Alhaitham asked.
"Don't get me started... I get angry just thinking about it," Kaveh grumbled.
"So, what great building did our master architect work on this time?" Alhaitham said sarcastically.
"Like I need to tell you! Keep your nose out of my business," Kaveh retorted.
"No, I think we deserve to know. Where were you when Sumeru needed you most?"
"I was in the desert for a large project, but considering Haravatat's utter ignorance of architectural and aesthetic matters, you probably wouldn't understand. Which is truly unfortunate! I can only pity the man who doesn't understand the first thing about beauty and romance. Unlike a true..."
Kaveh was just about to continue talking when suddenly he had fully processed Alhaitham's words. "Hold on, wait a second, what do you mean by 'when Sumeru needed me most'?" he asked.
"Well, while you were out fiddling around in the desert, many people came together to save Sumeru from a crisis. All you really need to know is that Azar and all his accomplices have all been overthrown."
"Hah, and you think I'd believe that? What nonsense are you talking about?"
"It's no skin off my nose if you don't believe me. It's not like my Darshan was the one trying to apply for funding from the Grand Sage. Yours, though, on the other hand..."
Kaveh seems to be fed up with his underclassman's hypocrisy. To the extent that he said, "You know what? Then I shall ask you this. Where were you when your wife needed you the most?"
"What are you on about, Kaveh?" Alhaitham asked, slightly taken aback.
"Just this morning, I carried your wife to the Bimarstan because she has gone into labor. I thought you as her husband would be there right beside her, supporting her every step of the way. But no, you're here reading that stupid book of yours in the House of Daena! Good Celestia, I don't even know what she saw in you to the point of agreeing to marry you!"
Although his face doesn't show much, Alhaitham was surprised to see the way Kaveh lashed out at him. Yes, he often bickered with his senior, but not to this extent. It has to do with the person he married, the person he loves. But if he treated you like what Kaveh said, does he really love you?
"I'll ask around! I'm sure someone knows what's going on here. You're dead if I find out you're lying to me."
Kaveh stormed off, leaving Alhaitham alone with his thoughts. The Traveler and Paimon are confused about how to respond to Alhaitham's fight with Kaveh earlier. They decided to approach him anyway.
"Hey, Alhaitham!" Paimon greeted.
"Oh, it's you two. What's the matter?"
The expression on the Traveler's and Paimon's faces were both pitiful, the way Alhaitham quickly put up his emotional walls the moment he talked to them. They talked about many things, from their purpose of coming here in the first place to the appointment of Alhaitham as the Grand Sage. The Traveler and Paimon were curious about the person Kaveh had called his 'wife', but they were reluctant to ask about her.
"By the way, who was that other person just now? Is he your friend?" Paimon asked.
"Do we look like friends?"
"Paimon doesn't know! That's why Paimon's asking!"
"His name is Kaveh, my roommate. You could say he's the representative for Kshahrewar scholars," Alhaitham explained.
"He didn't seem to believe a word you told him," the Traveler commented.
"Which is exactly why he always has so many problems."
"Also Alhaitham, Paimon remembers that Kaveh said something about your wife. Paimon didn't know that an annoying person like you has a wife. Why you never mentioned anything about her? Where is she, and why have we never met her?"
Paimon really went for it, she really asked him about you. Even so, Alhaitham remained silent. Uh-oh, has Paimon offended him?
"..."
"...I never talk about my wife because I don't want her to get involved in my work. You yourself already know how dangerous the things we deal with, so I'm also thinking about her safety," Alhaitham spoke up.
"Wow, Paimon also didn't know that someone like you can be so considerate..." Paimon commented.
"Thanks for your hard work these days," the Traveler expressed their gratitude.
"Such is the work of the Akademiya Scribe."
"Well anyway, no matter how busy you are, since you were our planner, remember to attend the celebration feast in two days!" Paimon reminded.
"All right, I'll see you there."
As the Traveler and Paimon leaves the Akademiya, they saw Kaveh frantically rushing into the building. They didn't think much about it and continued their journey to Port Ormos.
(Back inside the House of Daena)
"Al—Alhaitham!"
Alhaitham was now by the one of the bookshelves, he turned around the moment his senior called his name.
"How can I help you, senior Kaveh?" Alhaitham asked.
"Look, this is no time for your jokes and sarcasm. This is very serious!"
"Oh? And what serious thing do you mean by that?"
"Y/n is missing."
Tumblr media
"What do you mean “yOu DoN't KnOw”? You were clearly here when you registered her and after."
Alhaitham and Kaveh were at the Bimarstan talking to the only intern there, Tamara. Despite multiple attempts to ask her, Tamara still claimed to "not know" about your whereabouts.
"As I said before, Mr. Kaveh, my job is only to record patients' medical records. Since Doctor Zakariya isn't here, I couldn't do much other than following my senior's orders," she proclaimed.
"Ugh, you...! F–Fine, then enlighten me. Who's this senior of yours who ordered you to do such a thing?" Kaveh asked.
"I believe her name is Najwa."
"Najwa?"
They turned around at the sound of another voice. It turned out that another intern doctor named Golshan had just returned from whatever she was doing.
"Didn't she leave Sumeru a long time ago? I heard that she disappeared for a while. What is she doing back in Sumeru?"
"Who exactly is this Najwa?" Alhaitham asked.
"Ms. Najwa was our senior in the Amurta Darshan, she was also a doctor here in Bimarstan. But all of a sudden, she decided to leave Sumeru and we haven't heard from her since then," Golshan explained.
"And what were her orders?" Kaveh took turns asking.
"She ordered me to give medicine to the patient to reduce the pain because the patient was about to be transferred. Doctor Zakariya is out and she said it would be easier if the patient was brought there," Tamara explained.
"That doesn't make any sense at all! Transferring a patient who is in labor is a very big risk! Don't you understand?"
Kaveh went into a fit of rage, he tried to reason with the irresponsible intern doctor. Alhaitham on the other hand, had already planned his next move.
"Nidal!" he called.
A Corps of Thirty mercenary by the name of Nidal was coincidentally walking around the area when he heard the Scribe's call. He quickly rushed towards where Alhaitham was.
"Yes, Scribe Alhaitham? What are your orders?" Nidal asked.
"Gather some of your men, we're possibly looking for a kidnapped person."
(Meanwhile)
"What is the meaning of this? Let go of me!"
You just woke up and found yourself in an unfamiliar place. Your wrists and legs are strapped to the examination table in the middle of the dark, dingy room.
A voice of a man suddenly echoed in the room, sending shivers down your spine
"Quit struggling, darling. Otherwise you might not make it out of here alive."
"Dottore... You still dare to show your face in the land of the God of Wisdom. You better let me go and get out of here!"
"Ooh, feisty... Still, that's not going to help you out of here."
Your body tensed the moment he walked towards you. You glared at him as you watched him circle you with a smile on his face.
"Do you know why you were brought here? Can you guess it?" Dottore asked. "Even if you knew, you wouldn't tell me. Let me do the honor to tell you. It all has to do with your origins, were you the one who inherited Zaleos' powers?"
"I won't hesitate to use that power on you..." you threatened him.
"Hah, even in this condition? Have you forgotten who you're dealing with? There's a reason why I'm second of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers. Do you want me to prove tha--"
"Dottore, sir. I advise you not to put her under more stress, it's bad for the child in her w--"
"Yes yes, I understand, Najwa. Keep an eye on her and let me know when she's progressing."
(Later that evening)
"Ugh, we can finally rest! Seriously, I haven't even had a chance to eat breakfast yet. I'm already starving, luckily Miss Golshan came along and cooked us dinner."
After hours of trying to find you, the group decided to take a break as it was getting dark. They stopped at a campground that happens to have a pot over a campfire, which they used to cook dinner.
"It's nothing, Mr. Kaveh. I can't let you continue on this mission on an empty stomach, you will get sick and become a patient in the Bimarstan then," Golshan said.
"Aww, you're so considerate Miss Golshan. Unlike my anathema of a underclassmen, Alhaitham over here," Kaveh sneered.
"I already planned our mission even when you're panicking back at the Bimarstan earlier. How much more ungrateful can you be?" Alhaitham replied back.
"You didn't even bother to ask your senior whether he had breakfast or not!"
"It's because you didn't tell me."
Golshan sweatdropped at the sight of Alhaitham and Kaveh's bickering. She stopped them by ladling out the Minty Bean Soup into wooden bowls.
"Here you go, Mr. Kaveh. Your Minty Bean Soup," Golshan said as she handed a bowl of soup to him.
"Why thank you, Miss Golshan! You're my savior."
"Here's one for you too, Scribe Alhaitham."
"T-thank you, Miss Golshan..."
They enjoyed a warm and hearty dinner under the starry night sky. Alhaitham hasn't touched his soup, he instead observed the atmosphere around him. He saw members of his group talking, laughing, and joking with each other as they're having seconds of the Minty Bean Soup. Come to think of it, Alhaitham quite liked this kind of atmosphere. He really should have dinner with you more often...
Nidal and a few other Corps of Thirty members have returned with news.
"Scribe, we've found the place."
Tumblr media
It's the night of the celebration feast held to celebrate Cyno's reinstatement as the General Mahamatra. Alhaitham went to attend the event.
Two days have passed since the day of your kidnapping, and now you're safe in the hands of the Bimarstan. When they ventured into the place where you might be being held, you were found in a very concerning condition.
(Flashback)
The group burst into a dark, dingy room with a examination table in the middle. There, they found you lying on top of it. Alhaitham, Kaveh and Golshan were quick to approach you.
"Y/n...! Oh my Archon..." Kaveh gasped.
Alhaitham was quick to take you into his arms, thinking you would react to his touch. But, you laid completely still in his arms. He tried to shake your body and call your name hoping you would wake up, but his efforts were in vain.
"Goodness, she's cold to the touch... and her skin is abnormally pale... We have to run her to the Bimarstan as soon as possib--"
"But what about my niece/nephew? Where are they?!"
Kaveh's shouting triggered the sound of crying which can be heard from the next room. Nidal and his friends slowly approached the door to the room, followed by Golshan and Kaveh. After making sure that the room was safe from the outside, Nidal let them both in. And there, they found something surprising.
Golshan was too stunned to even speak properly, on the other Kaveh hand...
"Guess what Alhaitham said about me being clueless was right after all... I didn't expect them to be twins..."
(Flashback ends)
Yes, you heard it. You and Alhaitham had twin girls. Yay, congratulation! Shouldn't he be happy? Unfortunately, no, he wasn't.
While the others were eating and having fun, Alhaitham barely touched his food. Even though his face doesn't show much emotion, his feelings are mixed inside. Especially after remembering what Golshan said to him when they arrived at the Bimarstan.
"Twins usually take a long time to come out, but your daughters seemed to come out pretty fast. There are ways to speed up labor, but unfortunately your wife's delivery is forced to speed up. This caused her body to be heavily strained. And... I'm afraid she can't recover from this..."
Alhaitham gritted his teeth as he replayed Golshan's words over and over in his head. He didn't even notice the tight grip on the gold rimmed wine glass he was holding.
"Uhh, Alhaitham...? Are you okay? Paimon noticed you were gritting your teeth earlier, are the effects from the Divine Knowledge Capsule still there?" Paimon asked.
Alhaitham looked up from his reverie and saw his friends all looking at him with concern in their eyes. But he brushed it off as if it was nothing.
"The effects from the Divine Knowledge Capsule only lasted for a few minutes. It shouldn't give any side effect to this day. So yes, I'm completely fine. Don't mind me," Alhaitham said before taking a sip of his wine.
His friends are still worried about him, except for one. Cyno, he clearly knew why Alhaitham was behaving that way. Even though he is busy dealing with educational issues in Aaru Village, he knows the guilt that is in the Scribe's self.
"Just let him be," Cyno said curtly.
Although still feeling reluctant to leave Alhaitham alone, they tried to enjoy the feast 'till the moment it ended.
(After the celebration feast)
Cyno headed to the Bimarstan as he exited the door to the left from the Zubayr Theater stage. He immediately spotted Doctor Zakariya talking to Golshan.
"Oh, the General Mahamatra...! What brings you here to our fine establishment?" Doctor Zakariya greeted.
"Is the patient by the name of Y/n here?" he asked.
"She is resting inside. Mr. Kaveh has been staying here since two days ago, seems like he fell asleep too," Golshan informed.
"Alright, thank you."
The door to your room was slightly agape, Cyno peeked inside and saw Kaveh resting his head on the edge of the bed by your leg. He must have fallen asleep. Cyno tiptoed into the room, hoping that he won't wake any of you. But his efforts were in vain, as Kaveh woke up because he somehow felt another presence in the room.
"Oh, Cyno... Hello...! How's the celebration feast?" Kaveh greeted.
"It went just as you expected it would be."
Cyno looked at you then looked at the little bundles of joy sleeping in their crib. He couldn't help but smiled at the way they slept so soundly.
"Has Y/n woken up earlier?"
"She has... Miss Golshan gave us some food considering Y/n also didn't have breakfast the day she was kidnapped. I didn't mean to become such a nuisance to Miss Golshan and the Bimarstan, but there's no point for me to return to Alhaitham's residence. I mean, how could I?"
Cyno listened to Kaveh's pitiful rambling, as if he was drunk. Well he wasn't exactly drunk on alcohol, he was drunk on sadness.
"...Y/n hardly touched her food, I only managed to feed her a few spoonfuls of soup. Where even is Alhaitham? Was he enjoying the celebration feast?"
"He tried, but I saw through the facade he's trying to put up. I saw the guilt and regrets in his eyes, I know he feels bad about what he did," Cyno said.
"Huh, he better be..."
The two men in the room suddenly became alert when you stirred in your sleep. Kaveh moved his chair closer to you while Cyno stood by the end of the bed. Your eyes slowly fluttered open revealing those beautiful (eye color) eyes he adored.
"Y/n... hi...! You still have a lot of soup left. Do you want to continue eating it? I can feed you like before," Kaveh offered.
"Thanks Kaveh, but I'm not that hungry... How's the celebration feast, Cyno? Did you enjoy it?"
"It was good. I quite liked it," Cyno said.
"That's good to hear..."
The room fell silent and the only thing that could be heard was your labored breathing. You really were on your last leg. They couldn't do anything to help you other than keeping you company. They resented their uselessness, and it shows from their wistful expressions.
"Cyno... Could I... ask you of a favor?"
"...What is it?" he asked.
"Would you do the honors of reciting the prayer in the baby's ears?"
"Agh... Are you sure...?" Cyno flusteredly asked.
You nodded as Kaveh had already picked up your older daughter and handed her to the General Mahamatra. The architect even had time to correct the way he held the little one.
"Have you given her a name?"
"No, I... haven't even thought of a name yet..."
The General Mahamatra hummed before bringing your older daughter closer to his lips. "May the God watch over you and protect you."
And it was at that moment Alhaitham came into the room. His arrival was unexpected, but they knew he'll eventually come around. Kaveh scorned at Alhaitham's presence, while you and Cyno were relieved to see him. You could see the way his eyes soften at you waking up and at the twins.
"Alhaitham..."
"Look who finally decided to show up! Don't you understand how frustrating it is for you to just come and go as you please to do?" Kaveh confronted.
"Senior Kaveh, I understand this is upsetting but I beg you to calm do--"
"Oh, so now you're acting respectful to me!? I see you Alhaitham, I see you! I don't know what kind of game you're playing with me, but I advise you to stop it right now! I am getting sick of it!"
Kaveh's outburst was understandable but Cyno cared about your welfare. After returning your older daughter to you, he dragged Kaveh out of the room.
"That's enough, Kaveh. Let's go," Cyno said.
"Whaa-- Ugh, Cyno...! Don't you understand what I'm trying to do?" Kaveh protested.
"It's better we leave them alone so they can talk things over."
For a moment you two were alone, Alhaitham let his emotional wall down as he suddenly pulled you into a hug and pressed his forehead against yours.
"...Don't scare me like that. I thought you would never wake up."
"Not as scared as I was when I heard you were exiled to Aaru Village. I won't forgive you for nearly giving me a heart attack..."
He chuckled at your words before planting a kiss on your forehead. Since you were already holding your older daughter, Alhaitham picked up her younger sister who was still fast asleep in her crib. She was cranky for a moment but quickly calmed down and warmed up to her father's touches.
"...Look at them. Aren't they just the most adorable and precious things you've seen on Teyvat?"
Alhaitham had to agree. It really was the most precious thing he had ever seen. His genuine smile as he looked at his two daughters with such affection warms your heart.
"Have you given them names?" he asked.
"No, I haven't... Actually I was waiting to discuss it with you..."
This caused Alhaitham to feel even worse. How long have you been waiting for him? Why are you so patient with him? He felt he was not worthy of you.
"Hey...! No, don't go to sleep yet... We haven't even started the discussion..."
Alhaitham's desperate calls was heard by the two men who were outside the room, causing Kaveh and Cyno to come back inside. They could see you were struggling to breathe and they couldn't deny the fact that you were dying.
"Alhaitham, please... listen to me. Can you... recite the prayer in our younger daughter's ear?"
He simply nodded as he stood up to recite the prayer. Kaveh has gotten close to you to take turns holding your older daughter in one arm and holding your hand. You watched as Alhaitham does his job like a father, and it made your heart flutter. You couldn't be more proud of him.
'Forgive me Alhaitham, but I can't continue on this journey. My time has come, and my life will come to an end. Don't worry, you have many friends who will accompany you on this journey. Even if you feel lost, they are the ones who will help you and guide you to the right path. I entrust our two daughters in your hands. I love you... goodbye.'
Alhaitham seemed to be in a world of his own, and it was only when he finished reciting the prayer that he realized what had happened. Kaveh sobbed as he begged you to come back signified you have passed.
"No... no...! You can't possibly leave me alone! Please Y/n, I beg of you...! Come back...!"
Cyno tugged at his headpiece to hide the fact his lips were quivering. Alhaitham didn't even realize the expression he has on his face right now. How his eyes widened as tears flowed down his face.
The men in the room were caught off guard as the little ones began to feel the loss of their mother. Alhaitham who was holding his crying younger daughter didn't know how to handle her, when suddenly he saw the way Kaveh handled his older daughter.
"Oh no, no no no... It's okay, my dear... Shhhh... Don't cry, Uncle Kaveh's here... We're in this together, okay? I want you to be strong..."
Kaveh was right. What did you even see in him? Alhaitham began to question everything he thought he knew. Just like you at the beginning of this story.
Alhaitham thinks he doesn't deserve to have received your love and affection.

[Author's Note]: Whew! I finally finished writing the prologue of this series! *cue the author's celebration dance*
I know I stated in my rules that I won't be writing for Alhaitham, but I just couldn't help it. For me, this series is just my way to explore his character :)

Hi I'm new here and I loved your writing, I really liked the stork, can I ask the boys' reaction to a very innocent S/what is an only child with an overprotective father? she's the only thing left of the mother so the father kind of prevents her from approaching the opposite sex and tries to preserve her innocence, it would be funny to see the dorm leaders (Jamil in Kalim's place, please) meet with her future father-in-law.
Yes flashbacks to those overprotective brother headcanons we wrote...
Also were changing the limit to the people we write so Jamil and the others will be on the second part.
Anyway overprotective brother/father supremacy.
Warnings: some spoilers, fem reader as per request of ask but I kept using You/your, bonus scenario
--------
This scenario could actually go in two ways. The first is if s/o and her father both arrive in NRC and both got dragged with the students shenanigans all the while s/o's father thwarting away any suiters. The second is where s/o's father got transported in NRC quite later where s/o already has a significant other, what would s/o's father do exactly?
Tumblr media
-Your father was already unhappy that you were both transported to NRC, but being dragged with the shenanigans of the school? He's going to have blood pressure!
-He was already suffering at the fact that you were friends with the Adeuce duo, always managing to get you into trouble.
-And with Riddle's oberblot? He had a heart attack!as what your father would put it but that was him being overly dramatic
-He dislikes Riddle's anger issues, which is why he vowed to himself to get you away from Riddle(but ofc that didn't work)
-And when your father heard Riddle caught feelings for you? And you also took an interest with Riddle? Boy he got another mini heart attack! He can't leave his precious child with the crimson tyrant now could he?
-Riddle knows how your father dislikes him due to his anger issues and obsession with rules, which is why he tried to tone it down a notch to gain your father's approval.
-If your father got transported later and you managed to have Riddle as your boyfriend then:
*sobs* "I can't believe I was too late to stop my darling daughter from keeping her innocence 🤧 "
-Your father is reluctant at first on getting along with your boyfriend, especially when he heard what transpired within Heartslabyul.
-Riddle invited your father to a private tea party to get along with each other, however your father turned it into an interrogation on Riddle.(Riddle was sobbing in the corner later telling Trey and Carter how he will not get your father's blessing to court you)
-Trey and Cater worried for their friend's well being helped him by either talking to your father about how "Riddle has change for the sake of your daughter."
-Many private tea parties later, they eventually got along making you quite happy.
-Your father saw how capable Riddle is on being a leader despite his flaws thus he allowed Riddle to court you.
-You three would have tea parties together ^^
-your father was still overprotective of you though, he warned him not to do anything to his dear daughter or he'll face his wrath.
Hmm... If you can tone down your anger issues then I'll happily give you my blessings.
Yes I've been working on that, and I believe I managed to hold in my 'anger issues' now.
Is that right? Alright then Shorty.
I am not short-
Yeah no you've got a long way to go child.
Tumblr media
-Your father didn't like him one bit, he keeps overthinking that Leona would eat you one day because of his nickname for you.
-Your father didn't like the fact that Leona was willing to harm people just for the sake of winning a game against Malleus.
-He also dislikes how lazy Leona is, as for Leona he Hates you father's constant nagging, it always messes up his afternoon nap!
-Leona would send Ruggie to distract your father so you can spend time with him^^
-However it back fired when your father managed to bribe Ruggie with food.
-Your father will probably provoke Leona to show his bad side, which doesn't work.
-You'll see a one sided bickering between them.
-It probably takes a while for these two to get along with eachother.
-Your father is still skeptical about Leona
-Your father likes how Leona respects women though, that's what made your father try to get along with Leona. Respect women Juice
- Occasionally Leona and your father would play chess together and the loser would have to follow what the winner says
Tumblr media
-Your father was impressed with Azul being a business man
-however he greatly despises his manipulative personality, as well as how he scams people with his contracts. your father was fuming at him when you willingly accepted his deal in hopes to save your friends
-When Azul caught feelings feelings for you, he tried to win your father on permission to court you at first.
-But no matter what he does it seems like your father did not want you to get close with him.
-Which is why the two of you secretly hang out, since your curious on how he managed to became a successful owner of monstero lounge
-When your father discovered you two hanging out secretly, he merely sighed your father understands why you'd keep your hangout a secret because he was overprotective worried about you but he glared at Azul though
"Fine I'll allow you to court my daughter, if you hurt her I swear-"
"Oh? And what about a marriage contract?"
"Then I'm having an octopus dinner🙂"
"hahaha..."
-If your father got transported later to where both you and Azul are dating- oh he's a business man you say? Wait. What do you mean he has two scary gaurds? And- And he tried to scam his daughter!?
-Big no no for your father. He tried to do what ever it takes to make you stay away from him.
-Azul knew what your father was planning, that's why he tried to make a contract with him that he promises to take care of you (plus a discount in montro lounge) in exchange all he needs is to allow him to court yo- oh, your father ripped the contract
-Thus Azul sent the leech twins to distract your father convince your father that Azul is a changed man.
-So Azul and your father were forced to get along with each other, and they always bicker.
-In your perspective it's quite funny to see the two of them bicker
-Every time your Azul got his ways with hanging out with you, he'd eat an octopus dish in front of him!(Where he got it? You don't even know)
-However like Riddle they slowly got along but their bickering is still there
-In conclusion your father radiates a passive aggressive aura around Azul but other than that they get along and talk about buisness.
Bonus:
If you hc that Crewel is a father figure to Yuu then your in luck! They could get along quite nicely!
Keyword on could.
If Crewel see's y/n as their child then your father and Crewel would get a rivalry of who's the better father.(If you also hc Crowley as a father figure and see Yuu as his child as well then shit is about to go down)
One thing is clear though these two three if you count Crowley will not hesitate to work together if it means preserving their dear daughter's innocence.

Oooo! Someone I was meaning to ask!
What’s your favorite type of fanfic to write? Theme wise? Well I guess technically it’s called trope? Genre? Prompt?
I know you’ve written a lot of Astrophobia ones. And the Hanahaki Lagoona one was amazing! You’re really good at writing inter turmoil and pain. I specifically love how you go back and forth from what’s happening currently to a flashback. It really angles the story to see four dimensional and adds a layer not seen in many writers!
I think my favorite has to be whump. I love a good fic that can make me fear for my life or feel second hand pain of the characters. I find it fascinating how writing can make you feel something physical like that.
A good backup would have be defending. Which sounds weird, but I like a story where either people gang up on a specific character who’s typically mean but then the one person stands up for them and gets super pissed at them for hurting the feelings of original person. (Who of course tries to pretend like they weren’t hurt. But their partner knows them the most) 🥹.
Apologies. This was a bit longer than my usual asks. I’ll try to keep it small next time. But hey! Another free ask to write a snip!
best,
-Lainey
First: a small clear up! The Lagoona Hanahaki fic you're thinking of is very likely A curse of Flowers and blood, a betrayal of hearts and love. I didn't write it! It was written by @mr-walkingrainbow as a belated Christmas gift for me. Since it's a gift it has my username tacked on at the very end, but I don't deserve any of the credit for that fic.
I really like writing fluffy things for the most part, but I do love my angst. I'm a particular fan of Hanahaki, yes, and I really like hurt/comfort. I also really like major character death if I really want to hurt my lovely readers /affec
Also, the thing where someone pretends they're okay but their partner can tell they are???? LOVE IT it's so so good
Snip:
"I'll talk to Ms. Hatter and Ms. White and see what the student council can do," he smiles. Just a little, and just for his kids.

So its established that the alpha is the one that keeps their silence when things get hard right? but then in the nightmare piece, megumi was the first one to notice that the alpha had a nightmare and wasn't in the right state of mind. And that gave me a thought, megumi noticing that they had a nightmare obv wasn't the first time so i headcanon that when megumi was still a child, whenever the alpha was depressed and needed comfort but shut up abt it to avoid troubling satoru more, megumi was the first to notice and comforted the alpha in his own megumi way like sending one of his divine dogs to play with the alpha
Just to clarify, I don't think the alpha is necessarily unique in the way they deal with difficulties! Most of sorcerer society is like this. Some people are lucky to have someone with whom to share their difficulties, but when they lose that person (like Nanami did), they go silent.
Gojo and Getou were that person for each other, but even then they never got to have that supportive relationships as adults, never learned to seek it out (understandable when you realize they don't consider anyone else their equal), and they seldom seemed to talk about what was bothering them head-on even as students (see the argument Shoko runs away from in the flashback arc). I can only speak to my experiences with the east asian part of my family, but that's pretty typical anyways. It takes trust and you still have to entice your loved ones into telling you what's up to them. It's not uncommon to get just as much information from careful observation as from an actual conversation. (Gojo actually doesn't say much either - he knows there are bad situations you can do nothing about, and in those cases sometimes the most you can do is just be there with someone in the shit)
Also, here's another old jjk fandom joke for you: that these people thought [single] parenthood at about 17-18 would fix them. The odd age gap between Megumi and the adults that inserted themselves into his life is part of what makes that relationship much less straightforward than just parent/child or student/mentor. If you like to read post 1800 British literature, benefactor really suits Gojo's role - he acts like one of those wealthy people in novels, snatching up talent because he knows that it will benefit him later, but also truly caring for his charge's well-being. It's a unique kind of relationship that's seldom recognized or codified in the united states, but it wouldn't be uncommon to cultivate these kinds of relationships for someone raised like modern day royalty the way Gojo was.
Shamans live a hard life. Alpha would definitely have had nightmares about something when Megumi was young, and they probably wouldn't have been very good at hiding it, being young themselves. Plus Megumi was an abandoned kid living in an unstable series of situations. He was probably hyper aware of his surroundings for a good little while until things settled with Gojo taking him in.
That said, this headcanon is adorable. Alpha really did have more room in which to be family to the Fushiguro siblings and that means Megumi in turn has more room to show emotion around them.
(I'm bad at social cues... especially online. I don't know if you wanted to see from my point of view what you're describing, but I blurbed it below <3. Thank you for sharing the headcanon anon!)

When staring at the dead TV screen had faded away into a restless sleep, you didn't know. At least this was a formless nightmare, which was both better and worse. Dreams in which you could fight, even with the world sticky-slow or slippery as ice woke you up irritated. The dreams which were made more from the hazy memory-stuff of too many battles, too many near misses and if only we'd been here yesterday's, left you with no specific images but hung themselves like weights in your chest upon waking, robbing you of much needed true rest.
At least, you thought, your consciousness bubbling rapidly back to awareness, it would be over soon. That was truly the best that could be said of bad dreams.
You snapped awake when a warm tongue licked your wrist and a low whine sounded by your ear - distinctly canine rather than human.
In the dark, the shape of White Jade dog glowed like the moon.
You sat up, looking around the room, but neither saw nor sensed anyone (or anything) else in it. Still you crept slowly through the little apartment.
Satoru and Shoko were out of town and you'd come here because you couldn't stand another night alone and now you were glad. The neighborhood was safe enough, but even so...
You trailed your fingers along the wall, the white dog padding along behind you and then slipping past into the kids' room ahead of you.
They were both in bed still, but if the shikigami were out, then that meant someone was awake.
You knelt in the space between Megumi and Tsumiki's beds. She was doing a much better job at pretending than her brother, but if he was awake, then so was she. You sighed softly to yourself. They were both so nervous, even though they hid it. And you didn't blame them.
Too tired for words, you chose to wait instead, and eventually, when you were almost drowsing sitting upright, Megumi rolled over and cracked open one eye. White Jade dog wriggled a little but at the slightest movement from Tsumiki, it stilled again.
Eventually, soon really, they would need separate rooms. Tsumiki had insisted on staying here until the school year was over, but as Satoru had described it, the situation was delicate enough without negotiating for a non-sorcerer to be exposed to the world of curses.
You reached over and tucked her duvet higher over her shoulder, grateful to see at least that some tension unwound from her.
When you turned back, Megumi was no longer pretending to be asleep at all, although that glaring stare of his was softened.
"I heard a noise," he said to your silence, whispered but still defensive.
It didn't take a genius to figure out at this point that you were probably the noise. When this used to happen on overnight missions, Suguru used to shake you awake and sometimes curl up behind you. Satoru would grumble his own reply to your murmuring until you woke and throw a spare pillow, still warm from his embrace, at your head. Shoko would have tugged you slowly into her arms and soothed you back to sleep with her precise fingers rubbing into your neck.
"Well thank you for sending White to come get me," you whispered back, shaking away the memories. "We should go back to sleep though."
Megumi frowned at whatever face you were making and looked at where the white dog was sitting, head cocked almost like a real dog, at the foot of his bed.
It was sweet that he'd sent his favorite of the two to wake you. Black Jade dog seemed to scare him sometimes, literally making him jump at his own shadow as it melted from the darkness.
When he said nothing in reply, you tried to unfold yourself from the floor. Megumi latched onto your sleeve. His face was turned away.
You carefully crouched back down. "How about I stay here tonight?"
He nodded after a moment, just once, barely noticeable except a shift against the pillowcase, but this time he let you go.
You smoothed down a blanket to sleep on and one to sleep under and pulled one of the couch cushions under your head in between the two beds in the narrow room.
Both of the children responded to your prompting "goodnight" and shuffled around to curl up again. Tsumiki's breathing evened out quickly, but the White dog's presence meant that Megumi was still awake.
It was curled around it's masters legs, head propped on his hip as it watched over you.
"Megumi?--"
Neither child nor dog made any noise apart from Tsumiki's sleepy snuffles.
"--I'm okay."
A barely perceptible little hmph came from the bed on your left.
You could hear a clock - the only thing that still had working batteries when you and Satoru had first visited the kids - ticking in the other room.
Almost five minutes later to the second, White Jade dog settled its head heavily over Megumi's side and disappeared with a sigh.

The accompanying art was drawn by the extremely talented @almaadst find it here.
Premise: Watching your friend die is never easy, Bakugou learned this the hard way. But how many students need to die for UA to pick up the slack? To make attending the school safe for students and assuage the fears that have been stoked in their parents? To Bakugou’s knowledge, only a couple students have died at UA throughout its history. But for Aizawa, he knows the truth. He sees the grief he experienced when he lost Oboro reflected in his own students, and he decided that he’s had enough. He can’t sit idly by while students are dying. With the determination of class 2-A, they dig for the truth, only to find the hundreds of skeletons in UA and the HPSC are hiding in their closet. When the truth comes to life, the already fragile trust the people had with heroes shattered. And with these revelations, come a reckoning.
I'm really trying to give y'all time to run, or know what you're getting into.

Becoming a hero almost meant that sacrifices were going to be made. Your social life, your sleep, your mental health, or even your life. But as Bakugo is staring at blood soaked rubble, he realized that he wasn't ready to make that ultimate sacrifice. None of his classmates were. So why was he holding the hand of his lifeless friend?
After All for One was defeated, class 2-A took a collective deep breath. The Paranormal Liberation Front was dealt with. Everyone thought that they were finally going to be able to have a normal or at least semi-normal high school experience. That bubble was immediately popped at the Ground Beta site.
Bakugo, Denki and Kaminari were all running through what were the remnants of a multiple story building. There were only two floors that were left, and towering beams that indicated there were even more floors that now cease to exist. It was quiet, almost too quiet for Bakugou. He slowed down and surveyed his surroundings.
"Something feels wrong. I don't know what it is, but I'm not liking it here," Bakugou said, keeping in line with Denki and Kirishima. Dread weighed his brain down, the feeling coating him like a gross, thick syrup. He's never been this on edge before and it scares him. Denki laughed and shoved him a little.
"Dude, you're being paranoid. I know we've been through a lot in the last year, but it's over. All for One, the League, everything is done. We can finally relax," he said, placing his hands behind his head. Kirishima nodded before agreeing, stating, "Denki's right. We should always stay vigilant, but the people who would attack us on campus are never coming back. So we're safe here, alright Bakugou?" Bakugou let out a huff and the three of them remained in silence before a loud boom echoed through the floor. Before any of them could think, they were off, running to figure out the origin of the sound. They thought it was remotely detonated charges set up by the school, but Bakugou had a sinking feeling it was something or someone much worse. Kirishima and Denki were placing bets as to what the school had in store for them, but nothing about this screamed organized. They ran to another part of the building, and Bakugou's blood ran cold at the sight of a large hulking figure standing in front of a gaping hole in the concrete wall.
"Oh, my first victims," the figure spoke, its voice gravely and almost inhuman. It was grotesque, its body looking humanoid with lava and black rocks decorating its skin.
"Shitty Hair! Go alert the school," Bakugou barked out. Kirishima nodded and ran deeper into the building, knowing there's flares somewhere inside, leaving Bakugou and Denki to defend themselves.
Looking around, Bakugou tried to assess his best options, quickly realizing that's this is a nightmare for using his quirk. An enclosed space like this hallway means that Denki is easy collateral damage. All it takes is one wrong move and he'll hurt him, so Bakugou bursts forward, propelled by his hands' explosions in an attempt to run outside, only to be thrown against the wall. Bakugou grunts as he makes impact, and slides to the floor. Denki makes a move to get to Bakugou but the villain gets to Denki first, lifting him by the neck.
"You aren't as interesting, so if you want to live, stay out of it," they growled out, tightening his hold on Denki's neck. Denki felt heavy with nothing but fear as the villain stared at him. Bakugou watched as Denki clawed at the villain's hands in weakening attempts to get them to release him. The villain turned his head to look at Bakugou before continuing to speak. "I wanted you, among some of your other classmates, Shoto and Deku. You all caused quite the stir in the last year and I want to see what all the hype is. The rest of your class is simply collateral damage." They threw Denki to the same, and Bakugou instictively ran to catch his friend before he made contact with the wall.
"Get the fuck out of here Pikachu. I'm not letting you get hurt 'cuz of me," Bakugou growled, but Denki could see pain and worry swimming in his friend's eyes.
"I'm not leaving. Kirishima will be back soon. Let's hold him off til the teachers get here," Denki said, smiling. Bakugou shook his head, voicing his dissent.
"No. You both need to go. This is my fight, not yours." The villain stormed towards them.
"I'm tired of your fluffy shit. Neither of you are hurt really bad, and starting to fuckjng bored." Bakugo blasted both of them out of the building, getting Denki to a safe spot as the villain spoke. "Stay here and wait for the teachers." As Bakugo spoke, a flare shot into the sky, and Bakugo let out a breath he didn’t even realize he was holding. The teachers know something's up. Someone's gonna come for us. We'll be okay. When everything was so chaotic last year, he always had the teachers behind him, and it gave him so much more confidence and strength knowing he had pro-heroes on his corner, supporting him and ready to lay their lives on the line to protect him and his classmates.
"When the teachers come, tell them what's going on," Bakugou said before blasting off again, leaving a screaming Denki behind. This is his fight and business. He couldn't bear the pain of his best friend getting hurt because the villain want him.
As he arrived back at the building, he saw Kirishima outside, looking around. "Oi, Shitty Hair," Bakugou yelled out, catching Kirishima's attention. Kirishima's shoulders relaxed as he saw his friend.
"Oh thank goodness you're okay. Where's Kaminari," Kirishima asked, relief obvious on his features.
"I took him to safety. And you have to go, too, Shitty Hair. The guy specifically is after me. I refuse to let people get hurt because of me," Bakugou said, causing Kirishima to blink in surprise, before determination took over his features. "I'm your shield, remember? I can deal with the brunt of your attacks so you don't have to be careful around me, you hear? Go all out and show this villain why the best heroes come from UA. Besides, it wouldn't be very manly of me to leave my friend in their time of need," Kirishima stated, and Bakugou let out a "tsk" before the faintest sign of a smile appeared on his face.
"Found you," the villain exclaimed, coming out from the hole he left in the wall. It was almost the villain was playing some sick and twisted version of hide and seek. The villain almost sung those words, and it caused Bakugou to believe that the villain saw everything as somw fucked up game. Kirishima immediately took a defensive stance the moment he heard the villain, and Bakugou started blasting towards the villain. I don't have to incapacitate him, I just need to keep him busy, he thought as lhe blasted the villain in the face. They stumbled before smiling, showing their sharp teeth. "That's what I'm here for. Show me what you're capable of Dynamight," they snarled, now lunging at Bakugou.
Bakugou kept moving around, dodging his attacks, and the villain, slowly becoming more and more agitated, started picking up rubble to throw at him. The air was was slowly becoming more and more saturated with the smell of burnt caramel and smoke as Bakugou kept using his explosions to avoid the villain's attacks, and the crack of each of this explosions pierced through the air.
"I came for a fight, and all you're doing is dancing around me. If you think you're going to live long enough for your teachers to get here and save you, you're sorely mistaken," they growled. Bakugou didn't dignify them with an answer. Don't rile them up, but close yourself off so this isn't as much of a fun game for him. He'll start to want to give up and get messy and that's when I strike, he thought as he kept his pace in the air. He able to blast away pieces of the rubble, and Kirishima came in, blocking some of the villain's projectiles. They hissed out in pain as Kirishima landed some blows on him as well, and the villain immediately turned to punch Kirishima through a wall, knocking the redhead unconscious. "Kirishima," Bakugou yelled out, wanting to run to his friend, but the villain grabbed him and slammed him into the ground.
"Now that the pest is dealt with, time for the main show," they said as they cackled. All Bakugou could see was red, causing an explosion in the villain's face. The attack caused them to release Bakugou and he began an onslaught of attacks, landing blow after blow on the villain. The villain laughed despite obviously hurting from the blows. "This is it! Show me why the League thought you would be a great asset," they laughed, obviously trying to enrage Bakugou even further, but the sound of his name stopped his rampage.
Denki was running towards the fight, throwing a disk towards the villain before shooting out a bolt of electricity at them, their body locking up from the current. Bakugou ran to Denki at this opening, fury covering his features.
"The fuck are you doing here! I thought I told you to wait for the teachers, dumbass," Bakugo screamed. Denki shook his head.
"Aizawa came but he was the only teacher that was there, and I refused to wait any longer while my friends might be dying! He messed with you, meaning he messed with me," Denki said, his voice cracking. Bakugou could see him shaking and clenching his fists. He doesn’t want his friends to get hurt or die while he's hiding in safety. He wants to fight with his friends and loved ones. He refuses to be unsleep. Understanding Denki's emotions, he nodded.
"The moment that things start looking bad, you run. Put yourself first," Bakugou stated. "I won't leave you. I know Kirishima would tell you the same thing. We'll fight by your side to our last breath," Denki said with finality. Bakugou hated the mention of last breath because it in insinuates that either one of you or both of you weren't going to make it out of this interaction alive. Bakugou really wanted to change his mind, but the determination on his face convinced him otherwise.
"Let's get this party started," Denki cheered. He placed his hands down and crackling started filling the air. The air was charged, Bakugou's hair started to stand up, and small bolts of electricity started to worm their way around Denkilike an eel. Light started radiating from Chargebolt and his hair began to rise. The villain regained their bearings and lunged towards them and Denki nodded, signaling Bakugou to leap into the air. A large crack of Thunder boomed around the size of one of Bakugou's AP shot going off right in your eyes. Denki put out a large burst of energy, the ground scorching until it reached the villain. There were black lines where the lightning forced itself through the ground Denki kept it up, only releasing the charge as Bakugou was about to land a hit. It was hit after hit, and the villain regained their bearings enough to throw a piece of rubble at Bakugou, and it just narrowly missed him, causing him to stagger a bit. In the background, Bakugou could hear the sound of footsteps advancing towards him and Bakugou knew this was almost over. Bakugou lunged towards the villain and grabbed his face. He pulled the pin on his gauntlets, delivering a devastating blow, rendering the villain unconscious.
Bakugou landed and panted, on the brink of collapsing from exhaustion. "Looks like we did it Pikachu," Bakugou said, gulping down air with every other word. He was met with silence and dread quickly devoured his relief. "Pikachu," asked, calling out for his friend. He turned to see a large piece of rubble where his friend was. "No, no, no, no this can't be happening," he repeated to himself as he ran to the slab of concrete, only to be met with Denki's body from the waist down trapped under the concrete. Blood was filling his friend's mouth and Denki tried his best to give Bakugou a reassuring smile, but it was one filled with unease as well.
"Stay with me Denki. Please," Bakugou cried out, moving to hold his hand. Bakugou didn't notice the blood covering his friend's hand, nor would he even care if he did. Denki gave it a weak squeeze and turned to look at him.
"Please don't blame yourself. I know you, so I know you'll do it. This is no one else's fault but the villain's. They threw the rubble. Not you," Denki said, pain drowning every word he spoke. Bakugou is always so hard on himself, blaming himself for every and any little thing. So he knew right away that Bakugou would blame himself for this.
"But I could have blown the rubble away. It didn't need to hit you," Bakugou stated, almost choking on his words.
"You didn't know it would hit me. I know if you even thought it would hit me you would have blown it away," Denki said, squeezing Bakugou's hand again. "I trust you with my like Kacchan. Even now, as you blame yourself, I still trust you. I always will trust you." Don't believe Denki's front though, he was terrified. He didn't want to die, he had so much left to do. But if he showed that fear, it would eat Bakugou for the rest of his life, and he couldn’t do that to him. He didn't blame him anyway. Denki's eyes became heavy and he started blinking, each one longer than the other. "Everything's gonna be okay," Denki said, squeezing Bakugou's hand. "Tell Shinsou I love him," Denki said softly and Bakugou shook his head, refusing his request. "You're gonna tell him that yourself Kaminari, you hear me," Bakugou said, holding Denki's hand tightly, and Denki gave Bakugou a smile before closing his eyes.
"No, you stay with me. Keep your eyes open and keep talking to me, you hear me Kaminari," Bakugou barked out, but he was met with silence, Denki's chest rising and falling slowly, but starting to slow even further. Soon it came to a complete still, and Denki's hand fell limp in Bakugou's. Bakugou repeatedly called out his friend's name in agony, and leaned in to hear it silent. An anguished cry sounded from Bakugou and Mina ran over, collapsing when she realized her friend was dead. She held Bakugou close, her wails joining his own. The teachers let them mourn before moving to pull them away. Mina went easily, but Bakugo refused to go, kicking and screaming.
"Let me go! I wanna stay with him! Please," he screamed, and Aizawa and Hizashi quickly moved in to get the teachers off of him, and knelt next to him.
"We have to get him ready to give to his family. We need you to let him go, okay," Aizawa asked, his voice soft. Bakugou looked at him with wide eyes, his cries turned into sniffles, before he got up and Aizawa held him tightly, allowing his student to cry into his chest. Hizashi rubbed his back, and they walked back to the crowd that had amassed near the scene. The sound of footsteps brought Bakugou back, and Bakugou turned to see Shinsou and his group panting wildly as Shinsou specifically walked toward Bakugou. Hwere on the farthest side of the training grounds so it took him a while, but he heard Denki was in trouble and ran over as fast as he could. He needed to tell Denki how he felt, that he was in love with him, whether it would be reciprocated or not, because he may not get another chance. His blood ran cold as he was now able to see the scene, his eyes landing on Bakugou, as Mina gave Shinsou a small hug before croaking out "I'm sorry". Shinsou looked around to see Denki's body being moved from the rubble. Aizawa's eyes landed on him and he instictively moved Bakugou into Hizashi's hands before moving towards Shinsou. The latter crumpled to the ground before releasing heart-wrenching sobs. It felt like his heart was being ripped from his chest. Shinsou's wails pierced the air, and Bakugou felt his heart breaking all over again.
Aizawa lifted him up and walked him back over to where Bakugou and Hizashi were. Bakugou looked up and he couldn’t meet Shinsou's eyes. "He loved you," Bakugou blurted out. Shinsou's cries turned into small sobs as he let out a quiet, "what?" "Kaminari loved you. Those were his last words. He asked me to tell you that he loved you," Bakugo clarified, and Shinsou moved to hug Bakugou tightly as he let out loud sobs again. "He knew you loved him though. So try not to regret not telling him because he already knew it," Bakugou said, returning the hug. Aizawa tapped Bakugou, informing him that he needed to be treated for his injuries.
After he was patched up, he waited in Kirishima's hospital room, wanting to be the one to break the news to him. It took an hour or so for Kirishima to come around, giving a weak smile to Bakugou. "Did we get him," he asked groggily, to which Bakugou replied, "yeah, we did." Kirishima nodded and looked around the room. There were numerous beds, but his was the only one occupied. "Where's Denki," Kirishima asked, and Bakugou looked down. "Kirishima, about that," Bakugou started, looking down at the floor, but Kirishima shot up, now seated in the bed, and interrupted Bakugou. "Don't tell me-" Bakugou nodded, a small sniffle coming from him and Kirishima started sobbing, only to cause Bakugou to join in the sorrow. Their cries echoed off the room's walls like a cave designed to minic their pain. He quickly moved to hug Kirishima, and whispered, "I'm sorry Eijiro. I could have done more to save him."
Kirishima grabbed Bakugou's shoulders firmly, staring into his eyes. "It isn't your fault and don't blame yourself. It's not what he would want. The whole 'would've/could've/should've' isn't manly at all and serves NO ONE. You tried your best. We both did. There was nothing more we could have done and you need to accept that," Kirishima stated, his voice firm, albeit with occasional cracks. He was right. There was nothing either of them could do. Denki was gone. Kirishima held Bakugou's hands tightly, maintaining his intense eye contact, before continuing to speak. "Everyone is going to have to stick together. It's gonna be rough for a while, but if there's ever a moment we have to come together, it's now. Of course our pain is different from theirs, but mine is different than yours too. But it's okay to be vulnerable right now. It's okay that people have seen you cry and will see you cry. You lost your best friend right in front of you. Of course you're going to be an emotional wreck. But you aren't alone in your grief. You aren't alone at all. And you need to remember that because I'm going to knock down your door to make sure you're eating." Bakugo nodded and Kirishima gave him a small smile. "I know Denki wouldn't want me crying right now, he wouldn’t want any of us to cry, so I'm trying my absolute best to keep it together, but damn is it hard," Kirishima breathed out, and Bakugou squeezed Kirishima's hand before moving to lay in the bed next to his. There was considerable amount of space between the two of them, but just being in the same room as Kirishima makes him feel a little more at ease.
"Hey, do you mind me sleeping here for the night? I don't really want to be alone right now," Bakugou grumbled out, and Kirishima nodded. He's trying his best not to go back to his abrasive demeanor, but he feels like it will bring some normalcy back into his life. Later though, because emotions are running high, and he doesn't want to hurt any of his friends any further.
As Bakugou fell asleep, his body felt heavy, and his eyes opened to him at the field again. It wasn't raining, but the low cracks of thunder were almost deafing, and the bursts of lightning were almost blinding. The thunder was a soft background to Denki's pained screams. Bakugou runs back to the rubble to find Denki there again. Seeing his friend's mangled body was absolutely worse the second time around. Bakugou had to focus on the rubble, and nothing else to preserve his sanity. The moment he looked at Denki’s body, Denki's eyes landed on Bakugou. The screams quickly turned into venomous words. "It's your fault! If you paid attention, I wouldn't have gotten crushed. My death is on your hands," Denki spat out, causing Bakugou to fall onto the grass. No, it wasn't his fault, was it? Everyone keep saying it isn't, but he holds his guilt deep inside. Kirishima's voice sounded and parroted Denki's words. Bakugou turned to see Kirishima's mangeled body the floor. Then came Mina, then Jirou, then Shinsou, then Aizawa, and slowly more and more people joined in on the cacophonous chants of "It's all your fault." The smell of blood from their mangled bodies pierced his nose, violating his sense of smell. Bakugou covered his ears, sobbing and trying his best to ignore the chants, but they only got louder with each passing moment. His heart beat in his chest like an drummer going through a solo. His brain practically shut down at that point. Overwhelmed, Bakugou closed his eyes and let out a scream to drown out the sounds, only to shoot up in bed, his eyes opened wide as he scanned the hospital room. Kirishima was staring at him, concern laced in his eyes. "You okay there? You were screaming and then woke up," Kirishima asked. Bakugou couldn't even answer, breaking down into tears for what feels like the 20th time within the last 24 hours. Kirishima couldn't really get out of bed due to his injuries, so all he could do was whisper reassurances to his best friend, hoping it would be enough. A nurse came running in, panic in her eyes, but took a sigh of relief when she saw no one was severely physically hurt. She saw nothing but pain reflected in Bakugou's eyes, and moved to offer him some chamomile and lavender tea, and/or melatonin to help him sleep. He took her offer on the tea and she left to prepare it for him. The two boys sat in silence, neither one knowing what to say to the other, and just waited for the nurse to come back.
When she returned she had two white porcelain tea mugs, steam billowing from their lips. She set them down next to the boys and gave them a soft smile. "Hey, I can push your beds closer if you want. I assume you had a nightmare," the nurse spoke, looking at Bakugou, and then turned to Kirishima before continuing, "and you wanted to comfort your friend, but you're currently bed bound so you can't hug him despite really wanting to. So once you finish your teas, I'll make sure you two are within arms reach of each other, okay? Think of Kirishima as your emotional support animal right now, although I highly suggest you look into getting one." The nurse finished speaking and left. Again, the boys just stayed silent, focusing on the tea in their hands, the warmth relieving some of their anguish. After an hour, the nurse came back, Kirishima already fast asleep, and Bakugou still awake but his eyes slowly shutting before he forces them open. Their mugs were on their bedside tables, and she moved them to a table near the door before moving the boys close to each other. She moved their bedside tables to make sure they were on the outside of the beds, removing obstructions between them. Bakugou gave a soft grunt in appreciation and she turned around to grab the cups and leave for the night. She gave one last look at the boys, smiling at Bakugou finally fast asleep, and his hand intertwined with Kirishima's.
The next morning, Bakugou was woken up by the nurse, who informed him that Denki's parents wanted to speak to him. Would they blame him for Denki's death? Do they hate him? He wouldn't blame them for either. Bakugou gulped, and he got out of bed sluggishly following the nurse out of the room and through the hospital until they got to a conference room. The nurse open the door, and Bakugou walked in to see Denki's parents and Aizawa standing up, intensely looking at the door. Denki's mom ran to him as soon as the nurse closed the door behind him and hugged him tightly, soft sniffles sounding from her, while Aizawa sat back down. Bakugou was stunned, his eyes wide, but returned the hug nonetheless. After she pulled away, she gently held his cheek in her hand, giving him a wet smile. "You know, Kaminari was super excited when you started warming up to him. He told me that you were 'grumpy as hell, but had a good heart'. He would talk about how he was so happy when you didn't push him away anymore, and 'accepted' his friendship. You were a good friend to my boy, and I can never thank you enough," she said, her voice dripping in fondness. "But I got him killed," Bakugou replied, his voice meek. The little voice in his head refused to remain silent, vocalizing the mindset it quickly adopted within these last 24 hours.
"Don't you dare blame yourself. Kaminari was there because he wanted to protect you. Protect his friends. He wouldn't want to be anywhere else but by your side. The person to blame is the fucking villain who killed him. I don't care that he was after you in particular. He made the decision to break into UA's grounds. He threw the rubble. It's his fault, not yours," she said, her voice now firm. Her husband came up from behind her and placed a hand on Bakugou's shoulder. "We could have blamed you. But we know that it would only be us lashing out at you because we were blinded by grief. You can't predict the future. After all, hindsight is 20/20. But you were there for him in his final moments. You stayed by his side and comforted him. Our son didn't die alone, he died with you by his side, and we can't thank you enough," he added onto his wife's words. "Being a hero means that there's a risk that you'll have to make the ultimate sacrifice. Whether it's making a last stand or by accident, heroes die in the line of duty. But I know so many of my colleagues who died alone. They must have been so scared, but they had no one to comfort them in their final moments. But Denki had you. He had you holding his hand and talking to him. And I'm so thankful that he wasn't scared and alone in his final moments, but was feeling loved by you," she finished, now moving to sit at the table again.
"They wanted to comfort you. That's why they called you here," Aizawa said, Bakugou's attention now turning on him. "It works for me, because the school is holding a memorial for him, and we would like your help to organize it. We already spoke to Mina, Sero, and Jirou, who already agreed. Kirishima and you are all that's left to ask," Aizawa explained. Bakugou took a second to think. Is he the right person for this? Will he be mentally okay enough for this? But the memory of Denki's smile and laugh flashed through his head, and that made up his mind for him.
"I'll do it." Denki wouldn't want us crying and mourning like this. He would want us to celebrate his life, happy that he was with us. Aizawa nodded and called for the nurse to take him back to his room. Bakugou sat in his bed once he arrived and looked at Kirishima who was still fast asleep. "He'll probably be discharged tomorrow. I spoke to the doctor, and they're looking into you two being roommates for a little bit. You were able to sleep well last night after Kirishima held your hand, so with Kirishima staying with you, you can get some sleep," the nurse said. He didn't even realize she was still there but whispered a soft thanks before she left the room. Bakugou laid down and held Kirishima's hand again, the same hand from last night still extended, and found himself slipping into a dreamless slumber.
The next morning, Bakugou woke up to see Jirou, Shinsou, Sero and Mina all standing by Kirishima's bed. They were mumbling, and Bakugou coughed loudly to gain their attention. They turned to him and the room turned silent for a bit until Mina grabbed him and hugged him tightly. "I'm here for you Bakugou. We all are," she spoke, and the rest of the group nodded, their attention now on their explosive friend.
"Well, I, uh, am here for you too," he mumbled, the words foreign on his tongue. Everyone laughed at his awkwardness and Bakugou smiled, this moment being the first time he wasn't consumed with grief.
Jirou and Sero hugged him tightly as well, this quickly turning into an awkward cuddle puddle. In this room, normalcy reigned supreme. Bakugou felt a couple more bodies join in, and he grumbled at them to get off, but they refused, only hugging him tighter. Soon enough, they all broke apart, and that brief moment of happiness was choked out by grief.
"We have to start planning the memorial. The school said they'll do whatever we ask, so we have to figure that out," Shinsou said. His voice didn't waiver but there was pain in his eyes. Bakugou nodded and pointed towards the back corner of the room, where there were a stack of chairs. Everyone but Bakugou and Kirishima went to grab one and bring it back to the beds, where those chairs made a crude U shape as they started making the plans.
Over the next week, the group met in Kirishima's and Bakugou's room, Aizawa sometimes showing up as well. It was mostly a somber event, after all, they're planning a memorial for their best friend. But there's moments of time where the room is full of laughter, the group reminiscing about the nonsense Denki got you all into. The room went from being full of grief to being full of glee, and Bakugou could swear up and down he heard his laughter mixed into theirs, and it began to feel as if he was in fhe room with them.
Soon, the memorial was all set, and ready to go. The morning of, UA's second years gathered in the auditorium. The energy filling the room was dense, the grief filling the room like toxic clouds. Bakugou felt like it was hard to breathe, the sorrow almost like a hand wrapped around his throat and was slowly putting more pressure on him. He was backstage, frozen in place from the pain of what he is about to do. Why did he even agree to this? Honoring his memory? Most of the students gathered in the room barely even knew him! They didn't know how sometimes he would snort if he laughed too hard, or sometimes even wheeze. They didn't know how he had to hype himself up before exams. They didn't know how much he grew from their first year. They knew nothing about him, so why were they grieving? A hand on his shoulder broke him from his thoughts, and he turned to see Kirishima behind him. "They're ready for us," he informed his friend, and Bakugou nodded, making his way onto the stage. The lights were bright, and with his limited vision, he could see so many students with tears in their eyes. He could hear sniffles and even full on sobbing in the crowd. How much of an influence did Denki have? Bakugou looked at the stage finally, seeing a giant photo of Denki on an easel, draped in yellow and black flowers. There was a podium next to it where Aizawa stood. Bakugou noticed that he was dressed practically the same way as he does when he has to, whether it be visiting parents or press conferences. His suit was wrinkled, and his hair was placed into a horribly done top bun. Aizawa cleared his throat and spoke into the microphone, starting the memorial.
"Good morning second-years. I'm sorry that we have to gather under sad circumstances, but we're here to honor the memory of Denki Kaminari.” A wail sounded from the seats, and Bakugou watched as the student was gently escorted out of the room. Aizawa continued after the door closed behind them. “He was a bright student. Every time would walk into a room, his smile would lighten up the space. He was well loved, not just by his classmates, but his peers among his year, and the staff. I can personally attest that sometimes on bad days seeing his antics would put the first, and sometimes the only smile on my face of the day. I know I’ll miss him greatly, and class 2-A will never be the same without him,” Aizawa finished, now stepping from the podium.
Bakugou knew it was his turn to speak, but his feet were frozen in place. It felt like there was something weighing him down, his body too heavy to walk towards the podium. Kirishima’s voice rang in his ears, “If you can’t speak, that’s okay, I’ll go instead. But are you gonna be okay up there?” Bakugou took a deep breath and nodded, slowly walking to the podium. A small folded piece of paper burned a hole into his pocket, and as he got behind the podium he pulled the paper out and unfurled it. He kept his down, unable to look at the crowd in front of him. Taking another deep breath, he looked at the paper in front of him, the speech that he planned that’s essentially perfect and meticulous, but it was devoid of emotion, and he knew it. He knew that it was his feelings, but deeping sanitized to make it palatable to an audience, but it wasn’t him. He crumpled up the paper and threw it on the floor.
“Denki was my best friend. Scratch that, he is my best friend. He will always be my best friend. But we didn’t start like that. In one of our first interactions, he told me, ‘We've only barely started socializing and already you've made it abundantly clear to us the unpleasantness of your steamed turn of a personality.’ So we didn’t like each other that much. But he grew on me, and I grew on him. We helped each other grow, not just as heroes, but as students and as people. He helped me be more cooperative, and I helped him be more confident. But we also gave each other a safe space to be authentically ourselves. I don’t know how many times I found myself in front of his room when I had a particularly bad day and he would always distract me from my negative emotions. I always went back to my room in a much better state than when I left it. He’s easily one of the good things in my life, and I’m so lucky that I get to say that,” Bakugou stated, his speech fully coming from his heart. He looked up at Denki’s photo, and in a weird way, it felt like Denki was reassuring him that everything is going to be okay. Bakugou wasn’t aware of this, but the mic picked up his parting words of, “I’ll miss you Kaminari,” and it took all of Aizawa’s energy to not cry at those words. He’s never seen Bakugou so vulnerable and it’s killing him to see his students going through the same pain that he went through all those years ago.
The rest of the memorial went smoothly, although Bakugou zoned out after he took his seat backstage. Words sounded like static despite his best attempts to focus on his friend’s words. Each speech they gave sounded like they were speaking through cotton, and after the third speech, he just gave up, his mind fully dissociating. Kirishima wanted to comfort him, but Bakugou has been staring at the stage, but it’s like he’s seeing through everyone. His eyes were unfocused, and the call of his name from Mina or Sero couldn’t break his trance, and so everyone just let him be. The sound of Denki’s mother pulled him violently into reality, as he saw both her and her husband at the podium.
“Thank you all for being here. It makes me so happy to see how loved our son was by the school. I think he would be so happy to know how many people wh]ose life he’s touched. Denki was proud that he got into UA. When he got his acceptance letter, it was all he talked about for months. And then when he started actually attending the school, he came home with stories about his classmates and the people he met or talked to that day. But I know that Denki wouldn’t want everyone wallowing in sorrow, so you can take the letters that you wrote and dump them in the baskets near the doors or give them to a staff member,” she said, and Bakugou remembered the letter idea that Mina had a while back. She suggested that students wrote at least one good memory they had with Denki, but he had no idea they actually went through it since 2-A hasn’t had class since the incident. He’s barely even left his room, with Kirishima bringing him food and water throughout the day. “Keep those good memories with you. After all, you only truly die when everyone who knew you forgets about you.” She and her husband bowed after her last words, and Bakugou stared as they made their way towards him. He shot out of his chair as they approached him, and they hugged him before she gestured everyone to join in on the hug. “Denki’s so lucky to have all of you in his life. I couldn’t ask for a better set of friends for Kami to have. He was so happy to have been in every single one of your lives, so please, keep going, for him,” she said tearfully, and Bakugou felt her arms tighten around him.
They were all so absorbed into the moment that they didn’t even realize that Aizawa ended the memorial until they heard him call for Bakugou. Everyone pulled away and Bakugou walked towards his teacher who hugged him tightly. “I know exactly what you’re going through right now. I lost my best friend while I was at UA as well. He died during an internship and I saw him die in front of my eyes,” Aizawa said before pulling away to look Bakugou in the eyes, and then continued. “He had a speaker to communicate with me that was right next to me after he was crushed by the rubble. I heard him encourage me to finish the fight through it, only to find out after the fact that the speaker wasn’t working and his voice was in my head. To this day, I still blame myself for his death. Even after finding out he’s still alive, I still blame myself. It’s why I’m always so hard on you kids. You’re just kids. You shouldn’t be fighting adults. I don’t care how capable you are, it’s not your job. If you as children have to fight full-fledged villains, then that’s a failure on the part of the adults. That means we failed as teachers, as heroes, as mentors and as protectors. And that means we failed you. But please, don’t blame yourself like I did. I know that everyone is telling you this, but I’m hoping that it means a lot more coming from me since I was in your same exact shoes. That I regret drilling the fact that it was my fault into my head. I don’t want you to have that same regret.” Bakugou simply nodded and Aizawa let him go, the area now empty except for the two of them, and Kirishima. The latter walked up to Bakugou and simply stated, “let’s go,” before the two of them made their way back to their room.
The funeral wasn’t any easier. At first it was the wake, and it was simple enough. Bakugou was slightly relieved that no one expected him to talk because he didn’t have the strength to. He had spent most of the ceremony fiddling with his black tie. If it wasn’t his tie, it was him “dusting off” his suit jacket or his slacks. Everyone was focused on the priest, taking in his words, and Bakugou tried his best, but his brain just kept feeling like it was full of wool. He was seated with his friends in the section dedicated to Denki’s relatives. Denki’s parents justified it with the explanation that Denki considered them family, so it was only fair that they sat with the family, and Denki’s relatives all agreed.
Bakugou looked at the sound system hooked up to the temple, a microphone hooked to the priest’s robe. He found the amount of wires going around the space was odd, since it would suggest a large amount of speakers were in use, but Bakugou assumed that it was due to the large number of people seated in the temple, so have a lot of speakers made sense so that everyone could hear the sutra.
Then it was time to offer incense, with each family member walking up to the burner, a large ornate bowl with a thick stem and base. His mom taught him the traditions when he was younger, and he made sure to practice before tonight. The prayer beads that Denki’s mother gave him earlier sat cold around his fingers, coiled around his left hand, and that’s all he could focus on as he got up and made his way to the altar. He froze once he could clearly see Denki’s body in the casket. He was adorned in a long kimono that fully covered his legs and feet. His mind flashed back to the moment Denki had died, the memory fully consuming his head. A hand on his back tore him from his flashback, Denki’s father beside him. “You can sit back down if this is too much for you. I know this is probably taking you back to that moment,” he said, and Bakugou shook his head in refusal. He’s here to honor his friend, and he’s going to do it right.
Now standing a step or two away from the altar, he took a deep breath. It was his left foot, then his right, and then putting his left next to his right as he stood directly in front of the altar. He took some of the ground incense with his right hand and put it into the burner. Placing the palms of his hands together, he kept his fingers straight and placed the outside of his thumbs on his chest and bowed again. He relaxed his hands, dropping them at his sides, and took three steps back. Right foot, left foot, together. He bowed one last time, and made his way back to his seat, where Denki’s mother rubbed his back gently, reassuring him that he did a good job.
The rest of the wake passed by quickly and it was time for people to start leaving. Bakugou’s parents walked up to him and hugged him tightly. Neither knew what to say in this moment. They knew that their son had gone through so much, but they’ve never seen him like this before. They’ve never seen him this broken, so how do they comfort him? “I’m heading back to UA,” he said softly, pulling away from his parents. He remembered how his mother called him weak after the slime villain, and how tough she’s been to him, and he just can’t deal with that right now. Mitsuki nodded and they let Bakugou leave. Mitsuki’s brain was telling her to say something, anything to try and alleviate some of the pain her son is going through, but she remained silent, watching her son’s retreating figure leave the temple.
As Bakugou and his friends left, he saw a massive group of people waiting outside, each offering incense to a massive burner. There were a couple speakers set up outside, which explained all those wires. Everyone gave him sad smiles whenever they made eye contact, and Bakugou quickly became overwhelmed with grief at the sight of all of these people. Denki would be so happy to know that so many people cared about him, and still do.
When Bakugou got back into the dorm, he quickly got ready for bed, Kirishima following suit, and the moment his body hit the bed, he was asleep.
The next morning was the funeral itself, and Bakugou had practically no energy to go, but he knew he had to. He knew that he had to be there, whether it’s for Denki, for his family, or his friends, it was the only place he needed to be today. He begrudgingly put on his suit, and Kirishima practically pulled him to the car waiting in front of the dorms. “We’re almost late dude. Let’s hope there’s no traffic,” Kirishima said, anxiety dancing in his words.
By the time they arrived, most of the seats were taken, but Mina saved them a seat next to her, Sero and the others already seated with her. Only a minute after they sat down, the ceremony started. Everything went similarly as yesterday’s although Bakugou noticed there were no speakers set up outside like last night. Another difference was the renaming ceremony, and although Bakugou understood the reasoning and tradition behind it, Bakugou could only wish that simply saying Denki’s name would bring him back to him. At the end of the service, Mina pulled out a bouquet of flowers that were placed under her chair. “I got one for everyone.” Bakugou remembered Mina texted about that the other day, although it slipped his mind completely this morning. Everyone took one, and they each placed a flower into his coffin, his head and shoulders adorned with flora.
After the coffin was sealed, the funeral ended, and Bakugou was silently glad that Denki’s mother didn’t invite him for the cremation. He doesn’t think he’ll be able to take physically picking up his friend’s bones and placing them in an urn.
For the next month everything seemed to be a blur. Bakugou’s grades faltered for a while, although Aizawa pushed him to pick up the slack. Bakugou hadn’t had a dream since his nightmare a month ago, and his sleep quality has taken a turn for the worst. There were talks of Bakugou going back to his own room, but Bakugou refused, knowing that we would have those nightmares again. Despite Bakugou’s, Kirishima’s and Aizawa’s arguments, they put Bakugou into his own room and for days, Bakugou refused to sleep. He had coffee, energy drinks, tea, whatever it took to keep him up, but one night, his body had enough, and he collapsed from exhaustion. He doesn’t remember the dream he had, but all he knows is that he woke up screaming in the infirmary. Kirishima ran in and held Bakugou, telling him, “It’s okay. You’re safe here. It’s gonna be okay,” and Bakugou’s screams quickly turned into violent sobbing. In his tears, Bakugou could barely make out the sound of Aizawa screaming outside the door. He didn’t really care to figure out what his teacher was saying, to focused on trying his best to calm down. After what felt like hours, he finally calmed down, his sobs turning into soft sniffles. Kirishima went outside and Aizawa came in almost immediately after Kirishima left.
“Hey Bakugou. I convinced the school to get you an emotional support animal. For now, I have a cat in my room that I can allow you to sleep with. She’s a cuddle bug and extremely friendly, so I think she would work well in the interim. And when you get your own emotional support animal, she does work well with other animals, already used to Eri’s animal. But if she doesn’t work, and you have nightmares, we’ll reevaluate. But all your papers are being expedited, so you’ll get your official animal soon,” Aizawa stated, and before Bakugou could respond, Aizawa left the room. Kirishima returned not long after, and handed Bakugou a bottle of water.
“Hey, I saw Aizawa leave, everything alright,” he asked Bakugou, and Bakugou huffed before responding.
“Yeah. He’s getting me an emotional support animal. He thinks having one around would help with the nightmares.” Kirishima nodded before grinning.
“That sounds like it would work! After all, you could only really sleep when I was in the same room. I think having an emotional support animal would be great for you. Would they only be for your room, or for when you’re out and about,” he asked and Bakugou shrugged.
“I only know that I get nightmares. I don’t think I get panic attacks or anything like that. But I’ll ask for one I can take in public just in case,” Bakugou said, his finger on his chin. He doesn’t know the extent of his own trauma. Sometimes it gets worse after a while, so it’s better to prepare for the worst. He chugged the water bottle and gave the empty bottle to Kirishima to throw out. Bakugou fell asleep without even realizing, and the moment Kirishima held his hand and sat down on the edge of the bed. He used his other hand to scroll through his phone for the next couple hours.
Aizawa came back a couple hours later to find Kirishima asleep next to Bakugou. The sight before him reminded him about the many sleepovers Hizashi and Oboro had during their time in UA. Smiling softly, he woke up Kirishima, sending the boy back to his room, before gently waking up Bakugou.
“Hey, I have everything ready for Cookie to spend the night at your dorm,” Aizawa said gently.
“Is Cookie the cat you were talking about,” Bakugou asked groggily. Aizawa nodded.
“She’s already in your room. I’ll walk with you back to your room so that I can make sure that she doesn’t escape.” Bakugou got up and started walking to his room with Aizawa in tow.
When Bakugou arrived at his room, he slowly opened the room to see a grayish cat covered in black specks.
“Her full name is Cookies and Cream,” Aizawa said in the doorway, smiling at the cat. Cookie ran towards Aizawa and he scooped her into his arms. “Sit down on your bed,” he ordered, and Bakugo sat down. Aizawa walked towards him and placed Cookie onto his student’s lap. “Put out a hand.” Bakugou listened, and Cookie sniffed his hand before rubbing her face on his hand, purring. Bakugou gave her a soft smile, just her presence alleviated some of his pain. “I’ll pick her up in the morning, and drop her off at night. I also left treats and a litter box here. I hope she helps.” Aizawa left after he spoke, leaving Bakugou and Cookie alone in the room. They stared at each other for a little bit before Bakugou went to get ready for bed. When Bakugou took his shower, Cookie was mewling outside the door, and after he stepped out, he opened the door, Cookie trotted towards him, and rubbed her face on his wet leg. Bakugou scoffed and brushed his teeth, and spit it out before picking up the small cat. He placed her on the bed, and told her to stay there while he got dressed. She surprisingly stayed on the bed, watching him get dressed. He climbed into his bed, and Cookie moved out the way before climbing into his bed. Cookie climbed onto his chest once he was comfortable and curled onto it. He found himself falling asleep within minutes, her purring luring him to sleep.
When he woke up, Cookie was still on his chest, moving to rub her face against his as she felt him move. Bakugou put her on his lap as he sat up, moving to get out of bed. He placed her on his shoulder, brushing his teeth, and leaving her on the toilet cover as he moved to shower. A knock sounded from his door, he quickly finished his shower and got dressed before running to open the door. Aizawa stood before him.
“I’ve come to get Cookie. I’ll bring her back around 8:30, since I know you go to bed around 9,” Aizawa said, moving to pick up the cat. “I’ll see you in class.” With Cookie in tow, Aizawa left, Bakugou feeling a little empty at the sound of his door closing.
As he arrived, the class stared at him. He knew they were aware of his nightmares, knowing that tonight was the first night he was sleeping without anyone with him. He didn’t look exhausted, and they were relieved. They knew he didn’t scream in the middle of the night, so he was okay, and that's all they wanted for their friend.
Class went just fine for the day, Bakugou showing a bit more of his old personality, calling Kirishima “Shitty Hair.” Kirishima didn’t even realize how much he missed that nickname until Bakugou said it. He could see that Bakugou was starting to heal, and that made him more than happy. If anyone needed to heal from this all, it was Bakugou.
Cookie stayed with him for a couple months, his sleep shifting from dreamless to neutral to even pleasant dreams. One morning when Aizawa came to pick her up, he gave Bakugou a letter.
“Your emotional support animal is going to be here by the end of the week. But you’re free to visit Cookie at my apartment,” he stated, and Bakugou nodded. Cookie mewled loudly, sad that she's no longer going back into his room, or able to hang out with him. Aizawa chuckled. "Please visit soon, I have a sinking feeling our little feline friend is going to miss you. Bakugou scratched her head gently and her cries turned into soft purrs of satisfaction and pleasure.
When it came time to meet his support animal, he was met with a small dog, who wore a harness labeled “service dog”. He was in the principal’s office just staring down this dog that could easily fit in a tote bag. It was super fluffy and Bakugou looked at the scene with a raised eyebrow. He kinda expected a big dog to match his big personality, practicality be damned.
“Meet Akio, the pomeranian. He’ll be your emotional support animal. Aizawa expressed that you needed one that could stay on your bed, and he’s the perfect size to share your bed with, as well as be able to go to classes and off campus with you,” Nezu said, smiling at Bakugou. He really did pity the circumstances he was in, and knew that this was something that could have been completely avoided, if only he exercised his power as the principal. “A trainer will guide you through caring for Akio. But we’ll make sure that both you and him will be taken care of, okay,” Nezu said, and Bakugou nodded. The person holding Akio’s leash handed it over to Bakugou before leaving. He stared down at the dog, and he looked up at him.
When everything was signed Bakugou went to his room, and Akio trotted happily alongside him. He got stares from classmates but no one said anything to him, rage radiating off of him. How could they give him such a cute animal? He’s Bakugou FUCKING Katsuki, aka Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight. Nothing about him is cute, so why is he carrying this blonde cloud around? It looks like his shedded hair from over the years formed into a giant ass hairball. He thinks they purposely picked an animal that had fur the same color as his hair.
As he arrived in his room, Akio sat down, and Bakugou lifted him up to the bed. Akio stared at his new owner, almost curious, and Bakugou grunted at the sight. He stayed perfectly on the bed, watching as Bakugou moved to the bathroom to get ready for bed. He walked out in his pajamas to see Akio waiting in front of the door, excitement lacing their face when they saw Bakugou. Grumbling, Bakugou picked him up and took him to bed, laying on his back while Akio laid on his chest. He watched as the small animal curled up on his chest and slowly fell asleep. Bakugou smirked and slowly fell asleep.
Suddenly, he was back at Ground Beta, and his body was bound the same way it was at his first Sports Festival. The metal pole behind him felt cold against his back through his gym uniform. The voice of the monster that captured him his 3rd year of middle school echoed through the space and Bakugou’s blood ran cold.
“Ah Bakugou, look at you. Your weakness is always on full display, no matter how hard you try to hide it. Quirkless Midoriya pitied you. Everyone touted you to be the next incarnation of All Might while a quirkless loser had to save you. Maybe it would have been better if I killed you then. Save you all the shame.” Bakugou sighed shakily at the words. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7, breathe out for 8. In, 4. Hold, 7. Out, 8. Bakugou kept repeating the pace in his head while he felt his body tremble. No. He’s wrong. Deku saving him was something he could never forget. Deku read him like a book, and he hated it at the moment, but he was happy that Deku could read him like that. If he died, he would have never got the opportunity to grow, or to apologize to Deku for everything. He would have never met his friends, Kirishima, Sero, Denki. He took a deep breath and looked up, determination lacing his features. He pulled at his restraints and yelled with exertion, the chains breaking under the stress. He then pulled away from the pole and broke the binding around his hands, before ripping off the mask.
“Listen here fuckface: I’ll live my life as authentically as I want without regret. I may have weaknesses, but no one is perfect. I’ll never be perfect, but I’ll try my damndest to get close. Deku didn’t pity me, he saw someone, a friend, in danger. He wanted to help me not because he thought I was weak but because he wanted me to live. I told him to kill himself not too long before that, and he chose to save me. Don’t you dare act like a friend protecting another friend is a sign of weakness,” he screamed out at the top of his lungs. His voice cracked time and time again, but fire raged behind his eyes. “FUCK. YOU.”
“So that means you letting me die was a sign of weakness,” a voice spat, and Bakugou immediately turned to see Denki standing behind him, fury in his features. Bakugou tried to walk towards him, but it was like his feet were glued to the floor.
“No. It’s the villain who killed you. You know for a fact that if I had known it would have hit you, I would have blasted it away. You’re one of my closest friends, and we promised that we would all travel the world once we retired,” Bakugou said softly. Denki was the one who made that plan for the both of them, Kirishima, Sero, Mina, Jirou, and Shinsou. It was a little pact between them all, and even though Bakugou spoke about how he’s not going to retire til he’s old and gray, he still held those plans close to his heart.
“Still, you allowed it to hit me. It still falls on your shoulders.” Bakugou sighed.
“You told me it wasn’t my fault, your parents and practically everyone else said the same thing. But I still feel slightly guilty for it, and I’ll probably carry that guilt for the rest of my life. I really wish I knew it was going to hit you. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have let you die. But I can't go back. I'm stuck in this shitty ass timeline or whatever where I no longer have one of my best friends. But you know what? I won’t let some cheap knockoff of my best friend play with me like this.” Denki smirked wickedly and a bright flash blinded Bakugou before Denki laid in front of him, clutching at his legs. His legs were bloodied and mangled, and he watched as his friend started to claw at his pants, blood transferring onto his clothing. Bakugou balked at the sight before him, trying to process this before he felt more hands on the back of his legs. He turned behind him to see another Denki behind him. Looking up, he saw numerous versions of Denki crawling at him with their hands. Turning back around he saw the same sight. Chants of “your fault” filled the space, slowly rising in volume. Bakugou couldn’t seem to catch his breath, his breathing turning into hyperventilation. He kept chanting “wake up”, pinching himself, and slapping his face, but he was still stuck in the nightmare. This was all so much and he felt his brain starting to shut down, the stimulants too much for it to handle. His skin started to feel slimy, as if he was covered in spit, and he let out a soft sob, everything now overwhelming.
Bakugou woke up to Akio licking his face with a soft whine. Bakugou wrapped the dog into his arms and let out a soft sob, crying into its fur. Bakugou stayed like this for a while until sleep took him again without warning.
Bakugou woke up from a now dreamless sleep with Akio sleeping on his chest. He took the dog and moved him to his lap. Akio woke up and the movement, and gave Bakugou a quiet “woof”. Bakugou smiled gently, and took Akio with him to the bathroom, resting him on his closed hamper.
It was a small routine he built with Akio. He would tag along when Bakugou was on his morning run, as well as when he went to class. Akio would stay silent in class, seated right by Bakugou’s chair, as well as having him on the sidelines while he trains with his classmates.
After one of their classes, Aizawa gave Bakugou a small list.
“Hey, you should bond more with Akio. Here’s a list of bonding activities for you two. You should do some of them and get acquainted with one another.” Bakugou scoffed and held the letter in his hand, although Aizawa could see Bakugou reading the list as he walked away.
Over the next couple weeks, Bakugou turned Aizawa’s list into a checklist, making sure to try each of the activities that he liked. The first activity on the list was “tactile communication”. Okay, so petting him. Bakugou simply placed a hand on Akio’s forehead, and kept it still not really knowing what to do from here. He doesn’t want to pet him too hard, but petting him too softly would defeat the purpose. Akio simply just looked at Bakugou, just happy to be involved. Grumbling, he took out his phone and sat on the floor, opting to research how to properly pet an animal.
After what felt like hours of research, Bakugou decided to try petting Akio’s side, and Akio clearly liked it, his tail starting to wag. He kept a firm hand, and mirrored his movements on the opposite side, with Akio’s tail starting to speed up at the motion. He doesn’t know how long the two of them stayed like this, but when Bakugou finished, Akio licked his hand and gave him a look that he can akin to adoration. Smiling softly, Bakugou lifted Akio onto his lap, where the dog curled up, slumber soon taking him. The two of them stayed like this for a while, with Bakugou mindlessly looking through his phone, and for the first time in a long time, he finally felt normal.
The next activity listed was Movie Night. The common room was empty, and so Bakugou had the full intent of taking advantage of that. Grabbing a bowl of air popped popcorn, he sat and put on a comedy, wanting to focus on more lighthearted movie subjects for now. The fear of an action movie setting him off is non-zero, and he’s not taking that chance. And he could use the fluff of the comedy to distract him from the chaos that is his current situation. As the movie played, Akio was more focused on Bakugou than the movie itself, and the boy couldn’t help but send a small smile towards the dog when they made eye contact, before giving him a small piece of popcorn. He double and triple checked to make sure that dogs could eat popcorn, and since he air popped them himself, they should be good, although it should be in moderation like most indulgences.
It became a nightly ritual, with this becoming how Bakugou would wind down after the school day. Within days word got out about Bakugou's addition to his routine, and it started with Mina silently plopping herself next to him one night and him letting out a huff just to acknowledge her presence. The next night, it was Sero popping in alongside Mina. Then it was Jirou, then Shinsou, and then Kirishima. Bakugou put up a big show about how they're impeding on his alone time, but he can't lie to himself, knowing he missed them. His isolation is self inflicted, but it's all he knew. Growing up, whenever he was going through it emotionally, he always went into his room and worked out his emotions alone. He internalized everything, letting all of his negative emotions fester until they were too much to handle. He was a shaken soda bottle ready to pop almost always, and sometimes he did pop, lashing out at the people he was closest to.
Bakugou looked at the next item on his list, communal eating. It started with Bakugou putting out Akio’s dinner at the same time, and eating on the floor beside him. Akio clearly enjoyed it, looking at Bakugou with pure adoration in his eyes. It then developed into Bakugou making food with the intent of sharing pieces of it with Akio. The dog was more than excited to share, and Bakugou found Akio extremely adorable in the joy clear in the dog's face, and he honestly could get used to this.
Bakugou also took Akio out on his daily runs. Akio easily kept pace with the explosive hero, and Bakugou was extremely proud that Akio could keep up. After all, if his name means hero, it would also mean that he should be able to keep up with the future number 1 hero, right? It was so weird for his friends to see Bakugou smiling so softly at the dog every time he would come back from his run. Mina swears that she saw Bakugou kiss the dog once, although no one believes her.
Bakugou also tries talking to Akio and it was so awkward at first. He would talk to Akio like he was one of his classmates. He was speaking in complex sentences, like he could understand. He swore up and down that he could, but no one cared. He scolded anyone who would baby talk at Akio.
"He's not a fucking dumbass. Don't talk to him like he's stupid," he would always yell. No one would never listen, and he would threaten to take away dog petting privilege, which was always an effective punishment.
One morning, as Bakugou made his way to class, Aizawa stopped him.
"Bakugou, you're gonna be meeting with your therapist during first period. I'll stay with you after the end of the day so I can catch you up with what you missed," Aizawa said, placing a gentle hand on Bakugou's shoulder. Bakugou nodded and Aizawa walked him to a little office in the corner. "This is my office. They're an external therapist, because this isn't something the school social worker is equipped to deal with at their own admission. I'll cover the cost so see them as many times as you need." Bakugou walked in as Aizawa opened the door, and he saw a woman almost staring into his soul.
"Hi, I'm Dr. Takami, and I'll be your therapist. I specialize in PTSD, especially in heroes and children. Mr. Aizawa reached out to me and gave me the general jist of the circumstances, but I would like to understand more from you." She sat down behind a small desk, and gestured to a chair sitting across from her. Bakugou say down and stared at her warily. Aizawa left them and it was a tense silence until Dr. Takami spoke.
"I know you don't know me, but I want to help you. We can work on building trust over time, but I need you to open up to me so I can get you the help you need." Bakugou sighed and crossed his arms, scooting closer to Dr. Takami. "Let's start with something simple. How is your emotional support dog doing?"
"He's alright. Clingy as all hell. But he's a spit fire. He likes to bark at people who get too close, mainly because they try to pet him. He snarls and bares his teeth, but always softens around me." Dr. Takami raised an eyebrow. "I hate people in my personal space. I only let my friends hug me or stay close to me. Akio makes it so I don't have to say no to people. He hasn't attacked anyone and is nice to my friends so it's all good."
"And your sleep?"
"Better. The nightmares come, but Akio makes them easier to deal with."
"How are you coping without Akio? He's not meant to be the only way of dealing with your trauma," Dr. Takami said, leaning forward. Bakugou coughed and scratched his head. "Okay. So looks like we have to go through coping mechanisms. From what I can tell, your big thing is reliving the moment, so let's focus on grounding." Dr. Takami took Bakugou through a simple exercise, doing a countdown with each sense. She also took him through breathing exercises. "Akio is there to help. Just don't use him as your only form of coping, okay?" Bakugou nodded. "Well, here's a good point to stop. We'll be meeting weekly, unless you want to meet more frequently. Practice the exercises to get used to them, and memorize them. I know that you may not remember it in the heat of the moment, but it's better to know it and just forget it in that instance than to not have it at all. I would also suggest you have some trusted friends and adults aware of these so that they can walk you through it during an episode. I'll send this to your school email so you can send it to whoever you'd like." Bakugou nodded and Dr. Takami sent out an email to Bakugou. He quickly sent it to Kirishima, Mina, Sero, Shinsou and Aizawa.
"Okay, so, with that out of the way, how to do want me to help you," she asked.
"What do you mean," Bakugou huffed out.
"Do you want advice or just a shoulder to cry on in silence? I can also just listen to your pain. I ask this at the top of my sessions."
"Oh, uh, I guess advice." Dr. Takami nodded.
"Feel free at any point to 'switch modes', such as switching to a shoulder to cry on. This is your session. Customize it as you see fit." Bakugou stared at the doctor. Maybe this can be a safe space for him.
"Well, uh, does this whole thing get any easier," he asked.
"Kind of. Trauma is a fickle thing. Some people heal so well it's like the trauma never happened. Some people get worse as time passed. The status of your mental health isn't linear. Even those who I mentioned who fully 'healed' could go right back to square one, or even get worse. So don't focus on that aspect of healing. Focus on you. Acknowledge you'll have set backs and aim to overcome them. And as for therapy being easy, it never it. Right now, I'm some random stranger to you. Even when we start to become familiar with each other, it's still going to be hard for you to open up to me at times. And that's okay. This 'relationship' between us as a therapist and patient is going to have growing pains. But that's something the both of us can get through together." Bakugou nodded as she spoke. She gave a brief pause, before pulling out a notebook. "Try Journaling. Write down your emotions, whatever is plaguing your mind and reflect on it once a week." He took the note book, and the bell rang, signing the end of the session. Both he and Dr. Takami stood up, and she extended a hand to him. He shook it firmly and they both made their way out of the office to continue their day.
That weekend, the group all settled in Bakugou's room, papers in hand.
"I'll just do the breathing exercises. Shitty Hair, you start." Kirishima cleared his throat.
"Okay. I'll do the 4, 7, 8 one," Bakugou nodded and kept eye contact with the redhead. "So breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and breathe out for 8. In for 4, hold for 7, out for 8. Got it?" Bakugou nodded. "Okay, so let's start. Breathe in 1, 2, 3, 4." Bakugou inhaled with each count. "Hold 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7." Bakugou held his breath in time with Kirishima's count. "Out, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8." Bakugou exhaled, closing his eyes. Kirishima repeated the exercise over and over again, Bakugou getting into the swing of things. "Alright! Nice job Baku-bro!!! Keep it up!" Kirishima's smile rivaled the sun, and Bakugou won't say it aloud, but he was so lucky to have Kirishima in his life. Kirishima was his rock throughout everything. He's scared to think about how he would have gotten through all of the chaos that is now his life without having Kirishima by his side. Don't get him wrong, everyone else was also huge in his healing, but it was Kirishima who was there when Bakugou first had nightmares, who slept in his room and held his hand that first night. Kirishima is invaluable, and truly irreplaceable to him.
That same night, Bakugou opened his journal and knew what his first entry would be.
Dear Pikachu,
Hey, it's been too long. God, I miss you every minute of every day. It's been so weird with you gone. Nothing is the same. The movies we watched aren't the same, the foods we ate aren't the same, I tried to eat one of your favorite snacks, and it tasted like sand in my mouth. I couldn't even swallow it.
I find myself asking why. Why were you taken from us? I know it isn't my fault, or at least that's what everyone says, but I still wish I could have saved you. What's the point of being a hero if I can't even save the people closest to me? I almost gave up on being a hero, but I know you would absolutely beat my ass if I did. Mina already threatened to do so.
I hope you're at peace. Not even for my conscious, or to alleviate guilt, but because you're a good person Denki. Honestly, anyone who interacts with me regularly outside of mandated periods of time deserve a lot of good things. I'm not the easiest to work with, I know this. But you all were patient enough to get past my walls I so carefully created with ease.
Oh, by the way, I started therapy. The doctor seemed alright. She recommended I start the journal, and I wanted to start it off with something "nice and pleasant" so I can come back to it when I have a really bad time.
I fucking miss you Denki. I'll see you some day.
One afternoon, Aizawa got an email summoning him to Nezu's office, and as he walked in, he could tell the air was tense.
"You need to stop emailing the commission." Aizawa stared at Nezu incredulously.
"We're letting kids die," Aizawa spat out.
"There's nothing I can do! You think I enjoy having to deal with the work it takes to hide the deaths? That I have to constantly lie to parents about how their child died? There's a reason there's a high turnover rate for the principal role. It drains you. That we have to downplay the deaths so the school’s optics are safe-"
"Fuck the school’s optics," Aizawa screamed out. "Denki was a great kid! He didn’t have to die and both of us know it. The defenses around the school haven't been updated or even fixed since we used the school as a stronghold. If we updated the school's security system, he would still be alive." Nezu sighed.
"Aizawa. I want to fix it. I really do. But I can't do anything without the commission's permission."
"Nezu, we both know that the commission won't do a thing to protect these kids. They've failed time and time again. What will it take for them to actually start caring?"
"I don't know. I've begged and I've pleaded with them to do something. I had to frame the dorms as a good PR move before they made them in the first place. I hate that I can't do anything, but I'd much rather it be me who will try and find ways to make the school at least a little safer than a 'yes' man who doesn't care whether the kids live or die being in direct control of their safety. I'm livid that I have to say this, but I'm the lesser evil here." Nezu was right. If someone directly from the commission was in charge, they would only see the kids as numbers, and dollar signs rather than actual human beings. He's seen how much Nezu cares for these kids, holding meeting after meeting to ensure their safety on the staff side of things. If the commission can't put in effort to protect the kids, Nezu made sure that the teachers and staff did. Aizawa sighed, shaking his head.
"I'm tired of this Nezu. It needs to stop."
"I know. I'm tired too. But the only way the commission will care is if their wallets start to hurt. And unless some huge scandal comes out, I doubt we'll see that," Nezu sighed. "But please stop emailing them. They're slowly looking to fire you, and I really don't want to see you go. I need you here with me. There's only so much fighting I can do for you, but play it safe, alright?" Aizawa scowled at Nezu's request before walking out of the room. If a scandal is what it takes for the commission to take care of the kids, he'll give them one they'll never recover from.
One night, Bakugou was in the kitchen when he heard the “Breaking News” jingle sound from the TV in the common room. Bakugou turned to turn off the television, grumbling about people leaving the TV on when he saw the tag line. “UA Covers Student Fatalities.” Bakugou turned up the volume, sitting on the couch. Akio hopped up on the couch, before settling down on Bakugou's lap. The small dog curled up but stared intensely at the young hero, sensing the anxiety and anger creeping through the young hero.
“An anonymous source has exposed a bombshell to numerous media platforms, stating that UA has been lying about how many students have died under their care, as well as their lack of protections for interning students. Several students have died, but the most recent has been Denki Kaminari, who died due to a villain infiltrating the school’s training ground. This isn’t the first time villains have infiltrated UA’s grounds, Denki belonging to the same class that was attacked at the USJ arena, as well as during their training camp, where his best friend Bakugou Katsuki was famously kidnapped by the League of Villains. How many kids have died to UA’s incompetence, and how many more will die before they finally take action,” the anchor said, and Bakugou felt his breath ripped from his chest. Bakugou was filled with grief before he was filled with a righteous fury. He banged on the door of every single classmate, going floor by floor until he gathered everyone into one room. Akio trotted alongside Bakugou, peering up at him periodically.
“Look up UA on your phones. Right now,” he growled out. He didn’t even want to wait for them to ask questions, but confused whispers turned into stunned silence. “People keep telling me that it wasn’t my fault, it was the villains, but now it’s the school’s fault. After we kept getting attacked on our grounds, you would think that they would have more protections in place to make sure it never happens again, but they didn’t. Denki didn’t have to fucking die! He didn’t have to be fucking crushed in a villain attack if the school had actually bolstered the defenses around the training grounds. How many teachers knew? How many of them knew that students were dying and said nothing,” he yelled. He was fuming, his chest rising and falling rapidly while his eyes were wild. Aizawa walked in, and walked right up to Bakugou. Before Bakugou could yell, Aizawa leaned in next to his ear.
“I was the anonymous source. I can’t explain here on campus, but I was tired of watching this all happen. I would like all of us to meet elsewhere so I can explain everything,” Aizawa whispered, and he stood back up before Bakugou mouthed the words “my house.” If Aizawa wanted to be discrete, there was something up. Was the school listening to them? Was he not safe? Bakugou knew that everyone had to leave, the school would be on high alert soon, with parents coming in to take their kids out of the school. He wouldn’t be surprised if there were already parents here. Bakugou walked over to Kirishima.
“Everyone needs to come back to my house. Leave in groups from different exits. The school is maybe watching us. Make sure to inform everyone and only the group with me can tell people we’re going to my house. Everyone else needs to make up their own excuses,” he whispered into his friend’s ear. He knew it was a mouthful, but as long as they understood “Come to my house, and tell no one,” nothing else mattered. He moved to whisper into Mina’s ear, then to Shinsou, Sero, Jirou, Deku and Todoroki. Before long, the entire class knew the game plan. Bakugou moved out first with Sero, Mina, Kirishima, Jirou and Shinsou in tow. They were stopped by a staff member, but when asked about where they were going, he simply said was going home, and they were coming along at his mother’s request. It wasn’t the first time that she invited his friends over, so his excuse was plausible. They were able to make their way off campus, taking the bus home. Bakugou wore a face mask, knowing that his face is probably plastered everywhere.
After they got off, they walked through busy streets, UA on everyone’s tongues. Bakugou drowned them out, focusing on making it back home. His friends were silent, dread weighing them down. Bakugou would alway be heavy with sorrow if he wasn’t so filled with anger. He needed to get to the bottom of this.
As Aizawa made his way to Bakugou’s house, all he could think of was the oath he took to himself when he first became a teacher. He took an oath to protect thr children. He swore that he would happily die if it meant his students were alive. Oboro's death really changed him. He never wanted to see any kid go through any like that. But he's constantly reminded of his failure when he constantly had to deal with parents who were asking about their child and if there were any updates regarding their "missing" child. It's so easy for him to be swallowed whole by the negative emotions these feelings invoke. But he can't fail his kids again, not anymore.
As he arrived at his house, he saw his mother waiting at the door. “Your teacher is here. What the fuck is going on Katsuki,” she spat out. She wasn’t angry at him, but at the situation in her lap. She entrusted her kid to UA, and they hurt her son so bad she doesn’t know if he’ll be okay ever again. Bakugou walked past his mother, not wanting to deal with her anger and heads right to Aizawa who's sitting on the couch.
“The rest of the class is gonna be here soon. What you have to say better be real fucking good to make up for what you’ve done,” Bakugou said, venom dripping with every word. Aizawa knew that he deserved all the anger his students felt towards him, and maybe even more.
After all the students filed in, Bakugou requested Momo create a Signal Jammer, with the intent of it blocking out any bugs on their phones. After they confirmed it was active, Aizawa started speaking. "As I told Bakugou, I'm the anonymous source. I was the one who told the press about the school.” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before continuing. “I became a teacher because I didn’t want Oboro to happen again. I wanted to protect students and make sure that students didn’t die. But then I found out that kids die at UA more than any other school, and I’ve been fighting them for years to get better regulations to protect the kids, so I stayed to protect them the best I can. But to see Denki die, and see you all in pain was the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm tired of comforting parents and then knowing there's only a matter of time before the next set of parents have to come. I’m tired. I’m tired of fighting the school to protect our kids only to be ignored. I’ve seen principal after principal come in, then leave because the weight of the wrongs they see are too heavy to continue to carry, and so they leave. Even with Nezu, the light in his eyes I saw when he first came is now gone. So it definitely comes from higher up, although I don’t know how high up this goes. But I want to make sure that you kids know the truth. I want to finally make sure that Oboro or Denki never happens again.” Aizawa gets on his knees and fully bows in front of the class. “I’m so sorry I failed you, as a hero, as an adult, as a teacher, and as a mentor.” Bakugou walked over to Aizawa and helped him stand up.
“You didn’t fail us. You fought to protect us, and put your job at risk to make sure that we get protected moving forward. You’re the only one who didn’t fail us,” Bakugou said, and Aizawa gave him a wet smile. Mina walked over to him and hugged him, Kirishima following suit. Slowly more and more of the class hugged him, sniffles bouncing through the pile. Bakugou was the last one to join the pile. It took a bit, but the class finally broke away.
“You all should go home. UA is going to be an ugly sight in the morning, between the parents pulling their kids out, bereaved family members who just found out their kid's death was preventable, and the press. I don’t want you all to have cameras in the face while you’re trying to study, or while your parents are unenrolling you. Stay safe, and lay low for a bit. It’s truly been an honor to be your teacher, and whether or not you stay, I am so proud of the people each of you became. I wish you all the best in life,” Aizawa said before leaving. Everyone looked at each other, trying to decompress and process the information, and Bakugou’s mother offered the floor to everyone, but Momo offered her home instead, since there’s a lot more space for everyone to sleep as well as her butler being more than capable to cook a meal for 20-something people. She sent a text, and within the hour, a small bus pulled up in front of the Bakugou home, the class piling in. Sero, Mina, Shinsou, Jirou and Kirishima stayed behind, choosing to sleep over at Bakugou’s place.
Before they knew it, the morning came, and Bakugou turned on the news to see a massive crowd of people swarming in front of the school. The newscasters were picking up the angry yells coming from the crowd. There was a visible line of parents who were waiting to get in, and Bakugou could only laugh seeing the school face the consequences of their actions. The newscaster mentioned the school has a planned press conference. He wondered what sad excuses the school would make to try and salvage their relationship with the public. Whatever it would be, there’s no way it would make up for the lives they’ve ruined. He changed the channel to see a pair of familiar faces on the screen.
“Denki didn’t have to die! Our baby didn’t have to die! We didn’t have to cremate our only child but we had to due to the school’s incompetence! We lost a piece of ourselves, but know this could have been prevented, that our son could still be here with us if it wasn’t for the school’s incompetence makes me furious,” Denki’s mother said. Her voice was shaking with anger, her face red with anger. Her husband rubbed her back reassuringly, and he may seem calm but Bakugou could easily spot the rage swimming behind his eyes.
"The school isn't going to fucking get away with this," Bakugou hissed. A hand landed on his shoulder, and he turned to be face to face with Kirishima. Kirishima had a look of pure anger on his face.
"We're gonna make sure they pay for this. All of us," he said, and confirmations sounded around the room.
Meanwhile at UA, Nezu pulled Aizawa to the side before they were set to go on stage for the press conference.
"I hope you're happy with your choice." Aizawa raised an eyebrow at Nezu's words.
"What are you talking about?"
"Your decision in going rogue will have consequences, and ones you won't like. So I hope it's worth it." Aizawa didn't detect any malice in Nezu's words. "It's been an honor working with you."
"You're leaving?" Aizawa was in shock.
"They needed a scapegoat. They don't know the leak, so it'll fall to me as the principal. At least I no longer have to shoulder the burden of being unable to save the kids."
"Do you think this'll be enough to get the commission to step up?"
"This alone? No. But I fully believe that Bakugou and his friends will be the driving force to make that change."
"But they're just kids, that's a lot to put on them," Aizawa sighed out.
"I know. But we as adults were never able to make a difference so maybe hearing it from Bakugou will be the fire under them that causes them to move. That boy was made for TV you know. He's loud and in your face. His natural personality would be enough to make sure that the commission won't be able to live it down as long as he's vocal." Aizawa sighed. "I really do hope this is enough. Good luck Aizawa. Lay low, and stay safe."
"And what about you Nezu?" Nezu chuckled.
"Thanks for the concern friend, but I'll be fine. I'll be in hiding for a while till the heat slightly dies down, and I'll move out of the country and start fresh." Nezu stuck out his hand and Aizawa shook it. "See you again some day." The both of them moved to the stage, where they were blinded by lights from camera flashes. Aizawa didn't even sit down, standing behind the chair with a placard with his name engraved into it positioned on the table right in front of it. Nezu sat down and looked forward.
"I'm here regarding the allegations regarding UA's lack of protection for our students. I firstly want to apologize for the pain my negligence has caused both directly and indirectly. You as parents trusted my staff and I to protect your children and keep them safe while they were enrolled into our school, and on our grounds, and I failed. The kids deserve better, which is why I'm stepping down." A cacophony of questions filled the room and he internally sighed. He didn't want to be here. He didn't want to making this announcement, but the pressure from the higher-ups left him no choice. He was the fall guy, the scapegoat, and he hates this. The conversation he had earlier replayed his mind.
"Nezu. I'm sorry, but we need you to resign," a feminine voice stated on the phone. He was stunned, his brain trying to process this information. He looked around his office, thinking that this will be the last time he'll be sitting at his desk.
"Madame President, what are you talking about?"
"With you taking the fall, the focus and heat on us will shift to you, and the anger towards us will eventually fade away. It's sad that you have to take the blame, but it's for the greater good." The greater good of their wallet. "We'll compensate you handsomely, and help you in hiding til the heat dies down, and moving you out of the country with a new identity so you can restart." Nezu sighed. It's not like he has a choice. He knows what the commission will do if he goes against them, and he very much would like to live.
"Okay. I'll resign during the press conference."
"Thank you Nezu, it's been a pleasure working with you, and good luck moving forward." The phone call ended and he placed his hands into his palms before quietly sobbing.
Nezu left without taking questions, his obligation to the school and the commission done and over with.
What happened to him? He's an educator who was focused on his kids, and allowing them to thrive. When he got the offer at UA, he was excited to start working with the school. It was a dream come true, although the dream easily became a nightmare. He was told to either help them hide the deaths, or quit, and he couldn’t imagine quitting. The system failed these kids, and Nezu wanted to help the kids no longer be victimized by the system wherever he could. One of these days, this blatant disregard for student safety will stop. It has to.
As he went backstage, Bakugou stood there, staring him down.
"Aizawa told me you tried to fix things," he said gruffly.
"Yes I did. I begged the financial department to fix things, but I was always told it's not in the budget. I'm tired of kids getting hurt and dying all the time. You're kids! You have your whole lives ahead of you, and it's getting exhausting constantly seeing it happen and feeling powerless to stop it."
"Thank you for sticking up for us Nezu." Nezu gave Bakugou a soft smile. It took load off his chest that Bakugou didn't hate his guts like most of his kids did. He's taking the fall for something that he actively tried to stop and is powerless to defend himself or his kids.
"You're a strong and smart kid. You can make sure this never happens again." These were his final words to his final student, walking out of the venue. The commission can fucking rot for all he cares. They deserve the reckoning that's coming, and do much more. Nezu can't wait to watch them burn.
Back in the venue, Aizawa walks up to Bakugou and pats him on the back.
"The backstage area isn't bugged. I checked numerous times," Aizawa said, moving to sit on the floor. "I hope you're ready for the storm that's coming. I know I'm not." Bakugou sat down next to his ex-teacher.
"I have good people on my side, so I'll be okay." Aizawa nodded, and they both sat there in a comfortable silence for a while, until Bakugou stood up. "I'll see you around."
From that day on, Bakugou was scheduling press conferences on top of media appearances, the fire in his heart burning brighter than ever. The commission felt the heat, and needed to do something and fast before they burn from the intensity.
At a morning talk show, Bakugou hyped himself up in the green room. The usual suspects were all gathered there, drowning him with encouragement.
"Baku-bro, I'll be on the sidelines with Akio in case you need us. Answer whatever questions you feel comfortable answering. If they ask you something that you don't wanna answer, don't. Tell them to move on, give them a dumb answer, whatever you want," Kirishima said, patting him on his back and smiling brightly. Bakugou scoffed and gave him a smirk.
"Go give 'em hell," Mina cheered. Bakugou walked out and got set up with his mic. He was ushered out to the stage the sound of cheering, it getting louder with each step he took. As he stood on the stage, the host tried to hug him, but Bakugou backed away, forcefully sticking his hand out for a handshake. When will these hosts learn not to touch him? The host shook his hand, and they broke to sit on their chairs.
"Hi Bakugou, it's nice to have you here," the host cheerily stated.
"Thank you for having me."
"You've been real busy lately, with this huge press tour," the host said, giving a sickly sweet smile. Bakugou could sense the malice behind it. She was so prim and proper, her nails clearly expensive, and her outfit was easily the cost of numerous houses. Her hair was perfectly coiled and she looked like a doll, and it sickened him.
"Yeah, well, I want to keep the incident with UA fresh in people's minds. We can't afford to forget it. We forget it and their deaths will mean nothing. Everything will continue as 'normal' and kids will go back to dying needlessly."
"So you're saying that it's all UA's fault," the host asked, clearly asking for clarification.
"Yes. Even in the case of Denki, where he was killed by a villain, it's still partially UAs fault because the villain wouldn't haven't been able to get on the campus if UA's security wasn't lacking."
"So if it was partially UA's fault for Denki's death, isn't it also your fault," the host asked, and Bakugou's blood ran cold. The crowd let out a soft "oooh" in response..
"What," Bakugou choked out, his heart rate starting to spike.
"Well, you're blaming UA. But you could have pushed the rubble out of the way. So isn't Denki’s death partially your fault," the host observed. Bakugou started to shake, and Kirishima ran onto the stage, placing Akio on his friend's lap. Bakugou started to hyperventilate and Kirishima took him through breathing exercises, simultaneously ripping off Bakugou's mic and throwing it to the side. The audience was dead silent, and the host looked awkward as they watched the scene unfold in front of her. The rest of the friend group ran out and surrounded Bakugou, to hide his breakdown from everyone's view. Mina stomped over to the host.
"How dare you! Do you know what you're saying?! Bakugou has been through hell and back! You don't think Bakugou hasn't blamed himself this whole time?! You sit here as a whole adult saying something like that to a child who witnessed their own friend died?!" The crowd murmured and started to boo, and the host attempted to calm down the audience, but the boos got louder. The group got up and helped Bakugou out of the studio.
After he got home, he got a call from Dr. Takami.
"Hey, how are you feeling right now," she asked.
"Like shit."
"That's understandable with what happened. I'm sorry that happened to you and on live television. I don’t have any appointments, so I can give you a quick session," she suggested.
"That would be great."
"Okay then. I'm glad you're using your exercises. I saw Kirishima went through them with you," she stated.
"Yeah. I appreciated it."
"Well, you understand it isn't your fault, right?"
"Yeah. I think she was paid by the commission to say that."
"What makes you think that," she asked.
"Because this was out of the blue. The commission felt public pressure mounting and they wanted to discredit me to alleviate some of it," he stated.
"Well, I know it had the opposite reaction. The support for you has skyrocketed, people admiring your bravery, and the strength you've shown in the face of all the things you've gone through. But no one is expressing pity, or insinuating you're weak. And I'll reiterate, you're such a strong kid, and you deserve none of the things that have come to you. You should have had a normal and trauma free childhood, but unfortunately not everyone can have that. So just keep your head up, alright?"
They spoke for two hours before she hung up, and once Bakugou was free of her, his mother knocked on his bedroom door.
"Katsuki, I don't really know how yo comfort you, but let me try my best," came from the opposite side of the door. He opened the door to see his mother standing outside. She looked almost sheepish, and rather than question it, he moved to the side and allowed her to enter his room. Moving to sit on his bed, they kept eye contact and sat down next to each other.
"Katsuki, you truly are the best Bakugou. I haven't been the beat mother at all, and I'm ready to acknowledge that. But seeing my baby in pain hurt more than anything else. I want to help. I want to find ways to make you feel more comfortable, because your emotions matter," Mitsuki sighed out. She knew she was lacking as a parent for some time, but her son isn't going to her at all in one of his darkest moments!. He hasn't shown her any emotions in a private setting, shutting her out mentally.
"Your father doesn't know I'm apologizing, but I love you Katsuki. You're my kid. I wanna protect you from all the bad things, even though you're becoming a hero. I want you to be be happy, healthy and secure," she continued, looking at Bakugou with tears in her eyes.
"Would you like you go to family therapy," Bakugou asked, and Mitsuki shook her head.
"Not right now. You have so much on your plate, and I don't wanna impede. Focus of healing yourself, and we'll focus on healing the family when you get to a good and comfortable point in your healing." Bakugou nodded, and Mitsuki stood up. "Please remember that you're loved by not just your father and I. You have a whole found family that you hang out with from your school. We have diy projects you guys can do so you aren't sitting in the house bored." Bakugou rolled his eyes, but smiled at his mother. She thinks this is the first time on a long time she's seen Bakugou smiling genuinely and she wants to do whatever it takes to keep that smile on her son’s face. She walked out, but not without giving Bakugou a small kiss on his forehead, which he grumpily accepted, and they both carried on with their days. Bakugou moved to write in his journal.
Hey Pika,
Today was fucking hard. Some chick on TV was trying to make it look like it was my fault you died. Can you fucking believe that?! It's not fair. She's a grown ass adult trying to bully me!! I think the commission paid her to say this. They want to discredit me and by association my claims, so that the backlash they face is lessened. But no, fuck them. I want them to suffer.
Oh, by the way, I appreciate you coming into my dreams lately. It's been super helpful. It helps me get back to a sense of normalcy. Although if you keep playing pranks, I'll fight you. I mean it.
For the next week, Bakugou was forced to go on a social media cleanse. Mina deleted all of the apps and Bakugou stayed at home, only going out when his friends picked him up.
As for the host? She was fired within an hour of the show's airing, and her show was quickly canceled. She didn't even offer an apology, her social media now silent.
For the next month, Bakugou was still doing his press tour, although it was a lot lighter than before. The questions were now screened, and if they veered off script even once, Bakugou would just leave mid interview.
It was so weird became now his face was plastered everywhere. He was constants getting recognized in public, and at first if was cool, but when he's starting to feel it encroach on his daily life, he's had enough. Rather than be kind to his fans, he would be mean, hoping they would get the hint that they aren't wanted. And it worked, kinda. His mean words and behaviors got so many people to leave him alone, but it also got people to find that behavior endearing. Those people, he thinks, are the worst. He'll tell them to fuck off, and they'll giggle and stay. He doesn’t know how many times he got them arrested for stalking, but it's starting to really get to him. Is what he's doing worth such flagrant disrespect of his personal boundaries and space? Unfortunately. Bakugou’s finds the answer to this is yes. So he holds that mindset close to his chest to remind him why he keeps going.
One morning, Bakugou was awoken to his phone's notifications going off non-stop. He opened his phone to see so many links being sent. He opened one of them to see UA in the news yet again, but for a different reason. He ran to his living room and turned on his TV, changing it to the nearing news channel.
"Thank you for joining us this morning, we have breaking news regarding UA. According to an anonymous source, the Public Safety Hero Commission was the reason behind the lack of safety at UA. Numerous news organizations were handed documents showing that they ignored pleas from high ranking UA staff, including formerly disgraced principal Nezu. With these documents, it looks like the UA staff and faculty were making efforts to protect the children while the Commission did nothing to make sure the kids are safe. We'll keep you updated with new information as we get it." Bakugou stood there in silence as Akio trotted over and rubbed himself against his legs. Bakugou picked the dog up and took him to his room, sobbing into him and holding him firmly.
Meanwhile, Aizawa sat in his office watching the news. His phone rang, and he picked it up, giving a gruff greeting.
"Aizawa, thank you for giving me courage. I wouldn't have done what I did without you. If the fire under them wasn't scalding before, it definitely is now." Aizawa was shocked at the sound of Nezu's voice, but before he could say anything, Nezu hung up. Aizawa sat there, processing.
UA tried to hold a press conference, but there was nothing they could really say to make people trust them again. To Bakugou, this felt like the fall of heroes after the Paranormal Liberation War. It was terrifying, because would society crumble yet again?
Aizawa called Bakugou to inform him of the press conference. The teacher offered Bakugou the chance to speak at his own press conference. Bakugou agreed, calling his friends to join him.
As he sat down at the table for the press conference, he sighed.
"Please keep your trust in the heroes, during this time. None of them knew. It'll be ridiculous for you all to attack heroes and hate them for something that isn't their fault. Direct your anger towards the executives at the commission. They're the bastards that let Denki die," Bakugou stated. The reporters asked questions, and Bakugou answered them briskly.
After the conference, Bakugou made his way home, emotionally drained. A small chirp sounded from his phone and he opened it to see a small text from Dr. Takami expressing her pride in him for going through the press conference.
As he opened his door, a couple of people in suits were waiting on his couch. He counted only three, all sitting on the same couch. Bakugou quickly turned his phone's recorder on, thankful that he had headphones on with an exposed mic.
"Bakugou Katsuki, we applaud you. You managed to turn the public against us. That's not an easy feat," the one in the middle said. So they're the leader, he noted to himself.
"The fuck do you want from me," Bakugou growled out.
"We want you to rescind your statements, and stop your tour of slander."
"Slander?! You all knew what was going on, and did nothing to stop it! In fact, you refused to do anything to stop it. Denki's blood, and every student who died due to your negligence's blood are on your hands. I hope that they haunt your dreams and that none of you find peace again."
"You don't want to get into a media war with us. You'll lose. We have the money, the resources and the connections to absolutely ruin you."
"Look at you, a grown ass adult threatening a kid. Are you and the commission really that scared of my voice? We're already in a media war. You started this when you had that host blame me on TV. But the funny thing is, you're losing the war. So your resources and shit mean nothing to me. But you're welcome to try." The person snarled and stood up, the others getting up.
"You'll regret this Bakugou," they stated.
"So will you." They stormed out of the house, and Mitsuki ran to hug Bakugou.
"You okay," she asked.
"Yeah, I'm just peachy," he spay out.
"We're gonna make sure they don't get away with this. How dare they threaten a child?! How dare they threaten my child? I want to make them regret every aspect of their lives," Mitsuki spat out. Bakugou gave his mother a feral smile.
"Of course, we'll give them hell. We're the Bakugous after all." Mitsuki’s grin resembled that of her son's afterhisstatement. .
"We'll make them regret it," Mitsuki spat out.
And regret it they did. Bakugou sent the recording to as many news stations as he possibly could. The news spread like wildfire. Protests sparked all over Japan, calling for the dissolution of the commission. By the end of the day, numerous high ranking officials had resigned, hitting about 16. By the end of the week, that number hit 80, including all of the chief officers. Pride filled his chest seeing these numbers. Bakugou knew this was only the start.
For months the commission's leadership was constantly changing, and after 6 months, the commission was fully disbanded, the hero rankings not mattering as much, simply devolving into a popularity contest. There were so many things to be said about that, but no really cared, the rankings turned into beauty pagent. UA's leadership also took a huge turn as well, hiring a team dedicated to student safety, hiring teachers and high ranking officers to make sure students are safe and protected. Countless amounts of funding that was liquidated from the now defunct commission was sent to UA for the upgrading and repairing of their security system.
Not before long, the school year started again, and Bakugou sat in the wings of a stage in front of UA. The class of 3-A stood around him. He was due to give a speech shortly, but opted to write a journal entry.
Hey Denks,
God this has all been a lot. We're in our 3rd year, and there's little changes in so many aspects of our lives. The school put a bunch of charging stations around the campus and called them "Chargebolt stations". Corny, I know. But it's hysterical, and you would have loved to see it.
UA looks super pretty now. They spent I don’t even know how much on renovations. The new administration said "no one has to die again" and meant it, and that's a relief. The new administration genuinely cares about student safety and well-being. They hired a bunch of therapists too, so that they could help students adjust to the massive changes that happened.
For me, I'm still the same Bakugou. I really do think you and Akio would get along well. He seems to like bothering me the same way you did, late at night. But I can sleep at night comfortably because of him.
Your parents constantly drop by my place to check on me. Our parents are now really good friends with each other, going out almost bi-daily. It's fucking weird, not gonna lie, but its also nice. It feels like a part of you is here with me also complaining about it.
Right now, I'm waiting to give a speech at the grand reopening of UA. I told you I did all those press tours, and people are saying that the renovations are because of me, so they tagged me to give the opening remarks. But to be honest, it's not fully my work. Kirishima, Mina, Sero, and Shinsou also helped me out greatly. But the biggest factor is you. I know you're cheering for me and that's what keeps me going. I imagine you're giving me an encouraging speech when I want to give up, and giving me that kind words that I needed. You're truly amazing Denks.
Bakugou closed his journal and moved to when the exit, hyping himself up for the speech. Akio is beside him, also excited, although it more because he got a new leash. His name is called, and he walks up the podium..
"Thank you for showing up. It took so much to get to this point, but I'm glad we're here. UA is safer, and we can make sure that Denki's death serves as a lesson in student safety. I pushed for this change, but if it wasn’t for the amazing people I get to call my friends,I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did. Their words of encouragement did more for me than they could ever know. It's a lot for us to have gone through, but for all of us involved, we have nowhere to go but up," he spoke into the podium. It's so weird when he has to sound well spoken, and not aggressive because people wouldn't want to listen to him and his message if he spoke and behave like he normally did. He felt a couple hands snake around him, and he turned to see Denki's parents behind him, holding him tightly. His own parents joined in the hug, and it quickly devolved into a cuddle puddle with Mina and the others also joining the group hug. It almost felt suffocating, but he didn't mind at all, focused on the feeling of his friends and family all together. The bright sun shone down on him, and in its warmth, he felt like Denki was hugging him, comforting him, and for the first time in a long time, Bakugou finally felt like everything would be alright.

Happy STS! How different are your characters now vs when you first created them? Is there anything you miss about their previous traits/personality?
Happy STS, and thank you for the question, Nopal! <3
I think I've mentioned in another post that the concept for Agent Ace came from an old fanfic I wrote, so the characters have been through quite the transformation! It's pretty fun looking back and seeing how much has changed.
Infodump below the cut, which may include minor spoilers. Also it's just a vomit of words, so read at your own risk XD
Sophia, then: The murder victim of the story! Her name was Ashley Cole, and she was already dead by the beginning of the story, so there was no opportunity to develop her as a character. She was still Harley's sister, but they were only 1-3 years apart (I don't remember how many at this point).
Sophia, now: One of the main protagonists whose POV we follow! This was completely unintentional all my part. When I adapted the story to original fiction, I wanted a legitimate detective character, but I still wanted her to have some sort of relation to Harley so the dual POVs weren't too disconnected. So they became sisters, and I killed someone else off to make it work for the story. Her new name, Sophia, came from an extraneous character I had scrapped (but the name still fit so I salvaged it), and for a long time, she was Sophia Cole. Her last name eventually changed to Colbo, which was the name of my student teacher in seventh grade who I had a little gay crush on.
It's also worth noting that Sophia and Harley were both white when I created them, but after a while, I started imagining them as biracial. Officially, they are Mexican (father's side) and Greek (mother's side).
Harley, then: The protagonist. In the original story, she was in her late twenties and I think she was a pizza delivery person? (my memory's a bit fuzzy on that one) But she was the police's prime suspect for the murder, the whole story was about her trying to clear her name by solving the mystery. Along the way, she uncovered secrets and became entangled in a new dangerous world. Her name has changed several times (she wasn't Harley until about a year ago), although her last name, Manalis, has stayed consistent. I got it from a name generator, but I'm a little unclear on whether or not it's a real name.
Harley, now: Still one of the protagonists, except now she's in college (ten years younger than Sophia) with an aspiration for robotics. She sort of split into two different characters when I rewrote the story, so a lot of Sophia's personality comes from her original character. I do miss the parts of her that had more worldly wisdom and experience, but she's still young, and I know she'll gain some as her story continues! Her affinity for robotics was also never really a thing until I made the switch into sci-fi, and that hobby change just made sense for her character.
Jade, then: Did not exist in any capacity!
Jade, now: Jade came to be when I realized that I hadn't given Harley any friends. She went through much of the story alone, and even the allies she'd made didn't stay with her at the end. I needed to give her one person she could truly rely on—one friend who could support her in her darkest hour.
And then, of course, I had that little voice inside of me asking, But what if they were gay? And since I'd already modeled Jade off of some of my closest friends and crushes at the time, the idea easily fell into place!
Max, then: A genius student who was enlightened about the supernatural and then targeted by the same people who killed Sophia's old character. He existed only in flashback perspectives, so he remained relatively static and didn't hold much weight in the grand scheme of the story.
Max, now: Not too much changed! His abduction still serves the plot, but he plays a much bigger role in the story. I made him a friend of Harley and Jade's, thus giving him a deeper connection, and took the opportunity to flesh him out. His personality ended up taking after mine, in a way. His anxiety and uncertainty was always present, but as I continued writing him, I discovered a sharper, sassier side of him that played into a strength I hadn't allowed him to have in the earliest draft.
Janus, then: The main antagonist and, funnily enough, Sophia's husband! He'd been manipulated into a twisted version of himself that led him to torture and kill—sort of like a possession/split personality. He was such a fun character to write, but as a person, he was absolutely vile. My readers hated him, and rightfully so!
Janus, now: He's still an antagonist, though he's much more morally gray. I really leaned into the dark humor, theatrics and charisma that made him so fun to write, and his softer, more protective personality manifested in Ahren, Sophia's new husband. He's still a bastard, and dangerous when he wants to be, but no longer sadistic. And like Sophia and Harley, he started out as white, but I rewrote him as half-Korean for Agent Ace.
Although he's no longer the Big Bad, he still has a big role to play through his existing connection to Sophia. But I dropped the idea that they were romantically involved as soon as Sophia became a major character. As a trope, enemies-to-lovers makes me really uncomfortable, and especially considering the power imbalance that already exists between them, that wasn't the relationship I wanted to write. Now they have more of a reluctant buddy-cop dynamic, which I think is much more entertaining!

First Meeting
Love this weeks @writer-wednesday challenge. Made me think about how Benny and doc met. The book in the story. Is the book that Garrett hedlund started in. On the road. Just to let you know Thank you @autumnleaves1991-blog for letting me write in this amazing universe . Sooo.. here is my take on that meeting
Tumblr media
So many things to trigger memories of the past.  Smells, sounds, people or.. places. One place is a pool. Not just any pool. The base pool.Where you met your best friend now is the one half of your heart. Reason for coming to this spot is to help with decorating the place for a party. Party for new recruits.  Looking across the way. Seeing two lounge chairs. Thought about a nice meeting. Between you and Benny Miller.
Flashback:
Base pool party . An ideal place to meet new people that might be working with in the near future. Was the general's idea. Want new recruits to meet others that have been stationed on the base for a while.  You and friend Blue were just that. Med school students working at the hospital.  You on the other hand had been out in the trenches.  Nerves of steel. One thing you are afraid of.  Deep water. Has to do with a childhood trauma that still scares you till this day.  Hope to get over.
Benny, and the others chatting about how they need another person to fill the vacancy of a team member they lost. Tom requested someone with medical training, and knows how to shoot. Told the others to mingle. Find out if there is someone that would fit the bill.
You and Blue lounging near the pool. After soaking in the shallow end of the pool. Getting out the book you tried to finish for months now. Benny walks towards you. Lifting up a hat," seems ya dropped this. " Pulling off your shades smiling," Thanks, my friend must have done that. She is always dropping things. " Looking at what you were reading. Benny smiles, " Love that book. One of my favorites. " Looking up at this tall , tanned ,blue eyed man. With dirty blonde hair," On the road is my go to book . Haven't gotten the chance to read it much since I have been busy. Medical students never have moments of peace." Chuckles as he sits down on the lounge," Same thing goes for being in the Delta Force.  Never know what you have to go or do. So.. how long have you been here?" Wow! You can't stop staring at him. So handsome to a fault. Putting the book down," Oh, a few days.  Completed basic two months ago.  Oh what fun being in the Carolinas.  So glad to be back in the lone star state.  Even if I have to work in the hospital till I have to venture out into the field." Benny remembers what Tom said about the person they need. Looking at you for a moment, " Say, how about we get out of there. This party is getting boring. We can go somewhere less distracting. Could compare notes on the book. Also other things."  Getting your stuff. Asked, " Didn't catch your name soldier." Cleared his throat," Ben Miller at your service. You can call me Benny ."Blushing again," I'm Y/N. No nickname yet" Blue sees what happened.  Smiling at you . Thinking there might be something there. Since she watched the whole thing while chatting with a blonde hair soldier at the bar.
The two of you had a great time. Chatting about stuff.Seems like both of you have a lot in common. From music to books. Even childhood in a small town.  Benny started to feel something in his soul. Never felt like this with any women he dated. Too early to say that he might have found his soulmate.
Being the gentleman he is.Walked you to your apartment door. Both of you stare at one another for another moment.  You didn't want this to end . Cleared your throat," Hate for this to end,but we have a big day tomorrow. Hope to see you again " Benny looks at you smiling as he leaves," I'll be counting down the days till then."
Arrived at his shared apartment.  Will comes out of his room smiling," See you had a nice time . Did you forget about what Tom said? If you did? I'll kick your ass from  to here to Colorado!" Getting a drink as he goes to his bedroom," Yes ,and yes"
Next morning the general comes by the hospital to tell you that you have been picked to be a part of a new squad. Hoping they aren't like the last squad you were a part of. Opening the hangar door. The general goes over to a group of soldiers, " Gentlemen, I'm here to solve your problem.  Found you a person who came highly recommended to fill in your vacancy. Doc! Come here please." Slowly approaching the others . See a familiar face! Benny!
Present day:
After putting the finishing touches on the table. Looking at your work. Felt a pair of strong familiar hands around your waist. Scent of musk and sweet smells . Smiling," Mmmm… love that smell. Take me back to the first day we met. Never thought I'll meet someone who would steal my heart." Kissing your forehead, " Roger that sweetheart.  Still think about that day. Also how lucky to be married to you,and Santiago.  Everything I ever dreamed of was right here. That's you Benny baby.  So.. how about helping me.  Soon I will finish. Soon we can go to the other spot we love so much." Taking your hand as he leads you to your other part of your heart.  Smiling," Who would have guessed that both of you met here. Sadly, I wasn't at the party. Would have met you first baby girl.  Universe had other plans for us. So.. how about we get out of here.  Time to head back home to our new pool." Three of you went home to start more new memories in your new home.

Great! I might have enjoyed this movie so much because it was not only more like the films I'm used to but also seriously comedic, serious, and romantic. Best of all, the film ended happily! There was such a cathartic sense of relief just hearing characters talk to each other throughout the film and especially in the final scene. I also switch between using Sugihara and Lee a lot!
First, the film has such an interesting "show, don't tell" technique. The technique introduces a concept or statement through narration first and then follow up with a scene that proves the truth to the audience. The best example I can think of is Jong-ll's introduction. Sugihara says this is the friend he respects the most. At this point, the audience has already seen a flashback in which Sugihara has already decided to go to a Japanese school and forego his North Korean identity. He has been outed by a friend and the teacher, outraged, is about to throw a chair at his hand. Forgetting what led into this scene, the audience is sucked back into the past as the teacher continues to abuse Sugihara. Suddenly, a voice rings out in Japanese! The film pans back to see Jong-ll lit up by a bright window, standing alone as the students back away from him. He does look like a nerd and he looks pathetic but that makes his rebellion more impressive. Of course, he gets beaten too. While giving us direction in Sugihara's narration, the film shows us one moment behind his respect for Jong-ll. At least, I was convinced why the two had such a great relationship. Funny enough, Sugihara respects Jong-ll for his bravery (and also introducing him to new media) but Jong-ll came to respect Sugihara first for his own bravery!
The film repeatedly comes back to this use of flashback that keeps evolving and shows us more of the people affected by Lee's bravery and justified anger. "3 years ago" the film says before it shows us the "Super Great Chicken Run". The audience, Lee's upperclassmen, AND Jong-ll are there to witness Lee's intense courage and will to keep running for his life. This is when Jong-ll is so inspired by Lee that he begins to become more brave too. However, the best example has to do with Lee's love story of course! The basketball scene, the very first scene, is flashed back to repeatedly over the film, I only realize this now but the first time this flashback ends, Lee is turning to look at something. We find out what - who - when we see this flashback for the last time from Tsubaki's perspective. His girlfriend is someone else who respects and loves his courage (in this case, his straightforwardness and ability to follow through) but also sees his silly side too. She stands strong against his shouts, hearing out the things she said that hurt him and also hearing the things that he's decided about his identity (I'm a question mark! A big x!). That forwardness is something she's already seen and likes him for! This is probably why, even though she said she was so scared the last time they met, this time she had the resolve to follow through like Lee.
The discrimination that Sugihara suffers is different from the discrimination many Americans face. There was still something horribly relatable about his struggle for identity inside and outside himself and his shouting at the end of the film touched my heart for that reason. The push-and-pull between nationalities and ethnicities; the insistence on others for Lee to pick a side and risk becoming a traitor or forced to become an "ambassador" (the binary represented by the two teachers in the North Korean school); being forced to drop one nationality for another because of the opportunities; people picking fights or calling you dirty/looking at you with contempt because of your identity - all these things are already topics of discussions for Americans and Sugihara bursting through all the delicate boundaries and feelings to just say, "I don't care! I'm a big question mark"? That was amazing. Not Japanese, not South or North Korean, rejecting all these identities at the same time but also being able to accept all of them, how Lee feels about his identity is complicated but at the end of it all is just "me!" I guess about Sugihara I feel the same way as Jong-ll and Tsubaki!

wildflower
pairing: cedric diggory x hufflepuff!reader
summary: you weren't too sure what to think when a new eye candy transfers to hogwarts and becomes the new seeker of the hufflepuff's quidditch team but you realize in time that he is all of what you hoped for.
word count: 3.7k

note: so this is all just a bunch fluff. i'm not sure how i feel about it in terms of cringey and hope y'all like it! figured i'd post this anyways either way though lol. i made up the way reader and cedric met at hogwarts so, it's non-canon from the movie.
another note: italics are flashbacks! :)
Tumblr media
it was cold.
you could see everybody’s breath in the air outside and knew it was a crime to be out and about now with freezing and chilly weather.
the snow outside coated the ground by inches and the black coats zippered up and wrapped around you only helped so much. you were the type to freeze easily and the climate at hogwarts didn't help your situation at all.
minutes ago before you walked outside, you knocked on the door to his dorm after surveying the hufflepuff’s common room and noticed there weren't very many people around. and when cedric opened the door after you rapped on it a few times—he took in the view of your body wrapped around your blanket before pulling you into his room.
pathetically enough, you were shivering in the halls even with your mitten covered hands stuffed in the pockets of your coat. you weren't about to admit the doubled up socks on each of your feet either underneath the knee-length boots you wore today.
"are you cold?" cedric successfully taunted you when you reached your arm out of the pocket of your jacket and then under the blanket to slap his arm. he hissed and glared your way playfully while rubbing his arm dramatically.
you shrugged with a smirk on your lips and he plopped down onto his soft bed. “don’t get too comfortable.” he suggested when noticing you trying to sneakily get underneath his covers.
“what i’d do for one of those thermal blankets the muggles use.” you sighed dreamingly while watching him walk towards his closet.
“imagine having a postal company deliver the package to hogwarts? dumbledore would have an aneurysm.” cedric replied and you couldn’t help yourself when imagining the scenario playing out in your mind.
he turned to the side to admire your smile while you were a little distracted while pulling out a coat. then he closed the closet up and walked back over, holding it in your direction to offer an extra to put over your body. you gladly took it with a smile. "thanks ced."
cedric backed up a few steps and brushed a hand through his brunette hair. not being able to help himself he joked, “can’t have you walking around with your blanket wrapped around you. your height already makes you look so adorable.”
you got off from the bed when he exaggerated with your blanket in hand and scoffed. cedric bit his lip nervously while continuing to back up before he felt the wall pressed against him.
he rubbed the back of his nervously while you held the blanket up to his height and above your own head. “i’m just kidding.” he gulped before you took it and put it over his face.
when he tugged it down from his face he spotted you innocently standing by the door with his jacket around you. “i was going to leave it here anyway. just put it on the bed and i’ll come get it later after we get back.”
while you zippered it up you noticed this particular jacket was the one that you often saw him wearing before he ended up buying a new one for the upcoming winter that you were suffering in now.
and it was longer than the one you had previously put on about twenty minutes ago so, you couldn't argue with him on that steal.
"alright.” he laughed and added with a more serious tone. “oh and by the way—you don't need to thank me. you're my best friend, wildflower."
today was the first quidditch match of the season and you were sitting at the edge of your seat in anticipation. the hufflepuffs didn't score well last season and you were hoping they wouldn't come out with last place again for the year.
y/g/b/f (your girl best friend) sat down on the stands next to you with an umbrella in her hands. you turned and looked at it with a confused face. but she just smiled at your contemplating thoughts and looked up at the sky once before supplying you with an answer.
“well it looks bright now but i have a feeling it’ll rain later.” she always had a suspicion for when it was going to rain or snow and you never second guessed her because every single time she was right.
“did you know we’re having a new seeker play on the team today? i believe he’s going to be captain too if he plays his cards right this game.” she asked. you didn’t know that.
“wait is he the new guy everybody is talking about? i heard the rumors but you know how they are. i didn’t want to take it seriously until i saw it with my own eyes.” you stated and she nodded.
“yeah he’s a transfer i think but i’m not too sure. his name is cedric diggory though.” after her reply, you glanced around the stands to see if anybody had diggory signs for the game but with no avail you sighed. before you could respond you felt a few droplets on your shoulder.
your friend gave you a smart-ass grin and popped out the umbrella to hold it over the both of you. “guess we’ll see how good he is.” you mumbled before seeing the players come up to the playing area with their brooms.
butterbeer was pretty popular during the winter season. many students from school usually went and got some to help regulate their body temperature and keep warm.
everybody else must have gotten the same memo because you were inside the three broomsticks now for some butterbeer and it was crowded.
almost every table was filled with peers and that’s probably why you didn’t see many people in the school. with just one glance around the area, you could already tell the divided area’s of where each school was seated right away.
your tables were to the left area, the slytherins must have come earlier because they grabbed the back ones, some of the ravenclaw’s were off to the right, while harry and the other gryffindor’s had the middle area.
cedric nudged your side to grab your attention and nodded towards the hufflepuff area. “want to grab us some seats and i’ll get the drinks?” he asked and you nodded. “sure, could you get me a snack too if you don’t mind?”
he smiled and tucked his hands into the pockets of his jeans. “i suppose i could.” cedric walked away with a wink and you shook your head knowing he was just humoring you.
little did you know he already had planned to get you something else even before the two of you left the dorms. it had gotten to the point where asking him for little things hadn’t bothered you because you reciprocated all of the time.
but sometimes cedric would give you little excuses when it was your turn to pay, just so he could end up paying for whatever you guys were having or getting. he always spoiled you.
"ah the golden girl is here." hermione scoffed and watched you walk towards the hufflepuff area. your other best friend was seated already and started talking to you when you sat.
the brunette from the red colored house didn't particularly dislike you since you were always nice. sometimes you chatted with her while working on a project that you were paired for. then other times you gave her a soft smile when catching her eye while walking in the halls towards your next class.
she definitely couldn’t help but respect and admire you.
but the reason she didn’t put herself out there and try to befriend you was because you were one of the girls known in school for your smartness, quick reflexes, and witty attitude.
when people from school talked about you and referred to you as the golden girl instead of your name most of the time—it wasn’t that you were golden per-say but the fact that it matched up perfectly with the school’s color that you sorted it.
hufflepuff was known for its represented yellow color.
and there’s no doubt about it that hermione was also known around the school. but, she felt it was for all of the wrong reasons. despite not having it any other way as one of harry's best friends, she wondered if not for him that in an alternate lifetime that she would be you.
“why is she wearing cedrics jacket?” ron asked after following hermione’s stare. harry thumped him on the back of his head and then shook his own. “why does it matter?” the one with a thunderbolt on his forehead replied.
“well it is interesting, isn’t it?” the brunette said in defense of ron’s question. the one who didn’t seem curious at all took a sip of the butterbeer in front of him.
he licked his lips, thinking then replied to them with a response. “i mean it’s not our business but it is an odd find now that you pointed it out. maybe he’s just being friendly?”
“as if! cedric has had a crush on y/n since he met her. she’s just oblivious to it all,” she paused and tapped her chin. “—or is she?” ron gasped at her accusation but took a sip of his own drink before she could hear his outburst.
harry noticed her getting riled up once again and sighed. “well i don’t know what else to say. maybe you should just introduce yourself already and ask her instead of me.” he shrugged and hoped to end the conversation there.
you knew exactly who cedric diggory was when he swiftly passed by the hufflepuff area during the game. of course, he was wearing yellow.
the game has been going on for a decent amount of time now and he was stacking up the scores on the quidditch board—easily passing by the score of the gryffindor’s team.
cedric was undoubtedly the new eye candy for the whole school with the gasps and ‘awes’ from the other girls sitting in the stand. your friend was so busy watching harry that she didn’t catch the commotion.
you didn’t really pay attention to him to get a good glance at his face so, you thought he was just another arrogant rich boy and rolled your eyes.
what you didn’t notice was the way it was like a slow-motion love at first sight situation for him when he went by. since it stopped raining through the middle of the game he was able to catch a quick view of you.
the week wasn’t done yet so it was possible he’d be seeing more of you in another class he hadn’t had yet. and cedric hoped you were because he couldn’t help but look over in your direction throughout the game to catch another glimpse of your face.
it was still humid outside and you tried wiping your makeup a few minutes ago since it was under your eyes now, but you only smudged it further. your robe was drenched with your wavy and half-dried hair now lying down the back of it.
but he didn’t care what you thought about yourself because he knew without a doubt that you were the prettiest girl there.
“cedric’s looking pretty good today.” y/g/b/f voiced for the first time today. you played with the napkin in your hand while trying to get a glimpse of cedric.
“i don’t think you would know even if he was—since you spend all your time looking at harry.” cedric was up to the counter now waiting for your butterbeer and food.
“uh huh. don’t think i haven’t admired cedric before from afar though.” after a moment of not answering her, y/g/b/f noticed that you weren’t paying attention. you knew exactly what she was hinting towards.
cedric did look good.
his hair had that ‘just woken up’ style to it and he always managed to look even more attractive then he should have. the yellow scarf wrapped around his neck was the one that came with every hufflepuff’s supplied uniform clothing.
he usually wore it when you sat with him in potions on a chilly morning and you caught yourself wanting to take it off of him and wear it sometimes.
he always smelled good and it comforted you in ways a best friend shouldn’t have the ability to.
you seemed to have let your guard down and stared longer then you should have which confirmed what y/g/b/f already knew. “i knew it!” she chuckled and stated more loudly than the last comment to snap you out of the zoned out state you were in.
“know what?” you asked while placing the napkin back down on your table.
cedric was reaching the table and you wanted the conversation to end quickly. you usually dragged out conversation topics like this so you had time to think of another one to distract her with. but, she always found a way to circle it back around again.
you had to shut it down before he could hear, already knowing exactly what she wanted to talk about again.
“i’ll tell you later before our curfew.” y/g/b/f smirked and you sighed knowing she would in fact take the time out of her night to find you before bed. lucky you.
“hey y/g/b/f. how has your day been?” he asked your other friend while sitting down and placing your refreshments in front of you and then doing the same with his.
she grinned at you then glanced over at him, “pretty good i guess if it wasn’t for this weather i would say great. how about you? and how’d you manage to get this one out?” she gestured towards you, causing you to roll your eyes.
here we go again.
you were walking down the path back to the hogwarts dorms with y/g/b/f and some others. there was going to be a small celebration in the hufflepuff’s common room and other students were trying to hurry back without raising suspicions with any professors nearby.
“hey, i’ll be right back y/n/n. i see luna and i’m going to go ask her if she has a hair tie.” she said and pointed to the curly knots that she had on her shoulders.
you nodded and continued along the path while she walked over to the other side. it was quiet for a moment and you surveyed the peaceful area, a few feet over in the grass was a small patch of flowers.
you were about to take a quick look at them before feeling someone tap your shoulder. it was sudden and you couldn’t help but quickly move to the side and form a fist. you were about to throw it but stopped when you stared wide-eyed at the person who scared you.
cedric felt awful and only after he startled you did he realize that you were looking off in the distance of the area. the way you jumped though seemed that you were quick on your feet and he couldn’t help but smirk at the new name he had for you.
“hey i’m sorry for startling you wildflower but i just wanted to introduce myself. i’m cedric diggory.” he introduced with a panty-dropping smile.
you weren’t sure if it was some kind of joke so you treaded carefully. “uh it’s okay, it’s my fault really for not paying attention but i’m y/n y/l/n. nice to meet you ced.”
cedric held out his hand for you to shake and you took it, giving him a firm shake. after you let go he smirked and questioned. “ced, huh?”
he crouched down to pick up a flower that you were looking at earlier and it reminded you to ask, “wildflower, huh?” you met his statement equally and folded your arms together so they were across your chest to look more tough.
his cheeks tinted a minor shade of pink and tried to hide his embarrassment by ducking down and ignoring your question. instead he glanced back up to tuck a hair behind your ear and then placed the flower there.
“yes, wildflower.”
and how could you argue with him when he was being so sweet?
the two of you made it back to the common room after an hour of eating, then chatting with cedric and your other best friend. he was sitting on the bed with you sitting next to him.
you’ve been sitting for only about a minute or so—only enough time to shrug off your jackets and place them on the desk chair between that time after walking back to his dorm.
“would you like to lay down for a few minutes?” cedric asked when he noticed the tiredness shown clear as day on your face.
“sure” you agreed and you laid down while he shook your blanket out for the two of you to use. his eyebrows scrunched together when he realized it wouldn’t make much of a difference in comfort with how small it was.
you chuckled watching him trying to maneuver it around and he glanced your way with a smirk of defeat. “hmm, seems this blanket is a little small. would you like to go under the covers?”
cedric was giving into what you wanted earlier before the two of you left and he knew that too. the three broomsticks' food was delicious as always and you just wanted to relax for a few minutes after getting teased by your friend.
he grinned watching you get comfortable after the both of you were situated under the sheets and yellow comforter. there was a hufflepuff patch ironed onto it and you rubbed your thumb over it while laying down.
it wasn’t that awkward since you’ve fallen asleep in his arms a couple of times before already. class exams were frustrating and took a lot out of the students so he took comfort in you and vice versa when there was some down time during the weekends throughout the school year.
with an arm around you—he pulled you close to the point where you could feel his warm breath along your neck. “i don’t think you realize how much i treasure these moments y/n/n.”
he spoke breathlessly and you gulped slowly. you were dumbfounded with how seriously he said that. as if it had some kind of hidden meaning behind it. “me too.” you agreed and wondered if he would leave it at that.
but you knew better and cedric never left well alone when he wanted to get a point across. he turned your body slowly with the arm he had around your middle and you faced him with confusion.
he glanced down once before looking back up and continued on with his confession while staring into your doe eyes—a color he deemed his favorite the day that he met you.
“i’ve been fighting myself for a while on whether or not i should tell you this because i didn’t want my feelings to ruin our friendship. i’d rather be your friend than not be a part of your life at all. and i always look forward to seeing you e-everyday.” he paused when his voice cracked.
after cedric cleared his throat he continued, “and i totally understand if you don’t share the same feelings with me but i just couldn’t go on another day without telling you how i—” you cut him off by leaning in and brushing your lips against his.
he moved closer on the bed, so his skin was touching yours. cedric wanted to get as close to you as he possibly could. your hand swept through his brunette curls and you surprised him by tugging it.
he never knew what you were going to do and his friends teased him that you were a wildcard, to which he’d correct them and say you were his wildflower.
cedric smirked into the kiss and you groaned knowing he was being a smart-ass. but in return, he shocked you when he placed a hand delicately on your cheek to cup it rather softly.
he rubbed your cheek while your hand massaged his curls and then moved them downwards to the nape of his neck.
cedric pushed the hair back from your neck with his hand and then placed it back so his thumb splayed across on your cheek in a loving gesture. and you only wanted him closer after feeling sensitive about the whole astonishment that still had you stunned to the core.
you tugged the collar of his shirt and he pulled away with puffy, red lips and a smile. “what’s wrong?”
“i don’t know, i’m just emotional.” you voiced squeakily and full of embarrassment about it. cedric shook his head and before patting his chest, he held up the comforter over the both of you and let the minimal cold air in.
“oh, baby it’s okay. come here and let's cuddle a little before curfew.”
you bit the bottom of your lip and nodded, giving him a smile in return to the one he gave you and then crawled onto him. “i think i like baby better.” you voiced and laid on his chest with your head over his heartbeat.
he let go of the comforter when he noticed you were settled and tugged it firmly around both of your bodies. “better then what?” he asked.
“wildflower.” you admitted and hummed nervously while awaiting his response. you felt cedric shake his head and he put his arms around your body so you were pressed firmly against him before he kissed your forehead.
“you’ll always be my wildflower.” you closed your eyes after giving him a quick kiss on the cheek in response.
after a moment of laying back down you could feel his chest rising up and down in an odd pattern so, you put your head up to see him laughing again at you.
“what now?” you questioned trying to keep a serious facial expression but failing when he grinned.
“guess you got what you wanted, hmm?” cedric said—referring to the fact that you were finally under the comforters and you smirked.
“of course i always do. including finally getting you, ced.”

Pairing : Gojo Satoru x reader
Warning: angst
Tumblr media
You can describe THE gojo satoru by many things but being humble isn't one of them. True, he's strong but sometimes you just wanna toss him to a pot of boiling water just to shut him up especially when his egotistical, self entitled self comes out
"Hey Yn, are you sure you won't need me in this mission, with me there you won't hav-"
"no thank you gojo" you cut him off, trudging towards the office spotting nanami reading a newspaper acknowledging the presence of both you and the puppy trudging behind you still not shutting up
"good morning yn" the ex salaryman greeted in which you immediately returned
Nanami returned to his newspaper while you started sorting some papers on your desk
"hey where's my good morning" gojo inquired to the salaryman, feigning hurt. Nanami only ignored the sorcerer, this caused you to crack a snort
"yn, did you just laugh at me?"
"did i?" you said, playing the innocent card
The entire morning, gojo was blabbering away. You managed to escape this since it was time for class but this wasn't the case for the ex salaryman
"satoru, shut up"
"no"
"this is why Yn doesn't like you"
Expecting a snarky remark from gojo, nanami was prepared to counterattack but, only silence came, this of course made nanami look at gojo
Gojo can only sigh cause him too, knows that Yn doesn't like him
"Why don't you try again" Nanami suggested
"can't, i feel like if i do Yn's never going to talk to me again" the sorcerer said, his voice sounded scared "and i don't want that" he added
"can't really blame her after what you did 5 months ago, I'm more surprised she's still talking to you" nanami said reminiscing what happened 5 months ago
"yeah, I'm quite glad for that eventhough she never calls me by my name anymore" gojo painfully stated
Flashback
During the time where Inumaki, Panda and Maki was still first years*
A second grade curse appeared and you were tasked to exterminate it alongside with the cinnamon roll as a way for him to gain actual combat experience
"Yn.....yn..hey yn"
"what is it satoru" you deadpanned
"I'm coming with you" he beamed and you can feel the stress coming your way
"can i say no"
"no"
You asked a clearly futile question
You, inumaki and satoru arrived at the scene with no curse in sight yet. After a few minutes, you received a call saying that their was another curse terrorizing in the isolated parts of roponggi
You immediately informed your two companions about the distress call, you opted to either you or satoru to go to the site and exterminate the curse but satoru was not cooperating grumbling not wanting to split up with you.
With how uncooperative satoru was, you took matters into your own hands and decided to go.
"Toge, i want you to be careful ok, you can retreat if it becomes too much, the most important thing is for you to be safe" you said patting the bean
"satoru, i need you to keep toge safe"
"yeah sure"
"satoru I'm serious, watch over him"
"yeah i get it, you don't have to worry, I'm the strongest after all"
You bid your goodbyes and went to roponggi and the curse was a tricky one so it took more time than you thought, by the time you were done exterminating it an hour have passed
But before you can go back to toge and satoru you needed to help the injured first
Once you were done, you wasted no time to go back to your two companions
You expected the curse to be exterminated there as well, since satoru was there, it's quite reassuring that he's strong
But what you didn't expect when you arrived was toge bleeding and almost being consumed by the curse with no gojo satoru in sight. Your body moved before you can fully comprehend everything. What matters right now was your student's safety
You managed to save the boy almost immediately and get rid of the curse, might be because of the overflowing adrenaline cursing through your body
After ensuring that the curse was gone, you immediately went to toge's side to see how bad his state was. You wasted no time to carry the boy and seek medical help
Arriving at headquarters you immediately went to ieri begging her to save the boy and ieri immediately did so.
After a few minutes nanami arrived after hearing the news, both worried for you and the boy inside the operating room. You were pacing back and forth and biting the end of your nails. After an hour ieri emerged from the room and you could feel a thousand worth of relief wash over you as she told you that toge was fine and is now resting
Tears were rolling down endlessly, frightened by the thought of losing one of your precious students. Just as you were bawling your eyes out he arrived
Satoru arrived carrying a zundan and cream flavored kikufuku smiling and waving at you
You stomped towards satoru and slapped him hard coating your hand with cursed energy but this bastard had infinity on, but that didn't stop you to curse every inch of his being
"THE HELL ARE YOU SHOWING YOUR FACE HERE FOR, YOU BETTER GRIT YOUR TEETH SATORU CAUSE I'LL BOIL YOU ALIVE! IT WAS REASSURING TO KNOW THAT YOU WERE STRONG BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T DO MUCH WHEN YOUR A SELF ENTITLED EGOTISTICAL SCUMBAG DOES IT" you were screaming every curse at the sorcerer, not minding how your insults have stooped so low
"YOU BETTER THANK THE HEAVENS THAT TOGE'S ALIVE CAUSE IF WORST COMES TO WORST, I CAN PROMISE YOU I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN TILL MY LAST BREATH" you added, not wanting to hear anything from him, you turned on your heel and went to toge's side
He was stunned, you were screaming profanities at him, you were covered in blood, and your tears were flowing nonstop. He didn't mean for this to happen. He left toge cause he thought the curse was too easy to kill, but that wasn't the case for toge, he was still a first year learning and needed guidance and satoru failed to give that
He left toge believing nothing bad will happen, he went to get sweets and share them with you after this mission was done, and finally confess to you
But now he knows he can't do any of that cause he knows you'll never forgive him. He tried to follow you but nanami stopped him saying that he'll only make it worse if he follow you now
After the incident, you treated gojo as if he never existed, you didn't talk to him for months, what can i say you definitely knows how to hold a grudge.
Four months later, with a little convincing from almost everyone, you started to talk to him little by little but it's not the same
You never call him by his name anymore nor do you agree to go with him to any missions. His can't even call himself as your friend anymore
Cause now you're only treating him as a mere colleague
A/N: halu, i woke up and was craving angst, its a bit lengthy but i hope you like it❤️

“There’s nothing worse than that.” Professor Seong joked, giving off his signature smile. A few chuckles and laughs came from the hall. I was one of them. I always sat in the same spot. Three rows, three seats to the left that gave me a direct view to him. I planned to sit in the back rows. I was never one to try and participate. I much would rather glide through a class than cause attention. That was until I walked in the room first day.
I saw him greeting others at the front of the class, instantly noting how handsome he was. He had to be the youngest professor I'd seen on that campus. Even today, that might be true. He dressed in sleek suits, looking almost like a businessman than a professor. Everyone seemed to like him. He had a certain charisma that was hard to pin down and his humor made it easy to speak to him. I felt my cheeks heat as I started to walk down the hall stairs. It felt rude not to introduce myself, everyone else was. I'd probably grab his attention more if I didn't. Is that a bad thing?
I swallowed my embarrassment as the student before me left, being met with a warm smile from him. "Good Morning. I'm Professor Seong, I'm glad to be your professor this semester." He said, a hand extending towards me. I grasped his hand as I said, "I'm (Y/N). I hope to learn a lot this semester." His hand grasped mine, returning his smile. As we shook hands we stared at each other. His hand felt warm, and more importantly, no rings. "That's my goal." He replied, giving my hand a small squeeze before letting go. I gulped nothing as I bowed slightly, going towards the first rows. I could have sworn that was a smirk that he gave me but I could just be taking things further than they were. As I sat, he went to his desk, glancing at me before standing to introduce himself to the small class.
He finished with the lecture as I snapped out of my flashback. That was in the beginning of the semester. Now its almost three weeks until the end which meant exams. My grade wasn't bad but could definitely be better. "Are there any other questions?" He asked as he placed a marker down. I glanced around. No one was doing anything. Many of them had already packed and were joking. Another was drawing  as some just looked down. As fun as he is, I suppose his new professor status made it easy to slack off.  I felt bad. He was genuinely interested in the work and he tried to make it fun. I wish they would appreciate him more. My cheeks flushed as I imagined how I would show my appreciation. Maybe that's why my grade is so low. I'd rather fantasize than do anything. He cleared his throat before saying, "Then you're dismissed. I'll have office hours later in the afternoon today so if you need to, please make sure to meet me then." I packed my things as people started leaving the class. Once I was ready to leave, only two or three students remained as Professor Song sat at his desk, beginning to flip through papers. As he read, he reached to his tie, loosening it as well as a button. It was hard not to stare but I did so, making my way towards the exit with the last students. It was difficult not to think of him in that way. He was everything I fantasized about and now he had an excuse to hold office hours late. If I came at the last minute, I highly doubt there'd be anyone else around. As I walked out, I glanced back, seeing him let out a loud sigh. He could use the appreciation.
I tried to slow my heartbeat as I walked back towards the lecture hall, the sun disappearing and the halls abandoned. I clutched my bag, taking deep breaths. I'm just going for essay help, that's it. If  something else happened, I wouldn't be against it. It wouldn't be too suspicious. I was wearing the same skirt and blouse as earlier, though I did add a bit more makeup. That wasn't too obvious. I hope.
Opening the door, I glanced, seeing he was sitting at his desk, alone. He looked up as I walked in. I was surprised to see him wearing glasses. He never wore them during class. His blazer and tie were gone, leaving him in a white dress shirt.  "(Y/N)." He said, putting down the pen he had in his hand. "I apologize, Professor, is it too late to come for help?" I asked, letting the door shut behind me. He shook his head. "No, it's not, you came just in time. I was planning on leaving in a few minutes." He replied. Shit, he probably has something to do. Of course he would, he's a busy man!
I felt like an idiot. "I-I could come back another day." I said nervously, beginning to feel my cheeks burn. "(Y/N), it's fine." He said, giving me a small smile. I nodded as I made my way towards him. He removed his blazer from a seat and pulled it, placing it at the end of his desk. "Thank you. I'm sure you've been busy." I said as I sat, him shifting his seat to face me. "Busy with assignments, not tutoring. You'd be surprised how little students actually take advantage of it." He said. "If only they would." I said. "What did you want me to help you with?" He asked, eyes looking into mines. “Last weeks essay.” I said as I pulled the essay out of my bag. I placed it on the table as I said, “You said I needed to polish my thesis. I’d like to know more.” He nodded. “Of course.” He said, moving his chairs closer to me. He looked down at the paper, reading over the introduction. I stared at him as he did so. I never thought I’d fall for a man years older than me. Who wouldn’t fall for him though? He looked beautiful as he read the paper, his profile and skin looking soft. He had a light stubble across his cheeks. He should let his beard grow out. He must look amazing with one. Would he kept it clean cut? He probably would. Would-
Suddenly, his head turned, looking at me. “(Y/N)?” He asked. It sounded like he was repeating it. “Excuse me?” I replied, looking away in embarrassment. Was he asking something? Ugh, I was supposed to be here for ‘tutoring’ and yet I couldn’t pay attention. He cleared his throat, looking away from me for a moment. He stayed silent as I saw his jaw clenched, looking deep in thought.“I can’t help but notice you’re constantly distracted. Are you like this in your other classes?” He said as he looked back. His gaze seemed more intense. My breath hitched as he kept eyesight. “I’m sorry.” Going against the nervous pit in my stomach, I relaxed against the chair I sat on, spreading my legs. The skirt fabric flitted between my thighs. “I get distracted.” I said, keeping my hands on the armchairs. His adams apple bobbed as he watched me, taking a deep breath before responding. “What makes you distracted?” He asked, scanning my body. I don’t know why that turned me on more. “You, Professor.” I spread my legs a bit further. “I need help with something else.” I said. He groaned as his eyes roamed my body. “How is that?” He asked, staring back at me. I never got to say it out load before. “I need you to help me cum.” I said, bringing a hand to my thigh and grazing the inside of it. I could hear him take in a deep breath.
"Was there anyone outside as you came here?" He asked. I shook my head. "Go lock the door." He said, removing his glasses. "Why?" I asked. "Do you want someone to walk in on us?" He asked. He smirked as he watched me drop my bag, rushing to the door to lock it. Locking the door, I walked back. I watched as he relaxed back in his leather chair, his arms draped on the armchair. I took a deep breath as I saw him nod to me. Taking his cue, I walked up to him, moving my legs to either side of his legs. Sitting on his lap, I moved my hands to grab onto his shoulders. Our faces were inches away from each other. I let out a shaky breath, feeling as his hands rested on my hips. "What’s next?" He asked. "You kiss me." I answered. His lips slammed into mines, moaning as he pushed our hips together. We moved against each other before he bit on my bottom lip, causing me to moan as I grinded down onto him. The skirt allowed for easy access, the thin lace underwear rubbing against his slacks. I let my mouth fall open, enjoying the way his tongue felt against mines. We both stayed like that for a few minutes. Enjoying the way each other felt and trying to take it all in. I’ve wanted this for so long and in my fantasies he’d be thinking the same. I just wanted to savor it for so long.
I groaned as my hands grasped tightly on his shoulders. My wetness grew as his cock did underneath me. I pushed against him, huffing as I said, “Hold on, Professor.” He let go, chuckling slightly. “It’s Gihun. Just call me Gihun.” He replied, a hand rubbed up and down my side. I nodded. “What did you want to say?” Gihun asked. “T-That I need more.” I replied. He gave a smirk before bringing a hand down, sliding under my skirt. My breath hitched as his fingertips grazed my slit, my panties adding more friction. "You're so wet." He groaned. He stayed there, circling my clit through them for what felt like forever. I moaned as he did so, his lips connecting to my neck. I tried to grasp at him through his shirt, moving my hips along with his motions. My moans began to rise as he moved my panties to the side, grazing them across my slit before two digits drove into me. His thumb grazed my clit as he started at a quick pace."Gihun." I moaned out, realizing that the word echoed through the room. He kept up his movements across my body. I could feel the sweet aches across my neck, him licking over them occasionally. Suddenly, he pulled out his fingers from me, bringing both up to grasped my hips, picking me up. Involuntarily, I wrapped my legs around his hips.
He sat me down on the desk, throwing off any papers into a pile on the floor. While he did so I threw off my shoes and beginning to take off my blouse. "Let me help." He said, coming back and joining my hands in removing it. He pushed me down gently, making me shiver as my back met the cold desk. He let me adjust before moving me how he wanted to. Luckily it was spacious enough that I could place my legs on top of it, Gihun placing them so I was full display. He towered over me, a dark lust in his eyes as he lifted my skirt. I let out a shaky breath as he grabbed the hem of the panties and sliding them off. He smirked as he saw the gleam of wetness at my core, placing them down. "How do you want me to make you cum?" He asked, staring down at me. "I want you to fuck me." I replied. "I'd love to." His lips crashed into mines as his clothed bulge grinded down onto me. I whimpered against his lips, my hands coming up to grasp at the arms that were on either side of me. He kept going, his tongue delving into mines. Eventually, he moved back off of me, leaving me to recover my breath as he unzipped his pants, taking them off. "I know there isn't a lot of people around," He stripped the rest of his clothes quickly, making me moan as his cock sprang free. He was larger than what I imagined. He was a bit thicker than what I've had before. He chuckled before continuing, "but keep your voice down." Reaching into a drawer, he grabbed his wallet, taking out a condom. "You just keep those lying around?" I joked, him smirking as he ripped open the wrapper. "If I didn't we wouldn't be able to do this." He replied, putting it on. I rolled my eyes, causing him to let out a small laugh. "Maybe one day we won't need to use one." I said with a smile. He stopped for a second, looking a little caught off guard. Might as well try and shoot my shot. Instead of replying, he rubbed the tip of his cock across my slit, his lips capturing mines in a passionate kiss. I fought not to moan loudly as he began to enter me, bringing my hands to grasp at his shoulders as I clenched my eyes shut. He groaned against me, a hand grabbing my thighs as the other inched up, pulling down my bra to expose my breasts. My nails dug into him as he eventually bottomed out, causing my legs to shake slightly. Maybe I was too horny or I haven’t fucked in a while but he felt.. amazing. He really did. He reached right where I needed and his was thick enough where I felt pleasantly spread.
He moved back from me as he began a steady pace, pulling back slightly with deliberate strokes. His hands went down to grasp my hips, mines going to grab at his wrists. I opened my eyes after a moment. His eyes never left my body as he began, mouth agape as he let out soft groans. I did my best to keep quiet every time he hit my sweet spot, moaning softly as he began to quicken his pace. “Shit.” He cursed, hips meeting mines and giving an obscene noise. His hands left my hips, one coming up to grab my breast as the other went down to circle my clit. “Gihun.” I yelled out, both sensations becoming too much. I yelped as I felt the hand on my breast come to cover my mouth. He didn’t stop his movements as I grabbed his forearm. I didn’t push him off, though. “I said not to get loud.” He said between his teeth, struggling to keep his grunts quiet. I nodded, involuntarily squeezing around him as his hand tightened slightly. He bit his lip as his eyebrows scrunched, the items on the desk starting to shake more the harder he thrust. I couldn’t do much but take him, enjoying the way I felt as if I was giving over to him. I began to whimper against his hand as I felt my orgasm coming on. His thrusts moved me roughly against the surface, enjoying the way it felt after a while. The mix of sensations became too much and before I could warn him, I came. My eyes rolled back in pleasure as his hand kept its place, muffling the moan that escaped me. My body tensed as I did, causing him to curse as his fast pace become sporadic. He let out a loud groan as he came, hands stilling my hips as he thrust slowly through his orgasm.
He slowly pulled out, moving back as I let my legs fall off the desk. I laid there for a moment, staring up at the ceiling of the lecture hall as I heard him fall into his chair. Both of us stayed silent for a moment, trying to catch our breaths. After a while, I sat up. He sat there, watching me in contemplation. He must have thrown the condom away while I laid. “Are you alright?” I asked, fixing my bra as my skirt fell back into place. He stared for a moment before asking, “Do you want to go home with me?” My eyes widened in surprise. “Really?” I asked. He gave a sly smile. “You did say there’d be a next time and I don’t want to wait the next time you get one of these ideas.” He said as he stood up, placing himself in front of me once again. He brought a hand up to my chin. “Is that alright?” He asked. “Yes.”

Inspired by: Strange - Celeste
Pairings: Charlie Dalton x (Gender Neutral) Reader
Warnings: Takes place during the aftermath of Neil's... you know what, no happy ending this time. Sorry!
A/N: Oh wow, Laura making another imagine inspired by a song? Yep, this one is gonna hurt a lot ! Flashbacks are in bold italic and song lyrics just in italic.
〰️
I tried for you Tried to see through all the smoke and dirt It wouldn't move What could I do?
Charles Dalton. The only person i've ever truly loved in my life. I needed him, he couldn't leave.
I sat in his dorm in silence and he packed his things. Tears welling up in my eyes, I rubbed them away. I didn't want him to remember me like this.
So many emotions went through me. Anger, sadness, pain, anxiety, etc.
I touch your head to pull your thoughts into my hand But now I can't
My mind went back to the night that Charlie kissed me for the first time.
Say isn't it strange? Isn't it strange?
Last school year, Charlie and I stayed behind during Christmas, the two of us didn't wanna return home. So we told our families some bullshit excuse.
"Come on, (y/n)!" Charlie exclaimed, he ran towards the snow while I tried putting my coat on. "Relax! I'm right behind you!" I reply.
Finally, Charlie and I settled down into an open space of snow, a little far from the school. We laid down next to each other, our hands holding each other and we looked up at the night sky, filled with stars and snowflakes falling on our faces.
I am still me You are still you In the same place
I could feel Charlie's gaze on my eyes, I turn to look at him, "What?"
He shrugs, "What what?"
I roll my eyes, "Why are you staring at me? Do I have something on my face?"
Charlie softly laughs and shake his head, "You know, you can be so naive sometimes."
I furrow my brow, "What is that supposed to mean?"
He scoffs, "(Y/n), i'm- i'm really into you. Maybe you haven't noticed or you have but you just don't feel the same way."
I sit up immediately, "Wait- you are?"
Charlie copies my movements, "I just said I was."
My face warms up and my stomach erupts into butterflies, "Charlie, i'm really sorry. I never noticed it but... I really like you and- if it's okay with you, I would love to give this a go."
He smiles at me, "Yes, I think that would be amazing."
After a few seconds of staring at each other and nervous chuckles, Charlie finally speaks up, "Can I kiss you?"
"I don't know, can you?" I tease.
Charlie rolls his eyes, "MAY I kiss you?"
I giggle and nod, his warm hands cup my cheeks as he pulls me into his warm embrace and lips.
His kiss is slow and deep, yet passionate. I kiss him back with the same energy, until we pull away a few seconds later, the both of us completely speechless.
"You're not a bad kisser, (y/l/n)." He smirks. I roll my eyes and playfully nudge him, "Oh shut up."
"Why don't you make me?" Charlie teases. My lips can't help but tug at a wide smile as we embrace in another long kiss.
Isn't it strange? How people can change
Charlie's packing slowly, but he's reaching the end. And before I know it, it's time.
I stand up and quickly walk towards him, tackling him into a hug. My tears can't take it anymore and they break out of my eyes.
"Please don't go. We lost Neil and now we can't lose you." I cry out.
Charlie's arms wrap tightly around me, his tears fall on my shirt and it makes my pain even stronger. "I'm so sorry. But I had to do what I had to do, you heard how he talked about Neil and Keating." Charlie replied.
I couldn't even blame him. I probably would've done the same thing if he hadn't done it first.
From strangers to friends Friends into lovers
Charlie and I fix ourselves before having to face the students and staff of Welton outside.
I take his hand and we both walk outside to the entrance, where a car is waiting for him.
He pulls me into one final kiss, more desperate than they usually are, my left hand resting on his cheek.
We don't want to pull away but the car continues honking the horn until we do. Charlie takes my hand and gently lays another kiss on it, "It's been a pleasure, my dear."
His eyes are filled with pain and sadness, "You know i'll always love you forever. Right?" I whisper.
He nods, "So will I.'"
And strangers again.

You didn't plan to already have beef with someone at your new school. Let alone someone you'd be dealing with for the rest of your years at UA.
It started on the first day at that, and all you did was bump into him on accident!
◇◇◇◇◇◇
"Oh shit, my bad–" You said, feeling your shoulder hit someone else's as you stumbled into your classroom from the packed halls.
"Watch where you're going, you fuckin' extra." You heard a raspy voice scoff.
Extra? Who the hell does this person think they are? You weren't looking for a fight on the first day as a transfer student, but you sure weren't gonna let that slide.
"Who the hell you callin' extra? You sure as hell don't look too special your damn self, so don't go actin' all Hollywood." You sneered.
You took a good look at the boy in front of you.
He had spikey ash blonde hair, vermillion eyes, his pants were sagging low, and he wasn't wearing his tie.
"Tch, whatever I doubt you even have a quirk half a strong as mine. You can keep talkin' tough if you can manage to beat me, but I doubt your weak ass will." He said, walking to sit down.
You heard a shaky wail from the side of you, and looked over to see a green haired, and green eyed freckled boy.
"H-hi, you must be the new trasfer student! Its nice to meet you, but maybe don't mess with Bakugo–" He sputtered.
'Bakugo...' You thought to yourself, glaring at the blonde.
Feeling your stare, he turned around and snarled at you.
◇◇◇◇◇◇
The rest of your first day was nothing but fighting with him.
But you can't help but smile at when you actually fought him that day for training and won against him.
Since then, you did nothing but fighting with each other.
Hell, he even has your number and socials and you'll still fight on there. Over text, over call, on FaceTime, on live— youre even on a first name basis! As much as you hate each other all you do is hang around each other.
Like now for example;
You were draped over Katsuki's desk as he sat in his chair glaring down at you.
"Mhm, I bet you wanna talk your shit so bad, but you can't because you still haven't beat me since my first day here~" You taunted.
"Well yeah dumbass, we haven't done sparring training against each other since then." He added.
"You sayin' that like you can't fight me outside of class. Whats the matter? You too pussy to fight me again–"
"L/N, THE DESKS ARE NOT FURNITURE, AND SUCH VULGAR LANGUAGE IS NOT TO BE USED IN THE CLASSROOM!" Iida shouted, air chopping as he usually does.
"Shut the hell up, four eyes." Katsuki barked.
"Alright everyone, settle down and get to your seats." Aizawa said in his normal sleepy tone, rolling into the classroom in his yellow sleeping bag.
You got off Katsuki's desk, and started towards your seat, before feeling a rough hand grip your wrist.
"I'm gonna kick your ass after school." Katsuki whisper.
You hummed in amusement, before snatching your hand away and going to your seat.
◇◇◇◇◇◇
By lunch, everyone was talking about the fight you and Katsuki were going to have after school.
Picking sides, placing bets, and even acting out how they thought the fight would go.
"Come on, have you even seen Bakugo in a fight? He's gonna crush them!" One guy said.
"Dude, didn't you hear how Y/n beat them on their first day here though?" Another guy added.
You and Katsuki were passing by the table that was having this conversation, arguing as you usually do before you cut in.
"Either way, Katsuki was too much of a pussy to fight me till I called him out on it, he don't want no smoke." You told them.
"Who the hell are you callin' a pussy?" Katsuki fumed.
"Well shit, you the only nigga around here named Katsuki ain't you?" You asked sarcastically.
"Have fun talking shit, it won't be so funny once I kick your ass after school." Katsuki proclaimed.
"Uh huh, we'll see about that."
◇◇◇◇◇◇
The end of the day finally came, and everyone was hyped to see you and Katsuki finally fight.
There were people gathered around, but not to many that teachers would get suspicious.
"Here comes Y/n!" Someone yelled.
"Hell yeah, kick his ass Y/n!" Another yelled.
The small crowed started clapping and cheering upon your arrival.
"They're not kicking anyone's ass, especially not mine." Katsuki swore.
"That's not what happened–" You started, only for Katsuki to walk up face to face with you.
"What? On your first day? That was months ago, we're talking now." Katsuki barked.
"Alright, then let's see about now, pomeranian." You mocked.
He chuckled and smirked at a random realization.
"Nah." Katsuki said.
He earned 'boo's from the crowd, and a confused look from you.
"I wouldn't wanna hurt my pretty s/o's face." He said, turning his back toward you and walking away.
You stood there, stuck as your processed.
"Mina, am I trippin', or did this nigga just ask me to be his s/o?" You asked the girl next to you.
"I don't think you trippin', because if you trippin then we all trippin'. She said, slightly starstruck.
You hummed in slight amusement, then took off after him.
