How the AU’s work

Each au has four version (book style in which it falls into silver eye’s continuity, game style in which it falls into game continuity, movie style in which it falls into movie continuity, and amalgam style in which it combines all three continuity’s into one)

In xanthophobia Cassidy is the villain (William afton die’s extremely soon in the AU and for once in his life never comes back)

So in my most of my AU’s the souls are able to grow old despit not being alive which explains any shipping you might see. Most of it isn’t my doing though

Elizabeth x Nick is only cannon in golden children

Unless its Evan x Cassidy or Mike x Charlie

TF2 is cannon in the golden children au (i mostly just wanted to make fnaf 2 Jeremy TF2 Jeremy)

The golden children au takes place in the late 80s to early 90s with flash forwards towards the pizzaplex era while the shattered souls au takes place in 1991 and the malefactor malfunction shifts the entire time line to start in 2000 GMTC takes place around 1999 to 2018 xanthophobia takes place in in the 2000s and 2010s

In shattered souls Springtrap is much nicer due to him losing his murdeous tendencies after getting spring locked

malefactor malfunction is a Ben 10 fnaf crossover with Cassidy having a version of the omnitrix called kaizotrix

Let's have a little fun...

What songs are your OTPs listening to this Valentine's Day, and why? It can be any song... for any reason. It does NOT have to be all romantic and goey - just what they're listening to, and why. Here are mine, reblog with yours - or create a new post, but be sure to tag me so I can see! 😊

Tobias / Casey:

Casey is listening to this and dancing (really badly) all around their townhome. She's bopping around thinking she looks soooo sexy, and it's kind of not... but it's so damn adorable, she gets the desired reaction from Tobias anyway. Like when doesn't she get that reaction from him anyway? lol

Tobias is a huge Frank Ocean fan, and this is one of his go-to songs for when he's feeling a little 😏😏😏. I mean, it's Valentine's Day every day in the Carrick household, so they're gonna go big or go home on the actual day. (And yes, of course it works! lol)

Trystan / Carolina:

Carolina has been trying to introduce Trystan to Latin music, and since Luis Miguel was one of her father's favorites, he's one of hers, as well. This song isn't a typical Valentine's Day song because it's about longing and heartache, but that's kind of Carolina's vibe, even when she is madly in love.

Trystan is a Wham! stan. Sorry, it's canon. lol I think he's got a whole dance routine planned out... tight jeans, leather jacket, unbuttoned shirt, sunglasses... the works. And he ROCKS it. Carolina can't stop laughing, but this is why she loves him.

Ethan / Kaycee:

Kaycee is never leaving her Taylor era, and she really doesn't care that this song was written for Joe (Joe who???), and this little song reminds exemplifies her relationship with Ethan, so it's definitely on replay this Valentine's Day.

So, this ties into the Valentine's Day fic I'm finishing off for these two. But Ethan found her really likes this album, and this song in particular has a special place in his heart. I think it will become a Valentine's Day standard in their home.

Favourite thing about them: "Thing", singular? I can't put just one thing! There are too many things! The humour in his dialogue. The songs he sings. The fact that he's both an ex-mafia member and a femme gay man. The fact that he's got a twin sister in Heaven. The changes we see in his character over the course of Season 1. The bond he forms with Husk. The dynamic he has with Charlie (and the others in the hotel). The angst of his relationship with Valentino. The voice. The hair. The eyes. The arms. The chest fluff. The outfits. The dance moves. I just love him so much.

Least favourite thing about them: Well, the way he acted towards Husk initially was, let's face it, sexual harassment. Just because it was a response to trauma doesn't make it okay. I appreciate that Angel doesn't bother Husk like that after "Masquerade" - he still makes sex jokes, but now they're less about targeting people and making them feel uncomfortable - but I still think it would have been good for Angel to explicitly acknowledge that his behaviour wasn't acceptable and apologise to Husk.

Favourite line: (porn voice) "I've been a bad boy, and I need a big strong daddy to put me in my place..." (regular voice) "...on the path to redemption!"

brOTP: I like the friendship he develops with Charlie. The prequel comic "Dirty Healings" shows that she sees potential in him that he doesn't see at first. He initially only joins the hotel for the free rent and to get away from Valentino, but then he comes to genuinely care about Charlie, as she does for him. That's nice to see.

Also, Angel and Emily haven't interacted yet, but I think they would have a cute friendship if they did!

OTP: Huskerdust! I've seen so much cute fanart and read so many hurt/comfort fics of the two together that I can't help but love this ship. I enjoy thinking about them being together and how they could change each other for the better. Having Husk around to take care of Angel would definitely be good for him.

But Angel's trauma isn't going to go away overnight, so that'll be a lot to deal with. And Husk is also pretty judgemental, so if Angel ever has a relapse and Husk treats him too harshly for it, that could put a rift between them. Angst potential!

Everyone talks about how Husk is changing Angel, helping him to be more honest, but I do think Angel is changing Husk too. Husk certainly seems to drink less after "Masquerade". And if Husk was somehow able to help Angel out of his contract, that would be redemption for his own participation in the cruel Overlord system.

Angel and Husk are not perfect people, but they could be perfect for each other.

nOTP: Any ship that involves pairing Angel with a woman. He's gay. He wouldn't be interested.

As for Valangel ... look, I am interested in exploring the backstory - I want to find out how Angel met Valentino and what led to him signing his soul away. But I definitely do not want Angel to stay with that moth. That pairing is way too toxic.

Random headcanon: Both Anthony and Molly had albinism when they were alive, and that's why they're so pale in the afterlife. Anthony also had a visual impairment, so his demon form overcompensated by giving him extra eyes.

Unpopular opinion: Some fans love seeing Angel with all six arms out and six guns blazing, but I'm not so keen on it. That's a personal thing, really - I just don't like guns and don't think they have any reason to exist. All they do is kill people, and killing people is wrong. If Angel's got all six arms out, he should be using them to give Husk a back massage instead.

Song I associate with them: Besides "Poison"? Then "All You Wanna Do" from SIX: The Musical. They're both super-catchy pop songs about the dark topic of sexual abuse sung by characters associated with the colour pink. I watched the Hazbin Hotel pilot for the first time on the same weekend I went to see SIX: The Musical, so that's a neat coincidence!

angel tabitha can supercut "just the good parts" (seemingly the parts the support her specific AU - because of course if s7 is fanfiction that means tabitha is fandom)

musical episode is archie's weird fantasy / archie fic, not another media property

the star-crossed love of angel (fan) tabitha and (original universe voice-of-the-author) jughead, who can only be together within the static condition of the epic date (the experience of consuming canon, the temporary communion of creator and audience)

idk i don't think this is the best metaphorical reading of s7. i think it's more about comics / roberto's own evolving relationship to archie but understanding fandom is fundamental to understanding roberto. my good friend roberto

Probably Sasharcy (of course in the context of Sashannarcy). I absolutely adore all variants of the Calamity Trio but I just tend to drift towards them. My guess is that the personality contrast, and possibly just how much they both need to grow and forgive each other. I don't know it just intrigues me.

I also really like platonic Zelink from the BotW/TotK iteration.

And I Know I Kissed You Before (But I Didn't Do It Right) - BearerOfTheBitterMoon (liminal-lesbian on here) - Okay I could put all of Mara's fanfics on here. Her writing style and story concepts are just amazing. But we'd be here all day, so we're not going to do that. This one specifically though, was just such an emotional rollercoaster (without leaving with permanent emotional trauma, ex: The Three Body Problem). It's very sweet, it's very sad and it all just feels so real. If that makes any sense

A Witch In Wartwood - Disect - I haven't finished the sequel fanfic yet, but I love this story. It had a very creative take on a Swap AU, and it did a really good job at capturing the essence of the original show while also completely being it's own thing.

Pinpoint - i'm-at-my-limit - Okay, I need to get caught up on this one, because I love the concept and I find it's characterization really interesting but I'm also behind by like two chapters because I wasn't reading as much for a while.

Across The Seven Seas - Heart_Wit_Strength - Did I successfully trick you into thinking I wasn't going to say this? Did it work? Seriously though this is one of those fanfics that I read, immediately reread and proceeded to think about for the next three days. I actually have fan art of it that I need to complete some day. I don't know what you did, but you succeeded at it.

Then there's this one fanfic about Sasha that I really like, but I cannot find it or remember what it is called.

(I have quite a few others that I really liked, these are just the four that were in my brain apparently)

12. What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?

So the same week that I created Daren, I also created what I call that Devil in the Details AU. Which is one of those AUs where it could be angsty, but I decided it was way funnier to write absurd shenanigans.

Basically Marcy, a lonely and aimless college student, opens a music box (gifted to her by her academic mentor, Andrias) and ends up with Darcy as the devil on her shoulder. Then Anne and Sasha are sent by heaven to prevent her from becoming corrupted and taken over by them.

Of course, it’s a massive train wreck.

Darcy is trying to convince Marcy that she should trust them. But because Sasha and Anne are almost always there they can only accomplish this through underhanded life coaching. (Though when Sasha and Anne aren’t there it’s manipulation is more direct).

Sasha is a nearly fallen angel who has taken to giving beneficial but selfish advice and also physically attacking any devils that she ends up paired with.

Anne is just trying to get Sasha back on the right path and to find a way to get rid of Darcy so Marcy can go back to a normal life.

Then Marcy who was incredibly lonely finally has a social life and people that she can get engaged in her interests. So she’s convinced this is a great thing and is scheming to make it permanent.

And from this queue all of the comedic shenanigans that could possibly come out of it. But also Anne and Sasha helping guide Marcy into making a life for herself that she really wants rather than what everyone kept telling her she wanted. While Darcy of course tries to counteract that because they assume she searching for a very specific type of success and do not understand any other idea.

13. What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?

So ironically the answer here is also Sasharcy. I’m not sure how this happened but we have two Sashanne centric AUs (TOH and BotW) and two Marcanne centric ones (Witch Marcy and also BotW). But none of them have focused on Sasha and Marcy specifically (aside from post breakup in the Witch Marcy AU). It's a really interesting occurrence

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Rewatch: “Glory of the Sea”

The basics: The team hunts (see what I did there) for an Admiral abducted from his home.

Written by: Faythallegra Claude wrote season 13’s “Perception”.

Directed by: Terence Nightingall directed "Expiration Date", "Old Tricks", "Warrior of Peace", "The Sound of Silence", “A Bloody Brilliant Plan” (which he co-wrote) and “Divided We Fall”.

Guest stars of note: Duncan Campbell returns from “Of Value” as NCIS Special Agent Castor, John O'Hurley as Navy Rear Admiral Ted Gordon, Bryan Lillis as Jessie Fiore, Audrey Wasilewski as Meredith Huxley, Charles Kohut as Jim Bones, Brent McGregor as Long John and Tre Hall as Marcus Moore.

Our heroes: Go on a treasure hunt.

What important things did we learn about: Callen: Not so sure about the treasure. Sam: Totally doesn’t believe in the treasure. Kensi: Working well with Rountree today. Deeks: Looking at places where Bertie can live. Fatima: Solving puzzles with the Admiral. Rountree: Figures out the lock number by thinking like Gordon. Kilbride: See Kensi.

What not so important things did we learn about: Callen: No bachelor party. Sam: Fire at the Hanna household was contained with more embarrassment than damage. Kensi: Thinking she’s not the fun parent. Deeks: Possibly the fun parents because of the blonde surfer look and skydiving. Fatima: Helping Kensi achieve fun parent status. Rountree: Thinks life is about the journey, not the treasure at the end. Kilbride: Enjoyed Michael Mann’s “Heat 2” novel.

Where in the world is Henrietta Lange? Earns a mention about Callen’s wedding gear.

Who's down with OTP: One half was apartment shopping with his mother.

Who's down with BrOTP: Great Callen and Sam episode – lots of banter, wedding talk, bachelor parties and treasure.

Fashion review: Callen has on a long-sleeve dark blue tee-shirt. Sam is in a charcoal grey long-sleeve tee-shirt. Kensi is wearing a dark purple cap sleeve top. A white turtleneck with chocolate brown pants for Fatima. A black short-sleeve tee for Rountree. The Admiral wears a darker blue suit than usual, white shirt, blue tie.

Music: John O’Hurley sings “Weigh, Hey and Up She Rises” to open the episode. “Sloop John B” by The Merrymen ends the episode.

Any notable cut scene: Yes. Kensi and Rountree talk in the boatshed before Marcus Moore arrives. She has a question for him – how did he bring up his sister alone? Rountree said he didn’t really have much of a choice. Kensi just doesn’t understand - Rountree was a kid. Kensi and Deeks are adults. That gets a laugh from Rountree. Kensi agrees, “Rosa’s easy. Deeks is like having a baby chimp.” She asks him seriously how did he get through it all. There were lots of tears, lots of mornings where he was scared. But he had to go on for Jordyn’s sake. And they had each other which made it easier.

Kensi thinks Rountree did an amazing job. Jordyn is so accomplished. Rountree said all he did was keep her clothed and fed, Jordyn did all the amazing stuff. Kensi doesn’t believe that. Rountree tells her he really wouldn’t want to do that again. Kensi is confused – raising Jordyn or rasing a child of his own. Either one is Rountree’s answer. He isn’t sure about bringing another kid into the world. He’s also not sure about wanting to do it again. Kensi tells him that when he meets the person he’s supposed to be with, “and you fall madly in love”, things change. Rountree thinks it might.

What a terrible scene to cut. Find this one a home in another episode because it was a great look at Rountree.

Quote: Sam: “You know what treasure is to me?” Callen: “A 50-pound kettlebell and some baby oil?” Sam (laughing): “Family and friends, a good day's work.”

Anything else: In a small Los Angeles home, a gentleman is making himself a smoothie for breakfast where the main ingredient is alcohol. Singing “Whey, Hey and Up She Rises” as the man works on his smoothie, the power goes out in the house. There are kids outside causing trouble outside – “oh, those damn kids!” The man grabs a spear (as one does when the neighborhood kids are full of mischief) and goes to his door. When the man opens the door, he met by a group of men wearing ski-masks, looking for a fight. The man puts up a decent defense of himself but is subdued. A hood is thrown over his head as he’s taken from his home.

While Deeks is using a personal day to help Bertie find a new place to live, Kensi is working on a list of fun places to take Rosa. Fatima is interested until she hears Kensi’s suggestions – a production at the Geffen, visiting museums like the Getty, LACMA and MOLAA. The MOLAA, Kensi notes, is the only museum in the entire country dedicated to Latin American art.

Fatima thinks a play and four museums aren’t exactly young girl fun stuff. She thinks shopping at the Grove, being part of an audience when a TV show is filmed, celebrity house tour around LA or visiting an escape room could be fun. Kensi is all about art and theater. Fatima is all about Kensi “ushering Deeks into the role of fun parent.” Kensi talks about not being the fun parent and Fatima gets it – surfer Deeks is the default fun parent unless Kensi really wants it.

In the driveway, Sam gets a phone call – the fire department was by the house. Alone in the house, Raymond forgot he was making steak and eggs. Small fire, no real damage according to the fire captain. Callen is sympathetic – how does a man like Raymond go from commanding a battalion to suddenly need a caretaker? “Kicking and screaming,” according to Sam.

Changing the subject, Sam wants to know if Callen has been fitted for his wedding suit. He hasn’t. In fact, he’s been thinking about grabbing a suit from wardrobe – they’re all really good. Sam is horrified. The suits have gunpowder and blood in them. Besides, Hetty would kill him if he took the suit for an unauthorized event. Callen laments that Hetty would have to come out hiding to do that. Sam pushes his tailor again, even promises to pay for the suit. Callen and Sam are called to Ops. Kensi and Fatima are already there.

The man kidnapped from his home is Rear Admiral Ted Gordon. Neighbors heard the struggle and a security camera picks up Gordon and his abductors leaving the house. The security video is from behind – no clear faces, no visible license plate. Gordon has no family – no wife, no siblings, no kids. He has been on leave from the Navy in advance of his pending retirement. His prior assignment was working with a civilian tech contractor Nautical Robotics. They specialize in robotics – mostly underwater gliders than can travel unmanned through the ocean.

Sam is familiar with the Navy’s gliders – they can do scientific research, catch drug smugglers, deploy weapons. The Russians and the Chinese have both captured these gliders in the past, claiming they are “spy boats”. Sam doesn’t disagree with the term. The team thinks instead of trying to recreate one based on the captured “spy boats”, a hostile actor grabbed Gordon so he could make a glider for them. Castor picked up Jessie Fiore, Nautical Robotics chief engineer. Kensi and Rountree will interview him in the boat shed. Callen and Sam are off to Gordon’s home.

In the boat shed, Fiore isn’t sure why he’s been brought in. Kensi mentions Gordon, who Fiore calls “the Navy arm of our project.” The two were close. Operating the glider requires two people. Fiore is shocked to learn Gordon was kidnapped. Kensi asks if Gordon mentioned threats. Fiore says no but didn’t think Gordon would say anything it he was threatened. “Ted’s not scared of anything, just like my Dad.” Fiore invited Gordon to family barbeques until the two had a falling out after Gordon appeared on the Marcus Moore tech podcast. With 12-million subscribers, Moore’s interview of Gordon never mentioned all the people working at Nautical Robotics. “A tiny shoutout could have catapulted my career.” There are questions if Gordon even had permission to appear on the podcast.

A flashback of the podcast has Gordon chatting up the gliders and their capability. He talks about “my gliders” in a Navy authorized interview. Fatima learns that after the interview, Moore flew to China and met with a groups of hackers.

Callen and Sam arrive at Gordon’s home talking about robots, thinking at some point RoboCop will be real. Sam jokes about replacing Callen with RoboCop before wondering how his father would deal with an electronic home health aide. Inside the house, Sam thinks the place looks like a maritime museum. Antique compasses and cannon balls, the place looks like a museum to Sam (maybe Kensi can take Rosa there). The bookshelves have been tossed, same with several drawers with papers. Callen picks up the one of the model boats. It reads “SOS” on the back. Sam notices the sails all have a morse code on them. The sails spell “Inside”.

In the boat shed, Kensi and Rountree question Marcus Moore. The trip to China was to expand the reach of his show – he met with some tech firms with money to spend. Kensi asks Moore about a meeting with some black-hat hackers who have caused trouble for a number of big hospitals. Moore denies knowing the people he met were hackers. Moore thought he was meeting with people who work in green energy. Rountree mentions the Gordon interview which Moore thinks is irrelevant – the Navy approved the interview. The kidnapping comes up and Moore is worried. Gordon was a difficult interview – always interrupting the flow to make calls away from Moore in the recording booth. Moore could see that Gordon was angry.

Callen breaks up the wood boat and finds a leather journal inside. Gordon went to a lot of trouble to hid the journal but also went to a lot of trouble to make sure it could be found.

From the boat shed, Kensi and Rountree get a debrief from Fatima in Ops. Gordon’s calls were to a librarian in the LA Public Library system, Meredith Huxley. She works in the maps department. Gordon called Huxley five times in a short time span. Kensi and Rountree are off to interview Huxley.

Returning to the office, Callen and Sam run into Admiral. Callen is reading Gordon’s journal. The Admiral recommends “Heat 2” instead. The kidnappers were looking for something – probably the journal. The journal is about buried treasure – a Spanish galleon sunk somewhere off the California coast with the crew burying the ship’s riches nearby. The Admiral now knows why Gordon never married. A SEAL buddy of Sam does some deep sea treasure hunting in Florida – no luck. The Admiral wants to why Gordon kept such a specific diary – there are drawings of the ocean throughout the book. One drawing is missing a big section. The team is either looking for people stealing robotic technology or they’re going on a treasure hunt.

At the library, Kensi introduces herself and Rountree to Meredith Huxley in what looks like a map room in an LA library. Huxley is unhappy to have Navy cops sent after she returned Gordon’s antique map. The map, Gordon believes, leads to buried treasure. Huxley isn’t so sure. She did, however, verify the map was legit – 17th century Spain. But with her planned visit to her daughter in Sacramento, Huxley locked it into a secure drawer in the library. Gordon picked it up as soon as Huxley returned. The map may not lead to treasure but it is true antique and worth a good deal of money. In his rush to retrieve the map, Gordon left behind some notes he took. Huxley offers them to Kensi and Rountree.

The journal is full of information, including a manifest for the Spanish galleon, the stars in the sky the night of ship wreck – incredible details. Gordon has a riddle for the location of map - "The Lone Sailor can't see the treasure, but he looks to the map at his parallel dove." Sam is good at riddles – thinks the Lone Sailor Statue in Long Beach. Callen and Sam are on their way to check things out.

Gordon’s notes were mostly about the symbols on map. To find the treasure on-shore, Gordon first had to find the ship. If he find the ship and deciphers the symbols on the map, he should be able to find the treasure. About a month ago, Gordon told Huxley he found the ship using glider technology. Kensi remembers Fiore saying the glider needed two people to operate it. Fiore likely knows about the shipwreck and the treasure hunt. Kensi asks Fatima to bring Fiore in again.

Callen and Sam arrive at the Lone Sailor Statue and with Fatima, start working through the riddle. The statue of the Lone Sailor is looking at the ocean, which is south. The statue is on Paloma Avenue – paloma means dove in Spanish. With the latitude of the statue being 3376, Callen and Sam are off to 3376 Paloma Avenue – Antique Mariner Bookstore.

While the bookstore is closed for business that day, the door is opened. Callen and Sam enter the store and hear noises in the back. Two men in ski masks are taking in the back. Callen and Sam say “federal agents” which causes both men to run. Sam captures the man who jumped into a storage room while Callen’s guy escaped in a white van that looked like the vehicle used to kidnap Gordon. No license plates. Back in the store, Sam takes off his guy’s ski mask – it is Jessie Fiore.

Callen and Sam question Fiore, who isn’t cooperating. He’s afraid for his life. After being convinced that Callen and Sam want to find Gordon and keep both Gordon and Fiore safe, Fiore opens up. Gordon was still in the van that got away. The plan was to go to the Channel Islands and find the treasure. Sam asks which one of the Channel Islands – there are five – but Fiore doesn’t know. The map was drawn before the different islands had names. Gordon wouldn’t tell anyone which island. Sam asks Fatima to track a boat Gordon had and where it is located. It is probably near the treasure.

Kensi and Rountree finish with Meredith Huxley. As they are about to leave, Huxley pulls out a briefcase belonging to Gordon. It is very heavy – makes a loud noise when she places it on a library desk. Kensi asks to look through the bag. It is empty but weighs a lot. With Kensi finding a false bottom, Rountree breaks out his knife to see what’s there.

The man with the van is Jim Bones, a name earning a chuckle from Sam. Fiore explains that he helped Gordon find the shipwreck with the glider. Once they found the shipwreck, Gordon wouldn’t share the location of the treasure but promised to give Fiore his share once it was discovered. An angry Fiore didn’t trust Gordon to do that so he joined an online forum of treasure hunters. Jim Bones and a guy name Long John promised to help Fiore. Fiore promises he didn’t know the two would kidnap Gordon. Calling Gordon “amazing”, Fiore says Gordon didn’t give up the map even after the was roughed up by Bones and Long John. Only after they put a gun to Fiore’s head and promised to kill him did Gordon give up the bookstore’s location. Fiore feels guilty – Gordon took a beating and gave up the bookstore location after Fiore betrayed him.

Kensi opens the false bottom. There is a small key safe. Opening the key safe using the year of the shipwreck, Kensi and Rountree find part of the missing piece of Gordon’s journal.

In the book store, one of the file cabinets is opened. It was a locked drawer, now opened with a key. Gordon said that is where the map was held. Opening the other drawers to see what’s inside, Sam finds one is jammed. Finally getting it opened after a struggle, Sam finds and cypher decoder wheel and an encrypted manuscript written in Latin. There is another piece of paper cut from Gordon’s journal.

The Admiral walks into Ops and asks Fatima about narrowing down the island. She hasn’t – Gordon visited all five with his small boat. Callen and Sam send their missing drawing piece and Fatima is able to put them all together. Looking at the drawing on the big screen, the Admiral notices a letter in one of the waves, a U. They also find a Q, N, A and T. Fatima can’t make that into a word while the Admiral isn’t going to even try to pronounce it.

Noting the letters are in different waves coming closer to the shore, ordering the letters as they make their way to the beach, it spells Tuqan. Tuqan is a Palestinian poet according to Fatima. It is also the Chumash word for San Miguel Island. The Chumash were indigenous to the area and treasure hunters would us that in their maps. Callen and Sam are going to be sent there on a chopper but San Miguel Island is a Navy test site for missiles and other unexploded ordinance.

Arriving at San Miguel Island, Callen and Sam in their vests with the big guns find Gordon with his kidnappers. They are being very careful. The island is full of places where one misstep means “kaboom” according to Sam.

The kidnappers want Gordon to dig up the treasure. They have a metal detector and weapons pointed at Gordon. Gordon mentions Juan Cabrillo, a Portuguese explorer who died on the island. Before his death he cursed the island – people of ill-will are cursed if the come to the island. The unimpressed kidnappers threaten Gordon but he tells them his destiny will not be controlled by men like them.

Callen and Sam creep up. They yell “federal agents”. This gives Gordon the chance to take his shovel and knock out one of the kidnappers. The other kidnapper makes a run for it and hits some of the unexploded ordinance. Kaboom.

The area was cleared by the Navy’s bomb squad and medics took away the kidnappers. Gordon admits he’s stunned Callen and Sam found him. Callen mentioned that Gordon didn’t make it easy. Saying that he was looking for the treasure for decades, Gordon says he realized that if he was ever lost at sea, all of his work “would have been for naught.” He set up the journal and the puzzle to leave his discoveries to a person with the same spirit he has. It never dawned on Gordon that his passion would put him or anyone else in danger. They mention Jessie Fiore. “Gold and silver are worth a fortune but a human life is priceless, even a scoundrelous traitor like Jessie.”

Gordon thanks Callen and Sam who are ready to fly him back to the mainland. Gordon isn’t going anywhere, instead he wants Callen and Sam to join him on his adventure. Callen declines. Gordon says the two don’t believe the treasure is there. Callen is evasive, Sam’s a hard no. Gordon promises to report to the SecNav about anything he finds. He tells Callen and Sam that when ships were made of wood, men were made of steel. Callen and Sam like that.

As they walk away, Callen thinks about a beach wedding. Sam thinks Callen would like a beach bar wedding instead. The two talk about sharks – Callen doesn’t like a beach with sharks. Sam suggests the Great Lakes. All the while, Gordon is studying his map and getting ready to dig. Sam is down on beach weddings – weather is always an issue. Sam’s suggestion is to let Anna plan the wedding with Callen using the magic groom words – “whatever you want, honey.” Sam is looking more for another wedding event – the bachelor party. Callen doesn’t want any part of the bachelor party. Even though Deeks has booked the flights. Cage diving with sharks in Mexico.

Fatima meets with Kensi in the bullpen. She has an idea of turning the cultural/educational places as part of a scavenger hunt. This way it is fun - Rosa can learn some things and get a feel for Los Angeles. Fatima will even help. Kensi thinks it is a great idea but thinks it is asking a lot of Fatima. Fatima is all in – it will be fun, put some brain teasers to keep the mind sharp. Kensi wonders if this makes her the fun parent. It would unless Deeks takes Rosa skydiving – which he totally would do.

Rountree joins Kensi and Fatima. He wonders if Gordon will find the treasure. They admire how he loves the hunt – it is about the journey, not the outcome.

Callen and Sam are sharing some beers on the back deck of the boatshed. Sam is talking about hiring the nurse from the hospital in “Dead Stick” to take care of Raymond. Callen thinks they should have put Gordon on the chopper with them back to LA. Sam disagrees – Gordon is right where he wants to be, looking for the treasure.

The Admiral arrives. He’s pro-treasure hunting, it started capitalism. Sam isn’t – treasure is family, friends and a good day’s work. The Admiral hands Callen and Sam a gift from Gordon before he leaves. Sam opens the little pouch and pours the contents into Callen’s hand. It is a little bit of the treasure. Callen is stunned. Sam isn’t.

What head canon can be formed from here: Again, I really think the cut scene was a huge loss not only for the episode but for the series. It was a great look at Rountree.

I’m sorry they didn’t use John O’Hurley more. The man is a great comic actor and he could have really filled out that role instead of being in the very beginning and the end. This episode could have been the final season’s “A Bloody Brilliant Plan” – played for laughs with a good case of the week – but played it a little too straight. A funny hour once a season is always a good thing. A funny episode without Deeks – often the source or the butt of the humor in the show – is a fine effort.

Callen and Deeks as an anti-bachelor party grooms. Did not see that coming.

Xiyu: Tell me about it. I'm surrounded by angels, ancient foxes, vampires, and I might be related to a God? It's insane, and I don't even know up from down anymore. So much for living the normal fashion designer life, right?

Xiao Ling: Oh, I'm a comic artist, but some of the comics I draw are actually based on alternative realities that I've visited! In each one, I always manage to find my way back to Ayn.

Belle:

Belle: I AM. A LAWYER.

Belle: AS IN I HAVE A LAW DEGREE?

Belle: AND I DEAL WITH. CRIMINAL CHARGES. AND MURDER CASES.

Belle: ...WHAT IS THIS SUPERNATURAL STUFF, I AM SCARED--

in the end, ayn and belle shake hands.

Ayn: Oh, Belle, Xiao Ling is normal like us too. Right, A-Ling?

Xiao Ling: Y-Y... Y-yup!

Weird Dream About Husk From Hazbin Hotel (He Was Being Weird...)

[Note: Mature Audience Readers Only, for now I will have this be under "for everyone" but I might change it later. also reading this is optional so only read this if you want to but you don't have to read this if you don't want to. also besides this going to talk about the weird dream I had about Husk, this will also talk about how Megatron was carrying or like went through the budding in TFA...]

ya know how weird dreams can be when they make no sense at all, also before I start on this talk about that weird dream...

there were reasons as to why I didn't sign back on Monday or Tuesday on September, and some of it isn't just because of the not so great feelings, there were other reason...

but I was able to write one of the Crossover fan fics...

like that one that has to do with Sari Sumdac at the human age of 23 but also the cybertronian age of 23 hundred...it might be a bit confusing.

but anyway the weird dream I had about Husk, was really weird and possibly out of character for him.

and I'm pretty sure he might of been drunk in that dream, cause no way he would willing say what he said in that dream.

the weird dream happen around October 5, 2023...

Husk for some reason placed his head on one of my shoulders and told me I smelled good....so it is possible he wasn't in his right mind, so why would he tell a Defective Earth Angel who's blood type is O RH D Negative that she smelled good.

and who is the same Defective Earth Angel who had found out that weird stuff happens with the modern radio at times when they either pick it up or just have their fingers pointing at it......which once again, luckily doesn't happen much but only once in a while, I can check to see if it acts weird once in a while but it might depend on the signal...

but yeah, the dream was weird and for me having weird and random dreams are normal for me.

oh yeah, and Alastor was in the dream as well, I think I wanted to tell him about Husk being weird, but it didn't turn out that way.

I know that Alastor said he didn't like me, which I think I told him in a sassy way that I didn't care.

for all I know, Husk in that dream might of mistook me for Angel Dust, and I guess it could be possible in that dream I was in the form of Angel Dust but was still me.....would also explain why Alastor said he didn't like me, of course we don't know if he would truly dislike Angel in canon.

my favorite fanon Crossover OTP ship will of course be Blitzhusk, which is Husk from Hazbin Hotel and Blitzwing from Transformers Animated.

I think I want to ship Lapis Lazuli from Steven Universe, with either Bulkhead from Transformers Animated or Waspinator from the same show...

both Lapis and Bulkhead might get along because of their love for art.

but their ship might end up being more of a "I bud it" meaning it will be friend zone.

the reason why I would OTP ship Lapis and Waspinator, because they have a bit more in common even if their bad experiences are still different.

they were both wrongfully trapped for many years and cycles.

and they were both hurt by both the Crystal Gems, Homeworld, Autobots and Decepticons.

the ship name of Lapis Lazuli x Waspinator would probably need work.

Lazulinator is just one idea, and there is WaspLazuli.

if those two fused, their ship name could also be the name of their fusion.

also I have a new favorite parody phrase....

"Decepticons Have Their Fun, But Crystal Gems Do It Better."

and yes it references the song "Brunettes Do It Better" by KIDFORCE.

if one could troll Megatron with a crossover music video, with the Decepticons being the blondes and the Crystal Gems being the Brunettes......that would be interesting, and it be funny to watch Megatron's reaction, along with other Decepticons and Autobots who watch it.

it does make sense that Megatron from TFA is Sari's Carrier-Sire.

just like how it makes sense that Optimus from the Shattered Glass version of it, is the Carrier-Sire of the Sari of that universe and timeline.

also I have learned about the whole sparked-up word, which seems to be a counterpart of the word knocked-up.

so yeah my fan theory is that Optimus had accidentally sparked-up Megatron when they were fighting and it being help along thanks to the Allspark, or the Allmatrix as I'm gonna call it...

for all we know the Allspark in that show, might not of been the real Allspark, but was still infused with some of it's power.

would explain that key and it bringing Megatron out of that stasis coma, and possibly being the reason why Sari in her upgrade form, had no control...that key has been chaotic neutral this whole time. O_O

I still think it is possible Megatron wasn't really dead when he was still in Sumdac's lab, but he would of been if the limit was up that had to do with how long his head and body can stay separated.

the time limit could be 50 to 51 stellar-cycles, so if Sari hadn't been born, and didn't end up with the key....during either the 50th stellar cycle in that lab, and in a stasis-coma, it would end up having Megatron going offline in his stasis-coma.

yeah as weird as it might seem, I think it could be possible that Megatron was either going to budding stage or he was carrying, and if he was carrying, the sparkling/hatchling possibly moved from his spark chamber and end up pulling a Athena.

so Megatron would be Zeus, and Sari would be Athena.

he is still long overdue for that Hatchling Shower.

picture if Alastor was told about that dark secret that Megatron isn't aware of, he might enjoy seeing the look on Megatron's face.

like picture him having a cake and gifts and everything, and having "It's A Girl & Techno-Organic!" on a banner.

Alastor congratulating Megatron on the birth of his daughter, could confuse the leader of the Decepticons.

and well if others can come to the whole fan headcanon theory about Megatron pulling a Zeus and him giving birth to Sari and Sari herself being like a Athena....

then some fans can believe that Optimus Prime is the Other Sire, just not the Carrier, well unless we are talking about TFA Shattered Glass Optimus....

for a Womech (a new way to call a Female Transformer who is also called a Femme...) I think they should be called Carers.

if a hatchling/sparkling has two Womechs as parents/creators, it would make sense if they are called Carers, but one of them would be the Carrier-Carer....

Sari could call Megatron, Dad-2....like how Twitch calls Wheeljack by the title Dad-2.

and if in Earthspark, Wheeljack and Ratchet made the Dinobots.

that would possibly mean that if Twitch ever found this out, she might start calling Grimlock and even viewing him as "big brother."

well Wheeljack had sons, now he has a daughter.

he isn't the only Mech who has a daughter that was born on Earth and is technically a Terran.

Sari may have started out as 100% Cybertronian, but she was technically born on Earth, and she had become half-human thanks to human DNA, plus it would mean she wouldn't just have the metal from her cybertronian half but also her human half as well.

because it turns out humans do have some form of metal in their bodies.

it's called Magnesium.....and for all we know the Cybertronians could be made up of some percent of Magnesium or something that is kind of like it.

so anyway, Sari is a Terran by not just her being made up of human elements but also because she was born on Earth.

so while she might have the same metal as any other Cybertronian, she may also have the Magnesium that is thanks to her human half.

anyway we know that some fans do OTP ship Megatron and Optimus together, so it being possible that Sari is both of their own daughter.

could be a surprise to some fans and who knows how it will make the OTP shippers feel.

those two might act like a old married couple already in Earthspark.

Optimus is still a bit of a Himbo Prime, well not everyone has to agree about that but that is how I had viewed him in Earthspark.

Soundwave from Earthspark, he still looks like he has Mom-Hips...

I still want to view Soundwave from TFA as being more of a Soundwave Jr., and Megatron based him off of a Soundwave he knew that could look like Soundwave from Transformers Prime but in TFA form.....which makes me view Megatron as a Simp.

so we could call Soundwave Sr. by his other name, Soundblaster if he and Soundwave Jr. (that Megatron created) are in the same room.

Soundwave Sr. can go by "Soundblaster" while the younger Soundwave Jr. can still be called Soundwave.

I wouldn't be surprised if Starscream called Megatron a Simp.

because he based Soundwave Jr. off of Soundwave Sr...

also technically, Soundwave Jr. and Sari share the same birthday.

and I'm still gonna view those two as siblings, and Sari being the big sister who regrets how she treated him before but becomes a very dangerously protective big sister if anyone dares to harm or try to make unwanted advances on her baby brother.

I don't care, I sib it.

once again when it comes to the different type of ships, there are some that you don't use the word "ship" in it because it will give the wrong idea.

for romantic ships, you use "I ship it"

but for platonic friendships and family, it is "I fam it" and even "I bud it"...

for Sari & Her Autobot friends who are like family, it would be "I fam it."

Shockwave from TFA being like a adoptive sire to Soundwave Jr. (or like better known as just Soundwave in TFA.)

would be the "I fam it."

Blitzwing and Husk being a Crossover ship....

would be a "I ship it."

I still want to ship Amethyst x Alastor, I'm weird for wanting to ship those two, they cannot be any more opposite. XD

well besides Amethyst being a Crystal Gem and Alastor being the Radio Demon.

I still feel like punching Samael.....he probably knows why I want to punch him but he knows I can't....I would probably hiss at him like a cat, or maybe like Husk if anyone tries to take away his booze.

I think it could be possible if someone tries to take his booze way from him, he might hiss...

and well besides wanting to punch him, even if I know it isn't possible...is it weird to have thoughts of wanting to flip him the double bird....?

even if it turns out he is Cain's Bio-Dad, he ain't the fraging boss of me....even if Cain (along with Seth) is my Ancestor.

I want to go live with Omni-Mom/Earthly Mother Goddess.

yeah me being weird when the weirdness causes me to have the very strange and weird thoughts of referring the Heavenly Father & Earthly Mother as "Omni-Dad and Omni-Mom"....

I was born weird, I might of been a accident (well not by my human parents choice to have me.) but it doesn't mean Archangel Samael is the boss of me.

I still want to give Lucifer the cold hands to face punishment, if he had waited until the balance between the Feminine and Masculine energies were fixed properly...

not saying he should of still done that rebellion thing, only he picked the worse slagging time to do that...

even if not everyone has to agree about it...

I'm still not a big fan of Toxic-Religious people, and there are some lines that can be crossed when a Toxic-Religious person becomes a Toxic Hazardous type....

it can be when the Toxic-Religious person becomes far worse than they were before.

anyway it is possible that Megatron was carrying in TFA, and the sparkling that was starting to grow, had moved from Megatron's spark chamber to his head....

thus, making Megatron the Zeus and Sari the Athena.

and it could be possible that Optimus is the Other Sire, and the "Allspark" had shot a light at the two in the middle when they were fighting on the ship, and caused a small part of Optimus's spark, a fragment to be transferred to Megatron.

so Sari's spark is made up of a fusion of fragment of those two's sparks.....which I guess I may have spoiled one of the chapters of my fan fics by saying that, but I'm pretty sure I already posted that chapter.

maybe Bumblebee was foreshadowing when he said Megatron eats protoforms, only I don't think that is true but it could still act as a foreshadowing from Sari being born from Megatron.

like how Athena from born from Zeus, so was Sari born the same way from Megatron. XD

I guess I never thought about it like that before until now.

anyway, I don't know if I have much to say about that weird dream.

it was just weird, and I guess interesting.

well at least it was different from that one dream I had about seeing Alastor and behind him was a Red Moon.

well at least we didn't end up like Star and Marco from SVTFOE.

still love the show, even though I don't agree about the scapegoating the magic for the mistakes that Star's Family had done, you know since Star and her Mom and their side of the family were the ones that misused it....well them and Solaria, who might turn out to be Star's distant aunt if it turns out Star and her side of the family are descendants of Solaria's older brother.

if Husk and Blitzwing dance during that Red Moon, and the lights hit them....it would bond their spark and soul.

I think it could be possible that humans might have sparks, but they are also called souls.

so we could view that Husk does have a spark, and like most former humans, who become sinner demons....they had magnesium in them.

so for all we know, in Transformers.....Humans, are descendants of Cybertronians that came to Earth....during the age which the Watcher Angels were suppose to have fallen for the Human Women and ended up having kids with them.

I'm going to view that as fan headcanon, that humans in Transformers are descendants of Cybertronians that ended up on Earth and even stayed there...

I'm weird and sometimes fan headcanons and theories will be weird.

weird idea that is coming to mind, is Husk being the descendant of Tigatron and Airazor, or like it turning out Husk is like Sari...

that Husk was born from Tigatron & Airazor's fusion form Tigerhawk, which once again makes them the first fusion relationship before Garnet of Steven Universe.

and while Tigerhawk was on Earth, they had ended up having a sparkling, and it was either Tigatron or Airazor who was carrying, and when they were in their fused form that is known as Tigerhawk...

their fusion form Tigerhawk ended up having the sparkling, that looks like how Sari look when she was a baby protoform.

the said sparkling of Tigerhawk, would then be found by a human couple, and one of them or both ends up touching the liquid metal body that was the size of a human baby...

one of them or both would touch it at the same time, get a shock and be out cold for a while before waking up to see the liquid metal body is replace by a human baby, which would later become Husk and end up meeting Alastor.

even if that idea is Fanon and Crossover type Fanon, the idea is just interesting to me.

I might add it in the story I'm writing that has to do with Sari.

I already am shipping Solus with Megatron's Mentor, which means Megatron has Two Moms.

I kind of want to view Solus as Megatron's Carrier...

which means that Megatronus Sr. is the Sire and Solus's Ex, while Megatron's Mentor is Solus's new Junxie.

Megatron has two Womechs as his Carers, and Megatronus Sr. isn't allowed to see his son.

and even if it is in a Crossover Fanon Timeline, Husk being the son of Tigatron and Airazor.

Tigatron, being like a cat, and Airazor being like a bird....

and Husk is a Anthropomorphic Cat with Wings, so of course I'm going to have the weird idea that in a Fanon Timeline he is Tigatron and Airazor's son.

well if a human couple found Husk's protoform self, and he got his DNA from them.....that means Husk has four parents.

even if they might not appear in the story where Blitzhusk started,

but if Tigatron and Airazor ended up in Sinner forms, Tigatron would be a Anthropomorphic Tiger and Airazor would be a Anthropomorphic Falcon or Hawk.

like they could willingly leave the well of all sparks, so they can go find and be at the same place as their son, who became half-human when a human couple found him when he was just born on Earth.

picture Airazor being so happy to see Husk that she hugs him to her chest, which might confuse Blitzwing, Angel and Alastor.

and Tigatron, her Junxie would have to tell her to let him go and stop treating him like a hatchling. XD

I think that weird crossover idea about Husk being born techno-organic and having died and never finding out he is half-human and he technically has four parents...

well who knows how Alastor will process that, or what Angel would say about it...

that idea about Tigatron and Airazor being Husk's parents, might be weirder than that dream I had about Husk.

it be funny and interesting if Airazor and Tigatron gave Blitzwing their blessing to become Junxies with Husk.

I know that might be a weird and strange idea of Husk being Airazor & Tigatron's parents, but it isn't canon and it is fanon...

and well, I don't know if I really do have much to say about that weird dream I had about Husk, it was just weird.

but it was the okay type of weird, plus it could be possible he had mistaken me for someone else and he might of had too much to drink.

some times dreams make no sense, even that one where I saw Alastor and a Red Moon was behind him.

who knows how he would react if he found out Husk's parents are Alien Robots, well only two of them, while the other two are humans.

Sari might have to explain to Angel how that works, if Angel and Blitzwing are the first to find out about Husk having both Cybertronian Parents and Human Parents. XD

I know it is possibly not likely that will happen in the story by Blitzy-Blitzwing, that is called Becoming a Demon.

but I still like the weird idea about Husk being a techno-organic like Sari, and he started out like a baby sparkling like her before his human parents found him and he absorbed their DNA and transformed into a baby human.

anyway in the next post after this, I'm going to talk about a FNAF theory.

and I rather not talk about the stuff that made me feel not great, even if not everyone might understand it.

anyway maybe sometime I will do a ship drawing of WaspLazuli.

and sorry if I really don't have much to say about that weird dream I had about Husk.

if Megatron x Optimus Prime became canon in one of the Transformers Timeline, it might make some fans happy.

just like how some fans were happy about Fizz x Ozzie being canon.

I know I was happy and still am, that Fizz x Ozzie is canon.

Ozzie reminded me of the whole my talking about how my ethereal wings going into flame mode when I get really mad.

well apparently they are suppose to hug around me when I get upset or nervous, so there is that too...can't really see them though.

and there were some stuff that Ozzie said in that new episode, that reminded me of some stuff that I believe is going on.

like possibly being on some kind of spell, but the way he talks about how he doesn't do artificial love.....it is still freaky how that reminded me of that.....

one of the things I notice, is that Ozzie seems to be a beef-cake, like for all we know Charlie's Dad could be hiding muscles and a beef-cake body as well.

I can't be the only one who notice that, right...?

anyway we all have weird dreams, and well when it comes to scary dreams or the type of dreams where you end up dream-walking because of the toxic-lust energy of someone else...

it's best to have a dream-catcher...

well, hope some like the crossover fanon idea about Husk being the son of Tigatron & Airazor...

I wish I could talk more about that weird dream about Husk, like what else that happen in it but I don't really remember much of it.

Alright, I know I "technically" already covered these two in an earlier ask awhile ago... buuuut as far as my updated thoughts are concerned, with S1 of Amazon's Hazbin concluded:

-Now, okay BEFORE the Cha*ggie fans get at me, hear me out! .w.;;

-Like, initially I did find Charlie & Vaggie an adorable lil pair from the initial Hazbin pilot: the tiny, grumpy protector gf (Vaggie) keeping her taller, goofball princess of a gf (Charlie) safe from harm-

Subtly supporting eachother through the aspiring dreams of the Hotel, esp as Vaggie often stays back to "man the fort" as Charlie takes care of other business (esp following into the main-released show)... but through the end of the upcoming Heaven conflicts in S1, working through those bumps in the road to strengthen their bond together 💜

...and yet, at the same time they just sadly dropped off a bit from my OTP-ranks as I kept watching... :( namely from the show keeping Vaggie more-or-less stuck in the "supportive love interest" role (literally all of her main/major musical moments being in-relation to loving & supporting Charlie... with even their later "lover's duet" being essentially borrowed from Charlie & her father's song? .x.;; ). Not to say its always bad to have a love interest-focused character, mind you... but if its to the point that's basically the entirety of spotlight we're gonna get from said character, it doesn't leave much story potential otherwise, y'know? 🤷‍♀️

-Which also leads me to this other point that I... really, reaaaaaally didn't like the whole "Vaggie is a former-exorcist angel" twist, in-relation to how much it threw a wrench into how her & Charlie's dynamic?? ._.

Like, Vaggie... my gal, whyyyyy would you NOT tell Charlie your secret, for all the literal years since you two have been together?? Sure, maybe if it was a case they had only just met/recently started dating, it'd be a different story... but the fact that Charlie spent SO long trying to make her redemption-Hotel dream a reality, confided in Vaggie (+the others) about her struggles w/ her dad Lucifer (aka: an angel), and was just overall such an open, loving & caring figure wanting to give everyone a chance... it just made me disappointed in Vaggie to be so untrusting of her own girlfriend 😔(+esp in letting Adam & Lute essentially walk all over her via-exposing that truth themselves... smh *sighs* 🤦‍♀️)

I could go on, but... yeaaaaah, that's basically about the gist of how I feel regarding Cha*ggie rn. Still a sweet pair on its own accord, and I'll always have my soft spot for it since their initial pilot debuts... but all-in-all, with Vaggie's stilted writing & other plot holes, they're just not a big OTP for me as of late 🤷‍♀️

A Year in the Life: January

Twelve vignettes from the married life of Tara Lewis and Emily Prentiss, written for the Year of the OTP writing challenge.

Prompt: Snow

Words: 891

Warnings: None. It is pure fluff.

Tara had always loved snow. She loved watching the graceful, delicate flakes gather into a fluffy white blanket on the ground that gleamed when the sun hit it. She loved the soft sound of snowflakes landing, and the satisfying crunch beneath her feet when she walked through it. She loved going outside to feel the sting of the cold air and then coming back inside to warm up with a mug of hot cocoa. When she was at Dartmouth, everyone was always complaining about New Hampshire winters, but Tara loved living in a place that was regularly covered in snow. When she lived in San Francisco, it never snowed, and winters just felt so incomplete. Coming back to the D.C. area meant coming back to a place that had real winters with snow, even if it didn’t snow very often or very heavily. Then she met Emily, and her favorite thing about snow became the way the white snowflakes looked against Emily’s jet-black hair. Of course, Emily’s hair was gray now, but she still looked every bit as angelic with snow falling around her.

It was nearly halfway through January, and Virginia still hadn’t gotten any snow. A balmy Christmas had been disappointing enough, but now the days were starting to get a little longer, and still not a single flake had fallen. It had rained plenty, but that just made Tara pout. It was almost comical to see the forty-nine-year-old, six-foot tall, Dartmouth-educated forensic psychologist turn into a little girl again over the prospect of a winter without any snow, but she just wanted one good snowfall before spring came around. There was a chance of snow overnight, but Tara didn’t want to get her hopes up. She’d already been disappointed too many times this winter. And so she went to sleep with low expectations and woke up to Emily snaking an arm around her torso and nuzzling against her neck.

“Tara, babe, guess what?” Emily murmured in her ear, “It snowed last night.”

Tara leapt out of bed to go look out the window, and sure enough, the neighborhood had been blanketed in two and a half inches of fresh snow. It was still early enough in the morning that the snow hadn’t been disturbed yet—just a few trails of paw prints and boot prints from dogs and their owners going out for their morning walks.

There was a noticeable spring in Tara’s step as she went downstairs to make breakfast, and she hummed as she poached the eggs and cut up the cantaloupe. Snow days always put her in a good mood. Even the prospect of shoveling the driveway couldn’t dim her enthusiasm; at least it would mean she’d be outside in the snow. Emily could see Tara looking out the window in anticipation as they sat down at the table to eat their breakfast. After three years of marriage, she knew better than to think she could hold Tara’s full attention the morning of the first snow of the season, but she still appreciated her wife’s efforts to sit patiently and make conversation as they ate.

“You want to go play in the snow, don’t you?” Emily finally said.

Tara nodded. “I know it’s childish—”

“So what?” Emily shrugged, “Sometimes it’s good to act like a big kid. I’ve got the dishes; you go outside and enjoy the snow.”

Tara bundled up in her coat, scarf, hat, and gloves, and she slipped her feet into her boots. She felt the cold wind hit her face as soon as she stepped outside, and she shivered from both excitement and the chill. The sound of snow crunching under her boots was music to her ears as she stepped off the front porch and into the yard, and she took in the sight of the neighborhood covered in snow—the gleaming white crystals covering the ground and the roofs, bushes and tree branches bending under the weight of their new blanket, icicles hanging from eaves like pendants on jewelry. She could hear the excited screams of neighborhood children sledding down the big hill behind the house, and it brought back memories of her own childhood snow days spent sledding with Gabriel. For a moment, she was transported back to West Point, and she was eleven years old again, hurtling down the biggest hill on the base as fast as her plastic sled would take her.

Her trip down memory lane was interrupted by a snowball suddenly hitting her in the back, and she turned around to see Emily grinning mischievously.

“Oh, you’re in trouble now, Prentiss!” she teased.

She picked up a handful of snow and started packing it into a snowball, and Emily shrieked and dashed off across the yard. Tara dropped her snowball and playfully chased after her wife, snow crunching beneath her boots as she ran. She caught up to Emily and wrapped her in a big bear hug.

“I’m glad you got your snow day, baby,” Emily said.

“I’m glad I get to spend it with you,” Tara replied.

She pulled Emily close and kissed her, letting the cold of the winter air mingle with the warmth of Emily’s touch. Every day they spent together was a gift, but a snow day spent with the woman she loved? Tara couldn’t imagine anything more perfect.
