i was eating through a lot of zuko-centric and zuko-needs-a-hug fics on AO3 like a month ago? Began reading @a-witch-in-endor this is a gift (it comes with a price) fic not entirely seeing tags till it was too late and i was too invested, but damn was it a good read. And i got slightly too interested in the whole concept of zuko ottabodying so yeah i eh i eh, did some
It’s the same concept of him being all ghosty but the body stays with iroh, no sexual abuse thing, just tiny zuko angsty things i guess  OH AND ZUKO HERE STAYS 13 LIKE FOR THE WHOLE BOOK 1 that was my excuse to really indulge in this idea of an au cause tiny zuko is even funnier than the regular one AND HE HAS A COOL EYE PATCH

Aang sat on a cussion with a cup of tea in his hands, he, of course, bended himself from all sides in the warm air, but in fact, his fingers sometimes pricked unpleasantly from the cold of the south pole. Fortunately, the cup was hot as steam swirled into the sky, waving and maneuvering from small snowflakes fall. The ship he was on had no sails and was huge, in the humble opinion of the monk. A soft click of the tile brought Aang back to the table and the general sitting across from him.
- The move is yours, young man,- the general pointed to the board with his open hand, they were playing pai-sho, the quick gesture of a hand reminded the monk of the peaceful days of playing pai sho with his master. He pushed his thoughts into the background, smiled softly, set the cup down on the floor next to the pai sho table, inhaled through his nose, stuck out his tongue slightly, touched a couple of tiles on the board before making his move and securing the red corner of the board.
- Excellent move,- the general praised him almost immediately. - Thank you! Master Gyatso always plays that way! - the smile on Aang's face may have been wider than necessary but he was just happy to chat.  The General closed his eyes and found a deep, quiet chuckle. - Surely history generalizes the legacy of airbenders in totality of their teachings, no one has played so aggressively with me for a long time,- he said softly, his eyes carefully looking at the monk. He placed a bison piece on the allowed edge of the board on his side.
- Yep! You have no idea, Master Gyatso never gives in! And I can never guess from where he decides to attack! - Aang didn't even notice that his voice was louder than necessary and that his eyes were laughing. - Harmony! - Aang exclaimed as he clicked a chrysanthemum tile on the yellow section of the board next to another chrysanthemum piece, but on the red side. - Does that mean I have one more move? - Aang asked almost immediately. The general nodded. Aang flicked his air tile in about the middle of the board. The general raised an eyebrow at this move. - Young man, don't you want to immobilize my bison? Why help? - genuine interest was heard in the general's voice.
- Bison lo-o-ove chrysanthemums too much! I thought they couldn't capture tiles within a six cell radius of a chrysanthemum? So my air tile is protected! - to prove his point, Aang ran his finger across the board without even counting four cells from tile to tile.
- I suspect that the differences in the rules and the meaning of the tiles could have changed since the last meeting with the airbenders,- the general carefully examined the entire board, slowly stroking his beard.
- Yeah, I still can't figure out where the paladin tiles went and what the troup tiles do, so I haven't placed them yet,- Aang noted shyly, he wasn't sure if they were the same tile, but in The Fire Nation font, or maybe he's really been in an iceberg for a hundred years and the game is slightly different. The general raised an eyebrow again.
- Can you describe what the paladin tile did? - Interest did not disappear from the voice of the general. On the contrary, the general clicked the lily tile with cold automatism in place, making Aang a little doubtful of his strategy.
- M’yeah, they could be placed next to the wheel tiles, two cells on the four sides of the board, to be more precise, and the paladin can move one cell at a a time. Oh, and he can't cross the boundaries of the colord board! Gyatso said that the paladin has a strong sense of honor, Gyatso could tell an endless amount of tales related to pai-sho! - meeting the general's interest, Aang talked about the paladin tile, which, by the way, he won't refuse right about now. The general was already holding a new tile with his three fingers, after which he twirled it with two. It was the tile of the white dragon.
- Young man, do you know about the tale of the white dragon?- general looked calm, but some sort of longing slipped into his voice. - I guess i do? Is it about a dragon who lost his beloved human and the sight of fire lilies bringing him peace? Is that why he doesn't fly away from them? And if you take the fire lily tile, the dragon withers. I honestly don’t like to take fire lily tiles if there is a dragon on the board,- Aang noted.
- Indeed, the tale is right,- the general agreed with the story and clicked the dragon tile on the board. - Uh, well, I thought that you would not make this move if I confessed directly, Gyatso also did’t feel sorry for me when it came to pai-sho, but eh, - Aang groaned and looked at the board, drew his eyebrows close and even stuck out his tongue, his face of concentration was completed.
- I didn’t just start talking about the white dragon for no reason,- the general began. - The fact that I invited you to play pai-sho ... I have one indiscreet request,- the general admitted more directly. - Can I ask for help on behalf of my nephew? - the general looked into Aang's face, without hesitation or weakness showing.
- Yeah, why not, I was taught that I should always help people in trouble, this is something like our whole tile! – Aang's face of concentration was broken and again beamed in a smile holding an air tile on his outstretched hand towards the general. The general in question just smiled politely. Wow, talk about a tough crowd.
- What happened to him that he needs help anyways? I give my word as an airbender, I will help, – the monk asked sincerely. - You can say that he lost his way,- the general's directness disappeared into discursive words. Aang guessed and thought about the words for a couple of moments.
- Is he lost somewhere and you are looking for him? - Aang suggested with a raised eyebrow. In his memory, the people of the Fire Nation were more literal than this general. Kuzon always takes everything literally. To which the general laughed again. A genuine guess gets a laugh, but the tile joke doesn't, oh well. - Uncle! What is the meaning of this mutiny in the middle of the day! – a scream should not have permission to be so deafening at such a great distance Aang thought quickly.
- You can’t just not wake me up upon arrival at the miserable-water-scum-peasant-barbarian-village-where-the-avatar-might-be-hiding! Only to search everything on your own and turn around with one prisoner! – somehow the screamimg became louder from the aggressively approaching figure.
- You will go up to the bridge right now and do whatever you want but you will convince the helmsman to return to that village! Or to the place from where the flare was visible! - a boy stood in front of their pai-sho table, no older than Aang, but already in the full armor of a soldier. His chin was pulled up and the visible half of his face was distorted in a grimace of fury. In an instant, the head snapped in Aang's direction, the very sound of the snap seemed to come from the teeth that were now bared in an emotion of disdain. Aang now saw the full face of the boy, he wore a patch that covered a third of his entire face. The monk did not find anything better than to smile albeit it be a terrified smile.
- What is this? A prisoner? - the boy hissed through his teeth. The boy's eye went to the pai-sho board and the cups of tea beside it. - Uncle, did you make the prisoner run freely and play games with tea? – the hissing did not stop, but his breath let him down and some words were lost to the roar. - Right! Tea! I completely forgot about it with our game, - Aang grabbed his cup and took a quick sip.
- Yum! - he exclamed instantly. The general burst out laughing, so loudly that he surprised Aang slightly. Joy and laughter suit the general perfectly.
- Prince Zuko, why don't you join us? I bet you can learn a couple of pai-sho tricks from our guest, you can even intro- - The avatar was in that village! - this supposed Prince Zuko interrupted the general and shouted right in his face.
- Ensign Vaahn! Take the prisoner to the prison hold and keep an eye on him! - the prince commanded a soldier who was standing a little way off the deck. The ensign immediately straightened up hearing him adressed. - Uncle, immediately after you convince the helmsman to change course, I'll be waiting for you in my chambers,- he looked down at the general, Aang noted that this order did’t involve screams. - Dismissed.
The prince then turned on the spot, like a soldier he pretended to be, and headed for the upper deck. Aang watched him go out of the earshot, turned to face the general. - Do you have two nephews by any chance? - Aang voiced another of his guesses. He wasn't entirely sure what he was hoping for when asking the question. Not the General’s laugh again of course.  - Perhaps you can say so,- the general replied with a hearty laugh.
After one quick escape, Aang was running through the corridors on the ship, avoiding recapture from the ensign Vaahn and a couple of easily blown outa way but stubborn soldiers. Knocking over another soldier with a strong slash of air, Aang repeated as a mantra.
- Sorry mister soldier! I don't really want to go to the prison hold! - Aang avoided a pipe sticking out of the wall and opened the door with a little help of airbending, the cabin smelled of incense, someone's bedroom, fortunately, there was no one in it. Aang didn't like disturbing someone else's peace in their own bedroom, but now that soldiers were chasing him around the ship, he couldn't help but run. And to escape he needs his glider, which is General Ai-Ai? Ronah? Irohn? Anor? He probably shoul’ve paid attention to his introduction when the general descended from the gangplank. Aang soared up to the ladder with the help of airbending, opened another cabin door. It was more spacious and comfortable than all the cabins that Aang had seen before, after which he noticed a sleeping person, the glider was not in sight. Fighting back a surge of shame and an even greater breach of personal space, Aang whispered.
- Sorry-y-y-y, - the monk closed the door as carefully as possible so as not to wake the person. Catching his breath, Aang hurried to open the next cabin door. His glider stood beside a decorative table. - My staff! - Aang exclaimed in relief and hurried to grab it. But behind him there was a creak of a door and a quick thunder of a closed iron door. - Looks like I underestimated you.
Aang slowly turned to look at the source of the voice, he could bet he hadn't seen anyone in the cabin a moment ago. But maybe he was just inattentive. Prince Zuko looked up at him, his face hard. This expression on his face made Aang understand that he would not leave the cabin easily. That was where the warnings ended, the prince almost instantly assumed the bending stance and the bright light of the fire covered the monks vision. Aang dodged to the side without losing his balance. Two quick jabs cornered the monk, not good. No one has ever thrown fire at Aang before and he doesn't want a repeat of that, but the prince obviously has a different opinion. The only warning about the attack was only a change of stance and now quick jabs of fire were directed at Aang again. Aang avoided the fire attacks and closed the distance. Once behind the prince, Aang skillfully avoided all attacks, the prince was easy to annoy and aggressively directed attacks behind his own back in the hope of getting Aang, a sharp turn did his trick and now Aang avoided attacks face to face. The prince's patience was coming short, the whole room was filled with fire following the monk, Aang barely had time to avoid getting burned. Pushing himself with airbending, Aang grabbed a hold of his staff.
The prince stood opposite, his stance confident, his hands wound up for quick attacks. Aang didn't dare take his eyes off his hands or is it? A quick glance at the floor showed him the mattress that layd on the floor, right at the prince's feet. With one movement of the staff, Aang set the air currents in motion and the mattress pressed the prince against the wall. The mattress has fallen, and the prince not. That is, he’s not on the mattress. At all. And not on the wall.
- Huh? – not quite believing his eyes, Aang checked the ceiling, you never know y’know. And there was no prince. Not quite allowing himself to relax and begin to think about what he could have done to a whole prince, Aang ran out of the cabin holding his staff tightly. Either way, he should get off the ship.

“Your brother is adorable.” The cashier cooed at Danny, peering over the counter with a smile. “What’s his name?”
Danny looked down to the surly, scowling little de-aged Batman currently holding onto his hand, glaring up at the cashier with bright blue eyes.
Things had already been bad enough when he’d gotten caught in a fight in Gotham, but things went from bad to worse when a magician had hit Batman with a de-aging spell and then shoved them through a portal.
Into a different fucking dimension.
Because of course neither of their lives could be easy. And now the two of them were stuck in Iowa in the middle of nowhere, at a truck stop gas station, trying to go on a cross-country roadtrip to reach the nearest hero city and get home.
He looked up and smiled awkwardly, trying to come up with a name off the top of his head — one of the heroes called Batman ‘B’ when he got hit right? B for Batman, right. B… B… Bee… Bees.
“Buzz.” He said, and tried not to grimace as the cashier’s face warped with surprise. “Like the astronaut.”
This was gonna be a long trip.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc crossover#dpdc#older brother danny except its BRUCE’S TUUURRRB#why are they in another dimension? because otherwise they’d be found too quickly :)#danny has a backpack on him and irs currently holding bruce’s batman suit#bc ofc he’s not gonna leave that in a cornfield for someone to find#he’s extremely weirded out and antsy by the fact that he can see batman’s face#despite being a kid. it Feels Wrong. its respect for the secret identity#how old is bruce? younger than 10#dpdc prompt#dpxdc prompt#older brother danny in progress#danny’s like. 15-ish thats why he’s so anxious#confident danny is fun and all but nervous danny ftw#none of their tech works bc they’re in a different dimension#its their ‘zuko life changing adventure’ trip. the cross country is vital to the bonding experience#nothing says ‘brotherly bonding’ like being forcibly shoved i to the next door dimension and going on a cross country road trip to get help#danny being a random dead kid hero. nobody important other than to his city and now he’s gotten himself involved with batman and co#danny: his name is buzz :) *internally screaming*#bruce is wearing stolen kid clothes they both look homeless#danny doesnt know bruce’s secret identity and vice versa#this is gonna be so fun danny’s gonna keep forgetting that bruce isnt actually a kid#bruce has the memories of his adult self but everything is kid-sized including his brain#so he’s not developmentally an adult all. his brain is that of a kid’s#starry says its bruce’s turn with the big brother >:((

I have brain worms
HEADCANON
Soap has permanent hearing damage in his right ear, making it weaker than his left
Ghost noticed that he always sleeps on his right side, exposing his better-working ear to the world.
He does this on missions, in the break room, and even just lounging about.
One night, they finally fall asleep together, and he finds soap sleeping on his left side.

ATLA AU - Zuko Can See Ghosts
Dead people in ATLA either reincarnate or stay as ghosts until they’re ready to do so. There is no afterlife just as there are no gods. The closest thing to gods ATLA has is spirits but if the Spirit World was the afterlife, I think there would be a lot more humans around when Avatars visit. Iroh’s only there because he went in before he died.
Zuko knows why his mother left because Grandfather Azulon is still there as a ghost to tell him Ursa poisoned him to save Zuko’s life. He was going to haunt Ursa until he realized Zuko could see him and haunted him instead. Surprise, surprise, the guy who ordered the death of his grandson is a dick.
There are many servants dead by Ozai’s wrath in the palace. Their ghosts teach Zuko to stay quiet and fade into the background where it’s safe.
When Lu Ten dies, he regrets that he wasn’t able to save his young cousins from Ozai. Lu Ten stays a ghost and mentors Zuko in combat, bending, and strategy.
When the 41st Division die despite Zuko’s protests, and Zuko himself is burned and banished, the 41st Division find out Zuko defended them and stay ghosts to teach him all they can.
Zuko’s able to escape before the pirates hired by Zhao blow up his ship because the ghosts haunting the pirates warn him. This doesn’t change the plot, but it does save Zuko some pain.
Aang is followed/haunted by Monk Gyatso while Sokka & Katara are followed/haunted by Kya.

goddddddd i love when characters age. when i get to see them older, wiser, softer. when i get to remember their tiny, bright, naïve selves. when they reminisce on times during which i met them. when they visit the narrative of new young heroes and see themselves in them and give them advice. when they carry scars and grief but they survived the times they thought they wouldn't. when i remember them younger and more reckless and uncaring because they lived in the moment, in the fight, but they lived and settled and had families of their own. when you can still see the spark of their younger selves in them. when you can see how much they've changed and yet stayed the same. when others speak of their past and younger glory and the characters get to laugh fondly at their foolish selves who thought they were at their peak and would see no brighter days.
i love when characters age.

In honor of spooky season: Fanart of @spacelattesao3’s amazing and intriguing modern AU Caldera: The City of Ghosts which has Katara as the spiritbender and Zuko as a friendly ghost spirit helping her.
Also including a version in which Zuko has his scar since he didn’t look like Zuko without it (despite him not having it as a spirit being accurate to the story):
