hey! are you guys still active and what characters would you like to see if so?

Hi there, anon! Yes, we are currently active! However, we are at the tail end of a temporary suspension of activity limits, as many of our members were hit very hard by covid related issues. So, our dash is somewhat slower than it usually is, but definitely still active. Your timing is actually strangely perfect though, as we are in the process of reinstating our normal rules in the coming weeks and essentially re-opening to the public after a period of hunkering down together as a community during a difficult time. We are also adding a bunch of new content, and a new plotline to our story that we are very excited about!

In regards to characters. I can only speak for myself when I say I would most love to see Henry Duffy, Hyacinth Aven, Preston Reed, Rosemary Collins , Elka Thorson, Willam Harlow and Kasha Greywolf the most. But, I welcome my fellow admins and members to chime in in the comments on any characters they are keen to see!

Two brand new characters to showcase today! This is Dragonpaw (left) and Lambpaw (right)! They both live on an island with their clan, ShoalClan, and are childhood best friends. Both are very different in personality, but they stick together regardless. I'll probably info dump on them both individually once I make their official reference sheets.

I'm very excited to draw more of these two! They brought me out of my creative rut! And I'd be drawing more of them rn if it wasn't 4am!

NeXus Design Notes - The Boucharde Brothers - Alexis and Hezekiah Boucharde

Given that I just did an audio for Uriah, I figured it'd be fun to release these into the wild, the design notes for Alexis Boucharde and Hezekiah Boucharde, (voiced and co-designed by @frenchiefitzhere!)

When it comes to these two I really enjoyed how they came out, especially Hezekiah cuz I'im proud that frenchie loved how he looked and liked playing him.

Meeting the Mimic I @shouga-nai

Mimic wasn’t one for being nervous, but something about this meeting put them on edge. There was an entire uptight feeling to the Talon base since yesterday, where the agents and other operatives told they would be greeting an important guest. And with that uptight sensation came the beating of regulations and rules over everyone's heads.

Mimc’s stomach was twisted into painful knots, their cold hands were twitching beyond control, and they couldn’t sit still for more than five minutes; frantically jogging about their workshop and trying to tidy up their mess. None of that was aided from the six cups of coffee they had downed in the two hours before this inspection.

No, this was more than an inspection. Inspections implied one was to have your progress looked over for changes; leaving wiggle room for improvements before set deadlines. This was an evaluation of years of hard work - This meeting was the judgment of their life's work. The big make-it-or-break-it.

And it all came down to the opinion of one big bad metal boss that Talon had made an alliance with: Ramattra.

Mimic didn’t know much about the Omic terrorist besides the brief personality files given to lower ranking agents, for formalities mostly, so that they could understand the importance of Ramattra and his goals. For now, Talon and those goals aligned, and Mimic was given the task to add an additional good impression of what the union provided for the man.

Goodie.

When The lab was as presentable as it could be, Mimic reached for a datapad and began a last diagnosis over the presenting machine they were to sell their program on: A orange tabby cat that was laying upon a table, asleep and purring to itself. They smiled down to the feline and pet along its soft furred spine, and spoke to it in a whisper.

“Well, this is it, Tiger. Big day!” Mimic smiled as the cat lifted its head and slow-blinked. The datapad showed out the readings in shifting bar graphs and an x-ray of the cat’s inner mechanics.Optimal. “Best behavior, yeah? We can’t have this going tits up.”

The cat didn’t answer, merely laying its head down once more unto folded paws and continued to “sleep”.

Mimic chuckled and gave the feline a final stroke down its spine. “That’ll do.”

After setting the datapad down, Mimc gave themselves a last look in a mirror hung up behind a stack of boxes holding several spare parts. Their maroon-red hair was tied back into a tight ponytail, their face clear of oil smudges, and their gray civic uniform was pressed out of any wrinkles and spotless for once. They breathed deep, in and out, and spoke to their reflection.

“This should be interesting.” Mimic spoke in a voice that wasn’t their own, one they had heard in those personality files. “Ah, nope, don’t do that!” They scolded themselves with a pointed finger and deep frown, forgetting about their tick and trick.

Mimic had spent so much time alone in the past week that they had to remember to bring back in their talent. No doubt coming right out the bat with copy-catting the Omnic leader would get Mimic a right thrashing. Or worse. Talon wasn’t known for mercy.

It was then that Mimic heard heavy footfalls coming down the corridor outside their personal workshop and they stood upright immediately. They had a pretty good idea of who came to visit by memorizing how someone walked, memorizing gear motions and the pace of the gait. Reaper was heavier than most, but not as weighty as Doomfist. Sombra’s very subtle pitter-patters were nearly impossible to catch until she was upon you. And then Widowmaker was worse … you didn’t know the sniper had you in her sights until it was too late.

The approaching footsteps were unlike anything Mimic had heard before. Someone knew. Someone with authority and power into every step.

Holding their ground, taking a last deep inhale, Mimic braced for their workshop’s door to open.

Moments of Apricity

"Hold onto this lullaby even when the music's gone. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound."

It was never my season, despite the frozen tundra surrounding bones. Too many ghosts and not enough chairs. Crowded rooms, tight corridors. The ground had hardened so when I fell into the mud, I was kissed with bruises. So instead of falling, I made sure I stood upright. I've been traveling, roaming.

Temptation to give into gravity was a strong tide I fought most mornings. But as I sat and sipped, I felt a warmth cradling my ring finger. Her, us. Our language and our understanding. Wrapped around me like her favorite sweater of mine, the one she stole before we even knew what we were. I found what I'm looking for. There's no need to run anymore.

This morning's sips were stuck in Yule's no man's land. Days stretched over time that belonged to neither the old year nor the old. Neither the past nor the future. Which only echoed her absence louder. With both hands around the mug for warmth, I let our velvet couch hold me along with all our notes and hidden moments tucked safely away. Home is where the heart is.

I had finished all the wrapping and writing. Gifts I've gathered for her return. Notes of random musings whenever I felt the warmth of the sun during this season of despair. I had a front row seat to their spot beneath the tree.

She'd come back and we'd celebrate all the moments missed, no matter the season. For she is my Apricity, my season that belongs to no one and nothing but itself and the present. When you kiss me I'm back where I belong. And through the hard times, good times, wrap me in your arms. Cause I need you, need you, need you.
