The Enneagram Types at a Pool Party

Type One: Probably laying out with big sunglasses on talking about how they could have decorated the pool better than the host did.

Type Two: Definitely made snack trays and brought them, giving everyone juice boxes, etc. They are also taking a LOT of pictures and talking their friends’ ears off. Type Three: Almost definitely the host of the pool party. Spends a lot of the time laying out; talks a lot about how much they spent on the pool, how beautiful it is, etc.

Type Four: Pretending they are in a movie while they lay out and stare off into the distance, occasionally dipping their feet into the pool. Type Five: Either stayed inside or, if they do decide to come outside, they are sitting in the shade on their computer or reading a book. Type Six: Making sure everyone has sunscreen on. Definitely had a checklist and is freaking out if they forgot to bring something.

Type Seven: Jumping off the diving board, going down the slide, doing flips, literally just acting like little pool heathens the entire time they are there. Little wild people. Type Eight: They might be laying out and are the person to yell at you if you tip their float. Has shoved at least three people into the pool. 50/50 chance they jump into the pool like the seven has been. Type Nine: Probably was laying out in a chair and fell asleep, they are absolutely getting sunburnt as shit and they know it, they don’t care they are just tired.

decided to play a fun lil game on personality database of “what taylor swift songs are the same personality types as the hargreeves siblings” (it’s actually very easy to find, just search “(your myers briggs and enneagram type) taylor swift” on pdb to find out which taylor swift songs fit your personality type) but luther is actually typed as an isfj 1w2 on there which i mean, i can see it, he’s an isfj fs but his enneagram is more confusing. i can see him as a 1, but the main divide between the votes were between 1w2 and 6w7, which i could also see for him, so i found this article about how to differentiate between a 1 and a 6 and from reading it he is CLEARLY a 6w7, NOT 1w2. anyway right where you left me is an isfj 6w7 song and now i am crying.

i study many forms of personality analysis such as mbti, enneagram, tritype, and just any thing you can find on personality database and i was excited to see that your information was correct but you added other things i’ve never seen before that i would like to learn about.

You’ve mentioned the MBTI, the Enneagram (+ tritype!), but I’ll just go ahead and run through all the different tests I use, even the super-common ones I’m sure you’ve heard before — the MBTI, the Enneagram, Hogwarts House, Four Seasons, Five Elements, the Four Temperaments, the Moral Alignments, the Seven Roles, and the Four Colors (which I have apparently lost the link to, but here is the Hartman Personality Profile, which assigns different personalities for the colors than the one I use, but still provides a fairly good example).

Thank you!! I’m really stoked to hear you think my choices are accurate, because there’s typically a lot of Anguish and Agony behind the scenes whenever I have to pick out the personality types, and there’s never a moment where I don’t wonder whether I’ve selected the wrong one — but ultimately, these characters are very open to personal interpretation, so I’ve just got to go with the traits and behaviors I’ve picked up from canon, and do my best from there. Besides, disagreements usually lead to awesome discussions with others where I can get fresh perspectives (like when @twigstarpikachutroll22 gave me some major food for thought in regards to Branch’s Hogwarts House! never considered him for Hufflepuff before, but it’s actually a really good fit!).

Story Time:

For the past two weeks, I've been working on an extensive PowerPoint for my mom on the Enneagram because she wanted to use it as a tool to help her coworkers understand each other (and themselves) better so that their meetings aren't so tense and awkward. I love making PowerPoints (because they give me an excuse not to work on other things) and every now and then I regain interest in the concept of the Enneagram so it was just something I had to do.

Now, if you didn't know, the Enneagram is a personality typing tool just like the Myers Briggs one. Instead of 16 types, it has 9 types (with 27 different subtypes and 29 Wing-types) and it focuses on personality as a coping mechanism developed in childhood in times of trauma or stress that didn't leave when we grew up. Also, it's sorta built around our motivations but motivations that are fueled by negative traits (like the 7 deadly sins) or a vice such as anger, fear, or shame. Personally, I think that the Enneagram is a little more accurate and a lot more helpful in understanding yourself and others. I'm sure there's a lot of debate on which one is better but since I've done so much research on it for the PowerPoint, I'm more familiar with this one and I feel a lot more connections with my Enneagram type (Type 5) than I do with my supposed MBTI type (INTP).

That being said though, as I read through articles and watch videos detailing the Type Five, I keep getting smacked upside the face because holy SHIT do things start making sense about me. Like I'll read something, things just start to click, and then all of a sudden I want to cry because, "Yes, this makes sense. Oh my god, so I'm not just a fucking weirdo." The more I read, the more I'm starting to regret my choice in my current major because it is just NOT fitting for me but at this point, it's too late and even if it wasn't, I'm too afraid to change it. Had I known these things about me earlier, why I act a certain way, why I think the way I do, why I'm so fearful of everything, why I consume so much trivia and hate being around people, then MAYBE I would've been able to make better decisions in my life.

And I know that humans are unique and you can't possibly place them in these little boxes that the Enneagram or the MBTI types create (or hell, even fucking Zodiac signs) but I'm like a poster child for Type Fives,, it's not even funny at this point. It really is just helpful little tool neatly organized in a cool little diagram that can potentially help you learn more about yourself but I'm not saying it's like,, absolute or the key to unlocking everything there is to know about someone. It's just cool!

There's just so much information on the Types and the Enneagram design and concept just scratches an itch in my brain that makes me just wanna,,, like punch something or whatever. With Type Fives, they're fucking terrified of the world around them so they withdraw themselves and seek out knowledge in a way to better understand how the world works in order "come back later," so of course I'm fucking obsessed with this neat little tool that helps me figure out people on a deeper level! I have such a hard time connecting and being around people but knowing all this will (maybe) make things easier!

And I've been also seeing a lot of "growth tips" for the Type Five because I'm a very unhealthy Type Five but,, I read them and I'm like,, "Yeah,,, no." It's like,, exercising, stepping out of your comfort zone, and like asking for help. All things that scare me and I hate so,, unhealthy Five it is!

But,, yeah,

Especially because their leading function Fi (introverted feeling) allows them to be in tune with their emotions. Very much so that they are driven by their inner compass. Type fours see themselves as fundamentally different from other people. More than any other type, they are acutely aware of their weaknesses and defiances. They see themselves as uniquely disadvantaged or flawed

And because they see themselves as so different, they feel like nobody can see their true selves and therefore no one can love them for who they really are

So they feel like with this thing missing, everyone but them can fully understand who they are and their meaning

Type fours struggle to let go of their feelings from the past. They nurse their old wounds and hold onto their feelings about people who hurt them

4w5 (four wing five): The Bohemian

This subtype is combined with type five. So they're more reserved than the usual type four. But they're also more observant and speculative

Overall, infps and type fours are generally sensitive, creative, melancholic, empathatic, understanding, authentic, emotionally expressive and introspective people
