One of my many time travel headcanons slots into the irondad—spiderson corner of the Marvel fanverse. I love Spider-Man and his stories, but I also suffer from visceral second-hand embarrassment and second-hand pain of seeing someone neglected or abandoned or alone, so most of my voluntary interactions with the Spider-Man/Marvel fan sphere come from the warm and fuzzy and emotionally rewarding sections with Tony and Peter becoming family. I know there are some arguments about how realistic that may or may not be to the movies, but I don’t really care. I love that those fan fictions and fan arts exist and I embrace them because they’re my favorite way of intaking that particular corner of media. So if you’re on that same page with me, enjoy my little private time travel headcanon:
In a Universe where Tony survives, Beck would have to curb his plans. They wouldn’t have formed the same way. For one thing, the drones and the glasses wouldn’t have been accessible through Peter / Tony’s will. For another, Peter would have been immediately more obviously tied to Tony, because Tony wouldn’t want to let him out of his sight after saving the world for Peter. In this version Tony and Pepper essentially adopt Peter and share informal joint custody with May. Peter gets to be Morgan’s older brother and he eventually sees Tony as his dad. They take their time to adjust: Peter has time to settle after the snap and find a new equilibrium, and the group of them develops a normal family routine. There’s definitely an optional version of this where Harley’s there as well because I have a soft spot for that, but this is mostly about Peter and Morgan (sorry Harley. You’re awesome, I just didn’t imagine you in the bulk of this story).
Beck’s team takes longer to get their shit together—partially as a plot device to allow Peter to adjust enough to call Tony “dad” and partially because Tony isn’t dead in this version, so their plans have to be different.
When the public figures out that Tony has a ‘son’—one that’s just as smart as he is—Beck and his crew decide not to go directly after the drones. They go for the kids instead. They figure ‘hey, if the rumors are true and the brat is just as smart as Tony, he can build whatever we want him to. If not, we can use the kids as leverage to get what we want.’ They go after Peter and Morgan and steal some of Tony’s super-secret-recently-invented time travel technology and hop around the space time continuum for a little bit. They don’t realize that Peter is Spider-Man because they’re convinced he’s Tony’s son and have fixated on that rather than on the fact that Peter might be a superhero (since Tony so obviously considers him a son they didn’t do as much digging into ‘why on earth would Tony Stark take interest in this random kid?’). But Peter doesn’t know whether he should play his hand as Spider-Man. They keep him separated from Morgan most of the time and he has to keep her safe because they’re threatening him with her. Peter doesn’t want to take the risk that he’ll escape and they’ll portal away with Morgan somewhere/when where he can’t find them.
Beck and his crew haven’t tried to reach out to Tony yet. They’re pretty confident that they can use Morgan to get whatever they want out of Peter instead. And besides that, Beck really just wants to make Tony suffer, so he figures taking his kids somewhere unreachable is the best way to do that. But he also wants to be able to watch Some version of Tony, just to remind himself of whom he’s torturing. So after hop-skip-jumping their way through the time stream, Beck takes them back in time to just after the Avengers saved the world from Loki—or some other convenient time within the span of movies. There’s some flexibility there. (The watches work for all of these trips. It’s possible that Peter and Tony revisited the tech to eliminate Pym Particles as an energy source. Maybe Beck’s team of engineers found another power source. Or maybe they just have a huge stash of particles. I don’t know. I didn’t really think about that part of the story. This is really mostly just background.)
Peter wants to lessen the risk of being more permanently separated from Morgan, he wants to make it easier for Tony to find them, AND he likes that they’re in a time period where he can reach some version of the Avengers. So he sneaks out while they’re trying to make him build something and he sabotages all of the time bracelets so they can’t be used again.
The real meat of the story comes with the back-in-time Avengers. Tony gets an odd transmission that he can’t open (because Peter sent it to JARVIS in the hopes that His version of Tony would find it and see it in the future and would know when and how to come back and get them). Then the Avengers run into the future version of Tony who shows up in the past. Younger Tony gets super suspicious, and he and the other Avengers assume that this is some super villain using a copy of the Ironman suit.
Beck’s crew may also have done something to get them on Team Cap’s radar, and Cap may be investigating some of their movements as potential remnants of Hydra or something else equally suspicious. Especially since Beck’s crew may have been too bold entering into this part of the timeline when they assumed they’d have access to an escape (before Peter broke the bracelets).
Finally the Avengers have a run-in where they see Tony’s face. Maybe they even catch him and drag him back to Avengers Tower (which of course he would know how to control / escape). He won’t tell them what’s going on because he takes one look at his younger self and sees a traumatized man with narcissistic tendencies who is Not ready to be a father. So he just tells them that Beck “stole something from me” and to “not get involved.” He plays up some of his familiar bravado and ego so they won’t dig too far into what exactly Beck might have stolen.
Meanwhile Beck is getting fed up with Peter, for obvious reasons. They’re trying to get him to fix the bracelets on Top of everything else they wanted him to do, but he keeps stalling for time. Beck keeps almost catching him recording covert videos, and before Peter has the chance to upload and send any more of them, the crew packs up and ditches the base where they were originally holding the kids. Peter and Morgan are now stuck in the past together, but Peter’s finding fewer and fewer opportunities to escape with her without revealing himself, and now that they’re in the past he’s afraid that Beck might discover his identity and go after Peter’s younger self as well before he even has the spider bite. Besides that, none of Beck’s team realizes how much food Peter needs to eat to stay functional. And when he’s difficult they do things like withhold food (which is a problem for his metabolism), withhold heat (when he can’t thermoregulate, so it’s basically like drugging him because it makes his body think it has to hibernate), actually drug him, etc. He’s hedging between causing problems to make life difficult for Beck, playing at good behavior in order to get more time with Morgan, actually practicing semi-good behavior to buy some time for Tony to come get them, and trying to formulate a better escape plan. And when Beck relocates them to an old Hydra base, Peter decides not to take any risks about showing off his spider powers.
The Avengers team breaks into Beck’s old base after the relocation. Cap is convinced that Tony made some stupid world-ending tech that’s going to get them all killed and that That is what Beck stole. That, or it’s just the time travel tech. To be fair, Tony is also pretty convinced that it’s some sort of tech, and he’s fairly invested in finding out what future-y stuff his older self is being so cagey about. They find evidence of a lab with mechanical parts (tools and pieces that they gave Peter to try and get him to build things, etc.). But Nat comes across a room with a blanket in the corner and a couple crayon drawings and does the whole “Guys, maybe we’re on the wrong trail here” bit about how maybe they don’t really know what’s been stollen. Tony gets what he can out of the computer and takes it back to the tower to decode.
A week later he’s de-encrypted the files enough to access some of the videos that Peter made and saved behind some walls of coding.
There are little snippets that show Peter stalling for time, ones that show some of the repercussions of his sabotaging the watches, etc. There are videos that show how much Beck’s team is treating him as a stupid normal kid and trying to manipulate him in a variety of ways—sometimes with Morgan, sometimes with violence or bribery.
A video where Peter wonders if he should be building something to appease them because they’re not feeding him and he needs to see Morgan, and how he wants to hold out, but Dad he’s not sure he’s going to be able to if it means Morgan might get hurt. How he promises to take care of her.
There are videos of Peter being a little shit and pulling tricks behind Beck’s back to mess with the tech.
A video of Peter looking a little better and Morgan sitting there assisting him and handing him the right tools before he can finish asking for them. They sing a little Italian at each other (in this version May taught Peter some Italian and Tony taught Morgan and Peter some as well). Morgan tells Peter “that’s not the way Daddy builds it.” And Peter has to tell her that they don’t have dad’s stuff at their disposal. (They’re sneakily building an E.M.P. instead of whatever Beck wants. That’s why Peter had to stash the thumb drive so it wasn’t hooked up to the computer system. Unfortunately Beck gets wind of it and figures out what they’re doing before they can use it. He’s noticed the Avengers sniffing around which is why they ditch their original base.) There’s definitely a moment in a video somewhere where they’re talking about Pepper (calling her ‘mom’) and how she would be able to stop Beck maybe even more easily than Tony—Peter says it as a Half-joke to make Morgan feel hopeful—and Peter says “can you do your mom impression?” And Morgan’s face transforms into this little deadpan look and she goes “No, Tony.” And they both laugh and joke about how Pepper would just tell Beck “No” and take them home. And then we see Beck storm in and discover the E.M.P. and throw it into the corner where it smashes (which is how the Avengers find it when they investigate), and we watch Morgan get dragged off screaming and Peter screaming back for her and trying to talk down Beck while Beck is pulling the whole ‘I thought letting you work with your sister would make you behave, but obviously I can’t trust the two of you together’ bit. He says shit like ‘you’re a worse brat than your dad’ and insults their whole family and says some nasty things about Tony and then about Peter and Morgan all while he’s ordering his people to shut the place down and clear out. Beck figures out that Peter’s been recording all of this after his team drags the kids out and he leaves a nasty message for Tony about how he’s going to pay, blah blah blah, how he’s never going to get his kids back. Something dramatic.
Obviously there’s some backlash in the team to Tony finding out that he’s a dad or that he’s going to be. They try to do some calculating to figure out when he’s going to have Peter (since they assume he’s a bio kid), but some of that is messed up by the fact that they don’t know about the snap or the five years that Peter lost. It’s generally chaos. They’re also a little more rushed to figure this out now that they know that there are kids involved. (They also don’t realize that Peter has powers, but it shouldn’t really matter because he’s a kid anyway.)
(At some point there would also be a conversation later when they meet up with Older Tony where someone suggests that Younger Tony just deal with Beck in the present time to avoid all of this so that Older Tony can explain how time travel doesn’t work like that and that This future version of Beck is already set the way he is, likely on a deviant path from their own Beck.)
Beck super mad that the time watches are broken and that the Avengers are on their tail. He rigs up the Hydra base and uses some of his hologram tech to manipulate the kids into thinking they’re being rescued when they’re not (either just to be an asshole or to try and get Peter to fix the watches through manipulation), or to show Peter a hologram of Morgan when she’s not in the room and vice versa to mess with them. At one point he possibly makes Peter think he’s shooting Morgan or something as a form of punishment for Peter not cooperating. There’s a large variety of evil that Beck is frankly willing to dip into to psychologically mess with these kids (and Tony by extension).
Older Tony and the Avengers end up working together to go save Peter and Morgan, which could honestly go a variety of ways. But I like the idea that Peter and Morgan are integral to the escape somehow, by building something or by Morgan remembering something important or by Peter using his smarts or his powers just a little. Younger-Tony gets handed Morgan (by another hero, against his will) at one point while Older Tony is in another room on the other side of the base trying to negotiate with Beck who’s threatening to kill Peter (something like that), and Morgan calls him Mr. Stark or Tony instead of Dad or Daddy because “You’re not my Dad yet” and makes a comment about how there isn’t enough gray in his hair. And he’s not really sure how to respond to her so they’re kind of strangers to each other.
Morgan possibly mentions something about ‘why didn’t you bring Uncle Bucky?’ and Steve just about has a heart attack, and Peter has to defuse it like ‘I don’t think they know about Uncle Bucky yet.’
Beck and his crew are taken into custody. Peter and Morgan get some time in the med bay for recovery. We get to see them interact with JARVIS (which is a little odd because they usually just have FRIDAY). The Avengers get to see Tony being a dad—even if he’s a little cagey about it around the super hero team. There are allusions to him being married to Pepper (without them directly saying it). Peter and Tony fix the time watches (without letting JARVIS see the schematics, because we can’t have an earth-conquering robot knowing how to traverse space-time), and they go home. (Either that or we involve Harley, who’s possibly been home with Pepper this whole time and did not get kidnapped because having all three kids would have driven Beck over the edge. And Harley took care of the technology from his end and ended up altering the tech to open a doorway instead of just using the watches. Not canon compliant, but I don’t know that I mind it as an option. Because, again, The Feels are more important to me for this particular story.) There’s definitely a little moment somewhere in their stay at the tower in the past with the Avengers where Peter wants to drink coffee or something and Tony tells him ‘thanks, no, I’ll take that’ and then asks Morgan to do a Mom (Pepper) impression, so Morgan turns to Peter and goes “No,” and Peter responds with “traitor” or something. I don’t know I think it would be cute.
And then there’s just the aftermath. Peter has Aunt May and MJ and Ned waiting for him when he gets back home. There’s family time with Pepper (and maybe Harley???). All those good vibes. Back in time there’s an acknowledgement of the fact that Tony is a whole-ass person who will grow and develop. Cap wants to go look for Bucky. And the seed has been planted that something is going to go wrong with JARVIS. Tony wonders if Peter’s out there somewhere and was possibly a child of one of his one night stands. Things like that.

Now I should be ABUNDANTLY clear that just because Peter and MJ in the MCU had almost NOTHING to go on, I am NOT the person who is going to agree with you of proving why MJ isn’t his endgame
me: the MCU did Peter and MJ dirty, especially MJ, for waiting until the last movie to proclaim her as thee MJ watson
you: yeah that’s why [insert some rancid likely racist take of why she’s not MJ, another pairing is better, bad faith criticism]
me:
Tumblr media
MJ is MJ and she always is and will be but for the love of all that is Spider-Man we have got to stop pretending that saying “Peter and MJ don’t have development and that’s Bad” is some kind of degradation to them in their lore and what they Should Be

I've seen a couple of posts about it in the tag already, so if you're an irondad fan, i wouldn't get excited about freshman year as actual canon prequel material based on the evidence that's been announced and collected within this article.
Based on said released evidence, it's not at all an actual MCU canon prequel. It's an AU and is being specifically designed for comics fans based on the style choices (likely ones that didn't like the choices the MCU made with Peter's character, the non-introduction of certain other characters into the canon, etc.)
Unless they introduce The Avengers in a different way (because somehow it still exists as "before Civil War"?) it will be devoid of most of the main Avengers of the MCU in general as we know them, but possibly running parallel to the events of those other films without the Peter Parker from our universe.
Which is fine! If you're a comics fan that's great for you and I hope you enjoy it bc Marvel isn't just about irondad, there's plenty to love and enjoy without them, but I know a lot of irondad fans weren't expecting that based on the description, so this is me trying to make sure people don't watch it for that and feel shocked/disappointed.

Comics Agere Week 2024:
the discord:
what is agere?:
essentially: a coping mechanism wherein a person enters a state of mind in which they feel ‘younger’, allowing them to relax and separate themselves momentarily from their daily stressors.
urban dictionary: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=age%20regression
healthline: https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/age-regression#types
why would I want to write for this?
for the same reason you would write mental illness h/c or de-aging h/c or fluff! it’s an interesting tool to use in your story- and people will enjoy it. for dc fans, consider the hypotheticals of a batfam member regressing- how that would effect interpersonal dynamics. Or, perhaps some irondad or team red fluff for marvel fans.
what are the rules?
the only rules are that you tag it #comicsagereweek2024 or post it to the ao3 collection, and that you refrain from making sexual content for this event. this is not a judgemental space, but age regression itself is not sexual, and ‘sexual agere’ content only spreads the harmful idea that it is. it is not welcome for this event.
what kinds of content are accepted?
writing, art, edits, moodboards, stimboards, etc!! basically any fun sfw agere content surrounding comics characters that fit the prompt(s) !! :>
where’s the collection?
what are the prompts/dates?
Prompts for Comics Agere Week 2024:
January 22nd - 28th.
Monday, January 22nd:
Accidental Regression Reveal
Tuesday, January 23rd:
Mid-Fight Regression, and/or Sickfic
Wednesday, January 24th:
Merch as a Comfort Item
Thursday, January 25th:
That is NOT a Mouth Object, and/or Sleepy Time
Friday, January 26th:
Villains as Caregivers and/or Babies Don’t Fight Crime!
Saturday, January 27th:

Stevetony Weekly - October 16
Tumblr media
Welcome back! I spent a lot of time working through re-reads this week--and reading comics!!! I finally finished the Civil War run and I’m big sad--and there’s some delicious silvertwink content from the mini bang.
***Marks my recent favorites
~*~
***His Fate Will Be Unlearned by scifigrl47
Tony Stark spent his childhood making weapons, filling the hole his father left in the world when he succumbed to alcohol, grief, and his own demons. At the age of fifteen, he ran away from home, and made it as far as MIT before all of his responsibilities caught up to him. Now seventeen, he just wants to finish his degree and escape from everything connected to the Stark name.
Steve Rogers crashed into the icy North Atlantic in the 1940's, sacrificing himself to save the world. He never expected to wake up, and now that he has, he's not sure he's glad. The US Army has other plans for him, but for now, Steve is slowly learning to live life in the 21st century, and taking classes at Boston College. He's beginning to suspect that there is no escape.
Boston College is on the T's Green Line. MIT is on the Red. The two lines meet at the Park Street Station, and so will Steve and Tony.
I love this fic. It’s I think the third time I’ve read it, and I just--I love how sad and broken both of them are, and how they put each other together. It’s flawless.
The Act of Creation Will Be Your Salvation by scifigrl47
When Tony Stark was seventeen years old, he built his first AI. On that day, he ceased to be his father's creation, and became a creating force in his own right.
That one act likely saved his life, and not always in the most obvious ways.
If you’ve read my work at all, you know I have a soft spot for Irondad AND for Dum-E. This series--and I did read a good portion of the series this week--is so lovely. I adore the way that DJ is depicted, and the fierce love Tony has for him, that is still utterly in character.
Curiosity Changes Everything by scifigrl47
Everyone in their life has had a little case of hero worship. A tiny crush on a celebrity. A teenage infatuation.
Dummy Stark-Rogers is not any different.
And the Mars Rover Curiosity is a stunning piece of tech.
Bedtime Stories and Nightmares by scifigrl47
Tony Stark was comfortable with his life. And why shouldn't he be? He's brilliant, rich, powerful, a super hero. He's got a team he trusts, a job he enjoys, his work and his creations, and he's sleeping with Captain America. Tony's life is just fine, thank you very much. He knew that it would change, life always changes, but he wasn't in any way prepared for how it was about to change.
Tony never intended to be a parent, and even if he had, he could never have anticipated this particular change.
***Stories Told With Silence by scifigrl47
Parenting is harder than it looks. But, to be fair, so is being a human kid.
In which Tony becomes the rather overwhelmed parent to a bot who is no longer always a bot, and finds out that if DJ Stark is ever going to leave Stark Tower, then they've got to figure out a way to explain him to the US Government.
For the first time, Tony regrets that time he called members of congress "assclowns."
Rescue Missions and Mistaken Identities by scifigrl47 for PaxieAmor
In which DJ Stark meets another kid.
Too bad that kid is someone who shouldn't be a kid, and doesn't know that DJ isn't always, either.
What follows is an escape attempt, thus making it the worst possible playdate.
I will admit I’m not usually a huge fan of Phil Coulson. There are few notable exceptions, and scifigrl always manages to be one of those. Getting deep into his head this go around was lovely.
The Monster In the Closet by scifigrl47
In "Rescue Missions and Mistaken Identities," Phil asks if DJ can swim. And DJ says he can. So how does a child who hates baths learn to swim?
In a way that terrifies his parents.
In which DJ learns to swim, and meets the last of the Tower's residents. Both activities go bad before they get better.
Where His Heart Belongs by tinystark616
The first time they have sex, Steve doesn't touch the arc reactor. Tony can see that he wants to, but when his fingertips slide closer to it, Tony flinches a little and he stops immediately.
Steve doesn't try again that night, but the arc reactor lights up his face the entire time, its light reflected in his blue eyes.
And Tony falls even more in love with him.
This is so sweet it’s I almost forgot there was sex involved--it’s just Steve being so careful and loving with Tony and I am a huge sucker for that.
never been mine by Areiton
There's a story in this pretty boy, and he's not entirely sure he wants to hear it.
He doesn't want to know why no one else would tattoo him, doesn't want to know what Tony wants and how close it bumps against the few hardlines Steve has.
"I didn't want it," Tony says, and it's abrupt, jerks Steve out of his musing to stare at him.
I adore fics that subvert tropes. I also love tattoos and silvertwink dynamics. So I guess writing this fic makes a lot of sense.
Beautiful Marks by Kat_Greenleaf
When Steve underwent Project Rebirth, he grew. His body stretched. It lengthened and widened, and it shows. Although he is supposed to be the perfect specimen, unblemished and scar-less, he's covered in stretch marks.
Steve is very self-conscious about these marks, and his partner, Tony Stark, sometimes has to remind him that his stretch marks are beautiful.
Steve’s soft insecurity and Tony’s gentle reassurances and worship are everything to me.
****Tied Together With a Smile by iam93percentstardust
That you cry, but you don't tell anyone
That you might not be the golden one
And you're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone
~
“Captain Rogers, this is my sub, Maria,” Howard managed through a strangled voice. “And my son—”
“I’m Tony,” YouKnowWhoIAm said, boldly sticking his hand out for Steve to shake. He took it, automatically raising it to his lips to kiss, the way he’d been taught to greet unattached subs as a child. It had fallen out of fashion while Steve was in the ice, and he’d mostly trained himself out of the impulse, but he just couldn’t resist when he saw Tony.
This was so lovely--the way kink was handled, and the way Steve and Tony fit together, the soft bratty behavior and how much of a service top Steve was--everything about it. I loved everything about it.
****The Sweet Fruit of Patience by hollyandvice (hiasobi_writes)
"Hi Anthony," he whispers, cradling him close to his chest. "I'm your godfather, Steve."
The story of how a Steve that never went into the ice finds his way to the boy he's meant to be with.
Oh my god the way Steve devotes himself to Tony?? Is EVERYTHING??? Just--so fucking lovely.
My Ding Ding Dong by KandiSheek
Tony buys underwear with an attachable dildo in it, and Steve finally puts his foot down with the ridiculous sex toys Tony has been buying. He's not going to wear that.
(He ends up wearing it.)
****this love came back to me by meidui
It’s been five years.
Tony is softer than he remembers, in navy blue wool, silver in his hair and beard, laugh lines deeper around his eyes and mouth, holding onto his little girl. Steve thinks he must look rougher than Tony remembers, from the way Tony holds her tighter and steps back from him when he shuts the door of his car, as if looking for an escape.
As if he could get away from Steve.
I love the soft vibe of this, and the way that Steve is so conflicted but utterly incapable of staying away from Tony is just--delicious. Add in soft, reluctant Daddy kink and I just--it’s like meidui poked around my brain and then wrote  the perfect story for me.
****there are still beautiful things by meidui
The day Tony takes Steve home from the New York Army National Guard is the best day of his life.
Tony had hardly wanted to spare his personnel file a second glance because, really, if the United States Armed Forces wants to send one of their captains to stay with him for three months and liaise with the weapons manufacturing division at his company, he has more than enough staff and lodging to accommodate the man without ever needing to hold a full conversation with him.
Tony tends to think with his dick at inopportune times, though, and when his gaze catches on Steve’s photo, serious blue eyes bright under dirty blond hair, plush pink lips begging to be bruised with kisses and cheekbones like they were carved by god himself, he licks his lips and thinks, oh, I want one.
While I am extremely fond of twink Tony and silver fox Steve--this switched the dynamics and it was…just everything. The vibe was almost dreamy, the soft spoiled bratty Steve was flawless, and how besotted Tony was is almost painful, except it’s so gentle and sweet, nothing hurt.
I finished reading through the Puzzle Pieces series, and I adored it. I am a sucker for well done kidfic and this is one of the best there are--Steve is such a protective grump, Tony an overprotective workaholic and their kid a mess of issues that any Hydra raised child would be. Clint and Bucky are perfect and beautiful and painful.
The Morning After the Night Before by sara_holmes
So they rescued the boys, beat up Hydra, decapitated the villain du jour - oh, and finally got your guy, in Bucky's case - and all got home safely. There's still some loose ends to tie up, though.
Technicolor by sara_holmes
Arto's favorite thing to learn is colors. Most of the Avengers are easy colors, but some are definitely more rainbow than the rest.
Tax Breaks and Exploding Unicorns by sara_holmes
Arto watches the news, and demands to know why Steve and Tony aren't married if they're allowed.
Adventures in Babysitting by sara_holmes
Arto Rogers has a knack for going out and attracting, causing, finding and involving himself in various degrees of trouble. Steve handles this with fortitude and dignity, except for that he really doesn't.
Another Mountain to Climb by sara_holmes
So as if Clint pulling a nearly-dying stunt wasn't bad enough, Bucky now has to deal with Clint's sidekick/younger brother blaming him for the entire mess. Frankly, Bucky thinks a) that Clint should sort himself out and stop running away, b) Steve and Tony should put a leash on their kid, and c) Thor and his friends should back the hell off.
Rogers Versus Rogers Versus School by sara_holmes
It's time for Arto to start school. It somehow goes as bad as Steve expected, and also better.
Special Delivery by sara_holmes
With most of the team away on missions across the globe - or further - Tony and Clint are left to keep an eye on Arto. Or maybe Tony is left to keep an eye on Clint and Arto. Either way, it was going to be a pretty easy - if not boring - few days.
That is, until a FedEx guy drops off a baby in the lobby. That's gonna make things slightly more complicated.
Crush by sara_holmes for 27dragons
Tony and Steve notice that Arto is acting weird. And not just your regular run-of-the-mill, member-of-the-Avengers-family weird, either. Like, teenager weird.
Bucky and Clint are no help, seeing as their kid is barely one and is happily just gross rather than weird.
Maximus by sara_holmes
Bucky is sick of aliens and then Thor brings one into the goddamn house, claiming it’s a birthday present? No thank you.
****All Time Low by sara_holmes
His stupid best friend isn't talking to him, his stupid superhero parents are having drama of their own, and his stupid brain is acting up no matter how much he ignores it. Arto Rogers-Stark is not having the best time.
Puzzle Pieces by sara_holmes
Arto is a baby-Rogers super soldier. His Dads are Captain America and Iron Man, his big brother is Hawkeye, his brother-or-uncle-depends-which-way-around-his-family-tree-he-goes is the Winter Soldier. Not to mention the rest of the Avengers that he lives with. Yeah, his life is probably certifiably insane, even when they're trying to be normal.
He doesn't mind so much.

I used to call myself an MCU fan until I realized most of what I loved post-Phase 1 was the fans filling in the holes or creating outright AUs entirely. In other words, I thought I was a fan of the MCU until I realized I preferred fanworks over canon.
LITERALLY me. It's why I hardcore bailed after Civil War. I realized everything I loved about the MCU and the Avengers were the fanworks created after the first and second movie (#never forget Clint in vents) and as much as I truly love Irondad, I lowkey resent it for bringing me back to the fandom. Because now my heart is heavily attached to something (not just something; something TPWT murdered in cold blood) and I've literally had to take both feet out of the fandom swimming pool just to survive. I'm not active in anything that isn't pre-Endgame and my time here is definitely limited because the further we get from that day and age, the less content there will be and the flame will ultimately burn out (I'm unfortunately old enough to know this is inevitable)
I have no idea what's going on with present MCU and have no desire to even look. The MCU fan baited a LOT of us and I'm not sure I'll ever get over that. I enjoy what I enjoy and with or without the MCU, the Avengers and Spider-Man and everyone else are timeless thanks to their comic origin counterparts. But the MCU remains a black stain on my heart. Despite the novels I've written and the content I still plan to create and consume, I do not call myself a MCU fan. And that's a very weird place to be.

How I Found The Irondad Spiderson Fandom
I came across Irondad Spiderson fanfictions when I was just scrolling on Youtube after I had recently gotten my first smart phone.  It was late at night.  At the time I was a HUGE Miraculous fan so I was honestly just looking for a good Ladynoir comic dub.  But I came across this video called “Weirdest Stony Fanfiction Ever.”  I had a cousin who introduced me to fanfiction when I was visiting her during Winter Break the year before.  So I knew what fanfiction was.  It had a thumbnail of fanart of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.  Being the thirteen year old that I was, I became very interested by this.  Mostly because I had never actually seen a gay couple before because of the very conservative place I was raised.  I clicked on the video and it was two guys reading a very “interesting” fanfiction about Stony.  They mentioned that they were reading it off of fanfiction.net.  So I googled the site on my phone and went through the Marvel section, reading every fanfiction I could find.  Later that week, my dad took me to Infinity War, which I was very confused by because the only Marvel film I had seen was Age Of Ultron.  Mostly because my parents being conservative, called the Marvel movies “guy movies” and assumed that I would be uninterested.  But after watching Infinity War, I gained a love for Doctor Strange and how much smarter he was then everyone else.  I’m not joking, I would have arguments with the people at my middle school about how Tony Stark was stupid and Doctor Strange was smarter than him.  Boy, was I wrong.  They put Doctor Strange on Netflix so I was finally able to see his orgin story.  It was a video on Youtube talking about how the MCU Spider-Man sucked that gained my interest to watch the new Spider-Man movie.  So I watched it on Youtube.  After watching it, I started searching fanfictions on Fanfiction.Net about Spider-Man.  I found this really graphic one that is still burnt in my brain where him and MJ were kidnapped and the only way they could escape was if Peter cut off his arm.  But along that fanfiction, I came across one called “The Tales Of Irondad and his Spiderson.”  And through that fanfiction I became an Irondad Spiderson fan.  The End.  (Sorry if this was super long)

Tw: csa
Back in the olden irondad days, my friend and I would joke about a drinking game where you took a shot every time the spidey csa psa comic was quoted almost word for word in a fic where the author clearly had never read another comic. Learned to filter him out with the tagging system eventually.
Tumblr media
Honestly it was one of the many sins of the irondad fandom that just doesn’t make any fucking sense to me. It was like living in constant cognitive dissonance to follow blogs and read fics from people who say in the same breath that the “comics don’t matter” and “fuck comic people” who would also reblog out of context comic panels “proving” irondad exists beyond the MCU AND writing skip fics while also saying in their reblogs and authors notes and in asks and sometimes with their with their whole chests in discord chats that they “can’t write MJ because it’s too difficult” and “flash is a bully” and “idk anything about may/she’s a bad mom” in total and complete sincerity.
Like 90% of skip fic could be nailed down to people projecting and exploring their own trauma and you know, I will not be the one to tell people how they need to cope but I WILL and CAN be fucking baffled that so many of the same “comics are SHIT we HATE the comics” would somehow find the (1) singular PSA comic from the 80s that isn’t even considered to be a part of the mainline continuity to be the GOLD STANDARD for fucking irondad. That 90% of said skip fics went out of their way to make May seem like an inept mom or that like Peter couldn’t/wouldn’t trust her or tell her anything or worse— make it so that Tony would be the one to go and save the day??? It might be a projection fantasy but it’s also fucking abhorrent that Peter’s fucking agency was stripped yet again by another dude in being “saved”. I can think of exactly (1) fic in this entire fucking fandom that treated Skip as a concept and a character with any kind of care to Peter as a fucking abused character searching for recovery. Nearly everything else was a watered down pale imitation that’s frankly offensive to who he is a character, much less to anyone who has been abused. Skip fic doesn’t care about Peter or abuse— it’s a power/savior fantasy to make Tony Peter’s god.
Skip fics might not be the worst trope in irondad but it certainly ranks in the top 10.

Favs of '23: Marvel:
10/10. That's it. That's the rating. Give it a Michelin or five if I could. My standards can't get higher now. I think this might be the best I've ever read. Winter Soldier origin story. No ships like Stucky or anything. Very dark, very cold, very very real. It's really a talent to be able to write a whole story in five chapters.
"Between the fall and the monsters, the Winter Soldier is in orbit. This is what happens in the Red Room. These are the people who make him what and who he becomes.
Inspired by comics canon, in particular Ed Brubaker's Captain America issue 11, which included pages from the Winter Soldier file, and far too many Cold War books. Because HYDRA in the movie uses the Winter Soldier as a blunt instrument, and blunt instruments do not become legends."
This could also be a 10/10 on its own but I put it in the same list as the first one so I have to lower it by a notch or two. It's like putting Joaquin Phoenix and Brad Pitt in the same room and labelling it 'Greatest Actors'. They're great, but on different levels. Anyway, this one's got amazing dialogue. Very in character. It's entertaining, but it's also a tragic comedy one-shot. It's fun and has a nice ending. For you Irondad and Spiderson lovers ig. But it's good. Well written. Superficially hilarious, but the actual message is kinda depressing but deep. Sums up Peter's college life pretty well if Tony were in the picture. It's the Goldilocks ratio of Raimi's Spider-Man, TASM, and MCU Spidey.
9/10. I read it a while ago, so I don't have much to say, but the writing is just beautiful. TW: relationship abuse. Skip Westcott.
But it's amazingly written and it's seen through the eyes of Steve. Like author's a genius with words. Check out their Batman stuff too 'cause it's just so so good. Good stuff. Like lick your fingers after eating kind of good.
Anyways, moving on.
Star Wars
9/10. Pretty sure everyone's read this one by now but same author, Beth Winter, so I had to give an honourable mention. I remember thoroughly enjoying this one and wishing we got to see more engineer Darth Vader and corporate environment in the Galactic Empire with Vader at the head 'cause I mostly only these kinds of stories in the comics and even then, not enough. I mean, for chrissake, it's a fundamental aspect of his character. I've seen some other ones with like Vader finding Luke through some sort of design submission or email and Luke's an aspiring Engineer from Tatooine but I'd give them like a 4/10. I have a very picky and very particular standard for writing though, and Beth Winter just writes very well. Same for the Gruoch fellow. I know I liked this one the most of all the Star Wars fics, but nothing hits the same as a Marvel Cold War fic so that's remaining at the top.
7/10. Started off so so so so good. Would've given a 10/10 if not for the ending. It's a series. Read both parts. Very very good. It's very beautifully written and it takes a very unique inspiration from the book A Secret Garden. It was a really clever combination and What If? so I love it. But I'm not the biggest fan of that abrupt ending. Anyways, SPOILERS AHEAD:
I feel like giving a character the possibility of redemption throughout and showing the more humane side and still at the very end judging them as too evil to live? Idk, I mean, it feels sudden. Like you feel me? The story was continuously leading to the possibility of a happy ending or at least something along the lines of a compromise. And then suddenly author basically said "actually Vader's an unredeemable piece of shit, so let's just kill him off. I know I made it seem like he had a good side and that there was a future where he could be a very good parent, but I changed my mind." Anyways, it's fanfiction. Can't be too critical. Nobody's getting paid to write this stuff so I'm not going to bash it too much for inconsistency, but it did feel like the story was desperately trying to show at first that the situation isn't so black and white, but then resorted to viewing it through a black and white lens at the end. Went from no such thing as "absolutes" to well, absolutes.
Ok, I'm done rambling. You get the picture. Next!
Harry Potter
Heed the warnings. 8/10. The writing's very good and the plot hooks you in immediately. But heed the warnings. Not for the faint of heart ig. Also covers sensitive topics. I'm kinda iffy about putting this on the same list as a Beth WInter fic but maybe I'm being overdramatic. It's not artsy is what I mean to say. Author didn't intend for it so come across as a poem. But the writing's still very very good and the plot is even better. UNFINISHED. I'm angrily waiting for an update. Like stalk author's tumblr waiting. Maybe that's why I'm being so petty with the rating and review.
Code Geass
Anything by this author:
Favorites are The Fool Ascendant and The House of Usher. 10/10, both. Haven't read all of them, but also, writing style is very artsy. Character and dynamic studies mostly, and snippets of things we didn't see in canon.

are you going to write more irondad
Possibly? Tony Stark - in the MCU anyway, I haven’t read his comics beyond his parts in the civil war arc - is a fascinating character and there’s really so much good shit to mine. He’s kind of a dick! He’s full of trauma! His dad was no picnic! (I was an avid Agent Carter fan, Howard is also a fascinating character.)
Will I? Unclear. But writing the biodad au has been such a goddamn delight, and I wanna explore more, I think. We’ll see what that looks like in practice.

I chose my baby Spider-Man/Peter Parkee, with a focus on the starker fandom!
1. How did you discover your fave?
spider-man movies -> video edits on insta/tiktok -> irondad fanfics on wattpad -> ao3 -> looking at starker in disgust -> becoming a part of the fandom
2. How long have you been a fan of your fave?
since homecoming! when it first came out but it took me a while to start interacting with the fandom
3. Do you write for your fave? (E.g. AU's, Drabbles, Fan Fics.)
sorta! i don't actively write, just kinda drabble sometimes and i mostly dont post that, plus helping others write, i do have drafts that have been in my docs for years though
4. Do you like what is canon about your fave?
i do but i feel bad for him! poor guy has nobody :((, but before endgame i was in love with canon.
5. Tell some of your headcanons of your fave.
•his spider abilities on top of the originals like purring, cant have peppermint, hibernates, etc
•his love of animals, always stopping on patrols to say hi to them or trying to keep the strays he finss
•being worthy of mjolnir and picking it up without knowing the significance
•that he worms his way into the hearts of everyone he meets
6. Do you draw for your fave? (E.g. Fan Art)
no i dont, but i love seeing others fan art obviously!
7. If your fave/s are portrayed by several actors, who are your fave portrayers?
basic, ik, but tommy.
8. Are you more into Books/ Comics/Films when it comes to your fave?
mostly the fanfics then anything, but the movies and comics are so entertaining.
9. Quote anything about what your fave has said.
this ones weird but when i went to new york i went out of my way to go to moma because of him mentioning it to tony
10. Quote your favourite line of your fave!
basic but the "When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you." because even though its sad/semi unhealthy to put that pressure on yourself, i relate to it in a way and uphold myself to helping whenever i can.
11. Ever made a edit for/of your fave?
i dont think so? maybe photos but that would have been a while ago
12. Songs you associate with your fave?
anything to do w new york really
13. If your fave was real, do you think they'd like you?
i think so, if we meant in a natural way lolol, i try to be social and i think id be able to joke with him

15. Do you know your fave origin story?
yes i doo, radioactive spider bite, yada yada, parents dead, yada yada, uncle shot, rip, grew up in queens & stayed there
16. In 1 word describe your fave’s aesthetic.
akward
17. Is/Are your fave/s famous on A03?

i like them, idk if theyd like me now that ive gone to the dark side lol
21. Describe yourself using something your faves have said
oops kinda did this already for another question but, "I am Responsible. I…Oh crap. My backpack’s gone." I try to be responsible but i am very clumsy and forgetful lol, and i do a lot of stupid shit
22. If you would feed your fave/s something, what would it be?
as big of a meal as i could possibly make, very carby, probably pasta, get some meat on those bones and feed the super apetite
23. How do you see yourself in any of your fave/s?
i see the optimism/ akwardness in myseld as well, we are semi-close in age so i think that contributes to it
24. Ever taken a break from your fave/s?
sorta, it was very short and it was mostly in between going from irondad to starker as well as small breaks i took from everything lol
25. If your fave/s were to have a crossover, who and which character would they have a crossover with?
well they did have one with stephen and the other spidermen but i think it would be cool to see him really interacting w the women of marvel, aka kate, yelena or natasha (also rip), pepper, captain marvel, america chavez, etc.

Me, looking through the Riri Williams tag to get a better feel for her character:
MCU Tony fans: making dozens of posts about Tony’s “adopted kids”, including people like Kamala and Peter, who already have parental figures.
