It’s You I Like
Tumblr media
Vash/Reader, songfic, 1500+ words I don’t normally write Isekai stuff for Vash but this was too good an opportunity to pass up, and I ended up liking it a lot so maybe I’ll do more little drabbles with this specific isekai!reader
"Well, at least we managed to stock up on everything before we left."
“...”
“You said the next town was, what? About forty iles? Doubt we’ll make that tonight, but it’s not too bad considering.”
“...”
“So I can set up the sleeping bags if you want to get a fire going, how ‘bout that Vash? …Vash?”
“...Hm? Oh. Oh! Y-Yeah, no problem… Here, here’s this.” Even though Vash responded to you, his gaze hadn’t yet left the direction the two of you had just come from as his bag thumped into the sand next to you. Or rather, not so much came from as fled from. You were just about to make yourselves comfortable at the local inn for the evening when someone managed to recognize your red-coated traveling companion, and it wasn’t long before the entire town was hot on your tail. Miraculously, somehow, the two of you managed to escape the hailstorm of bullets completely unscathed and with all your meager travel gear intact, but now you found yourself far past the outskirts of the town and left to your own devices in the barren wasteland.
Not like you had any room to complain though. Considering your sudden and unorthodox appearance in one of your favorite series, you'd much rather cling to the familiar presence of Vash the Stampede than risk your luck bumming around any other town on this desolate rock. How fortunate were you to not only find the spiky protagonist, but also to have him listen to and believe your wildly unbelievable tale of woe. Mentioning the SEEDS ships helped, you supposed. Now wherever Vash went you had no choice but to follow.
Again, though. Definitely not a complaint.
Vash was still quiet as the two of you cobbled together your camping site at the base of a large outcropping rock. There was a small smile on his face, framed by the fire's amber glow. But even without having read the manga and watched the anime you could tell it wasn't a real one. It didn't quite reach his eyes.
"You were probably looking forward to an actual bed tonight, huh?" He joked, gaze never leaving the small fire. "Welcome to the life of an outlaw! I assure you, it's always this glamorous."
"It's no big deal! Camping's not bad either, at least when you have the sleeping bags."
He didn't look convinced by your words, but he nodded anyway, an uncomfortable silence falling between the two of you. You kicked your boots off and pulled your knees to your chest on top of your sleeping bag, watching the fire crackle.
"...Is it hard?"
"Hm?" When you glanced over to Vash he was finally looking your way, elbow propped up on his knee and his cheek resting in his palm. Despite the casual pose there was a melancholy behind his eyes, a deep remorse. "Is what?"
"Running around like this. I doubt you're used to it."
"It's… Well I won't lie to you, it isn't easy." Vash barked out a laugh at your brutally honest response. You pushed forward, unabated. "But honestly? I'm probably safer with you than I am anywhere else on this planet. I don't know any people, any places… The only thing I really know is you." A prickling heat began to crawl up the back of your neck at your openness, and you rested the side of your head down on your knees as if it would deter the sudden fluster. "I'm really lucky you found me."
That seemed to catch Vash off-guard, as he began to awkwardly fiddle with his cybernetic hand as his gaze flitted around. "That's, uh, I mean… you've got a pretty skewed idea of luck, I think. Heh…"
There was an awkwardness that fell in the next extended silence too, but it wasn't quite the same. It was a little softer around the edges, more vulnerable. Off to your side you could hear the soft clinking of Vash disassembling and cleaning his gun, bits and pieces placed carefully across his sleeping bag to make sure nothing was lost in the shuffle. As you stretched your legs out in front of you in a v-shape, you hummed softly to yourself as you watched the embers stir and crumble into the sand.
"What song is that?" You glanced at Vash, biting back a chuckle at his furrowed expression, tongue peeking from his teeth as he stared down the empty chambers of his revolver with a cleaning pick and a look of intense focus.
"It's a children's song from home. It's from an old TV show, I think." You hummed the first line a little louder, just enough so Vash could hear the melody over the fire's crackle. You doubted he even knew what a "TV show" was, but he didn't seem too fazed by it.
"Do you like to sing?"
"I like it. I'm average, I think, but I always have fun when I'm singing." Out of the corner of your eye you could see Vash looking at you again. "Oh, absolutely not. Not gonna happen."
"Hey, I didn't even say anything!"
"You didn't have to! I could tell by your face! I'm not gonna sing, it's embarrassing."
"No it's not! Besides, you said you like it. And it's a song from Earth, too! I wanna hear it." He probably didn't even realize it, but he was flashing you those big, sad puppy-dog eyes that he didn't yet know you couldn't resist. You let out a small, irritated whine, hand finding the back of your neck and resting on the flushed skin there as you drew your gaze back to the crackling fire.
"...Fine. Just this once. And don't… Don't say anything weird."
"You got it!" You could see him salute out of the corner of your eye, and couldn't help the quiet snort of laughter that came from you in response. Dork. The quiet click-clack of him beginning to reassemble his firearm returned, so now was as good a time as ever, you supposed.
"It's you, I like."
There was a sharp tink! of Vash fumbling part of the barrel and it clattering down into the remaining pile of gun parts, but you were far too self-conscious to glance over and gauge his expression.
"It's not the things you wear. It's not the way you do your hair, but it's you I like."
You could feel him staring, but you kept your eyes locked on the low, rolling flames.
"The way you are right now, the way down deep inside you. Not the things that hide you…"
Stretching your foot out just a bit, you tapped next to the pile of gun parts sorted neatly on his sleeping bag.
"...Not your toys, they're just beside you."
He chuckled, so quietly that he probably didn't expect you to hear it. But you did, and it made your face positively burn.
"But it's you, I like. Every part of you. Your skin, your eyes, your feelings, whether old or new."
You couldn't ignore Vash's continuous shifting around any longer, flicking your gaze over to him. He'd turned himself completely to face you, cross-legged, chin perched in his palm, a look in his eyes so soft it made your heart feel like it was thundering right up against your ribcage. Your voice wavered for just a note, but you pushed forward.
"I hope that you remember, even when you're feeling blue."
Blue, so blue, his deep cyan eyes finding yours and not flitting away, watching you so gently, yet so intently. Despite your embarrassment, you couldn't find it in yourself to look away either.
"That it's you, I like. You yourself, it's you…"
He seemed to lean in at your every word, like a sailor to a siren. You hardly found your singing to be enough to hypnotize like mermaids in old fairy tales, and yet here he was.
"It's you, I like."
With your song ended, the silence that stretched between you was only interspersed by the soft crackle of the fire. A sharp humiliation suddenly rushed through you, face burning hot at your own vulnerability. Seeming to blink his way out of a trance, Vash began to speak.
"That was-"
"GOODNIGHT VASH!" You yelped, quickly rolling over and burying yourself in your sleeping bag facing away from him, the edge of the fabric pulled all the way up to your nose. He didn't push, letting you curl up and wallow in your own embarrassment, the clicking of his continued gun reassembly peppering the background silence.
And then he began to hum. Quietly, carefully, he felt out the unfamiliar melody.
"It's you, I like."
You could hear the smile in his voice.
"It's not the things you wear."
Warmth blossomed in the pit of your chest, curling up around your heart and settling fluffy and light. He was a good singer as well, his lack of familiarity with the song the only thing slowing him down. But he continued, metal bits and parts snapping together under careful hands as he sang your song.
"It's not the way you do your hair…"
Eyelids dipping heavily, you let them slide shut, Vash's voice filling the empty wasteland and pooling low and sweet in your tired mind.
As sleep began to fog at the corners of your mind, you were completely oblivious to Vash's fond gaze upon your bundled-up form as you began to drift into unconsciousness.
"...but it's you, I like."

▽ Subway to Stardew - Adoptable Joltik ⚡️
This would play after Emmet's 8 heart event and getting Joltik up to 8 hearts as well.
I released a separate mod specifically for adopting Joltik, so you only need to get them up to 8 hearts to adopt them! You can do it right now!
Adoptable Joltik Mod Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21002
Tumblr media
And of course... Commentary under the read-more.
Joltik's adoption event sat in the drafts for quite a while. It took me whole a day to implement and I didn't let myself sleep until I finished everything. (It's 1 PM now...)
The event ended up wildly different because of how extra custom pets are implemented. You would think that they would be added in the same way as you get your cat/dog that you select during character creation. No. You have to buy a license. Only Marnie is authorized to sell them.
Here's the original script for Joltik's adoption event:
[Joltik Adoption Event]
Emmet: @! Joltik likes you verrrrry much. They want to stay with you. I'm letting you adopt them. Yup. I filled out all the paperwork. The Joltiks are legally documented now.
I never gave ours a name... Galvantula wouldn't let me. She is verrrry picky about it. But that's okay. Joltik is yours. You should name them. She came along for approval. So. What name should I put on the adoption form?
[Name input box like Marnie's adoption thing...]
[Galvantula pauses for a moment to think and then offhandedly agrees.]
Emmet: Galvantula didn't shock me for that. That name is okay. Yup. I will file that with the Ferngill Republic. Don't worry about it. Make sure you take verrrry good care of our little Joltik!
[Joltik jumps and heart emotes]
◇──◆──◇──◆
The whole naming portion was a source of much more frustration than it should have been. In events, the name input box is brought up by the "catQuestion" command (which applies to dogs chosen at the start, too...
Tumblr media
If you refuse, then Marnie also shows up no matter what you do. Farmhouse positions are also tricky and made even harder to find reference for after 1.6 added the farmhouse being moveable. Joltik kept spawning where Emmet was supposed to be so I had to use a move command just to get them to spawn one tile to the side. Galvantula was fine. I didn't get to updating her vanilla portraits yet so she's staying quiet.
The catQuestion command also only adds the pet you pick during character creation. There's no fields to target the usage. You have to buy a license. It's the only way to get another pet. I didn't want Joltik to replace a cat either since in-story you would have to earn the trust of both Emmet and Galvantula... There's no way you can do that by the first 25 days of spring. It's immersion breaking and you lose a cat.
I did find the license aspect funny though. It was oddly fitting for the mod's lore of Pokemon being pretty much banned from the region. Emmet is a threat to Stardew Valley's ecosystem. Not the best guy for the task of combating anti-Pokemon xenophobia.
Pet sizes are apparently hardcoded so I had to make a new spritesheet for Joltik as if they even need a 32 x 32 pixel area per frame. I did end up making new sprites for them while I was at it. I tried to base it off of the cat's behaviors so I have less animation fields to edit (I was tired). The cat loafs a lot. Trying to convey that in a tiny spider posed quite the challenge.
Tumblr media
After everything was done, I figured that the whole adoption portion of the mod could easilly be taken apart to be its own mod as a demo of sorts for the expansion. So I went and made a content pack to post.
Bringing up your starter pet's friendship level takes quite some time, so it would be awkward if I let the event play with no preconditions. Because of that, I ended up including Joltik as an NPC and locking their adoption behind their heart level.
We actually only had two lines per day of the week (not including season) for daily dialogue. That shot up to six lines per day of the week for a full 0-2-4-6-8-10 in spring because I was determined to publish a mod. (I've been modding for nearly a year nonstop and I don't have anything playable... humiliating...)
Anyways! I hope you're all having fun with 1.6! It certainly brought new challenges and opportunities to the modding scene!

Some human skin and bone
The yassification button glitched, so sorry for your loss.
Did this take years of my life? Yes.
Did it take making at less three before realising I used their identifying colours to render them? Also yes.
Drawings without the dramatic light under the cut with some very long ramblings.
(I'm pretty sleep-deprived right now, excuse my weird grammar and ramblings.)
They are in order of making.
HOOTSIE
-She was the first I drew of the bunch, and I based her mostly on a baby I saw in a hair salon. She had these big un-blink-able eyes and these adorable chubby cheeks that just made sense that Hootsie had.
Tumblr media
-To try to union the owl and bear parts of an owlbear, I gave her this very puffy ENORMOUS fur coat with a feather jacket under it. To define where in her original design the fur and feather separate.
Tumblr media
-Also the claws, since Hootsie has claws, it's your decision to decide if they are REAL or if Gricko made them for her in wood.
-Her makeup it's designed to scream "OWL" and her original markings, from the big eyes, and eyebrows as owls horns, to the line to symbolise her beak.
Tumblr media
She was very fun to draw, brain empty, just owlbear.
GIDEON
-You know the whole "re-inventing the wheel"? Well, this was a "drawing Mace by accident over and over again"
Tumblr media
-Credits to Beth Mello for inspiration for the splash blood makeup, which it's just so pretty
Tumblr media
-I don't know where the metallic horns came from, I know it's inspired by something but it is so locked in my mind and I can't pull the strings to know where it comes from.
I showed this one to one of my old art teachers and he said "It looks like me when I was younger" and now I can't unsee it.
Your genishi is my retired art teacher now, so sorry for your loss.
GRICKO
-Did I ask my father to pose to draw his old hands? Yes. Yes, I did. And I had to make them more rough and hairy because he has "selling wristwatches on tv" hands? Absolutely.
Tumblr media
-I based his hair on a member of Metalica, Kirk Hammett. Now that he's older, he has this very pretty long curly greyish hair that just felt very Gricko.
Tumblr media
-I cut his fingers. Well, only the right hand, he has the other one but it didn't grow correctly so it's more like little little finger without nail. So he has four fingers, in his original goblin design he has four fingers and so does the human version now, we don't know what happened, Gricko probably doesn't know either.
-The makeup had to have the most eccentric in-your-face eyeliner ever. With some green highlighter to remain of goblin skin, blue and white dots for his magic and to link him with Hootsie's little blue gems, and body paint inspired by Britons war paint. (Which are drawn after two of his totems.)
Tumblr media
Lighting for this one was weirdly easy... The ocarina wasn't.
FROST
-As someone who is pretty young and it's starting to grow white hair already, I can say, that whatever it's happening to him it's more from stress than genes. What ghost scared you, sir?
Tumblr media
-I fought with his face so much, I had his body ready for days but not the face. I wanted to keep the expression that Frost has in the original, mostly the smug smile he has.
-Credits to Freja Bermann for inspiration for his makeup which it's inspired by multiple of her looks inspired by the solar system.
Tumblr media
-I just realised that by giving him "horns" and two dots to symbolize his tiger ears it looks like the froggy chair of Animal Crossing.
Tumblr media
I'm not changing it. This is our little secret.
KREMY
-How do you draw an alligator as a human? How??? DRAW??
Tumblr media
-You know what, drawing hands it's only fun if it's old people's hands. They have more texture and can be a bit rougher. They can define a character's life so well... For example, here Kremy has four fingers, you can decide if he got it cut off by fucking around, bitten off, or if he gifted it as a sign of faith to his patron, you decide.
-You hear about "Give Gideon a cowboy hat" get ready for "Give Kremy opera binoculars"
Tumblr media
-His makeup was inspired by cabaret, just dramatic eyeshadow and eyeliner. There are markings as gator skin around his eyes and nose. And a fake beauty mark because why not?
Tumblr media
Drawing Kremy it's always fun, even if I get tortured first by trying to structure his face.
I can't bring myself to do Torbek, Twig and Petunia, sorry, I'm very tired.
AHHHHHHHHHH.... Have a cupcake 🧁.

Asks that I will never really answer. My apologies; life gets busy and I get distracted.
I'm dropping these here today, so I can clear out some of the asks from my inbox. Apologies for some of these going back to when Trigun Stampede was still airing. >_< If I don't have a clear and concise answer, I'll let things sit in the inbox but they occasionally do fall off my radar.
Tumblr media
Uuummm sorry Anon, I meant to give this more of a response but as I got angrier at Stampede, I just couldn't bring myself to give you a well thought out reply. My overall vibes for the Christian themes that were missing in Stampede had to do how they kept a lot of the surface content, images/style/design from the original but with the sci-fi emphasis removed the weird esoteric Christian stuff and made it look that way. Vash was more willing to engage with others in the original manga/'98 anime based on what Rem taught him. Yet, we never get why he does what he does in Stampede. By changing Wolfwood from being a traveling preacher where Vash lambasts him with 'thou shall not kill' the nuance of his character's moral conflict is lost. He's a trained killer for a quasi-religious organization that might be using a Zia in a really not cool way. We also do not see him act in a self-sacrificing way, which he does from the get go in the original. The angelic body horror was gone, replaced by a sci-fi reading of plants and the concept of plant worship was missing in there as well. There is a lot of internal dialogue that many of the characters pose through the anime and manga and its just gone from Stampede and it revolves around forgiveness, violence, and justice.
For me, the complete re-interpretation of the world and loss of the moral conflict that all characters show hurt the Christian (and Buddhist) themes that underpinned the original. It really came down to how the characters acted and talked. There is no point to a gunslinger who is almost completely passive when one who is active but uses a non-lethal method based on principle. There is a chapter where Vash gets taunted by some enemy for how bad his target practice is until they determine he was that accurate at shooting someone but not killing them. The best way to summarize is that they took some of the aesthetics of the original and didn't follow through on how the characters acted. There is so much contemplation in the original and that is missing in the remake.
Tumblr media
Let's just make this a list: 1.) Leo would actually have a real girlfriend. I already have issues with White, I think adding her in as a quasi-girlfriend was a disservice to Leo's character. 2.) Zapp would be white. Less of a manwhore perhaps? 3.) Chain would be cute as opposed to cold and distant. No drinking assholes under the table and vomiting in her bathroom later. See Meryl Stryfe.
4.) K.K. would have boobs, and somehow be more sexy than an awkward and doting mother. See Rem and Luida. 5.) Steven's scar would be smaller or missing to make him a real lady killer. Either they'd lean way too far into Steven's shady side or they'd clean it up completely. Like he'd wink at women as opposed to sleeping with them to get intel. Be Klaus #1 fan! But like all the time, making himself to work too much. His hangry side would either be missing or played up for laughs. 6.) Zed would be dropped because he's the non-human team member. What's the point of having him? 7.) Luciana Estevez would only appear in her super sexy doctor form not her silly clone or normal form.
8.) They would try to create lore and filler to explain things that you have to assume are just how things work. Or they would info dump as opposed to leaving it up to you to worry about things and figure it out from the context. 9.) The entire cast gets aged down, because having a bunch of 30+ cast members who don't have all their shit together is too embarrassing aka very realistic. e.g. K.K. has a house husband (not a good mother like Rem and Luida in Stampede), Steven will die single and alone, Daniel will die single and alone, Patrick carries a torch for Guinness but is single, Abrams is a walking disaster.
10.) Character designs which are super unique and fun, especially in the manga all get 'isekai treatment' were they look homogeneous. The whole point of the diversity of the cast is lost. Women are short and cute, men are tall and slender or tall and buff. No other options.
11.) They attempt to rationalize the 13 Kings and give deep meaning behind their behaviors. Which maybe we will get that someday, but part of the fun is how fucking chaotic they are.
12.) Hellsalem's Lot is an empty city. Somehow, the city lacks people on the streets and we don't get the rooftop betting scene between the giant stomping creature and super-sized Riel. Sex, drugs, gambling are minimized in their version.
13.) The entire Prosfair story line is cut because it is so fucking bizarre and awesome; they wouldn't understand the point of the entire game.
14.) The OST is bad.

I feel like you know Levi really well! I had a question about something in the anime.
When Zeke says something to Levi about being liked by ladies and Levi says “I was liked enough.” Do you think that means he’s dated/been with woman before? Or was he making a general statement about woman being interested in him? I HC that it means he’s dated before, he’s in his 30s and live in the underground and was in some ways a criminal I would think realistically he has been but I wanted your thoughts?
Hi there, and thank you very much! I really appreciate your kind words!
That's always an interesting question and something that's fun to speculate about. Everyone seems to have their own head canon's about Levi's love life, or lack thereof, since we don't actually get any information, beyond that one exchange he has with Zeke, about it.
I think you're probably right, though. Levi is obviously a grown man, and he's lived a life of many experiences, and while it's kind of sweet to think of him as being a virgin, I think it's just as likely that he's not. Though I will say that Levi is very... awkward, socially, haha. And so I can see him having maybe a difficult time really opening up to and involving himself with anyone on an intimate level. I think he would really have to trust the person, whoever they may be, to allow that sort of thing. It's also interesting, and I think important, to consider Levi's experience growing up in a brothel. This isn't something that gets talked about a whole lot, but Levi must have been exposed to some truly horrific and ugly things, being born into and raised in the type of environment he was. I doubt the brothel's in the Underground afforded any kind of real rights to their prostitutes, and Levi would have had to see his own mother likely terribly abused, sexually and physically. I think this probably would have a profound effect on him and his relationship with things like sex or physical intimacy. I think it's even likely that Levi may feel a real revulsion toward things like casual sex or promiscuous behavior. He doesn't strike me as the sort of person who would take sleeping with someone lightly, or treat it as something flippant. Again, I think it likely comes down to Levi needing to really trust the person before he would allow himself to get involved in that way.
There's also a small element of defensiveness to the way Levi answered Zeke's accusation about him not being popular with the ladies. That could either mean Zeke is right, and Levi hasn't ever had much success with things like dating or romantic relationships, or it could mean that he's wrong, and Levi's annoyed at him for even suggesting it. I mean, I tend to think Levi probably was fairly popular in the Underground, given his respected reputation and also his nurturing nature, the way he took care of a lot of young people down there. I think that would make Levi quite popular with women in particular, as they would see him as a strong provider and protector of people who need protecting. I think they would find that attractive, just naturally, beyond just the physical. Of course, Levi's petite stature is also a subject he seems somewhat insecure about, and that could be rooted in him having to contend with others making fun of him or belittling him for his height. We know Kenny sure as heck did, given what he says to Levi when they meet again during the Uprising arc, calling Levi a midget and all that. And being made to feel unattractive in any way by someone who's opinion you value, as obviously Levi did with Kenny's, would definitely pose an obstacle in terms of his confidence in his attractiveness.
Well, anyway, this is all just speculation, but I try to base it off of what we do know, and what we can safely assume. Hope that answers your question, and thank you for asking!

HELL YEAH TECH TUESDAAAAAYS 📢📢
I cannot tell you just how much I wanna go on aquarium dates with them, feel free to add whatever ideal activities you got in that pretty head of yours! ❤
With Dennis, he'd be so eager to have pictures of you in his gallery like those aesthetic girlfriend material photos on Pinterest, and cannot wait to find the one to make it as his lockscreen photo! He'll definitely be speechless every time you'd go as far as asking a stranger to take a couple photo of the two of you, but it's the most pleasant surprised he'll happily accept!
For Jake, best believe he'll buy you the cutest stuffed animal there, like a whale or a lobster, and it's probably big as hell, too. But he cannot imagine taking you there without buying you a little something-something! Photos are a must too, but unlike Dennis, he is more than eager for pictures together; what better way to rub it in the face of his team, if not a whole photo album of himself with the hottest girl in the world?
In terms of Justin, he'd be the right person to tell you all the things he know about the marine life! Eagerly telling you the origins or even the most random facts that could make you giggle, all for the sake of your approval or affection. Whether it's the sparkles in your eyes or the cheek kisses everytime he was able to list a fish's scientific name, he loved the date just as much as you did!
I'm not entirely sure about Eddie or Ralph but knowing you, I'm sure you'd have an idea or two about them ;)))
You nailed it bestie.
Tumblr media
He is all about taking those pictures of you. He brought his phone, his digital camera, and a disposable film camera. He wanted to cover all the bases. When you do ask for pictures of you both, he's trying so hard to not mess up the pic. You insist that he couldn't mess it up, he relaxed a little. You had to make him laugh to get a good genuine picture of him smiking, but it was worth it. You have his picture as your lockscreen.
Tumblr media
He absolutely wants a picture together everywhere you go. Of course he takes pictures of just you, but he really wants to be in the photos too! He makes a mini photo album of the trip and everything.
Tumblr media
This sweet baby is a nerd. I love him. He wants to read all the little panels, listens intently to the tour guide, whispers facts to you about them, and just has a far out time. You buy him a little squishy stuffed animal of his favorite animal— the sting ray. He sleeps with it in his bed.
Tumblr media
This chaotic bean would have a lot of fun. He loves watching everything move, he listens very well to the tour guides or speakers when they say something interesting. He would only take a few pictures, mostly of you, but you get him to pose in front of the tank for a really good picture. His favorite baseball band tee hugging his sturdy frame, his hair illuminated by the boue light of the water, his legs crossed at the ankles and his arms braced on the handrail behind him as he leans. It's your favorite.
Tumblr media
Would run off in excitement and nearly get lost. But once he learns not to run off, he'd still as excited but he clutches you. He is afraid of the sharks. Almost refuses to look at them, but he does. He earns a kiss for being so brave. He also romances you near the big tank, nearly reciting poetry about how beautiful you look in this light, how lucky he is to have you, how much he loves you. You both share a sweet kiss when everyone else clears out.

One Piece Anime Watchalong: East Blue Saga 3/6
Syrup Village (Eps 9-18):
Started: 6/7/23 Finished: 8/7/23
Alright, we are moving onto the Syrup Village arc. Not gonna lie, even though I did enjoy the previous two arcs and had a lot of great moments in them, I felt a bit of fatigue going into this arc. Didn't expect to get this feeling so soon after starting One Piece. But I think the reason why I'm feeling this way is because the commitment of watching all of OP has now dawned on me, and with these upcoming arcs increasing in length, I fear that the act of watching OP may become a chore. However, as soon as I started this arc, I can safely say that I actively look forward to watching OP again!
The first reason for this change of heart is that we're introduced to Usopp. I really like Usopp as a character! The "honourable liar" persona is ingrained into every facet of his story. It heavily evokes the Aesop Fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and his character design is based off Pinocchio. However, he uses his lies to spread joy around his village, even when the village-folk are fed up with it and chase him with brooms. He also uses his lies to cheer up Kaya, the girl residing in the village's mansion whose parents died three years ago and now is bedridden due to grief. It's very touching, so when the conflict comes into play and centres around him being alienated everybody in the village, his kiddie pirate crew, and even Kaya herself, as they distrust Usopp even when he's telling the truth this time, is kind of tragic and heart-wrenching. This is further amplified with him stating that he still holds a lot of love and respect for his village, despite being cast out.
This brings me onto this arc's villain, Kaya's main butler Klahadore, who is later revealed to be the former captain of the Black Cat Pirate crew, Captain Kuro. Despite being dubbed "The Man of a Thousand Plans", his plan to get Kaya's inheritance was kind of dumb and riddled with errors. Of course he had his little villain monologue before trying to kill the other butler Merry, and didn't even make sure to check that he was actually dead! Maybe he was so confident that his plan would work that he didn't realise that it wasn't completely airtight. Apart from that blunder, he was really intimidating, even when he was trying to play it discreetly with the Klahadore act. The battle at the beach, when it was just the Straw Hats and Jango, was a little slow in the beginning, but as soon as Kuro came into the picture, evidently looking pissed when things weren't going to plan, that's when it really started to liven up. It all culminated in the fight between Kuro and Luffy, and during the fight it is revealed that Kuro set this all up so he could leave the pirate lifestyle for good and have "peace of mind". The ideological clash between Kuro and Luffy during this fight is one of the best moments of this saga for me so far, almost feeling like Luffy had met his match for the first time getting an absolute battering from Kuro. His Out of the Back attack was also a pretty chilling sequence.
Other thoughts I had about this arc: Jango, the hypnotist and vice-captain of the Black Cats Pirates, was kind of ridiculous, but in a good way. Having his design and mannerisms based off of Michael Jackson -- he literally moonwalks in his first scene and even does all his famous poses at one point! Speaking of comedy, it's really starting to shine through at this stage. One moment that had me rolling was when Jango was first hypnotising his henchmen to become stronger through his ring trick, having them blindly attack the Straw Hats. But Luffy also looks at the ring, meaning he was also affected by the trick, and he then starts blindly raging towards Jango and his crew, and tears the masthead off the ship (that also emits a nervous anime sweat mark). Jango then hypnotises Luffy to sleep, leaving him to drop the masthead on top of the Black Cats! It was so unhinged and I absolutely loved it! The comedy also showed in the Straw Hats chemistry with each other, as Luffy, Zoro, and Nami have had several episodes with each other to play off each other's personalities, in which Usopp also gets his fare share of interaction too. I really like the direction in this arc, from the flashback scenes of Usopp entertaining Kaya conveyed with these still frames of gorgeous watercolours, to the way the camera moves during certain points throughout the battle. It was all very cool in its execution! Finally, the arc ended with Treasure Island, Gaimon, his bootleg Pokemon. It was an alright episode that provided a bit of respite after what was an intense arc.
Overall, I really enjoyed this arc, so much so that I actually binged most of it in one day, partly because of I felt I needed to pick up the pace, but also because I was getting invested into it. Man, I'm really starting to love this goofy little series. I hope this will continue as we sail towards the next arc, Baratie!

Inktober 2023 — Day 12 — Spicey
Wangxian fans please forgive me! I did my best, but romantic drawings, particularly spicey (spicy?) ones, are not my forte. It’s not my worst drawing, but I do wish it was better. I’ll be sure to practice more for future endeavors.
Anyway, enough with the self pity party, onto the prompt!! As stated, I’ve never really drawn anything romantic or shipping based (which is ironic considering I have plenty of ships and shipping ideas to go around), so this one was tricky. I really wanted to do a spicy drawing in terms of a romantic aspect, even though it would undoubtedly be (and was) a big challenge. I just really wanted to do something like that. In terms of who the drawing would be about, well, Mo Dao Zu Shi has become my newest hyper fixation/hyper obsession, so of course I had to go with a Wangxian drawing.
I tried multiple poses, but settled in one that I thought was spicy without being too sexy or not spicy enough: Lan Wangji hugging Wei Wiizian from behind and sneaking in a neck bite. The whole time I was drawing this, I felt like there was a fine line between romantic and sexy that I needed to get a balance of. It’s like I was trying to figure out the order in which shipping drawings go through on a scale of wholesome to explicit. (So far I’ve figure out: wholesome —> cute —> lovely —> romantic —> spicy —> sexy —> explicit.) Am I overthinking things? Absolutely.
It also doesn’t help that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji’s designs are so detailed, I needed multiple references just to get through this feeling somewhat confident. I tried to base it off the animated series since I thought that’d be the easiest to base it off of (truth is they’re all difficult in their own right). I deeply hope it’s not as bad as I think it is and I at least did some justice for this cute couple. Maybe after a good night sleep I’ll see it with a clearer mind.

Frozen Ashes: Chapter 2 - Sanguine Standard II
Book 3 of The Calendula Chronicles.
Story synopsis: Albert Wesker molded his captive into the perfect, pliable bait for taking out Rockfort Island's paramilitary facility, and cracking open the Ashford family’s secrets. But who’s really in control, once chaos breaks out?
The stakes have never been higher for Marigold, but she may not be fast enough to save everyone.
Book 3 of the Calendula Chronicles series. Written as the other side of The Antarctica Incident.
Chapter summary: Wesker checks in on Marigold the night before Rockfort, and considers the last few weeks of preparing her for this point. NSFW.
Tumblr media
The encampment - an old base, long abandoned, officially - came with two dormitory barracks buildings, but the men preferred mostly to lodge themselves in town. Marigold had been placed alone in the second one. Wesker had considered placing her in a small hotel just outside the site, but even that posed too great a risk to outsiders at this juncture.
A courier from town came twice a day with food, and the company of mercenaries itself was well-versed in managing a localized canteen for themselves while in the field. He walked the path between the makeshift command office and that second barracks building, aware of the eyes on him.
Perhaps it was in anticipation of combat, or in response to the hormone dosage, but elevating her viral state meant that Marigold was always hungry, in every sense of the word. Any leftovers from catering began to be diverted toward her barracks, and disappeared mere hours later.
She hadn’t technically left the building, although the men had spotted her on the roof a few times, observing the training and other activity on the ground. Marigold watched people like a hungry cat watched birds, whether she realized it or not. In any case, it made the men nervous of her, instinctively moving out of reach whenever they had to pass her. That was better for his nerves, if not his ability to focus.
She’d also been craving contact more in the last few weeks, unconsciously turning and clinging to him in her sleep in spite of her waking coolness, which had been wavering under the Chilean summer heat.
Thankfully, there were more banal ways to keep Marigold occupied while he finalized preparations for the days ahead. Miss Wong had taken it upon herself to set up a biweekly movie night in the employee lounge and found that Marigold had a taste for action and crime films from the eighties. She’d been set up with those for the last few days.
Wesker found her asleep in a chair in front of one of these, having long ended and gone to static. He shed his clothes at the door, making his way over and switching off the television as he passed. The room fell into comfortable darkness.
Marigold stirred when he lifted her from the chair, shifting in his arms to take in his scent. Her mannerisms were far more feline than human in this barely waking state. Over the last few weeks, that animal side of her had grown stronger, bolder, in that liminal place.
The patch he had placed on her shoulder that morning would require replacing soon. Marigold reached up to touch the scarring on his chest as sleep slowly fell away.
A month ago, Wesker would have moved her hand away from that place. The scarring was a reminder of his failure, even if it was also proof of the moment of metamorphosis. Marigold had finally caught on and fixed him with a mild look of amusement. “It’s so funny what falls out of fashion,” she had laughed. “There were entire societies back when I was in school centered around getting a good scar to show bravery. Why do you think all those old men had blades hung in their offices?” She had smiled at the memory, and he had stopped moving her hand away when it would stray there.
Her eyes fluttered open when he set her down in the bed, pulling him down to her mouth. He went easily. The link had gone beyond a communicative tool to something where he could ride the tide of her desire in this state, feel her sink into pleasurable delirium as if he were chasing his own. It was something that had clicked into place only a few weeks prior.
When he first took Marigold into his bed about three months earlier, there had been a certain cynicism to the act. He had felt a particular vindictive pleasure in thoroughly claiming the trophy Lord Spencer had mandated be locked away upon discovering her condition. The virus itself had all but taken the woman by the scruff of her neck and deposited her into his lap.
And…there she’d stayed. He’d required Herculean discipline to stay focused on the mission at hand, but even then, she would serve as a tailor-made distraction at the right moment.
Annette Birkin had been the one to run the tests in 1982 when Spencer had requested to know of her fecundity - whether the virus had restored her ability to reproduce. An old illness had been documented to have left irreparable internal scarring, rendering her sterile as a young woman. But that scarring had been relatively fresh when the infection had happened.
A positive response would have led to tissue harvesting…or something even more invasive. Annette had disappeared to run the examination. Several techs were suddenly reassigned to other areas of the lab on the day the work was performed. Her response had been a flat, resounding ‘no’, and a hard glare when anyone had asked to look for themselves.
Spencer had accepted the report, and the woman had been relegated to research storage for seventeen years, decanted only for occasional maintenance under strict guard. Annette had seemed thoroughly disgusted by the entire affair, and relieved when it was declared over. Annette’s medical ethics had been far less flexible back in those days before the T-virus work had really taken off.
Frankly, ironically, Marigold's old medication was calibrated to behave much more like oral birth control than anything else. It had been the baseline for the patches he now applied twice daily, except now they amplified her drives to a constant state of readiness. While all of that information allowed him a certain degree of latitude in how he used her, there was a growing sense that this disconnected new world would easily separate and swallow her up, now severed from the ties that had once held her in check.
The hormones she was on also had the unexpected side benefit of amplifying her sensitivity. There was an odd softness that had begun to permeate her body. A hand wandered to her breast, palming and squeezing the soft flesh. They had grown fuller in the last week, since he had increased the dosage.
There had been a heady shift in her scent over the last few days. That morning he had driven himself into a frenzy when he had buried his face between her legs in the shower, replacing the patch from the previous evening.
Wesker now pulled aware from her mouth, settling on his back in the middle of the bed. He held himself up in one elbow, the other hand working his stiffening cock to prominence. Marigold bit her lip, watching him, as she often did when these bouts of shy uncertainty hit. This is a change of pace, she sent at him, her cheeks reddening. In this state, words failed her more often than not; but that was rarely a problem these days, now was it?
It’s been a long day, and we’re finally in the dark. Let me watch you, he responded. I know you worry about hurting someone like this. Don’t. You know quite well by now that you won’t break me.
In the dark, he could swear the reflective sheen of Marigolds’ eyes brightened in sharp lust, and he felt as much wash over him through the bond. A few months ago, saying something like that would have been in warning, rather than in invitation. He reached for her arm, guiding her to straddle him while he lined up his cock, pressing at her waist for her to sink down over him.
The tension she constantly carried through to a consistent tightness in her body. He squeezed her hips in encouragement, and she contracted hard around him in response, eliciting a hard groan. It caught her attention - Wesker had rarely let her drive in their time together - and a thoughtful look flashed across her face before she moved, thrusting against him with purpose.
There had always been a sense of inhuman stillness to her, a focus that pierced and perceived more than a normal human ever could. This focus was on him, entirely, driving towards a steady building feedback loop of cresting waves and heat.
“Good girl,” he breathed out through gritted teeth, letting his hands wander up across her body. She leaned down to let him tangle his fingers in her hair, eyes hooded and never leaving his face. When he tightened his grip, her lips parted with a small, breathy sound.
Still trying to hold herself tightly together, even now.
A switch flipped in Wesker, and he reached under her knees to sit up, catching her in mid-thrust with a surprised sound before rolling the both of them so he now lay on top. Her long legs hooked over his arms so that she lay on full display for him. Hands locked at her hips, he took up a brutal pace. Wesker now knew that the force he used was enough to break bones, but Marigold only shuddered and gripped his forearms with equal deadly strength as she gave herself over to the wave overtaking them both.
Tomorrow’s mission would risk this; that much was obvious. If all went well, both Ashfords, both her and her nephew, would be caught off-guard. He’d seen how easily lead she was in her anger, and Alfred’s temper was already manifesting itself on Rockfort in a similar manner. Bringing her into the field could potentially break Alfred Ashford’s will to fight altogether.
Nonetheless, tonight would likely be the last time for a while Marigold allowed him near her, before her drives overtook her once more, to push her back to him. The state that made her so devastating on the field also made her highly suggestible to the right party. Leaving her at the HCF compound was out of the question, as was leaving her here, in reach of scavenging parties. Keeping her in this particular state, with her hormones artificially elevated, and actively maintaining their connection would keep her from lucidity until they arrived on Rockfort Island.
And to insure against that, he had one more measure to deploy, both to keep her under control, and to ensure Umbrella wouldn’t be able to get their hands on her once more.
Marigold made a small sound when Wesker pulled out of her, spent, and lay beside her to catch his breath. She stayed where she was. The hazy feeling that she got when Wesker came to her had bled into her days and nights. Her skin sang out with every air current, every piece of cloth that touched her skin.
She had enough experience pushing through this feeling, focusing on getting to a quiet place to take her medication and ride it out, back in the old days. But that was hardly the point of this exercise.
For now, all Marigold could do was remain in the moment, and wait. She had spent the last few days as if underwater, barely tethered to rational thought. Wesker was taking precautions against her likely rebellion once they arrived. The tacky feeling of adhesive on her shoulder, where the patches had been surreptitiously placed, spoke to as much.
The patches wrought hell on her ability to focus, but they masked her secret. If the test she had taken, and subsequently buried was any indication, she was somewhere between six to eight weeks pregnant. In the short window she had taken to speak with Annette Fletcher - no, Birkin - the woman had told her in a dull voice that she’d falsified tests that the higher-ups had requested to confirm whether or not the virus had restored her reproductive capacity.
It had. Marigold had kept that secret buried deeper than most of the others. but Annette had clearly been disgusted with how the whole episode had been playing out, at a time when ‘human trials’ were unheard of for researchers at her particular level. Marigold had been placed into cold storage afterward with very little fuss, and likely saved her a great deal of trauma.
Neither Annette’s husband nor Wesker had known of the falsehood. Why should they? Placidia would be left in place well beyond the time they would be gone from that lab. Who would know?
That information had led to Marigold rationing a small cache of stolen medication meant to dampen her heats, and delay the inevitable. She’d run out in early November, and sure enough, fallen pregnant almost immediately. Once she’d truly succumbed to the heats, it had only been a matter of time.
It was evident that, on some animal level, he was already becoming aware that her body was changing. She could see it in the way Wesker reacted to her scent now, the way her body was just barely beginning to soften. The hormones had been enough for him to explain away these symptoms, but they wouldn’t be for long. Another week or two, and something would have given her away.
She couldn’t afford that. Wesker and a nervous executive called Mark Oliver had mentioned that they were heading to South America - but to Argentina, to hit the ship George Bailey used to traffic research materials out of Africa.
It had been a good story. It had also been bullshit. Marigold had heard the executive’s heart speed up in nervous anticipation at the lie. Even if she hadn’t, this was not Argentina.
Argentina would have been a fool’s errand and a false lead anyhow, given how Bailey is in the wind. And Bailey was in the wind because she had sent him that way. The fact that Wesker thought she would believe that told her that he’d never worked out the true extent of the little ‘network’ she had built up once; only the very few she had targeted maliciously.
George Bailey was in the wind, as were several high-ranking directors, and Albert Wesker was none the wiser as to why.
Wesker had asked her just enough, early on, to set her on edge. A little nudge when meeting ‘Alan Green’ had confirmed that their true target was the paramilitary base. That meant that the target was her nephew, the ‘sole’ surviving Ashford as far as the world knew.
The day Kate’s involvement had been exposed, just a few months earlier, Marigold had forfeited the medication keeping her heats at bay in exchange for testing her elevated abilities to sense out who in her network was still even alive. After Raccoon CIty, she couldn’t risk asking to be put on them once more, fearing what else might be introduced blind into her system. It was an imprecise thing, but in the moments before Albert Wesker had caught her out, she had sensed something far south - something with a strange, strong infection, connected to her. Two tiny pinpricks of life in a deep, dark cold.
The children were alive - all of them, even Harman’s boy, as she’d found out later. Grown, alive, and each touched or twisted by the horrors Umbrella had wrought while she slept.
Alfred had dearly loved his little war games as a child. From overhearing various soldiers in her addled state, ‘he’ had carved out quite a little niche in Spencer’s empire using that knowledge.
She didn’t deny to herself that she’d grown…comfortable in the past few months. That tense quid pro quo dynamic that had kept her from asking questions had gone away around the time they had moved to the compound. Last week, while watching a film, she had finally asked him if the virus would have killed him had he not let the Tyrant do it instead. She had been curled up at one end, while Wesker had coopted the middle and coaxed her legs across his lap. When she asked questions there was the implicit reciprocation of information, as Wesker has learned.
Wesker had contemplated the question. “No,” he had said finally. “What I took was designed to work best with a shock of that magnitude, the activate it quickly. When metabolism is suppressed, the virus can bind without having to fight the body. It’s risky if the binding is imperfect. That’s why the original virus never worked.” He had glanced at her, with a hint of a wry smile. “Allegedly, anyhow.”
“So if it’s slowed down and suppressed…”
“It would still take a long time. You said you felt stronger now than…before.” Always the careful skirting of his role in that. “ If there were suppression at the very beginning…”
“I wasn’t conscious then, if that’s what you’re asking. It happened right before I went to bed. There was a fever,” she offered. Then she paused. “And about three quiet years after. Before I needed to take anything.”
“What triggered the change?” A hand had caressed her knee, passed down a calf, and up again. Without the connection, she might not have been able to tell - his ability to mask his expression was on par with her own - but the virus had made him more sensitive to all kinds of stimuli - light, most obviously, and his hearing was almost as good as hers now; but touch was something he was reacquainting himself with to a similar degree she was. Those little bits of teasing contact back in the remote lab had not entirely been a means to get her off balance.
That wasn’t in your notes? She had teased.
You made it quite obvious my notes were barely adequate, he shot back. He’d been in a good enough humour, from the accompanying squeeze to her ankle.
“Uncle Spencer decided I’d served my purpose and sent me off to die.” She had said in a flat voice. “You get to classify your poisoners when you have as many as I did by dosage and intent. The amount of hemlock that one used made it clear I wasn’t meant to walk away. The next few days were…difficult. You’ve seen what happened later. I’d never given into it before.”
Tomorrow would be more challenging than she’d been willing to admit. Wesker had been coming to her with increasing fervor, as if shoring up something that could weather the incoming storm.
But…she’d warned him to stay away from her family. And here he was, about to drag her headlong into the fray.
She knew Rockfort Island. Things would not go the way Wesker thought they would. It seemed that that particular message had failed to permeate.
For Wesker, this episode likely felt like a bump in the road, something to be managed and mitigated.
For Marigold, this felt like a breaking point, ready to be severed away.
Thoughts churning, she turned and let Wesker draw her to him as she drifted into sleep.
It felt like the last time.
~
Marigold woke hours later to an empty bed, the spot next to her still warm. She found a robe and wandered out to the balcony, where Wesker sat with a cigarette, watching the sunrise.
He turned his head slightly as she approached, letting her steal the cigarette from his hand to take a short drag (better not to inhale, but she wanted the taste of it) before passing it back. The cool morning air had a sweet floral smell to it.
Without a word, she knelt beside him to lean against his shoulder, watching the sunrise in that silent hour of peace. She’d take in all the moments like this she could before that fragile little clockwork world he’d constructed around her ran down and shattered.

started playing this super nintendo RPG last night called 'Eternal Filena' (Eien no Filena; the game was never officially translated, but a pretty solid fan patch exists here). The game plays very much like Final Fantasy 5 - it's a turn-based RPG that uses an ATB meter affected both by the speed of a character and the weight of their equipment.
So get this: In a world with radical technological disparity, the Empire has conquered every nation around it. You play as Filena, a girl from a subjugated race raised as a boy for her own protection - though, that's a bit complicated. See, girls of your race are treated poorly, sure - most work in either service or service - but guys of your race aren't treated that much better, as most of them are forced into gladiatorial combat training from a young age, as that gladiator combat is the most popular form of mass entertainment for the Imperial populace. Still, due to reasons that come up fairly early in the game, maintaining the disguise is crucial.
Now, very early on (like, 'before the first real fight' early), you're put into a situation where you're expected to sleep with a woman, Lila. She naturally discovers that you're in disguise, but she's willing to keep your secret - after all, she can't exactly leave without staying the night, or she'll likely be arrested or killed. Lila ends up posing as (?) Filena's wife, and this persists despite them all leaving the gladiatorial combat environment fairly soon.
You also meet Nest, the guy who essentially writes the booking of the gladiator battles in order to create interesting 'stories' - like Kayfabe, if the fights were actually to the death. You basically start attracting interest around town, initially, because you were the obvious jobber for the first matchup and you pull off a surprising victory.
After a few fights, your reputation changes and the town opens up a bit, but after you're forced to fight your mentor in the arena, the plot really gets started. As he lays, dying from your spear, he hands you a token of your heritage and tells you to break into the information office and use their machines to decode it. This is where the game picks up, and where I'll stop summarizing.
This game is apparently an adaptation of a light novel series from the 1990s, and also got an anime that was apparently not that good.
Eternal Filena isn't technically impressive, and it has a couple of annoying parts where grinding is necessary (though, one point - which is very funny, because it's supposed to be an escape sequence - has a room with a full-heal machine that also has random encounters that drop way more experience than you've had from random encounters to that point, so it's a perfect place to grind despite 'Get the Fuck Out' klaxons going; it's also a necessary place to grind, because there's a super overleveled boss at the end of that area), but it's a really solid turn-based RPG on its mechanical merits nonetheless.
While the story is certainly not new, and it's been done more effectively since, a lot of the story elements that are here are really quite good. The translation patch does a good job of capturing the intended weight of most scenes (at least in the early-game, I'm only 3 hours in at this point and the world looks pretty big from here). There are some fairly obvious gender-feelings around (Lila's increasing insistence that she's her wife becomes both funnier and more subtext-laden as the game continues, especially as more and more people discover Filena's secret), and the setting raises some interesting questions that I hope will be touched on in some throwaway NPC dialogue.
In all, Eternal Filena is a solid RPG that deserves a second look. I'd just recommend making sure your fast-forward and turbo-A/B keybinds are set on your emulator, because some sections (especially the aforementioned grinding) can be made much quicker and less annoying that way.
In order to prevent copyright strike issues, please DM me for questions about how to get specific ROMs. Most games are available on Archive.org if you search 'no-intro' and limit it to software, though you'll need a free account.

Quick Tips For A More Successful Coast Guard Documented Vessel Search
Are you wondering how you can conduct a successful Coast Guard vessel documentation search? If so, the U.S Vessel Documentation Center has you covered. Suppose you are the vessel owner that the United States Coast Guard records; you must know how to successfully search if a crew member goes missing. You can assure that everyone on board is accounted for promptly and securely by following these simple pointers and putting them into action. In the event of a crisis, it is important for you, the owner of a USCG vessel, to be as well prepared as possible. A recorded vessel search is one example of this kind of situation. The following are some suggestions that can assist you in making your search as fruitful as possible.
Make Sure Your Vessel Is Properly Registered with The Coast Guard The Coast Guard maintains a database of registered vessels open to the public and may be searched for free online. If you are searching for a vessel that has gone missing, you should begin your Coast Guard vessel documentation search there. If you have a vessel that has been reported missing, the Coast Guard can assist you in registering the loss and removing the vessel from your responsibility.
(The vessel does not need to be gone before this occurs; the Coast Guard may assist if it has sunk or been stolen.) You might be asking yourself why you should bother with any of this in the first place. The answer is straightforward: if you register your vessel with the Coast Guard, you will make it simpler for yourself to file a report of its loss if anything from it goes missing. In addition to this, the database maintained by the Coast Guard may be searched by anyone, even if they do not have access to the internet.
Keep Up-To-Date Contact Information on File with The Coast Guard Make sure the Coast Guard has your current contact information. The Coast Guard has always had access to a vessel owner’s contact information, such as a phone number or email address, but you must keep this information up to date to receive any response from them. Communication via phone is sometimes the only option for ships that don’t dock at a permanent location.
According to ecfr.gov, you should keep track of your vessels at all times, and if you change addresses, be sure to let everyone know where you can be reached (or they do). Even while the Coast Guard has always had access to a vessel owner’s contact information, such as a phone number or email address, the owner is responsible for keeping this information up to date. Communication via phone is often the only option for ships without a permanent docking location. In the event of a crisis, it is imperative that the Coast Guard can reach you without delay.
Give The Coast Guard Accurate Information About Your Voyage Plans The captain’s level of transparency before setting sail is perhaps the most important factor differentiating a safe and fruitful journey from a recorded Coast Guard vessel documentation search. The Coast Guard will mostly want to know the reason for the trip and its final destination, but they may also inquire where you will be staying before setting off and when you plan to return. If you want to make things simpler for them and you, provide as much information as possible.
Tell them where you’ll be sleeping (hotels, friends’ houses, the boat itself), what the weather forecast looks like, and whether or not any local animals may pose a hazard to your party. The best way to ensure that the information you offer them regarding your journey is correct is to research before you depart. If you can’t find out which ports can accommodate your ship, then offer them an estimate based on the number of people on board; if you believe it should take eight days, but it’s closer to 10, then say so.
Install A VHF Radiotelephone or EPIRB For the Coast Guard Vessel Documentation Search In an emergency, boaters may use a free service provided by the Coast Guard called the documented vessel search. If you register your vessel with the Coast Guard, they will be ready to assist you if you run into any difficulties. When registering your boat, check to see that it already has a VHF radiotelephone installed (or at least a 406 MHz Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon, also known as an EPIRB). This will make it simpler for the Coast Guard to locate you and allow you to maintain contact with your loved ones and friends. Make sure that every family member knows how to use the radio equipment and that everyone has the necessary contact information for each other in an emergency.
If you are planning to apply for U.S. vessel documentation, you will need to get your boat inspected by the Coast Guard. To make your search more efficient and successful, contact the U.S. Vessel Documentation Center at (800) 340-7580 before you start the process. The following tips can help you make the most of your Coast Guard vessel documentation search and avoid some common pitfalls.

Lucifer
He already knew you love to draw and didn't mind that, at least that's one good hobby someone has on his list compared to gambling and parties
If there is something Lucifer appreciates about humans, it's their art and cultures, he might take you to art museums for inspiration and have a date in a cafe and talk to you about the paintings you both saw
If art museums are not your thing, he would be a little disappointed but then again, some artists like more modern artworks and some that are shown online so he understands
And frankly, having you draw him makes him immensely proud of himself for having a talented girlfriend like you, he doesn't ask that you draw him but he secretly wants to
Lucifer occasionally buys art supplies for you but only if you've been good
"So you joined Mammon on going to the casino to draw the people there?"
"Pretty much...."
"Hmm.. I guess you aren't going to get some Copics from me anytime soon."
"WHAT-"
Lucifer is also observant and knows when and who you're drawing immediately
"I can see you staring at me."
His eyes looked up at yours as you looked away, pencil in hand.
"No, I'm not."
He's seen you glance at him several times before looking down at your sketchbook.
It was breakfast and you were sat between a sleeping Belphie and a distracted Beel so you took the time to draw the eldest when no one's looking.
Lucifer hummed and told Beel not to eat so messily as you continued to draw him.
Lucifer has seen many sketches of him and the brothers and when you give him some as a gift, he keeps it well-protected somewhere that Mammon can't steal in his bedroom.
Tumblr media
Mammon
He absolutely cherishes every drawing you have, the boy keeps a doodle of him and you as a good luck charm too <3
He might ask that you do commissions and he gets some of it (for giving the idea and managing the commissions-) but one glare and he'll shut up with a nervous chuckle and an "H-hey! It's just a joke!"
When Mammon sees you staring at some art supplies, he checks it again when he's alone and dies inside because of the price and buys it immediately, he doesn't care if he loses a lot of money only a little bit, all he wants is to see your face when he gives it to you
"You better be grateful that The Great Mammon even thought of giving this to you!... Do-don't look at me like that! It was on sale!!"
While Mammon was napping on his couch, you hastily opened your sketchbook and started sketching him and the boy never realized
By the time he woke up, you were already finished doing 5 sketches of him and taking pictures of him for reference
"Oi! What are you doing? Gimme that!"
His heart completely melts because??? you drew him so good??? his girlfriend drew him???? for free??? and out of love????
He also draws you but it's just a stickman with a messy face but you still love it all the same
Tumblr media
Leviathan
Finally...another Artist...AND HIS GIRLFRIEND NO LESS!!
He's so happy and giddy to show off his art supplies but he's hesitant when it comes to showing off his art because he thinks it's horrible compared to yours
You encourage him and usually learn together with him whenever he feels awful about his art
He's the Avatar of Envy so there are many times where he's compared himself to other artists so you had to be there to keep him grounded
Art Date, anyone??
It doesn't matter whether you buy art supplies or just take a break from school, it was always nice being around Leviathan
You took the chance to draw him while he was across from you and excitedly showed it to him
He had drawn himself (albeit, in a persona) in many games and animes but your drawing was more special than anything he's ever done
He looked away, avoiding eye contact as he gave you his own drawing which was you in your favorite video game
From now on, whenever the both of you wanted to give small gifts, you draw each other!! <3
Tumblr media
Satan
A demon who enjoys impressionism art, there's something about the dreamy landscapes and colors that really makes him calm aside from reading
I think he would paint for a change of pace but gets frustrated because of how difficult it is so he goes back to reading
So watching you draw makes him impressed, drawing takes so much time to master
He doesn't mind whatever art style you have, aside from the impressionism style, he would have yours as his favorite
He understands the pain of art block so he often invites you in his room, one where the others wouldn't bother you, just don't touch anything or else you'll turn into some random animal for a few hours
He also encourages that you read with him when you're uninspired! Reading helps the imagination and the mind, and he'd be happy to recommend some for you!
You trust him with your sketchbooks and he trusts you with his books! The both of you knew the other wouldn't do anything which is why he only lets you inside his room
While Satan makes a drink for you, humming an old song in his DDD, you drew him in overalls and glasses
When you were bored, you would always draw your boyfriend in random outfits and would often show it to him (which he all loves)
"Overalls and Glasses, huh? I might wear it tomorrow." Satan grins, peeking at your sketchbook as he puts down the drinks.
Don't get your hopes too high, he isn't going to wear a maid outfit........yet-
Tumblr media
Asmodeus
Oh? You draw? Wellll, if you need a model, he's happy to be your own personal model, but it comes with a price ;)
He loves that you draw! And would ask you to draw him
There's many artworks he likes but yours he enjoys the most, even if you aren't his girlfriend
Might ask you if you can design outfits and draw him in certain outfits so he can try them out!
Of course, drawing is not an easy feat so he'll pay you handsomely~
If you do commissions, he gets one just so he can support you
He knows that art doesn't pay much yet it is so overlooked by others
"Everywhere is art, darling, I'm surprised some humans don't know that! Of course, I'm the most beautiful art there is but I'll have you as second~"
He might blush if you draw him without him asking, he think he's desirable enough to draw without a price! After hearing that you just love him might make him blush harder! Aww, you!
He'll give you several pecks as he laughs after seeing your drawing of him! One where he was posing in one of the photos you had of him during your dates
Anatomy is hard so if you want a nude model, he'll volunteer on the spot, sure he has thoughts but if you're fully intent on getting better, he's happy to help!
Tumblr media
Beelzebub
He's not the type to focus on art so he doesn't understand it much, that doesn't mean he isn't impressed though!
He has heard of Food Art and Food Illustrations though...Based by the Arty Event, he seems to be good at drawing food! He wanted to try it more but Lucifer forbid him in case he would eat the paper and get chemical poisoning or something-
However, if you could also draw food, he would be so delighted!!! He won't eat it, he promises!
It's fine if you don't, though, he expects that you might not understand working out and sports like he doesn't understand art
Might be clueless if ever you feel bad about your drawings, he thinks it looks really good! But upon hearing how frustrated you are, he would give you hugs to comfort you!
While Beel is a oblivious sweetheart, he fully supports your hobbies and would invite you to diners and restaurants so you can draw while he eats! He might even join you while he's eating
As he eats a huge cheeseburger, you drew him, smiling at how happy he looked
When you gave it to him, he told you how spot on you drew him when he eats and keeps it around him, he avoids it getting dirty at any cost
Belphie suggested that gets a photo frame so he bought one! Now your drawing of him lays on his bedrest safely~
Tumblr media
Belphegor
He used to love art as much as Satan and Lucifer does but he doesn't anymore, not until you showed him your drawings
You rekindled a small flame in him that he never thought would come back
He doesn't draw because it's way too much work but he enjoys hearing you draw, the sound the pencil makes when it moves around the paper, and the smell of lead and paper makes him sleepy
He secretly likes those papers that have a nice smell in them so you buy some whenever you go out to get some art supplies
"That's way too many sketchbooks, MC."
"Nothing is way too much-"
Because he always sleeps around you, he doesn't entirely realize that you have a bunch of drawings of him in your sketchbook
It makes him warm when he sees your drawings of him
He wishes he could do more to support you even if you tell him he doesn't have to so like Beel, he keeps your drawings near his bed and looks at it before he sleeps

The Feeling’s Mutual - c!Techno x Reader
PT 1 because I‘m taking too long lmao
Characters: c!Technoblade x gn!Reader, Philza, Quackity, Charlie S
Summary: [from an ask] The reader is kicked out by Quackity from Las Nevadas and was forced to roam around to look for somewhere to live and they end up in Techno’s cabin after passing out in the tundra. At first, you have a shared hatred of each other, but you end up warming up when you figure out he’s been making you breakfast.
Warnings: Exile, mild malnutrition, corruption
————————— Enjoy :3 —————————
“Ooh! I get to go visit you now! Like a vacation!” Charlie cheered.
“No, Charlie,” You sighed, continuing to follow him out of the city, “I’m getting exiled. I don’t think Quackity will let you visit me,”
He frowned, confused. He wasn’t the best at understanding broad concepts like exile and all the drama that brought it about. He just thinks you’re one of his best friends, and that Quackity is also his best friend. Now, Quackity was in no way your friend as you once were. He banished you for the dumbest thing, just because you challenged his integrity. Unbeknownst to Charlie, Quackity was giving away trade secrets, rigging elections and his casinos. You didn’t join him to scam people, you just wanted a new start after L’Manburg.
You walked with him in silence past the bright neon lights and street lamps of Los Nevadas. You were never going to be allowed back here, even though you built half of the damn place.
“So if Quackity doesn’t let me visit, can you visit me?” Charlie asked solemnly.
“Again, probably not,” You stuffed your hands in your pockets and half-smiled at him, “I don’t think he wants to see me back here. Ever,”
Where were you even going to go? No one would take you. Quackity had made many enemies, who were, in turn, yours, and now no one you were allied with alongside Quackity will be friendly except for Charlie. But Charlie was his lapdog, nothing could touch him and you weren’t going to be allowed around him anymore.
Your enemies list was vast, all the way up at the top, finally overtaking Technoblade, was Quackity. Congrats, Big Q, you piece of shit.
Charlie stopped at the end of the road, finally realizing this might be the last time you see each other. He wanted to cry, but he held it back. There’d always be hope, he could sneak out, you could sneak in. But you’d have to do it all in secret, and it just didn’t feel right to him.
“I’m gonna miss you, Charlie,” You said.
He smiled weakly at you and pulled you in for a slimy hug.
“We’ll see each other again someday,” He stated.
You wanted to believe that, but the pit in your stomach just sank further as the embrace came to an end. You’d have to get going, this would be the last time you see him, or Los Nevadas for that matter, in a long time at least.
-
You spent days wandering. Just as you suspected, no one would take you in. Not even Niki because of your governmental associations. You found the occasional scrap of meat or stale bread in some chests along the prime path, but you felt so sick to your stomach that it became hard to eat anything you found.
From the desert to the ocean to the plains to the tundra you roamed. You hunted with what little supplies you had.
There had been no food for days now, the snow was the only source of water within sight. There were no signs of life, no people, no animals, only the occasional dying tree to sleep under in the blistering cold. As if things couldn’t get any worse, the blizzard came.
Blinding white all around. The only sound audible was the whistling of the wind in the frozen, rotting branches above you. At this point, you’d gone numb, the only thing you could feel was your heart beating heavily in your chest as you lost consciousness.
-
“We couldn’t just leave them out in the snow, Techno! That’s just cruel!”
“They’re with Quackity, Phil. Don’t make me explain this again,”
“I’m not going to let you throw them back out,” Phil explained, “No one would willingly come here, Technoblade. They have a reason, I know it,”
You opened your eyes cautiously. It was warm, you were covered in a thick red cape and a few blankets, the fire next to you was roaring. Whatever argument was taking place had moved further into the distance, out of earshot.
Everything ached, but at least you were warm. You let yourself come to your senses. Maybe the exile was all a nightmare. Maybe Quackity wasn’t a dumb bitch after all. But where were you? Whose bed was this? Whose-
It’s Technoblade’s cape.
Your eyes widened as you shot up out of bed. The pain in your legs was sickening, but so was being in this man’s house. You ran to the fireplace and grabbed some sharp steel tongs, meant for poking at the logs, for protection. His footsteps moved closer, the conversation was over.
You brandished your weapon and prayed for dear life.
The door creaked open and he stepped through, shutting it behind him. He stared at you, looking down at the weapon and then back at the tossed bed. He looked unfazed by your threatening pose. You were more scared than he was.
“I lend you my cape,” Technoblade points at the bed, “And you decide the best move for you is to stab me?”
Guilt crept into your throat.
“What am I doing here?” You hissed at him.
“Phil found you under a tree,” He chuckled, “And decided he wanted to adopt someone else,”
“Aren’t you supposed to kill me or something?”
“Why? Should I?” He threatened, taking a step towards you.
You stepped back, bumping into the table behind you, “That- That’s what you do,”
“If it were up to me, you’d probably be buried in the snow by now.”
You scowled at him, rediscovering past hatred towards him and using that to fuel your rage.
“I’d rather be left out there,” You spat, “Not stuck in here with you-“
“Again, I agree, but Phil is the one you should be angry with if you don’t want to be here,” He rolled his eyes and held his hand out.
“I’m not giving this back to you,” You growled.
He stepped forward and snatched the spear out of your hand, tossing it behind him, out of reach. He leaned forward and hissed in your face, “Don’t try anything, kid,”
You swallowed your pride, weak and unarmed. Whether you liked it or not, you’d have to stay with him for a while. No one would take you in, so it was either deal with Technoblade or die. You might as well use this to your advantage.
-
Days went by where you never even saw Techno. Phil took care of you most of the time, but he didn’t have any room in his house with Wilbur being there and all, so you were forced to sleep in Techno’s cabin. It became easier and more manageable as time went on. The only time you ever really saw him were the latest hours of the night when he’d come home and, if you were lucky, at dawn when he left.
Breakfast usually materialized at your doorstep every morning around the same time. Sometimes it was yoghurt, sometimes fresh fruit, sometimes cold meat and oatmeal, but it was always delicious. You suspected Phil was behind the mysterious meals, that was until you asked him about it.
“I don’t think I ever said, but thanks for breakfast,” You smiled at Phil as you helped him load firewood into the horse’s saddlebags.
He looked at you, perplexed, to say the least.
“What breakfast? Don’t you just eat whatever Techno has?” Phil replied.
Your stomach turned, letting the past couple of weeks turn over in your head. You shouldn’t have assumed Phil was the one making your food. You should’ve asked before you just started gorging yourself every morning.
Phil watched as you turned pale and hopped on the horse. He thought that you just ate whatever Techno had in his pantries, and never questioned it. Now, all was revealed. Techno had been making you breakfast.
For most people living as a guest in someone else's house, having breakfast brought to their door would just be seen as a sweet thing, but it was dangerously blown out of proportions when it was your ex greatest enemy doing it without you even knowing. You silently reasoned with yourself that if he was going to poison you, you’d be dead already. That comforting fact backfired as you realised he could have killed you so easily. Your emotions were on a rollercoaster, and your stomach sank deeper and deeper as the more intrusive thoughts crept in.
You needed to catch him in the act. Something about The Blood God making you breakfast created sentiments of self-worth out of thin air. Part of you wanted to prove it to yourself, and part of you wanted to embarrass him for it.
-
The familiar shine of daybreak made the room glow orange. The fire had gone out that night, as it usually did, but the cold felt like nothing now that you had a mission to accomplish.
You slipped out of bed, clad in leggings and a simple green shirt. The floor was icy on your bare feet but you trodded out the door and down the stairs, heading for the kitchen.
The dining room was salmon-pink, highlighted by the bright orange flickering coming from the fireplace. It was already warmer down here than it was upstairs, the fire must’ve already been on for a while by now. The kitchen was out of view, but you could already smell fish frying from the base of the stairs.
Making your way through the archway, you spotted Techno’s red cape on its hook by the door next to the thick winter coat you loaned from Phil. Below them, both were black boots, sprinkled with half-melted snow. The floorboard below you creaked when you stood in the doorway to the kitchen.
Techno spun around, startled by the noise. His face flushed with guilt temporarily but was quickly replaced by a furrowed brow and confused eyes.
“What are you doing awake? It’s five,” He implored.
“I could smell the salmon,” You shrugged and moved towards him innocently.
He turned back to the fish and turned the stove off, sliding it onto a plate.
“What’re we eating today?”
“You just said,”
You scoffed and conceded. It was a dumb thing to ask, but he wasn’t supposed to answer. It was only meant to highlight the reality that you knew what he’d been doing. Nothing in his expression, now unreadable, made you think he didn’t know that you knew he’d been making you breakfast.
He gently pushed by you, letting his arm brush against yours. It made your heart skip a beat, probably out of fear, you told yourself. Your skin went cold, but you followed him into the next room where he put the dish on the table and gestured for you to sit.
“You don’t seem to hate me anymore,” You mumbled.
“I never said I hated you, just that I don’t like you,”
“Well, you don’t seem to not like me either,”
He blinked at you and sat across the table from you.
“Where are you going today?” You said with a mouthful of food, “To do mysterious things, I imagine,”
“I was going to stay here today, actually.”
You stopped eating.
“I finished my mysterious duties,” He mocked.
Well, he wasn’t going to budge on where he’d been going the past few nights, but that wasn’t particularly important right now. What caught your attention was that he was staying here for the day. Again, meaningless to most people, but with him, it was surprising.
He began snickering, just at your face.
“I was never the one that hated you,” He laughed, “You were the one who brandished that poker at me,”
Your face flushed red with embarrassment, “I can be resourceful, at least,”
He continued to laugh at you, the absurdity of the situation hitting him with full force. Right now you wished you could hit him with full force.
“Alright, alright,” He took a deep breath, “I do have some questions for you,”
You looked up at him, annoyance plastered on your face.
“Shoot,”
“Why are you here instead of Las Nevadas?”
“Because Quackity kicked me out, and-“
“How did you know I made you breakfast?” He cut you off.
“I asked Phil, but-“
“Why did Quackity kick you out?”
“I asked him too many questions, just-“
“Do you still hold any loyalty to him?”
“No, but-“
“Questionnaire over, thank you for participating,” He stood up and excused himself from the table, heading back to the kitchen.
-
Techno never left again after that. He stuck around and made an effort to make you annoyed and uncomfortable every chance he could get. It was becoming a sort of game with him, and you were more than happy to play along. It made it easier to get along with him in general. There’d be no more dreading seeing him, no more awkwardness surrounding your avoidance.
Now, you had other things to be awkward about. If you passed each other a bit too close in a doorway, when you tripped over a rug in the living room, the fact that you were sleeping in his bed, the abrupt flirtatious nature of the man you were now sharing a room with.
You never really thought about it, but before he moved back into his room onto a makeshift bed, he’d been sleeping on the couch. He’d wake you early in the morning when he’d get up to make breakfast, and whenever he did leave to run errands, he’d wake you late at night when he came home.
One morning, around eight, he woke you purposefully.
“Get dressed, I want to show you something,” he whispered, gently shaking you.
You groggily complied and eventually found your way to the front door where he was waiting for you.
“No breakfast?” You asked.
“Breakfast after,” He said, opening the door.
He was dressed in his usual clothes, but he carried a large satchel with him. Inside were different scraps of leftover meat and some bones. He didn’t tell you what for, but you were too tired to ask anyway.
You followed him through the fresh snow, crunching under your feet. It was drowned out by mindless conversation that you both kept up to stay awake. He brought you to a distant hill in a clearing, where a cliffside was awaiting. The conversation stopped as he told you to wait, and he went over to the wall and pressed a rock into the stone.
You could faintly hear the sound of pistons firing before the rock slid down slotted into the floor.
The sound of dogs barking filled the forest as hundreds of dogs and puppies spilt out of the entrance. Most of them went running to Techno, who was now holding the bag aloft, out of reach from the dogs. Some of them ran to you, their tails wagging happily at their new potential playmate.
“Pretty cool, huh?” He shouted.
“Holy-“ You stopped and pet the large, black dog that jumped on you, “Where’d you get so many dogs?”
“Long story,” He began to throw chunks of meat into the writhing pile of hounds, who were now obsessively sniffing you.
“I do this three times a week,” he said as he made his way over to you, “It’d get done a lot faster if you could help now that you’re living here full-time,”
“Wait,” You looked at him blankly, “Full-time?”
“That’s the idea,”
You thought for a moment, “Where am I going to sleep?”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” he said, handing you some chunks of meat to throw.
By the time Techno’s bag was empty, it was almost noon. He shephered them back into the cavern and shut the door behind them. They were very well trained, when he commanded them all to sit once they got inside, there was no hesitation. The puppies were confused at first, but they followed along with the pack flawlessly.
Leaving the clearing, you talked with him freely about your plans for the future at the cabin. It didn’t mean you’d live there forever, knowing Techno, he might end up being hunted out of the tundra eventually. But for now, you were sticking with him.
It was strsnge to think that you were once mortal enemies, staring each other down on the battlefield with nothing but rage coursing through your veins. Now, you were cheerily chatting about what it would be like to settle down together. Between the two of you, mutual feelings of respect and redemption. The distrust was long since buried.

Diluc: Comfort HCs
Tumblr media
Oh no worries anon! We’re getting through everything and I can just see the top. I’m not sure if people saw it - probably not - but my entire blog has devolved into “See this genshin character? Animal.” and I refuse to have another cat character so I’m making Diluc a hawk.
Apparently (maybe) Diluc’s bird is a nightingale [voicelines]. But I don’t really see Diluc the kind of guy to serenade you at night in secret because your father doesn’t approve of your marriage.
---
Today’s appreciation post goes to fulltimeventisimp. Tumblr throws a goddamn fit when I try to tag people (even though I literally have a tag list but that’s apparently not good enough) so I hope you see this^^ You’ve been so nice and caring to me I feel so soft 😭 and I hope you’re doing alright! I’m remembering to take breaks and rest  💕💕

Diluc: Comfort HCs
Diluc has always had either an aloof or professional persona based on who he needed to talk to. In both cases, no matter the subject or how Diluc talked, there would always be some sort of forced distance so no one would mistaken it as familiarity or friendliness. There were only a two cases where he felt comfortable and those were with close friends and his staff. The third case being Kaeya but Diluc prefers to not acknowledge him and stashes that folder away. Even with friend’s such as Jean or Elzer, he could never really relax and let his true feelings slip until you burst into his life. Literally. “An unexpected outcome of an experiment,” is what Albedo had told him but regardless, since you entered his life he’s let himself regress into his younger days and let himself take for once.
Maybe that was why you had gotten so used to Diluc’s touched starved self that, when it was suddenly gone, you were feeling uneasy. Lately Diluc seemed to be spending longer hours at his desk or working at the tavern. You knew that he was just busy and there wasn’t any underhanded reasoning behind it, Diluc wasn’t that kind of guy. But did he seriously have to spend every waking moment, day or night, talking to the same people? When was the last time you saw him for more than two minutes? Diluc isn’t a big fan of idle talking but would it seriously hurt just to catch up? You didn’t even get together to have your weekly chess matches too.
You didn’t consider yourself a very clingy person and you knew what a relationship with Diluc was going to be like so why were you getting so bothered? You decided to take the situation in your hands and go visit him at the tavern only to see him so busy at work. It both made you a bit huffy, you wanted to storm in there and drag the man away from his work so he could stop trying to speed run life - not like that would ever happen because the second hand embarrassment would make you dissolve into the ground and you could never show your face to Diluc if you actually did that - but also making you more upset. Here he was, working and running his business, and you couldn’t go at least a couple weeks without seeing him. You ended up turning around and going home to scream into your pillow and sleep the heavy feeling away.
Your inner turmoil seemed to seep out into the open that Kaeya felt the need to bring it up. As much as Diluc dislikes Kaeya around you, he really does care about you and he still does owe you for the troubles he gave you when you first started going out with Diluc. He catches you while you’re off running errands and manages to coax you into getting some lunch with him. You’ve been bottling up your feelings so much that when Kaeya shows some concern you let it all pour out. At this point you don’t care if it’s Kaeya of all people you’re confessing your feelings to, you just want to get it off your chest because the man you’re in love with doesn’t seem to notice you’re actually there and it’s making you feel insecure about yourself. Kaeya gives you a sympathetic smile and tells you not to worry about it, he’ll personally knock some sense into Diluc.
Diluc’s been hard at work on another possible Fatui plan and business with the winery that he can’t help but feel that he was missing something. Was he overlooking something? He had planned this for a while so everything should be perfect. It wasn’t until Kaeya himself had to walk in, press his hand on the tavern counter, and call him an idiot that he realizes that he had been so wrapped up in his work and personal duties that he completely neglected you. He quickly passes his duties to Charles with a quick apology, throws his coat on, gives Kaeya a very strained thank you, and he’s out the door to find you. He’s already lost so much so he’ll be damned if he looses you. Not right now.
You gave him the key to your home after a few months of being together, in case his he needed to temporarily hide should his night activities get the best of him. He’s already at your door in seconds as he quickly unlocks and steps in.
“Beloved?” he softly calls out to not accidently scare you but he receives no reply. It’s dark inside but he can see your shoes at the door so he knows you’re inside somewhere. He softly closes and locks the door as he hangs his coat up. Carefully running a hand down the fabric and beside your coat as he looks around your small home. He’s always felt it was warm even when you weren’t here. The “home” he has will always be the place he grew up in but after everything that’s happened, he feels a bit alienated in there so he always appreciated that you lent him a key.
He catches the sound of some shuffling and follows the sound to see you under your blankets. He breathes a quick sigh of relief that you weren’t in any danger as he carefully circles around your bed before gently placing a hand on your back. He’s never been good at words or communicating his feelings so he’s at a bit of a standstill. Despite his reputation of being a nobleman of high esteem, you’re his first serious relationship. As far as he’s concerned you’re going to be his only relationship for that matter.
“I...apologize for my recent behaviour. It was never my intention to hurt you. I ended up letting myself get too blinded to see you were in pain and that was my fault. You don’t have to forgive me now but won’t you let me see your face my love?” he asked in all his awkward pose, put him in front of massive event and he’ll perform with flying colours but put him in front of his partner and he stumbles over his worlds like a new born fawn. But it seems to bring a small laugh from you as you peek from under the covers.
He smiles softly as he sees your ears flush pink. No matter how many times he calls you that you always get so shy, he adores it. But he can feel the guilt rise up in his chest, you’ve always been there to support and reassure him that he was doing everything right. That things were going to be okay when he re-took his father’s business and you would be with him every step of the way. So in the best and awkward way that Diluc can manage, he tells you this. By the time he’s done he can feel his own face start to pink but it’s made you feel better so it was worth it.
“Feeling better?” he smiles softly as you nod up at him as he lays down beside you, opening his arms in comfort, “Good, come here.”
You shuffle closer to him as he holds you. It’s been awhile since he’s held you like this and even without realizing it, he’s missed this. Just you and him together, basking in each other’s presence. No work that needed to be attended to. No Fatui trying to cause him any more trouble. It was a safe place and one he didn’t want to let go.
“What if we got married?”
There’s a beat of silence.
Then a thud.
You end up scrambling and falling off your bed face first. It’s a bit silent as you give off a pain groaned and climb back up and he can see your face has exploded red. He can almost see steam coming off as you try and nurse your nose. He blinks a bit at you taken aback as you stutter and scream into your hands as your brain seems to process what he just asked. You lift your face from your hands to look at him, somehow go even redder, and scream louder into your hands. He’s not sure if this is something he should be offended or concerned about but the weight he had been feeling earlier starts to fade away as a new and familiar feeling bubbles up. For the first time in half a month, Diluc let’s out a laugh as he tries to console you as you manage out a yes.

Gripping my writing hand why is no one stopping me? Diluc you’re literally acting like Childe rn. [if anyone is confused ahem Childe: Fiancé HCs (should be in my masterlist)]
Also, I continue to look away from the lore. Kaeya and Diluc are not on the best of terms but if they can have petty rich lady wine talk then Kaeya can walk in and call Diluc an idiot.
I was serious when I said that I researched hawk behaviours. I have learned the internet is horrible in telling me how hawks behave. But I did find this and I found this hilarious:
In the case of the red-tailed hawk, for example, the pair soar, screaming at each other; then the male dives at the female, who may roll in the air to present her claws to him in mock combat.

Legends of Tomorrow and the Zarlie Incident: Is it happening again?
As many fans of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow are aware, during season 4 and 5 of the series, the ship “Zarlie”, a pairing of Zari Tomaz and Charlie, became quite popular during this time, especially during season 4.
Zari was a fan favourite character who was introduced in season 3. Throughout the season, Zari kept mostly to herself until she began to warm up to the others on the Waverider. Due to Zari’s closed off nature, she never had a LI in season 3. There were jokes about it, of course. Zari was very attractive to one Mr. Jonah Hex, and honestly. who wasn’t from the Waverider, haha? We’re told them as viewers that Zari is attracted to men. Sounds good.
Then s4 rolls around and Charlie gets introduced to the crew. Charlie takes an instant liking to Zari, affectionately calling her ‘Z.’ Maisie previously played Amaya on the previous two seasons, who was quite close with Zari as a friend, so it only makes sense that there is some chemistry between the two actors since they’ve been friends for awhile now. I wasn’t surprised when people starting shipping the two of them, thus the ship ‘Zarlie’ was born. What I wasn’t expecting was the writers to play into it. They had some pretty close scenes, and by close I mean there wasn’t enough room for two hands between their faces. And Zari made a comment about Charlie picking Amaya’s form because she was hot, implying that she thought Amaya was attractive. Thus the infamous scene happened:

No denial from Zari, just her usual annoyed look she got whenever Charlie started picking at her. Thus, the Bi Zari headcannon was born and mostly accepted by everyone in the LoT fandom. Of course, with Avalance and I believe Constangreen at this time, many people doubted it would become canon. And unfortunately, shortly after, Nate and Zari began dating, which felt sudden to me personally, and Steelhacker was born.
However, Steelhacker canon did not stop Zarlie from continuing. If anything, the writers only added more fuel to the fire so fans could have discussions. This is where I started to get annoyed, because why continue to bait the pair if you have no intention of making it canon? It felt a little dirty to me, even as I enjoyed the banter and chemistry between the two of them. Oh well, I thought at the time, it’s just shipping for fun now.
Season 4 ends with Zari being replaced by Zari Tarazi, or Zari 2.0 if you will. People still shipped Zarlie, though it was mostly from Zari 1.0. Fans were a little put off when Charlie said she slept with Behrad, but it also called attention to the fact that Behrad technically replaced Zari from the original timeline, meaning that Charlie wanted sleep with Zari, yes? Very confusing, but in a weird way, it was almost like they canonized the ship further.
Maisie had been on record several times acknowledging the chemistry between the two, and how much she wished they could have explore that more. Then of course, the news of the filmed but deleted kiss broke out and everyone from the Zarlie fandom lost their mind. There was a kiss, so in some strange way, Zarlie is canon, but only behind the scenes. From a show that does have amazing queer characters and content came a strangely bizarre queerbait that is now semi-canon, but only because the news of the kiss came to light, otherwise it would be another ship lost at sea, dragging people down with it as it lured them with its content. That should be the end of it, right?
Wrong.
Season 6 came out this season with Astra, the villain being manipulated by the Fates in season 5, being elevated to main cast. Joining her was newcomer Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz. Some people were hesitant because Astra was a bit of a polarizing character in s5, with reason. And of course, with any new character coming in, people are worried on how they will fit into the show. However, Spooner easily became a character that people enjoyed, and she somehow grounded the show, due to her very emotional character arc.
Spooner and Astra didn’t interact much until the animated sequence, when Astra turned her into a fork, much to the fans delight. Spooner actually encouraged Astra and after that, the two slowly became friends. They could have some snarky yet fun back and forth conversations and remarks to another, and the two actors played off each other well. They also connected from their lost mothers, Spooner who thought her mother had been taken by aliens and Astra who lost her mother to hell. They had a sort of emotional vulnerability between them that only they could understand.
Then the bowling episode came out and I think this is when the ship really got rolling. There was the big hug at the end of the match were a much taller Astra scoops Spooner up off her feet into a massive bear hug, smiles between the two. I know this is when I became a solid Esperastra shipper.

The pair continued to partner up after this. They partnered up again during the Clue-esc murder mystery game. Something that is very interesting about this is the pairings themselves. Ava gets killed by Sara right away (lol) and Nate dies shortly after, with Sara following behind. When Sara dies, her and Ava are shot together in a typical lovers pose in death. Makes sense, as they are engaged. Zari 2.0 is paired with Behrad and John, her brother and her lover respectively. Everyone is paired with someone they love. So...Astra and Spooner are paired up. Okay, no comment. JUST KIDDING. They die together, and this is shot in such a romantic way:

I know it’s dark, my apologies. But Spooner is leaning on Astra, and Astra is falling on top of Spooner. I’ve watched and read a lot of stuff, and this is a typical lovers in death position as well.
Then we get to the final two episodes which see Spooner and Astra pairing up again. Spooner leans on Astra for emotional support throughout these two episodes, because she knows that Astra understands what she’s going through. Astra was devested when she thought she lost both Spooner and John at the same time. Luckily, Spooner did come back and the two shared a very emotional hug.
Now, this is where it gets a little frustrating as a fan. The writers and showrunners have stated clearly that they are Just Friends(TM). It seems like, based on some decisions from this past season, the writers are pushing for Astra/Behrad, which is like, not terrible but a little strange. However, Tala Ashe (Zari), has been on record to say that she thinks the actors have great chemistry and she ships them. So there is clearly a small divide yet again. So, if season 7 leans into this any more, is Esperastra the new Zarlie?
Of course friends can love each other, hug one another, and use each other as emotional support. However in this case, there does seem to be some underlying tension between the two that I wonder if the writers are going to explore. Is Esperastra going to stay friends, or end up becoming yet another queerbaited sapphic couple from Legends of Tomorrow? I guess only time will give us an answer on this. However, I will say, the parallels between the two ships is slightly uncanny, and perhaps even intentional. Zarlie connected by being two people who felt lost without family, and Esperastra may be doing the same thing now that John is gone, who was functionally Astra’s only family left.
Let’s hope Legends of Tomorrow doesn’t do the same thing twice.
