The city lights of National City painted a vivid tapestry against the night sky, a canvas of dreams and secrets. As the evening breeze swept through the bustling streets, Alex Danvers paced the sidewalk outside the airport terminal. She checked her watch impatiently, her dark hair dancing in the wind. Beside her, a tall, broad-shouldered man stood with a confident aura that seemed to draw the curious glances of passersby.

The man, (Y/n) (L/n), the head forensics coroner at the National City Police Department. Renowned for his brilliance and charisma, he wore an air of confidence that matched his reputation. He was Alex's best friend, and his smile hid a world of secrets.

Alex's attention snapped back to the terminal as the familiar figure of her sister emerged from the crowd.

Kara Danvers, with her warm smile and hopeful eyes, had arrived in the city to start her new job at CatCo Worldwide Media. Alex's lips curved into a grin as she waved at Kara, who returned the gesture with enthusiasm.

"Kara!" Alex called out, engulfing her sister in a tight hug.

"Alex! I've missed you so much," Kara exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine affection.

Introductions were made, and (Y/n) extended a hand to Kara. "I'm (Y/n), Alex's partner in crime and fellow crime-fighter. Welcome to National City."

Kara's cheeks flushed slightly as she shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, (Y/n). Thanks for picking me up."

"Anytime, Kara," (Y/n) replied, his smile holding a certain charm that made Kara's heart skip a beat. She quickly looked away, hoping her blush wasn't too obvious.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, the trio found themselves at a lively bar in the heart of the city. Laughter and music mingled in the air as they settled into a corner booth. The dim lighting cast intriguing shadows, a fitting backdrop for the enigmatic (Y/n).

"Kara, meet my partner in solving crimes and causing mayhem, (Y/n)," Alex said with a playful grin.

Kara smiled shyly at (Y/n). "Nice to meet you again."

(Y/n)'s eyes held a glint of intrigue as he observed Kara. His mind was a labyrinth of thoughts, each one meticulously analyzed. The subtle nuances of her smile, the way her eyes lit up when she spoke, all were stored in the vault of his mind.

She's new to the city, shy yet kind-hearted, (Y/n) mused internally. A perfect addition to my little narrative.

Alex ordered drinks for the trio, and as (Y/n) went to retrieve them from the bar, Alex leaned in closer to Kara. "So, what do you think of (Y/n)?"

Kara's cheeks tinged with pink as she tried to hide her embarrassment. "He's... charming."

Alex smirked. "Oh, I see the sparks flying already."

Kara looked down, her fingers playing with the rim of her glass. "It's just a first impression, Alex."

(Y/n) returned with the drinks, his gaze shifting between the two women. He had an uncanny ability to read people, to dissect their intentions and desires, and he knew he had made an impression on Kara.

As the night wore on, laughter and conversation flowed like the drinks at their table. Kara found herself drawn to (Y/n)'s wit and charm, while (Y/n) savored every stolen glance and subtle interaction. The city lights seemed to dance in his eyes, a reflection of the twisted narrative he was weaving.

In the midst of the revelry, (Y/n) excused himself to get more drinks. He stood at the bar, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the counter. His mind was currently a whirlwind of thoughts, analyzing Kara's every move, every expression.

Her curiosity is palpable, and her innocence is a canvas I can paint upon, (Y/n) thought, a smirk playing at his lips.

The night continued, fueled by laughter and camaraderie. Kara's heart raced as she found herself laughing at (Y/n)'s anecdotes, his presence magnetic and alluring. She tried to conceal her growing attraction, but her sister's teasing glances didn't go unnoticed.

As the night came to an end and the trio prepared to leave the bar, Kara's gaze met (Y/n)'s one last time. Kara's cheeks warmed and she quickly averted her eyes. Unbeknownst to her, (Y/N)'s mind was already concocting a narrative that would bind their fates in ways she could never have imagined.

The trio suddenly hear something big land behind them as they slowly turn to see to Supergirl’s shock, a giant silver robotic gorilla as blades come out of his arms, ready for a fight.

????: Who are you, Kryptonian. Speak now, or I’m gonna be the Maximal who’s gonna rip out your spark!

Mon-El: Chimera! Stand down! She’s not with Zod! She’s new here for Daxam’s sake.

Superman: Is he always like this?

Mon-El: After Zod, yes. He’s an Alpha for a reason, and a leader.

Chimera taps a strange symbol on his chest, causing him to change into a teenage boy with E/C and H/C.

Within the home of a nerdy, geeky girl and a boy out of time, the Kryptonian and the Space Human Cowboy, The Maiden of Might and the Un-Killable One, the Girl of Steel and the Man with the Fastest Draw in the Universe, these two people were known to the World as Supergirl and the Gunslinger, their names being Kara Zor-El and Y/N Venj, Kara going under the identity Kara Danvers to blend into Humanity as a Human, Y/N undergoing a little name change, with his last name of course... L/N. She was happy with him staying, staying with her as the two passionately kiss like their hearts desire it.

"Make me yours baby, I'm all yours" The Girl of Steel whispered sexually into his ear, continuing their make out session afterwards, his hands dragging all around her suit, feeling the soft texture of her uniform, her skirt, her skin and his favourite thing about her suit? The cape.

He grew up to a mentor that was the fastest draw within the Solar System, they called him Cade, he was like a Father Figure to him since he was an Orphan, his parents tragically died during an all out invasion from an alien race, but Earth was defended by what were called... The Risen.

The Risen were those gifted with extraordinary powers, gifted from the Light itself, able to bend cosmic nature and other uses of elemental power to use it as a weapon.

How did you gain this power? Well... It was a time of telling.

Fires burning, Earth was scorching, suns were fading almost, Darkness was winning, until a New Light shined bright upon you, being chosen as the Earth's saviour.

You pushed back the growing Darkness, all the way to the end... Until you were brought into a different world upon vanquishing the evil that lurked.

Here... You were in a timeline if it were the same as yours, Superman existed, there was a Justice League and there were many heroes... You felt like a stranger to this world, which you were... Until you met...

* "So... You're saying that there's someone here, my age, in this city that can help me get used to this Earth?" A curious Y/N asked as he was being carried by the Man of Steel himself.

"My cousin can show you the ropes around here, I know she'll love to have a new friend with her day to day life, especially with both her jobs as Supergirl and Kara Danvers, we'll be meeting her at the DEO upon the agreement" the man said proudly as Y/N's eyes widened at this.

"She? You HAVE a cousin who has the exact same powers you have and It's a SHE?!! Why am I getting told this now??" he sounded a little distraught... And a little nervous, who knows what she's gonna be like? 'I hope she ain't too crazy or otherwise, we're gonna have problems'

"I thought you already knew? Oh well, don't worry, I know Kara won't hurt a fly... I think"

"Yeah, you think?" He said brashly, rolling his eyes as Clark chuckled.

"You'll be fine with her, I know that for sure, if you're not sure of staying here in National City for a bit, then you can come back to the Hall of Justice, the decision is up to you" The Man of Tomorrow gave him the option that still stood for Y/N, he mostly thought about it before coming to a conclusion.

"We'll see when I meet her, I wanna see what's she's like first" he sighed a little.

It wasn't long till they got to National City, upon the view, it did remind him a lot of a city he used to live in back in his timeline before it was destroyed, ravished by the Darkness that had arrived to Earth during that time.

"Well we're here" Clark landed at the DEO, putting down Y/N as he swiped any cloud dust off of his outfit, before pulling down his hood, looking at his surroundings.

"Okay... This looks, alright, not as good as the Tower but... it's alright, still doesn't mean I'm staying here though"

"We'll soon see about that" Clark replied.

"I'm just saying Supes, no offense, if your cousin is anything crazy or something? I swear I am definitely going back to..." he stopped in his tracks upon eying... Her

She wore a bright blue tunic made of Kryptonian fabrics showing off the red custom S glyph surrounded with a diamond shaped shield with a yellow background to make it stand out; proudly wearing it like her cousin, a red cape attached to her tunic which also donned the S diamond shielded glyph coloured all yellow, a red skirt with a gold laced belt above it, red high-knee boots, and she had golden blonde flowing hair with blue eyes gorgeous as the oceans.

He laid eyes upon Supergirl.

Clark had told him she was the same age as him, both being 18 years old, it was Kara's birthday not long ago.

She took notice of the arrival of both parties and goes to hug her cousin, exchanging words with each other in the meanwhile...

You were in your little daydream.

When she looked at you, all you saw was love hearts flowing around her 'Wow she's... She's beautiful and h-h-hot' she flicks her golden locks as she smiled at you gracefully, winking and smirking as she approached you, blowing a kiss toward you not long after as you stared at her... Though that was only in your head...

"Uh, Kal? Is he alright?" Supergirl asked her cousin, looking at the boy with concern on her face as her leans down to her.

"Yeah, he's just nervous" he whispers to his cousin before shaking Y/N, making him jump a little.

"Oh uh, I'm here, what's going on?" he asked with an eyebrow cocked up before looking back at Supergirl, tensing up a little.

"Kara, remember the boy I told you about? The one you agreed to help get him comfortable with on our Earth? This is him" Clark asked his cousin as she got a little excited, now knowing this is the boy she's now standing in front of.

"Wait, this is him? The boy who's from another timeline?! Y/N is it?" she immediately reached her hand out to him, offering to shake his hand as he looked at it and her a few times.

"Uh... Y-yeah, Y/N's name, ugh no, name's Y/N, I uh... Hi" he nervously chuckled but shook her hand nonetheless, surprisingly surviving the hand shake, no bones were broken.

"It's so good to meet you Y/N, you can call me Kara, but... Supergirl is the name known to all!" she posed like a superhero, resulting in him blushing a little as she did look cute doing so.

"I know you'll be showing him around, which is why I've gotten him a secret identity to go with yours, he'll tell you the rest of the details, if he's made up his mind of staying here for the time being with you" Clark looked at him as Y/N's thoughts ran rapidly through his head, in front of him was a pure, beautiful blonde girl with blue eyes, wearing a red cape, surely nothing would go wrong?

"Uh... I do change my head, I-I m-mean mind, I'm actually staying, you seem... hot-I mean cool, yeah, cool" he began rubbing his arm nervously as the Girl of Steel stared at him with a blank expression, before her cheeks turned a rosy red, blushing from his brief word vomit.

"Well... I'll just leave you both to it then, I can't stay, gotta back to Metropolis for Lois needs help with something important" Clark began to back up a little.

"Oh, yeah, no worries, I can take it from here, it's good to see you Cuz, hope to see you again soon" Kara faced him as he was about to leave.

"You will, I'll be checking in with you about him soon, oh one more thing, he'll be staying at yours!" he reminded to tell her as Y/N looked wide eyed at this.

"Already got that covered! Bye Cuz!! ~" she waved as he left, leaving her alone with Y/N within the DEO, she looked at him and placed her hand on her arm - "So ~" she started off - "you like donuts? I know a place"

"You kidding? Who doesn't like donuts?!"

* For the better... Supergirl had lots of fun with you being around her, starting off as just friends, yous telling each other about who they are, what their lives were like behind the gun and cape, beyond your superhero life.

When she struggled at high school due to still trying to get used to Earth technology, she least expected you to turn up at her school within the same class she took,

Meeting the Director (Director Cameron Chase) of the DEO was... Interesting to say at least, it's not like one of her Agents misunderstood you for the enemy, wasn't the first time you were misunderstood and fired upon by other Government Agencies.

You showed her why your the fastest draw of the galaxy not long after, issuing a classic Mexican Standoff with some B-grade Villain, she was rather... Impressed that you were fast, almost as fast as her though she challenged you to a game of skeet not long after.

"Well, let's see who's faster?" she smirked, hands on her hips as she gave him a teasing smile.

"You're on Goldie Locks!" he readied his hand cannon, smirking with her.

Over the course, Superman would check in on your progress, Kara filling him in with all the details, he could tell there was something else going on, especially with how Kara felt around you, you both were just friends from the looks of it but as he looked closer, he could tell Kara had some sort of feelings toward him, how he knew this?

They had to drop by Gotham for a little investigation, you were there also, talking away with Barbara about gadgets and other things.

"Kara, mind if we have a chat?" Clark asked her cousin as she stood with Robin and Batman at the computer.

"Sure Cuz, guessing it's about Y/N huh?" she happily accepted as the two cousins walked off to talk privately, waving at Barbara and Y/N as she walked out with her cousin.

"I've noticed your very comfortable with Y/N around, how's things going between you and him behind the cape?" he asked her as she brightly smiled upon being asked.

"Are you kidding? He's amazing! He's like a Super-Friend to me, someone to talk to on a daily basis, he's met my foster parents and they love him! He's also great at art and all that stuff too! I know it's been two weeks since you last checked in but he's slowly getting used to his new surroundings, I think he likes it here" Kara gushed about him, she felt really happy around him and Clark could tell but... He wanted to tell her something that could break her heart.

"Good, it's good to hear he's adapting but I also brought you aside because... We've managed to get into contact with his Earth and it looks like he'll be able to go back soon as it is, we're all working on a way to send him back to his home" Clark told him as this made Kara's facial expression turn from happy and cheerful, to gutted and saddened.

"Oh... Well... Th-That's g-good" she looked down at the floor beneath her as her cousin looked at her with a sorrowful expression, knowing how she feels toward him by looking at her face, he could tell she was in love.

"Kara ~" he placed his hand on her shoulder, making her look back up at him - "I know how you feel around him, you kept looking back at him and... I heard you talking about him with Barbara" this made her blush red immediately, she began stuttering, but couldn't believe he was listening into her "girl talk" with Barbara.

"Kal that was a private convo! You weren't supposed to listen!! ~" she hissed quietly before sighing - "But, knowing he's going back soon, I-I don't know if I can" she looked down again, her face filled with a deepened sadness.

"Then tell him how you feel before it happens ~" he suggested - "I know I was like this with Lois, butterflies in the stomach, feelings gushing about, looking at her when she wouldn't look back, I've seen it in your face, tell him how you feel Kara, before he goes back to his Earth" he comforts her as she looks back up with a slight smile.

"I know but... I'm just... Scared to tell him, and now that he's going back to his Earth, what's the point? This just... ~" Kara huffed before thinking of something - "What if he can... Stay here? On our Earth?" Kara wondered, asking her cousin this as he didn't know what to tell her.

"I don't know what to tell you but... It's up to him if he wants to stay, but knowing how much he misses his home, he'll want to go back, but hey... At least he'll remember the good memories he spent here, and I think that's worth while, but you should tell him how you feel Kara, because I think he likes you too, I've seen it in his face also" Clark smiled, comforting his cousin once more.

"You really think so? That he likes me?" she asked him.

"From what I've seen? Yes, I think he does, but don't leave it too late, we don't know how long till we eventually find a way to his Earth since his Earth's coordinates are... Out of place" he tried finding the right word.

"Thanks Cuz" she hugged him, Clark accepted it no long after

Though things were a little awkward with Kara after her conversation with Clark, especially living with you as her roommate for now, there were moments where she almost gave in to kiss you right then and there as the same went for you, both conditionally having feelings without saying anything, but this would start to begin something very...

Supergirl swoops on down, joining up with the rest of the heroes from the JLA upon the aftermath of dealing with a huge situation that Y/N played a big part in.

Supergirl looks toward Y/N who is currently fiddling around with his gun, reloading a cylinder canister of rounds within it before holstering it, locking the gun into place with a retracted sound.

She always thought it was cool when it did that, as she wondered what type of technology his Earth has.

Thoughts ran through her head as she approached him, now that the situation had been dealt with and everyone regrouped together, Kara wanted to return to National City for the night.

She really wanted to tell him how she felt, she's only left it for a few days, trying to build up confidence.

Upon agreeing to go home with her, the two said their goodbyes and left, Kara carrying him in her arms, bridal style.

She was very quiet, lost in her thoughts 'Should I tell him how I feel? How will he react? Does he really have feelings for me? Or am I just imagining this?' she couldn't stop thinking to herself, let alone, she was nervous to say anything.

"You're awfully quiet?" he asked the Maiden of Might, pointing it out as Kara looked at him for a brief moment.

"Yeah, pretty tired that's all" she lied, putting on a smile.

"Really? The Girl of Steel? Who is literally a ray of sunshine and rainbows, never runs out of energy... Is tired? ~" he laughed - "Kara... I can tell something is wrong by looking in your face... You have something going on behind that smile of yours" he smirked as Kara huffed a smile before stopping herself from flying, staying stationary in the air.

She takes a deep breath and looks at him - "A few days ago when we were in Gotham, at the Batcave, Kal told me that the League has found a way to contact your Earth and establish communications, within the next two weeks... You'll be going back"

"Wait? Really? Huh? I wasn't told that? Guess -"

"I was supposed to tell you because I... Wanted to be the one to tell you" Kara quickly interrupts, her frown saddening as she looks away.

Y/N took notice of this and then... He smirked - "No? You're actually sad about me leaving? Aww Kara, I'm touched" his heart melted as she looked back at him, beginning to blush.

'C'mon Kara, just say it, SAY IT! Tell him you like him! Tell Him before it's too late!!' Kara argued with her own thoughts, staring into his eyes as he cocked an eyebrow.

"Um... You stopped flying Kara and you're blushing... Is there something else you want to say?" he pointed out her stationary levitating state, holding him in her arms to keep him safe on the flight home, Kara's blush deepened as she began to chuckle nervously and saddened her frown.

"It's just that... *sigh* Y/N, for the past month and a half after Kal introduced us... To know that you'll be back within two weeks... I ~" she couldn't keep eye contact as she chuckles down a lump in her throat, Y/N looking concerned - "I... I've had thoughts constantly run through my head... Thoughts about you and... How happy you make me and... Now that you'll be gone soon, I don't know how to tell you this but... I... Have feelings.. For you" she blushed a rosy red upon finishing, looking away sheepishly as her cape flapped behind her in the gentle wind.

Y/N's eyes went wide as he kept his gaze on Kara, admitting she had feelings for him, but after all this time, he also had feelings for her, and it all started when he first met her, love at first sight.

He smiled and chuckled softly - "Kara" he called her name, gaining her attention as she sheepishly blushed upon looking at him, gazing into his eyes, he found it cute the way she was right now.

"I know, I know what you're gonna say, you don't need to *smack* MMMFLGHHH!" she was cut-off... With a pair of lips on hers 'He's kissing me!! Oh... mmphh, his lips'

She melted into the sudden kiss with a smile rising on her face, her stomach filled with butterflies as her heart pounds in her chest, the smacking of their lips together fills her with joy as she enjoys the taste of his lips.

He pulls back after a long minute and chuckles with Kara - "Strawberries" he tasted the sweet Chapstick on Kara's lips, complimenting it as she blushes and smiles brightly.

"You-You kissed me, does that mean?" she looked at him with hopeful eyes 'Obviously he does Kara, he freaking kissed you!!'

"Haha, Kara... I liked you since the day my eyes fell on you, when I thought you were... Beautiful *begins to blush* and hot... I actually thought you blew me a kiss which in reality you didn't but... It was love at first *smack* -" he was now interrupted with Kara's pair of lips on his, kissing him back even harder, slightly making out a little as she moaned softly into his mouth, his arms outstretched around the crook of her neck.

"Mwah! *giggle* I guess we're even now ~" she giggles afterwards, smiling with a cute expression - "Though I know you're going in two weeks, I just... Want to make this last, before then" Kara gave him the sweetest smile she's ever given, melting Y/N's heart as he pulled her in for a quickie.

"Muah! *chuckle* Exactly what I thought too, and we will... What we doing when we're back?" he asked as she then smirked, thinking of something... Breath-taking.

It's something the two will remember for the rest of their lives.

As the two weeks pass by, the two enjoying their relationship while it lasts, it being sweet, cuddly, soft-core and heart-warming, Kara was like the spoon to you, she was this cute ball of fluff who has a side to her to never piss off, especially when it came to another girl flirting with you, whether they were a hero or not.

A/N: basically this whole thing is my HC's about the fifth dimension, mostly because of how vaguely it gets portrayed in supergirl! so yeah none of this is canon, I'm just making some stuff up as i go. I'd say that in my HCs the fifth dimension views the many earths as tv shows (like we see them, let's say), and maybe that's how Mxy found out about Kara in the first place! Also reader is fem presenting and uses She/Her pronouns!

As Cat Grant's new assistant, life wasn't easy, but you pulled through either way. You weren't Kara Danvers' assistant but Cat basically made you organize both schedules and bring her coffee even though Kara tried to reject it, she just didn't really like bossing people around, but as the new Editor in Chief of CatCo she needed to realize that she couldn't do everything on her own. Especially now that her secret was out there in the open.

You were Supergirl's biggest fan, watching her on TV and her adventures and her life for years. A while ago, a part of you just wished you could live in her dimension and be around her, especially after the finale of the show left you so unsatisfied. The fifth dimension has always been so boring, for some it's mind blowing and amazing, but as an Imp living by yourself in such a patriarchal society: it wasn't the best. And the third dimension just seemed so much easier, especially if you could use your magic to fix a few things here and there. However, migration laws were very strict unless you were married. And there was no way you'd marry some random guy for the rest of the eternity just to travel to another dimension. Your day-to-day activities were getting monotone and boring, your magic even seemed to weaken as your hopes and joy dissipated with each week passing by. Your parents always cared for you deeply, but they didn't understand you just wanted true freedom. If anything you wished Princess Nyxlygsptlnz could've gotten the AllStone totems and finally overthrow King Brpxz, this dimension really needed a new governor, but sure Kara didn't see that. All she was focused on was in stopping Nyxly, not questioning what she wanted the totems for.

But you still admired her and her adventures, ever since she came to earth her life was basically a reality show for the fifth dimension, you were surprised when Mxyzptlk appeared in season two. Everyone knew him, he was kinda like a celebrity but not the good kind. You immediately realized he even changed his appearance to woo Kara into falling for him, he was definitely the product of this ugly environment. It made you so happy to see how Kara defeated him by making him write his name backwards in Kryptonian. And then he appeared... Again? Now he was a good guy, good for him, sure. But something just made you feel so jealous. The fact that he got to freely travel around any dimensions like any other male Imp can, you just wished you were better at magic so you could at least fool some guards to leave. You felt hopeless for so long...

That until one night you were sitting on the floor in your living room, rewatching Supergirl, a wish came out of your mouth softly.

"I wish I could meet Kara..." You whispered as the intro of the show played in your giant orb. Usually your mumbles and whispers would go unnoticed by your family, and this one did, but something else noticed it. A bright blue light flooded the room, making you teleport to behind your couch immediately. When the light softened you peeked your head, glaring at the orb that was now just glowing with many little blue lights dancing inside of it, like they wanted to escape. You sat back down and took a deep breath.

"What are we hiding from?" You heard a familiar voice by your side, scaring the living crap out of you.

Yelling you immediately teleported back to where you were sitting, the unknown man got up, finally revealing himself.

"Hi! I'm Mxyzptlk, but my friends call me Mxy." He gave you a mischievous smile and handed you a small card.

"DUDE FUCK YOU!" You pushed him away, still terrified as you ran to the kitchen to get your parents.

"HEY! Mind your manners! I was just driving by the neighborhood and heard a pure hearted wish, and who am I to deny a wish to someone so awesome?" He was now sitting on the kitchen counter, eating an apple as he spoke to you.

"What do you want from me? Huh?" You walked backwards until you were back at the kitchen door, not taking your eyes off of him.

"So... My friend, Kara Danvers. She needs help, not urgent help, but she needs... A new perspective. Lena Luthor left to find more about her mom and practice magic, so Kara is really lonely, and her life isn't going really well. She just needs a new someone in her life, even if it's just a friend." His words were confusing, was he trying to be a wingman for you?

"How the fuck do you know me-"

"Language!" He spoke from behind you, making you turn around to face him. "So I'm friends with you dad and he keeps complaining about how you can't find a good husband and other stuff. My past self would've helped him, but instead I want to help you. As you may know I can travel through dimensions freely, so, I want to give you a chance. And I know you're a Supergirl fan." He mischievously pointed to the paused episode in your orb. You knew Mxyzptlk had changed over the years, but you still were unsure.

"What am I supposed to do? Once I get to the third dimension?" You asked hesitantly as you walked back to the living room, staring at your orb.

"So... You can't use your magic-" Your head snapped towards him, was he serious? If anything you needed your magic there! It was way more powerful in lower dimensions.

"Nope. Declined." You plopped down on your couch, crossing your arms over your chest as he sat down right by your side.

"Listen! Kara's friends can track fifth dimensional energy. If they find you like that they'll think you're like Nyxly or something and you'll be in trouble." You gave him a mean side eye as you thought about it. "I'll make some arrangements and find you a Job at CatCo and a nice apartment at Kara's building. If you want to, you can later tell her the truth, but she really needs something new in her life, and I think it'd benefit both you and her." He held your hands in his, giving you puppy eyes which made you creep out and snap your hands out of his grasp.

"And how do I know you're the real Mxyzptlk and not some scammer?" You cocked an eyebrow at him.

"I guess you'll just have to trust me." He gave you a smile and you rolled your eyes, just trying to recall how to say your own name backwards just in case this freak was an imposter. You knew your dad was acquaintances with Mxy back in his bad years but you never thought they were that close.

"Fine." You shook his hand and in that moment your orb glowed again, forcing you to close your eyes, and when you opened them you suddenly were all by yourself in an apartment, very similar to Kara's but yours was decorated in a more cold color palette (mostly blues and purples). And you had way less furniture. Still shocked, not knowing how you could check whether or not this was the third dimension you walked around, it sure was made to your liking, although it needed some more furniture. Taking a deep breath you felt the fifth dimension stronger than ever, yes, this was it. Excitedly you self toured your apartment, finding everything unpacked as if you've been living here for months already, except for a few boxes all around the house, to give the impression that you were a brand new neighbor. And a handwritten note by Mxyzptlk on the front door.

"Kara is your next door neighbor, and you'll have a job interview at CatCo tomorrow, good luck. :) -Mxy"

Your smile grew bigger as you finally got the new life you've been begging for so long.

[Now back to the present]

After three months on the third dimension one thing was sure: You were tired. Not being able to use your magic meant a lot of walking and a lot of carrying things around, but you were getting the hang of it. Although you haven't mustered the courage to take any steps with Kara. You could usually hear her and her friends having fun on game night or whenever she sobbed loudly while watching Wizard of Oz, but she never realized you were her neighbor. And at work it was pretty much the same, she'd just say 'Hi', 'Thanks' 'Goodbye' to you, she didn't even know your name. Most of your day to day conversations were with Cat Grant, who didn't even get your name right, but she was sweet deep inside. She even reminded you of your own mother. And by now you knew her favorite meals and every single specification about them, and you also knew Kara's favorite coffee but you weren't going to reveal you knew that one from 'the show'.

Your day-to-day now was basically just staring at Kara from your desk and sketching little drawings of her face or daily outfits on post-it notes that you kept underneath your keyboard. And that's what you were doing until Cat sneaked behind you and almost made you fall off your chair.

"Oh, so you're an artist?" She spoke loudly as she leaned over to have a better view of your little sketch.

"Miss Grant!" You yelped, turning your chair around so it'd block the view from your computer. "Is there anything I can help you with?" Your heart was beating loudly while you stared at the woman who was towering over you while squinting her eyes.

"You have a crush on Kara? Woah, what a shocker." She rolled her eyes as she walked to the new office that was built just for her weeks ago, right where the superfriends used to meet in season one.

You immediately got up and nervously walked behind her, you knew nothing escaped Cat, you saw how she knew all along Kara's identity, but you didn't expect this to happen to you.

"No, no- Miss Grant, I just usually draw what I see, it's a hobby, I've even drawn you and other colleagues here and not only Miss Danvers. I even draw animals sometimes!"

She stopped on her tracks, making you accidentally bump against her back. You quickly took two steps back and began apologizing profusely until she raised a finger, a clear signal for you to shut up.

"I'll help you. Kara needs someone. If only you could hear how she whines for that Luthor girl you'd go crazy. Plus from what I've seen you have a nice personality. And you're not ugly... I'll see what I can do for you, now bring me a cheeseburger from Noonan's. I'm giving myself a treat for being so generous." You silently nodded as she gave you a company credit card, your whole face blushing while you walked to the elevator. Said elevator was about to close when you heard a woman yell for someone to stop it, so you did. And you realized how bad your luck could get, because out of ALL the people in this office it had to be Kara Danvers the one inside the elevator with you.

You tried to play it cool as you stared at the panel in front of you, trying to not attract her attention.

"Did Cat send you on a random quest?" She spoke cheerfully after a couple seconds, making your heart race again.

"Yeah- No-... I mean- Kind of...? She wants a cheeseburger."

"No onions, extra pickles, and just a tiny dot of mustard right in the middle-" You both spoke at the same time, then stared at each other silently. That until Kara broke the silence with the most beautiful laughter you've ever heard, so much it made you laugh too.

"You're great, it took me a bit to memorize all that." She complimented you as she gave you a bright smile.

"Thanks... It's good to hear that from Miss Danvers herself, you were a hero before being Supergirl just by working for Cat." Now you fired back, also smiling at her as you felt butterflies flying though all of your body.

"I have to admit, Lex Luthor was easier to deal with." She joked as the elevator doors opened, making you realize the nice moment was over, it made your smile fade slightly as you both hopped off. You just waved at Kara as you took a step towards the restaurant. "Uhm- Actually, I was going to get lunch for myself, if you want I can get you something too." She stopped you by putting her hand on your shoulder.

"Oh no! There's no need, I don't-"

"C'mon! I can give you more Cat Tips, I invented them when I found Cat the first replacement assistants." She gave you that sweet smile again, almost making you melt and you just nodded. The two of you got to Noonan's quickly and it was fairly empty, which was good because usually you knew people would just get all around Kara to ask her questions, but now it was just you two, maybe six to seven people eating on their respective tables, and the workers.

"I'd like a dozen donuts and my regular coffee and for the lady right here..." She turned around to you, making you snap back to reality.

"U-Uh... A slice of chocolate cake will be fine." You gave her a wobbly smile as you fidgeted with the credit card in your hand.

"Are you sure? Please don't worry, it's all on me. Or maybe we can order some sushi? Nia told me she was craving some..."

"I- I'll order Cat's food and then we can go from there." You took her out of her thoughts, she just nodded while you turned around to the worker and placed Cat's order, which was ready almost instantly along with Kara's and your cake slice, all to go.

The two of you kept making small talk as you headed back to the office, you felt bad having to excuse yourself but you knew Cat Grant cannot wait.

"Here's your food Miss Grant." You put the paper bag on her desk and as you were walking out you heard her voice again.

"W/n. Where's my drink? I clearly asked you for a sparkling water." No she didn't, but you felt your face go pale as you remembered she had specific drinks for each food item. If you weren't so distracted by Kara maybe you would have remembered that, but now you only had two options: Owning up to your mistakes or... No. You couldn't do that. If you did there was a very high risk of the superfriends finding you and thinking you may be hostile. Or maybe the DEO, you didn't knew if it was already built back yet.

Either way it was risky... But it was just sparkling water, how much magic would you need for that? Probably the slightest bit, and maybe it'd go unnoticed by their sensors. Plus if you got fired you didn't want it to be over water. Breathing deep you snapped your fingers softly, the sparkling water appearing on your hands with a blue shine right before you turned around.

"Sorry! I was so distracted I forgot to hand it to you." You smiled nervously as you gave the woman the plastic bottle which she examined briefly, giving you a quick hand gesture which meant you were free to go now. That was definitely a stressful moment, but since you didn't see any of the superfriends around the building other than Kara chatting with Nia at her office you felt safe. Maybe this meant you could do some other tricks here and there, you just had to be careful, right?

[Meanwhile in the tower.]

Brainy was simply checking that everything was alright that day, then he'd go to buy Nia some lunch and take it to CatCo, an easy plan right? Unless something like the little alert on his screen ruined it.

"Hey, has anybody talked to Mxy lately?" Brainy turned on his comm device, sending the message to everyone.

He just got negative responses from everyone, which made him even more worried, this spark of fifth dimensional energy seemed so powerful yet it was so brief. Like it had been charging for a long time waiting to be let loose. And that wasn't a good sign, especially without Mxyzptlk around.

"I got a fifth dimensional energy signal coming from... CatCo. Nia, Kara I'm on my way, try searching the building but silently, we don't want to cause panic." He immediately turned on his image inductor and flew to CatCo, landing on the heliport and being greeted by his blonde friend.

"I searched the whole building, twice, and didn't find anything. Nia is in my office trying to see if she can dream about who's our fifth dimensional suspect." Kara was unconsciously doing the Supergirl pose although she was still wearing her usual office clothes, her face scrunched in worry.

"Okay... We need to see if it was Mxy, so we need to-"

"Mr. Mxyzptlk!" Kara yelled into the sky above, and the man appeared right beside them.

"You don't need to yell, bestie. I'm literally right here." He pretended to clean his ear with his pinky as he turned around to see Kara and Querl.

"We got a fifth dimensional energy signal here in CatCo. Was it you?" Brainy asked still deadpanning Mxyzptlk as the Imp's face seemed to go pale.

"Uh- Yeah! Of course. I was about to give Kara a visit but I saw how busy she was so I just left immediately. I was actually on my way back to the fifth dimension. My mom hasn't seen her favorite son in a while. Goodbye!" The man didn't even let them speak before snapping his fingers and disappearing, leaving both Kara and Brainy really confused yet somehow relieved by the fact the energy wasn't anything dangerous, allegedly.

"Kara... I think he's lying. It wasn't like his usual energy. This was a spark of colossal fifth dimensional energy, something like turning a switch on and off very quickly, usually Mxyzptlk hangs around leaving large trails of fifth dimensional energy, this isn't like him."

"We'll get to the bottom of this, I promise. Meanwhile... I think Nia may be hungry, what if we all go to eat something?" Kara suggested, laying her hand on the man's shoulder as he still looked unsure about the whole situation, but the Coluan just nodded, following Kara back to her office.

You sat down on your desk eating the slice of cake Kara had bought for you, smiling as you felt like your day was getting slightly better, especially since Cat Grant hasn't had the need to yell your name in the past thirty minutes or so. You finally felt like your life was going smoothly. Maybe Mxyzptlk was really a good man. Closing your eyes while enjoying one of the last bites of your cake you opened them just to find yourself sitting inside a broom closet. Confused, you immediately got up and looked around in the darkness until someone turned on the lights.

"I told you not to use your magic!" It had to be him.

"Hey! Don't yell at me! I wasn't using my magic, I was just eating my cake, which if you excuse me I might buy myself another slice." You tried to open the door but it was locked. "Mxyzptlk..." Looking back at him he just gave you a worried look.

"Please, Y/n. Don't use your magic until you gain Kara's trust. That's all I ask you for, especially since you could literally go to jail-" He then covered his own mouth, and turned around, his back facing you.

"WHAT- JAIL?!" Your jaw was on the floor, he surely had some explaining to do.

"Okay so- Maybe I... Broughtyouhereillegallysoifthesupremecourtfindsoutyou'reherewebothmayendupinjailandthatwouldn'tbereallynice-" He finished his sentence by gasping for air loudly, then he snapped his fingers and suddenly you were back on your desk, your mind still wondering how the fuck did you get into all this.
