#let me be happy with dadneto

Note
hi lovely, i just read love run + i loved it. not sure if you’re taking requests but id really like to read a fic where peter tells magneto he’s his dad. we were robbed of that moment in the movies + im looking for my happy ending 😭😌
Hey, thank you so much and I'm so sorry it's been like 3 years since I received this ask and I'd love to write that happy ending and I've tried, I do have a wip for this, but i keep getting stuck on it, first when wandavision happened and briefly gave me hope and then killed off any motivation, then i was distracted writing a different fic and finally the big road block, which is why i'm answering this without a fic attached because frankly idk if or when that's gonna happen, because i realised i just have no idea how to write Erik. he stumps me and idk why, but i'll type up Peter chattering and have absolutely no clue how to let Erik respond, and the times i do get something out, i'm mostly kind of reproducing what i've read and loved from elsewhere, which isn't the point because like. plagiarism.
tldr: I'm so sorry i haven't answered this, but i can't figure out how to write erik. (on that note: Go read the building of the house if you haven't, it's my favourite dadneto fic and the link should be somewhere in my 'cool things other people wrote' tag)

RP Request :)
Casting my line out there for anyone to roleplay Fox's X-Men. I'm really hoping to find some long term discord RPs for certain pairings, because I haven't been having luck finding anyone willing to write out of text format. I write multi paras/lit/borderline novella, and I love plotting/talking OOC. If you are interested, please be 20+, as I am an adult and not comfortable writing with minors.
I will also put it out there that my work schedule varies so most times, I usually work ungodly hours weekdays. So I will not be pumping out replies daily. Most likely it will be a few times a week at most.
The characters I would want to play in bold. I am more than willing to double up and discuss anything!
✨Cherik/Mutant Husbands {Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr} What I would give to write them- I absolutely love them. They are so fantastic for AUs or Canon divergence, and I would do so much for them. Bonus points if Dadneto is involved because them.
✨✨JeanSilver/SilverPhoenix/QuickPhoenix {Jean Grey/Peter Maximoff} A rare pair I would die for- because no one knows of them as a pairing, let alone write them. Please. Please this could be such a trip.
Mystique/Azazel I don't know their ship name, but this is a ship I am so curious to explore, test the waters, also with their son Kurt/Nightcrawler- I love them, missed opportunities.
Beastique {Hank/Raven} Another one I would love to explore more and honestly just have them be happy- or angsty, the world is our oyster.
PLATONIC Summers Brothers They deserved better, point blank period. Let's give them a better ending.
If you are interested, interact or DM me! More likely to check my DMs

hey!! Your fic recommendations are always elite–I was wondering if you had any kid fics, thank you <3
Hi anon. I have plenty of kid fics for you. Since you didn't quite specify what kind of kid fic you wanted I decided to divide it into fics where Charles and Erik are kids or get deaged and fics that involve kids. This is kind of a long list so I hope that there are plenty of new fics for you to read.
Cherik Kid Fic
--They are kids or get deaged--
Conspiracy of Kisses - Alaceron
Summary: Seven-year-old Erik needs to keep his telepathic best friend Charles from finding out that he wants to kiss him. But that's okay, because he has a plan - he'll put on a tinfoil hat.
Chasing After You - Alaceron
Summary: Charles isn't very good at tag. Erik helps
We’ll be the sum - afrocurl, ninemoons42
Summary: In between bouts of blanket burrito-ing and vegging out on movies, Charles and Erik figure out how they currently feel about each other.
Of course, they're schoolboys and they're on a sleepover and also Edie dotes on them both excessively, so things work out just fine.
Growing pains - ikeracity
Summary: Twelve-year-old Erik Lehnsherr is an angry, closed-off foster kid with trust issues and a bad temper. Ten-year-old Charles Xavier is a lonely kid in boarding school who just wants a friend.
Logan pretends he doesn't think they're both fucking adorable.
Valentine’s day – ikeracity
Summary: Kid fic! Erik waits impatiently all day at school to give Charles a card for Valentine's Day. Maybe Charles has something for him too...?
Now You Know You Know it Now – luninosity
Summary: Erik’s not sure why he keeps glancing at the other boy. Not as if Erik likes other kids, or other people in general, for that matter. But still—he finds himself looking. Again.
This Family Comes with Batteries - Fishwrites, lynneh
Summary: An orphaned Charles Xavier goes to live with his Godfather: Tony Stark. This story is a tale of what would have happened to the events of MCU, if Tony was raising a six year old telepath in Stark Tower. There is also the matter of Charles' robot AI manny/bodyguard/tutor/only-friend, David.
You’re Not Doing This Alone – flightinflame, Lynds
Summary: What's meant to be a simple recruitment mission leads to both Erik and Charles being de-aged back to thirteen years old. Terrified and out of their depth, the boys try to hide their situation and help each other until they can work out what is going on.
Charles Xavier, A Retelling – Extra_fried_noodles
Summary: An attempt to reverse his paralysis goes wrong, and Charles is de-aged into a 2 year old toddler. While Hank scrambles to fix the situation, the whole gang is here to help. Through a mix of selective memory, they watch Charles relive his childhood, revealing some deeply hidden and painful truths.
Protective Instinct – Groovyhornbill
Summary: Charles and Erik were testing Cerebro’s new prototype when things went very wrong.
Divergence – Lynds
Summary: Universes and timelines collide, dropping two younger versions of Charles Xavier into the midst of the hunt for Sebastian Shaw. Now the newly formed X-men have to deal with a strangely quiet and self-reliant six year old, and a sixteen year old covered in bruises.
Erik, in particular, has to accept that the man he loves hasn't had the kind, happy upbringing he wished for him. But these children are here now, and Erik's not going to let anyone hurt them this time.
--Where they have kids--
Sink or Swim – endingthemes
Summary: Erik is a struggling single dad of three kids with a burning hatred for Sebastian Shaw, the man who wronged him years ago. He’s tried to move on with his life, but a run-in with Shaw’s rude, spoiled omega, Charles, drags up old anger. When Charles ends up in the hospital after an accident, Erik goes to confront him only to find that Charles has amnesia. In the confusion, Charles mistakenly assumes that Erik is his mate.
Erik knows he should clear up the misunderstanding, but how can he pass up this perfect chance for a little revenge?
(An Overboard AU)
Rumor Has It - blueink3
Summary: "Did I hear the doorbell earlier?"
"Yeah, but I'd steer clear if I were you. It seemed a little tense. I don't know what's going on, but there's a kid out there who looks freakily like the prof."
Nearly six months after Cuba, Charles' life is turned upside down for the second time. Though he's slowly learning to adapt to the first, he's not sure he can handle the second. Luckily for him, there are a few people out there more than willing to help.
Words and Pictures – pocky_slash
Summary: When Lorna's powers manifest early, Charles Xavier's mutant picture books are the perfect teaching tool. Erik just hadn't expected the author to be so young. Or attractive. Or available.
Write this number down (you can call it anytime) – pocky_slash
Summary: When Erik upsets his children, they have a habit of running away from home--and straight to Charles' school for cookies and consolation. Charles doesn't mind the visitors, but as they appear more and more frequently, he realizes that sooner or later, he and Erik are going to have to talk about what happened on the beach and what it means for their future and the future of Erik's children.
Dress Your Family in Plaid and Skinny Jeans – cygnaut
Summary: Erik and Charles meet at the mutant playgroup/parenting support circle and they instantly hit it off. And so do their kids, Lorna and David.
Not What I was Expecting (So Much Better) – lazulisong
Summary: Erik, the single father, hires Charles, the grad student with the slightly shady past, to be his manny.
Heli Cases – Black_Betty
Summary: "Heli Cases" is a program on PBS whose aim is to educate on the rapidly increasing occurrence of genetic mutation in the general populous by breaking the complex science down into palatable, easy to digest pieces.
It is also the only thing that helps Erik get his fussy daughter to fall asleep.
(Featuring Dadneto, baby Lorna and the struggles of single fatherhood, and Charles as the host of a late night show about genetics.)
Doing Something for Yourself – Pookaseraph
Summary: Erik is a hard working engineer and single dad, Charles runs a local Community Center where Wanda and Pietro spend their time after school. Erik accidentally makes Charles' acquaintance one Wednesday evening when he's running late from work. Erik has no idea if he stands a chance with his new acquaintance, but that isn't going to keep him from falling for the guy.
A Good Dad – listerinezero
Summary: Ten years later, Magneto has left the Brotherhood and Raven asks Charles to help her find him. Charles discovers that Erik is the single father of five year old twins Wanda and Pietro, and he is doing everything he can to keep them safe from his former enemies.
Take a Chance (On Me) – Ook
Summary: In which Charles, terrorised by his abusive ex, takes his young son to a small town in America, where they both settle down and make friends with their neighbours. Particularly the town mechanic, Erik, and his foster son, Alex. Requester stated they wanted to "drown in H/C. "
Can’t Buy Me Love – niniblack
Summary: Erik's a single dad struggling to make it work and nab the promotion he's been waiting for. The last thing he needs is to get involved with politician and notorious playboy Charles Xavier.
(The Maid in Manhattan pastiche that no one asked for.)
Ohana – royal_chandler
Summary: Erik's children are absolute hellions. If by hellions, one means children who are incredibly protective of their new family unit and won't let a few household mishaps get in the way of keeping it together.
One Second and a Million Miles – magneto
Summary: Between being a parent to the best baby in the history of man-kind and co-running a Mutant Center in Hell's Kitchen, Erik Lehnsherr has his hands pretty full. Too full, certainly for romance; something that has never really been on his radar to begin with.
All that changes, however, when he meets Dr. Charles Xavier. Handsome, intelligent, capable, kind, an Omega level telepath, and one of the best pediatricians in the state, he's everything Erik didn't know he was looking for. But he's also Lorna's pediatrician which means, of course, he's off-limits. Except how is Erik supposed to try and forget his crush when he and Charles keep running into each other as if fate is trying to tell them something? When, as Charles says, they seem to want the same thing?
Her Only Mutations Were Her Blue Eyes and Her Auburn Hair – Pookaseraph
Summary: While sneaking back out of Russia, Erik and Charles stumble across Anya, Erik's presumed dead daughter, and it changes quite a few little things along the way. Fluffy, self-indulgent, fix-it.
Despicably Yours – Cesare, veryorangecat
Summary: Erik Lehnsherr, AKA Magneto, is a supervillain without equal... except maybe one: Charles Xavier, AKA Professor X, AKA Erik's next door neighbor. When their competition heats up, Erik decides the only way to get ahead is to adopt four mutant orphans to infiltrate Charles's mansion.
Things don't go as planned.
The Wrong Impression – Rosawyn
Summary: Charles is trying to balance the responsibilities of his career with his responsibilities as a single father to a tiny baby. It's not something he ever thought he'd have to do, and it's not as easy as those women on the internet make it look! He does't have much of a social life (unless talking to his sister on the phone and attending a parents' class where he's the only guy count), and he doesn't even have time to think of dating. He's just trying to keep his job - and keep his son fed and healthy.
Marrying a Mob – Ook
Summary: Charles is a teacher at a very exclusive school. When armed men burst in on the trail of two children, of course he stands up to them and gets hurt. The children are Erik Lehnsherr's children (of course); a "prominent businessman" or, less politely, "mobster".
Erik is grateful to Charles for saving his children's lives at the cost of his kneecap. So very grateful.
Naturally he tries to reward Charles for his actions. Equally naturally, Charles will be having none of that.
Azazel finds the whole thing unspeakably hilarious. Naturally.

@joanofarkansass Glad you liked my fic recs! Here are some more marvel + xmen ones:
Catch Me Through the Looking-Glass by ylixia
"It's like a recurring nightmare: Steve Rogers, trapped in a world that is not his own, new love left behind, and nothing to keep him going but questions."
This fic is one of the more popular ones for a damn good reason. A Steve Rogers just reflecting on his relationship with his own Tony AND another Steve and Tony's relationship and getting PISSED the whole time.
Conflict of Interest by NotQuiteHumanAnymore
"Tumblr prompt! alien-angel-orsentientpotato (AKA my firstborn, Cheyenne) asked "Okay so headcanon for x-men evolution. Despite Pietro and Kurt being on separate teams they have a weird understanding of each other as they are both fidgety. Pietro because everything moves so slow and Kurt because he's not used to sitting still or being in one place for long periods of time like school demands. So through this understanding they form a weird pseudo friendship thing in which they race each other, play tag, and see what pranks they can pull on each other without getting caught." And it became this 30k behemoth."
I will be real, I ship Peter/Kurt which is definitely a very rarepair lol, but this fic was very cute! It's based on the xmen evolution cartoon. Even if you don't know much about it, I'd recommend giving this fic a shot!
With a Child's Heart by Scarlet_Ribbons
"“Oh, god.” Steve whispers, sounding as horrified as Tony feels. “You’re so young. Tony, he’s so young.”
Spider-Man coughs once, a frail, baby-bird sound.
.
(They find his body in a Dumpster.)"
:((((( Vry sad but vry good
don't know why it took me so long to see by goodmorningbeloved (3799steps)
"“Oh, watch this,” Natasha says, propping her chin against her knuckles and turning a sweet gaze on him. “Tony, what’s it like dating a superhero?”
Tony bristles in irritation. “We’re not dating,” he snaps. “Captain America probably thinks he can get into anyone’s pants just ‘cause he’s got a mask, costume, and reputation, but not me, buddy. That shield? Gotta be overcompensating for something.” He adds, a bit petulantly, “Oh, and all that blue? Definitely more Steve’s color than his.”
- In which Tony is a genius in all matters except recognizing his boyfriend past a mask."
A true comedy of errors lol. Tony doesn't realize that his boyfriend Steve is Captain America.
Idiot Control Now by @cygnaut
"Hank screws something up in the lab and everyone's powers increase tenfold. Not knowing how to control them like this, they all try to cope and not kill each other by mistake while Hank tries to find a way to reverse the effects. Charles has a particularly hard time of it."
I got distracted and reread this while making this list. VERY funny and also very creative in how their powers could fly out of control without devolving into crack territory. I LOVE cygnaut's fic and got distracted reading a bunch get ready for some more y'all
Adventures in Babysitting by cygnaut
"When Jean, Scott, and Ororo get in trouble and have nowhere to turn, they call on the last person they probably should—Magneto."
DADNETO!! I LOVE the way cygnaut writes the Erik and Ororo relationship, if I ever write xmen fanfic assume Erik is Ororo's dad in it okay I don't make the rules anymore only cygnaut makes the rules.
Blessed is the Match Consumed by cygnaut
""This isn't a concentration camp," Delta says, calm, like he's been rehearsing it. Erik looks at the gun on his hip, the guards behind him in the corridor, the bars between them.
He smiles with a lot of teeth. "I think I'd know that better than you."
AU in which the beach divorce didn't happen and Erik decides to stay and help Charles start his school. But despite their clean break, the government isn't ready to let the mutants disappear into hiding."
A brutal and really well-written fic.
Plausible Deniability by DragonBandit
"Kurt and Peter travel across mutant America to recruit for Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Kurt has a crush. Peter is oblivious."
Another nightsilver fic that I really like!
Clint Barton's Super Secret Snipers' Club by sara_holmes
"Clint Barton's Super Secret Snipers' Club. (Invitation and pending mental health evaluation required.)
"When Steve brings Bucky back to the tower for the first time, Clint’s first thought is that Tony Stark’s pride and joy is quickly becoming a less of a very tall and expensive ‘fuck you’ in the faces of investors who don’t believe in self-sustaining energy, and more of a superhero rehabilitation center."
Boyfriends, compromises and learning to like oneself."
SARA HOLMES WINTERHAWK QUEEN
Way Down We Go by @clarkestetler and @goosenik
"After being attacked and forcibly separated from Eddie Brock, Venom bonds to Peter Parker in order to seek both revenge on the LIFE Foundation and any evidence of his previous host. Peter Parker isn't exactly thrilled about this turn of events and turns to the Avengers for help managing his new symbiote."
I've recently fallen into the Peter/Harry ship and this fic quickly became one of my favorites! Very domestic and sweet but also scary and also Peter having a relatively realistic reaction to suddenly being possessed by an alien tickled me.
Turning Tables by @iamallyetnotatall
"Thanos knows if he leaves Tony Stark alive, that Earth's mightiest defender will find a way to undo all of his hard work.
So when he snaps and wipes away half the universe, he ensures that Tony Stark is one of those that fade to nothing.
I.E - a what-if series of ficlets where Tony is dusted and Peter isn't. HAPPY ENDING GUARANTEED"
Very Good. Pepper and Peter and Morgan family bonding is great.
I Don't Want To Keep A Secret by DOA
"As their senior year begins, Peter Parker and Harry Osborn have a lot to figure out on their own.
Peter has his hands full with his Aunt dating again, college, potential romance, and being superhero with a secret identity that may be more trouble than it's worth. Then Harry, with a troubling father, an uncertain future, possibly unrequited love, a family secret, and an ugly green monster that he has no control over.
But what happens if their separate problems are more related than they think?"
A very cute and plotty Parksborn fic set in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe. It does have first person POV and has been incomplete for over a year which :( but I did enjoy what I read!
There you have it! Half of these fics are kind of Really Popular fics (which are popular for good reason) and fics that just happen to really personally appeal to me lmao

<Angry and drained rant>
I feel emotionally battered. I'm never, ever going to expect anything out of mcu. If they're going to waste a perfect build up like this, I doubt they'll ever put the effort to bring Peter into their own little doll house of an universe.
I love the theories coming up from fans and they can be true, plus they're excellent premises for fanfics so I can't wait to read them, but it's the same 'can' where Fietro could have been Peter: A possibility that disney will conveniently exploit once again if they get the chance. I realized from WV that disney has so much pride for their own mcu world building that they won't let anything other than mcu be the focus point of their story. They're enamoured by their own creations too much. (A surprise that deadpool survives, but I'm certain they worked their calculator and figured that rebooting deadpool is a waste rather than profit, plus they can grab onto prior Fox fans while focusing on their huge projects. Also a great complementary character to make mcu characters more fun).
A superficial reference to hook fans- great, but actual engagement- no, our characters are the center. No Romani background, no systematic oppressions that real minorities actually face, no accurate Asian depiction and so forth-no no no, 'We' are the center. With this stance and their audacity to toy with fans from other franchises just calls for thousands of other red herrings and references in the future that lead to dead ends and don't really matter to the plot. Making fans who lost their favorite movie franchise stay tuned with hope, but disney actually working their ass off on their special beloved project of building a perfectly manufactured story to reflect the world with.
This is why I hate the monopoly of disney, I want to choose the perspective: what superhero depiction I like. And I loved the X-men. Now they've got their hands on them all and are cherry picking charming elements from other movies and slapping them on to cover up their own insufficient parts, and it just pains to see a long loved franchise be disemboweled like that. The Fox X-men character Peter is fragmented now, never able to escape the tasteless boner joke thrown around like little children giggling about shit.
Disney has plenty of projects they plan to work on including the X-men reboot, which makes sense why they disrespected the Fox X-men franchise and made them a literal joke. I think they wanted to really put a period on the Fox X-men's legacy, because they want to start over a profitable nn year project without being affiliated and burdened with the already well known X-men franchise. I know Dark Phoenix sucked, but also they were done dirty being in the middle of the merging of companies. They compromised and gave up so much so knowing that it was originally planned to be a 2 part movie just pains to think of. The time, resources, infrastructures, brand value and power disney has can not be underestimated. They have power over the fans and I refuse to adhere to it. I know that nothing is set stone but I can't get invested like this again only to receive disappointment of this magnitude.
Bottom line I love dadneto and Peter because it makes me happy. I'm sure many fans are the same, and I hope we take care of ourselves because being happy is what matters. I'm gonna take a rest now and reread dadneto fics.

Okay, me again, taking the risk of you get bored of me.
Let's talk about one of my favorite canons that are base for tones of headcanons.
💫 Magnus is Jewish 💫
And his happiest memory is he with his mother celebrating Hannukah.
So imagine he in this time of the year. Imagine that when any of x family members get seriously injured he pray the Jewish healing pray. Imagine he all excited to celebrate it and teach it to the others. Imagine he answering all the kids questions about Jewish history, traditions, etc.
I never get bored of these! They are so much fun! I have more X-Men winter/Hanukkah/X-Mas head canons than I know what to do with, so I am happy to talk with you about them!
The X-Men get injured all the time. Furthermore, they die a lot (and then come back. Sometimes upwards of five times, like Jean Grey). He would probably recite a Jewish healing prayer once a week.
Kitty Pryde is Jewish too! That makes Magneto, Wanda, Pietro, and Kitty all Jewish. I personally like to imagine that they celebrate Jewish holidays together. Charles is usually invited, because he is a father figure to the kids and a husband figure to Magnus.
A couple more head canons, if you dare to read below the line!! These will mostly be about Magnus and the kids interacting.
First of all, Magneto and his kids. Dadneto. He would teach them all about the history of his people, though he would not tell them what he went through until they were older. After all, it left him with significant trauma, and he does not want to scare the children. But he would teach them to play dreidel, and sing them songs like Light One Candle around the holidays.
Because Kitty is also Jewish, he would include her in many of these things. She always brings an extra flair to the games and songs. Kitty and Wanda would sing all kinds of carols around Hanukkah together—it would drive the others crazy. Pietro would sometimes join in, but he often gets drowned out by the girls. He’s resorted to headphones during the holidays, until Magnus makes him take them off—or removes them with his mutation.
Jean is always curious about history. She’s a smart one. When she was young, she asked Magnus what the tattoo on his forearm meant. At the time, she had no idea. He said he would tell her when she got older, which he did. She cried. She sees Charles as a father, and so she would see Magnus as her dad’s boyfriend. It would break her heart to hear what happened to him. To cheer her up, Magnus told her about all of his happier memories. He reminded her that just because he was persecuted for his religion, that does not make it any less of who he is. He is proud of his heritage, no matter what.
Lots of the other kids, like Scott and Kurt and Jubilee, have all sung Hanukkah songs without even knowing it. They’re just catchy. Magnus finds it endearing.
Once again, thank you so much for all the asks! Please, by all means, keep sending them!

WANDA VISION FINALE SPOILERS!!!!
.
.
.
.
Ok so like am I just supposed to be ok with that ending. I loved it it was great Wanda unlocking her full potential is great. The goodbye seen was heartbreaking and so was saying goodbye to the twins. Overall it was a very good conclusion to the series though it wasnt really a conclusion at all it left me with a lot of questions but I still loved it. What really pissed me off is that as much as i love Marvel i also hate them so much for what they put me through with that Pietro thing. Like I really wanted them to reveal that he was Peter and for Wanda to send him back to his own universe when she closed the hex. The fact that he was just some random guy and Marvel used Evan Peters just for fun kills me. THEIR VIEWS WOULD SKYROCKET IF THEY GAVE US THE DADNETO RESOLUTION WE ALL WANT. They merged with fox now so they have the power to do it. I would even be happy with them just acknowledging it, or just saying it was Peter putting him back home and moving on. Not whatever the hell they thought that was. That killed me absolutely killed me. My favorite character in XMen was Peter aside from Alex in first class but that's beside the point. They literally said "oh let's give Peter a really traumatic backstory, make his dad be a terrorist, reveal that said terrorist is his dad to the fans, then never talk about it again". I know that Evan was filming AHS at the time but they could have found ways to imply or at least suggest the resolution. Instead they bait us and then leave us heartbroken over that goodbye and angry over the Peter thing.

Here, let me dump my AHS Apocalypse thoughts on you. I really tried to keep it short, I swear.
What an exciting start! I thought this would be about averting an apocalypse that we'd never actually get to see (sorta like The X-Files did and I'm still grumpy about).
Finally making use of the pierced ears! Not to be shallow, but my god, I could look at the Aesthetically Pleasing Boy all day.
Aw, I was hoping the news broadcast would end with the Turner Doomsday Video.
Nice casting for Timothy, dude reminds me of Matt Smith.
"The stew is Stu!" What a delicious pun, five stars!
Michael's light eyes are creepy as fuck. I guess that makes it good casting.
Ugh, the cursed suit is back. But the idea that it might be Tate wearing it again gave me a great bout of LOLs about this character combo. So that's what it would be like to watch someone's fanfic.
Time in a Bottle, they really fucking had to, huh? This show really knows how to torture its viewers. "This song makes me so melancholic." Same, Dinah, so fucking same.
Whoa, Mallory vs. Michael was when it got interesting!
They for fucking real had Mallory utter the words "Dark Phoenix"! That's not the torture I signed up for!
Wait, not just witches, but those we already know?! Oh man, this show!
Wow, we even see Queenie again! Oh, I do love it when shows correct grievous wrongs, HINT, HINT, NUDGE, NUDGE in now particular direction!
JPM, my beloved! But so weird to have Michael meet another of Evan's characters and it still isn't Tate.
"Solitaire it is." Poor baby!
We got Queenie and even Madison back, so I was desperate for Misty - and the show actually delivered! Am I high, is this season all a dream?
And then they even bring all the Murder House characters back!
Moira gets peace at last!
We finally see the 4th kid that I swear was mentioned but never shown in S1. Or did I overlook her or something? How did she die anyway?
Whoa, so my idea about Tate having been influenced by the house was right!
Ep 7 finally explained how come Myrtle is back! They took their fucking time, I'm offended.
Dear god, no, the He-Man hair!
That Ryan Reynolds joke felt like the X-Men reciprocating Deadpool's Hugh Jackman joke.
"Had a little name change recently for reasons of branding and whatnot" What, you mean that's an actual thing and not something Facebook recently invented?
Jennifer Lawrence is mentioned. By Jeff of course. Stop, guys, I can't handle any more!
"Who the fuck are you?" Come on, you can't tell me I'm seeing things, he said that just the way Dadneto did!
Okay, NOW I'm probably just seeing things: in his introduction scene (hey, timeline-wise it is) the guy with the almost colorless hair is wearing something with tigers on it!!!
Then even Marie Leveau comes back! This season is such a trip!
And there it finally is, solving the problem of AHS Apocalypse à la Days of Future Past. Fun times!
Running Michael over was too simple. But despite that very anticlimactic solution Mallory is still awesome. What is it with witches being so great?
What happened to Moira in the new timeline? Did they go to the Murder House again to free her? Did they help Violet/Tate set sail?
And what from previous seasons was changed by averting the apocalypse?
Whoopsie, the next end of the world is set for 2024 already. That's like only 3 seasons away.
I'd say plotwise this was my favourite season.
Finally another person who actually likes AHS Apocalypse!
Also yes ^^ I love Mr. Gallant
I feel bad because I don't remember who Timothy is, it's been awhile since I've watched it.
THAT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE LINES I QUOTE IT ALL THE TIME LOL
Michael is creepy >_>
Ryan Murphy confirmed it's not Tate that time. It's just some demon?? Yeah idk.
I'm always reminded of DOFP with that song being in AHS.
I LOVE THE PART WHERE THE WITCHES SHOW BACK UP IT'S SOOO GOOD
I feel bad for JPM too :(
I was so happy for Moira that she finally got a happy ending!
LMAO YEAH THE WIG WAS NOT IT... Also the makeup was bad XD. People joke that he looks like Ellen.
I think I might have cheered when Michael got ran over
Ghosts aren't affected by the time changes so if I'm correct they all still have their happy endings.
I'm glad you liked it!

Everybody talks about how great an Avengers reality TV show would be, and I totally agree, but what about an X-Men reality TV show? Like, Charles allows a TV crew to come and record around the school so more kids want to go, and it all goes to complete shit. Like, imagine what they all would be doing
Peter-
He’d be annoying as he possibly could, and prank literally everyone. He’d try to make it look like the worst possible place you could go to. Sometimes Warren would get in on his pranks, unless Kurt found out and forced him out of it. He’d constantly annoy Scott to the point of Scott being completely ready to murder him, and would skip out on all of his chores. They try to get him to stop going on camera, but this little bitch always finds a way. He is super immature, but can act serious if needed. He’d make a bunch of shitty references and play video games all the time. When someone is talking, you can almost always see him doing Fortnite dances in the back for no reason but his own amusement. He plays a bunch of old songs, and is always blasting them, in the middle of the night. Scott almost throws his speakers out the window multiple times. He also has a record player- and he usually plays Queen or some shit. The show has almost gotten copyrighted so many times because of him.
Scott-
Tries to make the school look perfect. Talks about the academics, the clubs, and how everyone is welcome. In a lot of angles, you can see him quietly studying in the background. He introduces the newer kids to the camera crew, and the crew follow him around as he shows them around the school. He’s completely done with Peter’s bullshit. The crew has witnessed him try to laser Peter multiple times, but he only does it because he knows Peter can quickly dodge it. He’s often the subject of Peter’s pranks. Tries to make it look like they live in a safe environment, five minutes later the kitchen and common room are both up in flames, Ororo is trying to put them out with her powers, Jean happens to be the one who started them after Peter pissed her off, Peter’s running around because somehow his jacket caught on fire, Jubilee is bawling her eyes out, Warren is pissing himself laughing, and Kurt’s no where to be seen. He has teleported all the way to Guatemala. He is starting a new life there. He can no longer deal with the constant fear he has living there. Scott is just 320% disappointed with his friends antics.
Jean-
It takes the camera crew a while to find her, sometimes. She tries not to be on it a lot. She usually hides out in the back of the library, studying. She can also be found hanging out with the group, one of the only times she seems content when they film her. She also tries to help a bit with Scott’s cause, that the school is great, but often finds herself listing the shitty parts instead. She sets stuff on fire because of Peter a lot, and is quick to apologize after, begging for forgiveness. She can also be found at the archery range, but they decide not to bother her, as she seems happy and calm and not stressed for once. She’s usually the calmest one, except for one she gets really pissed. Everyone goes to her for advice, and she’s actually insanely trustworthy with information (Well, she has been hearing everyone’s secrets her whole life).
Kurt-
Literally has no idea what is happening. 110% confused he just wants peace and quiet. He was surprised the first time he watched a TV show, and now they’re suddenly in one? And there’s no script? What is he supposed to say?! He goes to Jean for help because he’s kind of embarrassed that he doesn’t get it. Even after getting advice, he’s still really confused. Almost every time the camera lands on him, he teleports away because he’s scared of screwing it up. Warren tries to assure him he’s fine, but he’s still scared as hell. Sometimes the camera crew catch him reacting to things he’s never seen before because of the circus. Jubilee usually is the one introducing him to them. Oh, him and Jubilee watch the Bachelor together. The camera crew find him sleeping all the time. Doesn’t matter where. He is asleep. They do not bother him. The simply get a quick shot, and move on. He’s just an oblivious adorable dork who needs help around things.
Warren-
Having the time of his life. He loves the cameras, because he can say things the whole world can hear. Has criticized his dad multiple times on camera, hoping he would hear it. He gets in on Peter’s pranks a lot and loves pissing people off. He honestly does not give a fuck if people are mad at him because he holds his own opinions. They catch him drunk multiple times, and it’s always fucking hilarious. The flying shots they get of him are pretty cool, too. He’s, surprisingly, apologized on the show about the Apocalypse situation. Acts protective of Kurt, and is almost always seen with him. Warren and Peter hold a love-hate relationship. They make fun of each other a lot, but, they’re kind of best friends. They tell each other almost everything. They’ve been caught smoking on the roof and talking before, and Warren calls him his birth name to annoy him. Warren’s wings are super fluffy, and the whole group seems to think so, because they’re always all up on them. He was caught red-handed one night when they found him with a bunch of conditioner, bringing the entire bag into the bathroom to shower with. He had to admit it then and there- he conditions them in fear of anyone getting hurt because of them. He acts bitchy, but he cares. He was lucky enough to earn their trust in the first place, in his opinion.
Ororo-
She often talks about serious issues on camera, because she finally has the platform to do so. The camera crew comes with her to Black Lives Matter and feminism events. She protests often, and people start to recognize her at the protests because of the show. She sometimes disappears for days to weeks, confusing everyone when she comes back with a group of new mutants. “Found them, adopted them,” Is her only response when questioned. She can be insanely hilarious at times. When she’s super upset, she’ll make it storm for days and lock herself away in her room. One time they recorded her decking a guy for catcalling her, even after she said to go away. Her hair is constantly changing, and nobody knows how. She’ll not leave the mansion at all and one moment she has this hair style, the next she’ll have a different one.
Jubilee-
Literally ecstatic about the cameras. Bubbly the whole time, she’ll bounce around and show the camera’s her favorite areas of the school. She rants about the most random shit on camera, and at random times will shout herself out. ‘Follow me on Instagram @-’ ‘My Twitter is-’. She’ll talk about her favorite shows and her dreams and such, and she’s just really pure the whole time. An absolute queen. She lets the camera crew record one of her girl nights with Jean and Ororo. Most expect it to be super cliche, with facemasks on while they paint each other’s nails. But- but no. They’re pranking everyone. Scott automatically believes it to be Peter, meanwhile the trio is climbing in the vents over him. Everyone in the mansion is surprised after seeing the episode, and Peter has a smug look on his face when Scott apologizes for getting pissed at him.
Wade-
Nobody knows how the fuck this dude is getting into the mansion. He literally should not be there. He keeps sneaking in and talking about shit that no one understands. ‘Wow, a TV show in a movie franchise?!’ They try to kick him out, but he keeps coming back somehow. He is everywhere. There is no stopping him. Starts paintball fights in the corridors and where the hell did he get all of these paintball guns?! They’ve tried every single thing they could, but, Wade is there to stay. Only a few people have actually seen his face since he’s always wearing that damned mask.
Charles-
A tired Mom™ . Regrets the show a few weeks in, but he can’t stop now. There’s a fan base. A fan base! And so many more young mutants have been registering to get in! Talks about mental health a lot, and how they can offer therapy sessions at the school. Tries to stop all of the shit that happens, but never can. He just needs a fucking break for Heaven’s sake. Get this man a vacation, stat! Actually very proud of all the kids, though. For everything they’ve done. They aren’t scared to talk about issues that need to be talked about, and, that makes his heart swell a bit each time.
Erik-
Not there half the time. When he is, he’s hanging out with Charles or scolding Peter. The kids call him Dadneto on camera, and he pretends to hate it. Also, trains the kids, a lot. Talks about how mutants should be viewed as equals (Charles wont let him start with his usual ‘Homo-Surpremacy!’ monologuing. So, he sticks with equality instead.) Makes an apology video apologizing for every time he’s tried to end humanity. Only there to support Charles, honestly.

Americano
Pairing: fem!reader x Peter Maximoff
Warning(s): Pregnancy, fluff
Word Count: 2.2K
Request: Hi Darling! I just wanted to say I really really LOVE your last fic of Peter M that I read at least once everyday. Thank you so much again for accepting my request! My mood for Peter is still ongoing and I just had this idea for quite some time and it might be related to the last fic as well. So it's after Dark Phoenix and by that time Peter and the reader are married for like 7 years or so. When they married, they agreed to not have kids bc Peter was not sure/confident/ready to be a dad. Reader loved kids but she was okay with that and just happy being with Peter. Somehow Dadneto issue was resolved. One day Peter says he's kinda ready and wants to have kids with her only if she wants. They try and it's a long process so they decide to be patient. She loves coffee and Peter always brings coffee from her favorite cafe when she asks. One day Peter comes back with coffee and she says she might need hot chocolate or smt and Peter is confused. She reveals she's pregnant. I'm so sorry it's very long. You can change the idea as you wish. Always thank you for your time! - by @evanpeters-petermaximoff
A/N: Thank you again lovely for your amazing mind sending ideas to little ole me. I appreciate you so much  💖
Masterlist     Requests Open
Tumblr media
                                                        ***********
“One Americano, as requested.” Your husband places your order down in front of you, presenting you with his cheek and only sitting with his own coffee after you’d placed a peck upon it. A small smile rests upon his lips, as it always does after receiving a kiss from you, as he takes the first sip of his caramel latté. This is how you loved to spend your Saturday mornings, sitting side by side on the couch you had all but claimed at your favourite coffee shop down the road, sipping your drinks in relaxed silence.
When you had first moved in with your now husband Peter you had gone on a quest to find the best coffee in town. He liked his sweet whereas you preferred your coffee dark, so you’d had to find a place that did both well. You’d wanted to try as many of the cafés around as possible, however you’d stopped two cafés in as you’d tried ‘Brew’, your now weekly coffee stop. Being only two blocks away it was close enough that you could walk there, strolling down the footpath hand in hand to remind him to keep pace with you, lest he jetted off as he’s known for doing. You only ever really both had the time to go together on Saturday mornings, so throughout the week Peter would bring you a takeaway cup with your piping hot Americano. Sometimes he wouldn’t even get one for himself, going out of his way to bring one for you, making you wonder how you were lucky enough to have a husband that was still so thoughtful seven years into marriage.
You rest your head on Peter’s shoulder, waiting for your cup to cool down before taking a sip, when a family comes through the door. The two excited little girls burst through the door first, followed by their parents instructing them to slow down so they wouldn’t crash into anything. The girls slowed down by a fraction but did not cease in their game of tag. You look over at the mother to see that she was wearing a front pack which had the smallest little face staring at you from it. You had to supress a squeal. His face was scrunched and wrinkled, his small hands balled into fists against his mothers chest. You watched as the miniscule boy opened his mouth in what was proportionately a large yawn before closing his tired eyes.
The smile on your face speaks for itself and as you take your head off Peter’s shoulder to reach forward and grab your cooling mug. You peer at him, noting he must have been watching you looking at the family.
“Sorry, I was staring wasn’t I? They’re just so sweet”, you say, blowing on your coffee and tentatively taking your first sip. The fact you loved kids was no secret, you adored them, taking every babysitting opportunity that you could growing up. When you’d imagined your life as a little girl it had always been with children scampering around. You hadn’t accounted for meeting Peter then though.
He was a big kid himself, so when you’d first started getting serious with him you’d thought it went without saying that he’d want them too. Surprised was an understatement when you found out that wasn’t the case. At first he’d been guarded about it, laughing it off or changing the subject when you’d asked, but eventually you pieced together the truth. He was afraid he’d be like his father.
You had known fairly well immediately after meeting Peter that he didn’t have a father growing up, being raised by a single mother. You’d been shocked to say the least when he’d confided in you that the Magneto was his father. You saw the way this man was feared, how he’d put people’s lives in danger again and again. You saw how this affected Peter, how he wished his father was someone he could look up, someone to be a role model for him. He’d never found that in Erik, and while all of that was behind him now and he and Erik had sorted things out between them, those memories still wreaked havoc on his disposition towards kids.
You understood that if you stayed with Peter that he didn’t want kids for the foreseeable future, and that he very well might never want them, but you’d been surprised when you realised you were okay with that. Your friends had been concerned you were sacrificing too much when you’d married, having mentioned to them about him not wanting kids, but you didn’t see it as a sacrifice. You weren’t giving up your dream, simply realising a new one. As long as you were with Peter you were happy, kids or not.
“Pretty sure you’d have to have a screw loose to not look at that baby”, he says with a smile, trying to get a glance at the hardly a few weeks old baby himself. It’s now your turn to watch Peter, seeing how he poked his tongue out and bulged his eyes in an attempt to get the baby to smile. “I think he’s a bit young for that Peter”, you say while supressing a laugh at his antics. He shrugs at you, claiming no one is too young to find him funny before you settle down to finish your coffees, your eyes never truly straying from the happy family of five.
“So they were the cutest huh?” Peter asks you as you’re walking home, talking about the family he’d noticed you couldn’t stop smiling at. “Oh Peter, those wee girls were so cute! Did you see how the one with the pigtails kissed her baby brother on the forehead? I could’ve dropped dead right then.” You say it all with no agenda. You’d never try to change Peter’s mind, but you can’t help gushing.
He falls silent as you reach home after the short walk, him unlocking the door and letting you step inside first. He watches as he take your scarf off and hang in on the coat rack at the door, seeing how your hair falls daintily around your face and how your cheeks are a little flushed from the walk. He could never stop looking at you, sometimes he was so enraptured in watching you that you had to snap your fingers at him to pull him out of his trance.
It’s true, he hadn’t wanted kids. In the years since he’d worked things out with Erik though he’d felt a change. Something shifted, as if the worry he’d turn out removed like his own father had started to fade when he’d finally gotten to talk to him. Lately he’d noticed he was looking at kids just as much as you, thinking how great it would be to have a little Maximoff running around.
“Hey Y/N?” You stop on your way to the kitchen, turning around to look at Peter while humming to indicate you’d heard him. “You know I love you, don’t you?” You scrunch your eyebrows at the way he was speaking rather awkwardly, walking over to him and putting your arms around his neck. “Of course I do, I love you too.” Nows the time, looking into your eyes he couldn’t be more sure of it.
“I’m ready”, he speaks, having to continue when he only sees confusion on your face, “for a family. I want to have a kid.” You don’t speak for a while making Peter wonder if he’d said something wrong or if he’d chosen the wrong time. “Are you serious?” You whisper, a wide grin spreading larger across your face with every word you speak. He nods his head at you, his signature grin coming out at your happiness.
“Do you mean that?” You ask, still unable to shake your utter shock at his announcement. He nods eagerly once more, eliciting an excited squeak from you as you tighten your arms around his neck, him reciprocating by wrapping his around your waist. You stay there for a while, too excited to release him.
When you do, you quickly squeeze his shoulders before sliding your hands down his arms to connect your hands with his. Simultaneously you start stepping backwards with him in tow, leading him towards your bedroom. “C’mon Mr. Maximoff, put a baby in me”, you say with a mischievous glint in your eyes. He laughs full and excited, “I don’t know that it happens that fast.” He says, even though he continues to follow you. “Well we won’t know unless we try.”
“Whatever you say Mrs. Maximoff.”
                                                        ********
You sit on the closed toilet seat, absent-mindedly scrolling through your phone as you wait for three minutes to tick past.
It’s been eight months. Eight months of trying, false alarms, and looking for symptoms that weren’t there. The both of you knew going into this that people don’t get pregnant immediately, a lot of the time it takes a fair bit of trying. You just couldn’t help how impatient you were. You’d gotten used to the fact that you might never have kids, now that you were trying for one you had been impatient.
The time on your phone rolls over to 5:48pm, marking three minutes passed. You sigh and pick up the little white stick, expecting another negative. When you look at first you only see one strong red line but then beside it a very faint second line stares back at you. You don’t believe it, pulling out the instructions and reading that no matter how faint, two lines indicated a positive result. You grab another from the box and repeat the process over. 5:53pm you check again, seeing the same thing, one strong line and a fainter second one. You clap your hands over your mouth out of excitement. You were pregnant. You and Peter’s child was in your womb as you stood there gobsmacked. It was probably only the size of a bean or grape, but you look down at your still flat stomach anyway, a comically large smile on your face.
The door slams announcing Peter’s arrival home, followed by him calling out your name down the hall. You grab both tests and shove them into your pocket, opening the door and walking out to see Peter at your dining table with a takeaway cup in his hands and another in the seat opposite him. You kiss him on the cheek before taking your seat across from him, cupping the warm vessel in both hands.
You idly chat very briefly as Peter sips at his drink. You raise your cup to your lips as you intend to take a sip before you stop dead and put the cup back down. Aren’t pregnant people not supposed to have coffee?
“What’s wrong with your coffee?” Peter asks, noticing you haven’t drunk any, “Don’t tell me you’ve gone off Brew, I think I’d cry if we had to find a new favourite spot”, he says dramatically, adding “ugly crying too.” You giggle at him, reaching across the table presenting your palm to him. He reaches back and clasps your waiting hand, smiling as your thumb rubs back and forth.
“First of all we’re never leaving Brew”, you say with a cheeky quick squeeze of your hand, “but I think I need to start laying off the coffee, maybe switch to hot chocolates or something.” He furrows his brows as he takes another sip. “Why?”
“Well”, you start, your excitement now bubbling to the surface, “I hear you’ve gotta be careful how much caffeine you drink while pregnant.” “Pshh, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it babe, don’t torture your-”, he stops himself mid sentence as he realises what you said, eyes snapping to your grinning face. “Are you, are you...” He fades off when you produce the two sticks from your pocket and place them in front of him. “We did it. I’m pregnant.”
His reaction is far more immediate than yours. He holds up your hand in his, kissing the back of it before quickly shooting up and hugging you tightly in a flash. You laugh at his eagerness and your own excitement, hugging him back just as tightly.
He pulls back, placing a hand on either side of your face and kissing your forehead. “We have to tell everyone!” He exclaims, you laughing at him. “We’re not supposed to until three months.” He agrees to keep quiet for the mean time, although he did try to convince you to let him tell one person which you absolutely declined despite how much you wanted to tell people too.
“Look,” he says motioning out to the lounge with his arm around the back of your chair, “soon we’re going to have a little Peter and Y/N running around here.” You smile, being able to picture Peter playing on the floor with your child.
“You do realise this means you’re going to have to deal with me not being able to have an Americano for nine months right?” You say teasingly. “Yesh, it’s going to be rough,” he says, you doing nothing to disagree. You look up into the face of the man you love and the man who has made you the happiest you’ve ever been.
“It’s going to be worth it though”, he says with sincerity. You smile with him in agreeance.
“It sure will.

Simon’s Dark Phoenix Review (Not the director, another Simon) (NOT SPOILER FREE)
Yeah, I’m a Simon too, what of it? That’s another thing, actually. Watching DP was like reading my own writing. NOT A GOOD THING. I could see exactly what the director was going for and what the flaws in the script were because we have the same style, and my god was it bad. Like the pitfalls in my writing style but worse. A lot of the choices (setting and characterwise) are similar ones to what I would have made, which is why I’m trying to clear my head and make this. (Because while some of it is similar SOME OF THE DECISIONS ARE HORRIBLE WHY) It’s like looking at my evil twin yikes.
I have regathered my thoughts from last night after seeing Dark Phoenix. I’ve been mulling it over. I’ve been reading other reviews and looking through the lens of a fan, a moviegoer, and a critic.
What I have to say before I start:
Nostalgia. I have been watching x-men movies since 2014? 2012? My first X-Men movie was DOFP, so you can tell the precedent that set for me. There are two good X-Men Movies in the “new” timeline. DOFP, and First Class. You can tell (based on writing, character development, etc). This movie is not one of them.
Cons:
I’ll start with the cons first, to get them out of the way.
There are three women on the x-men team and they kill two of them. Storm is barely involved in anything, and only has a few moments of character/screentime. Also, they never call her Ororo despite that being her name. (Everyone else is referred to by name)
Some of the acting is lackluster. I was a bit surprised too. I don’t know, I was hoping for better. Especially in the mourning scenes.
Why hasn’t anyone talked about the PACING? It was weird, stilted, and way too quiet in some scenes. Sometimes the script was so vague and repetitive it sounded like a movie trailer rather than a movie. Raven’s death was anticlimactic merely due to the way it was written. Like, come on.
GOD THE SCRIPT IS AWFUL. Some of the character development is good (more on that later) BUT WOW. Sophie Turner isn’t a bad actress, so I wouldn’t fault her for her choices in this movie really. Like, most of the time she’s fine, but once in a while, she becomes unnecessarily repetitive. The character dialogue doesn’t flow. Sometimes the sentences are too short too often, which makes the film seem choppy. Show don’t tell is really important, but sometimes WHAT the characters say is telling in itself and they really could have used that to their advantage.
The villain was a bit underdeveloped. They were just kind of...there? Sometimes they were well and truly evil, and I really liked some of the scenes with the power transference and stuff. Other times, they were just a vague yet menacing “force” that sort of comes from nowhere and will soon go nowhere too.
Raven’s makeup isn’t good. Sometimes Hank’s isn’t either? But it’s not nearly as bad.
The score wavered between good and bad, sometimes drawing out scenes with a sort of Interstellar vibe (aka, very cool, very vast, very beautiful) but other times falling flat or making scenes too quiet.
Dude where the hell is Quicksilver? Peter is so important. His character development kind of relies on him revealing that Magneto is his dad (which Erik doesn’t know, and probably should have at this point). Also, Peter could have been a key player in convincing Erik that he wasn’t doing the right thing, but he wasn’t even there AT ALL. I know he’s not the main character, but I really expected some Dadneto moments in this one.
Kurt what. Just. What? Nightcrawler is like one of my favorite characters but there’s something about the way he’s written in this movie that’s sloppy. He’s still his sweet self around the beginning, but as the movie draws to a close his few moments of dialogue kind of (maybe) hint at development? Then he learns how to stop being a pacifist because some guy died, but like the way the actor conveys this looks like the way my friends used to pretend to do “violent rages” when they were younger. You know, the whole “AAAAAA” *stabs someone*. It looked cheesy.
There were some unintentionally hilarious moments. When Erik walks in with the subway car and looks up at Jean like “You think you can come into MY HOUSE and wreck MY SHIT for free??” that was PRICELESS. He doesn’t even say anything he just walks in there with his stupid train and stares at her. The evil lady is like talking to her when he just kind of bursts through the wall like the Kool-aid man.
Pros:
The first twenty minutes or so were the best twenty minutes. The work the team did together, the mission, and the atmosphere of the entire segment, was beautiful. Seeing the X-Men again on screen made me so giddy I was shaking.
The telekinesis was very good. I mean, the special effects weren’t always there but my god was the USE of telekinesis good. Like the creativity with it. They really manipulated it, making cool hand gestures and bringing power and finesse into play in order to make full use of the capabilities.
Erik has some of the most beautiful character development in this movie. He learns how to move when needed, while not taking drastic measures as he used to. He learns how to listen when necessary, and act when necessary. God, I’m such a Magneto stan.
Charles learns that he’s a flawed idiot. I’m so glad. (Quoted me, and also probably Magneto) Throughout all the movies he’s the good guy despite the fact that from his perspective and from the world’s perspective what he’s doing isn’t just the “optimistic” thing to do, but also the most dangerous. He’s sending teens (young adults?) to die for his cause because he believes so much in hope. It started in Cuba, and it’s still happening. He was the one who didn’t want to leave an astronaut behind. BASICALLY, HE SAYS THAT SOMETHING IS HIS FAULT AND THAT HE FAILED AND IT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT SCENE.
Scott and Jean’s relationship was actually nice! I liked it! (Personal opinion obviously) but I didn’t think it seemed too forced or uh unlikeable like in X3. Scott is drastic but he’s not nearly as “edgy” as he was. The ending wasn’t heartbreaking, but it was great character development for Jean. It was a sweet relationship, but not one I’d label as moving. (at least it was nice! And I liked it! Sometimes relationships just seem forced and awful)
Listen, I know people say that Erik was unnecessary for this movie but seeing as he and Charles work as two perfect halves to Jean’s full power and potential is actually a really good story element. Like when Charles tries to coddle her, Erik gives her the truth. That’s good duality.
Erik working with the X-Men is the best thing that’s it it’s the best thing.
THE ENDING!!! SO GOOD!! It left me satisfied and it felt like a good sendoff. Charles and Erik are finally friends again, and they’ve finally developed enough to know their own flaws. It was also super cute aaa
Moira Mactaggart isn’t in this movie. I don’t hate her character, but god the way her relationship is written with Charles is awful and I’ve had to deal with it for two movies. I’ve had enough and I’m so glad the writers realized this.
SOME OF THE SETTINGS AND SHOTS ARE GOOD. I don’t know how to explain it, but as a writer/artist, I’m a big fan of atmosphere and setting/color means EVERYTHING. The suburban neighborhood is pale and desolate, set during a hazed summer and conveying a sense of warped nostalgia. The mission in space was beautifully lit and composed.
As a fan I was happy with it. It may have not been the best movie, but by god was it as good as it was going to get. It far surpassed my expectations with Jean’s story arc (finally not making her “suddenly evil” or whatever, and not making her sexy) and it rounded out Charles and Erik in a very nice and healthy way.
THE CHARACTERS ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE. This is the one X-Men movie I’ve seen where I didn’t want to punch anyone in the fact for not just saying something or apologizing. CHARLES ACTUALLY SEES HIS FAULTS. He actually apologizes and steps down from his position. Erik actually listens and carefully reviews the circumstances in order to make an educated decision. Charles stops making his stupid self-righteous speeches (he’s really bad at that). Raven actually tries talking to Jean first before fighting, and the things she says weren’t problematic. Unlike when Charles keeps trying to talk to Erik (and botches it because they don’t have the same background and they’re too different, blah blah blah), Raven’s speech wasn’t assuming anything about Jean. It was about supporting her and helping her out. Jean was overwhelmed, but the grounding methods Raven used weren’t incorrect.
Conclusion:
6.5/10. I would say Apocolypse is only slightly better because it is more structurally sound, but it’s on thin ice. DOFP is still an all time favorite, and First class is up there, but Dark Phoenix isn’t the best. It was quiet, overdramatic, and while doing better on the emotional side felt overwhelmingly anticlimactic. If you’re a fan of the characters and you just want to see them again? See it. I liked this movie a lot for that, and I really enjoyed the moments in the movie. If you want to see a GOOD x-men movie? Don’t bother. It’s not GOOD GOOD. It’s not BAD. It’s Okay. It’s okay and I enjoyed it. I was actually pleasantly surprised by it based on my expectations! And I really liked certain aspects. So give it a shot, okay? Don’t let the mean reviewers get you down, this movie is better than they let on even if it’s not good as a “movie”.

Sometimes a little bit of worry makes you see things clearer
This is a piece of fluff with just a pinch of angst, that just appeared on my screen when I was trying to do other stuff. I hope you like it :)
Erik is feeling anxious, there are some communication issues and a happy ending. Featuring Dadneto, Charles, Wanda and Azazel
---
”Why are you so depressed dad? I thought you would finally be happy now that me and Pietro are in college.” These are first words Wanda says to Erik during their weekly Skype session one November morning. It takes a while that the words register, during which Erik notes how mature his little girl looks and how messy her dorm room is.
“Wanda, what happened to your… wait what? I’m not depressed!” Erik says and cringes when Wanda bursts out laughing.
“Dad, I can see it on your face. Something is wrong. What is it? Is there something going on between you and Charles?”
Erik’s shoulders slump in front of Wanda’s stare. He can’t lie to her nor can he lie to himself.
“I don’t know. Nothing is wrong. I’ve just been feeling a little useless lately. With you and Pietro gone, I don’t have anyone to take care of anymore.”
“Aww, dad, you old sap.” Wanda laughs and smiles at him, and Erik grits his teeth together. It’s always little humiliating to see how easily Wanda sees through his grumpy exterior. Even though Wanda and Pietro are not Charles’ biological children, it’s obvious that they have inherited some of Charles’ tricks. “What about Charles? Or have you stuffed your head so far up your… sorry dad. Or have you forgotten about him?”
“Charles doesn’t need me to take care of him; he is annoyingly good at taking care of himself and me.” Erik grumbles, choosing to let Wanda’s near profanity slide.
“Dad, you’re stupid. Of course Charles needs you, just…” Then there is a knocking on Wanda’s door and Erik never hears what he needs to do because Wanda says a quick goodbye to him and goes out with her friends. With a sigh, Erik closes the computer and drags himself to the empty living room. Charles is still at work and the house is silent.
---
Next Friday, Azazel asks Erik to come for a drink to a nearby bar, and because Charles is grading papers, he urges him to go. Erik leans in for a kiss, which Charles gives him with a smile and then shoos Erik out and tells him to have fun.
“I think Charles is getting tired of me.” Erik blurts out without even saying hello. He prefers getting straight to business and he felt like he was going to burst, if he couldn’t tell someone. Azazel shakes his head and mutters something incomprehensible before signaling Erik to sit down on the stool next to him.
“You’re an imbecile, Lehnsherr; the man thinks you hung the moon or something. He’s not getting tired of you. Order a drink and get one for me too, won’t you. I have a feeling that this conversation is not over yet and I’m going to need something stronger to get through it.”
Erik does as he’s told and tips the bartender maybe too generously, while deep in is thoughts.
“Azazel, I’m telling you. Since Wanda and Pietro left things have been different. Charles has always been the one that has kept me together while I tried to raise the twins and maybe he now has realized that I’m really a lost case.”
“Aah, that’s what this is about? You don’t know what to do with yourself now that the twins are gone and you’re projecting your emptiness into thinking that Charles has changed. Erik I always knew that you were a little bit dim, but surely you must realize how stupid that is.”
Erik lets out a deep breath and stares at him beer. What Azazel is saying makes sense but if this is how that has always been, surely Charles is feeling a little bitter. He loves Charles, maybe too much, but he has never been particularly good at showing it. He is so lucky, having Charles in his life and he doesn’t like this feeling, a feeling like his luck maybe running out.
“Erik. Go home. Talk to Charles and he will say exactly same thing. I don’t have a clue why, but that man adores you.”
---
When Erik gets home Charles is still sitting in his study grading the papers, but now he is not smiling anymore. Charles is muttering to himself, and when Erik opens the door after a knock Charles seems surprised. Erik frowns because that is not normal; it’s very hard to surprise a telepath.
“Erik! You came back already! I’m sorry, love, I’m…” Charles smiles ruefully “These papers are killing me. I get so frustrated when I know that people could’ve done better but they tend just to write these on the last minute.”
Erik feels a smile spreading on his face. Charles is so… good and… handsome. Erik must be the luckiest man alive. When Charles came into his life he was over his head with two five year olds and no clue how to raise them. Then Charles came and saved him. It was not always easy for them: they fought about everything along the way but still 13 years later they are still here. Both older and grayer and Charles a little balder.
The thoughts about losing it all and thoughts about his own usefulness prompt him into action, and with his powers he flings the pen from Charles’ hands.
“Let’s go and finish the movie we started last night. You’ve done enough for today and your back must hurt like hell. I’ve told you that we need to buy you a new table, that one is much too low for your chair.”
Charles laughs delighted and wheels after Erik, out of the study and to the sofa. Erik sits in the corner and when Charles gets to the sofa Erik manhandles him so that Charles is sitting between his legs, his back against Erik’s chest. Then he turns on the TV, switches on to Netflix and starts kneading Charles’ neck between his hands.
“Oh you’re a lovely man, Erik, truly lovely.” Charles groans as him shoulders relax and Erik’s heart jumps to his throat. He knows he is being stupid, he does, but sometimes he feels a little inadequate. He is still thinking when Charles turns his head and looks up to him.
“Is something wrong, Erik? I know you’ve been feeling out of sorts lately. I haven’t been peeking but I know you. If you want more space we don’t need to talk about it yet, but promise me that we will.” Charles turns back and pats Erik’s hand. “I feel weird when you feel weird, love.”
Erik sucks in a quick breath and lets it out slowly, slumping against the sofa.
“I have been feeling weird, “ Erik admits “Everybody has been saying that it’s just because Wanda and Pietro are in College and it’s just the two of us. I…” Charles stiffens in his arms and turns around again. Charles is feeling so anxious that it’s bleeding over, startling Erik.
“Erik… No… I…” Charles says and his voice is strained and Erik sees that his eyes are gleaming and his blood runs cold.
“No! Charles! I’m not leaving you! How can you even… No!” Thousand thoughts are running inside Erik’s head, but mostly he’s just appalled at Charles and at himself. At Charles because he even thinks of things like that and for himself that he never made Charles doubt the two of them.
“Okay… okay…” Charles’ next inhale is shaky but then he smiles. “Raven said that I was being idiotic. I’m just not used to not knowing what’s bothering you… You are usually so forthcoming with your emotions and when… well… That’s over now. Tell me what’s wrong.”
“I’ve been telling everyone how I feel useless and maybe you’ll now realize how useless I am and how you don’t need me!” Erik says and the absurdity of the situation would make him laugh if it wasn’t so serious.
“You’re not useless, Erik! There are some days I don’t think I would stay sane without you. Look at me. You need some time to think and I become a nervous wreck. I love you, Erik. You drive me insane sometimes but you… I love you.” Charles maneuvers himself around and props himself up so he’s staring Erik straight into eyes. “Who would give me massages, or play chess with me, or let me rant, or… well you know, if you wouldn’t be there?”
A relieved grin rises on Erik’s face, a grin that made Wanda and Pietro giggle when they were little, and he wraps his arms around Charles so that Charles plants on his chest with an oomph. It is remarkable how bad they are at communicating and how Charles always knows what to say to him. Charles laughs against his chest and let’s Erik squeeze him, with the movie going on, forgotten, on the background.
They stay like that for a while and suddenly an idea comes to Erik’s mind. It’s an idea that he has thought about before but never with such a certainty.
“Charles?”
“Mm?”
“Will you marry me?”
Charles wrangles out of Erik’s death grip and looks at Erik, searching for something. Erik lets his emotions free, projecting his love, joy and certainty. Then after a moment Charles looks happy too.
“Yes, yes I will.” He says and Erik grasps him into his arms again. All of Erik’s worries seem so stupid now, with Charles laughing and warm in his arms. Erik has always known how lucky he is, but now he feels even luckier.
