If you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top favorite fics that you've written (feel free how much that you want to list)? Why they're special to you? Is there a specific inspiration when you wrote them?

I'll tell you, all my fics are special to me and most of the time, I find myself having fun writing them. Writing isn't just a hobby, but a way for me to release pent up feelings I have or express an idea that came to me.

To name a couple...

Beware of the Bunnies - It's the first fic I wrote for "if Miruko was Midoriya's mentor". It was fun writing that fic, especially when it's a fic for my two #1 faves. I honestly didn't expect the amount of attention I got for it!

Not Red, Black - I sometimes like branching out from writing warm-hearted, funny fics and this is one of those times. Another AU idea I had, but if Miruko and Midoriya were eldritch-like creatures and related. Unlike its prequel, this one stepped more in horror imagery and I think the direction the fic took.

Forbid a Woman from Being Great - Yes, another Miruko fic and one I actually wrote out of spite. When it comes to this fandom (as with any), is how double standard they can get. With Miruko, I have seem people hate her for being "too aggressive" or "too mean", but praise other characters for those same traits or even give excuses for their behavior. Or with fanservice, the same people who complain about it also thirst over the male characters getting bloody and shirtless. I don't hate characters like Dabi, Shigaraki or Hawks but I can't stomach how their fans act when it comes to Miruko or any other character really. It was actually a Hawks fan that irritated me enough to write this fic as well as get me out of the writing funk I was in.

An Absolute Menace - This is a fun little fic. It's part of a series of Class A and occasionally B partaking in antics. With this one, writing Koda as this troll was new, but fun.

Let's SK8 Over the Rainbow - This is actually a SK8 series that I wrote and it's still one of my favorites. It started off as a headcanon (Reki allowing Koyomi to paint his nails) and then spiraled into a collection of short stories themed around colors and I love colors so much. One of the fics, You're Lime Green Jell-O, I dove into expanding a character that only appeared once in SK8. Her name is Miki and she has green hair and I remember seeing her and going "You, you're getting some personality, a story, etc." Best decision ever. I just loved writing Miki and I think it was the first time I wrote a whole story for a character that only had two lines in canon.

Tu es le Moment Auquel J'appartiens - Another series I adore. I wanted to write some jealous Vanitas since I don't think I had seen a lot of Vanoé fics where he was the jealous one while Noé was more oblivious. Not at the time, I don't know about now since I haven't read a VNC fic in a long time. The title translates to "You are the moment I belong to" which is a line of lyrics from the anime's first ending song that I love so much.

It's the Pink Hair, Isn't It? - Do not get me wrong! I do love the AUs I see where Sukuna and Yuji are brothers, but the idea of this fic came from what if they were identical strangers and not related in the slightest. Even funnier, in the fic, Kenjaku and Suguru are siblings that look like twins, but Kenjaku is older. My favorite scenes probably have to be Kenjaku and Yuji interacting and Sukuna and Yuji meeting. I've also been cooking up a sequel so I can write more of Kenjaku and Suguru being siblings and Yuji's brothers and I do mean all nine older brothers. (I relate to Choso so much.)

Your Heartbeat Is My Comfort - Ever see a beautiful piece of fanart and you want to write a fic about it? That's what happened here. I saw this FushiIta art post here and it was like BAM! I had to write a fic. It was also another I didn't write something comedic, but more somber, bit of tragedy yet comfort in there.

Maybe Someday We'll Meet Again - I'm all for the Teacher Geto AU! However, this fic came from a what if scenario had Suguru and Yuji had met when they were younger and I always how Kenjaku was even aware of Suguru's technique. So I put both ideas together and thus this fic was born. It isn't dark, but little less comedic than others and I tried my hand at focusing on more of Yuji's strangeness and innocence here along with Suguru's character before he became a curse user.

You Are My Special - Again, another time I went for less comedy and fluff and tried with something else. I actually don't know how to categorize this one in terms of genre. SPECIALZ was stuck in my head for a long time and it got when I really started thinking about the lyrics and decided why not try writing something from Kenjaku's POV about Yuji? It may have took forever to write, but I'm glad I did. I actually wanted to write a companion piece of sorts but from Sukuna's POV about Yuji.

The Pink Sky and Cherry Blossoms - I actually just posted this fic and I'm glad I waited to answer this ask because of it. I was rereading the manga and came to Uro's fight with Ryu and Yuta and instantly fell in love with her character and thought about how would it have been like if Uro met my other favorite, Yuji? They have some similarities going on there and it was eye-opening writing those into this fic, especially with Uro's character. I wasn't around when that arc came out, so I didn't know how the fandom acted towards her, but for me, I just felt there's more to her than the surface. She's the Miruko of JJK to me as Yuji is the Izuku. Just as I would love for Miruko and Izuku to be a duo in a big sis-lil bro/mentor-mentee way, I love the same for Uro and Yuji.

The Craving That Paints Your Lips Red - The last fic I wrote for 2023 and a sequel to another fic, I wanted to try my hand at the horror again. But more tame, but still "Oh my gosh". I'm writing a post about it, but I have thoughts about Yuji and Sukuna's relationship and sometimes I have this feeling that Sukuna wants to corrupt Yuji, kind of like shape him to be the next him almost. Not for certain, but it's an idea that kind of struck me. For this fic, I wanted to explore a more horror fic side of Yuji housing the King of Curses. The best part of this fic for me is how I unintentionally stuck with the idea that Yuji keeps getting back up no matter how many times Sukuna tries to break him.

That list got longer than intended, but again, I have a lot of fics I have enjoyed writing! I'm glad to have talked about them and I thank you for asking! 💜

While watching Sk8 my siblings and I came up with this headcanon of sorts that the investigator lady was secretly really into roller derby. This turned into, "Hey, we really want a spin-off sapphic roller derby anime about her as a kind of mentor to Reki's sister, and maybe Langa's mom is also in it..." And of course a bunch of new characters because Sk8 has, like, five women in it or something.

Your au is obviously very different, but it reminded me of that and I love it! Excited to see what you do with it!

Headcanons for Kanako Nanjo

Kanako is the daughter of the most popular slash Sk8 ship, Matchablossom (Kojiro "Joe" Nanjo x Kaoru "Cherry Blossom" Sakurayashiki). She is blessed of only child in her family, no siblings nor cousins.

Bloom is Kanako's "S" name.

Her birthday, April 29th is Cherry Blossom Day in Japan.

Kanako is the only student who lived in another world and traveled to Twisted Wonderland while studying at the magic school. She has no experience about magic.

If she didn't attend RFA or another school after high school, she would prefer to work as an employee at her father's Italian restaurant, Sia la luce, or do chores at home. In addition, she has free time to practice skateboarding, or learn calligraphy.

She and Kimiko are watched as skateboard rivals, not friends. Like her daddy, Kanako wants to beef with Kimiko in "S" one day after they graduated from the college, NRC and RFA.

As the daughter of Matchablossom, Kanako has her own AI assistant, but it emits blue light and is named Carlos. Its voice is male version. In practice, she uses a normal skateboard instead of Carlos.

She have a deep bond with Carlos which makes some people (especially Ace and Ruggie) call her out on her weird behavior when it comes to this artificial intelligence.

She was bonded with a Sakura Pixie named Cherise. They have a common in calligraphy and skateboarding. They also have using AI assistant.

Kanako's aesthetics in room is traditionally Eastern style. On the portion of her study table and wardobe are designated of Italian style.

Kanako is a cool intellectual, with polite behaviors to customers and strangers, but oftens to have a slightly prickly toward people she pretty closely interacting to, especially the boys. She has a competitive side, during the races in school or at "S", as much she would beefs against her rival, Kimiko.

Despite this prickly exterior, however, she does truly trust and care for those who she considers her friends.

With a non-distinctive personality, Kanako doesn't like being alone. She also doesn't like seeing her family fight, even if they divorce suddenly.

Despite of this, she would argue endlessly with her father, Kaoru, and soon she would be crying emotionally, feeling there's a shadow over her core. To comforted her, Kaoru oftens ended up apologizing and giving her a plushie she had been used for sleep a hug, but the most is Kojiro help her to solve problems.

Kanako doesn't like the idea of merging her "S" self with her outer self, since her half-Japanese friend Shira calls her "Bloom" outside of the "S". It shows in her with a touch of professionalism and concern for the reputation of her students, and doesn't like to publicly admit to any party that she is the other side of the "S" member.

Though of that, Kanako has a mother mentality and appears as a sister figure, to students and children of the young age. She is pretty open-minded and kind towards those who have a problems trying to help them and giving an advice whatever she able to. She is also strongly care of her parents and loyal to them.

Kanako has a mischievous mode and teasing aspect of her entity, as she enjoys to tease and scare people, by telling scary stories.

As Kaoru's beauty inherited to her, Kanako was considered for the fairest lady in the Fairyland. Although she is just a mortal.

For her talents of cooking, Kanako likes to make bento and share for students as the way making friends. But those envious people throw as a waste and make others misunderstanding Kanako is try to poison them. Those bullies even once ruining her bento where they walk across nearby.

Kanako has been bully by them after she enrolling in RFA for no long. Luckily she occasionally was protected by Charisse, Viridian and people who support her away from them. Also helped by the professors and Headmistress Annabelle. If she is alone, Kanako would calming her mind and directly prickly to them.

Due to studied in RFA for 2 months, she try to make her own Magicam, known as "Delicacy Treats". This is a blog with all the recipes and pictures of her final creations.

anyone else notice that both kunikida doppo from bsd and sakurayashiki kaoru from sk8 are kinda similar like:

They both are shipped with/in love with guys with one similar feature (kaoru with ainosuke and kojiro, both of them have red eyes and kunikida's mostly either shipped with katai or dazai, both of whom have brown hair)

2. They both are like the moms of the group and adopted a bunch of gay teenagers

3. They are both get frustrated a lot.

4. The cause of both of their frustrations are the not-kids and the partner.

5. They both have long hair

6. They both have eye colours whichs are gold shaded (like gold but not really)

and they are the BEST CHARACTERS EVER.

so my headcanon is that these two are related, either they are siblings and kunikida just dyed his hair green and changed his name because he has a dangerous job and wants to keep his identity secret or kunikida is matchablossom's child who changed his name to protet his family.

either way im making a fic out of this.

Sk8 the Infinity Kyan Reki Headcanons

For one thing, Reki is an older brother, right? To three younger siblings. Now, personally, I only have two younger siblings and one of them is a male, but I know how stressful it is to be the oldest, even with the most supportive parents in the world. Which means that he's likely constantly looking for ways to escape his siblings and the lack of privacy that comes with being the oldest. From personal experience, that tends to lead to the development of hobbies. Now, I can't really remember why/how Reki got into skateboarding and I don't think that an age was expressly given to Koyomi, but they seem to be at least one or two years apart. Reki probably got into skateboarding, in part, to get away from his sister. I mean, yeah, he loved it, but it was also something that he could go do that his sister couldn't just quite yet.

Also! It's highly likely that Reki drinks some form of energy drink, such as coffee or Monster or caffeinated tea, quite often to deal with the energy drain that comes with the territory of being an older sibling. Siblings keep you up at night, whether they get random energy bursts that are hard to dispel or they get nightmares in the middle of the night that have them screaming and pleading to sleep in somebody else's bed or they simply just don't want to sleep. Being an older sibling means getting little to no sleep, especially when the siblings are much younger.

Another reason he has so much energy and so many little hyperfixations and quirks could be that he has ADHD. Now, you might say that this is unlikely because then he would be on meds or a diet to help, right? Except, wrong. In Japan, the percentage of children diagnosed with ADHD in Japan is somewhere around 7.7%, the diagnosis rate dropping to 1.65% once the threshold of adulthood is crossed. It is highly likely that Reki had ADHD and, with the amount of siblings he has, he was left undiagnosed because most of the time (at least from what I have seen and experienced), older siblings with ADHD are undiagnosed because they are seen as trying to match their siblings' energy instead of just having uncontrollable energy.

Ahhh ahhh ahh @neutronstarchild thank you SO MUCH for asking me about two of my favorites!

I don't get to talk about Todoroki Shoto enough; he is everything and I adore him (he was the character that brought me to BNHA and has kept me here, for six years now!). Apologies in advance; there will be spoilers!

Favorite thing about them

I love his story. He has all the makings of a tragic hero: abused by his father, lost his mother for many years, estranged family situation at home, but also, his father's golden child. Over the course of the manga, we see him learn to accept both of his quirks, as his own (not as his father's), and this makes him a stronger, more confident, more powerful hero. Watching him come into his own, especially in the battle against his brother, has been one of the best storylines Horikoshi has created.

Least favorite thing about them

This is so hard, because I really love him so much. But I think it takes him a long time to learn to have empathy; partially from his experiences growing up, and partially from his own overconfidence in his abilities. We see this in the provisional licensing exam, when he and Inasa just cannot get along, and Shoto insists that he can do do things without help. Once of the best parts of the extra lessons is that Shoto learns, truly, that he cannot do everything alone, and that he needs to learn to work with a variety of people (including Bakugo; see below).

Favorite Line

From the Camino Ward arc, to Izuku: "You made me late."

Bakugo Katsuki. I LOVE the amazing frenemy thing that has developed between them over the course of the series. Shoto is one of the few to manhandle Katsuki and get away with it, and he invited both Katsuki and Izuku to intern with him at Endeavor's agency. Katsuki has let Shoto in reluctantly, and they've become unlikely friends: one snarky, one deadpan, and we all reap the benefits.

OTP

Honestly, I ship Shoto with happiness, because the boy deserves love and inner peace after everything that he's been through. But I think that, of all the characters in the series, I still would vote for him with Yaomomo. They both come from elite hero families; even though Momo is not the product of a quirk marriage, she and Shoto are each uniquely equipped to face the pressures and the expectations that society holds for them. We don't get much into Momo's backstory, but I can imagine her having an equally tough upbringing, especially in terms of always having to strive for perfection, and I think they are good for each other, from that standpoint.

This is tough, because I have a pretty easy time imagining different ships (as you know 😅). But I think Izuku. I've read some tododeku works that I liked, but for me, I see them more as friends. And I like them a lot as friends, because I think Izuku needs someone to ground him, and Shoto does just that. They're besties, and I love that they are besties (although I stand by Katsuki as Shoto's brOTP because it is so damn entertaining).

Random Headcanon

After the dinner that Izuku and Katsuki have at the Todoroki household, Fuyumi realizes she doesn't know much about Shoto's favorite foods (zaru soba, girl; it's really just zaru soba). She gets Izuku's number from Katsuki (who wanted her tofu recipe), and the next time Shoto comes home, Fuyumi's made him zaru soba, and Natsuo sees how pleased Shoto is. He asks to learn how to make it, too, and it's a step further in healing the sibling relationship.

Unpopular Opinion

Not sure if this qualifies as "unpopular," but...I'm glad that Shoto failed his provisional licensing exam. I think it helped him grow, as both an individual and as a potential hero. For someone who had always been a step ahead, he needed to be shown that he, too, could fail, so that he would be able to overcome that challenge, and learn how to not fall short again. It's a moment that, I think, defines him going forward, for the rest of the series.

Song I Associate with Them: Leaders and Followers, Bad Religion. Thinking about the question of, what will Shoto do? His father is the Number One hero, and how does his story fit against his father's? Does he follow in his footsteps (and be a follower), or carve out his own path (and be a leader)? Or, does he find a middle ground?

Sexuality Headcanon: Okay, I'm be real with y'all for a second. When if comes to sexuality and gender headcanons, they're actually the last kind of headcanons I think about. I guess because even nowadays, I don't think about either like that about myself or at all. I guess they just are what they are!

Gender Headcanon: ⬆

A ship I have with said character: For Izuku, at this point, the ship I have is him and happiness. Honestly, for all the boys... they go through so much in their stories. So far, at least Tanjiro and Reki's stories ends on happy notes.

A BROTP I have with said character: Izuku should have a big sis figure and I nominate Miruko. Really like the relationship he has with the younger kids like Kota and Eri. I adore the relationship Tanjiro has with his sister, Nezuko and the Swordsmith Village Arc has me liking him and Muichiro and Genya. For Reki, his relationship with the rest of the crew. And for Yuji, I love duo him and his actual brother Choso makes. I also think him and Uro could get along well. Like, I need those two to meet.

A NOTP I have with said character: A couple, but just overall, I'm not into the whole adult with kid thing or relatives for any of them.

A random headcanon: My first JJK fic is actually based on the headcanon that Yuji has tiny fangs. Pair that with glowing eyes in the dark. Look, he can throw cars like it's nothing! For Izuku, I see him as an artistic person. He has tons of stationary he uses for his notes and uses many colors for them. Tanjiro, it's more kinda canon... I don't know... I headcanon that he definitely sung lullabies to his siblings like his mother. He stopped for a while when it was just him and Nezuko. He picks it back up after the whole Entertainment District situation. Sometimes, the others would catch him but he has yet to know this. I headcanon for Reki that he lets Koyomi paint nails. He likes seeing different colors on his nails and he's happy to see his sister find a creative way to express herself and wants to practice. Like with Yuji, this headcanon inspired my first fic for SK8.

General Opinion over said character: In my opinion, I think all four of them are the best characters in each of their series. Not because they're the protagonists. Because just who they are overall. Even if they were side characters, if everything about them is kept the same, I would still take to each of them. They are my sunshine, they are all precious to me, okay? I don't care for people's preferences for character favorites, but they're the characters that if I see slander or hear someone doesn't like them it's like "I don't know who hurt you but uh... how dare you!"

Let's be honest, being in the Shindo family is probably a neverending nightmare. You and your brother learned early in your life that you have no choice but to obey and serve your family.

I imagine that you're somewhere around Reki's and Langa's age

Your aunts treated you somewhat differently than they did with Ainosuke, since he is the firstborn boy, and while you had a little more freedom, they scarred you just like they tortured his body and soul in a different way

You got almost the same, except, it didn't break your mind. You know and you always knew that it was wrong, but they were your family, right? Where else could you go, alone?

Ainosuke's mind and spirit became more and more tangled as the years flew by. But there were you: his little sister who he loved dearly. Ainosuke might have a twisted kind of idea of love and affection, but he knew how much pain you went through.

Don't expect him to take your side, from his point of view, love is pain and torture, and while his heart aches that you seem unhappy about it, he won't consider your feelings 100% valid. He thinks you are just confused, and he is sure that with time, you will understand the love your aunts showing towards you.

But no matter how twisted he got, he would never, ever hurt you. You are one of the few people he would touch with affection and care, you see that gentle smile often on his face when he looks at you, his red eyes are glimmering in a different way.

If he is around, and something awful went down between you and your aunts, it's a safe bet that you can go and cry in his embrace while he would pet your head.

But you have to be prepared for his words. He wouldn't criticize you harshly but would have a very specific opinion.

"I know how confused you are now, y/n, but with time, you will understand how much we all love you."

"I was the same for a while, but I'm sure you will find what's important in all of this. And you know that you can always count on your brother."

If you would request some sister-brother bonding time from him, he would surely find some time in his tight schedule to bring you out for some fancy ice cream shop or to buy you some new clothes

he would actually love to go out and have a big shopping day with you

He would often be on your side at family gatherings, trying to guide you through social interactions between you and your aunts, making sure that you won't get them angry or annoyed

He would try his best to take care of you in his own way.

Miya Chinen Headcanons | Sk8 The Infinity

I love the ‘Found Family’ Trope in stories and writing. With that said, today, I present to you: Lil Brother!Miya Chinen, where Reader and Miya know each other, as Reader is his former babysitter. (For reference, Miya is 13 years old canonically, Reader is about 19 years of age.) Reader knows how to rollerblade, by the way. (yES, this part is self-insert, sue me.) Other than that, I’ve never written headcanons before. I’m going to write it in second-person P.O.V because that’s how a lot of headcanons that I read are written.

At the time you met Miya, he was 6 and you were 12.

Miya’s family lives two doors down from your home on a quiet street in a quaint neighborhood, and your parents have known Miya’s parents since they moved into that house.

He gets SO excited when his parents tell him that you’re coming over for the night to babysit him. He rushes out the door and bolts over to your house. When you open the door, after his frantic knocking, he jumps on you, saying: “Mom told me you’re babysitting me tonight! Will you bring your rollerblades?!”

As a child, Miya was lively and fun! He loved his friends, he loved school, and he loved to skate! When you’d babysit him, you’d always make a pinky promise to him that if he eats everything on his plate during dinner, he can show you the new skating trick he’s mastered.

He loves skating around the cul de sac with you after dinner. Everyone on the block always watches from their windows because they’re enthralled with watching the two of you skate, and laugh, and bond.

Sometimes, if he’s trying to learn a trick, he’ll ask if he can hold on to you for support (if it’s his first time doing it.) Other times, he’ll tell you to watch him because he’s definitely going to nail it this time!

If he slips up and falls, getting cuts and bruises when he lands, he doesn’t cry. He just brushes it off and continues. You rush over to him, being the concerned babysitter you are, and tell him perhaps to take a break. When he refuses, you have to point out that his leg is scraped and his wound needs to be cleaned.

He reluctantly gets off his skateboard and follows you into the house. You have him sit in the dining room while you get the first aid kit, and just as you’re about to apply a wet rag to his injury, he’s adamant that he can do it himself. If you ask him though, if he wants to do it himself, he looks away and crosses his arms, simply saying: “Well, you’re about to do it anyway, so you might as well…” When you’re done bandaging his leg, he avoids all eye contact with you, but you hear a small: “thanks.” come from him as he gets up out of the chair and walks back outside.

He’s never had someone so concerned about him and he’s starting to feel things toward you that he can’t quite place.

He’ll always get back on the skateboard. No skater is a good skater if they can’t take a fall.

When skating with him, is when you two get to talk. Not just small talk, but about life, your dreams, passions, interests, hobbies, skills, ETC. And he loves that time with you because he feels that his parents never really listen to what he has to say. So, having you around, it’s nice for him, because he has someone to connect with and talk to.

If it’s not too late in the evening, you’ll take him to the skatepark occasionally. Although he’s not fond of visiting the park, he finds it too noisy and too distracting. He prefers to stay around the street area near his home.

The rule is when the sun goes down, the two of you must retire for the night, as it’s harder for the cars to see. So, after your skating session, it’s off to play his favorite video games with him.

Sometimes, on the way inside, he voices the fact that he would like to try rollerblading, after watching you, but that’s about as far as the conversation goes. The next time you babysit him, you have a gift for him to try out. (Hopefully, they’re the right size.)

On the topic of gifts, that green and purple cat-like sweater with the ears and tail he wears-- he won’t admit it to anyone, but you got him that. And you bought a matching one for yourself.

When you sit down to play his video game, you can never quite understand how it’s played, but you pretend as you know. However, he can see right through it and he knows you do not know about what you’re doing. (He calls you a golem because he thinks you’re a pretty awesome babysitter, despite your drawbacks.) He tries to teach you, but you keep pushing all the wrong buttons, and eventually, you settle for just watching him play or watching television while he plays on the couch.

Sometimes if he can’t beat a level, despite how lacking you are, he’ll ask for your help. If you beat it by chance, he’ll let you paint his nails as a ‘thank you’ per se. He likes to be coordinated, so typically he’ll ask if you can paint his nails purple, black, white, or green. You’ll never get him to admit to it, but he loves when you paint his nails.

After video games and spa time, it’s time for bed. Before you’d tuck him in, he begs you to let him show you a YouTube Video of his favorite skater doing a cool trick.

However, it wasn’t all happy times. It was hard for you, watching Miya grow up. As time went on, you noticed that he seemed less content with skating and wasn’t the once happy and lively child he once was.

One night, while he’s getting ready to show you a video of his favorite skater, you ask him if something is happening at school. He tells you no, at the time. But later that night, he creeps down the stairs and sits quietly beside you on the couch. Neither of you says anything to the other until he breaks the silence and tells you that since he got good at skating, he’s lost numerous amount of friends. He also confides in you that he feels disconnected from his parents like they don’t understand much of what’s happening with him.

Following this confession, he requests you to keep this between just the two of you.

You pinky promise that this will stay between the two of you.

“Now that you know, you can’t leave me.” He declares.

This is the night that he truly begins to see you as a sibling figure, role model.

At present, when he is 13 years old and you’re 19 years old, you no longer have to babysit him, as he is old enough to look after himself. However, both of you still skate together when you have free time, which is rare for the two of you. (As he is busy practicing for Japan’s National Team and you are busy with college assignments and/or work.) Somehow, the neighbors still all come together after all these years to watch outside their windows and marvel.

Because of your close bond, he tells you the moment he joins ‘S’. And being his former babysitter, you’re on the fence about this ‘skating group,’ he called it. Because he is only 13 years of age and you’re not sure if this is a place for a kid so young.

But still, you keep his secret between the two of you.

He tends to use ‘S’ as an escape from his real-life as many of the other ‘S’ members do. Because he knows that you worry about him, he reassures you time and time again, that he’s safe there and has fun.

Now that he is 13 years old and has his phone, you better believe you’re one of the first people in his phone contacts. He even placed you as an emergency contact.

One day you receive a text message from him: “Hey! If you’re around at six pm, I want to show you what ‘S’ is about. Just so you know it’s safe and you can see how cool it is! Bring your rollerblades in a backpack.”

When you read this, it leaves you reeling. Not necessarily in a bad way, but you immediately take him up on his offer and pack your rollerblades in a bag for later.

When the time eventually rolls around, you meet up with him outside your home and tell his parents that the two of you are going to the skate park.

Usually, non-members aren’t allowed in, however, because Miya is a member and one (formerly) close with Adam, an exception is made for you.

Surprised by the sheer amount of skaters and people who’ve come to watch them, you quickly lose Miya in the crowd. Thankfully, he’s fast to grab your hand and drag you along to a few fellow skaters he’s come to be on good terms with.

Firstly, you notice a man with pink hair and a black face mask whom Miya refers to as ‘Mom’ to another man with green hair. You later find out that the man Miya mentioned as ‘Mom’ is named Cherry, and the one with green hair goes by Joe.

A few minutes later, two boys older than Miya, but younger than Cherry and Joe come running up to the four of you, waving with smiles on their faces. One of the boys has red hair and engulfs Miya in a bone-crushing hug, who you’d come to know as Reki, while the other, who has blue hair, stands quietly beside Joe and Cherry. Because he is so quiet, Miya is forced to introduce the two of you. You later find out he goes by ‘Snow’ at ‘S’, but his real name is Langa.

Treading in miserably behind them is a burly man with a black leather vest and eccentric face make-up. He holds a powerful presence and you find him to be a little intimidating. Just as you are about to step in front of Miya, separating him from the strange man, Miya calls him ‘Old Man Shadow’ and the man yells at him, stating that he is only 24 years old.

After you are introduced to the rest of the gang through Miya, you find it easiest to strike up a conversation with Joe and Cherry. Joe may strike you as a little creepy, as he frequently tries to flirt with you at first. But Cherry is there to keep him in line, telling you, that’s just his personality. After witnessing Cherry insult him by calling him a ‘Big Brain Gorilla’ you relax around the two of them and can strike up a meaningful conversation in between their banter with each other.

If Miya has a beef that night, he’ll ask if you’ll stay and watch him perform.

Please say you’ll stay.

Nervous when you watch him line up at the starting point, Cherry notices your distress and assures you that Miya will be fine.

When the race starts, you can’t help but feel your stomach drop as you see Miya and his opponent bolt off from the start and hop on their boards. Watching the big screen isn’t easing your nerves, but you can’t take your eyes off of it.

Nearing the end of the race, Miya pulls through and wins in a landslide. The butterflies in your stomach disappear as he skates around the bend and back to the group. When he arrives, you’re the first to run up to him and wrangle him into a hug, stating how proud you are of him. You laugh and say that he has improved since those days you’d skate around the block together. Reki ruffles his hair, and Joe and Cherry nod mutually, acknowledging his victory.

Langa, overhearing your comment decides to inquire about your relationship with Miya (And rather loudly too for someone usually so quiet,) now all the eyes of Cherry, Joe, Reki, and Shadow are on the two of you. As you open your mouth to speak, Miya cuts in: “Sibling. They’re… My sibling.”

He does not look at you when he says this. But he does get defensive toward the others as if he’s offended they even had to wonder.

The other brush it off though, asking if you skate. When you tell them you don’t skateboard, you can tell at least Reki is disappointed. But quickly add that you rollerblade instead, pulling them out of your bag, and Reki perks back up, saying how amazing that is while wondering aloud if it’s any similar to skateboarding.

For a little while, the five of you talk and laugh as the beef continues. Though, all of you are more engrossed in conversation with one another than watching what’s on the big screen. After the third beef, it is decided to celebrate Miya’s victory at Joe’s restaurant.

Because it’s late at night, and his restaurant is no longer open for a regular shift, it almost seems as if the restaurant is reserved for just the six of you.

Celebrating at the restaurant is more enjoyable than you’d thought it’d be. Initially against the idea of going to a stranger’s restaurant with a bunch of people you had just met that night, it proved to be rather fun, and it provided you an opportunity to see a new side of Miya.

You, Joe, and Cherry sit at the bar, while Shadow, Reki, Langa, and Miya sit close to each other at a booth across the restaurant.

Joe and Cherry drink some wine and offer you a glass, morally, you shouldn’t around the kids. So, you stick to munching on breadsticks that Joe put out. Later, you learn that Joe’s real name is Kojiro Nanjo and Cherry’s name is Kaoru Sakurayashiki. You also learn the two went to the same high school together and another founder of ‘S’, but they don’t say much else about that.

Miya plays games on his Nintendo Switch, with Reki and Langa watching over his shoulder and Shadow blushes at his phone.

This goes on for a few hours and at some point during the night, you decide to put on your matching cat sweater and throw a thumbs up to Miya who’s laughing with the two young boys.

It’s late in the night, ‘S’ is probably far closed down for the night. The party has died down, Reki and Langa talk quietly at another table in the corner of the restaurant while Miya has his head tucked between his arms on the table, sleeping soundly with his Nintendo Switch in one hand with a message on the screen that reads ‘Game Over’.

The night is growing late and Shadow who Cherry tells you is named Hiromi Higa, decides it is time to head home for the night. Langa and Reki catch a ride with him and now it is just Joe, Cherry, you, and Miya who is still asleep at the table.

You stay for a while longer, talking with Kojiro and Kaoru, losing track of the time, before deciding it’s probably best to be getting home.

Heading over to where Miya has fallen asleep, you gently tug the Nintendo device from his hand and power it off. Placing it in your bag, along with your rollerblades, sweater, and phone, before slinging it over your shoulder, you then scoop Miya up slowly, as not to wake him. One arm hooking under his legs and the other latching around his shoulders, you lift him and turn back to the two men sitting at the bar.

“I was nervous when Miya first told me he became involved in a skating group.” Looking down at Miya’s sleeping form in your arms, against your chest, you look to the two men with kindness. “When he invited me out tonight, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Homelife is… difficult for him, to say the least. Seeing him at ‘S’, showed me he enjoys himself just a little bit more here. He also appears to have found himself an amazing group of friends, mentors, and role models to guide him. Thank you for looking out for him, please continue to do so. He appreciates it more than you know despite his prickly demeanor.”

“He’s a good kid,” Joe says.

Turning back to the door and starting on your way, Kaoru’s voice rings out in the silent restaurant.

“You’re not his sibling, are you?”

Pausing in your tracks, you glance over your shoulder and smile, “I suppose you could say I’m part of that group as well.” You laugh slightly, “...Mom.” You add jokingly.

You continue to the door and exit the restaurant.

The streets are empty and quiet as you walk with a sleeping Miya in your arms

BONUS ENDING: Miya is a Lil Shit™, and he was just pretending to be asleep so he'd get carried.
