RAVEN MY BELOVED! I'm so happy to see her again! And with the good side no less. 🥲
I hope we get to see a bit about how she got from the end of v5 to now.
And I'm so glad that they had Winter keep the Pontail, she looks so good with it.
I really enjoyed the first RWBY Beyond, I hope they get to make more even after the initial four

REMNANT NEWS SPECIAL REPORT: BUMBLEBEE...FACT OR FICTION?
GIven recent events, I knew had to mark this special event. Rather than recreating it, I imagined it as...”The Kiss Heard Round The World”.

the tale of the four maidens is obviously the story of how ozpin met them. could it be that when he looked at the rwby team at the beacon academy he remembered his old maiden friends? 👀

So what do you think the yellow color when penny gave her power to winter meant?
So I have two main ideas for that :
Tumblr media
It has something to do with Jaune's Semblance, that he used right before Penny asked him to kill her.
I don't think we really know how his Semblance can expend exactly, we got some hints in Volume 7 with Vine asking him if he "ever thought about extending his Aura". So did he mean that like physically like Vine and Emerald did ? Or an extension in a different way, in time or space for example ? For now there's no confirmation, but it feels like there's something they will do (or have already done) with that.
So yeah, I was thinking that MAYBE, Jaune's Semblance impacted Penny's Aura, maybe it only changed colors because of it, or maybe it also gave her some strenght and reinforced her Aura ? Idk but this is one idea.
Tumblr media
2. It has something to do with Ambrosius' work and actions after "recreating" Penny.
I noticed in a recent tiny rewatch of the chapter "Creation" of Volume 8 that when Ambrosius "recreate" Penny, there's this similar gold light kinda coming out of her body, my interpretation of that is that it's when her Aura was removed from her robot body. But we see right after through the robot body's vision that her Aura is really green inside her new flesh body, and we see it again while she fights and fall on the bridge at some point with Weiss. So her Aura REALLY should be green during the transfer, that's what would be logical since Fria's was blue. So I thought that maybe it was Ambrosius' actions, I know a lot of people said that Penny was only made of Aura after that and didn't have a flesh body. I mean, I believe she still had a flesh body (she bleeded after all-). But what Ambrosius did to her, maybe it made her body special ? She wasn't born in a flesh body after all. So maybe this particularity made her body glow in a different way, because her body was made differently than everyone. But it still doesn't really explain everything at all to me...
One last idea, more boring (krkr), is that it would be because of the place they are. This isn't a physical place, they kinda met in the "mind", or somewhere not on Remnant. It wasn't imagination but it was still somewhere not physical. So I guess it would have to do with that maybe, while we saw Fria's transfer in the physical world of Remnant. But yet idk, even if it's a different place, WHY would it be gold, like I don't really see the reason, it should have been green for it to be logical from the start x)
That's why something's a bit weird here for sure to me-

Someone made a post once about how Winter becoming the Winter Maiden was the first time someone being a Maiden was portrayed as something completely heroic and triumphant, rather than a huge villanous moment (Cinder) or a big twist (Raven and Penny). And they made a good point explaining that the reason of that was because the relic is gone, now the Maiden is finally able to be free.
But honestly, I think another reason is simply because it was the first time that someone other than Cinder (who is like, a power hungry villain) was happy to be a Maiden.
Raven killed the former Spring Maiden to take the power from her, so she could become stronger. However, she clearly doesn't like or takes any pride on being a Maiden: she sees it as just a burden, a target painted on her back, and it scares her, which is why she kept it secret and used Vernal as a decoy.
Penny became the Winter Maiden as a last minute decision. Then it only caused her pain, because people dehumanized her more than they'd already done before. And it's clear from minute one that Penny never wanted to become the Winter Maiden, and didn't want those powers. Either her or Cinder. Like with most things in her life, she actually didn't have much of a choice.
Even our Maiden candidate, Pyrrha. Pyrrha didn't want to become the Fall Maiden either. She was only like 17 or 18, and she'd known about it for only like two days, and didn't have enough time to think about it. When she agreed to it, everyone could tell that she really didn't want to do it, even if she said she was choosing it.
Winter, on the other hand-- just like Pyrrha, she was offered to become a Maiden. And she was upset about it, too, at first. She didn't like the fact that Ironwood was making decisions about her own life for her.
However, unlike Pyrrha, Winter did have time to think about it. And she thought about it, and she-- was okay with the idea. Like she said to Weiss, she was choosing it for herself. She would be a Maiden because she wanted to be, because she saw it as a way to do good for everyone.
And next volume, when she's defected from Ironwood and Penny dies and gives her the power, Ironwood tells her “so the destiny I chose for you has finally arrived” and then, Winter literally tells him that he chose nothing. Because he didn't. Her previous decision to accept the Maiden power never really had anything to do with him wanting her to. And much less, now.
She said it herself: This was a gift.
The Winter Maiden powers were a gift from Penny, her friend. And she was proud of it, and was going to honor her fallen friend.
So, yes, I think that one of the reasons why Winter becoming the Winter Maiden was portrayed as something so triumphant rather than just dramatic was because this is the first time we see a Maiden who considers her power a gift, not a burden.

I’m kind of Terrified for the Summer Maiden reveal in V10
Tumblr media
This is something I’ve been thinking about since RWBY vol. 8. We have seen countering identities for each maiden so far.
Fall Maiden: Someone no one knew. She had no importance to the main characters.
Spring Maiden: Someone familiar, take it with a grain of salt. Raven is still blood relative to Yang.
Winter Maiden: The original Winter Maiden was an old woman that Ironwood had shut away to just wait for death (which is messed up in its own right). Then there was the whole debacle with the powers going through Penny before finally reaching Winter.
With that being said, I’m honestly nervous for the Summer Maiden’s identity. Because if CRWBY keeps up with the counterpart pattern, that means that the Summer Maiden is going to be some little Vacuan girl who’s barely old enough to attend a primary combat school like Signal. I can see them either making her a little five year old who doesn’t understand anything that’s going on, or some pre-teen know-it-all who thinks she can take on a whole army on her own because she has special powers. Either way, both would be very easy to manipulate.
Summer Maiden (head cannon/theory): Young Girl from Vacuo, probably going to be a Faunus since we haven’t seen one yet and Faunus seem to be abundant in Vacuo. My big thing is going to be the age of the girl. If she happens to be a Faunus, 5 points to Beacon!

BUCKLE UP CHILDREN, IT'S THEORY TIME!
So, every maiden we have met has ended up being someone we know. The Spring Maiden is Raven, Cinder Fall is the Fall Maiden because CRWBY loves puns apparently, Winter is the Winter Maiden because puns, and so far we don't know the Summer maiden. So here's the theory;
(I wanna preface this by saying that every maiden has had a country that it matched the climate of so far. And a maiden that is from that country. Atlas is wintry, Vale is Fall-ish, or at least it's associated with school, which seems fall enough, Mistral is spring-y, and Vacuo is literally a desert. So, this theory doesn't totally line up with current patterns. BUT, Ruby finding out in Vacuo could still sort of count for this. And I guess we don'tknow for sure where Cinder is from.)
I think Ruby Rose will be the Summer maiden. One, she's special. She's the main character, for starters, but her entire theme with her silver eyes is that she is light. He mother is named Summer. The Summer Maiden's relic is destruction, which Maria says the silver eyes are the opposite of, because they are preservation. I think she balances it out.
Obviously, lots of people think that Summer is/was the Summer Maiden. I personally do not. But I think Ruby is being set up to be the Summer Maiden when she arrives in Vacuo. Ruby has always wanted to be the fairy tale hero. This would make her all she has ever wanted, after her much needed growth this season.
It would be an amazing way for the writers to connect who she is, what she wants, and all her suffering and talent into an essential piece of the plot.

I think it is very fitting that Jinxy disguised one of Penny’s Swords by turning it into a puppet. Because the only way to create those swords was to use her Maiden powers. And due to having those powers, Ironwood and Watts sought to destroy her free will and reduce her mind even further. And becoming a Maiden essentially makes you a weapon to be controlled by either side of the Secret War.
Vernal wasn’t kidding, the powers are a curse.
