Summary: Eskel learns the difference between an unusual and friendly mount and a beast
Notes: after ignoring this WIP for almost a year, I finally finished it 😅 while writing this, I had Netflix!Eskel in mind, because 🥵🔥 but he has the soft personality of Game!Eskel, because let's be fair here, Netflix did our witcher dirty in their show

Eskel had been on the road for days, Scorpio carrying him through the vast meadows. The sun had begun its descent, casting a warm golden hue across the landscape. Just as he was about to end his search for the perfect place to set up a camp for the night, he saw something unexpected, a huge griffin landing gracefully on the meadow next to his path, ruffling its majestic raven feathers and mane. Intrigued and cautious by how careless and relaxed it seemed to be, Eskel dismounted from his horse, his silver sword drawn, gleaming in the fading sunlight. He knew he had to be prepared for anything, so he slowly crept closer to the beast, trying to steady his breath and relying on his heightened witcher senses. With each step, he mentally prepared himself to unleash his magic as a last resort. Ten meters away, Eskel steadied himself, his sword poised to strike, held firmly in his grip. In one swift motion, he sprinted towards the creature, his eyes fixed on its powerful wings and razor-sharp claws. But just as he was about to launch his attack, a sudden surge of a potent spell struck him, sending him sprawling backward through the air.
Confused and disoriented, Eskel struggled to regain his bearings. And then, a commanding voice pierced through the air, demanding attention.
"No!" a female voice shouted, "Talon is my mount, not a monster!"
Eskel looked up to find you standing beside the griffin. Your bright amber eyes were filled with concern and frustration as you defended your companion, your hand holding your own sword tight, ready to draw it if needed. Talon, seemingly intrigued by the commotion, looked from Eskel to you and back again, its eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and confusion before finally slumping down in a curled up position and closed its eyes.
The witcher's initial confusion turned into a mix of awe and admiration. He had encountered countless beasts but this encounter was unlike any other. The usual ferocity he had expected was replaced by a surprising harmony between the griffin and you. Silent questions swirled within Eskel's mind. Who were you and why in the name of Melitele's tits did you ride upon a creature typically feared and hunted? What kind of bond did you share that enabled such a display of trust and friendship? Eskel rose from his position, sheathing his silver sword and calling for Scorpio while cautiously approaching you, his palms raised.
"I mean you no harm", he stated calmly, "I just sought to protect, I'm-"
"A witcher", you interrupted him, earning a chuckle from Eskel.
"Is it that obvious?"
You affectionately stroked the griffin's head before continuing to unpack, preparing to establish a small camp for the night.
"You tried to attack a grown griffin so there are only two options", you smirked, glancing at him, "you're either an idiot or a witcher."
"Well I suppose I should be grateful that I don't look like an idiot", Eskel laughed, "I'm Eskel."
You playfully curtsied before the witcher, theatrically announcing your name with an air of mock elegance.
"Formidable huntress, whether with a blade or through magic", you chuckled as you conjured some firewood and ignited it, "care to join me for the night?", you offered.
Eskel felt the heat rising in his cheeks, shifting uncomfortably on his feet as his hand anxiously rubbed at his neck.
"I meant set up camp here together", you said with a playful grin, finding amusement in his understanding, "it's safer that way."
The witcher let out a sigh of relief. He couldn't deny your beauty but he knew better than to take chances, especially after he'd gotten his ugly scars in the face. He had learned from painful experience that passionate encounters, if not paid for, often led to feelings of disappointment and sadness the following morning. As he was about to remove his swords from his back and set up his sleeping bag next to the fire, the griffin suddenly perked up, its head lifting in agitation as it peered into the surrounding darkness. A piercing cry shattered the stillness of the night, growing louder and closer as another griffin, larger and more imposing, descended onto the meadow.
"Another friendly one?", Eskel asked hesitantly.
"Oh no no no", you exclaimed, raising your hand and tracing a symbol before releasing a blazing fireball towards the ferocious creature, "not friendly, not friendly!", you shouted as you swiftly darted towards the left, signalling Talon to stand back.
Eskel stumbled backwards, unsheathing his sword and sprinting towards the right, attempting to outmaneuver the menacing beast. With swift reflexes, he leaped aside, narrowly avoiding the razor-sharp claws. The griffin, with its magnificent wingspan and piercing eyes, had clearly marked Eskel as its prey. The witcher's piercing blue eyes locked with the griffin's fierce stare, a silent challenge between predator and prey. He conjured a swirling vortex of fire, hurling it towards the griffin with a thunderous scream.
Sensing an opportunity, you charged from the opposite side. Distracted by Eskel's attacks, you managed to clash your sword into the griffin's side, digging it deep into its flesh as it screamed in pain. The creature fought back with unmatched strength, lashing out with its beak and talons that you barely managed to dodge by casting a protective spell.
Eskel and you fought valiantly, blow after blow, spell after spell, the battle raged on until the beast's once-mighty wings faltered and it let out a final, guttural cry. The creature, exhausted and defeated, collapsed onto the grass, its life force fading away. Exhausted from the ordeal, you made your way back to the warmth of the crackling fire. As you glanced over at the witcher, a silent understanding passed between you, assuring each other that neither of you had been harmed. In response, he offered you a reassuring smile, prompting you to truly take in his appearance for the first time. There he stood, tall, his ripped and bloodstained tunic clinging to his chest as he breathed slowly, the flickering flames danced across his scarred face, casting a soft glow. His wavy brown hair was haphazardly tied at the back of his head, while his piercing blue eyes seemed to radiate with an inner light. Despite the deep scars that marred his face, he possessed an undeniable beauty that remained untouched and you quickly averted your gaze back to your backpack. After searching around, your hands eventually located the object of your desire. 
"Let's share", you offered, presenting a bottle of exquisite wine to the weary witcher. 
"Talk about impeccable timing after an intense battle," he laughed, taking a generous swig from the bottle before returning it.
"You know," you said, giving him a quick glance and a warm smile forming at the edges of your lips, "I can't help but wonder if the tales I heared about witchers were entirely accurate."
"About us being mutants, monsters, snatching children away, and never being satisfied?" Eskel inquired, attempting to mask a hint of sadness in his tone.
"Yes, although," you playfully nudged his arm, "I must admit, I'm not entirely convinced about the last one. Perhaps that particular rumour could benefit from a more thorough examination."

Development Update - December 2023

Hi folks, a very Happy New Year to you!
In the spirit of new beginnings, Mythaura has entered a new chapter in its development, which we detail in our December development update. We also take time to review what was accomplished in 2023 (our first full calendar year with Mythaura!).
We've also got our color contest winners, the winning Fighter companion, and much, much more. And of course: our demo is now live! We're so excited for you to traverse the Wild Area, a procedurally generated map with monsters for your team of three Beasts to defeat.

Message From The Developers
We're thrilled to share this pivotal update about Mythaura’s development journey, which showcases many of the core features we have planned for this game. Today marks a significant transition: we're shifting from the intricate and challenging phase of game engine development to the exciting realm of feature development.
Since beginning this project, our focus has been on scoping and then crafting robust and core components. Features such as wild areas, battle, and multiplayer systems, not to mention the complex breeding system, passive effect management, player inventory system, and the beast image engine. We've also been diligently integrating these elements with complex user interfaces and ensuring they will work on most devices (an ever ongoing battle). It's been a journey of overcoming unknowns and technical challenges, and we're proud of what we've achieved.
Now, we're entering a new chapter. Our attention turns to fleshing out the game's features, with a special focus on developing an immersive questing and dialogue system, towns & shops, skill trees & progression, and tools for content development among other needed feature development. The hardest challenges have by and large been solved at this stage and our focus can now be how to best deliver an amazing gaming experience by bringing them together. This shift doesn't mean the work is done—far from it. But it's a major milestone that brings us closer to realizing our vision for the game.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and enthusiasm, and look forward to a jam packed 2024.

Year In Review
This year has been marked by numerous milestones. Below is a recap of our key accomplishments, excluding the latest updates which have been a major focus of our efforts for the past several months.
1. Introduction of 'Supers': Enhanced breeding complexity by introducing 'Supers' as a new mechanic, making well-structured breeding projects more valuable. We started with the debut of our first Super: Tegu.
2. Special Additions: Welcomed the special Panda to our list of Specials.
3. Expressions for Beasts: Implemented expressions for beasts, a significant and ongoing undertaking that gives life to your beasts as they interact with NPCs.
4. Elements System: Introduced the Elements system, assigning each beast a pair of inherent elements. An element page was added that delves into the lore of each element.
5. Beast Sizes: Standardized beast sizes, assigning each beast a unique size within its species' range.
6. Beast Classes: Initial build of beast classes, providing each beast with a class-based playstyle and initial items.
7: Radiant Companions: Unveiled Radiant companions, rare alternate colorations for companions that are bound to be highly sought-after.
8: Deep Dive into Seasons: Explored the planned feature 'Seasons', designed to reward ongoing gameplay.
9: The Weekend Traveler: Designed the Kobold NPC known as the Weekend Traveler, who deals in ultra-rare goods, along with the Kobold non-player species.
10. New Colors on the Wheel: Established a sustainable method to introduce new colors to our color palette, allowing us to add 16 new colors this year (including the 3 contest winners).
11. Ephemeral Inks: Introduced Ephemeral Inks, a way to alter the colors of a beast.
12. Color Wheel Page: Created a dedicated page listing colors and corresponding inks.
13. PvP Battle Demo: Rolled out a demo showcasing our multiplayer technology in PvP battles.
14. Mutations Feature: Added Mutations as a rare breeding-only feature, beginning with our first Mutation: Piebald.
15. Items By You: Crafted 11 sponsored companions (excluding recolors), 5 sponsored apparel pieces, and 2 sponsored items.
16. New Game Engine: Designed a render pipeline that can create the 2.5D effects used in Wild Areas during exploration. Including, but not limited to, dynamic shadows, volumetric fog, real-time lighting, collision detection, special & particle effects, and gravity simulation, all accelerated by your GPU.
17. Granular Settings: Created a UI to manage game settings, graphics settings, audio settings, etc as well as added gamepad support with keybind remapping to Wild Areas.
18. Procedural Map Generation: Developed technology to procedurally generate bespoke Wild Areas.
19. Ongoing Production: Work on ongoing behind-the-scenes features such as worldbuilding, map design, systems design, and the exploration features we showcased on this update!

UI Update

You may notice the UI has received an update. This redesign focuses on being accessible for players using controllers, which is something we are working towards supporting on all screens and not just the Wild Area demo. The about page has also been updated. All the links to informational pages you would have found in the left-side menu of the previous design can be found on the about page with the exception of the /species page, whose contents has been moved to the about page.
We have also added an install button to the homepage that will display for users who have browsers which support Progressive Web Apps. This will add Mythaura to your taskbar/home screen for easy full-screen access.
Mobile and tablet users may enable gyroscope to interact with the parallax graphics if they would like.

Feature Spotlight: Wild Area
Wild Areas are a key pillar of Mythaura’s gameplay, and will be where you can expect to spend a lot of your time.
At A Glance
Procedurally Generated Levels
Traverse through uniquely generated levels with your trio of beasts. Control your adventure with WASD for movement and Space for jumps and shift for sprint. This can be remapped in the settings.
Each Wild Area boasts a series of floors. Your goal? Reach the top (or bottom)!
Your Safe Havens: Checkpoint Floors
Leave the Wild Area without any penalties
Choose to start from any previously reached checkpoint.
Encounter formidable bosses or minibosses at many of these checkpoints.
Prepare for the Journey: The Adventure Bag
Your Adventure Bag is your lifeline. Pack it with essential items for survival and success.
Provision Wisely: Stock up and get ready to face the unknown.
Limited inventory space for both what you bring with you and what you find along the way.
Keep Your Energy Up
Your team's energy is key. Keep it replenished with food from your Adventure Bag or found on your journey.
Running out of energy or facing defeat? You’ll black out, dropping your Adventure Bag's contents. But don't worry, you can retrieve them by returning to your last stand.
Encounter the Unexpected
From unlocking treasure chests with lockpicks to aiding NPCs, each exploration offers unique surprises.
Day and Night Dynamics: Encounter different enemies and events. A full day/night cycle completes every 12 real hours.
Wild Areas have natural water bodies, perfect for a fishing escapade.
Escalating Challenges
Increase difficulty with each New Game+ cycle and encounter new enemies and challenging secret bosses.
Multiplayer Co-Op
Up to 3 players can group up to take on a Wild Area together.
Take on enemies as a group with co-op battles.
See your friends jump and move in realtime, split up to make the most of your exploration while keeping tabs on your team-mates through the text chat and the minimap.
Fledgeling’s Forest Demo
The demo features a single floor of the Fledgeling's Forest Wild Area, with unlimited energy.
Day/Night Slider: Experience any time of day at your convenience. (Note: Creatures that spawn remain the same in the demo)
Currently Disabled: Fishing, lockpicking, loot & foraging, multiplayer, and other events are not available in this demo.

NG+ Cycle Update

In last month's update we revealed our plans for Mythaura's New Game+ system. Originally, our plan allowed players from NG+2 and beyond to create any Tier 1-Tier 3 Beast.
We have since changed it so that at the beginning of a player's NG+2 cycle they may make a Tier 1-Tier 3 Beast with up to three Specials, but NG+3 and beyond will not feature any custom Beast creation. The player will instead have access to a pool of NG+3-exclusive items that they will receive items from.
Thank you to our Discord members for all their input, it provided us with a much better direction to move forward with!

Safari & iOS Problems
At this time, iOS devices like iPad and iPhone are only partially supported. These are the issues that the dev team is aware of and actively working on:
On iOs, Safari forces a refresh if the memory usage spikes, forcing you back to the demo start page. This happens at different times on different devices dependent on its RAM usage.
Sometimes when starting a battle, battlers start shifted down, then snap to the correct position after interacting with a button.
The zoom in on a beast image is pixelated (Safari bug: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27684).
On Mac Safari, battle animations showing with a black background. iOS is fine. Solution is to disable battle animations in the settings.
You will need to be running at least iOS 15 and Safari version 15 or greater in order to use Mythaura.

Adjusted Radiant Overlay: This fixes an issue Firefox users had with viewing radiant companions.
Updated Tooltips: Tooltips have been replaced with a more modern library.
Gyroscope Support: The game can use a devices gyroscope to move parallax scenes around.
Websocket Connection Updates: Ensures websockets get cleanly disconnected at the end of every battle.
Improved Hitboxes and Rendering: Objects no longer appear to "float" regardless of their size and their hitboxes have been refined.
Added Global Sound - App can now maintain music across different pages and the settings control master, sound effects, and music seperately.
Enhanced Settings - Greatly improved the number of modular settings a user can use in both graphics and gamepad.
Wild Area Game Pad Support - Wild areas now support game pag usage. Full game pad support is in progress.
Virtual Joystick - Touch screen devices can control movement with a virtual joystick.
General Cleanups and Tweaks: Conducted cleanups and minor tweaks across various parts of the system.

It's Bronie Bee! Littlest Pet Shop Style!
My beloved @yourdragonsareglowing made this amazing custom LPS of Bronie bee for me! They'd been making Bronie bee in SECRET since September and finished them at end of November, I got Bronie bee about a week ago but have finally been able to take pics of them now.
Bronie Bee is made of 3 other LPS parts frankensteined together since there are no griffin LPS. They have a Hummingbird's head, a cat's body, and a fox's tail; and their wings, ear, horns, and extra appendages were sculpted from an epoxy putty. They have an adorable little scarf which came with a little matching bracelet for me :3
As you can see in their turnaround video their head still swivels and they have little painted beans on the bottom!
The one thing that wasn't made was a pair of glasses 'cause making a chain at such a small scale is a challenge if you don't have the right supplies. I have a bunch of jewelry supplies and wire so I'm going to attempt to make a pair of glasses and glasses chains for them in the next month or so.

I have been thinking what about if Desmond turned into a Pegasus, a Hippogriff or even better a Griffin. I just really like the image of Desmond's ancestors riding into battle or just flat out jumps from Desmond's back mid flight leap of faith style.
To be honest I like Griffin Desmond more. The combination of bird of prey and big feline is just so fitting for the Assassin's Brotherhood. Aerial superiority plus the stealth agility and flexibility of a cat. Plus imagine Altaïr finding cub Desmond during AC1 and thinking he is just a cat sized chubby ball of fluff that can fly and claw at the enemies faces (and also curl up with him at night and purr, Desmond's feathers and fur are very soft). Then fast forward a few years where baby is all grown up, can claw through steel and armor, is bigger than most horses and capable of easily carrying two people comfortably on his back and still have space for a third (that doesn't stop Desmond from sleeping in Altaïr's bed much to Altaïr's delight displeasure).
Also could put some AltMal in there with cub Desmond helping mend their relationship (Kadar is alive because I said so, maybe he saved him at the cave). And bringing those two for a nice flight.
Desmond goes down in Assassin history as a legendary creature whose chosen rider/companion goes on to do great things.
I wrote a pegasus idea but I can’t seemed to find it :(
I think I also wrote Griffin version but I’m soooo unsure so… have this little scene instead? XD

It was the sounds of quick feet hastily walking away that alerted him.
Altaïr raised his head and placed the quill back to the small ink bottle next to the journal he had been writing on, the two pages filled with the ongoing designs for Desmond’s armor with notes all over concerning the materials and possible alternatives.
He stood and waited for Malik to open the door to reach the mentor’s office from the second floor of the main keep. Altaïr kept his face blank, observing Malik’s face.
He was frowning with lips set on a grim line.
But his eyes did not bore any darkness nor blaze.
So… annoyed but not murderous or angry.
Altaïr could work with that.
… he just have to find out what he did wrong this time before Malik’s annoyance boiled into anger.
“Malik…” Altaïr greeted cautiously with a nod.
“Follow me.”
With that said, Malik walked out of the office and Altaïr grabbed the journal, not wishing it to be seen by anyone. He kept it open though because of the ink but followed Malik quietly, ignoring the way the other Assassins and scholars rushed (while walking) out of their way.
Malik led him to their private quarters and Altaïr was trying to remember if he had forgotten something.
Did he leave books haphazardly again?
No.
Altaïr was sure all the books had been organized this morning. He hadn’t even touched any of them, having been woken up by Kadar before dawn because of a new merchant who thought he could pull a fast one on Kadar with the absurd prices he had set for supplies.
Well…
Kadar was the reason why he had woken up but it was Kadar’s assistant, a young Assassin who had to leave the field due to a severe injury, that had woke him up and begged him to intervene before Kadar pushed the merchant off the fortress wall and make it look like an accident.
… not that it ever happened before.
Was it because Altaïr left in a hurry with no time to-
No.
Malik wouldn’t be annoyed by something so small.
They entered the room and Malik led him to…
Ah.
“Care you tell me about your bedwarmer when I’m not here?” Malik asked dryly.
To anyone else, they would probably assume Malik thought Altaïr had been spending the night with another behind his back.
But…
Desmond stared at them, wings twitching slightly as he remained curled on the bed, currently in disarray with feathers all over.
One of the pillows (the blue one that no one really uses anyway) had been eviscerated, its guts flowing out from the telltale talon marks.
“I can explain.” Altaïr started.
It was bound to happen.
Malik didn’t know that Desmond would come into their room and sleep with Altaïr whenever he was away.
Altaïr wasn’t even sure if Desmond did it to comfort Altaïr or if he wanted some comfort but it had been a habit they formed since he found Desmond as a cub, so small he could fit in one of Altaïr’s arms effortlessly.
Malik raised an eyebrow as he said, “Alright, I’m listening.”
Desmond slowly got up and tried to make himself look small (a fruitless effort considering his actual size) while crawling towards the now open door.
“Desmond.”
Desmond froze at the sound of Malik’s voice.
“Stay.”
Desmond stared at Altaïr, his big eyes seemingly becoming bigger, glistening with plea.
Altaïr turned his eyes away.
Desmond made an almost clicking sound before walking towards Altaïr, going on his haunches next to him.
“Well…” Malik glared at Altaïr, “Go ahead, Altaïr.”
Altaïr stared at Malik and wondered.
… what the hell was he supposed to explain?

Lexa shed her clothes as she walked through the room; she wasn’t dressed in her Heda gear right now, and within the small distance from the door to the bed, Lexa was completely undressed. She fell back onto the bed with a huff and closed her eyes, it had been an incredibly long and stressful day, Lexa was tired, wound up, and in need of some way to release her anxious energy. She couldn’t stop thinking about Clarke, couldn’t stop thinking about the way she had lunged towards her, couldn’t stop thinking about how her weight felt on top of her body despite the fact that Clarke was attacking her. Or maybe that is why she couldn’t stop thinking about it, the way her fists fell on her face, the way her knuckles bust her lower lip and made her lip. Maybe this was the first time in a very long that Lexa felt something, the first time in god knows how long that someone made her feel something that wasn’t annoyed or irritated. 
Lexa let out a shaky breath as the warm feeling blossomed in her chest again, the same one that she felt when she tasted the blood Clarke had managed to draw. It was…confusing, it was almost like she was aroused by it, by the impact, the violence, the unrestrained fury as Clarke launched herself on top of Lexa. She didn’t understand it, and right now, Lexa didn’t care enough to make sense of it. Right now, all she could see was flashes of Clarke behind her closed eyes, the blonde hair and blue eyes, the rough hands not caressing but groping and seeking and taking, retaliation for Lexa leaving her at the Mountain. 
A moan escaped her lips, letting herself be taken over by the images and feelings in her head. She let her hand wander over her body, open palms caressing and groping her breasts, feeling her breathing pick up as she couldn’t help but envision it being Clarke. Her right hand moved lower while the left played with her nipple, rolling the sensitive nub between her thumb and forehead and putting some pressure on it. The shows like a mix between scooby doo and sam and max, about an independent freelance dog police force who deal with more outlandish and dangerous criminals in the city.

Clifford: The head of the force. Tall, strong and imposing, yet a bit airheaded with a kind heart. Cares for the team like a family.
Martha: The team's communications officer and second-in-command, fluent in over a dozen languages. Firm yet caring. Isn't afraid to speak her mind. She makes sure everyone stays focused and not get into too much shenanigans.
Chase: An accomplished police puppy from Toronto, Canada. Leader of the world-famous Paw Patrol rescue team, working with the Dog Police is his "side project". Treats it with the same dedication as his main profession. Often accompanies Bluey and Rockruff so they stay out of trouble
Bluey: A puppy from Brisbane, Australia, and the youngest member of the Dog Police. Kind, innocent and playful. Loves thinking of inventive ways to solve a crime, especially if it can be made into a game. The team needs to be extra careful with her if things get dangerous.
Zoe: Expert detective with a sassy streak. Mastermind at figuring out mysteries and whodunits. Very fashion-concious. Don't mess with her hair!
Snoopy: A dog of little words, but one with a brilliant and analytic mind. Writer in his down-time. Always has his nose in a true crime book.
Aleu: A wolf-dog from Alaska. Zoe's best friend. One of the most hands-on members of the force. Not afraid to get her paws dirty. Ready for a fight even before she knows who shes fighting, though sometimes this approach gets her into trouble.
Courage: Ironically, a big coward, but a lovable one at that. Acts as the team's psychogical consultant. Trying to get over his phobias of a myriad of things. Skilled in cimputer tech and works with Dawkins to locate criminals
Elsa: The team's medic. Often seen training new recruits. Will always help out a fellow teammate or anyone injured at a crime scene. Can be egotistical at times, especially loves playing the leader when Martha or Clifford isn’t around, but always means well.
Dawkins: A Dalmatian from London, England, and just one member of a large family. The team's chief scientific advisor and tech support. Filled with knowledge despite his young age. Hes made several useful gadgets for the team at their disposal
Brian: an average joe-turned-sniffer dog from Quahog, Rhode Island. A ladies' man with a great singing voice and an expansive drinks cabinet. Can sniff out any form of contraband from blocks away. He does get annoyed with some of his teams dumb antics but does get along well with the others
Rockruff: The second-youngest of the team. A fireball of energy who brings a chaotic, upbeat energy to the team. Snarky at times, but in good means and being playful. Though he always has the feeling he's being controlled by someone.

Battle Demo Guide
Welcome to Mythaura's battle demo! Here's a concise guide to help you navigate the 3v3 battles and make strategic decisions:
1. Battle Setup
The battle takes place between your beasts (on the left) and the enemy beasts (on the right) and ends when one side is defeated. For this demo, all beasts in this demo are level 1 and have average size for their species.

2. Beast Details
Click on the info icon in the corner of your beast's avatar to view its details. From here, you can read their abilities and see a breakdown of their stats.

3. Elements
Each beast has 2 elements, including a species element that is always shown. You won't know your opponent's secondary element.
For this demo, a beast's secondary element is currently randomized.
Check the elements page for more information on elements and for a breakdown of type effectiveness.
4. Turn Actions
Each turn, your beasts can perform one of the following actions:
Use an ability or surge ability.
Defend themselves or an ally.
Rest to regain stamina.
Once all players have submitted their actions, the round is resolved with the following priority:
Resting beasts rest first.
Defending beasts defend next.
Abilities are resolved.
Within each action type, the order is determined by ability priority, beast speed, weight (with lightest going first), and then randomly if all those values are the same.
5. Abilities
Beasts start with 4 abilities: one surge ability (species-based), one neutral ability, and one ability for each element. If a beast's species and individual element match, they will have 3 abilities.
Abilities with elements can be super effective or resisted, affecting the damage dealt. Pay attention to moves' effectiveness and your foes' abilities for better results.
Abilities incur fatigue and the fatigue cost is shown on the ability button.
Abilities will generally have a small chance to miss or be a critical hit. The chances of these can vary per ability.
Abilities have 3 types: Combat, Projection, and Support.
Combat: Attack vs Defense
Projection: Focus vs Barrier
Support: Non-damage dealing abilities

6. Surge Abilities
When a beast's surge meter is full, they can use their surge ability for a powerful effect. Surge abilities don't incur fatigue and never miss. After using a surge ability, the surge meter goes back to 0%. Please note that the surge abilities in this demo may be changed before the game’s official launch.
7. Defending
Beasts can defend themselves or allies, reducing incoming damage by 75% for that turn. This effect does not stack. Defending slightly charges the defender's surge meter and recovers a small amount of stamina.
8. Resting
Resting recovers a substantial amount of stamina and a small amount of health.
Remember, understanding abilities, elements, defending, and resting will help you make the best decisions during battles. We have provided an in-app form you can use to report bugs and provide feedback. Good luck and enjoy the demo!
