It’s not a secret anymore, your engagement with Veritas is widely spread throughout the Intelegensia Guild, even the Genius Society heard about the news, how can it not spread ?. You’re both highly respected scholars although both have different approaches to teaching you both still excel in your respective fields. However, no one knows that this arrangement of yours is out of convenience, but you and he agreed that it’ll be mutually beneficial if you both marry
“Let’s marry, I know well that this proposal lacks romance since I’m not marrying for love it’s just I’m quite tired of people pestering about my personal life and it seems you too are tired of people pursuing you, even if it is a loveless marriage I would take care of you and be loyal to you till the end of my breath, so please do think about my proposal because to be frank I can’t seem to imagine spending the rest of my life with someone else,”
That was what he said while you were in the middle of discussing a project with him, the sudden proposal shocked you of course but after mulling it for a week you decided to agree with his proposal, you weren’t expecting a ring but he did give you one, surprisingly it first your ring finger perfectly
You know very well that love is out of the equation in this future marriage of yours, Veritas never seemed to be interested in pursuing love and you respected that but now it seems like you’ve been craving more than you signed up for, it’s started when he first asks you to live with him, it was shocking of course but you’re going to be his wife anyways so why not start early to assimilate to the new environment and dynamic
Things start to go downhill from there since he does these little things. For example, all of the cutlery, knives, plates, and spices were high up on the shelves when you first moved in. He noticed that you struggled grabbing simple things from the shelves, hence he redesigned his whole kitchen to make things more accessible to you
Well the other thing that made you develop feelings for him is your sleeping arrangements, he made you a room inside of his house fully furnished with your favourite books and even your own office inside, the room is hand painted beautifully with your favourite colour when you ask who decorated the room he bashfully replied that all of the things inside your room is fully constructed and decorated by him, is this a loveless marriage you keep pondering over and over as you lay your restless body on the couch
Veritas promised you that he would come home early today to help you with your dissertation, but it seems he’ll be late again. You can’t help but wonder if he has someone out there, but it can’t be he told you himself he would be loyal to you, but you can’t seem to dismiss such a thought
You knew what you signed up for but you still can’t help but fall for him, how naive. Your eyes crystallised as you tried to conceal your feelings, the warmth of your cardigan couldn’t help to warm the loneliness you’ve been feeling, if Veritas was here he would laugh at you, you thought to yourself
You fell asleep on the couch, tired from the stress of your upcoming dissertation. It seems that when you’re already blissfully unaware of the real dimension Veritas comes home. He calls your name to no avail only to see you sleeping soundly on the couch, your cheeks wet from the tears you shed, it tugs a string on his chest as he examines you curled up all by yourself to produce some kind of warmth
Without much thought he quickly took off his coat and put his briefcase on the coffee table in front of you, he sat beside your head before slowly lifting it and resting it upon his thighs. He had always hated to admit his feelings towards you, he thought it was a weakness for him to have, but he has always liked you
He finds it hard to express himself and find it harder to acknowledge that he wants more than this loveless marriage, he was too afraid that you’re not keen towards the idea of loving someone with his track record, and he certainly does not have the best qualities to possess as a husband, yet he would try to become better to make you happy
But it seems he fails to do so, he silently gazes upon your expression, his thumb wipes away the tear stain of your soft skin, he can’t help but question himself, if you wake up would you hate him for this ?
He quietly sighs as he drags his coat and covers your body with it, his hand brushes through your hair softly while grabbing your dissertation off the table, he feels worse than before seeing that you prepared a hot drink and snacks for him before you accidentally fell asleep
So the least that he could do is to let you rest while he reads the contents of your dissertation, your hair feels soft so soft that he can’t seem to focus on your dissertation without petting it
Reading your dissertation is like reading what’s inside of your captivating mind he loves so much, he can’t help but feel lucky that you’ll have his last name soon, that he could flaunt you as a partner as someone equal in future events because he truly thinks that you are his other half
You both have disagreements on certain things yet somehow complement each other so beautifully that he can’t help but feel like he was made to be yours, feeling your skin against his palm as he cups your cheek further proves his hypothesis that his hands are made to hold you, love you, worship you
But his foolish ego seems to restrict him from such necessities, his inability to profess his love verbally would cost him you sooner or later, he just hopes that you could feel how he cares
He never explicitly told you about his adoration for you, yet he’s willing to show you instead hoping one day you’ll see how badly he has fallen for you
He kept lightly tracing your cheeks as he continued to read your dissertation, that’s when you flutter your eyes open, feeling ticklish from the light touch, “Veritas ?,
“Yes dearest ?,” once your eyes meet with his, he knows very well that’s the moment the walls he built and the ego he has dissipate into thin air

hello! i've struggled with writer's block for so long that i've forgotten how to write something that i genuinely like... recently i've been trying to go back, but given my current schedule and me being in med school, it's impossible for me to sit down and just ... write but do you have any tips how i can slowly ease myself back into writing? thanks so much 🥹🙏🏼
Slowly Easing Back Into Writing (w/ a Busy Schedule)
1 - For Now, Write for Fun and Relaxation - When you're neck deep in work, school, parenting, caregiving, or any other of life's big commitments, you may want to go the low pressure route with writing and let it be an outlet for fun and relaxation. This gives you carte blanche to write when, what, and how much you want without having to worry about any sort of "progress." And the beauty is, whether you write five words a day or five-hundred, you are still "making progress" in terms of honing your writing skills and adding to a body of work. You just don't have to be focused on that for now.
2 - Meet Yourself Where You're At - Even when you give yourself permission to write for fun, you may still find yourself wanting to create goals, a writing routine, and a writing schedule... and that's fine, just be sure to meet yourself where you're at when creating these things. In other words, be honest with yourself about things like available writing time, energy requirements, potential distractions, steady commitments, and other potential challenges to meeting goals and sticking with a routine/schedule. Be flexible. Have reasonable expectations. And give yourself grace when things don't go as planned.
3 - Go For the "Low Hanging Fruit" - Getting back into writing doesn't have to mean pursuing big writing projects, and it honestly probably shouldn't when you have other big things going on that need to take priority. Luckily, there's a lot of "low hanging fruit" you can go after to get your words in. Those will be different for everyone according to where you find inspiration and motivation, but some examples would be journaling about your day or dreams, writing reviews of books and movies, writing out your feelings about a particular current event or something unusual you experienced that day, flash fiction writing prompts, short poem, free writing, writing exercises, etc. In other words, things that allow you to write as much or as little as you want, and you can switch it up depending on how you're feeling.
4 - Spend Time Filling Your Creative Well - If you're limited on time and energy, don't underestimate the importance of using the free time you have to fill your creative well... read books/short stories/fan-fiction/magazines/news stories, listen to audibooks or podcasts, watch TV shows or movies, play video games, watch documentaries, learn about things that interest you, research your family tree... anything that puts stories and story elements into your head is going to help you be a better writer. And if that's all you have time to do right now, that's okay, too!
5 - Make It a "Whole Thing" - If circumstances permit, take whatever writing time you have each week or month and "make it a whole thing." Get yourself a nice/pretty/fun notebook and some nice and/or colorful pens. Create a writing playlist. Find a special place to write (it can change as needed) where you'll feel safe, comfortable, and will be relatively distraction free. Create a little writing routine for yourself, like drinking a certain beverage, starting by listening to a certain song, wearing a particular hat or comfy cardigan, eating a particular snack, putting on some mood lighting... whatever works. It could even be as simple as putting a particular object next to your keyboard like a pretty rock, a scented candle, a certain plushie... anything your mind can start to associate with "this is writing time" can help trigger things that will get you into writing mode when it's time.

Clumsy and frantic

“What were you THINKING, Y/N?? I- I told you not to go in there..! It- it’s dangerous and- and I can’t–” Harvey speaks frantically, practically stumbling over his words as he gently holds your face in his hands. His eyes were blown wide underneath his glasses as they rapidly dart across your face. Frowning as you lie in one of his hospital beds.
He wasn’t at all trying to be mean, he was just terrified for your safety. He was always hyper-conscious of other people’s health, but especially you. He was so overwhelmed with a mixture of anxiousness and exhaustion that his words left his mouth before he could grab ahold of them.
Truthfully, you were fine..at least, you felt so anyway. You had collapsed on your way back to your farm from Elliott’s shack on the beach, needing to deliver him something on Leah’s behalf. Only to be found by Linus shortly after and dragged down to the hospital before leaving again.
It was a little past two am, a few hours after his usual bedtime at ten. Upon seeing you get dragged in, he had no time at all to get properly dressed before his anxiety hit him like a Joja train. His hair was disheveled from its usual combed down state, similar to it’s unkempt state after a rough shift at the end of a long day. Wearing a white shirt with a small front pocket, underneath a long, forest green, wool cardigan. The fibers of the thick fabric frayed and standing up every which way. His legs only covered by his green, pinstripe briefs, yet he had hardly noticed. He was too worried about you to care about his own shame.
“I’m fine, Harvey.. Really..” You try to say, only for Harvey to shake his head quickly. Muttering nervous plans to himself as he steps away from you, his cardigan swaying behind him. His sleep addled brain pushing into overdrive to make sure you’re one hundred-ten percent okay.
His hands scanning over his cabinets before his eyes ever properly read anything. Knowing his place of work like the back of your hand, not his. He pulls out a large variety of items of which you’re unsure on how most of them are supposed to be used.
“What hurts?” Harvey asks, but it comes out as more of a concerned demand. Setting his various equipment down on a metal cart next to your bed. You can’t help but feel at least a little guilty for making him so worried, but at the end of the day, you knew it was probably inevitable. You have a small bruise on your shin after tripping over a shovel earlier and a sore spot on your head from hitting the ground.
Instead of responding, you carefully sit up and take both of his hands in your own. Your thumbs gently caressing over his knuckles as you look into his worried brown eyes. “Deep breath..” you say quietly, taking a few deep breaths yourself as an example. In through the nose, out through the mouth.
The Adam’s apple in Harvey’s throat bobbing as he swallows thickly with a slow nod, following your breathing pattern to calm his rapidly beating heart. His hands slowly tighten around yours as he sighs heavily. A sad smile crossing over his lips before he leans down and places a small kiss onto your forehead. The coarse hairs of his mustache tickling your skin, though you pay it no mind.
“Thank you, honey. I- I’m sorry.. I just– you scare me sometimes..” Harvey murmurs, pulling away to look down at you with the same concern. It’s obvious he’s still looking for any sort of damage he could fix.
“I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.” You whisper, pulling his hands to your lips and kissing the back of both, right on the knuckle of his middle fingers. Your eyes still up on his own as you shift on your hospital bed again, slinging your feet over the edge to put your muddy boots down on the clean floor. “I promise- I’m fine. Just a small headache is all”
Harvey nods slowly in acknowledgement, feeling his cheeks turn a rosy pink at your gentle treatment. Leaning down again to place a peck onto your lips before he parts from you once more. Calmer this time, he pulls his cart back over to his cabinets, putting away all of his unnecessary equipment he grabbed in his freakout.
“I’ll have to make sure you didn’t sustain a concussion with your fall, but otherwise, I can provide you an ice pack for any soreness. Anything else feel wrong? Headache, nauseous, confused…” He trails off, just giving examples on things you could be feeling. Finishing up putting away his supplies, he glances back over towards you, tugging his cardigan closed.
You slowly shake your head with a light chuckle. “No- no.. nothing like that.” you deny honestly, interlacing your fingers with one another and setting your hands in your lap. Your eyes practically glued to the doctor.
He heads right back to the side of your bed with a mere penlight in hand. Putting the tips of his middle and index fingers underneath your chin, he lifts your head up to be able to see you entirely. He takes in your features appreciatively for a long moment before snapping himself back into his work.
“Just a small light..” Harvey murmurs in clarification, showing you the penlight before clicking it on. You keep your eyes straight into his own to allow him to check up on you. He slowly brings the light to the edges of your eyes, watching the way your already dilated pupils expand and contract without issue.
While he doesn’t comment on it, he finds it incredibly adorable. The knowledge that oxytocin and dopamine are making your pupils expand when you see him makes his heart swell with affection. Clicking the penlight off and setting it into the front pocket of his plain, white shirt.
“You’re all good, honey. Do you want an ice pack?” Harvey asks gently, to which you shake your head, prompting more confusion from him. “Just another kiss from you.” you grin cheekily. Harvey feels his cheeks burn as he leans down and places another kiss onto your forehead.
“I feel better already.” you remark sarcastically, though there was a hint of truth in your words. Even without doing any sort of medical procedures, Harvey always manages to make you feel better, with the added trait of getting all giddy like a schoolgirl.
Harvey laughs softly as he carefully helps you up from your hospital bed, treating you as if you’re glass. “Then I suppose you’ll feel even better when we go upstairs.” he teases, knowing good and well he’s just going to bear hug you until the two of you fall asleep. He’d be crazy to send you home tonight.

1. Bang Chan
Writes a lot of songs about you
Will make physical contact, like putting his arm around your shoulders or his hand on your back
A gentleman; drives you home all the time and has you call him when you're safe inside
Very casual around you, but slowly develops deeper feelings
Asks you to hang out with him and his friends a lot
Very proud of you and wants to introduce you to everyone
Genuinely looks up to you and asks you for advice a lot
2. Lee Know
Teases you a lot but it's very flirty
If anyone tries to tease him about you though, he will give them the death glare
Will absolutely deny liking you if anyone asked
Texts you a lot
Remembers every single thing you tell him
Will not tolerate anyone who says a single unkind thing about you
Jealous when you talk to other guys
When you play with his cats, he will be chill on the outside but literally swooning inside
3. Changbin
The one who makes excuses to constantly see you
When you're around, he'll stretch his arms back so he can "accidentally" flex his muscles
So down bad for you and everyone knows- except for you, that is
Would keep a photo of you in his pocket and take it out randomly and smile at it
Acts tough but is really shy about how he feels
Wants to be around you always and invites you everywhere
Tells you to call him cute nicknames
4. Hyunjin
He'd write poems about you in his little journal
Would also sketch you when you aren't looking
Zones out a lot just thinking about you; a big daydreamer
Buys matching keychains for you both, but he's too shy to give it to you
Falls slowly but it's very intense, it might even be love
He'd be sleepless and a little tortured over you
Would have a collection of random things that remind him of you, like plushies or stickers
Makes playlists of songs that make him think about you
Unconsciously is inspired by you; for example, if you wear a cardigan one day, he'll wear one too the next day, without even realizing it
5. Han
Has a goofy smile on his face always
He would try to be suave and cool, but his heart flutters every time he encounters you, and he ends up getting tongue-tied
Would search for cheesy pick up lines on google
Would obsess over every small interaction with you
Lowkey would stalk you online just for "research"
Would not shut up about you to his friends
Would bring you snacks to share constantly and then eat like half of them because he's nervous around you
Makes scenarios about you both in his head before he falls asleep
6. Felix
Everyone ships you guys together
He always brushes the teasing off with a smile
Brings you sweet gifts like flowers and jewelry that reminds him of you
Brainstorms the perfect way to ask you out
Carries your bag for you even if it's not even heavy
Wants to know all about you and asks a lot of questions
Hanging out with him feels a lot like you're dating even if you're not because he is so attentive and sweet
7.  Seungmin
The one who wouldn't even know he has a crush on you
You couldn't guess that he likes you because he's very nonchalant
He likes to hang out with you and buy you coffee
His crush would manifest in acts of service
Notices every single thing; if you run out of gum, he'd go right away and buy a new pack for you, even if you didn't ask him to
When he eventually realizes his feelings, he will be honest with you about them
Very classic and classy; no drama
8.  I.N.
Straight up will tell you that he likes you and if you reject him, he will try to win you over
The flirty one who gets you flustered
Wants to wow you with his fashion and hotness
Would have a "boyfriend material" Pinterest board to inspire his outfits
Tries to meet your parents to impress you (and they end up loving him)
Drops natural pick-up lines that Han wishes he could serve
Super smooth; no nonsense

Hii, can you do headcanons for f!reader who is always "stealing" gwens clothes? Like for example the cardigan she had in the movie:))
(Of course I can! I hope you enjoy!)
Stealing Gwen's Clothes
Tumblr media
She did not notice you had taken her stuff the first couple…dozen times you did
She is spider woman, so she's always changing quickly and tossing clothes around whenever
So she obviously has lost a lot of clothing and didn't notice unless she remembered and was looking for it
Which was the case now
She had been looking for her cardigan, having taken it off quickly and forgotten where
And then she remembered she had to do a quick change at your place
So obviously, she hurried over to your place, sneaking in through the window
She was caught by you, obviously
She always snuck in through your window so it was something usual and you didn't bat an eye
She didn't notice at first so she was looking around your room after saying hi and kissing your cheek
She was so perplexed and getting frustrated herself before she went to ask if you had seen her cardigan
Only to see you were fucking wearing it
She had froze for a moment, utterly not knowing what to do
She just had to come out and say
"...is that my sweater?"
And you just blatantly admitted to it
She just stood there for a moment, feeling blood rush to her cheeks as she hid it, and played it off pretty well
She didn't take it back, didn't say much else
She was a bit more affectionate though, more cheek and lip kisses, a few touches and a hug or two
She would never admit it but she thought you looked pretty good in her clothes
She just didn't know how to express that as she is quite awkward so her go to attempt was affection
But she's not as good with that either so she's doing her best with small affectionate gestures
If you wear her clothes she leaves over, she purposely leaves over clothes she knows you like, and that she sorta wants to see you in, and just play it off when she sees you wearing them
She doesn't mind you stealing her clothes
As long as something doesn't get ruined
She teases and makes small little jokes though, little playful ones but it's because she's secretly happy inside
She has someone to steal her clothes, and she doesn't mind, so she thinks she won a jack pot

Finding Your Style, Part I: Shape & Silhouette
A deep dive into deciding on your own personal fashion and tailoring your clothes to fit.
Also on Patreon / / Also on Medium / / Leave a tip.
Introduction
Before I start with the actual meat of this piece, I want to establish what this series of guides is not going to be. These guides are going to be about building and cultivating your wardrobe and accessories for you and your preferences.
I have no interest in and will not be going into how to look good (or revoltingly, how to look “slimmer” or similar), how to be fashionable or trendy, or alternatively, how to look unique or dress differently to everybody you know.
I often get frustrated when pieces about cultivating one’s personal style stumble across my dashboards and they advise the reader to pay attention to the latest trends, to make a moodboard, cultivate a capsule wardrobe, and leave it at that — a moodboard can be helpful if you’re a visual thinker, and there’s nothing wrong with a capsule wardrobe as a tool, however.
I have a particular style of dress, I like to play around with a lot of colours and fabrics, a lot of patterns, and a lot of the people around me tell me I dress well and that they enjoy my style: I have never read a style guide that is envisioning a man who dresses like me, or even a man who dresses even close to the way I dress.
When I think of someone’s personal style, I’m talking about aspects of their appearance and the mode in which they clothe and carry themselves that are distinctive to them.
Firstly, this doesn’t mean that they dress uniquely, and like no other person around them.
I know guys who basically dress themselves to match mannequins in particular stores, and they look good for it — when I see them around, even if I haven’t seen those mannequins and don’t shop in the stores they shop from, what makes them distinctive is particular colour palettes, brands, and also a clean-cut, neat style that works really well on a shop mannequin. What they’re wearing obviously isn’t unique, but it is distinctive, and it is a particular visual I associate with them when I see them.
Secondly, when we think of distinctive qualities, I might associate them with a specific style that isn’t inspired by a high street store or particular fashionable brand — people who dress in vintage clothes and are always kind of ’90s or ’70s, or people who dress in lolita or goth or emo or cottagecore or identify with another subculture that has a particular visual signature.
Apart from fashion subcultures, there might be other aspects — yes, specific high street brands, but there are all kinds of other visual signatures like particular patterns (someone who always wears stripes, for example), other brands or media (e.g. someone who wears a lot of stuff printed with anime characters), particular places or hobbies, et cetera. I’m currently fleshing out my wardrobe and trying to find a lot more pieces that are nautical or sailing themed, so there are a lot of anchors, compasses, helm’s wheels, and ships incorporated into my wardrobe.
And thirdly — this is one thing I want to impress very firmly, because far too many pieces that focus on fashion don’t take this into account at all — one of the most distinctive qualities is how much I might recognise a friend’s specific needs for comfort in their style of dress.
I, for example, have a lot of cardigans, jumpers, woollen vests and waistcoats, etc, and in winter will often appear in multiple layers of wool underneath another layer of leather because I get cold so easily; even in summer, I’m often wearing a t-shirt under a collared shirt, sporting a cardigan, or even wearing three-piece suits. I know other people who basically from spring through to late autumn will only ever be wearing one layer, particularly just a t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt, because they overheat so easily.
This is going to be a series of pieces, and I want to focus on a handful of specific points to focus on in cultivating your wardrobe and accessories:
Part I: Shape and Silhouette
Part II: Fabrics and Materials
Part III: Colours and Patterns
Part IV: Garments and their Construction
Part V: Accessories and Details
Part VI: Eras & Epochs, Subcultures & Alternative Looks
Part VII: Thematic Cohesion
Part VIII: Editing and Adding to your Wardrobe
A lot of style guides are written with people in mind who are trying to look good at work, especially at office jobs, and subsequently they assume a certain level of conformity with business casual or other “acceptable” styles in mind, where standing out to any degree is considered in poor taste, but more importantly, where things like personal comfort aren’t taken into account.
Your personal comfort in the clothes you wear, whether that’s to do with your resting temperature, if you feel most comfortable in any specific fabrics or textures, if you feel comfortable under multiple layers or only one, how many pockets you have and how accessible those pockets are, how exposed or free certain parts of your body are, etc, is far more important than virtually any other aspect in selecting your wardrobe.
There are absolutely garments or styles where you might either enjoy the discomfort or think it’s worth withstanding for the visual effect, but that’s really up to you to decide, and anyone who says that you should be uncomfortable on your day-to-day, or that it’s normal and therefore desirable to feel uncomfortable in your own clothes, is a prick.
As a species, we wear clothes to keep our bodies warm and safe from harm, and while we might enjoy looking good or projecting a particular image, our comfort, safety, and our feeling of security in the clothes we’re wearing is no less vital.
Especially if you’re used to dressing in uncomfortable clothes, it can be hard to figure out what you actually do feel comfortable in, and that’s okay, that’s a process.
A lot of us have basically had it embedded into us, after years of conditioning, that there is only one way to dress, one way to exist, and that this is in-keeping with what’s Appropriate or what’s Pretty or in line with any other expectation, and unlearning that is hard, but it’s a process, and it’s possible to work through it.
Shapes & Silhouette
The first thing we often talk about when it comes to fashion, and the first thing a lot of clothes designers sketch out and visualise, is silhouette — if you find that hard to envisage, imagine yourself in whatever outfit is a favourite of yours, that you’re behind a canvas, and you’re being backlit from behind.
Your silhouette is the shadow cast by the shape of your body and your clothes — when someone first enters into a room, when we take in their outfit, we take in the broad strokes of it and the silhouette it casts, the shape of their body.
You might want to cast an initial impression that emphasises particular bodily qualities you’re proudest of, makes you seem taller or shorter than you are, slimmer or fatter, curvier or squarer, softer or more angular.
The problem with a lot of silhouette discussion is that many clothing designers abhor and loathe clothing anyone who isn’t a white, thin cisgender woman: imagining silhouette becomes about imagining a base body that serves as a mannequin and clothes that are draped on her, rather than about imagining a range of body types and different silhouettes that might go with them, complementing or contrasting the base body on which they’re built.
Subsequently, when people talk about clothing for fat people, particularly for fat women, a great deal of emphasis is placed on a silhouette that attempts to disguise or hide the body’s natural shape, whether that means making them seem nebulously slimmer by increasing their perceived height or by some other method, or increasing or decreasing their curviness.
The problem with that, apart from the fact that it relies on a vociferous hatred of fat people, of fat people’s bodies, of body fat in general, an odious bigotry in itself, is that a lot of the time, it doesn’t fucking work.
It’s instead people writing pages upon pages of advice on how to make yourself appear smaller and lesser, capitalising on people’s taught and conditioned self-loathing, and a lot of it is just clickbait. I’m by no means saying it would be ethical or correct if a lot of this advice did work, but the fact is that it doesn’t.
Someone might take your outfit with lots of layers and rounded shapes to it and assume you’re fatter than you in fact are, because multiple layers make you look larger — it could also be that simply wearing those soft fabrics make people think that you’re rounder, which they associate with fatness. In contrast, someone might take an outfit with lots of angles to mean that you’re bigger than you are because when we drape our body with angular clothes, they often work by sticking out from our body and creating corners where they don’t exist — but, people might associate that angularity with a lack of body fat, either with bones or with muscle, and therefore think you are bigger, but less fat.
We live in a fatphobic society where people make a lot of judgements based on how fat they perceive you as being. Because of the aforementioned fatphobic society, we also live in a society where people might associate you with fatness (or some other physical trait they consider negative) because they dislike you.
If you speak loudly or “a lot”, people might perceive you as being fatter than you are — if you barely speak, they might perceive you as being thinner, because you take up less apparent space, no matter what you wear or what shape you present.
There is no way to win, is my point.
You cannot win against bigotry in a fundamentally bigoted society by trying to change subtle perceptions of angle or size or light or shadow, and the people who say that you can are lying. The point of those lies is firstly to sell newspapers and screentime, but the second of them is to make the reader think that a bigoted society’s attitude toward them is their fault, because they weren’t employing enough tricks to deter the bigotry.
When I talk about the varieties of silhouette you might want to attain or aim for in your clothing choices, or how well-fitting or loose a garment might be for you, it should be in line with your preferences and your desires, whether that’s about aesthetic, comfort, or something else.

When envisioning your silhouette, the key points of your body might be:
your head
your shoulders
your waist and hips
your feet
This depends on your body shape and also on the sorts of outfits you’re wearing — it might change for you depending on the clothes you’re wearing on a given day, or you might cut a drastically different silhouette in boymode versus girlmode, or in summer versus winter, etc.
Think of these as anchor points on which your clothing or accessories are draped over or mounted from, almost like you might envision armour slots in a videogame. When you envision your silhouette, it’s how your body immediately appears when lit from behind — your legs and arms aren’t irrelevant here, and the shape of sleeves, trousers, and skirts will absolutely contribute to your silhouette, but depending on your body in motion or how you stand, these won’t always be immediately distinctive, whereas your head and torso will be.
As well as being the place where your clothes drape from, these might be the points where your most important accessories might be placed — headbands or hats, shoulder clasps or shawls or collar pins and such, belt buckles or suspender clips, and your shoes or boots. These points become the focus to which the eye is drawn because they’ll be the most static parts of the body, whereas other parts in between might jiggle or flow.
These points aren’t part of some sort of rule you have to follow — it’s more of a handy shorthand to help train your eye into seeing the particular shapes each part of someone’s body cuts, and what the overall effect is, and how much you like or dislike the effect.
You might feel that some of these anchor points, when emphasised or de-emphasised, add or take away from your dysphoria or your general self-esteem, make you feel more feminine or masculine, just look really fucking cool or really hot, etc. Think about those when you start sketching out your shapes in your head and what you like best.
When you really want to imagine a silhouette, do what I did with the first three images — there’s the outfit itself, I’ve drawn the anchors at the top of the head, the top of the shoulders, the waist, and then the feet. Contrast that silhouette with this image:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photo by Becerra Govea Photo via Pexels, with guidelines added by me.
This person has a different hair style, but see how with the shape of the dress, the waistline is drawn in compared to their shoulders, and would be even if they weren’t posed with their elbows outward? See how their waist appears to be smaller in contrast with the wide sweep of the thickly layered, loose skirts?
A useful exercise when thinking about a silhouette you like is to draw these anchor points and then either draw in lines following the outside of the body’s / clothing’s shape, or you can separate into each section and think about the simplest shape that silhouette can be boiled down to: a circle, a square, a triangle, a straight line.
In the two images I’ve indicated, I’ve focused on the waist as an anchor point because it’s the base of the suit jacket and then where this dress is drawn in — on your body, you might find that somewhere else on your pelvis is better for you to draw the line.
Have a look at this TikTok and look at all these bodies in motion, the clothes they’re wearing, how much skin is or isn’t being revealed, how loose or fixed each piece of clothing is, how much contrast is or isn’t present in the different shapes on show. Think about each different silhouette and how different or similar they are to one another.
(A TikTok of an NYFW fashion show in September from Remi Jo on TikTok.)
Look for the motion in these garments and in these people’s bodies — the parts that jiggle, that flow, that have free motion — and contrast them with the bits of their garments or bodies that remain more static. Many of these garments bare skin or flesh, and many of them cover a lot up, depending on the garment’s design — look at shoulder pieces, busts, waists, skirts, hemlines, sleeves. If a garment stands out to you as pleasing, cut it up in your mind and look at each piece of it individually before you consider the whole again, see what stands out most to you.
Generally, for modern men’s tailoring, the focus is often on the lower-slung hips rather than on the higher waist. If you’ve got a squarer body, your waist and hips might be the same or almost the same width, to the point you have no big distinguishing angle between the two points — you might want to think of your anchor point as at the base of your hips, in line with your backside; you might want to think of it as at the absolute high point of your waist if you tend to very high-waisted trousers or skirts.
If you’re fatter and have a significant overhang to your belly, depending on whether you like to wear your waistband underneath the overhang and have your belly rest on top / over it, or if you wear looser clothes or generally keep your belly within the waistband, for example under your dress or your skirt, this might change how you think about your silhouette too.
You might still be looking from the tops of your shoulders, but then the end of that “shape” might be in line with your backside or your upper thigh instead because that’s where you can see the lowest part of your belly in your trousers or leggings, or in a maxi dress, it might be a straight (or mostly straight) line from your shoulder down to your feet. Alternatively, rather than focusing on your hips or specifically where your waist is, you might like to make sure your middle point is at the widest point of your belly — if you’re wearing a belt, you might like the belt buckle to rest in the middle point there, or have the waistband of your skirt there so that you have the maximum flow to the skirt.
And remember, as I said about how the most key points might be different depending on what sort of outfit you’re wearing or what the occasion is, consider how much you’re going to be sitting down or from what angle you’re going to be viewed by others.
If you’re generally going to be sitting down while wearing a particular outfit, your midpoints at the waist might be less important to you than your shoulders and your feet — and if you’re going to be viewed significantly from above or below (for example, if you’re on stage or performing in a theatre), or from a further distance, this might make a difference to what key points you want to focus on.
If you use a wheelchair, depending on how big your wheelchair is compared to you in terms of its back and shape, you might like to take its angles and colours in complement to your outfit — if you use a cane or crutches, or if you wear a prosthetic limb for some events but not others, you might want to consider the asymmetry or the squarer shapes cut by your mobility aids.
Similarly, if you’re in costume and you’re wearing or using a really important prop like a stave or wand, some sort of weapon in the hand or slung on the belt or worn in some sort of other holster, you might want to employ similar complementary or perpendicular angles.
For example, if you’re wearing something that’s really angular and is going to make one shoulder, side of your head, or side of your waist/belly seem much higher than the other side, you might want to match that angular shift to the side you don’t have a limb or use a cane or have a prop to continue that exaggerated angle — you might want to make it go to the opposite way to offset the imbalance.
--
I’ve talked a lot above about how to observe and identify shapes and silhouettes in outfits you’re observing, but only a little bit about how to actually construct and cast them.
For a lot of people, the shadow cast by your head is going to be the same every day depending on your haircut or hairstyle: if you have shorter hair, you’re unlikely to change it much on the day to day in a way that will be noticeable at a glance.
If you do have longer hair or you change your style regularly, you can think about the shape that your head is casting in contrast to your outfit — if you alternate, for example, between having a big ‘fro and braids or twists that are much tighter to the head or are gathered at the back of your neck, those will be pretty dramatic differences to your silhouette; ditto if you go between different ponytails or braids and different up-dos, whether that’s a bun or gathered braid or similar.
If you wear hats and/or wear headscarves, those will make a big difference too — a beanie casts a very different shadow to a Panama hat, different again to a boater, a baseball cap, or a bandana.
A more structured hat or other garment for the head — a tiara or crown, for example, or more structured hair styles that come out from the head such as bantu knots or structured wigs and up-dos, will be more static; looser hats, scarves, and loose-worn hair will have more flow and wave when you move, and will stay in motion as you walk or even as you turn your head.
How visible do you want your neck to be? The lines of your jaw, your chin, your ears (and earrings), your brow, the nape of your neck? Do you enjoy the sensation of fabric or your own longer hair touching the tops of your shoulders, or being a weight on your back? Do you need the shade from your bangs or longer fringe, or that a structured hat will give you?
From your head we can jump to the broader part of your actual outfit or the garment that covers most of your body.
Your shoulders and your hips / waist / the widest point of your belly are where the garments you wear are going to rest — shirts, jackets, vests, coats, all of these are going to sit on your shoulders and either cling closely to your body or hang over it; loose fitting trousers and any sort of kilt or skirt are going to hang off your hips or the widest point of your middle.
Depending on your outfit and how your legs are clad, your feet might not actually be particularly noticeable — if you’re wearing shorts or anything with a shorter skirt, more attention is going to be drawn to the feet in contrast to your legs, ditto any sort of skinny trouser, legging, or tights. This goes especially for bigger boots, trainers/sneakers, and various heels.
MSCHF’s newest crowd pleaser, the Big Red Boot, is distinctive because the Big Red Boots are extremely shaped like boots, but not particularly like feet.
And after this point, you might have different points entirely that you construct away from your body — big earrings can be a point of interest; the hem of a shorter skirt, for example, might stop at your mid-thigh or knee, and that might be at an angle with your shoes; if you wear flared trousers like I tend to, you might create another point of contrast at your knee or at the mid calf.
Some points to consider are:
Which parts of your body or your shape do you enjoy most, want to most emphasise, or want to draw most attention to? Are there any parts of your body or your shape you feel less comfortable showing or emphasising, and would like to draw attention from?
Are there any silhouettes, for any gender, that you feel most drawn to and interested in? For example, do you particularly like the shape cut by certain styles of suits, robes, dresses, or other garments? What points do you like most, are most drawn to? What points are the same from outfit to outfit?
Think of cartoons and other animated series you like or have enjoyed, which normally have distinct styles and place emphasis on certain body parts or shapes for each characters. Do any particularly appeal to you? Do any characters look especially fun or cool compared to others, because of the style they’re drawn in or what garments or armour they’re drawn in? Cartoons will show an extreme, but they might help you visualise something you’re particularly drawn to because the extremity makes it so visible.
Apart from the shoulders, middle, head, and feet, do you want to create any further points of interest? Draw attention to your elbow or knees, dangling earrings, shift the silhouette of your feet by elevating your heel or sole?
Do you want your garments to hang from your body and be loose, or do you want them to be more tightly tailored? A garment that “hangs” will generally rest on your shoulders or around your middle and then be looser or boxier — a more fitted garment will hug tighter to the lines and curves of your body, and the extent to which will depend on the fabric weight and the construction of the garment.
How much is your silhouette different in motion, standing, seated, or otherwise? How much does it change with different mobility aids, or in different seats, while doing different activities?
And that’s it for that piece!
I am going to go through the other parts of this bit by bit — originally I was going to do this as one huge deep dive, but it just became untenable in terms of length. Let me know what you think, which bits are most helpful, and please feel free to mention anything you’d particularly want me to cover in the other pieces as I go through them.

This has been in our drafts for ages, but a recent poll we reblogged got us thinking about it again, so here's a tip for other systems (especially newly discovered systems) that we consider very helpful
Sometimes, being a system can feel dehumanizing or like you've lost control of your life. You have to share everything with the other people in your body – where's your privacy? Where's your individuality? What can you do to carve out something of your own in the world? These kinds of questions, even if said with other sentiments, can be a struggle to answer as a system.
However, my system – inspired by other systems we've seen doing this – have a solution! Or at least, part of one. You'll still likely have to go through some emotional work to answer the above questions and find what's most comfortable for you. But for us, when one of us is feeling insecure or needs some individuality, there's something simple we do...
... We give each other gifts!
Or, more accurately, we choose something we want or have to be a certain system member's possession. It could be a project, a shirt, a toy, whatever works for them! Then they get to establish rules about the other system members touching Their Thing™, and have the most important say in anything regarding it. This isn't to say that other members would necessarily never get to touch or use that thing again, but rather, that the system member who it belongs to would get to choose on what terms others are allowed to touch it, the same way you might set a rule with a roommate about touching your things.
For example, Chara's Thing™ is a green cardigan. When we're going somewhere and they're going to be fronting for at least a majority of the time, they decide if we're going to pack it, and if they want to leave it at home or wear it out on bad days when they could use the comfort. They're alright with the rest of us wearing it if we want, but would prefer we be extra careful about not staining or losing it. If there was a situation where we'd have to negotiate on the cardigan, like if we needed space in a suitcase that the cardigan was taking up, we would have a discussion on how to compromise in the situation so that everyone is happy, such as what other things we could take out of the suitcase instead of the cardigan, or if we could wear the cardigan on our trip instead of packing it. Chara would get the final say in this discussion, but it's unlikely that we'd all end up unhappy.
We have other examples of this, too. Alterisa has a writing project she doesn't mind if we work on as long as we check with her before publishing, Kitten has a plushie she likes to bring when we travel, and Tempo's looking into getting a blue and green shirt to be more comfortable with our wardrobe. All of these things make them feel more secure in our system, and more comfortable with sharing most of our life since they always have something they can call their own.
If you're struggling with your individuality as part of a system, try starting with one small thing as your own! Choose something for yourself, establish some boundaries for others interacting with it, and enjoy having something to call your own. It doesn't have to be anything big – it could be as simple as a music playlist or a cool rock you found. Hang in there; life can be tough, but you can be tough, too.

how to romanticize your life - a series - post 2 - romanticizing school
soo many people see school as something to avoid, as a chore. but we as individuals have the power to change the way we view school. it's an opportunity for growth, discovery, and personal development. so without further ado: here are a couple tips to help you romanticize school!!
Tumblr media
have a positive mindset. in order to study effectively, you need to put aside the negative connotations you have with school and studying and replace them with positive connotations. write out a cons list and then counteract each negative with a positive. for example: con - school is very time consuming | pro - it teaches you time management skills.
create a peaceful and cozy school morning routine. drink some water, watch something funny, use the bathroom, brush your teeth, do your makeup, listen to some nice music, pick out a cute outfit, do your hair, have some matcha.
i also like to say affirmations in the mornings like "i love school" or "i'm amazing at school" to help get me into that positive mindset i was talking about earlier.
make a to-do list. part of romanticizing is not stressing. if you prepare for your day in advance, you can worry less and enjoy more.
really explore your school campus. find all the little nooks and crannys, and don't miss out on anything your school has to offer. for example, i found a little covered picnic table over by the greenhouses at my school that i love to sit at. cute places to study and hang out make school so much more enjoyable.
appreciate being a student. there is so much community and everyone is working toward to common goal to really figure out who they want to be and what they're going to do. it sounds dramatic, but it's true. so i advise you to embrace student life. attend events, plays, games, join clubs, and study with your friends. so go to that football game, participate in spirit days, and enjoy being a student to its fullest potential!
materials are also a huge part of school. you don't have to spend big bucks, but these are some basic things that have helped me:
-cute planners/notebooks, sticky notes -> for goals/organization, writing down something quick, although take physical notes as well!
-books -> gives you something to do, i like romance and educational books
-ipad -> helps with notes/studying, customize it to make it cute, add widgets, and keep in mind that it's all about the vibes
dress to impress. wear cute outfits. treat school as a fashion show. i know dressing up and feeling confident has really enhanced my school experience. some of my favorite things to wear are preppy cardigans, nice jeans, skirts, high knee boots, long sleeve turtlenecks, and just tons of cute tops. layering is very important to me as well. you can also add jewelry to help elevate your style a lil bit.
have a space that you dedicate to only studying. i have a desk in my room that i use, and it has improved my study habits, my grades, and my discipline. it makes studying/schoolwork so much more enjoyable. it always good to keep in mind that your environment impacts tons of other aspects of your life too. make your space your own and personalize it. some potential spots could also be coffee shops or the library, whatever works for you.
make a pinterest board to motivate yourself. this could include study-with-me's, study tips, just general inspiration, or things to do with your main area of study or your major if you're a uni student. this helps you think about "huh, that could be me".
bonus tips:
absorb study content/vlogs
have a good-vibes playlist
in case ya missed the intro post:
stay tuned…

Hello everyone! Answering a request made by an anon today:“And then I thought about this other scenario where reader and Ben had done a movie together and they are dating and now they are doing the press tour and they are doing the vanity fair lie detector interview. (you know what i’m talking about?) I remember Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton did this years ago while promoting Stranger Things and they were super cute. I just love fics about doing these kind of interviews, like the wired autocomplete interview, for example. (I sometimes imagine myself doing it, pretending I’m famous🙈 but if you ask me about that I’d deny it) + they try to play it cool and hide that they are madly in love and act as if they weren’t a couple but the whole game outs them completely and it’s hilarious and they laugh like mad about it Anyways, that’s it and I hope I’m not bothering💗”
Thank you so much for your request, anon! I hope that you like what I’ve written for you!
I hope you all like this adorable fic! Tell me what you think about it!
****
Pairing : Ben Barnes x reader
Warnings: Fluff. Tooth-rotting fluff. So adorable you might actually melt.
Summary: You and Ben answer the lie detector interview to promote the new season of SaB, where you have worked together. But the interview reveals a lot more about your relationship with Ben than what was intended to begin with.
Word Count: 2869
Ben Barnes’ Masterlist – Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
You thought this would be fun, but Vanity Fair really does take this thing seriously.
The room you’ve walked into with Ben has something a little intimidating about it. Low lights, a simple table set in the middle of the room, a couple of chairs that face each other, and of course, a man setting up a lie detector in a corner. The journalist gives the two of you a warm smile and asks you who wants to start. She’s holding some papers, on which you have no doubt you’ll find a list of questions for both Ben and you.
Speaking of Ben, he turns to you then, his gaze questioning and the ghost of a warm smile on his lips.
He looks ridiculously handsome today, with a white t-shirt, some dark jeans and a brown oversized cardigan… But then again, you did help him choose his outfit for the interview this morning. You’re the only one to blame for your own suffering. The fact that he’s let his hair grow a little more these days, the curls starting to roll at the nape of his neck, doesn’t help at all.
“Do you want to start asking the questions or answering, Y/N?”
It’s weird to hear him say your name. You love it, of course, how it rolls on his tongue, deep voice filled with warmth as it leans on the syllables in a heavy British accent that you adore. Still, it feels strange because after dating him for so long, living with him… you’re used to answer only to love, darling, gorgeous, beautiful…
But then again, you remember Ben’s words from this very morning, while he was tying his shoes in the hallway, looking up at you while kneeling on the ground.
Today, we’re colleagues! No lovey-dovey reactions! We need to remain professional!
You smile. Professional. Of course, you’re an actress, you can do that.
“I’d rather start answering. Plug me in!”
Ben can’t refrain a chuckle at that, and you sit down, waiting for the wires to be tied around your body and for the camera to roll.
You’re more nervous than usual. It’s intimidating, to be surrounded with strangers, in a tiny room dimly lit, with wires connecting you to a lie detector. You won’t be able to lie to get out of a weird question. You feel a little safer though as Ben sits down on the other side of the table, picking up a sheet of paper and scanning questions with a focused frown on his brow. He looks warm and cozy, yet elegant. You’re not sure how he does it, but he does. You have to refrain your sudden urge to stand up and snuggle into his chest, arms around his torso to let him wrap his cardigan around you. He loves to do that, to wrap you around his coat and pullover to keep you warm. It gives him a good excuse to hold you close…
The interviewer gives Ben a thumbs up, and so he clears his throat to start the interview.
When he looks up at you, your nervousness is obvious, and his polite smile grows soothing, reassuring.
“You’re alright over there, Y/N? Comfy with all these wires?”
“It’s incredibly relaxing. I don’t feel at all like I’m about to be thrown in jail.”
He chuckles, shaking his head.
“The only threat is you revealing that you secretly hate me.”
“Oh shoot… I wanted to hide that.”
You both laugh, and you feel yourself relax a little. You focus on Ben, and all seems better again.
“Alright, I have a few general questions I need to ask for the lie detector to work. So don’t lie just yet,” he adds with a wink, making your heart skip a beat.
Damn, you’ve been together for a while now, yet, he still makes you feel like a lovesick fool every single time…
“Is your name Y/N Y/L/N?”
“It is,” you nod.
“You played a character in Shadow and Bone, correct?”
“I did, yes.”
“Are you ready to take the lie detector test?”
“Not really. I’m a little nervous.”
You chuckle, but you keep fiddling with your sleeve nonetheless.
You’re surprised when Ben reaches across the table to give your hand a reassuring squeeze.
“You look terrified,” he teases you.
“It’s intimidating! I can’t lie!”
“You never lie anyway, you hate it.”
“Sometimes I do lie.”
Ben suddenly wears an outrage face.
“Even to me?”
“Especially to you. You’re insufferable.”
He dramatically gasps, and you both laugh. You feel yourself relax a little more as Ben leans back in his chair, giving your hand one last squeeze before leaving your fingers.
You need to focus on him. It’s merely an interview, why are you so nervous in the first place?
The man on your right, who is looking at the results from the detector, tells you that the machine works perfectly. Ben can start asking you real questions now.
“Alright!” he gives a happy wiggle, clearly enjoying himself as he rubs his hands together. “Which of these are the most embarrassing…”
“Hey! Be nice! I’ll ask you questions too, after that! If you’re mean, I’ll choose the worst questions too!”
“It might be worth it.”
But he takes a couple more seconds to pick a question from the list, and you reckon he’s being kind. It’s nothing too embarrassing. Just a couple of general questions about your childhood, nothing to worry about.
You’re more relaxed now, and he notices it. Good, he can tease you a bit more then.
“You joined the cast of Shadow and Bone during the second season. Did you get along with your co-workers?”
“Yes, everyone was nice. I had a lot of fun.”
“Have you ever dreamt about the Grishaverse?”
“Yes. While we were filming, sometimes I’d dream about some scenes. And now as well, a little bit. Because we’re talking about it a lot in interviews and such.”
Ben nods at your answer, a dreamy smile on his lips as he takes you in. You look so beautiful today…
But he shakes himself out of his thoughts. He was the one claiming that the two of you ought to remain professional during this interview. He can’t catch himself thinking about kissing you like this…
He scans the list of questions again, more to distract himself from his urge to reach out and hold your hand and kiss your knuckles than anything else. But he explodes with laughter as he finds the perfect question.
He reckons you’re relaxed enough now for him to tease you a bit.
“Oh dear… what have you found now?” you ask, your voice cautious but an amused giggle bubbling on your tongue too.
He clears his throat, shakes the piece of paper with a flourish, his grin full of mischief.
“You have recently commented on the season finale. And especially, Patrick’s Gibson transformation…”
“Hmm…” you slowly nodded, waiting expectantly.
“You have pointed out that his appearance was… distracting.”
You both laughed at the phrasing.
“Yeah, I was a bit more direct than that, but that’s true.”
“Out of your castmates, which one do you think is the best-looking?”
You shake your head, feeling heat spread across your skin as you bury your face in your hands in embarrassment.
The little shit… He knows the answer is him. Of course it is, he’s the man you live with, the man you love, the man you join in bed every night.
You can read in his amused gaze that he’s waiting for your answer, that he’s waiting for you to say his name.
You won’t give it to him that easily. Lie detector be damn. He’s fishing for compliments and you won’t yield.
“Well… I can’t lie.”
“You can’t,” he shakes his head, struggling to hide a grin.
“Then… I have to be honest…”
“You do.”
“I think the most beautiful person of the cast is…”
He loves it… the way you’re struggling to keep a straight face, the way you look a little embarrassed and are fleeing his gaze… he loves it. You’re adorable like this.
But then you look up at him all of a sudden, and you’re the one grinning with mischief.
“… Lewis.”
His mouth falls open in shock, and you can’t refrain your laughter as you see him clenching his jaw.
That backfired alright…
He nods slowly, tapping the paper against the table.
“Fair enough,” he concedes. “Can’t compete with this guy.”
You’re still laughing, and think you’ve gotten away with it, when the man next to you frowns at the readings of the lie detector, and he lets out his conclusion in a cold voice.
“That was a lie.”
You and Ben exchange a glance, before both of you would explode with laughter.
“You’re so cruel!” Ben waves a finger at you.
“I tried! I tried! But then again, you were being mean with that question.”
“Mean? Me?”
“Obviously.”
“You still haven’t answered.”
“You know the answer.”
And you think that he’s going to drop it, because going on would reveal too much of your relationship, but he doesn’t back down. Instead, he leans a little over the table, tilting his head, a devilishly charming smile on his lips.
“Well, it’s still a nice thing to hear. Especially from such a beautiful woman.”
You’re quite taken aback at the obvious flirt in his tone. Not that it’s anything unusual between the two of you, but during an interview?
You bite on your lower lip as you smile, trying to hold back a cheeky remark, without a doubt; and he can’t control the way his heart swells with fondness and love at the sight.
God, he loves you so damn much…
And he knows he’s taking the game a little too far, that he’s fishing for compliments, but he can’t help it. Sometimes, he still struggles believing that you really think this of him… but you prove it one more time.
“You. I think you’re the most attractive member of the cast.”
The grin that’s plastered on his face and his proud, delighted little wiggle are worth your burning cheeks.
He turns to the camera.
“I’ve obviously paid her to say that.”
“He did,” you confirm.
But the lie detector expert chooses this moment to chime in again.
“It was the truth.”
Both you and Ben explode with laughter, just like everyone in the room.
“Well, thank you, Y/N,” Ben grins.
“When is it my turn to ask you questions so I can torture you?”
“Soon.”
“Good…”
“Actually, we’ve just run out of time. It was a pleasure to be here!”
“No! Ben! Absolutely not! I want to ask you shitty questions too!”
“Shitty questions? I’ve literally chosen the best ones. The last one was the only one teasing!”
You mumble something unintelligible under your breath, making him laugh fondly at you again.
“Okay, one last question, cause that’s a nice one,” Ben clears his throat, calming down again. “Do you think working on Shadow and Bone had a positive impact on your life?”
You think again of the first time you had met Ben for the script read-through. The way he smiled that day, all shy and charming. Your long afternoons spent learning your lines together, your evenings spent talking for hours while eating pizza, your sleepless nights as you told him everything about you, your first kiss in an empty street of Budapest…
And to that, you have to add all the friends you’ve made along the way…
You’re grinning as you answer.
“Yes, most definitely, yes. I’ve met amazing people on this project. I’m very lucky to be a part of it.”
You exchange one last smile with Ben, before the interviewer speaks up again.
It’s Ben’s time to answer questions, and you keep teasing him about it, as you browse through the list.
“So… which ones are the most embarrassing…?”
He rolls his eyes as his fingertips are being covered with wires.
“Very funny,” he replies, and with much maturity, sticks out his tongue at you, making you laugh.
But he does look quite uneasy as he sits down, although he’s still much calmer than you were.
“You’re alright?” you ask, your voice soothing now instead of teasing.
“It is quite uncomfortable to be plugged to this thing,” he admits. “It does feel… intimidating.”
“Right! I told you!”
“I swear, ma’am, I know nothing about the secret services.”
You laugh at that, shaking your head at his silly joke.
“Right, let’s begin!” you declare, as the journalist gives you a nod. “Your name is Ben Barnes.”
“It is.”
“You are British.”
“I am.”
“Are you ready to start the lie detector test?”
“I am. Fire away.”
“Confident!” you narrow your eyes at him. “Let’s find a terrible question to bring that cockiness down a notch…”
“Cocky?”
“Ha! Found one!” you ignore his protest. “Do you find an American accent sexier than a British accent?”
He frowns a little.
“No,” he answers truthfully, a breathy chuckle leaving his lips.
“Do you ever wish you could move back to the UK?”
“Yes, I do. My family lives there, and many of my friends too. It’s hard sometimes.”
“Do you prefer British or American snacks?”
“British.”
“Jaffa cakes?” you ask, rolling your eyes.
“Obviously. And these… chocolate biscuits you have with your tea… delicious.”
You go through the list, ask him a few questions about his role, but they are all rather tamed, and by the end of the interview, you’re not satisfied with how much you’ve managed to tease him.
Until your eyes read through the last line.
Ask a question of your choice.
Oh yes…
“Alright, last question,” you say, struggling not to smile.
You’ve got ‘mischief’ written all over your features, and Ben narrows his eyes at you at the sight.
“Oh… I’m in trouble with this one…”
“I’m using the last one.”
“Which one is it?”
You turn the paper around so he can read the line, and he bursts into laughter.
“Oh… that’s bad! What are you going to ask me?”
You put the sheet of paper down, and lean over the table.
“Ben Barnes,” you speak in a low voice.
“Yes?” he answers with a nervous giggle.
“Remember that you cannot lie.”
“I remember.”
“Ben.”
“Yes?”
“Did you eat the last of my chocolate chips cookies yesterday?”
He laughs at that, but you can see him blushing hard.
“Oh… no… I’m in so much trouble now…” he winces.
“Because, yesterday, you denied it!”
“I did.”
“And the truth is…?”
He bites on his lip, but closes his eyes.
He can’t lie anyway because of this bloody machine…
“I ate the cookie,” he confesses.
“I KNEW IT!”
“I was very hungry,” he argues.
“I knew it was you!”
He laughs at that, shaking his head at you.
“If you didn’t eat it, who else could it be, darling?”
Your eyes widen at the pet name, and so do his. He glances over at the camera, blushing more than ever, red spreading over his skin all the way to the top of his ears.
He clears his throat, but his voice sounds deeper now.
“Anyway, I’m the culprit.”
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” you answer.
Damn be the interview. When Ben smiles again, he’s more relaxed, the flush leaving his cheeks.
Damn be the interview…
“I’ll buy you some more tomorrow, I promise.”
“You’d better not forget!”
“I’ll make you forgive me.”
“Cocky, once again…”
But he shoots you a smug grin.
“Confident, that’s all.”
“I’m sure I’ll hear all about your plan to reach forgiveness soon.”
Someone starts to detach all the wires from Ben’s fingers, and you both assume that the camera is turned off and that you can act like your normal selves once more.
“What about flowers, my darling?” Ben asks softly, so as not to be overheard by too many people in the room. Only the technician who is taking care of the lie detector seems to hear him.
“Hmm… that’s a good start.”
“You ate the last of my jaffa cakes last time we came back from London, remember? And my mom had bought them for me!”
“For us, honey. Your mom bought them for us.”
He rolls his eyes at that, before heaving a sigh.
“You’re going to use that to decide what we’ll eat tonight, won’t you?”
You nod, excited all of a sudden, and Ben wishes he could be annoyed, but he fails miserably. Your smile is too bright for that, it gives him butterflies and a stuttering heart and he adores every second of it.
“Very well, then. You can pick whatever you want.”
“Yes!” you wiggle happily, standing up to leave the interview.
Little did you know that the camera was still rolling, the mics still recording. When you watch the interview a couple of weeks later, you both laugh uncontrollably. The comment section is on fire, and you spend the evening with Ben, lying on the couch together, laughing at all the crazy reactions to the interview.
You don’t mind. You don’t mind one bit, and neither does Ben, actually.
Although, you tease him about it for weeks.
“So much for being professional, huh?”

Why Hobie's chucks?
Tumblr media
I had seen a lot of people question how she can fit in those shoes, and some to say that their relationship is actually deeper because of this, however my mind has been going in other directions.
For example, why those?
Let me start with one thing: We have no idea how many things Gwen owns, and what is actually hers.
Considering the fact that at the end of the movie she went to get the polaroid she had with Miles, I think is safe to say that she didn't go back to the apartment to retrieve any of her belongings, meaning the things she had that were hers previously was probably only the things she carried with her, that is her suit, and her ballerina shoes.
Tumblr media
I bring this show because we can see that she is using her ballerina shows in the first movie, and aside of the Vision's academy uniform, the only other thing we saw her use in the first movie is her spider suit, which she was transported with.
This makes sense because being at the academy she could probably find a uniform on the school store or similar, shoes perhaps was a bit more complicated.
(She also appears to use them while she was presenting herself, seeing on a flashback. This could be that either she was fresh out of a spider-woman mission and didn't have another shoes; or the animators didn't see the point in designing shoes for a scene that wasn't going to show them for more than 2 seconds.)
However while looking back at the beginning of the movie, Gwen is using chucks, same or similar colour too.
Tumblr media
(Animation wise, they are probably the same shoes.)
Okay, this confirms us that she likes chucks, and is part of her style; so she probably took the shoes because she likes that type, right?
Yes, except that here is the thing: Why?
When she battles, she uses the pointe ballet shoes, in fact even if you see her using chuck's earlier in the movie, she is switches to her ballet shoes for the fight with Vulture. Even if we see her using the chucks later in the movie while she is in her spider-suit, that was after she got called out for not doing her duty, so she probably didn't have them handy.
However, even if we know that she went to Earth-1610 to catch the Spot (meaning she should be gearing for battle,) it was only the excuse she used so she could go to this universe without getting in trouble. After all, she opened the portal DIRECTLY to Miles.
Tumblr media
Okay, after this point is going to be more speculation/theory than analysis, so feel free to take it with a grain of salt.
Hear me out.
Now, we have NO idea how the Spider Society operates in terms of money, food, etc. We don't have an idea if Gwen is getting paid (how that would even work? It would be money from Earth-928?) we can assume she stays there to sleep at least, even if she still crashes Hobie's universe.
But in terms of her wardrobe or how to get a new one, we have no clue; it could also be that even if she gets paid, she doesn't like to use the clothes that are in Miguel's universe; I wouldn't be shocked that there aren't any.
And we establish that she likes those converse, right? Part of her style, probably something she likes to use to you know, daily live, seen friends, looking good for someone.
Also, what else Hobie said before he asked if those were his chucks?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, she left a sweater, her toothbrush, and took Hobie's shoes.
Considering she left her toothbrush, it probably means she was there fairly recently; however she also left a sweater and we know she had a cardigan with her when she went to visit Miles.
I think everyone can see where I am going with this, but to put the cherry on top-
Tumblr media
Hobie knew that was Miles.
Now, could he had known just because Gwen probably told him about Miles, however he also should know that 1) No way in hell he should be able to travel to another dimensions since he doesn't have a watch, 2) He just saw him, he cannot even go with the description because the suit is different that the one Gwen saw him last time, even if is a small change.
Not to mention that hey, she opened the portal directly to Miles, right? Woudln't that be something they would had notice if she went directly from HQ to him? She probably needed to put some special coordinates because she didn't even know Miles was in his home when she came to see him, just that he was there.
So with all those pieces, what's my theory?
Gwen went to Hobie's universe to get ready, to get some stuff from him (since their styles are probably closer that whatever the heck they have in 2099) and maybe to also to avoid been seen by the organization. And in a rush, she mentioned to Hobie that she would see Miles, and probably not much else since she left so much crap there and the guy didn't even realize she took his shoes.
Again, a lot of this is speculation, but the idea of this girl going to get those shoes to look nice when she met Miles again, JUST to have him be jealous about it-
I had been taking breaks to laugh while writing this post; I love these idiots I swear.

Romanticising school and studying
Going to school everyday can get a little monotonous at times, especially if you aren't a massive fan of all your subjects or don't like the class your in for a variety of reasons (annoying classmates, bad teacher etc). Romanticising school can help make going seem more appealing, help motivate you and ensure that you actually start to enjoy going - as well as meaning you look and feel pretty every day. These tips are ones I personally follow and they have helped me stay organised and motivated (so much so that people often describe me as 'that girl'). I really hope they help you too or at least inspire you to find ways to romanticise school/studying!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Create school playlists. This is a playlist to put on while studying, going to school or when you need to feel a little bit more enthusiastic about school. Give it a pretty cover and title and pick songs that make you feel happy and motivated.
If you get to pick your own clothes, pick clothes that make you feel cute and comfortable, with jewellery to add extra details to your outfit. If you wear a school uniform (which I used to have to wear) try and find ways to make it cuter without breaking uniform rules, for example wearing bows/ribbons in your hair, jewellery, cute socks, stylish shoes and jumpers/cardigans.
Try to buy pretty school essentials. For example a nice bag, pencil case and stationary, an adorable water bottle, a lunch box and a pretty notebook.
Add stickers to your school book covers! Try to either find ones which fit the subject (for example quotes for literature) or just stickers that you love. Decorating your notebooks make them a little cuter and might help motivate you to open them more!
Make your notes colourful and pretty. I love taking colourful, fun notes (I'm pretty well known for it in my classes) and it always help my notes be more memorable and also easier to read and turn into additional revision resources. If you aren't sure where to start, pinterest always has super pretty note inspo.
Try and join clubs or activities which are around things that you love such as an art club or a football club! This is a great way of meeting new people but also making your day more interesting and busy.
Before you start studying, set your desk up. Turn lamps on, light candles, open a window, fill your water bottle up and get your favourite highlighters and pens! This will make it easier to start studying and make it feel more cozy, helping you to study for longer.
Have a delicious and nice looking breakfast. Nourishing your body in the mornings will help you to feel more energised and motivated for the day ahead. My favourite breakfasts (and the ones I think are the most aesthetic) always involve fresh fruits.
Bring a book with you to school! I always bring at least two books to school with me, one book that will be good for gaining more knowledge in classes and the other that's just a fun read. This will give you something to do when you're bored other than scrolling on your phone.
Find role models to inspire you to do better in school. Whether they are real people or fictional characters, try and find role models who inspire you to study harder and do better in school. Think about why you admire them and try to adopt those qualities yourself.
Try studying outside or in a café you love every once in a while. Order your fave drink and snack, put on your playlist and get studying.
Try to participate more in school or engage in class discussions. Verbalising your ideas and getting feedback on them can be so helpful, and so motivating especially when you make a good point or get something right.
Create a vision board or pinterest board themed around how you want your school experience to be. Look at it regularly and try to motivate yourself to fit that vision.
Install studying/school apps on your phone so you can revise between breaks or make revision a little quicker! Some apps I recommend are: quizlet (best app for making flashcards), flora (cute little timer), notion (great for organisation), wunderlist (to do lists), wild journey (relaxing sounds for studying) and xmind (for digital mindmaps).
Try studying with a group, a friend or with a 'study with me' youtube video! This is a great way of keeping yourself disciplined and motivated and of studying with real people can help you feel more motivated.

Thank you for reading! Good luck and all my love, mj.

Androgynous/Masc Leaning Capsule Wardrobe Ideas
In honor of International Nonbinary People’s Day, I offer you the clothing advice I wish I had like 15 years ago. I prefer a small well curated wardrobe but it is so tough to pull that off as a nonbinary genderfluid person. I spent years struggling to make my capsule wardrobe work for me. Every example I saw was either with feminine clothes or with the world blandest men’s clothing.
For reference, I’m AFAB and live in Kentucky - very hot and muggy in summers, can get quite cold (-20 F) in winter but it’s usually mild with highs are in the 30F-40F range most days. This is the advice I’d give my younger self if I could.
Focus on 10-15 Core Items
While I am fluid, I consistently spend most of my time “inbetween” these days. Having a neutral to masc learning main wardrobe with some feminine items to mix in wound up working best for me. So here’s the masc leaning base wardrobe I recommend.
~3 x Button Ups - I went with short sleeve Hawaiian shirts for myself because I love bold patterns. You can find a lot of Hawaiian shirt these days that don’t have stereotypical “island” patterns on them while still being pretty light and breathable in summer. If your style leans more classic, consider oxford cloth button ups. You might need more button ups if you work in a business casual setting.
~3 x Tees - I like graphic tees, specifically hand screen printed ones so that’s what I go with. But if your style is more classic then consider investing in some good quality solid color tees.
~3 x Casual Tops - for me this is a tank top, turtleneck, and a Henley. But you might consider a collarless button ups, plain long sleeve shirts, and ringer style long sleeve shirts.
~3 Pants - for me, I have black and stone washed denim since those are my favorites. I look for tapered fits over skinny or boot leg where I can. I have one pair that’s a jogger style I quite like. You might look for chinos or khakis if you have a more formal dress code at work but they’ll still work with graphic tees and other tops if you style them right.
~3 x Layers - for me this is a cardigan, a flannel, and a hoodie. You might consider v neck or crew neck sweaters, cable knit sweaters, and fair isle sweaters as well.
Feminine Clothing Module
What’s nice about this approach is that you can then create a feminine clothing module that plays nicely with your main wardrobe.
For me this looks like
1-2 Dresses - I have a maxi tee dress and a long sleeved linen dress since that works more for everyday wear for me.
1-2 Skirts - I don’t have any presently but the next big feminine swing I have I’ll be ordering a nice linen skirt in my favorite color.
1-2 Casual Tops - I don’t have any presently after my last big wardrobe edit but business casual shell tops, camisoles, and cowl neck tops work well here.
1-2 Layers - I have a linen blazer in a women’s cut and a long striped duster. You might consider a kimono style shrug/wraps, sweaters in a more feminine cut, and women’s cardigans
You don’t need a lot here because so much of the main wardrobe can be mixed with a feminine element or two and it becomes much more feminine - especially if you’re AFAB but even if you’re AMAB. It doesn’t take a lot a feminine clothing to make an over all outfit look more feminine and subtle touches work just as well as more overt styles ime.
Sizing
Sizing is tricky as hell. I’m plus size (size 18-20 in women’s pants) and especially trying to find masculine stuff with the right fit is a pain. I really recommend going in to try things on if you’re able but if not get comfortable with the idea you will likely need to send things back. Yes you can take measurements but those measurements are still listed with different proportions in mind.
For men’s clothes I lean toward a slightly oversized fit - as most men I’m around do. For women’s clothes, I lean toward a slightly tight fit - as most women I’m around do. Look at the people around you and see which fits they lean toward and opt for that where you’re able to for yourself.
Shoes, Outwear, Special Occasions
Shoes - I tend to opt to go neutral in my shoes and outerwear. Not in color or pattern mind you but gender. For shoes, I currently have 3 pairs - a pair of crocs (with spikes), running shoes/sneakers (old Champion brand slip ons), and a pair of Doc Martens. These are good options if you’re AMAB too because the sizing is unisex or available in similar styles for men and women. Other good options are Vans, Chucks, any hippie sandal brand you can think of. “Nicer” shoes are great but often pretty gendered. I lean toward getting “nicer shoes” that are opposite my assigned gender when I do grab them.
Outerwear - I also tend to opt for gender neutral options for outerwear too. Since it doesn’t get terribly cold here, I stick to a micropuff jacket from North Face and layer a black denim jacket over it when it gets cold. When I wear it with masc stuff, blends in. When I wear it with feminine stuff, it adds a slight edge I like. Pea coats are decent options as well. If you live some place real cold, a lot of the long winter coats are basically the same between genders, just different fits.
Special Occasions - I would recommend not worrying about special occasions until or unless they come up. I have the same two “special occasion” dresses that I’ve been using for years because they come up so rarely and I can’t bare to spend too much money on something I’ll wear maybe once or twice a year. Formal wear is highly gendered and if you learn androgynous it’s a tough needle to thread. For those events with hosts you know, it’s worth reaching out to them to see what they think makes an outfit “formal” - could be nicer cuts or materials, could be rigid gender norms - can’t know until you ask.
For most special occasions, I do not know the host, so I default very structured looks in accordance with my assigned gender. Still feels a bit edgy but no ones gonna have the guts to say it’s wrong. For AMAB folks you might do the inverse, more flowy looks and colors while still adhering to your assigned gender. All depends on the level of familiarity you have with the hosts and the flack you’re willing to catch.
Outfits
Some masc leaning outfit ideas:
button up, hoodie, pants, boots
graphic tee, flannel or cardigan, pants, sneakers
turtleneck, pants, boat shoes
button up, tie, cardigan, pants, chelsea boots
Some fem leaning outfit ideas:
button up, cardigan, skirt, sneakers
shell top, wrap, pants, sandals
graphic tee, skirt, sneakers
dress, sandals
Conclusion
Hope this was helpful to someone out there!

WHAT'S THE ANSWER FOR ME + YOU?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
although woonhak was deemed the golden boy of your school, he lacked in academics. when he goes to the pretty girl (whom also has a tad bit of a crush on him) in the library for math help, how'd he know you'd be this cute?
PAIRING kim woonhak x fem!reader WC 1.1k TAGS adults dni. so much fluff it hurts. mutual pining. OMI NOTE my sweet boy omg i love writing for him. tbh i wrote this as a distraction for the other woonhak fic i started oops. not proofread sorry for mistakes hehe
Tumblr media
november was cloudy, as if the sun was too shy to peek over the soft blankets that covered the sky. despite the dreariness, his spirit was always there. kim woonhak was the golden boy of your academy. the school’s star athlete, good at winning over hearts and games.
though he had far from perfect grades, he was good at getting away with an f every now and then. however this wasn’t the most ideal.
sometimes you sat inside of the library, taking in the smell of new books. you had no practical reason to be there, but the quiet environment was good enough for you. you weren’t used to the popularity scene like he was. and though everything in your heart was telling you to talk to him, you just couldn’t.
that specific day, you settled on the floor with your back against the hard books. notebooks, pencils, and a laptop was sprawled out everywhere, but not so much that people couldn’t walk past you. you had an immense headache from cramming in an assignment last minute. because of this, you hardly noticed the body that was towering over you, until he spoke.
“hey! your name is y/n, right?” his voice was alluring like honey dripping down your throat, and a striped cardigan draped over his messily buttoned shirt and slightly loose tie.
but in that moment you froze. admiring him for so long wasn’t considered as practice for actually talking to him.
“hi, yes! um, am i in your way?” you hurry to scoot away but he hesitantly places a hand on your shoulder to stop you.
“no not at all!” he tells you anxiously. in his mind he was thinking you were much prettier in person.
“then what’s up?” you felt small in comparison to his large figure.
“the counselor sent me over to you actually! she said i’d find you here.” he explained, “i need someone to tutor me.”
“you need a tutor?” you questioned with a confused expression on your face.
“yeah.. they’re going to pull me out of basketball if i don’t get my math grade up. and a little birdie told me you were one of the best.” he grinned at you happily and held his hand out for you to get up.
“oh! well i think i have some time right now. i just finished my assignment so you’re in luck.” you quickly grab your things and shove them into your bag before taking his hand.
the touch of his hand on yours made the both of you blush, swiftly pulling away after you were on your feet. you followed behind him to one of the nearest tables, setting your things down beside you before taking a seat.
“so ahm, what specifically were you needing help with?” you ask, pulling out your math notebook and flipping through the chapters.
“literally everything! like how do you even add exponents with different bases?” he whined next to you, letting his head fall onto the desk.
“no i totally get how that can be tricky!” you laugh, “here i’ll write down an example.”
conversation throughout the rest of the study session flowed smoothly. despite it being your first proper interaction, he knew how to make you smile.
a stupid joke here and then, sometimes a wink, or his hand grazing slightly against yours. what were you even saying?
meeting up became more frequent between the two of you. it came to the point where you met every tuesday and thursday for the remainder of the month. he wasn’t difficult to teach, but there were time’s he’d zone out in the middle of your mini lesson.
you wondered what went on in his mind, but every part of you wanted to hope you were the one he thought about.
“woon! are you even listening to me?” you frown, snapping your fingers infront of the boy.
“yes yes, i’m sorry i’m just a little sidetracked today.” he sighs, scribbling nothings onto his paper.
“we have our math exam next week and you’ve been doing so much better than when we met for the first time. you can’t be lacking on me now!” you pout at him. it was maybe your eighth time studying in the library together.
“you’re just so pretty, it’s distracting.” he says quietly, not exactly loud enough for you to hear.
“what?” you tilt your head a little.
“nothing! it’s nothing i promise.” he leans his head back, groaning, “there’s just this problem i’m really having trouble figuring out.” “what kind of problem, i’m sure we can find a solution to it.” your interest was piqued. why would he get so worked up over a math problem?
“i don’t think i’m ready to ask you yet, i want to try to figure it out on my own first.” he sighs into his hands, barely getting a glimpse of you through the cracks of his fingers.
“you want to figure it out on your own? when’d you get so independent without me?” you fake a sad expression.
“okay okay, i’ll write it down for you then. but close your eyes!” he gives in, ripping off a sticky note from the pad you took out earlier.
covering your eyes, your other senses seem to heighten. you can hear the rough writing of his pencil against the note he stole from your pile of supplies. he hesitates in between what you can only assume are numbers, before you feel him press the paper against your forehead.
“open your eyes now.”
your vision is covered slightly from the note, so you can hardly see him fidgeting with his hands. when you peel it off to read, you’re met with a very mysterious question.
‘what’s the answer for me + you?’
“huh? what does this mean woonhak..?” you squint, re - reading the same words over and over again.
“um..” he laughs nervously, “i just don’t want us to be just friends yknow? i really really like you.”
“woon i–”
“i don’t know i just think i’d be a little heartbroken if i had to see you smile so prettily everyday and not be able to call you my.. girlfriend.” he rambled, “but you don’t have to say anything yet! don’t even worry or anything i know this is kinda sudden and we’ve only been hanging out for so long but–”
you interrupt him with a gentle kiss against his lips. he smiles against yours, placing his hands perfectly against your flush cheeks to pull you closer.
“i really like you too, woonhak.” you let your head fall heavy into his hands after finally pulling away, staring at him blissfully.
“i guess i have my answer then, right?”

Okay I watched episode 1 and 2 of Masters of the Air and I loved them! And since I have a special interest in women in WWII, I'd like to look deeper at the show to see how historically accurate it is for people who may be into the show but might not know much of the history
So let's talk about the women!!
Put under a read more because I got way to into it and it got long
First up let's look at the civilian women we see. There's a lot of background women and they all look fantastic. Their dresses, the cardigans, the patterns on the blouses, skirts, and dresses, the hairstyles, the jewelry are all so good. I love that you see a variety of updos and longer hairstyles yet they've all got the curls correct. I see rolls and pin curls and even milkmaid braids. Fantastic!

But for some reason, Marge and her friend? Not so much. Marge is obviously a major character being the love interest of Gale Cleven. Their dresses are both fine. It's their hair that bothers me. It's like they tried a wet set curl but forgot to use setting lotion so the curls fell halfway through filming.

This is bad. Especially Marge's hair. This is a modern slightly wavy hairstyle and nothing like a 1940s hairstyle should be. They should have gone more like this. 1940s, especially early 1940s, was all about the curls. Wet sets and victory rolls. Updos were the go to for evening but if you wanted to wear your hair long it'd be more like this:

Why can't tv dress main characters as well as the background women? I don't get it.
Next up is the Women's Land Army. We only see them in the background but there's enough there for me to say that they look absolutely fantastic. I'm so happy.
First off, let's talk about what they're wearing.

We see the corduroy trousers, khaki dungarees, green headscarf, and black wellies that are a part of the WLA uniform. Several of them are wearing the tan shirt sleeve uniform shirt as well and I see at least two wearing the green jumper. The rest are wearing civilian sweaters and blouses which was allowed. The hair styles are perfect too. Love seeing the scarves, gibson rolls, and turbans.
For an even closer look we can take a look at the behind the scenes photos shared by Danni Philips. You can see the Women's Land Army pin on their uniform which pleases me so much you have no idea. And you can further see that the forest green sweater they're wearing is utter perfection.

Now what about the work they're doing? We can see the women driving cattle and harvesting what I believe is wheat but crops are not my specialty so I might be wrong there but both of which are two jobs done by much of the Land Army. Here's some side by side examples of the show vs original photos:

So good!!
Okay now let's talk about the Red Cross women we see. The first time we see them is this scene after the bomber crews get back from a flying mission. These ladies are a part of a Red Cross Clubmobile which you can get a quick glimpse of the Clubmobile here:

We see them handing out donuts and coffee to the men as they come in for interrogation which ABSOLUTELY was something the Red Cross did!! They established aeroclubs and had Clubmobiles stationed on air bases to provide relaxation and coffee and donuts for the base. Here's an example of them giving coffee and donuts to returning airmen on their way to interrogation which so closely resembles the show I nearly lost it.

One of my favorite details is the jacket that one Red Cross woman on the left wears. She's got a whole bunch of patches sewn on the sleeve of her jacket which is something a lot of women did when they served overseas. I've seen a bathrobe with dozens of patches sewn on and a large piece of fabric one WAC hung in her tent.

Now how about the uniforms they wear? The ladies above are wearing the uniform of the American Red Cross Clubmobile Service. Those who served in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) were provided with special uniforms consisting of a battledress-styled jacket with trousers and a matching visored ARC cap. The Clubmobile uniform was made of RAF blue-gray wool.
We get a good look at their service uniforms during the dance. They wear the American Red Cross Military Welfare Corps winter service uniform with the specific Clubmobile service patch in their sleeve. It's an oxford gray wool winter suit with a specially designed overseas cap.

Here are some Red Cross Clubmobile pictures for comparison:

And finally, my specialty, during the narrated montages we see two members of the WAC (Women's Army Corps) stationed with the 8th Air Force Headquarters. It looks like the same woman playing both WACs but they've put her in an officer's uniform for one scene and an enlisted uniform for the other.
One is WAC officer working at a teletype machine. She wears the officers service jacket with the officers lapel pins which are two US above two Pallas Athene pins. I can also see her 8th Air Force service patch on her left sleeve and Lieutenant bars on her shoulders. I can't quite tell if they silver or gold though so I'm not sure if she's a 1st or 2nd Lt. She's working as a teletype operator.

Next we see an enlisted WAC preparing for the debriefs the men will receive. She's a T3 or Technician 3rd Grade. You can see the rank patched on her shirt which has 3 chevrons and a T. There's also the 8th Air Force patch on her left sleeve. She's doing the work of a plotter. Placing the models of the planes into the locations of the formations that will be formed in the next mission.

Both WACs have perfect hair. Perfect. WACs were required to keep their hair neat and off their collar. If your hair was longer than your shoulders then you needed to put it up and the back gibson roll was the most popular way to do it. They've also kept their top rolls more to the side and smaller than usual victory rolls to accommodate their caps should they need to wear them (WACs were not required to wear their caps indoors)
In summary: I'm so damn impressed with the women in this show!!!! Overall the uniforms and costumes and hairstyles are SO GOOD! They clearly did their research when including the women and I'm so grateful for it. I'm fairly certain we'll be seeing the ATS in a future episode if the on set photos I've seen are any indication so if that happens I'll totally add that in a reblog. As well as any other glimpses of the women we get. I'm excited to see more of them!!
