Bad batch thoughts & predictions ep 3

I wanna start having written reactions somewhere and predictions cause itd be fun I think to see what actually ends up happening and remembering what I thought at the time so im dumping it here, youre welcome. - wrecker wanting omegas food but not taking it because of what hunter said and then wrecker tries to adapt to consider shes a kid more throughout the whole ep is so cute but also its interesting cause we know the clones werent raised gently like that so its wholesome that theyre trying their best. - the scanner tech is making for the inhibitor chips is so important. They didnt talk about it a lot but YO HEAR ME OUT: so wrecker clonked his head when they crashed which they showed on screen but its 100% a cover up for this whole thing thats gonna go down. I feel like because wrecker talked about his head hurting a lot its more than just a simple thing- yes getting hit in the head hurts but my man was shot by crosshair and he complained about that less as far as we know and its a huge coincidence that they are making the inhibitor chip scanner at the same time. What if him hitting his head messed with his inhibitor chip and later they are gonna use the scanner and figure that out- maybe wrecker starts getting tempted to do bad things like crosshair. Cause in clone wars when the clones also got their chips messed with a lot of them would like rub there head or hold their head like it hurt also.

- The whole argument that random people are better to fight with than the clones is... so dumb to me??? I love the clones so bias maybe but it is not smart imo. The whole "oh but they will want to fight" thing is better than the clones made to do it?? Like, yeah, morally thats a good thing, maybe dont have clones as like literal fucking slaves for your war, but lots of clones liked it aside from the fighting itself? Like nobody likes the bloodshed but that goes for normal people too, but think of clones like hardcase who 'was just doing things to have fun' and even 99 who *wanted* to be a soldier so badly and wanted to have a moment where he could prove like his usefulness as a soldier and stuff. I get the clones are expensive but they are just vastly better. Yes the clones can train people which is their plan but like people will always be less loyal than the clones and hnnggg

- crosshair you fuckin bimbo didnt talk about how the soldiers wanted to not go with their orders like legit if crosshair said "They didn't want to do the mission" SO MUCH wouldve been different and thats wild because we all know theyd take crosshairs word on it since crosshair proved himself already and is loyal to them so if crosshair said 'actually it went bad at first' like bro

- omega has an ability and still have no idea what it is but its gonna be crazy when we figure it out cause im sure its something theyve been slipping a little into each episode and when we figure it out we're all gonna sit here like "wow we are fucking blind"

- Echo with a flashlight makes me realize something and now I worry for that boi ;-; : my mans has only one hand (which yes we knew) but I was so concerned when he was looking for the dragon holding the flashlight cause like bitch if that thing attacked him he literally cant shoot it and im sure he still has moments maybe where he tries to use his other hand like out of reflex for things and ;-;

- - I mean technically hes been like that for a while now but he was like brainwashed for a lot of it and while probably not im still worried they are gonna have that come into play somehow

- kind of about the other two episodes a little but: legit worried for the end of the show because they already showed 66 and that was like the big ending for clone wars and that hurt a fuck ton, and they STARTED the show with that, so like.... what the fuck is the sad thing theyre gonna rip our hearts out with at the end? I think 66 was definitely an interesting way to start because we get a better look at what went down afterwards and also that way its not super repetitive with tcw but like... yeah idk where or when its gonna end and we all know they are gonna do some shit like that again when the show is over so im excited but also deeply concerned.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch (01x01)

All right, I take back everything I said about this show; I should know better than to judge something by its trailer.

TCW did, and I am sorry.

Summary: We’re shown how Kanaan survived Order 66, we’re introduced to the character of Omega, and Crosshair abandons the group.

Comments: It’s unfortunate that the opening sequence is just more childish, TCW-style action because the rest of the episode is so competently executed. I mean, Tech literally just walks between droids placing grenade things on them as they forget to shoot him. Wouldn’t it be easier, cheaper, safer, and faster for him to just shoot the droids? We’re even treated to the cliché “perfectly round boulder rolls down hill” trick. Wasn’t that also in On the Wings of Keeradaks?

Aside from the opening sequence, this pilot was generally enjoyable and well-executed. We’re shown the young Kanaan surviving Order 66, fleshing out a bit of the backstory to Rebels. This was nice to see and working it into the “introduction” of TBB was a smart choice, since this is a story most of the audience can be expected to care about (by virtue of Rebels being competent television). It also serves as a spark to initiate the TBB plotline since it establishes the initial point of contention between Hunter and Crosshair that’ll drive the story moving forward.

Can I just say that Young Kanaan’s voice is f—ing creepy though? The character is played by the 45-year-old Freddie Prinze Jr... i.e., a child character has the voice of a fully grown adult male and it’s super distracting and weird as hell. Look, I loved Kanaan’s character in Rebels and Prinze Jr. did a great job with that material, but maybe cast someone else for this role so that your critical opening sequence isn’t polluted by weirdness?

Anyways, for the bulk of the episode, the pacing, execution, and Kiner’s music are all well done and I really have no major complaints (what!). There’s even long establishing shots! Which, oMG y'all they’re my absolute favorite. I could probably watch an entire movie of just establishing shots (looking at you, Lawrence of Arabia).

There’s subtle things happening in the background as well, which shows a lot of dedication and attention to detail on the part of the animators (and really comes down to the director doing their job). For example, Omega mimics Hunter in the prison cell (and again later while escaping), Echo gives Wrecker a “bruh, WTF” look after an inappropriate comment, and so on. These details are welcome, add some dimensionality to the otherwise pretty straightforward characters, and really help set this show apart from its schlock predecessor of cardboard cutouts.

That said, Wrecker gets pretty annoying simply because he has no character depth. He, quote, “likes to blow things up,” which itself is an over-simplification. Okay. Next time we see him he’s worried he won’t have a chance to “blow things up.” Okay, I get it. Later, he’s excited because he “gets to blow things up.” OKAY I F—ING GET IT.

Some other Disney-esque “Star Wars small universe syndrome” seeps into this as well, like... why doesn’t Admiral Tarkin have more important things to be doing in the galaxy during the formation of the Galactic Empire than supervising a crew of misfit clones? Is Saw Gerrera really the only Rebel we can show? Is inventing new, interesting characters to fulfil the same role still going to be a big “no no” on this show? Just gotta keep recycling old ones I guess? As I've said before, these types of things are important because they make the Star Wars universe feel like a really, really small place.

Anyways, the episode ends on two open threads: TBB is on their way to visit a friend and they’re helped in their escape from Kamino by the Kaminoan lady for unclear reasons. Neither one of these is a particularly strong hook, but I’m about to press the “watch next” button, so at least one of them did its job.

I promised a random anon I would give ‘em a more complete list of recs several months ago so here- in no particular order I have, Glee, Pretty Little Liars, Pitch Perfect, Girl Meets World, Supergirl, The 100,  The Good Place, and Riverdale. 

There’s very little porn without plot in here, but I went through my favorites on fanfiction.net and my history on Ao3 and if I recognized the fic I put it down. So some might have slipped through.

As I was going through these and rereading some old favorites I forgot about I wrote little bios. If your work, or a work you really like doesn’t have a bio it’s just cause I remembered it was really good and didn’t feel a need to reread it. If you want comment your own and I’ll edit the post and give you credit. 

The minimum qualifications for all of these were:

At least 2k words for a one shot, if it was a multi chapter there had to be at least 1k words per chapter (For example: 14 chapters, 14k words)

It had to be completed or updated in the last year ish (but like I was flexible based on the quality, and if I knew the author or the deal or not)

It had to be Ao3 or Fanfiction.net and tagged appropriately (so I could find it)

Also I never really got into g!p stuff because I ran into a lot of transphobic or just really offensive stuff early on which put me off of it.

Or the alpha omega stuff, when my goach found out I was reading fanfiction she said ‘great just nothing with alpha omega shit okay” and that was like four years ago but I don’t care enough now to start. So none of those are on here (maybe in faberry but I don’t think so)

At times the format takes away more than it adds but it allows the reader to compare and contrast the beginning and the end and see the character’s develop more clearly.

there is no sweeter innocence (than our gentle sin) - this author may or may not be a genius Imma go binge all of their works and let you know. This was vv good at least. One shot

we’re only young & naive still (the bittersweet between my teeth) - part of that gaf au (you can find here) that I love so much... just a one shot but the different perspectives are done really well which is a hard thing to do well

Before Words, Beyond Silence, and it’s unfinished sequal, In the Screaming Silence - it has that satisfying instant clexa connection while not sacrificing plot or angst, no trust me, it didn’t sacrifice angst. I think the ice queen plot was a little rushed but it’s still fantastic and I’m excited to see where the sequal goes!

Skylark -  A superhero fic that’s pretty damn cool. Clarke and the gang had illegal experiments done to them by Mount Weather and it gave them superpowers. They fight crime while trying to remain anonymous as well. This story is so clever and incorporates the City of Light/chips/ flame so cool, and Clexa are badasses, and just…read it, trust me. Come Morning Light - this author writes a lot of kid fics but this is one of my favorites. In character and well written with a heartbreakingly poetic style. I love it.

most ardently - like some of these authors fics are amazing (like this one) and some are dumb as shit and like? Are there co authors? Are you like multiple people? I don’t know but this was amazing, historical clexa is historical clexa. Has some themes of the suffragette au from my first rec list but carves out a nice space for itself.

Punchline - a oneshot where Clarke wanders around the world and runs into Lexa a lot except it’s angsty and beautiful and there’s a lot of imagery

The Taste of War and Heartache - angsty and unfinished this is another incredible work by thefooliam. I would ten/ten reccomend because where it leaves off is pretty okay. It’s a canon au but it has some modern elements for those who prefer that. Really a great fic.

A most a steamed creator has appeared, Hello Ink!Sans.

"All it takes is a leap into the unknown."

Ink a Sans with far more experience and birthdays then any man could possibly count.    His life is mostly a fog due to his forgetful nature, but most say that's to be expected with all he is meant to remember.  He'll tell you about timelines and his current multiverse he has settled into for the last five hundred years, but don't ask him who his first kiss was with, or what AU he first landed in after being reconfigured as a creator.  

Ink does know he is a lot calmer than he once was.  The worlds are not as new and he has seen timelines play out so many times that they have become a bad rerun.  He currently settles his boredom making new worlds and jumping from the Maison (french for home) timeline and the Omega timeline.  Mostly guiding his son Gradient through the steps of being a fill in creator back in Omega.  He calls the Maison timeline his home currently, and refers to his age as "The age of Error".   Due he has spent almost all of his time with the Maison Error since he arrived five hundred year preir.  

Ink's family life has not moved so much from how it has ever been.  Ink currently has three sons.  Two with Error and one with Dream.  they were created with mixing of magic, as Ink doesn't have a soul in order to house another soul.  (guys I promise I'll get to this I know I need to explain it.)  His first son PaperJam (PJ) showed up out of nowhere, and Ink guide the kid through the younger years, till PJ became tired of failing at holding creations and left.  His second son being Gradient.  He had to save Gradient from near death.  He took the child to Omega and began showing him how to watch over AU's.  His youngest son is Palette.  A child he had with Dream by accident.  Nightmare tried to steal Dreams Soul and Ink managed to take hold of it before the soul could be destroyed.  Later this caused Palette to arrive lost and crying.  Dream found him and because Error's unwavering 'no kids' policy Dream took the kid away.  Ink still visits each child.  two of three call him Papa, and one calls him Asshole.  (PJ come on the man is trying give him a better name than that...LEL sorry 7goodangel.)  

Ink has a terrible habit of making small portal puddles and jumping through them like its nothing.  Sometimes he will scare his friends by dragging them with him.  Though he honestly thinks its funny.  Ink hardly gets sick now a day though he vaguely is aware he would many lifetimes ago.  Though when he does it's from Fear, stress or excitement.  Ink also has a bad habit of second guessing himself, losing faith in his own plans and turning to someone for reassurance.  Mostly that's Error.  

Error is a tricky subject for Ink.  Meeting Ink at first Error hated him, and Ink was unclear why.  it took several years and a few life saving moments before Error trusted Ink as a friend.  They didn't become mates till Error was fighting against the mega fresh parasite along with some others in Glitchverse.  Ink managed to pull Error out just as he was watching a man he'd come to rely on start to turn to dust.  He drank his Purple Vile and Ink's body glowed bright.  A line of ink began to latch on to Error's soul, holding it together.  Ink poured magic between the two of them and for the first time he began to cry freely.  When Ink and Error came to, Error pointed out a mark on Ink's face.  The mark was in the shape of a Soul, and Ink explained.  "Each Tattoo on my body is a soul I saved personally, but they have never shown up on my face before."  The two began a life as 'Mates' from then on.

Ink's so called Brothers are the Star Sanses.  Dream and Berry were powerful finds and comrades to his goal to keeping corruption away from all AU's.  whether that was some demons or a monster they three fought side by side.  As Nightmares power and Army grew Ink began finding it harder and harder to be a creators and watch over AU's, and a Star Sans, and protecting each AU individually.  Time passed and he got and Idea as he watched young Drago naturally through himself between a demonic Chara and his mother.  The kid had both eyes blazing, He took the next ten years training Drago to step in as a new Star Sans, he still guilds the Stars and fights with them every now and again, but mostly he watches and fixes AU's that need to be fixed.

Ink's Colors.

Red - Anger/rage.

Orange - Fear and all its forms.

Yellow - Happy/Excited.

Green - Worry/jealousy (Jealousy also flashes with red sometimes.)

Blue - Sadness.

Purple - Love.

Shapes

Circle - Neutral.

Diamond - Overjoyed.

Triangle - Unsure.

Hourglass - Thought.

Question mark - Confused.

Exclamation mark - Surprise.

Abilities

At LVL 0

HP - His health depends on amount of magic or ink he has.  If he is to low he will pass out.  Ink Can't die.

Attack - 1

Defense - 1

Weapons -

Bruh-sh -  A almost as big as him paintbrush that can freely produce paint.  (Not Ink.)

Abilities

Shortcuts - A teleport from one place to another that is only a short distance.  (max within one mile.)

Portals - (A large paint splash or a paint dot on the ground.)  A doorway made to go from AU to AU.  Uses a lot of magic.

Radar - Ink can feel and detect Magic as long as the one he is looking for isn't trying to hide their signature.  This works best in the Doodlesphere.

SketchBook - A book he can make appear and create any item in and make it real.  doesn't work with things to eat or medicine.

NOTE!

Guys we are well aware that this Ink and @comyet / @myebi ‘s Ink don’t look alike.  Hell understand this Ink here is not Canon to her wonderful Skelly son.  We love her Ink and will always love him.  We put tons of thought into this and did do our research.  In Comyet’s FAQ’s it state we could use him.  If she wishes we remove him we would fully understand and do so respectfully and wish that anyone who ready Sanctuary would do the same.

Bad Batch thoughts & predictions Ep 12

Continuing these written reactions/predictions somewhere cause itd be fun I think to see what actually ends up happening and remembering what I thought at the time so im dumping it here, youre welcome. (Feel free to discuss if you want) if you want to keep up with it im gonna be tagging these as #jay rambles about bb

- So I sort of expected it by the end of last episode but it seems like last episode was a start of an episode arc about hera's family, which, for rebel's fans I'm sure it's cool and exciting and maybe answers some questions or will actually show things discussed in rebels maybe, but as someone who hasn't seen rebels yet, I really hope this episode and the next few have more bad batch screentime, cause we were a little robbed last episode lol (but in a way I do still enjoy this stuff too, because im sure when I DO watch rebels it'll make the experience better). -- I'm not disliking this arc or anything, but up to this point we've kind of had almost mandalorian style 'one episode one adventure' sorts of episodes, and personally I really hope we get more of that (which I think we will), because while this is all new content and everything, we all have to admit clone wars had some less interesting filler arcs here and there, and I just hope bb doesn't fall the same way (across all of its seasons, im not very concerned about it so far from what we've seen of season 1) because if there is filler, I'd rather sit through a couple of the one episode stories, rather than a 3-4 episode story that takes nearly a month to get through if im disliking it, mostly for the fact that even if we got those 1 ep fillers, its more stories and more likely I'd like at least one. ---kinda rambling about this unnecessarily atm cause while again right now I think bb is fine, I just want the future to be that way too. - fffff every time I see howzer on screen I think of that fucking audio thats "here comes the boy, hello boy~" and honestly can you blame me he is so precious like ugh I swear dave you better be nice to him -- YOU CAN TELL HE FEELS SO BAD AND GUILTY LIKE IT HURTS - hey admiral can you not be MEAN to howzer when he is trying to be fucking helpful -- ;-; BRO im saying it so much already but I feel so bad for howzer like dude someone help him --- imo it feels like its sort of setting up howzer for something more important in the show kinda, at least for his character. Like we can clearly tell he doesn't really agree with the empire and I think they're going to do something with that. He's probably undercover for someone against the empire but I get the bad feeling they're gonna pull a Fives and have him go against the empire and help everyone else somehow but then he will probably end up dead because we cant have nice things. - hello cross... bet you wont be saved this episode - Ok good, some more bad batch here already. -- ALSO GONKY BEING DEFECTIVE!!!! EVEN GONKY IS DEFECTIVE LIKE BB THATS SO CUTE! - uh, im not the only one getting the leia transmission vibes from hera, right? -- ok, again I haven't seen rebels so I dont know BUT if hera has the ability to talk to bb, couldn't she have done so in rebels? Yeah she's older and im sure better at fighting and defending herself and all that, but wouldn't it still be possible for her to have gotten in some kind of rough situation in Rebels to ask for bb's help again? I super doubt bb made any appearance of any kind in Rebels, so doesn't that imply that she lost communications with them? What happens to bad batch >> - bad batch not wanting to help but because omega really wants to you can see its making hunter soften up and I appreciate it - bruh what??? Taa is dead af, like theres no way the show is gonna pull some magic and be like 'oh yep here he is' thing??? Like this has to be a lie, but even then, what even is the plan here?? Saying "oh hes recovering" well he can't be recovering forever, how does that seem like a good plan to lie about that?? People are gonna find out?? - "Great just what we need" from Wrecker about crosshair MAKES ME ANGRY LIKE??? YES?? DONT BE MAD AT HIM ITS NOT HIS FAULT??? SAVE YOUR FUCKING BOY??? -- oooo then the rest of bb doesn't comment about it literally gsjrkgbdkfbg why do they not care about him???? Like it seems they legitimately dont care about crosshair, even though theyve been together for so long like even before the show came out they

had history together and were all really close. I know people argue "oh well its just difficult to save him and its unrealistic for them right now" but so what? Even if they aren't trying to save him they should at least CARE about him. --- Which is also like the thing with echo and fives!!!! Like Echo didn't seem to care much at all when Rex mentioned fives even a little! Or even about seeing Rex that much!! Dave I'm gonna need some answers my guy, cause you humanized these characters but then you dont make them act that way so like whats up. - Lucky hunters abilities came in handy - Back to crosshair for a second im predicting they 100% arent saving him this season. There was a poster released part way through the season and he's not even on it... makes me so sad. - "I'd do the same for you." ;-; that didnt need to get that deep - CROSSHAIR BETTER NOT START SHIT WITH HOWZER - Howzer helping Hera's parents or at least implying that is good but that also means im right so far and therefore worried >> -- HES GOING TO GET FUCKING CAUGHT I BET TALKING TO THEM LIKE THIS AT SOME POINT AND HOW MUCH DO YOU WANNA BET ITS GONNA BE CROSSHAIR THAT CATCHES HIM --- Cham stfu its literally so obvious that howzer is trying to be genuine, also if he's kind of undercover for him like what the fuck do you expect howzer to do if he has to play along with the empire to keep his cover?? "Won't make that mistake again" Fuck off like honestly. ---- #stopbeingmeantohowzer2021 - "A little help" and the gentle "Hey" ahh love it - I'm really enjoying this whole them fighting in the ships sequence - "Stay here and guard the capitol" SCARES ME -- Please for the love of god bad batch don't get howzer killed --- or plot B Bad batch maybe run into howzer but save him and take him with you at least temporarily ---- oh god.... bb is helping heras parents escape and that means howzers gonna get in trouble.../probably replaced by crosshair - Crosshair is smart but thats also badddd - The scene of howzer and crosshair looking at each other is killing meeeeeeeee - Ohhh is howzer gonna stop them before they go out the door? -- YES HE IS SEE WHAT A GOOD BOY HE IS - (please fucking listen to him I beg) - Aw dude I just had a thought that breaks my heart... howzer cares about his squad and "trying to get through to them" but what if his squad is clones as well and the chips... that hurts me so badly... -- Like we all know howzer is a sweet boy by now but ughhh like the thought that he doesnt want to leave them even though they are doing whats wrong shows just how much he cares and I really hope he doesn't get into trouble because of what he's saying to them, but you know he totally would do it because he seems to care about them so much and :( bad batch more like sad batch --- This is the kind of compassion I wanted from bb for crosshair hunter kind of looks back at howzer as they leave him and I doubt itll mean anything but I really hope that maybe seeing how much howzer cares will make hunter care a little too... - *sigh* howzer is getting left behind by them which we know why but yeah... now he's definitely going to be in trouble... I just hope they don't hurt him... - OH GOD HOWZER BABY DONT -- He's making a speech and I know he's trying to sway them but you know damn well this is gonna go so badly for him because of the chips and crosshair is watching so you know howzer is gonna get fucked here and I know what hes trying for but I really wish he didnt just do that because now its blatantly obvious he's gonna be against them ;-; - Wow ok im kinda shocked people are siding with him (I guess cause theyre not all clones right) but I feel so bad for themmmmm - Crosshair missed multiple shots? Uh what? I didnt think that was possible lol - bb please come back for howzer and the others at some point.... -- I guess maybe if hera's parents are going to organize rebels against the empire maybe they will help them but I somewhat doubt it... - Ok I know that crosshair requesting to hunt them was supposed to be this big moment and all but I

can't help but feel like its a little underwhelming (but dont get me wrong still cool vibes) because he's kind of already been doing that anyway?? Or has tried to several times?? So I don't get why its a big deal, however, I do have a possible prediction: We know that bb got their chips removed, (crosshair doesn't, I know that) and so that eliminates the idea that they will get caught and actually go bad like crosshair, but it does leave a possibility where maybe they get captured and then *pretend* to be bad? And that could lead to a better possibility of helping crosshair (they wont) or maybe howzer and the other rebels or something? Cause I also feel like its significant that they brought up how the war will eventually come to them and bb will be a part of it no matter what eventually, and it makes obvious sense theyd be on the rebels side of it, so maybe something like that goes on, idk.
