Wolfstar Micro Fic - @wolfstarmicrofic prompt: Dark AU - 742 words
Amber eyes glow in the dim light, glaring through the rusted cell bars. Sirius smirks back. “Well,” he speaks cooly, “not much of a talker are you?”
Lupin doesn’t say anything, just holds his gaze unyielding but Sirius isn’t phased by it. Frankly, if he weren’t useful Sirius wouldn’t give two shits about Lupin outside of a slight morbid curiosity. “I have a proposition for you-”
“Fuck you,” Lupin spits, voice is hoarse from however many months he’s been locked up.
“Oh, so you do speak? That’s good because I have a job for you.”
“I don’t work for death eaters.”
Sirius arches an eyebrow, lips curling. It’s cruel, but it’s oh so easy. “Really? Because the ministry says otherwise.”
It’s enough to get Lupin to lunge at him, or at least attempt to. He’s surprisingly quick as he lurches forward in a blink of an eye, but just as quickly he’s slumped back with a hiss as the shackles yank him back. Sirius doesn’t flinch, but he does eye the chains curiously. He’d heard the rumours, had his own suspicions in school about the quiet kid who disappeared every month like clockwork. It’s hard to make out in the dingy light, but there’s a distinct redness around Lupin's wrists where the chains rub his skin, too aggressive to be a normal pressure injury.
Sirius flicks his attention back to Lupin. “I didn’t hurt them,” he’s mumbling to himself, almost unaware of Sirius’ presence anymore, “I wouldn’t  do that, I didn’t - I couldn’t-“
“I don’t particularly care for the details,” Sirius cuts off his addled rambling. Lupin’s eyes jerk back to meet his. “What I care about, is whether or not you want my help.”
“I don’t need your help. When I get out-”
“You think you’re getting out that easily? Your kind don’t get trails. And even if they did, who’s going to believe you? Everyone who’d testify for you is dead.”
“Dumbledore will-”
“Dumble cleared Snape and landed him a cushy teaching job with a snap of his fingers. If Dumbledore wanted you free, you would already be free.”
Lupin blinks at him and Sirius can’t help but feel a little bad as Lupin’s face seems to crumble. It’s pitiful almost, to think that Lupin was delusional enough to hope that hypocrite and manipulator would stoop to save one of his discarded pawns.
He pushes past it though - Dumbledore has failed him and his brother and Lupin and the Potters and countless others. He and Regulus have been able to pull themselves up and figure out their own way. The others weren’t so lucky. And Lupin? Well, that stands to be seen.
Sirius steps closer, so close his face is almost touching the bars. “I would  like to utilise your skillset, I believe you may be of value to achieving a goal of mine.”
“You’ve already lost the war.”
“Well, that’s true if you assume the Dark Lord is actually dead.”
Lupin's eyes harden, jaw clenched.  “He is dead. Lily and Harry they - he has to be-“
“Physically yes his body was destroyed,” Sirius drawls, “but do you honestly think a baby destroyed the soul of the darkest wizard in existence?”
Lupin lets out a hollow laugh. “So what? You want me to help resurrect him? You think I’d just disregard all of my morals - every sacrifice me and my friends made? I would rather rot in here for the rest of my life before helping you.”
Sirius cocks his head to one side, lets Lupin rant until he runs out of steam and deflates like a puppet with cut strings. His passion is admirable - as stubborn as he would expect from a former Gryffindor prefect-turned-Order-member. And it is a little reassuring, loyalty like that is hard to come by.
“Quiet the contrary. See my brother and I have reason to believe the Dark Lord had collateral in case this very situation ever arose. And we intend to destroy it.”
Lupin studies him slowly, gaze drilling into him like he’s reading every aspect of his being. “Why me?”
Sirius doesn’t answer that question, just smiles. He turns on his heels and slowly makes his way down the corridor, footsteps echoing off the walls like the ticking hands of a clock. “Keep an out for strays,” he calls over his shoulder, “Cats, dogs, that sort. Full moon is only a week away and they are greater allies than you might assume.”

@ last ask game... gonna ask the obvious one: jupiter? (also maybe all of the worst girls)
FANTASTIC i'll do them all :3
jupiter
Realistic :
jupiter plays the acoustic guitar because she was part of her church's band but can't really sing.
While it may not be realistic, it is hilarious :
she had a MASSIVE crush on rarity from my little pony when she was a kid, but refuses to admit it to anyone.
Heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends :
the first time she felt the hands was after her first queer thought. she woke up covered in scratches from hands that weren't hers, because she thought that she had to punish herself.
Unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own :
jupiter's secretly a big book nerd, but she pretends she isn't because that would ruin her whole athlete image. she usually has an audiobook in her earbuds when she's allowed to have them in. she really likes ya fiction and has a secret library card so her mom cant see that she's listening to secular media.
venus
Realistic :
she wears chapstick religiously, and always has a stick in her pocket.
While it may not be realistic, it is hilarious :
venus had a MASSIVE eminem phase when she was nine and can, in fact, rap all of his discography with ease.
Heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends :
when she was a kid, she wanted to be a pastor. then she realized that she couldn't ever do that, for a variety of reasons. she did cry about it. she hates the fact that she feels like a part of her is always going to miss the idea of that, of fitting in properly, even if the dream was stupid, looking back on it.
Unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own :
she's the one of group west that has the dirtiest mouth. she's usually muttering some incredibly creative expletives under her breath.
neptune
Realistic :
she has a septum piercing that she flips up into her nose when her parents walk by.
While it may not be realistic, it is hilarious :
she's the stage manager for her theater club at her school and is a HUGE stickler for the rules. she can and will fuck up your shit if you don't listen to her.
Heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends :
she never cries. she physically can't do it, it just kind of stops before it gets going. she sometimes tries really, really hard to properly do it, staring at herself in the mirror, telling herself terrible things to try and make herself cry. she never can, and it just makes her feel worse.
Unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own :
she's the most sheltered of the three. she pretends she isn't, but the only non-religious thing she's ACTUALLY consumed and didn't just get the references through cultural osmosis is, unfortunately, harry potter. so most of her childhood was full of religious media. girl has never seen spongebob.

Hey lovely Nube 💕
Finally, finally, I have the opportunity to jump into your ask box & get to know you better!!! We're both huge fans of fanfiction so this ask game was made for us! As usual, I can't stick to one question only so, if you're ok with that, may I ask you: A8 | B5 | C2 | D8?
Looking forward to reading your reply 👀
Lots of love 💕
<><><><><><>
PS: your comment/reblog of Lucy's post about this stinky comment on her fic was perfect 👏
Hello Val!! 🎊 awwww thanks for stopping by!!! Hahaha don't worry, we'll get to all of them!
(Adding a read more cause this got LONG sorry I'm physically incapable of summarising)
What was your first fandom? Are you still in that fandom now?
My first fandom was Harry Potter. I am not in that fandom still and do not wish to engage in it anymore for a number of reasons, but it was my gateway to reading from an early age and it was an excuse to bond with someone I cherished a lot and who sadly isn't here anymore. I met some awesome friends through it too, friends that put up with me to this day! Hahaha
Which story have you read more than any other? How many times?
You know... come to think of it, I haven't read an entire fic all over! 🤔 (regarding multichapter fics). I do want to highlight the ones I've been going back for certain chapters/scenes that I love! This list shows a variety of writing styles that leave me on the ground swooning (Warning!! no concrete spoilers buuuut references to scenes):
Holy Ground by @lucysarah-c (ongoing): Lucy can pretty much give a masterclass on poetic writing and I'm not exaggerating. I come back to it for my faves: chapter 9 (aka Levi's quiet morning gets interrupted in the funniest of ways - for us readers, not for him lmao), chapter 11 (aka not knowing how to play Scrabble leads to interesting outcomes), chapter 15 (one OF THE BEST LEVI POV I'VE LAID MY EYES ON), and chapter 17 (when you can feel yourself in the scene, it's just that amazing)
North Star by @sixpennydame (ongoing): such SUCH a special story. I love coming back to chapters 6 & 7, the whole Mount Aspe arc is exquisitely written.
Spectrum by @19941117 (finished): I have nothing but praise for this story and the incredible talent of its author. It focuses on an AoT character I've never seen explored before, and has the most breathtaking of endings.
Silver Underground by @amywritesthings (ongoing): this girrrrl leaves Easter eggs everywhere so I had to go back an re-read many parts to come up with theories lmao. I really enjoy the first chapter, the pace in it, the dialogue, the tension. And the whoooole bit on the Underground arc makes my heart become pudding.
Please tell me I didn't f*** up any link hahaha.
What word or expression always makes you cringe when you read it?
Usually I cringe when I see a sustained behaviour that feels excesively out of character to me (in those cases I choose to opt out). I also feel cringe-y in NSFW scenes when intimate parts are refered to overly poetically for my taste. I'd rather have them refered to in a filthy way tbh 😂
Which fandoms do you read fic for?
Currently I'm 99% dedicated to AoT (had a YoI phase a couple years ago!). Buuuut I wouldn't mind reading some Vinland Saga stories 😏 (@atruewarrior I'm looking at you)
.
.
Well I think that's it!! Thanks for the questions Val, have a wonderful week! 🌻🌻

please talk about something subtle you've put in a story that you hope readers pick up on
Oh man, it was a mistake to ask me this. But I have been desperate to talk about Ginny's t-shirts in Orchards so - let's get into it 👕👚🌳🌿 (Thank you for asking and sorry I can't answer anything like a normal person.)
On Ginny's t-shirts... The slogan t-shirts Ginny wears in Orchards symbolise the dynamics between Ginny and all the people in her life in the summer of 1996, especially her relationship with Harry and the rest of the Weasley family. When Ginny wears a particular shirt, I wanted it to be both a wink to the reader about the arc of that summer - little flags for the plot and for shifting dynamics in characters' relationships - and also a way to smuggle in little headcanons about Ginny's relationships, often with her siblings (and a bonus one, for a surrogate sibling, if anyone spotted it - spoiler below the cut)
I always wondered, with all the Weasleys' secondhand clothing, what Ginny must wear. I loved the idea of her rotating her family members' old t-shirts, as a little love letter to each of them. (I like to think she has a Percy t-shirt somewhere - a t-shirt from some academic competition, no doubt - that she'll dust off and wear again after the war, when they've made their peace with each other.)
So here's a a truly deranged full breakdown of the significance of each of the t-shirts, which I've pulled from my mad writing notes document and share with anyone even a little bit interested, haaa. They're in the order they appear in Orchards, so you can hopefully see their place in the arc of the plot, and broken down by writing/plot and headcanons. Ok let's goooo! 🤸🏻‍♀️
T-shirt 1: Dragon-Tamers’ Guild, Class of 1994 (Relationship: Charlie) 🐉
Writing/plot: Ginny wears this in her opening scene, where Harry and Ron come up to demand she joins them in two-a-side Quidditch. T-shirt 1 had to be a Dragon Tamers' t-shirt, given Ginny's about to spend the summer taming one particularly grouchy dragon (Harry James Potter). And it had to be yellow, because this is Ginny's entrance, so it has to be bright bright bright, sunshine and summer and happy colours from the get-go.
Headcanon: Of course Charlie would give Ginny, the only other animal-lover of the Weasley household, a dragon-themed t-shirt. 1994 is also the year the Triwizard Tournament kicks off, and Charlie comes back to England that summer, so would be the perfect time to hand over a t-shirt to his little sister.
T-shirt 2: My Brothers Started a Joke Shop and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt (Relationship: Fred and George) 🤡
Writing/plot: Ginny wears this at breakfast early on in the fic (the structure of the fic loosely follows the time of day - it starts with breakfast, it will end with evening after sunset). I wanted this t-shirt to flag to the reader that a new phase of Harry and Ginny's relationship is about to kick off - they're about to enter their own comedic double-act era, à la the twins (and, like the twins, a lot of their jokes will be at Ron's expense).
Headcanon: This is definitely a new t-shirt. Fred and George will have given it to Ginny earlier that summer to wear to promote their products at school in the new academic year. The twins may not like that their sister is cool and getting a lot of attention these days, but they're determined to make a few galleons off of it.
T-shirt 3: The Weird Sisters t-shirt (Relationship: Tonks) 🎸
Writing/plot: This actually ended up as my favourite, completely by accident. I originally meant for this t-shirt to be Ginny's own, as a reference to the Weird Sisters poster Harry discovers on her wall in DH. Purple just seemed like a wizardy colour. Ginny wears it in this early flirty scene where Harry, for the first time, seeks her out alone, and comes up to her bedroom. Although he won't enter the room - it's important that that happens for the first time in DH - I liked the idea of her cracking the door open a little and wearing a t-shirt that teases hints of the room inside.
It was only when I was doing final edits and canon checks did I remember that Tonks wears a Weird Sisters t-shirt to pick Harry up at King's Cross at the end of OotP, and also that it's purple??! And then I remembered that great moment in OotP where Tonks turns her hair red, and Harry says she looks like Ginny's older sister. I love that scene. It's so full of early Harry/Ginny hints: Harry noticing more details about Ginny; Ginny, Tonks, and Sirius chatting and cheering Harry up, and Ginny and Tonks showing clear signs of bonding in a little sister/cool big sister way. I love that it ended up as an accidental nod to happy hints from an earlier time.
Canon details: Now I think of this t-shirt is a gift from Ginny's honorary, weird older sister. Tonks has definitely promised to take her to a Weird Sisters concert one day. As Ginny will also spend the summer wishing Bill was marrying Tonks instead, this t-shirt is therefore a subtle anti-Fleur protest.
T-shirt 4: Blank t-shirt (Relationship: Ron 1) 👕
Writing/plot: I wanted Harry to have started to notice Ginny's outfits to such an extent that the first time she wears a blank t-shirt, he's like - excuse you? But then Ginny suggests she'll write her own slogan on it later (‘I’ll write one on later. What do you think of Ron Weasley: Stop Bringing Shame on This Household?’) The t-shirt therefore becomes a way to tease Ron, but it also hints at the tensions in Ginny and Ron's relationship that will be partly resolved by a later t-shirt (Ron 2)
Headcanon: Ginny's clothes are mostly secondhand. But she's also the only girl, and increasingly looks very physically different to her brothers, so when her mum does buy her clothes of her own, they're cheap and non-descript, probably from a multipack.
T-shirt 5: IKEA t-shirt (Relationship: Arthur) 🏡
Writing/plot: Ginny wears this in a scene where Harry and Ron are both watching Ginny and Hermione like dorks. Though they don't know it, both couples are slowly starting to build something, just like you build IKEA furniture (slowly, agonisingly, with no clear instructions and lots of tears/tantrums).
Headcanon: Arthur Weasley definitely has heard of IKEA and longs for the day he, too, can push a trolley around a big Muggle furniture warehouse with a little pencil and tuck into some meatballs in the cafe. A Muggle-born friend definitely gave him this t-shirt knowing he'd be thrilled, and he has passed it onto his daughter who also, secretly, shares his love of all things Muggle.
T-shirt 6: Witch Weekly’s Knitter of the Year Finalist 1984 (Relationship: Molly) 🧶
Writing/plot: Ginny wears this in a scene where she is making her mother tear her hair out over her lack of interest in being a prefect/behaving herself at school, and she and Harry team up as a comedy duo again. I liked the idea of Ginny both wearing her mother's t-shirt while she drives her to distraction, showing all the ways Molly sees herself in her daughter and projects some of her own worries onto her. I also wanted to suggest the idea of Harry and Ginny working together like two knitting needles, colluding to wind up Mrs Weasley. (Molly also spends this scene beating some dough into a pulp on the counter top, and fighting a losing battle there, too).
Headcanon: In 1984, Molly and Arthur had five children under the age of ten running around, squabbling and generally tearing each other apart around the Burrow. Bill and Charlie will have gone to school, and probably have received first batch of Weasley jumpers. I like the idea that Molly took up knitting when pregnant in the late seventies/ early eighties. By the mid-80s knitting is less of a creative outlet and more a slightly manic, neurotic and cheap way of reusing old wool to make new clothes for growing children (and also to take her frustration out on some wool by spearing stitches with sharp needles).
T-shirt 7: Gringotts Curse Breakers' Team-Building Day, May 1993 (The Hardest Curse to Break is a Bad Attitude!) (Relationship: Bill) 🔑
Writing/plot: Ginny wears this in a scene where she's trying to get the trio to lighten up and joke around with her (she's our little bad-attitude breaker). This is another favourite of the t-shirts and I would pay a lot of money for a workplace comedy fic about Bill at this away day.
Headcanon: This is one of those t-shirts you get given at an event and never really want to hold onto (I imagine a team-building day involving grumpy goblins was not a day Bill remembers fondly). But he has seen Ginny has a t-shirt from all her other brothers. The small, petty part of him that always wants his little sister to revere him wants to make sure she has one from him, too.
T-shirt 8: The Chudley Cannons jumper (Relationship: Ron 2) 🧹
Writing/plot: At her birthday dinner, Ron lends Ginny his favourite Chudley Cannons jumper when she starts to get chilly in the evening. Ron and Ginny's relationship won't be fixed completely by the end of the summer - in fact, they're about to go to school, where it'll get a whole lot worse. But this gesture holds out the promise to the reader that things will be alright between them again, that they're going into this new school year with a base level of deep love and affection for each other. Ever the over-protective big brother, Ron will not let his sister be cold on his watch.
Headcanon: It broke Ron's heart when Ginny picked the Holyhead Harpies as her team - she used to support the Cannons with Ron, but picked the Harpies out of spite the first year Ron went away to Hogwarts and she was left at home alone. Seeing his sister wear the Cannons jumper again makes him really happy.
T-shirt 9: Discarded t-shirt (Relationship: Harry) ❣️
Writing/plot: The fic ends with this suggestive, hopeful scene from summer '98, where Harry wakes up on the right side of Ginny's bedroom door for a change, and wonders where the t-shirt she wore the night before has ended up. He spent the summer of '96 inspecting her t-shirts, and then, somewhere along the way, he finally realised he's actually much more interested in what's underneath Ginny's t-shirts. Two years and a whole war later, the reader is reassured to know that Harry James Potter finally gets to take Ginny Weasley's t-shirt off, at long last.
Headcanon: (It's definitely one of Harry's t-shirts).

MY TOLKIEN BLACK HEADCANONS because I understand him
A lot of people just chalk him up to be "a smart kid" a la kyle or wendy but dont really define it which bothers me. I think Tolkien is only really smart in say mathematics and biology and is more so an athlete than bookish. Mfer can do advanced algebra just fine but dont ask him too many questions about the civil war he just doesnt care okay.
Speaking of Tolkien has not read or seen anything okay his pop culture consumption is bizarre. He doesn't know what a harry potter is he doesn't know what star wars is and everything he knows about lotr has been against his will. He has lived off of direct to dvd disney sequels and whatever esoteric foreign artsy movie his parents are obsessed with in that week to seem so smart and pretentious. He is frankly a little too scared to ask too so he just plays along for the most part and skates by on whatever he knows second hand.
HE LOVES SPIDERS why dont we talk about how he loves spiders. Which just makes me think he LOVES bugs in general he's that kid that has an illustrated encyclopedia on bugs he reads for fun and if given the chance would go on a tangent on any random species if hes sure you wont make fun of him for it. I just know he has a lil terrarium and he would NEVER squish a bug ever in his life and he would be very upset if you did maybe distrust you even. His friends know to send him a pic of a cool bug if they come across one in the wild he loves that.
I don't think Madea is some exception to Tolkien I think he is just a very easily amused boy okay literally anything and everything makes him laugh. Tyler Perry in a dress? Hilarious. Kick a guy in the balls? Hilarious. Whoopie cushions? Puns? Banana peel? HILARIOUS. Its why he and Jimmy get along so well Tolkien is never a dull audience.
AND ON THAT NOTE i think Tolkien watches bad movies on PURPOSE cuz theyre funny in an ironic way alright he loves watching people genuinely try to make a movie and fail at it so spectacularly. Madea is a guilty pleasure tho no doubt about it.
He had a very obnoxiois karate kid phase. Not the movie I mean like he took karate classes and everyone had to know about it. You know the kind I'm talking about.
To keep it sort of brief i believe Tolkien's more of the one who gets his heart broken than be the heartbreaker. Hes very popular and his relationships are wonderful and passionate but they fizzle out fast - and not even necessarily from his end. Everyone says hes a great boyfriend and he always tries so hard but he's never "the one" and I imagine it eventually makes him a little jaded ngl, learn to take everything more casual and expect it to never really last for long. Which of course then ironically makes it a self made issue. Point is is he's the cool guy you like who never seems to care and is so effortless but deep down he cares a lot actually.
I think after the Faith+1 and Wing incidents Tolkien actually keeps his interest in music on the down low. He only plays the bass in private and skips karaoke night. Its just that the embarrassing memories make him cringe way too hard but he does genuinely love it still. You're gonna have to coax it out of him very gently.
I think he's the type to use social media in like little bursts where he joins in on specific trends and posts daily and then just stops within a week or so and a few months later when he comes back online he's surprised at his decent clout and then repeat. Very basic basic tho like selfies and five month old memes and his random opinion on whatevers relevant that may or may not age very poorly.
I don't like to think of Tolkien as the "mom friend" or whatever but I can definitely see his friend group seeking advice from him cuz hes 1) got the most relationship experience and 2) his parents are the most functional of all the parents in their group so they raised him properly to like, yknow, communicate and problem solve and stuff. A wild concept. Him actively mothering everyone tho? Not so sure about that like hes a rich only child where does he learn to take up that kind of role.
He is not above violence, drugs or alcohol LET HIM HAVE FUN for God's sake. He doesn't really smoke tobacco and he drinks socially but he is a stoner and will experiment with anything if the company's right. And obviously he'll only throw a punch if driven to his limit or in defense but my boy likes to witness some mindless violence at the very least.
Idk how to finish this post so I'll just say that Tolkien did in fact not see Black Panther IN FACT i would go so far as to say he is a comics-only truther even. That is all for now.

↳˗ˏˋWhat your favorite HP character says about you:ˊˎ˗ ↴
a/n: don't @ me, this is just a big ol' joke, and you have no idea how much I laughed while doing this. These are my opinions and I’m mostly making fun of myself, so keep that in mind! <3.
↳- Marauders Era! -༉‧₊˚✧
James Potter: The straight A+ student now suffers from raging anxiety and drools for old men. No, come back, I'm talking to you.
Sirius Black: How are your mommy issues going on, dear? Is this one your favorite because it's cool, or you're just really horny? And, how's that desire to get everyone's approval going on?
Remus Lupin: We get it, you like this one! Shut up for five minutes. How do you cope with your daddy issues? Oh, yeah? You don't care? Then why are you crying?
Peter Pettigrew: How does it feel to be ignored in the group chat? Oh, sorry, I wasn't paying attention.
Lily Evans: Mommy issues, probably bisexual, middle sibling vibes.
Marlene Mckinnon: I wanna make fun of you, but is so obviously correct. Also, how’s your relationship with your parents? Do they know you're not straight?
Regulus Black: How do you cope with your depression? How does it feel to have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Why do you pretend everything’s fine?
Severus Snape: Thank you for letting me know to ignore all your future opinions. Please, stop ghosting your therapist.
Bellatrix Lestrange/Black: Officer, is this one, right here. I’m terrified of you, please stay 10 meters away from me.
↳- Lighting Era! -༉‧₊˚✧
Harry Potter: The safest option, maybe a little bit overrated, but is still a good one! You have an insatiable desire for sub-boys. Bisexual vibes but you only date gamer boys, nothing more.
Ron Weasley: You’ll never grow out of this phase. You wear converse and you have a transparent phone case. You order matcha, at Starbucks, with oat milk.
Hermione Granger: This may not be everyone’s favourite, but it’s yours and s’ok. Marina stan, Hermit the Frog on repeat.
Draco Malfoy: This was a big part of your sexual awakening. Daddy issues. You smell nice.
Ginny Weasley: Book biased? You have worryingly anger issues. Movie biased? Please seek help immediately.
Cedric Diggory: You have impeccable taste. You’re gorgeous, be my bestie, no questions.
Fred and/or George Weasley: Perfect out-of-the-box pick! The quality is just high and enough, and the popularity is low enough. But I know what you read, you want both at the same time, am I right? Disgusting (call me xo).
Luna Lovegood: So true. You’re right, you’re correct. You are insane, your mental illness is getting worse every day, but, at least you have a good sense of fashion. Gay vibes, stop playing with your septum please.
Tom Riddle: Nostalgia makes the good things seem great. S’just a phase, I promise. Is like the default settings when you start reading/watching HP.
Voldemort: This was the perfect outside-the-box pick, like, 10 years ago, but so many people that didn't wanna be mainstream picked it that it became mainstream. Please stop with that superiority complex, you’re a very ordinary human being.

hi! hope you are doing well. can i request a draco x reader where he finally realises and accepts he is in love? talking to reader about and idk how its hard for him to express feelings? thanks! 💕
Hello, I’m very happy that you requested a fic! I’m not very close with Draco's character, I am not fond of him myself, but I would love to do this shot. I hope it will be alright, and up to your expectations. :)
Side note: If you have requests for Harry Potter please send them to me, I am back at my hp phase.
Warning: English is not my first language, I'm sorry for any mistakes or confusion.
Tumblr media
He was very confused, this never happened before, why is it happening now? He has been close with other people, why does he feel different with you? You are not that different from others, he doesn’t see what could make him think that you were something more than them. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to see you anymore, every time he saw your face, your silhouette, your hands, he felt an aching in his chest. He wanted to feel close to you, feel your hands on his, hear you say he is yours, that you liked him. But he saw that he could hurt you, wound you for life with his dark secrets, bad temper, and big emotions, that choked him. You were too important to him, and he would never forgive anyone, or himself if you got hurt, so he stayed away.
He thought it would pass away, that if he wouldn’t see you he would be free. But it only got worse, with you living in his head, and your voice calling for him at every moment. He wondered how long he could go on like this, avoiding you, but desiring your presence close to his. He felt like this would last forever, he couldn’t let his feelings out, even if he wanted to, he couldn’t say anything through his throat about his feelings. He was thought to hide himself and his wants. But he wanted to be better for you, he wanted to change his ways for you, try to learn something from you, and for you to be proud of him. At night it was the worse when Draco lay down in his bed with his mind screaming at him. He would think of you and feel how much he missed you, even though you were not that far away from him. But he felt like you were because of how he convinced himself that he would destroy you if he got closer again. But he felt a sudden and short light feeling in him while thinking one night. Maybe if he told you you would bring him out of this paradox, he was in. Maybe you could be there for him and try for him too. This thought made him sad but determined to try anything to feel a little bit better.
So he tried, he went to find you inside Hogwarts castle. The classes ended and students wandered around the castle, doing whatever they wanted. Draco was walking at a fast pace, looking for you everywhere. He finally stopped when he saw you sitting in the Great Hall, with your books on the table. He felt this familiar aching in his chest, but he ignored it this time. With a shaky breath, Draco walked towards you. “Is this seat taken?” he asked when he stood above you. You turn your head to look at the owner of the voice, and smile when you recognize Draco's face. “Draco! No, take a seat. I didn’t see you for a long time, did something happen?” you asked as Draco took a spot next to you. He was silent for some time, repeating things he wanted to say in his mind over and over. You start to get concerned. You put your hand on Draco’s shoulder. “You know you can tell me Draco.” The boy next to you moved his sad eyes to look at your face. Draco opens his mouth, his lower lip trembling. “I don’t know if you want to know.” “Know what?” you ask, frowning slightly. “What I want to tell you may push you away from me.” he looks away, hiding his eyes. You felt hurt by Draco’s words, he didn’t trust you? You were friends, right? What was it that he was hiding? And was it as scary as Draco said? “I want to know, Draco,” you answered with a serious tone of voice. Draco looks at you again. “I feel that I… I may have…” “Draco,” you say, replacing your hand off his shoulder to his back. “I may have, fallen in love with you.” Something in your chest has risen, your hand on Draco's back tenses. You sit there in silence, Draco lowers his head with a painful look on his face. “You have feelings for me?” Draco does not respond in any way, just sits there with blank eyes looking forward. “Draco, answer me.” “Isn’t it obvious?” he answers, still not looking at you. “I didn’t know,” you say quietly “why now? Why not earlier?” Draco closes his eyes. “I just felt like I didn’t have any changes.” “Why did you think that? I never give you any snigs that could make you think that." Draco gives you a side eye but abandoned your sight again. You sigh heavily, you two sit in silence, both sides not knowing what to say. You want to tell him that you feel the same, but something in his behavior makes you back down. You observe his face, his chin resting on his palm. He looks tired, sad, and occupied. You don't know what to do to comfort him. "I am sorry. I should not say that." Draco spoke. "Why do you feel that you shouldn't?" "I just shouldn't. It will destroy everything, and make everything harder again." he clenched his teeth, with his eyebrows frowning. You sigh, look at Draco, and with hesitation lean onto his shoulder. He feels how your head rests on his shoulder, and how happy it makes him, feel but does he deserve it?
"It's just hard, these feelings. I don't know how to cope with them, I know that I need to work with myself to get to that level where I can live with those emotions. But I just feel that I don't want to work with myself, I know I should but something is stopping me, you know?" You look at Draco, seeing how hard this is for him. You see how his hand wants to enclose with yours, but he's stopping himself. You reach for his hand, you feel how cold it is, how it trembles under your touch. He looks at your hand holding his, your fingers linked with his. He feels so relieved with your touch on him. "I understand everything Draco. I know what you are feeling is hard for you. But I want to assure you that you deserve better. I know it's hard to accept yourself, and you need time to feel fully ready to love others, but I want you to know that I will wait for you. I know you, and I want you to be happy. I will always be there for you if you need someone, but I won't pressure you to give yourself to me. I love you." Hearing your words Draco feels how everything in him is shaking with happiness, love, and fear. His heart is racing, he wants to say something to you, thank you, say that he loves you. But nothing will go through his lips, and you are still with him. He brings your hand to his lips and brushes his trembling lips against your skin. You smile at him and squeeze his hand, while he smiles slightly at you.

Non-canon disabilities and mental illness *1
Alastor as a Voodoo practitioner*2
Explicit sexual content *3
*1 If I’m going to represent a marginalized group, I’m going to do my best to do so respectfully, even in fanfiction. If I’m not confident in my ability to do that, then I may choose not to.
That being said, I’m down to research and I have lived experience with chronic pain and a few mental illnesses. I am extremely confident in my ability to project my own experiences onto my blorbos, and do so quite frequently.
*2 This is mainly for the same reason I won’t write non-canon disabilities. Voodoo is highly misrepresented and I don’t want to contribute to that. I may write him as a past practitioner depending on the circumstances and as long as his current magic is not Voodoo-based.
My personal headcanon is that he grew up practicing Voodoo and ancestral magic, but burned bridges in the pursuit of power and lost support because being a serial killer is generally frowned upon. I usually write his current magic as non-specific, demonic, or Eldritch in nature.
*3 My ability to write explicit sexual content varies, so I’ll be taking this on a case by case basis.
Won’t Write – This Fandom-Specific Content:
Note: These are due to personal preference, deeply ingrained headcanons, and nunn’yuh (none ya business). I am not judging or condemning any of these ships/headcanons/etc. or people who make fanworks involving them; it’s just a comfort thing.
Hazbin Hotel:
Rosie in an NSFW context
Chalastor
Alastor x Niffty
Angel Dust shipped romantically with women
Vaggie shipped with men
The Witcher:
Yennefer bashing
Ciri (including adult!Ciri) shipped with any Wolf School Witcher

Won’t Write – This General Content:
Note: A good deal of this section falls under Kinktomato or YKINMKATO (Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That's OK)) and DLDR (Don’t Like, Don’t Read) – just like, with writing instead of reading.
I’m not here to take sides in shipcourse or police other people’s writing; this is, again, about my own comfort level with writing certain topics. That’s it.
Scat/watersports/emeto kink
Adult x minor ships
Underage NSFW/smut/explicit, including any underage kink

Detailed or romanticized non-con *1
Detailed or romanticized dub-con *1
Detailed or romanticized suicide *2
Detailed or romanticized self harm *2
*1 I can write aftermath of non-con/dub-con or attempted non-con/dub-con, but will not go into detail or portray it as in any way positive. I won’t write the reader or a canon characters as the perpetrator, unless it’s already in canon – AKA: The Valentino Exception. This does not include negotiated CNC, which I would consider writing under specific circumstances.
*2 Any time I write content involving suicide or suicidal ideation, I write with the National Recommendations for Depicting Suicide in mind.
The way suicide is portrayed in fiction can have real world consequences:
“Studies have shown that both news reports and fictional accounts of suicide in movies and television can lead to increases in suicide. In contrast, when depictions are done responsibly, the media can help to encourage help seeking, dispel myths, and reinforce hope – and ultimately save lives.”

Forays Into Fandom
I felt it would be appropriate for one of my first posts on Tumblr to be about fandoms, and I’ve had this bouncing around in my head for a little while, so I wanted to share it. Basically, it’s my timeline of discovering fandoms and hyperfixations on media as well as some thoughts on my experiences with fandom recently. Also, heads up, it’s pretty long XD
One day, when I was 8 years old, I was at over at my best friend’s house and found a book with an orange cat on the front of it. I was intrigued, and I asked to borrow it. From the very first page, I was captivated.
Thus, I was introduced to my first real fandom: Warriors (aka Warrior cats).
And the rest is history.
Over the years since then, I’ve had the joy of discovering many more fandoms. I was in many fandoms before I knew what the term was, and I wrote fanfiction and drew fan art before I was aware that those were things other people did.
Around the time I first found Warriors, I started discovering more fandoms, most of which were book-based and of the fantasy fiction genre. This kicked off what one might call my “fantasy phase,” which I would say is still technically going. Back when it started, however, it was marked by devouring any and all (mostly) age-appropriate fantasy books. As I said, I don’t think my fantasy phase ever stopped. But that time of my life was when my love for all things magical and mythical came alive. My tweens brought more fandoms, including bigger/more well-known fandoms like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, as well as smaller fandoms like the Books of Beginning, the Land of Stories series, and Michael Vey.
The next major milestone in my fandom life came when I started watching the TV show Once Upon A Time. OUAT was the first fandom TV show I ever seriously watched, and it introduced me to my first OTP: Captainswan. I don’t think I have ever fangirled harder over a fictional couple nor shipped characters more intensely. I literally put their wedding anniversary (the date their wedding episode aired, that is) on my Google Calendar: May 7th, 2017. I love Once Upon A Time so much; I love how hopeful it is, I love the fantasy elements, and I love the characters and their relationships.
Then, my Tolkien hyperfixation started when I went to go see The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in theater. It was my first Tolkien movie, and although people often criticize The Hobbit movies (myself among them), I will always be grateful for that film. It drew me into Middle-Earth and kept me spellbound throughout the entire movie. I had read The Hobbit when I was younger, for a book club, so I was generally familiar with the story: I knew Bilbo and the dwarves journeyed to Erebor to take back the mountain from the dragon Smaug. Despite the changes in storyline that they made for the movie, I was able to follow along enough to enjoy it. This led me to watch the other Hobbit movies and some behind-the-scenes/making of videos.
Right around the time I started watching Once Upon a Time and saw The Battle of the Five Armies, my mom started letting me use her Pinterest account (and then shortly thereafter, she let me create my own). Pinterest was my gateway into social media, and more importantly in this case, fandom media. I knew Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook existed, but I didn’t know of Tumblr until Pinterest. I was surprised and delighted to find that people posted online about books, TV shows, and movies that I enjoyed. Tumblr posts on Pinterests were how I learned of the term “fandom” in the first place. They were how I learned of the “golden age of Tumblr,” of SuperWhoLock, of iconic Tumblr posts (e.g., none pizza with left beef), and of fandom overall.
This marked another turn: I stumbled across a piece of fanfiction. And I was enthralled. Most of my reading was Hobbit and Captainswan fanfics. However, I felt quite guilty for reading it, because my parents had told me that I shouldn’t browse any websites they hadn’t approved first. I didn’t ask them because I was scared they would say no, since they didn’t know what it was. So although I enjoyed reading fanfiction, I felt like I had to hide it from my family. Finally, after two weeks of summer camp and vacation where I didn’t have access to any electronic devices that I could read fanfiction on, the habit was broken, and I stopped reading fanfiction. However, I dreamed that perhaps one day, I could admit what I had done to my parents and I could read fanfiction again. (More on this later.)
Because I needed something to fill the gap that fanfiction left, I decided to dive into Tolkien’s stories. I read Lord of the Rings and then took on The Silmarillion. Those took me into my freshman year of high school, along with Marvel movies—I started watching those with some of my friends, and Marvel was one of my top hyperfixations for quite a while. I also discovered a few other fandoms in high school that I really enjoyed: two of the more well-known ones would be Fablehaven and The Selection (the latter was my first taste of a romance-focused series). I was still an avid Once Upon a Time fan, though my hyperfixation on it waned when season 7 aired (I didn’t watch past the first couple of episodes because the majority of the main cast was gone and the overall story was different).
In late high school, after Once Upon a Time had finally ended and my Marvel hyperfixation started dying down, I began watching Doctor Who. I had always thought the show sounded interesting, but it wasn’t until a friend of mine insisted I sit down and watch the first couple episodes with her that I decided I wanted to watch it. (I have never, ever watched a show for which I have gotten SO many spoilers. Never. Most of that was definitely my own fault, because I had seen lots of SuperWhoLock content on Pinterest and I wasn’t super careful about avoiding spoilers once I started watching the show, but occasionally I would just run into something on social media or a friend would tell me something. I still haven’t fully caught up on the show, lol.)
When I started college, I found a roommate who, among the many amazing things about her, shared a love of fandoms with me. We had a lot of big fandoms in common, but also some smaller or less-known ones too. Because of this, we have had tons of discussions about different fandoms, watched TV shows and movies together, and freaked out about new announcements concerning fandoms. To this day we still do those things; we’ve been sending each other stuff about the upcoming Percy Jackson TV series, and we watched the first two Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials together.
Another turning point came when I discovered the band Greta Van Fleet in 2021. Before this, I had enjoyed different bands, but I had never really found a favorite band, so to speak: one where I liked all the songs, where I knew all the members’ names, where I kept up to date with their tours, where I watched interviews with the band, where I knew lots of background info about the band, etc. Most times, I heard a few songs from a band and went “They’re cool, but I’m not hooked.” This time was different. I really liked their first song I heard, Talk On the Street, so I decided to check them out. I listened to their songs and thought, wow. Their songs match my taste in music SO well! I was like “YES, I’ve found a band that plays the exact kind of music I like to hear!”. Another reason I liked the band was that the songs were not all about drinking, drugs, and sex. Most of them were about other, more philosophical things, without any loss of rock ‘n roll. This, I would say, is really where music and fandom collided for me. A band fandom (“banddom”?) definitely feels different than a media/fiction-focused fandom, because these are real people, and as such, I’ve drawn different boundaries in terms of how I engage with it. My hyperfixation on Greta Van Fleet has calmed down a bit, but they still have a very special place in my heart.
My newest fandoms are Inkheart and Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows, which I discovered in 2022. Inkheart was one of the books that had been on my to-read list for forever, and I finally decided to read it. I absolutely loved it (and the sequels); the style really took me back to the start of my “fantasy phase” when I was younger. As for Shadow and Bone, one of my friends persuaded me to watch it, and one night when I didn’t have any schoolwork, I decided to watch a few episodes. After the third episode, I was invested enough that I had to finish the first season, and then I read the books before the next season came out. I hadn’t realized before what a large fandom the Six of Crows books had, but upon reading the books, I immediately understood why—the character arcs and relationships are so compelling, and the setting and plot aren’t what I would expect of the typical fantasy world in fiction. (Interestingly, Inkheart and Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows are the first two fandoms I have published fanfic for!)
Sometime during college, I started reading fanfiction again on and off. And I found myself comfortable with admitting to my parents/family that I used to read fanfiction, and that I read it now. I haven’t discussed it with them further, and still don’t really talk about it much (though sometimes I'll tell my sister about fics I’m reading). January 2023 saw me getting back into reading Tolkien fanfiction, especially Tolkien fanfiction. I found some of the old fanfics I had read during my first fanfiction era, and I felt like I was 14 again, reading the stories I had read back then. I reached out to one of the authors, and it gave me so much joy to tell this person, “Hey. I couldn’t tell you back then, but I read your stories years ago and they’re some of my favorite stories. Thank you.” I’ve kept reading Tolkien fanfiction since then, and weirdly enough, it prompted me to read The Silmarillion again (it was my third time through, and it was the easiest time I’ve had reading it by far). I’ve been in the grip of the Tolkien fandom all year, and I’m planning on sharing a “Fanfiction Wrapped” soon (well, it’s going to be a fic rec list, but now I’m thinking of doing a real Fanfiction Wrapped…lol) for my favorite Tolkien fics I’ve read this year, as well as the handful of fics for other fandoms I discovered in 2023. I’ve found so many great stories and wonderful authors this year, and I want other people to get to experience the joy of new stories and authors too. Plus I love finding fanfic rec lists, so I thought it would be fun to do a rec list of my own.
For so long, I didn’t realize how much of a community aspect there is to fandom—and I think that’s because my parents kept me safe from the internet. I understand that and I will always be grateful that they kept me protected from really nasty, dangerous things that are present on the internet. I don’t feel any resentment towards my parents for that whatsoever. But now, as an adult in my early 20s, I’ve discovered that I can make my own choices about the community side of fandom and how much I choose to participate in it. It’s still something I’m pretty tentative about, at least when it comes to posting publicly; I’m very aware that anything that is put on the internet may very well be there forever. Public Discord servers feel a bit more private, because you have to join them to see the conversations taking place there, but they’re still public. Especially at this point in time, internet safety and privacy is quite important. However, you can still have fun while being safe, so that’s what I’m hoping to do. I’ve created this blog, I’ve joined some public Discord servers for fandoms, and I’ve even posted fanfiction. I have no idea how much further I’ll go into the online world of fandoms and fandom community—or just into the world of internet interaction and posting in general—but I’m interested in seeing where the journey will take me.
And who knows, maybe there’s a kid (or teen, or young adult) out there like me, who is tentatively taking their first steps into fandom and figuring out what this is all about. If that’s you, hello! And if not, hello to you too!
At the start of the year, I discovered the song “Still Into You” by Paramore through a YouTube compilation of Hobbit TikToks. (Yes, I know, I’m literally 10 years late to the game on that song, lol.) But it made me think of all my fandoms that I’ve had hyperfixations on and that come up now and again, like the Tolkien fandom.
So, to my fandoms: after all this time, I’m still into you :)

the dd fanfic writers slowly fading is SO SAD to watch. like in january i used to refresh the mattfoggy tag on ao3 like 3 times a day and there would be several new fics every time, now there’s only like 1 fic every two days :(
I KNOW RIGHT!! I watched season 1 of Daredevil when it first came out but dropped off between seasons because there were other marvel things I was more interested in but the fact is that the fandom was active for way longer back then! Even though there was a "Daredevil Renaissance" it was incredibly short-lived and it sucks
actually, I've had this rant prepared for a long time so I'm sorry anon but I'm going to take your ask and run with it. So one of the bigger topics of discussion in fan studies is the shelf life of fandoms. Generally speaking, the fandoms that last the longest are serialized works. The best examples are tv shows: star trek, superwholock, x-files, etc. Why is this? the generally accepted answer is that there is a perfect balance of content and no content. You watch the episode and then you think about it for a week until the next one airs and the cycle repeats. You go see a movie, you'll think about it for a week maybe watch it again but eventually, you run out of things to think about. The formula for fandom is frustration+passion, enough time without content is going to increase frustration and diminish passion. This is why Harry Potter still has a thriving fanbase, the books were a series and the movies were a series, there's a lot of passion in the potential and the nostalgia and a fuck ton of frustration. So now that tv is less serialization and more binging, there's way too much content with no time to process it, audiences can find neither frustration nor passion, they simply binge.
okay but Daredevil was originally released as a binging series why did the fandom have such a short shelf life the second time around? Well for one, it's a good show and there was a lot of time between seasons. but two, the original fanbase probably watched marvel movies but they didn't have the mcu mindset yet. The mcu is serialized, it releases things with enough time between to process it but not so much time that you forget it exists, this should be the perfect Petri dish for fandom, right? My working theory is that the mcu is trying to have the best of both worlds with transformative and affirmational fans. There's plenty of merch to collect and trivia to memorize, but there are also lots of character moments and missing scenes to expand on in fic. I mean they even try to queerbait fans, they don't do it well, but they try. The mcu is trying to create the fandom of tv shows and movie franchises and they have, but the fandom model they really should be replicating is comics. Comics fans usually just have their one character or team and then are loosely aware of other things happening in the larger universe for whenever there's a company-wide event (which use to be few and far between but that's a different rant). Because comics are serialized and the big favorite characters were always going to have a book, transformative comic fans were small but consistent. But because the mcu are movie adaptations, they simply can't function like comic fandom. If you're watching the mcu, your fav may show up in a movie for a minute and that'll jump-start the fandom, but it doesn't change the fact that they haven't had a story or development since their last thing.
The mcu is huge, but it is migratory within itself (a largely unique and unstudied phenomenon in fan studies). Mcu fans engage with the mcu like it's a tv show, always waiting for the next episode or season, but because they're really so unconnected, so are the fan works. (this is not a dig at phase 4, this is a dig at the mcu as a whole because it can't tell a complete story like a tv show or film franchise without having one director and a start and an END point. It wants to be a film franchise and a comic book run, but it can't be both.) There's too much content demand of the audience and it's weird that it's all connected. It's weird that I have to watch the iron man movies to understand what's going on in the spider-man movies, that's not how it is in the comics, you just read the spider-man comics and maybe Tony Stark shows up and there will be a little foot note directing you towards the important iron man issues, but you frankly don't need to read them. There's too much content and fans can't possibly be invested in all of it. It's like if you were watching Supernatural and after season 3 we had to watch a prequel about Cas and it's only until two season of that, that Dean gets brought back, you probably wouldn't remember why you cared about Dean in the first place. Like audiences can only reasonably be invested in a team of 3 to 7 heroes, you could maybe push it to 9 or 10, but frankly, 5 is the sweet spot. Having over a dozen heroes that all have dynamics and stories is too much for me as a fan to keep up with and frankly it's too much for directors and writers to keep up with. There's so much happening all the time and there are wildly conflicting tones and fans are expected to not only watch it but remember it!
The Daredevil renaissance was over the minute the thor love and thunder trailer dropped because mcu fans are not behaving like comic book fans—picking and choosing a fav to stick with—but like tv fans. Mcu stans are fans of marvel movies first and their fav second. But like if you're a Daredevil fan—someone who likes gritty street-level heroes that are very grounding in personal drama—I wouldn't recommend high-concept sci-fi like thor or wandavison, I'd maybe tell you to watch falcon and the winter soldier, spy movies are kinda like detective crime thrillers, but there's nothing to keep you engaged with everything at least not in a transformative way. Like this method of producing content is great for people that want to watch movies once or twice and move on, but if you're someone that likes analysis and creation, you going to get burned out fast.
the problem is that there is too much content and not enough at the same time. The release schedule for phases five and six is terrifying, that's way too many movies at once. Even if by some miracle they are all high quality in every aspect, fans will not have enough time to thoughtfully think about it, discuss it, make fan works, and make decide what they want next, etc because the next thing will already be there. Like it's not marvel's job to cultivate a fandom, they want as much money as possible so more projects mean more ticket sales because people aren't seeing these movies twice in theaters. It's a cash cow and a terrible way to make art and it's disrespectful to the comics and all the creatives involved in the project. But hey that's capitalism baby. If you are really taken with a movie or show and you want to make a fan work for it, you'll have to do it fast for people to see it because they're only checking the tag for a week max. On the other hand, there's not enough content. There is a huge Moon Knight fan base and they're probably not going to get more content till phase seven. The show was good, but not cult classic good, no one will be around to watch the next season unless they give Moon Knight a cameo in one of the next movies. But at some point that gimmick is going to get old especially if it's like the Matt Murdock cameo in no way home because like...he didn't do anything, he wasn't important to the plot, there's nothing new to work with here.
like listen, Matt's going to get some more fics once She-Hulk airs and once Echo airs and he gets his own show, and freshmen year happens. Wait a second we're back at the too much content problem. All these projects are happening at the same time people are going to have so much Matt, but unless he's got a compelling story that runs through all those shows and changes him as a character, he's just another set piece no different than the glowing sky beam. All these projects have different writers and directors, mcu matt won't be Netflix matt (like god come on, that "I'm a really good lawyer" line was fun at the moment but when has matt ever said something like that in the show?) Comic fans understand that your fav is going to go do a team-up with another character and it's probably going to be out of character because it's a different author, hell sometimes your fav just has a terrible run and you IGNORE IT. You pick and choose canon with comic fandom especially when you're writing fic and you only want the storylines that respect the character and tell meaningful stories. Mcu fans haven't figured out how to do that because they have to watch everything and like everything or otherwise they've waste years of their life on this franchise. And it's like...yeah you have, these movies are military ads with a CGI coat of paint, but like sometimes a bad movie is just a bad movie and you either write a fix-it fic or you ignore it. Disrespectfully I ignore the entire comic civil war arc because I hate it and it's boring and spits in the face of a lot of growth and characterization (also Nick Fury makes Susan and Johnny Storm go undercover as husband and wife and it's like what the fuck marvel)
and so yeah. Bascially my point is that the mcu is trying to be both a comic franchise and a movie franchise but it is impossible with the constraints of the mediums and they should just commit to making good content even if it means that there's less of it. They need to find a way to assure fans that not everything needs to connect in a big cosmic plan, but it can still connect in a shared universe that feels lived in. Like I don't need Ms. Marvel to team up with Thor and Jessica Jones to fight Galaticus. like just let there be different levels of heroes and fans should just pick their favorite and stick with that. This as much content as fast as possible model may be good for making money in the short term but this will likely exhaust fans, affirmative and transformative alike, and will probably mean an unresponsive fan base in the future and this will result in fewer fans that they have to squeeze more and more money out of with no new fans coming in because you have to watch almost two decades of content (oh wow they're closer to the comic industry than I thought lmao)
yeah these fandoms have an incredibly short shelf life because Marvel doesn't take risks with their storytelling, there is no frustration or passion, only bright colors and flashing lights. Fans don't have time to develop complete thoughts about a work that goes past "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" much less develop their own creative work in response to it. the reason the Daredevil renaissance was so fun was that not only were people discovering this character for the first time, they were going back to old fanworks as well as making their own. Read old fanworks more often, I promise they're still good. That original Daredevil fanbase had lots of content stretched out for a long period of time, they had time to sit with it and think about it and analyze and create about it. But the mcu fanbase does not allow that because there's always the shiny new toy and as a fan creative, it's discouraging knowing that if I just got this fic out a month earlier people would have cared. So you stop posting because suddenly there's no passion, only frustration.

pattern art to get in the fall spirit and take up space while I do a life update. I've accomplished a few things, books, video games and then some life issues.
So easy stuff first I guess. I finished one of my goals of reading a Harry Potter book in spanish. I read the first book. It took me all year because it was a major brain fart/humbler. Reason why I chose HP was because its made for kids and it was familiar. I did NOT understand everything but luckily digital devices come equipped with a translation dictionary. About halfway through the book is when I had my first notebook with my art made. Whenever I get to book 2 my plan is to write down words that I had trouble with. There were 3 words in the first book that showed up frequently that kept confusing me but I didn't write them down haha. So I cant tell you.
I have a rant about another book I'm reading, Ill wait til I'm done
--games--
Secondly I finished playing Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West back to back. That took me..ages..when I first turned on HFW I was like "oh..thats the map..this is tiny" and well somehow I put double the man hours into the sequel than the original game with the DLC. Think I finished HZD in 50 or 60 hours after completing everything that game had to offer. 100% completion. HFW Id been playing for 90 and I didn't complete everything and just kinda said "eff this" and finished it. I like open world games. I'd play a third game, probably wont get to a dlc I dont generally do those on purpose.
My issue is though is I still don't like the character designs. I think HZD was the superior game. I kind of like the doom and gloom apocalypse back story and I like the idea of our modern life being somebody elses ruins. I like that. But everything else, the over story, the character designs..its like putting a jak and daxter style design on a serious story of The Last of Us. It didn't go. We needed to either choose if we were being serious or not. The sequel I enjoyed the gameplay but I think it suffered from being a sequel. Its getting too big for its britches. I dont like the space stuff. I dont like the immortality stuff.
so not my favorite game of all time but I'd play another.
I was playing disney dreamlight but I think Ill move on here soon to Ooblets to fill in time.
---
Lastly life.
--
My grandma died. It was not unexpected especially after seeing her for the final time a few weeks ago and I could tell she wasn't going to make it much longer. The thing that kinda bothered me or reassured me the most is..atleast gramma wasn't aware of what was going on. She's told me to my face how much the death of her siblings years before traumatized her and how she's afraid of dying. Really afraid we're all going to hell. If she could see herself on her deathbed she would absolutely freak out.
seeing her at the viewing again, was kinda sad. She just looked uncomfortable. People say "atleast now they're at peace" nah, gramma looked just as uncomfortable as when I saw her the other weekend. Its amazing how my brain remembers her from a few years ago and that viewing-experience just did not look like the gramma that I knew.
its just another phase of life coming to an end.
we've had it rough this past year. Husband lost his dad, we lost our cat at the same time and I've lost 2 grandmothers.
My work called me off the entirety of last week so I havent worked in over a week. Todays my first day back and I was asked to come in late. So I'ma have like..no paycheck..but whatever I guess.
so anywho I havent managed to be creative. I did manage to draw a bit yesterday so I may paint something but I dont know think it'll meet any sort of standard or expectation.

Zee what fandoms do you think the YR characters are in? 💜
That is a good question, Meg, and I will do my best to figure this out. It may take me a long time. We did indeed have to talk through these with Dani. Some of these are going to have very well thought out explanations, and others will absolutely have nothing:
I feel like Wilhelm would be in like the Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows fandom. He would have been well read growing up, because reading is kind of a hobby that is universally seen as "proper." I feel like he'd pick up fantasy books just to escape for a while. It would probably make him feel more normal (even these characters in this highly unrealistic world are still just like him - anxious, queer, wanting an escape). He was excited when the Netflix show got announced.
Simon is in the Beyblade fandom, if that's a thing. I have evidence for this one - the towel from the S2 stills. He loves gaming online, and he loves gaming in person. He and Ayub had Beyblades growing up. The show was his gateway drug into Anime. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that he's an avid anime fan, but he certainly has a few that he watches and rewatches.
Nikita answered this for me in the video from this morning, but Felice is in the Sex Education fandom. She loves the drama and the comedy and the sex. She relates it to her life, and she relates it to her friends' lives. Sometimes she talks about it so much that people get annoyed.
Sara had a Power Puff Girls phase. I have no evidence for this. I cannot explain mine and Dani's thought process. This just clicked. Sara likes the Power Puff Girls. Also My Little Pony, but not as much, which surprised everyone because that one has horses.
Henry would be one of those guys that claims he "doesn't do fandoms" because they're cringy, but then he makes fancams of his favorite football (soccer) players. And he has a bazillion edits saved on his social medias of those same players. And his room is decorated with the colors of his favorite team.
Dani and I have absolutely nothing to back this up except ✨vibes✨ but Walter was playing Kingdom Hearts before it was cool and he was playing it after it was cool. He's got group chats and stuff for it.
August might be part of the Harry Potter fandom. Again, I don't have much to back this up other than pure vibes. He, like Wille, would have been really well read as a child because of how proper the hobby of reading and writing is. August doesn't strike me as a huge fandom guy, though. Like I feel like he enjoyed media in a casual way (unless, of course, the media is his cousin's sex tape. then he watches it many, many times).
Stella was 100% a Once Upon a Time defender. Dark and twisted fairytales are her shit. She adores it. She even enjoyed the last season of it when everyone else abandoned ship. No one will watch it with her, but it's her comfort show, so she rewatches it constantly.
Everyone must agree with this one. I do not care who you are or what arguments you have: Fredrika never once grew out of her One Direction phase. She briefly got distracted by FOO and 5SOS, but One Direction will always have her heart. She is still hoping they get back together. She has posters and notebooks and collectable items that cost more than the average house.
Vincent vibes with Game of Thrones. I have no evidence, I cannot tell you why I think this, but it is what came to mind. Dragons? Absolutely a Vincent hyper-fixation. Also, I headcanon Vincent as non-binary or gender fluid, and non-binary people and swords mix well.
I can't tell if Nils would be more into Star Wars or Marvel, but probably one of the two. Something nerdy that he will for the life of him pretend is not nerdy because "I am not a nerd!"
Many of them have written fanfiction for their fandoms. None of them will talk about it.
This post got so far away from me. I don't even remember writing half of it. I think I blacked out.
Thank you @the-navistar-carol for talking me through this 💀
Last Unhinged Hours before Season 2 drops.

Write. Listen to music. Play games.

2. One of my ball pythons, Marble, is a chimera and was hatched from the very first clutch of eggs bred by me (I no longer breed, they are all pets).
3. I used to be terrified of spiders and I’m still not comfortable holding them/handling them (not that they like being held/handled to begin with) but having to care for them has helped me otherwise completely get over my fear.

@skye707 tagged me! Hopefully that means I'll catch a stray Riddler..
CMON Arkhamverse, fingers crossed! Jkjk.
Ten of my favorite movies in no particular order!
This was hard af actually because as soon as I read it I forgot every movie ive ever seen. Suddenly, all cinema ceased to exist. Thanks brain.
That being said I did my best as-per my recollection and am probably missing things I quite love. Woopsie.
Rules: post 10 of your favorite movies and tag 10 people.
#1: Fantasia (1941)
This one has been my favorite since I was 2 years old. Beautiful art, Disney, and Classical music. It's just a win.
#2: The Phantom of the Opera (2005)
This is all of nothing like the book and my 15 year old emo ass really wanted Christine to go with the phantom despite all the red flags.
Now that I'm an adult I think they'd have been a lovely poly couple, and Erik needs counselling. That being said it's still one of my top favorite movies ever.. Who knew Emmy Rossom and Gerard Butler could SING?
I still love to play it and sing every word, the absolute chagrin of my daughter.
#3: Queen of the Damned (2002):
Anne Rice, Vampires, a soundtrack that quite possibly shaped my entire music taste for life--
This movie is honestly terrible, but in a SO bad its GOOD way. Cult classic 100%.
For an emo 12 year old in the early 2000's this was the best shit EVER, right there beside MCR.
#4: Pride and Prejudice (2005):
SOMETHING ABOUT ME: I love books. I love THIS book. and I love this movie based on this book. -- Mr. Darcy, you are a charmer.
#5: Yellow Submarine (1968):
Another one that's been a top favorite since I was only 2 years old.
I grew up on Beatles, and before I was emo (Around 9 years old) I had a hippy phase where I only wore tie-die and listened to 60s music, with Beatles being my top. This throws me back to them days every time.
#6: Minority Report (2002)
Let's get this out of the way first: Tom Cruise is batshit crazy as a person. I completely acknowledge this. That being said I think this movie is very well done and has a very valid moral that can forever apply to society and social justice as a whole.
It also had a very short run TV Mini series in 2015 (Without Cruise) that was a continuation/sequel of the movie, which I ABSOLUTELY loved just as much. There is only 10 episodes and I was SO sad it was cancelled
#7: Encanto (2021)
By far the newest one on this list.
Good music.
I'm in love with a 50yr old RAT man.
What else can I say?
#8: Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
Another book turned movie,
ANYTHING Shakespeare is always iconic, but I think this version is absolutely my favorite. Perfect casting, perfect acting, and Dr. Willson from House is one of the main characters! (You may also recognize Professor Trelawney and Professor Lockhart from Harry Potter as your two main characters. <3 When HP first came out I can tell you I was SO excited for something different than what everyone else was because It was awesome to see them together in the same movie again, for me, since I loved this farrrrr first.
#9: 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
a 90s classic, and ALSO a modern adaptation of another Shakespeare story: The Taming of the Shrew.
It's was very well done, modernizing (For the time) while still sticking to the story. Great cast, great acting, and an icon of the 1990s despite being a story of the 1590s.
I think this movie hit home in a way that other modern Shakespeare adaptations (Such as Romeo + Juliet (1996) and She's the Man 2006)) Missed the mark on. (Although, did you remember Channing Tatum was in that? I didn't! Haha.)
#10: Digimon: The Movie (2000)
Why? I can't tell you why. When this came out was at the height of me being super into Digimon. The art is different from the show in a way that I just vibe with. The entire movie just has a VIBE to it and it brings back good memories. ALL THE GOOD VIBES.
Honorable Mentions:
Counting these as ONE:
Batman (1989) Batman Returns(1992) Batman Forever (1995) Batman & Robin (1997)
SO despite having 3 different Batmans and only two being directed by Tim Burton, these movies ARE supposed to go together.
They are hokey, and for the most part I consider them a comedic AU, HOWEVER, that will never override a few things:
Firstly, these movies are what got me into Batman and Batverse originally, before the animated series came out.
Secondly, the animated series came out BECAUSE of these movies, and was at least loosely based on them (Which is why Selina was blonde in TAS, to tie in, though they later rectified that in TNBA)
And three, the ENTIRE aesthetic of the movie AND the musical scores being by Danny Elfman are their own works of absolute art that I will ALWAYS appreciate.
@caesariawrites @pharoahkittylover @arttimeoccasionallyimtired @just-an-enby-lemon @finzphoenix @geislieb @coffeeandconundrums @ednyxmatic @sh4pes-4nd-colors @spookyvoid

dol school love interests + wren and alex and what i think their favorite childhood series would have been
Robin: Magic Tree House
A Series of Unfortunate Events was a good contender, but it just hit too close to home. Don’t get them wrong, the books were good, but if they wanted to read about a miserable orphan coping with a shitty caretaker, they’d just write an autobiography.
Thoroughly read through every single book in the series, not just once or twice, but eight times. They could probably recite whole passages from memory. Orphans, especially under Bailey’s care, aren’t afforded entertainment, thus find ways to dissociate from their miserable existence busy their minds. Robin would have lost it years ago without these books.
It was pure chance that they discovered this particular series. Specifically, they selected a book at random from their middle school library, which also just so happensd to be the first of the series.
Whitney: Harry Potter
Now this may come to as a surprise, but Whitney is a diehard Harry Potter fan. I can feel it in my bones. However, let’s make one thing clear, this is not, nor will ever be, common knowledge. Even juvenile Whitney had a reputation to uphold, even if that reputation was just of him being an insufferable, half-pint delinquent.
Owns an abundance of merch, none of which they openly display. As if they’re into that bippity boppity boo bullshit, they’re not a nerd. Shut up before they make you. Now, if you were to somehow find your way into their closet, you may that it stores anything but clothes.
Vehemently loathes the golden trio, Harry Potter himself more specifically. Any clown foolish enough to express fondness for that assfuck orphan, his brain dead dog, and the know-it-all bitch within Whitney’s ear shot shall find themself befallen a great travesty.
Kylar: Warrior Cats
Talk about a fanatic; this is no mere phase, it’s a life long commitment. When you enter a relationship with Kylar, you also enter a non-negotiable relationship with their precious books. Has been attached to this series since primary school and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
Randomly makes various cat noises. (i.e. hisses at people who get too close to you, meows for your attention, purrs when you give them affection, etc.) Do it back. Seriously, do it. Instantly turns them on.
Unironically calls you their mate.
Please roleplay with them. Please.
Somehow always got a hold of every book before release. Their parents aren’t afraid to abuse their power for their precious baby.
Has not and will not ever read a single page of Erin Hunter’s spin-off series Survivor. Canines are the enemy; they’re no traitor.
Sydney: Dear America
Honestly, I remember very little about these books, but if what little memory remains stand to be true, then I just know little Sydney was obsessed. Outside of the temple, their passion for these historical works of fiction remains unparalleled even to this day.
For as long as they’ve been a library assistant, the series never seems to be available to be checked out. Sydney denies all allegations.
Owns a hardback copy of every single book, spin-offs included.
Wren: Goosebumps
In truth, Wren isn’t much of a reader (never having finished even a single book outside of school), but these books hold a special place in their heart.
Each book is the perfect length for this young smuggler’s near nonexistent attention span; a reliable source for those short bursts of dopamine they crave.
It’s not that they don’t like reading, per say, just that they’re dyslexic. Reading becomes a chore when you’re chasing words down on a page.
Their favorite books of all time would have to be Go Eat Worms and The Egg Monster From Mars. I have no good explanations for these, just vibes and a dash of projection.
Alex: Captain Underpants
I’m not quite sure how they first got a hold of the series, but they were hooked almost instantaneously. Their parents were more than happy to fund their latest fascination.
They hate reading, but they can get behind comics. They much prefer pictures to words and comics are chock-full of pictures.
If given the chance, I imagine they would have enjoyed Diary of A Wimpy Kid just as much.
Nowadays, the only thing Alex reads is the shampoo bottle label when they’re taking a shit.
