11/23/2011 you carved our names into my favorite fallen tree and I should have known that would be a metaphor for us in the future.
Kicking me while I was already down.
2024 that tree is rotten now, barely a stump of it left. There are branches of new trees growing from it, this is another metaphor.

There’s a distance, right? When you’re creating something. Whether that’s writing in some way or crafting or making art. You control what you’re doing. It’s a safe space. Sure, you’re pouring your heart and soul into it, but you decide how that goes. You decide what happens. You have a certain distance from it, one way or another. Being able to work through something that’s happening to you or has happened to you, even if it’s not something super traumatic, via something you have total control over? Something you can take a step back from? It helps. It brings a sense of safety. It gives you time to understand what the fuck is going on with your feelings and in your head. You can’t run from your own thoughts, but you can put them down in a notebook and leave that notebook under your bed or something. Does that make sense?  --from THE CRAWL: The (Un)Censored Oral History of Corroded Coffin's Rise to Fame by wearing_tearing
This quote from Eddie explaining why exploring your trauma through creative expression is so healing and helpful just hit home for me. It's often so hard to explain to people why one would write/draw/create darker things or explore darker topics in their art, and this really captures the why of it all. It's a way to get the thoughts out. It's catharsis. A necessary bloodletting, so to speak. It also helps you gain distance and perspective and wrap your head around what you experienced. It's so very helpful for healing.

It's a damn fun read, and I highly recommend it.

Gratitude is an action, a flow, a currency, a space for reflection, a nurturing, a feeding
I heat iron and feed it oil
I feed kindling to the flame
I offer my fears to feed my courage
weave gratitude into a molten mantle
I am a poet of iron and reception

Personal Rant-
I’m just really thankful to finally have a place to dump all my whump thoughts, and that I found a space online that is not only into this, but welcomes it. Very grateful to be here, thank you all for existing! This has been a big part of my healing journey as well and has been an outlet to release some uncomfortable (and sad, depressive, gross, and nauseating) thoughts and feelings that I’ve held in for a decade from countless traumas.

"Light Within"
In this dark world it can be hard to see the light. Sometimes we need only look inward to see the beautiful light within ourselves. I drew this piece while deeply depressed and at first only saw darkness on the blank page, but I kept drawing anyway... then I saw the light within myself.

"Riding the Waves of Fury: Finding Peace Amidst the Canvas of Conflict"
Yo, Wynter Blog fam, we’re diving deep into the ocean of emotions with a canvas that’s a straight-up visual explosion titled “Anger & War.” This isn’t your chill wave to ride; it’s a stormy sea of reds and blues clashing like rival gangs under a sunset sky. The painting throws punches with its vibrant hues, splatters, and strokes that scream louder than a back-alley showdown. Imagine rolling…

I’m going through this process of reconciliation within myself at the moment.
It’s a weird feeling... letting go of what I thought would have happened, to be present with what is.
Noticing the parts of me that are clinging to the river banks, while Life is begging me to keep going along with the flow - to be flexible, and let the raging water unravel my attachment to unmet expectations.
This is a conversation I had with Life recently. Writing it out like this helps me integrate it.
If you’re debating whether or not to do something and there’s very little clarity, don’t stress, whatever path you decide to take, you’ll always be able to come back and restore balance with yourself through these kinds of dialogues.
You’re always doing the best you can.

To chase away the thoughts swirling through my head while trying to sleep; I gave in to the need to work on this piece. It's felt impossible to convey any of my grief into art, but this feels closer than any before. Sometimes I wonder if Leah might be pushing my hand just a bit, the smallest nudge to keep painting.
Nearly three months. Why does it still feel like it's not real. Why does the night hold so much more pain than the day?
