I've seen an influx of people asking this over on tarot reddit
But in short there's nothing wrong with buying your first tarot deck yourself the whole 'you must be gifted it' superstition is a fairly modern invention and means nothing
Also please do not steal your first deck as I've seen people claim thats a thing and just don't

But anyway, before I got distracted by my last post.
Hekate.
I wanted to share some things I've learned about Her.
1) She is The Unseen Witness. This is an epithet I personally have given Her, but which derives from Her role as Persephone's savior and guide to and from the underworld.
2) She's pre-Greek. Anatolian, actually. That's how I personally like my deities—from a localized cult but so powerful they got picked up by a nearby pantheon (Diana is another example of this).
3) She's a goddess that was traditionally worshiped not in temples, but at homes. In my personal experience, She has a LOT of presence in apartments and shelters (especially shelters), as they are inherently liminal living situations.
4) She presides over Dogs and Polecats (like a weasel or ferret) and Horses, so I view Her as a goddess with dominion over all domesticated pets.
5) Hekate faces the three directions the roads lead at a Y- or T-junction, so in my personal practice I understand The Horned God to stand at Hekate's back and watch The Wild Way for Her. On my altar I have my representation of The Horned God facing away from me. Hekate did call me a sneak for that one, though, so YMMV.
6) I get the vibe she doesn't like to share altar space so she'll be getting a bookshelf of her own soon. You can use keys, the triple moon, and various momento mori (like bones, or the charm I made with a sprig of dead rosemary and a beetle carcass) to represent her in an altar space.
7) Herbs and Plants: Garlic, Yew, Mandrake, Dandelion, Belladonna, Cyclamen, Hemlock, Mint, Oak, Date Palms, Willow, Wolf's Bane. You'll notice many plants in her domain are poisonous or otherwise baneful. To this extent, she presides over all baneful plants.
8) She basically requires you to prioritize self-improvement and learning. Therapy and working out and reading and journaling can all be devoted to Her.
9) UPG but I also associate Her with mushrooms, moths, foxes, and rose thorns. She is carrion birds and the rust that eats at iron. She is the dark side of the moon and She likes it that way.

Rules for the woods:
Always carry a key in the woods, you never know what doors need unlocking or in other cases what doors need locked.
They're also a symbol of protection

Just thought of this a Male Reader X female Harry Potter and reader is Bellatrix's son and his has the vibe of a playful dog that can still kill you
Y/N holds Harri Potter close…
Y/N: I won’t let anyone hurt you ever, my beloved
Harri: what about your mother?
Y/N: I’d fight thru a thousand copies of her just to keep you safe.
Harri: Mione would say that’s impossible
Y/N: I’d still do it for you.
Harri kisses his nose…
Harri: thank you

💀 Boundaries guide 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 behavior.
🌊 𝑩𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑫𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑺 𝑨𝑹𝑬:
⚡️ 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 expectations and needs that help 𝒚𝒐𝒖 feel safe and comfortable in 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 relationships.
⚡️ a personal rule 𝒚𝒐𝒖 make to protect 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 from other people/triggers.
⚡️ boundaries are setting limits to what 𝒚𝒐𝒖 are personally willing to do or tolerate [i.e., I won’t be around XX (because it upsets and triggers me)]
✨ a lot of people get confused with boundaries because they want 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 boundary to 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 what 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 do.
✨ Boundaries are about the outcome for 𝙪𝙨, to protect or contain 𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒔, and to connect with others, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 to disconnect ourselves more
✨ Ultimately, a boundary is something that 𝒚𝒐𝒖 have to determine for 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 ― not something you can force 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 to comply with.
💀 Rules guide 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐄𝐋𝐒𝐄’𝐒 behavior.
💥 A rule is something that says what 𝒊𝒔 and 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 allowed. (i.e., No smoking in the house.)
✨A rule is something 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝙚𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚 on 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 to 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 [and can easily be weaponized in hostile/toxic relationships and situations (landlord/tenant, romantic relationship, familial relationships, etc)].
✨ Rules are hard fast, less forgiving, more specific and are usually created to prevent chaos or for safety reasons.
✨ It may be tempting to lay down a laundry list of rules in order to make relationships/situations less messy and chaotic, but that’s 𝙣𝙤𝙩 how you establish meaningful connections with others.
💫 So, basically :
🏹 Boundaries = “I Won’t.”
• 𝙄 𝙒𝙊𝙉’𝙏 stay in the same room as you if 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 going to yell at me.
🔪 Rules = “You Can’t.”
• 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝘾𝘼𝙉’𝙏 use social media.
✨ Protecting yourself relationally means having a healthy understanding of where 𝙔𝙊𝙐 end and 𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙎 begin.
✨ 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨.
🔥 “No,” is a full sentence. Unless you’ve sold your soul to a crossroads demon, nobody is entitled to an explanation unless you choose to give one.
🔮 And, as always, time is fake and everyone you don’t know in public is an NPC, so don’t worry, they’re not paying attention to you, I promise.

Today I learned about "female sodomy" (female penetrating female) in medieval times. Of course it wasn't accepted back then, and punishable by law, because gender and sexual norms and sexism and all that jazz.
The fun fact is, when a woman would be accused of female sodomy, it would be accompanied by accusations of deviancy, hermaphrodism (why is this even a crime, i have no idea), and... witchcraft.
Now remember who was executed for witchcraft and who I like to imagine pegged Dracula?
Yeah. Lisa. ;)

i have something precious i want to share with the world: kindness, hope and unconditional love.
there's so much hatred and apathy in the world right now. so much disgust and repulsion between everyone. if you, like me, are tired of looking at the state of this world -- maybe you can stand up for what's right.
maybe you can empower yourself, heal yourself to be a leader of your own life. maybe you can turn to those who pose challenges in your circles and argue back, fight back, change the world one person at a time.
i believe to heal Nature, to reform society so we treat everyone with respect and kindness, and to progress past capitalism, we need to each change the way we behave and think. on a deep level. we need to nurture a sacrality for not just Nature, but people. everyone. even that bigot you hate. even that radfem that sucks. even that ableist who hurt you.
but to do that, we need to feel safe, comfortable and sacred within ourselves first. we need a community of leftists that are like-minded, and willing to use the arts to promote change and transform the world.
maybe this all sounds too good to be true. maybe you're doubting yourself, or me, and don't want to take any chances. but i'll say one more thing: you are never obligated to do anything.
i'll leave a link a here, just in case this resonated.

Let me be clear
To summon is to call the party
To bind is to bring the beer
To ward is to talk about bionicle lore at the door
To dismiss is to shout "the cops are coming"
This is crucial and fundamental law.

Either shove the people in power in a jar and start shaking or hand in your broomstick idc.
