The game doesn't have a lot of opportunities for characters to be reassuring to Tav (understandable, as they're going through the least of anything, honestly), but luckily I have the power of Draw. Croissant's been going through it (by proxy)!

Steve likes to be useful. Thinks he has to offer something to everyone so that they have a reason to stick around. He tried to do his best in school to please his father but that soon failed, changing to show interest in his mother's hobbies and her work but she grew irritated and told him to go play instead of bothering her. His status in the community and in turn at school helped him keep a generous amount of friends through middle school and by high school he was between the legs of any girl who was pretty enough in the hopes they'd want him for more than what his dick had to offer.
Tommy was always there but he knew it was because of who he was, what he could get him and eventually he met Nancy and she liked him. Liked spending time with him and having sex or going on dates until suddenly she didn't. The one person he thought would stick around was gone and running around with the same guy he had been suspicious of the year before.
A few months after that he's got Billy Hargrove on the end of his dick moaning his name and singing him praise. Its good. Really good but the moment its over Billy's gone. Steve finally accepting he's worth nothing but a known family name and a good fuck.
That is until one night after they've finished up in the back of Billy's Camaro on some dirt road where the cops don't check they linger. Billy hands him a cigarette and they lean against the hood of Steve's car to look at the stars and its nice. Really nice and it keeps happening.
Billy doesn't pull on his jeans and slip out the back door anymore. He stays the night or they talk before he goes home, they share things and tell stories. Secrets. One of Billy's being how he knows Steve will find a girl and he just wants a heads up for when to stop coming over, that he too feels used and abandoned. Steve kisses him, tells him if he wants they can be a real thing and Billy is shocked, almost shoves him but then falls into Steve and agrees.
Finally someone doesn't want him for something. Billy just wants him and makes sure he knows that status means nothing to him, that sure a big dick and a guy who can use it is great but Steve is Steve and that's who he keeps coming back for.
Summer rolls around and Robin is teasing him about anything and everything. She's always thankful for the ride on a rainy day but never expects it. Always comes back from lunch on time and doesn't say anything if Steve is a few minutes late because he was talking to Billy on the payphone about their plans for the night. Robin calls him stupid and rolls her eyes at his comments about something she knows more about but never does she ask for anything of him. She's his friend and that's it.
No requests for a big house party or for him to set her up with his rich cousin or drive her out of town for something or ask him on a date for a reason he would find out later. He finally has a girl who doesn't want him for anything. She just wants a friend and finally Steve has one. He has people who like him for who he is not what he can offer.
Sure, one day they might go. Billy might dump him or worse, though he doubts it every time the thought comes up but for once Steve isn't scared of that happening anymore. He wants to be with them as much as he can, spend time with them because they all enjoy it not because they're trying to get something out of eachother.
He's finally loved. Genuinely loved.

THREE HOURS ABDUCTED
"Get moving, bitch." Jangmi is shoved forward, nearly stumbling on the first step because of it but she manages to catch herself - just. "Boss doesn't care if you're beaten and bruised by the time we get there, as long as you are still useable." A shiver runs down her spine at the word because she knows exactly what he means and what her old owner has in store for her.
Nobody notices anything as the hybrid slowly walks up the stairs of the private jet. They don't notice because either they don't care or they are paid to not notice, a mix of both maybe, and all Jangmi can think about is how anyone will be able to find her.
They'll search the city. The country. Yet, how are they going to find her if the trail runs cold at the airport? So many flights, how will they know?
A tear silently runs down her face as she holds back the sob that's hurting the back of her throat. Reality settling in as she's pushed towards a seat and forced down, belt done for her so that she's secure and can't run away - not that she would get far. She's escaped once before, she's been able to live a mostly peaceful life without being under his thumb but now that she's back, older, he's never going to let her go.
Not again.

FOUR HOURS MISSING
The club is filled with the two packs and the club workers as everyone is trying to get a handle on the situation. Jongin has been pacing up and down the floor, phone to his ear as he makes calls to other people he knows that could potentially help with finding Jangmi.
There was no clear scent once they had left the apartment complex, the cameras only catching the man's body due to him wearing a hoodie and mask so that he couldn't be identified. Irene has been calling in favours to try and get the car's location, something to give them an idea of where she could be. "They could be anywhere," he mutters to himself, looking at the time and trying to calculate how long it would take for them to have left the city in four hours. Jongin looks at the hand that lands on his arm, a form of comfort before he turns his head to look at Channie. "I should have been there... if I was at the apartment..."
"You didn't know..." Channie says, nervous. Scared. Jongin had already broken his hand when they lost Jangmi's scent, the bones still healing and will be healed soon but he's worried about how the older is taking this. "You couldn't-"
"I could have gone with her to the store." Jongin cuts him off, running his free hand through his hair for the umpteenth time since they've been here. "She asked yesterday if I wanted and I said I couldn't." His hand tightens on his phone, the sound of the device starting to crunch as he closes his fist causes Channie to quickly hold his hand so that he doesn't break it. "I could have changed things around but I didn't." His voice breaks, the thought of her in the clutches of that man again causing him to think of the worst things possible.
Jongin's phone rings and the small moment of vulnerability that he was about to show is pushed aside to quickly answer, walking over to one of the tables Irene had set up for them to use. Channie stands there, shaking slightly before Alice heads over to take his hand and wordlessly pull him towards the table where Chan is looking over some maps. "He's stressed, puppy." She says, kissing her friend on top of his head, "he's blaming himself for not being there. He doesn't know where she is and with the amount of blood that was at her place... he's scared that she could be dead."
"She's not." Chan says, not looking away and neither know whether he's actually talking to them or himself by the fact that he muttered it under his breath.
Everyone is on high alert, stressed and scared but the two wolves seem to be taking it harder than anyone else. They were the ones she trusted the most, the ones that she would go to when scared and alone, and now, they can't don't know where she is and if she's okay. Jongin, in particular, is taking it the hardest. He's been with Channie for the last week, staying with him and barely going back to his apartment. He blames himself the most for not being there, for not making more time for his best friend and for putting work above her.
He blames himself more than anything for not protecting her when he should have.
"The airport," Jongin calls out, not waiting for anyone to answer as he searches for his keys. "The car was seen at the airport." He's about to run out the door, he doesn't think about taking anyone with him because everyone is moving too slow. Jongin can't be late again, he can't risk missing her so he needs to go. Now. That's all he thinks about as he's heading out the door. A plan? The wolf doesn't need one. He's not going to waste time listening to what he should do, or letting Chan possibly try and talk him out of killing the man.
He's got to go before she's gone again.
"Chris," Irene calls out to her lover who is listening to what Chan is saying, indicating with her head for him to follow after Jongin while mouthing her thanks as he jogs after the other wolf. Channie is about to follow but Alice holds his hand, smiling softly as she shakes her head because he's better to stay here, safe.
He's already worried sick about one of the people he cares about - it's best not to add another.
After the two wolves had left, their only lead being followed up on, Irene heads into her office, sitting down at her desk and reaching for the locked drawer at the bottom. "I never thought I'd have to use this." She says softly to herself, opening it up and pulling out a small box. Irene had almost forgotten about The Inbetween, something Lucifer showed her when she survived the transition.
It had scared her then and it still scares her now but... if they need a Hail Mary, maybe one of them could provide one.
Tumblr media
FIVE HOURS MISSING
Jongin starts hitting the steering wheel in frustration at the person in front of him taking longer than they should be to pull into a car park. He's on edge, volatile, in a state that nobody hasn't seen him before and Chris would find enjoyment in this under any other circumstance.
"Old people."
"She's been in and out of that car park six times." Jongin snaps, his eye twitching as his knuckles turn white from the death grip he has on the steering wheel. "Hurry the fuck up!" He yells out the window, startling the old lady. It's a stark difference, the anger he's so easily letting show because Channie isn't there. He doesn't need to hold back which is both good and bad in this situation because it makes him unpredictable but also has him getting the job done. "Fucking hell."
"Yeah, scaring her will make her go faster." Chris deadpans as they wait a little longer before finally being able to find a park.
They rush inside, trying to find a scent but there are too many people. It took an hour to get to the airport from the club, another twenty minutes alone to find a car park and get to the terminal - it's been too long but Jongin won't admit it. He won't accept it. He's rushing through, calling out Jangmi's name as he turns every woman who looks like her from behind even though he knows they aren't who he's looking for.
While Jongin frantically searches, Chris walks over to speak to the security, watching the older wolf lose his mind as he slowly accepts that maybe, just maybe, they were too late. "The car you were looking for was rented from here and brought back two hours ago." The man says as he looks at his system, getting the details from the rental company and security footage from that time. "Is that her?" The screen is turned and Chris' lip curls as he sees the state Jangmi is in.
How could nobody have noticed her?
"Yo," Chris calls out, indicating for Jongin to come over to him. "Prepare yourself, man."
Jogging over, the wolf watches the guard flick through the footage, changing the cameras when they leave each view. He can see the staining of blood on her shirt, her tail tucked between her legs in fear and the way the man pushes her forward every few steps and with each one, he starts to growl, louder and louder.
She was there, she was there and scared and injured and absolutely nobody batted an eye. Airport security let them walk right through without checking anything, even while she was clearly still covered in blood - how the fuck did these idiots get a job if they aren't going to question anything? Jongin knows, logically he knows, that they would have been paid off but it doesn't make him feel any better about the situation he's faced with. The reality he now has to accept.
"It seems they were on a privately chartered flight and left-" There's a loud crash and everyone in the nearby vicinity freezes as they see the cause of it. Jongin, in a fit of anger, threw a sign at the nearest vending machine and is standing in place looking like he could kill someone.
He could and he will.

TEN HOURS ABDUCTED
She's sore, sticky, smelly and so incredibly sore but that doesn't stop her kidnapper from pulling her up out of her seat the moment they can stand up and forcing her towards the door. "Nearly home." He says, the smile in his voice making her shiver in disgust.
She doesn't know where she is. She knows from the time they've been in the air, she's not in Korea anymore and that means any chance, all chance of her being found is gone.
They'll try, she knows that. They'll try their hardest to find her but the world is a big place and how, how could they possibly know where she is when she doesn't even know. "Please... you're hurting me..." She sobs as he pushes her across the tarmac, the place where he keeps pushing starting to get sore from the force.
Crack! It's unexpected, her vision blacks out for a moment and all she feels is pain all over as she squeezes her eyes shut until it's over.
"That's hurting you. Now, get up and smile pretty, the boss is on the other side of that gate, waiting for you."

Pt.2
Le Number 17
TW: Issues with parents ig?
Villain lets out a breath they didn't know they were holding as they pull into their driveway. They get out and fumble with their keys, fitting them into the lock as fast as humanely possible.
All they want to do is collapse on the couch, but they're currently covered in a disgusting mixture of blood, most of which is not their own and sweat. But more importantly, they don't live alone, and they can't risk being seen in costume, even if everyone's asleep right now.
Or they were supposed to be asleep.
Villain's mother is sitting on the couch and at the sound of them coming inside, she snaps her book shut.
As she walks forward and looks them all-over, her face slowly hardens into a picture of pure and unbridled fury. Villain's train of thought consists of nothing but an infinite amount of rather filthy expletives that they would probably be disowned for ever using. How did she recognise them, even with the domino mask on?
"So this is what you've been doing? This is where you've been getting your money from?" She gestures to their costume. And her tone is disappointed, repulsed even. No sign of concern at all. Villain doesn't understand why they feel a sharp pain in their chest because of it.
"Well, I uh, I was actually at this party, lost track of time, and sorta broke curfew. Costume party, won second place for accuracy," they lie through their teeth, nervously rubbing the back of their neck.
"Cut the crap! I've had doubts when I saw the news, and I've tried to convince myself it wasn't true. But of course, you never fail to impress me," she spits coldly.
They feel their cheeks burn, and their heart skips a million beats. But they keep their expression level as they rip off their mask. Which was ultimately a terrible decision, considering how exposed they currently felt. "Mum, I'm really tired, can I just go clean up and turn in for the night, and maybe we can discuss my alter ego in the morning? Or preferably not at all." They mutter that last part under their breath.
"Oh, you think it's that simple? To know that I've been raising one of this city's worst criminals. I thought you had a legitimate job!"
"And is legitimacy really important when we almost got kicked out of this place? We were going to sell the car, God, we didn't even know how we were going to eat." They try their hardest to keep their cool, but they can't help the fact that some irritation sneaks into their tone.
"You've always been such a goddamn disappointment, but this? It's just extreme."
Villain's breathing becomes quicker and shallower, and it feels like an invisible hand has a vice-like grip around their throat, slowly choking them. They've always been the 'yes ma'am' child, the one who never talks back, studying late into the night to get perfect grades, pushing themselves through sports practice and babysitting practically raising their younger siblings. But it was never enough, and finally their mother had managed to push them to their limits.
"So you know my little secret," they hiss, their voice becoming dangerously low, using the same tone that terrified some of this city's strongest heroes.
"And what are you going to do about it? Kick me out of the house that I pay the rent for? If you're so concerned about legality, maybe you should've tried finding a job. You know full-well that no 'legitimate' job a college student can get would pay for anything." They walk forward slowly, eyes narrow as slits and expression stone-cold.
She backs away from them slowly. "You-you're a monster!" she screams, slapping them hard on the cheek and storming out of the room.
The sting of the hot shower water on their fresh wounds doesn't hurt at all compared to the sharp ache in their heart. They've never been struck before, and sure, they're used to being their mother's dumping ground, till they were knee-deep in her crap. But the words they'd just heard felt worse than being shot. And they've actually experienced the pain to be able to boast such a comparison.
Wiping away furiously at their teary eyes, they dry themselves off, bandage their wounds and get dressed in their pajamas. They. Should. Not. Care.
As they step into their room, they find a figure perched on their window sill, reading one of their favourite books. Hero.
"Get out of my house," they snap, not bothering to ask how their nemesis got in, their exhaustion overpowering their survival instincts.
"Well that was rude," Hero muses, closing their book and smiling slightly. "But after what I've just heard, I can't really blame ya." They get off the window sill.
"Just go to he-"
"I know a thing or two about parents that are never satisfied, even if you bend over backwards for them." They let out a long-suffering sigh, and they suddenly age years in a matter of seconds. They're only a year or two older than Villain themselves though.
They sit down on the surprisingly soft carpet, resting their back against the wall and they motion for Villain to come over.
"What do you want?"
They gesture to their lap, and even when they cock a confused eyebrow, they're still adamant about it.
So, that's how they find themselves lying on their enemy's lap, with Hero's fingers in their hair, nails gently scratching their scalp. They follow up with working away the knots in Villain's sore neck and shoulders, the criminal relaxing completely under their touch.
Not much later, they pick up their sleeping nemesis's form and tuck them into bed. They feel their heart flutter at the sight of how peaceful they look.
If only someone had been there to give them the same treatment when they'd needed it most.

Day 20!
Buffet
I wrote a story about me and my partner going to a buffet. She's labeled GF to protect her privacy. Lemme know what you think! Enjoy~❤️
----
Not even the sound of the radio could drown out Zach's belly. It had been rumbling the whole way to the buffet, shaking around in ravenous hunger. Zach had tried to muffle his snarling belly, but it was of no use, as GF could easily hear it, radio or not.
"Settle down in there, big boy." GF patted Zach's tummy. "We're almost there."
"I'm afraid there's no taming the hungry beast within." Zach flirted. "Once it gets going, it doesn't stop."
Zach couldn't keep up the flirtatious act for long though, as a low, trickling gurgle turned his face a deep shade of red. GF chuckled as she smiled at him.
Finally, they've arrived at the buffet. GF parked the car, and ruffled Zach's hair.
"Let's get you fed, cutie."
-
The buffet was a melting pot of almost every meal you can imagine. There was chicken, turkey, burgers, fries, pizza, dumplings, pasta, anything you could imagine, it was there.
Zach had to hug his belly tightly to prevent it from shaking in excitement.
"I'm getting the pizza first." GF said, grabbing a few slices to start off with. "What're you gonna get?"
"Gosh, I don't even know." Zach gazed longingly at the food before him. "Can you choose for me?"
"You already know the answer to that, baby! Let's get some chicken in you."
So the couple made their way to their booth with their first round of food. GF bit into her pizza and her eyes closed in pure bliss. Zach sunk his teeth into the chicken leg, and tore at it. Before they took a second bite, he looked over and noticed ranch on the table. Ecstatic, he drizzled ranch on the rest of his chicken, and began to munch at it some more.
About three rounds had passed. After their first meal, they had burgers and fries. Then after that, they had hills of succulent dumplings.
"Oof," GF rubbed her stomach as she sighed. "I might take a breather. How about you, babe?"
She didn't even need to ask. Zach was already eyeing the fettuccine alfredo.
"I'm still a little *URP*...hungry."
Zach blushed as their belch interrupted them.
"Excuse me.."
"You're always excused, silly." GF chuckled as she blushed too. "Here, don't get up, I'll get it for you."
So GF got the pasta for Zach, loaded with cheese, and sauce that was seasoned with the perfect amount of garlic and butter.
As they got back, GF had an idea.
"Can I feed you, honey?" She asked, blushing.
"I thought you'd never ask." Zach smiled, rubbing his plump middle.
The pasta tasted delicious. The creaminess of the sauce, along with the savory garlic sprinkled in there with a hint of lemon was almost orgasmic. But it was all the better being fed it all by his partner.
So then began a cycle. GF would get a plate of food, feed Zach, and repeat. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, steak, and even the desserts, like brownies, cake, cookies, and donuts. And before they even knew it, they had cleaned out the entire buffet of all their food. The employees were left in a state of shock. And with that, Zach was finally packed to the brim.
"You're so huge, babe." GF cooed as she rubbed the top part of Zach's belly, as the top part had folded over the table.
"Thank you." Zach purred. "I think it's *hic* time we head home."
"Agreed! Gotta rest after all the hard work you did stuffing yourself."
As GF began to walk to the exit, they noticed Zach wasn't following them.
"Honey?" Zach called. "I..I think I'm-"
"Stuck?" GF ran to his side, blushing.
"Y..yeah.." Zach whined. "Mmmph, what am I gonna do? I've never gotten stuck before.."
GF couldn't help but be flustered. The way he whined, the way his belly refused to let go of the table, his puppy dog eyes, it was all so cute.
"D..don't worry!" GF snapped out of her gazing. "Just grab my hand and I'll pull you out!"
"I'm too heavy but you can certainly try."
Zach grabbed her hand as she pulled with all her might. But it was almost no use. He was stuck in there real good. The employees watched in awe from a distance.
"Don't just stand there!" GF yelled to the employees. "Help us out here!"
The employees scattered frantically and grasped GF's other hand, as they all pulled. Finally, with one final pull, Zach slid out of the booth, and fell right on his plump ass.
"Babe!" GF rushed to him, worried. "Are you okay?" She could hear everything in his poor tummy thrash around nonstop. Wet blorps, trickling gurgles, uncomfortable groans.
Zach winced for a moment, and then..
*OOOOUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRP!*
"PHEW!" Zach sighed in relief. "I'm much better, sweetums."
"I'm so glad!" She hugged his voluptuous gut, as Zach hugged her back. They both laughed and kissed as they helped each other up, and walked out the door (thankfully not getting stuck again), leaving the employees, once again, speechless.

We are getting our share of stuff out of the stashes and caches and he's fighting us on it day and night at location and after and he's losing and he's going to be out and yeah he doesn't have any ships left for the most part it's trying to take them out he'll do what he's saying we have to try and go after him and stop him and he's a putz that's a loser
Bja
I have a couple announcements Trump is yelling threats against bja, but the announcements are important
-there are huge things happening here in Florida finally it happened because of the empire we think and what happened on Saturday and the siphon method was not the trigger it was going there and finding out their trapped and not having enough ships to supplement their Force and finding out that the ships are right there and they just have to modify them. A wonderful wonderful experience it shows that these people don't have leadership and they're quite daft and their Intel is very limited and it was led by Tommy f again who is a more competent fighter and my husband and I guess they're in trouble but he always is and the empire says they have a parallel and they have to because they're just getting beat up doing nothing and having people do nothing this is turning into a big battle between them no it's minor but it is one and the pseudo empire has an area too and believe it or not it's like Sarasota and part of Tampa and areas like Jacksonville and parts of the shoreline and they don't have a ton of area but they have some islands and they're going nuts and they have other places they have a headquarters but bja is going nuts on Australia and Trump is going outside Australia has a huge amount and their truck full from our clans and yeah you're an idiots they don't know what you're doing so this is going on now they're going to pull out probably trillions and trillions of these things and hundreds of trillions okay just it's going to be huge numbers they need to retrofit and they have to build Jennings and it's starting to build those engines right now and they're making five vehicles too A lot of them and our idea is respected because it's for low-level guys privates can have them and it would make them more effective so burning Man already has a few up there but they're going to make them up there it's not a bad idea it's going well for me now I hear that this hurdle had to be done first and it is really big it was Saturn and we got there just in time and he's trying to raise Giants and we need to raise them now and it's going to become a possibility phone is going down in warlocks are competing and all over the world at these locations and they're very very big giants several of them are getting to be right and I will know that it is one of Morocco and it is the one in burning Man and that's he and I and those are ours and you think of it like smog cuz that's a waste of time it's doing we are proceeding now and getting ready for all of this to happen and for some reason people think Biden will have him driving around and it is because of him having a vehicle at Castle and Tommy f has motivation and Ken and even Trump and it's all stupid s*** but it might work a little to help pay off a little debt so we're moving out and we're going to get some stuff done
Hera
Olympus
And we hear it on the radio too they're talking about Tom Cruise and he's trying to get a car over there and they've done this really want them to but they can't stop him and he has one it's kind of a s*** box but it's not that bad and it's much better than the van it looks like an old Ford Taurus because it is one it's not the one from South Carolina's got a square window and it says good I think those are newer and they are it's a 2008 or something still fairly old but decent quality and it'll be real surprise if that's what it is cuz sometimes it doesn't work anyway but usually forgets about it. It's kind of exciting for us because so much has been sitting I've been waiting and horrified at the max or just hideous and now they're getting attention and they need it and we're fighting them off the thorium and areas they think they found it in and people are fighting them over it now just in time it's going to take a little bit but now it will be faster and we really need them out but there's a big huge Plus what's been happening in the past few days and we're going to help out our son and Ariana and noada are going to help and proxima midnight and they're very happy to be mentioned and he says anytime and usually pops in a little bit and he's coming up pretty soon and his own planet is coming up. And it's kind of horrified and he's calling for a series of meetings in house and then out of house and we can follow what's happening and suggest changes to the meeting structure if you think we need that and his listening and it's his people too including his family and they're moving on it now and we are going forward the accelerated the schedule and he wants to know how he did that and they're looking at it too and yeah he's kind of pushy but these guys are push you too and he wants me in zigzag of course involved in all the meetings and they're going to do that couple of the key people so their Saturn they had players and Neptune and Uranus and they're moving out too and there's another planet or two in there and they're laughing and they know about it getting ready I'm impressed in satisfied but he says it comes from me and it's true and Freya and we needed to help it we're getting it now. I can't wait for the things to change this is misery
Thor Freya
Yeah you're going to be Giants it's going to be weird how you feel it all the time anyways and it's true but it's not going to suck as bad
...
There are certain things being said around here and not sure what it is no I know it's going to happen I think and the competing over these ships but kind of in a friendliest way which is weird and they have to start going down where foreigners are and stuff and it's way too small and Europe is small they get excluded a lot and a shark and they are sharp and they need to team up with people know what they're doing
Ken
We're still going to have issues but hopefully less this is a nightmare and he says if you're not having a war and you're taking those out but really we're having a war so yeah
Trump
We're fighting each other tooth and nail outside of here and it's bizarre
Bja
What are you doing differently out there
Zues Hera
Now I see what you're saying not really making any progress in doing something different and here there's a truth so I can get stuff and in several areas that's happening and we'll have to go after the big fellows I do follow what you're saying
Bja
I can't believe it it might happen hopefully in the in time
Trump
Olympus and we put our name down already but yeah we put it here and he's excited cuz things will change it's really hum right now ho hum

A bright smile graces your features as you tuck the little star-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches into a tiny container, just barely getting two of them to fit as you squish them down a tad bit in order to get the lid clipped on.
Then you grab a little tangerine and a cheese stick to drop into your lunch bag along with the sandwiches, counting the number of items aloud to yourself as they make themselves at home and then you zip it all up.
"Th-There we go!" You lift your lunch for the day in triumph.
Your phone startles you when it starts to ring, then you grapple in your purse to find it. You pull it out and answer right before the last ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey, girl! Are you ready to go? I'm downstairs." The voice of your best friend comes through the phone and you look at the clock on your microwave. You stare at the little black screen, confused as to why the time isn't showing up before remembering that you were never able to figure out how to display the clock when you bought the microwave three years ago. So, you hold your phone out to look at the time.
6:32
"Oh geez! I didn't r-realize the time. I'll be d-down in a minute, k?" You say, earning a lighthearted laugh from the girl on the other end.
"Take your time, hun. I'm not in any rush."
You thank her quickly and hang up, then you run to your room to grab your favorite pink cardigan and throw it on over your white shirt. As you're hurrying out and grabbing your lunch, you stumble and knock your knee into an open lower cabinet that you had forgotten to close the previous night after pulling a pan from it to make dinner.
"Ouch!" You hiss in pain and rub the sore spot, although it does nothing to ease the ache. Then you grab your purse and run outside, almost forgetting to lock the door. But you remember just in time and clumsily lock it before rushing down the stairs leading to the parking lot of your apartment complex.
Your best friend, Mina, is laughing. You can see her through the windshield as she waves to you. Lifting a hand to wave back, you don't realize in time that your arms are full. You drop your lunchbox and have to crouch to get it again, only taking up even more of your time.
But Mina finds it hilarious and tells you so as soon as you slide into the car and fumble with your seatbelt to get it buckled.
"Honestly, ___. I can't believe you're still single. If I wasn't straight as a board, I'd be head over heels for you and all your shenanigans." She states in a matter-of-fact tone as she pulls out of the parking spot.
A blush creeps up your neck and you try to laugh it off, "D-Don't be silly." You whisper, turning your gaze outside to look at the fluffy white clouds decorating the sky beautifully. You smile and lean your forehead against the glass as you imagine lying on a soft cloud, just drifting in the air.
"If you c-could go anywhere at all, where would y-you go?" You ask Mina suddenly, turning to her. Her eyes are focused on the road but she bites her lip in thought at your question. "Mm, probably Italy. What about you?" She's used to your sudden questions and ramblings, so she smiles when you start to go off.
"I'd wanna go up in the c-clouds. I wanna sit on one and maybe even see a r-rainbow up close! I wonder if I could slide down the rainbow..." Your brows furrow in deep thought. "Or would I f-fall?" You turn to her again and she glances over to see your signature puppy dog eyes that you use when you are either confused, upset, or want something.
Mina turns back to the road, a tiny ache in her heart that she hides with a bright smile, "Girl, you would ride that rainbow straight down into a pot of gold!"
"Really?" Your eyes widen and you feel your heart lift at the image.
She nods and you giggle happily, "You can come w-with me, Mina." You say confidently, your gaze turning back to the sky. "We can sleep in the clouds and slide down rainbows for the rest of f-forever."
"Sounds like a deal."
Tumblr media
By the time Mina pulls up to the school, you've discussed everything you'd do up in the clouds and what you'd eat when you're hungry (stardust, you've decided, is the best meal anyone could eat.)
You unbuckle and gather your things. Then you remember something and turn back to Mina, "Oh yeah. W-When are you leaving on your business trip?" You ask a tinge of sadness in your voice.
"This weekend," Mina says solemnly. "I'm sorry I won't be able to drive you for a while. I'll be gone for a month this time."
That makes your heart sting but you manage a small smile, "D-Don't worry about me. I can walk! I'm gonna m-miss you though."
"I'll miss you too, buttercup. We'll hang out this Friday night before I leave the next day. How about that?" Mina asks kindly.
You nod enthusiastically and she smiles, "Ok, get your butt in there before you're late! The bell rings in half an hour and you can't be late on a Monday." She urges you and you nod, hopping out of the car and thanking her again for the ride, reassuring her that you'll walk home from work today.
You blow her a kiss and she laughs as you turn and hurry into the school.
Tumblr media
You're all set up only a few minutes before the kids are supposed to arrive, so you go onto Pinterest and look through your fairytale boards, feeling a little spark of joy in your chest.
A couple of minutes later, the kids start streaming through the door, greeting you with the same amount of enthusiasm as you greet them. Your kiddos love you so much that all the other teachers are jealous and they let you know it every day. Of course, you have the sweetest kindergarteners and they're always the best for you.
"Hello, Teacher! Good morning Miss ___! Teacher, look at my new haircut!"
"Hi, Jina! Hello M-Minhhyuk! Kun, your new haircut l-looks so good!" All the kids have bright smiles on their faces by the time they've settled in their seats.
You always start the day off by getting everyone to stand and do a few stretches, then you sing the nursery rhymes you learned yesterday and start learning a new one. You honestly have as much fun as the kids during the school day.
"Ok, l-little ducklings, have a seat!" You get their attention and they immediately oblige. Next, is the alphabet that you guys have been working on since the beginning of the year. Every little one sings it perfectly all the way through and you give them a round of applause and they each get a little punch in their reward cards.
The rest of the day goes by smoothly, with only one temper tantrum thrown and that was resolved quickly.
It's nearing the end of the school day and the kids are all playing during their free time. You're sitting with Ae-Cha, a small and fairly quiet girl, playing with colorful blocks; the both of you competing to see who can build the highest tower. You've learned that she responds well to playing games when there isn't too much talking involved.
You're constantly glancing around the room to make sure everyone is safe and playing nicely and you're always pleased. They've all improved so much since the beginning of school back in September. It's June now and they've all learned their alphabet and how to play nicely with their new friends, along with so many other things. They've really made you so proud this year. You can even hear them reciting the alphabet and nursery rhymes to each other as they play.
Your heart warms at the sound of tiny voices filling the room as they sing. Then you glance at the clock and realize the bell will be ringing in a few minutes. So, you declare Ae-Cha the winner with her foot-high tower of blocks and she beams proudly. Then, you get up and clap three times, "One, two, th-three! Eyes on me!" You singsong, then smile when the kids immediately respond by clapping twice and shouting "One, two! Eyes on you!"
"G-Great attention today, everyone! Alright, the bell will ring soon. Who can tell me w-what that means? What are we doing n-now?" A few little hands go up and you point to the little boy that raised his first, "Yes, Joon Woo?"
"We...Uhm...time to clean up toys...Uhm..." You smile to encourage him and he finishes cutely, "Time uh, to clean up our toys and pack bags."
"Yes! Thank you, Joon Woo. It is t-time for us to clean up and make sure our bags are packed up and ready for h-home!"
The kids start to pick up their toys as you put on the cleaning song that you play every day for them. You all sing along until the room is all tidied and their bags are packed with their homework papers.
You always give them little mazes to do for homework to get their little brains to learn to concentrate, along with instructions on what to draw to show the class the next day. Today, their homework is an extremely easy maze, a coloring page with the alphabet and instructions to draw themselves doing their favorite activity. The kids always love drawing pictures and sharing them with the class and it's a good ice breaker for the shy ones at the beginning of the day.
You always have less and easier homework for the kids on Mondays and Fridays, it just seems fair to you that way. You also feel like it's good for kids to express themselves and be able to share what they like and dislike. You've found drawing helps with communication and creativity for the kids in your class.
The sound of the bell ringing makes a few of you jump, then you hurry to the door. "Alright, ducklings! T-Time to line up!" A few of the kids make quacking sounds as they line up, giggling and talking to their friends.
You smile and open up the door, holding it as the kids walk out in a straight line, some of them still quacking like little ducks.
You lead the kids to the front of the school and make sure they get into the correct line for the bus if they take it. You wave goodbye to them as the kids that take the bus climb on and they run to a window to wave back to you.
The rest of the kids that are left are soon picked up by their parents or siblings. You wave to Ae-Cha, the last student to be picked up. She smiles shyly and waves back before hurrying after her big sister.
After that, you go back to your classroom and finish a few things before packing up to go home. As you're leaving your classroom, you run into one of the other teachers coming from his own room.
"Oh, h-hello Mr. B-Baek!" You bow, missing the ugly sneer on his face as you smile brightly at him. He pushes his glasses further up his nose as he scrutinizes you with his beady little eyes. "You don't belong here, Miss ___." He snaps.
You look at him in confusion, "I-I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"I've waited the entire school year to say this to you. But now that we are nearing the end, I think you should know that you have no business being a teacher at this school. You ought to make the right decision to discontinue your work here." Mr. Baek watches your face fall with a sick sense of satisfaction.
"B-But, why?" You ask, still not understanding.
"First of all, you're inexperienced. You just got out of college last year, am I right?"
You nod uncertainly.
"You're still a child. Why should a twenty-two-year-old girl come marching in here and take a spot that should have been given to someone with more experience? And especially someone like you." He glares at you before turning on his heel and walking away briskly.
Someone like me? What does he mean by that?
You watch after him, feeling a tiny pinch in your chest. You aren't sure what he means, but whatever he's talking about, it sounds like he believes you shouldn't have become a teacher at all. At this school or another. You'll have to ask Mina later because you really have no idea where his rant came from.
Is there something wrong with you becoming a teacher?
You shake your head and laugh it off, "He's probably just had a bad day." You tell yourself as you make your way out of the school.
As you walk home, you sing quietly along with the song in your headphones, a little skip to your step.
You never notice the dark figure across the street, his eyes trained on your every move.
Tumblr media
One day earlier...
Jungkook groans as he tosses and turns in bed, searching for his phone to turn the alarm off. He finally finds it and hits dismiss, tossing the phone back down and rubbing his eyes with a tired yawn.
After another minute he sits up and looks out the window, frowning at the sun seeping in and pooling across his floor in a golden river. He stares at a small bird that lands on his windowsill until it flies away.
Jungkook yawns again and reaches up to rub his eyes for the second time. After a few minutes, he's finally able to drag himself out of bed and into the shower. He almost falls asleep again in there, but he manages to make it out after half an hour.
With a towel wrapped around his waist, he makes his way to the kitchen and grabs a bottle of soju that's sitting on his tiny dining table to take a small swig from, finishing off what he'd left last night after his third bottle right before he passed out in bed.
He sighs and grabs a bagel, searching for the cream cheese he swears he saw in his fridge last night. A small smile appears on his lips when he finds it. He snatches it and makes sloppy work of spreading it on his bagel before tossing the leftover trash onto his counter and plopping onto the couch, snarfing down the first half of his bagel in thirty seconds.
Jungkook sighs through his nose as he tiredly chews his breakfast, then he glances down and sees the file he'd left open on his coffee table last night. He swallows the bite he has in his mouth and leans forward to read over it.
Y/L/N Y/N...
Why is that name so familiar?
He shakes his head and flips the file closed, then he leans back on the couch, wanting to spend his Sunday relaxing before he has to get to work on this case. He isn't going to think about it again until tonight.
Jungkook settles down and lays his head on the back of the couch, closing his eyes and breathing deeply.
He won't think about it.
Jungkook lays there for a minute, then he opens his eyes and lifts his head, glaring at the closed file on the little table.
He grunts in annoyance and drops the other half of his bagel onto the table, grabbing the file angrily and sitting back again. He opens it and starts to reread everything he's read many times since Friday. There's just something that has felt off since he met with Mr. Ling, but he can't put his finger on what it is.
Jungkook squints at the name he's read a thousand times.
Y/L/N...Y/N...
"Ugh." He rolls his eyes, frustrated at not being able to remember where he's heard that name before. Then he looks at the occupation.
Teacher at Sunshine Kindergarten.
His brows furrow again, much like they have each time he's read this. He's never had a hit on a teacher before, let alone a Kindergarten teacher. That's such an odd target...
Most of his targets in the past have been sleazy business owners, rapists, leaders of gangs that have terrorized neighborhoods for years, even other hitmen. He's never had a problem with those jobs, but there's something about this one that's telling him to be careful.
Maybe it's because he knows nothing about his client, except for the large sum of money he must have due to the pay he's been promised. Other clients of his were more than happy to explain why they wanted him to do what he does. They never paid him until after the job was done, either.
That leads Jungkook to believe that this guy (or girl) is desperate for his services, convincing him to do it with payment before and after. Almost as if Jungkook would refuse after he found out who the target was...
Jungkook flips the page and scrutinizes the picture of the target.
She's very simple looking, Jungkook thinks. The girl in the picture is wearing a white flowy skirt with a blue blouse that covers her whole arms and white chunky tennis shoes. Her hair is in a low ponytail and it seems like she has headphones in as she walks down the street. There's a tiny smile on her face as if she's thinking about something that makes her happy.
Jungkook doesn't find her particularly beautiful, but she isn't ugly either. She's just very...
Simple...
Jungkook shakes his head, his eyes going over the photo and the girl's smile one more time. Maybe she's a double agent? Or a part of the mafia disguising herself as a school teacher?
He can't figure it out.
It doesn't matter much though, the job seems simple enough and the pay is more than he's ever gotten. After looking through everything once more, Jungkook closes the file and grabs his bagel, quickly eating it before getting up to get dressed for the day.
Tumblr media
That night, Jungkook lays out his outfit for the next day.
It's all black, but not suspicious-looking. After all these years, he's been able to design the perfect outfits to avoid attention being drawn to him and simple enough so that no one would think much of him if he were to catch anyone's attention.
It might seem simple, but he prides himself on being able to get each part of his job perfectly designed for each case he gets.
Heaven knows it's taken him years to accomplish.
After he's gotten that all figured out, he walks over to his closet and pulls out a small safe. Setting it on the bed, he swiftly unlocks it and looks inside. He pulls out a few things, examining each of them before he sets them one by one onto his bed. Once he's got the items all laid out, he steps back to look it all over.
"I should wait to decide..." Jungkook mumbles to himself. After a minute of staring at everything, he nods and gathers it all up, carefully putting it back into the safe and locking it tightly. Then he brings it back to his closet and shoves it into the darkest corner where it lives.
That can wait.
He pulls his phone out and checks the time.
11:45
"Damn it," Jungkook mutters. He had wanted to get some sleep earlier tonight since he would have to be awake early tomorrow.
He changes into some shorts, then he yanks his shirt off and immediately climbs into bed, not even bothering to shower or brush his teeth. He really couldn't care less with how tired he is. And he hasn't even started yet.
Tumblr media
His alarm blares at an ungodly hour as Jungkook groans loudly, resisting the temptation to chuck his phone across the room.
"I hate Mondays." He mutters angrily, setting his phone back on the nightstand far from gracefully.
He miserably drags himself out of bed and into the shower, going through his morning motions almost like a robot. His brain isn't fully awake and it's just on autopilot right now.
An hour later, he's just finishing his coffee, his eyes no longer squinting in exhaustion. Jungkook unceremoniously drops his coffee cup into the sink, promising himself he'll clean it up later, then he sighs as he grabs his black boots, walking to the couch to sit and pull them on. After he's done lacing them up, he grabs the file he's been avoiding like the plague since yesterday morning.
He mutters to himself, looking at the name on the page.
"I know that name."
Then he smacks his forehead to get himself to focus again. He stands up and folds the page with the girl's information and then her picture and tucks them into the inside pocket of his black jacket.
Time to get to work.
Tumblr media
Jungkook spots the girl almost instantly, the second she steps out of a black car. He glances at the driver, but can only see a person with shoulder length black hair waving. The girl from the picture has a bunch of things in her arms as she blows a kiss to the short-haired driver.
Jungkook has been here since six-thirty in the morning and just as he was beginning to think she called in sick for work, he's finally gotten a chance to see this girl in person. She looks exactly as he remembers from her picture...plain.
She's even wearing the same white skirt and chunky tennis shoes, although this time she has a different top. Her hair is in a high ponytail this time.
"Well, ___. Nice to meet you." Jungkook mutters, watching closely.
After a moment, the black car drives away as the girl scurries into the school, tripping on the last step before straightening herself out again, then disappearing from his sight.
Huh.
Jungkook stares at the door for another minute, then he makes his way to the stores nearby, knowing he's gonna have to wait until the girl leaves. School for the young kids typically gets out at around three-thirty. So, he'll have to be back here around then.
He's definitely going to need to find something to do to kill time.
Tumblr media
Jungkook heaves a sigh of relief when he hears the school bell finally ring.
He hurries from the clothes store he was browsing and down the street a block until he's almost across the street from the school. He finds a good spot where he can sift through some newspapers at a little stand and still have an eye on the school.
After a minute, he sees a long line of tiny children coming out from the school. The girl is with them and smiling brightly. Jungkook thinks he can hear some of the kids quacking like ducks. He tries not to look puzzled as he goes back to talking to the person working the paper stand. Jungkook makes small talk with the old man, still keeping an eye on the girl across the street as she waves to each child that leaves.
If she's some mafia boss disguised as a kindergarten teacher, she's one hell of a good actress.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" The old man inquires curiously.
Jungkook laughs softly and shakes his head, "No. I've been so busy with my work I never got the chance to date."
The man nods knowingly. They chat a bit more and Jungkook finds himself trying to balance talking to the man and watching the girl.
"Well, did you want to buy a paper for the day?"
Jungkook turns his gaze back to the old man and nods, "Yes. Two, please. My neighbor would probably enjoy one as well."
The old man laughs and nods, taking the money Jungkook hands him and giving him two papers, "What a kind young man you are. Someday you'll find a lovely young lady, don't you worry, son. You will realize that work is important, but love is even more so."
Jungkook just laughs and thanks the man, then he opens the paper as he slowly starts walking, pretending to read.
He stops at a bench and sits down to wait. The girl went back into the school a few minutes ago, hopefully, she won't be in there long.
Luck seems to be with him today, because, after only about five minutes, Jungkook sees a familiar white skirt flowing as she skips down the steps of the school.
He folds his paper carefully, tucking it into his back pocket. The girl puts little earbuds in and immediately starts to mouth the words of whatever song she's listening to. Jungkook tugs his black baseball cap down a little more as he follows on the other side of the street.
The girl has a bag decorated with cupcakes and cookies that bounces up and down as she dances a little.
What is she, twelve?
Jungkook watches in confusion as the girl stops to pet a dog, giggling when the puppy licks her hand. She straightens up, then after another minute, she seems to get distracted by something else.
Jungkook looks carefully and notices she's picked up a flower that was laying on the ground, seemingly trampled on. She gently holds it in her hands as she continues on her way. It goes on like this for the next fifteen minutes, the girl waving to people and smiling almost the whole way.
By the time she is walking up the steps to her apartment, Jungkook is dying to just get back home. That must have been the longest most annoying walk he's ever taken while tracking someone. The girl had stopped over twenty times, distracted by something else each time, he's sure of it.
Just to be sure, Jungkook lingers around the apartment building a little longer, but when it seems apparent that the girl is going to be staying there, he finally heads home.
Geez, Jungkook thinks in annoyance as he climbs the stairs that lead to his own apartment. His head is spinning with so many questions while he unlocks his door and yanks his boots off with a groan.
But when he plops down onto his bed in his tiny studio apartment, he just stares at the ceiling, his mind suddenly blank apart from one question.
Who in the hell would put a hit on this girl?

Family gathering!
*This is more of a headcanon list set in an unnamed modern AU revolving around Sasuke's family and their new year prep/celebration. Hope you enjoy it!
It's the week before Oshougatsu (New Years Day) and Fugaku is adamant that all preparations should be done in the proper order and with the utmost care. So of course he has divided the tasks amongst the family (and some extended family too, because no one is exempt). It's five days of errands and hectic cleaning and each one ends with the family (and whoever else got dragged into it) relaxing at night with food and some beer.
These preparations include:
Mikoto writes all of the Nengajo (postcards sent to distant relatives/acquaintances for the new year) she was in the calligraphy club in High School and her handwriting is immaculate. Itachi is the only other person allowed to help.
Sasuke and Itachi are in charge of scrubbing the floors and dusting all the walls/doors etc. They've done this ever since they were kids and it started off as a thing they did side by side to an outright competition of who can do it better (99% of this competition is one-sided). They once got in trouble for polishing the floor too much, the slick surface nearly killing their uncle.
Madara is the "cool uncle" that always brought gifts for Sasuke and Itachi while they were growing up. He gives the most 'otoshidama' (new year money), and made sure they got to try some beer before they were of age. He always brings large crates of 'mikkan' (mandarin oranges) that the whole family will enjoy throughout the holiday
On the years when Itachi doesn't make it home from university in time to help much with the prep Sasuke runs most of the errands (His mom is usually busy with cleaning, cooking, and managing their guests and Fugaku is always swamped at work, as it's one of the busiest times of the year).
So of course Suigetsu (Sasuke's best friend) comes along to 'help'
He's actually not that helpful though? and Sasuke is still rubbish at picking decorations, so it's a relief (mostly for Fugaku who is low key a stressed out dad who wants New years to be 'just so') when Sasuke starts dating Juugo and Juugo turns out to be an excellent food shopper/decoration picker.
Suigetsu is really good at cleaning out the car though, and he is great help with that.
Juugo very quickly becomes integrated into the family--mostly because he's so helpful around new year and Fugaku loves him for it.
Sometimes Fugaku's mother comes to stay with them for the holiday and brings a whole different type of chaos with her because she's spunky and energetic and likes to get into a bit of trouble (i.e. she's a crazy driver and the local authorities are terrified of her).
She loves doting on her grandchildren and always brings Sasuke his favorite type of senbei (rice cracker but better) and Itachi his favorite type of tea sweet. She and Sasuke are particularly close and she's most of the reason why Sasuke is so Sassy™
Her mochi is the best (and Fugaku's favorite part of new year when she is celebrating with them)
At the end of each day Madara or Fugaku (sometimes both) will start grilling yakitori and the family will sit outside and drink hot tea and beer while eating dinner
ok that's all I have time for but I had a ton of fun writing this up. Thanks for the message!!
Note: Okay before I go I'm imagining Karin to be Sasuke and Suigetsu's friend from high school, but couldn't figure out where to slot her in..... -_-" she's there though. Also the Fugaku in this unnamed AU is definitely more of a serious yet goofy Tired Dad who loves both his sons an insane amount...just wanted to add that real quick.
bye

Claire telling Dean about the first time they saw him killing the demon that had her at knifepoint she was like "maybe I really am not like other girls" and then they have that talk when minigolfing and then Claire's like "oh I'm NOT a girl" but they've kinda just spent 5 years not wanting to explain being a nonbinary lesbian.
Claire’s childhood was like a fucking russian nesting doll. Take apart the first one and there’s another, completely different one hiding inside. That kinda makes Claire the biggest one, all the fucked up pieces rattling around inside her.  She started to figure out she was… different, when she was still in that smallest nesting doll. The one with all the illustrated Bible stories and the Sunday School playdates and the holding hands to pray over the dinner table. But those days… well, when God was the man with the answers, all you had to do was close your eyes and shut your mouth.
She didn’t know then that God was gonna turn out to be the cause of all her problems.
After her dad left, it was hell. Her mom was on edge constantly and left her alone all the time. With only the memory of her dad “not her father” to keep her company. Not her father. Not her father. If she didn’t have a father, what the fuck was she? Who the fuck was she? An orphan, like Harry Potter? Hm, more like Percy Jackson, fatherless. Except without the cool powers. Or the friends.
Was it weird she related to guys so much?
She wanted to be a badass. She wanted to be like Angelina freaking Jolie in Tomb Raider. Or maybe she wanted to… okay, so she was different. Somehow. But all she could focus on that first year was trying not to let it show, and trying to keep her grades about failing so her mom wouldn’t cry so much.
And then her dad came home.
The first time Claire saw Dean Winchester, he was slitting a demon’s throat. The demon which, consequently, had just had her unnaturally strong arm wrapped around her neck. Claire fell to the ground and stumbled back, far enough to see the grim line of Dean’s mouth surrounded by stubble, watch the square of his shoulders march away from the demon like killing a monster was no big deal.
She wanted that.
She thought about it the whole car ride; it replayed in her head, mixed in with spurts of adrenaline that shot back through her veins like a finnicky garden hose. Her mom slumped next to her, and there was no doubt in Claire’s mind that she and her mom were very different people. And then there was Cas.
He asked her permission of course, a whisper in the back of her head like a friend checking on you at a sleepover. Quiet, comforting, familiar, startling. All at once. I can save your family. Let me help. Please, Claire, don’t be afraid. You’re not like other girls. You’re devout, you’re special. It’s in your blood. You and I, we could be the same.
And then she and Cas were the same, for a few moments. The pain was excruciating, the light was too much, but the cool certainty that flooded through her felt correct. Something about the angel’s… presence felt like her more than she felt like her. Not that she would ever tell Castiel that.
You’re not like other girls.
Fuck, there are some sentences you just don’t forget.
It’s nothing against them; it’s just a sin.
Hey new girl, where’d you get your outfit? The dumpster out back of Hot Topic?
You’re not like other girls.
Claire, I’ll be back for you; I promise.
A couple doll lives later, she was on her own. She’d finally left her last foster home, was no longer legally obligated to show up to the sweat-smelling hellish halls of high school, and she was going to find her mom.
The first thought she’d had when she saw Castiel was Dad, immediately followed by pain, and not from the freaking stitches in the back of her head. And then she saw Dean, which brought more anger, and a weird amount of insecurity she didn’t know what to do with.
Every time Dean trusts her with something, gives her a little bit of agency, it feels like victory. She finds herself mimicking his movements, his mannerisms, trying to tie her own curves and long hair into whatever the hell kind of swagger Dean Winchester has. She kinda likes the guy when he wasn’t being an axe-murdering dickwad. He’s kind of a dork.
“It's in the hole! It's in the hole! Bill Murray? ‘Caddyshack.’ It's a classic.”
Claire looks at him blankly. Wasn’t that from like… the 80s? Do things get more boring than golf in the 80s? “Never seen it. Not a fan.”
He takes it as a personal insult. “How dare you.”
“You done?”
“Yeah, I'm done. I'm done with your whole generation.”
Claire grins a little, happy that she got a rise out of the guy. She feels comfortable with Dean in a way she hasn’t felt with anybody in a long time, and she’s pretty sure that’s for a reason. She sinks her next putt and turns to Dean. “Did you ... did you see that? Did that go in the hole? I wasn't watching. Did the ball go in the hole?”
He bitches and pouts. “‘Happy Gilmore.’ Well played.”
Claire preens. “Thank you. Mm.” She’s so pleased with herself she doesn’t even go after Dean for mimicking her after she walks away, even though she can hear him. Let the wounded pride simmer.
“You’ve got to watch ‘Caddyshack,’ kid, seriously. It’s a fucking fantastic movie.” She gives him a look. He tries again, holding his putter as he gesticulates. “And don’t ask me why, but Bill Murray in that movie? I was jealous as hell of him.”
They snort. “Of Bill Murray?”
He nods, lines up another shot through a tiny windmill. It bounces straight back to him and he swears. “Fuck. Yeah, of Bill Murray. Boots, rolled up cargo pants, t-shirt, even the dumbass bucket hat. I wanted his gender shit so bad.”
Claire blinks. Dean’s made his shot and he’s looking at her expectantly. They reluctantly step up to the plate. “That’s a thing?” That’s what it is. That’s what it is; that’s what it is. Several pieces she’d been figuring out all slot into place.
Dean laughs when the windmill flings Claire’s ball into the decorative rocks. She flips him off, and he laughs harder. “Mulligan. That didn’t count.”
“Oh, nuh-uh, you can’t do that.”
“Everybody gets a mulligan! Sacred rule of minigolf, old man, and you know it. Fuck off and give me my ball.” He hands it over and she putts again. Hole in one, motherfucker. Ha.
They have a rousing game of mini-golf, and then Claire really becomes an orphan. They’re on their own again. But this time, with a dorky little stuffed animal in her duffle, a knife in her boot, and a little more figured out, she feels a little less alone.

run to the shadows
Tumblr media
pairing: soobin x reader
genre: angst (?), supernatural au
word count: 5.1k
warnings: swearing, blood and wounds, character death
synopsis: the city is on a lockdown. people with uncontrollable elemental powers are springing up left and right. the government is trying to capture every single elemental in the guise of protecting the citizens. much to your dismay, your fiancé, soobin, just had to be one of them.
Tumblr media
The rays of the sunset left a warm sensation on your skin. The gentle breeze passing by gives you a moment of coolness that vanished as fast as it came. Children's laughter could be heard close by, their parents watching over them from afar. Sometimes, someone would pass by and greet you with a smile before continuing their way beside the calm waters of the lake. You look on to the horizon and gaze upon the direction where the sun had set, holding on to this scenic view one last time.
The blanket of the night sky soon came, a reminder that you had to quickly return home. You leave the lakeside with a heavy feeling on your chest— one that you can't seem to shake off. But there were more important matters to be dealt with.
"Hurry inside, sweetie, before the raiders come." You hear a mother say, ushering her child inside their car, her tone laced with worry as she made sure the doors were closed shut. "We don't want to be around when they capture the bad people."
Capturing bad people, huh. Even hearing the phrase was distasteful. One wouldn't expect for a government that's supposed to protect its citizens to go around doing something as inhumane as capturing someone and imprisoning them despite having done nothing wrong, and branding these victims as bad people just because they were forced into their situation.
Your thoughts fill with worry and the heavy feeling in your chest worsens. You're not sure whether this was the usual looming threat of having your life endangered, or the effect of having left your fiance's side after a huge argument. Part of you knows it's the latter.
"Soobin.." You sigh, your chest not feeling any lighter as you did. Scenes from earlier replay in your mind and you silently wish things had gone differently.
The walk home was quiet. Not a lot of people were wandering around at night anymore, even the questionable individuals that once littered the darker streets and alleys. Whether this was a good thing or not was up to how much the whole situation affected an individual.
In the more populated neighborhoods, the lights would be dimmed, the curtains drawn, the gates closed, and the windows locked shut. The clean asphalt beneath your feet soon met with bits and pieces of rubbish as you reach the farthest back of the neighborhood. The place was dark with most of the streetlight broken. You'd think that after a year, at least most of them would've been fixed but the government had a more important investment to focus on than providing their citizens the bare minimum security they at least deserve.
A creaking sound from the dark alerts your senses. Your hands come up in front as balled fists as you take a defensive stance, reminding yourself that if ever worse comes to worst, you had a dagger hidden in your pocket.
You make a quick scan of your surroundings, taking notice of every minute movement and sound your senses could pick up. No one. You'd like to think you were just being paranoid but you never know what might happen. Your heart beats faster in your chest as you go through ever possible scenario that might happen to you, or worse— to Soobin.
"Come out and face me!" You scream. Even if no one was there, no other person was living in this neighborhood that would bother to report a screaming maniac marching around their streets.
A few minutes pass and after checking each and every nearby nook and cranny, you slowly let your guard down. Perhaps you truly were just being paranoid. But who could blame you? The past few months hadn't exactly been the best. You've been in a lot of awful situations from having to hide for a week inside an abandoned theme park cave to nearly beating someone to death over food rations if Soobin hadn't stopped you.
It all started when one day, a phenomenon struck the city. Hundreds of people were turning up, reporting that they've been experiencing strange things with their body and surroundings. Eventually, it was discovered that they had somehow acquired the ability to manipulate the elements. The whole situation looked like it came straight out of a fantasy novel. But this wasn't your average story where the gifted ones get to go on crazy adventures to fulfill or prevent some messed up destiny. Quite the opposite actually.
The citizens with newfound abilities were tracked down to the ends of the city and captured. The government released a statement on how these citizens are no longer human. They were branded as monsters with uncontrollable powers that were planted in the city to harm the citizens, and eventually, the world.
They proposed a solution to lockdown the city in order to prevent the escape of these monstrous individuals and that they'd clear the streets at night from any and every individual who is suspected of possessing such abilities. Soon after, people were disappearing left and right. No one had been spared. They'd captured adults, teenagers, the elderly, and even children as young as a year old, and brought them into the holding facilities. Reports state that they were simply being held captive to enforce the necessary safety measures, but you knew all too well that they didn't stop there.
Experiments. They'd never admit to it but those that were heavily affected by these regulations knew that behind closed doors were vicious experiments being held in order to find a way to utilize these abilities for the government's advantage. One way to avoid this fate was to keep out of the prying eyes of the raiders, the ones in charge of finding and capturing the ability users.
"Y/N?"
Your eyes widen and you snap back to your senses, whirling around to see a familiar pair of eyes staring back at you.
"Y/N.." In an instant, you were engulfed in a tight hug. You feel his warmth slowly being passed down to you and for a brief moment, you allow yourself to melt in his arms. "You're safe.. I was so worried.."
You look up at none other than your fiancé, Soobin. Now that he was closer, you could see the tears threatening to fall from his eyes. It was clear that he'd been worried sick, and you were the same. A feeling of regret washes over you for ever leaving his side and causing him this much worry.
"Soobin, I—" You pause, forcing yourself out of his arms to look at the surroundings. "Let's talk inside. It's not safe out here."
Soobin nods, adjusting his hoodie as the two of you walk back inside your temporary base. The two of you had escaped into the lesser populated areas of the city to avoid public eye. You couldn't risk being seen by anyone at this state. Despite the government's unprecedented tactics, you hated to admit that they were right about one thing— most of the ability users couldn't control their powers, and unfortunately, Soobin was one of them.
Tumblr media
Soobin paces back and forth in the living room, his mind racing with thoughts of worry. What if you had gotten mixed up into something dangerous while you were out? What if they had falsely accused you as an ability user? He wanted to scream the frustration out of his system, but he knew it wouldn't do him any good.
He regretted it. He regretted ever arguing with you in the first place. It wasn't even worth the risk of endangering both of you.
Soobin hated his newfound powers, hated how he had to hide in the slums of the city to stay alive, hated how he could never go out to see the world without putting his life at risk, and hated how you could only do so much to console him. How would you, an ordinary person, be able to relate to his worries? Eventually, he grew envious of how you could leave the house even if it was only to purchase groceries at a nearby store, and how you could bask in the warmth of the sun without having to worry about your abilities going berserk. All that pent-up emotion ended up with a huge fight. And eventually, you stormed out of the house.
Soobin had only come to terms with himself after watching you yell out in frustration before slamming the door behind and leaving.
It was you who had been by his side throughout everything. You didn't have a reason to hide, but you moved into the back of the city with him and catered to his every need. You held his hand at night when he feared he might go crazy in his sleep, and had been patient and understanding with him whenever his powers went haywire. You had protected him even when he insisted on being able to protect himself, and went to vast lengths to help him make it through until the end. Not once did you waver in front of him, and he felt so ashamed. How could he have let all those negative thoughts cloud his judgement?
Even now that he had risked his life and went outside to find you, he felt the regret deep inside his chest. Even now that he held you safely in his arms in the middle of the street, he couldn't let it go.
"Let's talk inside. It's not safe here."
Inside. It was for the best. "Okay."
It felt safer inside the house. The dim light coming from the living room lamp, thick walls, and drawn curtains brought on a familiar sense of comfort. Soobin had taken off his hoodie and tossed it aside, leaving him in his favorite loose white shirt. One thing you've come to notice even before your engagement was that he wore that specific shirt whenever he wanted some room to breathe. You hoped that he's had a good amount of that when you'd left him alone earlier.
Tumblr media
Soobin makes himself comfortable on the couch next to the window, patting the spot next to him. You refrain from taking his offer. "Soobin, about earlier.."
“I'm sorry.” / “I'm sorry.”
Soobin looks up at you, blinking, and the two of you burst into laughter. After a while, he clears his throat and speaks up. You lean against the counter to hear him out. "You know, it's funny. Earlier I had this whole apology planned out in my head explaining everything— why I said all that stuff, and how I regret every single word. I wanted you to maybe understand where I'm coming from and how sorry I am but.." His eyes once again meet yours and as if a silent message had been conveyed, Soobin smiles. "Somehow, I feel like you already know."
You smile back, finally taking up his offer and plopping down right next to him on the couch. You rest your head on Soobin's shoulder, and he does the same. The warmth of his hand spreads throughout yours as he interlocks your fingers, bringing them close to your faces. The edge of your engagement rings glisten against the dim light, a promise of eternity with each other that would soon be sealed. An eternity in each other's embrace.
Before all of this had started, you had spent countless nights like this with Soobin, balled up together on the sofa or bed, and enjoying the warmth in each other's arms. Now, you'd barely spent the nights together. Rules had been established to keep you two safe from the prying eyes of the government, and naturally, there were also rules you'd agreed on to keep each other safe. One of those rules was that you couldn't sleep on the same bed. Soobin had no control of his powers and feared that he might hurt you in his sleep. You had tried it out once during the first week, ignoring the possibility. It didn't end well.
A knock on the front door breaks the silence in the room.
Soobin pulls you closer in his arms, an uneasy feeling settling in his stomach. A frown creeps up his lips as he leaned in closer to your face. “I know what you're thinking but please listen to me—”
“Soobin..” You look him in the eyes, holding his hand tighter. “I heard a noise on the way back. I think I might have been followed.”
Another knock sounds from the door, sounding more impatient than before
“In that case, I want you to stay behind.” Soobin says, letting go of your hand as he gets up from the couch.
“What? Why?” You follow right after, blocking Soobin's path to the door.
“You said you were being followed. If it's a raider then it couldn't have followed you to get to me when I haven't been outside in a long time.” Soobin sighs, walking around you. It wasn't news that raiders would falsely accuse random citizens as ability users for some short-term glory of having allegedly protected the city from these monsters. “I have a bad feeling about this, Y/N. I don't want you getting hurt.”
“And I don't want them to capture you.”
“They won't.”
“Soobin, please listen to me. You can't control your abilities yet. What if—” You were about to run after him when you notice you couldn't move. You look down and see that your feet had been bound to the ground by chains of ice. Since when had Soobin gained this much control over his powers? was the first thought that came to mind. He'd been training for a while but the results have been rather unhelpful. But not this time.
Soobin wasn't sure when he'd started feeling confident about his abilities, but he's sure of one thing. He'd use his abilities to protect what matters to him the most: you.
“Is someone there?” He asks before opening the door, heart thumping in his chest as he waited for an answer.
“Raid officer. I'm here to have a word, if I may.”
“In the middle of the night?”
“Justice sleeps for no one, sir.”
Justice. Soobin holds his breath as he opens the door, preparing himself for the worst. He comes face to face with a young man around his age— blond hair, clean and kempt raider uniform— he didn't look like the type to be fooled easily.
“What brings you here this late at night, officer?”
The officer smiles, straightening himself up. “Sorry for the disturbance. I'm Officer Kang Taehyun, and that's my partner, Choi Yeonjun.” He points at a pink haired officer with unkempt uniform, leaning against their motorbikes. “We'd like to ask you a few questions.”
Soobin agrees to their request, fully stepping out of the house.
“Full name?”
"That's.." Soobin hesitates, pondering whether he should tell him his real name or not. He notices the folder Taehyun was holding, and figured that the Officer might have already known his identity. He was testing him. “Choi Soobin.”
“A pleasure meeting you, Mr. Choi Soobin. You live alone?”
“Yes.”
The officer raises a brow. “I see. Any visitors over? A relative, or perhaps a lover?”
Soobin's heart races. He could spot the officer's partner at the back, preparing hid gear. He didn't like where this was going. “No.”
"Is that so?" The officer, Taehyun, breaks into a smile— cold, unsettling. He wonders if this smile was the last others have seen before getting sent straight to the facilities.
"This side of the neighborhood is pretty quiet, don't you think? No one else is living here except you."
"This place certainly has its charms." Soobin shrugs, trying his best to drive away suspicion. "I don't mind living alone and the groceries aren't that far from here anyway."
Officer Yeonjun steps in, gear in place and face unreadable. He nudges Taehyun to the side and takes over the conversation. "Listen, we'll make this quick for you. My partner and I spotted a suspicious woman walking around this area. No one else is living here except you. Do you know anything about her?"
There it was. Soobin supposes he couldn't have avoided the question any longer. "No, I don't. I haven't seen anyone nearby either. I was here at home the entire night, making dinner."
"I see." Yeonjun nods, his hand slowly reaching for something in his pocket. "You seem like a pretty agreeable guy. I'm sure you wouldn't mind if we checked inside to see if you're telling the truth."
"Not at all." Soobin grins, opening the door wider. It's not like he could refuse them in the first place. Raiders had been given the authority to search any premises without a warrant. He just hopes you had half a mind to hide yourself by now.
And you did. Both of you had prepared the house for circumstances like this. There was a trap door in the living room where you could hide in the case of an emergency. Soobin had melted the ice once Officer Yeonjun stepped in, and that was enough of a signal for you to hide. You couldn't afford to put Soobin in any more risk than he was already in.
Heavy footsteps liter the living room. Two, no, three pairs? That meant the two officers had gone inside with Soobin.
"Mr. Choi, would you mind showing my partner upstairs?"
"Of course."
You feel your pulse start to race. Soobin being alone with a raider was putting them in a stickier situation. If he loses control at any moment, this could mean the end of their lives. You couldn't help but peek through the hole on the floorboard. Only the pink haired officer was left behind to search the living room. You try to breathe quieter, hoping he wouldn't notice your presence.
The officer brings his hand to his ear, head shifting around as if making sure there weren't any witnesses.
"What is he doing?" You think to yourself, bracing for the worst.
"Taehyun's got him cornered upstairs. The girl isn't here. We'll proceed as planned."
You hold back a gasp and stumble back. A loud thump sounds upstairs followed by a glass shattering. Soobin!
The officer hears the noise and sighs, smashing his communicator onto the ground. He crouches down onto the floorboard and knocks twice. "Hey, I know you're there. Listen to me."
You don't respond, shock and fear stopping you from even breathing.
"This may be too much to ask, but please trust me. I'm part of the anti-faction unit that's here to support the ability users. My partner will capture your boyfriend and bring him to the facilities and I don't have a choice but to help him. I'll report you as a missing case so run away after my partner and I leave. There's no saving your boyfriend now so you could at least save yourself."
"Why are you doing this? Why can't you just save him?" You choke on your words, anger slowly rising. If he was here as an undercover agent then he could've at least saved Soobin.
"It's loo late. The facility's had an eye on him for months. If I do anything now, my cover would be blown. I can't have that." The officer frowns. You could see his fallen expression through the hole but that wasn't enough to calm you down.
"And I can't have Soobin getting killed." You snarl, hands balling into fists.
"He won't." The officer says before standing up. "They'll be down soon. Just do as I say and save yourself."
You feel your blood boiling. They knew Soobin was an ability user from the start and had used you as an excuse to lure him in a tight spot. Abandon Soobin? Not a chance. You didn't abandon him back then and you were sure as hell you wouldn't be abandoning him now when he needed you most.
"Move."
"Hm?"
The trap door had enough space to hide in, but that also meant you had enough space to make a running start. "I said move." You ram against the floorboard, knocking Yeonjun off and bursting the door open.
You were free.
"Soobin! Get out of there!" You scream the moment you got out, running as fast as your legs could carry you towards the stairs.
"Are you crazy?!" Yeonjun runs after you, breath hitching as he manages to grab your leg. "You could get killed!"
You kick Yeonjun's hand, causing him to stumble behind. "Soobin!" You scream, dashing upstairs. You make a sharp turn towards his bedroom and find him down on the floor, blood dripping from his hands.
Soobin looks at you, tears threatening to prick his eyes. "Y/N, get away from here!"
"Soobin.." Your gaze shifts from his worried eyes to Officer Taehyun's cold ones, looking at you like you were as significant as a tiny insect. It was only then that you realized what a mess the place was. The book case had been knocked over, sending the books scattering around the room. A huge spear of ice had bursted from the ground and crashed onto the glass window, coming in between Soobin and the officer.
"So, you were here all along?" Officer Taehyun scoffs, his tone as cold as his expression.
"Y/N, stand back. I'll handle this." Soobin tells you, wincing as he holds a hand towards the officer.
"You can't do anything to me." Taehyun smirks, crossing his arms. "You used up all your energy making this freak ice appear and for what? To buy time? You're the type who loses energy while using your abilities, so why not stop now?" You see him glance your way before snickering. "Is it the girl? Do monsters even have time for love?"
"Might want to check in the mirror." You slowly inch towards Soobin's side. "Who's the monster here? A guy who's just trying to live his life quietly, or the one who's had innocent blood spilled in his hands for countless nights?"
Taehyun's amused expression falls. "Last time I checked, none of them were innocent. And I'm not the one who conjured ice from the ground to harm an officer. Normal humans don't do that shit. Monsters do. Isn't that right, Yeonjun?"
Before you knew it, you were pinned to the ground. Yeonjun had crept up on you from behind while you were distracted.
"Y/N!" Soobin rushes after you but stops as Yeonjun takes out a knife and puts it to your neck.
"Move and I'll cut her." Yeonjun spits out his empty threats. You knew he wouldn't harm you. He just wanted to get out of this mess as fast as possible.
Soobin clicks his tongue, lowering his hands in defeat. Taehyun finds himself smiling at the entire situation. "There you go. And just when I thought you'd lost your common sense."
He walks over to Soobin, carefully maneuvering through the ice and shards of glass. "Come with us quietly, and we'll set her free. No scratches, no anything. Do we have a deal?" He takes out specialized handcuffs used to detain ability users and twirls it around his fingers.
"Don't! Soobin, please! There must be another way!" You scream, trying to break free from Yeonjun's hold but that only made him pin you down harder.
Soobin looks back at you and then at Taehyun, shedding a tear as he holds his hands out in front. "Keep your end of the deal. I surrender."
"No!"
"Quiet." Yeonjun puts the blade back into his pockets and puts his hand over your mouth. "Mmf!"
You felt powerless as you watch Soobin get handcuffed, his eyes never leaving yours— taking in your face one last time. "I'm sorry." He whispers.
"Oh, and for safety measure." Taehyun hums as he takes out a tranquilizer needle, stabbing Soobin on the neck. Soobin's falls on the ground, unconscious. "You can't be too careful with these monsters." Taehyun chuckles, bending down and hoisting Soobin up in his shoulders. He walks over to you and Yeonjun, leaving behind a few instructions for his partner. "Release her when I give the signal."
"My communicator's broken."
Taehyun raises a brow.
"It fell and got stepped on when this chick came out of nowhere and ambushed me."
Taehyun sighs. "I suppose we don't have a choice. Use my communicator." He uses his free hand to hand Yeonjun his communicator.
Yeonjun holds it in his hand and nods. You try to look over the door towards Soobin, but they were long gone. Yeonjun notices this and bends down, whispering.
"Listen. The plans have changed." He holds out Taehyun's communicator in front of you and smashes it to the ground. "Taehyun has no means of contacting the others for backup, and they can't hear us from where they're parked. We might be able to save Soobin." He loosens his grip and lets you go.
"What made you change your mind?"
Yeonjun sighs, helping you up. "We actually have a fighting chance now if we work together."
"What do you mean?"
"It's gonna take Taehyun a while to sort through the mess blocking the door."
"Mess? What mess?" And then it hit you. "You missed it up on purpose." That's why it took him so long to catch up.
Yeonjun takes out a gun from his holster and cocks it. "Listen carefully. We don't have a lot of time. Taehyun's has his guard down right now. I'm gonna sneak up to him and shoot hid arm that's holding Soobin. As soon as he drops him, I want you to grab Soobin and take him to the back. I'll meet you there."
You didn't exactly trust the guy but you weren't in a situation to be picky. "Fine."
Tumblr media
"On my signal." Yeonjun whispers, taking a step forward from your hiding spot.
The plan sets in motion. The two of you sneak downstairs, peeking at Taehyun who's trying to sift through the broken furniture with one hand.
"Wow, looks like the girl got away. My bad."
"What are you—"
Yeonjun pulls the trigger before Taehyun could turn around, hitting the heel on his right leg.
"Shit!" Taehyun winces in pain. He reaches for his gun but Yeonjun was faster, shooting two other bullets through his other leg and his shoulder that's holding Soobin. He drops Soobin to the ground with a thud.
Yeonjun turns to you. "Now!"
You sprint towards Soobin's body, adrenaline coursing through your veins.
"Hold it right there." Taehyun pulls out a knife and holds it towards Soobin's throat. "One step closer and I'll kill him. Even if that traitor shoots me, I'll just use the last of my energy to slash his throat. You don't want that now, do you?" The look in Taehyun's eyes infuriated you. He looked so confident that you wouldn't dare take another step further, none of you would. And he was right.
Your eyes fall upon Soobin, your heart squeezing in your chest at the thought of losing him. All you could hope for was a miracle. To hell, it didn't even need to be a miracle. It could be a tragedy, a curse, whatever. Just let Soobin return safely in your arms.
You feel your hands heating up despite the cool air rushing inside from the open windows. A warm sensation fills your chest and you gasp for air. Taehyun and Yeonjun observe as you grip your stomach. You feel like throwing up. It felt like you've lost all control in your body. You were sweating from the heat, and the world looked like it was spinning out of control. Your vision clouds until a bright light flashes, stunning you for a brief moment.
"What's wrong with you?"
Your attention shifts towards Taehyun who'd spoken and all you could see was red. "Let him go."
Taehyun tightens his grip on the handle. "I didn't know this monster's life meant so little to you."
"Sorry to break it to you, but his worth is immeasurable in my eyes. I'd do anything for him." You narrow your eyes at his face. "Even if it meant I'd have to spill blood in my hands."
"Y/N, what are you doing?" Yeonjun asks, his tone laced with worry.
"Committing a murder." You answer, not bothering to look at him. "But not a crime."
In a split-second, the door behind Taehyun explodes, the flaming debris piercing Taehyun straight in the chest, miraculously missing Soobin. Taehyun's lifeless body falls onto the ground and Yeonjun takes cover from the explosion. You stay plotted at the same spot, scratches littering your sides as you nearly miss the flying debris. The fire slowly spreads throughout the living room and your legs give in as you drop to the floor.
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding, your arms instinctively reaching towards Soobin. Drained seemed like an understatement. You could barely move. It was as if all the energy you had earlier had been sucked out of your body.
"Y/N, get a hold of yourself!" Yeonjun rushes towards your side as soon as the coast was clear. "We have to get out of here!"
The world around you darkens and your mind turns blank. You couldn't even think at this point. Soobin was right in front of you yet nothing of what has happened has processed in your head. In the end, all you could do was stare at his face as hot tears spilled from your eyes.
"Snap out of it!"
You feel a stinging sensation coming from your cheek and you look up at Yeonjun. The air rushes back up your lungs and you gasp.
"Listen to me. We need to get out of here right now. If the fire spreads throughout the house, we're done for. We either die in flames or be killed once the backup finds us. Can you walk?"
"Yeah.. I think I can." You try your best to answer. He helps you on your feet before rushing towards Soobin.
Yeonjun stumbles as he hoists Soobin onto his back. He looks at you, eyes determined. "We managed to escape now, but who knows what'll happen next. What do we do now?"
In the end, it all came down to this. Wherever you went, it was all the same. You and Soobin have suffered too much, and it was time to put an end to it. Strangely enough, the flames that had swallowed your living room didn't make you afraid. It made you feel powerful— powerful enough to make a change.
"I don't want to cower in fear anymore." You lock eyes with Yeonjun who earnestly gangs on to your every word. "We've hidden ourselves in the darkness in fear of being captured but I think it's time we use the what we're familiar with to fight them off— use the darkness to turn against our oppressors."
"So what do you suggest we do?" Yeonjun settles right next to you.
You face your resolve, reaching your hand to caress Soobin's sleeping face. "For now.."
"We run to the shadows."

The loud clap of a book dropping on the table startled the brothers for their own research. "What the hell,Cas." The eldest said more then likely woken up for his half sleep mind set. "I found it." He said as he pointed to the thick book.
"Found the weapon that can restore balance." He explained further causing them to grow intrigued. It was the weapon they were looking for that could keep Angels in heaven, demons in hell, and other supernatural in purgatory. The one thing that can fix everything."Perfect where do we get it?" Sam asked as he pulled the book three times thicker then the largest dictionary towards him. "Where do we find her you mean." Castiel said making the Winchester's look at him confused.
Dean cleared his throat and dragged his hand down his face. "Her? The weapon is a person?!" He asked. "Not exactly. She was the first Archangel made by both God and Amare. Legend has it she's more powerful then both of them she could create life with ease and equally wipe it without so much as a single thought. Because of this she had to be put to rest." The angel explained further.
"If she's so powerful how is she "put to rest" can't she wake herself up?" Dean asked as he looked over his brother's shoulder at the book. "Apparently her prison has hex symbols that takes away and returns her grace in a constant loop to keep her weak yet alive." The younger brother explained pointing out the drawing of the three symbols on the page. "So a real life sleeping beauty? Sweet! I always fit the role of prince charming ya know?" Dean said cockily posing victoriously.
The angel rolled his eyes. "There's a catch,Dean. It says once we break those symbols all of heaven and hell will feel it. The creations that she made will hunt her down...all things supernatural will come for her,but once she's back in full power she'll be able to cloak herself." Cas said as he paced slightly. If she was a powerful as legend had it she could fix it all for them. "Her creations? She made the monsters we hunt?! I thought that was Eve." Dean exclaimed as he ran a hand through his hair. "That's a common misconception the apple she ate gave he knowledge that only three beings knew. That special apple was made from her grace." That's when the angel paused as his words raked over him. "Her garden was never just a place it was her prison."
"The garden of Eden. What's this Angel's name?" Sam asked as he flipped through the book and tried to find a name, but all he saw was angel of light and darkness, the perfect balance. "God was nice enough to name it after her. Eden the first Archangel, but she's gone by many names before." He said.
Dean looked at the book with Sam. "Where do we find the magical garden? No book supernatural or not ever gave a location." The eldest asked and it was a good question. "The garden never stays in the same place for to long it moves often. One day it could be in a forest the next in a mountain." Cas said with a sigh it was impossible to find the prison with out a bit of her grace to track the source.
"Her grace is strong even a little can help us. Even if a millennia has gone by and it's became one with the elements it can help." Cas explained. "Cain" The name fell from Dean's lips as he numbly rubbed where the mark once was. "Cain is the son of Adam and Eve. Eve had that grace in her system she must have pasted it to him!" With that the boys packed up and were heading to Cains house to use him as a tracking device. The day long drive dragged on and with those time Sam continued to ask questions.
Most of the questions the angel had no answer to until one made him freeze up. "How did it happen in the first place? Was she casted out of heaven like Lucifer?" The younger Winchester asked. "I think Chuck poisoned her. She was like Lucifer she questioned a lot of things it was a new angelic trait, curiosity, except she loved all creatures and things Chuck made so when he makes something new she was the first to see and that was the last time any angel has seen her." The vivid memory came to mind.
The giggle of the young fledglings filled the air. A girl with H/c hair dragged a younger version of himself around. "My little raven come look! Father has created such beautiful things." She said as she showed him the flowers in her hand each different from the other. "What are they called?" He asked tilting his head. "Father said I can name them, but I can't think of anything...come help me plant them on earth there we can name them!" She said using her three pairs of large F/c wings to bring them to earth before humans were even thought about.
Tumblr media
The soil on the ground was dark and it was vastly different from the sand surrounding it. With gentle hands she planted all of the flowers and together the angels named them. "Hmmm..." The girl hummed. "What is it Y/n?" He asked her. "We need something to keep them growing in numbers, raven." She said using a stick to draw on the dirt. "What should it look like?" Y/n asked him as she was going to go to her father to create it.
"Um...give it wings and make it the color of those sunflower over there." Castiel suggested. The drowning at took a couple tries, but as the kept adding and removing things they got what they wanted. Without realizing that the archangel just made multiple winged creatures on a whim and she wasn't even trying. God saw it all a d it scared him,but he couldn't do anything about it when his sister along with his other archangels would be there to stop him. He had to wait.
Three mil past and the two children grew bigger and she grew stronger. The small patch has turned into a garden of various plants that were only found in different climates around the world. Together they went there everyday even more often after the imprisonment of Amara and Lucifer along with the disappearance of Gabriel. Michael was busy trying to keep order after the two archangels left so it was his chance. Chuck called his daughter to see another one of his inventions, but that time was so much different from the others. Afterwards she didn't comeback she was never seen in heaven again and on that day a tree taller then any other in that garden with apples of pure gold grew.
The garden of Eden disappeared after Eve ate the forbidden fruit and it wasn't ever seen again by man, angel, nor demon knew of it location. Cas lost his friend and he knew it was god that did it even if he was suppose to be a loyal soldier he couldn't when he knew that the father of creation so willingly got rid of his most prized pupil what would he do to all the underlings.
Hours have past they stand in Cains living room. "Cain we don't need much from you just some of your blood that's all." Cas said as Dean explained what for. It took some convincing, but he agreed and bleed into a vile. "You guys better stop this apocalypse before shit hits the fan." He said as he shut them back out of his house. Sam handed the vile to Cas. "Now what do we do?" He asked the angel. Without saying a word he pulled something from his pocket a old looking compass. "Rowan taught me a location spell all I need to do is..." Pouring the small amount of blood on the glass of the compass and spoke in Latin causing the red substance to disappear. "...follow the arrow." Cas finished.
The arrow spinner rapidly as it settled on the strongest pull of the grace. "Looks like we're heading west. We have a estimated week before it changes course so off we go." Cas said as they all went back to the car. Keeping his eyes trained on it a small smile formed on his lips. "I'm coming N/n." He whispered to himself. Almost five thousand miles away a the unmoving body had a shocking pull of her lip at the mention of her name if only that could have woken her up for her comatose state.
It's been three days on the road and the impala had to come to a stop a thick treeline stopped them. The dirt road turned into a hiking trail and they had no choice, but to go on foot. Together they hiked up the trail blindly following the arrow through the woods. "Cas what are we suppose to be looked for?" Sam asked as he stepped over a fallen tree branch. "The closer we get the more exotic the plants and animals will be. Also be careful some of the wild life is experimental." The angel warned causing the brothers to freeze. "What do you me by experimental? Are we going to see a truducken?!" Dean asked jokingly as he looked around.
A loud snarling noise caused him to pull out his gun and look around. "More like human eating plants and venomous insects." This made Sam tense and stick closer to a still walking Castiel and Dean to cautiously does the same looking at each and every plant close by. "What is this fucking Jumanji?!?! Everything can kill us." Dean said keeping his gun up and ready to fire. "Oh, that was the name of the movie. Yeah those types of movies were based off of what explores experienced when getting to close to the garden." The blue eyed angel said with a shrug.
In a clearing they all look with widened eyes at the land before them. Flowers of all types with various animals and inserts. They watched in wander at everything creatures they've never seen or never insisted out of the garden. Everything was in bloom even though it was mid fall. There was a clear gravel path cutting off between the forest and wonderland in front of them. They wandered around since it became more difficult to find where the pull was unclear. "She won't be in plain sight she'll be hidden well. Look for something that doesn't quite match the rest. Trees of all kinds surrounded the area, but it was Sam who noticed the sand that mirrored a sky full of stars. He slowly followed it till it grew thick into a sanded path.
The youngest Winchester had his eyes trained down so when he looked up the apple tree before his eyes took his breath away. It looked straight out of a child's most imaginative fantasy. A white trunk with red leaves and the most noticeable feature the solid gold apples on it's branches. Sam didn't hear the voices of his brother or friend as he stepped closer directly under one of the low hanging fruits. Reaching up he picked the ripe fruit his brown eyes glazed over by temptation and curiosity. "SAM DON'T EAT THAT THAT!!!" Cas yelled using his grace to stop him mid bite. The angel looked in horror at the item in his hand a dark purple almost black apple sat in his friend's hands.
To anyone mortal it looked beautiful with it golden exterior, but Cas could see the ugly, fermented, poisoned inside. Glancing up the tree was rotting with barely any leaves and the few left were the color of blood. "It's poisoned their all poisoned." His words cleared the Winchester's vision of the tree and the surrounding woods all the plants were dead all around it. "It's beautiful on the outside, but deadly on the inside. And we're seeing it for what it truly is."
"It's clear as day that's she's here. Just how do we get to her?" Dean asked looking around. Castiel snapped towards Sam holding his hand out. "Do you still have the book?!" Sam nodded quickly taking the strap off his shoulder to dig it out of the bag. He handed it over the the angels that viciously flipped through the pages. "He made her a monster so a beast she became. She was blinded by curiosity and temptation she chose wrongly that day. Pick the fruit that doesn't call to you for the right one will choose you." He read word for word trying to see through the riddle. A beast? She was never a monster, but she was depicted as one. A angel that tainted the flock.
The Archangel landed gracefully in front of her father. She bowed on one knee as a warrior would clashed in her white armor and sword by her side. "Stand my child." She stood up looking at him. "Yes,father?" Her voice was gentle, but that didn't make the God of creation hesitate in his actions. "I've made something new for you to try and plant in the garden." Chuck said handing her the item. The skin was red and the surface was smooth unlike the peach that had a light fuzz. "What is this?!" Her e/c eyes burned bright her wings fluttering in excitement. "A red apple my dear." He said softly a smile on his lips stepping closer "Taste it."
Bringing it to her mouth she took a bite out of it and started to chew. It started of sweet, but became bitter within seconds and no matter how long she chewed it never broke down in size for long. "Father...something not right." She said that single bite still in her mouth. "Trial and error, darling, try to swallow it." Her h/c hair bobbed as she nodded. With a gulp she swallowed it down, but to her shock it stopped. Using her free hand she beaten at her chest to unblock her air way. Looking up at her creator she saw a look that can only be described as pure evil as a liquid poured out of her mouth.
Touching her chin a dark violet substance came dripped to the ground. Her gaze shifted to the apple within her hand and the inside no longer looked right. It was as if it gone bad from the inside, but the outside stayed fresh hiding the disgusting center. In fear she stepped back and with that she fell and continued to fall watching her home fade away. Y/n broke through the soil of the earth in a prison of her own design that she cared for and nurtured. Her arm dropped from her side the apple rolling away. The deceitful visibly harmless fruit planted it seed and grew becoming the only way to enter her personal mausoleum.
Tumblr media
Castiel looked at the tree. All of the fruit looked the same nothing was different about a single one of them. Together the trio walked around the looming tree. The Winchester's saw something beautiful and they couldn't help, but want to pick one of the apples to taste. "What do we do,Cas. We don't have much time before this place disappear and possibly taking is with it." Dean said flinging his hands in the air. "The riddle said to wait then that's what we must do.
They grouped together and sat at the base of the tree waiting for who knows what to happen. "This is stupid! Let's just get the shovels from baby and start di–" His words were cut short as a apple full down from above them. "Well that was covenant." Sam said as Cas picked it up. To the brothers it looked odd a bronze color compared to the rest just less appealing. While to Castiel it looked horrible making the clearly deadly fruits more appetizing. "Our key in." He said. Using his hands to break it open to reveal the mouth watering interior that a honey like liquid dripped from, they picked correctly. The ground began to shake and they all stepped away from the base of the tree as the dirt around it caved in making a spiral staircase down and down they went.
It was pitch black down there so Sam and Dean pulled out flash lights to look around. They all went around the surprisingly large pocket in the ground. Dean checked for the symbols when he tripped over roots and landed on something hard and and moving. Snapping up he shined the light on the women laying as if sleeping in front of him. She was in white leather armor with a sliver sword in her hands on her chest. "Didn't find any hex symbols, but here's sleeping beauty." He said looking her over she rested on a raised stone that worked as her bed. "Never mind found them." The markings from the book in a pyramid shape was on one side of the bedrock glowing a soft F/c. Sam walked over along with Cas. The knifes both brothers held was used to break the engraved symbols, but nothing happened.
"No no no that's not right. Y/n is suppose to be freed!" The angel in distress said as he flicked through the book nothing else was said to be imprisoning her, why didn't it work? The Winchester's examined her the youngest looking at the elegant armor while the oldest focused more of the feminine features. "Sammy you read that book while in the car. Didn't you say something about her being the first female?" He asked his eyes not leaving her. "Yeah a model for Eve and later Amara's less celestial form. Why?" Sam asked touching the blade of the sword. "Yeah if that’s try why does she have a Adam's apple?"Cas wasn't fully paying attention until that sentence. His blue eyes imminently went to her throat were a noticeable lump was. "That wasn't there before." He mumbled loud enough for them to hear. Placing his ear just a centimetre away from her lips a shallow breath was let out and a wheezed inhale drew it back in.
The angel put his overlapping hands on her chest. He didn't know everything about humanity, but he knew enough to understand what he was about to do. He pushed with all his strength and he heard a sharp breath push out it just wasn't enough to dislodge whatever was there. Cas continued his actions and just when he was giving up hope she coughed up the chunk of apple and a weird substance. F/c glowing eyes snapped open as she lurched forward her grace burning bright casting a shadow behind her. It was a sight to see three sets of wings, what can only be described as a halo, along with twisted horns. After the grace calmed down her eyes returned to their normal color and they instantly when to Cas a wide smile spreading on her face. "My raven." She said. Y/n knew why she was awoken after all this time. To fight in a war she wanted no part of,but with the thought of putting everything in balance and striking down her father where he stood made her ready to fight. After all she felt like she's had enough Beauty Sleep.

As an American I can report that there are concerts & sporting events happening all over the US right now & every state & municipality can set their own rules for Covid safety. Multiple lawsuits are in play in various states regarding who has the authority to set certain requirements. I can guarantee you that no artist has that right. It will not be up to him. Basically I think if you have co-morbidities or are unvaccinated you have to take personal responsibility & NOT attend an event. If you're vaccinated & healthy bring a mask in case it's required & have the time of your life. That's the general attitude most adults have regarding concerts & stadium sporting events. If you're not vaccinated or have co-morbidities then stay home but the rest of people have been living like they actually believe what the CDC told us for months....that if you're vaccinated only a tiny percentage of way less than 1 percent would have anything more than cold symptoms or common flu symptoms even if they do get Covid. They told us for months that almost no one (by percentage) gets hospitalized with Covid or its variants after being vaccinated. That's why people here are ready to move on. Because they spent so long telling us these things night & day people aren't willing to turn off the sense of comfort & freedom that line of thinking has provided. Vaccinated People generally feel comfortable. Children aren't vaccinated of course so they should stay home but everyone vaccinated is willing to take their chances at all of these concerts & sporting events. It doesn't help that in the last week alone 3 very prominent national political figures (progressives!) Were seen at large gatherings with no masks. All of the signaling from our own government for months telling us we're safe from hospitalization & death if the get the vaccine is why these large events are taking place. Everyone who wants the vaccine has been able to walk into any number of drug stores & get it without an appointment for months now. People FEEL safe. Worldwide media portrays Americans as not caring about Covid deaths but it's because they've spent a year telling us how good these vaccines are & how low the number of hospitalizations are if you're vaccinated. It's not that Americans don't care - at least not from their perspective. It's that Americans don't feel like life should stop for a fraction of q percent of vulnerable people. Just like people don't stop smoking cigarettes on the streets just because some people walking by have asthma & might suffer a fatal attack. Just like they don't make alcohol illegal just because 95K people die directly from alcohol each year (way more when you include other medical issues exacerbated by alcohol). The same thinking everyone around the world has had forever is why so many are ready to move on now. That same part of our brain that tells us it's ok to get into a car & drive to work each day knowing there's a all chance we could die in a car crash or kill someone else in a crash. When the numbers are low enough people can live with that risk & can have a good time anyway. Now people are getting back to life. Even our beloved progressive politicians are partying in large gatherings with no masks. (Obama's too) it doesn't make people the devil or evil if they're vaccinated & want to get back to having a good time. I just want to day these things - not directly talking about you or anything you've said. Just need to get this off my chest. Tired of all the finger pointing & acting like everyone getting back to life is trying to kill old ladies or put small children in the hospital. Eventually we will all have accept a certain amount of risk & personal responsibility & just live again. The psychological death toll of putting like on pause has cost us more than the actual death toll.
I get that you wanted to get this off your chest (and I'm not going to address your last line)....but I hope you understand all of this is not really related to the point being discussed; which is what is Harry Styles going to do to make his concert tour as safe an environment as possible for his fans who have already paid him for tickets?
Trust me, everyone knows the US is fucked up. We know your government is batshit. The worldwide media doesn't portray Americans as not caring about Covid deaths. The worldwide media portrays Americans as not being informed about the risk of death from Covid or the scope of the death toll. The attitude you have expressed here - that of elevating personal responsiblity over social responsibility rather than seeing them as irrevocably entwined - is quintessentially American. None of this is news to non-Americans, including Harry. So - back to the point - given all the above, what is HIS point of view and what is HE going to do about it?
You said that "I can guarantee you that no artist has that right[ to set requirements]. It will not be up to him" - You cannot guarantee that, because it is factually incorrect. There are other artists doing it right now. It depends on the state and the venue. And more to the point, in those states where they CAN'T do it, they are exercising their choice to move venue or cancel. Stop acting like Harry is completely without agency or choice here, it's silly.

Lately, I've found myself drawn to stories ( and I mean drawn to as in envisioning those stories in my head, thinking them through to the very last detail, not reading, let alone writing them down, because I've long since accepted that they will never turn out quite the same on the paper ) where Red is the one who'd been seriously hurt and, therefore, rendered unconscious for an indefinite amount of time and worried Liz is the one who doesn't leave his side, hoping and praying and pleading that he would wake up. Probably, something that has to do with how unfair it is that we've seen Red keep vigil by hurt!Lizzy's side – playing music for her, holding her hand, reading to her etc. – a number of times and yet, over the course of 8 seasons, never have ever been allowed the pleasure of seeing Liz do the same for him ( not even when he was shot – because she left to retrieve the Fulcrum and couldn't come back until the fight was over – or when he was poisoned – because she'd been waiting to be cleared to see him and he ran away the moment he wasn't actively dying, because that's Red for you all ), even though she loves and cares about him as much as he loves and cares about her.
I mean, just imagine the possibilities!
Liz pacing around the waiting area of Red's mobile hospital while he's in surgery, unable to think about anything else other than how he looked – battered and broken and barely alive – when they've found him and how his head rested in her lap ( she could almost convince herself that he was merely dozing, if he wasn't so deathly pale and still and there wasn't so much blood on his clothes and her clothes and her hands and the backseat of the car ) and his hand was limp in her death grip as they rushed him to his doctors and she whispered words of reassurance and encouragement to him even though she knew he couldn't hear her and how she had to fight the instinct to curl around her lover and snarl at anyone who would come close because she can't let him be hurt further as the medics took him away from her, exchanging observations and orders that didn't sound particularly reassuring. She's also acutely aware of the fact that Red is fighting for his life – there, just a few feet away from her – and, though he's the strongest man she's ever known, he may not win, and so she makes a promise to the empty air in front of her that she will kill him herself if he dares to give up on her and Agnes like that now, when they've just reached the good, right place in their relationship, just confesses their feelings to each other. At some point, Dembe most certainly pulls Liz in for a hug, letting her cry in his shoulder, doing his best to comfort her ( even though there's nothing that can bring her more comfort than Red's hug, when he – alive and whole – wraps his arms protectively around her and holds her close and lets her hide from the whole world in his arms, his chest, his shoulder and neck – wherever she prefers to burrow her face at the time – and the memory itself makes her cry harder, because there's a possibility that he will never hug her like that again ), even though he's just as worried and scared as she is, and Mr Kaplan helps Liz clean up, washing away Red's blood from her hands and producing seemingly out of the thin air fresh clothes for her to change into.
Red, of course, pulls through the surgery, beating all odds, and Liz's heart floods with relief at the good news before sinking when the doctor explains to her and Dembe and Mr Kaplan the extent of Red's injuries and that it's impossible to say when – or even if – he wakes up.
And so the waiting game begins. Liz doesn't leave Red's side, holding his hand, stroking his knuckles with her thumb and never letting go, constantly talking to him and reading to him and even asking Dembe to bring the record player and some records from the Bethesda apartment to play to him, hoping that it would elicit some kind of response from him. Yet, as they days go by, there's not a single, smallest sign that he's aware of anything that's going on around him, that he's still there somewhere and is trying to find his way back to her, to them – he doesn't stir, doesn't so much as flutter his eyelashes, and Liz grows more desperate with each passing day, even though the doctor assures her that Red's slowly but surely improving ( but she can't see it with her own eyes, and if she can't see it, she's less likely to believe it, the more time passes with him just lying there, undisturbed by the loud, chaotic world around him ).
And then there's Agnes... While Liz keeps vigil at Red's bedside, the babysitting duties are split equally between Aram and Samar, Charlene and Cooper, Ressler and Audrey and Dembe and Mr Kaplan. Yet more often than not whoever picks little Agnes up from school and / or her ballet classes brings her over to the safe-house where Liz and Red are. She doesn't seem to be as unnerved by Red's state as her mommy is, climbing on his bed each time she visits ( after giving her mommy the biggest hug, of course ) and leaning in close to him, examining his face thoughtfully before half-asking, half-stating "He's still tired, mommy?". And Liz usually replies with a hoarse "Yes, baby" because she doesn't trust herself not to get choked up if she tries to answer more eloquently. Agnes simply nods then, satisfied with the explanation why he hasn't woken up yet, and settles against Red's side – mindful of his injuries and the spider web of wires and tubes connecting him to all sorts of monitors and machines – and either naps ( especially, on ballet classes days ) or tells her mommy and Red ( she talks to him just like Liz does much too easily – promising him to show him the new moves she's learnt when he wakes up etc. – as if she's already done that before or seen anyone else do that... unbeknownst to Liz, she did both – when Liz herself was in a coma, Agnes both saw Red talk to her mommy and was encouraged by him to talk to her, too, because it may help her mommy sleep easier and maybe she'll get better sooner and finally wake up ) about her day or does her homework or draws ( more often than not, she draws either cards for Red to read when he wakes up or just things she wants him to see ). And when the time comes for her to leave, she always kisses Red on the cheek, wishing him "sweet dreams" and to get better soon, and then gives her mommy, who tries so very hard not to tear up but fails miserably, a hug and a kiss, too, and tells her frequently that she shouldn't cry because Red is just too tired, just like she – Liz – once was, and that he just needs to sleep a bit more.
And when the door behind Agnes closes and Liz is sure her daughter won't see / hear her, she breaks down hard, in big, ugly sobs, because her little girl shouldn't be acting so naturally in this kind of situation and because she wishes so hard that Red just woke up, because she can't do this, any of this, without him.
In the end, once his body has healed itself enough and he regained enough of his strength, Red, of course, does wake up. It's a slow process, and Liz thinks she might either faint or go mad from the overwhelming feelings that are swirling inside of her when Red moves for the first time in what seems to her like forever – squeezing her hand feather-lightly – and when he leans slightly, unconsciously into her touch when she strokes his cheek – out of habit, without even expecting any sort of reaction from him and being pleasantly surprised – and when he opens his eyes for the first time – it's a brief occurrence, with his eyes slipping shut tiredly again after just a few moments, and he's still pretty much out of it, apparently, not even noticing her presence by his side, but for Liz it's a major event – and when he finally, finally looks directly at her – alive and conscious and alert – and calls her "Lizzy". He's still weak and his voice sounds terrible and Liz knows she shouldn't let all of her pent-up feelings – the fear and despair and frustration and love and relief and exhaustion – out on him like that – he's just woken up, after all – but she can't hold back the tears nor the jumbled mess of "thank you"s and "I love you"s and " "I've missed you"s and "I'm so so happy you're back" and "I was so worried" and "Don't ever scare me like that again" that spills from her lips as she leans in to kiss him lightly and give him the gentlest of hugs...
(Since I'm not a ficwriter and, therefore, have no intentions of using this pile of ideas/images/feelings myself, I wouldn't mind at all if you or any other writer drew inspiration from this rambling of mine)
Ahhhhh 😭😭😭 Are you sure you're not a fic writer, anon?? Cause this reads like some quality hurt/comfort to me!! 🥲🥲 Honestly, this is a lovely scenario to imagine & it gives me a slightly bitter sense of satisfaction to think of Liz suffering through just a fraction of the time Red spent by her side while she was in her coma... especially if it's the catalyst for fEeLiNgS to emerge tee hee bc, you're RIGHT, we were woefully deprived of those situations in the show & I'll never not be sad about it tbh. More specifically, things I love the most about this in no particular order: Liz having to "fight the instinct to curl around her lover & snarl" *swoon*, Liz swearing she will kill him herself if he dies LMAO, Dembe hugging her for comfort & Mr. Kaplan helping her get cleaned up 🥺🥺🥺, Liz playing records for Red yasss, AGNES & everyone taking turns babysitting her while she misses her Daddy desperately but deals with the situation with a maturity & grace beyond her years in an effort to help her grieving Mommy through it cool cool mkay mkay, Liz only breaking down once Agnes leaves OWWW, anddddd Liz being a blubbering mess when Red finally wakes up & calls her "Lizzie" & they kiss *whispers* it's fine, i'm fine 🙃 IN CONCLUSION, I love this anon, thank you for sharing this lovely little AU with me!! 🥰 And much, much love to you, of course, my friend!! ❤️

It's 8 PM, and Minhee's pissed at Hyeongjun and Junho for making him clean up the mess they've made for the project. Actually, he won't even consider it a project-- given the lack amount if effort and neatness they put into it. But, they're 3 boy seniors who are aiming for a C and a pass, what else do you expect from them?
He adjusts the strap of his backpack on his shoulder, rolling his neck in circles while groaning quietly to himself. "Damnit, if I hadn't left Hyeongjun with the scissors he wouldn't have cut all that paper and my hair." He picks on the shorter strands of the said hair with a childish pout.
He continues grumbling useless complaints to himself, the only thing able to hear being his loud thoughts and mumbles, occasional cars passing by, and the slide of his worn-out converse against the rubble.
Minhee recognizes the chinese takeout restaurant nearby, and is a little relieved that he's nearing his home sweet home faster than he had anticipated. Standing in front of the place was a crosswalk and a traffic light-- where a girl stood, still in her uniform as she looks around, eyes half-lidded as if she were sleepy.
Same, man.
Minhee agrees mentally, averting his attention from you to his path in front of him. Another car passes by. Eight more seconds until you can walk on a red light.
You move around freely in your position, a tiny childish smile gracing your lips. Seven.
Six.
You glance at Minhee with an awkward nod to acknowledge him, a slight pump in your step as you jump your heels anxiously on the sidewalk.
Five.
A hooded, black figure suddenly appears from around the corner, and Minhee doesn't fail to notice.
Four.
The figure freezes before walking in a much faster pace towards your direction.
Three.
You stop bouncing on your heel, the color from your face draining the closer he comes.
Two.
   Minhee grows weary.
One.
A buzzing sound emits from the traffic light as it turns red, and you make a dash for it, legs sprinting towards the safest thing you could think of. And then your eyes meet Minhee's.
"Chan? Is that you!?" You suddenly burst out, arms flying open as you make a jog towards him, brows furrowed nervously. Minhee's taken aback, "What-"
"Oh my god, Chan!" You cut him off with a grunt, wrapping your arms around his waist tightly. He yelps, eyes widening at the a affectionate embrace. "It's been so long!"
"Who are yo-" "Help me out, will you?"
You hiss, head gesturing backwards. Minhee lifts his head to look across the street, a shiver running down his spine when his eyes lock with a pair of agitated ones. The hooded figure stops and stares at you two.
"A-Ah! Hey, you! I haven't seen you in, uh, years!" Minhee says aloud, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you closer. It was like a silent agreement— shuffling away inch by inch while holding each other awkwardly.
After a solid minute, the mysterious man-- or woman-- turns around and walks away. You could practically hear his teeth gritting.
When he's out of sight after turning on a corner, you both let out relieved sighs, arms unwinding from yours bodies.
"Dude," You breathe out, a small, scared smile itching on your lips. "that creep's been following me since, like, last Friday."
"What? How lo- wait, who are you?" Minhee asks incredulously, taking a step back. You snicker at his reaction, "Well, I was just a stranger, but now I'm a stranger in your debt."
"In my debt? Sounds a little sugarcoated— you save yourself anyways." Minhee doesn't know why he's so worked up-- he's talked to a lot of girls.
"Yeah, but you willingly played along."    "You were squeezing my chest." "I was desperate!"
He turns and starts walking, clicking his tongue and acting cool, but pauses momentarily. "Well?" He turns his head behind, shooting you an expected glance. "Are you coming?"
It takes you five seconds to process that he's waiting for you, and you can feel blood rushing to your cheeks and the tips of your ears. "Huh? Oh, yeah." You shove your hands into your jacket's pockets, jogging to his side. "Where are you going?" Minhee shrugs, "I was waiting for the 8.40 bus, but I guess plans changed."
There's a weird tingly feeling that starts from the ends of your toes, then creeps up your feet and legs, and then washing over from your stomach to your head overwhelmingly fast. It makes your chest weirdly tight, but you don't mind.
It makes you pick on your hangnails unconsciously, or chew on the dead skin of your lips on the corner of your mouth. You hadn't felt like this since middle school-- you try avoiding it at all costs, but it's inevitable, right?
A crush. A tiny one. A teeny-tiny one.
You're baffled at the loud voice, repeating those two words. A crush. A crush. A crush. A crush-
"You know what, I think I'll take up on that 'debt'." You're snapped out of your trance, and look-- up-- at Minhee. He's already facing you, "Let me take you out."
"What?"
"You heard me. Let me take you out." He repeats more boldly this time, puffing his chest out. But when he glances at you again, your deadpanning face bearing holes into his, his confidence dissipates into the night air, "Uh, that is if you want to, of course."
"Oh, uh, I'd like to. I'd really like to." "...great, it's a date then."    "Yeah, it's a date."
You two walk along the sidewalk, hearts clenching in content. And then you realize-- you don't know his name. The simplest thing to ask, and you're too nervous to spit it out.
"...L/N Y/N."
"What?" Minhee hums, tilting his head. "My name's Y/N." You smile, suppressing a chuckle at the fact that you hadn't even introduced yourselves.
"Kang Minhee."

Entry 3: See you Friday
After a nice dinner outside campus, Tristan walked me back to my dorm with the promise of hanging out after finals were over.
Now, two weeks later, I was back in the library, except today was Wednesday instead of Tuesday and according to my schedule, I should be on the volleyball court and not here. However, volleyball training was done for the semester and with finals week looming in, I figured I'd try studying three times a week now instead of the usual two.
Let it be known that my routines were sacred and that every time I try to mix it up before its predetermined death at the end of the semester, unfortunate things happen.
Like last year, I decided to go ice skating instead of going to volleyball like usual and I ended up with a sore butt and a sprained ankle. And then the year before that, I tried cutting a class and missed a surprise quiz and almost got into a car accident.
Tristan says that I just have really bad luck but I know better. I just hope that that wouldn't be the case this time.
My table was free as usual. However, the one in front of it was not.
Seated there was my nameless library buddy, looking at me with questioning eyes.
I imagined him thinking something like 'are we studying Wednesdays too?' or something along those lines because, really, how funny would that be?
Then it occurred to me: could it be that he knew my schedule? Tuesdays and Fridays weren't hard to remember after all.
I tried not to smile.
I mean, I could be wrong and he was honestly just surprised at seeing me two days in a row. Or maybe he was thinking of something confusing and I happened to stand at the spot he was staring at.
The thought immediately took a hit on my mood. That, I wasn't sure I should be happy about.
The rest of the afternoon went by quietly. Like always, my library buddy and I shared exhausted looks and tired sighs a couple of times.
After seven long months, I had gotten used to sharing these empathetic and weirdly comforting looks with him. Except now, these looks elicited a feeling in my chest that I couldn't quite describe.
At ten past six, I slung my bag over my shoulder and picked up the stack of books I planned to check out. I made it two steps away from the table before I tripped on my own feet, my books hitting the carpeted floor in a series of loud thuds.
There's my unfortunate moment.
"Crap."
I got off my knees to pick up the fallen textbooks when another pair of hands entered my field of vision.
It was library buddy.
"Here," he murmured as he handed me an orange hardbound. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, thank you."
I took the book from him. This was so embarrassing.
"No problem." He gave me an easy smile and at that moment, I swear I wanted to melt into the ground. His eyes wandered to the books I was cradling.
"Statistics!"
"Yeah!"
He said it in such an 'aha!' voice that I temporarily forgot about my shame and grinned. So he'd wondered about my major, too.
"You?"
"Sports Science."
"Cool. You want to be a coach or something?"
"Aa," he nodded. "Gotta beat someone up, you know?"
I laughed. He was so charming, it was a miracle I haven't turned into goo yet.
It was then that I noticed his eyes. One warm brown and one dark green. The difference wasn't too noticeable but I had always been observant of little details.
"You have heterochromia?" I blurted out before I could stop myself.
"You noticed?" He looked positively surprised. "Yeah, my mom used to say I was an alley cat in my past life."
I imagined him as a cat but immediately wished that I didn't.
"It's pretty."
I blinked.
What the hairballs?
Y/n, you little—!
"I have to go."
He looked a little taken aback by the sudden declaration but nodded nonetheless. "Of course. You need help with that?"
I gave him a tight-lipped smile. I needed to get out of here before I embarrassed myself any further. "No, it's fine. Thank you though."
"You sure?" He asked. "That looks heavy."
"It's fine," I laughed but even to my ears, it sounded way too forced. "See you around."
"See you Friday," he corrected before walking back to his seat, hand raised in a goodbye.
Oh my god, he did know my schedule!
I quickly exited the library but not after receiving an exaggerated wink from the librarian as she checked out my books for me. I knew without even looking at a mirror that my face was as red as a tomato.
On my way back to my dorm, I realized that in my star-struck state, I failed to get his name. I bit my lip.
Oh, well. I couldn't really blame myself. He was just so much prettier up close.

The Scarlett Hero
Chapter 0: Being a hero's child sucks
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Disclamer: This was originally written for an OC but for tumblr I made it x reader
You always knew what you wanted since you were a child, your parents always told you that they left Japan after finding out mom was pregnant. They named you L/N F/N, but N/N for short and said it was special that you were special. You were their one and only. They only wanted one child because they liked the idea of ‘spoiling’ you. Your O bāchan wanted you to be a boy to carry on the family name, even after finding out when you were a girl she begged for your  parents to try for a boy but they never budged. Both your parents came from pro hero backgrounds from your great grandparents when quirks started appearing till now. They've  been heroes before heroes were a thing. Your mother was Terepashī and your  father was Terekanisu. Before you were born they moved to the U.S in Visalia California for you to live as a normal child, well as normal as a child with former hero parents who were also too rich for their own good can live. When you were born, you were their world. All they wanted was for you to be happy, well until you moved back to Japan. They missed the hero life. They loved being civilians but that eventually got bored, not wanting to do civilian work like in an office. So when their old job offered them their hero jobs and top spots as number 7 and 8 heros if they came back. They sold the house and packed up. You were 8 when you moved and your parents always talked about Japan. You went there to see your grandparents but never stayed long enough to really understand the culture. So after pulling up into a large driveway and a house bigger than where you used to live shocked.
“Mama where are we?”
“Were home darling.” She looked behind her car seat.
“What about home in Visalia?” You didn't fully understand what was happening until seeing people moving boxes that your parents packed back home.
“Remember honey when we said we were moving to Japan we’re staying here baby.” You began to cry.
“What about my friends.” The car stopped pulling up to the house.
“Well you'll make friends here. Come on baby you're a big girl you'll be okay and both your  O bāchans are closer so you can see them whenever.” My eyes cleared.
As time went by and your parents got more and more busy being heros, when they made a comeback everyone went crazy. Everyone was surprised after 8 years of being silent they've come back as a force to reckon with. With that force came more jobs and less time to be with their daughter leaving her with nanny after nanny and staying with her
O bāchan. When she  turned 9 her quirk finally appeared after years of worry maybe you were quirkless. It was your 9th birthday when you woke up to your parents not being home to wake you up. Your O bāchan had made you a cake and they celebrated but you really wanted your parents like how it used to be before they even moved.
When you parents came home they were tired but you just wanted to spend time with them. It had been a while since they even hugged you.
“Mama, Papa guess what today is!’ you said excitedly.
“Not now Hayami, we’re really tired.” Your dad said taking off his armor and dropping it on the floor.
“But Papa, today's special.” tears began to run down you cheeks
“Dear god F/N  we’re tired just leave us alone and bother your O bāchan.” Red hue had seeped from you eyes flowing out. Your hands clenched around themselves, you were angry but sad you just wanted them to notice you again to  be their world again.
“Aikia.” Your father Koto had tapped his wife on her side. Pointing towards their daughter only for them to be sent flying backwards by the ray of energy the child in front of them released.
“I just wanted a hug, It's my birthday I just wanted you to be here, please what am I doing wrong!” She was surprised at what she did holding her hands back stepping back from in front of them.

“No baby, you're doing good just calm down.” They stood up moving forward towards their daughter realizing their daughter had finally developed her quirk. Something this strong in a child is phenomenal. Just from that blast they can see she has her father's quirk but ampules the amount of power that he had at that age with no training.
“D-did I hurt you?”She quivered not wanting to touch them, the red hue still flowing from her eyes. Her father grabbed a hold of her bringing her close to her father and mother.
“No honey you didn't hurt us.” He wiped tears away from her eyes, eventually going back to her normal green doe eyes.
“You got your quirk baby.” Her mom held her hand, gripping it and looking at her hands trying to see what her hands were even doing. Red was still glowing from her hands.
“Mama what is this. Is something wrong with me?” She knew what quirks were but her’s never looked like her parents. In America the kids' quirks resemble their parents more or less. Her parents don't  have any color coming from them.
“No honey it's okay I think you just need to be trained. What happened, I felt your power coming from it. How about you let your papa and I go get cleaned up and celebrate your special day and we talk about this tomorrow.” They picked up Y/N happy that she's gotten her quirk now she has a chance to be a hero.
Later that night after they put Y/N to sleep her parents and O bāchan had discussed what they were going to do that she's behind on training when they were her age they were training with pros.
“ What about her godfather. He’s training his own child to be number 1 and All might said he won't train a child no matter who they are.” They looked up at Koto as if he was crazy.
“Koto, Enji would never he's a godfather not a sensi. You know how he is with his own family no matter how hard he tries to hide it his children are separated from shoto.” Aika gave her husband a pinned look. She knows that's basically what his parents did to him but he had no issues with it.
“Hear me out Aika when my parents trained me when I got into U.A I was in 1A my mind was focused. I want the same for our daughter,  and her quirk is so much stronger than ours you felt it you know she is. If Enji trains her she can be the top 5 hell even number 1 if she works hard enough and surpasses his son somehow. She's already behind Akia, if he says yes I have no doubt our daughter would make us proud.” He stroked the doubt from his wifes face. Letting her know this might be better.
“Maybe this would be better for F/N. Akia when you were a child you didn't train as hard enough and you didn't even get in the agency you wanted because of your marks. Don't let your child suffer. You want her to be the best. Right?” Akia nodded. Remembering her past failures never wanting her child to be rejected and always being the top.
“I'll make the call then.” Koto steps into another room away from his wife and mother in law.
Koto made the call to Enji Todoroki, the number 2 pro hero Mimi's godfather. Since they were younger and freshly married  they had always talked about how powerful their children would be. Unlike Enji, Koto’s marriage wasn’t arranged he had known of his wife when he saw her at the sports festival their 3rd year, seeing her telekinesis at work he was entrances, he knew then that he wanted to be with her and didn't stop till she was his and that she was. It did cause him to drop in the hero polls because he focused on woahing the girl rather than his job but he loved her and that's what mattered to him then. It was full of love.
Enji knew to an extent that their child would be powerful and that if their children had worked together as partners in the hero world no one would be able to stop them. They would be the top heros. So after his long time U.A friend had offered the idea of training his child he took the opportunity never questioning. Him being able to have his song and goddaughter training side by side as partners. Helping her channel her power. This was an opportunity he was not going to waste.  Having two future pro heros train under him since childhood how could he ever.
The next day her parents took her to the Todoroki household . She tried playing with the children that were in the courtyard but her father had called her to his side putting her in front of him making her be face to face with a boy with half white half red hair.
“Y/N you know your godfather Enji.” she had met him a couple of times enough to know she's supposed to trust him enough that her parents let him stay in their house in America and even babysat her. Well as good as he did that due to him just telling her to stay in her room and only come out if she needed to. He wasn't the best but her parents trusted him.
“Yes, hello.” She looked up at him smiling, he did not return it.
“This is his son Shoto.” He smiled at her, hers only getting wider getting a warm greeting from someone else in the house.
“Since you've gotten your quirk your mother and I decided that your godfather should train you on how to use it.” She and Shoto were shocked. Him because he's going to have someone else to train with and not be alone with his father. She started to tear because her parents are going to leave her with someone she hardly even knew right after her birthday not even trying themselves but passing her off as someone else's problem.
“Why can't you or mama train me?” she asked, confused. She thought that now that she has the quirk that they would spend more time with her.
“You are so powerful we feel that Uncle could do better than us. He's number 2 after all he will be better than us. Just trust us okayY/N.” She didn't want to make them stand there anymore so she stopped asking questions and went along with it.
That afternoon her father had left her in the care of her godfather that she refers to either ‘uncle enji or uncle Todoroki’ not wanting her to call him godfather. That afternoon training had begun. Shoto had been training his whole life while this was your first day. Enji had made Shoto and you spar telling each of them don't stop till he said to. Shoto was going easy on you knowing that it was your first time but his father had stood in front of him demanding why would he do that,  screaming until he cried. Mimi had gone to Shoto’s to help him calm down, not wanting to see her new and only friend cry. Enji watched the scene disgusted that they wouldn't go full force. He walked out of the room demanding they straighten up before he gets back. Mimi had comforted Shoto enough that he stopped crying.
“Is he always like this?” Shoto nodded.
“He hits my mother and yells at the rest of us.” She was shocked she didn't know what to do. He explained to her everything that he even remembers in his 9 years of living.
“Please don't tell anyone you have to pinky promise.” He made her promise not to tell anyone. She had a faint idea that if she did say something maybe something worse would happen to him or even her. That day they had become the closest of friends.
“If we don't get up and start training before he comes back he's going to be even more angry.” Shoto had said, well more like a warning.
By the time Enji had returned Y/N and Shoto were going at it as if they were pros. Even though she only had her power for a day she had learned to dodge attacks from him and when she got behind him she was able hit him with her quirk  sending him flying forward and when he sent his flames in her direction she engulfed them with her quirk sending them back to him. Enji had a smirk on his face when he saw them sparing without him actually training him standing there watching.
When her father had come to pick her up ,she had already eaten dinner with the Todorokis’ due to her parents having a job before picking her up. She was basically sleeping right next to Shoto with his head on top of hers. When her parents took her,  Shoto’s mom took him to bed hers taking her home tucking her in not knowing what she went through.
