“I’m going to find myself,” you said, examining the items in your trunk before nodding and slamming it shut.
“That’s not a proper response to the question ‘where are you going?’” Your cousin, Lily, was lying on her stomach on your bed, thumbing through the latest edition of a British newspaper.
“Yeah,” Mary said with a shrug of her shoulders, popping another piece of your maple candy in her mouth.
“Don’t eat all the sweets!” Marlene said with an indignant huff, handing you her remember-ball.
“Thanks Marls,” you said, popping open your trunk again and wrapping the ball in one of your sweaters.
“What kind of sweet is this again?” Lily asked, leaning over and grabbing a piece of maple candy from the box in Mary’s arms.
“It’s maple candy. They make it up in Vermont.” You said with a shrug. Your trio of British friends always appreciated your American candies. Lily had introduced you all during a summer excursion and the girls had decided to move to America to attend a post-graduate certification program at your alma mater, Ilvermorny alongside you. You had finished a year ahead of the other girls since you were able to combine your NEWTs with introductory courses to the program. You had been living in an apartment, you insisted to the girls that it was an apartment not a flat, with the girls for over a year. You thought about entering the workforce after graduating, but you decided that you wanted to take a three month long trip to ‘find yourself’.
“Are we close to Vermont?” Mary asked.
“Yeah, it’s right above us.” You nodded, drumming your fingers on your chin.
“What are you thinking about?” Marlene looked up at you.
“Do you think I’ll be able to find a place in the train station to exchange my dragots for gallons?” You hummed.
“Galleons, love, and no. You’ll have to go to Diagon Alley. It’s in London, not too far from the station. I’ll draw you a map.” Lily said, summoning a piece of parchment.
“No Lily,” you held your hand up, “that defeats the whole purpose of what I’m doing. I’m going to travel across a few countries in Europe and find my way myself.” You shut your trunk again and nodded.
“Is it time?” Mary asked, setting down the candies.
“Okay,” you said with a sad smile, “no tears! It’s only three months! I’ll be back at the end of the summer.” The girls are wrapped their arms around you, hugging you tightly and placing kisses on the top of your head.
“Good luck, darling.” Lily smiled.
“Be safe!” Marlene called.
“Have lots of hot sex!” Mary laughed. You laughed and gave a small wave before taking a deep breath and apparating to the center of London.
London
It was the middle of June in London. You had packed dresses, and skirts, and shorts, and tank tops, and tops that barely covered your midriff. But it was the middle of June in London, so it was pouring rain and it was very chilly. Within a few minutes of you being outside, you were soaking wet. You were wiping the rain from your eyes and scanning for somewhere to duck into when you saw a sign that said: The Leaky Cauldron. Somewhere, in the deep recesses of your mind, you could vaguely remember Mary mentioning something about having a pasty and a pint at the Leaky Cauldron. You never could remember what the hell a pasty was, but you figured any magical place with beer was a good place to start.
You ran into the bar and seemed to attract the attention of everyone inside. You sent everyone a small smile before taking a few wet, sopping footsteps to the bar and pulling yourself onto a barstool, your trunk at your feet.
“What can I get ya, love?” The bartender asked, quirking an eyebrow at your appearance.
“I know I must look kinda crazy,” you said, raking a hand through your wet hair, “this is my first time in London. I wasn’t prepared for rain.”
“Happens to the best of us,” the bartender shrugged, “fancy a pint to warm up?”
“Sounds good. I’ve heard Guinness is popular here.”
“It is. A pint of that then?”
“Yes thank you! Oh, I heard that you might be able to change my American money.” You said, digging around in your wallet.
“Sure. You have one of those green dollar bills?” The bartender asked. You placed a dragot on the table.
“Can you change that for a galleon?” You asked. The bartender released a huff of respect.
“An American witch? Welcome to Diagon Alley.” He winked and you suddenly became far more aware of the other witches, wizards, and magical folk in the bar. “We have rooms upstairs. Fancy to stay a night or two? We can send your bags up and you can warm up by the fire with a nice glass of firewhiskey.”
“Thanks. I’ll meet you over by the hearth then.” You said with a wink, taking a moment to wave your wand and dry yourself before snuggling into a chair with a thick blanket. The bartender floated over your drink and you held it up to him in thanks before taking a large sip. You thumbed through a volume of Quidditch through the Ages that had been lying on an empty table. Quidditch had always fascinated you. It wasn’t very common in the states, Quadpot being the more popular sport.
“You are reading my absolute favorite book in the world.” A man said, sitting on the plush seat in front of you.
“Oh is it?” You asked, setting your book down and taking in the sight of the man in front of you. Although Mary had been a little crass, you had every intention of riding around Europe…and you weren’t only talking about the trains. Your first candidate was an incredibly promising one to boot, he was tall, with messy dark hair, warm brown eyes, and a pair of round glasses.
“You really have no idea who I am, do you?” The boy gestured to the bartender for another firewhiskey.
“Am I supposed to?” You asked with an easy chuckle. The boy leaned in close and flashed you a smile.
“I’m kind of a big deal.”
“What makes you such a big deal?”
“I’m the chaser for the Ballycastle Bats.” The boy looked at you expectantly, waiting for you to swoon. But you didn’t.
“Oh!” It hit you, “Oh! That’s a quidditch position! Right?” You thumbed through your book until you found the page that described all the positions.
“You really don’t know anything about quidditch?” The boy quirked an eyebrow.
“I’m American,” you shrugged, “I’m more of a quadpot girl.”
“Well, Miss America,” the boy leaned in closer so his nose was practically touching yours, “I’m James, consider me your guide to Diagon Alley for the foreseeable future.”
“James, I have a question for you.” You said, tucking one of James’s unruly dark locks behind his ear.
“Anything love,” James’s voice sounded breathy.
“Do quidditch players fuck better than quadpot players?” You said with a grin. James nodded and matched your smile.
“Why don’t we find out.”
You realized at some point later that James had never paid for his drink but you really didn’t care because James had taken you up to your hotel room and was deep inside you while rubbing your clit. You were on your back, his face close to yours as your right hand rested on his sharp jawline and your left hand was gripping his bicep. You didn’t cast a silencing spell and you were sure the other patrons of the Leaky Cauldron were cursing your name because you were screaming so loud. The firewhiskey was a warm blanket across your skin and your cheeks were hot as James pounded into mercilessly.
“Godric, you’re so fucking hot.” James said, his glasses foggy and his hair sticking to his forehead.
“Keep rubbing my clit,” you moaned as you jacked your leg higher and James was able to hit a deeper angle inside you. James connected his lips with yours and you moaned loudly into his mouth as you came. You squeezed tightly around him and James came a little after, burying his head in the crook of your neck and whimpering as he came, hot white ribbons inside you.
The two of you talked for hours after, he tried to explain the rules of Quidditch to you and you would just laugh. James made good on his promise, too, he gave you a tour of Diagon Alley and wizard London before you apparated up to Scotland.
The Scottish Highlands
The girls told you all about the quaint village next to their school in the highlands. You spent your days traveling the highlands, sitting in sweet cafes with a scone and a mug of milky tea, reading on a boat on Loch Ness, and visiting all the historic and gorgeous castles. You were going to spend your final day in Hogsmeade before making your way to your next destination. You spent the day wandering Hogsmeade, dipping in and out of sweet shops, joke shops, and little book stores. You settled yourself in a pub called the Three Broomsticks and sipped on a hot butterbeer while reading a book that you had found at Tomes and Scrolls: The New Edition of the Patronus Spellbook.
“That’s a great book you’re reading,” a voice said, disrupting you from your thoughts. You rolled your eyes. Did all British wizards use the same pick up lines?
“Oh really?” You were sort of tired after all the days of apparating around Scotland and wanted a quiet night in the corner of the pub.
“Yes. It’s one of my favorites.” The stranger said, sitting next to you. You looked up at him finally and took him in. He was tall, skinny, with thin light scars on his face and hands. He was wearing a knitted sweater and a very worn in pair of trousers.
“Why’s that?” You asked, still uninterested.
“I wrote the forward.” He said with an easy shrug, “Remus Lupin. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh wow,” you were interested now, “it’s a pleasure.”
“I didn’t mean to disturb your reading, I was just a bit excited. The new edition came out yesterday, I was just nipping to the shops to purchase a copy for myself and have a drink to celebrate.”
“So Remus, do you do other things besides writing forewords?” You asked, asking for another drink from the barkeep for Remus.
“Ah thank you,” Remus accepted the pint and took a long sip, “I am a professor at Hogwarts, I teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.”
“Oh, so you’re Professor Lupin then, aren’t you?” You said, leaning in. Remus looked down at you and gave you a wolffish grin.
“That I am.”
You had many, many more drinks with Remus as he told you all about his first few years of working as a professor and the various difficulties that came with it. He talked all about his new patronus research until patronus didn’t sound like a real word anymore.
“I have a confession for you, Professor.” You said, a goofy smile on your face.
“Anything love.” Remus rested his hand on your thigh.
“I have a fantasy,” you said, leaning in so your nose was practically touching his, “about fucking a professor in his office.”
You and Remus stumbled back on the path that lead from the village to the school. It was a gorgeous, gargantuan castle that was unlike anything you had ever seen before. You made a mental note to tease your cousin about her downplaying her school. He had a gorgeous office, with high ceilings, books and bars of chocolate strewn about various tables. There was a large wardrobe and about three cups of discarded tea resting on a nearby trunk.
“This is a gorgeous office,” you said, sitting on the corner of one of the large trunks. Your fingers ran over a long skeleton candle that rested on his desk.
“Thank you,” Remus said, setting his book down and standing so his body was between your legs, “can I get you a cup of tea?”
“You could get me something else,” you pulled Remus down by the collar of his sweater until his face was level with yours and you kissed him hard. He kissed you back, pulling at the hem of your shirt until it was up and over your head. You stood and had to extend your neck all the way to account for the distance between you and him. His large hands went down to cup your breasts, gently. You realized that his hands were shaking. You pulled back and gave Remus a small smile.
“We don’t have to,” you said, softly, “if you don’t want to.”
“No,” Remus said with a light shake of his head, “I do want to. I’m just a bit nervous. You’re so beautiful.”
“Oh Professor Lupin,” you said, pressing a sweet kiss to his lips, “you are quite a charmer.”
Remus lifted your head with his finger and kissed you again. You helped him out of his sweater this time and saw the long, thin pale scars that traced around his chest like the ones on his face. You kissed along Remus’s jawline and down his neck to his chest. Remus threw his head back and exhaled a soft moan.
You kissed down Remus’s chest until your nose bumped against his belt buckle. He looked down and you and gave you a small nod. You unbuckled his belt and kissed up and down his length. Remus released a strangled moan and you placed a bit of pressure on his balls.
“You can be loud for me,” you said before taking a deep breath and taking as much of him as you could into your mouth.
“Oh fuck,” Remus gasped, gripping the edge of his desk. You continued blowing him until Remus’s breathing picked up and you pulled off. Remus whimpered softly and looked at you as you stood and slipped out of your own pants. You moved Remus so he was standing over you while you had your back to the desk and you hoisted yourself on, spreading your legs wide and dropping your panties to the floor.
“Come on Professor Lupin,” you said with a smile, “dive right in.”
Remus grabbed you by the waist and spun you around, pushing your front into the desk harshly. You felt him rubbing the head of his cock against your folds before pushing in deeply. You moaned and grasped for purchase on the desk. Remus’s fingers dug into your hips as he snapped his hips against you, again and again and again.
His lips attached themselves to your neck and one of his large hands left your hip to grasp harshly at your tit.
“Rub your clit,” he rasped. You started rubbing your clit rapidly, your moans jumping off the cavernous walls. Remus came and you came after moaning and sweating. Remus stayed inside you, resting his head against your shoulder.
Remus left for a moment to nip to the toilets and you tried to apparate out of his office and back to your room in Hogsmeade but couldn’t. You didn’t feel that drunk, why couldn’t you apparate?
“You can’t apparate inside Hogwarts, so stop trying. You look like you’re going to pop a blood vessel.” Remus said, walking back in and holding a bar of chocolate out to you.
“Thanks,” you took a bite from the chocolate and smiled at Remus. He walked you back to Hogsmeade and left you standing in front of your tavern with a lingering kiss and a bar of chocolate.
Paris
Everyone had always talked about dirty Paris was and you had honestly considered cutting it from your program altogether. Sitting on Rue Victor Hugo at a cafe with a croissant and the deepest, creamiest hot chocolate you had ever tasted as you took in the sights and sounds of the French capital, you were very happy that you decided to keep Paris on your list. You were even happier to watch the various European men make their way to and from work and pass by the cafe in their tailored suits, finely pressed trousers, smart sweaters, and loafers. You looked around you for a moment before snapping your fingers to light your joint. You waved your hand a second time to disguise your joint as a cigarette-a trick you had learned from one of your friends at Ilvermorny.  Lily would have had a cow had she known that you were smoking weed in public, but she what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her.
“Une autre chocolat chaud s’il vous plait,” another hot chocolate please you gestured at the waitress. She came around with a fresh cup and you set your sights on a very attractive man who looked a bit out of place. He had rode up on a motorcycle and took his helmet off, securing it to the bike. His ran a slender, ring covered hand through his long dark and shook his head as he got off the bike. He was wearing an expensive looking leather jacket with a thin dark t-shirt underneath, a pair of distressed looking jeans, and a pair of Doc Martens. He took his jacket off to reveal thin, winding tattoos on his arms and chest. You hoped he would cross the street and take one of the seats at the cafe. He was digging around in his jean pockets for a cigarette when another boy turned the corner onto the street of the cafe. The other boy looked quite a bit like the motorcycle boy but…cleaner. He was wearing a tailored pair of trousers, a crisp white button down, and a smart jacket. His dark curls were nicely styled and his thin, long fingers gestured down quickly so the cigarette between the motorcycle boy’s fingers fell to the ground. One of the second boy’s crisp loafers stamped on the cigarette and he pursed his lips.
“Sirius, what are you doing?” The second boy shook his head.
“Shove off Reg,” motorcycle boy, Sirius, said, raking a hand through his hair.
“Don’t call me that. My name is Regulus, you know that. You can’t keep running, Sirius. It isn’t sustainable.” Regulus looked at Sirius with an expression of pity.
“I just…I don’t care about it, Reg. I don’t care about any of it. You’re better at this anyway. You can deal with all that family stuff better than I can. Just let me grab a coffee and a cigarette and I’ll see you later.” Sirius did not wait for Regulus to respond. He marched across the street to the cafe you were at and you had to force yourself to pretend you were very interested in your menu. Regulus sighed and threw his hands in the air before coming back the way he came.
“Madame, un cafe. Merci.” Ma’am, a coffee. Thanks. Sirius barked at the waitress.
“Oui Monsieur.” Yes sir. The waitress responded, rolling her eyes.
“Do you always eavesdrop?” Sirius asked, taking a seat at the table next to yours.
“Sorry,” you shrugged, “you and that other guy put on quite a show.”
“Oh my brother Regulus? Yes we’re quite the pair.” Sirius rolled his eyes as the waitress set down his coffee. He took a sip and then paused.
“Something wrong with your coffee?” You asked.
“You’re smoking weed.” He said, sniffing in your direction.
“How do you know that?” You asked.
“You’re a witch, aren’t you.” Sirius grinned at you.
“So you must be a wizard then.” You laughed.
“You have to teach me that trick,” Sirius moved his chair so it was close to yours. You ran your tongue the bottoms of your front teeth.
“I bet I could teach you a lot.”
Turns out that Sirius got off on pissing off his family so in hindsight it wasn’t all that surprising that he took you back to his family’s chateau in the middle of the afternoon. They were gone, out, at some event but Sirius pulled you to the middle of the drawing room in front of a roaring fireplace. You sat down on the rug and took in the warmth and glow of the fire.
“So you’re a rich boy, then?” You said teasingly as Sirius pulled off his shirt and laid down in front of the fireplace with you.
“Filthy rich,” Sirius responded, pulling you close to him and connecting his lips with yours. You did not break apart as he laid you down in front of the fire, pulling off your clothes with an animalistic intensity. Sirius was devouring you, his teeth and tongue all over your face, neck, and tits. He barely prepared you at all, just pushing in without warning. Your nails pressed into his shoulder blades as you looked at him, ready to snap about his hasty action when his thumb began rubbing hard on your clit. You had your legs wrapped around him as you were biting his collarbone to keep from moaning.
Sirius pulled out of you and flipped you over so you were on top and he turned you so you were facing away from him.
“Get loud baby. Use me,” he said, his hands planted firmly on your hips as you sunk down on him. You were moaning intensely as you moved up and down, the new position providing a new angle for you. You came hard, your fingers searching for purchase on the rug as Sirius fucked you through your orgasm.
“Are you close?” You turned back to look at Sirius. He looked gorgeous, his sweaty curls plastered in his forehead and his hands heavy on your waist, a look of concentration in his eyes.
“Uh, not yet.” He barked out, a vein popping in his forehead.
“Spread your legs a little further,” You said, pushing at Sirius’s ankles. He did what you said and you sucked on your finger for a moment before pushing it between his cheeks and into his asshole. Sirius was moaning loudly now. It sounded like a name or something, he was moaning “Moony” over and over again. He was so loud that you didn’t hear the door open and notice people entering the house until Sirius was cumming intensely inside you as Regulus and a woman who could have only been Sirius’s mother were glaring down at you. You gathered your clothes quickly and apparated out before Sirius had finished lighting his cigarette.
Massachusetts
You were exhausted and thoroughly ready to sleep in your own bed by the time you arrived back home. You threw your trunk by the front door and called out,
“I’m back witches!”
Lily, Marlene, and Mary swarmed you, peppering you with hugs and kisses and beginning to hear all about your travels and see the souvenirs you brought back for them. You filled them in and by the time you were talking about your escapades with the athlete, the professor, and the heir, you were even more ready for bed.
“Well have a good night darling. Also I’m so sorry but I used the last tampon a few hours ago, I’m going to nip to the shops in the morning,” Mary said.
“Leave it to Mary to use the last period product in this house knowing full well that we’ve all been synced for the past few years.” Marlene playfully tossed a pillow at Mary.
“Wait,” something dropped in your stomach, “you’re all on your period? Right now?”
“Yeah, started two days ago. Why? You haven’t started yours?” Lily asked.
“No. No I haven’t.” You started chewing your lip, “Anyone have a pregnancy test?”
“In the last drawer of the bathroom,” Mary pointed out as you shot up out of your seat to take the test. Your leg bounced anxiously as you waited to see the results of the test.
“Okay love, I’m sure your period is just all messy from traveling and-oh my…” Lily’s jaw dropped as she looked at your positive test,
“Who’s the father?” Marlene asked.
“I…uh…I have no idea.” You said as you thought back to the athlete, the professor, and the heir.

Sirius Black after escaping the Black Manor House, bloody and bruised and sobbing his heart out, comes to James’s house where Remus and reader already are. Reader gets so incredibly protective of Siri and just wraps herself around him, hardly even letting fleamont near him in fear of him getting hurt again. She falls asleep in his lap, still curled around him like a shield.
Hiii, ty for the request!!! Hope this is okay, warnings: pet names, mentions of bruises and blood, angsty, fluff, mentions of food/drinks, (0.7k)
You don't expect anybody to barge inside Potters's home, so late at night. You, James and Remus have been talking and inventing a plan on how to free your Sirius from the nightmare, that is his household for hours, hell even days now.
So when you see him standing in front of the door all bloody, bruised and so so sad, you almost think you've gone crazy.
But you haven't, he's really there. Sirius knew, he had to get out of his house. And even if he knew it wasn't going to be easy, he didn't expect his family to fight so hard to keep him there. It all happened so quickly, one minute, he was casting one spell after another and the next, he was knocking on James's door with blood running down his arm and face.
"Oh my gosh, Sirius!" you throw yourself around his neck, hugging him tightly just to really make sure, you aren't imagining him.
Sirius lets out a sigh of relief, upon having you finally back in his arms, even if his whole body hurts like crazy. And unintentionally, he can't help it, the tears start to run down his cheeks as his body shakes with the sobs.
You don't say anything, almost as startled by the state of Sirius as he is, you just hold him more tightly.
The guys give you a few minutes before they get too impatient and go to hug Sirius tightly. You step back for a moment, giving them some space, because you know they need it, too.
Eventually, when Sirius's soft sobs stop and there appears a smile on his face, you say, " come on handsome, let's get you cleaned up."
You take his hand and lead him to the bathroom as Remus and James make some tea and something to eat.
You sit Sirius down on the tub and bring out some gauzes and antiseptic spray. You start to gently wiping away the blood and cleaning out the cuts.
Sirius tiredly, defeated just sits there and lets you clean him up. His eyes close on their own accord as your loving hands patch him up.
You work as quickly and as gently as you can, but every now and then you hear, Sirius wince.
"I'm sorry, sorry" you say worriedly, "I'm almost done."
"It's okay, sweetheart," Sirius answers softly with hoarse voice.
You stop, what you are doing and sigh, " I'm sorry, Siri, that....that you had to go through this on your own. I'm sorry, we weren't there."
Sirius opens his eyes to look at your pretty, but very upset face," sweetheart, there was nothing you could have done. Nothing. And it's okay, if you weren't there, you are here now, that's all that matters to me," Sirius tries to give you is best smile and it works. Even if he looks like he just went through hell and back, his smile looks the smile as it always does.
You sniffle a little and smile back at him, putting your hands through his wild hair, you whisper, " I love you, Siri."
"I know," Sirius says," I love you, too. So much."
You lean in to give him a kiss, but hesitate, not wanting to make him hurt with all of the cuts.
Sirius, apparently, doesn't care about it, because he pulls you close to him and kisses you. His whole face feels like it's on fire from the pain, but all he cares about is that he's safe and he's got you with him.
When you pull away with giddy smile, you quickly go to your room for some Bruisewort Balm (healing cream) and some clothes, he can change into.
Once Sirius is looking like himself again, you go hand in hand to the living room, where the tea and food and relieved James and Remus wait for you two.
You make yourselves comfy on the couch there. You snuggle Sirius close the whole time, not intending on ever letting him go again.
And as the sun starts to rise, everybody falls asleep in the living room, too exhausted to move to the much comfier beds. But you are as comfy as one can be, as you hold on tightly to your Sirius.

Sirius waited until Abby was out of the room before speaking. Remus had gone back about whatever he was doing and acted as if nothing weird and uncomfortable just happened.
“So, are you going to say anything about any of that?”
Sirius questioned, feeling his temper building. Remus turned around with a raised eyebrow.
“What would you like me to say?”
Sirius scratched his head before sitting down.
“Oh, I don't know…maybe You just had your ass handed to you Sirius or Sirius, I’m awfully sorry that your kid hates you.”
Remus rolled his eyes. It was time for dramatic Sirius to make his entrance.
“Don’t you think that you are being a tad over dramatic?”
Sirius’ mouth dropped.
“Dramatic? I’m being dramatic?! Excuse me!”
Remus decided it was time to cut in.
“Yes, you are being dramatic. If you were expecting Abby to suddenly accept you and act as if nothing happened then you are crazy. Sirius, you need to accept the fact that this is a lot for a 13-year-old girl to take in. Up until a few months ago, she was used to it just being Regulus and Y/n that she had to answer to. Now you are into the mix and it's a lot for a child. Sirius, you owe both Regulus and Y/n a few thousand thank yous.”
Sirius was silent for a moment. He hated admitting that Remus was right but he was. Sirius did owe both Regulus and yourself a lot.
“Damn it, Remus. Why do you always have to be right? I just hate having to face that snarky look on Regulus’ face when I thank him.”
Remus shook his head. Why he was slightly surprised that Sirius was acting like this was beyond him. Sirius always hated telling Regulus thank you or that he was right about something. That was most likely one of those things that would never change.
“Yes, you should. As Abby told you, you are also lucky to still have your brother. This is a chance for the two of you to hash out your differences and be brothers again. I would take it if I were you.”
Sirius sat back down and lost himself in his thoughts. Maybe Remus was right. This was a chance to work out his differences with Regulus. The only question was how would he go about it?”
“The next thing I know you are going to tell me to let go of the fact that I’m jealous of seeing Y/n so happy with Regulus.”
Remus leaned back in his chair.
“Since you brought it up…whatever you think can and would happen between Y/n and yourself…just don’t. Y/n loves Regulus and she won’t leave him. You burned that bridge a long time ago. If you try anything to mess with them I will take you out back and beat you.”
Sirius stared at Remus with wide eyes before nodding. While Sirius would agree to Remus’ demands, that didn’t mean that he wouldn't internally groan every time Regulus touched you in front of him.
“Okay, okay…I’ll be good.”
(meanwhile)
You were barely awake when there was a knock on the door. Regulus groaned before getting up and quickly dressing. You followed his lead and made the bed.
“If it’s Sirius, I swear I will punch him.”
Regulus grumbled as he opened the door. He was relieved to see Abby and Harry on the other side of the door. Abby looked annoyed while Harry was clearly on edge himself. Regulus couldn’t help but feel sorry for them. Both of their lives were now in an uproar that neither asked for.
“Did he run you lot off that quickly? Not that I blame either of you for leaving. Being in the same room with him made me want to fight.”
Abby walked into the bedroom and sat down on the bed with a frown on her face while Harry moved to the window. You couldn’t help but smirk at the visible resemblance between Abby and Regulus when they were annoyed at the same person. Turning your attention to Harry, you couldn’t help but think about how much he reminded you of James standing there.
Like Regulus, you too worried about how much having Sirius back in your lives and the new upcoming war with Voldemort would throw Harry and Abby’s lives into a complete tailspin?
“No…maybe…Remus told me to come find you both since other members of their Order possy are turning up. I did tell Sirius off a bit. He seemed slightly surprised.”
Regulus couldn’t help the smirk.
“You told him off?”
Abby chose to not mention the fact that she told Sirius about the horocrux. She would let Regulus assume that Remus let that ball drop on Sirius.
“Just that he owes you and mum a lot. There were some other things too but that isn’t important right now. What is important is how are we going to get along with the members of the Order that don’t like us…for whatever reason.”
Regulus briefly considered asking Abby “what other stuff” were said but decided to focus more on the lot of people that he was stuck in a house with. The last thing that Regulus really wanted to do was be involved with the order, however, he knew there was little choice. Regulus would much rather just things the four of you, just like they had been for so long.
The four of us.
That was exactly how it had been for some time. After inheriting Harry, “the three of us” became “the four of us” and that had always been enough for Regulus.
“Things will be just fine. It will take some getting used to but we’ll manage.”
You said, in a calming tone before going over to fix Abby’s hair. She looked up at you with a frown.
“That means that we have to be nice and social?”
She questioned, making you giggle. It didn’t matter that she was actually Sirius’ daughter…she acted just like Regulus.
“The two of you really have no chill.”
You replied. Regulus and Abby exchanged a frown that said “we hate people.”
“No, I just don’t like anyone down there. I didn’t like them as a kid and that really hasn’t changed now. I also haven’t forgotten that they all essentially ignored our presence until Harry and Abby became friends with Ron. Over the years, they could have at least checked in or remotely acted nice. I also haven’t really forgotten that they were supposed to be your friends. Friends don’t do each other the way that they dropped you like a bad habit.”
Regulus grumbled. He would forever have a slight dislike for every member of the order for how they treated you. It didn’t matter if Regulus was a death eater or not, they were your friends and should have been there for you.
How you were so kind and full of grace amazed Regulus. Your grace and dignity. That was two of the many things that Regulus loved about you. Even if someone did you down right dirty, most of the time you still acted with kindness. That didn’t mean that you wouldn’t put someone in their place if they needed to be, however.
“Dad is right. Mum.”
Abby replied, casually.
You turned your attention back to Regulus giving him a wary look. Abby calling the two of you “Mum” and “Dad” again had to be her way of asserting that the two of you being her parents would not change simply because Sirius was now in the mix.
“Right or not, we can’t just go down there and act like complete assholes.”
“Oh, I can.”
Regulus grumbled. You turned your attention to Harry, choosing to ignore Regulus’ comment.
“How are you feeling, dear?”
Harry shrugged.
“A bit uncomfortable, I guess.”
Regulus only had to agree with Harry on that one. This whole experience was about to be uncomfortable as hell.
“We might as well get this over with.”
Regulus murmured.
As expected, the dinner was an awkward meeting from hell. You found yourself sitting silently while members of the original Order carried on as if Regulus and yourself weren’t even there. You nearly made a comment a few times but decided not to. It didn’t seem to be worth it. Only Remus and Sirius made efforts to speak to the two of you. Regulus ignored both sitting in icy silence.
Both Molly and Arthur seemed almost afraid to speak to the two of you. Not that you really blamed them. From where they were sitting both Regulus and yourself had to seem pretty intimidating. Neither of you looked especially friendly. The two of you had to look like the stereotypical members of the House of Black at the moment…cold, icy, and haughty.
You were still a bit bitter about Molly abandoning your friendship when you married Regulus. Speaking to Molly about anything other than the children was almost too painful. You were not about to admit to Molly nor anyone else in the Order that they had hurt you. Old wounds were best left unspoken of and left in the dark. It seemed best, to you, to appear as if their abandonment really caused you no emotional harm at all. If there were one thing that you learned from having Walburga Black as a mother-in-law it would be to be able to hide your true emotions like a champ.
For Regulus, the dinner was just as awkward for him as it was for you…even if he didn’t let on. He, like you, was also thankful that his family taught him the art of being stoic and appearing “unfeeling.” It didn’t matter how many times Sirius nor anyone else, for that matter, tried to speak to him or appeared to try to get a rise out of him Regulus didn’t crack.
He wasn’t sure why anyone in The Order wanted anything to do with him anyway? To them, he was a death eater. He was dangerous. It didn’t matter the good that he did. It wouldn’t matter that he nearly died trying to stop Lord Snakeface. So what if Regulus wrecked his body trying to stop Voldemort? None of it would make any difference to anyone in this room (except you). In The Order’s eyes, Regulus would always be “tainted.”
“And in a way, I suppose that I am just fine with that.”
Regulus thought coldly. He would much rather someone hate him for some hair-brained stupid idea than blow smoke up his ass and pretend to care for him.
The next morning, Regulus sat at the kitchen table reading The Daily Prophet when Sirius came into the room. He didn’t look up from the newspaper as his older brother sat down. Regulus quietly tried to focus on the words in front of him instead of thinking about the last time that he and Sirius were in this room together.
The morning before he left…before everything changed…
Sirius, meanwhile, sat quietly for a moment. He wanted to say something to Regulus. The silence was making him nutty!
“So, don’t speak to me all at once.”
Sirius finally commented. Regulus didn’t look up from the newspaper.
“What would you like me to say?”
He questioned, keeping his voice cold and emotionless. Sirius ran a hand through his hair.
“I don’t know, Reggie. Just say something, anything. This silence…I don’t like it. You can tell me that you hate me if you want.”
Regulus still didn’t look up. The annoyance of Sirius calling him “Reggie” was starting to simmer.
“My name is Regulus. Don’t ever call me Reggie again, if you want to live.”
Regulus’ casual threat didn’t bother Sirius much. As kids, Regulus threatened to kill Sirius at least once a day. Being an adult and doing it seemed to be no different.
“Y/n calls you Reggie.”
Sirius commented.
“Y/n is my wife. She can call me anything that she likes. You…well we both know what you are to me.”
Sirius groaned.
“Right, I’m the blood traitor. I’m the one who shamed the most ancient and noble house of Black…blah blah blah I’m a no-good bastard that ran off and left everything to you.”
“Now I don’t have to say it.”
Regulus replied. He half expected Sirius to start yelling at that. When he didn’t Regulus took a breath.
“I wasn’t going to say any of that because none of its true. You made your choice because that was what was best for you. It didn’t matter if that meant leaving me in this house and making me feel as if I truly meant nothing at all to you. My suggestion is just to let all of that shit go because I don’t want to say anything more about it.”
Sirius sighed. There it was. That was the truth that he needed to hear. He did hurt Regulus and Regulus hadn’t forgotten it.
“It wasn’t to hurt you. I would have taken you with me but I knew that you wouldn’t go. That’s why you were the good son.”
Regulus finally looked up from his newspaper.
“Sirius, I said that I do not want to talk about what happened. It's over and time we both moved on. Neither Y/n nor Abby needs the aggravation.”
Sirius remained quiet for a moment.
“Abby said that I owe both Y/n and yourself a few thousand thank yous for everything and she’s right. I appreciate you taking her in and looking after her…”
Regulus only nodded.
“I would hope that you would have done the same for me, had shoes been on the other foot.”
“You know that I would. Regulus, I get that we aren’t best buddies anymore but you are still my brother. I also know that I did Y/n wrong with the whole getting another girl pregnant but…she seems genuinely happy with you. I think that we both know that I would never have made any kind of a decent husband. She deserves to be happy.”
Regulus again looked up. Sirius was definitely right about that one. You deserved to be happy more than anyone else in the world.
“Yes, she does deserve to be happy and I’m happy that I am able to be the one to make her happy.”
Sirius leaned back in his chair and looked around the kitchen.
“Tell me that mum and dad were halfway decent to her.”
Regulus finally gave up on reading his newspaper and sat it down. There was no way that he was going to escape Sirius.
“Believe it or not, I think that Mum and Dad liked her better than she did either of us. I think that they felt awfully shitty about her family disowning her for loving me. They saw it as an act of revenge for stealing a Potter child since the Potters got you. Dad adored her. He said that she was the one bright spot in our family and I couldn’t agree more. Marrying her was the one thing that I did to make that man proud.”
Before Sirius could respond, Abby walked into the room. She gave Sirius a wary look before going over to Regulus.
“Where is mum?”
Regulus turned to Abby, raising an eyebrow at her seemingly nervous demeanor.
“She went shopping to get some things to brighten this haunted house up a bit. She should be home soon. What’s wrong?”
Abby chewed on her bottom lip. She looked between Regulus and Sirius before speaking again.
“Can you call her and have her come home?”
“Abby, what is it?”
Regulus asked, keeping his voice calm and even. Abby muttered a few words quietly and all crammed together. Regulus blinked a few times.
“I’m sorry, what?”
Sirius decided to try his hand.
“I know that I am getting old but I did not hear a word of that.”
Abby finally groaned.
“I got my period, okay?!”
She turned and stormed from the room without another word. Sirius’ mouth dropped while Regulus acted as if nothing happened.
“So do we take her to the hospital?”
Sirius finally asked as he stood up to pace around the room. Regulus rolled his eyes and shoved his newspaper away. This morning just kept getting better! All Regulus wanted to do was read the newspaper in peace. That definitely wasn’t happening now.
“Tell me that you don’t know a thing about women without telling me that you don’t know a thing about women. I’ll handle this while you be the designated basket case of stupid.”
Sirius only nodded.
“Regulus, I owe you one.”
Regulus stood up and moved to walk out of the room.
“You owe me a few thousand things.”

Hi! So I saw that requests are open and I'm absolutely in live with your writing, and I was wondering if I could convince you to write something for Sirius where instead of a motorbike he got a mustang or something and fixed it up for muggle studies and fem!reader is friends with the marauders and they sneak away from a party together on the summer holidays or something to take a drive and end up confessing and maybe having a couple kisses before going back and kinda sticking to each other for the rest of the night??? Completely inspired by Katy Perry's the one that got away haha.. Thank you <3
(And if it isn't what you wanna write then thank you still for all your already amazing works that have me giggling like an idiot<333)
stop🥹you are far too sweet!!! thank you for requesting!🖤
.
“Are you sure this is safe?”
“One hundred percent, love.”
“Really?”
“Would I ever put you in danger?”
You sighed, eyes darting around the interior with wary but curious eyes.
Sirius hadn’t shut up about his latest muggle purchase for the better part of the last week.
He had practically bounced into the common room last Saturday night, a grin split across his face and a glint in his eyes that could only mean trouble when it came to Sirius Black. It was a sight that made your heart twist, in both anticipation and nostalgia.
Exams had come to a close and you were enjoying your last few weeks at Hogwarts before you graduated and left. You wanted to make memories. You wanted to cherish your time left with your group before adult life took over.
You were going to miss the crazy adventures Sirius Black would drag you out on.
This one came in the form of a car.
You were vaguely aware of the contraption, having studied it in Muggle Studies a few years prior. Despite the questions you asked Lily, you never really grasped onto the mechanics behind it, nor did you care all that much. But Sirius seemed to.
For his final project, he had seemed to wager some deal with his professor. He would fix up the broken Mustang showing his skills and knowledge of muggle inventions, rather than writing a tedious essay on the contraption and his professor seemed to agree.
But now, with exams over and school coming to an end, Sirius was left with a perfectly working Mustang and a desire to show off his creation, his baby he had nursed from the brink of death (aka the junkyard Lily told him the car would end up in).
“It’s like…a contained broom,” Sirius said in a lame attempt to explain the car, to reassure you that you would be fine. “Perfectly safe. Promise.”
“Because I’m so good on a broom too,” you commented with a snort, your chest tightening when you noticed the grin on his face.
The group had snuck off the grounds to take the car out for a spin, heading to a local outdoor cinema that Sirius seemed to be aware of. The others had headed off to the confectionery stands to grab some snacks and drinks before the movie began, whilst you stayed seated in the backseat of the Mustang with Sirius, listening to the muggle music sounding through the radio.
“Hey, everyone gets stuck in a tree every once in a while, don’t worry about it,” Sirius said as he nudged your shoulder. You rolled your eyes, but even you couldn’t help but laugh.
“At least I had someone stupid enough to fly straight into the tree as well to save me,” you teased, giving him a knowing look.
“Always gonna be your hero, love,” he said, his voice a little softer as he spoke to you.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he murmured, his eyes darting down a little before he turned to look out the windshield with a sigh. “So, what do you think about the car—”
It was an impulsive decision. You weren’t exactly sure what fuelled it. Or maybe you did know, you just didn’t have the heart to admit it to yourself that over the last few years, Sirius Black made butterflies erupt in your stomach with even the simplest of actions because you liked him. You liked him far more than you should like a friend.
So, you kissed him.
Sirius froze the second your lips touched his. His brain stopped working and there wasn’t a single coherent thought rattling in his head. He barely had a chance to process what had just happened before you were pulling away, eyes wide and cheeks flushed as realisation of what you had just done washed over you.
“Sirius–”
But before the apology could even leave your lips, he was grabbing your face and kissing you again, deeper and more passionate this time.
Your lips parted for him without any argument, his tongue teasing yours as he tugged you closer to him. In seconds you were off your seat and straddling his lap, your nails raking down his chest as you moaned against his lips. It was fast-paced and hot and you don’t think your brain even realised what you were doing and who you were doing it with.
It was a sharp knock against the window that shattered the moment, both of your heads snapping to the side to see a very smug-looking James grinning at you both, arm full of snacks he had purchased.
“Breaking in the new car?” he teased and Sirius playfully flipped him off before turning back to you, grinning himself a little when he saw the blush spreading across your cheeks.
“Nah, we’re gonna do that later, aren’t we, love?” Sirius murmured, the suggestion rolling off his tongue like pure sin.
“Huh?” you murmured, still a little dazed.
His eyes darkened as he bit his lip, trying to hold back his groan. “Gonna show you how much you can do in this car, baby. Just gotta let the others leave first.”
Whatever it was, you were sure things between you and Sirius were going much further than friends this summer.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
I have the best friends in the world.
I think this is easy to state. Sirius, Remus, Lily, Regulus, and the list would go on for hours because there are really so many of them, they are really sweet, kind people who always find a new way to show their affection and make you feel special, and they always do it in a big way, but I didn't expect all this on my birthday.
When I entered the Common Room, I thought I was going to faint at any moment from embarrassment. The whole room was decked out for the occasion, with even pictures that my friends had taken of me all these years, with them, alone or with my boyfriend James (I know for a fact that the one where we sleep at the Potter house after watching one of my favorite childhood cartoons was taken by Sirius, and for that he will pay dearly).
After noticing how it is decorated, I realize instead how many people are there, and for a second, I feel my breath come short. Everyone is moving in time to the music, and for a moment, I get the idea of running away, hoping that no one had seen me yet, when I see Sirius coming with James and Regulus under his arm, all three wearing a T-shirt with our picture together. I blush even more, feeling myself more and more under a huge spotlight, making me sweat and feel watched and judged by every pair of eyes in the room.
"The birthday girl has finally arrived!" Exult the Black brothers, as I see Jamie look at me and immediately realize that something is wrong. As soon as he's near me he wraps an arm around my waist, and lets Sirius explain to me who he invited, why, what they did, and I realize more and more that as wrong as I feel right now, and with too much attention on me, they did it only with good intentions and only for the purpose of giving me the best "celebration of approaching old age," quoting Sirius' own words, possible. As soon as both Regulus, intent on finding something to drink, and Sirius, trying not to give away the fact that he was going into a corner to make out with Remus, are gone I feel James' lips settle on my neck, just below my hairline, to leave me with a gentle, reassuring kiss, before speaking softly close to my ear to be heard over the noise of the music.
"I'm sorry, I know you don't want to be the center of attention, but Sirius insisted that you deserve a party worthy of the 'queen of Hogwarts,' which you are." He says making quotation marks, shaking his head, at the words of his friend, who is convinced that the two of us are by far the most beautiful couple in the entire school, and are therefore its undisputed rulers.
"That's okay, I know they did it in good faith, and I kind of expected it wouldn't be in my comfort zone, but I have to say Siri really went for it this time." I say as I look at the shirt he's wearing with our faces in the foreground, and immediately blush to think that half the people are walking around with my face printed above his chest.
"Remember that all it takes is one word from you and we'll go away, I'm ready at any moment to save you my queen, as soon as it all becomes too much just give me a sign and we'll be out in no time." James reassures me, still holding me tightly in his arms, and immediately it doesn't seem so bad to be here, with him, among my friends.
At least for a while.
Slowly I feel anxiety rising more and more, like a snake slowly running over my skin and coming hissing to my ear, whispering insecurities and fear into my ear. I feel dread making space inside me, and all of a sudden this room seems too small, stifling, oppressive, and I feel like a fish out of water fighting to stay alive. The loud music shaking the walls fades into the background, and I find myself as if floating in a soap bubble, not knowing what to do or where to go, confused and dazed, but at the same time frightened.
Until James punctures that ball that had formed around my head, and brings me back beside him, touching my shoulder.
"Hey, are you okay honey?" He asks worriedly, already knowing that I am not okay. He immediately puts down the glass he has in his other hand, and rests his other hand on my other shoulder, placing himself in front of me and thus obscuring the other people we have around, so that only he can see me and relax me this way.
I shake my head, and wave to him with my hands around my neck that I am choking, without saying a single word not having the breath to say it, since out of panic my breathing had gone to hell and now I look like I am on the verge of an asthma attack.
He understanding me perfectly, however, picks me up and we go out into the corridors, where the night air invests me with all its power. Cold, but like a sedative, barely touching my skin, the breeze of this mid-November night calms me.
I stay for a few minutes taking deep breaths while James stays close to me, just holding my hand, knowing that on occasions like these I need my space to breathe and understand that I am not trapped. He slowly leads me by the nearest window he can find, sits down and then lets me sit on his lap.
"Better?" He asks in a whisper, and I can do nothing but nod. I allow myself to be cuddled by the smell of the autumn night and the scent of my fiancé, as I snuggle against his chest, trying to recover.
"I'm sorry, I know it took you so long, but I don't know what happened to me. One second I was perfectly fine, and the next I felt like I was crushed in a death grip, like the room was a sweater that was too tight and itching, that wouldn't let you breathe." I try to explain to the boy, as I look up from his chest to look into his eyes, and all I see is pure and total understanding.
"Love, there is nothing to apologize for. I knew it wasn't your kind of party, and I didn't have the guts to tell Sirius when he decided to prepare it, since you planned his birthday party. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine." James confesses, lowering his gaze feeling guilty.
"Don't say that even in jest, it's not your fault. Let's do this, it's nobody's fault. We should have been clear right away with our friends, but I don't feel like telling Siri that I felt bad because she had the wrong party, he had nothing to do with my panic attacks, however, I know that if I told him he would feel bad right away." I say and James can't help but nod as he sees me yawn. The boy smiles at my gesture, leaves a sweet kiss on my lips, not brief but gentle, and then strokes my hair, before handing me his jacket, which he had taken just before leaving the room.
"Get some sleep honey, I'll wake you up when the party has quieted down for a moment and we can go back inside." I try for a moment to counter, saying that I am not tired, but after a couple of minutes between his scent, his caresses and the night breeze, I fall asleep suddenly, falling into a quiet and peaceful dream.
Until I hear two sets of footsteps coming toward us, but I don't have the strength to open my eyes, so I stay and listen.
"That's where you two lovebirds ended up." He comments on what I recognize as Siri, while then Remmy speaks next.
"He's fine, before I saw you leave I saw that he didn't look good. Wasn't there too many people?" My friend asks worriedly, and I feel my heart ache at hearing his concern in his voice.
"No, it's okay, we wanted to spend some time alone. You know we don't like making out in public, unlike two of my roommates who are here now." Says James, and I can hardly hold back a laugh, being able to imagine the middle finger Lupin gave my boyfriend.
"Don't worry, he needed to rest for a moment. We'll be back inside in a bit." Jamie continues, and the other two happy with the answer, indulge themselves to return to the party, while I hear Sirius say that the two of them don't actually make out that often in public.
I hear James laugh at his friend's words, before his lips come close to my ear to whisper something, thinking I am still asleep.
"That's not true princess, we can all stay here as long as you wish, as long as you need to rest. Besides, it's true that the two of them always make out in public, Siri is just a little liar." My love says, before leaving me a slobbery but sweet kiss on my cheek. "I love you, more than you can imagine." He continues and I just want to tell him that I love him even more.
And just as I wonder how I can be so lucky, again his caresses on my back make me fall asleep, letting the night of my birthday pass and welcoming the new year ahead.

To make this a true rival to lovers I made the reader a Slytherin, just because I am a sucker for a Slytherin and Gryffindor love story. Shit melts my heart.
☆。*。☆。
You twirl your quill in your fingers as you stare ahead, completely lost in thought. Not about any specific situation, but more about a specific person. Sirius Fucking Black. Somehow you were unlucky enough to catch the boy's attention, meaning now and for the past few years, you have been at the brunt of most of his pranks. Not that you minded, because that just means you could return the favor, and by Merlin you have. Took you a few years, but last year when you had enough of the boy's shenanigans you struck back, and the rivalry started then.
Eventually, the other Marauders backed off on pranking you, because when you would retaliate it was always more brilliant and evil than what they had done to you. You never caused harm, but you would always one-up them in pranking, it drove Sirius mad. You smirk to yourself as you remember your latest prank on Sirius.
"Y/l/n! Where are you?" Sirius screeches when he enters the dining hall. You smile to yourself, knowing he was livid.
"Oh hello there Black, you look ravishing today," You smile at Sirius and check out his hair, which you bewitched to take the form of snakes making the boy look like Medusa.
"Fix my hair right now or so help me I will shave your bloody head!" Sirius is fuming, granted he is quite impressed with your ability to pull this off, but nonetheless, he is furious.
"Oh, now Siri why would I do that? I think you look good wearing my house mascot on your head," You wink at the boy before collecting your items and heading to class.
"If I didn't know any better mate, I would say you're whipped," James claps Sirius' back with a smile. The boy just huffs before sitting down to eat some breakfast. He knows for a fact you wouldn't pull a prank that would hinder his attention in class. Even if Sirius didn't pay any attention, to begin with.
You were waiting for him to strike back. Usually, it came the following day if not within the next few immediate days, and you are beginning to wonder when he will seek his revenge. You'd be lying if you said you weren't worried, but you tried your best not to show it.
"I'm telling you Padfoot, you could easily dye her hair bright red to humiliate her like she did you. Maybe give her a lion's mane?" James whispers to Sirius, who is staring holes into the back of your head. Not out of spite or hate, but admiration. How you always managed to get one up on him impressed him. Dare he says he found it downright... sexy?
"No way Prongs. I am taking a new approach, I am going to drive her mad wondering when I will do something, and then I won't do anything." Sirius chuckles as James and the other two Marauders look in your direction and then back to their friend. What the hell was going on with him?
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
And drive you mad he did, within a week with no retaliation you began to squirm in your seat. This was unlike Sirius to wait so long before pulling a prank on you, it was beginning to become worrisome.
"Oi, y/l/n," Sirius says behind you, and before you can think about how to react you turn around startled, "A bit on edge are we?" He chuckles.
"Oh shove off you hairy bloke," You roll your eyes to continue walking.
"Now wait a second princess, where do you think you're going?" Sirius grabs your hand to halt your movements. You look down at your hand in his and get goosebumps. What is with the nickname and the small touches? What is he getting at?
"Well believe it or not Black some of us actually care about our grades," You still haven't let go of his hand, something he took note of.
"Well y/n/n, can I call you that? Actually, I don't care what you say I will call you it anyway-" You huff at the boy's dramatics, "I know for a fact that you do not have a class right now, so where are you really going?"
Your eyes go wide with surprise, Sirius knows your schedule, "Why Black I would almost be touched by a guy memorizing my schedule, but since it is just you I am appalled."
"Says the one who is still holding my hand," Sirius cocks his eyebrow and looks down at your conjoined hands.
You huff and take your hand away, "I have stuff to do Black, leave me alone."
"Your wish is my command, princess." Sirius mock salutes before running off in the opposite direction of you, not before turning around to throw a grin over his shoulder.
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Sirius did quite literally leave you alone, he hasn't retaliated yet nor has he talked to you since that one day in the corridor. You were going mad. Constantly watching your back and staring over at the Gryffindor table. There were countless times when Sirius would look up and make direct eye contact with you, sending you a wink. It was becoming bothersome that he acted so nonchalant about everything.
One early spring day you have had enough of this waiting game, you approach Sirius in the courtyard who was surprised, but pleased to see you.
"Fancy seeing you here, princess." There he goes with that nickname again, you roll your eyes and grab him by his tie.
"I am tired of whatever game you are playing Black. If you are going to prank me then just do it! I am going mad watching my back and wondering what the bloody hell you are planning!" Sirius gives you a dopey grin, watching the emotions cross your features.
"You know y/n, you are quite stunning when you're yelling at me," Sirius smiles at you. From where you are positioned, anyone looking at the pair of you would think you are snogging. You are standing between his legs, his tie in your hand, and his head tilted up to look at you.
"Blimey Black, you're like talking to a wall," You go to walk away but he grabs your wrist.
"And you princess, are like listening to a great record for the first time. I am in bliss, going through the emotions, and yet so enamored with every note." Sirius speaks gently to you, his change is persona has you alarmed.
Without putting any more thought into what the bloody hell is going on between the two of you, you snatch your wrist away and walk feverishly toward the castle.
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The next day you find yourself not caring what Sirius Black is up to. When he strikes, if he decides, then you will return the favor. You weren't giving up, more like just accepting whatever is coming your way.
You are walking toward the courtyard, it is chilly but not enough to run you off. You decided that today you are going to continue your life without worrying about Sirius. You enjoy sitting outside and being present with nature, something you thought no one noticed, but of course, the stars wouldn't align that way. Once you find your spot you sit down and open your book.
You hadn't even read the first sentence before your short-lived bliss was interrupted. "Hey, princess," You snap your book closed to look up at Sirius, maybe he was finally seeking revenge.
"What do you want?!" You snap at him, growing tired of the games he is playing.
"Well, it is quite simple," He sits across from you, so close that your knees are touching, "I want-"
You interrupt Sirius by grabbing his collar, "I swear to Merlin if this is another one of your stupid mind tricks I will hex you right now."
Sirius grins, analyzing your proximity. "Well, y/n, I want to kiss you."
You stare at him, befuddled by the words that just left his mouth. With you off guard, the grip on the collar of his shirt loosens. Sirius takes advantage of this by grabbing your tie, just as you did to him the day prior, to bring you impossibly closer to him.
"Tell me you don't want me to kiss you and I won't. But princess, this is all I have thought about since you sent that shit-eating grin in my direction after you pranked me last year. You have seriously-"
You interrupt Sirius by crashing your lips onto his. Your hands move from the collar of his shirt to his neck, bringing him closer. Sirius lets go of your tie and rest one hand on your cheek, the other on your waist pulling you in. There was no denying Sirius was attractive, and there was no way to deny that you hadn't thought of this exact moment since you first saw him.
You pull away with a grin and look directly into his eyes, "You talk too much Black."
He laughs before grabbing you by your waist and laying you on the ground beside him, "Oh shove off, you know you like it when I talk."
You roll your eyes at his cheekiness, before grabbing his tie to crash his lips onto yours once again. Something you couldn't believe took you this long to do.

Hogwarts, 1st year
" Hi, I'm Y/N L/N. I see you haven't got a project partner yet. Wanna partner up? "
Helen glanced up from his desk as he's approached. He's aware of who you are. You're nice, a stereotypical Hufflepuff. The only thing that sets you apart from your housemates is that you've actually got a bite to your bark when provoked.
This makes you quite popular amongst your housemates.
" Why? Did your friends ditch you? " Helen snaps back rudely.
His housemate, Theodore Nott, snorts. Helen doesn't get why he's listening in, but as long as Nott won't bother him, he doesn't care.
" They partnered up with each other. If you don't want to be partners, that's fine, I'll just find someone else. " You shrug, seemingly unbothered by his rude attitude.
You turn around to walk off, but before you can take a step, Helen suddenly finds his own hand clasped loosely around your wrist.
" No, I need a partner too anyway, when can we meet? "
-
" Hey Otis! " Draco Malfoy calls out into the commonroom as soon as Helen enters.
Helen sighs, not in the mood for Malfoy's bullshit.
" Yes? "
" So, L/N, huh? I didn't estimate you to be that low. She's a muggle born, is she not? " He scoffs, a disgusted look on his face.
Helen barely glances his way.
" I'm surprised to know that you manage to find time to butt into my business, Malfoy. If I were you, I'd study more for Charms. Your last grades were rather, embarrassing... Were they not? "
Draco's eyes widen. No one's ever spoken to him like that before, but then again, he's never bothered to cross paths with Helen before.
-
Hogwarts, Year 2
" Y/N, what are you doing here? " Helen whispers harshly as he spots his best and only friend.
" What? Oh, hi Helen. I was looking for a good book to read. Why, is something wrong? " You ask him.
" There's a monster loose who's out for muggle borns and you're casually hanging out by yourself. Don't do that. " He crosses his arms as he stands beside you.
" Don't worry. I'll be okay. Besides, it's broad daylight-"
" I doubt the monster would care. Do me a favor, just stick around me. "
Your big eyes look up at Helen's words, before your lips turn up into a teasing smirk.
" Awe, do you actually care about me? "
He raises a brow at you.
" Of course I do. You're the only person who's... I don't know, durable, I guess. " He shrugs.
" I find you durable too. "
-
Hogwarts, Year 3
" Helen? "
Said male woke up at the sound of his name being called.
" Huh, what is it Y/N? " He grumbles.
All of the students have been gathered in the great hall, the reason for it being Sirius Black on the loose.
" Can I sleep beside you? " You ask him, no further explanation said.
He slightly opens his eyes, glancing at you. Once he realizes you're most probably scared, he nods.
" Yeah, whatever. "
And so you take the sleepingbag beside him. He's surprised you don't immediately quack his head off like you usually do, instead, you get into a comfortable position, and close your eyes.
Helen can't help himself. He keeps looking at you for a while. He never really realized, but you really are gorgeous.
It doesn't take long before you've drifted off.
Neither of you mention it when you wake up cuddled into each other.
-
Hogwarts, Year 4
" Helen, look at how cute this creature is! " You yell as you thrust the book of magical creatures you're looking at in his face.
Helen blinks, needing a few minutes to be able to read what's on the page.
" Bowtruckles? Really? They're not cute, they're pests. "
You blink.
" You say that as if you've seen them before. "
" Because I have. They live in the trees behind the mansion I live in. " Helen says unimpressed, pushing your book aside to go back to reading his homework.
" Wait so you have?-"
" Yes I have, no I will not show you. Also stop blabbering, and focus on your homework for once. " He says, smiling wryly at the end.
He takes your book gently, closing it and setting it aside. Once it's placed on the table, he places a hand behind your head, suddenly pulling you close.
" Study. " He says, his voice giving you shivers before he pulls away again.
You blush faintly as he pulls away.
Had Helen always been that attractive?
-
" I dare you to swap wands with Y/N for a whole day. " Lui grins evilly.
You cough, before choking and eventually breathing again.
" What? That's not fair. My wand is the biggest traitor in the world, it works for almost everyone. Helen's is more loyal than,, I don't even know. That's how loyal it is." You complain.
Helen grins, holding his wand out to you. You huff and roll your eyes, before holding in out your own as well.
" Please don't listen to him." You whisper to your wand as you hand it to him.
Helen snorts, taking yours as you take his.
About twenty minutes later, you're in your defense against th dark arts class, and you feel sweat break out as you're stood on a dueling table, a classmate of yours stood opposite you.
You swallow, glancing down at Helen's wand which you're holding.
Time to test his wands' loyalty.
Your classmate opens her mouth, ready to fire a spell at you, but although nervous, you don't back down.
" Expelliarmus!" You shout.
To your ( and your friends') surprise, your classmate's wand flies out of their fingers.
" Well done Y/N, well done!" Your substitute teacher calls out with a proud grin.
You and Helen blink owlishly at one another.
-
Hogwarts, Year 5
" I think I'm going to join the Inquisitorial Squad. " Helen suddenly says as the two of you are chilling near the Black Lake.
" What? Why? " You ask him.
He shrugs.
" For the extra credit. "
" You don't even need that though, you're top of the class. " You point out as you lay down in the grass.
Helen glances at you for a moment, before scooting closer to you, pulling you into his embrace.
" Promise me you won't engage in any stupid activities. "
-
" Bombarda Maxima. "
Draco seemed smug when he pulls Cho Chang in front of the broken down wall.
Helen felt anything but as his eyes connected with yours.
Why didn't you listen to him?
-
Helen and you barely spoke after he caught you being part of Dumbledore's Army. That doesn't mean he actually let you out of his sight though.
" I caught these two trying to help the Weasley girl! " Draco exclaimed proudly as he walked into Umbridge's office, holding who he recognized to be Neville Longbottom and you.
His cold eyes never left yours the moment you entered the room.
He had originally been called to fetch veritaserum so Umbridge could question Harry Potter.
" I'm afraid you used the last of it already, professor. " He tells Umbridge, though he keeps his eyes on you.
Umbridge opens her mouth, ready to tell him to go fetch Snape, but he's already towering over Draco before a word can leave her mouth.
" Hand her over to me. "
Draco doesn't think twice before pushing you into Helen's arms.
" I thought I told you to stay out of trouble. " He whispers harshly to you.
" Yeah, well, that's pretty hard when she's headmaster. " You bite back.
" Shut it, you'll only get into more trouble. " He hisses.
Meanwhile, Snape has dropped by, Harry said something sketchy to him and now Hermoine's yelling something about a secret weapon.
Moments later, the golden three are out of the room, along with Umbridge.
" Well then-"
" Do with them whatever you like. I'll have a good talk with her. " Helen says before Draco can even finish his sentence.
Next thing you know is that he's roughly pulling you out of the room and into the hallway.
" Hey! No need to be so rough! -"
" If you don't want me to be so rough, fucking listen to me! " He yells suddenly, slamming you into the wall.
You blink, fear slowly seeping into you. He's never been rough with you. Nor have you ever seen him mad before.
When he finally catches up to your reaction, he slowly lets go of the shoulder he's had pressed against the wall.
" Look, sorry, but-"
" I'm not someone you can boss around Helen, you should know that by now. " You tell him carefully.
" Boss around?! The only reason I'm bossing you around is because you easily manage to get into trouble- Which I in turn hate, because Umbridge is a major bitch. " He bursts out suddenly, running a hand through his hair.
He turns to look at you, his crystal blue eyes boring into yours with an unusual amount of emotion and affection.
He carefully steps closer to you, and when you don't step away, he cups your face with both of his hands.
" I'm in love with you, Y/N. "
Your eyes widen at his confession. Yes, you most definitely have a crush on him too, but love?
You carefully place your hands on his sides.
" Helen, I like you too. "
He doesn't need to hear anymore as he connects your lips together. He gives you a soft peck, never having kissed anyone before.
He's your first kiss as well, but you're less shy. You move one of the hands on his sides to cup his face, pulling him back to you.
You might not know what the future holds for you, but you believe you'll be okay in the battle against he-who-musn't-be-named with him by your side.
-
Malfoy Manor, summer before 6th year
Helen's monotone expression remains the same as he comes face to face with the dark lord himself.
" Ah, Helen it is? I believe you'll be a great addition to my army. I trust you accept? " The dark lord speaks to him.
Helen doesn't need to look at his parents to know that this is what they want him to do.
" Of course. " He answers, voice holding no tone of flattery.
" Good, good, just the answer I hoped. You see, I've set a mission for your friend, Draco. I, however, believe it's best if you help. " The dark lord tells him.
Helen nods, shortly glancing at Draco who's seemingly trying his best not to quiver.
-
Your eyes widen as you look at the letter your friend Hermoine send you.
Dear Y/N,
Hi, Hermoine here. I was out with Ron and Harry the other day when I saw Malfoy and Otis acting suspicious by Borgin and Burks. I know we're not close, but I thought that Malfoy and Otis weren't either. Just giving you a heads up in case he's now on you-know-who's side.
Can't wait to see you in school!
Hermoine Granger
Did Helen really join him?
-
Hogwarts, Year 6
So far, things have been relatively grim between you and Helen. The two of you talk, as you always do, but sometimes he randomly runs off with Malfoy, sometimes for hours on end, without any explanation.
" What's going on with you and Malfoy? "
Helen looks up as he hears you ask the question he dreads to answer.
" Nothing. We don't talk all that often, why? "
" 'You don't talk that often? ' He literally came to pick you up from our study date yesterday. " You raise a brow.
He sighs, but doesn't say anything otherwise.
" Look, I know you're hiding something. I also feel like it's got something to do with you-know-who being back. I need you to tell me Helen, are we together in the war that will no doubt be coming, or not? "
He remains silent, confirming your fears.
" Okay. I guess I'll see you arou-"
He's pulling you right back down beside him before you can finish your sentence and properly get up from the grass.
" You're right. I'm afraid we won't be on the same team when it comes to the war Y/N." He sighs, his eyes turning sad.
You haven't seen him so emotional since last year, when he confessed his feelings for you. Now, he's got a tight grip on your hand. He's avoiding eye contact, but his deep blue eyes look sad whilst he's looking out on the black lake. You know what it means; he's worried about something.
" This summer wasn't like any other. Malfoy and I were approached by the Dark Lord to join his side. We know better than to say no. Now we've been charged a mission. I won't burden you with what.... " He explains.
You look at your boyfriend, shocked by what he's telling you.
" Just, please tell me, are you asked to kill someone? " You ask, taking the hand he's holding into both of your own.
In return, he pulls you into his side, wrapping the arm you were holding around you as he replaces it with his free hand in your own.
" Yes. "
-
" I once knew a boy, he was quite like you you see, he made all the wrong choices-"
" Get it over with Malfoy. " Helen hisses, stepping out from where he was hidden in the shadows.
" Otis?-"
" I don't need a peptalk. I'm morally much worse than you know. " He says.
Dumbledore could tell he was right. Helen's eyes were dark, filled with some kind of unexplained rage. Like he's been carrying around anger for a very long time.
In a quick attempt to keep Helen from doing what Dumbledore has asked Severus to do, he tries to get through to him.
" What would miss L/N think, Helen? "
" She'll never know. " He says, slipping his wand out of his pocket.
Just as Dumbledore hoped, the sound of more people arriving catches their attention.
" There's others? How? "
" The vanishing cabinet in the room of requirement. It has a twin. "
-
The Burrow, summer after 6th year
" What was the first thing I said to you when Helen became our housemate?! " Link yells as he points his wand at you and his own twin brother Ben.
Ben is quick to react, pulling his own wand out and pointing it back at his twin while he pulls you protectively behind his form.
" What the hell is this about Link-"
" Answer me! "
" That he looks like a damn angel and smells like flowers! " Ben yells frustrated.
You pop your head out from behind his back.
" I mean, I agree- but,, what? "
Link grins, lowering his wand.
" We have to check everyone this way, they knew we were coming. " Link says, stepping inside of the burrow, letting you and Ben in as well.
Today, the trace has finally faded on Harry, and because of that, you, Ben, Link and Lui were helping with bringing him to the Burrow, the Weasleys' household. You had been paired up with Ben (with you morphing into Harry, thanks to the Polyjuice potion. Now, you're thankfully back in your own skin.) Everyone is also staying at least until the wedding of Ron's brother Billy and Fleur.
" George! Are you okay? " You ask as you see him nearly passed out on the couch, his twin by his side as always.
" Oh, yeah, feeling kinda holy, don't worry.-"
" Y/N! Thank Merlin you made it! " Hermoine calls suddenly, running to you to give you a big hug.
" Hermoine! You too." You smile as you return the hug.
It thankfully doesn't take long until the rest arrives.
" Mad eye's dead. Mundunges fled as soon as he saw the first death eater appear. " Billy says, bringing an uncomfortable silence with him.
-
You smile sadly at the couple who're dancing. You're happy for them, truly, but you're also sad, as they remind you of what (or rather who) you're missing.
" Pitty party for one I see, mind if I join? "
You look up from where you seated to see Link standing there.
You snort.
" Sure, sit down. "
" Kind of sad that they're having a wedding right now." You say as soon as he sat down.
" You think so? " He asks in return.
" Yeah, you don't? "
" I think it's rather cute that they choose to die married, kind of. "
" I mean, I guess you could see it like that too. Never expected you to be a 'till death do us part' kind of guy. " You tease.
Understandably so too, Link had always been a player for as long as you knew him.
" What can I say, I suppose I'm full of surprises. "
A comfortable silence settled between the two of you after that for a moment, until he spoke the words you dreaded to hear.
" You know, I saw him. " Link started carefully, looking at your face.
" When we escorted Harry here. He didn't shoot a spell at me, but I can't read him. He didn't exactly seem to be there against his will either-"
" He was forced Link, just like everyone else in that wretched army. "
" I know, but still. You should be careful.... I think there's a chance- DUCK! " Link cut himself off as he threw himself on you, pulling the both of you down.
Death eaters started breaking down the tent, shooting spells left and right. From the corner of your eye, you could see the golden trio apparate.
" Wand out, Y/N." Link says as he gets up, throwing spells right back at them.
You get up too, intending to do the same. However, before you've even properly drawn your wand out, someone knocks you out.
-
When you wake up again, you're in some kind of underground cellar, Luna, and who you recognize to be the wandmaker Ollivander are with you.
" Y/N was it right, are you okay? " Luna asks.
You cough, carefully getting up.
" Uhm, sort of I think? You're Luna right? Luna Lovegood? "
" Yes, that's me. "
" Where are we? What happened? "
" We're in the basement of Malfoy Manor, I'm afraid we're taken. "
-
" We did not manage to catch him, my lord-"
" Fools! How is it, that even a simple task, you cannot manage! " He-who-musn't-be-named booms as he walks over to the poor man, who gulps in fear.
" M-my lord, we did manage to take two girls. We believe they're relatively close to Potter. Mayhaps they could help? " Another, who had been part of the wedding crashing, asked carefully.
The dark lord looked him cold in the eye, contemplating on whether he should kill him or not, but eventually waved him off.
" Get them, perhaps we can get some information out of them. "
The man immediately scrambles off, doing as told.
Draco turns to carefully look at Helen, who's sat beside him. The black haired male was much colder than he had anticipated, in fact, sometimes Helen seemed to enjoy torturing people, hurting them.
He was unbreakable, nothing seemed to get to him.
Until today that is.
-
Helen's eyes widen as he recognized the pair of (E/C) eyes who seemed to stare right back at him.
However, knowing better than to show emotion in this environment, he quickly wiped his emotions off his face.
No one is to know you two were something.
And so he watched. He watched as another death eater started using the cruciatus curse on Luna whilst questioning you. He watched as you didn't give in. He watched as they in turn used the curse on you. He watched with pain as Luna didn't give in. It went on like that for a while, until the dark lord grew impatient.
You didn't look him in the eye once.
" Enough. If they don't want to speak, that's fine. Kill them." He ordered.
Helen felt his heart stop as you finally broke eye contact, hanging your head, ready to die.
" Don't. " Helen says suddenly.
He doesn't raise his voice, doesn't yell, doesn't show any emotion.
The dark lord's cold eyes turn to him now, daring him to give an explanation.
" They'll be no use to us dead. Lovegood's father will look for her. As will Drowned's for Y/N. " He says, not stuttering once.
" Mayhaps, we should sent them a note. Lucius, I trust you own an owl? "
-
Eventually, hours turn into days, and days turn into weeks.
Helen watches you suffer sometimes, not budging with interfering.
Luna was at some point left alone, for she seemed to be more of use as long as she was alive.
You on the other hand? You were close to breaking. The torturing truly got to you, and Helen watched painfully as you turn into the ghost of yourself. Your skin which once shined was now dull and dirty, your hair matted, and you've lost so much weight. Your eyes get to him the most. They don't look at him with the hope you once had for him anymore.
One day, he finally has enough.
" That's enough. She'll die. She'll be useless to us dead. " He stops Bellatrix from murdering you.
" What, it sounds to me as if you have a soft spot for this one, Otis~" Bellatrix laughs cruelly.
" Not at all, Lestrange. But I doubt the dark lord would be happy with her dead when he specifically told you to keep her alive. " Helen glares back, stepping closer.
Due to his height, he towers over her. Her heels barely giving her enough height to make them face to face.
She scoffs, obviously bummed he interrupted her fun.
That night, Helen finally goes down to see you.
" Y/N? " He asks carefully as he opens the door to the cellar.
" H-Helen? " He hears you call back to him.
The basement is dark, and he whispers a small spell to create light.
" Y/N." Helen breaths out as he walks over to where you're cuddles up in a corner.
" Leave her alone! " Luna suddenly jumps in his way, pushing him back.
" Haven't you done enough damage to her?! " She yells, although she keeps her voice soft.
Helen feels a new emotion dwell up in him. He doesn't like Luna. How dare she say that when she didn't budge to say anything when they tortured you?
He can't seem to control himself as he pushes her aside roughly, her head hitting one of the columns.
He doesn't watch to see how she does, instead he stalks over to you.
It scares you to the point where you try to press yourself further into the wall. But he's having none of that, instead taking you into his arms and taking you upto his room.
Once you've arrived in a different room on the third floor, you look at him.
" What are you doing? "
" Saving you. "
" Why? "
Helen glances at your face, but doesn't say anything else.
" Do you need help getting yourself clean in the bathroom? " He asks instead pulling you up with one hand on your lower arm and one on your waist.
He doesn't miss how your skin shivers at his touch.
" No. " You say as you try to push him away.
However, the moment you're on your feet by yourself, you nearly collapse, had it not been for Helen who caught you.
" Seems you do though. "
-
A few weeks later, Malfoy Manor
So far, Helen has been keeping you in his room.
You've been walking around in his clothes, sleeping beside him in his bed and did well by keeping quiet.
He says he's planning an escape for the two of you, but you know better than to believe him.
He's always been calculated and quick, if he had a plan, it would be put to action by now.
Instead, you're left to wait for the right moment.
He's made the stupid mistake of giving you your wand back, with the empty promise that you wouldn't use it.
For now, you can't yet, considering it would most probably only bring you trouble, and impossibly more pain.
Currently, you're seated in the window sill. It's a relatively sunny day out, but of course, you're stuck inside.
The moment you hear footsteps in the hallway, you turn your head to face the door, your hand on your wand beside you.
The door opens, but like always, it's just Helen.
" Hey, how do you feel?" He asks, face void of a smile.
You miss his smile. You miss the Helen you used to know.
You don't respond, instead turning to face the window again.
You hear Helen sighs, before you hear him approach you.
" You wanted to see Bowtruckles sometime, right?" He asks suddenly, pulling out a chair to sit on from the desk beside the window.
You turn to look at him, but don't say anything, though the question is clear in your eyes.
He reaches into his hoodie's pocket, and pulls out a small green twig-leaf like creature.
Your eyes widen.
It's a Bowtruckle.
For the first time in a while, he actually smiles, and holds his hand out to you. And for the first time in a while, you take it.
The Bowtruckle seems to be scared of the both of you, but still jumps onto your hand.
The window sill is low, and as Helen scoots closer, into your personal space bubble.
You put your wand in the same hand which is holding the Bowtruckle, something the creature appreciates.
While you're busy fawning over the Bowtruckle (you even tell Helen you're naming it Twig), Helen has his eyes on you.
This is the happiest he's seen you in a while, and he can't help himself when he turns your face, kissing you full on the lips for the first time.
Your eyes widen, but you don't push him away, instead pulling him in closer with your free hand, you don't even realize when you start crying. He also pulls you in closer, holding the back of your neck.
When the two of you pull away from one another, he wipes your tears.
" I know I've made all the wrong choices, and that I don't deserve you- but please know, I really do love you, Y/N."
-
A few months later, Malfoy Manor
You've always been patient, something you're very grateful for right now.
Finally, today seems to be your lucky day.
" Come. " Helen calls you over suddenly from the doorway of his room.
You were on the other side of the room, looking through the window, aimless on what to do.
" Why? " You ask carefully.
Helen rolls his eyes but walks over to you, taking you by your arm.
" You're going to identify Harry Potter. Don't do anything stupid, I can't do much with the other death eaters around. "
And so, seconds later, you're sat down in front of a man who's most probably Harry Potter.
" I-I don't know. " You stutter out.
You're scared out of your wits, surrounded by some of the people who've tortured you the worst.
" Think harder! " Bellatrix screams at you, making you flinch.
" I really d-don't know. "
" Get Draco. "
Draco, who was just as 'unsure' as you, didn't clear much up either.
However, in a sudden turn of events, Bellatrix spots a sword, and Harry and Ron are ushered to the basement. Bellatrix makes a move to come for you too, but to everyone's surprise, Helen actually draws his wand out.
He wraps a possessive arm around your shoulder, pulling you in close against his body, and raises his wand to her chin within a quick motion.
" Touch her. " He hisses out.
" I fucking dare you. "
Bellatrix glares back at him, hard enough to make you shake in fear.
" You can't keep your pet forever. I'm going to kill her one day or another. " Bellatrix hisses before turning around to torture Hermoine.
When Helen feels you start to shake even worse at Hermoine's screams, he turn you around, pushing your face into his shoulder, as if to offer comfort. The hand which is holding his wand wrapping around your waist.
After a while, it thankfully stops.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Bellatrix' wand goes flying.
Harry and Ron come up from the basement, and suddenly you feel something you haven't felt in a while, hope.
However, Bellatrix isn't easily defeated, and brings a dagger up to Hermoine's throat, making Harry and Ron stop as they were fighting Draco and Narcissa.
You're not sure what to expect from there, but then suddenly the chandelier squeaks, and eventually it falls down, as an unfamiliar house elf drops it.
You take this as your moment to run, you elbow Helen hard in the stomach as you run over to Ron, Harry, Hermoine, a gringgotts creature and the house elf, picking up everyone's wands on the way there.
" You stupid elf! You could've killed me! " Bellatrix screams.
Helen just looks at you, emotionless, unreadable.
You don't know what he's thinking.
" Dobby never meant to kill. Dobby only meant to seriously injure. " The house elf, you guess Dobby, says.
Narcissa raises her wand to do something about it, but with a click of the house elf's fingers, her wand flies into his hands.
" How dare you take a witch's wand?! How dare you defy your masters?! " Bellatrix screams, outraged.
Dobby stands up straight, the look on his face serious.
" Dobby has no masters. Dobby is a free elf. And Dobby has come to save Harry Potter and his friends. " He speaks bravely, before he nudges everyone to hold hands.
The last thing you see is Bellatrix throwing a dagger at you before you disapparate.
When you arrive at the new location, you feel sand. You're momentarily numb to your surroundings. You can't hear anyone, you only see.
Freedom.
Finally.
After only being able to look into the sad yard of Malfoy Manor, you're finally outside.
After a minute, you register the pained screams from Harry, and it takes a moment longer before you've registered that the dagger that Bellatrix had thrown had hit Dobby. And that he's passed now.
Silent tears escape your eyes as you walk over to the group.
" There, he looks more peaceful now. " Luna says as she closes his eyes.
" I'm so sorry. " You whisper.
Luna wraps a kind arm around you, as everyone else is too broken about what happened.
-
" Y/N! " Link yells as he all but runs over to you, wrapping you up in a tight embrace.
" I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have let go of you-"
" Hey, sush, you couldn't have done anything, Link. Nothing could've saved me. " You sniff as you hold him just as tight.
" Still, I'm so sorry. "
" I was so scared." You cry.
Link rubs your back comfortingly, and after a while, you calm down a little.
" I was with him most of the time." You confess.
Link's eyes widen, pulling away from him slightly.
" You mean with Helen? What was he like?"
" I don't know. With me, he was sweet. But when there were other people around he just, seemed like an entire different person."
Link sighs.
" I'm afraid we'll have to see what's become of him when it comes down to it."
-
" Hello, I'm sorry to bother. Can I ask you a few questions?" You ask as you step into Ollivander's room.
" Of course, come in. " He tells you kindly, straightening his posture in awareness.
" How are you?" You ask him as you sit down on stool opposite him.
" I'm alright. Healing I'd say. How are you?"
" Quite the same. You see I have a Bowtruckle. I just.. don't know how to care for it." You say as you fish the creature out of the pocket of your hoodie.
Ollivander smiles, and you hold out Twig so he can hold it if he wants to. To your surprise, Twig actually moves onto his hand as soon as it's offered.
" Peculiar creatures, Bowtruckles. Much like the wood of their hometree, they rarely bond with more than one person. Did young Otis give you this?" He asks.
Your eyes widen, your mouth opening and closing like a fish.
" Don't worry. I don't judge you. I remember back when I was in school and in love. it seems so long ago." He says with a smile.
" I saw the way the Otis looked at you. I believe he might be mad, but there's a big chance he's also mad for you."
He doesn't look at you as he speaks, instead looking at the bowtruckle.
" They eat bugs. I'd recommend letting it go, but I have no idea where a tree with wood worthy of a wand is." He finally tells you, holding his hand out to yours, Twig jumping back onto your hand without second thought.
" Uhm, thank you." You eventually say, not knowing how to react.
How did Ollivander know?
-
The Burrow, A few weeks later
" Harry got into Hogwarts. " Kingsley says.
" This is it. " Tonks says as she takes her lover's hand.
" The last battle. " Lupin sighs.
" We better go. " Fred says, and one by one everyone starts disapparating.
" Link, disapparate me with you, I can't do it by myself yet. "
" No, stay here-"
" I'm going to fight, Link. I have a right to make them pay after what they did to me. " You say, although you don't fully mean it.
But you can't let your friends fight alone.
" If you panic or can't handle it anymore, you run and hide, deal? "
" But-"
" Deal or no deal? Otherwise you're not coming. " He says.
" Fine, deal. "
-
The preparations for the battle scare you. You're stood with Link, Ben and Lui. The friends you've made this year.
All of you are just watching as the shield is drawn up around you, eventually connecting.
" This is it guys. " Ben says softly.
" Never figured we'd make it this far. " Lui says.
Link scoffs, giving him a look.
" What's that even supposed to mean? "
" You slept through all your classes. Ben was busy drawing random doodles instead of actually taking notes and Y/N was usually busy bullying Helen- speaking of him, what will you do if you come face to face with him? " Lui asks, turning to face you.
You shrug, you hadn't thought of that.
" I don't know, I guess I'll just actively avoid him. " You say, not entirely sure on what to do either.
" I don't think you can, Y/N. From what happened at Malfoy Manor- I think he'll go looking for you first thing. " Link points out.
You hum, thinking for a moment. Truth to be told, you're scared. You don't know what'll be of Helen. You know he's definitely done some horrible stuff. And you could barely recognize him when you were locked up with him.
" Just stay close to any of us. Well all be taking the back flank anyway, right? " Ben suggests.
" Yeah-" Link starts, however, he's cut off as hundreds of spells hit the shield.
-
" You'll go looking for L/N, won't you? " Draco asks Helen, who gave him a blank look, before throwing another spell on the shield.
" Why do you need to know? "
" I've got to go get something. From Potter. I could use some back up. "
" Ask your aunt, she seems to quite enjoy herself. " He says, throwing a short glance at Lestrange, who was indeed, having 'fun'.
The dark lord however, was not, it seemed to be taking too long, and so he finally drew his wand.
And so, the field collapsed.
" Look, I doubt Voldemort will win. I just want Y/N. I don't care about him or his fickle obsession with power and eternal life. " Helen spat, before apparating straight into the Great Hall, on his way to you.
-
You're running. Chaos is surrounding you from everywhere. As expected, You've lost Link. Instead you thankfully did find Jeff, Lui's brother. You have no idea who's side he's on if you're honest, but he seems to have your back. So you'll have his for now.
Unbeknownst to you, Helen is already out looking for you. From a distance, he looks untouchable. Like always, he remains unbothered and untouchable, making his way through the crowd without much trouble.
He doesn't look at who he fires a spell, he doesn't care who's friend he just killed, he has his mind set on only one thing. You.
He's done waiting.
He'll do whatever it takes to have you now.
Thankfully, it doesn't take him long to find you. He's less pleased to see you're not alone, instead back to back with Jeff.
He doesn't need to call you before your eyes connect.
You freeze. Jeff turns around to yell at you when he feels you freeze up, but when he turns to see Helen a short distance away, he too freezes.
No one says anything, everything around you happens in slowmotion.
Untill the building starts to rumble.
Jeff is the first to react, running off without second thought. Helen is next, pulling you into him before he leads the two of you away.
He covers you as the roof of the hallway you're stood in breaks, and when he trips over a fallen piece of brick, he makes sure you don't hit the ground.
He holds you close to his body, reveling in the feeling of having you close to him.
After a moment, you finally seem to come to your senses when you get up again. And after a moment of pondering about it, you hold out a hand to Helen.
He takes it without hesitation.
" Y/N I-"
He's interrupted with Voldemort's message. He's withdrawing his forces, calling out to Harry personally this time. By the time he's done, you swallow.
" Seems you have to go." You swallow.
Your grip on his hand loosens, , but his tightens.
" I'm not going anywhere, N/N." He says
You don't know how to reply. Your mind is overrun with opinions and thoughts of him.
Before, you seemed so sure he had gone bad, that he was a terrible person. But now? Everytime you look into his eyes, you feel yourself melt.
Will it be so bad to be a little more selfish and choose for yourself this once? Will it be that bad if you choose for him?
Before you can make a choice, Lui comes running in your direction.
He doesn't seem to care when he spots Helen, and that immediately makes you concerned.
" Y-Y/N, It's Link."
Moments later, you're stood in the make shift infirmary which used to be the Great Hall. There's tears streaming down your face, and you're holding Ben close as the both of you sob together.
Link is laid on a makeshift bed, his eyes closed. He doesn't look peaceful, he looks like he's in pain, something that makes you sob louder.
Helen's watching the scene with sad eyes. Although things between him and his old friends had been tense the past year, he still holds dear memories with Link.
About twenty minutes later, you and Helen are sat on a curb outside. The weather seems to have cleared up the slightest bit and you're tucked into his side, your eyes closed in exhaustion, though you're very much awake.
" Let's run away."
You open your eyes at his words, a few tears escaping as you're stuck in grief.
" W-what? But what about Ben, and Lui, and-"
He wipes your tears as he cuts you off.
" I've told you I would help you escape. I didn't back than. Now is our moment, let's leave the war, N/N. Let's create our own paradise."
You want to say yes. You really, really want to.
But what about your friends?
He kisses the top of your head, before letting go of you and getting up.
" This isn't our fight. It never was. Let's go."
You look at him, studying him for a few minutes.
Will you take it?

This is part eight of a multipart series. You can find part seven here
A/n: hello lovelies and welcome back to Angst Central. I know, last chapter was nothing but fluff, but I just love some angst. Please let me know what you think, I love to hear your thoughts!

For hours you sit there with Remus, on the bench in Hogsmeade. Kissing, talking, cuddling. Every time your lips touch, you feel like you’re about to burst from happiness. Every time his hand touches a part of your body, you feel yourself melt a little more.  It’s like you’re both teenagers again, being in love for the first time.
‘We really should go back to the castle, Remus,’ you said for the second time when you break apart to catch your breath. The first time he just ignored your words by pressing his lips firmly onto yours, locking you into a passionate kiss.
‘I don’t want this night to end,’ he mumbled, looking into your eyes, drinking you in.
‘I know, but we have to be back before midnight because of the protective enchantments,’ you said unwillingly. It’s not like you want to go, but you feel the responsibility.  The headmaster explained it all on your first night back at Hogwarts. Teachers obviously have more freedom than the students, but are also supposed to be back in the castle before midnight. That’s when additional protective enchantments start working. You don’t even want to think about what will happen when you arrive at the castle too late.
‘I know. You’re right. I bet you were a delightful prefect back in the day. Patrolling the corridors, hoping to find some students breaking curfew so you could discipline them,’ he answered with a grin.
‘Well, mister Lupin, if I remember correctly I did stumble upon four Gryffindors during one of my patrols back in the day and I let them off very easily,’ you answered. Remus’ friends at Hogwarts had been the infamous James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew and they had been known for their mischief and trouble. Remus had always been the quiet one, the one who tried to stop his friends from doing anything too stupid. When you caught the boys roaming the corridors late at night, they begged you not to tell anyone. They were all already in detention and promised to return to their dormitory right away. The least favorite part of being a prefect for you had always been punishing students , so it wasn’t too bad to just turn a blind eye.
Remus grinned at the memory and got up, reluctantly. He held out his hand to take yours and helped you up. A feeling of familiarity overcame you when you started walking back, hand in hand. It was cliché but your hand seemed to fit into his perfectly. You didn’t talk much on your way back, but you were both walking slowly as if you were trying to make the night last for as long as possible. As soon as you saw the castle, you dropped his hand.
‘Excuse me?’ he said and he immediately tried to grab hold of your hand again. You crossed your arms in front of you. Well, this was going to be awkward.
‘Sorry, Rem, but I don’t want people to know yet. Especially not the students. Imagine what that will do to my reputation.' You hated the words that came out of your mouth, every single one of them, but they were true. You didn’t want the gossip to be about your love life. You just wanted to keep this private while it still was so new and delicate.
'I understand,' he said coolly, which gave you the impression he very much did not understand, but he didn't take your hand again. Instead he opened the heavy hardwood doors of the castle for you. Even when he was offended, he was still a gentleman.
'I don't want to be upfront, but do you want to go to my office? Maybe have something to drink? Talk a bit more?' he asked and you nodded instantly.
'Yes, I would love that.'  It was crazy how different the start of this night was from how it was ending. It was a relief that you finally confessed your feelings to Remus. You walked to his classroom and Remus opened the door for you. As soon as you stepped inside, he grabbed your hands and pulled you towards him until his lips touched yours once more. When he dropped one of your hands to place his hand on the small of your back, you let your hand travel into his hair.
You froze when you heard a cough. Someone else was in the classroom. You quickly broke apart and when you turned to see who coughed, your heart dropped. Severus Snape was sitting behind Remus’ desk, a smoking goblet of potion in front of him.
‘Severus, I don’t remember inviting you into my office,’ Remus said coldly. It was the first time he dropped his overly-kind attitude towards Severus.
'It was not my idea to sit and wait here for you. Watching over you like you're a little child, checking to see if you're taking your potion but the headmaster insisted,’ Severus said. His tone was even colder and more unfriendly than usual, which was quite an achievement.
‘My potion,’ Remus said quietly. You couldn’t believe it. Did he truly forget his potion? The one thing that would make him a bit less dangerous during his transformations? You automatically took a step back as if you were trying to distance yourself.
‘Once again there’s nothing more I can do than warn you, miss Y/L/N. I can tell my previous warnings haven’t had any effect, but it would be wise to reconsider your company,’ he said to you, raising his eyebrows.
‘I’m perfectly capable of choosing my own company, Severus,’ you snapped back. He only shrugged.
‘Your funeral. Good night,’ he mumbled. He quickly collected his things, it looked like he had been grading essays while he waited for Remus, and left the classroom without another word.
As soon as Severus had closed the door behind him, Remus came closer, but you automatically stepped back.
‘Your potion, Remus. You should take it.’  He nodded and walked over to his desk, taking the goblet into his hands. You watched as he drank the whole potion in one go.
‘All right then. Can I offer you a drink, love?’ he said as soon as he had put the goblet down.
‘No thanks. I think it’s better if I left. You should get some rest,’ you answered, ignoring the disappointment you felt. This night had been perfect, up until now, when you were hit by reality.
‘Wait, what’s wrong, love? Is it Severus? Because I think it’s better to ignore him. He always wants to call me out on something. Don’t let it bother you.’ You couldn’t believe what you were hearing.
‘Are you kidding me? This is the second time that I see you simply forget to take your Wolfsbane potion. The one thing that makes you a little less dangerous. You can’t forget about it Remus, you are surrounded by people here. Kids mostly. It’s stupid and irresponsible. Severus is right.’
The silence that followed felt heavy. You knew you had struck a nerve, but there was no way you were going to dance around this. He was being irresponsible.
‘Godric’s sake, Y/N!’ he suddenly yelled. He startled you and you automatically took a step back.
‘I’m sorry, I, it’s just.. I’m not blaming you by saying this, but I forgot about it. I know it’s stupid and I know it’s not an excuse but when I’m with you I don’t think about it. It’s like the whole werewolf thing doesn’t exist when I’m with you. You make me feel… incredible, really,’ he said. You knew his words were supposed to calm you down, to compliment you, but they made you feel guilty instead.
‘If that’s the case then it’s probably better if I keep my distance,’ you heard yourself say. You saw the expression on his change, the smile disappeared. You knew your words were breaking his heart, but if they would keep him safe, it might be worth it.
‘I just forgot about it for a while, Y/N. I’m sure I would have remembered it soon enough,’ he said. He sounded like he was trying to bargain.
‘Yeah, that’s not good enough, Remus. See, I need you to take care of yourself. I need to be able to trust you. And I know your intentions are good, but I can’t be the reason you forget such important things as taking the potion. I can’t. I refuse to be that person,’ you said, voice trembling while trying to hold back the tears that burned in your eyes.
‘What do you mean? Everything I said tonight is true, love. I feel so much better when I’m with you. You are exactly what I need right now,’ he said and this time, he had grabbed your hands again. You resisted the urge to kiss him. This wasn’t the time to be selfish. To indulge into this romance. You needed him to be safe and healthy and apparently your presence was preventing just that.
‘I have to go. Get some rest. Think about it. We’ll talk later,’ you heard yourself mumble. Remus dropped your hands and when you tried to look him in the eyes, he was avoiding your gaze. He didn’t say anything when you walked to the door, nor when you opened it. He let you walk away in silence. All the way to your office you could held back your tears, but as soon as you entered your office, the tears started to flow.
You wondered if you did the right thing or just lost someone really special.

The Marauders & The Metamorphic Witch (Part 11)
Tumblr media
Words: 2.6K Warning: A bit of sibling fluff - mentions of Voldemort and the First Wizarding War build-up Pronouns Used: She/Her - (Y/N) also used
"Are you serious about this?" asked (Y/N), turning into the grand stairwell with Marlene. The pair walked toward the Great Hall for breakfast, suspecting things would be just as crazy as normal. "It could be dangerous," she added, concern flooding her otherwise smooth voice. Nonetheless, a small smile appeared on her lips, even more so to see Marlene understood where her concern was coming from.
"I'm sure, like the boys, I trust you with the potion," stated Marlene, brushing some of her blonde locks over her shoulder and straightening out her black robes. Her grin remained unmoved as she began to think about the conversations she'd had with each of the boys and (Y/N) how it all just made her more determined to become an Animagus, although for her own reasons. She knew it was dangerous and probably against the school rules and against the ministry if they didn't register their ability, but it was still something she wanted to do. The danger meant nothing; all she wanted was to understand her best friend more and ensure (Y/N) wasn't alone when she struggled to control her unique abilities.
"I wonder if Lily handled the drama with Isolde and Allegra," spoke Remus from behind, Sirius next to him as the pair jogged to catch up with the girls. Sirius could only roll his eyes, clearly recalling the nightmare Christmas break had been, the constant fighting and never-ending yelling between the two. Allegra's insults always follow her favorite three words of I hate you.
"Speaking of Lily Flower, reckon she'd go with me to Valentine's dance?" asked James, walking with Peter just in front of the girls. The small group walked down the last few steps, the large golden doors within view.
"I'd rather kiss the giant squid," replied Lily, stepping through the doors leading to the chilly courtyard, the drizzly rain dampening her fiery hair. Isolde was on one side, with Severus on the other. The dark-haired Slytherin boy seemingly ignored the four to torment him. James's intended insult had been caught in his throat the moment Remus harshly jabbed his shoulder, whereas Sirius had been met with a whack across the back of the head by (Y/N). Peter, too, had been stopped by the warning glare Marlene had sent his way, thrust, stamping out any confidence he might have gained to start something on his own.
"How do you do that so easily?" asked Isolde, a chuckle escaping her lips as James rubbed his shoulder and glared at Remus, who was fairly content ignoring it. Sirius had let out a loud ow before reaching for his head. He'd been met with (Y/N) grinning innocently at him with mischief alight in her eyes. He'd only managed to stick his tongue out before a grin pulled the corner of his lips.
"Hey, Snivellus," called Allegra, as if she was the coolest girl in the castle; a wickedly sweet smile graced her lips as if she was unaware the name was meant as a way to torment the Slytherin boy in question. She'd heard James and Sirius refer to him as such and mindlessly followed along.
"That's not my name," harshly replied Severus, not bothering to spare the brunette muggle-born a glance. Instead, his cold glare was aimed at the three that took almost all opportunity given to torment him.
"How about teaching me some of those spells you've been working on?" commented Allegra as if ignoring the previous statement entirely. Her smile turned victorious upon gaining his attention, his dark eyes filled with a mixture of anger and surprise that someone knew what he was doing, or at least someone he deemed an enemy knew what he was doing. "Maybe you could give me some advice," she pestered, almost as if she was blind to the obvious.
"Pay attention in class," bluntly stated Severus before walking off into the Great Hall, only saying a quiet goodbye to Lily and Isolde before doing so. He seemed oblivious to the chuckles left in his wake and the almost compliment James sent his way. Nice on Snivellus.
"Er ... Rude," called Allegra, an offended expression painting on her features as she stomped off into the hall, wanting to get a seat and enjoy the food before all her favorites were gone. Upon entering, she was met with the same people mingling in groups, another reminder of how lonely and invisible she truly felt. However, she painted a smile and acted as if she was a queen.
"Allegra," called a girl. Ulrica was her name. She was another Gryffindor Student, bright, funny, and smart, or so Allegra thought. She was in the same year and had mainly kept to herself for the most part, at least until the train trip back to Hogwarts after the Christmas Holidays. There were rumors she had snapped and displayed a mean streak every since. As did her best friends Georgie and Samantha. "Come join us," said Ulrica, waving the Smith twins over with a gracious smile, even friendly. Actions that were foreign to her and the two closest to her.
Without a second thought, Allegra wondered over, a smile of her own; she dared not get her hopes up, especially upon noticing the two third-year Slytherin girls also there. Raya Snyde and Jessica Rosier. Like most Slytherins, they had a knack for the Dark Arts and an admiration for the Dark Lord, slowly growing in power and becoming a greater threat every passing day.
"That doesn't strike up confidence for the better," quietly spoke Lily upon entering the hall with Isolde, Marlene, and (Y/N), the Marauders following along behind, wrapped up in their own conversation. With a hand clasping the back of his head, Sirius still appeared to nurse a growing headache. "Do tell Snap what's going between you and Sirius," laughed Lily, calling (Y/N) by the nickname Hunter had called her on so many occasions.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Lil," replied (Y/N), playing innocent even if she did know where it was going. In recent weeks, she'd begun to take notice of how people whispered whenever she walked by, even how the whispering increased if she was around the Marauders, specifically Sirius. Slowly, she began to realize the playful flirting had gained attention, as had their friendship as it slowly blossomed. Similarly, Marlene had taken more notice when it became common knowledge that she and Remus could be found together during study time. They often worked together when professors insisted on a girl-boy partnership, as (Y/N) and Sirius did.
"Sirius, you toerag," called Lily, her accusing eyes finding the fluffy-haired boy quickly. The playful insult fell from her lips with a serious undertone to it. "What have you done to corrupt my precious Snap?" she asked, Isolde chuckling from beside her as Marlene tried her hardest to contain her growing amusement. Even more so when the wizard looked confused and caught off guard.
"Told you it would stick," spoke Hunter as he walked by, bending over to wrap his younger sister in a sibling hug filled with affection. A bright, carefree smile on his lips as he did so. "Love ya, little Snap," he called as he left, stopping a short distance away so he could hear her normal sweet reply.
"I think I might try that with Mason," replied Marlene, with a smile of her own. "It's adorable how fearless you both are."
"When does that start happening to our Isolde?" asked (Y/N), seeing how Isolde paled at the thought of such a public display of affection, especially in a romantic way. "I'm just joking with you, Issy. Although I don't think I've seen Hunter this googly-eyed about anyone before," she laughed, even more so when Isolde rolled her eyes in a playful way and turned her attention to the playful argument going on between Sirius, Remus, and Lily regarding them corrupting her precious Snap and irreplaceable Mar.
"And you two call me the mom of the group," commented Marlene, chuckling as Peter tried to make himself as small as possible while eating his cereal, almost as if he was terrified Lily's attention would turn on him at any second, and he'd be forced to defend himself.
"I heard that, Mar," called Lily with a playful wink. "Think of me as your protective sister who's gonna kick some butt," she added as her attention returned to the two boys in question. Both of them shared a glance; James laughing in the background was soon brought to a halt when Lily threw a piece of screwed-up parchment at his head, hitting her target with victory and causing others to take notice of the interaction and chuckle.
"I kinda feel sorry for Hunter when he gets put through this," voiced (Y/N), knowing her brother was both brave and smart, but she doubted he could come up with something quick enough to defend against Lily and her protectiveness. However, he would likely call her adorable and compliment her on her chosen tactics. "Should I advise him to prepare?" she said with a smile.
"I promise I haven't corrupted the snappy dragon," softly spoke Sirius, holding his hands up as if to surrender. "If anything, I encourage the chaos already there," he added, quickly dodging when Lily threw her hand towards him in a swotting manner.
"Snappy Dragon?" questioned (Y/N), confusion rife in her voice as she tried to comprehend the nickname and decide whether she liked it. "That's a terrible combination, Seriously Strong," she replied, responding with a cheesy nickname. Causing even Peter to burst into a fit of laughter.
"If anything, Lil," spoke Remus, his voice calm despite the feeling of being interrogated and dreading the full moon fast approaching. " Black Snap brings the playfulness out of each other. She encourages him to be better, while he jokingly teases her to keep her out of trouble and vers her attention back to where it should be, especially in class. We all know how easily (Y/N) can get distracted," he added, speaking truths those who looked close enough could see. The map and the potion had provided a distraction, enough that (Y/N) wasn't turning the castle into a nightmare of pranks.
"As for the other pair. We all know it would be Mar corrupting our innocent Remmy," called Isolde, laughing at the unimpressed look Marlene sent in her direction, and the quizzical look Remus had painted on his own features as he questioned when he'd branded so innocent.
"Remus. Innocent? Are you sure you know him?" called James.
"Compared to the rest of you, he's innocent," replied Lily before settling down at the table between Peter and Isolde, wasting little time in reaching for the toast and her favorite spread. The conversation soon turned to the lessons that day. Defense Against The Dark Arts, Potions, Transfigurations, Spells, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures. It was a busy day, with those who were a part of the Quidditch team also having practice after dinner that night. No doubt preparing for the last match of the season, Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff.
At the end of the long Hufflepuff Table near the golden doors, Allegra sat with Ulrica, Georgie, Samantha, Raya, and Jessica, smiling as she engaged in conversation, the feeling of belonging overwhelming her. All she had hoped for seemed to come true; she was building friendships with people with the same beliefs and idealism. They, too, wanted to be famous when they were older; they wanted to be known across the world just like her. Neither Ulrica nor Georgie was overly fond of her twin Isolde or the three girls she called friends.
Quickly, they had clued Allegra in on their plan; they were going to terrorize the scared Marauder. Peter. It would start out small enough, a spell here and there, in a similar way to how the prank war had begun between the Marauders and (Y/N) before it flourished into a friendship. But as time passed, they were going to get bolder and bolder. Their goal was to get him to be suspicious of everything, terrified to leave the tower even for classes and fun with friends.
"That won't work," spoke Allegra upon being clued in with the entire plan. "Peter is never alone, and it's almost impossible to get him on his own. He surrounds himself with more powerful friends for a reason," she added, displaying her power of observation and the little knowledge she had on the larger group of her stupid twin found herself a part of. "Exploit his lack of confidence, make it seem like it's better for him to be with you. If he thinks you'll protect him better than James, Sirius, and Remus, you'll be able to turn him against them and use him to get information to torment them. Maybe even about their secret plans," finished Allegra, providing helpful insight and quickly proving her value.
"Could help us gain information as a means of blackmail," spoke Samantha, a vicious intent ringing through her otherwise quiet voice, her eyes glimmering with malice at the thoughts of the wicked games.
"Tell me more about this Dark Lord," spoke Allegra, not caring if she came across as an idiot to her new friends. She was a muggle-born, after all; like many with no magic, she was obvious and blind to what happened in the magical world most of the time. To the point she hadn't even realized there was a growing threat and that war was already happening.
"Lord Voldemort," spoke Raya, her voice no louder than a whisper, as if to keep the conversation secret from those passing by. "He's not normally fond of Mudbloods, but I'm willing to bet he'd make an exception for one as like-minded as you," she added, using the term mudblood so casually that one wouldn't have immediately assumed it was an insult. "He's looking to recruit into his ranks. Death Eaters, his followers. Together, they aim to bring change to the wizarding community and bring the vision of Salazar Slytherin true. First Britain, then the world," she added as if the whole thing was the best thing since magic.
"The war by the Ministry. Of course, they don't agree with his vision. Dad says once the Order of the Phoenix is eliminated, the Ministry will fall, then our Wizarding World will be reformed for a better future," spoke Jessica, not hiding her intentions to join the ranks of the Death Eaters when she graduated from Hogwarts, just as her brother Evan also intended to do when he left school. "Most of the pure-blood families are supporters, with the exception of a few blood traitors," she mumbled, immediately thinking of Aleister Moody, The Wolffe family, and the Weasleys. A few members of the Black family also disagreed with the traditions of pure-blood ideals. Most notably Andromeda Tonks. Sirius was showing signs of it, too.
"Voldemort will win. The wizarding world needs him to survive. It's gotten weak," rambled Georgie, ignoring the fact her mother was a muggle who believed in magic, ignoring she was a half-blood. "Dad is a firm believer in Voldemort's vision," she added confidently, seemingly oblivious to her father breaking the traditions of his pure-blood family to marry a muggle. Seemingly forgetting she was the only one out of three to be gifted with magic like her father. Her two sisters were magicless squibs, taking after their mother and blending into the ordinary world. Their father had forbidden them from knowing the magical world.
"So how does one become a Death Eater?" asked Allegra, wanting nothing more than to be a part of a movement that would reform the magical world. Oblivious, it would be her own kind that the war was against and that of normal muggles blind to the magic surrounding them. All she cared about was being a part of something that shared her beliefs, something that would eventually change the world. Unaware Voldemort sort to be a greater threat than Gellert Grindelwald had been before.

Tumblr media
Harry and Y/n looked worriedly at Sirius, who was now lying in bed sleeping for three days. Y/n held his hand and pressed the pendant of his necklace in the shape of a small black heart.
It had been three days since the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. It had been crazy; several Death Eaters were present. Y/n and Sirius learnt that Harry and his friends were in the department and didn't think twice about going to help them. The rest of the Order members went too, and then the battle began. It had been so long since Y/n had fought, but he still had skills, the same for Sirius. There came a moment when everything went into slow motion for Y/n, she saw Sirius and Harry sending several attacks against the Death Eaters. Harry was too stubborn and wouldn't leave.
Y/n then saw the moment when Bellatrix arrived:
"Avada Kedavra..."
"Protego!" - Y/n shouted, shielding Harry and Sirius, creating a barrier. The spell came back to Bellatrix, and she deflected it. Bellatrix was possessed now.
"Incarcerous!" - Bellatrix screamed, and Y/n felt ropes around her neck. She fell to the floor, desperate, trying to get the rope off, which was tightening by the second, leaving her breathless. Bellatrix laughed, Sirius was about to send a spell at her, but another Death Eater hit him, making Sirius fall unconscious. Lupin saw the situation and started to fight the Death Eater. Bellatrix was still laughing as she kept Y/n with the rope around her neck:
"You will die, you will die" - Bellatrix hummed - "very slowly" - she continued.
Desperate Harry shouted:
"Stupefy!" - Bellatrix flew away and was never seen again after that.
Y/n inhaled sharply and coughed, now she could breathe again. Her vision was blurred but she tried to get up to go to Sirius who was on the floor, but she unbalanced and fell suddenly, Harry stopped and started moving his head in a strange way. Y/n looked at him without understanding anything, Harry was far away from her. Then she saw a shadow coming; her eyes widened. Voldemort appeared, and somewhere Bellatrix's happy laugh could be heard. Harry dropped his wand, then Dumbledore arrived. Y/n wanted to run over there, but her vision was still blurred from nearly fainting from losing her breath. She saw sparks; where Harry was, she couldn't find him. Fire? Water? Her vision began to return, and Dumbledore was battling Voldemort now. Y/n was getting close, wanting to help, when she saw Voldemort turn to dust and Harry run out of air. Y/n's heart squeezed at that moment; it hurt. She didn't know what to do, she was paralysed. Harry was on the floor, and Dumbledore was whispering something to him. Sirius was on the floor, unconscious. She just wanted to help them both. Her eyes filled with tears, and then Harry's friends approached. Harry watched everyone from the ground, including her. Suddenly, Harry started whispering something she couldn't hear, and he stopped moaning in pain. Voldemort reappeared and whispered something to him. Then ministry officials began to appear, and Voldemort disappeared.
"He's back" whispered Cornelius Fudge.
Three days and Sirius was still unconscious Harry saw Y/n run her hand over the necklace a few times so he broke the silence
"You really like that necklace..."
Y/n smiled "It was Sirius who gave it to me as a gift, I got into the habit of touching it when I'm anxious, when Sirius was in Azkaban, I always did that, it gave me the feeling that he was with me, it gave me strength."
Harry just nodded in understanding
"He fought very well for someone who was in Azkaban for so long, I wonder what he was like before that" Harry said looking at Sirius.
"He was always very skilful, extremely intelligent, I remember spending days studying, while he read for a few hours and then going out with the boys to get up to something and his grades were incredible, I found his ease for things unbelievable, all the Marauders  were like that, that's why they got along so well, they managed to do well in their subjects and there was plenty of time for messes, when I found out about the map I was surprised and fascinated, they were able to create something so incredible and they were so young, in this you take after your father, so young and capable of incredible things for his age"
Harry gave a small smile was silent for a while and spoke:
"He called me James during the battle" Harry had a sad look on his face
Y/n also had a sad expression now "Sirius hasn't been the same since Azkaban, that place has mistreated him in ways I can't imagine, he's an extremely strong person, but it's impossible for someone to go through there and not have after-effects, he has a lot of nightmares they've diminished over time at first it was much worse, but he still has them" Harry looked surprised at Y/n and she kept looking at Sirius' face. "I'm sure that during his time there he held on to the good memories he had with his friends at Hogwarts, a great way to have a good patronus isn't it?" Y/n looked at Harry sideways and gave a small smile, but then turned her gaze back to her fiancé "The only way he can protect himself from that bad energy of the dementors.... And I did that with him all this time since he left Azkaban, I tried to build new happy memories, but the old memories seemed to affect him more, I wanted to focus more on reality, but we were trapped inside that house and it turned out that I also got into a bubble of the past with him."
"That's not bad, if it's something that gives you strength and makes you feel good it's impossible to be bad, in the ministry when Voldemort tried to manipulate me it was the memories of my friends with me, you and Sirius that made me stronger than Voldemort, that made me beat him, you didn't stop living because of those memories, but you managed to go on with your life with that."
Y/n looked at Harry and smiled and Harry smiled back it was the first time in days that they had given a real and genuine smile.
"Wise Harry" y/n commented
"I've been talking to Dumbledore a lot"
Y/n's smile widened
The nurse then arrived to give one more potion of the many that Sirius had already received.
Sometime later Y/n had an expression of amusement
"So, you drank your juice looked at the girl and when you smiled you spat out all the juice"
Harry nodded ungraciously "in that I'm sure I wasn't the same as my father"
"Oh no, you sure got that from your dad, you don't know how much fun I had with the bad pick up lines James used to give Lily, he wasn't very good, but at the same time he wasn't insecure, he wasn't afraid to come and talk to Lily and she liked that attitude of his, she played hard to get until she realised she was in love."
Harry smiled imagining the situation "I bet Sirius was just as confident"
"Yes, he was" Y/n touched the necklace "Actually the history of this necklace is quite controversial in relation to Sirius' unshakeable confidence"
Harry looked at her curiously for her to continue.
Tumblr media
"Hi love," Sirius approached and slipped his arms around Y/n's shoulder as they walked, she smiled and kissed his cheek
"Hi, how was Quidditch practice?"
"Good, I wish you were there"
Y/n laughed "to see the other girls screaming for you? No thanks"
"I'd just watch you, and the points I made would all be dedicated to you" Sirius said with a beautiful smile, y/n couldn't help but smile, how could someone be so charming?
"Next game I'll be the first to arrive" she then gave him a peck
He smiled "Shall we have dinner?" she just nodded
On the way to the great hall Y/n commented
"I love this time of year; I think I'll be travelling with my family and Hogwarts decorations look beautiful" Sirius smiled at her excitement.
"That's nice... I've never cared much for Christmas; with the problems I have with my family I try to avoid them as much as possible" Y/n looked at him annoyed.
"Are you spending Christmas here at Hogwarts?"
Sirius shrugged "believe me, it's a thousand times better than spending it at my house" Y/n remained silent.
On Christmas Day Sirius woke up to a pillow being thrown in his face
"Really James?" Sirius spoke with a sleepy expression "you should be spending the holiday with your family, today my goal is to sleep...lunch...sleep...dinner, I'll do it all over again tomorrow." he said.
James rolled his eyes "no mate, not really, me and Remus are staying here because we care about you and we'll keep you company
Sirius raised an eyebrow "or because Remus found a supposed passage out of Hogwarts..."
"That too, as the school is emptier in the holidays it's better to investigate, then we can put it on the map."
Remus arrived "Let's have breakfast!"
Sirius stood up defeated, his face still crumpled from sleep "ok...ok I hope this passage is worth it" He grumbled.
In the common room Sirius was walking down the stairs when he saw a smiling y/n holding a present, he looked at her surprised and as he approached asked:
"Weren't you going travelling with your parents?"
"Well, I'll have other opportunities to travel with them, I thought it would be nice to spend this Christmas with you" her smile widened.
Sirius still looked at her surprised, but his expression changed, the way he looked at her at that moment made y/n unlearn how to breathe, it was as if he was looking deep into her soul, she felt hot and unresponsive with just that look, but Sirius' expression changed again and he was wide-eyed now
"Y/n... I..." he whispered, and quickly left the room
She was extremely confused now, looking at the present he didn't even pick up
"Y/n!" She heard James' voice calling her "You stayed for Christmas" she just nodded
"Sirius must have been very happy" it was Remus' turn to comment
Y/n looked upset at the two "actually, I don't know, he left here without even picking up my present"
"That's odd... he must have been very surprised" James said, running his fingers along his chin.
"I wonder if he didn't like me being here." Y/n's heart squeezed with such a hypothesis.
"Of course not Y/n, he must have some explanation, I think he went for breakfast, shall we?" Remus replied making way for her to pass
"I'll meet you there, I'll leave the present on his bed"
They nodded and left the common room.
A while later when y/n arrived she sat down next to the boys, she looked at Sirius who kept his gaze on his plate, she now looked at James and Remus without understanding anything they also looked confused, James then broke the silence:
"So.... Y/n why did you decide to stay at Hogwarts?
"I thought it would be nice to spend this Christmas here" she replied still looking at Sirius
Sirius kept his gaze on his plate, Remus made a noise clearing his throat at the awkward silence that hung in the air
"Well... I'm... I'm going to go; I'll see you guys later... I guess..." she stood up and walked away.
James elbowed Sirius in the ribs and he grimaced in pain.
"What's your problem? She stayed here for you!" James looked angry
Sirius sighed "I know, I know, I just..."
"You didn't want her here? Remus interrupted him
"I think I..." Sirius sighed again "I.... well, I... I just" his breathing was uneven
Remus and James looked at him confused "What's going on Sirius?" James asked worriedly
"I...I think I love her ok...and when I saw her in the common room today, for me, I was sure of that feeling, I just took off and left"
James and Remus looked at each other, they both tried to hide their amused expression, but soon started laughing
Sirius had an annoyed expression now
Remus took a deep breath to speak still laughing "Sirius you.... " he paused to take another breath from laughing "did you react like that because you love her?" he laughed again
"That's hilarious" it was James' turn to comment
"That's not funny, I've never felt like that before, I didn't know how to act" Sirius spoke in exasperation
James took a deep breath now, drying a tear "now she thinks you didn't like her being here, she's pretty upset"
Sirius grimaced and then walked off to find her.
He went to his room to see if she was there and saw the present on his bed, when he opened it he saw a leather jacket, he smiled and got nervous, he had to find her and explain everything, he took the map that was in the drawer saw that she was near the lake and went there.
When he got there, he saw her standing in front of the lake and he approached her.
"Isn't it too cold for you to be out here?"
Y/n turned to him and his heart started racing again
"I'm sorry" She spoke softly
Sirius looked at her confused "For what?"
"I wanted to surprise you and I didn't even know if you wanted me to be here or not" she said sadly.
He moved closer "I do, I was so happy when I saw you"
She crossed her arms because of the cold "it didn't look like it"
"I... when I saw you... well... me" he sighed, she looked at him worried and touched his chest "Sirius?"
He continued "I wanted to say that I felt very happy when I saw you today and well...I felt very happy and..." y/n was very confused now Sirius was having breathing problems...should she call someone?
"And...you're beautiful" she gave a small smile Sirius' next sentence came out in a whisper "I love you" she looked at him in surprise "w..what?"
"Very much, I love you very much and when I saw you there smiling at me, I didn't know what to do with the feeling, I got nervous, I didn't know how to act, I..." He was interrupted with a kiss, which made him calm down he put his hands on her waist and when they stopped kissing, they put their foreheads together
"I love you too" Y/n spoke with her eyes still closed Sirius opened his eyes and smiled from ear to ear, he then pulled away and took from his pocket a necklace with a pendant in the shape of a small black heart he handed it to her
"I was going to give it to you when school started again, but since you're here..."
She smiled "I loved it, so beautiful"
He helped her put it on and while he was putting it on, she commented "I left your present on your bed”, he looked at her again "I saw it, and I really liked it, you know me so well, thank you for staying here" he kissed her again, Y/n smiled between the kiss he stopped kissing her and looked back smiled "what?"
"Has it become our thing to leave the room and leave the other extremely confused?"
Sirius laughed "my revenge"
Y/n laughed and kissed him.
Tumblr media
Harry had a big grin on his face, then they heard a grunt "I can't believe you told him that story"
Y/n and Harry looked in surprise towards Sirius who now had his eyes open, they both hugged him Sirius smiled.
"I'm glad you're awake" Y/n said with tearful eyes.
"Don't cry love, I'm fine, but I really didn't realise how much I needed the hug from you two until I got it" Sirius said smiling
Harry smiled "I'll get the nurse" he left the room
"Where am I?" Sirius asked
"St Mungus Hospital" she replied, Sirius couldn't contain his surprised expression, he was in the wizarding hospital? A place with other people? Away from his home? Did he try to move as he became agitated by the thoughts and the Death Eaters? Sirius tried to get up, but y/n stopped him. "Easy there, you need to rest."
"What I'm doing here is dangerous, the Death Eaters, the Dementors..." Sirius spoke now sitting up in bed
"Relax, Sirius, many people saw what you did at the ministry, how you protected Harry and fought against the Death Eaters, in fact you almost died in battle, they are arguing about your innocence at trial" she spoke without containing her happiness
Sirius sighed in disbelief, he had dreamt of this every day since James and Lily's death
"It's not possible" he whispered in disbelief
The nurse arrived next to Harry and started watching Sirius, it was possible to see caution in her gaze, some people looked at Sirius crookedly, they still didn't believe he was innocent.
"He needs two more potions to finish the treatment and tomorrow he might be discharged" the nurse said and left quickly.
"People are still a little afraid of you, but you'll be fine and you're a free man! That's what matters" Y/n commented
Sirius still couldn't believe it, when would he wake up?
"What about the Death Eaters?"
"The Ministry caught the vast majority, plus the Ministry knows Voldemort is back, they saw him" Harry said handing Sirius a newspaper with the news of the battle at the Ministry, Sirius read it all in disbelief.
"Is all this really happening?" Sirius still couldn't believe it
"Yes, you don't have to hide anymore, love" Y/n replied smiling, Harry was smiling too
Sirius then began to smile, however his smile disappeared when he read a specific part in the newspaper.
He who must not be named returns
"It's the beginning of the war" Sirius looked at Harry and Y/n, both now equally serious just nodded.

Violet returns to Hogwarts after winter break to find out Sirius has done something very stupid. Masterlist.
Pairing: Sirius Black x Violet Evans (fem Evans!OC), established relationship.
Warnings: Violet gets annoyed, implied sexual content if you squint, not beta read (lemme know if there are glaring errors)
1978, January, beginning of second term
“Hey princess,” Sirius grabbed his girlfriend’s hips, pulling her into a kiss.
“Hi,” Violet said, grinning. “I missed you.” Her hands slid into the back pockets of his jeans; he always waited until the last possible minute to put on his robes.
"It hasn't even been a week since your sister's wedding," he tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. "That being said, I've missed you too. Like crazy, ma chérie."
He leant in for another kiss when the Hogwarts Express blew its horn, signaling the last chance for students to board. “Worst timing, hey?” Violet laughed, pulling apart from Sirius. “I've got to meet with the other prefects, but I'll come find you, okay?" She pecked his lips before taking off to the front carriage.
-
After an utterly pointless prefect meeting that had been sidetracked more than once by James (much to the annoyance of Lily), Violet and Remus made their way to a carriage at the end of the train where they found Sirius, Peter, Marlene and Mary.
After catching up on holiday news, Sirius, ever so predictably, turned the conversation on to himself.
“Vi, I have something to show you,” Sirius grinned, unbuttoning a couple more buttons from his shirt.
“Ugh,” Marlene groaned, “do you have to do that here?”
“Relax, it’s a new tattoo.” He pulled the his shirt collar down to reveal a flower tattooed on his chest, right above his heart. “Get it?”
“Is that a… a violet?” Violet’s eyes widened as she took in the ink. Telling by the scabbing, it was fresh. Each petal was darkly outlined and shaded with black, and filled in with hues of purple, yellow, and orange.
“Yup,” Sirius said proudly, turning to Remus to show him the new tattoo.
“You got a violet tattooed on you,” she said slowly, her eyes meeting Remus’s who gave her an understanding grimace. “Sirius we’ve haven’t even been dating for three months.”
Marlene and Mary groaned.
“I know, but I was going to get a new tattoo anyway, and the idea just came to me,” he turned back to her and saw the look on her face. “What, you don’t like it?”
She sighed, “I can’t deal with this right now. I'm going to find Morgana and Aisling,” she got up. “I’ll see you at dinner,” she slid the door of the carriage shut as she took off to find her friends.
"What did I do?" Sirius looked at his friends.
"You got a tattoo for her, mate," Remus shook his head. "And like she said, you haven't been going out very long." Remus reached across and moved Sirius's shirt, properly studying the art. It was clear Sirius had put thought into the placement of the tattoo. Green leaves framed the flower and weaved their way around the other ink on his chest. Two tiny words were scribbled above the top petal; ma chérie. It was obvious he'd thought about this piece longer than he let on. "I like it."
"You do?" Sirius did up a few of the buttons, leaving his tie loose.
"I think it was a bloody stupid thing to do so early in your relationship," Remus leant his head back and shut his eyes. "But it's a nice tattoo."
-
“Hey,” Sirius slid into the seat next to his girlfriend at the Gryffindor table. It was dinner time and she'd already made him a plate.
“Hi.”
“Look, I’m sorry about the tattoo. You know I’m impulsive. I love you, Vi, this was just my way of permanently proving it to the world. If it bothers you that much I’ll find a spell to remove it.”
Violet sighed and took his hand, intertwining their fingers, “I was shocked, that’s all. Now that I've had time to think about it, I actually think it’s quite sweet. Plus it shows everybody you’re all mine,” she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Permanently.”
“I am yours. Forever,” he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, his free hand settling on her thigh as he gave it a squeeze.
“I’m going to have to properly inspect it later. Make sure it’s up to my standard.”
“Of course, wouldn’t expect anything less. You got anything knew to show me?” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. She'd hinted at going shopping last time they saw each other.
“I may have bought some new things, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
He groaned, rubbing her thigh. “You’re too good to me, ma chérie.”

Two years ago, Lily turned down her boyfriend's public proposal. Her town and family haven't forgiven her for breaking his heart but she's come home and there's a few things from her past she'll have to confront.
This week’s (mini) chapter based on Jilytober’s #16 prompt, “I can never hate you.”
Read Chapter 3 on AO3
Read from the beginning
~oOo~
James watched Lily leave the bar; the low lighting darkened long her red hair, the shadows dancing around her. At the door, she paused and looked back, eyes going straight to him; her lips tilted into a small smile as she offered a little wave, and then was gone into the cold night.
Fifteen minutes, she’d told him, and then she’d be back.
James slumped back against the bar and ran his hands through his hair, knocking the frames of his glasses as he did. He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths, telling himself to get it together.
Lily Evans was back in town. Naming what she’d been to him was impossible— what did you call an enemy-friend-rival-infatuation-annoyance? Remembering their high school days brought aching nostalgia.
He’d seen her over the years, as they returned during uni breaks, their run ins sporadic and without substance. She’d been with Benjy and for a while, he’d had Betty.
Their paths had been so entwined in high school, of course they’d diverge eventually. But what was it Sirius said once? It was difficult for people to walk in straight lines; they wandered in circles, lost, before finding their way.
Betty eventually found Ivy, an old childhood friend, and James… well, sometimes—many times— he would stop and think about Lily. It was just sort of funny how she wandered in tonight.
James huffed a breath and pushed off from the bar; a few bottles rattled in his wake, but they remained in place. He picked up a damp cloth and went to clear away Lily’s dishes.
Jasmine, faint but enticing, still lingered in the space where she’d sat. She’d always smelled of flowers, but he wondered when she switched to this perfume. It was hard not to breath it in, knowing it was hers, and wondering what it would be like to smell it against her neck or the inside of her wrist.
Swallowing, James turned, dishes in hand, and found Sirius standing on the other side of the bar. A small pencil was tucked behind his ear and his hair was tied up in a messy bun— a classic sign he’d been deep in admin stuff.
Technically, they didn’t have to work thanks to their respective family inheritances but they bought the restaurant together; they liked the town, they was wanted to stay— they didn’t like sitting on their asses, or the lack of good food, however. Remus said they were crazy, but admitted it’d bring them character or something. While he served as their official accountant, Sirius found a new love in managing the restaurant, in getting to order people about and be in control of something that was his. James liked the dance of bartending, of preparing and creating while chatting with customers.
“Heard a rumor,” Sirius said, stretching his arms high above his head. If there wasn’t music ambiently playing, James was certain he’d hear several pops and cracks. “Something about a bitchy red head.”
“Wasn’t bitchy to me,” James said, and brushed past Sirius to bring the dishes into the kitchen.
Sirius followed on his feels, through the din of noises, and dodging their staff. “So it’s true, she’s back?”
James gave a noncommittal grunt as he dumped the dishes. But upon seeing Sirius’ raised brow, he nodded. “For the weekend. Here for the Fenwick funeral.”
Sirius whistled and crossed his arms. “Brave. You couldn’t pay me to go to a Black family funeral.”
“The Fenwicks aren’t batshit like the Blacks, she’ll probably be fine.”
“Not batshit, definitely no cousin marriages at least,” Sirius said, following James back out the kitchen. “But just as prideful. That makes people feel powerful, makes everyone else believe their power.”
James turned, stopping so suddenly that Sirius almost walked into him. “Do we need to worry about that? About someone spreading that kind of rumor?” He glanced around the restaurant, quickly studying staff as he went, wondering who…
Bitchy red head— James scowled. Lily was anything but; he loved her wry humor, her willingness to joke, and how she always stood her ground. The Benjy thing was only that. He didn’t know everything, only what she told him, but he trusted it was right for her.
Sirius frowned, maybe sensing some of James’ thoughts, and leaned against the bar, folding his arms under him. “Nah, it’ll blow over, it always does.” He tossed a cheeky grin at James. “They seemed worried for you, actually. Maybe jealous.”
That broke James out his thoughts and he glanced at Sirius, unsure he’d heard correctly. “Jealous? Of what?”
Before Sirius could elaborate, a waitress came over to bring an order; she glanced between them, a cheerful smile in place, obviously curious about their conversation. Unfortunately for her, she had no reason to stay so she went to her next table, albeit slowly.
As James began assembling the drink order, Sirius took a seat at the bar. They both glanced around to make sure they weren’t heard. “You. Her. You and her. Something going on?”
James’ eyes flickered, moving from his shaker to Sirius, and back. He felt warm, remembering Lily’s coy looks and the challenge in her words. How her eyes lingered over him, how he let her. “No.”
Sirius snorted, then let out a barking laugh that drew several people’s attention. James put down the bottle of gin, and gave Sirius a light shove.
“People are being really shitty to her,” he said, “she just needs a friend.”
Sirius had stopped laughing but still smiled indulgently, knowing that what James said was bullshit. True, yes, but not so selfless. “Right, a friend who doesn’t hate her.”
“Right.” James poured the gin. Added a lime. “And I don’t hate her.”
“Mhmm,” Sirius agreed. “You never have.”
“Right.” James nodded at Sirius, confirming this statement, and put out the drink for the waitress to pick up. As he did, the front door opened with a burst of frigid air and flowing red locks.
Lily frantically smoothed out her hair, a laptop bag slung over her shoulder. She wore a coat now, but her cheeks were still flushed from the cold. She was staring at James, a happy anticipation making her bounce on her heels before she made her way over.
Sirius brightened upon seeing Lily, and turned back to James, noting how he stood frozen as watched her, how he took several deep breaths to ground himself. Smirking, Sirius said, “Right.”

Hello <33 could you write Remus Lupin x Black reader?
Here is the idea... reader is sirius' younger sister she is in love with remus, but she thinks remus would never feel the same way because she is younger and sirius's litte sister. Then sirius figure it out about reader's crush on remus and he helps her to get remus attention.
Hope this is ok 💓 thanks dearest 💓
Hiii lovely, thank you so much for this request. I'm soooo sorry that it took me so long. Hope u enjoy. Warnings: use of y/n, kiss, swear words (1.3k)
Being Sirius's younger sister is already hard as it is. Everybody always recognises you as that, you've had girls befriending you just to get close to him and so on. But one thing that is even worse about it, is that you are absolutely invisible to his best friends. Specifically only one, Remus.
You've been hopelessly in love with him, but you know, there's just no way he likes you back. You are sure about it, because everytime you enter the room, he dissappears or stops talking. He barely exchanges a few sentences with you.
To Remus's defence, he can't help it. He needs to leave to room, because he knows if he stays, he'll be in a bigger trouble than he already is. He has a big crush on you and he doesn't want Sirius or James or you to know, so being in your proximity is definitely not the answer.
And when he is close to you, he doesn't want to say anything stupid to you, so he just talks less. It's honestly driving him crazy.
It's driving you crazy, too. So that's exactly why, you are now complaining about it to your best friend in the Gryffindor's common room.
"Why are boys so complicated?" you whine into her shoulder.
"Wish I knew, but sweetie, I think that you may be wrong about him," she rubs your shoulder, trying to cheer you up.
"What do you mean?" you frown at her.
"Okay, so don't kill me, but I'm like 95 percent sure, Remus likes you," she tells you and your eyes widen at her statement.
"What?"
"I wasn't sure at first, but I am now. I've caught him multiple times, staring lovesick at you," your mouth opens to argue, but she gets ahead of you, "It's true, I mean it. I can tell the difference between his regular staring and his 'I'm in love with y/n' staring. He definitely like you back. "
"Then why does he always ignore me or dissappears when I am near, huh?" you scoff, you can't believe, Remus likes you, there's like zero possibility that's true.
"I don't know, maybe...-maybe he's just shy..." She tries to figure it out, but she can't really explain it, too. You don't talk much after that and head to your room to sleep.
Big mistake you two did, was that you didn't check if anybody was near the common room, because it was already very late. But to your 'luck' Sirius heard the whole conversation.
Sirius starts to pay more attention to Remus whenever you are near and to his surprise, your friend was right. Remus definitely fucking likes you, it's so painfully obvious that he doesn't get how he hasn't noticed it before. Like the loving eyes or the bashful smiles, it actually makes Sirius sick as he thinks of it.
He also pays attention to you, he already knows you like Remus from the eavesdropping, but it's different seeing the truth for himself. You are obvious with your crush too, but Sirius sees how sad you are, that your feelings aren't reciprocated.
Which is why, he decides (despite you being his younger sister and Remus being his best friend) to get you two fuckers together.
His plan is simple. He'll lock you to in a room and won't let you out until you'll confess your feelings.
So that's what he does, he even let's James on the plan. James is supposed to lure Remus in, while Sirius has to lure you in. It's pretty easy to get you there, all it takes is one innocent lie about needing help with something and you two idiots are there.
You are inside first and in a matter of seconds Remus is by your side aswell.
"What-" you don't get to finish the sentence because the door gets shut and it's just you and him there. You can hear both boys chuckle as you start pounding on the door.
"Sirius, if you don't open the door, I'll beat you up-" you angrily shout.
"Guys, just open the door, this isn't funny," Remus says, still keeping a cool mind. Suddenly, their chuckles stop, you expect them to open the door, but nothing happens. They are definitely gone.
You try the 'alohomora' spell, but of course it doesn't work, you should have expected that.
You suddenly turn around towards Remus, " what's this all about, huh?"
"What?" he asks baffled, " i-...trust me, I don't know anything about this."
"How can't you know? You three are literally like one, there's no way you don't know anything. You have to know what's this prank about," you accuse him.
"I swear, I don't know anything," he puts his palms up, showing you he really doesn't know.
"Oh c'mon...," you say frustrated, " you must have heard at least something."
He tries to think of something, but he doesn't remember anything worth mentioning, " They didn't really mention you, I only remember that Sirius was talking to James about how he was eavesdropping on a conversation with you and your best friend some nights ago."
Your face goes white and Remus immediately notices the change in your expression.
"What's wrong?" he questions, " does it have to do something with this?"
You clear your throat," umm...- no, it-it was just silly girl talk that's all." You lie and clearly, it's so bad, that nobody on this earth would believe your lie even if they tried hard.
"Oh come on, you can tell me, maybe we can get out of here then-"
"No, really. It was just some stupid conversation, nothing worth mentioning...." you say, eyes fixated on the ground.
"It can't be stupid, if we are here because of it, right?"
"It's just-..." you can't say it, you just can't. It's already embarrassing enough that you are in love with your brother's best friend, but admitting it to him is way, way worse.
"What is it, y/n? You know you can tell me anything," he softly smiles at you.
"I-I-I...." you stutter, you want to say some excuse, but nothing comes to your mind. And it takes you one look at his stupidly tender smile to tell him the truth.
"Ilikeyou,"you blurt out, but it's so quiet that he doesn't catch it.
"What was that?" He asks, eyebrows raised.
"I said,..-" you take a deep breath," that-that I like you."
"What?" he sputters, "y-you like me?" Remus doesn't catch on.
"Yes, like more than a friend," you almost wince as you confess it. You watch, how his expressions change every few seconds with emotions. It honestly terrifies you. You'd rather have him laugh in your face, than to watch this slow reaction.
Suddenly, his face breaks out into the biggest grin you've ever seen on him, " you like me?" he breaths out in disbelief.
You nod, giving him a hesitant smile. And in matter of seconds, he is kissing you. Remus's kiss is, oh so soft, that it has you melting. But before you can even respond, he is pulling away. "I'm sorry. I shouldn-" He doesn't finish, because your lips are on his, shutting him up.
It's a sweet kiss, that's got you smiling giddily at each other, when you pull apart.
"Does this mean you like me, too?"
"Obviously, " he says in a 'duh' tone, but then adds softly," I've been head over heels for you since like forever."
"Why haven't you said something before?"
"Well, I didn't exactly want your brother to beat my ass," you both chuckle at that.
"What makes you think I won't now?" His voice startles you both and as you turn around to look at him, you see him with a smile, not a drop of anger in his eyes ."I'm happy for you, but no lovey shit in front of me, got it?"
"Yes, Siri " you agree and with a smirk, you lean in to kiss Remus again, who happily oblidges and kisses you back. You only hear a fake gagging sound then and Sirius's quick steps to get away from you two with "what have i done" muttered under his breath.

Teenage Daughters (one shot)
Regulus Black AU
Request: Can you write a one-shot about Regulus dealing with teenage daughters who are fighting all the time? Like they are fighting over stuff in their room and Regulus finally enough and makes them move to different rooms.
Pairings: Regulus Black x Reader
Rating: Teen
____
“GIVE IT BACK!”
“I HATE YOU!”
Regulus sat on the couch trying to ignore the sounds of his teenage daughters yelling at the top of their lungs at each other. Sighing, Regulus tried to focus on the newspaper in front of him as the yelling continued. He tried to think about what got him into the predicament.
Y/n just had to go on a weekend trip. It's no wonder the poor woman is ready to scream.
I’m in this mess because I can’t keep my hands to myself.
Regulus sighed at the latter of the two thoughts. That was definitely true. Why on earth the two of you thought that having two daughters so close together was a good idea was beyond him?
It's no wonder mum and dad were crazy. They did the same thing. Sirius and I probably pushed them over the edge.
Looking up from the newspaper, he focused his attention on his eight-year-old son who was looking at him with an expression that said: “help me.” Oliver had come out of his room half an hour ago after shrieking at his sisters that he was trying to read. All that came from that was Astrid or Helena tossing a book at him. Oliver took off down the stairs to his father for safety.
“Don’t worry, they’ll be quiet soon enough.”
Regulus said, half wishing that he believed himself. Oliver groaned.
“Daddy, why are girls so difficult?”
Regulus couldn’t help the little smirk that formed on his face. He was almost positive that he had asked Orion that once as a child when Bellatrix and Andromeda was fighting over something at a family function.
“Not all girls are difficult, son. Helena and Astrid will calm down soon enough…when the hormones stop and they…you know what, I don’t know.”
Oliver put his head down on the table before looking up.
“Mummy isn’t difficult.”
Regulus nearly choked from laughter at that one. Sure you weren’t difficult….most of the time. That didn’t mean that there weren’t times, mostly when you were pregnant, when you left Regulus baffled and looking for a place to hide.
“Yeah, well she’s mummy.”
Regulus went back to reading his newspaper and Oliver turned to look out the window. He frowned when a few articles of clothing came falling down through an upstairs window. Oliver quickly turned back to Regulus.
“Daddy, look at that.”
Regulus turned to look out the window as some more clothes fell. Regulus sighed and put his newspaper down.
“Well…that isn’t something that happens every day.”
He stood up and walked upstairs where the shrieking was continuing. Walking into his daughter’s shared room, Helena had Astrid halfway out the window yelling at her to get something back.
“Okay, that’s enough.”
Regulus snapped before walking over and pulling both Helena and Astrid from the window and sitting both down in opposite places.
“Alright, what is going on?”
Both Astrid and Helena start screaming about how the other one is a pain to live with and all they do is piss the other off. Regulus’ eyes widened and he wondered why the hell he just asked that question.
“You two need to stop! You’re both driving me crazy! I mean it. Both of you are always fighting and I'm sick of it. It's time the both of you need to learn to live apart. Astrid, get your stuff, you're going to the guest room. What do you think about that?”
Both Astrid and Helena instantly smiled. Neither seemed to notice how bewildered their father looked.
“You're the best dad! I’ll get my stuff!”
Astrid said cheerfully and went to gather up the things that would be put into her new room. Regulus blinked a few times wondering if settling that fight was really that easy. Scratching his head, Regulus turned and walked toward the door. He knew that you would probably have something to say about how he handled this but for the moment this was good enough. Regulus turned around and looked at his daughters who were now happy as can be.
I remember when I was so excited for them to start talking…what the hell happened?”
“Well, hurry it up!”
Regulus snapped before stomping back down the stairs muttering to himself about it being the time to “get the snip” after all. Sitting down he went back to the newspaper and the sentence that he read at least seven times.
“I am never having more children…fuck that!”

The Werewolf, the Snake, the Stag, the Dog, and the Doe
“Wormtail, our birthdays were last month.”
“Yeah, but we didn’t do anything to celebrate,” Peter said, an excited look on his face as he looked at James, as though asking and hoping for approval.
James glanced at Remus.
“Why not, Prongs?” Remus asked, his face slightly smiling, “if Peter wants to plan something for us?”
James sighed, “alright, Wormy,” he said, a smile issuing from his face at the excitement entering Peter’s own face. “You can plan something for us.”
Peter had gone crazy the next few days, apparently planning something to do with the Shrieking Shack and the full moon. Remus had said something about whether a birthday event around the time he had to become a werewolf was a great idea for him, but Peter had just looked confused and Remus hadn’t mentioned it again. It soon became clear that Peter was planning it for a night when they would all be changing.
“We’ll have to go through the Shrieking Shack before Remus turns, of course,” Wormtail said, as they had always done since Lily had almost been caught by Remus after the change. “But I think we can then go into Hogsmeade.”
“We’ve gone into Hogsmeade a million times, Wormy,” Sirius said, his feet propped up on one of the tables in the library, only getting away with it because Madam Pince was checking out a line of fifth year students with books to prepare for their O.W.L.s.
“But, don’t you like it?” Peter asked, looking confused again.
Sirius sighed, “yeah,” he said, putting his feet down at the same time Madam Pince looked over.
Sure they liked Hogsmeade, but why Peter thought it warranted being called a special later birthday event for he and Remus, James didn’t know, and he understood Sirius’ wry humor at Peter as well.
Wormy had been going on for about five minutes straight about his plans for the evening of the full moon, plans for things that they had already done at least ten times over when Sirius caught a flicker of movement out of the corner of his eyes and snapped his eyes to the source of the movement.
He caught a flash of a black cloak and graesy black hair through the gaps in the bookshelves just behind where they were talking.
The night of the full moon came.
And Remus was the first one to leave, Madam Pomphrey no longer escorted him through the secret tunnel to the shrieking shack, so Remus went alone to start with, since Peter was too afraid to go alone with him and James had to finish an assignment that was due the next day before he went out with them.
Sirius, on the other hand, got Peter to follow him down to the Whomping Willow, taking a very conspicuous way out of the castle.
His suspicions were confirmed when he caught sight of a dark figure, following behind them at a distance.
“Ruddy well should keep his nose out of other people’s business,” Sirius growled underneath his breath, but Peter didn’t seem to hear behind him.
“What?” he said.
“Nothing,” Sirius said, forced calmness in his voice. “Listen, Wormy,” Sirius said, drawing up short, “I’ve just remembered I’ve forgotten something up at the castle. You go ahead and go down. Make sure to freeze the Whomping Willow for me and James.”
“It won’t stay frozen for long,” Peter said, his voice quizzical.
“I’ll only be a minute,” Sirius said, “I might even catch you somewhere in the tunnel. Maybe use the spell instead of turning. I wouldn’t change into your animagus form until you’ve already entered the tunnel.”
Sirius put a comforting hand on Peter’s arm, easing his shutters and reminded him that Remus wouldn’t hurt another animal and that he could just stay as a rat, that he’d be safe as a rat. And when they turned a blind corner around the castle, Sirius allowed Peter to go on ahead of him.
He turned into a dog and hid in a copse of bushes before the dark figure that had been following them rounded the corner the next moment later.
Snivellus’ expression was surprised when he caught sight of only Peter now ahead of him, but with Sirius nowhere in sight, he continued to follow the other young man.
Once Snivellus was a good way ahead, Sirius stalked behind, the third one in a distant row.
He watched from the hill as Peter took his advice, using a spell instead of turning into a rat to freeze the tree, watched as he descended into the tunnel and as Snivellus repeated the action after Wormy had gone, following in after him.
The Whomping Willow had regained movement again when Sirius sensed movement to his left, his hackles rising.
But it was just James who dropped a hand on his head, looking quizzically at him.
Sirius shapeshifted back into a young man.
“What you waiting out here for, Padfoot?”
Sirius folded his arms.
He looked down at the Whomping Willow, his expression slightly eager, proud. “I’m waiting to hear Snivellus’s pitiful scream.”
“Snivellus.” James said, his voice growing confused, and very worried. “Why would Snivellus be out here?”
“Because I led him here, and he just followed Wormtail into the tunnel.”
He looked at James.
James was looking right back at him, his mouth opened in horror.
“Sirius.”
Sirius turned his attention back towards the Whomping Willow.
“Maybe a little bit of fright will stop him from stalking us around anymore, maybe fear of a werewolf will keep him from cursing you when you’re not looking.”
“Sirius.” James repeated, “Sirius, he could get hurt.” James stopped, his tone going softer, “He could be bitten.”
Sirius gazed down at the willow, a small inkling of disagreement entering his system.
“Would serve him right,” he finally said, forcing his voice into a tone of believing it, “might not go over to You-Know-Who’s side if he realizes they’ll treat him like a half-breed.”
But James stalked down the windy slope and Sirius didn’t stop him.
Light flashed and James managed to grab Snape by the arm, pulling him back into the shadows, both of them falling to the ground, a scrape across James’ arm as Remus transformed at the end of the tunnel.
Wormy was nowhere in sight, and James suspected he had already transformed into a rat somewhere and didn’t worry about him as he dragged Snape back, the other young man giving way.
James didn’t get a good look at his face until they crawled into the light of the Whomping Willow above them.
James hit the knot of the tree, freezing it in place.
He looked back at Snape.
Severus looked…he stared, his face even more ghostly white than normal, a large cut across his cheek, presumably what he had gotten when James had pulled him back and they had both fallen.
In an instant, he looked at James in horror and terror, got up, and ran for the castle.
James sighed, letting him go, regaining his breath on the ground from the sprint he had done to get to him.
“I’m sorry, Prongs,” Sirius said, falling onto the grass beside him. “Not for Snivellus,” he said, looking off towards the castle where Snape had disappeared too. “but I am sorry for Remus. I wouldn’t want him to live with that…I was just…so angry,” and indeed a fire blazed behind Sirius’ eyes. “Men who are looking to go join him.” A terrible seriousness entered Sirius’s face, something that James did not know if had seen at all, let alone often. “They don’t deserve to live long enough to get there.”
A silence strained between them, the gap in their language opening wide, because James could not disagree with him.
Lily ran from Wormy, her feet flying beneath her, losing her slippers somewhere between the third and second floors, running on her bare feet across the cold stone instead.
She wheeled into the hospital wing.
Madam Pomphrey was nowhere in sight, but Snape was there, sitting on one of the beds, a bandage across his face.
His expression actually softened when he saw her.
“Lily.”
She rushed over to his bed, shushing him before he alerted Madam Pomphrey to her presence.
“I’m alright,” he said, as she sat on the chair beside his bed, sitting up. “I’m not too hurt. Madam Pomphrey just thought it would be better to use a potion than her wand since It’s not bleeding too badly.”
Lily glanced towards the office.
“Listen,” she said, turning back to Snape.
“You won’t believe it,” he said, a glint in his eye, “Remus Lupin is a werewolf and those friends of his, Sirius and James, there covering it up.”
“You can’t tell anyone.” Her voice came out more pleading than she intended it too, but it was honest and she let it go as she grabbed the hand closest to her in both of hers. “Please,” she begged, feeling a pain in her toes and then a wetness in her eyes, but she looked yearningly at Snape. “You can’t tell anyone that Remus is a werewolf.”
Snape stared, his face falling, his features going from an evil excitement to dark, darker even than that.
Dread entered the room. Snape pulled his hand away.
“You know.” Contempt entered his expression and a quiet anger, a bone-chilling coldness swept off of him. It wasn’t a question. It was an accusation. “You knew and you’ve been covering it up with them,” his voice was low and quiet, much more terrifying, much more chilling than if he had been shouting. Lily almost wished he had been shouting for there was no compassion, nothing to reach in his eyes anymore.
“Please Severus.” Lily whispered half-heartedly.
“Please what?” He growled, his voice still dangerously low, “forgive you or don’t tell anyone about your friend,” he sneered then.
“Don’t tell,” she barely breathed out.
Snape’s features twisted. “Well, you don’t have to worry about it either way. I’ll end your wondering.” He said, continuing his thought, “I don’t plan on doing either.”
“You won’t.”
Professor Dumbledore spoke in the quiet of the evening and Lily felt the tension that gripped her ease slightly.
She got to her feet, stepping away from the bed and seeing James and Sirius behind Dumbledore.
Sirius, for what it was worth, looked slightly mournful.
“Mr. Lupin is a Hogwarts student, and is therefore under our care.” Dumbledore locking eyes with Snape from over his half-moon spectacles.
“Professor—” Severus began.
But Dumbledore stopped him with a hand.
“I know of Remus Lupin’s condition, as I know of the events of tonight. Mr. Potter and Mr. Black were good enough to inform me,” he said, looking over his half-moon spectacles at them, his eyes holding on Sirius for a spell.
Sirius didn’t break contact, but his eyes did soften slightly.
Dumbledore turned back to Snape.
“Mr. Lupin is under our protection and his circumstances are not to be known by anyone, but those in this room,” he glanced to the side where Madam Pomphrey had come out of her office.
Snape looked at Dumbledore, betrayed and horrified.
“You should consider that a rule,” Dumbledore said, his voice grave as he looked over Snape. “You will remember what I have asked of you tonight.”
At first, Lily thought Severus’s expression was turning mutinous, but it seemed to level out, turning into almost a blank expression entirely.
Dumbledore turned back to James and Sirius.
“I don’t suggest you return to the hospital wing till dawn. Mr. Snape,” Dumbledore said, nodding respectively to Severus in his bed, “will be gone by then and Remus likely won’t arrive till a little after once he has regained awareness. I am asking that you get some sleep before then. You would be better to help console your friend and what he might have almost done if you are well rested.”
It was then that Dumbledore moved his attention to herself.
“The same goes for you, Miss Evans,” Dumbledore said, bowing his head to her, “I will not begrudge you visiting your friend once he arrives, but until dawn, I must insist that you all return to your dormitories. We will leave Poppy to her work,” Dumbledore said, bowing slightly to the healer.
Lily couldn’t find any words to say to Sirius and James as they all walked melancholy to their dormitory. Neither of them spoke either, even when they entered the common room, they passively and silently agreed not to retreat to their dormitories, but instead all collapsed on chairs and a sofa in one corner of the room. Peter was nowhere to be seen, and Lily forgot to think about him.
The first words that anyone spoke were Sirius’, asking them if they really thought he, meaning Severus–though he didn’t even use the derogatory version of his name–would really keep quiet since Dumbledore had asked him.
Lily just shook her head uncertainly and James bowed his. Lily didn’t have the energy to be mad at him and it seemed like James didn’t have the heart. Sirius didn’t seem ashamed exactly, but as though he had shrunken in on himself, as though he had become, despite his normal black exterior, truly now colorless.
She must have snoozed in and out because she woke when Sirius got to his feet.
James was next, offering a solemn hand out to Lily, the dawn light glowing from the window behind him.
They traveled down to the hospital wing, the mournful air still there despite the soft golden and pink light coming through the windows.
But Lily felt the brightening when they entered the hospital wing, and each of them saw Remus.
He was covered in scrapes and marks, the marks of a werewolf who had found nothing to do and no one to claw in the night except for himself. His eyes were bagging, but he was smiling at them as they walked towards him.
James watched as Lily embraced Remus, watched as Remus winced as he embraced her back, his gentle smile greeting his features. He smiled as he too embraced his friend, and then he stepped back, a solemn quiet entering the room as Sirius stepped forward.
Sirius wouldn’t say it, James and Remus both knew he wouldn’t, but as a quiet tear fell down one of Sirius’ eyes, perhaps the only one James thought he had ever seen from his best friend, Remus opened his arms, and Sirius collapsed into them onto the bed.
Remus’s forgiveness wasn’t acceptance. But James and Remus both understood Sirius better than anyone alive, knew what he did and why he did those things.
And they loved him regardless.
James and Sirius had both fallen asleep, halfway on his bed, and Remus watched them, a quiet gratitude in his system that they were all there.
He looked at Lily.
Lily who was looking over, not at him, but at the untidy black haired boy, half falling off his chair onto Remus’ bed.
Lily caught his eyes and they both froze, looking over at James together and then back at each other.
They didn’t say anything.
She didn’t need to.
Remus already knew.
