Summary: Kneeling down, Tony lifted Peter to his feet by his shoulders instead of pulling him up by his arm. As soon as the teenager was standing, Tony was fussing over him, grabbing a clean rag (now conveniently wet from the sprinklers) from a nearby table and wiping the wet cloth over Peter's face to clean the ash off and make sure none of it had somehow made its way into his eyes behind the safety goggles.

Tony was damn grateful that he had become so much more careful when it came to lab safety after he had started working with Peter so often.

Used to Tony's automatic fussing, Peter took a moment to assess himself for any pain or irritation, knowing Tony would ask him as soon as he calmed slightly.

A moment later the man did just that.

"Were you hurt? I heard your cry when you landed. What's wrong with your arm? Did you inhale any of the smoke?"

My Top 10 Ships of 2020

It's been a weird year but I've seen other people doing this. Plus this year I've been way more into gen fics (love a bit of found family especially in clone wars and marvel) than anything shippy. So I genuinely don't know what imma put on here aside from two ships for sure. Sorry this post is super long idk how to do the below the cut thing and I've had this app for 5 years...

10) Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice

It was a real toss up between this, supercorp, kanera and wolfstar cos they're all very integral ships to my fan heart but this son because of the Yuri on Ice fandom's rebirth this year. I've never stopped shipping this, never stopped reading fanfic of them for any extended period of time, they're still my most bookmarked ship on ao3 (although I think now star wars - all media types may have overtaken them for fandom). They were one of the first things I watched where the queer ship I loved became canon and I can't wait for the film (and hopefully someday a season 2). Heck I even made my mum watch Yuri on Ice with me so I think that says it all.

9) Edelgard Von Hresvelg and female Byleth - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

My first fire emblem game was fates when I was like 14 (and finally gay awake lol). I was so disappointed that I had to be with a guy character because the only female option was kinda creepy and also I wouldn't get the character of kana. So when three houses came out I was so happy because finally there were beautiful incredible female characters my female byleth could romance (I'm so sorry mlm you deserved so much more than you got). I got the game as soon as it came out (had to search a lot of shops let me tell you) and started on black eagles. I was actually kinda disappointed back in 2019. I didn't like the explore the monastery bit (still find it kinda tedious) and the battle mechanics weren't quite the same as fates (no pairing up?! Aka my main battle technique for protecting the weaker units). So I got like 20 hours in and put it down. Came back to it in lockdown and finally finished it! I'm so proud of myself I virtually never finish games. And I fully fell in love with the useless lesbian edelgard in the process. When I started back playing in 2020 I was like eh I wish I'd picked a different character to romance (like shes an emperor that's morally very shady) but then the romance stuff started with edelgard and I fell the heck in love.

8) Cory Matthews and Shawn Hunter (and Topanga Lawrence) - Boy Meets World

Disney+ was released in the UK this year and I finally got the opportunity to watch boy meets world in its best quality (aka not on YouTube). I watched it back when I was like 12 or 13 and it's such a nostalgic show for me. Watching it again I still absolutely adore it (and my bi ass was low-key crushing on Shawn especially in chick like me - I'm 18 btw and I got so scared for a sec but rider strong was 18 when chick like me came out so it's fine woah). And of course now I see the possibilities of the beautiful Cory and Shawn relationship like they were so bromance it was basically romance and throw in topanga it's the perfect ot3 (but I'm also fine with just Cory and Shawn or just Cory and Topanga). Read some good fanfic for them this year. My favourite was one about Shawn stealing makeup and stuff and exploring gender (need more fics like this I'm biiii).

7) Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes - Marvel Cinematic Universe

I rewatched all the MCU films this year too. And got really into Peter parker whump and irondad. Plus my eternal obsession with identity and relationship reveals of course led me from Spiderman identity reveals (and found family cuteness) to stucky coming out. Especially when it involves the internet and social media. Not my favourite ship but it's been significant to my year due to the sheer amount of marvel stuff I've read.

6) Satine Kryze and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I rewatched clone wars in prep for season 7 and wow Satine's death was sad and sudden. She first appeared in S2 E13 I think and just the sheer sexual tension of their bickering. "The sarcasm of a soldier. The delusion of a dreamer." Just ugnnhhh my bi ass can't take much more of this. And Anakin just sipping his wine in the background grinning. And I fully believe korkie is a Kenobi.

5) Commander Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I am very much an Obi wan multishipper. I don't really have a favourite but I fully believe he was with satine and Quinlan in his life. I don't think be would've actually done anything with Cody because of the whole superior officer thing. And this probably isn't even my favourite Obi wan ship - that honour probably goes to quinobi or obitine. However the most popular ships in the fandom are codywan, quiobi and obikin. No offence to anyone who ships these they're just personally not to my taste, but I can't stand quiobi, and obikin I find only slightly more tolerable and I think that's just because there's so much obikin content so if I like the concept of a fic that happens to be obikin I'll read it. I'm just not a fan of the mentor/student relationships. So I generally favoured the codywan fics when there was shipping involved meaning I read a lot of them this year. Needed that nice fix it content post season 7.

4) Zuko and Katara - Avatar: the Last Airbender

Again I am a multishipper I have nothing against zukka it's cute. But I'm a zutara shipper first and foremost because when I first watched avatar I was like 13 and denying my gayness and gayness in general so I shipped the straight things and the straight things only. Most of these ships I stopped shipping - dramione, spuffy, some my little pony ones which we don't talk about. Zutara stayed. (I have nothing against any of the things I used to ship I just stopped shipping them so much/shipped new things more). I've continuously shipped zutara since I first watched avatar even if I didn't necessarily spend that much time on it it has always been here as one of my favourite ships. It has such good fanfic I swear including my favourite ever fanfic from any fandom - love thy enemy. Plus like the black games (reread this for the millionth time this year), a delicate subterfuge (which I read for the first time this year and damn it's so good) and so many more. With the avatar resurgence this year I haven't actually rewatched avatar aside from my normal random episode every now and then when I feel like it. But there's been a lot of avatar on my dash from people I follow getting into it and people I followed for avatar returning so naturally I returned to the fandom and read quite a lot of fanfic. I also read just a lot of avatar gen fics which were great at the whole found family thing I've been so obsessed with this year.

3) Catra and Adora - She Ra and the Princesses of Power

Catradora is canon! They kissed! What more is there to say. Arguably they should've been top but I never shipped them that much since I was always very much a multishipper when it came to she ra so yes I was very happy it became canon because we actually won for once but also I've never read much fanfic for them etc. But they are very much a dynamic I love and watching she ra all again in prep for season 5 I really enjoyed the build up of their relationship. The other two only go above because Buffy is my favourite show ever and damn there's some good fuffy fanfic and Aphra and Tolvan is both fresh in my mind and star wars owns me. Would love some catradora fic recs btw if anyone has them tho.

2) Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I didn't realise it was last year that I got super into them but according to my ao3 bookmarks it was lol. 2020 I swear it's lasted an eternity. I got into them about a month before lockdown (which feels like another lifetime). I've loved Buffy since I first watched it when I was 13. It's arguably still my favourite TV show. I've been through a lot of ships for Buffy - bangel to spuffy and now fuffy. I still think angel and her were a beautiful ship back in season 2 and especially in the angel episode I will remember you. But faith and Buffy had so much chemistry in season 3 - she would've been a fresh start for Buffy and the amount of fix it fics I read I swear. My favourite has to be one where they met in LA during Anne and how that changed everything feat Buffy's internal homophobia.

1) Cheili Lona Aphra and Magna Tolvan - Star Wars

I read Darth Vader (2015) and Doctor Aphra (2016) for the first time at the end of 2020 (got a comic subscription which has served me very well already I've nearly finished the star wars canon comics). Just to see canon queer ladies in star wars was so magical for me as a queer lady. I didn't think star wars would be so overt yet as to have a queer kiss in canon (even if it's in the comics) and especially not with the main character of arguably their main comic series. Now we just gotta hope that we'll get it in live action someday soon. They weren't the ship I consumed the most content of in 2020 but they were the highlight of my 2020 because star wars did that and I finally found out about it

Honourable mentions: Vivian and Elle - Legally Blonde, Candace and Vanessa - Phineas and Ferb, Stevie and Alex - Wizards of Waverly Place, Xander and Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I actually don't ship this but damn some authors are good - this was the ship that made me realise I don't need to like a ship if the author is good enough to write it well), Eli Vanto and Mitth'raw'nuruodo - Star Wars (started reading the books last year but finished this year and only started with fanfic this year), Villanelle and Eve - Killing Eve, Kanan and Hera - Star Wars, Barriss and Ahsoka - Star Wars, Remus and Sirius - Harry Potter, Kara and Lena - Supergirl (let's hope this becomes canon next year!) (Those last four are ones I've shipped forever some of my og ships but nothing particularly big has happened for me this year with them so)

I got Disney+ this year so rewatched a fair few things from my youth and though hey my obsession with that character may have been a little gay.

1. Fic you spent the most time on: Omertà hands down. Wow that fic... I mean, just posting it took 10 months. And I started writing it way before I posted the first chapter so, I think I spent about a year and some change on it.

2. Fic you spent the least time on: So This is Christmas. I was a pinch hitter for an Irondad Secret Santa. I got this one written in a few hours due to the deadline.

3. Longest Fic: Again, Omertà. The final word count on this bad boy is 154,668. 30 chapters. It was supposed to be 10 chapters and about 50,000 words. That did NOT happen.

4. Shortest Fic: I Like Oatmeal. The word count is 652 and it is easily the shortest thing I’ve ever written so far. This was just a fun little crack fic that broke me into the Merlin fandom.

5. Most hits: In all honesty, this is a very difficult one to answer because as far as I can tell, FFN does not record hits very well. My two highest fics for Ao3 are Omertà with 8008 to date, and You are in Control, I Disappear with 5450 to date (but it’s porn, so surprise, surprise.) On FFN, the fic with the highest hits (if I did my month-by-month math right) is The Trouble with Gossip (using the Ao3 link) with 6102 hits to date .

6. Most kudos: Omertà again. Really, y’all should read it. It’s pretty good. ;-)

7. Most comment threads/ reviews: Want to guess? You got it! It’s Omertà! You all are so smart. :-)

No, seriously, that’s a really hard question. I love them all and for very different reasons. So I’ll pick one that I haven’t mentioned yet. I’ll say Bear the Burden of Responsibility, which was the fic that broke me into the MCU/Spider-Man fandom (I’d been reading for forever, but this was the first one I wrote). It also was my intro to Irondad and Spiderson, which has been SO fun to write, and the community has been fantastic to be part of, in my opinion.

9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: Hmm. Well, I’m already expanding on it, just slowly. I have a series called Take My Heart With You which is kind of an alternate reality/alternate universe series for Merlin. It mainly focuses on the gap between seasons 3 and 4, and events in season 4, but there is a relationship between Merlin and Percival that I’m playing around with. I also am touching on the friendship Merlin has with Gwen, so there may be elements from previous seasons added soon. I actually really enjoy that one, but I’ve lacked inspiration for it, so I haven’t been writing much in this universe lately.

“Hmm, maybe.”

“Nanouk?”

Kyra laughed, bouncing the baby boy on her knee. “You have great love for that name,” she said, grinning. Bato shrugged, wiggling his fingers at the boy and making him giggle.

When he brought the child to Kyra, she broke down in tears before immediately thanking the Great Spirits. She fell in love with his soft hair and golden eyes, and she held him like she could never let him go. Bato understood. He was like that with the boy the whole journey back.

“It’s a good, strong, water tribe name,” Bato defended, grinning. “What about Toklo? For your father?”

“My brother was named for my father already,” Kyra replied. “Maybe Tonraq?”

Bato made a face. “No,” he replied, shaking his head.

“Why not?”

“When I went Ice Dodging, the boy manning the main sail was named Tonraq. He’s the reason I have a scar on my boat,” Bato said, darkly. Kyra laughed.

“Well, there’s always Soomool,” she offered. Bato shrugged. They had been going over names for two days now. Even Kya and Hakoda offered input, with baby Sokka in tow. The new boy was fascinated with the chief’s son. Bato hoped they would become good friends. Kyra handed the boy to him and he lifted him up so their noses could touch. The boy went a little cross-eyed, making Bato laugh.

“You know what his eyes remind me of?” he asked Kyra.

“The sun?” she asked, grinning.

Bato shook his head. “No. Well, yes, I suppose. But they look like the sky during a storm, when lightning strikes.”

“You mean when the sky turns to gold for a moment?” Kyra asked, thoughtfully. Bato nodded. Kyra hummed in thought.

“What about Kallik?”

Story Idea - Spider-Man Villain/Anti-Hero AU:

Plot: What if Peter stopped the convenience store thief instead of letting him run away? Uncle Ben is still alive, and that major guilt he felt that acted as a catalyst for him to become Spider-Man and look out for the little guy isn’t there anymore. Instead Spidey is a wrestler, then a “hero” who asks for donations to his paypal, and then a mercenary. All his bad guys are now neutral contacts, and he frequently teams up with DP, Moon Knight, and Black Cat (among others), working for cold, hard cash. He drives Iron Man crazy, he baffles Captain America, and Black Widow has a soft spot for him (because she gets that double life).

It’ll be fun when I get to writing it. I’ve got some semblance of an outline. ;-)

Do you know any good fanfics that star Tony, Stephen and Peter? If you do can you please recommend them to me? Thanks!

I just ended up typing this on my phone's notes app. I still can't believe how primitive the tumblr app is. Thank goodness for copy/paste.

So I have a confession, nonny: I'm not terribly fond of the IronDad & SpiderSon relationship in fics largely because the majority of the stories just whump Peter and I'm not really fond of Peter whump. I think it might be his age, but I've also never been a fan of whumping the cinnamon roll character in any fandom I've been in.

And that's basically what a ton of the stories who star both Peter and Tony are. I'd actually like some recommendations of these two that have little to no Peter whump to better endear me to the genre. And how about a story where Peter has to save Tony instead? I'd love to see that. But yeah, too much Peter whump and where the hell are all the Stephen whumpers I'm going to cry.

Also, if the story is not IronStrange, Stephen tends to be poorly characterized (way too cold). Even if it IS IronStrange, Stephen still tends to be really poorly written in like 70% of them - OOC in several ways. A lot of authors who write him don't seem to get his nuances and he's mostly played for laughs or as a heavy hitter if anyone hurt Tony or Peter, and it's just too bland for me. That, along with my hyper-critical, uh, criticism of how minor characters are portrayed leave few recommendations from me in this particular genre of stories.

But I spent the last few days (thank goodness for the notes app) going through the tags to see what I could find/remember reading and there are a few that I enjoyed. I have quibbles of various sorts with all of them but I can set that aside for the most part and enjoy them for what they are.

Anyway, there's a wide way I can answer your question, nonny, as it's quite open to interpretation. If you're looking for the Supreme Family trope, I've found the tag and organized it by kudos. Most are ironstrange with this tag.

It's honestly not a trope that I prefer in my MCU fiction and I avoid most stories with it (as well as for other reasons), but here are two under that tag that I did enjoy:

Sunrise in Exile by Ragdoll

I've only read to 17 IIRC (it's a really really really long fic with mega chapters) but up to that chapter at least it's presented a very nuanced look at Tony that's very different and yet feels completely in character. Stephen and Peter are completely on point. The originality and world building thus far are magnificent. And as of Chapter 17 the other characters in the background seem to be written true to their characters, which is more important to me than any ship. When side characters are written poorly, it reflects on how the main characters are written and just throws me out of a story. Definitely my favorite fic that uses this tag that I could find in a quick search. Very strong writer, very original story.

Hold Me Still by lantia4ever

More Stephen and Tony with background Peter, but he's talked about a lot. And I'm a sucker for Stephen whump so that basically boosts this one lmao. It's a fun story with a premise I haven't seen before either, so kudos to the author for that bit of creativity.

From there, I looked at the Peter Parker & Stephen Strange tag for stories that also had Tony Stark and got this list, again organized by kudos.

The Courtship of Peter Parker's Father (Figures) by flyingonfeatherlesswings

Another IronStrange, but it's sweet and I do like this author. And Peter's not overly childish which is what kills Peter for me in a lot of fanfiction, as if these writers have never actually interacted with a teenage boy before. Which I appreciate. Yeah, I'm not the best person for your question... I'm quite critical of how Peter is written lmao. But yeah, this is a nice bit of fluff.

We're Not There Yet by Isnt_it_pretty_to_think_so

Stars Peter and Tony mostly, but Stephen is there and portrayed a bit differently than he usually is in these sort of fics. Gen too so something different. Good pacing, and a good original idea.

turn back the clock (and I'll try again in the morning) by madasthesea

Again mostly a Peter and Tony story, but Peter's character is executed very well here and it's a great twist on the concept. Stephen is a bit cold for my tastes and it would be nice if he were more 3D but it's still a good story. I adore how Ross is made a villain in one instance because Ross is a flaming asshole and not enough people remember that.

Now if someone could take this concept in this story and do that to Stephen, I'd be really really appreciative. Not sure how'd it all work out but a spell to just increase the suffering of the repeated day is such a great bit of angst that I need in my life.

The End of Infinity by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls

Also stars Loki along with those three. Very very long, certainly original. Most people will like this story. I wish she'd gone drpepperony instead of Pepper with an OC (if Stephen had to be romanced - I'd have preferred he hadn't) but that's more personal preferences than anything. Doesn't change the fact that it's very original and certainly stars all three in various capacities. There's places I could critique it like any of these stories but for such a young writer she's done very well and improved immensely in her storytelling time in fandom in a short amount of time. I look forward into seeing where her writing journey takes her - I think she'll go far.

Dysfunctional: A Strange Encounter by ApolloLoki97

A true Avengers as Family rebuild after Civil War in the first two stories, and you meet Stephen in this one. Great characterization of everyone. Overall this is a fantastic series if you like Peter and the Avengers in general, but it's in this story that Stephen properly shows. Which is why it's my favorite.

Let’s Try This Again by peterparkr

I just discovered this one. A tragic comedy. A comedic tragedy. Basically Stephen and Peter fix the last fight in Endgame. It takes over 10,000 words of attempts to do so. Their sanity goes a bit. The story is unique and really a dark comedy at its core. Also happy ending.

To Lose, Nonetheless by VisionaryGalaxy

Ahhhhhh I'm a sucker for sacrificial!Stephen. Another IronStrange with a dose of whump for Peter and Stephen. (I really want her to continue her kidnapping fic but I also didn't want to actually spam her inbox like I threatened to so I just silently pine for it now. If someone here is good friends with her though I'd be obliged if you poke her on behalf of my pining. This is a bad fic review. Just go read it).

And this one was under neither tag but I remembered it existed.

Just Another Day in New York by dragonnan

Tony has more of a side role here. But what we have is lovely Peter and Stephen interaction. And a spoonful of Stephen whump just to sweeten it. So yeah of course I like it.

I don't know if this was what you were looking for, nonny, but I hope it's something.

Now if Stephen can become as popular as the other two after his movie comes out I'd be a very happy clam.

So basically, a few weeks ago, I was pretty damn certain that Tony Stark was going to die. Actually, I wasn’t certain, I just... had a feeling and didn’t want to have my hopes crushed by telling myself he’ll live.

But then, Marvel started releasing a bunch of spots and little featurettes, and I remember this very specific one I watched that just screamed, “Tony lives” to me.

Tony dying wouldn’t leave people with any sense of having been built back up. It’ll just leave us feeling wrecked. It’s also interesting to note that on the pic with, “It’s that shred of hope everyone’s looking for,” it’s Iron Man’s helmet. At the end of the day, Iron Man - Tony Stark - is a symbol of hope. They won’t kill that symbol.

Anyway, back to the press tour videos. The Russo’s both described Endgame as being “cathartic.” Cathartic literally means “providing psychological relief through the open expression of strong emotions.” We already know Endgame is going to be an emotional movie - more than any previous film in the franchise. But killing Tony Stark, the face of the MCU? After everything he’s been through, after watching him struggle for ten years, watching him die would be downright traumatic for many of us who are so invested in his character.

I also think there’s something pretty telling in how each actor has been acting during the press tour. For the OG6, it’s not surprising to hear a lot of bittersweet words coming from them, but it’s pretty much decided that Steve is going to die in Endgame. That said, Chris Evans has seemed pretty freaking sad. Much more quiet. Even Mark has made comments that seem pretty sad and nostalgic. (This, to me, fits in really well with starkravinghazelnuts’s incredible Avengers cake theory.) In contrast, RDJ has been his usual eccentric self, if not even more so. I can’t imagine that his hype would be so bubbling if a character that was so important to him was killed off completely. No, it’s much more likely that his character survives and the door is open for him to pop into the MCU in the future.

Yesterday, Kat (@losingmymindtonight) and I also talked a little about this, because we both used to think Tony would die. We talked a lot about the stuff I listed above, but we also talked a lot about the FFH trailer.

One of the main things is that, it’s been said that FFH takes place mere minutes after the ending of Endgame. FFH is meant to serve as our window into what the world is like in the aftermath of all that tragedy. I really can’t imagine Flash just casually mentioning someone who just died, especially not a beloved hero. As Kat pointed out, the world would still be mourning. Peter would at least have a sad reaction, but instead he’s indignant.

As for Peter leaving wanting to leave his suit behind and looking really sad in that scene - he’s just experienced real trauma. He died and obviously came back to life. Other heroes, like Cap, probably died for good. Spider-Man certainly hasn’t led to good things recently - of course he’d want a break from it, a vacation with his friends.

I think it’s perfectly possible for that check in the beginning to be from Tony, a small glimpse at the much more mundane ways in which Tony is involved in Peter’s life. Tony is learning what a life without the suit means, what having a family means. He’ll still be involved in Peter’s life - the Russo’s have put too much emphasis on irondad to just kill it - but ultimately, Tony’s focus will be on his family with Pepper. Plus, as Kat also pointed out, it wouldn’t make sense for RDJ to have a part other than a cameo in FFH if Peter’s across the world, presumably on a trip. And with Happy in a relationship with May, Tony can relax a little with the knowledge that his best friend is able to keep a really close eye on the kid.

Anyway, I figured I’d share some of the things I’ve been talking about with Kat recently. Especially because if I got my own hopes up, that means you guys have to, too. ;)

He doesn’t tell her about the intimate, gnawing kind of horror that came with being trapped beneath a collapsed building and knowing no one was coming to save you; the way it felt like his bones were being ground into the damp cement; how he’d felt small and very soft, and how his thoughts keep going over the components of a building—rusted metals, long nails strong enough to jut through cement—and how that might’ve pierced him if he’d moved wrong, like a fork pulled through slow cooked meats.

Watching Tony as he goes through his day to day. Bucky looks and LOOKS, until he is having a hard time even wanting to look away from short spiky hair that begs to be mussed, deep brown eyes that always looks so sad, and perfect lips that Bucky just wants to kiss forever. Bucky looks for so long that now all he wants to do is touch and hold and fix everything. But Tony can barely be in the same room as Bucky, cant even look him in the eye. So Bucky doesn't know what to do about Tony, but he is determined to do something. Because all he wants is to look at Tony, and see Tony looking back with a smile.

But he’s in a relationship with Bruce (or someone) and its not fair. I would really prefer it not have an ending of a 3way. Tony chooses Bucky in the end.

Cap’s incredulous voice cuts through the stunned silence of the cockpit, loud and shocked. He’s standing there with his cowl in hand, gaping at the holo-screen at the front of the jet. Next to him, Tony is standing with his hands on his head, mouth hanging open in a similar fashion. Over on the other side of the cockpit is Jane, who has both palms clapped across her mouth like she’s trying to hold back hysterical giggles.

For his part, Bucky is just staring at the screen like he can’t quite believe what’s going on.

The man, the myth, the legend.

So I rewatched endgame because I am a masochist but I realized somethings that actually made me feel a lot better.

Am I happy that Tony is gone? No. Does it frustrate me to know that they could have kept him alive? Sure. But hear me out:

1) The ending of the movie wouldn’t have worked out as well if it was anyone else’s funeral. That scene is meant to represent a farewell to Tony and, in doing that, to RDJ. It is the universe he created and saved saying goodbye to him. If the funeral had been for anyone else, say Steve Rogers, it wouldn’t have been the same. Because Steve is important for the MCU and for the avengers but he is not the one that would close the story. A voice over of Steve Rogers talking about happy endings and sacrifice and WATCHING BACK AT ALL OF THIS (AKA THE MCU) IN CELEBRATION would have fallen flat because we would still have Tony Stark. And Tony Stark is the one who started it all, in watching back in celebration, in passing it on generation to generation we are sharing HIS legacy.

2) Tony Stark dying may be sad to Peter Parker and to spider-man as a whole. I am a huge Irondad fan. If it were up to me Endgame would have been 3 hours of Tony crying over his lost son. And I would love to have Tony alive to see Peter grow and help him do that. But by killing him they are giving their relationship so much importance and respect. Importance because if Marvel does things right and FFH does start after the end of Endgame then it will deal directly with the effect Tony’s death has on Peter Parker which would make it an equivalent to Uncle Ben’s death in other productions of Spiderman. That would mean that everything Peter does moving forward, he does pushed by Tony. And they are respecting it because keeping Tony alive and having him not go out of his way to ensure that Peter is safe and looked out for after he already lost him once would make him a really crappy father figure at best.

3) Tony Stark’s death is the ultimate factor that makes him different from Howard Stark. I know a lot of people didn’t like the scene, because it felt like Tony forgiving his father for the awful way in which he treated him. But Howard does say something important. He tells Tony that he wouldn’t like to have a son that turns out like him because “the general public’s well being rarely outweighed my own self interest” which translates roughly to “I never gave a shit about anyone but myself”. And we know that Tony doesn’t want to die, he has so much to live for. And he would love to stay home with his family, try to move on from what happened. But he realizes he can’t he needs to bring Peter back. And that is still self interest, sure he helps out everyone but his reasons are essentially selfish. That’s why he doesn’t offer to wield the first gauntlet they make. He knows he would die and he let’s someone else take the risk because he doesn’t want to die. But when he is faced with Thanos, when Strange tells him that this is the one way to win, he shifts. He becomes better than Howard ever was because he puts everyone else’s interests above his own and he dies saving the universe.

4) This might mean nothing to some people. But Tony Stark died being the most powerful being in the universe. He died being the ultimate avenger. Avenging humanity by killing Thanos in the same way that he had killed half of them, that he had killed his kid. I am glad that if he had to die it wasn’t by being killed by Thanos, just another number for us to cry over. He died by choice, he died because it was the sacrifice play, he layed down on the wire and let humanity crawl all over him.

5) And he died with a strong sense of identity. He never forgot who he was. It is no coincidence that his first movie and his life both ended with him saying “I am Iron Man”. We have Captain America who has strained from his identity before, he let go of the shield (”I am Steve Rogers”) and we have Thor who has always struggled with his worthiness, with his status as the god of thunder. And yet Tony never let go. Even in IM3 when he seems to be retiring he still holds it as a fundamental truth that he is Iron Man. And that is so important. Because he became Iron Man inside a cage with Yinsen at his side, the man who told him to not waste his life while dying. Yinsen didn’t think that dying was a failure, but he thought it was worth it if you had something to die for and if you had lived. And Tony lived. He became a superhero and avenged the world, several times, he fought for what he believed in, he was a friend, a hero, a legend. He was a mentor and a mechanic. Someone the most powerful being in the universe considered an equal. And he got to be something he had never thought he would be; a husband and a father. And then he died, to save his family. But first he lived, he did Yinsen proud and did not waste it.

The MCU started with RDJ, and it started with Tony Stark. A man whose legacy was a body count and weapons. And we saw him become Iron Man, we saw him become more, become better. We grew up with him and we saw him fight until the very end and win as Iron Man for his legacy which, since he saved the universe, is everything that’s yet to come.

Rant time

Very short introduction. I’m an adult woman and I have loved Spiderman/Peter Parker pretty much since I was a kid borrowing (stealing) my older cousins comics.

While I’m not exactly new to Tumblr, I have just recently decided to actively use and possibly post on this platform, and it’s probably gonna take some time getting the hang of it.

I am highly, and sometimes even incorrigibly, biased when it comes to my favourite characters. While I like other characters of the Marvel Universe well enough (some more, some less) in the end I don’t really care about the others as long as Peter is happy. (Though he wouldn’t be happy if everyone else is miserable or dead, so, yeah.)

I can ship Peter with pretty much anyone in a romantic/sexual relationship, (yes, even Tony), but I’m not a fan of big age gaps. It’s not even because pairings where one could be the parent of the other kinda wigs me out (though they do a little), it’s more about the fact that I’m a bit of a romantic. I want my pairings to be happily together for as long as possible. If two people are lucky enough to live out the natural span of their lifetime, then that means that the younger person (in this case Peter), will have to live the number of years that seperate them in age, without his partner. Take the popular pairing Starker for example. Lets say Tony manages to not get killed until he dies of old age at like, lets say 95. Peter would only be around 60 years old then. Which means he will have to live out the rest of his live, which may very well still be 30 to 40 years, without the love of his life. And if that number is 5, or 10, or even 15 years, that’s seems to me more bearable than if it is 20, or 30 or more years.

Which is why, if I do post a Starker fic here, their ages will be closer together than they are portrayed in the MCU. (In some comic universes, the age difference between the two wasn’t that significant)

I like Irondad and Spiderson as well as Superfamily in fanfiction. I like when the Avengers are shown as loving and protective of Peter. However I don’t like how much Peter/Spiderman is ‘noobed’ down in many fanfics though. I get it. Peter is the youngest with the least experience. Yes, he needs training, yes, he needs guidance, but sometimes I get the feeling that people forget or ignore how very formidable of a hero Spiderman can be.

Please keep in mind that I’m including comic facts in the following:

For example, Peter is physically stronger than most of the Avengers, with the exception of Thor and Bruce. He is also incredibly durable. His senses are the highest of all the Avengers. He is inhumanly flexible, meaning he can move and bend and react in ways the others are simply not capable of. He can stick to any surface, unless that surface is wet. He has a sixth sense (spidey-sense) that makes it possible for him to dodge a bullet at gun point. (in the comics even the fire of a machinegun) His healing factor is acutally better than Steve’s, as it also grants resistance (and in some cases immunity) to some illnesses and even poisonous substances. His webbing is as strong as steel cable, and people that aren’t at least at his level of strenghts, shouldn’t be able to just rip it apart. He is smart and knows how to think outside the box. In fact this level of thinking has saved the day more than once, when people like Tony Stark or Reed Richards were stumped.

I have read so many fics where Peter is trained by Natasha or Clint or Steve and they regularly wipe the floor with him, and I just can’t wrap my head around this. Again, I get it, experience is a great thing and it certainly can turn an otherwise hopeless battle in your favour, but it is not an almighty tool. And how exactly is Peter even supposed to learn anything, when he has to hold back so much against his much weaker, very breakable Teammates? (like seriously, if he were to throw a real punch, he would break their bones) Of course Peter needs to learn to control his strenght and defend and attack without causing too much harm to his opponent, but that should come AFTER he had the chance to really use and get a feeling for his powers and their limits. In my opinion, considering Peter’s very impressive skill set, Thor would actually be the best training partner for him. He is a few thousand years old and has more than enough experience when it comes to fighting. He is sturdy enough to withstand Peter letting loose on him, without the Spiderling having to fret about causing permanent damage. Then, after Peter has had the chance to really familiarize himself with his fighting prowess and knows how much he needs to pull his punches without loosing his ground by holding back too much, THEN the others can actually teach him some techniques and strategies that he will actually be able to implement into his fighting style. And then there are the instances I have read, (again, way too many instances in my opinion) where the others tell Peter to not depend on his spider-sense so much in a fight. I mean I understand where this kind of thinking is coming from, but how exactly is this even supposed to work? It’s not like he can turn it off. If in a fight, or sparring match, Peter is not supposed to depend on his spidey-sense, which is omni-present, and his spidey-sense is telling him to dodge, but he is not supposed to depend on it, that only leaves the option of ignoring it. So he needs to ignore/supress the urge to dodge, while being expected to dodge by his sparring partner/trainer. How is that even possible? In fact, every time in the comics that Peter ignored his spidey-sense, was when he got (sometimes badly) hurt. That is just not the way to teach someone how to fight. And it always, ALWAYS gets me so irrationally upset when I read this.

Sorry, that was a lot of frustration I needed to vent, it seems.

Another thing I have come across quite a lot in fics, and that I absolutely hate, is when Peter is punished for something by taking away Spiderman.

Spiderman isn’t a hobby, and shouldn’t be treated like one.

Look, if Peter gets hurt, is injured, sick, exhausted, etc. Definitely bench him. Definitely make sure he gets the rest he needs and is at 100%, before letting him get out and fight again. But disallowing him to actively help people in need, making him sit back and stay away, because maybe he broke curfew, or his latest test came back with a not so great grade, that (to me) seems to trivialize everything that Peter does as Spiderman. Its not like he goes out there to just swing around high buildings and have fun, he saves people’s lives. He jumps into burning buildings to pull out kids stuck on a high floor. He webs up armed muggers who might otherwise have badly hurt their victims. He has saved people from being raped late at night, just as he has helped lost children find their parents. To Peter, and to the people he has helped, the work he does is important. Witholding Spiderman as a punishment seems nothing less than cruel to me. Can’t you just imagine Peter sitting in a corner of his room, hyperventilating and fighting off an anxiety attack, because his mind is making him imagine all the people currently in danger because he is not allowed out as Spiderman?

Like I said, if Peter is in need of a break due to injury,or sickness, or exhaustion, absolutely make him take a night (or more) off. If it becomes apparent that his social life or his grades are suffering due to Spiderman, make him shorten his patrols, make Tony or any of the other Avengers offer to cover some parts of the city for him. But just don’t treat his activities and responsibilities as Spiderman like it doesn’t matter. Like some hobby that can be taken away as punishment for bad behaviour.

Okay, that was quite a bit for a first post. I feel like I should apologize for ranting so much, but I just felt the need to. I hope some people read and comment on this, cause I would really like some other opinions (agree, disagree and so on).

how ya feeling about endgame

I am so glad you asked this! because I have a lot of opinions. Here we go:

!ENDGAME SPOILERS!

First of all, I didn’t like it, sorry. It had some great scenes, (irondad and spiderson reunion, Steve and Mjolnir, I can do this all day,what happened after the NY battle, stuff like that), but they ruined the whole time line with no way of fixing it. Every Marvel movie that still has to be made, will have to deal with this and make it work.

Some of Peters classmates for example will be 21, while he is 17. We say cities in ruins and that will have to be fixed before we can house all the people who came back again. Proptery of the dusted will have been sold, people could have lost everything. The whole world is in chaos and Endgame gave no explaination of how they fixed it before they showed that last montage.

But it’s not just the timeline they ruined, they also destroyed characters, like Steve. I don’t like Captain America all that much after Civil War, but there are two things he does: he comes back for Bucky and he keeps going (I can do this all day, anyone?) And what did they do, they made him leave Bucky for some ship that is long forgotten and no one cares about.

I did like that they made Sam the new Captain America, it wouldn’t have felt right if Bucky took his place, so props for that.

Then there are the Guardians, their whole succes lies in this ragtag family coming together through shard experiences even though they are so different. They had a dynamic that worked, and guess what, Endgame fucked that up as well! They introduced Thor just for friction and drama between him and Quill, which will also effect the other Guardians, picking sides, makng one of them feel left out. And the Gamora we know and love is gone, she isn’t coming back. She can’t come back, because she could never be the same without living through what are Gamora lived through and everyone expects all sorts of thing from her. They know a different her and she will have to live with the fact that she isn’t the person who they want her to be, not yet and maybe never again.

And I just hated Hulk/Bruce (Bulk?, idk) There wasn’t anything wrong with him, but I just hated how they mixed them. It didn’t feel right, but maybe it can be seen as growth, that he accepts Hulk and is more outgoing (see, not being scared of hurtung the children who wanted a picture with him)

Then don’t get me started on Tony. He had it all, after everything they gave him what he deserved, a family and a quiet life. Whole Endgame wouldn’t have been possible without him and then they kill him off, just when he had everything: both his kids, bringing everyone back, Pepper. He broke the cycle of shame, as he called it. He was a good father with a great relationship he had with Morgan, but still he can never be better than his father, they took that from him. He will just be as absent as Howard, but for different reasons.

It wasn’t fair and it isn’t satisfying, because even after he sacrificed so much time and time again, the only thing he gets in return is pain and no chance at happiness. That is what he is, he carried the MCU for a long time and they couldn’t give him a happy ending and I am never getting over that, not in my lifetime.

He has so many issues, under which is low self worth and I would have loved for him to be able to wield that gauntlet and live, because then he can finally prove to himself that he is strong and that he does deserve what he has. Gosh, I could go on about this for days.

There are a lot of issues I have with this film, but there were also cool stuff, but it was just not enough for the expectations I had of this, it just didn’t live up to the story of the past films and the characters they established.

AVENGERS ENDGAME THOUGHTS

AVENGERS ENDGAME SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!

Having watched it twice, I can finally write down all of my thoughts. This will be long.

I was already done when I watched the opening credits. They’re beautiful.

I loved Tony and Nebula’s relationship. He’s honestly the father she never had. I’m always happy to see irondad so I was in a good mood for one second there. She let him eat. Character development and you can see the impact that he has had on her.

CAROL DANVERS SAVED TONY STARK AND I LOVE HER EVEN MORE

Steve shaved his beard because his husband was coming back home

Steve ran towards to Tony as soon as he landed. My stevetony heart was already satisfied. He just caught him. And they connected for a moment there. There’s just so much love in Steve’s eyes. They were beautiful.

Tony going off on all them (except Carol because he loves her) and they LET him! They know that they were wrong and they should have listened to him. Honestly Steve was in so much pain but he let it happen. It just showed that all they both needed was to be together. I loved that reference. Followed by Tony giving Steve the arc reactor. The entire scene was just powerful and tense. They were both in so much pain and needed to hug.

“I went for the head” yes honey! Well done!

MORGAN STARK “I’m saved” how beautiful? I just can’t with this cuteness.

Steve saying thank you. He’s actually adorable.

I just want to say thank you to Thor. It was amazing to see him with PTSD because it was shocking. He’s a god. But he lost so much I totally understood. I think people handled it terribly by turning him into a joke when it so much more than that. I just really wish that he and Tony could have had a talk. They could actually help each other. Nobody takes it seriously. They’re precious.

I have no words on Bruce.

I feel like I was the only one who didn’t hate Ronin? I mean a handful of them have all done some pretty terrible things but they’re still there. Clint was definitely harder, but he was still there. I mean I liked this kind of dark persona thing. Maybe it’s just me and my messed up taste.

The new shield! I mean my amazement in Tony will never end. Is this what was referred to in Homecoming? I mean I hope so. He’s always working on things for the team. He’s just so caring and no matter the situation he is just looking out for them. How can you devote your life to him? He is perfect.

STEVE AND TONY FORGIVENESS Steve just looked so in love with Tony the entire movie. Just stevetony at its best. They are just so adorable. It always looked like Steve wanted to say something. It’s just perfect. My ship.

Also, Scott. So many Scott’s. And just a general appreaction for Scott and the rat that saved the universe. Scott eating a sandwich. Scott losing his taco and getting a new one from Bruce. Scott was just a gem okay.

2012 AVENGERS okay but nostalgia hit me like a damn truck. I loved this movie so much and it was my favourite for ages because it had these amazing characters coming together to fight an amazing character. I honestly adored this movie. Seeing it was just too much. THE ICONIC ORIGINAL SIX AVENGERS CIRCLE. I wanted them to recreate it but this also worked so freaking well!

Hulk smash. Or not.

General appreciation of his ass. Tony has been checking Steve out since 2012. Steve checking himself out. This entire thing was just wonderful. I was dying. Stevetony flirting was on point.

STEVE! “Hail hydra” like yes! You don’t even need to fight because you’re just so smart! I was so proud. THAT SMIRK. He’s grown so much.

2012!Steve vs 2023!Steve. Steve is literally so done with himself and I loved it! “You’ve got to be shitting me” “I can do this all day” “yeah I know” the iconic steve line made 3000 times better. Steve is done with himself and that was just wow. I adored this! Then 2023!Steve was losing (which I don’t get because he should have become a better fighter and 2012!Steve handed him his ass) and he just used Bucky! I mean! He literally doesn’t care about this Steve at all. I am here for it. I love this. This entire scene was golden. Steve was golden.

STEVE AND TONY HAVING A MOMENT AND SCOTT THIRD WHEELING. I mean my stevetony heart was bursting. They couldn’t heart Scott because they were too busy staring into each other’s eyes. I loved the way they strategised together. Steve wasn’t even mad that Tony and Scott messes up. He’s just full with so much love. “Do you trust me” “I do”

2012!Loki STEALING MY HEART AGAIN. I was the only person just clapping my boy. I missed him so much! I loved this version of him. He was craftier. He was still just so adorable. I mean transforming into cap again. Rolling his eyes. Being the only one to see the case slide. USING HIS HEAD AND GETTING HIMSELF OUTTA THERE! I love this! I love him!

Also Thor was a sweetheart

Stephen Strange is the the best of them. I agree.

Can someone please explain to me how it was actually possible that Rocket and Bruce were the only ones to not mess up? What?

NAT! I still cried. She was the first MCU female superhero and she has been there ever since. She’s strong and powerful and the the original. I always knew it was going to be her because obviously she would beat Clint in the fight. But that scene was so difficult to watch. The way she is so prepared to die for her family. She took her last stand and I will never not be grateful and proud. She’s really come so far!

The funeral brought even more tears. It was a wonderful albeit short tribute to her. She’s the mom of the group, always picking up after her boys. I’m going to miss her so much. This legacy of women in the mcu is thanks to her. THEY WERE HER FAMILY. Thor refusing to acknowledge her death because he literally couldn’t take anymore. All of this.

Back to 1970. Steve and Tony against the world with their one (1) shared brain cell. I mean “Howard” and “Captain Stevens” SHIELD is lucky not to have them. I am glad that Tony got what he deserved, an honest conversation with his father. He just deserves the entire world.

THE MCU GOLDEN TRIO GOING TO SHOW THANOS. I loved this team up. They’re just the three most powerful people I’ve ever met. I was so here for that hot second where they all fought together. It was just the three of them but my heart is with all of them.

Since when does a blow knock Tony out for that long? I was worried.

Why couldn’t Thor summon Mjolnir?

Instead Steve had to come out of hiding

BECAUSE STEVE IS FUCKING WORTHY. oh my! I was literally squealing in my seat. It was definitely one of the top moments of the entire movie. He just caught it and I could not believe it (I could, I mean of course) Thor is such a fake, as if he was not peeing his pants when Mjolnir moved a smidge in AOU. BUT OH MY GOD I LOVED STEVE SO DAMN MUCH. JUST IMMENSE PRIDE. He was just fighting THANOS on his own and he was doing so well! I was so proud. Just throwing them back and forth. Power.

ALL THE WOMEN VS THE WORLD! There was so much power and strength in that moment. It was amazing to see so many female superheroes band together like that. The only thing was that Nat was missing. She deserved to be there since she was there at the start and this was basically her line. It was pretty much a tribute to her and I could manage that.

I ALMOST FORGOT WANDA TERRIFYING THANOS SO MUCH THAT HE HAD TO ORDER THEM TO FIRE I mean he pissed off the wrong woman

And in that moment I died. I jumped straight into my grave. It was the most iconic line of the entire MCU. Just hearing him say it brought me to tears. It was the most powerful moment of the entire movie. It was all leading up that. It started with him and it ended with him. He defeated his demons and it was fucking amazing for that second. That second was just pure pride. I was just thankful.

But then came the sobs. I mean I’ve already said my piece but this is just extra because I really could go on forever. I cannot even begin to explain the literal grief I feel. I mean I’m still crying. He literally my life, my anchor, my entire world. I love him so much. It completely ended and rocked my universe to see this. It was poetic and obviously predictable but still! I mean I feel like a part of him was prepared to make that sacrifice. After the delicacy which was putting it on the dauntless the first time, are you telling me that his suit was not prepared to do this super fancy swap of stones? He was prepared. It’s just him. Tony is the person to give up his life for everyone else and it is why I love him so much. He’s got the biggest heart. He was always going to sacrifice himself to save everybody. It’s just in his blood. It’s in him. It’s what makes him him. I felt intense grief and hopeless but also immense pride. He is a true hero.

He was surrounded by the people he loved the most. Rhodey, Pepper, Morgan, Steve and Thor. It was the most intense scene. There was so much pain and anguish. He couldn’t even say a proper goodbye. His guilty smile. He had nothing to be guilt for. He singlehandedly saves the universe. He was the reason everybody was alive. He can rest. It was honestly such an important line because he would never rest unless he knew that everybody was safe. Unless he knew that people would no longer need him to save them. He needed to know that he was leaving a better world. It just made me so mad. He deserved so much better. He finally found happiness. But he couldn’t rest. I mean I’m not okay but I will be. He’s okay. He can finally rest after all of those years of pain and suffering. He can just take the good parts. He’s okay.

His speech at the end. It was to them and to us. I know. The same people who were with him during his death + Happy. The funeral itself just made me sob even harder than I was.

Everybody was there. Rhodey, Pepper, Morgan, Happy, Peter And Steve at the front. They loved him the most. God, it just broke my heart. I mean HARLEY KEENER. Thank you for coming! Nick! Must have been so hard for him to. I mean imagine what a wreck Nat would have been. She’s looked after him forever. But hey, at least they’re together now. But she’d be so mad! He was supposed to be happy.

Asguardians of the galaxy vol 3 please.

The speech. PART OF THE JOURNEY IS THE END. I mean it was RDJ’s goodbye to the MCU. He’s been here since the beginning. This era began and ended with him. He started everything and he has carried this franchise ever since. He was always there. He always stole the show. He always had my heart. He always made me happy. I literally cannot imagine more movies without him. What is the MCU without him? I mean, none of us really have any idea. He is the MCU. He is Iron Man. I’m just so grateful to have been born in a world with RDJ as Tony Stark. He will always be the best. I will always love him until the end of the time. He is my entire world.

THE END CREDITS! As if I was not crying enough. The entire movie was just a tribute to the original six and just a thank you for all the work they put in to get us here. They were the centre of the MCU and they needed a proper send off. And this was it. This movie had everything I could have ever wanted. Stevetony, avengers assemble, irondad, i am iron man, I can do this all day but 3000 times better, subtle ironstrange (friendship at the very least), cap being worthy, Loki, every character making an appearance. I honestly loved this movie. And I loved that it was for the original six. They were the main focus and I loved it. It was always about them. I am forever grateful for their hard work. Seeing RDJ at the end just made it worse.
