hi lovely ! it's milunalupin :)
could i please request remus + "i waited for you" ? 🫶🏼✨
hello my friend, ty for the request!! im working on my big boy fic for james rn but i wanted a little bit of remus as a break <3 (wc: 691)
“You smell good.”
Remus looks at the man taking a seat across from him, appalled by such a comment. Sirius looks equally stunned saying it, wrinkled nose a mirror of Remus’.
“Thank you?”
Sirius shakes his head like this is the wrong response.
“Why do you smell good?”
Remus rolls his eyes, keeping his posture aloof. “Took my annual bath last night.”
Sirius scoffs. “‘Bout time. Your stench was getting harsh on my delicate canine senses.”
That pulls a laugh from Remus, however small.
By the door, he sees you squeezing into the packed pub, side-stepping between rowdy groups of people and looking around. You’re wearing a mid-length skirt, and when you spot the two boys in their booth it swishes around each hasty step.
“Hi,” you breathe, “I’m sorry. They made me start inventory and then I just had to shower and—” Remus stands to offer you some seclusion via the walled side of the bench seat. You wave your rambling apologies away, winded from running around all day. “Nevermind. I need a drink, Remus. Come with?”
“Sit,” he demands softly, “I’ll fetch it.”
You do as you’re told, hanging onto Remus’ words like a takeout fortune, foolishly hopeful that they mean something. If Sirius didn’t demand so much attention, you’d probably turn them over in your head a lot longer, but he really, really does.
“Think you can show us lads up, eh missy?”
Smothering a smile, you stare Sirius down with false bluntness.
“Yep. You’re lucky I even came at all, honestly.”
Sirius laughs, spinning his glass, half empty and through sweating. You realize his drink is the only one on the table.
“I’m surprised you did. You’re so popular, but you stay humble for us.”
“I have to,” you agree, “I could’ve been with people a lot cooler than you guys, but I just felt so bad. You and Remus don’t have anyone else to hang out with now that James is married.”
“Moony, we’re being bullied,” says Sirius, raising his voice a touch to reach the boy in question. Remus places two new drinks on the maple tabletop, sliding in close to you.
“I’m sure we deserve it,” he says, passing one of the fresh glasses off to you. “We’re turning into losers.”
You bring the cool glass to your lips, relaxing further into the familiar booth cushion and eyeing Remus’ new drink.
“Is that your second?”
Remus shakes his head. “My first.”
He tracks your brows as they pull together. They’d been here almost a half hour already.
“I waited for you,” he explains, smiling gently. Your stomach leaps.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
Sirius jumps in, stepping on Remus’ toes.
“That’s what I told him,” he says, “I said you’re too sweet to mind.”
“Don’t listen to him,” Remus says, following up Sirius’ heel. His voice is still wearing the crooning silk he tends to direct towards you. “It’s the polite thing to do. Sirius just has poor manners.”
Across the way, the man in question sputters objections while you try not to laugh.
“I—I’m impolite? I’m impolite! Please. She’s the only one at this table who was late to a hangout one block away from her apartment. I had every right to drink my sorrows away.”
Remus ducks his head and shoots you a cat-like grin, but Sirius isn’t done.
“And it’s not being polite if you’re motivated by a massive crush, Moony, by the way. D’you know he’s wearing cologne?”
You stare at Sirius, because the alternative of looking at Remus (who is flushed beyond measure) is akin to a death sentence.
“Yes,” you admit. You’d smelled it on him when he stood up earlier, a fresh earthy scent that was too sharp to be soap. Sirius points at your face like he’s caught you.
“See? The only people who notice a guy wearing cologne are his miserable best mates, and girls who want to be waited on.” Remus shoots him a glare and he throws his hands up as if to say, sue me. “I’m just helping.”
Remus curses through an exhale and drops his head into his hands.

Hi can you write a harriet the maze runner x fem reader please maybe with an idea of (your the only girl in group A and then a wall opens and group A and group B gets connected and then you start a relation ship with harriet) that was just a suggestion you can write about anything love its okay if not and definitely don't feel pressured to make one xx💕💕😘😊💗❤️
AN: GUESS WHOS BACK! After a few months and my birthday I have returned. Hope you like this story Anonymous and I did decide to change a few things about the plot but I hope you still enjoy and sorry for the delay
Shot || Harriet x Fem!Reader
•Warning’s• blood, guns, gunshot wound (not fatal), the flare, slight swearing, probably incorrect medical information, part where reader is in bra but it’s not descriptive, angst if you squint, not edited or proof read •Summary• After escaping the maze and the scorch you find yourself getting shot and falling for Harriet while she patches up your injury
Tumblr media
You had just escaped WCKED and again now setting off with Jorge, Brenda, Aris and what was left of the gladers on a mission to find the right arm and to get to the safe haven.
‘We’re so close’ you thought as you got out of the car that had gotten you almost the entire way. The road was blocked by a bunch of abandoned cars several of them had been trashed
‘probably from when this all started and people were looking for supplies or ways to get out’. The thought came to you as you looked through a cracked window of an old truck.
First you heard it. It was loud and clearly a gunshot then suddenly felt a hot pinch in your arm. You felt yourself being pulled to the ground in your daze you turned around seeing Frypan looking at you concerned.
“Keep pressure on your arm” he said as he moved your un-injured arm so the you could replace his hand on your wound.
Everything happened so fast and the next thing you know your being pulled up from the ground by someone you definitely didn’t know.
She was wearing a mask and had a rifle. But she had dark brown eyes. Brown almost black hair that she had styled in twist and she had tanned skin even though you couldn’t see her face you felt like you could trust her.
After a very confusing interaction between Aris a girl named Sonya and the girl who pulled you off the ground who you learnt to be called Harriet. They agreed to take you to the Right arm.
Along the way you found yourself walking next Harriet. “How’s your arm” She questions.
“It’s okay I guess for being shot.. Hurts like hell though” you say as you lift your hand off of the injury to look at it but quickly placing it back and applying more pressure as blood starts to leak out again.
“When we arrive we can get it looked at and bandaged up.” She said looking at you then quickly looking straight again.
“Yeah that sounds good” you say. The rest of the trip was silent.
[Time Skip]
You were sitting in the med tent when Harriet entered.
“Docs busy with your friend but luckily for you I know how to fix up a gun injury.. Do you need help to remove your shirt?” she says as she lets out a breathy laugh. You just nod as she carefully removes your shirt leaving you in your bra. She then sits down on a stool using a cloth to clean around the wound.
“This is going to hurt” she says while holding a pair of tweezers so they were just hovering over the hole using her other hand to stretch out the skin. Then carefully she pulls out the bullet.
“Fuck” you mumble squeezing your eyes closed. Harriet them starts to bandage the wound on your upper arm.
“Wait here I’ll go get you a clean shirt.” She says before exiting the tent. She returns a few minutes later with a cream colored long sleeve shirt. “Here” she says holding it out to you.
“would you mind helping me?” You say looking up at her from this angle you could see just how beautiful she is, how her skin glows as she nods and how her hair falls in her face as she leans over you to help you pull the shirt on.
Her touch is warm and as she stands up you find yourself missing her warmth you both stare into each others eyes until the silence is broken.
“Dinners ready” you look over to the door of the tent to see Aris standing there looking at you both confused.
Harriet helps you stand up and guide you to a small log next to a campfire she tells you to sit before walking off and returning a few minutes later with two bowls of hot soup.
She hands you one and then sit’s down next to you and you both talk for hours. Then suddenly you hear a loud buzzing then you see a beam of light and feel a gush of wind.
Harriet acts fast grabbing her rifle then your hand and pulling you behind her as she yells out orders left and right.
You’re suddenly behind a car and all you can hear is gunshots, explosions and yelling. You cover your ears curling your knees up to your chest hiding your face in them.
Not even a minute later you feel yourself get violently yanked from the ground and then you feel it. A gun placed at your temple.
“Put your weapon down or else she dies!” The soldier yells. You start shaking your head left and right tears welling in your eyes as the barrel of the gun get pushed even closer to your temple forcing you to move your head on a diagonal so that your left ear is almost at your shoulder.
Harriet looks into your eyes before throwing her gun to the floor not even two seconds later she is being grabbed and pulled to a line up you not too far behind.
Your head gets pushed forwards and then the soldier calls out “A45” and then moves onto the next one.
You flinch when you feel something grab your hand but quickly relax when you look over and see Harriet holding onto your hand.
“It’s going to be okay.. I won’t let them hurt you” she whispers so that only you and her could hear.
[Time Skip]
After everything happened and the WCKED soldiers left taking almost half of what was left of the right arm you curled up next Harriet as she rested up against a large rock.
Your head rested on her shoulder and her arms wrapped around your waist in a protective manner as if she was scared that if she let go you would end up in the hands of WCKED just like Sonya and Aris. So that night you fell asleep in the arms of Harriet where you felt safe.
The End

Complaints and Harriet Styles
Klaus Mikaelson x Reader
Summary- The reader likes to complain a lot, everyone in Mystic Falls knows this. Klaus Mikealson finds it quite entertaining though.
Word Count- 2.2k
Warnings- Swearing, biting, one innuendo from Santa Klaus
Note from Author- Might do a part 2 to this is ya'll want it, let me know.
Tumblr media
“Listen, Damon. This whole, “I’m the scary brother” act you got going on it’s such a cliche man. Why not try something different, switch it up. It has got to be hella boring to have been playing the same role for over like 1,000 years, or however old you are. I wasn’t listening when Stefan was telling me the story of you two.” I try explaining to Damon as he stares blankly at me while holding a bourbon in his hand.
“Y/N, who let you into my house?” Damon asks me as he throws back the rest of his drink and then starts to pour himself another one. I just shrug my shoulders.
“You left the door unlocked and I thought, why not? Elena and Bonnie are off somewhere and Caroline is planning some dance for Ms. Lockwood. So I had no one else to talk to.”
“You mean to complain to?” He asks with a roll of his eyes. Which in turn makes me roll my eyes.
“I don’t complain a lot.” I defend myself, which only gets me an annoyed look.
_____
“This is too heavy!” I yell to Caroline as she hands me a box of party supplies that she roped me into to decorate her house with for some stupid party. I look into the box and pick out a long hot pink boa scarf.
“The hell is this for?” Caroline looks at me holding the scarf and rolls her eyes.
“To wear obviously. And stop complaining, that box is like less than five pounds.” She tells me as she takes a balloon from his pile of decorations and starts to blow it up.
“Ok 1. You’d have to hold me down and knock me out if you ever wanted to put that thing on me. And 2. I’m not complaining, you just have inhuman strength so you can’t tell when something is heavy to frail humans like myself.” Caroline just rolls her eyes at me placing the balloon back onto the table by her. She walks over to me and grabs the box from my hands, “You complain too much.”
______
“Ok, listen up, fellow soon to be seniors! If I get superglue stuck on my fingers one more time I’m throwing in the towel and going on home, it’s past my bedtime anyways.” I say walking into the classroom that holds Elena, Caroline, Matt, Tyler and Bonnie. They all turn to me, I hear a giggle come from Elena as she looks at the clock on the wall.
“Y/N, it’s only 8 p.m.” I look at her in confusion then glance at my watch, “Oh.”
Tyler walks over to me and grabs the super glue from my hand.
“If you have such a hard time with the super glue then Caroline and I will go and do it.” He glances at Caroline who just shakes her head and laughs, “And you say you don't complain a lot.” She says to me as she passes me and squeezes my shoulder.
“I do not complain a lot!” I yell to her as she walks out of the classroom. Elena walks up behind me and wraps her hand around my shoulder.
“Come on, you can help me superglue Ric’s desk, but don’t worry I’ll handle the superglue.” She giggles to herself as she leads me out of the classroom and into the hallway. I’m about to start talking about how hot the hallway is but Elena halts us as a man walks in front of us.
“Yo dude! Didn’t you see us walking here? Move!,” I look at him as he slowly takes his eyes off of Elena and onto me. He stares silently at me, a crease in between his eyebrows as if he’s debating something in his mind. The hallway is dark so I can’t quite see his features as well as I would, but the features I do see are very nice to look at.
“Dude you deaf or something? Usually when someone tells you to move you’re supposed to move,” I frown to myself and then turn to Elena, “Wait, was that offensive?” Elena just looks at me like I’ve grown a second head. A look of fear in her eyes. I look back at the man in front of us.
“Sorry if that offended you man. Sometimes I just say things, but also like to move out of my way now please, thank you.” I go to walk around him bringing Elena with me but I feel the man grab me by the elbow pulling me into the opposite direction.
“Hey! What the actual fuck man!,” I see that he also has Elena by the elbow as he says something to her, but I’m too busy trying to break myself free from his grip.
“Dude literally let me go, also your cologne literally smells like the pre teen-boy section of an Aeropostle.” We halt. I see the man turn towards me with a dark look in his eyes.
“What did you just say to me?” Oh. He’s british. God that’s hot.
“Um, the let go of me part or the shitty perfume thing?” I watch as he looks at me also like I’ve grown a second head. I really need to find a mirror because I’m starting to wonder if I actually have.
“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” He asks me with a hard tone.
I tap my chin with my finger in a thoughtful manner and shrug one shoulder, “The sixth member of one direction?” I look up to him with a sarcastic smile and then laugh at the incredulous look on his face, a very nice looking face.
He begins to open his mouth to speak before he shuts it and shakes his head in frustration. And starts dragging Elena and I again.
“Dude-,” “If you open that mouth of yours one more time the next thing to come out of it will be your tongue.” Mr. British cuts me off without giving me a glance. Ok then.
_______
Ok, so Mr. British guy’s name is actually named Klaus. The same Klaus who killed Elena, or he thought he killed her then she came back to life or something. I keep on getting bored with all these stories people keep talking about. Klaus is here though I think to not kill Elena again, or to kill Elena? Once again no clue. But he made me sit on the bleachers and just watch as he snapped Tyler’s neck and told Bonnie to contact some witch or something. There was also a pretty blonde girl, but she left with Tyler’s body and Caroline. I sit on the bleacher for another moment then stand up, screw you British guy.
I step off the bleacher and walk over to Elena who is shaking in fear. I pull her into a hug since I think she might need one. I feel a hand pull me away from her after a moment though and come face to face with the brit.
“Oh, great. It’s you.” I say sarcastically.
“Did you not hear me when I told you to stay seated on the bleacher?” He asks me angrily. His hand was tightening on my shoulder.
“Obviously I heard you man. You like to talk loudly and a fucking lot. You must love to hear your own voice huh? And besides, my ass started to hurt. And also, who died and made you the boss! Just because you’re all strong and have a hot accent doesn’t mean you can just go bossing people around, asshat.”
“Y/N! Stop!” Elena yells to me desperately. I just turn to her and shrug my shoulders, then look back to wannabe Harry Styles. Harriet is looking at me with a dark look, but the grip on my shoulder has lessened.
“Have you always had no self-preservation skills? Or are you just stupid?” He asks me.
I stare at him in disbelief, “You know what dickwad? Just because I don’t want to deal with whatever mid-life crisis you’re currently having doesn’t mean I’m stupid. To actually let you know I have straight A’s,” I stop my rant and then roll my eyes, “Ok, mostly straight A’s, I have one D in art but that’s because my art teacher is like you,” I point to him, “A jackass, and he thinks that only his tastes and thoughts are correct. So it actually isn’t my fault. I personally think my art is much better than his.” I look back up to Klaus and he’s looking at me with an almost contemplative look.
“Has anyone ever told you, you stare a lot?” I ask him with a sarcastic tone.
“Has anyone ever told you, you complain a lot?” He says with the same tone of voice that I used. The corner of his lip starts to move as if he wanted to smirk.
I look up in thought at his question and tap my chin, “You know what, I actually have heard that before. I personally don’t think of it as complaining though. More of, sharing my annoyance with the world.”
The smirk on his lips is very present now and for a second I could’ve sworn it started to turn into a smile.
“To answer your question, I only tend to stare at people who gain my attention.” He tells me, making me stare at him for a second too long.
Ya. Ok. Whatever that means. I go to give him a snarky remark but Stefan runs in looking more brutish than usual.
“Oh look! Stefan’s back!” I say, smiling at him. Which doesn’t even get me a glance in my direction as he keeps his eyes on Klaus who I now notice is standing a little too close to me. Weirdo.
Stefan goes on to say something about something but once again I don’t quite care to listen. So I go and lean against the wall until Blondey from earlier comes in and bites Elena for some reason. I quickly lean up and start walking over to her.
“Hey bitch! Hasn’t anyone ever told you to keep your hands to yourself!” The blonde, who as she looks at me I now notice is very attractive. I have to stop my ogling though because after Klaus rips her from Elena she starts to storm her way over to me. Before she can get to me though my vision is blocked off by Klaus’ back.
“Not her.” He tells blondey rather sternly.
“Whatever.” She says as she storms off out of the gym. Klaus turns back to me and looks at me, eyes moving over my face oddly.
“You need to go home.” He tells me then turns around dismissively. I walk in front of him, stopping him from confronting Stefan.
“You are not the boss of me, and besides why the hell would I ever leave Elena, who is my friend, alone with vampires?” I yell at him, which makes him just roll his eyes.
“Y/N, I’m not going to ask you again, you need to go home.” He tells me.
“Bitch what? You didn’t even ask me shit! You demanded me.” I want to start ripping him a new one but Elena places her hand on my shoulder
“Y/N, I’m going to be ok. Please go home, I need to know at least you’re going to be ok.” She says to me with a dreary smile. I go to argue but she interrupts me again begging me to leave quickly. What the heck is up with people interrupting me.
“Fine,” I turn to Klaus, “But, if anything happens to her, I’m going to rip your dick off.” That makes him give a slight flinch. I give one more look to Elena and Stefan, who gives me a small nod and then head to the door.
When I grab the handle of the door I hear Klaus call my name from behind me, I turn around and jump when I find Klaus standing right behind me.
“Jesus man, warn a woman.”
“Next time we see each other Y/N, I’d like to see that artwork of yours that you believe deserved better than a D.” Klaus says as he looks down to me. I go to speak but nothing seems to want to come out. Klaus must’ve noticed this because a smirk forms onto his face.
“Is this the first time you’ve ever not had a response?” He has the audacity to gain a bigger smirk, “What a shame, I was growing fond of that mouth of yours.”
“Um, ya. Um,” I start to feel my face heat up under his gaze, “I’m leaving now, oddball.” I say as I book it out of the gym. As i make it to the end of the hall I glance over my shoulder and make eye contact with Klaus who’s still standing in the same spot with the same stupid smirk on his face.
“I’ll make sure to wear different cologne next time we meet Y/N.” Klaus says as he walks back into the gym leaving me alone.
“What the actual fuck?”

notes — um I am very nervous to post this. but also please don’t let it flop.
fem!reader 8k words
James has an embarrassingly big crush on you. For someone he’s only met twice now, you’re very good at getting stuck in his head. It’s hardly his fault — you’re lovely. You always smell like flowers (which is kind of a given, he supposes. You work with Lily at Harriet’s, the florist’s down the road). You’re very pretty. You’re quiet and a bit shy but you’ve spoken enough that James at least knows you’re polite and friendly.
He’s talked to you a grand total of one time. You’d exchanged a few words and James had been very very quick to fall in love with everything about you. Your hands as you wrung them in front of you — a shy tell, he’d guessed. Your voice, pretty and soft, and how it’d sounded when you said his name. The way you dressed, your hair, the quirk in your mouth when he’d made a joke, the hitch in your breath when he’d shook your hand. He was a goner the second he’d met you.
“Prongs,” drawls Sirius, followed by a hard punch in the bicep. “You know you’re not as subtle as you think.”
James scowls in the general direction of Sirius’ voice. He’d been staring at you, he’s sorry to admit. You’re talking to Lily and you’re smiling about something she’s said and you just look so pretty.
He badly wants to talk to you properly, he has ever since the first time Lily bought you around to a party like this one, but he’s scared of embarrassing himself. He’s not exactly the best flirter when it comes to girls he actually likes. His tongue gets all tied and he can’t say two words without ultimately embarrassing himself. He’s not as much of a charmer as everyone thinks he is. He’s also scared you won’t like him, but he won’t get into that.
“Shut up,” he advises Sirius, rubbing his sore arm. “I don’t even know what you’re on about.”
Sirius, sprawled on the couch next to James, rolls his eyes and snorts. “Yeah, okay,” he says, all sarcasm. “S’not like you’re burning holes into Y/N’s face or anything.”
For a split second James panics. He whirls around to look at you so fast he almost snaps his neck in half. Have you heard Sirius? Do you think James is a total creep now? No — you’re still engrossed in your conversation with Lily. James breathes a sigh of relief but it’s cut short when he realises Sirius is laughing at him.
“Mate,” he guffaws. “You’re hopeless.”
It’s James’ turn to roll his eyes. “Thanks a lot,” he says dryly.
Sirius grins with all his stupidly perfect teeth. “Y’welcome.”
James sighs and scrubs a heavy hand down his face. Maybe he is as hopeless as Sirius thinks. He’s certainly feeling quite hopeless right now. With you across the room and him sitting here unable to make himself get up and talk to you. As subtle as he can he twists to look over the back of the couch again to see what you’re doing. He’s just in time to see you disappearing into the kitchen by yourself, Lily now talking with the other girls by the ranch slider.
His heart rate spikes. This is his chance.
James is getting to his feet before he knows what he’s doing. He dodges another hearty punch from Sirius, pretends not to hear Lily when she asks him where he’s going, and follows you into the kitchen on clumsy feet like a puppy on a leash.
He stumbles into Lily’s kitchen and there you are. Standing with your head in the fridge, the bright white lights cast over your skin. And there’s a lot of skin to look at. Your shoulders, your upper back. There’s a beauty spot on your back, just next to your shoulder blade. Your dress floats just above the halfway point of your thighs. You’ve got really nice legs. James snaps his eyes back up to your head before he can feel too guilty and clears his throat.
You start and then whirl around, eyes wide as saucers, one hand curled around the fridge door.
“Oh,” you say, breathless. “James. You scared me.”
James is so busy melting over the way you say his name that he almost forgets to speak. “Sorry. Shit, I’m sorry, Y/N, I didn’t mean to.”
You shake your head and your big dangly earrings jingle like bells. “No, it’s okay. Don’t be sorry.”
You smile all soft and pretty and James really thinks he might pass out. He steps forward and leans against the kitchen island as casually as he can, when really he’s using it for support lest he keel over.
You’re looking at him like you’re expecting him to say something. He clears his throat again.
“Um,” he starts lamely. He braves through. “I, um— you look really nice tonight. I wanted to tell you earlier but Lily’s been stuck to you like a leech since you got here.”
You blink at him and James worries he’s said the wrong thing. Maybe this was the worst idea he’s ever had. And he’s had a lot of bad ideas. But then you beam.
“Oh,” you say, shocked like you can’t quite believe it. Which should be impossible, really, James thinks. You’re beautiful. It’s hard not to believe it. “Thank you, James.”
James smiles back. Your shyness at being complimented only fuels him. “You’re welcome. Just don’t tell Lily I called her a leech.” At this, you giggle, and James stammers through his next words, dazed from your laugh. “So, uh— are you looking for a drink?”
He gestures to the fridge, which you seem to have forgotten about, the door hanging wide open under your grip.
“What? Oh,” you say sheepishly, and suddenly you’re embarrassed and staring at your shoes. “No, I’m…” You lift your head and blink at him under your lashes. “Promise you won’t laugh at me?”
James is perplexed, but he’s not gonna laugh at you if you don’t want him to. He licks his dry lips. “Yeah, I promise.”
You smile, then dip your head towards him like you’re sharing secrets. “I was cooling off,” you admit, sheepish. “It got too hot in the living room and Lily’s patio has mosquitos.” You hardly give him time to reply before you’re cringing, saying, “It’s weird, right?” Like you know he’s gonna think it’s strange.
He doesn’t think it’s strange. Well, maybe a little. But he’s been found in worse positions at parties. You look so embarrassed about it James is almost sorry he asked. Almost, because embarrassed you is adorable. You lean back and scrub your neck awkwardly, bracelets clanking on your wrist.
“No, I know,” he groans sympathetically, nodding vehemently. “Lily really needs a mosquito net or something, so we can open the damn door without getting eaten alive. Can I join you?”
You look baffled for a moment, and then shy all over again.
“You want to join me while I stick my head in the fridge?” You ask, an amusement to your tone that James adores.
James shrugs. “Why not?”
You smile outright then. “Okay,” you say, stepping aside so there’s more room in front of the fridge for him. “C’mon, then.”
James practically skips over to you. The moment he steps into your space he can smell your lovely scent. Flowery and sweet, something floral like hyacinth mixed with something sweet like honey. It’s intoxicating. He feels like he could drown in it. But there’s no time for drowning, not when your hand wraps around his elbow and pulls him into your side, your feet shuffling to accommodate him.
“Move closer,” you urge shyly. “You gotta get the full experience.”
James moves closer. So close his arm brushes yours and he could hold your hand if he wanted to. He very much wants to. He imagines your skin is as soft as it looks.
The coldness of the refrigerator washes over him and it’s actually really nice. Even though he can be a total party animal sometimes, he understands why you would be here instead of in there. It’s quiet in here. Nice and cool. No lingering scent of heavy wine. No Sirius to tease him and no Marlene to badger him with questions about his love life.
“This is nice,” he says quietly, over the gentle buzz of the fridge.
You giggle softly. James thinks he’d like to make you laugh a million times over. “Isn’t it?”
“Mm,” James hums. “I should do this at parties more often.”
You laugh again, delighted at his joking. “You should. Then I wouldn’t be so lonely when I escape to the kitchen.”
James laughs too. He can’t quite believe his luck right now, squished in front of Lily’s refrigerator with you, elbow to elbow, the rest of his friends and the party long forgotten.
“I think I’ll take you up on that offer,” he says, smiling big.
The next time James sees you, it doesn’t go quite as well as previously. To put it simply, it’s a disaster.
First of all, he’s late. Remus and Sirius are having a housewarming party at their new place and he’s had training all day so he’d forgotten all about it. It’s not until 9:30, an hour after the party was supposed to start, that he’s climbing in his car after training and his phone buzzes.
He picks it up, exhausted, expecting one of his teammates. Instead it’s a string of messages from Remus.
You’re late James!!!!
We started without u. Where r u????
Sirius is gonna wring ur neck
James scrolls through the messages with a mixture of confusion and dread. Confusion because at first he has absolutely no idea what Remus is talking about. Dread when he realises.
He speeds all the way home, showers at lightning speed, pulls on a rumpled shirt and a pair of jeans that he’s sure aren’t clean, and he’s out the door within ten minutes of getting home. Still, by the time he gets to Sirius and Remus’ place it’s almost 10. His hair looks a mess but it’ll have to do. He doesn’t even think about the fact that you could possibly be there. That is, until he’s finished apologising profusely to his friends and Sirius mentions you. James perks up from where he’d been slumping on the couch, feeling exhausted and sorry for himself.
“What?” He asks, too loud. He tries to tamp it down but honestly, it doesn’t really work. He’s still buzzing with nervous energy when he asks, “Is she here?”
Sirius grins, looking uncharacteristically cat-like. “Uh— yeah,” he says, like it’s obvious. His stupid grin only grows and James thinks he’d quite like to punch his teeth out. “She came with Lily. Moons thought we should invite her. She’s a lovely girl, isn’t she?”
James knows he’s teasing but can’t quite bring himself to care — the prospect of seeing you has demolished all other feelings of pathetic-ness. He leaps off the couch and makes his way to the kitchen, guessing that’s where you’ll be, a barely touched drink in his hand and Sirius’ teasing following him all the way. He’s so busy fixing his shirt before he sees you that he doesn’t see you. He walks right into you on the threshold of the kitchen.
“James!” You gasp, stopping short.
James’ drink, to his horror, has spilt all down your front. His glass, previously full, is now half empty, the rest of it splattered all over your white top.
You barely have time to be surprised before he’s apologising.
“Shit,” he curses, mind blanking. His hands go to fix the damage before he realises he probably shouldn’t touch your chest, where his drink is now seeping into your top and showing no signs of stopping. He pulls his hands back lamely. “Shit, I’m so sorry, Y/N. Oh gosh. I’m so dumb, I—“
Your rush to forgive him is almost as quick as his apology. “No!” You shake your head and it’s awfully cute despite the situation. “No, it’s okay, James. I should’ve been watching where I was going.”
James grimaces. He tries not to look at the dark red stain that looks like blood on your white blouse. It is quite possibly the worst thing he could’ve spilt on you.
“It’s okay,” you say again, softer, reassuring, probably clocking the pathetic look on his face.
“Don’t, angel,” James says, shaking his head. “S’my fault.” He grabs your elbow gently and starts to pull you out to the living room, seeking Remus, who he knows will have a spare t-shirt that’s at least clean. “C’mon, I’ll find you something else to wear.”
“Wait, James. Wait.” You plant your feet in the doorway of the kitchen and James stops walking. He looks back at you, feeling guilty, hopeless, confused, and a bit endeared by you still, all at once.
“What?” He asks as gently as he can when he’s feeling like such a loser.
“I don’t wanna cause any trouble,” you say, biting down on your bottom lip so hard James is sure it hurts. You’re shy, he remembers. Quiet and polite. You probably don’t like people making a fuss over you, even though you should really. You’re pretty enough that people should be making a fuss over you all the time. “I think I’ll just go home, s’only a ten minute walk. I was going to leave soon, anyway.”
James frowns. “I can’t let you do that,” he says, shaking his head. He also can’t let you feel uncomfortable. He conjures a compromise. “Look, how about you wait here while I go ask Remus for a spare shirt? And then I’ll walk you home to make it up to you.”
He knows walking you home isn’t near enough to make up for ruining your top. But it’s the best he can do right now.
“But you just got here, didn’t you?” you say, frowning yourself.
James shrugs. That’s hardly a problem for him. “Don’t worry. I see those two asshats every day of my life, sweetheart.”
You still look unsure but James isn’t changing his mind. He’s going to walk you home if it’s the last thing he does. But first, something for you to change into. He leaves you in the kitchen and finds Remus, whom he asks for a shirt, to which Remus says, “What’s that for?” too loudly.
James explains what happened dejectedly. He’s not exactly surprised when Sirius laughs at him for it.
It’s a quiet walk to your place. You live close, which is both good and bad. Good because it means every time James is at Remus and Sirius’s, he’ll know you’re only ten minutes away. Bad … well, for the same reason.
James tries his best to fill the silence with easy conversation. It’s not hard, especially when you’re so sweet and kind and answer his questions so pleasantly. You’re easy to talk to. You don’t laugh at him when he slips on his words. You don’t make him wait for answers. You ask him questions, too, timid as you are about it.
James finds he enjoys your company even more than he was expecting. You’re like a breath of fresh air. You’ve got the radiance of an early spring morning and the softness to go with it.
It’s safe to say he’s disappointed when you come to a stop in front of your place.
“This is me,” you say, fishing your keys out of your purse. You’re in one of Remus’ band tees and James thinks you look much better than Remus does in it. As much as he loves Remus. He realises he’s staring too late, his eyes following you as you walk up your front steps.
You unlock your door and then look back at him, timid.
“Did you want to come in?” You ask, sweet in your shyness.
James would very much like to come in. He also thinks he might fall on his face if he spends much more time with you. He’s already dizzy on his feet and he’s been with you all of fifteen minutes.
“No, no, that’s okay,” he says as kindly as he can. “I should probably get back, or Sirius’ll have my head.” At least he knows where you live now. In a totally not creepy way.
He steps forward to take your wrist in his hand, his thumb pressing into your pulse point. He can feel your heartbeat. It’s not quite as fast as his feels but pretty close.
“I’m really really sorry about your top,” he tells you. He spreads his fingers over your forearm, your skin warm as late summer under his touch. “Can I do anything to make up for it? Buy you a new one?”
He wasn’t joking, but you giggle, your face lighting up, your eyes crinkling at the corners. James feels something akin to a mad swarm of butterflies in his ribcage.
“No, James,” you laugh, breathless and lilting. Your free hand lands on his forearm and his skin burns under your touch. “It’s okay, really.”
“Okay,” James breathes. His head spins as you squeeze his arm. Your skin is impossibly soft. You smell so nice. “But, seriously, let me know if there’s anything I can do. It was such a nice top, it looked lovely on you.”
You flush like James knew you would. He’s slowly discovering he likes making you flustered more than he’ll admit.
“Thanks, James,” you say, and James imagines if he touched your face you’d be burning. “But, really, it’s okay. I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah. See you around, angel.”
It’s only after you close the door and James is at the bottom of the steps that he realises he should’ve asked for your number. He really is as hopeless as Sirius says.
-
James Potter is on your mind most of the time. You can’t help it. You’re not above admitting you have a crush on him. You are above admitting how big said crush is.
He’s really one of the sweetest people you’ve ever met. Sure, you don’t meet a lot of people. But you’re sure if you did he’d still be one of the best. He’s kind, he’s funny, he’s unbelievably charming. He’s a bit awkward sometimes and you like that, it makes you feel better about your own social ineptitude.
It also helps that he’s very very handsome. You would look at him all day if you could. He’s all dark, velvety skin, inky curls that you’ve imagined weaving your fingers through more times than you can count. Deep brown eyes turned bright with his ever-present smile. Thick eyelashes, a lovely sloping nose, a quirk to his mouth that you think you could get drunk on. He dresses well, too, though you’re sure he’d look just as good in a hoodie and sweatpants. Or nothing at all. You’d squashed that thought before it could go any further.
You don’t even mind that he spilled wine all over your nicest top. Sure, the stain is never gonna come out. It’s sitting in your closet, ruined. Embarrassing as it is, you smile every time you see it. James had made up for it tenfold anyway, walking you home and telling you he was sorry about a hundred times. It would be hard to not forgive him.
“Y/N?”
There’s a call of your name from the office door. You’re in here on your lunch break, not really eating more than you are thinking about James. Margaret, the older lady who owns Harriet’s but only comes in Thursdays and Tuesdays, is poking her head through the door.
“Hi, dear,” she says. “Sorry to disturb you, but there’s a customer out here asking for you? I can tell him to come back later, if you’d like, but he seems quite insistent.”
He. Of course, your mind flies straight to James. Which is ridiculous, you know, but it was already parked and idle at James, anyway.
“He’s asking for me?” You ask, perplexed. You don’t usually get personally requested by customers. And if it is James, you’re sure he’d ask for Lily instead.
“Yes, dear,” Margaret smiles, and she looks amused.
You get up because it’s your job, not because you’re hoping like hell it’s James. You put down your barely-eaten sandwich, brush past Margaret with a small ‘thank you’ and emerge into the shop.
There, standing at the counter, is James Potter.
“Y/N!” He says as soon as you emerge. He’s bouncy. Frazzled. You would even say excited. “Hi, lovely. I’m really sorry to barge in on you like this, were you on your break?”
“Oh, um, no. It just ended,” you lie. You still had a good ten minutes left. Not that you’re gonna tell him that.
James’ smile makes the lie worth it. “Perfect. ‘Cos I need your help.”
You think you physically perk up. Like a cat when it smells food is near. You hope he doesn’t notice.
“Okay,” you smile. You’re happy to help if it’s James you’re helping. “With that?”
James explains that he needs a bouquet, your best work, better than a boring one you can get at the grocery store because he really really needs this person he’s giving it to to like it. Your smile fades at this. At the fact that he’s getting flowers for someone else. He won’t tell you who this someone else is. He also won’t tell you why he’s giving it to them. You’re sorry to assume it’s a girl he likes. Possibly Lily? Maybe that’s why he asked for you and not her. You wouldn’t be surprised, they’re close and she’s gorgeous.
Of course, you help him anyway. You recommend flowers that last the longest, colours that go together, which ones smell the best. He’s asks you what your favourites are and ends up going with those, saying he trusts your judgment.
You have to admit it’s all very endearing. And you have so much fun helping him that by the time he leaves, arms full of a huge bouquet made up of all your picks of flowers, you’re beaming. Despite the daunting fact that he’s walking out of your shop with a bouquet for someone else.
Margaret appears once he’s gone. She’s got this big smile on her face that you can’t quite make sense of.
“He’s a handsome one,” she muses. “Is he your boyfriend?”
Your cheeks go redder than the roses on the shelf behind you.
Much later, you’re in the comfort of your small home, a bowl of steaming hot mac and cheese in your lap while the TV drones on. It’s some sort of romantic comedy that you can’t say you’re very interested in. Despite the lead male being very attractive. You’re about to change programmes when there’s a knock on your door.
You start. Nobody ever comes over. You don’t have many friends, and the ones that you do have, you tend to go over to their places, rather than the other way around. You’re so busy worrying about who it is that you haven’t even stood up before there’s another knock.
You get up off the couch, mac and cheese forgotten on the coffee table. You give your outfit a once over. You’re in sleep shorts and a hoodie that’s too big for you. Not your best work, but it’ll have to do. You fix your hair with little to no care and then open the door.
It’s James. You gape. You definitely should’ve paid more attention to your hair.
“James,” you say.
He beams right back, seemingly unaware of your sleepy appearance. “Hi, sweetheart.”
You stare at him. He looks pretty as ever. It’s only just going on sunset, and the colourful sky casts streaks of orange and golden yellow over his pretty face. The last bits of sun tangle themselves into his curls and drown themselves in his eyes. He’s dressed casual, but he still manages to pull it off, like you’d thought. A hoodie and jeans, a pair of beat up converse. He’s hiding something behind his back and you think you hear cellophane crinkle when he moves.
“I’m sorry I didn’t call,” he’s saying. He doesn’t have your number. But Lily does. Is it crazy to think he’s maybe asked her for it? “Is this a bad time?”
His kindness reminds you how to speak. “Uh— um, no. S’not a bad time, I just wasn’t expecting anyone. Are you— um, did you want to come in?”
You’re rambling, you know. He hasn’t even told you why he’s here and you’re asking him to come in.
James smiles kindly and it makes it all better. He’s good at that. At making you feel okay for being a bit of an awkward loser (your own words, not his, of course.)
“I’d love to come in, he says, all smiles. “But first, I have something for you.” He pulls whatever he’s been hiding out from behind his back and offers it to you between your chest and his. “To say I’m sorry about your top.”
You blink. It’s a bouquet. It’s the bouquet. The one you’d helped him put together. The one that has all your favourite flowers and colours and smells because despite you thinking it was for someone else, you’d still wanted the best for James. You blink again.
“James,” you say, a little breathless, a lot speechless. “They’re for me?”
James laughs and you feel dizzy for a moment. He’s got a really nice laugh. “F’course there for you, sweetheart. Who else?”
He makes you take them from him, one of his hands guiding yours around the stalks. His skin is warm and sets yours on fire. You’re surprised the bouquet doesn’t go up in flames when you take it from him.
“I-I don’t know,” you stutter. “I thought …” you don’t finish your sentence. You’d thought they were for some other girl who’d caught his eye. You change tactics mid sentence, “They’re lovely, James.”
“I know they are, dove. You picked ‘em out.”
You giggle then. He’s the sweetest boy on the planet, you decide. He let you pick out your own flowers, and you didn’t even know it. You’ve never properly been given flowers before, despite working at a florist’s. It’s a new feeling. Like a star burning in your chest that doesn’t seem to want to go out. It hovers in you ribcage and stays there, buzzing madly.
“Thank you,” you say, lifting your eyes to his. You find he’s already gazing right back at you. There’s a rogue curl falling over his forehead that you’d love to push out of the way. “Really. I love them.”
James flashes you a boyish grin. “Good, ‘cos if you didn’t, I’d have to have a word with the girl who chose them.”
You’re still beaming when he comes inside. He follows you into the kitchen, where you find a vase for the flowers. You set about taking them out of their packaging, cutting the stalks and putting them gently in the glass vase filled with water.
James watches you and you can tell he’s trying to be nonchalant about it all, about being in your space, but his eyes scan your kitchen like it’s a map he’s trying to figure out. Your mismatched mugs on the counter. Your magnets and Polaroids and receipts on the fridge. Your overgrown plants on the windowsill.
You carry your flowers to your small living room and put them in the dead center of your coffee table. The bouquet is so big it would block most of your view of the TV if you sat on the couch. You hardly care. You’d rather look at them than the TV, anyway.
Setting the flowers down, you spot your half eaten mac and cheese and hope James doesn’t take you for a slob. You’re lucky he didn’t catch you on a Friday night. You’d be drowning in ice cream, probably.
“Are you hungry?” You ask him, half hoping he’ll say no, because who in their right mind asks their crush if they want macaroni and cheese? It’s so lame, but you can’t take it back now. “I have mac and cheese, but that’s about it, sorry.”
You cringe and wish you’d held your tongue, but James beams.
“I’d love some mac n’ cheese,” he says. “Unless it’s boxed, that shit tastes like cardboard.”
You get him some mac and cheese, glad you made it yourself, gladder you haven’t resorted to boxed food just yet. The two of you sit in the kitchen on your tall kitchen stools under your golden lights and eat. James is easier to be around than anyone you’ve ever met. He makes you feel special but not to the point where it’s too overwhelming. He’s kind and he’s golden, he acts like you’re the only person he ever wants to talk to.
Watching him eat in your home is more of a pleasure for you than you’d like to admit. He compliments your cooking. He says he likes the bowl he’s got, which is a white one with pink flowers all over it that you bought at a market ages ago. He gets a string of cheese dangling from his lip and makes a dorky face trying to get it into his mouth without using his fingers. You think you’d like to kiss him. His lips all puckered and eyes crossed as he attempts to scoop the cheese into his waiting mouth.
You’re so busy laughing at him that you don’t notice your own bowl balancing precariously on the edge of the counter. When you go back to take another spoonful, your hand knocks the bowl and it goes tumbling. Right into your lap.
“Shit,” you curse, gasping when a dollop of hot pasta lands half on your thigh and half on your shorts. The sauce spreads like wildfire over the fabric of your sleep shorts. Why do things keep spilling on your clothes when James is around? It’s becoming a theme. Your horror grows when the bowl clatters to the floor and while it doesn’t smash, it spills mac & cheese everywhere. “Oh, shit, that’s embarrassing. Um.”
You bend to clean up your mess but James beats you to it.
“Here, let me,” he says. He slides off his chair and is quick to start scooping up the ruined pasta.
“Sorry,” you stutter, standing helplessly as James cleans up your mess for you.
“Don’t be,” James shrugs and looks up at you, his cheeks dimpling as he smiles kindly. “Go change, I’ll sort this out.”
You feel an overwhelming rush of gratitude and affection for him that makes you want to kiss him stupid. You don’t. Instead you go down to your room and find something to change into. Seeing as he’s already seen you in your sleep shorts, you suppose your checkered flannel pyjama pants aren’t really much worse. Nothing can be more embarrassing than what’s just happened, you decide.
By the time you’ve changed (plus spent a lot of extra time staring at yourself in the mirror, practicing your smile), James has cleaned up the spill and is washing your bowls in the sink. You decide then and there that you like him a lot more than you’d initially thought.
You emerge into the kitchen on light footing. You feel like a magnet being drawn to him like this. It’s bizzare, how much you want to be around him, no matter how shy he makes you. It’s something you’ve never experienced before. A rip in the ocean calling your name. You know of the danger but you don’t really care. You ignore the signs because he’s James and you don’t think he has a mean bone in his body. The warning signs basically don’t exist.
“Thank you, James,” you say, standing on the threshold of the kitchen.
James flashes you a big smile, up to his arms in soap and suds, scrubbing away at a bowl. He looks like a house husband. It’s almost more than your heart can take. “That’s okay. Hey, nice pyjamas. Y’look good.”
You can tell by his tone he’s not teasing. He’s being genuine, which is somehow worse than if he’d been teasing. Your smile is so big it hurts.
-
James is gonna kiss you tonight. He’s sure of it.
So far, all of his advances have gone well. Perfect, even. Unless you count the drink-spilling incident, but if it hadn’t been for that he’d probably never have found the courage to get you alone again.
He’s taken you out to lunch once. He’s been into your work twice, not including the first time. He’s invited you to his rugby game tonight, to which you’d said yes more enthusiastically than he’d expected. It’s not exactly a date, per say. But he’d wanted to see you today and he had a game and his coach would blow his head off if he’d missed it for a girl. No matter how lovely said girl is.
He’s waxed poetic about you to Sirius and Remus more times than he can count. He’s yet to kiss you. Sirius thinks this is beyond absurd.
“So you haven’t even kissed her yet?” He asks, incredulous. He’s in his rugby kit, hair up in braids, chugging a Gatorade though the game hasn’t even started yet. “What’s the hold up, mate?”
James groans. Sirius is yet to understand that some people don’t like to jump into the deep end before they’re ready. “I don’t want to scare her off,” he explains, straightening up from where he’d been tying his laces.
“Oh yeah, you’re reaaally scary, Prongsie,” Sirius drawls, dripping in sarcasm. He rolls his eyes and then clasps James’ shoulder. He’s surprisingly and uncharacteristically genuine when he says, “Look, I think she likes you enough that kissing her won’t scare her off.”
James blinks and looks up at his friend. “You think she likes me?”
Sirius makes a face. “Are you kidding? What other girl would want to watch you eat shit in a field with a dozen other sweaty guys?”
And he’s back, James thinks. Trust Sirius to be a sweetheart one second and as asshole the next.
Soon enough James is out on the field and he wants to say his mind is on the game and not you but he’d be lying.
For the first five minutes he’s distracted trying to spot you in the stands. Then the next ten minutes are spent trying not to stare at you. You’re with Remus, whom James is hoping isn’t relaying anything he’s ever said to him about you.
You look as though, to James’ extreme delight, that you’ve dressed up for this. In a pretty dress and a jacket that borders on being so big on you it swallows you up. Sure, you’d still looked pretty drop-dead in your pyjamas the other night. But this is another level of gorgeous.
The first chance he gets he bounds over to you, ignoring his coaches instructions to ‘stay with the team’. Most of the team has scattered for half time, anyway. James makes a beeline for you.
“You came!” He shouts as soon as you’re in shouting distance.
You grin and wave at him, brilliant and dazzling and so damn pretty in the early evening sun. You’re not far up the stadium and James is grateful he doesn’t have to climb too many steps — though he’d definitely climb all the way to the top row to see you if he had to.
“Hi, James,” you say, looking happy as a clam to see him.
James beams back. He wonders vaguely if he looks as lovesick as he’s feeling. He can’t even bring himself to care if he does. He’s lucky Remus is nowhere to be seen — probably loving on Sirius somewhere.
“Hi, angel,” James says, smiling around his words, which come out all sticky-sounding and fond. “I’m so glad you came.”
You beam and rock on your heels, looking one part shy and two parts delighted, your hands clasped in front of you like you’re not sure what to do now.
“Can I give you a hug?” James asks. “I’m so happy to see you, I might explode if you say no.”
He’s joking, of course. Or maybe not so much. You nod, a tad vehement, James notices smugly.
“Yes, please,” you say, breathless.
James steps into your space, heartbeat a mile a minute. You smell like flowers again. Lavender, he thinks. He definitely doesn’t smell anywhere near as good. “You’re sure I’m not too sweaty and gross?”
You shrug. “I don’t care, James.”
“You should. You look lovely.”
You make a noise that sounds half pained and half pleased and it makes James’ heart skyrocket.
“Can you just hug me?” You ask, a hint of desperation in your tone that’s actually much more than a hint but James is trying to be a gentleman. “Please?”
James thinks if you keep this up (by this, he means, acting as though maybe you like him as much as he likes you), he’ll die on the spot. He hugs you. For his own and your sake. Wraps you up in a big strong hug that’s so passionate he accidentally lifts you off the ground slightly. You don’t seem to mind. Your arms weave around his neck like they were meant to and you hook your chin over his shoulder and go all melty.
James almost moans. He can’t believe how perfectly you fit in his arms. How your body melds into his so nicely. He’s big and firm and loud and you’re quiet and small in your own way. But it works, and James is so glad it does.
“How was work, lovely?” He says into your hair. Your hair, which smells like coconut and something sweeter.
“It was okay.” Your voice is quiet but you sound just as pleased as he does to be wrapped in each other’s arms. “Lily says good luck.”
“Hey!” This is Sirius, jogging towards the stands and the, for want of a better word, lovefest. “Why don’t I ever get hugs like that?”
James releases you but keeps a good hold on your waist, twisting to meet Sirius. “What? You want one too, Pads?”
He lets go of you and holds his arms out for a hug, half joking but also half serious.
“Not from you!” Sirius scoffs, backing away from James like his hug will give him an incurable disease. “From your pretty cheerleader over there.”
Sirius plants his hands in his hips and nods his head towards you where you’re standing behind James. James doesn’t need to look to know Sirius has probably made you embarrassed.
“She doesn’t want to hug you,” he says dryly, in an attempt to save you from his obnoxious friend. “Where’s your boyfriend? You can hug him instead.”
Sirius scowls but it doesn’t last long. You brush past James and it takes him a second to realise what’s happening.
“I’ll hug you, Sirius,” you’re saying sweetly. “C’mere.”
And to everyone’s surprise, you hug Sirius. James finds it both endearing and highly annoying. Annoying because Sirius is smirking at him over your shoulder, his hands on your lower back. Endearing because it’s apparent you’re trying to make friends with James’ friends and he couldn’t be happier. The hug doesn’t last quite as long as yours and his, though. And Sirius doesn’t quite lift you off the ground like James did.
James watches, reluctantly fond, as Sirius pulls away and smiles at you all kind and un-Sirius-like.
“Thank you, m’lovely,” he says, swooping down to kiss your cheek. James shouldn’t feel jealous, because Sirius kisses everyone on the cheek, but he does anyway.
His jealousy quickly fades when you practically skip back over to him, all smiles.
“Sorry about him,” James says quickly. He’s very used to apologising for his friends.
“No, that’s okay,” you shake your head and then take James’ forearm in your hand unthinkingly. Heat licks all up James’ arm.
“Y/N,” he says, sounding more confident than he feels. “Do you—?”
The shriek of his coach’s whistle cuts him off. Time to get back on the field, it says. James groans, long suffering, throwing his head back like he’s been resigned to the worst fate in the world. You giggle and it makes it all better.
James’ team loses the game. It’s embarrassing and then it’s not, because you bound up to him afterwards and give him a hug even better than the one at half time, gushing about how good he was, telling him it doesn’t matter that he lost because he played amazing, anyway.
He sure feels like a winner as he walks with you to the parking lot, his duffel bag swept to his wrong side so he can walk as close to you as possible.
“I didn’t know you were so good.” You’re still gushing and James thinks he’s never blushed more in his life. “I mean, not that I didn’t expect it. You just never told me.”
“Yeah, well, I’m not Sirius,” James murmurs, feeling overly feverish.
“What? What’s that mean?”
James gestures vaguely with his hands. “I don’t go around bragging, is what it means. And I’m not that good. We’re just a local team, babe.”
It’s your turn to flush. Head to foot you go all shy. He thinks it’s the pet name that did it. And maybe the fact that he’s pointed out your gushing.
“Right,” you say to your shoes. “Well, I think you should play for the country, is all I’m saying.”
James laughs, delighted and a bit startled at your joking, but mostly just sick as a dog in love with you. “Really? Wow, you should tell my coach that, sweetheart. I think he’d totally agree.”
You pick up on his sarcasm and burst into giggles that make James’ chest want to explode. He realizes you’ve almost reached his car and puts his plan into action.
“Hey, did you drive here?” He asks.
You look up at him and James thinks he sees an inkling of hope in your pretty eyes. “No, I caught the bus. Why?”
“Did you want to go get Slurpees with me? I saw a 7/11 near your place the other night.” Then, because he really wants you to say yes, “I’m paying.”
Maybe it’s James’ wishful thinking but he’s pretty sure you light up like a Christmas tree. He really thinks if you keep doing things like this his head is gonna get too big for his body. You beam, looking like an angel on earth in the last fragments of sunlight, skin painted in an array of bleeding golds and pinks and oranges.
“Yeah, okay,” you nod. “Except you don’t have to pay for me, James, I have my card.”
James shakes his head, grinning as he fishes his keys from his bag. “Nah, don’t worry. Pretty girls get slurpees for free.”
He’s ninety-eight percent sure you freeze up like a block of ice as he unlocks his car. He has the generosity to not mention it.
The drive to the 7/11 closest to your place is quiet. But good quiet. James puts on the radio and is delighted when you start humming along like he’s not even there, your fingers tapping along the window where you’ve rolled it down, the wind brushing over your pretty face. He can’t quite get enough of you. Even just driving in silence with you feels like cloud nine. He’s enamored. Totally lovelorn. He’s surprised he can even drive straight.
When you get there he parks the car and then tells you to wait so he can open your door for you. He holds your hand to guide you into the 7/11. It feels like walking on air.
You both greet the guy at the cashier, you much more shyly, but James is learning you’re nothing if not polite. It’s practically empty inside, which James is glad for. How is he supposed to kiss you if there’s a bunch of strangers around? He leads you over to the slurpee machine with the excitement of a kid in a candy store.
“What flavour do you feel like?” He asks, grabbing a cup for you.
“Um,” you lick your lips and James wonders, not for the first time, how it would be to kiss them. “Grape, I think.”
“Grape?” He wrinkles his nose in pretense. “I’m more of a cherry guy, but I’ll let it slide ‘cos I like you.”
You giggle and flush, to James' extreme delight. He lets go of your hand to fill your cup for you, all the way to the top. He pops on a lid and a straw and passes it to you, cold condensation dripping over his fingers like raindrops.
“Thank you,” you say softly, taking the cup from him, your fingers soft as they brush his.
James gives you a big smile in place of a you’re welcome, then preoccupies himself with filling his own cup. He can feel your eyes on him all the while. Practically burning holes into the side of his face. His face, which feels like it’s on fire. He finishes filling his cup and shoves a lid on.
“Have I got something on my face?” He asks without looking at you, definitely teasing but he thinks you can take it.
You groan and punch him in the arm. Punch isn’t really the right word. It’s more of a brush of your knuckles. James hardly feels a thing. “James.”
James laughs, delighted at your reaction. “What?” He chuckles, picking a straw and turning to look at you. “You were—“
But you’re gone, turning into the candy section just in time for James to see the back of your jacket disappear. He follows you, grinning like mad.
“Y/N,” he says, sing-song.
“James,” you copy, with half the enthusiasm but twice the sweetness. He can almost hear you rolling your eyes.
James can’t help it, he snags your jacket in his fingers and pulls. You squeal as he twists you to face him, his hand coming to hook around your waist. Your slurpees get crushed in between your chests. James can feel the coldness of his soaking into his shirt but he hardly cares. You’re so close he could kiss you. He’d like to. It’s what he’s been trying to do all evening.
You’re gasping, breathless from the closeness and his sudden attack. “James,” you say again, panting. “What are you doing?”
James shrugs. “Nuthin’. Did you want some candy?”
You swallow and adjust your grip on your cup where it’s pressed to his chest. You’re staring at his lips. He’s staring at yours, too.
“No,” you say, your pretty eyes flickering from his eyes to his mouth and back again. “I don’t want candy.”
James licks his lips, partly because he thinks he’s about to kiss you, but mostly to tease you. “Then what do you want?”
Your eyes follow the slow movement of his tongue. “Um.”
“Do you want me to kiss you?” He asks, softer now. Less taunting. More sincere.
You stare at him. “We’re in the middle of a 7/11, James,” you chastise. But you don’t turn him down.
“So? There’s no one in here but us.”
He inches closer. His slurpee is probably spilling over with how much he’s squashing it but he can’t bring himself to check. He’s too transfixed by you, the hopeful look on your pretty features, eyes blown wide, lips slightly parted.
“Okay,” you breathe, hardly a word at all.
“Okay, what?” James says back, just as quiet. “I can kiss you?”
“Yes,” you nod once. Your hand ghosts over James’ elbow and he hopes you’ll grab it when he does finally kiss you. “Please.”
It doesn’t take much more convincing than that. He kisses you, and the very first thing he thinks is that he’s bitten off more than he can chew. Thrown himself in the deep end, chum for the sharks. Because it’s glorious. It’s better than he ever imagined, better than anything he could’ve conjured up in his mind. You taste like grape slurpee, sugary and sweet. You’re tentative like you always are, but it doesn’t mean you hold back. You let him kiss you as hard as he pleases, tilting your head up to meet him, gripping his elbow with your free hand like you never want to let go.
He kisses you firm but careful, passionate so you know how much he likes you but soft enough so you know he’s okay to go slow if you need to.
Soon enough the moment is ruined — James shouldn’t have expected anything less. The guy at the cashier is wondering aloud if James is planning on ever paying for the Slurpees now dripping condensation into both of your clothes and hands.
James sighs and goes to pull out his wallet, but not before pressing another kiss to your smiling mouth.

Hellooo how about a Minho x she/her reader where Minho has been hit by the lightning and hs the scars and one day Reader walks on Minho being half naked and she traces his scars and theres tension building up ;) THANK YOU
I love lightning scars Minho so absolutely.
This is a relatively new request, but I'm trying to get some of the easier ones done since I'm currently away.
And I just liked this idea.
SPARKS

MASTERLIST | MINHO MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: See above. After TDC in the Safe Haven. You're a Right Arm member because I just like the idea.
WARNINGS: Inappropriate language, spice, typical dumb horny teenage bullshit. That's it, really.
Tumblr media
You're a member of the Right Arm.
You're not high-ranking or necessarily special. You just ended up tagging along after Vince came through the refugee camp you were staying at.
But that doesn't mean you don't do anything. You're bold and forward, and you went through life-risking measures to help WICKED's Subjects escape.
Because, well, everyone did.
That doesn't matter now, though. They're safe, you're safe - everyone is safe and everything is okay.
Well, kind of.
Trauma doesn't just vanish. But, people are getting on with their lives.
And so are you.
You've ended up befriending some of the Gladers. Originally, you were friends with Harriet and Sonya since they'd been around a while - and they introduced you to the boys. So, you've got your own little friendship group now.
You're particularly close to Frypan and have some friendly competition with Gally. But you like them all the same.
Well...
Almost.
You don't know what it is about Minho that has you in such a chokehold. Sure, maybe if you were some innocent girl from a Maze who didn't know how to act around boys, it would make sense. But you're not.
You've survived the Scorch and the land outside of the remainder of society. It's not like Minho is the first person you've ever been attracted to either. So, why does he make you feel like this?
Apart from the fact he is undeniably attractive.
You figure it's just dumb surface level physical attraction. And with nothing else better to do, you decide to test the waters a bit.
Glancing at him across the table as the bonfire dances and his friends chat, often meeting each other's gaze. He holds it longer than he should. He always does.
Always standing or sitting next to him; your arms or your knees brushing as neither of you make any effort to grow the distance between you.
Playful inside jokes that often have subtle suggestive undertones. Normally, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it style that the other Gladers brush off or don't notice. This results in Minho smirking into his chosen beverage, drinking up your figure out of the corner of his eye.
It goes on like this for a while; just being in the same friend group with some subtle flirtations going on. It's actually kind of fun and a much needed way to relax.
But it doesn't actually go much further than that. And you're fine with that.
For a while.
The jokes start becoming more explicit. The eye contact becoming less subtle. The closeness becoming drunken dancing instead of just standing together.
People are starting to notice.
The dumb attraction is starting to become actual feelings. He's brave and strong and funny and everything you want - and it's just making the sexual tension thicker.
God - it's getting bad. Anyone and everyone in a room with you two would be able to feel it.
The Gladers often tease Minho about it, talking about how he's one wrong move away from ripping your clothes off and cracking where he stands.
It's taking a lot of resilience from the both of you. Especially since you're both stubborn - it's become a silent game of who will crumble first.
"Hey, (Y/N)!" You're currently sorting out bedding and hauling different types of sleeping arrangements around camp. With Gally being put in charge of the Builders now, the huts are being thrown up like there's no tomorrow.
The Gladers and other Maze Subjects got the first available buildings, along with high up Right Arm members. You don't really mind, to be fair, you enjoy the hammocks and are happy to help the Gladers.
But as Thomas shouts you, you groan, turning around, blankets threatening to spill out of your hold. "Hey, Thomas. You good?"
"Yeah," something seems off about him as he fiddles with the hem of his shirt, "I know you're already busy, but could you check on Minho for me?"
"Huh?" You tilt your head, concern immediately setting in. "Why? Is something wrong?"
"Uh," Thomas did not think this far ahead of his dumb plan. "Well, we just haven't seen him all day - seems kinda down. Figured you'd be the best person to speak to him."
This perplexes you. "Why me? You guys are closer."
And you could've sworn you'd seen Gally and Minho shoving each other about earlier today. Though, maybe you're just mixing up your days.
"Yeah, but he likes you, so..." You pause, farrowing your brows. He likes you? In what context? Like you know that he likes you. But... like, more than just the dumb flirting?
You shake it off. "Alright, gimme a second."
You dump the bedding off where it needs to be and make a beeline for Minho's hut.
Little do you know that Minho has just gotten out of the shower - and is completely fine. Thomas and Frypan decided they'd had enough of enduring the tension between you and this is the result that.
Reaching the door, it's slightly ajar, and in your concerned state, you, for some reason, decide not to knock.
"Hey, Minho, are you-?" You push open the door and immediately freeze.
Well, shit.
Minho stands with his back to you, loose sweatpants hanging off of his hips and he's without a shirt. He rubs his hair with a towel, freezing at your voice and turning slightly to look at you.
Which would be less awkward if you weren't in some kind of trance.
Minho is tall and muscular, and he doesn't have to be half naked for you to be aware of that. But, that's not what's stands out.
All over his upper body, mainly populating his back, are pinkish lines. They travel down his spine and split like webs across his back, some whisps creeping across his sides and grazing his front.
"You just gonna stare or ask me about it?" Minho says after a good few seconds pass.
What do you even ask?
"Uh, what... why..?" You trail off and Minho raises his eyebrow before scoffing.
"I got hit by lightning." He states matter-of-factly. "Ended up giving me some scars."
"When did that happen?"
"Out in the Scorch, just before we met Brenda and Jorge."
"And you never mentioned this?"
"Well, it didn't seem like a big deal," he smirks. "And I'm kinda enjoying the look on your face."
This kind of snaps you back into reality. You're here for a reason.
You clear you throat, closing the door behind you for more privacy just in case the ex-Runner is on the verge of a meltdown. "Are you... alright?"
"Uh, yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Minho is growing more concerned by the second. What is happening here?
"Well, Thomas said that something was wrong and asked me to talk to you."
Minho scoffs, putting the dots together and slowly nodding his head before rubbing his face with his hands. "Did he, now? Shuckin' slinthead. I knew they were up to something."
"Huh?"
"They're messing with you - us, even."
"Huh? Why would- oh! Oh."
Ah. That makes more sense. And is mildly mortifying.
"Yeah." Minho shakes his head, turning away from you again as he mumbles to himself. "Sorry, my friends are dicks."
"It's uh, fine. It's fine."
Your gaze falls back on Minho's chiselled form. He's practically mouth-watering.
And it's not like this is weird. You've been pushing each other's boundaries since day one. This could be another opportunity to see how far you can take things. I mean, he would if this were the other way around. So, with a sudden peak in confidence, you walk over.
Minho chucks his towel on his bed. "So, are you-?"
Minho doesn't even get the chance to finish his question as electricity sparks through him. Again. This time, not because he's nearly dying, but because your fingers graze his back.
His entire body stills, his mind immediately becoming foggy, and the hair on his arms stands on end.
"Do they still hurt?" You ask, your gaze focused on his skin and your voice low.
You're gentle in your moments, letting your fingertips barely tickle his flesh. But with the immediate and tense reaction, you're reminded that Minho is about as touch-straved as someone can get.
He's just good at hiding it.
"Uh, no, not really. They kinda feel weird sometimes, and I was really buggin' out about them when I first noticed them. But I guess I had bigger klunk on my plate." He tries to maintain his composure, but his voice wavers at several points.
You bring your hand higher, dancing across his spine and between his shoulder blades.
"Why were you buggin' out?" You've grown somewhat used to the Glader way of speaking.
He hesitates for a second, physically jumping when your other hand joins in, using your thumb to rub circles and pull at the scars threating to escape to his middrift.
"Well, I uh- shit," he mumbles the cuss word, stepping back more and into your touch, letting his head fall back. "I just... they just look weird, yanno?"
"I think they look hot."
Okay, you're becoming very bold.
"Hm? You think I look hot?" He asks, half-looking over his shoulder at you, not wanting to fully turn around and lose the feeling.
"That's not what I said."
"That's what I'm askin'."
You blink at him, watching his lopsided smile creep across his face.
In a game of confidence - Minho will always win.
Which means trying to play it cool.
"I just think scars are interesting, they tell a story."
"Do you go around touching everyone's scars, then?" He cracks a wicked grin you can't see as he turns his head away again. "That might get you in a bit of trouble around here."
"Yeah, but not with you." It actually is genuinely fun tracing the patterns in his skin. You have one hand following one path and the other following a different one.
"Oh, yeah? How do you know that?"
"Because you like it."
He peers at you again, his face suddenly serious and his tone lower than before. "You're really starting to push it, yanno that?"
"Push what?" You tilt your head, pretending to play innocent.
"You know what."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"So, you're just feeling me up because you think my scars are hot?" He scoffs. "That's what's happening here?"
You think for a second. Fuck it. "Yep."
"Well, there's more scars if you wanna touch them?"
Your eyes flicker to his face, letting your arms fall from his skin. He turns around, holding his hands behind his back, he rocks on his heels.
From his back, travelling to his front are smaller webs of the scarring. At first glance, you thought they only reached around his sides, but now you're realising there's thinner, less noticeable branches trailing across his abs.
He presses his lips into a thin line, almost like he's calling your bluff. Because this is the game you've been playing. Pushing each other. And you've pushed him so he's pushing you.
Though, this very well might end up being the breaking point.
Too stubborn to back down, your hand connects with his stomach area. He flinches, but very quickly relaxes again. You gently run your fingers across the lines and the curves of not only the remains of the electricity, but of just his body.
Your eyes flicker to his face as you expect him to make some cocky comment about how that's not a scar. But he doesn't. His eyes are fixated on your hand.
It's a feeling he's never really experienced before - watching someone enjoy him. Someone touch him with such care. With such want. Someone touching him like this at all is new.
And it's you.
You're the one touching him.
You.
And that's making it so much worse.
He doesn't make any effort to hide or stop the tightening sensation in his pants or the way his chest is rising and falling. His mind is falling into complete fog; he feels like he's taken something he probably shouldn't have.
You notice it, too.
"Minho-?"
"Shut up," he says almost immediately, eyes finally meeting yours. His pupils are wide and his eyelids heavy. "This... this isn't fair. You can't..."
He seems a strange mix of stressed and turned on.
"Okay, I'll stop," you pull your hand away, but he immediately grabs it, laying it flat against his middrift. "Minho?"
"Don't," he mumbles. "Don't stop." He can't look at you properly.
God, what's happening to him?
"Look," he continues, trying to gain some sort of clarity for a second. "If you're just messing around, that's fine, but leave now, okay? 'Cause this is getting cruel."
His words and the way he's acting is sending heat straight to your core. You step towards him, your faces inches apart.
"Are you caving, Minho?" Your voice is sultry as your hand slides further down his front.
"Are you?" He responds, leaning in further, your noses brush and you can feel his breath on your face.
"We can't keep doing this, yanno? One of us has to break eventually." You mumble, practically into his lips.
His eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips.
"Shuck it," his hands come to your waist, yanking you closer as he finally kisses you. You squeak from the force behind it as you throw you arms around his neck, clawing into his back to try and steady yourself.
It takes a matter of seconds for Minho to spin you around, pushing you onto the bed, both of you tangling together. Desperation sets in fairly quickly.
Minho's hands under your shirt as you try to pull it over your head. His lips on your neck and chest as he slips a hand under you, trying to yank your jeans down. You leave stains on his skin from your nails.
It's a blur of emotion and hormones.
Then Minho hesitates as he sits back. At first, you think he's just admiring you as you lay in your underwear, but there's something else.
"You good?" You ask, becoming concerned.
"You know we're not gonna be friends anymore if we do this, right? Like the flirting and klunk is fun, but this is different. We can't take this back. A-and I've never done this before. I don't wanna shuck up our friendship or make things weird."
You blink at him before sitting up. He watches you as you move onto your knees and kiss him again.
"I don't wanna be your damn friend, Minho. Take the hint."
It's like there's a light behind his eyes, a smile creeping across his face, but unlike his usual cocky smirk, it's soft and warm and genuine.
He pecks your lips. It's sweet and unusual for him. "You wanna be more than friends, then?"
"Yeah," you chuckle, "but I'm sure we can worry about that later. We're a bit busy right now." You wrap your arms around his neck again, lightly touching the scars on his back. He grins at you, connecting your lips again as he pushes you down.
He pulls away, his teeth brushing your ear lobe as he lets out a low chuckle.
"Sounds like a good plan."

Here ya go, another spicey Minho piece for y'all.
I hope you enjoyed :))

Finnick Odair x fem!victor!reader
Y/f/n sat on the train. She had won the 74th hunger games, a very brutal game. She had almost died, a fatal attack to her chest. If it was three millimeters to the left, it would have killed her.
She was on tour, going to every district to speak. She was given a script, written by her mentors Finnick and Mags. It was very boring but it made her look professional.
Y/n hadn't spoken outside of her speech's. She'd go to the district, talk, and go back to the train and sit. Everyone was very patient with the young girl, all of them understanding what she had gone through. Although Finnick and Mags had difficult games, they knew hers was atleast ten times worse.
She stared at her hands, her nails were done and her hands looked soft. Thanks to the Capitol -- thanks to President Snow -- she was taken care of. All of her cuts and bruises were healed, she looked gorgeous. Her makeup was done everyday and she had a brand new wardrobe and thousands of dollars. She was the Capitols favorite.
Finnick walked up to the girl. His steps were careful, almost like he was scared she'd snap. He sat next to her. "We're almost to District 7, you ready?" He spoke soft and slowly so she could understand him. She had lost all her hearing in her left ear.
Y/n nodded and looked up at him. For he first time, since she had won, he saw her eyes. Her gorgeous eyes. There was a harsh scar going from the top of her eyebrow to her cheek, part of her right eye obviously damaged but it somehow made her look beautiful.
Finnick stood up and held out a hand for her. Y/n placed hers on it and stood up. He didn't let go of her hand as they walked from the back of the train to the front. Right as they got to the front, they arrived to District 7.
There were siblings from this district. They had risked their lives to save y/n. Something she'd never forget. She already had tears in her eyes as she slowly walked into the District. People were cheering for her and waving. She let go of Finnicks had when she finally made it to behind the stage. There was a curtain covering where she was standing.
"Remember, your script," a lady told her and pushed her out of the curtain.
The 17 year old girl froze. She looked at the large groups of people who were all looking back at her. Then up at the families of the two siblings.
"I... I knew Cash and Harriet very well," y/n said. She decided to ignore her script and say what she felt. "They had saved me. Harriet... She was just. She was so selfless and caring and strong. And... And I tried to save her, but I couldn't," Y/ns voice started to crack and a single tear fell down her cheek. "Cash was so full of love and he adored his older sister. He had nothing but good things to say about his family. It's not fair... It's not fair that they weren't the ones that won."
At this point, y/n couldn't stop her tears. "They were loyal and amazing kids and I'll never forget them. No one should." Y/n couldn't look at the family any longer. "I'm sorry I couldn't save them, I wish it was them giving a speech instead of me. Thank you," she quickly said before hurrying off.
Mags tried to comfort the girl but y/n just shook her head and sobbed as she was walked back to the train. Finnick had a hand on her back, guiding her.
"You're alright, honey. You're alright," he whispered, keeping her away from the photographers who were following them. "Hey! Back off!" He shouted at one of them who had stood right in front of them.
He made sure no one was getting a picture of the distraught victor as they hurried to the train. Once they were all inside, y/n rushed away and into the bathroom, locking herself inside.
"I can't do this, I can't do this, I can't do this," she whispered repeatedly as she sat on the floor. She sat there until she stopped crying. Y/n stood up and looked in the mirror. Her makeup was fortunately water proof so none of it was ruined but her eyes were red and her head was pounding.
Finally someone knocked on the door. It was Finnick. "Y/n... Are you okay?" He asked.
She opened the door and saw the man. He held his arms open for her and let her fall into them. She didn't cry, she just stood there. Her arms wrapped around his waist, her hands holding onto the back of his shirt.
"You're alright, honey. You tried to save them, it's not your fault."
Finnick hugged the girl till the sunset, promising to keep her safe. To always keep her safe.

Beyond the Walls (Gally x Female! Reader)
Masterlist
Chapter Warings: Language, Violence, Death, Use of Y/N
Chapter 1: Introduction
I stood at the gates of the maze with Harriet and Sonya waiting for the walls to open.
“To tell you both the truth, I’m ready to get out of this icy hell.”  I told the girls with a little laugh. Looking around the spring, seeing girls get up to get ready to go to work.
“Us too.” Harriet said back to me, rubbing her hands together.
“Well, look at this way we do get another girl today.” Sonya interjected with her joyful glee she always seems to have.
“Well, a newbie for Ximena to welcome into our lovely Spring.” I said sarcastically and tightened my laces. The gates start to open, and I turn to the girls standing next to me. “I’ll see y’all later.”
“Stay safe” They yell at me as I take off down the corridor.
(7 hours)
“Hey, let me go” I yelled as men dressed in all black clothing carried me away. I had just found a way out and when they came out of nowhere to grab me. They put me in an all-white room, reminding me of when it snows in the Spring.
“Hello Y/N. Do you know who I am?” A woman much older than me in all white asked me. She was a little taller than me with blonde hair and a few wrinkles in her face. Her skin is fair with some color in her cheeks. Her hair was pulled back tight making her round face pull back with it.
“Should I?” I asked.
“No, you should not. But you found a way out faster than we planned.” She sat down in a chair across from me. “And we can’t have you go back in. So, we are going to put you through another test while we wait.” she told you with a smile. A smile I didn’t like, one that told me that the ‘test’ wasn’t going to be one that I’ll like.
“What is tha-” I started before I felt a prick in the side of my neck, and everything went black. When I awoke, I was in the hottest place I ever remember being in. Looking around all I see is sand, blue sky with a hot sun, and what looked like a building in the distance. “Well, this is different.” I said to myself, I put my hands in my pockets to find a piece of paper. ‘Survive. Find Safe Haven.’ is all that is written on it. Great.
Time skip (A week)
“Come on this way.” A man told me leading me down a tunnel underground. I had been in what these people have been calling the Scorch for about a week before these men found me. And decided that I was worth keeping after I was able to steal from them without them noticing, and that I was from WCKD.
“Lawrence, we found this WCKD Immune walking around the scorch. What should we do with her?” The man said, not mentioning I easily steal from them. Another man stood next to a plant that held flowers. The man turned to me showing that he didn’t have part of his nose. He stared me up and down, thinking.
“We could sell her back to WCKD. Bet they pay good money for an immune.” The man told the man who found me. No. I’m not going back to those people ever, if I go back terrible thing will happen.
“Or I can help you. I used to do the maze and I was also a medic in my maze. I’m one hell of a problem solver and a great negotiator. I can do anything you give me and help any way I can. Plus, I stole from your man without them noticing” I said quickly to not be sold back the WCKD. “Something this guy forgot to mention, probably to save his humility.” Both heads quickly turn to me then they look at each other.
“Why were you in the Scorch by yourself?” The man asked me as he waved to me to come closer with his hand.
“I found my way out of the maze quicker than WCKD intended. They didn’t know what to do with me, so they stuck me in the middle of that waist land and told me to find a way. That was it. I wanted to go back for my friends, but they grabbed me before I could do so. Guessing so I couldn’t go and get the rest of them out, ruining whatever plans they have.” I explain to them.
“We keep her. Train her. She is going to become a great aspect to our cause.” He said, giving me a small smile. “She is not afraid to stand up and talk. We can use that to make alliances. She may also be able to help us with WCKD compounds.” He went back to his roses. “Jasper, get her a place to rest and new clothes.” the man nodded at me to follow him. “What’s your name sweetheart?” He asked me.
“Y/N.” I stopped and turned to him.
“Welcome to our world Y/N. You can call me Lawerence.”
“Thank you.” I gave Lawrence a nod before going back to following the man named Jasper.
Time Skip (4 months)
“Okay, this should be Maze Trial A. An all-boys group, from what we have gathered, they escaped just a few days ago. So, the compound should be abandoned.” I told my group as we got out of our vehicles. “What we are here for is information we can use, and any weapons left behind. But stay sharp. We don't know if WCKD has put any hidden sensors or anything like that.” We open the door with our guns ready. Walking in I see two bodies on the ground. The first one I came to was a boy no older than 14 years old, curly hair and a round face. God why does it have to be the younger ones. I pulled my mask off after feeling his pulse looking at the gunshot wound in his chest. His skin was cold and the was no pulse, not even a shallow one. “He's gone.” I told them moving to the older blonde headed looking boy, who looked to be my age. I hear a few curses from the men towards WCKD as I walk over to the other boy. He had a spear in his chest. Checking his pulse, I could feel a very light pulse. “He’s not thought. I need help over here, we got a live one.” I yelled out.
“Y/N he’s not going to make it.” The other medic of the group tells me.
“We need to save him, if he's immune. He’s worth saving.” I told him. “I need everyone else to spread out and search the compound. We move out in 30.” I yell out to everyone else as we get to work on the boy. Slowly getting him back stable and the spear out of him. That's when I notice his vines and start searching, seeing a needle looking thing next to me. “Hey, he’s been stung. I need the antidote.” I yell out, and he starts to shake. He gains some sort of consciousness back as he opens his eyes up some, looking at the other medic before looking at me. We lock eyes I give him a small smile. “Don’t worry we got you.” I told him as his eyes closed.
Time Skip (A few days)
I sat in my living area, being of a higher rank gives me a better space. Being a good friend to Lawrence gives me an even better space. I’m going over the files that were collected from our Maze A mission. Information left behind was more than we expected as WCKD usually wipe everything. I guess they didn’t have time to wipe everything, just the info on the test subjects that were being held and tested in the maze. I was focused on the task at hand when I hear a cough coming from my sleeping space. As I was the one that wanted to save the boy, I had to be the one to take care of him. One of the rules made by Lawrence. Getting up I walk over to see him already sitting up in my makeshift bed.
“How are you feeling stick?” I asked. The boy immediately jumped up and looked at me. Getting into a fighting like stance.
“Who are you, where am I, and how did I get here?” he questioned. I put my hand up to stop him.
“My name is Y/N. You're in my apartment, in a safe compound just outside the last city. We saved you from WCKD compound Maze A, a few days ago and brought you here to heal. And just so you know we are not WCKD nor selling you back.” I told him, walking farther into the room.
“How can I trust you?” He asked angrily standing up, walking towards me and towering over me. Something I didn’t take too kindly to, but it was kind of hot. Well, I can emit that the boy is a little cute.
“Because WCKD decided that they were going to take me. A female who spent the time of her life that she could remember in a frozen hell and throw her into the middle of the desert. Just because she finished one of their trials too quickly. The same female who saved you after the other medic in her group told her that it might not be worth it. That same female who gave you her bed to recover in, has been watching over you and who’s been changing your bandages for the past few days.” I say to him before turning around to walk out of the room. “You’ll meet with Lawrence in an hour, he is the boss around here. And you're welcome for saving your life.” I said as I walked away. “Oh, your new clothes are on the chair.” I called behind my shoulder. I told someone to inform Lawrence that the boy was awake.
A few minutes later the boy walks out now dressed in black pants and a gray hoodie. And if I was to tell you the truth, the boy is cute. With his short but not shaved hair and warm brown eyes. He was skinny but still built, most likely from the food WCKD gave them to eat. “You hungry?” I asked and all he does is nodded his head. I get up heading to my small kitchen, as he follows me. I make him a plain meat and cheese sandwich and he quickly eats it. Making me have a small smile which he gives back.
“Um…” he starts getting my attention. “You said something about WCKD, were you a part of it at some point?” He questions as I sit across from him at the small table.
“I’ll tell you, but you have to tell me your name first.” I told him.
“Gally.” He said very quickly as I chuckled at it.
“Hello Gally. Well, I’m just like you, a test subject of WCKD. I was put into a maze to be tested on. I got out too early and so they put me in the middle of the desert.”
“You said you came from a frozen hell. The maze I was in  wasn’t frozen, and it was all boys. Well, we were all boys until.” he cut himself off.
“They made our maze different. Yours was more of a heat and humidity type environment. Mine was cold and icy. I mean we had to use ice skates instead of running the maze because it was just covered in ice. They probably did it to see which environment worked better for whatever they were needing it for.”
“And then were you all girls or?”
“We were all girls, when I was there.” I replied as there was a knock on my door. “That's the cue. Time to find out your fate Gally.” I told him with a smile as I walked him to where Lawrence was. “You’ll be fine. And don’t stare.” I said with a smile, and he just looked at me confuse before walking in.

Tumblr media
"Yeah, that looks good." Harriet adjusts your grip on the gun slightly.
You've watched your friends shoot guns for months now, and you're pretty familiar with the movements and everything.
"Do I just shoot now?"
She nods. "Watch out for the kickback though, it's gonna recoil."
You hone in your gaze on the target, a piece of paper taped over a dead tree, and pull the trigger.
The bullet slices through the paper, ending up embedded in the tree bark.
Vince nods appreciatively. "Not bad; not bad at all. We could make a real fighter out of you."
You glow with the praise, turning to where your friends are grinning supportively, Frypan holding up a thumbs up.
"Nice shot, Y/n," calls Thomas.
You continue with shooting practice until your hands are sore, and then you break for lunch.
You sit with Thomas, Newt, and Frypan on the floor in an abandoned building, eating spaghetti right out of the can.
"What's the plan for today?" asks Thomas through a mouthful of food.
"We should be getting to the new base by today. It's gonna be a temporary setup, just for a year at the most."
"Then we get Minho?" you ask.
"Yeah," responds Vince. "Then we get Minho."
⭒----⭒
Months later, you plan and enact a rescue mission for Minho, which fails.
You sit on your bed, hopeless, as you lean your head into your hands.
"Thomas, we can't wait another six months," you say.
It's just the two of you, sitting in the empty sleeping room.
"I know," he says quietly. "I'm leaving tonight."
"So you know I'm coming with you?"
"Yeah, I know," his grin glows in the fading light, and you stand to pack your things.
⭒----⭒
Newt and Frypan end up coming on the mission, and you're joined by Brenda and Jorge as you start towards the Last City.
You see Gally again, who'd always looked out for you like a little sister.
"Y/n," he says in shock, the first time you hold up your gun.
"You taught her to shoot?" he whirls around to Thomas, staring accusingly.
"She's old enough to fight, and strong enough to make her own decisions," retorts Thomas.
"Guys," you interrupt exasperatedly. "Let's just find a way in, so we can get Minho."
⭒----⭒
All of that leads you to now.
"Minho!" you shout, ducking around doors looking for him.
"Y/n, over here!" Newt's voice calls from behind you.
You run over and see Thomas and Newt, and Minho.
A sob catches in your throat as you sprint up to him and leap into his arms.
"Hey," he says, giving you a grin. "Long time no see."
"Idiot," you respond, punching him in the arm.
He takes you in fully, eyes sweeping over the combat gear you're dressed in, and the gun and knife strapped to your hip.
You wait for him to berate you for coming, for being too young and too small to fight.
It never comes.
"Guess you're a warrior now, huh?" he says, giving you a small smile.
You grin back, but the moment is interrupted as the WCKD soldiers find you again.
"In here!" yells Thomas, and you all stumble into the little storeroom.
You stand back as Newt and Minho barricade the door.
"Alright, anyone got any ideas," asks Newt.
"Yeah," says Thomas, staring ominously down through the window.
You step up and see a pool of water down below, and let out a sigh. "We're gonna die," you say matter-of-factly.
"Yep," agrees Minho.
They smash a gas canister through the window, and you grab Minho's hand as you step up to the edge.
There's a loud bang as Janson's team crashes through the door. "Jump!" yells Thomas.
You leap away from the building, wind roaring in your ears as the ground gets closer, and you hit the water feet first with a smash.
⭒----⭒
You look on in concern and fear as Thomas helps Newt down inside a burning convenience store, away from the fighting rebels.
"We need to get the cure," says Thomas, gazing at his friend worriedly.
"I'll run ahead," responds Minho. "Gally can cover me."
Thomas nods. "Go."
"No," you interrupt, standing up. "We all know that cure's not gonna work. We need Teresa, and it has to be Thomas' blood."
"We can't drag 'im back there," says Minho, and you remember that he's been tortured by WCKD for months. He looks exhausted.
You shake your head. "I'll go alone. No one will stop me." You gesture to yourself. "Just a kid, right? I'll get the cure from Teresa and meet you where Brenda and Vince are."
A chorus of objections rise against you.
"Are you kidding?"
"No way, Y/n."
"Guys," you say, frustrated. "Newt's not gonna make it if we just send Minho and Gally. And Cranks are strong. When Newt Cranks out, and he will, Thomas and I will be dead first."
"I come with; I'll cover you," says Minho finally.
"What?" exclaims Thomas. "Why're you letting her do this?"
"You're the one who let her come in the first place," challenges Minho.
"No one is 'letting' me do anything," you interject.
"Hey!" calls Gally. "You better just go. We're wasting time here. I'll stay with Thomas; if Newt Cranks out, we can hold him off until you two get back."
Minho grabs Gally's walkie so you can communicate, and the two of you leave.
You run in front of him, setting the pace since you both know he'd be sprinting ahead of you.
You try and almost succeed at sweettalking your way around Ava, until she's shot by Janson.
You don't hesitate; you shoot him in the foot and run with Minho until you find Teresa.
She's bent over a microscope, and spins quickly as you and Minho run in.
"The cure," growls Minho, pointing his gun at her.
"It's almost done," says Teresa calmly, reaching for a syringe to transfer a deep blue liquid into a vial.
Minho turns, and you get an idea. "We need a ride, one of the aircraft things."
Teresa nods, expression staying infuriatingly calm. "You'll need someone to pilot it."
"Whatever," says Minho, "Just get us out of here."
As Teresa flies you across the city in a mini air-car, you grab the walkie talkie. "Thomas, you there?"
There's no response.
"Thomas, say something, please."
It takes a few more tries before the other side crackles to life.
"Y/n." Thomas' voice is scratchy and tense, and you can here his heavy breathing. "Have you guys got the cure?"
"Yeah, have you reached Vince?"
"No, listen. You need to come find us. We're in some sort of station. An open area, sheltered. Newt's Cranked out and Gally and I are struggling pretty bad. Please find us. I think- shit!"
"What? What was that? Thomas, are you okay?"
"Listen Y/n, I gotta go. Come find us!" The sound cuts off and you stand there, clutching the walkie and staring as if it'll help your friend.
"They're in some kind of station," you tell Teresa.
"Station..." she says, frowning slightly in thought.
"They said it's an open area, and it's sheltered."
"I think I might know."
Teresa pilots the air-car down and opens the doors, and you and Minho leap out.
"I can hear them!" exclaims Minho, taking off towards the station.
You sprint after them, not caring what Teresa does, and you freeze at the sight of Newt bringing a knife down on Thomas, before Gally jumps in to throw him off.
"Hold him still," you call as Minho jumps into the fight.
You prepare the cure and hold it carefully, waiting as your friends take down Newt, subduing him easily with 3 on 1.
You find Newt's neck and administer the cure, and your friends relax as he sags immediately.
None of you notice when his eyes fly open, still blown black, and he grabs his knife.
Only Thomas realises, and he does too late. "Y/n watch out!"
Newt, still Cranked out, sees you, the person who just injected him in the neck, and swings the knife at you.
As Newt stabs the knife into your side, all you know is pain.
You can only gasp the knife is yanked out and blood streams from your wound, Gally and Thomas grabbing for Newt as Minho dives towards you.
"Nononono, Y/n. No." Minho yanks his jacket off, pressing it to your side, but the blood snakes past, pooling in his hands.
Your gaze slides away, and you watch as Newt wakes up, the cure finally setting in, and his eyes land on you.
"Did I... No. Y/n!"
Your friends crowd around you, Newt cradling your head as Minho and Thomas try to stop the blood from flowing.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to- Y/n, I'm so sorry." He smooths a hand on your hair, and you can feel his tears dripping onto your cheeks.
You can hear Gally yelling desperately into the walkie talkie, and Minho's repeated mutterings of "nonono, please".
"Stay with us, we're so close Y/n. I'm so sorry," Newt's head stays bowed over you, hands only moving to wipe his own tears off your face.
"It's okay," you manage to say. "W- wasn't you."
Newt shakes his head, and you hear Thomas start to shout as the blood doesn't stop.
"Come on!" he yells. "I'm not losing you too, I'm won't."
You feel your eyelids start to grow heavy.
"No!" Newt jolts your head slightly, tapping your face with his thumb. "Stay with us, okay? Just a little longer, please."
" 'm tired," you whisper.
"I know, just keep holding on."
"Hurts."
"I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry." He looks up. "There! Vince is here, Y/n. Everyone's here, they're gonna take care of you. Just please, stay awake a little longer. Promise?"
"Okay."
You're unable to keep your promise, cause the blackness closes in, and your mind shuts off.
⭒----⭒
You awaken slowly, scrunching your eyes against the soft light of your room.
As sit up carefully, your hand comes up to brace against your side. You feel a bandage there, and the skin around it feels healed.
You swing your legs off the bed you're on, and you stand.
You push the hut door open, lifting an arm against the brilliantly bright sun, and you stare at the wide beach ahead of you. Is this the Safe Haven?
You walk out until you see your friends, standing near the beach.
Newt sees you first, a hand coming up to cover his mouth as he points you out, and then everyone's sprinting over.
Minho reaches you first, lifting you into a tight hug.
"Y/n, shuck," he mutters. "We thought we lost you."
"Hey, I'm still a little injured by the way."
Thomas pulls you in next, gentler than Minho, and he bends to look you in the eye. "Never again, okay?"
You huff out a soft laugh. "Never again."
You turn to Newt, who's watching you with half joy, and half regret.
You step up to him and wrap your arms around him, feeling him immediately melt. "If you start apologising, I'm gonna stab you," you warn.
As you're met with silence from everyone, you wince. "Too soon?"
Newt laughs. "Definitely."
After you've hugged and greeted everyone, you look out at community and buildings that have been set up. "This is the Safe Haven?"
Thomas grins at you. "Welcome home."

You touched your cheek feeling the sting of pain. – “Shit!” – you called out. Spitting some blood on the ground. Sonya walked over to you, moving her gun to her back. Her face contracted with sympathetic pain. – “That is for sure going to hurt.” – she said. – “Why did that idiot had to use his gun as a puncher!” – you exclaimed, looking down at the man. – “Well at least have some comfort that he is dead.” – Sonya answered setting her foot on his thigh.
“Yeah, thanks for that.” – you breathed out. – “No worries. Harriet would have my head if something would’ve happened to you.” – she replied patting your shoulder. You laughed quietly putting your own gun away. Sonya moved her arm around you, walking you back to the vehicle. – “I think Harriet will have my head after seeing this.” – you pointed at the wound on your cheekbone.
Sonya shrugging her shoulder. – “Maybe today is a good day to die?” – she laughed getting behind the wheel. You hopped in the seat beside her. Dust flying up from underneath the tires. You kept touching the wound, flinching at the pain. Sonya sighed. – “Will you stop touching it, you probably make it worse with your dirty hands.”
“I don’t have…” – you started looking down at your hands. Grinning sheepishly, you tugged them between your legs under Sonya’s ‘told you so’ glance. Sonya drove the truck back to camp. It didn’t take long before Harriet approach the truck. Stopping in shock at the aftermath on your face. You smiled, the only thing missing was you say ‘tadaa’. – “What the hell happened!” – Harriet looked to Sonya, angered.
Sonya shut the door of the truck hard. – “Some idiot bullet’s ran out so he decided to knock Y/n with his gun.” – Sonya told her. Harriet gaped at you seeing you pull your shoulders up. – “Don’t worry he didn’t lived very long after.” – Sonya said having approached Harriet. Leaving her hand on her shoulder. Sonya looked over her shoulder to you before heading off. You came closer to Harriet, swallowing nervously. – “Sorry…” – you said, eyes down.
Harriet exhaled relieved, wrapping her arms around you. – “I’m just glad you are alive.” – she spoke hugging you tighter. You hugged her back, needing her comfort. – “Come.” – Harriet said, taking your hand. You followed her through the camp.
She seated you down near a bin that contained burning wood for heat. – “I’ll be right back.” – she said leaning down to kiss your forehead. You nodded watching her head into a tent. A moment later she returned with aiding supplies. Presenting them flirtatious to you. You dramatically waved yourself some cool. – “Oh I am so getting spoiled now.” – you teased when Harriet came sitting down in front of you.
“Give me one more heart attack and I won’t be so spoiling anymore.” – she commented sarcastically. – “Then I’ll just have to do it for you.” – you answered with a wink. Harriet rolled her eyes at you. – “This might sting Y/n.” – she let you know, putting some liquid on a tissue. She touched your chin to keep your head in place. You flinched making Harriet lower her hand bothered. – “I haven’t even touched you yet.” – she said.
“I know, I was just preparing.” – you answered. Harriet grabbed your chin firmly wanting to make sure you wouldn’t pull back again. The tissue touched your wound as you bit on your lip, fighting the urge to curs you heart out. – “Told you it would sting.”
“Fffff fuck!” – you blurted, needing to shout something for the pain. Harriet chuckled dapping your wound more. – “You are enjoying this aren’t you?” – you spoke seeing her smile. – “Not at all…” – she answered pressing the tissue deeper onto your wound, making you cringe in pain. – “Okay maybe a little.” – she confessed teasingly with a chuckle. You crossed your arms, finding it anything but funny.
“Oh come on Y/n. I am just playing around.” – she said lowering her hand. She reached down for a bandage. Before she stuck the bandage on your cheek, she kissed you by surprise. You smiled, kissing her back. Harriet grabbed for your shoulder, taking it. You gulped, pulling away at something sticking on your arm. You looked at your shoulder, seeing the bandage stick half on your skin.
Harriet laughed loud apologizing. She took a new bandage sticking it over your wound. – “Now you may once more.” – you told her, gesturing for her to kiss you again. – “Yes please.” – Harriet answered kissing you. Her fingers running through your hair.
Later that night you laid on Harriet’s stomach watching the stary sky. Harriet moving her fingers through your hair. Her other hand on yours that laid on your chest. – “Does it still hurt?” – she asked. You shook your head. Harriet’s fingers going through your hair was so soothing it made you sleepy. – “Harriet.” – you said hearing her hum loud in response. – “I love you.” – you needed to say out loud before you’d fall asleep. – “I love you too Y/n. My survivor girl.” – you laughed at the nickname.
Harriet’s upper body shuddering with laughter as well. You removed your head from her stomach so that she could lay next to you. You snugged up to her, taking a deep breath. Her arms protective over you. – “I’ll always protect you, Y/n.” – she’d whisper. You drifted away, falling asleep from a long day. Harriet kissed your forehead. Enclosing you tighter in her embrace.

congrats on 150!! for your celebration can I please have 🫧 with sirius black + “oh, that’s new”? Maybe reader got a tattoo without telling him and he likes it
thank you for requesting! 🩷 (wc: 664)
Sirius can’t stop staring at you in the sauna towel you’re wearing. You’ve both been in for several minutes now, and you’re relaxing more and more into the wood bench. He’s not sure he’s ever seen your shoulders so far away from your ears, and he’s definitely never seen your hair pulled off your neck the way that it is.
It gives him too much skin to work with, visually speaking. You’re completely free and clear of any curtains, your skin sticky with dew, legs sprawling and bare. The two of you make a happy sight.
As the air thins down, you stretch up and ladle more water over the hot rocks. Sirius watches a bead of sweat race down the back of your neck with rapt attention. He loses sight of it when he spots your tattoo.
“Oh,” he breathes, a strange twisting in his chest, “that’s new, yeah?”
You hum breezily, pouring one more generous scoop onto the hissing stones before giving him your questioning eyes.
“What’s new?” Sirius brings a hand up to absently rub at his own bare nape, and you seem to catch his meaning, sweeping your fingers over it bashfully. “Oh, that. Yeah. You’ve seen it haven’t you?”
He shakes his head no. “When was this?”
“Umm,” you dally. “Like a week and some ago? I wasn’t really planning it at all.”
Sirius watches you carefully, perhaps reading a small bit too far into your rosy flush. The air in the steam room is thick and hot now, thanks to you, which could easily be the cause. Still, you’ve retreated from him slightly, holding your arms nervously over your torso.
“Can I see?” Sirius requests, beckoning you to his side of the room. You oblige him, standing and relocating to the spot on his right.
You face your back to him, pushing away nonexistent baby hairs to clear the view. Sirius tentatively takes your neck under his fingers, holding you still.
It’s worse up close, which is to say dangerous for his health. He can’t believe what he’s looking at.
“You got a star,” he says distantly, not quite trusting his voice to keep steady. A star.
Your head falls forward and Sirius marvels at the way your tattoo stretches, wraps tight over your vertebrae.
“Like I said, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing.”
“Yeah,” he breathes, “right.”
Reluctantly, Sirius peels himself away from you, returning stiffly to the cedar bench. His skin feels alive, thrumming with heat.
You settle back beside Sirius instead of returning to your bench.
“Is it what you hoped?” he asks, half to break the tension and half because he’d really like to know.
You nod, and Sirius’ eyes train down to the black shape again, unable to resist now that it’s right there.
“Yeah. I always wanted something for my neck, but I never could decide what.” You’re picking at your towel wrap awkwardly, sickly aware of Sirius’ hot gaze on you. You knew for a fact he hadn’t seen the tattoo yet, and you were almost dreading when he'd finally catch sight of it.
“I like it,” he says in passionate agreement. “I really, really like it.”
Your lips twitch into a smile, and you throw a sideways glance his way. “Yeah?” He nods avidly, and you release a relieved laugh. “I was hoping you would.”
“Can I see it one more time?” he asks. You laugh some more.
“Um, okay. Yeah.”
Sirius stares at the ink for another long minute, long enough for you to begin fidgeting with impatience.
“Yeah,” he concludes finally, “you’ll have to show this off more. Keep your hair up like this, maybe?”
Puffing in amusement, you peek over your shoulder shyly. “If you say so.”
“I say so,” he laughs. “I definitely say so.”
Stomach swooping with butterflies, you face forward again, trying to retain some semblance of composure.
“Well, okay then.” You sit back, relaxing some, milling in the warmth you feel inside and out.

Forbidden Proximity
Tumblr media
- (TMR) Newt x reader
Summary: Takes place in "The Fever Code", before an examination test, you meet the beloved Newt. After meeting him, things start to be different and someone warned you to watch your proximity. But you think you're doing just the opposite.
Taglist: @heliads
A/N: AHHH, IT'S FINALLY FINISHED!! This fic took me so long. Motivation came and left like 1000 times. Sorry about that, and here it is!! Also, let's just imagine that newt is not like a minor here and is his movie age ;_; The ending is a bit rushed as I just wanted to get this fic finished tbh.
----☆----
Wake up, examinations and tests, eat food, maybe add a hint of some learning and then sleep. And it's repeating the same routine every day, over and over again. It's been like this for you ever since you got taken in this facility called W.I.C.K.E.D. They're not so harsh towards you but you saw and heard from others of what they can be like when they're angry so you usually do what you're told to be on their good side.
But life in this facility is very repetitive and dull so you always opt to do something fun once in a while, being extremely discreet of course. Whether it's going to see your friends in their rooms during night or sneaking to catch a look at the other group, Group A. You have to admit you don't know why you all have to be separated into different groups, maybe they don't want certain people interacting with each other? You found the question lingering in your mind for a while, so you plan to ask at your next examination, which is tomorrow, that very question.
You sat on your bed, waiting in your room for Dr. Paige to do some tests on you, observing around your room trying to pass time. You always seem to land on the clock. Time ticking like usual, you wondered how the clock can be so perfectly timed to the real time, but then again just another question to add to your pile.
"Questions and questions" you sighed, looking down at your feet, swinging them back and forth. You realised you were getting taller which makes you glad because Harriet used to tease you about your height, saying how you won't be able to reach anything. Guess you could prove her wrong now, you slightly chuckled at that.
The door opens and you look up thinking you were going to see Dr. Paige but instead a tall lady with round glasses. She had a firm look on her face as she approached you,
"Y/N, Dr. Paige is quite busy for a while so she won't be able to do your test right now."
She stated, looking at her clipboard which had some files on it, "She will do your examination in about half an hour. Please come with me to another test room."
You nodded as you got up from the bed to follow her out the door. She shut the door and you walked beside her as she brought you to the elevator and pressed a few buttons, you waited for about a minute and the doors opened to the 2nd floor. She ushered you to walk beside her as you looked around the 2nd floor, you've only been here once before and that was the first time you got examined.
You followed her into the first room on your right, and she told you to sit down and that she would inform you when Dr. Paige was here. As she left, you looked around the room and noticed that there was a blonde haired boy on the other side of the room, he had his head in his hands and he seemed to be the same age as you. You assumed both of you were here for tests.
You walked over to him and sat down on the empty chair beside him, the sound of the chair made him look up and he met your eyes.
"Oh hello there." The blonde smiled, you noticed he sounded a bit different, he definitely had an accent, not that you minded though it sounded nice. "You here for an examination too?"
You nodded and smiled back, "Yeah I am, how long have you been waiting here?" You asked, curious to talk to this boy.
"Probably been waiting for about 10 minutes?" He said, stretching his arms "I'm not really counting the time to be honest with ya, just waiting for this to be done and over with. So I can go and hang with my mates."
You raised an eyebrow, "Mates? What do you mean by that?"
"I mean my friends," he laughed, but then leaned in to whisper "We all usually hang out after our tests, obviously wicked doesn't know that, so keep it a secret for me and you could join us too." The blonde boy winked as he whispered the last part.
You chuckled, a corner of your lips developing a small smile. "Don't worry, your secrets are safe with me. And I didn't catch your name?"
"Name's Newt, pleased to meet you.. ?"
His sentence trailing off at the end in hopes of getting your name.
But before you could answer his last statement, the door swung open and you were greeted by two people, Dr. Paige and the other lady from earlier. They looked at the both of you and nodded to you, Dr. Paige calling your name as she was about to take your examination.
You nodded back to her and stood up from your chair, turning to Newt before you approached them, "Y/N. Pleased to meet you too." You smiled and waved at him as you followed behind Dr. Paige.
Your walk back to your room was silent, you usually would talk to Dr. Paige about a lot of things, how you were doing with learning and food or something along the lines of vital sign check ups. But this time you were silent, smiling to yourself as you thought about your encounter with the blonde boy, Newt was his name. Well not his actual name, as you knew they gave everyone different names but you thought it suited him, it was an oddly interesting name. To be honest you thought he was pretty cute too, you haven't talked to a boy your age since forever, before you even came to this place.
Smiling away to yourself must have caught Dr. Paige's attention as she talked to you as you both turned the hallway, heading to your room.
"Something on your mind Y/N? You look rather happy there." She spoke as she opened the door to your room, holding the door open so you could walk inside.
As you entered the room you sat on your bed, nodding to Dr. Paige's last statement.
She took a seat in front of you and got ready the equipment for your tests.
"Yeah I would say so, although I have a weird feeling in my stomach when I think about this certain … thing." You admitted, looking down at your feet and watching them swing back and forth again.
"Weird feeling in your stomach about a certain topic you say? Is this very recent or has this been happening for a while?" As she questioned you, she got ready the syringe for your injection and you took that as a sign to roll up your sleeve on your left arm.
"Quite recent. Actually right before you came to the room on the second floor."
She stopped and gave you a look.
"It's about Newt isn't it? That boy you met there?" She asked and her thoughts were confirmed when you looked at her and nodded. She sighed, "Y/N, that weird feeling you are talking about is called attraction or well starting out as a liking. We are specifically trying to prevent this though, it might interfere with your progress in tests. So please try not to think about him or even try to see him for that matter."
Dr. Paige had this firm look on her face, the one you heard about when Wicked employees got angry, you definitely didn't want to aggravate her even more but you still had to ask one more question, a very risky one considering the topic of the conversation.
"Dr. Paige, why do we have different groups, like why do you have to separate all of us?"
You looked at her eager for her answer as it could explain things. But she just pinched the bridge of her nose as she let out an annoyed sigh and with a sharp tone dodged your question.
"Y/N, enough questions. Remember you are here for one reason and that's to save the world. Everything we do is for your own good, be grateful you are even alive after what's going on out there." She snapped and looked you dead in the eyes.
Your eyes widened, you were stunned, Dr. Paige never raised her voice at you before. What was so wrong about the question you asked? You just wanted to understand their ways of running things, surely that's not a bad question but you assumed it was since she yelled at you.
She swiftly injected the needle into your arm, taking a blood sample for your test. And quickly put it into a plastic bag and sealed it inside another bag.
She turned around and headed for the door,
"I'll have some food delivered to your room so no need to go to the cafeteria for lunch. Remember Y/N, you're here to save the world, not question how things are."
And without another spoken word, she left and closed the door to your room.
You just stared at the closed door, pondering on what she said. You've always heard those words before 'Save the world.' How though? And wouldn't it be easier to save the world if we understood what's going on inside and outside? You scrunch your hair in annoyance and lay your head in your hands and thought for a bit.
You know what?
You were going to see Newt again.
But you have to think of a discreet way to meet up with him. How in the world are you even going to find him?
You could try and go back to that waiting room you were in earlier but chances are he's already gone and done his examination.
You usually catch a look at Group A, but that's through the vents and you don't really know your way around there as well as Harriet or someone else in your group.
As you try to think of ways to find him, your thoughts are interrupted when someone knocks on your door, it opens and it is one of your great friends, Harriet. You both smile and run for a hug, "How did your examination go?" Harriet asked, pulling away from the hug.
"I don't know what to think, I just hope I haven't angered Dr. Paige. But before the examination I was in a room and there was a boy there." You explained the whole thing, from meeting the boy Newt and to asking Dr. Paige about the 2 groups.
And this conversation led to Harriet coming up with a plan to sneak you into one of Group A's testing rooms in hopes of finding and meeting someone from the other group, or even better Newt.
She would start off by going to get some "lunch" and while doing that she would distract the guards so you could sneak into Group A's testing rooms. But you had to watch out for other employees that might leave the rooms and also cameras. But you would check every room and see if Newt is there.
Hiding behind corners and dodging employees wasn't easy, you were suprised that you even got this far. You looked around, no one. The employees may have taken a break or something, not that you minded, it made this a whole lot easier for you, less hiding.
...
"Well, hello there." A voice from behind you spoke. You jumped at the sudden sound, swiftly turning to see who had spoken and you had hoped that it wasn't Dr. Paige or any of the employees for that matter.
To your suprise, you were met with honey brown eyes, the same eyes of the boy you were looking for. At least you didn't have to look too far to find him.
"I thought I'd see you again, just didn't expect it to be so soon?" He raised a brow, inspecting you. But before he could ask any further questions, you pulled him into a nearby room.
"Okay before you ask anything, I need to make sure this room is safe before we get caught being somewhere we're not supposed to be." You explained, closing the door quickly and glancing around the room.
"Technically, you're not supposed to be here, but here we are." He smirked while you just rolled your eyes, he continued, "I mean, I'm not complaining and I think this room will be perfectly safe, considering that it's my room." He chuckled, and when you turned around with wide eyes, he just smiled.
"Well," you started, "I thought about your offer to join you and your friends and I gladly will." You smiled softly, but your smile grew even wider when you saw how the boy in front of you had a slight red face with another smile.
"You did all that effort to tell me this? You seem very dedicated Y/N."
Oh, you have no idea, you thought.
You spent what felt like hours with him, laughing along and chatting about anything under the sun. Even hearing a bit of his past but you didn't want to pry too much into it.
Your first meeting with Group A went quite well you would think, you quickly made friends with most them of them and even if Gally and Minho were quite skeptical of you at first, they warmed up to you eventually and even shared a couple of their jokes with you.
But as quickly as you made friends with them, the quicker your relationship with Newt grew to be stronger and you had hoped, he felt the same as you. Days turn into weeks and your time spent with him made your whole life better even if you weren't supposed to be of close proximity to him.
But as good things come, they always have to go. You found yourself running through the long bright lit corridors of the wicked facility.
Hoping to get there in time.
Hoping to get that one last chance.
Hoping you weren't too late.
With tear filled eyes, you start remembering the one memory you hoped would never leave you - Newt's confession.
One day, he pulled you aside when you were about to sneak out to go see all your friends.
He softly took your hands and placed them in his own.
"Um.. I don't know if you felt the same, but it did take me a while to realise it wasn't just some weird feeling I had about you, you made me feel like I could trust you, I felt..."
He scrunched his eyes in search of the right words to tell you, "Comfortable around you and safe, mainly safe. My point being, I like you. A lot, in fact, I can't really fathom why my brain works that way, but I hope you understand what I mean." His hope filled eyes begged you, not moving his worried scene that danced around his face.
You thought it was adorable and were quick to calm his worrying thoughts.
"Yes, I understand what you mean," you said with a laugh. "I feel the same way Newt."
How did wicked find out? But then again, they always are monitoring you. They always find out, or maybe they always knew.
Maybe you should have seen this coming.
But nothing always goes your way, you were aware of the Maze, they started sending your friends into one, a few weeks ago.
You were quickly made aware by some of your friends that they were going to send Newt into one. And not at the usual time he was supposed to go in. He was supposed to go a few weeks after.
You ran to the one place you knew you would find him before it would be too late. The hideout.
When you entered, you found him pacing around the room. He heard your footsteps and looked up and locked his dark eyes with you.
Just by looking at him, without even saying anything, you knew what he was thinking, and you wanted to save him from all this.
"Don't leave, why can't you just stay here?" You pleaded with him, grabbing his hands to curl them up into yours. "We could leave, run away right now, or even -"
He pulled you into a hug, wrapping his arms around your waist and hugging you like you're his source of life. You went silent and returned the hug. It was quiet for a good while, and you felt as if the white noise could swallow you both whole until Newt spoke.
"I want you to know that even if I die, or something happens and I might never see you again," his breath hitched in his throat, eyes dreading even the thought of it, "Nothing would ever make me forget you. I would go to the ends of the earth just to do this all over again if it meant being by your side, being here with you is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Tears that have flowed down his cheeks have now dripped onto the cold floor. The same room, same building that you first met, the sweet hearted boy. Even if you didn't know what would happen next, you knew for certain you loved him.
You knew you were never meant to be near him in the first place, but you did just the opposite.
"I'll love you forever and always."
He wiped the oncoming tears from your eyes with his thumb and smiled. You wish you could just capture this moment and stay with him forever.
The doors opened, and your warm hands quickly became cold as the warmth from him slowly drifted away from you.

I couldn’t see. The last thing I saw was the WICKD workers taking me out of the little cave I called home after my parents went crazy. They caught the Flare.
I couldn’t remember all that happened. I recall them saying I would be safer with them rather than on my own. They said they wanted to help find a cure. They said I was immune. I didn’t know what that meant. I was four.
My head hurts. I think I was screaming. It could have been someone else. Who knew? It has only been a week since I followed those WICKD soldiers out of my cave. They took me to their facility. There were more people there. I didn’t get to meet any of them, but I saw them when I first walked in. I was the youngest. I didn’t like it.
They told me it was a simple test. They wanted to see my brain waves when I did puzzles. Then, they knocked me out, and now, it hurts. There’s a boy in the bed next to me. He stopped screaming a while ago. The nurses and doctors refused to come in while we were screaming, and he learned that the hard way.
By the time I stopped screaming, another person a few rooms over started. “I hate this. It hurts.”
“Tell me about it,” the boy said, turning to glare at me. “You didn't have someone next to you screaming their head off for the last hour.”
“My bad,” I sassed, looking over to meet his gaze. “By the sound of it, everyone reacts this way at first.”
“You’d be right about that one,” he laughed. “Last time a nurse came in here was to drop you off. That was a few hours ago.”
“How long have you been in here?”
“Since yesterday,” he signed, flipping over to his side. “Said I could leave this morning but never told me anything after that.”
“I’m sorry. Probably my fault. I’m (Y/N).”
“Or they’re just jerks,” he laughed again. “I’m Minho.”
~4 years later~
There was knocking. I was sure of it. A few minutes passed by before I heard it again. This time, I stood up to open my door only to find Minho leaning against the wall.
“Took you long enough, sweetcheeks,” he whispered.
“Are you insane?” I seethed, moving to pull him into my room. “Them WICKD workers could kill you for sneaking out.”
“Oh yeah?” He asked, rhetorically as he moved towards my bed. “What good’ll that do them? They need us.”
“Point is that they’re sticklers for rules, and one of the main rules is to not leave our rooms after lights out.”
“Again, what’ll they do? Kill me? Doubt that,” he smirked as he wrapped his arms around my waist to pull me down to the bed on top of him as he laid down. “Plus, I got news.”
“What kind of news?”
“Good news,” he smiles. “Everyone’s merging.”
“Like everyone everyone or most of us?”
“Well, obviously the golden four won't be with us, but I heard we’re gonna be allowed to eat together, go to classes together, and we’ll have roommates.”
“They would never room you with me,” I laughed at his statements. “They’ll stick you with Newt and me with Harriet.”
“Unless they group us in those two huge rooms by the stairs,” he offered. “Maybe they’ll split us into the groups they’re prepping us for.”
“If they do that, they’re probably going to split us by gender,” I countered. “I heard group A was going to be the guys and group B was the girls.”
“Well, I guess I’ll be sneaking into the girls’ room every night.”
“Take a lady to dinner first.”
“I literally eat with you at every meal!”
~4 years later~
I couldn’t sleep. I just couldn’t shut down. This room was too big, too echo-y. Every little sound caused anxiety to rise in my chest. I didn’t like this new room. I missed my isolated cell. I miss Minho randomly stopping by and talking for hours. It’s been years since the merge, but I still do not like it.
Then, I heard the door close. I pretended to be asleep, in fear of the WICKD guards catching me again. The footsteps echoed through the room, but they did not sound like the boots of other WICKD workers. They sounded like someone was being careful of where they were going like they were searching for someone.
“Pst,” they whispered. “I hate that you guys can’t stick with one format. Like they’re just beds! Why do you have to rearrange it so often?”
“Maybe you boys are just boring,” I laughed in response, immediately recognizing the voice as Minho. “Why do you come in here every night?”
“Maybe I just want to see you, sweetcheeks,” he teased as he continued to move around the room blindly until he tripped over something on the ground. “What's with all this clunk?”
“Shut up, Minho! If you want to hang with your girlfriend, take her out and let us sleep!” One of the girls exclaimed. With a groan, and probably an eye-roll, he got up and found my bed.
“Finally,” he let out a breath. “Now, you want to get out of here?”
“Take a lady to dinner first,” I laughed.
“What if I want our first date to be a walk in the park?” He offered before pausing, “or facility. We don't have a park.”
“What if I said yes?”
“Then, I will take you out right now.”
“Okay,” I giggled. “Let me grab a jacket and my shoes real quick.”
“Here,” he said, taking his hoodie off, revealing a long sleeve WICKD shirt underneath. He helped me put it over my head once I sat up in my bunk. “Take mine. I bet you’d look cute in it”
“Oh, smooth, Min,” I replied, sarcastically. “Now, lead the way.”
He grabbed my hand, pulling me out of the large room into the hallway where we met up with Alby.
“Took you bloody long enough,” Alby complained. “We almost got caught twice!”
“Didn’t take you as a stickler,” Minho shot back.
“Last I thought, you were just going in and getting the girl,” Alby laughed as he pushed himself up from where he was sitting on the floor. “Didn’t realize it’d take you 20 minutes.”
“Okay, shut up both of you,” I stated. “You need to pack your patience.”
“And you just got shut down by a girl,” Minho laughed. He pulled me along, leaving Alby behind. “Let’s go, you lazy shanks! We’re going to kidnap Thomas and Teresa.”
“That was the plan?” I wondered. “How are we going to get them to follow us?”
“Just say we found something cool,” Alby laughed. “They’re probably bored as heck in their rooms all day. They don’t get to see anyone besides the doctors and each other, so anything is better than nothing.”
“Exactly,” Minho agreed as we continued down the hallway towards their respective rooms that were at opposite ends of the hall. “We can also show them what WICKD is trying to get us to do. Show them what kind of experiments they are doing to us.”
“I’ll get Teresa, you guys get Thomas,” I said, stopping her room, as the others continue to the other end. I raise my hand to knock, and almost immediately, Teresa opens the door. “Come on. We’re gonna take a tour.”
“Anything to get out of this room,” she laughed, closing her door behind her, and we started heading down to Thomas’s room. “Do you know where?”
“Not exactly, but knowing the boys, it’s probably the ‘super-secret hiding place’ they found last week,” we laughed. “Did you get Thomas yet?”
“Yeah, he’s talking with Alby,” Minho answered, leading us over to the rest of the group. “Now, let’s go before someone sees us on the cameras.” Teresa walked ahead to meet up with the only other person she knew in the group while Minho and I stayed a few steps behind the rest. “Are we going to the place?”
“Yeah,” he responded, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. “We’re gonna show them exactly what they are feeding.”
“Is that so?” Another voice asked, causing us all to stop as another group of WICKD workers came out from behind the corner we were about to cross. “Why don’t we show you what we’re trying to do?”
Without an escape, we all follow the workers, and we are met by a few other people at the elevators. I could only recognize two of them: Dr. Paige and Chancellor Anderson.
“We are going to show you exactly what we are keeping you safe from,” Dr. Paige explained.
“Oh, we finally get to know what happens when someone gets the flare?” Minho exclaimed sarcastically. “I’m shaking in my boots.”
I turned to slap his arm as we got into the elevator and went down. Chancellor Anderson and Dr. Paige just shook their heads in response as we rode down in silence. We just awkwardly looked around at each other. Despite having done this many times, this is the only time we have been caught. Probably because this was the first time we brought Thomas and Teresa with us. Finally, after what felt like forever, we stopped at the last level. Dr. Paige led us out with Alby, Minho and I walking out first while Thomas and Teresa followed behind us with Chancellor Anderson after them.
We walked down a dimly lit hall to a large metal door at the end. Thomas and Teresa were taken another way with Chancellor Anderson doing who knows what. Once we approached the door, Dr. Paige turned to us slowly as one of the workers began opening the door. “This will, hopefully, put into perspective what our mission is, and why we do what we do.”
“Keep your mouth shut, Min, and let’s just get this over with,” I stated, turning to send a glare at Minho before moving to go into the room first. I am immediately met with a large room that looked like a forest. The next thing I noticed was the groans. I looked to the side to see Randall Spilker. He had black veins spreading around his body, blood flowing from his mouth, and the tips of his fingers were gone. “What happened to him?”
“The flare,” Randall answered. “Don’t you understand? This is what they are keeping you safe from. They are trying to keep you safe from people like me. To find a cure.”
“It’s not like we were going to leave,” Alby responds.
“Yeah, we were going to show Thomas and Teresa all the work they’ve been putting into this place,” Minho added. “We saw those huge areas you’ve been building, and wanted to show them what’s been going on.”
“Minho, respectfully, shut up,” I hissed. His big mouth was going to get us into more trouble than we already were.
“All I’m doing is defending us,” He responded.
“And because we want to get our message across, Minho, why don’t I show you around this room first?” Randall offered.
“Is that even safe?” I nearly shouted.
“We would never let the cranks harm any of you,” Dr. Paige said. “However, we will throw you in to understand them.”
Before Alby or I could register what Dr. Paige said, two other workers pulled us back out of the room, leaving Minho with the cranks. Out of the room, down the hallway, and back to the elevator; we were dragged. Once in the lift, the workers pulled out these syringes before plunging them into our necks

I wake with a start, tied down to a hospital bed in my old room. Thomas is next to me, shaking me awake. I groaned before squeezing my eyes closed to block out the white lights of the room. “What the shuck, Tom.” I slowly opened them again to take in the boy in front of me. He looked nothing like earlier. He looked a few years older. “How long was I out?”
“They’ve been keeping you in an induced coma for the past three years,” he explained. “They started sending people to the maze after you got caught. Alby went first, then Newt, Minho, Gally-”
“Hold up, what maze?” I was so confused. I could not register it all at once.
“The groups they separated us in. The gigantic structures in the basement. Those are mazes like the ones we did in class. They want to monitor our brainwaves to see if they can find a cure,” he explained once again.
“How do mazes and puzzles find a cure for a DNA-altering disease? Doesn’t that seem fishy to you?”
“That’s why I woke you up,” he whispered. “They don’t know. They gave me access to all floors and rooms once Teresa and I agreed to help them, and I need backup.”
“What kind of backup?”
“Okay, so I want you to find out exactly what they are doing with the tests,” he explained. “If anyone can figure it out, it’s you. Once you find the results and their intentions, we can get them out. You also need to hide from anyone besides me. Again, I’m the only one that knows you’re awake.”
“Got it.”
~~
It has been a few weeks of me sneaking around the facility, taking notes on every little thing I believe would be helpful to Thomas. I have been writing as much as I could, sliding the pages under his door, and hiding in one of the back closets.
Today, I was going to try and get down to the basement to see the mazes. Looking over the building plans, there was a small passage from the stairs to a platform that looks over one of the mazes. By the looks of it, it should be an easy thing, especially at night.
It was nearing midnight, and I know the majority of the staff is off to bed. I make my way down the never-ending staircases to reach the last floor before turning off towards a door that leads to the passage. The narrow hallway twisted into a spiral staircase. Once I got to the top, I opened the door to see a gigantic enclosed yard.
“Holy crap,” I whispered to myself as I looked at the field. From where I was standing, I could see a few people walking around the perimeter, and in those people, I saw Minho. It was him, Newt, Alby, Ben, and Gally. I had no clue what they were talking about but they were laughing at something, then Alby slapped the back of Minho’s head. I jotted some notes about what the place looked like and what they were doing into the notebook I snagged from one of the supply closets. I hid the book in the back of my shirt and turned to leave, but the sound of the passage door locking.
I took off running down the normal entrance/ exit stairs despite knowing it would be completely open; if I was going to get caught, I needed to make sure Thomas knew what was going on in the mazes. I took off running up the stairs, hearing the pounding of multiple sets of footsteps following behind me. I took a shortcut up to Thomas’ room. I needed to get these to him without the guards noticing.
I turned the corner to his room before throwing the entire notebook under the door and taking off toward the only exit I knew of. As I got to the last door, I opened it using a key card I had stolen from a desk, but when the door opened, I was met by Janson.
“Who woke you up?” He teased me. “Last I checked, you were unconscious.”
“I woke up myself, Ratman,” I laughed in response. “Just you wait until I tell everyone in this facility exactly what you are doing with us. I saw those grievers. You are literally trapping us and not letting us leave! I have seen seven people get killed by those grievers directly, and another ten from getting stung. I will make sure that everyone knows about the cruel punishments you put us through!”
“Maybe, but you’re not going to remember what you saw,” he responded. I was not able to respond before a doctor came up behind me and injected me with something.
~~
I couldn’t tell where I was. I couldn’t see, but I could tell that I was moving. Very fast at that. After my eyes adjusted to the dark area, I could make out that I was in a small room with boxes surrounding me. I went to go over to the crates but fell down as the room came to a sudden stop.
The top of the room opened, and I had to squint my eyes as the bright light evaded the area. Once I was able to see again, I noticed a group of guys huddled around the opening.
“What the shuck?” One said.
“Since when did they send girls here?” Another said.
“Oh great,” A third said with an eye roll, “stick her with Fry. I’m not dealing with her.”
“What is this place?” I asked. “Who are you?”
“You’ll learn with time, greenie,” The second guy said, jumping into the box. “I'm Alby. I run this place. It’s the Glade.”
“What did I miss?” A guy walked, more like limped, over from a building. “Wait, they sent a girl?”
“Yeah, Newt. What does that mean?” The first guy that spoke said.
“I don’t know,” Newt responded. He and the guy he was talking to walked over to the end, and the other jumped in with Alby and me while Newt stayed at the top.
“Minho, take her and show her around,” Alby commanded. Minho went to protest, but Alby stopped him. “Newt would, but his leg is still healing and walking ain’t doing him any good.”
“Fine, let’s go, greenie,” he huffed, climbing out of the box.
“Who are you calling greenie? What is a greenie?” I responded, following him out. “Last I checked my name was (Y/N).”
All of the guys gasped in surprise and started talking among themselves. Alby climbed out as well and pulled Newt into a side conversation while Minho just stared at me like I was crazy.
“You know your name? Already?” He asked, curious as to why the creators would send someone with at least partial memories.
“Yeah, you think I’m dumb?” I snapped.
“No, just no one remembers anything when they get here,” he snapped as well. “And until you can prove that you’re not useless, you’ll just be weak to me.”
~~
It has been a few months in the glade. I have not remembered anything other than my name, but I moved past that in order to prove myself to these boys. The only people in this place that did not question my worth were Alby and Newt even though I have worked my way up to being a builder and occasional runner.
Minho had some weird vendetta against me. He thinks I am out to get him or something stupid like that. It’s almost like he doesn't understand that I am just doing my part.
“Why don’t you let the stronger guys take care of that,” Minho sneered, poking at the fact that I was carrying wood to the area where we would have the bonfire. “Look like you’re struggling there, shank.”
“Minho, respectfully, shut up,” I growled, “Let me do my job in peace. I don’t run into the maze to bug you.”
“Hmmm, yeah you do.”
“Not on days that I’m not allowed,” I snapped. “Even then I’m not near you and Ben. I’m off on my own.”
“Hey, (Y/N), get back to work,” Gally shouted, “Those logs ain’t gonna move themselves.”
I was about to respond when the box sounded that a new shipment was in as well as a new greenie. We all went to crowd around the box, and when it opened, I recognized the person. I could not say from where, but his face looked familiar. He didn’t give anyone a chance to say anything before he jumped out of the box and bolted towards the doors of the maze. Minho and I took after him, but we didn’t need to run for long as the greenie tripped. Once we got him into the slammer, I knew I wanted to talk to Alby about making him a runner.
“That’s a suggestion you need to bring up with Minho,” Alby said. “It’s his section.”
“You know he’d never listen to me,” I started. “Plus, he’d never let a newbie into the maze.”
“Here, we will have a meeting, and we’ll vote on it.”
~~
“No.”
“We already voted, and we need more runners,” I reasoned. “You’re not even running with him. I’m the only one that doesn’t have a partner.”
“Still, I’m the keeper of the runners, so I get the final say, and I said no,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “Just let it go, and leave me alone.”
“I’ll leave you alone when you respect democracy, you slinthead.” I continued following him as we approached the bonfire. Gally was already throwing hands with Ben, Winston and Fry already had Gally’s concoction and Newt was talking with the greenie. “All I’m saying is to give him a chance.”
“Fine, he got one day to prove himself, and I’m not handling him, is that clear?”
“Crystal,” I spat with a tight-lipped smile before turning away from Minho to approach Newt and greenie. However, the greenie was being pulled into the ring by the time I got to them. I looked over to Newt to see him looking nervous. “This is initiation. He’ll be fine.”
“Were you able to talk sense into Minho?”
“Yup, he’s got one day to prove himself,” I stopped, hearing someone hit the dirt. I saw the new guy on the ground, but he did not get up right away. Just as Newt and I were about to react, he jumped up screaming his name.
“Thomas!” He exclaimed. “My name is Thomas!”
~~
“Alright, Thomas,” I paused out of breath. We had just gotten closed into the maze with Minho and Alby. Minho and Alby ran together today since Ben was sung yesterday, but now, Alby was also stung. No one had ever been locked in the maze, and now the four of us had to survive together. “We just killed ourselves.”
“No, I’ve got an idea,” Thomas started.
“Thomas, no,” Minho snapped, propping Alby against the wall. “We are dead. There is no way we can survive the night with the grievers and Alby being stung. We. Are. Dead.”
“No, I have an idea. We could tie Alby to the vines and hang him up,” Thomas explained as he pointed up the wall. “We just need to work together.”
“Thomas, hate to break it to you, but Minho hates both of us,” I responded bluntly. “So while I might help and it might work, there is no way we would ever work together.”
With that, Thomas and I started wrapping the vines around Alby. We worked together to secure the vines and pull to hang him at a safe height. All the while, Minho sat and watched. Just as we finished, the sound of gears and scraping got louder, almost as if it were right around the corner. Once we secured Alby in the air, we took off in different directions instead of sticking together.
I could not tell how long I had been running, but eventually, I found a cliff and a small hiding place. I threw myself into the hole as the griever came around the corner. Thankfully, it did not see me, but another set of footsteps turned around the corner. It was Minho, but the next thing I knew, the griever was on top of him.
I did not really want to help him since he would not do the same if I was in his shoes, but I also could not let him just get stung. Thus, I jumbled out of the hole, grabbed a vine, and whipped it at the griever. “Over here, griever!” I shouted.
Minho had already been stung, but he looked over at me with a glazed look before passing out as the griever walked up to me.
“I clearly did not think this through,” I mumbled to myself as I took off running in the other direction. I, quite literally, ran into Thomas before scrambling to get up, pulling him with me. “Run!”
“What?” He trailed off but followed closely behind once he saw the griever on my tail. We ended up splitting up, me going right, and Thomas going left. I ended up doing a circle which worked out since I was able to get Minho hidden in the hole, so he would not die. He stirred as I dragged his body toward the hiding space, and he started mumbling pieces of a conversation but still not opening his eyes.
“Golden four,” he muttered. I listened curiously as there was a break, but he picked up after a second, almost as if he was having a real conversation. “Split us into groups…Sneaking into the girls’ room every night…I literally eat with you at every meal.”
That last sentence sparked something in my mind, it was like the floodgates opened, and it’s like I could remember most of my life before this maze. I do not remember specifics, but I do remember running around a huge facility with a small group of people. There were three boys, Newt. Alby and Minho, and one girl. We would cause trouble in the cafeteria, roan the halls, and run from guards. That was about as specific as I could get.
Leaving Minho where he was, I took off to find Thomas. Finding him relatively quickly with a griever pinning him down, I grabbed a vine yet again to whip at the machine. This time, instead of it just coming back at me, the vine wrapped itself around the legs of the griever and tripped it. Thomas scrambled from underneath it to stand beside me as the griever began tearing through the vines. It stood menacingly in front of us before, almost like a switch, just turning around, and leaving us without a thought.
“Minho got stung,” I told him as we started walking back to the doors. “I hid him.”
“Why would you do that? Not to be mean or anything, but you guys hate each other," Thomas asked as we dragged Minho out of the hiding spot. “He would’ve just let you did probably.”
“Regardless of our hatred, I am not letting anyone die in this maze. Not on my watch,” I replied seriously as we approached the doors that were just opening. We propped Minho against the wall as we got Alby down. Thomas carried Alby while I dragged Minho closer to the doors as they finished opening, and every glader was standing, waiting for us. I leaned closer to Thomas, whispering, “I’m not a monster.”
~~ It’s been nearly a week since we got out of the maze. Three days since we got out of the glade. Minho and Alby survived, but Gally and Chuck died on our way out. Now, we were all separated, well most of us were. The boys got to stick together, and Teresa and I stuck together. I’ve got a bad feeling about her, but I’m apparently the only one.
Minho, on the other hand, has been avoiding me like the plague. I know he’s asking about me because Thomas and Newt still talk to me, but anytime Minho sees me around them, he turns the other way. I want to know what he remembered, but I know that is something he would never tell me.
One night, I got curious. I wanted to know where the “safe” people were going, so I stole a key card and snuck through the vents to reach the backrooms. I was not expecting to see hundreds of teenagers strung up, hooked up to a multitude of machines. I found a couple of loose guns, so I grabbed those, hoping the guys would bust out with me. If not, oh well, I have a weapon now. I crawled through the vents to reach the boys’ room. I heard them talking quietly, so I waited for a break in the conversation.
“You’re not making any sense,” Newt said. “What do you mean you remember her?”
“When I got stung, I remembered a conversation and we were talking about a merge,” Minho explained. “Like I think we were here for a long time and then the WICKED people put us into the groups. Y’know, Group A and Group B, but she should’ve been in Group B. Why was she in our group?”
“We do not have time to focus on that,” Thomas reasoned. “We need to figure out exactly how you know Y/n and how we get out of here. Seriously, I have a bad feeling.”
“I think we were together,” Minho mumbled. The rest of the guys gasped, and I let out one quietly to myself. None of them heard it as they continued the conversation. “I don’t know what to think.”
“Well, how do you feel?” Newt pressed. “You wouldn’t be so caught up if you didn’t feel something for her.”
“Maybe I do!” Minho exclaimed. “She literally saved my life, but she hates me.”
“Minho, trust me,” Thomas speaks up, “she does not hate you. When she was talking about saving you in the maze, she did not look like she hated you. There’s no way.” It went silent for a while, so I decided to put aside my shock and make an appearance. I knocked on their vent. I could hear them jump before Thomas lifted it. “Oh, what’re you doing here?”
“You won’t believe me, but we need to get out of here. Now,” I pressed. “They’re stringing us up. There is no safe haven. They’re killing us.”
Running through the halls with Ratman chasing me did not bring up the best memories. I remembered waking up after Minho was sent up to the maze, and Thomas recruited me. Not the best time, but I pushed through. At one point, I tripped. I thought I was dead. However, to my shock, someone stopped.
“You’re not dying on me. I won’t let you go now that I remember,” Minho. It was Minho. It’s always been Minho.

*3rd Person POV*
"Yeah." Sam said into his cellphone as he stands in the bathroom of their motel room. Dean and (y/n) were asleep in one of the beds together, Dean was laying on his right side and (y/n) was hugged up to him. His back against her chest and her left arm draped around his waist and her face was pressed up against his back.
A truck horn sounds and wakes Dean up. He raises his head and sees Sam was not in his bed. "Yeah, that's what I'm telling you. No storms, no bad crops, nothing." Sam said and Dean leans up on an elbow and watches Sam talk in the phone. "Yeah, okay. We'll keep looking. You keep looking too, OK? All right. Talk soon." Sam said and he hangs up and Dean quickly lies down, pretending to be asleep.
Sam enters the main room and watches Dean and (y/n), seeing they were still asleep. Then he pokes Dean with his bathroom bag. "Hey. Up and at 'em, kiddos." he said and Dean pretends to wake up, rubbing his eyes, while (y/n) groans. "Five more minutes." She mumbles as Dean looks over at Sam.
"You're up early. What are you doing?" He asked Sam. "Nothing. I was in the can." Sam replied. "Yeah?" Dean said, not believing him. "Yeah. You want me to draw you a picture?" Sam asked him. "Nah, I'll pass." Dean said as (y/n) goes to lay on her back and rubs her eyes. "Thank God, cause I don't want the first image I see in the morning is Sam's bathroom routine." She grumbles and Sam rolls his eyes.
"Found a job. Bedford, Iowa. Guy beat his wife's brains out with a meat tenderizer." Sam said and both Dean and (y/n) look over at him, alarmed. "Yikes." Dean said. "And get this. Third local inside two months to gank his wife. No priors on any of 'em, all happily married." Sam said. "Ahh. Sounds like Ozzie and Harriet." (y/n) remarks and Sam smirks.
"More like The Shining." he said as (y/n) sits up on the side of the bed. "All right, well I guess we'd better have a look." Dean said
*(y/n)'s POV*
"Why does the PD keep sending you guys? I already said I don't want a lawyer." Mr Benson said to us after we arrived at the prison to interview him.. "They're lining up the firing squad." Dean said, smirking. "I'm pleading guilty." Benson said. "All right, look, you don't want us to represent you, that's fine. In fact it's probably not a bad idea, between you and me. We just wanna understand what happened, that's all." I said to him.
"Mr Benson. Please." Sam pleaded as Benson looked between us then sighs. "What happened was, I killed my wife. You wanna know why? Because she made plans without asking me. He said. "Now when it happened, how did you feel? Disoriented, out of control?" Sam asked him. "Like something possessed you to do it?" Dean added.
"I knew exactly what I was doing. I was crystal clear." Benson said and I furrow my brow. "The why'd you do it?" I asked him. "I don't know. I loved her. We were happy." he replied and Dean places some papers on the table and taps them.
"Nine G's. That's a hefty bill." Dean said and Benson's eyes widen. "Where did you get that?" he asked. "Doesn't matter. We have it. See, certain charges, ones you don't want the missus to know...they show up under shady names like M & C Entertainment." Dean said. "I don't know what you're talking about." Benson said. "Like dropping plastic at a nudie bar for instance." Dean said.
"We just wanna know the truth, Mr Benson." I said to Benson, who was looking at us nervous then he sighs. "Her name was Jasmine." he said. "She was a stripper?" Sam asked. "Dude, her name was Jasmine." Dean said. "Or she's a fan of Aladdin." I added and Dean rolls his eyes. "I didn't mean for it to happen, I don't like to go to strip bars. My buddy was having a bachelor party, and there she was." Benson said.
"Jasmine." Sam said and Benson nods. "She came right up to me. And...I dunno, she was just...perfect. Everything that I wanted." he said. "Well you pay enough and anybody will be anything." Dean said and I elbow his side. "It wasn't about the money. It wasn't even about the sex. It was...I dunno. I....I don't know what it was. It's hard to explain." Benson said and I raise an eyebrow at this.
"And your wife found out?" I asked him. "No, she never had a clue." Benson said. "Then why'd you kill her?" I asked, confused. "For Jasmine. She said we would be together forever. If...if only Vicki was..." Benson said then Dean mutters under his breath. "Muertos."
"Afterwards, me and Jasmine were supposed to meet and she never showed. I don't know where she lives, I don't know her last name, I don't even know her real first name! I'm an idiot." Benson exclaims. "And you didn't think to tell this to the cops?" Sam asked him. "What for? The stripper didn't do it, I did it. And I know what I deserve. The judge doesn't give me the death sentence, I'll just do it myself." Benson said and the boys and I exchange looks.
*3rd Person POV*
Dr Cara Roberts sits behind her desk and tips some tablets from a bottle into her hand. She swallows the tablets and rubs her temples as Sam enters the office. "Rough night?" he asked her, smiling, and she turns and smiles at him. "Fun night. Rough morning." she said and Sam sniggers.
"Can I help you?" Cara asked him. "Ahhh...yes. Um, I'm Special Agent Stiles, FBI. You Doctor Cara Roberts?" Sam asked her as he showed her his badge. "Far as I know." she replied.
"You do some work with the Sheriff's department?" Sam asked. "Yeah, when I'm not slogging it through the ER. It's a small town. We multi-task." Cara said, shrugging. "Well, I have some questions about a case. About several cases actually. Do you mind if I sit?" Sam asked her and she motions him to a chair.
"Great. Adam Benson, Jim Wylie, and Steve Snyder." Sam listed off and Cara nods. "Oh yeah, the men who killed their wives?" she asked and Sam nods. "You handled their work-ups, right?" he asked. "Autopsies for the wives and tox screens for the perps. Two-for-one special." Cara said.
"You find anything?" he asked. "Not really. I mean, c.o.d. on the women was pretty clear. There was nothing unusual in their systems." she explained. "What about the husbands?" Sam asked her and she looks at him, curiously.
"Can I....see your badge again?" She asked and he pulls it out and she looks closely at his badge then at Sam. "There was one thing, um, an anomaly in the blood work. And I remember thinking how strange it was that it showed up in all three of the men." she said.
"That what showed up?" Sam asked, confused. "Oxytocin. And their levels were crazy high." Cara said. "Ahh. Oxytocin?" Sam said, asking for an elaboration. "Mm-hmm, it's a hormone that's produced during childbirth, lactation and sex." Cara said then Sam nods. "OK." he said.
"People call it the love hormone. Um, you know how it feels when you first fall in love. The whole weak in the knees, tattoo you on my chest thing? That's oxytocin. Of course it eventually fades and then you're stuck with every relationship ever. That and the painful regime of tattoo removal." Cara said, chuckling, and her and Sam smile at each other just as Dean and (y/n) enter.
"What'd we miss?" Dean asked and Cara looks at the two, confused, then back at Dean. "Ahh, these are my partners, Agent Murdoch and Agent Case." Sam introduced and Cara, Dean and (y/n) shake hands.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Doctor Roberts." she said and (y/n) nods. "Pleasure to meet you." She greets then Cara turns to Sam. "So, um, can I help you with anything else?" she asked him. "Uhh, sure, just one more thing. This chemical, this..." Sam said and trails off as he tries to remember what it was call.
"Oxytocin." She answered and Sam nods. "Oxytocin. What would cause those high levels that you found?" he asked her. "Nothing that I've ever seen." she said. "OK. That's it. Thanks Doc." Sam said and they exchange smiles again then he, Dean and (y/n) move to the door. Sam hesitates then turns back to her.
"By the way...try a greasy breakfast. Best thing for a hangover." He informed her and she smiles again. "Watch it buddy, I'm the only M.D. here." she said and Sam nods and leaves. "Looks like a certain doctor has their eyes on you." (Y/n) teased and Sam scoffs as they leave the hospital.
*(y/n)'s POV*
"So Whylie and Snyder totally fessed up, huh?" Sam asked as we get to the parking lot of the hospital. "One emptied his IRA, the other, his kids' college fund, all on the same day." Dean said. "Live nude girls?" Sam asked and we nod. "A club called The Honey Wagon." I said.
"These guys have affairs too, with a stripper also known as Jasmine?" asked Sam. "Yes and no. This is where it gets interesting. Each guy hooked up with a different chick." said Dean. "So, what? These girls all connected somehow?" Sam asked. "Well, they all described their stripper in the same way, the exact same way. Perfect, and everything that they wanted." I said and Sam scoffs out a laugh.
"Yeah, at least until dream Barbie convinced them to murder their wives." He said. "There's that." Dean said, shrugging. "You know, it's almost like they were under some kinda love spell." Sam said. "Sure seems that way." I said. "Which caused them to become totally psychotic." Sam said.
"Absolutely." Dean said, smiling. "You seem pretty cheery." Sam points out and I eye Dean. "Strippers, Sammy. Strippers. We're on an actual case involving strippers. Finally." Dean said and I fold my arms and clear my throat at him and he looks at me. "Hey, I can look just can't touch." He said and I raise an eyebrow at him. "You better just look..." I said in a threatening tone and he raised his hand up.
That night, Dean and I make it over to the club and show our badge to security. The guy lets us in and we go inside to find the manager as Thunder Kiss '65 plays over the speakers. "We're looking for three girls. Jasmine, Aurora and Ariel." Dean said to the manager, who looked at us annoyed.
"You seriously think those names mean anything to me?" he asked us. "One's a redhead about 5'9". The other one's Asian, about..." I said and the manager scoffs. "You have any idea how many girls I deal with? Fake names, fake hair, fake..." he said and Dean sighs. "You gotta have some sort of paperwork. Check stubs. Some way to keep track of the strippers." Dean said.
"Please, exotic dancers. Independent contractors working for cash. I stay out of their hair, they stay out of what little I have left." The manager said. "Three of your customers murdered their wives. You don't think that that's weird?" I asked him, suspiciously. "Yeah. I think that's super-friggin' weird. But you know what it ain't? My problem." The manager said and he leaves.
"Nice helpful fellow." I grumbled as Sam comes up to us. "Any luck?" He asked us. "No. You?" Dean said. "A little. I just talked to Bobby, we officially have a theory." Sam said. "What's that?" Dean and I asked. "Siren." Sam said. "Like Greek myth siren, the Odessy?" Dean asked and both Sam and I give Dean a surprised look. "....Hey, I read!" Dean said, defensively.
"Yeah, actually. But the siren's not actually a myth, it's more of a beautiful creature that preys on men, enticing them with their siren song." Sam said. "Let me guess, Welcome to the Jungle? No, no. Warrant's Cherry Pie." Dean jokes "Their song is more of a metaphor, like...like their call, their allure, you know?" Sam said.
"So they shake their thing and the guys zombie out." I said and Sam nods. "Basically, yeah. Sirens lived on islands, sailors would chase 'em, completely ignoring the rocky shores...and dash themselves to pieces." he said. "Sounds like Adam and his buddies." Dean said.
"Yeah. If you were a siren in '09 looking to ruin a bunch of morons, where would you set up shop?" Sam asked, rhetorically. "So whatever floats the guy's boat, that's what they look like?" Dean asked. "Yeah. You see, sirens can read minds. They see what you want most and then they can kinda, like, cloak themselves. You know, like an illusion." Sam explained.
"So it could all be the same chick? Morphing into, uh, to different dream girls?" I asked. "Yeah, actually. Probably. Sirens are usually pretty solitary." Sam said. "How do we kill it?" asked Dean. "Bobby's working on it. Even if we figure that out..." Sam said as we look out into the crowd of people in the club. "How the hell are we gunna find it? It could be anybody." I said.
The next day, Dean and I were sitting in the motel room and I noticed that Sam left his cellphone. "Sam left his phone." I pointed out and Dean stares at it then picks it up. "Dean, what are you doing?" I asked as he scrolls the numbers then clicks on a number and brings it up to his ear.
"Dean..." I said but he holds up a finger at me then a second later, his face hardens in anger then he quickly hangs up. "What the hell, Dean?" I asked him. "Sam's been talking to Ruby." Dean said and my eyes widen in shock. "What?" I asked.
But before Dean could reply, Sam enters the room. "Lenny Bristol was definitely another siren vic." Sam said. "You get in to see him?" Dean asked him. "Yep. He bought home a stripper named Belle. Coupla hours later he offed his mother. Belle, of course, went MIA." Sam said and I shake my head and look over at Sam.
"Wait, he killed his mom?" I asked. "The woman he was closest too." Sam said then his phone starts to ring. "Yeah, you, uh, forgot your cell phone." Dean said and he tosses Sam his phone. Sam gives Dean a worried look as he answers it
"Hey Bobby." Sam answered and he listens to what Bobby had to say. "Ahhh, no. And, uh, it doesn't seem like she's slowing down any. You got anything?" he asked. "Hold on a sec, I'll put you on speaker." He said then he pushes a button his phone then Bobby's voice speaks through the phone.
"It says you need a bronze dagger, covered in the blood of a sailor, under the spell of the song." Bobby said. "What the hell does that mean?" Dean asked. "You got me. We're dealing with 3000 years of the telephone game here." Bobby said.
"Best guess?" Sam asked. "Well, the siren's spell ain't got nothing to do with any song. It's most likely some kind of toxin or venom. Something she gets in the vic's blood." Bobby sai. "And makes them go all Manchurian Candidate." Sam said.
"Uh, what do you think, she infects the men during sex?" I asked Bobby. "Maybe." Bobby said. "Supernatural STD." Dean jokes. "Well, however it happens, once it's done the siren's gotta watch her back. She gets a dose of her own medicine..." Bobby said then Sam finished his sentence. "It kills her." he said. "Like a snake getting iced by its own venom." Bobby said.
"So we just gotta find a way to juice one of the OJs in jail?" Dean asked. "Not that easy. None of those guys are under the spell anymore. Haven't got a clue where you're going to get the blood you need." Bobby said and Sam looks up. "I think I might have an idea." he said. "Be careful, boys. These things are tricky bitches. Wrap you up in knots before you know what hit ya. (Y/n), keep an eye on these boys." Bobby said and I chuckle. "I'll do my best, Bobby." I said.
"Dr. Roberts." Sam greets Roberts when we arrived in her office. "Agent Stiles. Can't stay away, huh?" she asked him. "Actually, uh, we're here on business. About the blood samples. The ones with the high...you know...oxytocin?" Sam said then Dean speaks up. "You still have them?" he asked and she nods.
"Good, we need them." I said and she furrows her brow at us. "What for?" she asked but then we hear footsteps behind us. "Excuse me, Dr. Roberts?" a man's voice calls out and we turn and see a young man with short dirty blonde hair and wearing a suit.
"Yeah?" Roberts asked as Dean pulls out his badge. "Excuse me, uh, we're a little busy here, buddy." Dean tells him and the guy pulls out his own badge. "Yeah, so am I, pal." he said then I turn to Roberts. "Doc, can you give us a sec, please?" I asked her and she backs away. "Sure." she said. "Thanks." I said and she leaves and we all turn to the newcomer.
"What's your name?" Dean asked him. "Nick Munroe. What's yours?" Munroe said. "I'm Special Agent Sam Stiles, these are my partners Dean Murdoch and (y/n) Case. What office are you from?" Sam asked him. "Omaha, Violent Crimes Unit. My SAC sent me down here to see about the murders." Munroe replied and I hum at this, suspiciously.
"You?" Munroe asked us. "D.C. Our Assistant Director assigned us." I replie. "Oh, which AD?" Munroe asked. "Mike Kaiser." Sam replied. "What are your badge numbers?" he asked us. "You're kidding, right?" Dean asked him, annoyed. "I'm just following protocol." Munroe said then Sam hands him a card.
"Look man, whatever. Just call our AD, he'll sort things out." Sam said and Munroe takes the card and dials the number. Bobby will give this guy a what for. I thought as Munroe said. "Yeah, Assistant Director Kaiser, please." silence then he continues. "Yes, sir. Hello. It's Agent Nick Munroe. I'm calling about two of your men and a woman. Stiles, Case and Murdoch? Uh, it seems that they've been put on my case by mistake?"
His face then goes white as I fight back a smile. "No, no, no, sir. I'm not questioning...Ahhh, no sir." he said. Then he hangs up his phone then comes back over to us. "I'm sorry, guys." he said. "Just don't let it happen again." Dean said.
"Where are you at with this?" Munroe asked us. "Where are you at with this?" I asked him. "Well, I was just about to run the, uh, perps' bloodwork." Munroe said. "I already checked, dead end." Sam said. "Oh yeah?" Munroe said, an eyebrow raised. "Yeah." Sam said.
"But get this. I feel like I found something that, uh, connects all the murderers." Munroe said. "Really?" I asked and Munroe nods. "They were all banging strippers....from the same club." he replied. "You don't say!" Dean said with sarcasm and Munroe looks between us.
"What do you say we, uh, go down there and check it out?" he asked us but a part of me wasn't really buying this. "Well, here's the thing, Nick. See, we're kinda lone wolves..." Dean said but then Sam talks over him. "You know what, that sounds like an excellent idea. Just...just give me a second with my partners and we'll, uh...one sec." Sam said then he turns to me and Dean.
"Come here." he said and we walk a few feet away from Munroe. "Dude, you two gotta stay with him." Sam tells us. "What?" Dean and I said. "Keep him outta the way." Sam said. "Why us?" I asked. "'Cause I gotta get the blood samples." Sam said.
"What the hell are we supposed to do with him?" Dean asked. "Just take him to the strip club...keep an eye out for the siren." Sam said and I sigh. "Fine, we'll do what we can." I said as Sam goes over to Roberts office.
"All right, we're taking my ride, no complaining about the tunes." Dean said as he, Munroe and I walk out on the parking lot of the hospital towards the Impala. "No way. You drive an Impala?" Munroe asked, excitedly. "Yeah." Dean said, surprised about Munroe's enthusiasm, while I eyed Munroe.
"It's a '67, right? It's a 327 four barrel." Munroe said. "Yeah, actually." said Dean, smiling.
"It's a thing of beauty." Munroe said. "Thanks." said Dean. "How the hell did you talk the Bureau into letting you drive your own wheels?" Munroe asked as he gets into the passenger seat of the Impala before I could.
I bite my lips and sigh at this as I get into the backseat and Dean gets into the driver's. Then we drive off.
Dean, Munroe and I were sitting at a table at the club while they were taking shots, I was nursing on the beer I had. I still was suspicious of Munroe. I don't know what but something about him was just not right and I just sat there going deep into my thoughts.
"Hey, Earth to (y/n)." I hear Dean said and I look over at him. "What?" I asked him. "Were you off in Neverland or what?" Dean asked me and I shake my head. "No..I was..." I said as I glance over at Munroe, who was eyeing me. "I was just thinking over this case." I replied.
"Yeah, I was thinking that myself. I mean, how does a girl talk four different johns into murder?" Munroe asked. "It's a crazy world." Dean said. "I guess." Munroe said then he looks between us and leans forward.
"Hey, can I level with you?" He asked and we nod. "I found something kinda weird." he said. "Well. You have bought your weird to the right spot. Lay it on us." Dean said. "I went to the crime scene this morning. Saw them bagging this up." Munroe said and he hands Dean some purple petals in a plastic bag.
"So I went back, uh, through all the files. It turns out a flower just like that was found at every crime scene." Munroe said. "Like it was left on purpose?" I asked him and Munroe nods. "You know, sometimes a serial killer will leave an object behind, like a calling card. But with this case? Tell you the truth, I got no idea what's going on." he said as I look at the flowers.
"I think I might. I've seen a flower like this before." Dean said as he looks over my shoulder at them. "Well, I'll go research it and you boys can stay here and continue to have fun, okay?" I said as I go to stand up. "You sure?" Dean asked me and I nod. "Yeah...I'll call you if I find anything." I said and Dean shrugs. "Okay..." he said and I place my hand on his shoulder. "Be careful. Try not to have too much fun." I said to him and he smiles and raises his glass.
I smile back at him then leave the club, pull out my cellphone and dial up a number. "Bobby...you know that Nick Munroe that called you earlier. I don't trust him...is there a way you could see if he really is from the FBI?" I asked him. "Way ahead of you, kiddo. I've been digging up on this Munroe guy ever since I got off of the phone with him." Bobby said.
"And?" I asked. "And there is no Munroe working for the FBI." Bobby said as I continue down the road. "That's not good." I said. "Yeah, so either he is another hunter or..." Bobby said. "Or he's the siren." I said. "It's a strong possibility. You don't think there's anyone else?" Bobby asked. "Maybe Doctor Roberts but the only thing connecting her is these flowers." I said as I hold up the bag and look at the flowers.
"What flowers?" Bobby asked me. "Uh, these purple flowers Munroe handed to me and Dean. Munroe said that these were left at each crime scenes, like a calling card." I said and there was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. "(Y/n)...sirens don't leave flowers or any kind've evidence that they were there." Bobby said and I stop in my tracks and my heart felt like it stopped.
"Bobby, I'll call you back." I said and I hang up and run back to the club. I look around and could not find Dean and Munroe, they were gone. "Oh, crap." I muttered then I dial up Dean's phone but he doesn't answer. I run out of the club and down the street as I keep trying to call him but no answer. I try Sam and there was no answer from him either.
"Damn it." I growled and I call Bobby. "Bobby...we have a problem..." I said as I run down the street.
I made it to the hotel and run to the door of our room and could hear voices from the other side. "See what I mean? We used to be in this together. We used to have each other's backs." I hear Dean say. "OK, fine. You know why I didn't tell you or (y/n) about Ruby, and how we're hunting down Lilith? Because you're too weak to go after her, Dean. You're holding me back. I'm a better hunter than you are. Stronger, smarter. I can take out demons you're too scared to go near." I hear Sam say and I gasp at this.
"That's crap." Dean said. "You're too busy sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Whining about all the souls you tortured in hell. Boo hoo." Sam spat and I open the door. "STOP!" I shout and I see both boys about to fight and Munroe stand over to the other side of the room.
"Oh, damn. I forgot about you." Munroe said as he glares at me and the boys stare at me. "Surprise, bitch." I said with a satisfied smile. "Well, we won't be needing you anyway. The boys want me now as their partner." Munroe said as he walks up to the boys and places his left hand on Dean's shoulder and his right hand on Sam's shoulder.
"What I have these boys is a genuine relationship. Built on trust and respect. You...you just drug people to get them to like you. It's pathetic." I sneered and Munroe's smile falters a bit as his eyes narrow at me, menacingly. Then he forms a tight smile on his lips. "You sure about that?" He said then he looks between the boys.
"Change of plans boys. Whoever kills Little Miss Perfect, gets to be with me forever." Munroe said, a gleeful glint in his eyes, and my eyes widen a bit as both Sam and Dean stalk towards me. "Sam...Dean...c'mon, You two can fight this." I said but then Sam throws a punch at me but I duck.
Both boys start to throw punches toward me and I do my best to duck and dodge but they did get a few punches in. "Boys, stop! I don't want to hurt you two." I yelled but then Dean punches me across the face, knocking me down. I land on my front then spit out some blood out of my mouth and start to push myself up off of the ground.
"Okay, you asked for it." I growled then I turn around, sharply, raised my hands and used my powers to knock the boys back. Well, Dean was knocked back but all my powers did to Sam was make him stumble back. I caught a quick glimpse of Munroe looking a bit surprised before Sam says. "Too weak." Then he comes up to me and we trade punches to each other.
"You know ever since you and Dean got together, I've been the third wheel. We don't talk as much as we used to, not as close as we used to be." Sam said then he goes to punch me. "You know that's not true." I said and we keep fighting each other.
"Sam, I'm really sorry about this." I said, sincerely, and I punch him in the stomach, making him double over, then I get down on the ground and sweep his legs with my feet, making him fall down. I get up only to be tackled down on the ground and hit the back of my head against the floor.
I shake my head and see it was Dean who tackled me and he stood over me and had an axe in his hands. Now I was terrified.
"Dean! Dean, please fight this bitch's spell. C'mon, you're stronger than this!" I yelled. "Do it. Do it for me, Dean." Munroe said with a sound of pleasure in his voice. Dean glares at me for a moment then said. "It's your fault I was sent to hell! If you didn't get yourself killed, I wouldn't have done those things in hell!" Dean yells and he starts to raise up his axe. "I should've killed you when I came back!" Dean growls and I was so horrified at what I was hearing that I couldn't react, I froze.
But then the axe was grabbed by Bobby, who came up behind Dean, then jabs him in the shoulder with a bronze knife, making him cry out. Munroe begins to run and Bobby turns, raises the knife and flings it at Munroe
"No. NO!" Sam shouts as the knife hits Munroe square in the back and he falls over, dead.
Later, the boys were leaning against the Impala and I stand in front of them as Bobby comes up and hands us all drinks. "Thanks." Sam and I said as we accept the bottles and Dean looks at it. "Soda?" Dean said, questioning. "You three are driving, aren't ya?" Bobby asked and we shrug as we take a sip then Sam looks at me and Bobby.
"Thanks, guys. You know, if you two hadn't shown up when you guys did..." Sam said and I nod. "Done the same for me, more than once." Bobby said. "Course, (y/n) was the smart one for suspecting Munroe. She called me and we figured it out."
The boys look over at me and I give them a small smile. "Thanks, (y/n)." Sam said and I nod. "You boys woulda done the same for me." I said while I glanced over at Dean who nodded and there was an awkward silence among us. Obviously, things that were said was hanging in the air.
"You three gunna be OK?" Bobby asked us.
"Yeah, fine."
"Yeah, good."
"Just dandy."
Bobby looks between us then tips his hat and heads back over to his car. "See ya." He said then he pauses and turns back to us. "You know, those sirens are nasty things. That it got to you, that's no reason to feel bad." He said and he gets in his car and drives away. The boys and I sip our drinks.
"You gunna say goodbye to Cara?" Dean asked Sam. "Nah, not interested." Sam said. "Really? Why not?" Dean asked him and Sam shrugs. "What's the point?" Sam said. "Well, look at you. Love 'em and leave 'em." I remarked and Sam looks at me then at Dean before he sighs.
"Guys, look, you know I didn't mean the things I said back there, right? That it was just the siren's spell talking?" he asked us as he looks between me and Dean. "Of course, me too." Dean said and he looks over at me. "I didn't mean what I said to you either." He said and I bite my lips and fold my arms across my chest. "You positive?" I asked him, suspiciously. "I swear." Dean said and I look him over, let out a sigh through my nose then nod.
Maybe I'm just in denial but I really want to believe that what Sam and Dean said to me was just the siren making them say it, especially Dean. But maybe that part of me that feels like absolute crap keeps knocking at the door in my mind and make me doubt my relationship with Dean.
No! I can't think that! I love Dean and Sam. Sam is my best friend and Dean, I love him with all my heart. I thought before Sam speaks up.
"'Kay. So...so we're good?" Sam asked. "Yeah, we're good." Dean said then the boys turn to me. "(Y/n)?" Sam asked me and I think for a moment before I nod. "Yeah, sure...we're good." I said then Sam enters the backseat and I go over to the passenger seat before Dean grabs my hand.
I turn to him and stares at me with his green eyes. "You know I didn't mean it." He said to me, softly. "I know you didn't, Dean. Still just a bit jarring from hearing you say it." I replied and Dean looks down, sadly, then he looks back at me.
"I'll make it up to you. I promise." Dean said and I smirk a bit. "You better, Winchester." I said, in a lighthearted tone, then I wink and he smiles and lets go of my hand and we head inside the car.

“Would it make me a bad person if I said he was hot?’ I asked Caroline as I sat in front of her vanity mirror as she curled my hair.
“Y/n,” Caroline frowned at me as she looked at me through the mirror, “he either killed or is trying to kill our friends. He’s a bad guy, so don’t even think about it.”
“I’m not saying I want to bang the guy or anything,” As I say that the the thought crosses my mind and it’s clear Caroline knows that as well as her frown deepens, “Care don’t get your Barbie hair in a twist. Even though his accent is dreamy and his blue eyes make my knees shake. I’m not going to try anything, obviously.” I say mockingly as Caroline watches me as if she’s somehow aged 100 years since our conversation began. Which you know isn’t possible because she’s literally immortal.
“Sometimes I don’t know what to do with you. You’re either arguing with someone or hitting on them. Or even both!” She says as she throws her hands up in emphasis, the curler unplugging itself during her action.
We both sit there in silence for a moment looking at the curler’s wire. I look up at her with a sly smile, “Does this mean we’re finally done? My ass hurts from sitting here and being your personal doll.” Caroline puts her hand on her hip with a displeased look on her face.
“I haven’t finished curling the other half of your head, so turn around and shut it. And didn’t you just say I was the Barbie doll?” She says matter-of-factly as she replugs in the curler and waits for it to heat back up.
“Ok well you are a Barbie doll, I’m more like that doll that Angelica had in Rugrats, y’know the one with fucked up hair and looks like she just got thrown into a blender.” I laugh at my own joke as Caroline rolls her eyes, a smile trying to make its way onto her face.
I glance at my dark eyeshadow that makes my y/e/c eyes bright.
“Why do I even have to go to this stupid dance, our school has like 14 a year. How does our town even have the budget for that? And why do we have to do weird decade dances?”
“Y/N you’re going to homecoming, end of story. It’s our senior year. This past year has been so crazy that we deserve a little normalcy.” She says as she finishes my last section of hair.
“Normalcy? You do realize that every dance we’ve had since last year has ended with someone dead or impaled right? It isn’t a Mystic Falls high school dance if it doesn’t end in blood!” Caroline just watches me in annoyance as she sprays my hair with hairspray, “accidentally” spraying some into my face.
“Bitch!” I cough out.
“Go get dressed!” She uses her strength to lift me up and push me over to her closet where my y/f/c dress is hanging.
I look over my shoulder, “I hate you.”
Caroline smiles, “Love you too brat.”
-------------
I listen to the live band as I sip on the disgusting drink in my hand. Caroline who was supposed to chaperone tonight left me to go yell at Tyler for his wolfy crush or whatever on Klaus. I’m seriously debating on just walking myself home, since Caroline was my ride, as I watch on in disgust as teenagers grind against each other to the fast song the band is playing in the backyard of Tyler’s house. Somehow Tyler was able to put together a huge party since the gym was flooded last minute. Caroline didn’t seem suspicious but I on the other hand always think the worst is going to happen at any time, and with my friend group's history with dances I wouldn’t be surprised if something was going to go down tonight. I'm about to grab my bag and leave before shit goes down when I hear a British accent come from behind me.
“Welcome everyone tonight,” I turn around, and low and behold that British fuck from Senior prank night is standing up on the stage in front of all of us, yapping about something.
“This is a long time coming,” He says as he watches someone from the crowd with a smirk on his face. I follow his eye line to see Stefan staring back at him. Yikes. I look back to the Brit but find his eyes staring in my direction. I don’t think he’s looking at me until I send a look of disgust at him which makes the smirk on his face deepen. Fuck me. Wait. No. I quickly turn around and start to make my way to the edge of the party hoping to make my escape before I get sucked into whatever bullshit the Scooby gang is going to try to drag me into. I smile to myself as I’m about to be successful in my escape as my vision is blocked by something. Said something bumps me backwards throwing me off balance and I wait to hit the ground as I start falling, but nothing comes. I look up to see Klaus grabbing ahold of the top of my arm, keeping me from falling down.
“What a fucking cliche,” I say to myself angrily. Klaus looks at me inquisitively.
“What’s a cliche?” He asks me with that stupidly hot accent as I rip my arm away from his hold and put another foot's distance between us.
“You catching me,” I tell him but he only looks confused, “Y’know in romcoms when the girl trips and falls but doesn’t actually fall because the random hot main guy catches her. It’s a big fucking cliche.” I say huffing as Klaus watches me with that stupid fucking smirk on his face.
“And I’m the main hot guy?” He asks, clearly trying to get me to go along with his current ego trip.
“No, you’re not. Ryan Gosling is the hot main guy or Paul Rudd,” I let out a satisfactory sigh at Paul Rudd, “You’re more of the evil boos villain in video games.”
“And what’s so wrong with being the villain?” He asks me as he takes a step towards me.
I look at him with what I can only guess looks like a “are you fucking kidding me” look.
“Literally everything. That’s literally the whole point of being the villain.” I put my hand out stopping him from stepping closer. Klaus watches me closely for a second too long. His gaze makes me quite uncomfortable because I can’t tell if he wants to kill me for speaking to him like I just did or applaud me for having the balls to. God, sometimes I just need to learn to shut the fuck up.
“Dance with me.” He states as he puts his hand out waiting for me to give him my hand in return. My gaze goes from his face to his hand multiple times before I shake my head in annoyance.
“No way dude,” I say as I start to book it back towards the house away from him. I don’t get far though because he’s in front of me again with a determined look on his stupidly hot face. God why does it always have to be the bad guys that are hot?
“Either you dance with me, or I start killing your friends off one by one. I wonder where that blond friend of yours is, Tyler’s little girlfriend.” He says with a dark glint in his eyes.
“Why?” I try to hold my ground even though I’m pretty sure I’m about to start pissing myself any second now.
“Why what?” he asks me as he watches me.
“Why do you want to dance with me? Theirs like 200 other girls here that I’m sure would just jump at the chance to dance with some British guy.”
Klaus just shrugs his shoulder as if he himself doesn’t even have an answer to the question.
“Because none of them have had the displeasure of catching my eye.”
“And let me guess, I have?” I ask him. He doesn’t give me an answer though, only reaches out his hand once again waiting for me to take it. Annoyed I slap my hand in his and drag him to the dance floor. Once I push us into the middle of a big group, I turn to him.
“Don’t be pissy if I step on your toes.” Klaus just lets out a huff of a laugh as he drags my body closer to him so my chest is touching his. A shudder goes through my body at the contact and I mentally curse myself for the reaction. Fuck he smells good. Jesus Y/N get a grip, he’s just a guy. A thousand-year-old hot guy, but still just a guy. I look up to find Klaus already staring at me, with a knowing smirk on his face. I just roll my eyes as I try to play it off cool as he sways me to the now slow song.
“So tell me, how did you become friends with my doppelganger and her little group of followers?” A weird feeling of sadness flows through me at his question as I realize he only asked me to dance for information on my friends.
“We grew up together. Small town like this everyone knows each other, sadly.” I say looking off to the distance and watching the other couples converse lovingly with one another.
“Why sadly?” He asks me, and for a second I could’ve sworn I heard actual curiosity. I glance back at him and shrug.
“I just hate this town. I never liked people knowing my business, and everyone here is so complacent with their normal lives. They never question anything or want to know more about anything other than what happens in our weird ass town.” I blush as I realize I just rambled on to a complete psycho about my feelings. But, the look on Klaus’s face isn’t one of annoyance or humor like the other people I’ve vented to usually have on their faces. His face turns from contemplation to understanding.
“I know what you mean,” He says as he expertly twirls me around, “when I was a boy I grew up in a small village where the wasn’t much chance for prospering. I loved the arts and knew I would never be able to do anything with it. It made me angry. So I can understand your resentment.” He tells me and for a second I forget that he’s the blood-thirsty monster ruining my friend’s lives.
“You like art?” He looks down at me with a soft smile as if the subject brings out a different side of him.
“I’ve loved it for over a thousand years. The way emotions can be shown through a canvas and bring out emotion so foreign is unlike anything else I found over a millennium of living,” His eyes trail down to mine, “What do you think?”
I nod softly in agreement, “I love art. Not really painting because I’m kind of shit at it, but sketching and just looking at art. Although I’m not a fan of this new-age art where someone can splash a canvas with a line of color and sell it for a million dollars. I like art that means something to someone. Art that when you look at it you can feel the emotions that the artist was feeling, every move of the brush stroke made with heart and emotion.” Klaus nods along to my rambling again with a soft look on his face. A look that I can’t quite decipher since it’s on the face of one of the scariest men in the world.
As the song comes to an end I reluctantly let go of Klaus’s hands. He stares at me for a moment and I think he’s just going to turn around and walk off realizing he didn’t get the information he wanted but then a small laugh escapes his lips and he shakes his head. I watch on in slight confusion wondering if he’s having some kind of stroke or something.
“You’re not like them you know,” he must notice my confusion because he continues, “like your friends. You’re nothing like them.” I pang of hurt pierces my chest as I turn away and start to walk off, “Well screw you too.”
“I didn’t mean that as an insult,” He says hastily as he grabs my arm turning me back towards him, “You’re friends they’re small-minded. They think of only themselves and not the world around them, or how amazing it can be.” I go to interrupt him and tell him not to insult my friends but he cuts me off.
“You need something bigger than this little town. Something that brings you life. When I originally saw you that night in the gym I thought you were just going to be like the rest of them. But you surprised me Y/n, and not many people can say that.”
I just stare at him in amazement for what seems like forever as I try to piece together everything he just told me. In my stupor though a woman approaches Klaus and whispers something to him which makes his originally light demeanor change to something dark. The woman walks away as Klaus looks at me once more.
“Whenever you decide you want to be a part of something bigger, see something other than this little town I’d be happy to show you. All you need to do is ask.” He tells me as he grabs my hand and places a chaste kiss upon it. I still can't get the balls to say anything as he gives me one last glance before he follows behind the woman.
What the actual fuck.
-------------
I walked up to my front porch after getting dropped off by Matt because I guess Tyler drugged Caroline with vervain to save her from a pack of mind-controlled hybrids so that’s why she couldn’t bring me home. Sometimes I really hate my friend group. Why can’t for once we deal with normal people's problems like pop quizzes or acne? Like why does not one person in that entire group have a pimple on their skin? That’s the most supernatural thing going on here.
I’m about to open my front door when a small envelope catches my eye at the bottom of my feet. I look over my shoulder and only see Matt as he waits for me to enter my house. I wave to him with the envelope in hand and walk inside my house. I hastily open the envelope and pull out a piece of thick canvas paper. The paper is covered with a beautiful sketch of what appears to be an open field covered in flowers with grazing horses in the distance. Being so engrossed in the sketch I didn't notice the small note on the back.
“There’s a whole world out there just waiting for you to experience, love. When you’re ready to experience it, I’ll be waiting.” – Klaus
