Weiss eventually joins in on this when they all get closer and they start talking about the highs and lows of drunken caregivers and neglect and it makes everyone really love klein

Weiss and Ruby need to bond over similar trauma more they’ve both got neglect from father drunken other caretaker and then the person who wasn’t supposed to take care of them doing it which for Ruby was Yang who was a child but still where is that content?? The first 11 are songs that encapsulate the mood of the entire story and its overarching themes, mostly about Eph or literally from his pov (I’m on my hands and knees begging you to listen to King, The Next Right Thing, Quiet, and A Little Closer at the very least 🥺)

The 19 after those are various instrumental tracks I listened to while writing and editing to set ✨ the mood ✨ (I do this for all my fics), more or less in chronological order

And finally, once Overmorrow is finished…I’ll add some bonus songs 😃

Introducing MAYbe I’ll Make This, the easiest month of prompts you’ve ever participated in happening this May 2023.

It’s a chance to share all those ideas you’ve been toying with that you might draw or write someday with no pressure to actually commit to finishing anything!

Participation can be as little as sharing a few words or a single sentence or as involved as a sketch or plot summary, it’s up to you! 

What’s the point?

To fill our fandom tags with fun new ideas and stimuli to get everyone’s creative juices flowing. For fan creators ourselves, it gives us a chance to talk about our ideas with no pressure to deliver. And who knows, hopefully seeing people excited about our ideas might give us extra inspiration and motivation to maybe even work on them someday!

Here’s how it works:

Throughout May, post anything from a few words to a snippet from an idea you’ve been kicking around that you MAY draw or write someday and tag the related fandoms, if any. (Ideas that you've started, have actively in progress or have even started but abandoned are also welcome!) A few sentences about a fic you might write, a sketch you’re still figuring out, or even a long infodump about the AU of your heart, share as much or as little as you want!. It’s not a commitment to make anything, just a fun excuse to talk about your ideas. 

Don’t have any ideas of your own? No problem! You can still participate by boosting the ideas that others post, asking questions and expressing your excitement about the ideas that appeal to you. 

Anyone from any fandom is welcome to participate as well as original writers so please spread the word!

We’ve got 30 days worth of prompts to get you started that you can interpret anyway you like… or ignore entirely and do your own thing. Do all 30, pick and choose, do them out of order, whatever you want! The point is just to have fun and share your ideas! 

That’s it! Just a super chill, low effort way for us all to celebrate those ideas taking up space in our brains that we aren’t quite ready to commit to making yet (or maybe ever).

Im actually gonna cry of laughter.

Okay so Jaune says to Ruby this: Oh let’s not forget the REASON we’re in the Ever After in the first place is because of YOUR plan that didn’t work!

So he’s accusing Ruby of their being stuck in the Ever After because HER plan didn’t work, right. HER plan.

So I went back to Volume 8 and I rewatched the part where the plan to use the Staff was made, in V8 episode 12. Because using the staff is specifically why they’re in the Ever After. And... well:

Nora: Guys, she has to go to the Vault.

Ruby: That’s actually a risk we haven’t considered.

Jaune: We've been so worried about keeping the Vault closed that we never considered using what's inside.

Oscar: The Staff of Creation.

Ruby: Maybe we could use it to save Penny and get everyone in Atlas and Mantle back to safety.

....

Okay, so Ruby, Oscar, AND Jaune are ALL framed as together coming to the revelation that they can use the Staff here. They’re essentially all talking about the same thing to build to Oscar spelling it out explicitly, and then Ruby just elaborates by saying “Hey! Maybe we can use it to solve both of our problems!”

Point being, they all have equal say and are all framed as coming to this conclusion. Keep that in mind.

....

Weiss: So we've got people trapped in Atlas and Mantle that we can't evacuate unless we use the Staff which is located inside the Vault. If we open the Vault, Penny terminates. If Ironwood gets wind of any of this, he blows up Mantle.

Oscar: There's something else to consider. Once the Staff creates anything else, the city drops. Atlas has enough natural Gravity Dust to keep it from plummeting immediately, but, well, nobody's going to want to be around when it touches down.

Jaune stops using his Semblance.

Jaune: Okay, then let's use the Staff to teleport everyone to safety. Maybe even to another Kingdom.

So, this is in the mansion, when they’re hashing out how to use the Staff. We’ve shifted from Ruby, Oscar, and Jaune being the most proactive with planning to Weiss/Whitley, Oscar, Jaune, and Ruby.

Oscar is mainly relaying info about the Staff so they can account for it, and Weiss is just revising their current situation. Neither are doing much actual problem-solving aside from Weiss’s vague suggestion at the end of the scene that she has a way to deal with Ironwood and his bomb.

Ruby has lines about planning not in this specific scene, but as a voiceover about them entering the vault to get the staff to stop Penny’s termination. In the actual vault, she’s the one who spearheads appealing to Ambrosius to help Penny. She’s constantly associated with the half of the plan involving Penny, as in, she doesn’t even have lines pertaining to the evacuation aside from her initial suggestion.

Now, JAUNE is the one who is elaborating on using the staff to take care of the civilians, specifically saying they should use it to move them to another kingdom, and WEISS/WHITLEY are the ones who supply the schematics for the paths and spearhead asking Ambrosius about this part of the plan. Furthermore, JNR are the ones associated with and taking care of the evacuation, with Jaune spearheading it. The evacuation portion of the plan is specifically what landed them in the Ever After, especially considering the Staff has a significant degree of flexibility in how it can be used despite the limitations.

All this to say that this was not Ruby’s plan alone. She doesn’t even get lines about it aside from her initial vague idea to use the staff to solve both their problems. This plan is also Jaune’s. It’s also technically Weiss’s. They are the ones that contributed the most to putting that part of the plan together, specifying how exactly they’re going to use the Staff for the evacuation, and leading it. They are all framed as equal contributors to the plan.

So where the FUCK does Jaune get off only blaming Ruby for this? Like he’s some subordinate just following Ruby’s plan when he’s not only a team leader himself, but he ALSO was shown to have equal say and even a majority association with the part of the plan that landed them in the Ever After. Ruby certainly didn’t force him into it.

He can apparently (vaguely) angst over his responsibility in Penny’s death but as soon as he can slough off the blame he’s alllll for yelling at Ruby and ignoring his own part lmfao.

Yandere Valentines: Finding a love letter written by someone else (Yang, Blake & Nora)

Yang Xiao Long: 

Before she is even halfway done reading it is burned to ashes. 

Even hell fire would be nothing more than boiling water compared to her rage. 

She will instantly confront the person who dares try to use sweet words to get her darling.  

Makes it very clear who her darling is with. (Whether they actually are or not.) 

She is snappier with those who try to get close to her darling for the rest of the day. 

Blake Belladonna: 

She catches them just as they were leaving the letter. 

Will either read it right in front of them or later on. 

Either way she will show them just how she feels about their little love letter. 

They definitely won't be coming anywhere near her darling after their ‘little talk’. 

Keep a closer eye on people around her darling just in case anyone else gets any more funny ideas. 

Nora Valkyrie: 

They really should be running as far away as they can. (Not like it would really help.) 

She tears the letter apart after reading the whole thing. 

She does end up getting into their face about how they are ‘trying to break up her and her darling.” 

She does become very clingy and affectionate after for the rest of the month.

In true me fashion, what was supposed to be a cute little snippet for an event turned into a two-shot that goes way too in depth about Best Farm Boy post v8. Because I still actually want to participate in RG Kiss Day...I’ll post what inspired it now and then clean up and get the rest on Ao3 later.

This is the important stuff anyways ;). Here’s some v10 reunion speculation/wishes.

“Ruby!”

His feet moved before his mind caught up, before her name was even fully out of his mouth. He was glad everyone was back—overjoyed beyond words—but he wouldn’t deny that seeing her specifically standing in the entrance of Shade Academy, alive and whole and looking even better than the visage of her he seared into his memory, caused his heart to soar to new heights. And he should temper himself, he should, but in that singular moment everything was right again.

For just one moment, nothing else in the world mattered but the fact Ruby Rose and her team had returned.

She started at the sound of her name, but barely had the chance to respond before Oscar was in front of her and enveloping her in his embrace. She was here, she was real, he could feel her warmth and the softness of her skin and the tautness of developed muscle as he pulled her close.

“Ruby,” he sighed, nearly unable to think of anything else to say but the chant of her name repeating over and over in his mind, “You’re here. You’re back.”

For a long moment, she didn’t respond to him. She just stood somewhat stiff in his arms, as if she were surprised by his outburst. And perhaps in his excitement he overstepped—he should have tempered himself—but before he could pull away and ask if everything was alright, Ruby’s arms circled around his back and gripped at his shirt, tugging him just as close.

“Oscar,” she breathed softly. He could feel her smile into his shirt. “I’m glad to see you too.”

If he were more cognizant of his surrounding, he perhaps would have paid more mind to the few pairs of eyes turning to them, but as it were, all he cared about was the fact the young Huntress Ruby Rose returned. The only thing he was aware of was her presence being near once more. And the longer they stood there in Shade’s lobby, holding onto each other like their lives depended on it, the more he became aware of her stature as it started to fall apart. There was a small tremble here, a shake there, and then suddenly a dampness on his tunic.

Was she…? Well, if he were being honest as he turned his gaze to the ceiling, tears pricked the edges of his eyes too. It was an overwhelming wave of joy and heartbreak, immense relief and finally an acknowledgement of all the stress and fear he had been holding at bay for them. For her.

“I’m so, so glad you’re back,” Oscar murmured to her. On instinct, before he could even think better of it, one of his hands moved to cup the back of her head, and he shifted just enough to place a kiss on her temple.

Ruby stilled. “O-Oscar…?” she asked quietly and pulled away from him, just enough to stare up at him with wide, teary eyes. She didn’t ask anything else, but the way she said his name was more than enough to imply what she was asking.

“Oh! I…uh—"

Heat flared in his cheeks, and he pulled his hand away from her to awkwardly rub at his neck. Why had he done that? No…no he knew exactly why he’d done that, but why had he done it to Ruby? A faint laugh echoed in his head, and he rolled his eyes as he glanced away from her.

“Shut up.” That only encouraged a louder laugh.

“—Sorry,” Oscar said with a sheepish grin, returning his gaze to Ruby, “That was always how my aunt greeted me when she returned home from a long trip to Mistral or some such. Guess I just got a little carried away…”

It was what he was used to, a common gesture he was comfortable sharing amongst loved ones. Admittedly, he had no intention of doing it with anyone else outside his family—it was weird to do with friends, wasn’t it?—but it came so easily to him in that moment he didn’t even question it until she did. It was instinctive, second nature…like so many things were when it came to Ruby. Like it was proper, correct in a way he couldn’t quite describe and that…well.

That was a truth he would address at a later date.

Ruby continued examining him, and he did not miss the storm that crossed her face as he pretty silver eyes drifted downwards, over his neck and chest, and then back up. He had half a mind to ask what was wrong, but before he could open his mouth she flashed him a soft smile, and for the second time in the past twenty minutes, all the air escaped from his lungs. She moved closer again, wrapping her arms around him once more and resuming their hug.

“It’s okay,” Ruby whispered, “I’m glad to be back too.”

Oscar breathed a sigh of relief. “Ok…thank goodness,” he chuckled and eased back into her embrace.

The last thing he wanted to do was make her uncomfortable, or make things awkward the moment she returned home, but the feelings welling up and springing forth inside his heart were almost too much to keep completely contained. And as he wrapped his arms around her again, the desire to lean down and kiss her flared up again. In part, to prove to himself that she was, truly there in his arms, and in part to prove to her that he was there too. That no matter what happened to her and no matter what came next, he was there and ready and able to stand by her side and help.

“Ruby?” Oscar asked and swallowed back a new lump of emotions growing in his throat. “Can I…would you mind if I did it again?”

She chuckled, he felt the small shake in her shoulders, and the sound did more to soothe his nerves than anything had since Oz first popped into his head. “Yeah, you can,” Ruby agreed and turned her head up to peek one silver eye up at him. A faint dusting of red covered her cheeks. “I…think I’d like that.”

“Thank you,” he whispered, unable to contain his grin. He moved again, brushed a few strands of hair out of her face, and pressed another soft kiss to her temple. This time, instead of pulling away, her grip around him tightened. “Welcome home, Ruby Rose.”

it amuses me how RWBY Beyond was advertised as "see what was happening in Remnant during V9, while RWBYJ were in Ever After", and yet the 2nd episode out of 4 of the series is about what Jaune was doing after V9. yeah, he talks about stuff that happened during V9 (or, technically, before, since it's about events from when he was with Alyx and Lewis), but the whole thing still takes place post V9, with him telling all those stuff to Oscar.

and then there's the 1st episode, which, while indeed taking place during V9, is just comedy filler, that supposedly continues with detectives joke from RWBY Chibi (I never watched RWBY Chibi, I only heard from other people that that show also had Sun and Neptune act like detectives) with no actual relevant info about what was happening with Vacuo, or the Atlas and Mantle refugees, or how people and the ruler of Vacuo were handling a whole ass nation of people just suddenly dropping onto their doorstep, or anything like that. the only sort of plot relevant info was showing that Summer Maiden is in Vacuo, but then again, her identity was still hidden from us and Kerry quickly jumped off from that plot point as soon as it was introduced with his """hilarious""" "nuh-uh, no more new characters lmao XD" line.

this 2nd episode isn't really that bad, it's kinda alright, certainly better than the 1st one, but, again, when I read that the series will be about what people of Remnant, who aren't RWBYJ, were doing during V9, I kinda thought it'll be about Atlas and Mantle citizens trying to get used to their sudden new life in Vacuo, or Oscar/Ozpin talking to Theo and all 3 maidens to figure out what to do next, or, hell, maybe even focus on Tai's feelings on everything that happened, with him thinking if he did the right thing by letting Ruby and Yang leave, since now he doesn't even know if his daughters, his last remaining family, are even alive, assuming he knows about the fates of Vale, Atlas and Mistral. (yeah, Tai's still at his house I think, but the description did say that it's about "what was happening in Remnant", not just Vacuo. yeah, Vacuo is a more important location right now, with everything except Menagerie and Mistral literally getting nuked just so the writers wouldn't have to go back to those places, but then change the description to "see what was happening in Vacuo during V9" if your only gonna focus on that location).

but no – the 1st episode is basically useless (and also very unfunny, but that's just my opinion) and the 2nd one, while okay on its own, takes place after V9 and doesn't focus on other people of Remnant, focusing on Jaune instead.

if the next episode is gonna be about bumbleby going on a date in Vacuo and telling everyone about how they got together in Ever After I'm gonna eat my own chair

and if the last episode will be the only one with any actual plot relevance, useful into or big reveal I'm gonna eat another

#rwde #rwby critical #♤mizu.txt #txt #this is a copy of my comment from reddit #thought I'd post it here too #you could say that the cut V9 epilogue already “focused” on what people of Vacuo Atlas and Mantle were doing during V9 #but then you get the question #“why the fuck did the writers even made and advertised RWBY Beyond to be about what those people were doing during V9”??? #could've just made the show about team RWBY figuring things out aftee coming back #since those 4 have always been getting shafted aside in favor of every other character #just make each of the 4 episodes focus on each of the girls talking to friends and family they haven't seen for a while #while also figuring out what to do now and retrospecting on the events of V9 and maybe V8 #and also cram Jaune in there somewhere since the writers like him so much #would be nice for the show called RWBY to focus on team RWBY for more than 2 volumes
