Tumblr media
His dull eyes make brief contact with yours before quickly directing his gaze elsewhere. Despite the large audience in front of him, his eyes naturally find you in the crowd, so used to picking you apart from everyone else despite you blending in with the lower society. The fact sends a painful stab to your heart, and it is yet another reminder of why his hands are clasped in those of another. While you adorn nothing more than old, dull, dark garms that the rest of the Castle staff wear, he stands tall and bright with heavy velvet and silk encasing his form and a crown that sits proudly upon his head, it being furnished with jewels and diamonds that cost more than your life.
You think he looks good beside her, like he was always meant to be there, but you selfishly chase that thought away. You doubt you are the only one wishing it was you on that stage, it not being hard to spot the envy in the many noble eyes that surround you in the grand hall, that many have travelling far and wide to be in to witness this union. A union you were not made aware of until a few weeks prior and the memory transports you to that fateful day.
~
“Y/N! Wait” he calls out after you. You had not meant to eavesdrop; you were merely passing by his office before a few words had caught your attention and you were glad you had stayed. A strong hand clasps your arm and brings you to a stop in the corridor, both of you panting from the chase “just stop and listen to me”. “How long have you known?” you ask, the hesitation in his face is answer enough and you rip your arm from his searing hold. “Were you ever planning on telling me?” “of course I was, don’t be silly” he incredulously replies. “Ha, on the day of the wedding I presume” you sarcastically retort, “don’t” he warns. “I cannot believe you kept this from me”
“You knew this could go no further” and you could not refute that statement no matter how much it hurt. Yet you hoped, stupidly hoped that a small part of him would long for you enough to go against his parents, defy the norms of society to be with you. But you knew that small bubble you found yourself in would soon burst and you’d come to the realization that you were nothing more than a pastime. Unfortunately, you had realised that too late, that you were just a mere pit stop until he reached his final destination, and it was not you and that epiphany tore away at your already breaking heart.
“Well, I apologize for hoping that the man who claimed to love me would put up more of a fight for me…for us”. “This is no longer about you or I, it is about this kingdom. I will soon become king and I will not throw that away for these fleeting feelings” he scornfully replies. “Fleeting” you whisper in disbelief as the tears that gathered in your eyes finally escape. “You know what I mean” he harshly spits, “No, I don’t think I do”. You back turns from him as you hurry to wipe the tears streaking down your face, you refuse to let him see you like this. Refuse to let him see the hold he has on you and your heart.
“You know I care for you, do not make this harder than It has to be” he whispers. “But not enough…your Highness” you dryly chuckle out and with that you stride away from the man that you love, that you despise yourself for still loving despite his cruel and indifferent words.
~
You watch with bated breath as they both recite their vows, each word a hit to your bruised heart and your eyes glisten as he slips that beautiful sapphire ring onto her delicate finger. Your eyes once again meet and you pray he understands the words your eyes speak – “when you drive your sword through my heart, know that only you could have stopped it beating, for it has always been yours to destroy”

— play with my pussy, not my heart.
a/n; this has been an idea in my head for awhile but kept scrapping it, hopefully this is alr. btw my requests are opennn.
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫!𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
cw; smut, mdni, fingering, reader has a nervous habit that might triggering, dom!reader, flirting, language, slap kink once, arguing, abby is a dick here lol, trust issues, angst?? lmk if i missed any!!
sypnosis; your well known girlfriend who has a reputation of being a player finally decides to settle into a serious relationship with you. aware of your girlfriend’s past, abby’s project partner comes to intervene with your thoughts & worries. back and forth arguing isn’t going anywhere, you had to show her other ways on who not to mess with.
— ˚ෆ ⋅˚ —
“it’s just a small study sesh baby, nat even agreed to do it at our apartment!” abby walks towards you as she hovers over, “so no need to worry, ‘kay?”
she caresses your face and pecked your lips.
nat, aka natasha ferreira, is apart of western university’s dance team. you’ve seen her around before wearing white flowy skirts and layered jewelry. you once heard her talking about how her parents got a brand new bmw for her quinceañera.
i guess there was nothing to hate about her, other than the fact she is gorgeous and very talented with her dancing. this was just another one of your stupid overthinking.. right?
“okay abs.. thank you,” you gave her a soft smile.
“that’s my best girl.”
besides, trust was the thing you both had been working on these past months. dating abby was going to be a challenge. you knew it and your friends knew it. though they weren’t too supportive with her intentions at first, you were convinced abby could change her acts if she reallyy tried.
three knocks suddenly interrupted your little conversation. abby sprinted to the door and opens it to find a joyful figure in front of her.
nat gasps, “abby! this is my first time seeing you outside of uni,” she smiles with excitement.
abby smiled back and leaned for a hug, leaving you to stare at them with a lump of jealousy in your throat.
— ˚ෆ ⋅˚ —
one minute you were next to abby, and then the second the brunette is touching forearms besides her with those stupid doe eyes, glossed lips, and weirdly seductive black platform heels. god she’s annoying.
“your handwriting is shit!” the brunette teased, giggling as she leans to abby.
“yeah?” your girlfriend chuckles, “this is what you get for choosing me as your partner.”
nat shrugs, “well then i can deal with it.”
you tried so hard to not be bitter. really you did. but each time you glance at the two across the kitchen island, you swore the both of them were doing this shit on purpose.
sudden eye contacts with you everytime they laughed together, unrelated conversations, and some flirty remarks. oh, and not to mention the obvious footsies that was happening under the table. like you can literally see it.
“fuck me..” you muttered.
“what’s that princess?” abby asks you, the nickname made nat changed her demeanor quickly.
you turned back to meet nat’s eyes, then to abby, and back to nat.
“nothin’ love,” you put a convincing smile.
three hours long night full of giggling and jokes you didn’t even get later on.. you find yourself yelling back and forth in your shared bedroom with abby who literally couldn’t understand where you were coming from.
abby groans, “goddamnit we talked about this!”
“i never did anything to her, you were literally infront of us,” she raised her voice.
“abs, she deadass rubbed her foot on your leg multiple times and leaned to you everytime you both laughed..”you went on, getting more frustrated by the minute.
“well.. we’re just having a little fun, is that romantic to you?” abby asks with her hand crossed to her chest, her facial expression screams ‘you’re being crazy.’
you were exhausted trying to find ways to communicate without bringing up abby’s past, like you both agreed to. however, your concerns shouldn’t supposed to end in argument. you shook your head, letting out a long sigh and sat on the edge of the bed.
“i- i don’t know abby,” you stammered, “i guess it is romantic when they do the things i do to you.. since i am yours.”
you gazed down at your feet with teary eyes while unaware as you were digging your nails into your thighs. this was a nervous habit of yours in which you don’t realize you have been doing it for so long. your girlfriend, however, does.
she slowly walks closer to the edge of the bed and kneeled down to your eye level.
“you are mine.” her voice sounding more reassuring and softer like you could faint at that moment.
“i thought you could’ve been better for me..” you sniffled
abby panicks once she realizes you were crying, “baby no.. fuck i’m trying..”
“trying?” you looked up.
the blonde sighs, “will. i will be better.”
she moved your hands from your thighs with one hand, while other pushes your head closer to hers for a deep kiss. more so, a sloppy one. she wipes your cheeks and the kisses started from sweet, to mean in a heartbeat. abby stroked you waist, making you clench you thighs together.
abby smirks, “you turned on princess?” she asks and you just whimpered in response, “fuck.. i gotta wake up early tomorrow.”
knowing your girlfriend has plans tomorrow morning, this sparked an idea in your head. abby can become a submissive mess when you’re in charge. so you decide to show her other ways who not to play with, and whose pussy she can only play with!
“so?” you replied in between kisses, “don’t want me to scream your name tonight?”
.. besides, making her miss out a big free brunch with her friends the next day will be an added punishment you thought.
the blonde smiles and throws you to the middle of the bed, causing you to squeal from the unexpected move. abby aggressively pulls down your shorts and underwear. your wet slick was ready for her.
“look at you all ready for me,” she circles her thumb on your lips slowly, “gotta fuck that jealousy out quick or else i’ll be late tomorrow, princess.”
you smiled maliciously in response as you bite your lip. abby then shoves her two fingers inside your mouth, “open.”
she pumps her ring and middle finger in and out. being all soaked in your drool making it wet enough to fit in your pussy. the sounds of your whimpers made her go crazy. you shut your eyes feeling abby’s cold, drenched fingers sliding inside.
your body shuttered, “s-shit baby..”
the sounds of your wet pussy is practically making abby drool.
“feels so fuckin’ good, keep going,” you ordered keeping a strong eye contact with the blonde, “just like that..”
“that fucking pussy,” abby whispers, you licked your lips looking down at her fat fingers going in and out, “you needy whore,” she degrades.
her words were like fire and heaven at the same time. you wouldn’t be so pissed off at her if she hadn’t let nat be all over her for three hours straight. now it’s your job to remind her whose pussy she can fuck. and the only one.
you let out an airy laugh, “i’m the whore hm? atleast i wasn’t flirting with another bitch,” she looks up at your face. you were trying to keep your composure while being mercilessly fucked.
you sat yourself up with elbows on the mattress, “you proud of yourself huh?” just inches away from her stupid smirk.
“faster,” you demanded.
she curled her fingers inside of you, hitting your g spot like a pro. you can help but let out a moan and rocked your hips in rhythm. that smirk of hets turned to an amazed expression once she hears your juices sloshing around.
“fuck baby,” abby was practically drenched under her pjs wanting to taste you, “p-please need to taste you.”
“nuh uh, you’re being mean all day. you don’t, f-fuck, deserve me.”
abby was desperate just by hearing you speak like this. you’re such an angel around her normally, like when she first met you, you were different than the other girls she had met before. she fell for you. but damn that mouth of yours was killer in bed.
the rare times you controlled her was only when you were pissed off at your girlfriend for the amount of disrespectful flirting that was happening in front of you, or not giving you updates on what she’s doing with her girl friends. however, you can’t blame yourself for having mixed trust issues knowing how many girlfriends abby has had.
maybe you’ve been too patient with her? letting shit go so easily?
“shit- c’mere” you groaned and kissed her viciously at the thought of her fucking another girl. one hand around her neck while the other grips her loose hair.
“mmm, keep going..” you moaned in her mouth.
abby rubs your clit, feeling your juices squirting all over her thighs, “p-please baby.. lemme clean you up” she begs to lick your folds but you resisted.
you slapped her cheek, her needy face turning red.
“shut up,” you growled, “better stop messing around.. i deserve fuckin’ better.”
abby whimpers, putting her head back in frustration. she then looks down to see you, a dripping pussy drunk mess. her fingers were sticky and all tired. however, she’s not stopping until she screams your name.
“atleast say my name when you cum,” she pleaded, “please.”
her voice made you feel every type of way. your thighs starting to heat up, a familiar feeling as you have had fucked yourself with the thought of her in the past. pounding noises as you thrust your hips on to her fingers harder puts many heated scenes in your head.
“abby.. oh my god- m’ fucking cumming..”
“that’s my girl, ride daddy’s dick,” she encourages you.
an orgasm was washing over you, “abby you’re mine. fuck- ah-“ you burried your face in the crooks of her neck.
“all yours baby, i’m sorry.” she kissed all over your shoulder, genuinely feeling bad that she didn’t give you the reassurance you wanted earlier.
“abs- fuckfuckfuck,” you screamed out, screaming her name loud enough the apartment below could hear you, “i hate you so much..”
“i love you princess.. love it when i make you cum..” she admits. your legs shaking like crazy, feeling overstimulated.
you know how that goes..
once you orgasmed, you let abby suck her fingers, tasting every bit of yourself. and just like that, you were laying down with a fast pounding in your chest. she caresses your stomach and kissed all over your body, still needing to feel you more. but knew you needed her the most.
“hey, you okay?” she asked softly, looking at your sleepy eyes. she just wanted the both of you to be good. “i’m fine.. just a little tired. i feel like you don’t know how badly it hurts me to see you purposely being all over people like that.”
abby sighs, knowing she fucked up. she didn’t want to be that person anymore. she loved you, really, but her actions just aren’t the thinkable. you both sleep skin to skin while she stays up to watch you fall deep in your sleep.
“i love you, angel.” she whispers. feeling all the guilt in her chest, your girlfriend pulls you in closer.
of course, she had to make it up to you the next day so she cancelled all plans. it’s not like she got up in time anyway.
well now you both know she won’t ever be doing that shit again.

thinking about frat boy abby…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ masterlist ˚୨୧⋆。˚⋆
a/n: this is just pure smut thoughts I had abt abby. I'll write more after the holidays!
warnings: 18+ content, strap talk, mention of cunnilingus, no actual smut just nsfw headcannons.
words: 446, shorter than usual :(
Tumblr media
shes so cocky and full of herself. always showing off. bragging about her muscles all the time. anytime she sees you she'll flex for you and try to impress you. she'll pick you up and say it's sooooo easy for her to manhandle you.
imagine being fwb with frat boy abby. oh my god all I can think about. she'll jokingly flirt with you in front of your friends but if another one of your friends does it, she's pissed. crossing her arms and huffing with a big pout.
she'll ask you to come back to her dorm that night. you know to "gently remind you how much you mean to her." and by that I mean she'll fucking rail you into the mattress.
if she can even last that long. usually she'll go to the bathroom and message you to follow her in. and the moment the bathroom door is shut, she's pulling your clothes off faster than you can even process what she's doing.
I bet she flexes her biceps when she eats you out. her huge hands on your thighs with her broad shoulders and arms on display as she laps at her sensitive folds. she'd totally look up at you and flex her arms to make you squirm.
ugh bringing you to frat parties just to fuck you in a bedroom upstairs. girl is always strapped. pushing you up against a wall, her massive hand covering your mouth, well more like half your fucking face. you grip onto it to ground yourself as her strap invades your weeping hole. small grunts coming from her lips.
I just know she'd want to watch her strap go in and out of you. she'd lean back a bit to see your hole swallowing her strap, praising you the whole time.
"atta girl. there you go. look at you. doing so good for me."
she'd speed up or thrust her hips into you with even more force and coo softly with her big arms around you. "you can take it. you've done it before. cmon, don't give out on me now, doll…"
she loves a noisy girl. your moans get her going. God, does she love it when you whine and whimper and make little pathetic noises. or when you beg. she could get off on that alone, and she has before.
especially with the base of the strap bumping her clit with every thrust. she's done for. she'll hide her face in your neck and just ramble incoherently about how good it feels then slow down to a stop.
in conclusion I'm a slut for abby's strap good god

doctor! abby anderson x fem! florist! reader
𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟑
𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒: on a soft autumn day, a blonde comes into your shop not quite knowing what she’d like. you assist her, and little did you know you’d be seeing her more often.
𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄: hello! i’m so sorry i haven’t been posting as often. School is starting up soon and i’ve been so busy with this and that and blah blah blah— so i’ve decided to just make a series so i can focus on this until i get to your guys’ requests!! they will be answered, but once i find the time. <3 (not proof read..)
𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐒 - slow burn, soft! reader, nervous abby, modern au, fluff!
Tumblr media
the light glow of the autumn sun lightly shining through your flower shops cotton curtains lit the room in a soft way.
low hums came from your lips as you arranged ordered flower bouquets, the smell of the orchids and baby breath fanning inside your nose gently, the nice scent easing your worried nerves.
your attention drifted from the flowers to the light ding of the bell above your old wooden door, eyes shifting to the entering person.
a beautiful blonde walked through, her muscular physique popping out like a sore thumb— the tight doctor uniform that curved her form was eye catching, luring you in as if you were a moth to a flame.
the sound of the door shutting had snapped you from your brief daze, shaking your head you preformed your customer service smile.
“hello, welcome.” you spoke softly, grasping at the braided girl’s attention. Her blue eyes met yours and an unfamiliar spark of electricity flooded your body— cliche, you know, but.. so real.
“hi..” she replied back in a low whisper, almost as if she was awestruck.
“is there anything i can help you with?” your question seemed to snap her from her own daze, eyelids coating her blue eyes two times quickly.
“oh— um.. yes, actually.” you smiled at her reply, eyes closing softly.
“with?”
“uh, so, i have this friend who graduated 8th grade and i wanted to get him some flowers,” she says, her tone determined.
“that’s sweet.” you giggled, looking away in order to sniffle your way to her, missing the light blush of her cheeks.
“do you maybe have a vague idea of what you are looking for?” you questioned, coming out from behind your counter to make your way to the many flowers around the shop.
“i.. i don’t,” she confessed, rubbing the back of her neck bashfully.
“i’ve never bought flowers for a thirteen year old.” her tone was shy, as if she was embarrassed to admit to such.
“that’s alright. would you mind telling me a little bit about his hobbies? what he enjoys? favorite color?” you inquired, watching as the blondes face scrunched.
“well, he likes sharks. they’re his favorite animal.. he likes to swing on swings, and go on walks.. he likes the smell of baked goods.. and i’m pretty sure his favorite color is blue.” she rambled lightly, smiling dearly at the thought of her close friend. Your heart warmed at the affection on her face, your own smile growing genuinely.
“he sounds like a nice person.” you commented before moving around the stronger girl, her eyes catching your form tightly with each move you made— picking few flowers from special clusters scattered throughout the shop.
Abby couldn’t help but admire your attention to the flowers, the way you thought hard about which one would be perfect. although you’ve never met her friend, she could tell you were trying to create an image of the boy from the very few things abby had told you.
Her eyes trained on you even as you went to the back, disappearing momentarily behind the doors before coming back out.
you hadn’t noticed her eyes on you, too focused on your enjoyment and fulfillment of placing a bouquet for this boy.
“here, tell me if you think this would suit him.” You held out the done bouquet gently— abby’s eyes widening at the beauty.
It was combination of flowers abby had never seen. the different colors and shapes fading together like an orchestra of immense talent. you were incredible at this.
“oh, wow,” abby gasped, her bigger hands wrapping around the end of the mixed flowers. They were covered in a small silk wrap, a tight blue bow keeping them together.
“it’s beautiful.”
heat rose to your cheeks, smiling shyly. “I hope it reminds you of him.”
“it does. although, i’d like to keep it for myself,” she laughed out. “i’m not sure that a thirteen year old will admire it as much as i am..”
her words had your heart doing little flips inside your chest, tummy hugging your insides.
“oh— i’m so happy you enjoy it so much. I hope your friend does as well.”
“me too..” she says, smiling at you. your eyes caught one another’s once again, the air froze with the pounding of your hearts.
Something about her ocean blues had you wishing for more. the sweetness within them was so cute, you weren’t exactly sure what you wanted.
the doorbell once again grabbed your attention, causing you to subconsciously welcome the new customer before turning back to the braided girl.
“um.. that will be $8.45.” you quickly said, desperately trying to ignore the flush of your cheeks.
you watched her formed arm reach for her wallet, fingers delicately taking out a $10 and handing it to you.
“keep the change.”
you were about to protest, claiming it wasn’t necessary— when she spoke first.
“I’m abby, by the way.” she said, of to which you stare at her for a moment.
“and my friend is Lev. thank you for the flowers, miss..” her eyes glanced down to your badge, a small smile lacing her features.
“..l/n.”
you were slow to speak, too flushed to reply; and before you knew it she was out the door, the next customer calling for assistance.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
you hadn’t known that the muscular blonde doctor, abby, would fill your mind as often as she had.
her ocean blue eyes that met yours like a key to a lock, her strong build that seemed as if she could carry anything and everything on her shoulders with no problem, her soft voice that had blush rising to your cheeks like a silly school girl, and oh— her kind words about your bouquet had done something to you.
creating bouquets was your passion, your hobby— something you loved with all your heart. To others, they are flowers bunched together with cute patterns; but to you, they say a million more things than words ever could.
they sing songs to you, they whisper words in your ear, they tell you where they go and who to give them to, finding the person they were grown to belong to. Their colors fading together as perfect as the universe and its stars, the sea and sands— two lovers and a kiss.
so when she complained not only your work, but truly saw the beauty of the flowers— it had your heart beating in a rhythm unlike any you’ve felt.
and hence she had taken up the majority of your mind, her features, her words— everything. but, in all honestly, you felt silly. you’d only met her once, and she hadn’t even learned your first name. you knew you’d probably never see her again, which was fine, truly. you were content with the single time words she had said to you.
a small hum of delight slipped past your lips at the comforting smell of your freshly baked eclair snuggled in wrap resting in your palm. the heat of the oven still present on its soft form, the smell of the still hardening chocolate and cold custard seeping from the small hole at the end of the pastry, your eyes gleaming with excitement.
It was a chilly morning, and you’d asked yourself; “what is better than a warm eclair and pumpkin spice latte?” nothing.
so that’s how you got here, rushing through the busy morning streets of Seattle and trying to make your way to your shop, without losing any of your breakfast.
soft ‘excuse me,’ and ‘Pardon me’s’ left your lips with each person you accidentally bumped in your rush, earning nothing but a subtle nod.
alas, the soft beige of your place came to view, windows misty from the cold autumn air.
your doc martens were the only sound on the floor now, echoing off building as you left the horde of busying people behind. You frown, eyes catching onto some flaking paint from your shops outside. You’ll have to get it repainted, which means you have to pull out the funds, find the color, call the guy— too much for your morning brain to comprehend.
you murmured a familiar tune under your breath, pulling out your keys to unlock the door to your shop, the wood creaking and bell ringing above you.
The familiar smell of flowers flooded your morning senses, instantly sending your mind into its common place of content.
you gently shut the door, making your way to behind the counter and placing down your eclair and drink. wrapping your pink apron around your body, tying the string tightly behind your waist, You finally have the time to eat your food.
you let out an excited squeak, laying out the wrapping of the eclair out and gently ripping off a piece of the pastry, which let out hot steam from the warmth.
you popped off the lid to your drink, dipping in the small piece you had. you smiled widely at the sight, blowing a few cool gusts on the sweet before placing it in your mouth, shutting your eyes in satisfaction at the flavor. you hadn’t had the time to fully indulge yourself in the flavor; the warmth— when once again the bell above the door had your attention.
you sigh silently, cursing yourself for not locking the door— but all sideways thoughts crash when your eyes land on the figure walking through the frame.
an all too familiar muscular girl, a long blonde braid falling down her back. You swallowed your bite quickly, wiping off your hands and putting the lid to your drink back on within a few seconds even you were surprised with your speed.
“hello, welcome in.” you said, a soft crack in your voice. embarrassment flooding you for a moment. The blondes eyes met yours, the newly found spark of something unfamiliar tinges in your chest uprising again.
“hello,” she replied, walking up to your counter. you weren’t sure if it was your light morning grogginess, or if she was really so close you could smell her perfume— or was it cologne?
“I don’t know if you remember me? from last week?” she commented, her words making you spiral from embarrassment.
“of course i remember you. i remember all my customers.” you responded back, sending a closed eye grin.
“oh— okay. um.. good,” she huffed a small laugh.
“i— I uh, wanted to say thank you for the bouquet. Lev really likes it. i think he has a kein eye for flowers that i didn’t know about.” she said in a laugh awkwardly, her arms shifting from her hips to your counter, not knowing where to land. you smiled warmly, liking the thought of another flower lover.
“that’s wonderful to hear. I’m glad he enjoyed them so much.” you didn’t quite know what to do with your hands, either. switching from underneath your counter to fiddle with your apron.
the smile that abby sent you was killer.
you could feel your cheeks heating up like the very oven that had baked your eclair. silence ate at the air for a while, abby looking around at the flowers.
“you know, i never got your name.” suddenly feeling self conscious of how your voice would act.
“Y/n.”
“y/n,” she said, testing the waters of how it feels on her tongue. your face warming. “i like it— it’s.. pretty,” abby cut herself off, sending you a smile. “like you.”
you swore your face blew a thousand different shades of red. you’ve never been openly flirted with, her words causing your throat to dry up.
you only stare at her, watching silently as she lets out a laugh to your embarrassment.
the door bell rang, signaling the entrance of the other customers. Your eyes reluctantly bounced from her figure to the entering ones, familiar faces reaching them.
“y/n!” dina yelled, smiling widely beside jesse, before her smile fell and she went pale upon seeing who was at the counter.
“Dr. Anderson?”

abby anderson x fem!reader
abby wanted what was best for lev, always. so when they come across a house, she sees her opportunity. thank god the owner is a total sweetheart. a little angsty + super fluffy! 2.9kwords.
!timeline wrong, not canon whatsoever, fluff, cuddles, a dog with a stupid name and Lev being funny and cute, a little angsty. divider by @firefly-graphics !
Tumblr media
They had spotted the house a few days ago, perched on a little hill and surrounded by dense woodland, perfectly hidden and protected by the natural environment. Lev had wanted to run right up to the front door the second they saw it, his usual fearlessness overpowering any logical thought, reminding Abby about a time she would rather forget… involving heights and bridges.
After a few minutes of bargaining, Abby had convinced Lev that they needed to wait a few days, scope the place out and keep close by. The two set up camp just out of sight and earshot of the house, envy growing every time they peeked at the puffing chimney and the warmth lining the window panes. What Abby wouldn’t do to get inside that house.
It would’ve been a whole lot easier if it was unoccupied, if they could just waltz right in and make themselves at home, take off their boots and hang up their coats. But close observation had pummelled that dream into the ground when they spotted you, bundled up in a brown coat and wool hat, walking a German Sheppard along little desire paths that you had carved into the earth.
You would return to the house with a smile on your face and the sweet dog trailing behind you, reminding Abby of Alice and pulling at her heartstrings. I miss her so much.
The chill of November had started to settle a few nights ago, with days getting shorter and the air getting colder. Lev felt a mild kind of jealousy working its way around him at the sight of you passing in front of the windows with only a t-shirt on, whilst he wrapped himself in every layer he owned. It must be so warm in there.
When a few suns had set and risen, Abby thought the situation had been assessed enough, thought she had gathered enough information and thought she was ready to march up to that front door and bust it open… and then kindly beg for mercy.
If Lev wasn’t with her, she probably wouldn’t even have paid the house a second look, she would’ve walked right past and kept on her way to nowhere. But her little companion had begged, literally pulled on her jacket sleeve and dug his heels in, when he spotted the house.
“We can just… I dunno… walk up and knock on the door.” He whispered, looking down at his fingers, already knowing the reaction he was going to get wasn’t going to be the one that he wanted.
“You’re kidding, right?”
“She seems nice.”
“Oh yeah, and you’ve talked to her?” Abby asked with a chuckle, placing her strong hands on her hips and turning around to look at you as you busied yourself in what appeared to be your kitchen.
Lev stayed silent, watching you too with his arms crossed over his chest in quiet defiance, “I can just tell.”
“You can just tell… right. And what about that massive dog on the porch, huh? What about him?”
“Hey! You’re the one who told me that dogs are nice.” His face crumpled in annoyance, brow furrowing and lip curling up in minute anger as he pointed a finger at her. He knew Abby was trying to scare him.
“No, I told you Alice was nice.”
“Look, we overheard her calling it Taco. No dog called Taco can be that bad.” He argued, waving his arms around manically in hopes it would force his point across.
Abby’s face turned fiercely serious, “you know what a taco is, right Lev? It’s not something to joke about. It’s a strain of infected that rips the limbs off people and-”
“Shut up, I know what a taco is. I already told you I’m thirteen, not eight. And don’t you dare say it.”
“You’re the size of an eight-year-old.”
Abby ended up promising to make a move the next time you came outside, just to make it all up to Lev. She didn’t expect the next time you ventured out to be when you were chopping firewood with an axe so big it almost made you topple over.
But she gathered her composure and climbed the hill slowly, keeping her eye on Taco who sat in his usual spot on the porch steps, panting with his pink tongue hanging out of his mouth. Abby wasn’t going to let his current adorable doe-eyed expression trick her, she knew he could turn at any moment and come bounding at her with red eyes.
Instead, his head lolled to the side at the sight of her and he trotted up to her before flopping onto his back with a cute doggy smile on his face. She bent down and gave him a gentle pat on the head, which was met with a happy whine.
“I was wondering when you were gonna come up here,” you said, turning around and greeting Abby with a pleasant smile. “You took your time. How long were you out there? A week?”
Her mouth felt like it was wired shut, put in a near-permanent state of shock at your fearlessness (and embarrassment based on the fact that she wasn’t as sneaky as she thought she was).
“Tell your little friend to come out too.”
Taco yapped angrily at the loss of Abby’s hand, chasing it with his head. You propped the axe up against a block of wood and made your way towards the house, giving Lev a little wave as he made his way out from behind the treeline from where Abby had come from.
“I’m guessing you guys want showers, and beds, and food. I’ve got everything you need in here.” You smiled as Lev picked up his pace towards you, only for his hood to be grabbed by Abby as they shared some hushed words.
You didn’t need to hear the conversation to know what was being said, you knew your unusual generosity was screaming alarm bells at the pair, but the decision to welcome them into your home (even if they just wanted it for one night) was one that was made quickly and easily.
The reason: loneliness.
Having spoken to no one but your father, who only came once a week to deliver supplies, it was no wonder you were feeling a little alone. You missed having someone to love on, someone to touch, someone to cuddle. One look at Abby and you decided that she was the only one you would give that to.
After about thirty seconds, Lev shook Abby off and followed you, rushing up the stairs and through the door, finding you in the kitchen, at the fridge. He gawked at the stocked shelves, and you stood there giggling at him, “help yourself, hun.”
Leaving him to his own devices, you wandered into the living room to find Abby checking the locks on all your windows and pulling the curtains closed. Her powerful frame took up a good chunk of space, filling the room with a sense of security even though there was a feeling far from it painted across her face.
“Hey,” you said quietly, grabbing her attention, “you can leave if you want, or only stay for a few hours, it’s completely up to you.”
Abby couldn’t help but be taken aback by your kindness. She couldn’t remember the last time anyone other than Lev had smiled at her, and here you were opening up your home to her. But she nodded her head as you spoke, trying to show a little appreciation before she started her interrogation.
“What’s in it for you?”
Pursing your lips, you thought it over. The answer was easy enough to come up with, it had spawned in your mind the moment you even thought about the prospect of having someone, other than Taco, to talk to.
“Company?”
“Okay… and that’s it? You don’t want anything in return?”
“I guess it depends on how long you’re planning on staying.” You answered as Abby took a seat on your battered couch, shrugging her jacket off and relishing the heated air. You followed her lead and took yours off too, laying it over the arm of the chair and sitting down next to her, slowly. “Firewood doesn’t chop itself.”
Abby laughed at that, just a quiet one under her breath that made a grin break out across your face. Maybe you were getting a little ahead of yourself, and maybe it was a little too ambitious… but you really hoped she would stay.
“So, Lev, here you go,” you said. “Here are three blankets just in case you get a little cold, and a pillow, and just letting you know that Taco might crush your feet if you don’t move them because that’s his favourite place to sleep.”
You looked down at him sprawled out on your couch, his head now propped up on cotton and feathers, making a content sigh burst out of him, “thank you so much.”
“No problem, hun. You get some rest and I’ll make you pancakes in the mornin’, okay?”
“What are pancakes?”
You giggled, “I guess you’ll see.”
The walk from Lev to your bedroom was short, directly down the hall and behind a chipped door. Your bed was pushed right up in the corner of the room, with a solid white comforter pulled over a soft mattress, topped with cushions and more blankets you had found.
The sounds of water hitting the floor drifted under your bathroom door, along with the steam, as you sat down and waited for Abby to finish showering. You had already laid out some clean underwear and an longsleeve men’s shirt you had found at the bottom of one of your drawers, thinking that it would suit her (and fit her) better than anything you owned.
The two of you had chatted deeply over dinner, her sharing details of the explorations with Lev, how they met, her time at WLF, her friends… more than you thought you deserved to know, but there was something about the compassion in your eyes that made Abby pour her heart out. She felt safer than she ever had when she looked at you, safe in a way no one had ever made her feel. And it was overwhelming.
She used her time in the shower to release the tension, letting the scalding water work over her tired muscles. The tears managed to keep themselves at bay as she stepped out, whimpering at the softness of your bathmat and the warmth of the towel you had left out for her. She dried off and wrapped it around herself, padding over to the door and cracking it open, seeing your face move to her as you jumped up off the corner of the bed.
“Hey…” you started, feeling Abby’s reserved nature, the one she had had when you met earlier, pop back up between you, “I have some pjs here for you… it’s just a shirt and underwear but it’s better than nothing. I can see if I can find some bottoms for you if you’d like, but I-”
“No, no. That’s more than enough, thank you.”
You nodded, smiling so tenderly at her that she had to avert her gaze to the ground. She was terrified of crying, letting the tears fall and the strength fall with them. Too much attention spent on hiding her emotions, she didn’t notice you in front of her until your hands were on her bare shoulders.
“You’re okay now, Abby. Both of you are safe here.” You whispered, feeling her muscles bunch up underneath your fingers and her shoulders slowly start to shake with tears, “oh, honey.”
You didn’t think twice before wrapping your arms around her the best you could, squeezing her to you fiercely, trying to ground her to you. She had a few inches on you, so you cuddled her around her upper-waist, palms flat in the centre of her back. You considered pulling away when you felt no response from her, scared you had pushed it a little too far, but her own arms wound their way around your shoulders, their weight tying you to her.
“Thank you.”
Kissing the side of her neck, your pulled back and took her face in your hands, “it’s my pleasure, baby. And I know we agreed that you would sleep on the floor but, how do you feel about sharing with me? Yeah? I just wanna cuddle.”
Her lips were pouted adorably as she nodded at you, placing her hands on top of yours and winding your fingers together, pulling your right hand to her lips and giving your knuckles a sweet kiss.
Once she had released you, you turned towards your window, letting her get dressed in subtle privacy as you checked and double checked the lock before pulling the blind down, the only light now being your bedside lamp. You then shuffled out of your pyjama pants before laying them over the chair in the corner of the room, only turning around when you heard the quiet rustle of sheets and the familiar creek of your bedframe.
Abby took a deep breath at the sight of you, awaiting the feeling of your skin again, imagining what your thighs would feel like pressed into the back of hers as you spooned her. She pulled the duvet up to her chin, willing the cold cotton to warm up as you climbed up to your side, slinking under the blanket as to not pull any from Abby.
When you reached over her to shut off the light, you paused, staring down at her in barely-contained awe, entranced by her beauty, “you’re gonna stay, right?”
“I’m staying. We’re staying.” She whispered finitely, watching your eyes dance across her face, drinking her in before you dropped a warm kiss on the corner of her mouth. You smiled and let the room fall into darkness.
Instead of fleeing back over to your side of the bed like Abby thought you might do, you wrapped a leg around her waist, your thigh pressing over her hips and warming her tummy. An arm wrapped around you almost naturally, pulling you closer as you laid a palm on her chest, along with your head.
Abby fell asleep faster than she ever had.

Yara's ghost
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yara definitely approves Abby as Lev's new big sister. Maybe she walks by their side as a ghost and tries to protect them both?
This started as a rough sketch centering Lev. I used photomode references that can be found below as links to the original posts:)

♱ Blade
knifeplay ellie!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Just thought of this just now omfg. This was chefs kiss, I wanted to release something for y’all this week soooo bad. I was trying to put out my most recent fanfic I have been working on this Friday but girl I have CLEARLY forgot the process of a fanfic 😭. Long as hell. Anyway but enjoy this while I try to get the fanfic done my loves. Let me know if y’all want more knife play Ellie 🥴. If there is bad grammar ignore that shit its 3:44 am I'm tired let a bitch live 🙏🏾.
Warnings: Knife play! Dom E! Sub R! SMUT!
“Shh..we’re gonna get caught.”
Ellie whispered as she continued to thrust the end of her pocket knife inside you. You lay back against the wall, both of you on the ground in an abandoned office room. You were sent on patrol to be looking for more files about the virus. However, you’re legs were spread open for her as she used her knife as a dildo. Fucking you with it repeatedly. Dangerous as it seemed she did not let the blade touch you whatsoever. Ellie was holding the blade in order to have control over the pace of the knife.
Full on holding the end of the blade with her bare hands without cutting herself.
Classic Ellie Williams. You were worried she’d end up cutting herself but she couldn’t give two fucks.
You groaned as she bobbed the knife in and out of you. Starting at a slow smooth pace, but slowly working her way up. Tattooed hand holding your thigh open and controlling the pace of the knife with the other. Watching the end of the knife glisten with your juices.
“Taking it so well for me. Next time we’ll just have to get a bigger knife yeah?”
Ellie teased, watching you nod your head exhaustingly. You were dazed in pleasure. It surprised you to think a pocket knife could give you so much satisfaction. Or maybe because the cunning auburn haired girl in front of you was fucking you with it.
She started getting down between your legs. The knife still pacing inside of you. Her hand was on the blade, licking the tip of the silver sharp object. Slowly while looking up at you.
With those green eyes.
Both of you locking eyes as she pulled such a move. Immediately making you fold.

Time; Rejection
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is part one to my “time” fic series, i dont know how many parts there will be yet, but i hope yall like a bit of angst :)
warnings ambiguous relationship/feelings between abby and reader (for now), she/her reader, reference to torture (isaac’s questioning/rattlers), lasting effects of mentioned torture (later parts), morally grey reader, ambiguous/story-teller dependent interpretation of major past event between characters
part two part three
chapter one on ao3
When you split from your friends, it wasn’t the kindest goodbye. Salt Lake was fresh in your minds and to them, it felt like you were simply abandoning them by going to California after your long search together of where to go. They couldn’t understand why you’d want to go find fireflies after what happened— after what you heard about the hatred that was left for what you once were.
Abby was the most hurt by your decision. She didn’t speak to you after the moment you brought it up, and although her words weren’t anywhere near as cruel as the others’, they stung.
“Just know we’ll never see each other again,” she’d said, “‘cause as soon as I hear about any fireflies, I’m going the opposite fucking direction.”
And it was true. Four years had passed, and you hadn’t heard a word. You had no idea where they were. Whether or not they were okay. You didn’t even know if they were alive until you found yourself in Washington one winter month.
You’d been sent out on a mission and accidentally found yourself at the gate of someone’s Headquarters. Judging by the scenery; murals and graffiti, you only hoped it wasn’t the “Scars’”.
Their leader was harsh— brutal— in his questioning, and by the time he got the answers he was happy with, you could hardly speak. When he told you to head down to his medical station, you couldn’t even stand on your own.
You quickly grew a dislike for this group when you saw the rest of your squad was there as well, some even dead from the brutalization of their questioning.
Even when they took you to medical, they were all but kind. The grip on your arm, hands still tied behind your back, was bruising. They were tugging and pulling you when you could hardly keep up, making you trip over your own feet as they seemed irritated with you for even existing.
When you got to the medical room, you were shoved in. The force of it made you fall to the floor with no way to get yourself up, coughing until you spat up blood and heaved in a large breath.
“What the fuck, Danny?!” You could hear someone yell, presumably at the man who practically threw you when the rest of your comrades were sat down— not kindly either, but definitely not thrown.
“Trespassers. Thought they were Scars. Isaac had to deal with this one,” ‘Danny’ spoke, gesturing to you as one of the people there came to help you up. “She was difficult.”
The other person scoffed, but as you were helped up, you were momentarily dropped. One of your comrades said your name, telling you to “get up before they put you out of your misery.” That caused the person helping you to freeze, nearly dropping you back down before they got you onto your knees and wiped the blood from your face.
“No fucking way,” it was a girl’s voice, one you faintly recognized. You looked up at her, swallowing when you met her brown eyes. You looked over her, brown skin with faint beauty marks that you easily remembered the placement of. “Mel—“
“Nora?” You rasped out, your voice bringing the other medics’ attention— Mel’s attention. You couldn’t be sure it was the same Mel, but, by the way Nora said her name, you were almost certain.
“Oh my God,” was Mel’s reaction. You looked over at her, easily recognizing her from the mole on her chin despite her now chopped hair and hardly visible bump.
You were swiftly pulled into Nora’s arms, her eyes wide in shock as she hugged you to be sure you were real. You winced, quickly reminding the two of them why you were there and getting helped immediately.
“You know this bitch?!” Danny asked, scoffing as your hands were untied and your arm was slung over Nora’s shoulders.
“Fuck off,” she said, taking you to a separate room and leaving your squad with the other medics.
As you passed by your comrade getting treated, you were given a look that you knew meant you needed to get out of there as soon as possible or they’d leave you behind. You knew there wasn’t time.
When you were sat down in the room, Mel shut the door and said a code into her walkie while Nora treated your injuries. “I thought we’d never see you again,” she said as she stitched and bandaged, but you didn’t reply. “How did you get here? Did you know we were here?” Her questions ran on, but those stuck in your mind.
She said it as if she was excited to see you… Like you didn’t remember how both of them treated you before you left; telling you how they hoped to never see you again, how awful of a friend you were, they thought you were all family, the list went on. They were also the only ones to hug you when you left in the middle of the night, so you supposed their words came from hurt rather than malice.
You still remembered the night. You’d actually planned on staying with them and waiting to see what you found so you could stay together, but after Abby’s words at the mere idea you brought up, and the onslaught that followed from your friends, you waited until they were all asleep.
You quietly grabbed your things, sniffling and wiping your eyes, hoping not to wake anyone.
You left just as quietly, but that didn’t stop Mel and Nora from waking up, the two of them somehow knowing something was off.
“Don’t go,” was what made you pause and turn back as the two got up. “No one wants you to leave,” Nora said. “I mean, that’s why anyone said anything…” She trailed off, noticing your pursed lips. “We all want you to stay.”
“I don’t think so,” was your response. “I’ll try and find you guys again, or something.” You shrugged.
“How can you be so flippant about this?” Mel asked, face red and voice restricted as if she was trying to hold herself together. “How long have you been thinking about, just, leaving?”
“It was just an idea… I thought we might all go together, but…” You shook your head. “I don’t want to leave you guys, but I don’t want to stay either. It’d be better if I didn’t, I think—”
“Please?” Mel pursed her lips, arms crossed as she hugged herself. “Just lie back down. We can talk in the morning, or something? I’m sure everyone was just surprised. Maybe, it can be an option? Just don’t go.” Nora placed a hand on her shoulder.
She’d been up all night already, having been stressing herself out for most of it while Nora lied with her and tried to comfort her. She knew you’d try and leave while they slept. She knew you hated confrontation, fighting, all of that. She knew you were hurt, too. She just knew. She knew you’d make a decision like this after the things everyone said in response to a simple idea. How couldn’t you? They were all cruel.
But they were also all hurt.
Mel shrugged off Nora’s hand, taking both of yours in hers. “You probably won’t even survive out there alone,” she said. “we’ll find something. Together. Just stay— even just a little longer. You can still go if you want to, just… just give it some time.”
Your eyes drifted to Abby, who you’d usually be sleeping by. That night, you’d spent by the fire despite her asking if you were coming to lie down by placing her hand on your shoulder as she passed you. The small gesture, even if she meant well, was so passive that it practically made you think she was just telling you to leave.
She was awake when you looked at her though, possibly having woken up from the conversation, a nightmare, or maybe she never slept.
Her expression was lame, eyes holding your gaze for a moment before she turned over and gave you her back.
That was the deciding factor, you’d come to after all these years. What really made you not listen to your friend, begging you to stay, was Abby’s dismissal. It was a blatant rejection. She wanted you gone now. You knew she did.
That was what led Mel to apologize for what she said, giving you a long hug before Nora did the same, not even bothering to try and change your mind when she knew there was no stopping you.
When the rest of the group woke up, they were shocked to see you gone. Even Abby, who woke in a jolt and felt next to her for you, thinking maybe what she remembered hearing as a goodbye last night wasn’t actually the case. Though, when she felt the space next to her empty, not even your blanket there, it proved to be true.
It caused a rift between the group, blame flying each and every way until it was finally mended with time.
If you’d only given them some time.
“Were you trying to find us?” The question brought you out of your dazed state as you remembered the night in vivid detail. You often did, the memory flashing before your eyes and being able to completely ruin your day in just seconds.
“If I knew you were here, I wouldn’t have come,” you said quietly, voice hoarse and lacking conviction.
“We thought you might’ve…” Mel stopped herself, suddenly recognizing the attempted hostility in your tone. “What?” She frowned.
“We said our goodbyes,” was your response, forcing yourself to be dismissive. “After that night, I didn’t expect to see you guys again.” You watched as Nora finished off the last of her stitches, pushing yourself to stand despite the nausea that came over you when you did. “And… even if I wanted to, why would I want to meet like this?”
She seemed shocked, though Nora wasn’t surprised. She still remembered everything that was said. How all of your friends suddenly flipped on you. She didn’t expect you to be the same as before, but she also didn’t expect blatant rejection.
When you looked at her, knowing she always had something to say, she shook her head. “I’m just glad you’re alive.”
“Yeah… You guys, too.” You went to leave, but Mel stopped you.
“Sit down.” She stepped in front of the door. “You’re not even cleared yet.”
“Mel. Come on,” Nora sighed. She had a feeling if Mel pressed you, you weren’t going to be receptive. Judging by your demeanor, she expected you to snap at her. “Just let her go.”
“Owen’s coming… He’d want to see you,” Mel tried but was met with a frown as you stepped around her. She sighed, glancing toward Nora before looking back at you. “Is this really how we’re leaving things?” You were quiet, lips pursed. “You’re not even going to tell us how you’ve been?”
“I’ve been… fine.” You shrugged, knowing she was right but also knowing you didn’t have time to talk. “I’m also a medic.” Mel nodded along, waiting for anything else as you turned to her again. “I’ve missed you guys.”
“Us, too,” Nora said quickly. As if she’d been waiting for an opportunity to say so. “Everyone… They all talk about you; miss you. Abby—“
“I, uh, heard something recently that reminded me of you,” you cut her off before she could mention her. “Tommy… Joel’s brother. Turns out he settled in Wyoming when he left. People were talking about it… Figured it’s been hard to get leads— if you’re even still looking.”
Nora scoffed. “You have no idea…”
“Then, I’m glad I got to tell you.” You gave a nod, heading for the door.
“Come with us,” Mel pushed herself to try again. “To Wyoming. As soon as Abby hears about it, we’ll be going. You deserve to see this through, too.”
You grasped the handle. “I trust you guys to do that.” You then opened the door, leaving the two to feel dismissed as you did.
Though, when you did open the door and walk to your waiting squad to leave, Owen was rushing in. He stopped at the sight of you, staring for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak, words leaving him and making him shut his mouth again as you gave him a tight, practically unnoticeable smile. He stepped aside, letting you and your group pass without a word.
You realized why he stayed quiet when you exited the small building. Abby, Manny, Leah, Jordan, Nick… Mel had called them all with that code. What she expected… Some kind of reunion? You had no idea, and you couldn’t wait to find out even if you wanted to. You gave a passing glance, not even sure they all recognized you, but that was all as you walked with your group toward the exit, wishing you didn’t have to.
Abby nearly doubled back, but she stopped when Manny grabbed her arm. “That conversation won’t go how you want it to,” he warned. “Just let her go.”
How many times she’d heard that in reference to you, how many times she had to just accept that, only to see you walking past her without even a word just now made her so upset she felt sick. She couldn’t pinpoint why. She couldn’t even understand it herself. But she could feel her eyes stinging, her nose reddening as a sudden wave of nausea passed over her.
“You have to let her go,” she could remember Owen saying when he found Abby listening to an old tape recording you must’ve forgotten to take with you.
“I found this,” was her response, holding up an old photo of the two of you that you also left behind. She had a hard time believing that was an accident, though.
“Just let her go,” Leah said the morning they all woke up to you gone. Abby was insistent on tracking you, knowing you wouldn’t be far. “What if we find a body? What are we going to do then?”
“What the fuck, Leah?” Nora scoffed at her.
“I’m not the one that said anything to make her leave in the first place,” she bit back. “And now you wanna go find her? Go fuck yourselves.”
“Let her go,” Nora told her one day, having gone to Abby’s room and seen that old photo. The moment she did, that’s what she told her, and in response, Abby tossed one at her. She picked it up, surprised to see a picture of you, her, and Mel, apprenticing Abby’s dad in his greenhouse. “Where’d you get this?”
“Leah has a bunch.”
Despite everyone telling her to let you go, none of them wanted to. Somehow, they still couldn’t understand how you just left. Even if they told you to, they couldn’t grasp it. They’d all said horrible things to each other, time and time again, and they moved past it, so how did you leave? How could you?
It was a mix of anger and regret they all felt, but seeing you that day made their anger with you for leaving subside. After all those years spent thinking of you, wondering whether or not you were okay, fighting over whether or not to go and find you, you wanted nothing to do with them. You didn’t even want to acknowledge them, let alone speak to them.
If it hadn’t been for the news Mel delivered from you, Abby probably would’ve gone back to her room and burned every picture of you. They were in her drawer, taped to maps, in a journal of her plans after she found Joel; find you. Instead, she left them as they were.
Maybe, this was how you were meant to say goodbye. Less so on a bitter end, but without resolution, your feelings about one another up in the air with neither of you wanting to define them or what they meant.
Or maybe, it was supposed to go like this.
Months later, after all hell broke loose. After Abby finally found what she was looking for, she was left still unable to find peace. She thought she did. She thought she found the fireflies, just where Owen said they’d be, but there were months of delay. Months of torture, and pain. If she could see herself, she probably wouldn’t even recognize the person she was looking at.
Yet somehow, you did.
You heard about the newest recruits– two that had to stay in the medical facility for some time thanks to the rattlers, but now that they had been released, you hadn’t heard much about them.
At least, not until you were introduced to a young boy added to your training group. He was skilled with a bow, and surely could’ve been a soldier, but for some reason, he wanted to learn how to heal. You didn’t ask why, but when he asked to stay a little longer with you in your greenhouse, you didn’t object, gladly talking to him about whatever he was comfortable bringing up.
Eventually, after at least an hour, the door to your greenhouse was opened. “Lev?” A girl’s voice spoke up. You almost recognized it, but figured it was unlikely that you did. The boy perked up, looking back at the door with a smile as you continued to work and re-pot your plants. “Hey… What are you still doing here?”
He pointed his thumb back at you, busy enough not to be eavesdropping. “I asked to stay a little longer, so she could teach me about making medicines.”
“Your patrol group is waiting for you.”
“Shit,” he muttered, the word sounding foreign coming from him and making you chuckle. “Can I come back later?” He asked you, earning a sweet smile.
“Of course!” He then rushed out as you finished what you were doing, carrying the plants back to where they should be. “Did you need anything?” You called to the girl still in your greenhouse, speaking from behind a hedge of flowers. “Sleep tonic, or something?”
“No… uh…” She was mumbling, words incoherent until she said your name, “Is that you?”
You set down the pots, heading through the maze of plants to get to the front door. You paused, looking over her. She was smaller, her muscle diminished to the point that it was hardly there anymore, and her hair chopped. It must've grown, now down to just above her shoulders, but you remembered hearing about a girl with hair cut close to her head. You frowned at the sight of her.
“You don’t… recognize me do you—?“
“What did they do to you?” You asked over her, walking up to her tentatively, hands reaching out as you thought about whether or not to make a move to hold her. Your eyes met hers, head tilting as your brows pulled together. “Abby…” Despite your better judgment, you reached out and pulled her into a hug, shocking her. Your hands ran over her hair, knowing why she let it grow out all those years; knowing she would never cut it herself.
“Fuck,” she cursed under her breath, quickly pushing away from you and turning her back to you as her hand went to her face, fingers pinching the bridge of her nose.
You pursed your lips, looking to the floor. “Sorry. I forgot you didn’t like—“
“It’s not that.” She scoffed at you, blinking rapidly before she turned back. “I just— It’s just that I lost everyone else… I didn’t think I’d find you.”

Some Tsukki Angst? I guess? It's kinda bad lol
Tumblr media
Thinking about Tsukishima who desperately wants to be more than friends.
Tsukishima who starts getting hope after a few years of friendship and comes this 🤏 close to confessing
But he doesn't, because he comes to the nauseating realization that he's simply not your type. And he can't even be mad about it.
You're so embedded into his heart that he can't tell you that you're delusional for wanting a guy that will praise you and shower you with love and affection, all for the world to see; because he knows deep down that you deserve that. You deserve the sweet and affectionate guy that you want, but maybe he thinks that way because you mean the world to him.
Tsukishima can't force himself to shame you for wanting something just because he can't give it to you.
And he tries to be that for you, oh how he tries. But that's just not who he is.
He struggles with expressing his emotions, so he can't wear his heart on his sleeve. He expresses love through banter and sarcasm, his tongue gets tied at the taste of praise and sweet words turn sour when he says them.
Tsukishima just can't force himself to become your type, because it means rewiring his brain and his heart and how he feels love (he knows you wouldn't want him to do that)
Tsukishima is not your type and it becomes all the more obvious when He comes into the picture.
He's all starry eyed, unabashedly showcasing his feelings for you like he's not ashamed, not afraid to seem desperate or to make a fool of himself.
He lays his heart out for you, takes every chance he can get to be close to you. His honesty and the genuine love he harbors for you is evident. He's everything Kei tried to force himself to be, effortlessly. The blonde hates how clearly you're falling for him.
Tsukishima hates that he can't resent him for being everything you want, everything you deserve.
He hates that he knows you love him, deep in your heart, but not in the way he so desires.
And he hates that he has no right to feel the way he does. That there's nothing anyone can do about it.
He's just not your type

Why Does Change Hurt So Much? Pt. 2
Joel Miller X F!Reader Ellie Williams X Dina
Joel knew deep down he wouldn't be able to erase the memories of his past, nor could he hide the damage he had done. He just needed to accept it was time to move on, things would never be the same

Ellie watched the infirmary like a hawk everyday to see when Joel would finally be released to go back home. She needed to talk to him, to discuss things without it blowing up in her face and causing one of the only people she cared about to get hurt. Tommy had promised he would tell her when he went home if she was out on patrol. What she hadn’t been expecting was for Maria to send her out with the group that was to get the last of the medical supplies from the hospital. It had to be a joke, she’d been waiting for Joel to get better so that they could talk and now she wanted Ellie to just up and leave for who knows how long?
Jesse had been the one to convince her that if she did something that could benefit everyone in Jackson maybe Joel would be a little more willing to talk. It was the day they’d left that Joel was allowed to go back home, an hour before Ellie was on horseback Joel was stumbling into his living room. Tommy lied and said he was still in the bed for a few more days, claiming he’d sparked a small fever. It wasn’t Joel that was asking Tommy to lie for him, though it wouldn’t be the first time. No, it was you begging the younger Miller brother not to tell Ellie what was going on.
You held no anger towards her, knowing the risk that was leaving the walls of Jackson to go on a journey, but Joel was still healing. The stitches left behind a scar, directly next to the one that Ellie had had to sew all those years ago. Maybe that was why you were so afraid to let her near him right now, Joel had gotten hurt and it was enough to scare you. You’d spent hours talking while he laid in bed, from the last time he’d been in this same position, to what would happen next. Joel wanted to talk things out with Ellie, to put everything in the past and just move on, but he wasn’t sure where they could go from there.
“Baby, I can make coffee for myself you don’t need to worry,” Joel was staring you down, refusing to let you wait on him hand and foot anymore.
“Please Joel? I had to watch you basically become comatose for a week, the last thing I want to worry about is you hurting yourself,” You weren’t above begging, had done it on plenty occasions when it came to Joel.
He sighed softly, pushing away from the counter to let you take over for him. You smiled softly at him before finishing the simple task. Joel was thankful you weren’t set out on patrols, though Tommy never said as to why. It had been a thought that lingered in the back of his mind for the first few months of your relationship but he’d eventually moved on. You went to ask if he wanted anything to eat alongside his coffee before a small knock caught your attention. Shit, this wasn’t the best time for this to happen.
“Do you want to get the door?” Normally you’d run over to prevent Joel from seeing Ellie so soon, but you wanted them to talk.
“Oh I’m allowed to open the door but not make my own coffee?” His tone was teasing, and although you knew that meant he was in a good mood it could sour in an instant.
Ellie was twisting her fingers together, a nervous tick she’d picked up over the years that she hadn’t managed to shake. The sound of the door opening brought her attention back to the now, staring up at Joel as he stared down at her. You couldn’t look away from the coffee in front of you, unsure of what you’d say if you were confronted as well. Cold air was pouring into the kitchen as Joel and Ellie stared at one another, both staying completely silent.
“Hey, can we talk please?” It was a repeat of that day all over again, down to the damn coffee.
“Yeah, we can talk inside,” Joel moved away from the door, waiting for Ellie to step inside before shutting it tight.
You pushed the plunger down on the press once the coffee was ready, pouring a cup for Joel and offering one to Ellie. She politely declined, saying she never developed a taste for it. It had been something Joel teased her about for years before she’d hated him. Joel sat down in the chair slowly, being careful of his side that was still healing. Ellie sat across from him, watching the way he took the mug from you gently. She’d never been around couples enough to know when people were truly in love, but this? She could see the way Joel lit up when you were around, how much he wanted to pull you into his lap and smother your face with kisses. You pressed a soft kiss to his cheek before excusing yourself from the room, it was time for the two of them to talk about everything.
“Joel, I’m sorry,” Ellie wasn’t sure how she should start the conversation but it just slipped out.
“Ellie, I really don’t want to argue about this again,” Joel had gone through a million different scenarios while in the infirmary, and each one led back to the same dead end.
“I don’t want to argue with you Joel, I want to figure out how we can finally move past all the bullshit,” She’d talked with Jesse and Dina during the most recent trip, they offered the best advice they could but neither could truly understand the issues at hand.
Joel frowned, pulling the mug to his lips and letting the warm coffee slide down his throat. He’d barely remembered the ride back from the hospital, but he knew it was Ellie that helped get him home. That didn’t change things though, deep down he knew she was still hurt by his actions and that would never erase everything. It was selfish, possibly even a little bit stupid but Joel never claimed to be highly intelligent when it came to those he cared about. He crossed over half the country in search of his brother.
“You look at her differently than you looked at Tess,” Oh that was definitely the wrong thing to say.
“Tess and I were never together like that, it was too dangerous to get close in the QZ,” Joel’s grip tightened on the mug, his voice pitching an octave lower.
“She made it pretty obvious that she loved you before it all went to shit,” Ellie couldn’t stop the words from spilling out, eyes widening in fear as she watched his expression morph into one of pure rage.
“You don’t think I know that? She was one of the first people I started to trust during all this shit, she was the first friend I had in years! So do not sit there and act like I wasn’t aware of how Tess felt about me,” Joel pushed away from the table harshly, stumbling over to the kitchen sink.
You had been eavesdropping from around the corner, a hand pressed against your mouth to prevent the heartbroken gasp that slipped through your lips. Joel had told you about Tess, about how he’d cared about her but was too afraid to let himself just be. How they’d met Bill and Frank through the radio and had amazing lunches made by Bill. You’d wanted to make those same kinds of memories together, but you didn’t want to overshadow how much those people meant to him.
“I didn’t want anyone to get hurt, and when you live in a place where people aren’t even fucking honest when they get bit, it’s a little hard to get close,” Ellie had heard the amount of people being murdered in the streets, hearing their horrified screams.
“Then why start a relationship in the first place?” Maybe it was a low blow, but Ellie hadn’t been in a serious relationship before.
“Because I did love her, but I couldn’t be what she wanted me to be,” Joel rinsed out the cup, grimacing at how much coffee he had wasted.
Joel had closed himself off for years, not willing to let anyone past the barrier that was his heart for the rest of his days. It wasn’t until Ellie had pushed him away that he’d even realized just how lonely he was. And now here you were, the wife he’d never thought he’d have after living much too long into the apocalypse. He was watching his brother and sister-in-law become the parents he once was.
“I was the reason you got stabbed, if I hadn’t run into the room when you and Tommy were arguing we’d have all gone back to Jackson and you wouldn’t have gotten hurt,” Ellie blamed herself for a lot of different things, but this was one of the main ones.
“Ellie-”
“No, had you not left to go and get any of the supplies you would have gone back home to be with your wife, but instead you got stabbed and had a bunch of kids making sure you didn't die on the way home,” It was a reminder of the before.
Joel had never blamed her, he’d always known there would be risks while patrolling or even going on supply runs, it just happens. The girl who’d stabbed him had come up on his right side, noticing how he didn’t react to absolutely anything until the blade dug deep. Joel wanted to yell, to get their attention so desperately, but there was someone else in the room. It was better just to just slowly bleed out and die.
“Ellie, I knew the risks of going on that run even before I got onto my horse that day, you don’t need to blame yourself,” He could see your shadow from where you were leaning against the wall that separated the living room and kitchen.
“You got stabbed, again!” Ellie was slightly hysterical, more angry with herself than anything.
“People aren’t always going to be friendly, I don’t think they even realized that the three of you were there,” He’d had nightmares of that scenario happening all over, except he wasn’t the one being stabbed.
At first it was Ellie, and then Dina, Tommy, and then finally you. He’d refused to sleep after he watched you bleed out in his arms, tears streaking down his cheeks. It didn’t matter that you were asleep next to him, head pillowed on your arms as you slept so peacefully.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” This was it, Joel was about to lay everything out on the table so there were no longer any secrets between them.
“What’s wrong?” Ellie perked up in her seat, all attention focused solely on the older man.
“Back when we weren’t talking I may have been a little reckless. I’d only kept myself alive because I wanted to make sure that you would be alright, and once you found out the truth” Joel sighed to himself, this wasn’t going to be easy.
“I didn’t care whether I lived or died anymore, Tommy would send me out on patrols and supply runs and I just got careless. I nearly got myself killed more times in those few months than I did when I was still doing runs for the QZ,” It was shameful to admit Joel hadn’t wanted to survive.
It felt like a dirty secret, he hadn’t even told you how much he hated being alive during that time, even after you’d first gotten together he kept that part of himself hidden. Maybe it was because his first attempt had been unsuccessful, and losing another kid broke him down. It took for his little niece to be born for things to finally change, his brushes with death were over.
“Your wifes really nice, she didn’t even get mad at me when I told her it was my fault you got hurt,” Ellie had been nearly inconsolable that day, crying into the fabric of your shirt.
“That’s who she is as a person, I couldn’t ask for a better life partner,” Joel twirled the ring on his finger absentmindedly.
“I’m really sorry about what I said that night, you were just being protective and I got angry because of it,” Joel knew Ellie could fight her own battles, she was stronger than everyone gave her credit for.
Joel just nodded, eyes glazed over as he stared down at the floor, memories flooding his mind as the world continued on around him. What would have happened if he’d succumbed to his injuries during that supply run? Would Ellie have blamed herself for his death the way he blamed himself for why she hated him?
“I never wanted you to have to deal with people being assholes over something like that, you deserve to be happy,” Joel had always been a supportive person, why did it matter who someone chose to spend their life with?
“Thanks,” Was it that obvious that Ellie and Dina were together? She’d kept it quiet for Jesse’s sake, even if he already knew.
“I just wanted to let you know I understand, if you don’t want to move past everything then I can’t stop you, but well, I miss you kid,” Joel could feel the way his throat was closing, choking up slightly.
Ellie threw herself out of the chair, wrapping her arms around him as he embraced her in a tight bear hug, ignoring his still healing side. It would never erase what Joel had done, or that he’d lied to her for over two years, but he wanted to work on it all.
“Tommy’s sending me out on another supply run, we won’t be as far away but I’ll be gone for a little bit,” Ellie knew Joel would worry like a mother hen, it was simply in his nature.
“Thank you for telling me,” Joel squeezed her a little bit tighter, smiling to himself.
They were going to work on their relationship one day at a time, and eventually things wouldn’t be so tense, right?
◤──•~❉᯽❉~•──◥
Ellie had been gone for a little over two weeks when the incident happened. Joel had seen everyone off, telling Ellie and Jesse to be on watch whenever they were out in the open with no easy places to hide. Ellie had promised to keep an eye on everyone and make sure no one got the upper hand. It warmed his heart how much she truly listened to him, even if he hadn’t listened to himself at times.
He’d gone to the tipsy bison to grab some dinner and a drink with Tommy so they could catch up while you and Maria were with the baby. It didn’t matter how old she was, Joel would always refer to his niece as a little baby.
“I heard you and Ellie finally made up, took you long enough,” Tommy snickered, his hair graying more on the sides as he stared at his older brother.
“We sat down and had a conversation about everything, it was a long time coming,” Joel knew he played a big part in why they’d stopped speaking, and as much as he wanted to apologize prior, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“Well I think it’s great, you two were as thick as thieves before it all went down,” Tommy finished off the last of his burger, groaning as he leaned back in his seat.
Joel chuckled as he watched Tommy unbuckle his belt, he couldn’t count on one hand the amount of times he’d had to do the same whenever you cooked for him.
“We’re still working on things, but for now it’s all good,” Joel wiped his hands off before grabbing for his whiskey.
He’d be working off the carbs tomorrow during his usual shift, but for right now he was simply enjoying the meal and conversation. Maybe he’d surprise you during your own shift and take you over for lunch, that’d be fun.
“I’m gonna get back and grab the wife, I’ve gotta get up early to help with the horses tomorrow,” Joel was thankful they stopped sending him on patrols, moreso because he wanted to be around for you more.
“Tell Maria I’ll be back in a few, gonna stop by the woodmaker and see how Emily’s new bed frame is coming along,” Joel nodded to his brother before heading out.
The air was crisp and colder than he’d been expecting, even if it was in the dead of winter Joel still preferred the warmth of the summer. He could barely hear the sounds of his own boots as he made the way to Tommy and Maria’s house. It was close to where you and he were currently living which was nice. As he turned down to one of the side paths to the house an arm wrapped around his throat as someone kicked the backs of his knees until he was on the ground. The arm tightened before letting him go, watching as he slammed into the ground.
He lifted his head to see what the hell was going on before coming face to, well knee, with Seth. Shit, this was definitely going to end badly if Seth was coming after him where no one could see him.
“Thanks to you and your little cunt daughter I got put on shit duty,” Seth slammed the heel of his boot into Joel’s side, snickering as the sound of agony ripped from the older man’s throat.
“Deserve to rot in hell you fucking asshole,” The two other men took turns kicking into any space on Joel’s body they could reach.
Joel wasn’t surprised that Seth had been demoted, it happened to anyone that stepped out of line and went after someone in the commune. He held his arms over his head to try and protect himself, too weak to try and get up and fight off the attackers. The sickening crunch that echoed in the air caught Joel’s attention immediately. Blood filled his throat within seconds, cutting off any and all air flow he had.
“Hey! What the fuck are you doing?!” Tommy’s voice startled Seth who was ready to strike another nearly fatal blow.
“Go!” Seth turned and ran, leaving Joel’s battered body lying on the ground.
The other two men fled in different directions, too scared to be confronted by one of the “leaders” of Jackson. Joel couldn’t move, coughing blood onto the packed snow that laid beneath him. Wasn’t this just the sight to see, Joel Miller would meet his end because of some homophobic asshole.
“Shit! Someone get a doctor!” Now Tommy’s voice carried a lot of authority, and even if Joel would scoff that anyone would listen, right now he was thankful someone came to his aid.
Joel was losing consciousness slowly, eyes slipping closed as he accepted the fact he would most likely never wake up. The pain was unbearable, tearing apart his body as they got him to the infirmary as fast as they could manage. He was knocked out within minutes of arrival, the town's surgeon getting ready for what would be his riskiest procedure in years.
You had gotten worried as the minutes turned into hours, surely they wouldn’t get drunk when they were both due to be at the stables tomorrow. Maria was sitting with Emily, trying to help her eat the carrots she’d cooked. It warmed your heart to watch how much of an amazing mother that Maria was, and how caring she was. The door slammed open as Tommy ran inside, the front of his shirt covered in blood. He didn’t stop to answer any of Maria’s questions before he grabbed his gun and ran back out the door.
“You..you don’t think this has anything to do with Joel, right?” Your heart was racing, he had to be okay, he just had to be.
“I’m sure he’s okay, but if you want to go check I’ll make sure to hold down the fort,” Maria wouldn’t fault you for worrying about your husband, it was natural.
You nodded towards the other woman before fleeing the house, watching as Tommy gathered a group of people to “hunt down the bastards that hurt him”. It was, something had happened to Joel and you were just finding out. Tommy had realized you were outside, cursing to himself before walking towards you. It was as if your fight or flight kicked in as you bolted towards the infirmary, if Joel had been seriously injured this is where they’d take him.
Bursting through the door it took two different people to prevent you from finding where Joel had been taken. It was serious, if you weren’t allowed to be where he was then it was truly that serious.
“Please! What happened to him?” You were hysterical, tears sliding down your cheeks as you begged for any answer.
“It looks like he got jumped, they managed to break one of his ribs which punctured his lung, they’re doing everything they can to make sure that he’ll be okay,” You knew exactly who’d done this to him.
It was no surprise that Joel had enemies inside and outside of Jackson, no one was ever innocent in this world. Hopefully they’d find Seth and whoever else was with him and get rid of them before they could harm anyone else.
“Can I wait until he’s done? Please?” You were desperate, hoping by the grace of whoever was listening that Joel would pull through.
“Yes, someone will get you when he’s stable in a room,” The nurse patted your shoulder gently before heading back to where she was needed.
It was a painful reminder of where you were just a few short weeks prior. What would Ellie say when she got back with everyone? God, could you even handle being face to face with her knowing it was because of Seth that he was hurt again? No, there was no time to let yourself spiral while your husband was struggling to survive just a few doors down.
“Where is he?!” Ellie burst through the doors, sweat dripping down the sides of her face as she locked eyes with you.
“He’s in surgery right now, Tommy already has a group looking for the guys that assaulted him,” You hadn’t stopped crying, lip quivering as you looked back at the door that separated you and your husband.
“I knew I shouldn’t have gone on that supply run, goddamnit!” Ellie was angry with herself, had she stayed behind this wouldn’t have happened.
You stood up and gently shushed the girl before pulling her into a tight embrace. It would never be Ellie’s fault that Seth was a bigot, there was nothing she could do to change his mind. The only sounds heard were your stuttered breathing and Ellie’s deep breaths. You hadn’t been aware of the two people standing in the doorway, too busy in your sorrow.
“Oh, I forgot to mention we ran into some people during the run,” Ellie pulled away from you, wiping at her eyes before she turned to face the two newcomers.
The woman looked nervous, watching the way you stood close to Ellie, the younger boy was hiding behind the woman. It would’ve been ironic had you not been worrying about Joel at that moment.
“I’m so sorry, it’s nice to meet you both,” You chuckled as you wiped away the tears, knowing you didn’t look presentable.
“Nice to meet you, Ellie actually saved us from a pack of clickers,” The girl seemed shy, though it was surprising with her stature.
“That’s because Ellie knows good people when she sees them,” You wrapped an arm around her shoulders, smiling when she leaned into you.
Tonight would be a lot more stressful knowing that Ellie was back and would also be worrying about how Joel was doing.
“Why don’t you take them over to get something to eat? Joel won’t be able to have any visitors for a while anyway,” You didn’t want to rush Ellie and the newcomers out by any means, but right now you needed to be alone with your thoughts.
“Sure, I’ll bring you something so you aren’t hungry later,” Ellie left before you could protest, the two strangers following behind her.
You plopped down in the chair you’d been occupying before, begging for anyone that was listening for Joel to pull through. It didn’t matter if he couldn’t work for two months, you’d handle everything and deal with all the annoying shit that came with it.
It was nearing four in the morning when one of the nurses came to let you know that Joel was stable and asleep in one of the rooms. You’d nearly burst into tears once more before heading off to find your husband. Joel was sleeping peacefully under the ivory sheet. There was a bag of saline hanging beside his bed, his skin paler than what you’d like to see. It looked like they cleaned him up before putting him into the room. Shit, did that mean they’d had to throw out his coat? Wow, worrying over something as trivial as a coat while your husband nearly died, real classy.
“Hi sweetheart, I’m so sorry this happened,” You bit your lip to help prevent the tears, sliding your hand into Joel’s.
His skin was warm, the calloused fingers you’d come to know and love a reminder that Joel was still here, he was still alive. The only thing that mattered in that very moment was knowing whether or not Seth got the punishment he deserved. Ellie would make sure of it if Tommy didn’t, you had no doubts. Things would go back to normal, and Joel would be back home where it was safe. Maybe you could invite the newcomers to have dinner and meet them in a more formal place.
This was a nightmare.

abby would be a liar if she claimed she hadn’t noticed you since the beginning of her freshman year of collage.
you were always at her practice games as well as her final ones— not because you were there to see her, but because you were a cheerleader cheering her team on.
something about you was alluring, pulling in and attracting her like a moth to a flame, an itching in her skin to try and speak with you.
although she was big and strong, she had a soft interior— and was a nervous girl at heart. that’s the main reason why she couldn’t find the strength to speak with you, let alone ask you out. she’d watch you laugh with the other girls apart of your squad, smile tracing every beautiful feature on your face. the way you moved your body to the song and how you never seemed to mess up put abby in a mesmerized set of mind— not to mention when you do a flip and she catches sight of under your little blue and white skirt.
abby always found herself looking for you in crowds, hoping to steal a glance before a class assembly, before a game or even before school ends. You stick out like a sore thumb to her, your beauty unmatched.
you also kept an eye out for the muscular blonde, but she didn’t know that. Abby Anderson, a big name at your school— one of the best, if not the best, basketball players at your school. She was tall and blonde, her smile was wide and welcoming. she peaked your curiosity, wondering who this big blonde girl really was.
you haven’t ever really spoken to abby— you’ve never spoken to her, period. Only seeing her at her practices, or during class assemblies, or maybe as school is ending, but rarely any other time.
something inside you twisted in an unfamiliar way when you catch her looking at you, her piercing light ocean blue eyes staring straight at you from either the basketball court or from across a crowd, her eyes were on you more often than you’d admit to. The first few times you noticed, you’d blamed it on your silly imagination.
the best player eyeing you down, please. that’s what you’d told yourself— but now, after catching her shamelessly staring more times than you can count to even the point where your friends had noticed— you believe you aren’t imagining it.
but, who knows. maybe she thinks your skirt is too short, your hair isn’t tied up enough, you weren’t thin enough to cheer for her team— maybe abby didn’t like you. You didn’t know, and you were too afraid to find out.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
you huffed, jumping up and down on your heels lightly. Your friends and squad chattered around the locker room, fixing their makeup and readjusting their uniforms for the upcoming match.
Your schools basketball team was going up against a known enemy school, it was a big match they’ve been training for. You yourself had also been mentally preparing, making sure all the stunts were properly coordinated to the music and the reasonable timing of the matches.
“calm down, Y/n. its gonna be okay!” your friend, Dina, comforted, taking a sip of her gatorade. “i know, i know but.. what if we mess up? i mean, we hate wyoming high. they’re so.. mean.” you worried, face losing color upon the thought of falling.
dina scoffed, bumping her shoulder against yours. “really? mess up? you? n/n, when have you ever messed up? you are the reason we’re all so good at doing this thing. you’re a natural.” Her words comforted you to a limit, easing the discomfort in your shoulders.
“thanks, D, but.. i dunno.” you whispered, sweat dripping down your back. The buzzer for your cheers squad to enter the court rang loudly, causing everyone in the room to speed up their actions and quickly run out of the room.
You followed after, walking beside your two chatting friends. You knew, deep down, at you weren’t scared of failing. fuck, even you’d admit you were good, but something about abby being on the court (maybe) watching you.. it made you nervous. your squad walked out of the building, smiling wildly and holding their arms up to the crowd. You did the same, momentarily forgetting about the certain blonde and remembering how much you loved cheer.
“okay girls, ready?” your captain asked, hee smile wide. You all agreed, rushing onto the field and beginning your first work.
abby bounced her knee nervously, fiddling with the hem of her shorts. She’d usually be hyped for a game— but with this team, she was beyond nervous. they were, to her defeat, great. Your school hated Wyoming high because they are a bunch of two-faced suck ups, bratty sorority girls and stupid frat boys lacing the schools halls with their expensive cologne and perfume— the worst part was, with their reputation, they had the reason to be so stuck up.
and that’s why abby wanted to crush them.
yet, the swarming of nervous butterflies were being caused by a certain someone. You. what if she lost and you thought she was lame? that she couldn’t do anything? what if you, like, leave the schools cheer team because the basketball team is so lame?
her unreasonable thoughts were drown out by the bell, the second ring meant it was time for her team to flood into the court.
Abby stood up. quickly flexing her fingers nervously before smiling at her teammates, earning light punches on the shoulder accompanied by reassuring words. she bounced on her heels, shaking her arms and her head, turning to the door and proceeding outwards.
the song that she’d seen you rehearse to many times was playing on the loud speaker, cheers from the crowd encouraging you and your squad to keep it up.
Even though abby’s team wasn’t heading in your direction, couldn’t help but want to steal a glance at you for good luck before the game.
you were being held up by the other girls, a nervous yet confident look on your face as they prepared to throw you up— abby watched in awe as she saw you do a twist in the air before being caught by your teen and quickly moving to the next positions.
she was amazed by how you could do stuff mid air, how you could carry your body weight and others body weight so effortlessly.
“anderson!” her coach shouted, snapping her from her daze and soothing her back to the reality. She jogged over, braid swinging with her movements.
“You ready?” abby nodded at the question, cracking her neck side to side. The other players were huddled up on the other side of the court, narcissistic smirks playing on their lips while they talked to eachother, occasionally glancing up towards abby’s team.
the way they wore those smirks made her want to crush them even more than she already wanted to, clenching her jaw harshly.
her teammates began to flood her vison as the huddled up as well, two of her friends hands on either of her shoulders to form a circle.
she had hoped the bitter sweet taste of victory on her tongue was foreshadowing.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
you sat at the edge of your seat, your lip being gnawed on viciously.
the game was 20 to 19. your schools team had 20, and wyoming high had 19. you needed 21 points to win a game which meant it was so close to the end you could crap your underwear. if they missed the shot two times and the second game got them… it’s over.
dina had her eyes dead focused on the players, and you could see her phone exploding with notifications from her girlfriend, ellie, about what the fuck she was doing and why she wasn’t sitting with her somewhere in the crowd, which dina was deliberately ignoring.
your heart did an unfamiliar flip when abby caught the ball, dodging players from Wyoming High and dribbling it down. You and dina quickly shared a glance, hands coming together to tightly hold each other for the suspense of the game.
she squeezed your hand, both your eyes locked to the buff blonde when she did her familiar big footed leap— large hands launching the ball.
it was almost as if it was in slow motion— dina’s gasp, abby’s arms throwing themselves up, the ball circling the hoop for an excruciating five seconds— before falling directly through. Abby’s feet slammed down to the court, the buzzer ringing loudly signifying the winning team.
it was silent for a moment before the crown went wild. you and dina jumped up and threw each other around, screaming and smiling at the much overdue victory.
Abby was smiling, too. her teammates surrounded her with wide grins, hugs and excited pats on the back.
your squad members were also freaking out, calling loudly to abby— catching her attention. they were congratulating her, and when you looked over to her you were surprised to see her eyes locked on you.
You smiled wildly, excitement obvious on your face. She sent a big grin back, a small cloud of pink flush dusting her cheeks before she turned back to the people crowding her.
“dinners on me!” you heard her coach yell, “and you girls join us!” she looked to your squad, earning the girls to only get louder with excitement.
“holy shit, y/n! we beat wyoming highs team and we get free dinner with the basketball girls? it’s heaven!!” Dina exclaimed excitedly, jumping up and down with your hands intertwined with hers.
You nodded vigorously, smiling so widely you could barley speak words.
you looked back over to abby, the smile on her face wider than you’ve ever seen it, eyes looking between all the people surrounding her before fighting their way through the crowd to once again find you.
you were surprised she continued to look at you after victory, but, no matter such, it sent your heart into a fit of childish feelings; tummy doing flips.
she sent you a nervous smile at being caught, quickly looking away with the same blush. you smiled softly, turning back to dina.

“is this okay?” you asked, standing in front of your rooms big mirror, smoothing out the top of your burgundy dress.
Dina and Your other close friend, Yara, we’re currently sitting beside eachother on your bed, waiting for you to finish getting ready so you three could head out to the planned dinner from coach Marlene.
“y/n, for the tenth time, it looks stunning. why are you freaking out, anyways? its just—” dina cut herself off, eyes widening for a split moment before the biggest smirk you’ve ever seen placed itself on her lips.
“ahh.. I get it.” Dina said smugly. Yara turned to her, a confused look on her face. “get what?”
dina sent you a squinted eye look, leaning over to yara’s ear to whisper. You saw her eyes widen, a small smile playing on her own lips. “what is it, guys? do i look like a grandma? what?” you asked, frowning worriedly.
Dina rolled her eyes. “No, Y/n, you don’t look like a grandma. we’re talking about your..” she dragged out the sentence, going silent and looking to yara before deciding to slickly continue.
“absolutely massive crush on abby anderson.” you gaped, face shooting into the red shade of a tomato.
“what?! I dont like her. she’s just.. shes not my.. type.”
“oh, please! she is exactly your type. we aren’t stupid, y/n. right, yara?”
“yeah. we see the way you two look at eachother.”
your eyes shot to yara, widening. “huh?”
“abby is always looking at you. like, so often i’m surprised she isn’t cross eyed from it.” she says softly, smiling up at you. Dina nodded with her eyes closed; humming.
“mhm. truth on that.”
you were silent, looking into the mirror. no way.
“whatver, guys, haha. just shut up and let’s go.” you huffed, rolling your eyes as dina groaned out a “ugh, finally!” before jumping off your bed alongside yara.
Dina was wearing a cute but simple orange dress, her hair up in a nicely done ponytail. Yara went with a nice shirt and some jeans, her hair in its usual pinned up braids. you had, grudgingly, decided on a simple but sweet burgundy dress. deciding to leave your hair down, with the exception of the two small braids Yara had insisted on doing for you.
“i’ll drive.” you said, pulling out your keys before dina snatched them suddenly. “nuh-uh. no love fools behind the wheel tonight.” she announced, sending yara a proud smile.
“ugh! dina, i’m not— whatever.”
you three took the elevator down, going to the parking lot and standing outside of your car. “hurry up.” dina demanded, opening the car door and preparing to sit down in the drivers seat before you interjected. “wait! yaryar should drive.”
“why?” yara spoke up. “because you, my dear, are the only not “love fool” in the car today.” you hit back, knowing she intact was having an underline, silent argument currently going on with her girlfriend.
dina glared at you, handing yara the keys. You all got in the car, smoothly (and much more safely) driving off.
˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
the restaurant was packed, you and your friends tried to squeeze through the line to get to your already reserved seating.
“why the fuck is everybody here on a wednesday night?” dina complained, furrowing her brows as you three pushed through people. “Because it’s a nicer restaurant and rich old people don’t usually have jobs.” yara replied casually, looking between you and dina.
“let’s just focus on trying to get through the rich people,” you sigh, finally seeing the table with familiar faces.
Coach Marlene was sitting down, glasses on her face as she swiped on her phone. Abby and Nora, along with other basketball team members, sat down at the table chatting.
a sudden drop in your tummy caused your throat to dry up. If you weren’t nervous before, you sure are now. “gosh, are we late?” yara whispered, eyes widening. “nah, we aren’t. The invitation said 5:30, and its 5:35 so we’re on time. everyone else is early.” she replied, cocking her head.
“fuck. i wanted to be early. why does everyone on the basketball team have such good time management?” you grumbled, tucking your hair behind your ears and glancing back to your friends. “ready?”
you three made the final push through the crowd and revealed yourself, catching the eye of the players at the table.
Coach marlene snapped her head up, eyes landing you instantly.
“ah! Y/n, dina, yara. no surprise it’s you three who came separately.” She teased, smiling. Your face flushed, trying to ignore the eyes of abby and her friends on you.
“yeah. nice to see people already here.” you glanced down, catching abby’s lurking eyes before she snapped them away and moved her head.
“Yeah. these girls all arrived at exactly 5:30. surprised me.” marlene replied, motioning her hands to the seats. “come sit down.”
you obeyed, dina and yara close behind as you three took the open chairs. the two snagged the ones closest by the end of the table, leaving you to claim the one directly beside Abby Anderson.
you sat down, sliding your hand from your lower back to under your knees to keep your dress down.
you felt abby’s eyes lingering on you as you did so, swallowing so loudly you could hear it.
you shuffled a little uncomfortably, glancing to Yara and Dina who were snacking viciously on the bread on the table. you inhaled, slowly turing towards the large blonde beside you.
“Hi, I’m y/n. I dunno if you know who i am but— uh, i know you.” fuck. what was that? you internally beat yourself up, watching nervously as abby stiffened, sweat building rapidly on her forehead as she turned to look at you.
she nodded quickly, “i- erm— know who you are. You’re.. really talented at cheerleading.” she complimented, her voice cracking up. Your cheeks flushed dramatically, darting your eyes away.
“pfft— says you. you are like, the god at basketball. i’ve never seen someone play better than you.” she bashfully looked away, her own cheeks blossoming with the cherry shade of blush.
“thanks.” you pursed your lips nervously, turning towards your friends.
dina had a while breadstick down her throat as yara watched, eye wide.
“what the hell.” you whispered, embarrassed.
dina turned to you, a smug look on her face beside the bread halfway down her throat, she spoke. “hittin’ it up over there, hm?” your face blew into thousands of shades of red, catching onto her teasing and praying Abby hadn’t hurt her.
“dina!” yara gasped, hiding her laugh. you rolled your eyes, trying to play it off and shifting away to stare ahead of you.
abby kept moving beside you, seemingly not quite knowing where to place her hands; her things, her knees, the table— you kept glancing in her direction each time she’d uncomfortably shift. your eyes eventually trailed up to her shirt— it was a silly one. a massive star wars meme on the black background.
“i like your shirt. I love star wars.” you said, catching her attention when she whipped her head to you. “you do?”
“yeah. I like the clone wars, so your shirt is funny.”
it was meme of darth maul and obi wan, how he came back and obi wan was sloppy. You could feel her eyes on you, staring into your skull as if processing your words. “really?”
“yup.” silence followed, awkwardness flooding the air. “uh.. what other shoes do you watch?”
“er-- i like arcane and uh.. i dunno just, animated shows, mostly. But shameless and game of thrones are good..”
you instantly turned to her. “game of thrones and shameless? I love those two.” you exclaimed, smiling. Abby’s eyes widened as you shifted in your chair to fully face her.
“have you finished both of them.”
“y-yeah.”
“who’s your favorite character in game of thrones?” you asked urgently, watching closely at the sweat that fell from her head.
“i like Daenerys and jon mostly—”
“no shit! me too.” you interrupted, quickly covering your mouth. “oh! i’m sorry for interrupting. i just.. i’m a big fan.” you sheepishly said. you missed the way her blue eyes softened.
“That’s okay! I- I really like game of thrones too. if you wanna talk about it..” your eyes practically glistened at her words.
“are you sure? i don’t wanna, like, geek out on you and kinda.. chase you away.” you said, eyebrow raising. Abby shook her head, “no! i would like to talk about it. none of my friends have seen it so.. it’d be a nice conversation.”
“i agree! Dina and Yara haven’t seen it, either. they say it’s too dark, and how i have a weird taste in shows but i keep telling them it’s really not that bad.”
abby smiled down at you, cheeks creasing. “right? they think it’s way worse than it actually is. I think maybe because it’s been on the internet and people label it more dark of a show then it is.”
“yes! gosh, you get it.”
you and abby had conversed over the whole dinner about shows and books you both like; she said she was a big fan of “they both die at the end.” which, to her surprise, you’ve also read.
you two ended up sharing food off each others plates while you and the others around you ate, dina and yara continuously sending you mischievous glances and smug looks— of to which you ignored.
time flew by so fast you hadn’t realized it was 8 on until your nighttime alarm went off, catching your attention.
“its already 8? it feels like it’s still 5.” you laughed, causing abby to smile.
“Yeah, it does.” You hadn’t realized that a few of your squad members and Abby’s team members had left until you looked across the table.
“well, i should, um, probably start to head out. I have to get up at like 5 tomorrow.” you frowned, folding up your napkin and showing dina and yara your phone— which urged them to rapidly wipe their messy faces and stand up.
“thanks for talking with me, abigail, i really appreciate it. i had a total blast.” you admitted, cheeks rosy. “you’re really fun to talk to.”
“thanks, you too..” her face was red, eyes much more blue than you recall as she stare into yours. “a-and you can call me abby. Just abby is fine.” She said suddenly, earning a grin from you.
“okay, Abby. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?” you asked, she nodded.
you bid farewell to the coach and the others girls at the table, rushing off when dina and yara grabbed each side of your arms to pull you away.
Abby’s eyes trailed after you, only looking away when Nora punched her shoulder.
“ow! what was that for?”
“you idiot! go get her number!” Nora exclaimed, jerking her head in your direction. “what?”
“Go get her number! she was literally geeking out to you all dinner. You two were so annoying and clicked perfectly. if you don’t chase after her, I’m going to purposely start losing games.” Nora’s words made abby’s heart beat fast, besides the losing part.
“no! we just were taking about an underrated show.”
“yeah, for three hours! Go! go!” nora pushed abby off her chair, the girl gripping the table before subconsciously obeying her bossy friend and tracking you down through the restaurant.
you’d just walked through the doors— abby close on your trail.
“shut up, D. i swear, i’m gonna—”
“Y/n!” abby’s voice caught you and your friends by surprise, all three of your whipping your heads to the flushed blonde.
she timidly approached you, her eyes shooting nervously between Yara and dina who hung on your left and right arms.
“let’s scram, yara.” dina quickly said, letting you go and taking yaras hand before running to your car, leaving you to glare after her before turning back to abby.
“yeah?” you smiled shyly, eyes watching as she fiddled with her ohoen.
“um— i was wondering if i could get your.. uh.. your number? its okay if not, i just thought since—”
“sure!” you chirped, quickly stretching out your hand to retrieve her phone. She looked at your for a few moment before her un familiar phone case landed in your palm.
You went to messages and put in your number, editing the contact to ‘y/n 🐉’ and handing it back to her.
You heard dina yell dramatically, making you aware she was ready to go. “sorry about her— uh— text me!” you quickly said, patting her bicep and speed walking back to the whining dina.
“get your fingers off my windshield!” abby heard you shout, watching as you pushed dina off the car, Yara laughing.
heat flooded her face upon realizing she had your number.
After three years of her admiration, your contact was in her phone.
