Something I wonder about Simon and Betty's relationship is how long they were together before the whole crown ordeal. But they were engaged, you say. My aunt (in)famously met my uncle and had a ring on her finger in 8 weeks. We've seen that both Betty and Simon were both weird outcasts, crazy determined and a pinch insane. I would not be surprised if they decided they'd met their one true love and got engaged super quick.

My point being, Betty's shifting to revolve around Simon and Simon's rose colored glasses of their relationship feels very much like New Love. They're people who love each other and love being a couple but still haven't quite figured out how to coexist together, as two people in a partnership. I feel like if they'd known each other longer, lived together longer, some of the issues we're seeing would have probably self resolved.

I don't think their relationship is toxic nor is it totally perfect. It's two lonely, most likely neurodivergent people in a relatively early relationship still figuring out how it works. Everything that happened afterwards: the crown, the seperation, the time travel, the magic/madness/sadness just exemplified issues they had both as individuals and as a couple.

Few AUs have festered in my mind like @emelinstriker ESAU has.

Their “this is an X Reader scenario” has my mind in an endless grip. The possibilities are endless, especially since said reader is reincarnated…who knows how many times.

… but then there’s that part of my brain that goes “okay but… what if they had a nightmare of the stuff that happens in ‘other universes?’ in this case, since it is specified this AU does not have the Lady Bone Demon (though the designs are inspired by them- very nice btw) how would the reader react when they have nightmares of this strange, powerful being, that has seized her favorite monkies and is hurting them in ways the reader never wanted them to endure? (I’m still not over those scenes of- spoilers for season 3- EVERYTHING that LBD did to Macaque, and Wukong getting taken over, even temporarily. Just… oh my goodness.) there’s still a lot more to the AU I’m sure but… i think it’s safe to say the Reader would be hugging their Wukong and Macaque with all their strength and would not let go. You know…

Probably been said, but you know, as much as people make the Charlie conspiracy board jokes or doubt themselves about the depth of the show in general or about whether or not Macdennis is gonna be canon, Sunny is one of the literal only shows where nearly every detail feels deliberate to me, even the details that aren't, if that makes any sense, like it's grown in such a way so as to become this whole thing beyond what it ever started out as, and not because of fandom influence, but just because of the natural state of change, where no one sounds like they're grasping at straws or looking too much into it, where there is a structure to trust and they're not just saying it, they’re not fighting it, because I think on some level they know what they've created here, what path they've naturally set in motion and what it means to a lot of people, and I think on every level, they care about what it means to them, personally. The greatest love story ever told is the one that never set out to be one... but the love found them anyway. Sunny is a love story. Sunny is a love story. Sunny is a love story.
